ThinkPad X1 Carbon 2nd+OneLinkPro Dock = No IP Address During Imaging (OSD) via SCCM 2012 R2

Question: ThinkPad X1 Carbon 2nd+OneLinkPro Dock = No IP Address During Imaging (OSD) via SCCM 2012 R2

I'm trying to image a second generatoin X1 Carbon that also has a OneLinkPro dock attached via SCCM 2012 R2.The USB stick is plugged into the dock, as is Ethernet & power. When I boot into the preinstallation environment, I don't have an IP address. The USB stick is fine - works on all 26 other devices hereThe network cable is fine - I'm able to get an IP & image from other systemsI tried two OneLinkPro docks, same problem on bothIf I use the Ethernet adapter, it works fineI'm convinced its a driver issue at this point. I was directed to www.lenovo.com/onelinkdrivers to locate OneLink dock drivers, and I've downloaded the package. The downloaded EXE (tp_onelink_dock.exe) extracts to C:\SWTOOLS\DRIVERS\Dock by defaultIn C:\SWTOOLS\DRIVERS\Dock you have another EXE Setup_OneLink_Dock_Lenovo_v10826.exeThis immediately launches an installshield setup (run from %temp%)There no options to extract the drivers - it just installs the drivers, and none of the switches I've thrown at it have yielded any results.I found a data1.cab file but I can't seem to extract anything with 7Zip or expand How are folks with second gen X1 Carbons who use SCCM for OSD successfully imaging those machines with the OneLinkPro dock? (without the use of the Ethernet adapter of course.)

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: ThinkPad X1 Carbon 2nd+OneLinkPro Dock = No IP Address During Imaging (OSD) via SCCM 2012 R2

Fauxlution:Install drivers on an x86 machineNavigate to C:\Program Files\Lenovo\Onelinkdock (or something like that)Grab the driver directories & save them elsewhereRepeat process for x64 machine because the installer will only install drivers for the architecture of the system its run on. (x86 system = x86 drivers; x64 system = x64 drivers)Clean up the drivers (extra non-essential files in there)Import both sets of drivers into SCCMBake architecture specific Realtek drivers into boot imageCouldn't be simpler.

My company receently purchased 40 Lenovo T540p and 40 Pro Docks-We are using SCCM 2012 r2.I downloaded the sccm driver package for the Lenovo T540p.Imaged the laptop and all seemed okay until I connected it to the docking station.First off it would not recongize anything connected to the usb's so I reinstalled the usb 3.0 driver. When I did that it did recongize usb deviced, but now the dock shows up as an unrecongized device. Also if I undock the laptop and redock it I have to reboot the laptop for it to recongize what is connected to the usbs in the back. Note there are no video problems.

I want to use the USB 3.0 Dock to boot up SCCM winpe (on a USB Flash Drive) to build the X1 Carbon. I can get the USB 2.0 dongle NIC working but prefer to use the USB 3.0 Dock. The X1 Carbon has all the latest drivers including the USB 2.0 NIC and USB 3.0 Dock. I used Drivermax to extract all the drivers on the X1 Carbon and created the SCCM bootmedia. What I am really after are the NIC drivers for the Dock! When I boot up the X1 Carbon with the Dock connected, the BIOS does see the USB Flash Drive and will boot from it but it hasnt got the correct NIC drivers for it.

Hi All

i'm trying to turn on TPM via a task sequence set whilst building the machine via SCCM 2012

I have included the following cmd as a step in the task sequence:

cscript.exe SetConfig.vbs SecurityChip Active

then use a 2nd step in the task sequence to enable  bit locker encryption and use TPM.

Now step 2 works fine as we have used this on our previous HP laptops, but it will not work on the lenovo's Am i missing something in the first step of the task sequence?

Hello fellow users / Lenovo, In our office we have several X1 Carbons and several ThinkPad USB 3.0 Docks (0A33970) located all over the office. We typically bring our X1 Carbons around and use each other's Dock during the course of work. However, we recently face a problem with the Ethernet interface not working with other Docks, other than the Dock that the driver was installed with. Using other Docks, the Ethernet interface comes up as a generic Ethernet device with a yellow warning triangle inside Control Panel. Using the Dock that the driver was installed with, the Ethernet device works as normal. It should be pretty easy to replicate this behaviour, just get an X1 Carbon (fresh, Windows 8.1) and connect a USB 3.0 Dock to it, and install appropriate drivers.Verify that the Ethernet port works correctly. Next, disconnect the Dock and connect another Dock to the X1 Carbon. Observe that the Ethernet interface does not work, and see the yellow warning triangle icon under Control Panel. Uninstalling and Reinstalling the drivers with the new Dock doesn't work either. Only the Dock that the driver was originally installed with will work.

Hello - I have a X1 Carbon with the ThinkPad USB 3.0 dock.  Everything worked great under Windows 8.1.  I would occassionally have an issue with the dock not coming online after resuming Win 8.1, but it was easy to fix by powering the dock on/off or rebooting. However since upgrading to Win 10, I have a very frustrating audio issue.  Application seem to have trouble picking between the sound device inside the laptop and the dock.  For example, I'll get an incoming call from Skype, and it will start the call on the laptop internal speakers, then say the "Realtek audio device is unavailable".  If I call the person back, it then completes the call and works fine through the dock audio device (which is what it should have done the first time). However the issue isn't only with Skype, it's with all apps.  For example, if I start Pandora in the Chrome browser, it will start playing the audio through the laptop speakers for about 1 second, then stop.  I then have to refresh the web page a few times to get it to start playing out of the dock sound device.  All the while, Windows is configured (and properly reports) the dock sound device as the default (which is what I want). I suspect this is an issue with the drivers for either the dock or the X1 not properly talking to Windows 10, but both are up to date, and either Lenovo or DisplayLink (who makes the dock drivers) have any noted issues with audio-switching. Has anyo... So it doesn't turn off completely  What might help: beeing able to get back to the former driver and firmwar, but I do not seem to be able to download them :-/ Any hints appeciated. Best regards!Markus PS: I am not a native English speaker - Hope, you're getting my points

I have a simple question, Can I run 2 external monitors using the Ultrabase series 3 with the X230 docked and the lid open? My goal is to be able to see basically 3 displays. The main one would be the laptop and the other two extended monitors connected to the dock stations. One connected with VGA cable and the other with display port cable. Any help is appreciated.  Sebastiano

Answer:ThinkPad Pro Dock, ThinkPad Ultra Dock, or ThinkPad OneLink Pro Dock - External Monitors

The X230 can support this configuration from memory.

Hi, Everyone. Got me a nice little x270 to replace my old x201.  Happy enough with the machine, but getting it connected to my accessories (monitor, keyb, mouse, ethernet) is a bit of a chore. This machine appears to have a "proper" dock port on the bottom.  Is there a compatible ultradock available for the model 20HN x270?  By proper - I mean, Not USB.  A nice dock I can simply drop the machine into when I'm at the home office.. Thanks!

Got my X1 carbon, like it don't love it.  However using it on our wired network I'm getting around 20MB speeds copying files and my carbon becomes very copy when doing large 2GB file type copies. On my T420s with a "real" docking station I get around 150MB speeds copying the same file. No errors on our Cisco switches, seem speeds are locking in fine.  Is that simply the best I'm going to to over the USB 3.0 connecting to the SS port?  I can almost live with slow speeds but copy video during copies, no way. Am I missing something, doing something wrong, or this is what it is?  Sure hope not...

Having the exact same problem. Files that transfer instantly on other computer take upwards of 40-60 seconds on the X1 through the USB 3.0 dock.  We are using the most recent dock drivers as well as the most recent usb 3.0 drivers, so not sure what could be causing this problem. Thanks

Hello,I think of buying the ThinkPad T400 with one of these docking stations: ThinkPad Advanced Dock or ThinkPad Dock II.I have several technical questions and haven't found neither appropriate information, nor the way to get it.Here are my questions:1. Do these docking stations support DVI when T400 with integrated (not discrete) graphics is connected? 2. Where can I find a complete list of UltraBay devices supported by each one of these docking stations? Thanks

Answer:T400 with docking stations, ThinkPad Advanced Dock and ThinkPad Dock II

I have a T400 with integrated graphics and recently purchased the Advanced Mini Dock 250410U.  The Advanced Dock and Advanced Mini Dock support DVI pass-through.  I looked into this before purchasing as well. This page will confirm the feature:  http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-72148.  Also see reference guide for docking stations: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-4TPJF4 which says ThinkPad Dock II is discontinued.  This brochure says the Advanced Mini Dock does not support Ultrabay, but the Advanced Dock does.  http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/options_iso/tp_docking_solutions_june09.pdf .

OK, I am going insane with configing SCCM!

I have installed SCCM 2012 r2 and made the config so AD populates it with users and machines,
I have imported the boundaries and boundary groups,
Discovery methods are all enabled and configed BESIDES network discovery (not sure how to config this yet - if I need to?),
The SCCM server can see the target machines and vice versa.

I'm sure I must be missing some other configs as when I deploy the client installation to my machine it is successful however nothing actually installs! I've tried to manually install the Client but again nothing happens...

Please tell me someone has set up SCCM 2012! I have only seen it for the first time this week and spent the last 2 days trying to find out what I'm missing...

Hi Guys,

I'm currently having to rebuild Dell laptop and PC system from scratch using Dell Windows media discs as we don't have a standard model or build around the company.

Obviously this is a pain after doing a few systems as all of our standard software, patches and windows updates have to be installed which takes a long time to complete.

I know that WDS exists and SCCM also exists but I'm not too sure exactly how Windows 7 SP1 x64 can be best placed into the mix to get the most out of what Microsoft have to offer in terms of OS deployment.

I'd preferably like a image of Windows 7 Pro, stored on our network (or usb storage) on which MS Office, CD burning software and a number of other programs we use could be pre-installed, along with the bulk of WSUS updates that we apply. Then from some form of repository (I think it's SCCM) the relevant drivers could be downloaded, or even better automatically found from a designated inventory, to which the computer would be in a usable state.

If anyone could point me in the right direction (or forum if necessary) with guides as to creating such a setup I'd be very grateful.

Thanks

Imaging a 7040 micro with SCCM, after PXE, its applying drivers (7040 Dell .cab drivers) in task sequence.
After installing, it reboots to continue and it crashes on boot and gives you the usual "start windows normally, star in safemode"  screen...
Seems like  a bad driver or something-- going to try downloading package again.
haven't seen this except with this micro.

thoughts?

Answer:7040 micro- crashes after installing drivers (after imaging using sccm)

I am having the same problem. I just downloaded the new A02 cab, but have not been able to test it yet. The funny thing is, I ordered one of these they day they were released. I had a ton of issues with the BIOS that an update months later ended up fixing. I still have that machine and it has a 500 SSHD. The new ones I just got has the M2 256GB SSD. Old one works fine, the new doesn't. I am curious to what your configuration is, and if you ended up finding a solution to this problem.
Thanks in advance,

Hi,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

From the device ID you have provided, it seems you are missing the Intel Management Engine Interface driver.

Go to Lenovo Support page, enter MTM number in quick path and find the Intel Management Engine Interface driver under chipset category.

Hope this helps!

Hi, My company recently purchase seven of these units, which look very impressive but has left me in the situation of trying to modify our current SCCM 2012 Operating System Deployment TAsk Sequence to include this model. We also purchased seven ?3005pr USB 3.0" Port Replicators to facilitate connection to our network, whicxh do not allow PXE boot. Hi, installed the Win7 x64 SCCM driverpackage on SCCM 2012, updated bootimage & Distribution points but I'm not getting any IP in WinPE. I can boot fine on F12 but when I enter F8 command prompt I am not getting any IP. The weird this is that if I manually load the 5.14.4.0 driver included in Lenovos SCCM driver package I'm able to get an IP This is the same driver I've tried to inject to my bootimage several times. Also tried to remove the 5.14.4.0 driver in boot image and updated with 5.14.11.0 driver from AXIS website, same result. I've had problems on another laptop getting IP in WinPE, but then I was not able to manually load the driver using 'drvload'. I'm able to do so now so this makes no sense to me. Appreciate suggestions, thanks./P

Answer:X1 Carbon: No NIC driver in WinPE (SCCM OSD)

I tried with the 5.14.4.0 included, tried with AXIS driver from their website (5.14.11.0) - still no go. What ended up solving getting an IP in WinPE for me was to inject the driver from Lenovos Win8 SCCM driverpackage into my bootimage. My only issue now is an error in the end of OSD: 0x80070003 SMSTS.log shows:Failed to open file: C:\WINDOWS\panther\unattend\unattend.xml (0x80070003) Everything seems to be installed just fine after reboot but it would still be nice to get rid of the error and understand why it's popping up. I install OS to C:\ Anyway ?

I have 4 M900 (10FG), out of the box, with the BIOS level at 41A. I upgraded two of them to the latest, 79A, and left two as is. I can install Win10 via PXE boot with the two desktops whose BIOS level is at 41A. The two with the BIOS level 79A, will not get the task sequence started. I have tried everything, by comparing BIOS settings to CLEAR CMOS but they do not work. Lenovo website offers only the 76A BIOS, but nothing older than that. I want to downgrade the BIOS level to 41A, install my Win10, then upgrade it to the latest. I have done that with the other two desktops with no issues.

Greetings, we received our first charges of Z440 workstations last week. We immediately downloaded the HP Z440 driverpack from http://ftp.hp.com/pub/caps-softpaq/cmit/HP_Driverpack_Matrix_x64.html and imported those into our System Center Configuration Manager 2012 R2. Of course we did use the Win 8.1 drivers to inject into our boot image and wie normally imported the Windows 7 drivers for the Windows 7 deployment.Well, unfortunately SCCM WinPE5 does not show any drives installed, even with the correct drivers installed. We even tried to import  the WinPE 5 driver pack and the drivers from SoftPaq download manager, but none of those seemed to work. Is there any known issues with Z440s drivers and SCCM? Please help me out on this, it's pretty urgent. Thank you & kind regards

Answer:Driver issues with HP Z440 and SCCM 2012 R2?

We were able to create a workaround with setting all RAID settings (including those of the eSATA ports) to AHCI. So now we see the drive. Still, with RAID mode we don't get any drives even with the correct drivers imported.

We are working to move our base OS to Windows 10.  I am able to image a Optiplex 7010 with no issues but having issue with Latitude 7470s.  I am able to PXE boot  to the Task Sequence list.  It kicks off fine, and the OS deploys without an issue.  The issues starts after the first reboot, the task sequence starts up again but fails once a Task Sequence needs network access.  We use Apply Driver Packages to deploy our drivers.  I have tried the Dell Drivers CAB package, the Intel drivers package, no driver package, and deploying all drivers.  Nothing has worked.  I have manually installed the drivers from the Dell Support page after failure and they apply fine.  I added those to the driver package but it still does not work.  I need to get this resolved ASAP.

I'm not having an issue with Windows per say, I am just having an issue with the fact that my coworkers keep on using Symantec Ghost. I am in the process of building up an SCCM 2012 server and they keep insisting on using 1990's Symantec Ghost. What they do is get a computer, sometimes with a reused image and what they think is "refreshing" the image by downloading Windows Updates and installing new software, sometimes without uninstalling the old software. In which after, they copy the computer and make it as a image that they use to deploy all over the place at our company (happens to be a plastic extrusion facility). We've got images with the wrong model computer and they think, just because it runs okay, it will work. We have all kinds of activation and license issues, along with quirky issues that never seem to get resolved.

I've went to trainings, did webinars, spent a lot of frustrating time on this SCCM and they are about interested in it as a kid is with a box of rocks.

It is amazing how well SCCM does at deploying images and managing systems.

In any event, any suggestions on getting my coworkers on board with properly deploying Windows?

Answer:Getting my folks off using Symantec Ghost and going to SCCM 2012

Welcome to the forum. Its a wonder it still works I was abeta tester for ghost long before Norton got it thats 20 years ago. the problem was with the SID as everyone could end up with the same one meaning all pcs seem to be the one pc to somethings. You could show them this from ghost forum it wont work with ten so at some point they wont be able to use it and recover Ghost 15.0 on Windows 10 | Norton Community

Hi! We just started getting Lenovo X1 Carbon's (awesome laptop) and we are having some issues getting our SCCM image onto them. I have the network dongle driver loaded into our PXE boot image and that part works great. The issue is that it doesn't seem to be able to partition and format the SSD drive in the machine. It fails everytime at that step. If I  manually format the machine using a windows 7 install tumbdrive, I can extract my image onto the drive but when it tried to reboot into windows I get stuck on the boot menu screen. When I select the local hard drive, it bounces right back to that same screen. We also got the T440s and M93 Tiny and I don't have this issue on those models. I am able to install and use windows if I use the Windows 7 installation media, just not able to deploy our image via SCCM. Im sure it is something simple that I am over looking. Some info on the config:SCCM 2012 R2we deploy our images with PXE boot (win pe 4.0)we have 32 and 64 bit images (same issue with both) - Windows 7 SP1 EnterpriseLenovo Drivers packs are importedLenovo SATA and NIC drivers are imported into the PXE boot imagetried resetting BIOS to defaults and also setting it to Legacy only and also UFEI only with no luck

Hi,
I am using the Windows 7 x64 Driver CAB in SCCM 2012 to deploy drivers to the optiplex 7040.
The "Apply Driver Package"  step is failing when trying to install the drivers, i receive the below error messages

DISM.LOG
CBS - Failed to unload offline registry ntuser.dat ACCESSDENIED
Unfortunately it doesnt give me details of the driver that is failing, otherwise i could just package the driver and apply it as a package.
All other builds are deploying fine so its definitely something thats only affecting the dell model, am using a 64 bit boot image already.
anyone seen this before?
I've seen some other posts which mention to use a 64 bit boot image which i already am, and this boot image works fine on all other hardware models.

thanks

Dear all,

Sattelite Z series laptops cannot install OS (win 8.1) from our SCCM 2012 R2 environment.

Either no installation is starting, or pxe boot aborted error is showed.
The environment is used to successfully install OS (win 8.1) on different other vendor computers (dell) and virtual machines (hyper-v and vmware).

I've tried both UEFI and CMS boot options and tried to switch off the secure boot. Please advice.

Also, i've read about the "SCCM installation package for Toshiba". Will it help in my situation or is it just driver packages for SCCM?

Best Regards, Evgeny.

Answer:Satellite Z930-14F - cannot install Win 8.1 from SCCM 2012 R2 environment

I guess you are speaking about this Toshiba package:
http://www.toshiba.eu/services/on-demand/business-computing/sdp120gs-v/

I don?t have much experience using such SCCM drive package but it definitely compatible with the Toshiba business notebooks. The Satellite / Portege Z930 belong to the business range and I think the package should be compatible.
This package seems to be for all IT administrators who manage devices on the corporate network with SCCM 2012 R2. Toshiba offers with the new Toshiba SCCM package a solution to integrate other notebook into an existing IT infrastructure quickly and smoothly and all Toshiba Driver and application packages and a demonstration task sequence are integrated.

However, it seems that you could get more details about this package directly from Toshiba [email protected]

By the way: The Win 8.1 installation requires the UEFI mode (in case the UEFI BIOS is available). But booting from another, external source requires the disabled secure boot option.
So maybe you should use the UEFI mode but should disable the secure boot option in order to boot from LAN.

Hello all:
A couple of weeks ago I received a 7270 for deployment testing. My company currently runs SCCM 2012 SP1 (not R2/no CU's) with the ADK for Windows 8.0 and we deploy to a variety of Dell laptops including the 7240 and 7250. When I tried to boot the 7270 using our existing boot media it did not detect the network adapter.
I downloaded the latest WinPE driver pack from Dell, injected the drivers into our boot image, and still no luck. I then created a WinPE using the ADK for Windows 10. Booting from this image also resulted in the network adapter not being detected, but when I injected the Dell WinPE drivers manually it finally showed network connectivity.
Figuring the necessary network driver is definitely in the WinPE driver pack from Dell, I have tried several different tests to get the driver into our boot image for OSD to no avail.
Is anyone else testing the 7270 and having any luck?

Answer:Deployment issue with Latitude E7270 from SCCM 2012 OSD

Hi,
http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds105362
We have SCCM 2012 R2. I was working on E7470 the other day and the I219-LM drivers found from Lenovo did the trick for both E7470 & 7270 models. Just import them, and add to your boot image.
It should be under here after you extracted the executable: C:\yada...\PRO1000\Winx64\. The NDIS62 and 65 folders in particular helped to get me going. (win7x64 and win10x64)
Though, there is still lots of work to be done to image these 2 guys w/o errors...Dell+MS...Sigh.
Good luck.

Hi A customer of ours is attempting to update the BIOS as a step in a SCCM 2012 task sequence. They are using the /sccm switch to suppress the automatic reboot after the BIOS update utility is executed as the SCCM task sequence will not continue after an unscheduled reboot. The BIOS Update utility used in conjonction with the /sccm switch requires a shutdown (not a restart) to complete the BIOS reflash and SCCM 2012 does not support shutdown in the middle of a task sequence. Does anyone know how a BIOS update can be achieved within a task sequence? Thanks Christian

Hi, I'm trying to enable the TPM chip using a script or program on multiple machine types and models. I can do this for all of my Lenovo machines either using the vbs scripts of tpm_activate_cmd, however, none of these work on the L420 and i'm assuming the L520 (not tested this yet). As a bit of background, I am deploying a new operating system to a couple of thousand pc's and laptops, all of the laptops will need to have bitlocker enabled and I can do this succesfully with all of my HP and almost all of my Lenovo laptops using various tools deployed through SCCM. the L420 is letting the side down though. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Answer:L420 TPM Chip enable for SCCM 2012 Bitlocker

L420 and L520 definitely don't support the VBS scripts.  At that time, VBS configuration was an advanced feature reserved for ThinkPad T/W/X.  VBS capability was added to L-series starting with L430/L530.

I haven't personally tried it, but I think the tpm_activate_cmd.exe method might work on L420 and L520.

Just to make sure you're using the right thing, try this version:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/62276273/TPM%20activation%20tool.zip

1.  Pay special attention to the readme.txt about installing smbus and smbios
2.  make sure tpm_activate_cmd.exe and i2cw.dll are in the same folder
3.  run "tpm_activate_cmd.exe /verbose"  from admin command prompt, and paste the output here

Hi,
We are trying to install Windows 7 x64 on a Latitude E7470 with SCCM 2012 R2. We downloaded the CAB from Dell (en.community.dell.com/.../11830.latitude-e7470-windows-7-driver-pack) and created a driver package from this like we always do.
The TS fails right after the drivers for the system has been applied. When I press F8 and type IP config I see that it is getting a 169.x.x.x IP address. If I try to renew the address with "ipconfig /renew" it updates to a valid IP. I tried to add this to the TS and now it fails when the applications are about to be installed (error 0x80004005/unknown error). If I check the IP now it shows a valid IP.
We have no issues with all other Dell models we are installing.
I have tried with two different E7470's to check if it was faulty hardware but it is the same on both machines.
Anyone else having trouble with this model?

Answer:Deployment issue with Latitude E7470 from SCCM 2012 OSD

Update:
I used a driver grabber software (ConfigMgrDriverGrabber) to grab the drivers from one of the preinstalled E7470's. Then I imported those to a new driver package and it works now.
Something is wrong with the driver pack from Dell but I don't know what...

I know there are many posts on this and I've gone through them all, but I am still having issues PXe booting a X1.  I have a USB ethernet dongle (the new type with the rounded edge). the part number is 0b67708. It's branded Lenovo but when I pxe it recognises it as ASIX AX88772b. So far so good. It picks up an IP from DHCP ok, recognises the hardware as x64 and then tries to download the \smsboot\boot.sdi file from the SCCM 2007 server. It waits for 20 seconds then falls over with the following: Status: 0xc0000001 - Info: The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible. Now, I have the the following drivers in the boot.wim file: x86 -1. Lenovo USB2.0 Ethernet Adapter 5.12.7.02. PCI bus3. Intel ICHR/DO/DH SATA AHCI Controller4. Intel USB 3.0 Root Hub5. Intel USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controllerx64 -1. Intel USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller I have tried using the ASIX drivers, all previous driver version, adding in the mass storage drivers, adding in the USB 3.0 drivers, praying to the PXe gods but nothing works. All other hardware works fine. Any suggestions greatly welcomed. Cheers - Mark.

We have many different models of dell computers and we image with sccm 2012 successfully on all lines BUT we're just getting the 7040 line and they fail upon disk partitioning component of the task sequence. I finally found the proper drivers for the network and now it fails consisitantly on setting disk partition variables.
I have resorted to bypassing all partition info and set it to install the OS to the next available formatted partition (which does exist) and still come up with the same error. 80070002 which is a very generic error. It is not the driver but something to do with the hard drive or maybe the compatibility or even UEFI (which we have set to legacy mode). We are not using UEFI.
The OS is win 7 Enterprise but it never makes it to copying the OS. It fails on the disk partition. they are seagate 500GB drives with 16GB RAM or 8 GB RAM (same with both).

I have been banging my head on the keyboard for three weeks with this one.
I built a 2008 R2 server with SCCM 2012 on it, connecting to a SQL 2008 server. They talk fine with each other.
SCCM has the boundary and boundary groups set up. I have ad discovery (tried with and without subnets) and those work.
Auto installing the client upon discovery works.
The clients find their MP and know their site code. All clients show approved (automatically) in the console - mpcontrol log lists 200 OK

The logs show that they prepare their scheduled eval and send it. When I initiate a hardware policy update, I can netstat and see the connection on various ports to the server
I ran wireshark (OPNET) and initiated a reinstall and can see communication between the client and the server and the server and the sql server.
Everything seems to work correctly, I find some errors in the logs, but nothing that jumps out as the cause.
The problem is all clients have components listed as not installed and only machine and user policy retrieval listed.
In the console, the clients show Client Check - no results, nothing under Hardware or Software scan
I have research THOROUGHLY on the internet on all logs as well as the issue I just described, tried a million things, redoing webdav, ccmclean, etc)
Any thoughts - they would be greatly appreciated!

Hello,
actually I want to update IE9 to IE11 on all machines via SCCM 2012.
Therefore I built a package with IEAK 11 and integrated all IE11 prerequisite updates (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2847882) to install before IE11 is installed (altogether 9 updates).

Afterwards I deployed the Full installation package (MSI) with SCCM 2012.
On some test machines the installation works just fine (silent). After a restart at the end of the installation updates are configured and the next time IE11 starts.

On one machine the installation stopped because of the following error (from IE11_main.log):

02:15.690: ERROR:   Error downloading prerequisite file (KB2729094): 0x800b0109 (2148204809)?
...
02:16.267: INFO:    Setup exit code: 0x00009C47 (40007) - Required updates failed to download.

At this point I wondered why this prerequisite update (KB2729094) should be downloaded, becuase I already integrated it with IEAK11!!!??? And also when I examine the IE11_main.log I can see that there are still other updates that seem to be downloaded even
if I integrated them into the IEAK11/Full installation package in order to be independent of prerequisite downloads!!! Attached the full IE11_main-log:

Hi there Wondering if anyone else has encountered this issue with a T440 with Intel SSD hard disk. Our firm purchased two Lenovo T440 laptops. One has a magnetic hard disk, the other a SSD hard disk. Here are the models: SSD hard disk:           Intel SSDSC2BF240A4LMagnetic hard disk:   500Gb 7200rpm HTS725050A7E635 We deploy our Windows 7 build via a SCCM 2012 task sequence. Building the T440 with the magnetic hard disk was trouble free. I built it repeatedly, and encountered no errors; our core applications installed successfully every time and the task sequence completed successfully every time. All well and good. Building the T440 with the Intel SSD hard disk has been frustrating. When I run the task sequence on this machine, 8 times out of 10 the task sequence will fail, either stopping abruplty at installing Oracle Single-Sign On or Appsense agents. When the task sequence fails it is ALWAYS at one of these two apps.  Frustratingly, sometimes the task sequence will complete successfully on this T440. Given we successfully deploy this task sequence to a variety of different hardware from different vendors, including other Lenovo laptops, I can only guess the Intel SSD hard disk is the culprit.  Has anyone encountred anything like this? I've went through the smsts.log file and other SCCM log files and can find nothing obvious. That this ONLY happens on the T440 with the SSD ... Read more

Starting with the basic info until I can get more detailed....
simply, when we got a demo OptiPlex 5040 in, it had a M2 drive.  We could not for the life of us get it to image--kept crapping out.  we put in a standard hard drive/SSD and it worked fine.
Now I will try to get more info, but is there any super-secret thing(s) we have to do to make this work with M2??
THX!!!

Answer:M2 "hard drive" and imaging with SCCM

B Keyed M2 goes to the sata connection directly   Non B keyed M2 goes to a PCI-E slot and isnt supported natively with windows 7.   There is also an M2 specific F6 driver.   Newer chip sets like the 100 series for example are not native to windows 10 nor are  the AMT SOL HECI Intel management drivers.
You must stand on one leg and make secret incantations to get this to work.
There is support for this but it is not free.

We are running SCCM Current Branch version 1706 and ADK 1703.  We just started having issues with the T470 TPM not initializing correctly during the OSD Deployment.  The TPM goes through the Pre-Provision steps without any problem but when we attempt to Enable Bitlocker and send the Key into AD we get "The TPM is defending against dictionary attacks and is in a time-out period." Error Code: 0x80280803 This is not a problem on any other model at this time.  We are also deploying M710s and X270 devices with the same task sequence using the same steps without issue.  Is there a step we need to take on the T470? This task sequence is deploying Windows 7 Machine is in UEFI mode with CSM support.  Secure Boot is disabled and TPM is set to Active version 2.0 Let me know what else you need to help get this resolved. Thanks!

I want to use a ThinkPad Mini Dock Plus Series 3 (170W) [pn 433830U] at work and a Lenovo USB 2.0 Port Replicator with Digital Video [0A33942] at home.I did not have to install any drivers for the Mini Dock and it worked just fine driving an external monitor. After installing the driver for the Port Replicator, I could no longer drive the external monitor when attached to the mini dock or the VGA+ video port on the ThinkPad.I played with a lot of things to fix the situation and nothing worked. I even uninstalled the driver for the Port Replicator and still could not drive an external monitor. In fact the laptop did not even recognize that an external monitor was attached.Later I found using the Device Manager that the NVIDIA Qadro 1000M display adapter was disabled, proabably during installation of the Port Replicator driver. Once I enabled that, I could drive an external monitor again. Can anyone tell me if this is normal? Will I be able to use the Port Replicator if I install the driver again?

Answer:Use ThinkPad W520, ThinkPad Mini Dock Plus Series 3 and Lenovo USB 2.0 Port Replicator together???

Hi, Flurry,     I use the Toshiba Dynadock with no such problems. They have a new, albiet much more expensive, USB 3 version out. Dynadock                                      ZZ

Hello, We have a problem with 2 laptops (ThinkPad X270) that "freeze" on the LENOVO logo when using Lenovo Ultra Dock with monitor Dell UZ2715H.Display Dell is plugged by Display port ports and one USB 3.0 (9 pin - used for display integrated webcam) connected to ThinkPad dock. When notebook turned ON with connected USB 3.0, computer freeze on LENOVO logo (To interrupt normal startup, press Enter) and work only when USB 3.0 disconected, or turned OFF and again Turned ON. Firmware on Dock is 2.33.000 Any suggestion?

Answer:Lenovo ThinkPad Ultra (Pro) Dock + ThinkPad X270 (20K6) + Dell UZ2715H

I am just going to guess that computer is trying to boot via USB, so you might try changing the boot order in the BIOS so that Windows Boot Manager or the HD is first.

I am having an issue where laying down the operating system (Custom WIM, Windows 7 x64 about 3GB in size) to a Lenovo T430 machines using MDT 2012 Update 1 is slow.  The install operating system/applying image, seems to hang around 20%, this process takes anywhere from 10-20 minutes to complete before DISM applies the unattend file.  While the process is ?hung? the hard drive light on the laptop is solid, so I assume something is going on but I still do not understand why the process seems to hang.  When I image an older Lenovo T410 laptop the WIM is layed down in about in about 5 minutes.  So it seems strange to me that a new laptop model would be slower.  I added new network card drivers and storage device drivers to out of box drivers and updated my deployment share.  I am currently using a lite touch deployment, so I extracted the ISO to a bootable USB stick.

I thought this was a driver issue but I am not sure now. Anyone else see anything like this? Below is a screenshot of the process I am talking about, although like I said above, it seems to hang around 20% or so.

Answer:Slow Imaging on Lenovo T430 with MDT 2012 Update 1

I'm experiencing the same issue with our latest batch of T430s laptops, using SCCM 2007 to deploy a custom WIN7SP1 x64 image: With the 1st shipment of T430s' we received (Type: 2355-CE8), our image deploys to a system in 31 minutes total. The WIM download + apply stage with this model takes 7 minutes during the deployment. With the 2nd shipment of T430s' we received (Type: 2355-2G8), our image deploys to a system in 97 minutes total. The WIM download + apply stage with this model takes 72 minutes during the deployment. Aside from an additional stick of memory and a backlit keyboard, these two shipments should've been identical. A quick device manager comparison of the two types shows only one major difference: the Type 2355-CE8 systems use a Micron SSD (C400-MTFDDAK128MAM) where as the Type 2355-2G8 use a Toshiba SSD (THNSNF128GCSS). If I swap the Micron SSD (from a Type 2355-CE8 system) into one of the Type 2355-2G8 systems and re-image it, deployment now takes 33 minutes total, and the WIM + download stage takes 8 minutes during the deployment. A 2-3 minute difference (total deployment time) is acceptable, but a 60+ minute difference is not.

When I dock the computer and press the power button on the dock it doesn't recognize my monitor as the main screen. I have to hit a key (Windows 10) and put in my password hoping that it's doing that and then the screen comes up. If I reboot after that ... THEN.... it recognizes my screen as the main monitor. How do I fix this? The only time this happens is when I use it off the dock and then put it back on. If it stays on the dock all the time it does just fine. Any fixes for this? Thanks...

I currently have my ThinkPad T440s connected to two external monitors via the ThinkPad ProDock 40A10090US (One VGA and the other DVI-D). I currently have the two monitors and the laptop displaying separate desktops. However looking at the laptop screen is a pain when switching back and forth between the two large monitors and the laptop. I was curious if my current setup with the T440s and the Pro Dock (40A10090US) could support three monitors (One cloning the laptop screen)?

Answer:ThinkPad T440s + ThinkPad Pro Dock 40A10090US = Triple Monitor?

I don't know if you can use both the on-laptop DisplayPort and the dock DVI-D at the same time, but if you can, you should be able to get the three monitors of output you want. Not sure if you can force it to clone the laptop display, but you might as well skip the internal display entirely.

I hooked the one Acer monitor directly to the monitor port, and it works perfectly.  I then hooked the other through a Triton SS2 Extreme UV200 External DVI/VGA Video Card as was recommended for me to do so.  The Triton has a USB plug which I then connected to one of the USB ports on the back of the docking station, and loaded the software.  Everything worked great but the 2nd monitor screen enlarges everything.  So I though I could just go into the control panel and adjust that monitors settings.  However, the system is only recognizing the monitor in the monitor port of the docking station.  In the connection directions, it says the 2nd monitor has to be connected to the other USB port that is not standard and is on the far left of the back of the dock with an emblem the has 2 "+" signs stacked on each other followed by a bold "D" (I think).  I have tried to see if there is an adapter to convert the standard USB to fit this other port, and no one has been able to help me.  Does anyone have any recommendations, idea's or knowledge of how to work through this?  Thanks.

Answer:Help with connecting dual monitors to the THinkPad Mini Dock 3 for my ThinkPad T 510

that is the Displayport, which can be converted to a DVI or VGA port using an appropriate adapter. But there is no USB adapter for the Displayport, as they use a different technology.

Does the Thinkpad P51s support the Thinkpad Thunderbolt 3 Dock? I have the Thinkpad P51s with stock Windows 10 Pro and updated to latest drivers and Windows version and installed the latest Thinkpad Thunderbolt 3 Dock drivers. Attaching the Thunderbolt 3 Dock to the P51s as described in documentation, it charges the notebook, however, noting attached to the dock is recognized. I've tested with attaching USB flash drives, headphones, Ethernet, HDMI, and DP, but nothing is recognized nor are any warnings/errors displayed in Windows. While the Thinkpad Thunderbolt 3 Dock is listed as being compatible with the P51s and T570, the notebook order page does not list the Thunderbolt 3 Dock in any of the accessories lists. Lenovo Sales also confirmed that the Thunderbolt 3 Dock is fully compatible with the P51s.  However, I needed to purchase the Thunderbolt 3 Dock separately from the notebook order. What's going on? Has anybody successfully used the P51s or the T570 with the Thinkpad Thunderbolt 3 Dock? Or is this something I need to wait for full support via a future BIOS/driver update? Or perhaps my Thunderbolt 3 Dock is defective? Thanks,Boris

Hello,The laptop in question will not charge with the above mentioned dock when it previously did. If you shut down the mahcine and turn it back on when docked it works, but after this point if undocked and docked again it seems to lose it's ability to charge via the dock giving the "plugged in but not charging" message on the power system icon from the taskbar. As it stands the laptop can be charged by the AC port on the back and as mentioned when given a power cycle on the dock. The above issue happens on several docks with different power supplies. The laptop is no longer in warranty and it is possible to get this sent back and repaired (paying for the service) if that is an option. This is greatly inconvenient for the user affected and is causing disruption daily.

Hi, I have several X1-Carbons that will not go to screen saver when attached to the USB 3.0 dock. All systems are running Windows 7 Pro, SP1. Latest drivers from System Update. We have tried changing PM settings but still stays active on dock. Off dock all systems respond as expected. The problem is my company has a 15 minute lockout policy based on the screensaver. Since the X1-Carbon does not comply we need to find a solution. Has anyone else seen this? Thanks, Ray Laureyns

Just got a new X1 Carbon.  Love the laptop (though memory utilization on this thing is high).  I'm not a fan of the USB Dock.  The position of the USB 3 port on the laptop and the USB 3 cord to the dock get in the way of using a mouse, and really clutters the desktop with all the power cords and USB cable.  I've had a couple issues with it also.  1)  Lost network connectivity.  A couple times now, I'll be working away, and Windows shows "Unidentified Network" and I can't get to anything.  ipconfig /renew doesn't correct it.  I power off the dock and power it back on and the network comes back. 2)  USB Wireless Mouse.  With the USB receiver plugged into the dock, mouse behavior is erratic.  I'm using a Logitech.  My boss experienced the same issue with a Lenovo wireless mouse, and reverted back to a corded mouse.  I moved my USB receiver to the laptop USB port and mousing works just fine.  I've double checked that I'm using all the latest drivers for the mouse and the dock, and system update doesn't have any drivers to offer me.

For your first problem, get a right angle USB adapter. I bought one of these:http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/181004002735?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649#ht_3782wt...I haven't received it yet, but no reason it shouldn't work. I'm pretty sure I've bought the right direction. The picture looks correct. They also have "left angle" ones which are still right angles - they just bend the other way.

Really odd issue I'm seeing, I've never seen before, Unable to get the usb and dock ports working on a new X1 Carbon laptop we deployed at my Company. Reinstalling Intel USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Driver will cause the dock to immediately be recognized (Everything Works). Upon Reboot, Laptop will no longer recognize dock, its shown as detached, also USB keyboard and mouse will also no longer be recognized even if plugged directly into laptop. Or, with no reboot, the Dock and USB ports will just randomly shut off and no longer work. Other laptops work fine with the dock, so its not a dock issue. Anyone have any ideas? ----- All critical Windows updates Applied. Updated All Drivers to most current version. Updated BIOS to most current version. Updated Pro Dock Software to most current version. Updated Lenovo Solution center to most current version. Not seeing anything that jumps out in the event viewer. Ran Hardware Diagnostics Again, Everything Passed.

Hi, Is it possible to turn on the X1 carbon when plugged into the dock without opening the lid?  I don't see a way.  I have configured it to not sleep when plugged in so that you can open it turn it on and close it.  Is the dock supposed to supply power or does the laptop need to have the AC adapter plugged in to charge? Does it matter what port I plug the dock into?  The SS USB 3.0 port doesn't seem to work with it.  No mouse or keyboard and the monitors keep switching between the laptop and the externals.

Answer:X1 Carbon and USB Dock 3.0 questions

you have to turn on the laptop by pressing the on/off button on the laptop, the usb dock on/off switch doesn't control the power state the laptop. Dock needs its own power supply. You would need to use the USB 3.0 port if you are going to use the 2 x DVI ports and higher speed transfer rate for your usb ports on the dock.

Is there a Graphics Adapter that will drive a second monitor that can be used in the ThinkPad Advanced Dock with a ThinkPad T61? Background:  I have a ThinkPad T61 (6465-CTO) running Window XP and a ThinkPad Advanced Dock.  I purchased a Lenovo 256MB ATI X1300LE Dual ? VGA or Dual ? DVI ? out PCI ? e Graphics Adapter so I could run two 24" (1920 x 1200) monitors.  I should have check notes on the X1300LE more carfully, for this configuration is not supported by Lenovo.  The failure mode is interesting.  The T61 can access a wireless router alone or in the ThinkPad Advanced Dock without the ATI X1300LE.  But if I install the ATI X1300LE in ThinkPad Advanced Dock I can no longer access the wireless router.  If I plug in the network cable then I can access the network.  In this configuration the Intel® Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN has a yellow circle with an ! on in the Device Manager.  The device status is ?This device cannot start. (Code 10)."  Note I have not tried the system with a second monitor yet.  Another option would be to keep the ATI X1300LE, and add a USP Wireless device.  Have anyone tried a similar configuration?  Sincerely yours, Marc

Okay, so I'll try to be detailed while being brief (if that is possible.)  I have a new Lenovo X1 Carbon that needs to be imaged using GSS 2.5. The only ethernet connection on this machine is a USB-to-Ethernet dongle. The model is an Asix Ax88772b. I am able to PXE boot to WinPE, but there is not an IP Address when booted to WinPE. I'm assuming this is because WinPE does not have the correct driver. I found this forum article: https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/lenovo-x1-carbon-imaging-ds-71-ghost and tried downloading the attached driver. I tried downloading the Lenovo driver from their site. I tried exporting the driver from the copy of Windows 7 that came stock on the machine. I tried downloading Lenovo's SCCM driver, AND I tried downloading the XP, Vista, and 7 driver directly from Asix's site. Whenever I try to import these into WinPE via the Ghost Boot Manager, it says "Failed to import driver (driver name). Failed to find any drivers to add." I have successfully added drivers to the preboot images previously using these steps:http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?pag... I have also tried throwing the drivers from these sites onto a flash drive, PXE booted, and used the "drvload" command to test them. WinPE says they loaded successfully. However, I am still not able to obtain an IP address. My brain hurts and I'm frustrated. Any help? Any at all? Because you would be my hero. I would yell your name f... Read more

I posted a similar question earlier and people referred me to the Yoga (much appreciated).  However, I was interested in the 2.6 lb carbon version with touch screen capabilities.  Asus has a Spin 7 model that is very good at 2.65lb, but I miss the red mouse toggle in the middle of the keyboard and Asus's track pad was designed too large....causing unintended tapping.  The Yoga, while nice, is heavier than I was looking for.  The 14 inch screen is about 3.3lb? the 12 inch at 3? I thought that some of the earlier Thinkpad Carbons had touch screen and was hoping they would make a return soon.  Thanks,

Hi,  We have a series of T60, T61 & older machines that are unable to PXE boot to SCCM. The T400 & X series & other newer models can boot just fine. After checking further, we realised that only a certain range of MAC addresses are unable to pxe boot i.e 00-1A-XXXXXXX00-1C-XXXXXXX range.. all the other range of MAC addresses are fine to boot via network.  The error when doing network boot  is "bad or missing discovery server list"  Also, we are running on SCCM 2012 at the moment. Our branch office who is running SCCM 2008 can have all the machines - regardless of models & brand boot just fine.  Any ideas?  Much appreciated.
