x100e Wireless Video Streaming SLOW

Question: x100e Wireless Video Streaming SLOW

Hello, I have a new x100e (Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit, 2GB RAM, 250GB hard drive). Lenovo Access Connections says my wireless connection is good (4 out of 5 bars on the indicator) and says speed is 72.0 Mbps. When I try to view video on YouTube, it plays 3 or 4 seconds then stops with the spinning circle in the middle of the screen for another 4 or 5 seconds then plays another 4 or 5 seconds, and on and on. It's made viewing video streams not worth the trouble. If it is something I really want to see, I'll pause the playing and wait til it all loads - which can be a while. I previously was using an S10 Ideapad w/ WinXP and never had this problem. What gives?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: x100e Wireless Video Streaming SLOW

I am also struggling with very slow data transfer speed in the same WLAN ThnkPad x100e downloads well under 10 Mbps. Strangely, the same metering service shows well over 70 Mbps with another Levovo PC, ThinkPad E320. I have done complete factory reset, all updates, including BIOS and obviously not running any CPU or bandwidth consuming applications while measuring the speed. In the photo you an see that the latency and upload sppeed are at same level, while the download speeds are massively different. Lenovo diagnostics didin't help to solve the issue. I would really appreciate tips to solve this.

For some odd reason, in the past 4 weeks, my streaming video has become VERY slow, and I do not know why. I have a high-speed cable connection, the same I have had for the past 6 months. It is slow, sound-with-stil-images and/or constantly rebuffering, and this is true with WIndows Media, Winamp, Realplayer and even Flash videos (on YouTube for example). I cannot take it anymore. My videos I receive and or YouTube videos and very slow and stop and start all the time. What can I do? I have Windows 7.

Answer:Streaming video - slow

This is mostly due to your internet speed. First, when you click on a streaming video, stop it and let the buffer load the video (the grey line ahead of the playing line). Once the buffer has completed downloading, start the video, it should play without interruption. To test your internet speed go to speedtest.net if your internet seed is .5 mb or less then it is too slow to play streaming video.

Do you wait for the video to fully buffer or download to your cache before you run it?

My PC (VISTA) keeps interupting when streaming videos. My laptop (XP) operating in wireless mode on the same Broadband router does not have the same problem. Have I got a virus on the PC . If so how do I remove it. I have McAfee, and Super Antispyware and have done a quick scan using Malwarebytes

Answer:Slow streaming video

Malwarebytes came back with results? What were they, clear?

I doubt it's virus related, else you'd experience it elsewhere, not just a slow video.

Can you please elaborate on the interrupting? We'll need to know what is actually happening.. Is the PC blue-screening, rebooting, crashing? Or is it just the video is lagging / jumpy? Or are you streaming to an extender and that's whats laggy / jumpy? Are you doing it over Wireless, Wired? Are you on a GIG LAN etc..

The more info we have, the better your chances of help!

I have telstra broadband liberty @ 20000/1000. I haven't used my allowance. I'm getting very slow video streaming with utube and various other video streaming sites. This has been happening it seems like forever.I can do all other things at good speeds(p2p,browsing,download files, etc)It has been suggested by a friend that i have a virus, I have scanned with my freeware applications(avg, spybot, malwarebytes) and they have come up empty. I feel i must add that i do get an annoying pop up regularly asking me to connect to the internet and when i try it says error 678 can not connect to the remote computer. When i cancel the pop up i am still connected anyway. I have spoken to my isp and they assure me everything is fine, it's just that i'm streaming from free sites and then they start pushing their own site. I'm confused and disappointed because everyone talks about utube and yet i have given up trying to use it.I have the latest adobe flash player and it will load, only very slowly. PLEASE HELP ME SOMEONE.

hi guys... I just want you to help me in this problem if its ok.. I have a Toshiba L510 notebook for about a year now.. about two weeks ago i was watching a video from animecrazy.net using google chrome as my browser. I just notice that the video took a lot of time to buffer which is unusual because before it was buffering fast. Then i browse youtube and watch some videos and it was fine and the video is loading fast. Then i tried other video streaming sites like megavideo and same situation with animecrazy.net. The video is loading slow... I was just bothered because all video streaming sites i browse except youtube are buffering slow...I also tried other browser like firefox and IE but the same happens..I am using windows 7 starter.. hope you can help me in this.. Thanks..

Answer:Slow video streaming

Does this happen all the time or only certain times of the day? I just ran 5 minutes of a video on animecrazy.net and it seemed to run fine. Have you tried pausing it for 3 minutes then starting it back up? I think that method may work best. Give it time to preload the episode and you should be caught up. animecrazy.net gets a lot of traffic I am sure, which means that its going to reduce the bandwith you are able to recieve through them, as is megavideo. I know with mega I have had that issue and had to let it buffer, Ill ussually start it, pause as soon as the picture shows, or ad dissapears, go grab a drink and bag of chips, come back and watch.

Hope this is the issue, as it seems it may be if youtube is running fine. If not, it could be a codec problem, have you loaded any codecs since the problem started? Youtube has a lot of 3gp videos, while the other sites most likely run mpeg.

I have the fastest comcast package available and I can download things at almost 3mb/sec but when it comes to streaming video, it sucks. Does anyone know why this is and is there a fix to this? Is there something I could go in and change?

I am aware of that. I told you that I can actually download files at close to 3mb/sec. When I do a speedtest at speedtest.net I get this . Everything else is really fast except video streaming

Answer:very slow video streaming

I would pause the streaming videos. The issue is that the videos have to buffer. While you maybe able to download fast, that doesnt mean the streaming video servers can feed you the video that fast. They have multiple connections that they have to feed at once. So everyone gets slower speeds.

Pause the video and let a bit of it get into the buffer. Then you should be able to watch it without any skips.

I am looking into getting a wireless setup for my home. Currently I have 3-4 computers in my home network and would like to stream DVD images, MPEG-2, and Divx files from my server to my HTPC using wireless. All other computers are wired. Which wireless system should I be looking at? I like Linksys with SRX technology. Is that sufficient and is there something else I should be looking at? Is there a big difference in speed between the SRX and one without? My main concern is enought speed to stream large bitrate movies. BTW, the distance from the router to the HPTC is about 30ft away on the same floor with 2 walls inbetween.

Thanks,

Ok, we just bought a brand new HP witha quad processor, Windows Vista Premium and have a DSL connection. We are having an issue with streaming video on the internet, mainly on apple.com. We try to watch some of the movie trailers on their site using the quicktime player. The movie loads really slow, so we have to wait like 2 or 3 minutes before hitting the play button. This is frustrating since I can view these videos on my friends PC which is older and has cable as their ISP. What could be the problem??

Cable is MUCH faster than DSL in most areas.

I'm not even sure this is a Mozilla problem but I didn't see a category for video software. I have an ASUS laptop with Windows 7 installed. I pretty much bought this to watch streaming video on. My most frequented site is LetMeWatchThis | 1Channel - Watch Movies Online Free - Just Added and my most commonly used streaming share site is putlocker/sockshare. I do not have cable, this is how I watch all my tv shows. This software always runs perfectly fine and out of nowhere two days ago everything is streaming RIDICULOUSLY slow. I've noticed it with putlocker as well as youtube. This is not an overloaded server because I've gotten onto Youtube at work several times at different times of the day and the 10 year old crap machines there stream youtube vids fine. I've had problems a couple times in the past and a plug-in check always solved the problem. Nothing is working this time. My plug-ins are updated. One forum suggested I uninstall and reinstall my adobe flash... did it: no difference. I've cleaned up my hard drive, deleted my temp internet files, history, etc., my disk defragmenter runs once a week so I know that isn't the problem. I've tried restoring windows to a date previous to the start of the problem and that also did nothing. I use the windows firewall program in conjunction with AVG free and I am not too familiar with firewall manipulation. Another forum suggested doing something with the firewalls but to be honest I'm too afraid to do it without pretty precise inst... Read more

I tried different DNS servers and doesn't make a different. I tried other browsers same issue. I don't know what else to do. It don't get why video streaming is giving me a issue. Any ideas? Thanks.

This has been driving me nuts. Where I used to live, I had Opt Online and didn't have any issues. I moved last December and my only choice was Comcast or Verizon DSL. So I went with a Comcast business plan as I use static IPs. I am using the same SonicWALL firewall that I have been using for almost two years and never had any issues. There are no firewall rules blocking my connection out to the Internet. The only thing that has changed is I now have Comcast and they provided me with a Netgear CG3000DCR router.

Anyone with Comcast probably knows that they have their own firmware on these routers and there is no official "bridge mode". According to Comcast they tell you to just disable DHCP and that is the equivalent of bridge mode. As far as I can tell, it does work properly when doing this. I was able to put the public static IP in the WAN interface on my SonicWALL without any issues.

Internally I have two Windows Server 2012 R2 domain controllers with DNS and DHCP. To rule out and DNS issues, I have tried going directly through Google and Level 3 DNS servers and also Comcast's DNS server.

I am having two issues. For one, it is very slow to load web pages. Almost feels like I am on DSL. Second, video streaming is horrible. It constantly has to buffer the video and I am talking about a 360p youtube video, or even CNN videos. This is on all devices in the house. Doesn't matter if they are wireless, or hard wired. Every time I do a speed test... Read more

Answer:Slow Internet Browsing and Video Streaming?

@OP

!. Get your own modem and router. Make sure the modem and router are separate devices. This is how you can ensure a quality modem and a quality router.

2. The slowdown you are experiencing is due to stupidly greedy ISPs. It's called peering and ISPs want to be paid twice (once by you for the connection and once by the content providers). Read up on peering agreements between ISPs and get informed. Then, contact your politician and complain. If that bastard won't do anything then don't vote for him/her.

Hi all,
This is my first post here in this forum and it is about my slow online video streaming on windows vista ultimate.

I have a brand new T61 (T7300, 2.0 GHz), with 2 gigs of RAM and extra 1 gig of turbo memory, a feature that core 2 duo processor technology supports.

I am using Time Warner's Road Runner 10MB/s connection and for the first few weeks (around a month and a half back) it ran absolutely fine but after that started degrading in terms of available speed.

I check my internet speed at www.speedtest.net regularly, and it stays usually about ~9300 KB/s (Down) and ~340 KB/s (Up) and even after staying at this speed, my video streaming on websites such as youtube and googlevideo does not stay continuous.

I am using Kaspersky AV 7.0.0.125 that keeps me (atleast I feel like) miles away from malware and adware. It does not have its own firewall and therefore I am using windows firewall itself.

Can someone please suggest what I should I do to make my video streaming experience better (or much better in terms of what I am paying for the Internet / month)?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Cheers,
AceKnocks

Answer:Online video streaming extremely slow

Did you ever figure this out? This is basically the same problem I'm having. Watching my processor usage and memory, I'm ok, but online videos are working horribly. I have a 7MB connection with Time Warner and have also verified the speed.

One weird thing I've noticed in addition to the slow load times in YouTube is that even when the slider has not caught up to the edge of the loading bar it will still stop and think.

My system has stopped streaming web videos. They do play after 30 mites to over one hour to allow them to buffer. Downloading video is equally slow - e.g. a 780 MB video might take upwards of 3 hours.

I originally suspected my Firefox browser, and switched to Chrome. At first there were signs of hope but soon the same stagnation started.

The system runs as expected. I use Adobe CS5.5 and run After Effects and Premiere with no problems. It is only when accessing online videos from YouTube, Vimeo, or most cites I've tried. My 8GB of RAM is nevern overloaded, but even with 4GB free it runs slow when downloading video. My hard drive has 20 GB free. The only time the CPU goes to 100% is during rendering some AE projects.

Also - it is NOT my Internet connection since there are no problems with my iPad on WiFi, and other systems have no problems on the same network.

Help!!

Thank you.

I am new to the forum so please bear with me - I have a few questions that have been bugging me.My internet access has previously been limited to dial ups on a work laptop. I plan to buy a laptop for personal use. I would also like to be wireless and in the next few yrs set up a network with a media centre pc for video streaming. 1. I am confused between the speed offer by my broadband provider IDNET (somewhere between 2-5mbps) and the speed of the router. Is it the case that the data arrives at my house at 5mbps and then I can send it around my house at much faster speeds?I assume that a speed of 2-5mbps will mean that I have to download HD broadcasts etc... before watching rather than being able to watch 'live'? Or have I just got this completely wrong?2. If I use the router to connect to the internet will one of the computers have to be on to allow both to connect to the internet? Is there any way around this?3. Can I just plug an external drive into the router to allow me to back up data or does it need to be connected to a pc?4. Any suggestions as to which router - I am happy to spend cú100. many thanks.

Answer:Which router/wireless networking/video streaming

<<< I am confused between the speed offer by my broadband provider IDNET (somewhere between 2-5mbps) and the speed of the router. >>>If you subscribe to a 5Mbps service with an ISP, you have a connection that will allow you to download at speeds of up to 5Mbps. Your home network, the connections between PC and router and between different PCs will run at 100Mbps for wired ethernet connections and 54Mbps for wireless connections using 802.11g protocol. <<< If I use the router to connect to the internet will one of the computers have to be on to allow both to connect to the internet? Is there any way around this? >>>When you install a router, it is the router and not one of the PCs which establishes the connection to the ISP. Okay HardForum, I need your help troubleshooting the bottleneck in my network.

The Basic problem is this; I am getting choppy video streaming from server to my wireless
laptop in the next room. Media player Classic is pretty bad, VCL player clears it up a
little, but still pauses to buffer a couple of times for a 350 MB file that is less than an hour in length.

Can I fix this w/o using a wired connection?
What are the limitations of Wireless G networks?
What/where is the bottleneck in the network?

A more detailed description:

Here is my setup.
Router:
Linksys WRT300N v1.1 running DD-WRT v24-sp2 (10/10/09) mega.

Stream From:
Windows XP Desktop
Intel P4 3.4GHZ
2GB Ram
5400RPM Hard drive
10/100Mbps Realtek RTL8139 NIC
(no wireless card)

Stream To:
Windows XP laptop
Intel Core 2 Duo 1.4GHZ
2GB Ram
NVIDIA Geforce 8400M GS
Hard Drive 4500RPM
Dell Wireless 1390 WLan Mini-Card (wireless G)
I don't have a wireless N adapter for the laptop

Here is an example to illustrate what I am seeing on my end. I am streaming a 349 MB
video file from my server to my laptop with a run time of 48 minutes 12 second. With
Media Player Classic I see stuttering(frame jumps) and stoppage(video stops for .5-1.5s)
right away during the introduction. With VCL player I see 3-4 stoppages due to buffering
interspersed throughout the duration of the video. (More so in the evening see below)

Answer:Problem Streaming Video through a wireless G Network

1st up, I`d have said the 5400rpm drive in the WinXP box with the realtek 8139 NIC, then I saw the chart with the Channel saturation. Surely channel 3 would be better for you with only 2x users either side!?

1st off, skip that realtek card, I`d use a decent quality Intel for replacement, done this myself recently and saw quite a noticeable increse in throughput.

2nd, maybe try running a cable to rule out the wireless side of things (if it`s still somewhat choppy it`s the server side hardware, if it cures it it`s almost certainly the popularity of wireless G in your area).

That is quite some use of the limited bandwidth allocated for wireless G, if you want to be naughty, set your location (Router GUI) to one other than yours and see if you can sneak onto one of the channels not normally available to you to see if that helps, not recomended though.

Lastly it`s time to upgrade the antennae on your router or better still, upgrade your router to a dual band one with wireless G and N if your laptop supports N that is.

Sorry just re-read your post, you don`t have N capability on your laptop.

Looks like your only options are, in order of cost (cheapest 1st(maybe))

1) run a cable (kinda defeats the whole point of having a latop though)
2) use directional antennae on your router (again you`d be kinda limited to where you can use it)

I have just noticed that there is one signal stronger than yours in the graph, "Looksea" are you closer to that AP th... Read more

Hi,
I am an WP8 user since last December and recently I bought a Seagete Wireless Plus HDD to use in pair with my iPad Air. As always with Apple I had to buy a media player that supports the most common video formats (.avi) with audio format (AC3). After I bought an app I was able to stream play all of my movies on my iPad. Then I decided to do the same on my Nokia 920 with Windows Phone 8.1. Unfortunately I found you that again those formats are not supported on the platform (only Android supports them out of the box). As it is .avi format I was shocked to find our this as it is a Windows format. So here is my questions:
Has anyone found a way to stream video's with .avi video format and AC3 audio formats from Seagete Wireless Plus HDD. On a side note I know there is not WP8 Seagete application but some videos are streamable via thir web application.

This is a bit of a complicated issue, and I'll admit I'm over my head on this one. I have a Gateway laptop running Vista SP1 that is connected to my home wireless network. The wireless connection will work great....except when I try to stream any video. Once I stream video, within 10-15 minutes of the video starting my wireless connection will go from Connected to Limited or No Connectivity. If I am doing anything else on the web, be it reading web pages, streaming audio, or anything else that does NOT involve video I will stay connected.

Here's where things get stranger, when I go into Network & Sharing Center to try to repair the connection, I'm unable to do so. If I try to disconnect from the network, Network & Sharing Center will stop responding and cause Windows Explorer to crash. Checking the culprit of the crash I noted that svchost.exe is causing the system to crash. Once Windows Explorer restarts, I'm able to use the computer normally, except when I try to get back into Network & Sharing Center, Windows Explorer will stop responding and crash. The only way I can resolve this is to restart the computer.

I originally thought that this was an issue to a recent Windows Update, so I performed a System Restore to before the updates, which did not resolve the issue. I'll be happy to provide any more information if asked later on, and any advice would be helpful.

Hi all,

i hope somebody can help me...

My computer is a HP Laptop Model Number DV2815EA running windows vista 32 bit. Its a few years old.

Recently i have had problems with my wireless adapter turning itself off whenever i watch videos online. It doesn't happen all the time, but if i am watching something for more than an hour it will cut off. There is a blue light and a switch on the front of the laptop, and when the wireless adapter is off, the light changes to red.

The light will change to red sometimes whilst watching video, and the only way i can turn the wireless back on is if i restart the system. Even if i activate and disable the wireless adapter using the external manual switch, or the internal controls using the wireless assistant.

As you can imagine this gets very annoying when i am mid way through a show and it cuts out!

Also, not sure if this is relevant but i can no longer either watch videos on full screen as the image gets jolty.

Things i have tried;

1) restoring the system to a previous restore point - i tried this but for some reason the only restore points i could find were ones dated after i started noticing the problem.

2) reinstalling the wireless adapter driver and video card driver.

3) running a full 6 hour antivirus scan - I am using Eset NOD32 antivirus and also i scanned using comodo cleaning essentials.

Any help will be greatly appreciated

I'm posting this here cause I really don't know where it's rightful home should be!

I recently purchased the Philips SLA5520 to stream my music from my PC (in upstairs bedroom) on my home cinema in the sitting room. Basically it didn't work. When I finally got it to list the songs on my PC, it just wouldn't play them! I got my money back!

So now what I'm after is something similar, but I don't want to stop it there, I want to be able to stream video clips and my photos also.

I know there are systems out there that do this, but I dont know what they are and which is the best. I don't want to have to bring it back again so I don't mind spending a few quid if it is worth it. Also wondering if the best solution is to buy a new home cinema with wireless technology built into it?

Hi,

I'll try to provide as much of the story as I can... hopefully some computer genius out there can help me, as HP Support evidently cannot.

I have an HP Pavillion DV6t-1300 laptop, barely 4 months old. Here are the specs:
Windows 7 Home Premium 64
Intel Core2 Duo T6600 @ 2.2GHz
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator/Mobil Intel 4 Series Express Chipset
Internet Explorer 8
Adobe Flashplayer 10
Windows Media Player 12
Java Version 6 update 18

From day one, literally, of using this laptop, it has had trouble playing streaming video online from any website. CNN, Youtube, ABC.. anywhere. I have another 2 year old Dell laptop (Windows Vista) that runs on the same wireless internet at my home and has no difficulty whatsoever with streaming video, so I'm inclined to think the internet speed is not the issue. (Speedtest.net reports 52 ping, .92 Mgbs download & .76 upload for my connection). I have Symantec Endpoint Protection software up to date on this problem computer. I've run CCleaner, downloaded 'Video Accelerator', and Microsoft Silverlight with no improvement to the streaming video problem. I've also updated my BIOS, updated my Graphics card driver, reset my Internet Explorer settings to default- no success.

The problem is that video will play- it's just super choppy and buffers unpredictably. Even the commercials before episodes on ABC or NBC don't make it through without stuttering crazily. I was told by the last HP rep I spoke ... Read more

Hello Bleeping comp.
I have a small Acer notebook which has been running fine up until this point.
Lately i have been having trouble using video streams from sites like gametrailers and youtube
the videos eventually load slower than usual but the sound is choppy as is the video, i can hear the the audio skipping very slightly.
Also the sound files (the opening startup sound windows makes, or the pop up error message sound) have been skipping and sound very choppy.

I haven't gotten any important error messages lately either.
If it helps i run VIPRE Antivirus software but it hasn't found anything that could be causing this.
Any help would be appreciated.

EDIT: i forgot to say that all other parts of my laptop are running smoothly which is why the problem is so confusion to me

When you say small Acer is it an Aspire One with SSD? If so I found a small program that makes it run as fast as my tower, it has no issues with streaming video or for that matter nothing else!

I recently bought a wireless card for my desktop. Previously I was using a fob-type usb adapter. When I used the usb adapter I was able to achieve download speeds of around 1 MB/s and stream 1080p video, but with the card my download speed maxes out at about 250 kB/s and it takes a few minutes for the same video quality to load, if it does at all. I'd ordinarily blame the card entirely for this problem, but when I test my connection speed with it, I get far higher results. Additionally, my upload speeds with the card can often rise to 500+ kB/s and are generally higher than my download speeds at all times. Just wondering if anyone could tell me what exactly is going on here.

Answer:Slow download speed and nearly impossible video streaming

Hi Alphabetter. There's more than one approach to troublshoot this. First thing that pops into my head is, since we ar edealing with wireless, maybe you are dropping packets. Do you know how to open a command prompt and use the ping command? I would try pinging something on the internet:
ping google.com -t
and let that run while you test some of those things you are trying to do. If you are getting a few timeouts, that would cause "slowness". Also, look at what the ping times are (latency). This is a good first step to troubleshoot such an issue.

Can you tell us a little more about your wireless service? Are we talking about a wireless ISP? And has your service contract or service level changed at all when you switched devices?

One question: Where are you getting 1080p content from the internet??? (if I may ask)

Have you tried cleaning out your temporary internet files?

HiI bought a belkin wireless G router a couple of weeks ago and have been having a problem with video streaming and downloading large files, it stops after a couple of minutes and says buffering but never gets any futher and with downloading large files it downloads at a normal speed for the first minute or two then the speed drops to zero. I tried updating the firmware via the belkin web site and this solved the problem but then when switched on the coputer and router the next day the problem was back again, I once again. I have tried updating the firmware again which again sorted the problem only for it to come back after I had powered down and restarted everything. I was wondering if it is a problem with the router not storing the firmware upgrade or is it something else?I am using a laptop with a 2meg virgin media broadband connection which works fine when it is connected straight to the modem. Many thanks in advancejoni

So I have a desktop computer that uses a wired connection. I also have a wireless router that my iPod touch uses to go on the internet. Whenever I stream videos (not on youtube, but on other sites) or play games that uses the internet connection like FPS games, the wireless internet would lag so badly. So when my brother wants to play FPS games, I can't go on the internet on my ipod Touch because the internet would be so slow and lags. I want to know why this is happening. Is it because of my router or my internet connection? Any advice on solving this so I can stream videos or play games AND go on the internet with my iPod touch at the same time? Thanks everyone!

Hello there members ,

I'm working on my mom's computer again. Last time I was here it had a bunch of viruses, and the good folks here helped a lot to get it functional again. It does not have a virus now, nor malware, but it is extremely slow. Trying to play music from Internet stations or watch youtube videos online is impossible, and overall it feels sluggish.

The Windows Task Manager shows CPU usage pretty low at 4% or so. 71 processes running which doesn't seem high to me. I see System Idle Process, CPU at 99? Not sure that's it though. There's probably about 55% or so available on the C disk drive. I'm about to defrag it and see if that fixes anything, but I'm pretty doubtful.

I've run all the usual anti-spyware (Spybot + Malware bytes), and anti-virus (Avira) but that hasn't helped a thing. What are some things I can do to troubleshoot?

BTW it's Windows XP on this machine. Any assistance is most appreciated

Answer:Slow Computer - Herky / Jerky Streaming Audio Video

Did you used to have the problem before your malware issues? Playing audio and video online could simply be an issue with your Internet connection. When you say playing is impossible, what does that mean, nothing comes out, stuttering.... Have you measured your upload and download speed? Speedtest is fine, if you avoid hitting the ads. What sort of things are sluggish? Page changes, mouse movements, programs starting up.........The System Idle process being 99 means it's not very busy! 71 processes does seem a bit high but these days every man and his dog wants to run a service on your PC. Mine are currently 54. I would have thought that during your malware removal exercise, others in this forum would have indicated what programs and services do not need to be running.

Hi Guys,

I have a PC in the study running Windows 7 Home Premium x86, and in the lounge a Samsung HT C5900 3D 5.1 Home Cinema System.
The PC is connected to the network via 802.11n, and the Cinema System connected directly to the router via an RJ45 cable.
Folder Sharing and Permissions have been set so I can access My Video's folder on my PC via the Cinema System and watch the video's on my TV :)

I have an online subscription with LoveFilm, and also watching YouTube video's on my TV would be cool! Is it possible?

Is there a way I can stream online content to the Cinema System via the PC?
I have herd people have managed to do this using similar equipment, one person via an Xbox. But I have no idea how.

Thanks, Dan

I live in South Korea. The internet here is unbelievably fast. I've done 3 speed tests tonight, and the download speed averages between 20-40mbps, upload speed between 40-75mbps. However, when I try to watch streaming videos online, it's ridiculously slow. And it's not just one site. It seems to be all of them. Youtube, Comedy Central, BBC, and MSNBC have all been really slow. I notice it the most around 10:00-11:00pm here (only because that's when I come home from work), which is right at the same time most Americans are starting to go to work. Is it possible that the United States 9-5 workforce uses up so much bandwidth on their morning rounds through the internet that it could devastate my access to streaming video here?

A brief synopsis: The majority of videos I try loading require an obscenely long buffer time (upwards of 20 minutes for a 2 minute video). Not always, but usually. However, oftentimes YouTube will only buffer the first 20% or so of the video. So after I play it for a little bit, it inevitably catches up with the buffer and I have to wait again. Even video quality as low as 240p still sometimes takes an awfully long time to load.

Does anybody have any theories? I was able to watch the presidential debate earlier today live just fine (10am here, 7pm Denver time). Am I just trying to play videos at peak bandwidth times? Are there any ways around this? Could there be another explanation? This has been a rather consistent problem since I got i... Read more

Americans use the Internet non-stop round the clock, so that's not the probable reason. I think your ISP is throttling your speed for videos sites. You should contact your ISP and complain.

Hi. New to the forum.I got my X100e yesterday. Main selling points were screen resolution, weight and eraserhead track as I am having some wrist problems. Config is single core with 1GB RAM which I upgraded to 3GB right away. What I am wondering is ?Did I get a bad one?? Here?s why I am asking? This is supposed to play 1080p video smoothly. It doesn?t. Nor does it play 720p smoothly. Nor does it play web video smoothly. Some video websites I use are jagged, pixilated and unwatchable. Firefox browser takes forever to load as does the built in Lenovo maintenance software provided.  The whole thing is slow, slow, slow.  My old Asus 1000h N270 1GB blows the Lenovo out of the water in every aspect but screen resolution.I have tweaked numerous things and closed down many background programs but still choppy unwatchable video. Klite Codecs installed. It also takes about 90 seconds to boot and once loaded it spends about another minute fully loading.Surely this can?t be normal? Did I get a bad one? Would the new dual core be any different?ThanksEd

i have a newly aquired x100e athlon l335. i know its now an older model but i love the concept, and in its current config it is nearly as fast as my thinkpad edge.

my current config:
Intel ssd
4gb hynix ram, "oem supplied 2gb, + 2gb matching numbers"
windows 7 pro 64bit
latest bios as of this morning

i have had 4 x100e's this is the only dc model i have, i can only recreate on the l335 dc model

i do believe it is a driver/software or memory issue, when i watch a video in youtube, may happen at other times but youtube is all i have tried, i can watch video up to 480, once it hits 720hd or higher the video plays great no audio or video stuttering, but i get black flickering lines in the display, it is kind of like the x120e flicker but unlike that issue where the line is at a fixed point, i get them in random places and increase n frequency as the video plays.

at this point im sure your thinking its a heat issue, but the mv40's i have run alot hotter than the l335, to the point where the keyboard warms up and they do not have this issue, unless the heat transfer gunk has started breaking down inside the unit, in which case i have new gunk to replace it, i dont want to open this system up unles i have to.

Moderator edit: Added model to subject.

Answer:X100e hd video flicker

update: the system hung on me when i went to turn it on tonight, i pressed the power button the light came on but the laptop did not respond, no lcd, no fan. i pressed the power button and nothing happened, pressed it again and held it, nothing, one more time and the laptop came to life, the power light never turned off. just went to make a video of the flicker and for the first time it did not, it flawlessly played the video, since i have restarted and shut off and turned on a few times with no incident, using the laptop to write this. only thing i can think of is memory, since the laptop was only flickering during hd video i think i can rule out hardware, ive updated drivers already but may try again. and since the video is routed through system memory, that may be the issue. i do have 2 more x100e's that i can use as a donor, but they all have the same hynix memory, one w/ 2 gb and one w/ 4, the 4th x100e i no longer have had bad memory is the hynix ram bundled with this system unreliable? should i replace the memory with a better brand?  ideas, possibilities? one of my memory chips dying?

Hello,  I have a new  x100e (Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit, 2GB RAM, 250GB hard drive).  Lenovo Access Connections says my wireless connection is good (4 out of 5 bars on the indicator) and says speed is 72.0 Mbps.  When I try to view video on YouTube, it plays 3 or 4 seconds then stops with the spinning circle in the middle of the screen for another 4 or 5 seconds then plays another 4 or 5 seconds, and on and on.  It's made viewing video streams not worth the trouble. This has been a consistent problem since I bought the machine.  Have updated everything I can find.  Wonder if it's too late to return this piece of crap to the store?  I have never had so much trouble with a brand new computer.  Very disappointed in Lenovo. Anyone else experience this video problem?  Anybody got a solution? Thanks.

Answer:Video stream x100e stinks

open up youtube and play a video. while it's playing do cntrl+alt+delete and open task manager.  click performance and look at the graphs.  how high is the cpu running?  how much memory is it using?  while you're in there click processes. how many are there?  your problem "could" be all the preinstalled bloatware that comes with these new machines. all my machines are older machines. i have 60 processes at the most and everything runs great.  if i have over 70 on it, it slows down to a crawl.  if you have over 100 that could be the problem.

Hello! Latest Lenovo package was released 2 years ago. This driver doesn't have HW video acceleration. So its not possible to watch HD on youtube. I tried install latest driver from AMD (12.6). HW acceleration worked perfeclty but I did not able to change brightness by Fn+Home/End buttons after connecting power adaptor in sleep mode. So here is dilemma: either HW acceleration or brightness controlling. Can I expect for video driver update? Or maybe there is solution to correct brightness control using AMD drvier?

Hi guys, I am completely new to the forums and to thinkpads. I have had my think pad for 2 months. Till yesterday everything was working well, until I decided to update the drivers. After it the wireless stoped working. Problem is exactly the same as:http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-Edge/Wireless-apparently-active-but-not-working/m-p/280548 However, the solution does not work for me. All my drivers are up to date. I did reinstall the Realtek driver, access connections and updated bios without any luck. Clicking repair does not solve the problem. The wireless is not shut off in the BIOS. Answer:X100e - Wireless is on and not working

Hello,

A couple of things to try:

Toggle the Wi-Fi radio on and off by pressing the Fn+F5 key combination.
Open the Device Manager (filename: DEVMGMT.MSC), remove the wireless adapter, then reboot and let Windows re-detect it.

Let us know the results of the above, and we can proceed from there.

Elite ThinkPad X100e laptop (ThinkPad X100e Holiday Deal ), AMD Turion Neo X2 Dual-Core L625, 4GB mem, Win7 HP, bluetooth, 3508-CTO, owned 3 days now and since the day unboxed i have had the same problem dissapointing.   all win and lenovo updates have been intalled, changed usb and wireless adapter power settings, in device manager, to never turn off when not used and any settings in access connection that auto turn it off at idle, power settings in WIN to keep pcie and usb and wireless on, even went as far to update the BIOS to the latest 1.28-1.22 with no change.  i can fiddle with it for 30-45min and eventually get it on after disable/enable a bagillion times but thats hardley worh it.  and to top that off i have to broadcast (make visible) my wireless ssid to even give it a fighting chance of reconnecting.  all of this after hibernating and its 50/50 once this happens that a restart will reconnect it... i don't mind calling for tech support but out of the box i get this? ...FAIL

I just got the new x100e and installed our Vista image on it. I have a couple of questions: 1. What wireless driver should I use for the wireless card to work. I downloaded the wireless driver from Lenovo's website Vista was unable to install the correct driver. In Control Panel, I still got Network Controller in yellow exclamation point. 2. I tried pressing in Fn+F5 but it says no wireless adapter present. How do you turn the wireless on? Is there a physical switch that you can just slide it on? My model is x100e - 3508.  TIA for any help.

Answer:x100e - Wireless questions

Hello,

I have used two X100e's (Machine Type: 3508-CTO) and both have had a Realtek RTL8192SE wireless network interface card in them.  From looking here at Lenovo's support web site, drivers do not seem to be directly available from Lenovo for Microsoft Windows Vista, but perhaps the device drivers for Windows 7 will work, or you may be able to find device drivers at Realtek's web site or through Microsoft's Windows Update service.

So, the Realtek card that comes by default with the X100e kinda sucks. It sucks a little bit in Windows 7, and it sucks a lot in Linux. As I'm looking to spend most of my time in Linux as the development I do is a pain in the rear in Windows, I was hoping to swap the wireless card out for something with an Atheros or even an Intel chipset. Now, I'm aware of the BIOS lock/1802 error that has been around in other IBM and Lenovo ThinkPads, so I would not be surprised if that's the case with the X100e. Has anyone attempted a switch on this? Am I limited to the Realtek or the Intel 5100 cards, or would any recent Lenovo-branded wireless card theoretically work? Is there a way to sniff for the allowed cards in the BIOS? I may pull apart a T61 this week just to see if that card works in the X100e, but if anyone has immediate answers, that would be awesome. Thanks!

Answer:X100e Wireless Replacement?

Hello,   The X100e uses a half-height Mini-PCIe card, so you will need a card that is in this smaller form-factor.  Here's a list of half-height Mini-PCIe cards you might try: Atheros AR5B95 (Atheros AR9285 chipset, 802.11b/g/n)Broadcom BCM94312 (Broadcom 4312 chipset, 802.11a/b/g)Broadcom BCM94322 (Broadcom 4322 chipset, 802.11a/g/n)Dell Wireless 1397 (Broadcom 4312 chipset, 802.11b/g)Dell Wireless 1510 (Broadcom chipset?, 802.11a/b/g/n)GigaByte GN-WS32L  (Ralink RT3090 1T1R chipset, 802.11b/g/n)Intel WiFi Link 1000 (112BN_HMW chipset, 802.11b/g/n)Intel WiFi Link 5100 (512AN_HMW chipset, 802.11a/b/g/n)Intel WiFi Link 5150 (512ANX_HMW chipset, 801.11a/b/g/n, WiMAX)Intel WiFi Link 5300 (533AN_HMW chipset, 802.11a/b/g/n) This list was put together in large part by looking at seller's descriptions through eBay, so I am not 100% certain of the specifications.  Be sure to verify as best as you can that the device will work in your X100e.  Also, the Intel cards reportedly only work in notebooks with Intel CPUs and chipsets. Regards, Aryeh Goretsky

hey all this is my first post to the forum.  I bought my x100e about three months ago, and the wireless internet has been dropping.  i've done some research and see that this could be due to some power settings or updating to the newest thinkvantage version.  well ive done both of those things and they havent helped. has anyone found a definite way how to solve this?  its a shame, this is the only complaint i have about the laptop, which is really becoming annoying.

Answer:x100e wireless dropping

One of the problems with windows 7 is that there are power settings everywhere.  You might have missed one. control panel, power options, change your plan settings, change advanced power settings, wireless adapter settings, power saving mode, make sure that maximum performance is chosen on battery as well as plugged in. Then in control panel, device manager, open your wireless adapter, under power management, uncheck, "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power." That's just in windows.    It should be checked by default, but make sure wake on lan is enabled in the bios. If you're using access connections, there's power settings in there also. I don't use access connections but I think the settings are under global settings. oh yeh, almost forgot, welcome to the forums.

Perhaps a kind soul can help before I jump out a window. Just reinstalled Windows 7 on a x100e (350828u) which had a bad hard drive. Windows installation went perfectly and I was surprised to see that more drivers than I expected seemed to be installed right away. Screen resolution was perfect, LAN and sound worked. There were two ? marks under Network Adapters in Device Manager, so I figured one would be the wireless card. Anyway, I immediately installed Windows updates, including most optional ones having to do with the hardware and software that Windows detected as being there. This included the touchpad drivers and a few other things. When I rebooted the ?s were gone in Device Manager and replaced with: 11/b/g/n Wireless LAN Mini-PCI Express Adapter IIRealtek PCIe GBE Family Controller Thinking I was now good, I disconnected the ethernet cable. In the system tray was the usual wireless icon but with a red X through it. No networks detected and I could try troubleshooting or go to network and sharing center. I did the troubleshooting and nothing. So then I installed the Thinkvantage software, thinking it would automatically find the problem and prompt me with the right driver. It has done nothing. Searching here it seems that the wifi may need to be turned on somehow. There's no physical switch and Fn - F5 does nothing. In fact, no hot keys seem to work so I downloaded and installed  what seems to be the obvious ones. Nothing. Then I tried inst... Read more

I just got my new x100e laptop today, and i really like it. But, it has a problem.  I am connected to my wireless network at home, and it works properly on my other computers at house. But on the x100e, the connection drops from time to time. Suddenly, the internet is gone, but ten seconds later, the network is back up again. It's not that big a problem, but it is frustrating to lose the internet from time to time. It happens from every 5 minutes to once 30 minutes. Anyone knows what my problem is? Thanks

Answer:X100e Wireless connection problems

Hello,

Troubleshooting a problem like this can be tricky, because there are many variables involved.

Perhaps the problem is due to an outdated device drivers.  Have you tried running the ThinkVantage System Update software to verify you have the latest device driver software installed for the X100e's hardware?

Also, what operating system is running on the ThinkPad X100e? Having that information can help us determine what steps are needed to help you troubleshoot the problem.

There was a different thread addressing freezing and hanging when connected via ethernet; however, I have had ethernet disabled from the BIOS since day one of receiving my system but I found my system to be locking up extremely often particularly when connected to the Wi-Fi at Purdue University.     For reference:  The wireless network at Purdue University uses WPA-Enterprise with PEAP + Thawte Security Certificate.      Naturally, I had the latest BIOS (1.25) and had all the updates available from ThinkVantage System Update, but this did not seem to help any - when I was browsing on my university network it would simply hang and freeze up completely every 30 minutes or so, forcing me to restart the system.  It would seem to freeze regardless of whether or not I was even doing anything on the internet. There did not seem to be any serious issues on my home network, however, which used WPA2-Personal, but I do not really use my x100e at home enough to say for sure.       I was quite convinced that there was some sort of problem with either the wireless adapter drivers or some sort of power saving feature at this point, so I uninstalled the Lenovo x100e wireless drivers and obtained the newest drivers for the RTL8192SE chipset directly from RealTek and installed them.     I then went and disabled "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save powe... Hello, So far, my networking results with my ThinkPad X100e have been very good, but I have only used it on a few networks. Have you tried using your ThinkPad X100e on different wireless networks to see if the results vary?  Perhaps the problem occurs with wireless networks that are configured in a specific fashion or using specific hardware.  Connecting at a local coffee shop or public library or other venue with wireless Internet access may provide a different experience.  Regards, Aryeh Goretsky

We are the proud new owners of many X100e notebooks that we are distributing to our employees.  As these shipped with Win7 Home Premium we are required to install Win7 Enterprise on all.  We are experiencing an issue with the wireless drivers we have downloaded from the Lenovo site.  While the drivers installed correctly, show no warning or error messages the unit will not connect wirelessly.  It sees our wireless network fine, allows you to select the network, but then tells us it is unable to connect - would you like to trouble-shoot.  Any suggestions on how we can get the wireless NIC to connect?  Any step we may have missed? Thanks. Ned Forster

Answer:Wireless Issue with X100e and Win7 Enterprise

Need some more details...

32 or 64 bit Win 7 Enterprise?
Are you using Access Connections?
What version of driver is installed?
Was the WLAN driver installed via Setup.exe and not an INF install?
Did also install Hotkeys, Power Management drivers and such as well?
What encryption are you using?  (WEP, WPA/TKIP, WPA2/AES)
What authentication are you using? (PSK, PEAP, TLS, etc...)

Will they connect to other wireless networks?  (like at home or a hotspot?)

Had my new x100e (Windows 7 Home Premium, 2GB RAM, 22GB hard drive) about 3 weeks now- trouble is it drops the wireless connection consistently and regularly every three minutes- I've sat and timed it.  Then it will immediately start reconnecting.  Have used the laptop at home, at a coffeeshop, and at my university campus.  Same behavior at each location.  I bought this to replace my lenovo S10 netbook- which I absolutely lloved and never had a minute of trouble from with daily heavy use so this is disappointing.  Also currently using Word 2007 trial and it goes buggy on me fairly regularly- won't save- claims not enough memory.  I copy my text, shut down Word, reopen Word and paste my text back in, and then it will let me save.  Again, disappointing given my last experience with a lenovo product was so outstanding.  I'm thinking maybe the Word issue has something to do with Windows 7?  But my main concern is the wireless dropping-  Should I return the computer?  Thanks for your help.

Answer:x100e regularly dropping wireless connection

the wireless probably is because of windows 7 also.  part of the problem is windows 7 is infinitly adjustable.  are you using lenovo's access connections or windows?  if you're using windows go into control panel, power options,  click high performance, then change plan settings. then click change advanced power settings.  then click wireless, then power saving mode, and make sure that on battery and plugged in both say maximum performance.  try it that way for awhile and see if it is any better.  those settings will lessen your battery life a little but you could play with the settings and when you get it to where you want it you can make a power profile for those settings if you want.  if you're using access connections i believe the settings are in the global settings. i don't use access connections so i'm not sure about the settings.

Answer:Problem updating Thinkpad wireless driver on x100e

Hello,

It sounds like the update requires higher privileges to install than are currently available under the logged-in user's account.

Try going to the C:\DRIVERS\WIN\WLANRLTK\ directory, right-clicking on the SETUP.EXE file, selecting Run as administrator from the popup context menu, and then accepting the User Account Control prompt to allow the software to install.

Does that make any difference?

I recently installed Windows Service Pack 2, actually three times after reinstating my computer software to the original state by erasing and reinstalling the full software install CD on my computer's hard drive for Window XP Home. I have no problems playing games with my new FX 5200 Ultra video card by BFG, but I am at random times getting the annoying green screen that blanks out my videos I am streaming or playing(happens when I am streaming more often). Then after that happens usually, the computer reboots or shuts off. I never had this happen before. My computer's memory tests ok so why can I play games with this never happening but when I am streaming or watching video through Windows Media Player, etc do I get the "green screen blankout" and then often the shutdown of my computer? I have 512 MB of system memory and 128 MB of video memory! I use System Mechanic and it shows I have at least half of my memory even during playback so what is the problem here? I can attach my system computer file of my information if you like in an e-mail if it will help. AND YES I HAVE THE DIVX CODECS. I thought about that to and uninstalled and reinstalled them with the same random problems. PLEASE HELP ME. This is really annoying.

Answer:video playback and streaming. Video card problem or software?

Well, it seems u dont have a hardware problem. this problem occurs only when u r watching videos. so i guess its the media player. take my suggestion, stop using it. Download this pack: KLite Codec Pack. I think the latest version is 3.2. Its got all the codecs u need to play compressed videos, and dvds. Its also got an advanced media player which can play any video u open it with like wmv, dat, mpg, rm, mov, avi, divx..... of course, the codecs for these formats r included in the pack.

Hello tenforums members,
I upgraded my Lenovo U310 laptop from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 a week ago. Everything seems to have upgraded successfully. The only problem that I can find is that none of the video streaming from Windows 10 apps can be played. I get an error 'Unsupported video type or invalid file path' when I click on a video article in USA Today or when I try to stream video from any other apps, NBC News, MSN Money, etc... from Windows 10 store.

I have no issue streaming videos from any of the browser though. What could be missing that could cause video streaming to fail? I would appreciate any suggestions or comments. Thanks.

Hi,
I was able to resolve the issue by disabling all hardware enhancements for Conexant Smartaudio HD. Here are the steps I took to resolve it, in case someone else runs into the same frustrating problem as I did: Right click on the speaker icon on the lower right hand corner -> Playback Devices -> Disable all hardware enhancements -> OK -> Reboot. That's it!

This has been happening on and off ever since I started with Win 10 and its always very annoying .

System just hangs, no error message, no bsod, just complete freeze and loud hum.

I cant say I can remember having issues watching youtube videos, its the streaming of live content such as filmon. Sometimes I can watch filmon for days and not have the issue and then randomly it will start again. Today I was watching hypermole playing on twitch tv (live) and it just happened. Getting tired of it.
I can also report having all my video content display as a green screen after using hyper v although that may be totally unrelated.

As far as I am aware, I'm using the latest drivers for my graphics, I always try update everything. I have attached the log files as requested.

Just looking for suggestions from you guys who have done this type of project on video appliances or video servers and the hardware to connect the 5 screens.

IObit software is known for causing problems, I would highly recommend that you remove it and revert back the changes it made when it comes to drivers.
DB3 may install corrupted or the wrong drivers what may cause problems,Malwarefighter is IMHO garbage,Advanced SystemCare may cause more harm than good
About the uninstall program I can't tell you anything, because I have no experience with it and I prefer to keep it that way.

I have a T60 thats turning age 5 coming this Sep 2011 and it is solid as a rock and still works perfectly without any pinch of flaw. Any suggestions? I'm running an intel i7 on Win7 ATI Mobility Radeon HD 58XX graphics card. I have tried upgrading my drivers, to no avail...

Answer:Solved: Streaming Video - Audio, no Video

I found the solution on another website - disabling hardware acceleration by right clicking on the video and going to 'settings' resolves this issue. Then the browser needs to be restarted.

Apparently its a fairly common problem with the current Flash build.

Hey guys,i'll just get straight to the point here,i have a BT home hub version 2(the black colour) router to which i am connecting to via a Belkin n Wireless adapter.the internet itself is running relatively slower than usual, whenever i try to watch videos on youtube or on the iplayer.co.uk,it keeps buffering,i have to wait so long for it to load to actually watch the thing.Recently the engineer was at our house and found no problem with our connection, inact, our ISP told is that there was no problem whatsoever with our line.An hour before the engineer came to our house,i accidently uninstalled the wireless adapter and re installed, this appeared to fix the problem (for a week) and now,it has went back to being slow again,i have tried many things, such as checking for viruses, cleaning temp files, turning off hardware acceleration, changing wireless channel, disconnected and reconnecting, restarting the pc,restarting the router, this is the same for my laptop also,i really need to find a solution to this as it is driving me mad! could this be due to interference,or perhaps a conflict between belkins adapter and the router? i dont understand how it was fine when i accidently uninstalled and re-installed the adapter, and then i repeat the same thing to try to fix it again and it doesn't work, please,if you know anything of how to help me with this problem please reply

i am also using windows vista home premium
thankyou very much in advance

Tried youtube and several other tubes, very little will play. Reinstalled flash player, no effect. Turned off my firewall, no effect.I'm using a NetGear router with built in firewall. It's set to allow anything/always so shouldn't be blocking, but it might be.I can't find out what ports to open for streaming video.I also need to know how to set McAffee firewall to allow youtume.com access to the net?Can anyone help.

Answer:Streaming video won't come down

I don`t think the Netgear router can be the problem: I have one and access YouTube videos OK.Never having used McAfee firewall, I cannot comment. I use ZoneAlarm pro which has been set not to block YouTube.

Hi! Some time after I'd installed Windows Media Player 11, audio stopped working when watching a streaming video (like CNN Pipeline etc.). Some servers offer a RealPlayer stream as well and there's no problem watching that, but when the stream is in Windows Media Format, the WMP plugin in Firefox is used and I can watch it, but I can't hear anything. I downloaded&installed Windows Media Codecs from Microsoft.com and it didn't help. I uninstalled WMP11, but the previous version (WMP10) does the same.

When I copy the address of the video stream and open it in VLC Player (or WinAmp), it works fine, so there must be some problem with WMP.

Does anyone of you know what to do? Or is there any chance of changing WMP Plug-in in Firefox for a different one - i'd like to be able to watch streaming videos embedded in wep pages as before.

Answer:Streaming Video & WMP

solved... reinstalled my codec pack and everything runs smoothly.

Question: No Streaming Video

I have a balky computer that has a hard time navigating to websites, downloading, or following links. Nearly all scans by malware detectors are impossible as are updates to existing software. I first noticed that we could not view an entire music video and now we usually don't get through the ad that precedes most videos. After many tries I was finally able to run a PC-Cillin scan that found threee objects;Java_Bytever.BJ, Java_Bytever.dl and another that has an extension that I can't remember. On a subsequent scan it did not find any malware so I think that they are, somehow, now hidden. Spybot and Adaware gave me a clean bill of health also, but I could update neither of them before the scans. Here is HJT scan:

Question: Streaming video

I'm planning a trip to New York, and have been looking at a website where web cams are positioned to look at different areas of the city. I don't get a picture when I try to use the cameras, only a red "x" in the box, and a window appears saying "disabled". Can anyone tell me how to enable this function. Thanks

Answer:Streaming video

Point us in the direction with a link to the website, then we can see if we get the same?
