External Monitor/Beamer doesn't work with X1 and Lenovo Displayport/VGA adapter

Question: External Monitor/Beamer doesn't work with X1 and Lenovo Displayport/VGA adapter

HelloI use a Lenovo TP X1 (Type 12942NG)After a crash I setup the laptop with a original MS Windows 7 Pro CD. I can't recover from a Lenovo Recover DVD. I use the Lenovo System Upgrade Tool to install all drivers etc. But the displayport with the VGA adapter doesn't work. It's not a hardware problem. When I boot linux the VGA adapter works. When I connect to a external monitor or beamer the system detects that. When I use the function "clone display" the buildin display reduce the resol. but no signal to external display. When I use the function "extend display" the buildin display is dark (but active !) an also no signal to external display. I read also the blog how-to connect an external display. there is mention to use the "Extended Settings" Link after select the external monitor but in my case this Link isn't active. Any hints for this problem ? Regards Gerald

Preferred Solution: External Monitor/Beamer doesn't work with X1 and Lenovo Displayport/VGA adapter

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: External Monitor/Beamer doesn't work with X1 and Lenovo Displayport/VGA adapter

Hi ederg:

You may want to download/update: Monitor file for Windows 7 (Thinkpad)

The reason I say that is because the readme it states, "If you use the preload environment, you do not need this package. This package is required when you install Windows OS without the preload image."

Since you setup the Thinkpad with Windows 7 Pro CD and no longer have the preload image, this may fix the problem.

Also, have you checked the website for the displayport manufacturer? They may have updated drivers there that wouldn't have been on the update tool you used.

*Edit* You can also check the: External monitors issues section here. It goes over some basic troubleshooting you may want to try first (I just came across it now)

Let us know how it turns out!

Basically my question is how do I change my default boot display to DisplayPort instead of DVI?
DETAILS
Looked all over and couldn't find a solution. My computer only allows me to boot up in DVI and nothing else. My motherboard and monitor support HDMI and DisplayPort but I've only ever gotten them to work as my secondary displays. In the past I ignored it because I had multiple monitors and could just use one with DVI and it would boot on that one and when it popped up with windows it would change my main display to the other one which was using DisplayPort. Now I only have one monitor and both DVI and DisplayPort are plugged in but only DVI will work. It is the same monitor that worked as a secondary monitor with the same DisplayPort.

I am currently running Windows 8.1 64-bit. I've searched for any similar posts about this issue and found Dual monitors problem - VGA and Displayport pretty helpful and followed the following mentioned instructions: 1. Updated my BIOS using BIOS Update Utility for Windows 10 (64-bit), Windows 8.1 (64-bit), 8 (64-bit), 7 (32-bit & 64-bit) -.... After the update, I checked my BIOS main and the following relevant details are shown: - UEFI BIOS Version: GJET87WW (2.37 ) - UEFI BIOS Date (Year-Month-Day): 2016-01-122. Set Boot Display Device option to "Digital on ThinkPad", in BIOS -> Config -> Display.3. Downloaded and installed Lenovo USB Display Driver for Windows 10 (32-bit, 64-bit), 8.1 (32-bit, 64-bit), 7 (32-bit, 64-bit) ....4. Installed Intel HD Graphics Driver for Windows 8.1 (64-bit) - ThinkPad. After doing the above instructions, and checking Screen Resolution (at Control Panel\Appearance and Personalization\Display\Screen Resolution), the laptop still doesn't recognize the connected monitor using DisplayPort. I would like you to provide me a solution for my request ASAP.

Hi

I have a problem connecting displayport with samsung C3F791 monitor

Machine
Lenovo ThinkCentre M910q Tiny Core i7-7700T, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, Windows 10 Pro

Monitor
Samsung 34" LED Curved FreeSynC C34F791 3440x1440 VA, 100hz, 4ms, Quantum dot, DP/2xHDM

* Have tried different DP cables
* Have tried both display port settings v1.1 og V1.2 on the monitor

It is only Display port - HDMI that works. I had a picture with DP-DP at first after changing setting to other DP version on the monitor. I then plugged in a logitech conference cam. Then DP-DP didnt work anymore and i had to go back to DP-HDMI to get a picture.

Any suggestion would be much appreciated.

All the best.

On my X1 Carbon 2015 I try to use two external Dell screens with  size 2560 x 1440  pixels. I attach the adapter with the mini DisplayPort contact on the computer to the DisplayPort contact on the adapter and then two screens with the DisplayPorts on the other side of the adapter. Nothing happens on the compter or screens. It does not work with attaching only one of the screens on the other side of the adapter either. Without the adapter it works fine with one screen and full resolution on both screen and computer. I hoped if both screens were active one of them would take the role of the computer screen which would inactive. I assume 2 x 2560 x 1440 is the total amount of pixels available. Is that correctly understood? Or is there anything wrong with the adapter. How can I test if that is the case?

Dear folks and experts, My T410 (2522W2A) started developing a quite weird issue recently: When I connect an external monitor/beamer to my notebook and switch via Fn+F7 to presentation mode the system crashes with a bluescreen. See here:  The weird thing is that the system only crashes if I have an external device (monitor or beamer) connected to the VGA port of the thinkpad. With no device connected there is no crash! As of April 10, 2013 my system updated its graphics drivers via Lenovo System Update 5. That is when the problem started. Therefore I suspect the new driver (version 9.18.13.1100 / 1.3.18.0) to be the cause of the problem. Particularly as the bluescreen hints a connection to the file nvlddmkm.sys (a file of the Nvidia driver). A google search results into a lot of hits connecting this file to bluescreens on systems using Nvidia grafics and drivers. I have deinstalled/installed the driver delievered by Lenovo twice already with no solution. Any further hints from you guys?  (PS.: This is my sixth Thinkpad. There was a time when my T40/41/60/61 systems ran without problems for years, years and years. No bluescreens, never! Since updating to the T410 I constantly seem to fight with tech glitches... Sorry to say that at least from my point of view this is utterly annyoing!)

Hi everyone,

I rebuilt a laptop running Windows 7 Pro 64-bit and made sure all the drivers are installed by checking Device Manager. But for some reason, the external monitor doesn't work when I use a VGA cable from laptop to the external monitor. I'm 100% sure that the cable, the VGA ports of laptop and monitor work fine.

As some more additional info, I realised that Sleep mode is greyed out as default on the START menu. I tried to install the laptop's original video driver rather than using the default one but i got a pop-up message saying "Your computer does not support the minimum requirements for installing this software."

I provided all these details since I thought they might be related to each other.

What could your suggestion be for this problem?

Is there any Group Policy rule(s) on Computer Configuration that blocks/disable Sleep mode, using External Monitor and the installation of Video Driver?

If there is, could you please let me know where I could find those rules? The only suspect I have is some pre-configuration made on group policy rule(s).

Please let me know what you think about this issue.

Thanks for your help from now on.

Regards

W520 laptop display stopped working - acting like the backlight has died. I replaced the display and the connecting cable. No change. Replaced the motherboard, the display still won't work. I can hook up a 50" TV using the display port cable and see the desktop and use the computer, but the integrated display refuses to work. I'm stumped. Any similar experiences or ideas to explore or check out? Thanks.Scott

Answer:LCD display doesn't work, external monitor does

The most common cause for no backlight is a blown backlight fuse on the motherboard. The fuse is VERY fast burning and easy to blow. It is important to wear a grounding wrist strap when doing repairs that involve the screen or LCD cables.

My internal mic does work, but I need an externel one (no headset, only mic). When I put it into the combo, the music plays on the mic (so the laptop sees it as an earphone). How can I change that, that I can use my microphone? I tried to change the settings, but it didn't work ..Thanks for your help...

Answer:Lenovo T5400 external Mic doesn't work :-(

My daughter enjoys writing music and recording it with her T530. She had similar problems as you have described. Her solution was to purchase an aftermarket USB connected external sound card that included all the dedicated input and output jacks she needed.

My external LCD monitor connected with analog cable doesn't work on my Tecra M7 with Win Vista and latest display driver downloaded today from this website. Windows Mobility center show display is connected, desktop is extended to second display and Windows Display settings dialog shows the right resolution of external LCD. But there is no image on external monitor (with 'no signal' message right after switching monitor on).

Any changes in display settings (resolution, display type (mirror, second display, primary/secondary)) don't work.
Monitor works well with my old notebook and WindowsXP.
If I restart my M7 laptop with external monitor plugged in I see loading messages and windows logo on external monitor and after that I see only desktop wallpaper while internal lcd of my notebook is black and I can not switch internal lcd at all in this case (only restart with external display unplugged works in this case).

Answer:External monitor doesn't work on Tecra M7 Vista

Hi

Did you assign the external monitor as a primary display in the graphic properties?
I think you did it due to the fact that the Toshiba boot display appears on the external monitor.

But just moment please. The Tecra M7 was delivered with the Win XP Pro tablet edition and not with Vista.
Did you install it at you own hand?

I presume everything has worked running Win XP?
Maybe you should try remove the graphic driver from the Vista system and use one from the 3rd site like www.laptopvideo2go.com

Hello, I've had this problem with my laptop display for about half a year. When the laptop starts, the backlight turns on, but there is no display of Windows. When connected to an external monitor or projector, this displays the image with no problem. Thus, my question is: if my GPU and backlight are working, what component is causing the problem and how can I fix it? It is worth mentoning that sometimes on start up the display came back to life, and then if no shutdown or battery depletion occured, it would function normally. However, if the battery ran out, the problem came back (since I very often just put the laptop on sleep, this system functioned for a while...) Then, a couple of weeks ago this happened again, and the display hasn't worked since. I am now working with an external monitor.  Looking forward to your answers. Many thanks, Stefania

Hello, I am having problems with my Lenovo SL400, I have downgraded it to Windows XP with the recovery kit; when I connect an external monitor I can not access to my LAN or Internet, is like the cable was disconnected; but when I disconnect the external monitor the ethernet works fine; someone knows why is that?. Thanks to all and best regards.

Answer:SL400, Win XP, ethernet connection doesn`t work with an external monitor.

It sounds like an IRQ conflict, but it might be solved by reinstalling the drivers. I guess for starters, go to Start > Programs > Accessories >System Tools > System Information, then exspand the Hardware Resources and click IRQs and c/p (copy & paste) that infomation here, maybe paste the Conflicts/Sharing one too. The offical drivers are localed here.

Hallo, My Lenovo R400 (R400 7439 A85) and my Philips Monitor are not working together so well. The recommended resolution of the monitor is 1600 x 1050.If I set the notebook to this resolution I only get some shades of grey, sometimes with bright horizontal lines but no other clear shapes. With other resolutions like 1440 x 900 or lower I get a more or less brilliant view of my desktop. I tried the monitor with another notebook and it worked very well with the resolution of 1600 x 1050. In my opinion all drivers have the latest version. Is there anyone out there who can help me? greetingshelplessathome

I cannot seem to get my 22" Acer X221w monitor to work through the w540 thunderbold port. I've tried two different mini display port to DVI-D Active dongles.  On one of the dongles, I got a video signal through however, even though the display driver was set to 1680 x 1050, the monitor said it was actually receiving 1932 x 1050 which meant that the picture was warped and cut off the left side of the screen.  The other dongle won't show anything at all. Both dongles worked with DVI monitors at the store whose native resolutions were 1920 x 1080. I could even get 1024 x 768 to display on those monitors.  Is there a different kind of dongle I need to get? I also have a w520 with a full size display port++ connector. These 1680 x 1050 monitors work just fine with a full size display port to DVI-D active dongle. However, my mini display port to DVI-D active dongles came with a mini display port to full size display port adapter too.  I can't get either of the two new dongles to work even with the full size display port... so it's got to be the dongles right?

This is sort of a bug report. A Lenovo X131e with Windows 7 x64 and the PL2303 driver including 1.6, 1.61 and 1.7 will not successfully install the driver - Windows always reports "Driver Install Failed" on plug in to USB 3 or USB2 ports. However, putting a USB2.0 hub inbetween the USB to Serial Adapter and either USB port type makes the adapter work fine. This was not the case with the X130e. I'm not sure where to report this beyond this posting, but more of an FYI.

I have an Portege R500 running Vista with a Slim Port Replicator II and a digital Viewsonic monitor.
I connected the monitor to the DVI port on the port replicator and got it to work OK.
The fn-F5 key would switch between the laptop display and the external monitor.

Then it stopped working, and I can't get it to work at all. F5 just recognises the laptop screen.

If I connect an analogue display, it's fine, and I can switch between the two screens without difficulty.

The oddest thing is that, if I reboot while the Portege R500 is docked, the digital monitor starts out displaying the boot sequence, but then the signal is lost once the display stops showing the progress bar (in low resolution).

I spent an hour on the phone to support on Friday, and it got me nowhere.
They finished up saying that it should never have worked! So what's the DVI port for then?

Any ideas?

David

Answer:Portege R500: external monitor doesn't work with Port Replicator 2 and DVI

Connect your monitor directly to your notebook and see if you it is recognised and you can switch via FN+F5 between the two displays.
If it works, then connect with port replicator and try again.

Maybe it is best if you reinstall display drivers. Could be that there is a new one too on the download page.

Hi there. I am working with two monitors. The first is a ViewSonic VX2250wm LED monitor, connected to the desktop (Lenovo ThinkCentre M90p) via a
DVI
(in monitor) to Displayport (Desktop) cable. The card is an Nvidia Geforce 310.

The second monitor is VGA.

Every so often, the ViewSonic's signal goes out. At first I thought it was the DVI/
Displayport
adaptor, but upon getting a new cable the problem persisted. I then assumed it was the latest Nvidia driver update, so I rolled back. The monitor's signal returned for a few days, but then eventually lost its signal again.

This process repeats every time I install an older driver: the monitor comes back, but eventually dies. I am trying to figure out what is the cause of this problem. AFAIK it cannot be the Displayport as the Geforce is compatible. I have concluded it must be the ViewSonic monitor.

Any help as to what may cause this loss of signal would be appreciated. I have a feeling it might be because I have not used an 'active' adapter and only have used passive ones.
I just wish this information wasn't so vague and hard to find.  Displayport hasn't really taken off that well, has it?

I sent the 2nd one in today...  i wish i could do something to check but i can't get it to display anything. i press the power button and there is a brief flicker (like the display getting power) but it just stays blank. no lenovo splash screen, no windows splash screen....nothing. connect via hdmi to tv...nothing, the tv just says no signal.  am i going to have to warranty this one too? i feel bad for having lenovo overnight me another box, but i suppose i shouldn't feel bad since they are providing me with shoddy products (or so it would seem anyway)

I'm considering replacing my office desktop with a w530. Unfortunatley I don't have enough funds to replace my current 30" monitor which only has DVI input. I understand the w530 (or its dock) does not have DualLink DVI output. So, can anyone here verify whether a DP to DualLink DVI adapter can be used with the w530 to output 2560x1600 DVI output? I know the x201t was NOT capable of it. (I tried, Lenovo support finally admitted that the video chip is not capable of outputting DualLink DVI even through a DP/DVI adapter.)

Answer:DisplayPort to DualLink DVI adapter - does it work on the w530?

There are several adapters on the market from Apple, Accell, Monoprice.com, Startech, etc. Keep in mind you are looking for mini DP -> Dual Link DVI. I believe most of them support up to 2560x1600 and they should work with your notebook and monitor.  It might take some trial and error but I am sure you'll find one that works.

My external monitor ASUS PB278Q stopped working. I switched out the DP cable which is newly purchased. I have my GPU driver updated and I'm pretty sure I've updated most other drivers on my laptop as well. I'm connecting the DP through the 433835U TP MiniDock Plus Series 3 (https://www.amazon.com/Lenovo-433835U-MiniDock-Docking-Station/dp/B0085MQLMQ). For some  reason the laptop doesn't seem to detect the monitor or vice versa. The monitor says DP cable no signal. Other inputs like the power adapter and the wireless mouse I attach to the docking station do work however. I'm not sure what else I'm looking at. I haven't tried using the other inputs like the hdmi (id have to buy an adapter) or the VGA and the one other one it has since I dont have cable for those... I'm not sure how to resolve this. Please provide support, thanks.

Hello there,I have problem with my T410. I have connected external monitor (HP LP2475w) over displayport. Everything is all right until I wake up my NB from suspend. After I wake it up, I have to move mouse (or press some key) to get an image (like monitor was powered down). But then the image is corrupted. Over whole display I can see only one small piece from center of the image (typicaly login image and password field on W7 login screen). It's not a bad resolution, only very zoomed image. I have to unplug displayport cable, open lid, plug cable and close lid. After that is image fine again, but the procedure is very annoying. It doesn't matter if I have it connected directly to NB or to dock. Also the same problem occures when I set up the monitor shutdown in display options from control panels.Does anyone know the solution? Thanks.

I have upgraded my HP Pro X2 612 laptop to Windows 10 and installed all the necessary drivers. Hi all, I am trying to connect 2 external monitors (Asus VW22AT) to my W550S laptop.Via the VGA connection, it works fine (for both monitors, i tried one by one), the display automatically sets to 1680x1050 resolution. My problem comes from the mini displayport which i used with DVI adapter (I also tried with VGA adapter), I can't get the 1680x1050 resolution, it recommands to use a 1920x1080 resolution but the screen is blurred. If I manually set to 1680x1050, the image doesn't use all the screen, each side is black on 3 centimeters thus the image is also blurred. Do you have any solution please?Best regards, Jean

Hi All, I've got a W530 with the nVidia K1000 2GB card.My thinkpad is docked and there is a Dell 2715H connected via the display port (DP -> mDP on monitor). The problem I am experiencing is that the monitor will enter and exit power save mode periodically on its own.I'm running Ubuntu Linux (14.04LTS).I've got Discrete Graphics configured in the BIOS (which I just upgraded to 2.63 to see if it would help, but it did not).I've also got nvidia drivers installed (version 352) and everything looks stunning...except for the external monitor cutting out periodically. Can someone suggest a solution to this problem? ThanksP

Hello, I just got my W530 a few days ago. Today, my Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adaptor came, so I hooked it up to my monitor and tried to fire it up. No joy. I went into nVidia Control Panel and it said that no monitor was connected to the displayport. I have Optimus enabled in the BIOS, so I went and switched it to Discrete Only. When my computer rebooted, I still had no video on the external monitor, and now the laptop panel was at 1024x768 or some similar crap resolution, like before I had even installed the nVidia driver (http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS029106). So, I have a few questions. First of all, has anyone else experienced this? Second of all, can I get drivers directly from nVidia for this card? I've never liked running OEM drivers because of the lag between driver release and the OEM certification process. Finally, why is my discrete card not working at all when I disable the Intel graphics? Thanks,Eric

Hi Everyone,

I am attempting to configure EyeFinity with 3 monitors. My graphics card, a PowerColor HD 6850 supports a maximum of 3 monitors, and it sports the following monitor outputs: 2 x DVI, 1 x HDMI & 1 x DisplayPort.

My 3 monitors are all the same brand (Dell) and model (U2212HM UltraSharp), they each sport 1 x DisplayPort, 1 x DVI & 1 x VGA connection.

As all of my monitors support DisplayPort I see no need for a DisplayPort adaptor, and I have connected my monitors as follows:

1). DVI
2). VGA by way of DVI Adaptor (this is because I am using a KVM switch)
3). DisplayPort

Ironically only the 3rd, DisplayPort connected monitor is not working with EyeFinity! I have manually set the connection on the monitor (through the monitor's menu) to DisplayPort. Further when I turn the monitor off and on I see the message: "No DisplayPort " - so the monitor doesn't "believe" that it is connected.

Windows (7 - x64 - Professional) on the other hand responds to the monitor being turned on and off by making the long "doo doo" sound that it typically makes whenever a USB connection is established! However this being said "Screen Resolution" item only ever reports that two monitors are connected!

Furthermore ATI Catalyst can only see two monitors connected - it sees one Analog (due to the adaptor) and one digital (as pictured below).

Any help with getting my 3rd monitor will be greatly appreciated. I have considered uni... Read more

Answer:Can't get 3rd monitor to work with Eyefinity - it has DisplayPort!

DisplayPort can technically drive up to 3 monitors, but I am fairly certain that you cannot easily mix it's output with another digital output unless the video chipset can allow it (and this would be high-end, because DVI and HDMI are based on older technology and would require decent amounts of horsepower that a single GPU isn't necessarily going to be designed for). Nvidia makes some laptop video chips that allow splitting the signal between VGA and a DisplayPort port, but that's analog and digital, so it's a lot easier on the chipset than pushing 2 digital outputs at the same time (with content protection, scanning, etc. required by those interfaces).

The latest DisplayPort spec allows daisy-chaining of multiple DisplayPort displays on the same DisplayPort port from a video source, but to do so you need to purchase the requisite cabling or adapters to achieve multimon on the DisplayPort port and all devices along a DisplayPort multimon daisy-chain must be DisplayPort 1.2 spec or higher devices.

There are adapters that you can purchase that can take a DisplayPort signal and output it to multiple DVI endpoints (which could then be downgraded to VGA with an adapter on the DVI port), but you generally need to be driving the same monitors at each endpoint too which can be a pain.

Answer:Displayport to DVI-D X201 Tablet/Windows 8 64 bit - not detecting external monitor

Hi, smortensen

To make sure I fully understand the issue: You have upgraded to Windows 8, and you have your machine connected to an Ultrabase, correct? Are you trying to extend/duplicate your display from the laptop to another monitor? If you are trying to connect the laptop to an external display, have you attempted to do this when the computer is not in the Ultrabase?

Best,
Adam

Hi,I've been using a 2port USB KVM Switch from InLine for a long time connecting a mac mini and a macbook proto a 24" LCD. Recently I had to replace the MacBookPro with a T420. Unfortunately the T420 does not detect themonitor, when connected via the KVM switch. I tried:A) T420 -> Lenovo Displayport to DVI-Adapter -> KVM-Switch -> 24" monitor: NO SUCCESSB) T420 -> Thinkpad miniDock Series 3 DVI Port-> KVM Seitch -> 24" monitor : NO SUCCESSC) T420 ->Thinkpad miniDock Series 3 DVI Port-> 24" monitor - > SUCCESSD) T420 >Thinkpad miniDock Series 3 VGA Port -> 24" monitor - > SUCCESSSo I have a workaround, but leaving out the KVM switch is not a long term option. This is all on Win 7 professional / 64bit Using config (A) I then installed the Intel HD Graphics Driver version 8.15.10.2342 16 May 2011SURPRISE: during driver install, the monitor WAS detected!!!SECOND SURPRISE: after reboot I was back in the old situation where the monitor was NOT DETECTED CONCLUSION:Seems like a software issue with the Intel HD Graphice driver. ANY HINT/COMMENT/HELP highly appreciated! Thanks,Michael

Answer:T420 - external 24" monitor DVI->Displayport : not detected when connected via KVM switch

hey mgold,as the T420 works correctly with the external monitor and with the miniDock ; it is sad to say the the KVM switch is non-compatible.I would recommend that you get in contact with the manufacturer of the KVM. At the same time, try uninstalling the current video drivers of your T420 and see if it makes any difference with the KVM if the T420 is running on a generic driver

(Apologies for a duplicate.) The Intel GMA driver apparently doesn't support the combination of image orientations that I want on the X200T panel and the external monitor, which is connected by DisplayPort from the dock. The tablet panel is inverted on the desk for easier stylus use, so Intel GMA has its rotation at 180. I now want to *physically* rotate the external LCD so it is in portrait mode and display images that way (e.g. full portrait pages of text for editing).  Doing so requires a 90 or 270 offset from the tablet panel orientation. Apparently the Intel GMA does not support this. The buttons that I would use for those are grey.  Only the 0 and 180 are available for the external monitor. What do I try next?  Am I missing a driver upgrade?  Or facing a purchase of PivotPro or something like that? Best regards,

Hi, I have a T430s with Integrated Graphics (Intel HD4000) only. I bought a Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort cable, however, no display shows up on my monitor (ThinkVision Lt2522p). Does anyone know why or how I can fix this? Very much appreciated,hellothere P.S. I speculate this is because of the integrated graphics hardware based off this thread (http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/T400-T500-and-newer-T-series/T430-External-display-not-detected-when-usi...). I have purchased several M92p tiny computers and had great success with them. however, we are wanting to start hooking up 4 monitors as advertised using the ?Displayport to Dual Displayport adapters? to connect two identical monitors to a single displayport on the PC. When we hook up this adapter neither monitor connect. The status lights on the adapter for each displayport just blinks green (I assume they should be solid green lights). Does anyone have any idea what is going on with these adapters or can locate any technical documenation for them. I have verified the displayports on the computers work by connecting monitors directly to them, I have tried several different display driver options since the device doesnt have any drivers, and different types of monitors. I have called lenovo support and they say everything is working as designed? ( yet nothing displays? at all?) Any suggestions or help is greatly appricated.

Just found a very interesting problem.  I just purchased a new 27" monitor and connected to my Dell XPS (9343) using a mini DisplayPort to HDMI cable.  The laptop was on and running when I connected everything and closed the lid.  Everything was working beautifully, until I ran WIndows update and had to reboot.  Then all *** broke loose.  The machine started beeping like crazy and the battery charge light started blinking orange then white and then it shut down.  After I recovered from my almost heart attack (I thought my laptop had died)...I opened the lid and hit the power button and it started up fine.  I closed the lid after it rebooted, and continued to work fine.  So as a test, I restarted the laptop again with the lid closed while the external monitor was connected and again the beeping and the orange light blinking.  Proceeded to turn it back on with the lid open...everything fine.  I checked the BIOS settings and everything seems to be normal.   It seems there's a problem with this laptop not being able to be restarted in the closed lid position when an external monitor is connected (something I do ALL THE TIME with my Lenovo work laptop that is also connected to an external monitor).   Has anyone else had this problem?  Is Dell aware of this issue??

Hello, I would love to ask for some help!
I've recently purchased the newer Dell XPS 13 9360 Non-touch (not the 2 in 1) and am having some trouble with using an external monitor. The screen (on the external monitor) keeps on flickering and has a very unstable connection.
I've searched and found that apparently lowering the power output of the WIFI network adapter can fix this problem.
The problem is that the current XPS's wifi adapter doesn't allow the power output to be changed. The previous fixes were geared towards intel wifi adapters.
The general power settings for the computers doesn't show wifi card power controls.

I have updated all the drivers for the computer including the wireless adapter. Still the options doesn't change.

Has anyone found a way to get a stable external monitor to work with the Killer Wireless Adapter cards?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
-JDed

Answer:XPS 13 9360 External Monitor Flicker with USB C - HDMI Adapter [Killer Wireless Adapter]

For what it's worth: For me (XPS 13 9360, QHD, i7, 16 GB, Killer WiFi), external screens are perfectly stable, even with wireless being on relatively high throughput load, albeit not high power (energy) load.
I am connecting both HDMI and DisplayPort displays, each with cheap native USB-C adapters (i.e. through Thunderbolt). I also have full success with a Dell DA200, through its built-in HDMI graphics adapter.

Hi
I am getting quite confused with all these apps that seem to do all the same thing, I downloaded Xim(not sure how I got it, I am in Canada but setup with US region for cortana, but I read that it would only accept US numbers yet had no problem with my Canadian number) and then I realized this sounds like the Breamer.
What is the difference between all these? Are they not all owned by MS now?

Don't know about Xim just yet, but Nokia Beamer is for anything, where PhotoBeamer is for photos only. Beamer can do anything, photos included. Photobeamer does only photos.

I bought a beamer which supports 1080p 3D videos.
I connected it to my Toshiba Satellita R630-14H notebook with an HDMI cable which should also support 3D.
I used a player software which should also support 3D and downloaded some demos in SBS format.

But when I play those videos, they are really displayed side by side and not as 3D.
When I tell the beamer to switch from 2D to 3D it always says that the input is not 3D.
The Intel program for the graphics driver which was pre-installed does list a 3D option.

Which HDMI version does the R630-14H use?
Does it support 3D-video?
Am I missing anything else?

Answer:No 3D video on external beamer connected to Satellite R630-14H

> I connected it to my Toshiba Satellite R630-14H notebook with an HDMI cable which should also support 3D.

Where did you get or find the information about 3D support on this notebook?
Toshiba Satellite R630-14H specification page says that this unit support the internal Intel HD graphic unit.

Sorry mate but such graphic card isn?t 3D capable and I don?t think 3D output would be possible.

To be able to use an external 3D monitor or beamer, you would need an notebook with 3D capable graphic card. For example a nVidia GPU, 3D capable display driver, 3D glasses (NVIDIA 3D Vision Kit) and 3D compatible monitor or beamer (120Hz).

Hallo, I am working as a teacher and I use a W530 with a NVIDIA Quadro K2000M. I use Windows 8. It is my personal laptop. The beamer of the classroom is a very old one and I am allowed to replace it with a new beamer. But since there are so many problems with the compatibility between the W530 and a beamer, I prefer to as it first here on the forum. Hello Libretto Users,

I do not have such a nice unit yet, but I am thinking to get one. I guess I will have not too much problems with the small keyboard and screen, as I am using a MDA Pro and I am quite satisfied with the even smaller keyboard.

But prior buying a Libretto U100 I really would like to know if the Libretto is able to show a video, which is included in a Power-Point-Presentation on the screen of the Libretto and also on a beamer in parallel. Because this is not the case with my actual Satellite Notebook, where I can run Power-Point-Presentations on both devices, but as soon as I start a video within the presentation it will be only shown on my Satellite screen.

Thanks for sharing your experience,

Walter

Answer:U100: Videos in parallel on internal screen and external beamer?

Hi

Usually on Satellite units it should be possible to change the display devices with the key combination FN+F5. So you can change the display output to extern Monitor/Beamer, TV, extended desktop or you can clone the display (notebook+monitor or notebook+TV).
I don?t know if you have tried it but check these possibilities.

As far as I know the Libretto U100 supports also this utility and it should be possible to change the output to extended monitor or beamer.

Bye

Hello,

i had a problem with my Thosiba Notebook ! (Detail of System Name follows ... later)

First i saw that the Yahama Sound Chip was diabled (disapper) caused by Windows Update and i
found no way to recover / install the correct driver.

So i decided to ... give up with timewasting and Started the System Recover Process.

So after the Recover finish ... the sound was back and during the (Windows) Updating routine
... it' was disabled again, but this time i could install the new correct driver.

After i take back my installed notebock back to work (sound still working) i connect a beamer
to the secondary vga connection ... and what a suprise
the beamer shows NOTHING ... before this it still works

Has anyone a idea what could be the error reason ?

I have an external USB hard drive that's worked fine for about a year.

I went away on a trip a few months ago and although I powered my computer off, I left the HD powered on. When I returned all the clocks in my house were blinking - power failure. I discovered shortly after that the external HD had stopped working.

I get a "device cannot start code 10" in the device manager and it is not recognized anywhere besides there. I've tried uninstalling / updating drivers. If the HD is plugged in and powered on during a boot, the computer will hang at the bios. If the HD is turned on mid-boot, the boot will freeze until the HD is turned off again.

Here's where it gets weird.

About 2 weeks later, it just started working on it's own again with no prompting from me. I quickly transferred all my most important data off of it expecting it was a 10 minute window, but it worked for 2 weeks more. I was happy and assumed that was the end of it.

Last night I left my computer on overnight to run a deep defrag on another hard drive. You guessed it - power failure. Computer works fine but the HD is back to the Code 10 error again.

Although I'm going to just leave it plugged in hoping the hard-drive elves come out at night and repair it again, does anyone have any idea what this issue might be so I can help it along?

TIA

Answer:External HD doesn't work. Wait, yes it does. Oh, no it doesn't.

Sounds like the drive enclosure is shorting out or something is wrong with it. If you can I would try to take it apart and use it as an internal drive and see if that helps.

I've tried 3 now.
All work OK first day.
Next day I get a few flickers where the display stops for a second.
Nothing to worry about. I can live with.
Next day, gets worse. It sucks, but I can live with and don't want to go to the bother of returning.
Next day worse.
Next day worser.
Next day I'm shouting and yelling and trying no to swear.

First one I bought: cheap one - fairly well reviewed.
Next one: one of the more expensive ones. Same thing happened.
Current one (one of the more expensive ones, different make): it's started. I know where it's going.

I have updated my BIOS and anything I can find on my HP laptop.
I use the latest drivers from the manufacturer.
This just sucks!

I desperately need 3 displays!
I have an existing one from the HDMI port.

Is there one particular make that is recommened?

All bought from Amazon.

Thanks.

The newly bought 6 months old Lenovo X1 Carbon 2nd Gen frequently crashes when it is left unattended for 10-15 min when it is connected to the external Lenovo monitor. I gues it has something to do with monitor turning off settings but can't fihure it out, it is stupid that I see blue screen so frequently because the system can't figure out how to turn off the external display... lost so much work and so very much disappointed at both Lenovo and Microsoft... I had an X220 which I loved but next time I am going for a Mac! - a very disappointed customer

I have a friend who fried his computer pwr supply when his power line neutral broke.  It was an old Dell (about 1996 mod).   I removed his drives and reinstalled them in an even older tower with a mother board and CPU already mounted.  This tower did not have the standard PS/2 connectors for the keyboard and mouse.  The mouse is connected to a serial input port with an adapter (9 pin serial port to  PS/2).   I manage to boot up Windows 95 but I get the message ?This computer does not detect the presence of a mouse.  Shut down windows to connect a mouse to the PS/2 connector?.  And, sure enough, I do not get any response from the mouse.   The BIOS is setup with ?AWARD SOFTWARE INC?  (Now PHEONIX).   The CPU is an Intel 1 (or 486),  I have searched through the BIOS setup and chipset setup trying to find a problem with no results.  Any suggestions??  My friend has little money and I am trying to keep cost down.  I feel the problem is probably very simple but beyond my scope.  Thanks for reading this,  Jim

Answer:Mouse doesn't work with PS/2 adapter.

I think Windows 95 requires a driver for a serial mouse.

I have had this Aspire V17 for over a year, and suddenly the WiFi adapter "vanishes".  Laptop works fine, drop lid to sleep , lift lid later and no WiFi.  This isn't a "loss of signal" issue , the device vanishes from the Windows 10 Device Manager list of devices.  After a lot of reboots , it eventually returns for a few days.   Is this a hardware issue, or a software problem? Cheers,Jc

Hi,

my Adapter(Liteon Model:PA-1750-09) doesn't work but if I plug it out for some minutes and plug it in again then it works again for some minutes.
Recently, when the adapter worked and my notebook was in the standby mode, I pressed the "on-Button" the control lights turned off.
Do you know anything about this problem? Have I to buy a new adapter?
Please, help me.

Answer:The Adapter of my Satellite M40x 295 doesn't work

Hi

There are two possibilities:
Either the AC adaptor is dead and the battery cannot charge or there is something wrong with the notebook electronic.
Try to remove the battery and disconnect the AC adaptor.
Wait several minutes (>15min) and then connect the battery and AC adaptor to the notebook.

If it does not work you could check if only the AC adaptor malfunctions? But in my opinion there must be something different

My wireless adapter connects fine when my pc boots except if I try to download a large file or run a full screen program that uses connection, the adapter stops working and won't detect any networks, if I try to configure it when it doesn't work...my com will turn itself off and turn back on. I downloaded a newer driver, resetted my router, but the problem is still there.

I've had insolvable problems with the internal network adapter on my Thinkpad T61. Verizon technical support suggested that I simply use an external adapter (USB-to-10/100 Ethernet). Does anyone have experience using such adapters (I know that Linksys and Belkin make them)? Is there any reason to think they wouldn't work with a Thinkpad? Thanks in advance,

Answer:External USB-to-10/100 Ethernet adapter: will it work?

I'm assuming that you're reffering to WWAN, since you mention Verizon, and not regular wireless LAN.If that's the case, you'll have to purchase a card from your cellular provider. However, if you're referring to wireless LAN, then I fail to understand what you're trying to accomplish, so please kindly clarify.

Hello,

Lately I have some problems with my battery or with the adapter. When I use the adapter (led's working and Power Saver indicating that battery is charging), the battery is not charging, in contrary, it keeps losing power until it gets to 0% and the laptop shuts down!Than the led's of the adapter stay out even when I disconnect and reconnect the adapter. After a few atempts, the led's start working again and the battery starts charging. If I turn on the laptop to quick it shuts down again.
Once I got the laptop up and running again, and if I put the screen in a darker mode or turn of the computer completely, the battery charges again. The Power saver indicates that the laptop is on full power of and uses normal netpower. Mayby the adapter is not working properly?
If I want to change the adapter, where can I find the right model (Toshiba part NO: PA3381U-1ACA/PA-3381E-1ACA) 'caus this one is not available (anymore?) on the toshiba site...

Thanks!

Answer:SA60-652: AC adapter or/and battery doesn’t work properly

Hi

It? not easy to say which hardware part could has a fault. But in my opinion it seems that there is some problem with notebook power supply electronic. The only way is to contact the service partner. Only the ASP can give you the detailed description of the malfunction.
Furthermore if you need infos about the parts for this unit please visit the Toshiba site:

By the way the AC Adapter has these properties:

Hello, i have an ASUS X55VD and the wireless adapter isn't working anymore. I tried troubleshooting, reinstalling the ASUS drivers (Ralink and Atheros drivers), uninstalling and uninstalling & deleting the driver from device manager. I tried uninstalling the antivirus (ESET SS 8). The wired connection is working fine.

How it started giving errors: I left it in Sleep mode for 2 days, unplugged. After this i did a restart and the wireless adapter was off. I turned it on using the Wireless Console 3 (provided by the laptop CD from ASUS), the wireless LED stays constant ON, although in Network and Sharing center, the wireless connection is Disabled. Re-enabling it from there it just says Enabling... -> Enabled but it still remains Disabled. After this i started applying the fixes mentioned above. Whenever i start the laptop now the Wireless is disabled and i don't know what else to try.

Answer:Wireless Network Adapter doesn't work anymore

I have a Dell vostro 1220. I recently upgraded from XP 32 to 7 64. Everything is working fine except the bluetooth adapter. The drivers are installed, it appears in the device manager but not in Control Panel > Network and Internet. I've tried different bluetooth stack software but the problem seams to be with the hardware. It just won't switch on.

I did some hardware upgrades as well more ram and HDD to SSD, all working fine. OS install went well, back up was fine. I'm out of ideas other than I broke it when opening up the laptop. I hope this isn't the case.

Suggestions?

Hello for everyone! My english is poor, sorry.
I've installed ASUS Wi-Fi USB adapter (model USB-N13) for LAN. There is Windows 7 Home Premium x64. Through control panel I see that adapter works normally and the drivers are the latest. However my PC doesn't see the adapter - the ASUS utility notices me "ASUS Wireless LAN card is taken apart from your desktop PC".

I have the same Wi-Fi adapter at another my PC with Windows 7 Home Basic, and everything works nice. Of course I changed these adapters between my computers. Conclusion is both adapters are working good. The same models, the same drivers. Actually I don't understand where is the mistake?

If this matter was already discussed here pls give the link. Or what are your ideas about this trouble?

Thank you.

Answer:Windows 7 installed Asus Wi-Fi adapter. However it doesn't work.

Welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

As the USB adapter is seen on a different computer, but not this one one, you may want to check you have the correct chipset drivers, as they are needed for the USB controllers.

You haven't given us any of your computer specifications so I can't advise you where to look.

Even the computer make and model would have helped.

I'm using Windows Vista Home Premium, 32-bit, on a hp Pavillion6000 laptop. The network adapter is a Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 2200BG (it was stock with the computer).

I've never had problems with the network adapter before! It completely stopped working on all fronts. I tried updating and/or replacing the drivers, but there's one error that I keep getting no matter what I do (besides erasing it all together) when I look at it under Device Manager.

"This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)"

That's it! It doesn't work at all! It won't update, I already tried manually downloading / installing drivers from Intel's website, and it's still messed up! I've spent hours trying to figure this out, and I'm completely stumped. Any ideas?

My XPS13 9350 was one of the first with USB-C port (Thunderbolt 3) only and no DisplayPort, supplied in early 2016. It has caused a lot of headaches. As I tried to connect my external Dell monitor using  a USB-C to HDMI adapter from Dell (part no: 47KD7) there was no external display at all. Dell Support advised me to update BIOS. But it led to a complete freeze of my laptop and Dell replaced the motherboard. (It was a real nuisance as I use my laptop for work!!)
With the new motherboard,  the laptop/USB-C adapter/external monitor worked fine for 15 months. Until one day, out of the blue, the external screen started flickering with an image that was all distorted (cut in the middle). The laptop screen was fine. After a few weeks of flickering, there is no signal at all to the external screen. Moreover, as I connect the adapter in USB-C port the resolution on my laptop screen changes.
I know there have been a lot of issues with USB-C connector on XPS 13 and 15.  I have reduced wifi-power to 50%  but it has had no positive effect (several persons have said on this forum that it helped the video output).
I am grateful to learn if anybody with similar problems found a solution. Cheers

Hello, Lenovo Thinkpad E470 is one of the worst laptop i ever came across. We have 15-20 laptops and from day1 we are facing issues. Firstly there was a issue with Screen flickering we tried all the possible fixes and it took almost 1month to get fixed. It is dead slow and doesn't respond for most of the time. Now we are facing some crazy issue. By default it doesn't detect LAN. We need to enable and Disable Lan adapter then it works for 3-4 hours then all of a sudden it stops working again. If we try to disable and Enable the Lan adapter the LAN adapter disappears completely. Please lenovo technical team reply dont send a system generated mails. Your service is so worst.

Ok, so I've re-installed Windows XP (SP2) and after it booted up, I noticed that my onboard ethernet adapter wasn't recognised. So I went and downloaded the appropriate drivers (SiS900.zip) from the mobo's official site (it's a PCChips M848A mobo) but when I try to install the drivers, it still says that the hardware isn't functional (Code 1).

I've tried many different versions of SiS900 drivers but it simply won't work.

When I tried the setup.exe file that came with the official driver, the install would say "Update Driver for PnP Device Fail. Setup will exit".

That's when I simply forwarded the windows hardware installer to an XP folder i found in the zip file. But still, it doesn't work.

I really need help on this matter. Thanks in advance...

EDIT: Maybe it's worth mentioning that I re-installed WinXP over an existing windows partition without formatting it. I simply deleted the former windows installation files.

Answer:[SOLVED] On-board Ethernet Adapter Driver Doesn't Work

Have you tried directing the driver to install from SiS900\WinXP\netoem.inf ?

Go into your device manager, right click the device under network adapters and click update driver. From there direct it to the aforementioned file.

Dear forum,  yesterday I bought my new ThinkPad t470. While everything else is working fine, the notebook seems not to be able to detect my external monitor (ThinkVision t2424p), when connecting it via a VGA to HDMI adapter. This setup flawlessly worked with my last notebook. Regardless whether I try to connect the monitor when Windows is already running or when I boot into Windows with the monitor already connected, the monitor doesn't show up in the screen resolutions settings nor does there appear an additional device in the device manager.  Do you know what the problem might be? The apater works fine when used with a different Notebook. Thank you very much, EBM

Try to connect your LCD monitor again and start the unit. If you will be able to switch to notebook display again please switch to ?Notebook display only? and disconnect the external LCD.

If you use FN+F5 key combination FN must be pressed down while you pres F5.

Hi,

I was just wanting to pick your brains about the problem you had - I recently re-installed Windows XP into this computer - not a whole re-install, just a fix, and since then no USB drivers have been working (except the printer and the mouse, which work just fine). The drivers show up as working, but I cannot access them through my computer, and even when I plug my camera in, nothing happens, whereas it normally uoloads photos automatically.

Can you please tell me in which order you re-booted your computer to make the drivers appear again in my computer? Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Answer:External Drive Doesn't Work

Oh, by the way, I have already tried them in another system and they worked fine.

I just bought an external dvd burner from Amazon.com by some company that goes by the name of Computer Geeks. The dvd burner was supposed to be brand new but never came in a manufacterers package or anything. I know the drive works because I can burn stuff when I'm in my Linux partition. When I double click the drive letter in Windows XP I get an error message that says: G:\ is not accessible. Incorrect Function. I sent a message to Computer Geeks and they wont respond at all. The burner did not come with any cd-roms so I can't update the drivers at all and my laptop can't connect to the internet until I'm back on campus. Does any one know of a way to fix this? Thanks.

Sorry, mistake on my part, I forgot to enable the drive for burning.
