X1 Carbon: Sandisk SSD or Toshiba SSD? Good/Poor? LCD Good/Poor?

Question: X1 Carbon: Sandisk SSD or Toshiba SSD? Good/Poor? LCD Good/Poor?

Initially, may have said that the SSD in X1 Carbons were Sandisk SSDs, and that they performed very poorly on 4K speed tests - which are true when one looks at these reviewers doing 4K tests. So...that's a bummer. Then, someone posted a teardown picture of the inside of an X1Carbon, which showed a Toshiba SSD. Which SSD is the one that will go inside the consumer X1 Carbons rather than the reviewers' early samples? Confusing. Whichever one it is, is it any good including its poor 4K performance? I mean real life performance: any good? Also, most say the LCD is rather nice on the x1C. they mostly said that for a 14", the 1600x900 hits an excellent sweetspot. the Z 2012's 1080 was downright annoying when i tried it out last week because on every single website, one needed to do Control ++++++ to increase the size, otherwise, you'd not be able to read it!! 1080 is too much resolution for a 13.1" LCD on the Z 2012. Then, the Engadget review just posted today says that one sees space around each pixel on the x1c's LCD!! they didn't quite like the LCD on the x1C!!! can that be true? or is that an early reviewer's sample?? Highly conflicting points of views, right? i can't believe that the pitch is so poor on the 14" 1600x900. that just doesn't sound right to me. any ideas from the good folks on this forum? thx in advance.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Regarding camera issue of mine it's not covered in warranty no damage has been found on phone just on lense what a coincidence I asked for quotation or in written that this will be covered out of warranty service center denied that why I had to voice record there statement 1st on call your excutive said who camera is covered in warranty because camera is single unit she told me bout company and all. And I had Moto X2 for almost 2 year that camera's lenses is bigger that this phone but never got any quality issues with that used iPhone 5s for more than 2 year not even a single spot on lense had Nexus 5 for over 2 year even bigger lense but nothing even tempered glass that cost around INR 7 on my screen lasts for 3 month on my phone but in this phone 100% of back is of glass but no scratches on back but just on camera there is glare type effect and service center said this is physically damaged and not be covered in warranty and I have to pay INR 230+ for quotation orally and approximately they said INR 1000 and even after repair will not be covered in warranty. Hello guys!

I just bought a new computer the other week:

i7 920
EVGA X58 mobo

I have Windows 7 (x64) build 7264 installed and encrypted on a 32GB SSD.
(I also have a 1TB drive for storage.)

I installed it about a week ago and lately it has been becoming sluggish and unresponsive at times. Mostly when loading webpages with lots of pictures or videos. I've tried 3 different browsers with the same result. When watching streaming video, it freezes randomly for a few seconds at a time when playing (but the video play bar shows that it's loaded way past the point where it freezes). I don't think it's my internet connection, because it's pretty fast (university) and I don't have these problems in ubuntu. Also, iTunes sometimes takes 5-10 seconds to gain window focus when I click on it.

I'm having trouble pinpointing where the problem lies. It's obviously not the memory. The processor does't seem to be under a heavy load (and it has 4 cores). Could it be the SSD somehow? It is one of the cheaper ones. My ubuntu installation is on the regular hd and works fine.

Thoughts/ideas/suggestions appreciated.

Answer:poor performance on good hardware -- why?

How much free space is on that SSD?
Is Hibernation turned on?
Where is the pagefile located? What is its size? Is it a fixed size or system controlled?

having had this yoga700 14 for a year ,a nd today it is dead , no power at all , the  the LED indicator light is not on even with the adapter plug in . ONE year , this is the shotest life laptap that I have ever own. And I have had it sent to Lenovo's depot center four times in this one year . I can only say that their skill is terrible , every time I received my computer from the cemter , my computer would have some new ugly scratches and some sign and distorting edge which was apparently caused by improper disassembly operations. A month ago the computer could not boot up , and it was sent in again and they replaced the motherboard . in just a month, it completely  dies now ,  it does not have power at all, the power led indicator does not turn on at all , even if I have tried several confirmed working adapters. So you can see how poor their quality is   warranty is expired now , I m really disappointed with this first lenovo product I owned  , it was the first and it would be the last lenovo product in my life.

Recently I got a new laptop, a Dell Inspiron 15R with Nvidia GeForce GT 525M. When I play my videos on this laptop however the video quality is poor, it is blurry and pixellated and is worse than my old laptop, on which all my videos were perfect. I thought it might be a codec problem so I have installed pretty much every codec pack under the sun but there has been no difference, videos still look poor in VLC, WMP, WMPC and Windows Media Centre. I also updated the driver for my video card but this did nothing.
Today I plugged my laptop into my tv using a VGA cable and not only is the video quality on the TV excellent but the video quality on my laptop also became better while plugged into the tv (although the video became squashed into the middle), so I am thinking that the problem may be due to my resolution? I have tried all the resolutions for my laptop but none have made any difference when the video is played in full screen, the video does not look as good as when it was plugged into my tv.
Any help would be appreciated on this matter, what did my tv do to make my laptop's video quality better, how can I make videos appear better on my laptop?

Answer:Poor video quality on laptop but good on TV?

It may be a faulty laptop screen. Return it.

Within the last week I've been getting very slow speeds through my Asus RT-AC66U when connected to either ethernet or wireless on Windows 10 devices. I'm usually seeing speeds over 20 mbps up to 25. Now the speeds are around 1-2 mbps, or less. Uploads are in the low 10ths of a mbps.
To troubleshoot I connected my laptop directly to the Motorola SB6121 modem via ethernet cable and the speeds were 20-25 mbps as expected. When I connected modem back to the AC66U I get 1-2 mbps. I reset the Asus router and restarted modem-then router- then laptop. Result = same poor speeds. Today I connected a spare Linksys 4200V2 to the modem and ethernet to my laptop and get the same poor speeds 1-2 mbps.
The equipment chains is: Internet to modem - modem to router - router to PC and to an ethernet switch feeding numerous devices. The router also wirelessly feeds phones, tablets and a couple streaming boxes.
The curious thing here is that my laptop with ethernet and my wife's with wireless both running Windows 10 are very slow. My Tablet running Android (CM 12.1, 5.0 ghz connection) wirelessly from the modem is testing at 24 mbps.
I'm at the end of my troubleshooting skills with this problem. The routers have the latest firmware. The Asus does have the Merlin software on it and has worked flawlessly in the past. Lastly, I did change the modem to router cable and tested on a modem to laptop and both cables are fine.
Has Microsoft made changes with the last Windows 10 updat... Read more

Hello there, I hope it's a good place to post this, some time ago I spend a bit of money to build fairly good pc for a low cost I made it, however computer performance is really low, in fact my old machine from ages ago ran way better. I have Windows 7 Professional with latest updates, also my hardware is using latest drivers, let me tell you what's wrong first.

In games I get pretty low FPS for example;

1. League Of Legends running with the lowest settings I don't go more than 80 FPS and it's when nothing is happening on the battlefield

2. Games like Counter-Strike Global Offensive, Rust Diablo III it's the same or even worse

3. When want to stream/record using various programs (xfire, Open Broadcast, Xsplit) my game it becomes completely unplayable

4. When i set up my machine for streaming and want to use my tv as 2nd monitor FPS goes so low that game is unplayable.

Below I will try post as much info as I can.

I have asked my ISP about slow web pages and poor ping results they have advised the the ping results are ok, but the time for the first hop between the PC and my Routes is where the worst of the time delay occurs, and have advised that I look at my Anti-Virus and Firewall programmes as they may be the reason for the delays.
I am using ZoneAlarm Free Antivirus and Firewall (the all in one programme) Spybot and Spyware Blaster, also DoNotTrackMe and Rapport in Firefox. The OS is Windows 7 Home Premium, 64 bit.
The PC seems to be slowing down in general, I have run cclean and this has found many problems with the Resgister and cleared them out.
Does anyone have some ideas for checking programmes which may slow the ping times. My Broadband speed is averaging 5200mbps which is very good! So some thing must be causing the problems, but what?

Answer:Good BroadBand Speeds but Poor Ping results!

I would suggest that you try another Anti-virus (perhaps microsoft security essentials or AVG free) and disable spybot, spyware blaster, do not track me and rapport and see if there is any change. Is your pc wireless or wired? If wireless have you made sure that your wireless adapter driver is up to date?

Dell i660 booting from Solid State Driv, Windows 10 64 bit Home, Cyber Acoustic 3602 speakers (left right and sub woofer)
I recently replaced my computer speakers (but not the sub woofer) and had trouble getting one to play, after trying many things both speakers now play stereo music fine. However, my voice volume on those speakers is now very poor for DVDs (Power DVD 16 software), computer games, and even on my web browser, Mozilla Firefox. But music plays fine.
I have checked my sound drivers for high definition audio device with Windows 10, it is up to date, and I have checked device properties. I have also checked via Dell support for all of my computer drivers and they are up to date. The voice volume on my movies (played with Power DVD 16) is very poor and sounds like it is at the back of a cave, i.e. hollow and echoey.. When I do Windows 10 troubleshooting it can not find anything wrong. Music plays fine at a reasonable level, voice is very weak at the same speaker volume settings. I have this problem even when I am NOT playing DVD movies.
i upgraded to Windows 10 64 bit Home (from Windows 7) in May 2016 and I had the original speakers from Nov 2015 (Cyber Acoustics 3602 speakers stereo (left and right) with sub woofer). It is only recently that I have had this problem. For a year or so they worked fine for both music and voice for playing movies and games. I can not figure out how to solve this problem, or how to reset voice volume compared to music volume. Cyber Aco... Read more

Hi here

while VLC plays just about everything you can throw at it (and it's cheap --i.e FREE) I find when watching modern movies the audio mix is just appalling -- effects are humungously LOUD whilst the dialog is often at a very low level -- same problem I have in the Cinema which is why I rarely go any more unless I'm watching classic older films.

I've often fiddled around with the equalizer on VLC with limited success -- seems for movies - especially action films released after about 1995 I'm forced to use the subtitles to stop myself from going Deaf du to the huge variation in volume between the effects / music and dialog.

Any players that can possibly do a better than than VLC of correcting te Audio mix and enhancing Dialog while fading excessive sound / music effects. VLC though is pretty good usually.

Older films seem to work perfectly -- was watching a classic re-run of the old pre 1940 version of Hunchback of Notre Dame -- dialog was perfectly audible.

Have Sound Engineers just lost the plot these days -- I'd love an evening to the cinema but fear for my ears these days.

Answer:movie player with GOOD dialog settings (modern movies - Mix is poor)

Hello,I've been selling and preparing more then 10 identicals laptops in the past months for my customers. Each one of them shows slow and poor performance with their HDDs. After doing all updates and disableing all sofwares from Windows boot allows the laptop to ''breathe'' a little more. But as soon as a software uses the HDD a bit...laptop is giving poor performances. An Acer with a 5400rpm drive and a Pentium B950 still boots 2 times faster. I think the problem comes from HGST HDD drive brand. I've ghosted the original Hard Drive on seagate and western digital 5400rpm Drives and already is behaving much more better. Even better on 7200rpm drives.I'm suggesting all users to invest 90$ into a 120GB SSD drive to unleash this laptop series performances. Even an AMD A6 series can give very good performances. Its just , in my opinion Lenovo's bad choice of part that slow's down a well built and reliable laptop. THey should have invested more into one of the most important part in a computer instead of offering tons of useless Lenovo softwares that most users don't even know what to do with it.

Has anyone with a Lenovo X1 Carbon 3rd Generation (2015) ran into an issue with their battery in poor condition? I purchased my laptop back in May 2015 and it's been working great until recently. I updated the OS to Windows 10 while it became available and it has all of the latest patches. I upgrade to a 512GB SSD in June 2016 with no issues. Within the past few weeks, I've noticed a decrease in battery life. Now, it can't hold a charger longer than two days of no use. I attached a screenshot of the battery status using the Lenovo Settings app for Windows 10. I ran the battery recall utility but my laptop doesn't qualify for a replacement battery and I am outside of the 1 year warranty. Any recommendations on where I can get a replacement battery? Thanks in advance.

Hey everyone! I just picked up 2nd Gen X1 Carbon from a friend who bought it new and only used a few times.  After installing and getting things going, I was rather surprised on the performance of this notebook.  I can't multitask one bit without the cpu and memory hitting 95-100% and freezing up.  The machine is really slugish and slow.  I had a couple of apps running on it along with 3-4 chrome windows and I was hitting 95% memory utilization.  The CPU on this is 2.49GHz and the memory is only 4GB and I was thinking it over before buying on whether the memory was enough, seems like it's not. I read on a few other board posts that the memory is soldered on to the board.  Has anyone every successfully and affortabily swapped out the board with something of higher performance and more memory (8-12GB)? If there's no solution, I'll have to sell this one off and buy another one. I really love the sleek design of the carbon, so I would probably fork out the cash for a Gen 3/4 X1. Thanks!Dan

First off, I didn't know whether to post this in gaming or hardware. Sorry.

My question: If there is dust on the videocard and fans or other poor condtions in my computer, can it affect performance in gaming? FPS wise?

Thanks, Andrew.

Answer:Poor computer conditions = poor gaming performance?

I think any build-up of dust can lead to poor performance due to heat. And heat can lead to crashes, BSODs, etc.

I recently purchased a Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Carbon (5th Generation) from After reading all the great reviews from several web sites, I thought I was buying a high quality, high performance laptop. The first Thinkpad X1 Carbon shipped to me in August 2017 had a faulty letter key that rendered the keyboard useless. Under the 30 day warranty, I sent it back and was shipped a replacement in late September 2017. After only TWO MONTHS of use, the screen on the second Thinkpad X1 Carbon has died. Lenovo Tech Support can't resolve the problem and Lenovo Customer Support won't replace the second laptop as it is beyond the 30 day warranty. They want me to send it back for repair but I have no faith that this laptop will work for long, even after repair. I truly regret buying a Lenovo as I am now stuck with this expensive unreliable Thinkpad X1 Carbon. Being sent TWO defective laptops from Lenovo certainly shows their lack of quality control. I also regret not purchasing from Costco where there is a 90 day return policy but, unfortunately, the laptop configuration I ordered was not available there.

I have a brand new x1 carbon type 20FB. All seems to work fine apart from when I use an external moniter of any kind it always seems to display at a poor quality on the external screen with the laptop display staying at a high standard. The resolution is set high enough to give a good clarity (currently using 1680x1050 on company monitor) but the image is pixalated and the contrast is weak.  I have tried using HDMI monitors, VGA monitor, TV, projectors through the HDMI outputs and the onelink docking station, played with every setting I can find, tried using an external screen only and switch the laptop screen off, but nothing seems to generate a good image. I would suspect that it was just me, as most things seem to be, but we recieved three of these laptops at the same time and all have the same issue. Does anyone have a solution or is the intel 520 HD graphic card just not up to scratch?

Let?s start a thread on example of poor programming, or poor installation setups.

Maybe the software writers will get to read this and improve their next offering.
Please add your own examples as you come across them.

Now I know hard drives are big capacity and cheap nowadays, but that is no excuse in my opinion.

Let me start with the ATI graphic card fitted to my laptop.
Type in HELP in the XP search.

(1) I get 22 examples of wwhelp4.jar in 20 different languages. Each file is 197 kb in size.

(2) 51 examples of wwhelp.htm, in various different folders, only 5-6kb each, in size, I admit, but poor programming IMHO.

(3) 22 x Folders named ?HELP?, and their contents, each folder is 3 megs in size. Each folder has sub-folders and many files in each Folder.

(4) 22 x help.js (java scripts).

(5) 22 x Help_Help_1_0_0001.html, in different languages, as you have probably guessed.

A simple solution, IMHO, and I am not a programmer, would be to ask the person installing the program, what language you want installed, and whether or not you want the other languages installed. You can always re-install later, if need be.

Next, what about programs that don?t let you maximize a page but persist in showing explanations that expand past the available space to easily read the contents. You cannot always get the gist of what they are trying to say/explain as you vainly scroll left and right.

I hate working in keyholes and every screen page should be available, max... Read more

I bought a Lenovo Z series Thinkpad 6 months ago and I started experiencing problems with the charger constantly falling out and not charging the laptop properly. I sent my laptop to be repaired and I found I had to pay an extortionate amount not only for the charger problem but damage they caused in transit! In addition, I was told the laptop would be returned to me in 10 days from sending it however its has taken them that long to assess the problem and they're requiring an additional 5 days to send the laptop back! A little bit inconvenient given I wont be in the country soon so if they're anymore delayed than claimed, it just adds to my problem! When I spoke to the customer service about disputing/sending a complaint, they weren't very helpful and tried to put the blame on me! I genuinely felt like they did not care about my service. Previous to this, I had a Toshiba laptop for a good 7 years, never has it had a problem regarding hardware and I still use it time to time and the customer service was brilliant..However  within Months of my Lenovo laptop purchase, its has major hardware issues! Goes to show the Japanese design quality over the Chinese design quality. I strongly suggest not to buy Lenovo laptop, they still have a long way to go to meeting the customer service and laptop design quality of similarly priced Japanese and American laptops!!

Answer:Poor design and poor customer service

i sent of my laptop for repair nearly four weeks ago to ensure i get it before i go voluntering for a month. I was told repairs and returning would take a maximum of 10 working days BUT THIS WAS NOT THE CASE! In addition ive had to ring lenovo customer service a number of timesand only twice did i encounter people that genuinely wanted to help me! (of which i really appreciate). Ive run up a phone bill of £19, the first timewas 10 days after sending my laptop and i find out lenovo FORGOT TO TELL ME ABOUT REPAIR COSTS! they promptly got me to pay the £92 which i reluctantly agreed to and was told i should get it within 5 working days! I ring 5 days later, and they forgot to send off my payment approval, again i had to PAY AND WASTE TIME TO REMIND THEM THIS!  I appreciate the warranty extension they have now given, but mostly i desperately need my laptop before i go volunteering for a month! i was promised to get my laptop latest tuesday (ie today) but it still hasnt arrived and i leave thursday morning. Massively inconvienient and any help to get my laptop before then would be greatly appreciated! I cant be bothered to be angry any more, just DISAPPOINTED AND DESPERATE TO GET MY LAPTOP BACK!!!!

My son was given a laptop for his birthday last year and it has a cracked hinge.
After much research I've learned that this is a very common problem in this laptop. We called customer care center 2 different times and stayed on the phone for at least an hour each time. We were told a box would be sent out for repair. His laptop was still under the 1yr warranty at this time.
Today, we called again to get some answers and they have no record of us calling. (Surprise, surprise!) We still have not received any return box and his warranty has now, of course, expired.
I will never purchase another Dell product again in my life! Also I'll warn everyone I know to stay far away from your products.

A 16 yr old kid has a "new" computer that he uses a stack of books to prop the screen to use his $400 laptop! (because of a cheap screws and plastic casing)
This is unacceptable and shame on you Dell!

Hi,I just bought a Thinkpad X1 Carbon 20BS with Windows 7 and the sound quality in headphones is just terrible. No bass and a lot of strange noices. I updated the bios via BIOS update utility and also installed the realtek HD audio driver. It had almost no effect. I tried uninstalling the drivers and using the default Windows drivers which gave even worse sound quality. I don't have the Dolby* tools installed and I also uninstalled Realtek Audio manager and only updated the driver manually. I also tried drivers from directly with no luck. Any ideas what else should I try?Thank you!

I wish to share what could had easily been a wonderfull experience (very good hardware engineering) but is becoming a painfull one due to very poor service and customer relation. We recently acquired (January 22nd) a Lenovo X1 Carbon  2nd Generation. The computer was delivered in The Netherlands on the January 28th. I opened myself the box on the January 29th. I should mention that 1-2 days after Lenovo released the 3rd Generation in The Netherlands. It was also curious to detect that when I bought the computer there were pictures of all the three generations and on the site there is nothing saying which generation we were acquiring. In the specifications of the site it was also mentioned that the computer came with a 4 on 1 Card reader which is not provided in the delivered hardwere (yep - this was mentioned in the website when we purchase it and in the final specifications we selected) - in Europe this is said to be an illegal practice. I was not so concerned about that since I understood at the start the messy work with the images however I was not expecting it with the specifications - it became a surprise box (on the bad sense). On the January 30th evening I had detected a visible cable in the back of the screen, already with stress damage and wiring visible (see images below - note: i was not able to upload the images since the forum engine is always refusing their upload....). I am in Belgium today and I had contacted the Belgium Len... Hi folks, It has been about 10-11 months since I bought my X1 Carbon 3rd gen. (2015), with 512GB SSD. It comes with ThinkPlus warranty, which says battery is also covered for 3 years.A month back, my battery started getting discharged very quickly when not on AC power. I checked the the Lenovo app, which says: "The battery is in poor condition"."The battery can only store 52.9% of its original full charge capacity". Its "Design Capacity" is 50.22Wh, but now its Full Charge capacity is about 26-27Wh! Cycle count is 288. I've never used any other AC adapter, except the original that came with it.Questions:1. Is it covered under warranty? This degradation is not normal and I believe there's a replacement I can do. 2. Warranty page for my serial number on Lenovo's site lists 3 warranties:i. 3 year limited warrantyii. 3 year ThinkPlus warranty and "The battery is also covered for 3 years". iii. "The battery included within this product is entitled to a 1 year on-site warranty. Please note that this may differ from the warranty of the base product itself." So, is my battery covered for 3 years OR 1 year?

I am using a Toshiba Satellite L355D-S7815 (not brand new, but not terribly old). Recently its performance has decreased pretty drastically. Booting the computer takes quite some time, although my primary machine is very quick and running windows 7 which boots quickly so maybe I am just spoiled? Also, at boot time, after the screen with the microsoft window logo and the sideways scrolling loading bar below, the screen is black for maybe 20-30 seconds before windows actually loads. When opening a new browser window or clicking a link on the internet it freezes up for about 10-15 seconds before anything happens. On a few occasions I have actually had it completely power off while I was using it (not shut down, but just straight up turn off). Things like this are starting to add up and really worry me. It seems like my fan has stopped working (an issue I have had with a previous laptop, also a Toshiba Satellite) because there is no air current where it should be blowing out hot air and the area on the side where the fan is supposed to blow out gets too hot to touch when I don't use my external fan. I'm using Vista 32-bit with Service Pack 2. My hardware details are included in a text file. I'm using AVG Avast Antivirus and scan regularly. I have also scanned for registry errors etc. and fixed all the problems that were found. I am wondering if maybe a reformat would help? Maybe switch to Windows 7 or XP? That's kind of a last resort though because in my exper... Read more

I have a really annoying problem. I've been using my SL500 (2746-4eg) for about two years, but I found this problem only  recently: my build-in mic is very bad quality. When using VoIP people can't hear me almost at all - sound level is very low. I used other software to check it but it still fails. Tried boosting, changing levels, SmartAudio settings - no result (or can say from bad to worse). Maybe someone have any ideas? Thank you.

I have been updating a friend's Toshiba Satellite L50-B-205 notebook with Windows 10 64-bit installed. The performance of this notebook is beyond poor, in spite of disabling not required Windows services like Superfetch, assuring that no malware is affecting the computer with many antivirus programs and scans, even so this is the time it takes to start the computer:

- from switching on until the login screen: 75 seconds
- from login password until the desktop appears (without further software loading): 30 seconds

As a comparison, my desktop computer which I assembled, with only an Intel G3260 processor (while the Toshiba notebook has an Intel i5), but with 8 GB of ram and a ssd drive:

- from switching on until the login screen: 9 seconds
- from login password until the desktop appears (without further software loading): 3 seconds

Is it normal that this notebook with Windows 10 installed performs so poorly? If not, any suggestions on where to look for improvement?

Thank you for your help.

Hi all.

I've noticed this since I got my laptop (L500-1XL) that every few days a message comes up, then disappears but a red warning sign is left on the security section of the Bulletin Board, and if I hover the pointer over it, it says "poor".

What does that mean?
What am I supposed to do with that vague information?
Anyone else have that problem?

I have anti-virus installed, updated, running, is registered with Windows and Windows doesn't register a problem.
I've a firewall running fine.
I don't get it! What's poor?

Answer:Toshiba Bulletin Board warns about poor security

I think it has nothing to do with the notebook security.
The Toshiba bulletin board provides a lot of information;
Networks/Wlan, PC health monitor, security, PC diagnostic, Eco utility?
Maybe the notification means WLan signal strength ?:|

Sorry but it?s really hard to say what it is without having more details?
However, here is an Toshiba Bulletin website from Toshiba:

near old 1 week i purchaed a Z10T-A140 ultrabook .
Then i active Toshiba Health Monitor and can view HDD status.

But for battery show it is poor !
Why my battery show poor ?

Thank you .

Answer:Portege Z10T-A140: Toshiba Health Monitor shows poor battery

This is nothing unusual for new batteries.
You should know that new batteries need to be calibrated firstly to reach the best performance.

Calibrating means that the battery has to be charged fully and then discharged until it?s fully empty. This procedure should be repeated several times in the row. After that you can check the battery status provided by health monitor again

Have a two-yr old laptop with XP Home. Have been using Iomega 100 ZIP drives for data backup, software under XP is very slow.Looking to improve backup in two ways: 1 switch to CD for (monthly) full data backup plus SanDisk 256 gadget for weekly differentials, and 2) find better software. Ideally, software would include data compression as well as allow use of the two media. Is Nero a good bet, or Easy CD Creator? Other suggestions? Thanks in advance for pointing me in right direction,Edward

Answer:suggest good backup software for CD/SanDisk combo

Nero I like best but it may be due to familiarity.I tried Pinacle recently which was preinstalled, but disliked it and installed Nero instead.

Well, I've booted up my ultimate gaming rig, and I've run into several snags. First, the only problems were there was no sound, it wasn't recognizing the hardware etc. All this time, it was not hooked up to the internet, as I hadn't found the Earthlink disc yet. I finally found my old Earthlink disc, though it had never been used before. I installed the Earthlink software, connected to the internet, and before you can say lickety split, as I'm trying to find the proper drivers to get my hardware to work properly, I start getting an error message almost identical to the telltale signs of the Blaster worm....only I'd not downloaded anything other than the Earthlink settings. Could I have picked up the Blaster worm and any other virii from the Earthlink disc, or downloading the settings?

My system specs are roughly:

AMD Athlon 2500+ XP, Barton Core
1 Gig Mushkin low latency overclockers RAM
DFI Lanparty Ultra MOBO
Radeon 9600 XT
US Robotics 56k Modem
Dual 120 Gig Seagate HDD
Pioneer DVD-RW
Optorite CD-RW
Alps Floppy Drive
500 Watt Powmax Modded Power Supply (Heavy as hell, it's a good'un)

<edit>I've gone through the motions to get it to stop doing the damned restarts....Patched the baby, now I just need to get whatever other creepy crawlies off it and make my hardware and drivers work right. <edit>

Well, I just got my X1 Carbon yesterday.  So far, not so good.I have i7 with 8GB of RAM, 256 SSD and WWAN.  Pretty much maxed out on the upgrades. 1. The computer is litterally crooked.  When I place it on a hard flat surface (my kitchen counter), it doesn't lay flat.  There is about 1 mm gap below the front right rubber foot and the counter.  So every time I touch the trackpad, I get a click from the laptop tapping on the counter. Lovely.  This is annoying as hell.  Poor workmanship by Lenovo. 2. USB 3.0 Dock is an absolute joke.  I am using the Targus ACP71USZ.  They are all the same, regardless of which model you buy, since they all use Displaylink technology.  On the m,onitors connected to the dock, the mouse responds with tiny delays, so it is very annoying and difficult to accurately point the mouse. Its bad with both HDMI and DVI.  HDMI is worse.  Ethernet, is pathetic.  I don't even get a 1mb download speed at  Other computers on the same copnnection get over 20mb.  Ping was 800ms vs 5ms for other computers.  Absolutely pathetic.  Wifi gave me 7mb with 100ms ping.  Then I tried connecting the ethernet cable to the dongle that comes with the X1, directly to the X1, and not the dock.  I got 18mb and 5ms ping.  Much better, but this adds to the fact that the dock is a $200 peice of garbage. The only good way to use an external monitor is via the mi... Read more

Ok, so I'm new here and I apologize if I'm not supposed to post my log file right away. Thing is, I've ran everything I own on my computer: spybot, adaware, ewido, zone alarm, CSWShredder, and a few others, and nothing has fixed my problem.

My computer has gotten progressively slower, much slower than it should be for being less than a year old. Whenever I play a game, for example, Battlefront 2, the FMV sequences tend to freeze and the audio repeats the last second or so of where it froze, then continues to play, then repeats the problem. Another problem with my computer is that when I run iTunes, I play a song, then scroll through my playlist and the audio again repeats and the text "jumbles up" on each other.

The title of the post has the first symptoms of my computer slowing down. I tried to play a CD in my drive, but the audio was distorted and very slow. I got the same results when I tried to play a DVD: a skipping image and poor, slow, distorted audio.

Here's my HiJackThis log, unknown if you guys can do anything about it, but I'm hoping for some help. Thanks, guys.

Hi guys,

I have been asked by a friend to recommend a good laptop.
He needs a machine suitable for displaying good photography images and needs a fairly rugged machine suitable for travel.
Any advice very much appreciated.
He has a preference for Toshiba but is open to good advice.

Answer:Whats a good Toshiba

Well, Toshiba have the best rep as far as my last 6 have gone, my original 1989 T1000 still goes (but is useless for doing anything but DOS now).

But "rugged" is not a word I would ever describe for any but the quite unsuited commercial Panasonic "ruggedised" workbooks (that are not overly portable or suited for the task), although my present Toshiba has this week alone survived 4 flights in checked luggage...given that I watched the case being thrown onto the plane today (from the sanctuary of the Koru lounge) it is surprising....

Aim for the Centrino or Core Duo Mobile CPU, not anything with a fast desktop CPU in it.
No way of dissipating the heat.

Although I presently only have a 1.5 GHz Celeron Mobile, its performance equates to about my P4 2 GHz desktop in real life use for me.

The new "brightscreen, clearview etc" glossy screens do seem to be better.

As I am quite colourblind, don't ask about colour rendition though!

Answer:How can I remove Toshiba and Google for good?

I assume you mean you want "Internet Explorer". That is a browser, same as Firefox or Chrome (if you are familiar with either of these alternatives). Your homepage is something completely different. It is wherever your browser first goes to when you open it. It's therefore difficult to interpret your question. I will assume you want to use Internet Explorer browser and you wish to set a homepage of your choice. Hi experts and guru's. Toshiba Satellite L355D-S7813 Model# PSLE0U-00R00J (those are all zeroes)Opened laptop from hibernation this a.m. and noticed the low battery indication was at 8% remaining and flashing red, indicating that the battery was not charging. The AC icon was showing as plugged in, so the computer at least recognized the adapter but I was still getting the flashing red warning that the battery was not charging. It soon dropped to 5% and then minutes later shut down. I assumed tghe AC adapter which I had just bought 3 months ago to replace the OEM one that went bad, also went bad. But it is putting out 18.5vdc which is within the output parameters of 15vdc - 24vdc.Not knowing why this would make any sense, I pulled the battery and tried to power it up on the cord alone, but it would not power up. I double checked my readings on the adapter and it showed a solid 18.5vdc, so the problem is in the hardware. I made sure the two small + inner pins inside the female portion of the connector are making contact with the male pin inside the female portion of the laptop AC port are mating and they are. I even spread the pins inward slightly with a jeweler just to make sure. Couple of months ago or so, I tripped across the power cord and broke the computer AC port inside the chassis and could not access it, so I had to disassemble it, epoxy the part back in place, and it has been working perfectly ever since. I am going to disassemble and do a visual, but the port is... Read more

Answer:Toshiba Satellite won't accept good AC~

You have bad connections somewhere.  Every laptop I am familiar with will function on the adapter with no battery.  The fact that the computer recognizes that the adapter is connected, only tells you it sees voltage present.  If the adapter is not supplying current, it won't charge the battery or run the computer.  You have to test the adapter with a load on it, which is not easy to do.  BTW, with the computer off and the adpater connected, the indicator lights should indicate state of charge.  I think your epoxy repair has let loose.  You can get replacement power plugs and solder them to the motherboard.  There are shops that specialize in this repair, since it's so common.

I have a Toshiba Satellite A135-S4527 running Vista which has been passed back to me by a family member since it no longer booted. The battery was not only dead but was down to 2.2 Volts from the original (nominal) 10.8 Volts. The laptop will not power up from the AC adapter whether the battery is installed or not.

I replaced the battery, battery pack PA3465U-1BRS, pluged in the adapter and got the following results:

- laptop booted
- the blue AC power LED was lit
- the yellow battery indicator was lit
- the battery icon, displayed charging
- the percent charge of the battery was slowly going down.

I measured the voltage at the adapter while the laptop was running, it was 19.4 Volts. The device is marked 19V.

I've saved a few files and now replacement battery is at 0% capacity.

many thanks in advance,

Looking at new screens, even with 4K or retina resolution, I am disappointed in them compared to my old one from 2005,
Toshiba Qosmio G25-AV513, 17-inch, 1440x900 wxga-plus laptop with TruBrite display.
Toshiba's TruBrite may refer to an anti-reflective top layer (polarizer) to a glossy screen.
I hear Sony xbrite and hp briteview did the same thing.
I hear that matte is richer than glossy,
but glossy with anti-reflectant is richer than matte.
Are there any current laptops with a related screen?
The TruBrite result is richer, brighter, more detail, better blacks than current screens I have seen.
The new screens, even 4K and retina, seem to me cooler, more distant, flatter, more simplified, less body, harder, less subtle than my wonderful trubrite.
It is almost as though the TruBrite image exists within a rectangular shallow "box" rather than simply on a flat surface. How can this be?????
Please, can you help me to find a current laptop screen, USA, any price, that can measure up for looking at my art photos! Also, could you mention whether you have seen a TruBrite screen and whether you know the reason for the "magic" I describe.

I am new to the forum, but not new to computing. I recently started having problems with this Vista Home Premium box not being able to resolve DNS names for only computers on my home network (all others XP boxes or Windows Server 2003). It can ping the IP addresses of the local boxes. It doesn't have a problem connecting to the internet. But this is a big problem when it comes to sharing files within my local network.

I have disabled Windows Firewall and McAfee Firewall and Services to try and diagnose the problem.

I have been googling this for a couple of days looking for ideas, but I have none. I have validated that DNS is running. NETBios over DHCP is enabled. Subnet mask is 255.255.255. DHCP and DNS server IP is correct.

Anything that anyone could point me to try? I am out of ideas.

Answer:Ping on Workgroup Computer Names Bad / IP Addresses Good / Internet Good

Unless you've got a DNS server running at home, it's rather unlikely that DNS is being used to resolve names of your home computers when pinging by name. Instead, the machine does a broadcast (on the local segment) to the effect of "if you're called XYZ, please get back to me and tell me your IP address".

If that's not working for you, my first inclination would be to suspect firewalls on the other machines - not necessarily on the machine exhibiting symptoms. Try disabling and even uninstalling (3rd-party) firewalls while you're troubleshooting, and also test what happens when all machines are booted to [safe mode + net].

Even a news or sports or YOUtube video12 seconds long takes a couple of stops to get through. Radio stations I used to listen to cut in and out now for buffering. This seemed to start a couple of months ago. Are there any settings on my system I can change or tweak to speed downloads up or deal with videos or sort this out. Here is what I have done to narrow the problem:

Turned off the wireless and plugged the DSL cord right into my laptop---same performance and same speed tests results.

Made sure only one of the two computers is change

Tried the same video on my laptop or my wife's PC....same performance

Try to have the video on pause so everything can download sometimes...but can take a long time for some videos.

Keep my system clean with weekly virus/spyware scans and Defender is also on.

Hello! I am moving to a quasi remote area - I say quasi because it's a place with nothing but rich people who own horses and a lot of land and a cool central town, but because of the remoteness of the area, NOBODY - yes I checked and I do mean NOBODY - can provides internet access to the place I'm moving into.
Therefore, as someone who uses the internet a lot for everything from my phone to pc/xbox 360 gaming to work on my laptop to simple browsing, etc., my only option is to change my current phone plan with AT&T to on of their Mobile Share plans, which will allow my pc/xbox to access internet through my phone (a Lumia 1520), either wirelessly or plugging the phone directly into the devices.
All of that is fine. EXCEPT.
I visited the place last week and while I get reception out there, at least that day it averaged about 2-4 bars of 4g reception, whereas in my current apartment/area I can get 3-5 bars of LTE.
Now, I still have to test how well my laptop and xbox perform on the 2-4 bar 4G level of reception, I came across something that recommended getting one or both of these things called "smart signal boosters" and "cellular repeaters." I know nothing about them, but if one or both can help me boost my signal to LTE-level quality, I'm VERY interested in purchasing.
That said, I don't know anything about those items, and I want to purchase the right items the first time.
So, my question is, does anyone have any experience or knowledge about signal boosters and/or cellul... Read more

So far, at least in my room (where for me it really only matters since my office and gaming stuff is in here) I have gone from an average of 1-3 bars with an occaisional 4th bar to now averaging 4-5 (full) bars with the occaisional 3rd bar. All still 4G, which is a tad disappointing since I was hoping I'd get boosted to LTE, but after testing it out on a few of my pc games it is totally sufficient and my games play great - with perhaps the occaisional crazy lag that lasts all of 5-10 seconds and hasn't happened all that frequently.
Overall, I would say, at least so far after a few hours of use, I'm satisfied with my purchase. If anyone has any questions, post them below.

Was wondering if the Sonicwall NSA 240 with the TotalSecure package or whatever is a good unit for the price? Looking to spend under 1,500$, and keep yearly maintenance costs low. Basically just need 1 vpn user, virus protection, malware, firewall, router. Those are pretty much the only things that will be using on it. For a small business 20 people or so in size.

Also where is a good place to buy this from?

Would i be better to build something with an open source program? Last i checked i didn't think they had virus protection and what not. Thanks.

Answer:Sonicwall NSA 240 TotalSecure (Good place to buy, good unit for price?)

Untangle does all of those things, and support will be much cheaper than Sonicwall.

I have a Toshiba and Hitachi drive in particular the Toshiba DT01ACA300 and the Hitachi HDS723020BLA642 HDD models and I was wondering what is a good tool to use to check them? I think Hitachi has a HDD diagnostic tool I just don't know if my HDD is a support model for it the website doesn't give me a list of supported models so I can't tell if it's safe to use with my HDD and Toshiba doesn't appear to make their own.

Answer:Whats a good HDD diagnostic tool to use with my Toshiba and Hitachi drive?

You can use Windows to check for errors by right clicking the drive. That's the simplest way without downloading various tools. The tools made by drive manufacturers have a lot of other options for configuring and even partitioning your drives but that does not sound like what you're looking for.

Toshiba normally make good laptops. However I tend to go more for the Satellite Pro or Tecra Range as the build is a better quality.

Once in a while, I get a pop up reminding me to perform a 'system recovery' and states it is highly recommended. It's suggested I do it myself or I can go to: and they will but I haven't checked into that. I've checked various sites pertaining to this and many claim there are problems. I don't know if I should do this or not. Each time the reminder pops up, I just check 'remind me later' and been doing that the past 8 or 9 times. Just wondering. Thanks

Answer:Perform Win7 System recovery - good or not so good to do?

There is already a recovery partition on the hard drive. It's up to you if you want recovery CDs or not. Go to that site, read what they have to offer & make a decision. I ordered recovery CDs for my win 7 laptop from Lenovo. That's another choice that they may offer. The world is full if rats, Republicans & Democrats.

I'm going to school in the next couple of weeks for my Computer Science degree. The school I'm going to mainly uses Linux for their classes. And I need a laptop.

What are some laptops I should be looking into with good Linux support?

Answer:Good, somewhat inexpensive laptop with good Linux support

I'm no Linux expert, but as far as I know, HP has decent Linux support. Dell also has a new line of laptops made specifically for Linux and come preloaded with a distro. I think it's Ubunutu but I can't remember. I'm not a big Dell fan, but they're still pretty inexpensive and probably worth checking out.

Hello All,
This is my first post to this forum. I will make it short. I've had my PC for nearly two years now. I've never had an issue. I run Mozilla Firefox as my default Internet Browser and I've always liked it. Yesterday, I sat down to see that there was a new update. Like always, I downloaded. Then, when I went to browse the internet for a bit, it could not load the page. I then tried rebooting my router. No help. I tried Internet Explorer. Same thing. I then tried Chrome. Same thing. Only this time, on Chrome, it said something like "Error 101; Connection reset error". My roommate, who is in networking, and I tried several different things. Nothing seemed to do the trick. This issue is on my desktop, but, my laptop and roommates desktop work just fine. So, I'm guessing it must be something with my machine. I've looked up the Error 101 thing on google and I have seen many different forums, but no real fixes, if there is one. I'm curious to know if anyone might now a remedy for this problem. I've tried running my AVG and Spybot programs but they have found nothing. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance to all who read.--In Him, Joseph W. Brackins

Hi , Ive got some trouble with my pc , its a desktop acer pc and i bought it new from the store 3years ago and never touched his insides cause it worked perfectly untill now. I did check every cable , inside the pc and the power cable outside the pc. I couldnt find any wire that wasnt connected good, or any broken wire. The problem however is that when the pc is off it wont turn on easy, sometimes i have to press the button for 1000times before it starts. Also what is very weird is when the pc is on , it never goes off by itself as it should untill i press the normal off button in the startmenu, and it works perfect when its on. Also sometimes when I am trying to turn it on by pressing the button while touching the power cable , the fan of the computer turns on , but the pc itself is off and doesnt start. I hope you can help me with this problem soon.

Does anybody know of a good music player that has a good Equalizer? IMO, the equalizer sucks for WMP 11, realplayer free, and my sound card.

I like the PowerAMP app for my android, the equalizer has a sick bass. but it's not available on pc.

Answer:good music player with good Equalizer?

I have no idea what you mean by "good" or "sick", but most players have equalizers.

Media Monkey and I-Tunes, for instance.

Equalizers either lower or raise certain frequency bands--if they don't do that, they are broken. Some may control different bands than others, but they all use the same principles.

I am really unsure if this is the right section or not, but I really need to know if this is a good laptop and I am getting my moneys worth. Again if this is the wrong section PLEASE move.

BTW: This is a laptop.

I might be purchasing the following for $800, LMK wut u think.

Dell Inspiron 5150 Laptop:

Pentium 4 Processor 3.06 GHZ
Upgraded Liquid Crystal Display with ultra high resolution options
1.25 GB Kingston RAM, upgradable to 2GB
64MB ATI Radeon 9000 Mobility Video Card
60GB Harddrive

So we're looking at basically 1 gig ram, 3GHZ

The whole comp itself is basically upgraded to all ends. The screen does look really nice as it is a liquid display.

The RAM is very high for a laptop and the processor beats the doors off most of the previous comps which I have had (2.39GHZ)

I am getting a laptop because I travel mostly. I also game alot.

I know the video card isnt best for high end games but I play a game called Diablo mostly which requires next to nothing, altho I will replace the video card soon. How much would it cost to upgrade to a decent one do u think?

So I think its a pretty fast system, good deal?

Answer:Good Deal/Good Comp? (Laptop)

i dont really compare laptop prices but the prices seems pretty good to me. that is one power laptop in my opinion. way faster than mine.

Im new to the forums, so if im not following forum rules feel free to correct me.

Ive tried reading a bit, and im getting that my black sceen problem is fairly common and that i can have several reasons.

Now, for more details: Ive had my computer for 2,5 years. 2 months back i decided to install an 120 gb SSD drive for my system disk and upgrade to win 7. After the upgrade and install I was all smiles as the performance boost from the SSD was all it was cracked up to be and more. Then struck after approx 6 weeks as the comp would not wake up after hibernating. The mouse cursor was visible, but nothing on the screen. Restart didnt help, and starting in safetymode gave the same result.

As i actually have good back up in place ( yey me) i didnt bother much about it and went ahead and did a system format and clean install. That worked great for a total of 10 days and it happened again.

Ive once again reinstalled, but as it annoys me to the brink of throwing my comp off the porch id like to find the source of the problem.

A relevant issue may be that ive had a bit of problems with my cabled network connection since the upgrade. Every now and then it loses connection to the cabled network and jumps to the WLAN. When i tell it to repair it works and it says that an IP conflict has been fixed.

Ive gathered from what ive read in the forums that error dumps and logs are essential. Obv i dont have any due to format. Also I guess hardware specs is important. Ive ran Be... Read more

You were very specific in your specs thanks for that, I don't see any note of bios updates applied.
Asus has quite a few of them one apparently to address a display initialization issue.
When updating the bios you only need the most recent. Make sure you know how to use the EZ flash feature of the asus board to. It's the best way to flash a bios I know of.

There's a very common problem with computers nowadays and that is that mass-produced factory computer such as Dell and Compaq (HP) prefer to not only install what they want on your new, off-the-shelf, computer but they also insist on backing up the operating system to a partition on your hard drive and refuse to give you a physical copy in the instance that you ever need to format and reinstall.

The backup partition that they create is not invincible and can be easily infected and overwritten during your online adventures which means that you will never get a clean start no matter how many times you format and reinstall.

Once warranty has expired it's costly to get any help from these factory companies and Microsoft usually won't have anything to do with you insisting that you're using the factories OEM software and therefore have to refer to your PC manufacture for most situations.

The alternative, when buying a new PC, is using your local neighborhood mum & pop shop. If you can find a local, freindly, computer shop that you trust you can pretty much insure yourself that you're going to get A: a clean install & B: a hard copy of your operating system on disk.

Also, if you keep up a good relation with mum & pop you don't ever have to worry about the expiration of a warranty or having to sit through pricey and outsourced calls to tech support because you can always walk back into the mum & pop shop and speak directly with the ... Read more

I have about a 5 year old computer i will tell you the specs.

MSI (VIA) MS-6309 v2.0 - Motherboard
850Mhz Intel Celeron - now overclocked to 1Ghz
40GB Western Digital 5400rpm HDD(now slave) - now with a second 7200 40GB as master
it came with a (tornado?) video card but i now upgraded to a NVIDIA GeForce FX5200 which is a 256MB AGP 8x card.

I got it because it was at a VERY good price and it out of the packet but my friend builds computers and he got the wrong gfx card so he sold this one to me cheap... my computer is an AGP 4x. I understand i cant upgrade that unless i get a new motherboard. I have drivers that microsoft installed by itself (Nvidia GeForce FX5200 Microsoft Corporation) is it worth going to the nvidia website and upgrading to their drivers? my computer is really old and slow and i want to get the best performance out of this card... I dont think i can run games like Need For Speed Underground 2 can i? because i have a slow processor? i tried to play Halo Trial downloaded from microsoft but it went to the loading screen at the start but then just shut down before it got to the menu.

My point is... what can i do to get maximum performance out of this card but without increasing the startup items too much etc

This is a problem that is continuous for about 2 years. I have about 10 new floppy disks and 2 computers, one with WIN 2000 and one with WIN 98. 4 of the disks are not readable on the 2000 computer, but they run just fine on the 98 computer. The error I get on the WIN 2000 is "The disk in drive A is not formatted. Do you want to formatted it now?". I have changed the floppy drive but no luck in solving the problem. I have tried those floppy disks on other computers and the same error I get on WIN NT, 2000, and XP. I have also tried these disks on WIN 98 and 95 and they seem to be just fine. An intersting thing happens sometimes, and that is when I browse the floppy on the 98 computer the problem is solved, however not all the times. I beleive it is a Windows 2000 problem, however I don't really know why this is happening. If you can help me, I would really appreciate it.

Well there's many things to address here ... In this moment i use adwcleaner and combofix when it is request, but i dont use a complete suite how ASC.ComboFix is a very powerful reporting and scripting tool that was developped by sUBs, used by members of the malware removal team here on BleepingComputer (and also on other forums). This tool can easily break a Windows installation if poorly and/or wrongly used. It can make the whole system unbootable and also delete everything present on your drives (leaving you with close to no chance of recovery) or damage your Windows installation so badly that you would be forced to reinstall it. Therefore, you should not be using ComboFix unless you are in one of the two situation listed below:You have been trained in an online malware removal forum to use ComboFix;You are using it under the supervision and instructions of a trained malware removal professional on BleepingComputer or another recognized malware removal forum (UNITE forums for example); If you have any questions or concerns about ComboFix, quietman7 wrote a FAQ on it and you'll find all your answers in it.ComboFix usage, Questions, Help? - Look hereAlso be aware that BleepingComputer doesn't provide any advice on how to use ComboFix on your own, due to the nature of the tool and how dangerous it can be when used without supervision or proper training. Hi community, what think about advanced system care? it's a good program or not ...I saw this program installed in ... My friend asked my a tough question today that I couldn't answer, so i thought that i could come here and ask.

this question is generally for the Canadians out there. With the Canadian dollar dropping down fast (and the prices going up), when should my friend buy his graphics card from a store? Should he wait until the economic slump is over, or should he buy the card now before it goes higher?

the price for the card he wants, and palit hd 4850 ( both of us love that card, I already have it and he want it), has gone up around 40 dollars in the last 2 months, without tax ( tax here in Quebec is really high as well, 12.5%), from 195$ to 235$ ( I feel really sorry for him, he was planning to buy it at 195$ at the store because he had the money, but he couldn't that day because he had family problems to deal with, the next day he came back and the price was up by 15 dollars).

So... Should he wait? he doesn't want to get swindled out of cash, but he also really wants to play new games like crysis on his own computer ( he is running on an integrated card right now, hehe)

Answer:Good time to buy a good graphics card?

I would wait untill our dollar starts getting higher again.
