X220 wireless doesn't work for up to a minute when resuming from sleep or hibernate

Question: X220 wireless doesn't work for up to a minute when resuming from sleep or hibernate

Hello all. I have an X220 with 6201, latest drivers downloaded from the Lenovo site. Whenever I sleep or hibernate, when I resume computer (on Win7) I get either a litte red x or a little glowing orb on my wireless connection, which indicates "Wireless not connected - Connections are available". But I can't connect for up to a minute!! If I leave it alone it will connect on its own. What is going on, this is really becoming a problem!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

If you can't afford to wait a minute of so to reconnect, then use Fn+F5 to turn off all wireless devices before you hibernate and use it again to to switch them back on when you power up again.

Sometimes the brightness controls don't work after resuming from sleep/hibernate... meaning that I can't lower or increase the brightness. All other Fn operations work (webcam controls, projector options, wifi, lock screen), so it's not the Fn button.Volume +/- also works. I have to reboot to get them working again. Any suggestions? thanks

Answer:x230 brightness controls don't work after resuming from sleep/hibernate

Happens to me all the time. Nothing I've tried works to fix it, although I've never been brave enough to update the BIOS. But, the controls usually wake up if I close and reopen the lid.

I am using a USB device that splits out to 2 PS2 ports, one for a mouse, one for a keyboard. It works great, but when I put my X61 into hibernate, the mouse and keyboard do not work when I resume from hibernate. I installed all the relevant patches and power manager drivers from the driver downloads page, but my mouse still doesn't work. Can someone point me to the correct download or shed some light on this? Thank you!

Answer:USB Mouse / Keyboard doesn't work after resuming from hibernate

Does the USB port return from hibernate OK when you have a different USB device plugged into it, perhaps a USB mouse on its own? If so it's not the PC that is at fault. Does the 'USB device' need its own driver? Is it designed to work with the OS you are using? Some old USB devices won't work with Vista.

Hello,

I have a Dell XPS L702X (i5 -2.3 Ghz, 6GB RAM) laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit that has been giving me issues for some time now and I haven't been able to find a solution. Windows explorer works fine when I start the computer. However, after resuming from sleep, 90% of the time trying to open any explorer window (my computer, my docs, etc.) will not work. I can open up documents within their respective applications (a word doc by opening word first, for example). But double clicking folders doesn't do anything, neither from the desktop nor from the start menu. When this happens, I've noticed 2 instances of explorer running in the task manager, in order to get it to work again I have to force quit both of them and log off. When I log on again, it usually works again. HOWEVER, if I leave an explorer window open before putting the laptop in sleep mode, it works fine upon resuming.

All drivers are up to date, as well as the Bios version. This has been driving me crazy for some time, would appreciate if anyone has an solution. Thanks!

Hi,

Could you please help me with this issue. Basically whenever I want to put my PC to sleep or hibernate, the monitor goes black but the computer keeps running. I can hear at least one HDD power down, but the rest of the hardware keeps going, all the fans (CPU, GPU, case), lights etc. I can try clicking the mouse buttons, pushing some keys - nothing; it will keep running until I reset it or cut the power off.
Also, sometimes, when I try to put it to sleep and it works, the problem is that it doesn't stay asleep for too long and it turns on by itself after 5-30mins.

I had suspected it was a messed up Windows, but recently I also formatted my drive and installed a clean Windows and the issue is still there. So I suspect either some program preventing sleep/hibernate or a faulty hardware (if it's possible, because I really don't know how it works).

T440s bought in 2014, and had normal hibernate and sleep mode functions until I did a BIOS update to version 2.29.Sleep mode can start but the computer will wake itself up after a while, and continue to burn through the battery until its dead.Hibernate mode does not work at all anymore. How do I diagnose the core problem? Will updateing to BIOS 2.30 solve the problem?

Answer:T440s wakes from sleep and hibernate doesn't work

Hi Tphallen,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

As per the query we understood that you are facing issue with system not going to sleep mode on your ThinkPad T440s.

Check with updating Graphic driver and power management driver, this should resolve the issue. If the Operating system is Windows 7 also check with updating power manager application.

First check with above steps after that if the issue still persists then you can check with updating the BIOS.

Hope this helps.

Best regards,
Hemanth Kumar

Answer:BSOD after resuming from sleep/hibernate

Hi, msansone; and welcome to the forums. I looked at five dumps and all five blame RTSTOR.SYS for the crash.

Quote:
RTSTOR.SYS Wed Oct 24 22:08:17 2007 - Realtek High-Speed USB Media Card ReaderRealtek

This driver is way out of date. Try to update it from Reltek. If you cannot update the driver, uninstall the card reader; it is obsolete and not compatible with Win 7.

I also find two other obsolete drivers loaded on your system. Older drivers can and do cause BSOD's with Win 7. Update these drivers.

Quote:
sisagpx.sys Wed Jan 24 02:01:26 2007 - SiS NT AGP Filter belongs to SiS (R) NT AGP Filter for Windows XP by Silicon Integrated Systems Corporation. This is an XP driver. Update this driver http://www.sis.com/download/

srvkp.sys Thu Mar 20 07:22:12 2008 - SiS VGA Driver Managerbelongs to the software SiSkp or SiS (R) WindowsXP Display Manager by Silicon Integrated Systems Corporation. http://www.sis.com/download/

Take care of these three drivers, reboot and let's see how your system does.

Hi all,

For the past month or so, I have been getting "Windows recovered from an unexpected shutdown" when turning my laptop back on from hibernate/sleep. Using BluescreenView I get the DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE error caused by ntoskrnl.exe. From my Googling, it seems that ntoskrnl.exe is just a catch-all for another driver misbehaving, and I can't find out which one it is.

I have updated my onboard graphics, graphics card, chipset, Wifi/ethernet, BIOS, and mousepad drivers with the most updated I could fine, but this problem is still happening. After I updated my onboard graphics + graphics card, the problem seemed to go away for a week, but now it's back. The only difference being the Caused By Address in Bluescreen view says "ntoskrnl.exe+770aa" now versus "ntoskrnl.exe+78a8a" before.

Thanks for your help.

Answer:BSOD after resuming from hibernate/sleep

The driver to the Qualcomm Atheros AR5B97 Wireless Network Adapter has failed to complete a power IRP within a specific time; and apparently that is causing the BSODs.

Code:
fffff880`0319e9b8 fffff880`0514cc54Unable to load image \SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS\ts_athwx.sys, Win32 error 0n2
*** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for ts_athwx.sys
*** ERROR: Module load completed but symbols could not be loaded for ts_athwx.sys
ts_athwx+0x100c54
the driver is the latest.

Code:
Image name: athrx.sys
Timestamp: Fri Mar 06 09:02:23 2015 (54F91FC7)
So there is no adequate reason for it other than a conflict with the driver to ar5416 chip, Atheros AR5008 Wireless Network Adapter Service 7.7 (c:\windows\system32\drivers\ts_athwx.sys).

I think you dont you the Atheros AR5008 now, so uninstall the driver for it, and see how the computer runs.

I am posting to this forum looking for a solution to this ridiculous problem of computer not waking up (monitor-wise) when it goes to sleep.  To recreate the issue I merely walk away from computer for 10 minutes or so, come back, monitor is dark.  If I hit any key the other 2 attached montors awake but the monitor on the W540 does not.  I am sick and tired of having to reboot to get it to wake. What I've done over past two months to fix this: Tried many of the suggestions here including going back to previous "Intel" driversTried the newest Bios update  This is a nagging and (in my opion) absolutley unacceptable problem to have.  It's like stepping back 15 years to the infancy stages of laptops.  I don't get it doesn't Lenovo have a QA department?  Obvisouly not. I hate to lump in mulitple problems and won't but I also want to say the touch pad is absolutely a failure.  These two problems make the W540 more of a burden than a help.  As it is now I would never recommend a Lenovo to anyone.   Wake up Lenovo, how many posts like these do you have to see and not do anything?

Sometimes my x230 becomes unresponsive after resuming from sleep/hibernate. The "system" process would take up one core (25%) and the hard disk activity light would stay on all the time. I could switch between applications that were already started, but I couldn't start any new applications, and giving the currently running applications any keyboard or mouse input, would put them in the "not responding" state. The only way I found to get out of this state is to do a cold shut-down... holding on the power button for 5 sec. This hang would happen quite often... about 3-4 out of 10 resumes... very annoying that I would lose the state of all my open applications. I did a system update to the latest driver versions, including a bios update. That seemed to fix the problem... at least for a while... Then it started happening again, althouh less frequently... but it still happens. Any ideas? thanks

Answer:x230 hangs when resuming from sleep/hibernate

hi vicentiu,

thaks for posting.

I'm sorry to hear about the issues you're facing. I understand that there you have installed the latest drivers and BIOS and you mention it has somewhat helped in a short term but just to confirm with you, may I know which lenovo software has been installed on you machine. There are time where by a Lenovo Pre installed software was found to conflict with the system.

Software like McAfee, Rapid Shield , Airbag Protection are best turned off or uninstall as for some reason it was found to conflict from time to time.

Do give it a try and let me know fo the feed back.

Okay so this is an odd problem I've started having. I don't know why it has started happening with hibernate as well. Originally on Vista x64 I always used to use sleep and everything worked perfectly fine, but now randomly on Windows 7 x64, resuming from sleep would end up having my ATI display driver crash and stop responding randomly (it would show up in event viewer). So instead i started using Hibernate, and now when i turn on my computer again, i will see the "Resuming windows" animation. But the screen will be completely black once it gets to the logon screen. I can even type in my password and hear the logon sound, but it will still be black. There are no display driver crashes shown in event viewer for this either.

Any ideas?

Edit: I found a bunch of these in the ACEEventLogSource, don't know if it means anything. Google didn't help.

Backup your data
There's no telling when this will stop working for you.

Uninstall all ATI software from your system.

Install that Display Driver Only and see if the error stop.

So my X220 with the Intel 6205 card is having issues reconnecting to WiFi when resuming from sleep or hibernation. It takes about a minute for it to do so, though occasionally it will reconnect right away. Maybe 1 out of 20. When doing a cold boot or restart, it connects immediately upon the desktop showing up. This was not always the case, in fact when I first got my X220 in June, I have not had this issue.... In fact, I don't know when it started happening, but it was maybe a couple months ago. I just thought it was my old router going bad. Well I got a new router, and it still happens. I have the latest Intel WiFi drivers from Lenovo, and I even tried downgrading to the previous driver from Intel's site. Still the same problem. I tried setting a default profile in access connections, and that does not help. In fact, it behaves the same way if I totally uninstall access connections as well. In fact I tried this on three different brand routers, and I can reproduce it on all of them (Asus, Netgear & TP-Link) so I think this is not a router issue. Other devices in the house reconnect right away with no issues (iPhone 4, PS3, Mac desktop, Dell laptop). I currently have BIOS 1.24, but this was happening with 1.21 and 1.23 as well. My X220 originally came with 1.16, and I haven't updated it until 1.21. Unfortunately I don't remember that far back, if the problem started occuring then. There was a brief discussion about this in another thread, but it went nowhe... Read more

Hi,

I have a Dell XPS 15z (L511z). I've noticed recently that when opening my laptop while its in sleep mode, the computer sounds like its coming to life, but the screen doesn't turn on. After a while, the BSOD shows up and restarts the computer.

Also, I always get the Waiting For Programs To Close message when shutting down, but there are no programs in the list. I usually just let it do its thing and it eventually shuts down.

Please find attached the dumps obtained via SF_Diagnostic_Tool.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Answer:Windows 7 reboots after resuming from Sleep and Hibernate Mode.

Unfortunately no DMP's were included.

Please try this way...
We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

If you are overclocking STOP.

You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

The procedure:

Quote:
* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
*If the files are too large please upload them to a file sharing service like "Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.

To ensure minidumps are enabled:

Quote:
* Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
* Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
* Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
* Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
* Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
* OK your way out.

Often when I put my X220 to sleep...a fe wminutes later, I can wake it up and it resumed from "sleep".  But then sometimes when I put it to sleep...maybe 10 minutes alter when I go to wake it up, I notice the sleep light isn't "pulsing" and it's OFF.  When I press the power button, it does a Hibernation resume...not a sleep wake-up. So sometimes it goes into hibernate mode when I want it to sleep.  Any ideas?   (incidentally, whenever I put it to sleep, I always press Fn-F4). Thanks in advance!

Answer:X220 sleep becomes hibernate

I think I might have found the setting that controls this, but need confirmation. I think it's called "CPU Deep Sleep". it was disabled on the "On AC Power" profile, but for the "On Battery Power" profile, it was enabled. So I disabled it.I think that CPU deep sleep is essentially "hibernation". In that mode, there's no sleep icon list on the lid, no pulsing power light, etc. It's in full hibernate mode and takes longer to wake up than normal 'sleep' mode. Can anyone confirm?

I've just noticed that whenever I do a soft shutdown or sleep or hibernation in Windows 7 on my X220 (BIOS 1.25), the SMART attribute of the SSD (Intel X25-E 64GB) "C0 Unsafe Shutdown Count" always increase by 1, along with the "0C Power Cycle Count". This does not happen when I take out the SSD and test it on another desktop machine. Anyone else noticed this problem?  There are many software that can view the SMART readings of the hard drive, such like AIDA64, CrystalDiskInfo, SSDLife Pro, Intel SSD Toolbox etc.

Answer:X220 potentially killing SSD during each shutdown, sleep and hibernate

Altough I can't say for sure what unsafe shutdown count is, I can assure you that it is not killing your SSD. The worst that can happen if it is what I think (cutting power without flusing the buffer and sending the "shutdown" command, in which case it's the OS's fault, and not lenovo's), it's data loss.

I just installed a new mSATA chip into my 3-yr hold x220 laptop. I noticed that when I took off the wristrest cover to expose the mSATA install site, two loose silver screws came out from the inside of the laptop. I have the screws but could never find where they originally came from. After doing a clean install + windows updates and lenovo drivers, I started seeing the following symptoms: 1. Laptop turns off randomly when put to sleep and physically shaken. "Turn off" means that the green sleep notification light on the screen back turns off and the laptop becomes non-responsive when the power button is held.  Does not turn on at all, let alone resume from sleep. Seems to require shaking the laptop upside down or in a non-upright position. This symptom does NOT occur when the laptop is plugged in or if it is not shaken. 2. Laptop requires a hard reset (taking out battery and holding power button for 10 sec, then reinserting battery) before turning back on. When it turns backon, presents the "windows did not shut down properly" screen. I don't know if the loose screws are related to my issue, but it does seem like this is a hardware issue since the problem only arises when I physically shake the laptop. Has anyone had similar problems or know a solution? Maybe I'm wrong and it's a software issue?

Answer:x220 becomes non-responsive after being shaken in sleep/hibernate/shutdown

After further testing, it seems that the laptop becomes non-responsive after shaking even if in hibernate mode or completely turned off. I don't hear any loose screws or objects moving around when shaking the laptop. The only thing that moves is the battery slightly. My conclusion right now is that it's a motherboard hardware issue, but I still don't know what could be wrong. Most likely a power issue since the symptoms don't occur when the laptop is plugged in and shaken. Does anyone have thoughts?

I can connect a T400s to a monitor using a DisplayPort-to-DVI cable and set it to "Projector only" (via Fn+F7). But when I put the laptop to sleep and resume, the monitor (which goes to sleep after a few seconds when not used) remains asleep and the laptop screen is used. Get an error about "monitor not found" when switching to "Projector only" at that point, but unplugging and replugging the cable causes the display to switch back to the monitor. When I use a Series 3 Mini Dock (with the same cable) the laptop doesn't remember to use the monitor, either, but at least I can switch to "Projector only" mode without having to first diconnect the cable. Anyone else noticed this behavior?

When I first boot up the laptop, the internet works fine. When I close the computer and then open it up later to wake it from sleep mode, the internet doesn't work. The only solution I've found is to reboot the machine. I can ping websites fine using the command prompt, but when I try loading a webpage on Google Chrome or Internet Explorer, nothing loads. On the command prompt, "ipconfig /release" works fine but when I try "ipconfig /renew" the command prompt hangs. The Network card is a Broadcom 802.11n Network Adapter with Hardware ID of PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4727 running on Windows 8 64-bit. 2.  On the Device Manager, navigate to the Broadcom 802.11n Network Adapter > right click and choose properties > on the Power Management Tab, uncheck "allow this computer to turn off this device to save power".

3. If same problem, try to boot into Safe Mode with Networking and observe (if everything works, temporarily turn off your antivirus / security software and boot in normal mode).

I have this exact issue:

A Bluetooth device stops working, and you receive error code 43 together with event 17 after you resume a computer that is running Windows 7 from sleep

It used to happen sometimes on Win 7 32 bit, I've now changed to Win 7 64 bit and I can replicate it everytime I put the machine in and out of sleep.

The only way to fix is to use a different USB mouse to go into Device Manager and disable/re-enable the bluetooth device.

The reason for my post is that I requested the hotfix, yet upon trying to install it, I get a message telling me that it's not applicable for my PC?

Win 7 64 bit Home Premium, SP1, with all available Windows updates installed.

Any further ideas?

Thanks

Usually power state errors like this can be resolved through driver updates too.

I have a Toshiba media center ir remote, logitech wireless keyboard, two logitech mice(MX anywhere, and M515) and a Rii non bluetooth wireless keyboard. When I first set the computer up I had no problems waking from sleep(S3/S4 hybrid) with the ir remote. I could put it in, and take it out of sleep. with the remote.
Also, I could get it to resume from sleep with all of the devices mentioned above. I'm not sure what has changed, but now none of these devices will wake the computer from sleep. I have to manually do it via the power button on the tower.
I have checked, and rechecked my power settings, and under device manager I have made sure the devices are checked as to being allow to wake the computer from sleep. Also, I have disabled selective usb suspend as I read that might cause the issue. But nothing worked. Last, the IR receiver blinks red when it "reads"(or receives) a signal from the remote, and when I try to power on with the remote it does blink as if it is receiving the signal from the remote. But it just won't resume. I have tried everything I can think of, so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Oh, it's not an issue of being able to resume, I want to make that clear. I can resume, but only from the power button. It's just any user inputs that gives me issues.

I have HP pavillion DV6703TX laptop and there is a problem with brightness in it. When it resumes from sleep its brightness change control stops working, means it cannot be changed either by F7 and F8 keys or by power management option in vista settings. Also brightness option in windows mobility center is not shown after this happens, every other options like sound, battery state shows on hitting WIN+X. So to change brightness I have to restart windows then it works completely fine and brightness option also shows on mobilty center box. Is there any hotfix for this like there was one for sound problem after sleep in vista. I have upgraded the latest available video driver on driver download support section but the problem persists. please help :-(

All, first I tried to get it to sleep in this thread.  I had that working for about a month just fine.  Then I noticed that about half the times I pull it out of my bag it is on fire, the fan is running and the battery is dead or just about dead.  Clearly it is not sleeping correctly. Either closing the lid of selecting sleep from the start menu does turn off the screen the way it should and it appears to sleep.  But most of the time the fan doesn't actually turn off (I have to hold the corner up to ear to hear/feel the hot air) and I guess its not really sleeping. Im not sure what to try to do to troubleshoot this.  I know I really don't want to have to shut down every time I need to close the lid. Anyone have any thoughts? Thanks in advance.  Machine info:UEFI BIOS Version: 8DET50WW (1.20)UEFI BIOS Date: 2011-07-07Embedded Controll Version: 8ZHT25WW (1.09)Machine Type Model: 4286CTOCPU Type: Intel Core i7-2620MInstalled Memory: 8192MBSSD main HD

I have had this same thread in Networking forums with no response and am now trying it here.

My adapter is always gone from resuming from sleep. I know it was working before. Just changed my ram and bios settings from a fresh build. Went from Corsair xms3 to G.Skill Ripjaws.

I am having this same issue with my newly built pc. The drive running Windows 7 is from a laptop where the mobo died. I am using it in AHCI mode because my case has a front hot swap caddy.

I have a Gigabyte Z68X-UD3H-B3 mobo and after installing and uninstalling drivers, software, changing settings, removing ram, changing power options to maximum power for pci card and wifi, turning off hibernate, restarted, rebooted, updated all drivers from Gigabyte, chipset drivers, etc. I have unchecked "allow Windows to turn off this device". Restarted and tested and I get the same issue. I have unchecked this box in all of my networking devices too including, 802.11n Wireless Lan Card #2 and Microsoft Virtual Wifi Miniport Adapter. Also, uninstalled and reinstalled these and updated drivers from my disc that came from Gigabyte as well as driver update from the Gigabyte website.

Nothing I do will turn on my wifi card after sleep. Windows will not see a network adapter. In device manager, there is no wireless card, even after showing hidden devices. Hi,

I have a Dell Inspiron 17R 5737, running Windows 8.1.

my laptop does not go to sleep or hibernate. each time I close the lid, or press the power button it seems that it forcefully shut down or go to sleep/hibernate and then shuts down immediately "the shut down screen does not appear". When i start the laptop opening the lid/ pressing the button, it starts as if it were properly shut down.

I am aware of the options that I can adjust for sleep/ hibernate/ or shut down, when the lid is closed/ the power button pressed. the problem also exists when giving a "Sleep/ hibernate" order from the start menu.
I have tried several suggested solutions on the web. I have updated the Bios " whatever that does", and several other drivers. I have tried running a "PowerCfg -energy" test on the command prompt, " several people mentioned that by using this test the found a driver that is requesting the computer to not sleep, but i found no such errors. i ran a few tests on Dell.com to check for any problems but everything seems OK.

also, when the laptop is sitting idle for a while and it goes automatically for sleep, it does not wake up by moving mouse/ clicking on the power button, I have to shut it down by holding the power button, then press it again to turn it on.

as I remember the problem first appeared after updating the windows from 8.0 to 8.1

please help, and thanks in advance

Ok, so I have my HTPC set to go to sleep after an hour and hibernate after 2. However, it seems to just turn off the monitor. Same thing happens if I go to Start -> Shutdown -> Sleep. It doesn't really go to sleep. Any ideas what is wrong here? Thanks.

Answer:Computer doesn't want to go to sleep or hibernate

Got the rig configured to share media files? I'm guessing you have, considering it's a HTPC. If media sharing is enabled in your networking configuration then sleep will be disabled. That's just how it works. A machine which is serving out media files can't be in standby/sleep/whatever.

For the past couple of weeks I've found something strange: the battery on my X220 doesn't start charging if I plug the power connector when the laptop is OFF/Hybernate/Sleep. The battery charging indicator stays OFF all the time. As soon as I turn it on the battery indicator starts showing me it's charging and the power monitor taskbar widgets confirms so.  I've been updated to the last BIOS versions (there were two in the past weeks if I remember correct) and this thing happens under all three versions (old one and the two new ones). Is there an option in the BIOS I'm missing? Everything else related to charging/discharging seems fine to me.

Since I remmember I use my laptop with enable sleep and hibernate features.
A couple of days ago it started not to restart after sleep or hibernate.

You have to take ou the battery and AC power and then it starts but without assuming the sleep/hibernate.

Another thing is that when you press the switch on button the AC power led, which is green normally, it starts blinking yellow with some sort of a code long and short flashes.

This happens with different operating systems cause I tried to reinstall and the problem persists.

Answer:Portege M750 doesn't restart after sleep or hibernate

> Another thing is that when you press the switch on button the AC power led, which is green normally, it starts blinking yellow with some sort of a code long and short flash

I know that if there is a memory malfunction the *Power indicator* will repeatedly flash on and off (0.5sec) If there is an error in slot A the indicator would flash orange twice then green.
If there is an error in slot B, the LED will flash orange once and green twice.
If error is in both slots, the LED flashes orange and green twice.

By the way: is your BIOS up to date?

Hi,

I'm using Vista as carpc operating system. My problem is that Vista doesn't sleep/hibernate when music is playing. I have set pc to hibernate after one minute when powerchord is not plugged. That is what it is suppose to do. Now my Vista thinks that "I'm playing music, so I don't go to hibernate-mode". Few guys have said that it should hibernate even if playing music, few guys says that computer shouldn't hibernate cause it's in use.
Is there way to make computer hibernate when music/videos is on?

Answer:Vista doesn't sleep or hibernate when music is playing?

I have never seen a computer go into either mode with active processes. Also, is the device USB? If USB, did you safely remove it before unplugging it? Try it, Vista will think its still attached but not working right.

My laptop (Windows Vista 32 bit) is unable to wake up from sleep or hibernate.
Laptop is set to the Balanced Power Scheme.

However, once the display has turned off (after 10 minutes), I am unable to wake it up.
Unable to open Task Manager, Shut Down, nothing works, all I see is a black screen, the disk access light blinking and the fan running.

I end up holding the power button to switch off.
This is a recent development, it might have started when I installed Office 2010 on the laptop.

Any suggestions?

Was this issue present after clean system installation?

How about the BIOS? Is it up to date?
I read in some threads that BIOS update could helps to sort out such similar problems.
So BIOS update is definitely worth a try.

Also the display driver update would be recommended. Of course just in case you are not using the latest version.

Ever since I did something with my drivers, things have been going haywire. Here's a list of a few things that I have had issues with: sometimes when i'm using a speech application like skype or discord, sounds on my desktop are picked up through my mic even though i'm using a headset, my computer's automatic maintenance starts up at the most random times and it never seems to end, and whenever I shutdown, hibernate, or put my computer to sleep, my screen powers off, but my fan, power button light, and mouse lighting are still on; the fan is running as well but it's at a slower and quieter speed. All my drivers are updated, and so is my BIOS. My guess is that the BIOS update may have caused things to go haywire in my computer. Can anyone please help me solve this issue? I have to resort to pressing the power button to make my computer turn off or go to sleep.

Hello! I have a brand new Edge E530 with intel 520 ssd drive and i7-3612qm cpu. Latest driver versions are installed. The problem is that it does not shutdown completely - screen goes off, but fan and leds stay on. Same thing happens during sleep, hibernate, restart. However, in safe mode it does shutdown and restart correctly. So it does without any drivers (tried re-installing the Windows 7 and Windows 8 several times).Sometimes (like 1 out of 20 tries) it does shutdown correctly. I wasn't able to find out which driver (or combination) cause the problem. Any advice will be appreciated. I don't really want to go RMA way since probably all is needed is some patch/hotfix.

Hi,

If you go to toshiba power saver you should be able to turn your up or down. Once you open this program from control panel, you have the option to change how much your processor runs as well as how much your cooling modules work. Turning either one down will make the fan not come on as much. Then you might want to try and use a vacuum cleaner to suck the air intake grills to clean any dust that could be clogging it up. Dust can make the fan run more because the lack of cool, fresh air entering the system to cool the cpu. Hope this helps.

Answer:Sleep and Hibernate only work for a few seconds.

Did you by any chance remove your hibernation files through disk clean up?
The only other thing I can think of would have to be changing the hibernation/sleep settings

Hi patchie,

This is due to a feature called "Wake on Magic Packet" which basically turns the machine on when it detects a signal coming from internet router.

Please follow the steps below to disable this feature.

Go into Control Panel
Click "Network & Internet" then "Network & Sharing Centre"
On the left hand side, click "Change adaptor settings"
Right click your network adaptor and select "Properties"
Click "Configure" and select the "Advanced" tab
Scroll down the list and find "Wake on Magic Packet"
Click "Wake on Magic Packed" than change the value to "Disabled" using the drop down box

My wife has a new HP laptop with Win10 on it. It's zippy fast, but have noted a few problems with it. I'm not sure if it could be malware, bloatware from HP, or what.

The first thing she noticed was that her screen saver never kicks in. I checked the power settings and the screen is supposed to turn off after 5 minutes on battery, 10 minutes on AC. But the screen is always lit.

Then she noticed that she'l manually put it to sleep but then in the morning, with the lid open or closed, the thing will be awake and the fan cranking at full power. The power settings have it going to sleep on battery after 10 minutes and on AC after 1 hour. I just found an advanced power option that allows important wake timers. I have just shut that off, even though there are no timers set and after anything on a timer would theoretically run, i should go back to sleep after 1 hour.

The other day I also found the suggestion to got to Network Adapter>Properties>Advanced and set:

Click on "Wake on magic packet" - Set value to Disabled.
Click on "Wake on pattern match" - Set value to Disabled.
That didn't help.

So I started to try and fix these and I found at least two more things. I tried to download Secunia in the "How to Protect Yourself and Tighten Security" thread and Sysinfo.exe in the "Everyone MUST Read This BEFORE Posting for Help in This Forum" thread. Chrome blocks both of them. It even blocks the Microsoft tool sugges... Read more

I've had this thinkpad yoga 460 for almost two years and everything's worked really well so far. Recently, I've had trouble with the sleep and hibernate functions. When I close the lid the screen turns off but the computer stays on. The red LED on the top stays solid red and reopening the laptop brings me right back to the desktop without loading anything or prompting me for a password. If I go to the power settings and change something, it works for once cycle. Example: It's not working. I change the power settings from hibernate to sleep when I close the lid on batter power. I close the lid and it goes to sleep. I open the lid and am promped to log in again. If I close the lid again after that, the screen shuts off but, the computer remains on. Unchecking "Turn on fast startup (recommended)" has no effect. I don't know what else to check. It's really not a huge deal but it's kind of annoying. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

I have a Lenovo Thinkpad T400 with Windows Vista (sevice pack 2) and my computer has a number of booting problems. When I shut down the computer either manually with the button or with the shut down option in the start menu, the computer boots down, stays off for 5 seconds then retsarts itself. I've played with the power settings many times and looked up many forums advice for these settings. I also have a clean bill of health regarding viruses/spyware for the bleepingcomputer forum for sypware as of this week. Any help would be apperciated.

My system was never able to resume from sleep. Tried several things, BIOS settings, settings for power management etc.
Thought it could be related to recovery software or other installed drivers etc.

But now: I replaced my harddisk with a SSD, did a fresh install of W7 Ultimate 64. Removed all possible hardware (tv card, usb devices except keyboard / mouse). Tried fail save options in BIOS and optimized settings as well but no luck.
Got most windows updates in place, installed all the latest drivers from the motherboard and graphics card, latest bios drivers and still getting BSOD.

Who can help me solving this so I can save lots of energy.
Followed the manual to attach zip file with minidumps etc. Please let me know when additional info is required.

Details about what happens:
When I put my system into sleep it goes well. When I try to wake my system:
often nothing happens and I have to shut it down holding start button
or I get back my desktop but within a few seconds I get a BSOD.

If I have seen it well I posted several minidumps, so I hope it is not too difficult to find the ones related to the resume from sleep.
Kind regards,

Michel

Answer:G500s Wireless Capability Off after sleep or hibernate

This may indicate a hardware problem has developed and requires a part to be replaced. I would suggest contacting Lenovo support by phone to discuss service options.Good luck.CB

Hibernate will not work, when I tell the system to hibernate it just puts it too sleep, ie fans and power lights stay on. My last system with an Abit mobo and core2duo had the same problem. I'm using windows7 rc7100. Is there some trick to making hibernate work properly on windows7? I've heard it could be a chipset driver issue possibly but which one? I know it can work because my wifes laptop hibernates just fine.
Thanks for any help!

my system specs are,
windows7 7100
I7 860
MSI p55 gd65 mobo- bios# 1.3
4 gigs ram
two gtx 260 vcards
xfi titanium
intel 80 gig ssd

Answer:Hibernate doesn't work in windows 7?

Windows does NOT support hibernation on systems with 4gigs of ram or above.

I have an HP Compag dx2200MT, running XP Pro,SP2, comodo firewall, avast. When I use hibernate the system shuts down as it is supposed to, but then starts up again virtually immediately. only after several hours will it shut down properly. Any suggestions of what I could do to fix this problem, I don't really want to have to return my pc and be without it for weeks. Many thanks.

Answer:hibernate doesn't work properly

Are you permanently connected to the internet? If so, the PC will never hibernate because there will always be activity via your internet connection which prevents hibernation. Try disconnecting and see what happens. If this is not the case, I'll watch this thread with interest because I have a similar problem with my Dell laptop.

This problem drove me nuts and I tried every possible BIOS setting also went from Windows 10 own Broadcom drivers to older which didn't change anything. Then I found out it is related to hibernate, not using hibernate, but just having it activated. I always had it deactivated under Windows 8.1 and remembered about it just now deactivating it... (powercfg /hibernate off) and now WOL works perfectly fine again, in all states, S3-S5 (STR, hibernate, power off). If activated, WOL just works in S3, not S4 or S5. If deactivated, it works fine in S3 and most important, also S5.

I guess this is some bug related to Windows 10 or the Broadcom drivers of Windows 10?

Answer:WOL doesn't work if hibernate is activated

Not many people actually use WOL.
I always advise to LOCK the computer, switch off the Monitor, but leave it on.
The difference in power usage between Stand-by and "awake" are not that much, but with Stand-by everything needs to start before you can actually do something

Your PC should perform tasks like backups during the night

So Windows forced me to update to Windows 8.1, which I didn't want but still. They don't care, they forced the update. Which means my laptop reboots way slower, but I'll deal with that. Perhaps W8.1 is better at several area's.
Anyways, I got a problem with sleep and hibernate mode. I can enter them, but when I try to exit it Windows doesn't continues but it reboots, losing everything ongoing. Already googled some thing, tried but with no results. Ran troubleshooter and tried updating the drivers (no updates found except one, didn't solved the problem).

Anyone who could help with googling?
It's an Acer Aspire E1-572G.
Thanks in advance!

Seems like common problem with this model, check power plan settings, try turning off fast boot. One article mentions issue with Video card drivers, a possible bug.Try going to manufacturer's site of brand Card instead As for forcing you to update there are ways around that, but highly not suggested to not update to 8.1.

As subject title, did a recent Lenovo "System Update" on BIOS and other drivers, and since then sleep and hibernate no longer works, when i close the lid, it turns on by itself after 2 seconds. When i select Sleep or Hibernate in Windows 8.1 with lid open, it just behaves like a Restart command. Need this fixed! So I've got an Ultrabase 3 running with a 45N7459 optical drive from eBay. It seems to be working well, but now I find that DVDs only play in WMP. VLC Media Player refuses to even load up the disk, it just sits there for a second then the text goes gray. At one point, I got it to start playing, but there were huge blurry patches all across the screen, as if there was some GPU error...but VLC doesn't use the GPU at all, right? VLC was always able to play DVDs using USB drives. Am I missing something here?

Answer:X220 ultrabase DVD doesn't work with VLC Media Player

It would be happening as VLC player does not have the compatible codecs to play the video file.

Kindly uninstall the existing VLC player and install the latest version of VLC then update so it have the all available codecs installed.

You may refer the official website for VLC to know more about the feature and supported video formats.

Hi there, the left and right click on the touchpad of my (second hand) x220 doesn't work. Although it recognized all multitouch gestures and and controlling the mouse is just fine.  The trackpoint and the left and right buttons of the trackpoint work fine, too. It just doesn't react when I click on the left and right buttons of the touchpad.   I ordered another touchpad (from the same reseller) and replaced the old one. Yet the "new" one doesn't work either.  How likely do you think that both palmrest of the same reseller have the same problem? Do you think there's another reason (besides the palmrest) that could be responsible for my problem? Thanks in advance for your answersRegards

Answer:X220: Left and right click on Touchpad doesn't work

Hi, letter

I would first try updating the driver, as this could be part of the issue. I would also recommend updating to the latest version of the base Synaptics driver, which can be found here. Synaptics is the company that makes the UltraNav software normally seen on Lenovo's machines, so there shouldn't be any loss of functionality or anything. If you can, install that and see if any change is made.

Hope it helps,
Adam

I'm using Tecra M2 with Windows XP and Office 2003. If I try to bring my laptop in "stand by" or "hibernate" mode nothing happens... the computer remains still on. Only "logoff" and "shut down" works correct. Also Fn+F3 and Fn+F4 doesn't work.

The latest hint i got was to install the latest version of the "Hotkey for Display Devices". Unfortunately the program doesn't work and asks for a CD-drive and aborts without any installation. So i can't figure out whether this solves the problem or not.. the hint came from Miro. Any ideas?

(Original hint Miro: As far as I know the installation of different software should not have any effect for this but everything is possible. In my opinion you should try to reinstall some Toshiba tools. I am not sure but I think that Toshiba Hotkey for Display Devices V2.5.0.0 is responsible for this.)

Answer:Tecra M2 - Stand by, Hibernate doesn't work

Hi again

Sorry but I have forget to mention that very important is that Toshiba Common modules V6.01.02 is installed on your unit. Without this common application there is no chance that all another tools will work properly.

If you want to use Hibernation mode please check Microsoft Power options properties. There you can choose different power schemes. There you can define which power scheme you want to use (Windows XP or Toshiba Power saver). The last tab is ?hibernate?. Please check if hibernation is enabled.

If you click Start > Shut down is there Stand by button grayed out or you can click on it? The grayed out Standby button means that you must reinstall graphic driver.

Good luck!

After that Hibernate tab in Power Option Properties disappears till next reboot. The issue take place only with 2Gb of DDR2, with previous 1Gb, or even 1,5Gb it works well. P.S.  Hi everyone, I currently own a T430S, and just recently the FN button on my laptop started to malfunction. It would work sometimes work but most of the times it doesn't register at all(refer to the video). Also I encountered another problem which is my laptop will wake up right away after put into sleep mode. This happens either when I put it into sleep mode or when I close my laptop(please also refer to the video). I have tried to reset my BIOS, tried unplugging my keyboard, but still no luck. Is there a way to fix this issue? This issue really has been bugging me for the past few days. I would appreciate any kind of support! Thank you!

I've been using the hibernation feature on my Dell Inspiron 9300 laptop for a number of years now and it's worked flawlessly until relatively recently.

Lately upon resuming from hibernation, the machine will just kind of hang for a minute or two once the hibernation progress bar hits 100%. There's no activity from the machine at all during this time and then all the sudden windows just resumes as if nothing out of the ordinary happened.

I have not made any hardware or hardware driver changes in years so it shouldn't be a hardware or driver issue. I do have Norton Internet Security 2009 installed if that makes a difference.

Other than this the machine has been running fine with one exception. The other day the fans on the laptop went into high speed when the machine got hot and then never shut off. At the same time the CPU got stuck in low step state (800 Mhz and opposed to 1.86 GHz). A reboot fixed this and I haven't seen that again. When I ran the Dell diagnostic program all the tests on the processor and the fans passed so it looks like that was a one time glitch.

Any ideas why resuming gets stuck for so long?

Answer:XP - Resuming from Hibernation frequently hangs for a minute

Hello,

I sometimes encounter this malfunction: when starting up from hibernate (not sure about the english term, though. the "light sleep" mode in WinXP..) the screen doesn't light up again. The OS seems to be up and running again, but i wouldn't really know since I can't see..
Sometimes it works just fine, but I would like it to work all of the time.

Any ideas?

Answer:Satellite Pro M70-275: Screen doesn't work after waking from hibernate.

Hello,

This could be an issue fixed with an update of the BIOS. Download the Bios (Windows based, easier to use) and install it, making sure the computer is connected to AC-power and the battery is charged, to prevent any damage from power failure. After it is installed verify the computer works normally. If it does not work, post here again and see what we can deduce. Have a nice day.

Last week I changed ONE little thing on our wifi router. I changed the WPA2 Personal encryption from "TKIP+AES" to "AES" only. I then changed the encryption for my Asus UL80Vt notebook to AES.

Since then Hibernate does not work properly. After it resumes the wireless adapter is disabled. I have to run Windows Network Diagnostics, sometimes it says wireless capability is turned off, sometimes "WLAN Auto Config was disabled" etc. Running the troubleshooter enables the wifi, every time.

Sometimes the resume would take 10-12 minutes. It has stopped doing that now, it resumes in the normal 30-40 seconds, but the wifi is still dead when it completes.

I have tried- running checkdisk, SFC, disabling then re-enabling Hibernate, defragging the hard drive. I removed the wifi adapter from Device Manager, then reinstalled it. I updated the drivers (it is an Atheros AR9285, current driver version 8.0.0.316). I removed the Asus power option interface, and the problems still occurred running plain-Jane Windows power options.

Ironically the problem only occurs when I use the sleep button to hibernate (I had set it up as: Close Lid- do nothing, Sleep Button- Hibernate, Power Button- Shut Down). I tried setting Close Lid to Hibernate and the system hibernates and resumes PERFECTLY. Problem is that is not a solution, I want to close the lid and have the computer keep running. It prevents my cats from sending emails.

I have a factory reset T42p (2.1Ghz, 2GigRAM) which I have updated to latest Windows XP sp3, removed Norton/Symantec and installed Trend Micro Internet Security 2008. When I start the Thinkpad it loads somewhat quick. I then let it load all startup programs. I use SysInternals Process Explorer to view processes and monitor CPU. I then press CTRL, ALT + DELETE and choose to lock computer. I let it be locked for 5 seconds and then swipe the finger to let the ThinkVantage Fingerprint Softwareattempt to log me in. It confirmes my access and tries to log me in. It then takes from 30-60 seconds untill I see the desktop icons. Meanwhile I can view the desktop wallpaper and move my mouse. Pressing CTRL, ALT + DELETE does not do anything. I can reproduce this everytime I try to resume from "locked computer". I've tried to remove and kill as many processes as I dare and I've runned two different Rootkit scanners (including SysInternals RootKitRevealer). Anyone got a clue how I can find what is troubling my system? I can't remember it being like this before I reset to factory settings. Please help! :-/

Hello,I was an idiot and accidentally clicked on an email link of an email I was trying to delete (knew it was a "bad" email). It then tried to open my Adobe Acrobat and I shut off the wireless connection after about 10 seconds, but it was too late, and I can no longer access Windows Update page (it just tells me IE cannot display this webpage). I also noticed that I can no longer hibernate my computer anymore. Windows Defender told me that something was trying to install and I denied permission to it. I ran Malwarebytes 1.45 with the latest updates and it found a few things which it deleted, but still can't access Windows Update. I also tried the http://safety.live.com (onecare) from microsoft and did the full system scan with that and it found 9 issues, but only fixed 2. It didn't actually tell me what those other issues were, so I couldn't manually do anything about them. Every once in a while, my expired (in Dec2009) Norton Anti-Virus will tell me I have a trojan and denies access to file "overlay.xul". I have also tried several other scanners to little or no effect (trendmicro's online scanner and hitmanpro3.5).I have hijack this installed, but have not ran it as of yet as I wouldn't be able to make heads or tails of the report anyway. I'm hoping someone here would be able to help me.Thanks in advance.

Answer:Resuming from hibernate

I would suggest not using hibernate. That seems to be the source of the problem. It could be a couple of things.
1. RAM problems. Try running MemTest86 and see what that tells you.
2. Bad restore point. After you get the machine up and running again force it to make a fresh restore point. If this hibernation problem still occurs then it is hibernate.

I would say if it is hibernate then your best option is just to use system standby. It doesnt hurt anything. I do it. I have been for over a year now with my machine.
Check your settings in the desktop properties to have your monitor shut off after 30 minutes or so. From there have you HDD and such shut down after 2 hours or so.
If you use this option make sure to turn off your hibernate. That will free up some HDD space as hibernate allocates the amount of RAM you have on your HDD so it can hibernate.

here's my problem, as near as I can tell,

a few months ago the wireless connection on my hp laptop stopped "seeing" my wireless network. Eventually, during a scan with my panda security system a virus was found (for some reason it is no longer in the logs-but is was, I think, trojan or sasser in my outlook folders-and it was deleted). The wireless seemed to work again but then went back to being "invisible" to my wireless detector on the laptop. I went to HP downloads to see if I could just update the "driver" and ended up updating "system bios" which seemed to work also, for a while, then the system goes back to not seeing the wireless. I could sometimes do the right-click "repair" option to get it to connect but that stops working after a while. I think that there is still some residual virus lurking in the system to cause this problem so that is why I am posting here. Thanks for any help you can give

I just got a Thinkpad X220 and the "Thinkpad mini dock plus series 3". When the x220 is placed into the station only the monitor display works and it charges the x220. However, the "Startup button" in the dock in the dock never lights up and doesn't work; None of the USB ports work; And the speaker "port" doesn't pass sound. If I connect all the external USB, sound, etc. directly to the laptop ports (not the dock ports) they all work. I can't find anything that would help me troubleshoot this. It's probably obvious. Any ideas?

Coming out of hibernate the fingerprint reader does not recognize my fingerprint at the BIOS level to unlock the hard drive and system password or at the Windows level to log into my Win 7 Pro account. Works fine on a cold boot or restart. Suggestions ???

Is your BIOS up to date? Try updating it, and see if that helps.

Hi,

I have a Toshiba A100 Satellite PSAARA-055007 with Win XP Home SP3 and current updates.

For the life of me, I cannot get this machine to successfully wake up from standby or hibernate!

It goes into hibernate and standby just fine, but when you try to power it back up or take it out of hibernate or standby it seems to start waking up and then it just hangs without the display ever powering up. The only option is to hard boot the system.

So at present Standby or Hibernate do not work at all.

Anyone? Please help!

Answer:Satellite A100 Hibernate / Standby wake up problems (doesn't work!)

Have you noticed the same behaviour in the past?
Maybe some Microsoft upgrade is responsible for it.

Resuming from hibernate takes time - too much time

But here's the weird thing:

I'll hibernate. Computer shuts down.

1. I come back 5 minutes later and turn on. It takes a few minutes to resume. Not that bad and not tooo frustrating

2. I come back several hours later - maybe hibernate at night and resume in the morning for example.
When I do this, it takes ages, absolutely ages. I might as well go have breakfast, have a coffee and a bath, take the dog for a walk and come back - and the damn thing is STILL tinkering away recovering!
It gets there in the end!!
But why take all that time!!?

Any rational explanation would be great

I don't have Win 7 yet. The ads on TV used to show that the resume time is real quick? Has the problem been solved? How much better is it?

Thanks
OM

I am struggling with a problem on a Asus Pundit Computer running Windows XP MCE.

It goes into hibernate just fine but when powering it back on, the screen where it says "resuming windows" just freezes. The progress bar at the bottom gets all the way across but then it stops.

Any ideas? All the other hibernation problems I've seen were the ones that gave a error message stating there were "insufficient resources" etc. This problem has no such error message.

I don't see anything in the event log either. I don't know if the event log service hasn't even started yet and that's why?

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Answer:Hibernate: Just Stops When Resuming

Hibernate/sleep sucks ass in windows xp anything. My advice...disable hibernate. Set it instead to save power by spinning down the hard disks, turning off the monitors, etc, etc. Using hibernate is a great way to force a reset.

This also happened with Windows 8.x but it persisted after I upgraded to Windows 10.

It's an older machine with limited support, but I'd like to try and use it if I can. It's a tank of a laptop.

Hi Avid,

Welcome to the 10forums.

Please remove KMSpico and the software that has been activated with KMSpico to start with.

The crashes are caused by a driver that is likely being used for reading micro ssd cards.
Please check your manufacturer for driver updates.

Hi, I've got a Toshiba Satellite Pro A120 (1.5 yrs old; Intel core 2 CPU 2.33GHz; 2GB RAM) with Vista Business (SP1 32bit) and often when I put it to sleep, it will hang or crash on resume forcing me to to do a hard shut down. Sometimes the screen will just be totally black and hang, and sometimes it will get to vista's "resuming" splash screen or even the login screen and then hang/crash. Often the disk activity LED will remain on indefinitely (due to the hang) even though I can't hear any disk activity. As far as I'm aware all my drivers are up to date. I'm just so fed up with loosing documents and personal settings now I've got to do something about it, and from googling, it seems this is a pretty widespread problem but I've not come across a solution that's worked for me - I've even installed the extra KB patch that was meant to fix it.

Also, sometimes when I put it to sleep (fully charged) and not use it for a a few hours, I find that the laptop has lost power during sleep because the battery has been run flat and the ventilation grille feels warm, even though I know that the battery can normally last much much longer on sleep. Is it possible that the computer resumed itself from sleep to hibernate after 200 mins on battery (as my power settings dictate) and then crashed whilst resuming, causing it to drain itself flat (since it my laptop should have entered automatic hibernation on the critical battery warning unless it was unable to respond)? Is this a pow... Read more

I regularly put my laptop into hibernation rather than shutting down.

Until recently all worked OK.

However, suddenly, when resuming windows the BSOD appears. After switching off then on again, I have to delete the resume data and boot from scratch.

I have done all of the usual things like removing recently installed software and cleaning the registry. But I can’t cure the problem

Any Ideas?

Virtally identical and Related to nusb3xhc.sys USB 3.0 Host Controller Driver from NEC Electronics Corporation. I would re-install it but since yours is fairly current I am looking suspiciously at your Avast. I would replace it with microsoft security essentials if the driver re-install doesnt fix it.
