I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

@jeffmik,There was a post on tweeter from you saying that the BT package from Windows Update wiped your C:\ too? Is it the one from MS or from Lenovo which wiped the C:\? Also there is a new driver from engineering which have fix this issue. We are currently pending the team to update the website. You can download the BT driver directly from the link below.http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles/7zwb05ww.txthttp://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles/7zwb05ww.exe//JameZ

System: T430u I was having a problem detecting a new bluetooth speaker so, Using Lenovo Solution Center, I chose to update my bluetooth driver.  Beforef the update, I had run some bluetooth software by double-clicking on the bluetooth icon in my system tray and didn't shut it down, so it was running during the update.  I assumed that's why the update failed (couldn't shut down some service whose name I don't remember).  After the installation failure there was an option to manually install the driver by clicking on some link (still within Lenovo Solution Center).  So I clicked and it seemed to install. After reboot, there's no bluetooth icon in the system tray and when I check the driver, version it's an old version.  The Installation history in LSC says:    "Broadcom Bluetooth Device Software BCM20702 -8[32,64]/8.1 [64]  version 12.0.0.5400 Did not install"But now doesn't give me the option of installing it and I can't find it at the Lenovo support pages for my laptop. Can someone give me some advice on what to try next?

Answer:Bluetooth driver update failed

Restore point in Windows.  Note for future:  Lenovo Update does NOT create restore points.  You'll need one of your own to roll back in case you don't like what LU does for you.

I tried to update my older Radeon ATI 5450 GPU via windows update...

I received the message from windows update, and showed it failed update with the 0x800706be

However when I go to device manager and check the details of the installed driver it clearly shows the new updated version? So I wonder which is correct the device manager showing the new version of the driver or windows update?

Answer:Failed Update 0x800706be driver...but device mgr shows updated driver?

You can identify the problem using Device Manager, which you can access by:
Opening the Control Panel Window
Selecting and double-clicking System
Clicking Device Manager
In Device Manager check if there is an exclamation point, a yellow triangle, or a question mark against your Dell device. If there is, there is a problem with your Dell device.

Hi there,

I have just applied some Windows Updates today (25/01/2011), and have found that my USB Bluetooth dongle has stopped working. It was working fine before the updates, but now all I have is the device in the Device Manager list, showing Bluetooth Radios, then CSR Bluetooth 3.0 with a question mark next to it.

The updates I applied are:

- Cambridge Silicon Radio Limited - Audio, Other hardware - CSR BlueCore Nanosira

and then immediately after came this one:

- Cambridge Silicon Radio Limited - Audio, Other hardware - CSR Bluetooth 3.0

Now I am unable to roll back the drivers, and after a trawl of the Internet I can't find a replacement. Please can anyone let me know if they have experienced the same issue, and if they have been able to find a resolution?

Thanks,

CB.

Answer:CSR Bluetooth Driver Windows Update

Have you tried updating driver from within the device manager? It would help greatly if we had the complete make and model of said piece of hareware.

Hi,
I have a Dell XPS 15 9560.  Until recently I have been using a Logitech MX Anywhere 2 mouse which is paired to the laptop's bluetooth (BT).  A few days ago, however, I noticed the mouse did not work.
On further investigation I found that the laptop's BT was not on and the button to activate it had disappeared from the windows 10 action centre panel thing.  I have checked the device manager and the BT section has disappeared; on viewing hidden items there is no BT hardware entry.
I recently updated some drivers following an notification from the Dell Update service. It seems very likely that the updates and loss of BT are related.  The updates were primary Intel chipset related stuff (I cannot find an update history in the Dell Update software so I'm not 100% sure).
I tried to use system restore yesterday from several previous points created over the last few driver and windows updates, but all the restores failed.  I tried also to do the restore by booting windows into troubleshooting mode; same result.  Checking again today, and now all the system restore points have disappeared so that option is gone even if it had worked.
I tried to do a check using the Dell diagnostic software but it says there is no BT hardware to check.
I got the latest BT drivers directly from Qualcomm (10.0.0.309) but their installation made no difference.  I also reinstalled the drivers using Dell Support (Killer Wireless AC Driver 10.0.0279) - no jo... Read more

Hi There I bought recently a Ideacentre B520 on win 7 , 1 week ago i upgraded to win8 pro , everything is working perfectly with the exception of not being able to upgrade my win8 , it dont work at al, windows upadate downloads the updates but it dont instal i found  the reason is a conflict on the bluetooth driver, lenovo dont have the driver for win 8 and therefore i got an error on the device manger saying "unknow device" .There is any way to disable thew bluetooth until lenovo releases a driver?I think that way i can upadate my windows.thanks in advance .

Answer:No Bluetooth driver for Win8pro because of that i can update windows 8

I have a B320 and when updating to 8 got a message that bluetooth was not compatible but when it finished the bluetooth mouse/keyboard work so I'd guess MS put in something generic. I was going to suggest device manager but I looked on mine and don't find anything listed for blue tooth. You might look in control panel/system/device manager and see if there is something labeled bluetooth - uninstall it and allow the system to look online for new driver. It should stick with the set up you have it it doesn't find a new one.Lenovo needs to get ahead of this business instead of being behind though not all companies are doing the ahead game.Bought a usb/hdmi adapter and it won't work with 8 either form iogear???I've also read that there is some sort of bluetooth interface though I have not seen it or found it on my system.

Nvidia graphic card driver updated and now can't see screen. How do I revert back to prior vesion; safe mode or restore point but screen  is blank.

Answer:Windows 8 update for video driver failed

Where did you get that driver from?

Safe mode shouldn't be affected by nVidia driver.
It doesn't load in safe mode. Windows loads its own generic driver instead.

Is there any way I can go back and redownload and try to reinstall this again. Right now when I click on the Update button it says there are no more drivers even though this one failed to install.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:Trouble with failed driver on Windows Update

Hi GhostRaider, welcome to the forums.

You might want to try going Here and try running Intel's 'Driver Update Utility' and see if that gets a better result than Windows Update.

   Note
I had the same issue when first install Windows 7 with my Intel 945 Express Chipset, the update would fail every single time

Unfortunately, Intel have not yet released a Windows 7 (32/64) driver for the 910GML or 915GM so Vista drivers in compatability mode may be your best bet of the 'Utility' does not work.

Hope this helps

Hey,

I have a Razer Blade 2013 with a Killer Wifi/BT card (BT chipset is Qualcomm Atheros AR3012), running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.

Last week I updated the drivers for the Bluetooth card... now, it just gets stuck at this screen when I try to pair my mouse, headphones, phone etc:

I can pair the devices quite easily with each other, and with my desktop. I guess the driver update broke something on the laptop?!

Things I have tried:Completely deleted and reinstalled Killer drivers
Rolled back to previous drivers
Uninstalled adapter and let default MS drivers install
Removed all paired devices from the Devices/Printers list
Set Bluetooth Support service to automatic etc.

I'm at a loss, and pretty annoyed as I rely on Bluetooth a lot (I guess "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" applies here!).

Any help appreciated.

Cheers,

Su

Answer:Windows won't find any Bluetooth devices after driver update :(

The simplest thing i can think of at this point to try is if you have the resource disk for your system board if this is a custom built system; reinstall the drivers for the bluetooth hardware that came with your system. Doing that may solve the issue. It is possible the update that was put out for whatever reason was not meant for your system which could be why it is not working after updating even if it shows it should be. Ive discovered that some updates arent meant for certain systems even if they show that they are because either they wont install; or they will install but will cause a issue after being installed. So i would try reinstalling the original bluetooth drivers and see what happens.

I hope you can help me fix my dad's computer!! This site has helped me fix my laptop. I really appreciate you guys!!

On my dad's computer : I tried to update BIOS graphics driver per instructions for new larger monitor (which has not even been hooked up yet).

I went to the Dell website and entered the service code HPLW3G1 to find the graphics driver to update. I recall nvidia but now looking at the list that they have on that website, I am not sure what I downloaded. I saved it to desktop and then clicked to install it. I then got a small popup that said I must close all other applications. When I clicked ok on that little window - (so I could close the other applications that were open), it started installing anyway! I exited the install window (wrong thing to do? It said do not turn off power in red letters), closed applications. Then I restarted, because it didn't want to open google chrome.
NOW when I turn it on, the blue light on the on button lights up, sounds like the fan is running, but the monitor does not even respond, it goes into powersave mode. I tried another monitor, no change. The computer won't turn off, unless I hold the off button down for awhile. The wierd thing is that when the computer is unplugged, it comes back on when plugged in again. But there is never any flashing lights below the on button that indicates that the hard drive is working. I think this may be bad? I tried hitting F8 after turning it on, and nothing happens. Hi good people,

So, I'm on here like thousands of others with intermittent wifi issues. I upgraded from 8.1 to 10 yesterday and everything works very well except for losing my wifi connection every 30 minutes to an hour.

My wireless adapter is a Broadcom 802.11n
the driver I'm using is Broadcom version 6.30.223.256

I've updated the drivers and the same loss of wifi happens. I've rolled back the drivers and the same loss of wifi happens. I've even tried a driver directly from the lenovo site that is a Cybertan Liteon driver that is the latest version for windows 8.1.

I've also unchecked the box in the power management page. Then rebooted.

I've also used all the commands, in the command prompt admin that start with 'netsh'. Then rebooted. The same thing still happens.

So, I'm up for new suggestions including compatible drivers from different manufacturers.

I'm really hoping there's a Z585 user on here that has solved this issue. According to the Lenovo web site this particular laptop has the latest drivers on the site and none of them are working so far.

Answer:Lenovo Z585 losing wifi after driver update, driver rollbacks, 'fixes'

First, is your laptop supported for windows 10 on lenovo website.....meaning are there drivers and software packages for it? Have you tried downloading the 8.1 driver for it and then running it in compatibility mode?

Seeing as how it's HD sound, I think you'll need to load the Microsoft UAA driver first to get it running under XP.

This update failed to install (several times), even when done alone. First time since building system where it has failed an update. Only thing I have added since original build is a EVGA GTX 650 video card (last week). Anyone else experience this problem or know what the error code below indicates?

Windows XP PRO SP3 (WinNT 5.01.2600)
Hi
I need help and fast, within next two hours if it's possible. I'm doing something for printing and editing a film for friend, for his Academy.
I have a deadline. And I'm near brain meltdown, i've lost whole day trying to fix this.

I've installed SpeedUp MyPC and Driver scanner and did a driver backup then update. Before that i made Restore Point, and Tune Up Utillities did one automatically. There were 4 updates, for Graphics, Usb, Sound and I think Motherboard ( ATI, Nvdia).
I have backups of those still, so I can post the list.
During installation there was one error but it seemed ralated to some Thumbs.db file so I didn't really look into it (some error , zero something, sorry don't remember).
At second installation there was the prompt to restart to finish the installation after restart, that i didn't do. But the Driver scanner window said that the installation was finished,. I finished all 4 and restarted. Never got to Loggon screen, just went black, and nothing.
I've tried all kinds of Safe mode but it comes to Loggon and mouse and keyboard don't work.
Nothing does.
Reformat is not really an option.

Please help!!!!!!!!
Thanks.

First issue is that I need to use a specific older driver for my AMD graphics card and windows 10 continues to update the driver automatically and causes my system to crash. I've gone through {Control Panel-Devices & printers}, selected my machine, then right clicked to Device Installation Settings and selected "no, let me choose what to do". This has no effect as windows continues to update the driver daily or anytime I search for updates. Is there a specific port I can block or cmd line to run?

Second issue, on the windows update window, the feature is frozen on Service Pack 1 for MS Office 2013 (KB2850036) 64-bit edition @ 61%. It's been like this for a week. I've restarted the machine several times and seems to do nothing. Any suggestions would be very helpful.

Thanks.

I have been doing a periodic update of the system drivers on the laptop.  Last time I can recall doing this was nearly 2 years ago.  And this time I encountered problems. This topic is a follow-up to my query on this thread, regarding safe mode start/restoring after a failed driver update:http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Boot-and-Lockup/booting-safe-mode-on-hp-g6-2002au/m-p/5690028/... And as i reported there I begam doing a one by one update to locate what caused the original problem with the bulk update.  After 7 one-by-one driver updates, I found the (or, at least) one causing the problem.  In the following image, the 2 PCI-to-USB host drivers caused a windows failure message after the update.  There are 6 USB-related drivers in this extremely old/aged list and clearly they relate to the number of installed hardware items on the laptop.  See this screen shot of the Device Manager list:  Of the 6 USB drivers to be updated, I picked these 2 items to update first because 1) they looked to be the oldest (the replacements were dated in 2010), and 2) as I understand the technology, these bits connect the processor bus to the actual host and hub chips. I chose only these 2 PCI- drivers for update (unticked the selection boxes for all the others in the booster list), and proceeded.  When the install was completed a windows message box reported a windows failure for one of the devices (which one, not stated or ev... I bought bluetooth speakers for my laptop, and when they didn't pair I decided to update my bluetooth driver. I uninstalled the Lenovo bluetooth driver, and when it restarted I couldn't boot windows. Windows repair with the installation disk didn't work. I booted linux from a live CD and mounted my harddrive, where there is currently nothing left. I saw this happened on other Lenovo computers. Why did this happen? Is there anything I can do? I am extremely frustrated, as I do weekly backups and had a full week of work data that has been wiped.

Answer:Uninstalling bluetooth driver wiped my harddrive

Which file did you download?  Can you provide a link?

I'm not sure what laptop you have, or which bluetooth driver you installed?

Sorry that the the install caused a problem !

I've been trying to install the Intel Bluetooth Driver that was recommanded but i didnt realize that i had to remove the old one first.  So I'm just confused on what to remove, when i go into Programs i only see a Intel Wireless Driver and a Intel Graphics Driver. I do see Intel (R) Wireless Bluetooth (R) but its doesnt say driver at the end so im just not sure. Is that what i need to remove to install the Update? I really dont know anything much about computers and i just dont want to mess anything up or delete the wrong thing, but id like my computer to up to date.

There was a problem with the bluetooth driver I updated last night before going to bed. After the driver updated I shutdown and I don't know why but the update for some reason uninstalled my wireless. I didn't realize this at first but when I checked my connections I only had netgear showing and I have 2 wireless adapters, the netgear and the builtin dell wireless in my inspiron 3650. So I checked in the windows 10 device manage and the Dell "Qualcomm QCA9565" network adapter was missing from the list. I of course right clicked and chose scan for hardware changes and there it was now.

So anyone from Dell you might want to drop a line with whoever is testing/QA the drivers and let them know there is a little bug they overlooked and someone the is not as computer savvy as myself would have been screwed and might have since they had no internet connection ended up paying someone at a PC repair place to fix this bug that never should have happened.

I hope somebody has seen this or can figure this out, I've spent two days uninstalling/reinstalling everything intel/hp related, multiple times/versions, deep uninstalls,  I have been trying to install the sp55138 software/driver for bluetooth and it seems to get through most of it until it finally fails near the end with the message "there is a problem with this windows installer package......".  I've also tried other versions of the proset bluetooth software and they all end like this.  I can provide more details.  Thank you

I got my Y50 quite recently, and the bluetooth is not working. I don't know if it was originally, but isn't anymore. Usually (on my Y40) I go to Lenovo settings and enable bluetooth, then the icon shows up in the menu bar, but that is not working. This is not a hardware issue, because I installed Linux onto an external drive, and when I boot from it, the bluetooth is fully functional. The intel ac 3160 is also a dual wifi+bluetooth chipset, if I am correct. The wifi is perfectly fine too.I installed the latest bluetooth drivers for Windows 8.1, but they have no effect. I even installed the intel chipset driver, just to see if anything would happen, but sadly, there was no effect

Answer:Y50 bluetooth not working even after driver update

Go to the Charms Menu (move mouse to the right of the screen)
Click on Settings.
Select Change PC Settings at the bottom.
Go into PC and Devices
Click on Bluetooth and ENABLE that.

Hi- Can anyone tell me how to do it? I´m trying to pair a Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000 with a Lenovo T400 running Windows XP Pro with SP3 on it, and with all the latest Windows Update components installed on it  too, with no luck. The mouse is working, took it to the shop to return it, but worked on a laptop running Windows 7, and the bluetooth on my laptop is also working, since it pairs nicely with my cell phone. Tried pairing a Logitech mouse and that´s when I realized the problem might be the driver. I´ve tried updating the HID driver with the device manager, but doesn´t work, nor can I find it on the Microsoft site to download and re-install it. Please help! Thanks,Enrique

Answer:How can I update the Bluetooth HID Device Driver?

Download the Bluetooth driver from the T400 driver matrix:http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-72858I have the same mouse with my T400 and it works fine. Also, make sure the mouse is discoverable (light flashes alternating red/green on top) first.

So I've been trying to update my graphics card. Before I ever got the notification for the update and tried to install it, I could play minecraft, and star craft, and watch Netflix video. When I did install, and was given the failed due to I/O error box, I couldn't play any games or watch any Netflix. Don't know what to do to fix this. Since, I've gone to my manufacturers website and re-installed my driver, but I think the real problem is seeing how I cant connect it. It always says it failed due to the I/O error, so I cant connect it to the video card or something.
My computer is a Toshiba. other info:
Model: Satellite L875DProcessor: AMD A6-4400M APU with Radeon(TM) HD Graphics 2.70 GHzPlenty of RAM (only 5 month old computer)
In Device Manager under Display Adapters It says Microsoft Basic Display Adapter. I just need to know how to change it. I've gone in through device manager, pressed update driver, chose to do it manually and choose a signed driver. When I choose My AMD Radeon Drive and it attempts to install, it always says it failed due to an I/O error. This has been going on for a week or so, and I thought I could fix it, but nothing works.

If you need anymore info, just ask, I just really need help im going to go nuts!

Answer:Graphics Driver Update Failed, Help!

uninstall the video drivers from device manager

do your windows updates for at least your chipsets and graphics driver

download the drivers here Official Toshiba Support | Toshiba

your full model number is required there are 5 more digits after the L875D >> L875D-XXXXX

Scroll down the huge list of drivers, and find your chipset if possible, but at least your graphics adapter..

Hi,

About last week I update my graphic card driver (nvidia geforce go 7150m/630m) from ver 7.15.11.5665 to 7.15.11.7991 using updating function in Device Management. The update when smoothly and I thought at first that it's successfull since I did not receive any error messag and in Device management list the new ver. as 7.15.11.7991. However, after that I got some conflicts in driver and it somehow affects my cdrom drive as it's now no longer start when turn on the laptop unless restart immediately.

I went to the regedit and see in the installer folder of nvidia, the install regitry listed as "failure" and the version is still listed as the old one (7.15.11.5665). Is there any way to correct this?

BTW, my OS is window vista home premium 32-bit.

Answer:nvidia driver update failed

Welcome
If you have the new driver and are having problems, go back to device manager and roll back to the old driver. What you are experiencing is a common problem. Many here feel it is best not to upadate unless you are having problems.

Edit: Better to roll back with a system restore.

I hope this is the right place to post.

I have been having trouble with Mass Effect Andromeda and minor freezing during gameplay. Nothing really major, just annoying pauses in the flow of the graphics and all even in low despite using 2 AMD 390X cards, a Ryzen 7 1700X, and a MSI gaming pro carbon motherboard.

I thought I could fix it with a driver update, but not only did the update fail to go through, now anything that loads causes my computer to freeze. It froze for 10 minutes until all of my software finished booting during the startup, and another 10 minutes while trying to login to Origin.

I have no idea what is going on, and I don't know where to begin to fix it. Please don't ask for a DXdiag because it's impossible to operate this thing right now. Just know I'm running on the 17.4.4 ReLive driver, and for some reason, my computer failed to sucessfully install the 17.7.2 update.

This problem happened before when I tried to install the 17.6.6 version as well, but I was able to fix it by rolling back the driver. I can't now, so now I don't know what to do. Any help ASAP would be great.

Answer:Serious freezing after failed graphics driver update.

Status Update: I hit the reset button after my computer froze while I was uninstalling my drivers completely and, somehow, this not only fixed the problem so far, but it also finished the installation of the latest update as well. The only problem so far is when I click on the gaming icon in the AMD Radeon Settings and the program completely stops working. I can live with that since I don't tinker with them that much, but I would still really like to know what the F*#%tapuss is going on with my computer.

Hi all.

I have an ASUS M-11 tower and I recently had it's Intel HD Graphics (4400) konk out on me. The HDMI output stopped working rendering my tower useless for watching HD movies on.

I tried using an Intel driver updating app but apparently it didn't work. After a reboot I get a solid red screen, with no text on it, and no way to interact with it. I can't login or do anything. The only thing that happens is the screen changes from red to blue if I tap ESC, that is it.

So I accessed the recovery options by pressing F9 at bootup. I chose the Reset PC option. It went thru the process, but after completing and its auto reboot, I just get a blank black screen now with no way to interact. No logos, no updating icons nothing to indicate more stuff is going on like setting up files. If I reboot from this screen, it just reboots the PC and loops back to the same blank black screen.

I tried leaving it for over 20 minutes on the black screen thinking maybe it's just doing stuff in the background, but nothing comes of it.

I am not sure what to do from here. I don't have a recovery USB or disc.

Anyone have another suggestion ?

Please try to uninstall the audio driver >> Restart the laptop, then, right click the audio driver from the device manager and choose update driver software.

It is compatibility issue, só we will let the windows identify the compatible driver by itself.

A bluetooth driver update seems to be the cause of bluescreen crashes on my T410s running windows 7 64bit.  this has happened with all bluetooth driver updates I attempted to install in the past year.  a windows optional update installed a broadcom bluetooth driver which caused crashes. I unstalled the update and the system returned to normal. two lenovo updates had the same problem specifically: thinkpad bluetooth drivers 6.5.1.4500, and 6.2.1.3100. for anyone having similar problems, I found that using the older 6.2.0.9421 bluetooth driver has resolved the issue.

A couple of weeks ago I downloaded the Dell Wireless 1830 Update that has a Release Date of December 22nd, 2016 (although the "View Details" indicates that it was released on January 16th, 2017). Assuming that this was an update, I tried to apply this to my XPS 15 9550 but the update failed. The generated log really did not tell me much but when I investigated what driver version I currently have, I realized that I already had the v12.0.1.750 driver installed with a driver date of 9/23/2015. It apparently was installed as part of the Anniversary Update last August. However looking at the Programs and Features list, the "WIDCOMM Bluetooth Software" entry shows the version of 12.0.1.730 which was the original installation date back in December 2015. I suspect the Anniversary Update changed the driver without updating the underlying software indicator. Below is the pertinent part of the log. I would appreciate if Dell could comment on this.
Thanks,

When are we to expect some updates in the drivers for G510, specifically for both graphics (Intel and AMD)Also I am using G510S's Lenovo Power Management for Windows 8.1(running with no issues) as Windows 8 version was not compatible and there is no Win8.1 version. And there is an update available for Conexant Audio in windows update and after the update when ever I play music, a few seconds in the Audio Device stops(a red cross on volume icon) and then troubleshooter automatically runs and fixes the audio device and audio comes back. Also I would like to request that you bring back Dobly Advanced Audio v2 that was available with WINDOWS 8 version of the driver. It was just much more convienient and I liked its graphics equilizer much better. K thnx G510 - Windows 8.1 Pro X64Core i5 4200MIntel HD4600 & AMD Radeon HD 8570M

Hi, and thanks in advance...

Much of this is a repeat to other threads, until the graphic driver problem at the end...

(I also have an Ubuntu partition.)

I'd left my mp3 player plugged in overnight + an Asus Xonar DAC in a usb hub, when Windows wanted to do an update and conflict over drivers ensued. Strange, because I've selected for notification before updating. Also, have not been successful installing any new updates since the end of May. Was seemingly a common problem, I checked into it, too busy/lazy to pursue and succeed. This part is confusing...?

Woke up to blasting fans and unplugged everything peripheral. First, tried setting back to restore points prior to that night - twice. Could restart in Safe Mode and with networking. Then, could restart normally - but, shutdowns after 20 minutes or so.

Got crash logs, saw driver conflicts (not found) - saved.

Came here, read threads, did restart at Last Known Good Configuration. Restart - Nvidia Geforce driver not found. Went to Asus site, downloaded and installed driver (not lastest version, but last approved version and not much later than one that was installed).

It then went into a system cycled start/restart/etc. attempting to find driver, fix itself - forced to do shutdown to stop it.

Restarted this morning in Safe Mode, followed your instructions for posting. It's been running in safe mode for about 20 minutes now.

I have an Aspire E1-472P.  Some time after updating to Windows 10 I started having problems.  The recent one seems to be with the display driver since when using a second monitor the screen went black and said "Invalid Input" or something like that.  I read a few communities and see that Intel has updated the display driver, but the page suggested installing from Acer in case it is customized.  I checked Acer for any updated drivers for my machine's SNID and it listed the NVidia 10.18.13.5350.  My current display driver is Intel HD Graphics Family version 10.18.15.4248.  From the Acer site I downloaded the NVidia driver suggested (10.18.13.5350), but the install failed and gave a message that it could not find compatible hardware.  I read some similar posts but about different Acer models which suggested trying to downloading the Intel version.  But one user had trouble doing that, and the suggestion was to use the Acer version.  So what approach should I take since the Acer driver didn't work?  Your help would be appreciated.

If your Surface Book, Surface Pro or Windows device fails to install a Firmware or Device Driver update, and which may be accompanied with a Blue Screen, then you may try this:
Open the C:\Windows\inf\setupapi.dev.log file.
Search for error Failed to install device instance among the recent entries.
Above this error you will see a remark saying which .inf file caused the failure. Let us say it is abc99.inf
Now open an elevated CMD, type the following and hit Enter: pnputil -d abc99.inf
Replace abc99.inf is the name of YOUR inf file.
PnPUtil (PnPUtil.exe) is a command line tool that lets an administrator perform the actions on driver packages. Here we are deleting the .inf file.
Now restart your computer and try to run Windows Update again.
Such corrupted Driver installs are being addressed in Windows 10 Redstone.

I then uplug HD2 just to ensure nothing can happen to it during the reformat of HD1. Hi,
I'm a little confused by one of my update options. I was under the impression that windows 7 was using wddm 1.1, and that the wddm 1.0 drivers have been available for quite some time. I checked and the driver I have is wddm 1.0, released 10/28/2008, version number 8.15.10.1590. So why am I being given the option to update to 'pre-release wddm 1.0'? I tried to get more information to check the version number, but I am just redirected to Winqual Help , which doesn't help me any.

I'd like to test out the wddm 1.1 drivers, and I've read that they're available for 7, but I don't think that these are those drivers, unless there is a typo in the driver title.

yes thats right....

wddm is just a driver model...
its up to the manufacture (here intel) to release wddm 1.1 driver
so until then (most likely they wont) they have to release a wddm 1.1

Windows Display Driver Model - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
that should be a good read....

what they mean pre-release means that these drivers are beta drivers (there is a difference between pre-release drivers and pre-release wddm 1.1 drivers)

Anyone have this problem too?  I put in a CD last night.  Won't eject.  NO DEVICE LISTED under Device Manager.  Was working fine prior to that latest update.  Will need to try system restore and/or look for driver online.  ARRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHH

Without even knowing a model number there is very little that can be done.
If the drive is not physically bad then its the mass storage chipset drivers aka INTEL RST and the SATA OPERATION of the drive.
If your system has ATA instead of AHCI that would do it.
The CD vs a DVD is also an issue.
CD's do not have region codes but they do have open or unclosed sessions that would prevent them from being read.
This is error code 39 on the optical drive.

Code 39
Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing.
Uninstall and reinstall the driver

It would be great if HP included some instructions in their update section to walk us through, step by step, how to install a new driver when the previous one must first be uninstalled. Most updates are just click and download. Nothing else required.  But some of us aren't all that comfortable uninstalling drivers and don't know where to begin.

Hi, Thank you for posting. You should not uninstall previous driver prior to updating new one. In Windows 10 you can install updates via Windows Update or Device Manager (preffered method). Here is how >> http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03330139 For non-critical, not so important and other updates, you can also use HP Support Assistant (HPSA) >> http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03467905In HPSA, please skip BIOS/UEFI updates.  Hope this helps. Hi, I have a G 50-80 Laptop (Broadcom for network/bluetooth & Conexant for audio) I just updated my Bluetooth drivers to the latest ones. After that, the Enhancement tab has gone missing. Now I am getting very flat and bland audio from my bluetooth speakers (Unfortunately, Dolby Digital Plus does not work for bluetooth speakers). I have tried all the following steps:1. Uninstall audio drivers and restarting my PC2. Uninstall the new bluetooth drivers and reinstall the old version drivers.... no go.3. Reset the system (reinstalled OS without loosing the personal data)4. Update audio drivers to latest version. None of the above worked. Please help.

Hello, trying to upgrade my Thinkpad Yoga to the most recent drivers I made the unfortunate mistake running the Intel Driver Update utility on the intel website (http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect) and install the most recent drivers. Now Bluetooth doesn't work anymore (it doesn't find my wireless headphones), the system gets reproducibly slower and finally hangs after a few hours, and I have 5 "unknown devices" in the Device Manager: "Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter""Unknown device" (device instance path BTH\MS_BTHPAN\...)"Unknown device" (device instance path BTH\MS_BTHBRB\...)"Unknown device" (device instance path BTH\MS_BTHLE\...)"Unknown device" (device instance path BTH\MS_RFCOMM\...) This is a pain, the machine is my main development machine and it took me over a week to fully set it up. I really really really do not want to go through that again. Does anyone have any ideas how to fully remove the Intel drivers and start from scratch without reinstalling? To me it also looks like part of the MS bluetooth stack went missing - the Bluetooth adapter is correctly setup, but it appears that Windows cannot find the drivers for the Bluetooth peripheral devices. I've been throuh the Device Manager uninstall for the Wireless (it's a 7260AC) + Bluetooth drivers including "Remove drivers" checked , uninstall through "Add/remove programs", lots and lots of reboots in between, disabling/reenabling bluetooth in the BIOS, disabling the b... I've been trying to get my computer back so that I can at least get some stuff on it I don't want lost for the past three days. I was updating an nvidia graphics driver and it froze. So I restarted my computer and things went down-hill from there.

Nothing I know to do (which is more than the average person) works. So most of (and perhaps all of) the quick fixes you all may suggest most likely have already been attempted at least once.

What I am experiencing now is a black screen with a gray bar on the top and bottom. The top is titled: Windows Boot Manager. This is written in the gray bar. The rest of the screen reads:

Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:

1. Insert your windows installation disc and restart you computer.
2. Choose your language setting and then click "Next."
3. Click "Repair your computer."

If you do not have this disc, contact your system administrator or computer manufacture for assistance.

Status: 0xc000000f

Info: The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible.

I am hoping someone can help me get make it so I can at least get some files off. System restore or anything like that is out of the picture because I was planning on getting an external hard drive for backing up, and haven't been able to yet. Ironically, payday is this Friday.

Did you try the suggested startup repair options with the windows 7 dvd/repair disc?

It may take several runs and will at least attempt to repair the partition table.

If you tried that already , then use the commands instead of auto startup repair - usually does the job.

If you have the disc and want further advice, post back.

If you don't have a 7dvd/repair disc , get one from here - the same bit version as your installed o/s ( torrent, but it's usually quick ):

Answer:E320 BIOS Update not working "Driver Loading failed"

hey elmarjason,if i'm not mistaken the bootable bios CD is in an .ISO format . what you could do is this and do note that this is a suggestion and not an official method from Lenovo.download the ISO file .get this software >> http://www.pendrivelinux.com/universal-usb-installer-easy-as-1-2-3/use the above software to make a USB memory stick to become bootable.set your unit's bios to boot from USB and in theory; you should be able to load the bios for installation.

Hi all,

First time poster, advanced thanks for any help

Well here is the story: My PC suffered a crash playing world of warships. Initially it failed to re-boot and just blue screened, thankfully second time round it got far enough that I could load my last restore point. However once it then booted correctly my graphics were all basic (large icons, low resolution etc). None of my games - total war, world of warships would run correctly.

So I tired installing the Nvidia GE force generic driver. This got about half way through installation before crashing and blue screening my PC (again <Sigh>). I then tried running DDU and installing the GTX 560 driver manually but with the same result.

I read around a few forums, made sure I had uninstalled all Nvidia software and manually deleted the registry entries for Nvidia before trying a clean manual install again. Sadly the same result. I waited each time for the Windows 10 updater to try to install the driver before I tried my manual install to avoid a clash.

Now in parrallel with my failed efforts the Windows 10 updater has gamefully been trying to download the three updates below and failing each time:

I am unable to update the Kernel-mode driver framework ver 1.11 for windows 7 for x64-based systems (KB2685811). I get error: 80073712

Answer:Unable to install Windows Update: Update Kernel-mode driver framework

I, again, apologize for double posting. I figure I should include the host of other issues I'm having. Maybe they can all be inter related.

-my DVD/RW drive, when connected to mother board in ANY SATA slot, causes the BIOS screen to freeze forever. I have disconnected the drive at this time while trouble shooting. I have tried known-good SATA cables so I know it's either the DVD/RW drive or perhaps a driver or mobo failure.

-I have run the memory diagnostic tool in windows. No issues were reported.

-I have NOT run memtest86 because I do not have a disk drive connected.

-I have had stop-errors (BSODS) such as PFN_list_corrupt, System_service_Exception, Memory_management, IRQ_not_less_or_Equal
All of these could be a result of bad RAM.

I have purchased new RAM as a means to fix my problems. It seemed to work for 2 weeks, then the stop errors returned.

Windows Update is not telling me I need or can update my Wireless networking, but Intel's Update Driver Utility says I should and is offering the update. How would you recommend I proceed?

Answer:Should I trust Intel's Driver Update utility or Windows Update?

G'day Rolo,

The difference between the two drivers is that the Windows one is digital signed/tested by Microsoft. I would say that unless the Intel one delivers more benefit than the Windows one, and everything works as expected, then there is no need to update.

You often see this with graphics card drivers too, for example.

Hi, On http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-74433 the following version of the Intel HD Graphics Driver is anounced: Version:8.15.10.2253Release Date:2010/12/28 While the package contains a new driver for Intel Display Audio, which can be installed by manual driver update via device mangager it neither seems to update the last installed version 8.15.10.2202 of the graphics driver nor does it contain a new driver for Intel HD Graphics which could be installed manually. Recently Windows updated my Intel HD Graphics 630 driver. A few days later the same driver was released on Dell's driver support page.
Is there any correlation between Windows Update and Dell's drivers? Who does update the drivers Microsoft themselves or Dell needs to release the driver to Microsoft?
As this is the first time when Windows updated the driver is this how the Intel HD Graphics drivers are to be kept up-to-date via Windows Update?

Answer:Windows Update vs Dell Update - Intel HD Graphics 530/630 Driver

ZINGAM,
Referring to the Intel HD graphics driver.
Windows gets code from Intel for the driver and they will implement it in the OS. Dell also gets code from Intel and will release it. Also, Intel will post the driver on their site to download. You can uninstall the Microsoft driver if you choose and install the Dell update driver.

I'm having trouble with a driver update that I hope someone can help me with.  When using Dell Command Update to update drivers on a Latitude E5440 with Windows 7, the bluetooth driver starts to install then the laptop restarts without notice.  It's a nice restart and goes through the shutdown process--not a crash!  I've tried updating the bluetooth driver manually but the it keeps appearing in Command Update as an available update.  This is a problem because our environment has Command Update set to run on a daily schedule so the Latitude E5440s are rebooting every night.  In the grand scheme of things this isn't a big deal, but it is generating complaints and the update program obviously isn't working correctly.  Any suggestions?

For anyone else in this or a similar predicament:

Right-click the Start button and click Run, or use the + R keyboard shortcut to open the Run command dialog.

In the Open text box, type gpedit and click OK.

Expand Computer Configuration > Windows Settings > Security Settings > Application Control Policies > AppLocker > Executable Rules. Right-click in the pane on the right and click Create New Rule... In my case, I created a Publisher rule with action Deny for Everyone, and used an Nvidia driver installer file as the reference file to capture the Publisher information.

Hi,

I want to STOP this, I want myself to choice my driver and update them.

Answer:How to stop Windows Update hardware driver update

Go to Computer configuration=>Administrative Templates=>System=>Device installation=>Device Installation Restrictions=>Prevent installation of devices not described by other policy settings and enable it. This policy setting allows you to prevent the installation of devices that are not specifically described by any other policy setting. You can also delete or comment out HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsUpdate\UpdateHandlers\Driver. Another way is to use "Prevent installation of devices that match any of these device IDs". You can get the ID by going to Device Manager open the device properties go to the Details tab, click the little arrow under Property choose Hardware ID then copy and paste it to your GP policy. Another way is to choose "Prevent Installations of Device Using Drivers that Match These Device Setup Classes" and again use Device manager as above but choose Class GUID instead of Device ID then copy it and insert in the policy. Kind of convoluted way to stop the driver updates but it does work. Be aware this will stop driver installations even of USB sticks you haven't used before so you'll need to disable the policy if you do want to install new drivers for anything. Hope this helps

V92 is a newer standard than V90. It would appear that good old Microsoft has given you older drivers than you originally had.I personally never use driver updates from windows update, instead I prefer to download them from the manufacturers site.

I have tried everything I know to do.  I am an IT Pro with 30 years experience and this one has me stumped...
With the July cummulative update to Windows 10 15063, the Qualcomm Atheros Bluetooth driver has completely failed.  It will not load and reports it is corrupted or unusable.  Here's what I have tried...
1. Remove and reinstall driver - Fail
2. Ensure latest driver from Dell, remove and reinstall - Fail
3. Download latest driver package from Killernetworking.com - Fail
4. Roll back CU (KB4025342) - Success
5. Reinstall CU (KB4025342) - Installs, but kills the bluetooth driver again
6. Contact Dell Support - Fail - Technician said it's a Microsoft problem and I would have to contact them for support. (Ironically: I just bought this laptop two months ago and purchased a 4year premium support contract!).
7. Roll back CU (KB4025342) permanently - Not possible, as it is managed by our Windows Update Server on corporate domain and would effect everyone.  I could do this, but it would be a last resort, and it's unknown what vulnerability I would expose the rest of our W10 clients to.

Has anyone else encountered this issue?  If so, what did you do to resolve?

Dell:  Can you please investigate and resolve?  All bluetooth functionality is broken so long as this CU is in place.

Thank you!

I currently have this problem in regard to the Bluetooth in my Lenovo P70.  There is already a forum topic on this issue at https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/foruams/v3_1/forumtopicpage/board-id/tp07_en/page/1/thread-id/71644.  If you want to respond to that particular problem (It is still unresolved) please do so there.  The pupose of this topic is the more general question of what do you do when a Lenovo-supplied driver update is faulty, especially when you are out of warranty.  (That question has not been answered in the other topic.) Bluetooth was not working on my computer when I went to use it.  The obvious thing to do was to get the latest driver, which I did.  It is n1dww15w.exe.  The driver did not work right in at least 2 ways. 1. It left the Bluetooth items in Device Manager grayed out and marked as: Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45)To fix this problem, reconnect this hardware device to the computer. 2. In the downloaded instructions it said there would be an item Intel(R) PROset/Wireless Software for Bluetooth(R) Technology under Programs & Features.  (This is now called App & Features and is where you uninstall and repair installed programs.)  There was not. This is what I call corrupted. In attempting to resolve this problem other than by installing the OEM drivers, I have installed other drivers from Intel and also from Broadcom (for a US... If you are using Windows 8.1 or 10, you can create go to the Microsoft link below to create Windows Installation media on a DVD or USB Flash Drive, and then use it to boot your computer, select Repair vs Install, and then from the Advanced Repair Options choose to restore your system to a previous System Restore point.   You can also create a System Repair disk from another computer and boot up off of it and run System Restored too, and that would be the best option if you are running Windows 7, but it also works in 8.1 and 10 too.   It can be created on any Windows 7, 8.1 or 10 computer, with the only catch being that it must be a 32-bit or 64-bit version of the OS similar to your Z50, but not necessarily the the same version of Windows.    The Option to create a System Restore Disk can be found under the Backup and Restore/Recovery Control Panel (Control Panel -> System and Security -> Backup and Restore), and requires only a blank CD-R to create. Create installation media for Windowshttps://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/15088/windows-create-installation-media Windows regularly creates System Restore points, so you should be able to restore back to one prior to the driver update using one of the methods above and get your system back up and running. How to Create and Use a Recovery Drive or System Repair Disc in Windows 8 or 10https://www.howtogeek.com/131907/how-to-create-and-use-a-recovery-drive-or-syste... Will be released new drivers for Video Cards, because lastest for AMD or Intel are from 2013.(Sorry for my English :-) )

Answer:Lenovo G510 Driver Update

hi Maksanty,

AFAIK, once there are new drivers, it will be automatically rolled out to the G510 drivers page.

Alternatively,if can also opt to install the graphics driver from the following locations or from Windows Updates:
Intel:Intel® Driver Update Utility
or
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/

AMD:
http://support.amd.com/en-us/download

Note:
In some cases, switchable graphics only works with the OEM driver. You will need to check and observe if graphics switching works well with the new drivers above.

Regards

Hi, i purchased a lenovo ideapad z500 last week, it has a core i5 CPU and a Nvidia Geforce gt 635m GPU, i wanted to update the drivers for the GPU but when i went in lenovo's website i noticed there are two drivers for the nvidea controler : Nvidia Video Driver (N13P-GLR, N13P-GSR) for Windows 8 (32-bit, 64-bit)and Nvidia Video Driver (N14P-GV2) for Windows 8 (32-bit, 64-bit) so which one should i download ? knowing that both are listed as compatible with the Z500 ? thanks.

Answer:Lenovo z500 GPU driver update

HiFirsly, i would like to state that there is no need to update drivers if the current ones are working fine. The two drivers, i searched for each of them in google. I think it is something related to the bios. The other thing i noted was that one had phhysx mentioned and the other didn't. So maybe, one is for physx supported systems only. It would be better to if a lenovo employee clears for us.

Hi everyone, my setup - Windows 8.1, Intel Dual Band Wireless AC 7260 with Bluetooth integrated. After installing latest Bluetooth package from Intel (via Lenovo System Update), I lost Bluetooth permanently. - I tried to uninstall the driver update, nothing changed.- I tried to restore via Windows Restore Point (I made a fresh restore point before installing these updates), no success... I have noticed that: - When this happened, the fingerprint reader behaved strange - it didn't light up (with green light) at the Windows start, and Windows was asking me for a password instead of fingerprint.- In device manager. Bluetooth category disappeared (I was there before the upgrade - for sure.). but I saw a new unrecognized device which name ended with something like "(Device Enumeration failed)" - this could propably be the Bluetooth card.- The tray icon for Bluetooth disappeared.- The Bluetooth submenu of the System and Devices option in Windows Settings disappeared (and it was there before). - Searching for Bluetooth in Windows 8.1 setting (with Win + W hotkey) athough returned "Configure Bluetooth Devices" or similar, but when I clicked it, it couldn't navigate to that option - just took me to the main settings screen. I had to do a system restore using Linux (fortunately made a full HD image backup of both HDD and SSD drives using Clonezilla - that was the only way to repair this actually - instead of full reinstall of Windows). The only driver that ...
