I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

After many hours work trying to get this to work after upgrading from Vista, the latest drivers for the card (7uw706.exe) seemed to work okay with a vodafone signal being shown but I was unable to connect. Looking through many web forums, lots of people seem to be having similar problems with these cards in Lenovo machines. I finally discovered that the APN needs to be set for UK operation and now I can connect okay. However, it does not seem to be controllable with "Access Connections" (Blutooth and WiFi adaptors can be controlled okay here) which either shows card is "Disabled" or it is not possible to switch it on. Despite this, the WAN indicator on the front of the PC is always on unless I physically switch all radios off with the front hardware button. Even with this button OFF, a reboot results in the WAN module showing as ON again and it is necessary to physically switch all radios on and off again to extinguish this. Presumably this card is still powered when the indicator is lit which will affect battery life. I believe I am using the latest Access Connections Utility (6gc725ww.exe). Anybody else notice these problems (especially Lenovo Tech people).......?

Answer:What is the value of the Integrated Mobile Broadband add on?

The value is for people whom knows definitely that they are going to use mobile broadbands, in addition the reception using the integrated system would be better than the external usb plugins (most of them anyway), if you only occasionally use mobile broadband then some people would suggest an external one. It really depends whether you are a road warrior that need constant mobile internet access.

I am trying to figure out the best configuration for my X1 Carbon tablet which I am planning to order. I have gotten stuck on the option for Integrated Mobile Broadband.I am based in Sweden, with a Telia subscribtion, and want to be able to slot a simcard into the computer. Which of the two options should I then choose (for some reason Lenovo completely refuses to answer this question in any other media (phone, email, distributor, etc) than in this forum so hopefully someone here can help me): * N5321 Mobile Broadband HSPA+* LTE Sierra EM7345 Thx!

why lenovo omitted Integrated Mobile Broadband options such as Ericsson F5521g with 21Mbps D/L and Gobi 3000 from its list for customising a thinkpad T-420? and what people do now ( without those modules)  if they want to use a simcard for connecting to internet whenever they carry their laptop and need web services?

Answer:Integrated Mobile Broadband options

Hi AmirNa!

I have no idea why the Lenovo Australia online store shows no Integrated Mobile Broadband options for the T420 at the moment. I would call them, or find an in-stock standard model with Integrated Mobile Broadband at a reseller.

Hope this help!

Hello,Ordered a laptop with this option. & have inserted a SIM card I used in my "old Sony laptop that I used for WWAN.What else is needed to connect? Thanks

Answer:What does " Integrated Mobile Broadband upgradable" mean?

Hi rookie66, welcome to the forums,

it means that everything you need for broadband, WWAN, is present except the all important module which actually makes it all work.  The module can be purchased separately, or, on some systems the slot where it sits can be used for a solid state drive instead.

As you probably want to use WWAN, if you post which system you have members will be able to inform you exactly what you need to realise it.

What does this mean? I ordered a T410 with this option and I would like to connect to my Verizon account- do I need a SIM card from Verizon to get mobile broadband to work. It appears no mobile hardwear is installed on the machine??  My x61 had the drivers and hardwear already installed - so this was previously very easy to do. Thanks in advance.

Hi and welcome to the forum!Upgradable means that the internal antennas are installed inside, but you need physical Mobile Broadband card to use WWAN, the card can be bought from lenovo. I'm not sure about the SIM part though, isn't Verizon CDMA? were you given a SIM for your X61 from Verizon (given that you were using same connection)?

I have an HP EliteBook Revolve 810 G1 Tablet with an inbuilt HP hs2350 HSPA+ Mobile broadband module. I have an 3G working SIM inserted. This was working very well with WIndows 8.1 and I was able to connect to internet easily with it and use this as a broadband connection. I recently installed Windows 10 64 bit as a fresh install. It recognises the HP hs2350 HSPA+ Mobile broadband module and installs a generic driver fro the same. The SIM card and mobile service operator (Vodafone IN) is also recognized and I can see a full signal strength. However when I try to connect to internet through WIndows 10, it does not work. The error message is " Cant Connect to this network.  Enter an APN and try again " In the "Cellular" under advanced settings, I have configured teh APN as per settings provided by the service provider (esp. APN name "www") everything else as default. However when I connect to the internet using this it gives me this error message mentioned above. The SIM card is worknig adn when I connect it to an Android phone it works very well. However when I connect my tablet using windows 10 it gives me an error. I reached out to Vodafone and they tried out quite a fe different settings but their inference is that its a Windows 10 issue. Can you please help? Parthesh Gulawani

Can someone confirm for me that ordering this will get me an Ericsson F3507G?  I have been told from our I.T. purchasing that it will be an Option card and he can get it cheaper and install himself.  I am trying to replicate a previously purchased unit  that is out in the field, for testing. Thanks

Answer:X200 Tablet with Integrated AT&T Mobile Broadband (Ericsson 3G with GPS)

If you are configuring that in the online store, the "Integrated AT&T Mobile Broadband (Ericsson 3G with GPS)  [add $80.00]" will be the F3507G, unless there has been a recent change. Amazing if your IT guy can go through the purchasing cycle, install, and test, for less than that.

I just received my new T500 laptop with integrated AT&T mobile broadband card.  There are no instructions (i.e. printed material, installation CDs, or on-screen messages) on how to activate this feature.  I currently use the AT&T service on my T61 laptop using a broadband modem card plugged in to the side of the computer.  This laptop came with an integrated Verizon mobile broadband card and every single time I boot up a message comes up asking if I want to activate / subscribe to the Verizon service.  No such message (for AT&T) comes up on my new T500. Can anyone provide me with step-by-step instuctions on how to get set up and going?  Also, are there any AT&T broadband service users who can share any helpful tips in transferring an existing service from one computer to another? Thanks in advance for any help!

Answer:How do I Activate (Integrated) AT&T Mobile Broadband Card on T500?

"Also, are there any AT&T broadband service users who can share any helpful tips in transferring an existing service from one computer to another?" Just move the activated SIM card.  I have one activated SIM card that I move between a T60 and a T61 as required. Both of these machines have internal integrated Sierra cards, though. Have to remove the batteries while moving the SIM card. As far as activating service on your new T500, you should be able to do that by calling AT&T Wireless. Two people in previous threads on this forum have gone that route. Centex

When I ordered my T410s, I chose the "upgradeable" option.  What does that exactly mean?  Does this mean that I have all the hardware already pre-installed, and I just need a SIM card and a service plan?  I noticed what appears to be a SIM card slot underneath the battery.  Should have thought ahead when I ordered the ThinkPad and had them set it up ready to go from the beginning.  Thanks.

Answer:Integrated Mobile Broadband - Upgradeable vs. Gobi 2000

Upgradable means you have the SIM slot and built-in antenna, but need to insert a WWAN mini PCI adapter like the Gobi 2000. So you have all the hardware except the WWAN adapter. The WWAN adapter is easy to insert and not that expensive to buy so it's no big deal, but if you are going to use mobile broadband you could as well have bought the Gobi 2000 instead of upgradable. You need a SIM card and a plan as well from a mobile network operator in your country. -gan

Hello allI have a new Thinkpad Edge E130 with built in Ericsson H5321 gw Mobile Broadband Module, with GPS.With the original installation of Windows 7 (downgraded), everything works fine! I intstalled a new harddisk (with SSD cache), therefore I had to install Windows 7 again by myself, with a original Windows 7 64Bit.After the installation (Win7 and all drivers), in the Device Manager i still have a yellow exclamation mark beside the H5321 gw Mobile Broadband GPS Port. The error message is "this device cannot start (code 10)". It has to be a driver/software problem, because in the original installation this problem doesn't appear. So I tried everything to fix this problem, (reinstalling the device, reinstalling windows, using different drivers....) no success. I searched on the internet, even here on the lenovo community forum, no solution... Is there anybody out there who has a solution for this problem?Thank you very much!!!

I purchased a mobile broadband module per factory spec for my laptop so I got the lt2522 Novatell broadband module. I did not have a sim yet but wanted to make sure the install and drivers were present and working before I ordered the sim. I installed the module without issue using factory antenna wires already present in the slot marked WWAN, I installed the drivers listed for my laptop on hp website (sp60048 Novatel Mobile Broadband 3.18.30.1) Driver installed without any issues and broadband module showed in device manager as "Enabled and working correctly" under each line of "Modems, Network Adapters, and Ports. I opened HP connection manager and the Module was powered on and it just said "No Sim" So I assumed that the Module install and driver install was completed and functional. I called Verizon and paid to have a Pre-activated Sim mailed to me.  2 days later I got the Sim, inserted it, opened HP connection manager and ever since all I can do is turn the power on and off to the module, but whenever the power is turned on it reads "disabled in device manager" which I know is not true, I have rechecked device manager a dozen times, removed and installed module and driver package multiple times. Even reinstalled module and drivers without Sim and it still says "disabled in device manager". Hello All: I can't get the GPS location feature working on my new W520 (4270-CTO).  The device did work once, the first day I had the computer (before running Microsoft Update and Lenovo Update), however, it has not worked since then. I've tried everything I can think of - removing and re-installing all the software, double-checking the BIOS, looking for device driver problems - but no luck.  When I launch the 'GPS Enabler' application, all I see is 'Satellite Acquisition in progress...".  I know the laptop can see the satellite constellation because I have a small hand-held GPS beside the laptop, and it has an excellent view of the satellites.  So does my Blackberry. My operating system is Windows 7 Pro, 64 bit, SP 1 (what the computer shipped with).  I've installed the 83wo13ww driver package (nominally version 6.4.1.6, according to the readme file, but displayed as driver version 1.4.0.5 in the properties sheet of the driver when viewed via the Device Manager); the 83wa20ww Lenovo Mobile Broadband Activation package ( version 4.0.0020); and the 83gp31ww ThinkVantage GPS package (version 2.72). I'm running Access Connections 5.84 (build 83c755ww), which I believe is the current release.  I have placed a SIM card in the slot in the back of the computer, and when I launch the Lenovo Mobile Broadband Activation, it shows all the appropriate information (IMEI, ICCID, etc.) for the SIM card... I purchased a W530 with integrated mobile and have been trying to connect with various networks to no avail. I have a Type 2436-CTO S/N xxxxxxx 13/08 and Windows 8 came installed when I received. I have upgraded BIOS and everything that Lenovo solutions says I need to update.

The MEID is A1xxxxxxxxxxx. It came with an integrated Sierra Wireless MC8355-Gobi 3000 modem. I have downloaded an updated driver for Windows 8 for the MC8355. I have spoken with almost every Lenovo technical person as well as taken the computer to various network stores and so far no one can figure out why it won't connect to Verizon.

Verizon says I'm active and the computer error message says I am not active. Every tech has tried to look at the system by logging into my computer and no one can figure it out. The device manager says the MC8355 is working. Interesting when it was shipped to me it also had an AT&T sim card installed. After I had signed up with AT&T and one mo of paying for service they determined it would not work on their network. Finally someone told me to take the AT&T sim card out and it still will not connect.

Verizon tells me I do not need a sim card as I have the MC8355 but they can't tell me why I can't connect. Now I've paid for Verizon service for one month and still cannot connect. Everything else works fine with the W530. I've owned ThinkPads exclusively since the first one ever came out. I've never not been able to connect to mobil... Read more

Confused about a few things:1. My W530 came with a ATT SIM Card, does this mean I can't use Lenovo Mobile access and need to sign a contract with ATT? the purchase page was a little misleading if that's the case. Can I get a Lenovo SIM and return my ATT SIM?Why has Lenovo loaded the Lenovo Mobile Access software on this system, It just doesn't work... 2.Cannot make the Gobi-3000 device work on Windows 8. Hi I got another new laptop X230T with Gobi 3000 (AT&T). And it was brought to another country where I found the local WCDMA 3G provider. The problem is I could not connect to the mobile broadband with AC (5.93). Everytime I try to connect, it tries to initialize the hardware, then on the FN+F5 window, I can see the hardware is disabled, and I was asked to activate the mobile broadband. However, i can't activate it. Please advice how to connect to the mobile broadband with the SIM from local service provider.  BTW, earlier i got a X230 with Gobi 4000, and it worked smoothly with the same SIM without any activation problems. The AC is also the same version 5.93 (the default 5.95 didn't work).  Thanks.

Hi all

I'm using an external mobile broadband modem to connect my PCs to internet. I share its connection with an adhoc network in a Windows 7 PC. IP addressing is set to DHCP and all other computers and devices can successfully connect to the adhoc network, and they have access to internet. The problem begins when a guest computer begins to heavily use the internet, like when starts to download a file. I see the "Windows has detected an IP address conflict" error on the host computer, and the mobile broadband connection stops and won't work until I disconnect and reconnect it.

Any ideas about what's happening and how to fix it?

Hello!  Recently I installed the latest updates for my computer through the System Update program. Unfortunally it seems like the updater doesn't manage to install all the updates, and that are the drivers for the "Ericsson F3507g Mobile Broadband Minicard PC SC Port". I open it in "device management" (dont't know the translation), and find there are no drivers installed. So is it also for the "Ericsson ... GPS Port/Device Management".  Because of this I can no longer connect to WiFi. I have visited lenovos driver pages, and downloaded the requested driver, including the others needed, and installed them manually. The problems is that Ericcson driver keeps "rolling back" during installation after having paused at 100% (the same happened through System Update). It resets the installation, only leaving the message that it was interrupted.  I have never had this problem before, and I don't see why I suddenly would be without WiFi drivers. However I'm stuck, can't find any previous driver versions to install (nor roll back to an older driver as there is none).  Any help would be highly appreciated! Thanks Message Edited by tormhau on 06-18-2009 12:10 PM

Hi,

I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this, but anyway here goes:

I recently did a complete format of my PC and a clean install of Windows XP Pro, and for some reason Windows cannot seem to find my Integrated Audio Hardware. I am using an AOpen AX4B-533N Motherboard, which Realtek Ac97 Drivers, anyway, I've tried installing the drivers that came with my motherboard and they don't seem to work, and either do the ones on the internet, from the AOpen Website. When I say they don't work I mean, that windows still says that no audio devices were found, in the audio settings.

Hi, I have a desktop pc on xp with a "three" mobile broadband connection. I am trying to share this internet connection with my ipod touch by following this guide:

http://geekandmoney.com/2009/03/3g-internet-connection-sharing-over-wifi-on-windows-xp/

I have managed to setup the wireless connection and my ipod will connect but the internet does not work.

There is a follow up to the guide explaining the problem i have:

http://geekandmoney.com/2009/08/internet-connection-sharing-tips/

The solution it suggests requires me to identify the ip address for the internet connection of my usb broadband modem, and assign my wireless network a similar ip. I cant find the ip for my usb modem though, can anyone tell me how I might go about this or suggest anything else that might be preventing the ipod from accessing the internet connection?

Any help appreciated.

Can someone confirm whether the Sierra Wireless HSDPA Network Adaptor is supplied locked or unlocked on the X60s? Just bought an X60s and was told the internal SIM slot is unlocked and would take any SIM card but for some reason it's taken an unhealthy dislike to my T-Mobile SIMs. When I load the ThinkVantage Access Communications Wireless Connection Staus window and click on the Mobile Broadbad tab, at the top above the Connection Status box I get the message "SIM card is locked...." When I load ThinkVantage Access Communications and press the Mobile Broadband button, I get the following message "The installed SIM card is not authorised for use with integrated Mobile Broadband adaptor in your computer." This latter message seems to suggest that Sierra Wireless HSDPA Network Adaptor is locked.

Pretty bad for gaming...
Even a super basic fx5200 64bit blows it away in some cases. In others it's a little faster.

It might run those games, but they likely will be very slow, possibly unplayably slow.

Hi all, I bought this laptop (model: VQ664ET) recently and I know noticed on the battery bay, there is a SIM card slot (to which I assume to be use with the HP Mobile Broadband Module).  The issue is that I don't seem to able to find any driver / software / utilities on the operating system (Windows 7 Professional) to make use of this feature. How would I able to determine if the mobile broadband module exists in my unit and could the SIM card slot is only there for "future expansion" where I would need to buy the mobile broadband module separately? Appreciate if anyone could share some light on this. Many thanks!!

Answer:HP Elitebook 8440p - Broadband Module Question

HI: You can do this a couple of ways: The non-invasive way is to check your device manager and in the network adapters section click on that and you will see what network adapters you have.  You should first check your HP Wireless assistant to make sure all devices are turned on. The first indicator of whether or not you have a WWAN card is if there is an option in your Wireless Assistant to turn it on.  If there isn't, you probably don't have one.  But you can make sure in the device manager...You will see a LAN adapter, a WLAN adapter and if you have a WWAN card installed you will see either an Ericsson F3607 SDG 900 HSPA minicard or a Qualcomm Evolution-Data only (EVDO)/High-speed packet access (HSPA) minicard. If you don't see either of these, you don't have a WWAN card installed. Now for your second question...can you install one if there isn't one. Maybe. This will take a couple minutes on your model to simply remove the plastic cover to the bay where it goes. If you see antennas in the bay, you can easily add a WWAN card. If you don't then I wouldn't bother as it will be a lot of work to take the whole notebook apart to add antennas. If you look on page 4-14 of the link to your service manual I have attached, you will see how to remove the cover to where the WWAN module goes. You will need a very small (jewelers) Philips head screwdriver. Before taking off the cover, remove the A/C power and main battery. If you don't do this, you could shor... Read more

Recieved my new X220 Tablet today (i7, 8GB, etc) and have to say its looks a nice bit of kit - only problem is I thought 'Integrated Wireless Broadband - Upgradable' - meant it had integrated WBB but you could choose upgraded hardware if you wanted - turns out what this really means is it has nothing unless you choose the Erricson device

Also, wish I hadnt upgraded the antennas as you lose the built in webcam - I didnt realise that by upgrading this component you lost what is essentially a given on most other laptops

Not a great start to ownership - I am about to try the pen to see if this is as bad as they say - if it is, its going straight back!

Hello, I purchased a T400s in the UK which came with a Vodafone SIM inside it for mobile broadband. However, due to some error, this SIM never was activated and I can't use it. I'm wondering if I can purchase a mobile broadband SIM from T-Mobile (or indeed anyone else) and use it with integrated SIM component of the laptop - does anyone know if this would work just fine, or would any hardware or software modifications be required? (I have a clean install of Windows 7 on the laptop.) Thanks for any input, /vijayan

Answer:Mobile broadband SIM

Will work, if you will have SIm card with 3G activated. If you have model F3507g, then this is Erricson hardware and if you are not fun of Access Connections tool of Lenovo (i do not use this tool), then i can recommend you simple tool directly from Ericsson http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/support/mobilebroadband/download/wirelessmanager/gc83?lc=en&cc=us

Question: Mobile broadband

I bought a Lenono Thinkpad Edge E530c and would like to use the internal 3G mobile connecting. I inserted my sim into the sim slot under the batery compartment but its not working.  It looks like the drivers are missing. When I start the Mobile connection app it give me "No Wireless Mobile Broadband device found." When I go look in the device manager I cant see any modems installed. So how do I make use of the 3G sim slot to connect to the internet? I also downloaded some bluetooth / modem drivers for my series but nothing seems to work. Please help.

Answer:Mobile broadband

Hi,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

To activate WWAN in your Lenovo ThinkPad E530c, first you have to ensure that you have a WWAN card and WWAN antennas installed. WWAN upgradable models have the WWAN antennas installed from the factory these will be red and blue wires (the Wi-Fi are typically white, black and grey or just black and grey depending on model). If you have WWAN antennas installed from the factory, probably you need to purchase a compatible WWAN card and install it. If you have a WWAN card installed in your system, install Lenovo Mobile Broadband Activation which will guide you through the activation of mobile broadband.

Go to Lenovo Support site, enter MTM number of your device in quick path and get the system specifications. If you find any difficulties, please share the MTM of your device.

Hope this helps!

Best regards,
Mithun.

Hi, I've a Lenovo S10-3 to which I've fitted an Ericsson F3607GW wwan card for Lenovo notebooks FRU: 60Y3237.  I bought the card from Hong Kong via Ebay.  I downloaded driver 83W013WW.exe from the Lenovo site and it allows me to connect in areas of 3G coverage. Unfortunately we don't have full 3G coverage in Australia and in my home region there is only a GSM signal and the card will not connect to it, although my old usb plug in modem works fine!  According to the Ericsson data sheet the F3607GW has the full range of frequency bands avilable - so it should work! I see that other drivers and the Ericsson broadband Manager are available and would welcome help in what drivers/broadband managers to use.  I have read on other forums that some other modems require the region to be set to '3' to allow proper working in Australia. I would welcome advice on which drivers/manager etc to use to get the card working properly in Australia. If anyone has experience with the GPS capability of this card I would like to learn how it was done - that's the next step after getting the wireless broadband function to work! Looking forward to some good advice! Rogerf

Answer:Mobile Broadband on the s10-3, GPS?

hi rogerf.due to it was working before, i can say there's no compatible issue with the device and computer.you may need to contact ericsson or the mobile provider in aussie. still, there may be users here who has/had the same issue. you can wait for reply.

I phones 3 connect support and they were uselss. When I looked into device manager, and click on the icon (which has a ! on it) it says:
Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19).

It wont auto load and im getting pretty fed up. Please can anyone help. I am thinking I must have deleted some drivers, but when i select 'update driver' it says that my drivers are fully updated.

Question: Mobile Broadband

Hi - We are a company which uses a laptop to connect to our secure centre and the internet. We currently use a Orange Mobile GC75 data card which connects to the Orange network and then we dial in to our services and the internet. Our systems are advancing greatly and the GC75 card doesnt give a quick enough connection (Is seems like dial up again) so i was wondering if there was a broadband connection that we could use?Another problem is that there isnt a very good Orange signal where we are so was wondering if there was a data card that could be used with a manx card?We are also looking at buying a new laptop so i can get the best possible to match the data card.I may have got myself in a muddle here but basically i just want a mobile broadband connection that can be used everywhere when on the move with the best signal possible to make it more stable. You help would be much appreciated!

Question: Mobile broadband

Hi By default the Mobile broadband card in my X301 is turned off. Is it possible to turn in on by default when Windows start ups

Answer:Mobile broadband

It has to be mentioned as matter of disclaimer really since this forum is innundated with users who mistakenly believe they're x was GSM / CDMA equipped when they notice the SIM card slot under the battery. Most X's have the SIM slot but this seems standard regardless if the user configured or will have it installed. Assuming you spec'd your for the card and aren't being hopefully confused by spotting the slot....1. Check your BIOS setting to ensure the card is enabled2. check devmgmt.msc for the WiFi or "MobileBroadband" category since the category isn't standard and verify the card is properly installed and enabled / if it is then verify in the cards Advanced properties to ensure the OPERATING SYSTEM DOESN'T TURN OFF THE CARD TO SAVE POWER !!!! Still failing then contact tech support or reply with the rest of the story and whatever inordinary things you've done to this thing because the manufacturers and cellular providers along with Lenovo's group have worked extraordinarily hard to even COOPERATE IN DETERMINING CONFIGURATION AND RARE FOR  SO MANY THINGS TO COME TOGETHER SO WELL IN LAPTOP AS DO BROADBAND CARDS. The cards monthly subscription costs and cellular usage penalties has forced them to behave so cohesively when delivering the option since the type of person who buys a broadband card expects it to work and work out of the box. If you could take an official or even unofficial survey of what kind of hardware failure makes end users and prosum... OK, I asked a question before and got one response...but not answers. This should be simple.1. I have been using the mobile broadband on my T410 for 3 years. It worked fine.2. I did a major windows update.3. Mobile broadband has gone. There is nothing! COmputer says there is no sim card. (there is a sim card and I reinserted it)4. FN F5 bring up no mobile broadband.5. I am paying my $30/ month and have had nothing for past 4 months!!! its killing me. 6.  It worked once for 3 years. Now it does not work. I tried reinstaling the software and it gets almost rhrough and says "There is no mobile sim card installed in this computer"!! Ugggh!!!!7. Lenovo support is useless. Even tho I only annoyed them one time with a problem in 3 years of service contract, my contract ended a couple months ago....so no help there....I have spoken to a dozen people and none have a clue what to do. Surely someone out there has seen or heard about this? My computer cannot be convinced that mobile broadband should be allowed to work!!   HELP!

Answer:Mobile Broadband....need help - its gone...!

I'm the person who responded before. Could anyone who has mobile broadband and who has kept all the various Microsoft and Lenovo updates current tell us that their WWAN is still working? It seems odd if Wombat and I both had a hardware failure at the same update time, but I suppose it could happen. PS My card is an Ericsson 3507

Answer:mobile broadband

Hi and welcome to the forums.

I assume you live in the UK like me so I think I can help.

I use 3 mobile broadband which in my opinion is the best of the PAYG tariffs. You can buy a dongle which is the expensive bit or if you have an unlocked 3G phone which allows tethering you can use that if you know how to set it up.
You get 150MB of free data when you top up (minimum ?5 in store, ?10 online) plus it also works as a phone if you want it to.
This 150MB of data lasts 90 days or until you use it all up.
This means it works out you spend ?1.66 for 50MB of data every month, which if you have static broadband at your home should be enough. If you ever use more than this just top up more regularly.

For more info (and probably a much clearer explanation visit 3 - Pay As You Go - SIM Only - Free stuff - Free stuff with every top-up)

I don't know too much about Virgin medias mobile broadband but a good place to start would be here Mobile Broadband - Broadband - Virgin Media

Hope this helps, Oli.

EDIT: After reading your post more carefully, it sound like your do not have your Internet connection going into a Wireless router and then to your laptop and desktop.

This suggests to me that your Virgin Contract may be quite old as all new tariffs include a free Wireless router and setup, not to mention less to pay per month (I went down this road with BT, tripled my connection speed, got a load of free stuff and I now pay ?10 less per month.)

Hi.I have a lenovo thinkpad x201t 2985-DMG which was delivered with win7-32.I have reinstalled it with win7-64bit. I have not yet got the touch to work. But more troublesome is the GOBI2000 mobile internet. I use Access Connections 5, and I set up a new location profile. When I press connect it takes a while then it says:'SIM card is not present. Insert the SIM and try again.'I have tried with two different SIM-cards which works in other machines. Do I need a driver for the SIMcard-reader or could mine be broken?

Answer:No mobile broadband.

You did try inserting them the right way? It happened to me once - I was inserting it wrong side first

Question: mobile broadband

Hi I am using vodafone mobile broadband while on holiday. I am able to receive emails but am having a problem sending them. There is no error message it just times out. I have rebooted laptop but am getting nowhere - had the same problem a few weeks ago - the email i was sending just sat in my outbox until I got home. Any suggestions appreciated

Answer:mobile broadband

The general rule is that you must send mail using the SMTP server of the ISP with which you are connected to the internet. At the moment, that means using Vodafone's SMTP server. Your email program will almost certainly be configured to use the SMTP server of your home broadband provider, which won't work with the Vodafone connection.

I have just purchased a Lenovo T420s with the built in mobile broadbank option.  I don't seem to have received a sim with my package, is that normal?  Any suggestions as to the best place to pick one up?

Answer:Mobile Broadband Sim

Did you configure it with the Gobi 3000 card? If you did call Lenovo and they should send you out the missing SIM card. Hit Fn+F5 and check for the Wireless WAN option in there.

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum.

I will be moving from the rented house I've been in for 21 months into a new house in the next couple of months. The house is a new-build and I will obviously not have broadband to start with - don't know if I'll have a phone line straightaway yet. I am trying to work out the best way to get online during this time.I am in the UK.

I went in to an O2 shop today and they were trying to sell me a dongle which cost £20 and then £2 a day, £7.50 for a week and £15 for a month. This would get over my immediate problem of geing broadband-lacking when I move but wasn't quite what I had in mind. I was thinking more of a dongle with x amount of Gbs (to be decided) which doesn't have clock running on it. So, after I've stopped needing it at the new house, I could take it out and about with me on my laptop whenever I wanted and when it ran out I'd top it up.

Does such a deal exist and, if so, what size in Gbs would be OK? We use aroung 10Gb per month on average but that's with the kids looking at YouTube, using iPlayer a bit so assume that just a bit of surfing would need less? Thanks for any help.

Answer:Mobile broadband Pay-as-you-go?

Hi,
I use '3' mobile broadband all over UK. £10 per month, 1gb which is plenty for an hour or so a day surfing plus emails.

I think in a new build you'll soon have utility providers beating a path to your door!!

I have 3 mobile Broadband. I have a monthly contract. Can I use it abroad, if so what do I do now?

Answer:Mobile Broadband

You would not be able to use your 3 mobile Broadband abroad as difference country uses difference system via their mobile network, you will also need an account with the local broadband supplier Mobile roaming calls worldwide is difference than mobile broadband Most International telephone companies have an agreement between themselves that will allow you to use your local mobile phone on there local network and charge you roaming fees from 80% - 175% above the normal cost some also charge you both ways, for receiving a call or a text message and when you make a call

Question: Mobile Broadband

I have mobile broadband with 3. Today I tried to connect and did so successfully. However, when I check the connection to see my how my usage was going my 3 connection manager told me I was not connected? How can this be? I am connected to the internet via my USB 3 modem not wifi and am surfing the net.Can anyone help me understand this?

Answer:Mobile Broadband

When you install the 3 Mobile Broadband software, an entry is added in the Network Connections folder for a "Dial-up" connection. If you double click this, you will connect without having to use the Connection Manager, which may still show you as *NOT* connected, even though you are.Additionally, if the Mobile Broadband is set as your default connection and in "Control Panel > Internet Options > Connections" you have selected either...- Dial whenever a network connection is not present- Always dial my default connection...then as soon as you run a program that requires internet access (web browser, email etc), the Mobile Broadband will connect.

HiI'm having a problem with mobile broadband on our x200 laptops After a period of use the HSPA Mobile broadband becomes grayed out. On investigation it seems like the entire ericsson network adaptor has been removed as it has gone from device manager and it re detected . Reinstalling the driver makes no difference . The wireless and Lan connections are not afffected . On rebuilding the laptop the network adaptor returns so it does exsist on the laptop This is happening over multiple laptops . We have a locked down user profile so users would not be able to removed the hardware . Has anyone seen this before ?? Peter

Hi,I was wondering whether my R50 laptop can support mobile broadband. I have tried to insert a Three dongle but nothing happens. The laptop has recently had a major problem and the software has been returned to factory settings a number of times. So I don't know whether a driver is required and it has not been put back on or whether the laptop is just too old? Thanks Extin

Answer:R50 - mobile broadband?

hey extin, welcome to the forums.hard for me to say if a driver is needed or not. The unit of yours, is it running on XP on Win7 ?If it is on XP, a high chance you may need a driver. I would then suggest that you get in contact with the mobile broadband vendor and check with them.

Answer:GPS without Mobile broadband

Not all cards are supported and may need to be unlocked, see related threads on this.  May be easier to use a USB GPS device while not using your minutes.
