X60s - Is the built-in 3G mobile Mobile Broadband adaptor locked?

Question: X60s - Is the built-in 3G mobile Mobile Broadband adaptor locked?

Can someone confirm whether the Sierra Wireless HSDPA Network Adaptor is supplied locked or unlocked on the X60s? Just bought an X60s and was told the internal SIM slot is unlocked and would take any SIM card but for some reason it's taken an unhealthy dislike to my T-Mobile SIMs. When I load the ThinkVantage Access Communications Wireless Connection Staus window and click on the Mobile Broadbad tab, at the top above the Connection Status box I get the message "SIM card is locked...." When I load ThinkVantage Access Communications and press the Mobile Broadband button, I get the following message "The installed SIM card is not authorised for use with integrated Mobile Broadband adaptor in your computer." This latter message seems to suggest that Sierra Wireless HSDPA Network Adaptor is locked.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer:Built-in Mobile Broadband on Edge 13

I think you have to create a Location Profile manually. My Edge 13 was delivered with a vodafone SIM. I now am using a t-mobile SIM for which I needed to create a Location Profile in Access Connections manually. It shouldn't be to difficult to do this.

Apa kaba Tabina,

The standard configuration for that model is....

Product: ThinkPad X61 7675-49J

Operating system: All

Original description: T7300(2GHz), 1GB RAM, 120GB 5400rpm HD, 12.1in 1024x768 LCD, Intel X3100, Bluetooth, Modem, 1Gb Ethernet, Fingerprint reader, 4c Li-Ion, WinVista Business

...so, no it didn't come from the factory with a WWAN device installed.

All X61 models have the body moulding for a SIM card slot, but there may be no "reader" for a SIM card on the planar board behind the slot, or any WWAN antennas in the screen assembly.  The only way you can tell for certain is to disassemble the X61 and see if it has "WWAN ready" components installed...... but my guess it is highly unlikely that it would.

My X61 76763PM certainly doesn't.

Cheers,

Bill

As of today, I am the proud owner of a W500. Came with built-in Vodafone mobile broadband, incl an offer for a 30-day no-charge trial for UK customers (of which I am one). Just need to register with Vodafone and off you go. So far the theory. The practice is that the ICCID registered with the W500 is not recognised by the Vodafone online registration system, and the Vodafone sales and support people don't seem to have any idea how to activate the trial, either. Am mightily peefed about this - so peefed that I have emailed the Vodafone CEO just now. Anyone else here succeeded registering for the trial? If so, can they share any hints and tips?

Answer:W500 with built-in Vodafone mobile broadband

hifirstly you wont be long a proud owner of a W500, the machine sucks, standby for hassle with it, oh its already started!my online registration didnt work online, i had to go back to lenovo, and vodafone, in the end vodafone sent a new sim card through, and gave me a trial period based on being a new potential customer, rather than as part of the machine trial offer. i have signed up permanently now and it does work, though with the same signal problems as a phone experiences.rgds

I purchased a HP ENVY TouchSmart 14-k111nr Sleekbook that came with T-mobile Mobile Broadband for 2 years from the Microsoft Store two months ago. When I clicked 'Internet Access', there would be a 'Mobile Broadband' option for me to choose and select the T-mobile Mobile Broadband. Unfortunately, that has not been appearing since the last few days. I checked my hardware and it appears that there still is a 'Smart Card' but with no information regardin it. I also checked the HP Support Assistant and HP Utility Center but they had nothing. I have tried removing the card and placing it back again. The computer emits the sound that recognizes new hardware but no installater comes up Searching forums, I tried downloading the HP Connection Manager, but it failed to install when an error message ' NO WWAN' came up I also downloaded and reinstalled the latest Mobile Broadband Drivers but nothing happened. In fact, I suspect that it maybe the new updated drivers that caused my T-mobile SIM card to be disabled. I have tried calling HP support but they cannot help and demand payment for 'advanced tech support' when my Laptop is still under Warranty. I tried calling T-mobile, but they said that it was a problem that I needed to contact HP for. I contacted Microsoft that said I need to get in touch with T-mobile. The second call on HP, they told me to contact T-mobile, One big circle. TL;DR: I need the installer for my T-mobile SIM Card, mobile broadband... Read more

I payed full price for it from amazon, & I started a prepaid $30 monthy plan couldn't get coverage at home, so I had service less than 30 days did not purchase another monthly plan

Answer:How can I tell if my Nokia 521 is locked to T-Mobile or not?

I think your phone is locked, because paying full price doesnt unlock the phone. You have to request an unlock code from T-mobile to get it unlocked. If you want to check if your phone is unlocked or not, there are two ways to do it:
1. If you have an at&t sim lying around, put that in the phone. If it says invalid sim, your phone is locked.
2. Enter ##7820# on the phone dialer. If you see an open lock, your phone is unlocked, othewise it is locked.

I am on T-Mobile in the U.S., and I use Wi-Fi calling and texting a lot on my Lumia 925. I believe T-Mobile has specific firmware to enable this feature. I would like to upgrade to a 950 or 950XL, but if T-Mobile does not sell these phones, I would consider an unlocked 950, but I need the Wi-Fi Calling and texting feature. Can Windows 10 Mobile do Wi-Fi calling and texting without specific firmware from the carriers?

Question: Mobile Broadband

I have mobile broadband with 3. Today I tried to connect and did so successfully. However, when I check the connection to see my how my usage was going my 3 connection manager told me I was not connected? How can this be? I am connected to the internet via my USB 3 modem not wifi and am surfing the net.Can anyone help me understand this?

Answer:Mobile Broadband

When you install the 3 Mobile Broadband software, an entry is added in the Network Connections folder for a "Dial-up" connection. If you double click this, you will connect without having to use the Connection Manager, which may still show you as *NOT* connected, even though you are.Additionally, if the Mobile Broadband is set as your default connection and in "Control Panel > Internet Options > Connections" you have selected either...- Dial whenever a network connection is not present- Always dial my default connection...then as soon as you run a program that requires internet access (web browser, email etc), the Mobile Broadband will connect.

Answer:Mobile Broadband

You would not be able to use your 3 mobile Broadband abroad as difference country uses difference system via their mobile network, you will also need an account with the local broadband supplier Mobile roaming calls worldwide is difference than mobile broadband Most International telephone companies have an agreement between themselves that will allow you to use your local mobile phone on there local network and charge you roaming fees from 80% - 175% above the normal cost some also charge you both ways, for receiving a call or a text message and when you make a call

Question: Mobile broadband

Hi By default the Mobile broadband card in my X301 is turned off. Is it possible to turn in on by default when Windows start ups

Answer:Mobile broadband

It has to be mentioned as matter of disclaimer really since this forum is innundated with users who mistakenly believe they're x was GSM / CDMA equipped when they notice the SIM card slot under the battery. Most X's have the SIM slot but this seems standard regardless if the user configured or will have it installed. Assuming you spec'd your for the card and aren't being hopefully confused by spotting the slot....1. Check your BIOS setting to ensure the card is enabled2. check devmgmt.msc for the WiFi or "MobileBroadband" category since the category isn't standard and verify the card is properly installed and enabled / if it is then verify in the cards Advanced properties to ensure the OPERATING SYSTEM DOESN'T TURN OFF THE CARD TO SAVE POWER !!!! Still failing then contact tech support or reply with the rest of the story and whatever inordinary things you've done to this thing because the manufacturers and cellular providers along with Lenovo's group have worked extraordinarily hard to even COOPERATE IN DETERMINING CONFIGURATION AND RARE FOR  SO MANY THINGS TO COME TOGETHER SO WELL IN LAPTOP AS DO BROADBAND CARDS. The cards monthly subscription costs and cellular usage penalties has forced them to behave so cohesively when delivering the option since the type of person who buys a broadband card expects it to work and work out of the box. If you could take an official or even unofficial survey of what kind of hardware failure makes end users and prosum... Sorry if this is in the wrong forum.

I will be moving from the rented house I've been in for 21 months into a new house in the next couple of months. The house is a new-build and I will obviously not have broadband to start with - don't know if I'll have a phone line straightaway yet. I am trying to work out the best way to get online during this time.I am in the UK.

I went in to an O2 shop today and they were trying to sell me a dongle which cost £20 and then £2 a day, £7.50 for a week and £15 for a month. This would get over my immediate problem of geing broadband-lacking when I move but wasn't quite what I had in mind. I was thinking more of a dongle with x amount of Gbs (to be decided) which doesn't have clock running on it. So, after I've stopped needing it at the new house, I could take it out and about with me on my laptop whenever I wanted and when it ran out I'd top it up.

Does such a deal exist and, if so, what size in Gbs would be OK? We use aroung 10Gb per month on average but that's with the kids looking at YouTube, using iPlayer a bit so assume that just a bit of surfing would need less? Thanks for any help.

Answer:Mobile broadband Pay-as-you-go?

Hi,
I use '3' mobile broadband all over UK. £10 per month, 1gb which is plenty for an hour or so a day surfing plus emails.

I think in a new build you'll soon have utility providers beating a path to your door!!

Hi, I've a Lenovo S10-3 to which I've fitted an Ericsson F3607GW wwan card for Lenovo notebooks FRU: 60Y3237.  I bought the card from Hong Kong via Ebay.  I downloaded driver 83W013WW.exe from the Lenovo site and it allows me to connect in areas of 3G coverage. Unfortunately we don't have full 3G coverage in Australia and in my home region there is only a GSM signal and the card will not connect to it, although my old usb plug in modem works fine!  According to the Ericsson data sheet the F3607GW has the full range of frequency bands avilable - so it should work! I see that other drivers and the Ericsson broadband Manager are available and would welcome help in what drivers/broadband managers to use.  I have read on other forums that some other modems require the region to be set to '3' to allow proper working in Australia. I would welcome advice on which drivers/manager etc to use to get the card working properly in Australia. If anyone has experience with the GPS capability of this card I would like to learn how it was done - that's the next step after getting the wireless broadband function to work! Looking forward to some good advice! Rogerf

OK, I asked a question before and got one response...but not answers. This should be simple.1. I have been using the mobile broadband on my T410 for 3 years. It worked fine.2. I did a major windows update.3. Mobile broadband has gone. There is nothing! COmputer says there is no sim card. (there is a sim card and I reinserted it)4. FN F5 bring up no mobile broadband.5. I am paying my $30/ month and have had nothing for past 4 months!!! its killing me. 6.  It worked once for 3 years. Now it does not work. I tried reinstaling the software and it gets almost rhrough and says "There is no mobile sim card installed in this computer"!! Ugggh!!!!7. Lenovo support is useless. Even tho I only annoyed them one time with a problem in 3 years of service contract, my contract ended a couple months ago....so no help there....I have spoken to a dozen people and none have a clue what to do. Surely someone out there has seen or heard about this? My computer cannot be convinced that mobile broadband should be allowed to work!!   HELP!

I'm the person who responded before. Could anyone who has mobile broadband and who has kept all the various Microsoft and Lenovo updates current tell us that their WWAN is still working? It seems odd if Wombat and I both had a hardware failure at the same update time, but I suppose it could happen. PS My card is an Ericsson 3507

Hi Swathu,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

Are you sure that your model has been shipped with WWAN card from the factory?

If you have a WWAN card installed in your system, Lenovo Mobile Broadband Activation will guide you through the activation of mobile broadband. Also, install Think Vantage Access connections to handle various wireless profiles.

Hope this helps!

Best regards,
Mithun.

My friend and I have bought two Lenovo® ThinkPad® X230 laptops simultaneously. My laptop model is 23255CG and my friend?s laptop model is 65G. When the ?Access Connections? opens , my friend?s laptop has ?Mobile Broadband? option but mine doesn?t .As for the Hardware, my laptop also has a slot for the SIM Card and I put a SIM Card in this slot, but I do not know how can I activate it. How can I know, whether my laptop has a Mobile Broadband Modem or not? What should I do to set up this Modem?

Answer:Mobile Broadband

If you look in device manager under modems it should give you an idea of what WWAN card you and your friend has.

Question: mobile broadband

Hi I am using vodafone mobile broadband while on holiday. I am able to receive emails but am having a problem sending them. There is no error message it just times out. I have rebooted laptop but am getting nowhere - had the same problem a few weeks ago - the email i was sending just sat in my outbox until I got home. Any suggestions appreciated

Answer:mobile broadband

The general rule is that you must send mail using the SMTP server of the ISP with which you are connected to the internet. At the moment, that means using Vodafone's SMTP server. Your email program will almost certainly be configured to use the SMTP server of your home broadband provider, which won't work with the Vodafone connection.

Does anyone else use a mobile broadband stick that you just plug in to your USB port and away you go? I'm using one on the 3 network, its the second one I've had.And Does anyone know if companies such as AOL or BT plan to bring out versions as at the moment in the uk its only T-Mobile,3,Virgin,Vodafone and Orange who offer them, and usage is quite expensive typically ?10 1Gb,?15 3Gb and ?25 7Gb.I'm using 7Gb a month and I'm not downloading very much

o2 are are advertising it,but its just a 3G i-phone on pay as you go for ?350 i could buy a laptop for that!! At the moment Vodafone offer the fastest speed 7.2mbps the other all around 3mbps.

Question: 3 mobile broadband

Please help! I have 3 connect mobile broadband (dongle). I connected it ages ago and it installed and worked fine. Then I uninstalled it. Now when I put the dongle into the USB port, it won't auto install. It says that it cannot be installed properly. (it does, however, work on other computers). I phones 3 connect support and they were uselss. When I looked into device manager, and click on the icon (which has a ! on it) it says:
Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19).

It wont auto load and im getting pretty fed up. Please can anyone help. I am thinking I must have deleted some drivers, but when i select 'update driver' it says that my drivers are fully updated.

Answer:S12 Mobile broadband

Hi and welcome there.. i heard not about the first time this question.. Al what i can say is the best compatible WWAN card is the SE F3507  ...and not all cards will work overall (different / newer Card-Firmware) even when you buy a Lenovo card (used by some thinkpads/S10 with 3G/S10-2 with 3G)
second is more difficult have to disassemble your Ideapad ... you need to install a antenna in LCD frame (loose warranty)...
and the third barrier is under windows till now not correct working scenario (even with the actual drivers) ...
Hints for try out upgrading/opening S12  here in this part of forum ... same for tryout upgrading wwan card...

Hi,I was wondering whether my R50 laptop can support mobile broadband. I have tried to insert a Three dongle but nothing happens. The laptop has recently had a major problem and the software has been returned to factory settings a number of times. So I don't know whether a driver is required and it has not been put back on or whether the laptop is just too old? Thanks Extin

Answer:R50 - mobile broadband?

hey extin, welcome to the forums.hard for me to say if a driver is needed or not. The unit of yours, is it running on XP on Win7 ?If it is on XP, a high chance you may need a driver. I would then suggest that you get in contact with the mobile broadband vendor and check with them.

Did you configure it with the Gobi 3000 card? If you did call Lenovo and they should send you out the missing SIM card. Hit Fn+F5 and check for the Wireless WAN option in there.

Answer:Mobile Broadband

If you didn't fit mobile broadband card yourself you havn't that card in your laptop from the factory. It's wwan ready only, i.e.has internal wwan antennas and sim card holder. If you'll decide to buy and insert wwan card you have not to download and launch application from Lenovo site "Mobile Broadband". It's for simless CDMA/EV-DO networks only.

Question: mobile broadband

Hi all, i am a first time user to having a laptop, i want to get broadband for it and it to be pay as you go, what do you suggest. also someone told me a can connect it to my desktop broadband, how would i be able to do this if so it wouldn't be mobile would it?. i'm with virgin with my desktop computer.

Answer:mobile broadband

Hi and welcome to the forums.

I assume you live in the UK like me so I think I can help.

I use 3 mobile broadband which in my opinion is the best of the PAYG tariffs. You can buy a dongle which is the expensive bit or if you have an unlocked 3G phone which allows tethering you can use that if you know how to set it up.
You get 150MB of free data when you top up (minimum ?5 in store, ?10 online) plus it also works as a phone if you want it to.
This 150MB of data lasts 90 days or until you use it all up.
This means it works out you spend ?1.66 for 50MB of data every month, which if you have static broadband at your home should be enough. If you ever use more than this just top up more regularly.

For more info (and probably a much clearer explanation visit 3 - Pay As You Go - SIM Only - Free stuff - Free stuff with every top-up)

I don't know too much about Virgin medias mobile broadband but a good place to start would be here Mobile Broadband - Broadband - Virgin Media

Hope this helps, Oli.

EDIT: After reading your post more carefully, it sound like your do not have your Internet connection going into a Wireless router and then to your laptop and desktop.

This suggests to me that your Virgin Contract may be quite old as all new tariffs include a free Wireless router and setup, not to mention less to pay per month (I went down this road with BT, tripled my connection speed, got a load of free stuff and I now pay ?10 less per month.)

Question: Mobile Broadband

Hi,Slightly hijacking the thread...I too live in a rural area (Ewelme in Oxfordshire). Our problem is that the exchange is the other side of the Thames and the Council will not let BT place more cabling over the bridge or under the Thames - so some users have Broadband others do not (only at 1mbps).Mobile signal is atrocious indoors, can barely get a signal and 3G is non-existant. However, outside and a few yards down the drive 3G kicks in.Therefore my question is: Is it possible to get a High Gain aerial and have that connect to the 3G dongle to access a better signal inside the house? If so, does anyone know how, and which equipment is required?I work in Kent and really would like to be able to work from home occasionally to avoid the 200 mile round trip every day to the office.ThanksJ

Answer:Mobile Broadband

Don't think there is any way you are going to get it, until Gov makes a move on all UK being able to get BB. This they are wanting to do. And charge everybody for the extra installation. About £6 to £8 a year. One of the things they are doing is laying Fiber Optics in Sewer Pipes

Question: Mobile broadband

I bought a Lenono Thinkpad Edge E530c and would like to use the internal 3G mobile connecting. I inserted my sim into the sim slot under the batery compartment but its not working.  It looks like the drivers are missing. When I start the Mobile connection app it give me "No Wireless Mobile Broadband device found." When I go look in the device manager I cant see any modems installed. So how do I make use of the 3G sim slot to connect to the internet? I also downloaded some bluetooth / modem drivers for my series but nothing seems to work. Please help.

Answer:Mobile broadband

Hi,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

To activate WWAN in your Lenovo ThinkPad E530c, first you have to ensure that you have a WWAN card and WWAN antennas installed. WWAN upgradable models have the WWAN antennas installed from the factory these will be red and blue wires (the Wi-Fi are typically white, black and grey or just black and grey depending on model). If you have WWAN antennas installed from the factory, probably you need to purchase a compatible WWAN card and install it. If you have a WWAN card installed in your system, install Lenovo Mobile Broadband Activation which will guide you through the activation of mobile broadband.

Go to Lenovo Support site, enter MTM number of your device in quick path and get the system specifications. If you find any difficulties, please share the MTM of your device.

Hope this helps!

Best regards,
Mithun.

Hello Everyone,
I am unable to install word mobile on my Lumia 640 XL LTE running on windows 10 mobile. I had actually installed this app (word) already but the had to change my memory card. After inserting my new memory card, i am able to re-install almost all of my apps except for WORD mobile.
I keep getting this error - Couldn't install. We'll try again later - The error code is 0x80073CF6. Please note, excel app was also throwing the same error but upon trying 3-4 times, it got installed. But, word is not installing at all - have tried installing at least a 100 times. I know a hard reset would solve this problem for me but I am not ready for that yet! Thanks!

I have a problem with Build 10512 on my Lumia 930. I switched to this bulid last weekend and did a reset by going to setting --> system --> about. Afterwards I didn't restore any data and started from scratch. Installed some apps and deleted some as well. Two days ago I got the message from my carrier, that I just used all my mobile data for this month. Due to the fact, that I was using WIFI during most of the time when I was using the phone I was very suppriesed. So I went to data sense and noticed that there was an entry "unistalled app" which had a high data usage. As I was looking at data sense during the day I just noticed, that the amount of data was growing.
Because I didn't know which apps this could be I did another reseted yesterday by doing the same steps mentioned above. This time I started from scratch again but didn't deleted any app. However today I again find the entry "uninstalled app" in data sense, which again is still unsing data (about 100 MB during the day, no WIFI). Has anybody an idea what this is and how I can stop this?

Answer:I uninstalled app mobile data usage Mobile Preview Build 10512 Lumia 930

I just noticed that too in my Data-sense. It has only used 116 Mb in about a week though, so I'm not too concerned about it yet.
Time to add some feedback :)

I just learned that this is even remotely possible, so I would like to make it work. I'm on a Lumia 950XL (not Insider) and would love for the Mobile hotspot to automatically turn on when my phone connects to my car via Bluetooth. I want it to turn on because I have an iPod Touch in the car (that is always connected via USB to the car) for music playback. I would like that iPod Touch to be able to stream Spotify and use my 950XL's hotspot for the Internet connection. Is this possible?
- My car does not have Bluetooth music streaming, so this is why I have to depend on the iPod because my car does have iPod integration (ugh)

My question is can i use the phone without inserting a Sim Card (i don't want to use calling and messaging that require a sim card) ''''' i live in Kosovo and T-mobile is not avaliable in Kosovo
I asked the buyer but he is not understanding my question !!!
If i can use the phone without sim card then if i update or hard reset my phone*(Lumia 521) will it ask to insert a sim card or type any unlock code!!!

Answer:Can i use a Lumia 521 T-Mobile Network Locked without a SIM-Card

When it boots it will advise that no SIM is in and you can dismiss the message, then use it on WiFi or without data connection all you want. No unlock code is needed for SIMless use.
IMHO, it is still a great toy to have. It basically is the same as the 520 inside. You may like this old thread: Project: Five2Oh

Hi guys
Just signed up with Blink Mobile Wireless Broadband and am enjoying better browsing after years of speeds of 40K avg optusnet dial-up.

Questions:

1. What is my options concerning accessing newsgroups (Usenet) as my Forte Agent now doesn't work since changing over?.

2. E-mail access via my outlook, do I delete the dial-up optusnet mail account now, and if so what do I setup as the email acct to download mail to my hard drive & program I use for e-mail?.

3. Does anyone know if this provider or one's offering the same service, does use a part of your data limit while you are on-line but now browsing (I get up and have dinner leaving connect open)?.

4. Now it's up and running, do I simply delete all references to my former Optusnet dial-up (Connection, I.E Settings, ete)

Any other tips or advice most thankful for as the site I went to, had not that much to really educate a newbie to WBB.

Cheers

Has anyone experienced problems with e mail page layouts when using Vodafone or T mobile dongles.I thought the problem was a new layout on my talktalk e mail page, but it seems to be only when I am working away from home & I use one of the mobile dongles. I have had the issue checked out with talktalk & it is not the talktalk e mail that's causing me to see a completely different layout than when I access e mail via my modem at home. The layout when using a mobile dongle is very basic & does not allow me to alter fonts, underline, do italics or even attachments etc. Very strange & frustrating & only started happening last Friday.Regards, CGM.

I am trying to connect a new Dell Latitude laptop with a Dell 5720 VZW (EVDO Rev-A) mobile card to our network using the sonicwall GVC. Any interface other than the VZW card such as WIFI or ethernet cable work fine when connecting and mapping drives over the internet using GVC. I have Netbios enabled on our VPN so I don't believe that is the problem. Numerous calls to Sonicwall support have left me with nothing. Any suggestions would be VERY appreciated. I installed the GOBI WAN card, it's recognized and functioning within Win7.  Activated at Verizon.  Problem is in trying to activate on x220.  When I try to connect, it asks if I want to activate.  When I click okay, it tells me that I need to install "Mobile Broadband Connection". Can anyone help me here?  What is this software?  Is it Lenovo - Verizon had no idea. Thanks!

Answer:Help with mobile broadband - x220

Just over 2 months ago I purchased a 12 GB pay as you go deal with 3. For less than £100 it is a great deal. I only use the facility at work and over the 2 months it has become invaluable. However, I am now having problems and finding it impossible to get internet access for more than the odd few minutes. Having talked to a few other 3 users it would seem they are having the exact same problem, after 2 months of using the service without problem it comes to a sudden and almost total stop. One purchased their 12 gig deal in early Dec 2008 the other at the end of Dec 2008 and me in early 2009. In each situation after 2 months and a few days we have all started to encounter problems. The icing on the cake here is that the first of the above to purchase believed they had used their 12 gig credit and so topped up by £10 and got perfect access again for a few weeks ? I add here that they had not used up their allocation and that in fact they had only used 1.5 gigs.Has anyone else heard of this problem? If it is 3 limiting people after a few months that is outrageous and surely must be illegal? If not it is certainly immoral and should be given a nationally huge publicity push. As I said this facility had become invaluable to me and I now feel like I have lost one of my arms now at work.

I recently signed up to an Orange mobile broadband contract with 3GB monthly allowance. The software comes with a window which includes Statistics. This gives daily, monthly and yearly usage since the date the contract started. However I am not 100% sure if this gives me the info I need to see how my monthly Orange allowance is going.I phoned Orange helpline and they couldn't tell me as perhaps I have not been uploaded to their system yet. As far as they are concerned I havn't used anything! She said I would get half a month for the first month since I started on 17th Jan. She suggested using Net Traffic Meter. I checked this out but found negative reviews and wasn't sure anyway if it would provide anything extra than what I already have with the Orange Mobile Partner.Anyone any thoughts?thanks!

Answer:mobile broadband monitoring

You could try NetMeter click here not the same as Net Traffic Meter, it's supposed to be pretty good, although I haven't used it in quite a while.

I have had a contract with Orange for mobile broadband for about a year. The best download speed I get is a paltry 6.5Kbs where I live(middle of the country on a farm). Yesterday I was in Oxford, a decent sized city, and still I only got 6.5Kbs. Is this terrible speed compatible with the terms of the contract from a supplier such as Orange or should I be getting a better service for £15 per month? Thanks

I have an X1 Carbon laptop and I have been using a local SIM card for the Mobile Broadband.  It detects the SIM and connects fine - my issue is the network seems to drop out after about 2 minutes then turn back on after 30 seconds repetitively. By drop out I mean in the network connection I loose the option of connecting to "Mobile Broadband", and just see "Airplane mode" and "Wifi", and the when it reconnects it shows the "Mobile Broadband" option, then goes to no service, then it turns on and connects to the SIM card.     I've tried switching SIM cards and moving to a new mobile broadband supplier - but the issue appears to be with the laptop. I've tried removing the SIM card completely to see if the option for "Mobile Broadband" continues to disappear but it doesn't appear to do so. Anyone have any ideas on what I can do to try and fix this?

Answer:Mobile Broadband disconnecting

Greetings!  I purchased a Thinkpad X201 (running Windows 7 64-bit) withBluetooth   (Bluetooth w/ antenna),  Integrated WiFi wireless LAN adapters   (Intel Centrino Advanced-N + WiMAX 6250),  Integrated mobile broadband   (Integrated Mobile Broadband (Gobi 2000 3G with GPS) ), and  Selectable SIM   (SIM Card: USA ) and I selected Verizon Mobile Broadband.  However, the SMS option on the Tools tab of Access Connections is gryyed out and, per Access Connections Help, "If the laptop does not have sim card, SMS Message box will be greyed out and cannot be used."  Since my laptop is suppose to have a SIM card, I should have SMS functionality/access.  I inquired at Lenovo but did not obtain any help (Owen did not seem to know what was going on at all!).  Verizon wants me to download their VZAccess Manager for SMS.  However, since I have a SIM card and the SMS functionality of Access Connections, I should not need to do so.  Can anyone direct me to the information that I need so that the SMS Message Box will no longer be greyed out and I will be able to send text messages? I had searched for this topic on this forum and found a posting stating that SMS could be enabled by left-click the Mobile Broadband icon on the Tools tab.  However, when I left-click or right-click this icon, the only options are for (i) Account information and Activation and (ii) Data Usage. Any help that you ... Answer:Slow 3 mobile broadband

The PC Advisor result is abysmal but the Speedtest.net result at 651kbps is not that different from the speed I often get for download. Upload though is very poor. (I'm also using the 3G network).Try click here - just now, this has given me 480kbps Download and 114kbps Upload.

Hi. I have just bought an X121e which comes with "integrated mobile broadband" . I cannot set this up. The manual states that there is a button in Lenovo think vantage tools but none appears. I have tried using the Internet connections/access connections button but the access connections screen has the mobile broadband button greyed out. Tried downloading new drivers but they all refer to WAN broadband cards (which are not fitted to my machine).  Any ideas gratefully rec'd thanks.

Answer:x121e mobile broadband

hey ditton01,when you go to Device Manager and look at the integrated mobile broadband, was the brand attached to it ?anyway, try removing Access Connection and use Windows built-in connection wizard.

My wife and I have just started using the 3 Mobile broadband service with the dongle that plugs into a USB port and requires no other connection to latch onto a broadband connection. If we want to run this on more than one computer we are currently unplugging it from the one to plug it into another. Both computers have wireless. Do we need a router to allow both simultaneous access to the connection? If so is there a particular kind of router required? There is no RJ45 connector from the dongle. Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi I got a SL500 and I'm using a SIM from Fullrate, which works ok (although when you push "activate" in the wwan it says my ISP isn't supported?? yet i can connect, no problem). But then I have to connect to a VPN at my University in order to use some software licenses, this works well.. for 10 minutes, then the wwan connection is lost and I can't reconnect. Used vista repair functions, ipconfig /release/renew nothing works except a reboot. Help me! I'm getting really frustrated...
