X120e update BIOS failed "Driver Loading Failed. The Utility cannot proceed"

Question: X120e update BIOS failed "Driver Loading Failed. The Utility cannot proceed"

I was tried to update Bios to 1.12 but not successed..It always came out this message " Driver Loading Failed. The Utility cannot proceed."..I tried to update under safe mode, still not work..I tried to use Winflash, it came out "Cannot open new BIOS file"..There's only one method that I didn't try is that burn a ISO CD and connect to External CDROM.. but I don't have External CDROM..The reason that I update Bios is that I want to install Toolbox; otherwise, I won't take this risk..For futhermore information click following link..http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkVantage-Technologies/This-version-of-Lenovo-ThinkVantage-Toolboox-i...

Preferred Solution: X120e update BIOS failed "Driver Loading Failed. The Utility cannot proceed"

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: X120e update BIOS failed "Driver Loading Failed. The Utility cannot proceed"

Sounds like something wonky with your Windows install. I'd avoid doing a BIOS update through such an install.

Hi, i ave an E320 (1298-5QG, i.e. w/out preloaded OS) with a manually installed Win 7/64bit. BIOS version oi 1.11, every time i try to update the BIOS with BIOS setup utility from System Update i get the error message Driver Loading failed. What can i do to update the BIOS other than by getting en external optical drive to boot from and setup the BIOS from there?

Answer:E320 BIOS Update not working "Driver Loading failed"

hey elmarjason,if i'm not mistaken the bootable bios CD is in an .ISO format . what you could do is this and do note that this is a suggestion and not an official method from Lenovo.download the ISO file .get this software >> http://www.pendrivelinux.com/universal-usb-installer-easy-as-1-2-3/use the above software to make a USB memory stick to become bootable.set your unit's bios to boot from USB and in theory; you should be able to load the bios for installation.

Hi, I was trying to update the BIOS of my x120e (0596-2RU) from within Windows 7, it got stuck (no progress for more than half an hour), now the notebook is bricked (the screen won't turn on; there's no beeps, just the fan is turned on). I believe I followed all the instructions (battery fully charged etc.), but the Customer Support here in Ireland says failed BIOS updates are not covered by warranty (contrary to what some people on these forums say). What are my options now?  Thanks a lot!

Answer:bricked x120e -- failed BIOS update

rufus82, welcome to the forum,

I would suggest that you contact support again and again request a fix under warranty, if again you receive no satisfaction you should then simply state that you are not satisfied and wish to register a complaint, the CSR will be able to do this for you.

Please ensure that you note the name of the CSR you speak to and also request a call number, the call number will possibly be of help at a later date.

Updating the BIOS through the Lenovo System Update software in Windows 7, hung at "Programming BIOS region" for a couple of hours, now won't boot at all (blank screen, fan, nothing else). Obviously an X120e is out of warranty (or this one is at least), is there anything to be done for this? I'd rather not go back to the owner and say "Lenovo's software updates killed your hardware, but they'll be happy to sell you a new laptop" because I'm pretty sure it won't be a Lenovo in that case.

Answer:x120e BIOS update failed - any remedy?

Try to reset BIOS and Embedded Controller:unplug AC adapter and battery, press and hold during 30-40 seconds the power button, release it, plug battery and AC adapter, try to boot up.

I just restored my x61 to original settings due to a problem with blue screens, and decided to update the BIOS right afterwards.  I followed the directions precisely and it installed all 21 of the individual components for this model.  I then shut down the computer and turned it back on this morning to continue loading software.  The system started with the fan running at high speed and stopped at the ThinkPad Screen.  However, nothing happened after pressing the ThinkVantage button and F1 or any other button for that matter.  I left it for a couple hours, but finally determined that I could not turn it off or do anything with the machine.  It just hung there.  I did finally remove the battery and replace it, and now there is no power registering when the machine is plugged in and it won't start. Is there something I can do to recover the system?  I suspect the answer is a board replacement.  The BIOS update failed in conjunction with something on my computer.  I am just 2 years into the warranty period in the US, so if I need to replace the board, what are the best options? Thanks for your help and comments....this is a very frustrating turn of events, since it is my work machine.

Hello everyone,
Personally, I don't know much about the hardware of a computer and need help understanding it. Almost half a year ago, my PC crashed for no apparent reason and I kept getting g BSoDS. I had no idea of what happened or why. I finally found an alternative solution; to reinstall Windows. However, I noticed that every 3 weeks or so, it would once again crash, and I had to repeat the entire process several times.

I have identified and removed the failing HDD, but I now need help proceeding so that my computer can run with only 1 HDD. I have switched the SATA controller from RAID to AHCI, but I have to face yet another problem.

Currently, I have gotten to Windows installation screen, but it asks for device drivers needed to access the hard drive, but the problem is, I don't know where to find them. I believe my motherboard is Intel X58 Chipset, and I have looked around, but I don't understand which driver to use. If anyone could guide me, it would be much appreciated

TL: DR: I have 2 HDDs, of which 1 failed and I need device drivers that can access the HDD. I have an Intel X58 Chipset motherboard.

Thank you very much in advance.

I have 2 hard drives in a RAID 2 (span) set up, and one of them finally bit the dust. It was a Maxtor that failed, the other is a WD. They are both 120GB drives. Now, mind you, I knew this was coming, as the drives had been exhibiting erratic behavior for some time now, and refused to be defragmented. I have backed up most of my important stuff, so I have chosen to format the WD drive (the one that is still good, I checked both with the tool on the Maxtor site), and just use that one drive by itself. Now how would I go about doing this? Would I simply unplug the Maxtor and leave the WD by itself, and install windows on it (after formatting it)? What about the RAID, will I have to get rid of it somehow, IE: is it implanted into the mobo itself? Sorry for all the questions, and I am typing from a different computer (obviously I guess) so I can still provide feedback during the harddrive changing process.

I am running Windows XP home.

I have a IBM Lenovo Thinkpad Edge E320, it has a manual install of Windows 7 Home Premium. All the official Lenovo drivers and software have been installed correctly. I am using the application Lenovo System Update. It is downloading and installing the application "Thinkpad BIOS Update Utility -US-" It downloads OK, and then gives me a dialog box asking if I want to either "Update the Model Number" or "Update the BIOS". I select the option to "Update the BIOS" and I get given the following message ... "Driver loading failed. The Utility cannot proceed." You then get the option to click on "OK" and the whole thing closes. Could anyone please suggest a fix for this, ideally a legitimate way of doing it rather than a weird quick fix. But if there is no other alternative then it might have to be a weird quick fix.  I have tried Google-ing the problem and looking at various sites and forums, but no-one really seems to know the answer to the problem.  Any help or guidance would be really appreciated! So thank-you very much in advanced!!

Answer:Thinkpad Edge E320 - Driver Loading Failed

Good day and welcome to the community.

You can find the available BIOS updates in your Driver Matrix. There is a choice of an updater that operates from within Windows and there is a bootable CD image. I prefer the latter method.

Is there a specific issue you are trying to resolve, or a new feature you need, by updating the BIOS?

Btw: latest bios version installed and other computers do have options for acpi in the power section. Or maybe the ThinkPad Power Management Driver blocks it?

I guess the best thing to do is give you a short summary of the situation. My daughter is finally old enough to have her own computer, so I took my old desktop (the one that I was using about a year and a half ago) out of the closet and set it up in her room. When I tried to add her to the network it didn't work. I hooked the cable to the port in the back of the tower, and hooked the other end into the router, and nothing happened. I tried hooking it into the network by putting in the network name as it told me to do on the Windows website, nothing happened. Finally I tried to use the Repair button, and it tells me "Failed to query TCP/IP setting of the connection. Cannot proceed." So that didn't work either. It says that it's connected on her computer, but it also shows that nothing has been sent or received. I don't understand. I'm not good with a lot of the technological terms when it comes to computers, so a solution that works and is given in computer dumb terms is what I'm looking for. Please help! :banghead

Answer:Failed to query TCP/IP settings of the connection. Cannot proceed.

What version of Windows is the old desktop running?
- you can check them by right-clicking on my computer and selecting properties.

The first thing I would do is to check the network card itself on the computer. There should be two lights, I think this kind of varies from network card to network card but sometimes one of those lights is a data link connection (meaning your computer is connected to a router or switch on the other end of the network cable) you could check to see if there are any lights (solid or blinking).

The second thing I would check is your network adapter settings, it may not be configured to obtain an ip address automatically.
(this requires the router to be configured as a DHCP server which is typically the default setting for most routers.)

[Windows XP]
- Start > Control Panel or Start > Settings > Control Panel
- Network and Internet Connections or Network Connections
- Network Connections (only if Network and Internet Connections was used in the last step)
- You should see a network adapter typically called "Local Area Network". Right-click on the network adapter and select properties.
- In the list of items you should see one called "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" select it and then click the properties button.
- Ensure Obtain an Ip address automatically is selected and that Obtain DNS server address automatically is also selected.
- Click OK then click OK again (one for each window)

[Windows 7]
- Start... Read more

What started as a crippling annoyance has escalated out of control. Windows auto updater, the bane of my existence, downloaded a patch and forced my computer to restart. Somewhere during that process, my laptop ran out of power and died, and upon rebooting, would load to configuring update, only to proceed to configuring failed, revoking changes or something to that effect. It would hang there for as long as I was patient to wait for it, which was a good half an hour. I proceeded to do shut it down and attempt a system repair, which apparently was successful, but I still had the same problem. I then went to system backup, only to find to my immense concern that there wasn't a restore point at all (which is unusual because the last time I did a system restore, I had several) I then proceeded to attempt multiple means to fix things, with only running in safe mode with networking to allow me to log in. Eventually it offered to run a CHKDSK scan, which apparently found and cleaned a metric ton of files in a variety of manners, but now it won't load at all. Trying to boot it in any mode causes the laptop to hang indefinitely on the windows logo, attempting to repair the operating system with the installation disk merely causes it to search endlessly for an operating system to repair, despite having found one flawlessly before the CHKDSK scan - I'm now attempting to run a startup repair with the F8 menu, but it is currently searching endlessly for problems.

I recently reloaded Windows XP professional onto my computer because I could not get Windows to boot. After doing this, I cannot get onto the internet with that computer. And the error message I get is:

"Failed to query TCP/IP settings of the connection. Cannot proceed."

I attempted to try the solution in an earlier post from this website (http://forums.techguy.org/networking/687933-failed-query-tcp-ip-settings.html) , but it didn't seem to work. When I tried the command prompt "ipconfig /all" the result read:

but that was it no more lines of information after that.
I downloaded the file from the suggested website. Installed it, performed the next two command lines and still no results.

Thanks for any help.

I installed the latest round of Windows updates for my Win7 x64 install and it never completed (ran for about 24 hours) so I powered off the machine. Upon restarting, it said:

Code:
"Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause" and has instructions for using system repair, then at the bottom:

File: \Boot\BCD

Info: An error occurred while attempting to read the boot configuration data
So I booted off a Windows recovery disk and figured Startup Repair would fix it. Alas, after it says "Windows found problems with your computer's startup options" and asks me if I want to repair, I click "repair and restart" and it says "Failed to save startup options".

Code:
The "repair details" are:

The following options will be added:
Name: Windows Recovery Environment (recovered)
Path: Recovery\...\Winre.wim
Windows Device: Partition=D:
I've tried running Startup Repair from the manual options screen and it says it cannot repair automatically. I have two partitions, the 100MB windows System partition, which Recovery Console mounts as C:\ and my main windows partition, which it mounts as D: and I can see all of my files on it.

I wondering what Crisis Recovery Disk do you have ?:|
In my experience the special disk is needed which is available only for ASP technician.
Therefore it?s necessary to contact the ASP in your country in order to reflash the BIOS.

In my opinion you shouldn?t not try any ?Crisis Recovery disks? which you fond in the net? this can lead to mobo damage?

Whilst updating the BIOS the system froze at step 7 of replacing the BIOS code, needless to say the laptop will not boot as the BIOS is now corrupt.

I have the BIOS.BAK but need advice on how to restore the BIOS. I copied the BIOS.BAK to a usb stick and plugged this into the laptop and then powered on the system (I've tried holding down F, F2 and together). I can see that the usb stick flickers initially but clearly does not progress with the restore.

I hope someone might be able to advise how to use the BIOS.BAK file to restore the BIOS.

Answer:Many failed update on history windows failed to configure startup

Hello smeraldan and welcome to Seven Forums.

My usual disclaimer: I'm not an expert at anything. Sometimes malware can prevent Windows Updates from installing. Run a full scan with your personal anti-malware suite. Then use the free Malwarebytes to run another full scan. (No anti-malware product is 100% effective 100% of the time. If there was such a thing we'd all be using it.)

Malwarebytes

Another possible problem is if system files became damaged or corrupt. I'd run a system file checker scan from an elevated command prompt (option two.) If problems are found run the scan 3 times rebooting in between each scan.

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

You could also try running the System Update Readiness Tool if you haven't already done so.

System Update Readiness Tool fixes Windows Update errors in Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008 R2, and Windows Server 2008

Try installing the updates again, but this time just do a few at a time (maybe only 5 or so.) Keep track of the KB numbers. Start with the critical updates, then the important, and save the optional for last. If a group of 5 installs OK go on to the next group. If any group fails to install you'll know which group to uninstall. Try installing just one update at a time. If they install OK go on to the next group. Otherwise just ignore the problem update(s) for the time being and continue installing in groups of 5.

What was your BIOS version before the flashing? (BIOS version compatibility)

If it was a 1.x version you can only flash with another 1.x version, if it was a 2.x version you can only flash with another 2.x version.
If your system shipped with Windows 7 and you upgraded to Windows 8 you cannot use the ones marked "Not for Ugrades"

If you are unable to reflash you will need to contact the Acer Technical Support in your area for options.

Maybe someone knows the key combination or a way to recover bios(except for replacing the mainboard, i would rather buy a new laptop). I have also read that maybe it would be possible to boot if there is a boot block jumper sethttp://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-45385.htmlbut this is for desktop Lenovos only, i wonder if there is a boot block jumper on the r60 mainboard somewhere???  Regards,Thomas

Answer:Bios Update failed (R60)

heizi, welcome to the forum, there is unfortunately no boot block recovery for ThinkPads. Your best bet is to contact support on 01805 004618. Please let us know how you get on.

Question: Failed Bios Update

Hey all,Fuji Amilo pi1536 laptop with a Phoenix bios. Was updating bios yesterday and it got to erasing block 14/17 and it just powered off. (windows based flash, with the bios update recommended on the fuji site for my lappy)Now when pressed on the power, caps, number lock, scroll lock and hdd activity lights come up and last for about 3 seconds before the laptop switches off and turns back on and repeats the cycle again and again until ac power and or battery is removed. Is this normal for a failed bios update as this is my first!!!! :(Have tried the phoenix crisis recovery floppy and it just starts to read the floopy before turning off.Fuji say i have to replace my mobo and i have been mega unfortunate that something has gone wrong during a flash, but surely if the mobo was dead it wouldnt power up?Get no display, no beeps no post nothing but do get power!!Anybody had a failed bios update and can tell me if this behaviour is normal? Many thanks

Answer:Failed Bios Update

That's why a BIOS flash is always a last resort a failed flash results in a scrap motherboard.Remove all power from laptop, AC, battery pack and CMOS battery.Hold power button for 30 seconds to get rid of static and discharge all capacitors.USE CMOS clera jumper if available on your bord see manual.Reconnect CMOS battery and mains and try to run the crisis floppy again.

I just recently updated my BIOS for ECS-G33T-M2 motherboard. I got the update from the ECS website itself but now everytime I restart my computer, it tells me Bad CMOS, CHECKSUM error, press F1. I go and fix the time and date, afterwards I save it and exit, computer resets, same dilema, Bad CMOS, CHECKSUM error, try it again, same thing. The only way for me to get to windows is if i exit without saving, but then my time is always off, and its fairly annoying to constantly keep fixing it. Help anyone?

Answer:BIOS UPDATE, failed?

Go back to the old BIOS. If your PC is working all right, there is no reason to update the BIOS. GOOD LUCK

I updated the latest BIOS for Lenovo T61, it completed fine and update program asked to restart the system. So I did, but all I got was blank screen and when nothing. I waited about 5 minutes and after that I switched the laptop off and tried to turn power on but now it doesn't power up at all. The laptop is totally dead. Is there any hardware kind of reset in these that I can try or is the only option to send it to service?

On several occasions HP Support Assistant has notified a BIOS upgrade available.  All have churned for a while, then reported that the update was unsuccesfull. I find this alarming to say the least, as BIOS updates are both critical, and potentially disastrous. Can you tell me why you keep on submitting updates that do not work? Should I bother to keep on trying to install them, or just consign them directly to the trash bin? This is a relatively new (this year) PC, and I find this severely undermines my confidence in the technical abilities of HP as a hardware provider. Windows 10ADSL then Ethernet cable (not wifi)18Meg down/1Meg upOS and Drivers kept up to date

Question: Failed BIOS update

I downloaded the latest BIOS update (version 3.09-1.03 released 2009/10/6) and burned it to a CD as an ISO since I'm running an x64 system. Rebooted and the BIOS utility started up. It beeped two times in the middle of the update, which I knew was a bad sign, but then displayed a message saying it had finished anyway. A window showed up saying to go ahead and remove the CD and reboot, which it won't do now. All I get now when I try to turn it on is the AC plug light and circled Z light. Hd spins for like 1 second, screen doesn't come on at all. Guess I have to send it in, right? Hate that it's messed up for now though since I can't send it in for another 2 months or so and I really needed it right now.

Answer:Failed BIOS update

Maybe you need to load default configuration, as instructed in the readme file, shown below: INITIALIZING BIOS  BIOS Initialization is suggested for some problems. To initialize the BIOS  settings:  1. Turn off the computer.  2. Turn on the computer.  3. While the "To interrupt normal startup, press the blue ThinkVantage button"     message is displayed at the lower-left area of the screen, press the F1 key.     The BIOS Setup Utility menu will be displayed. If a password prompt appears,     type the correct password.  4. Press the F9 key to load default configuration.  5. Select Yes.  6. Press the F10 key to save default configuration and exit.  7. Select Yes.  8. Restart the computer.  Note:  After initialization you may need to reapply some settings that you had  changed previously.

Hello,I was updating my BIOS today on my T61 and everything went fine and I was asked to reboot.  But when I rebooted all I heard was 2 short beeps and nothing else.  Now the laptop won't boot at all and the screen stays blank.  I think the BIOS was not updated properly.  I have been checking out the boot block jumper posts but they seem to be only for NetVista or ThinkCentre.  Is there any way of recovering from this condition on the T61?  Thank you.

Answer:BIOS update failed!

This is very bad news. You might of and most likely messed up your BIOS. You might need to buy a new motherboard which is very expensive. I'm not 100% sure though. According to what you described I think that is the problem.

Question: BIOS Update Failed

Hey Guys, New to the board, and of course it would be with a problem. So long story short, I was trying to upgrade my W500 BIOS using the 32bit exe (Using Windows 7) and it started out just fine. Then somewhere in the middle of the installation, my machine started to freak and not respond. Now, at this point, i'm extremely worried. My hard drive light is consistently blinking like its being accessed, but nearly 40+ minutes went by, and absolutley no progress.  Now, I was pretty scared but turned off the machine knowing my system has failed. As I suspected, when I turned on the machine, there is absolutely no video on the screen, and I got a constant 1 long beep followed by 2 beeps and that loops until it annoys me and I turn it of. So my question is.. Is there anything I can do at this point? I know for desktops there's the BIOS jumper, but I really do not have a clue for laptops. Or am I forced to send it to Lenovo. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Answer:BIOS Update Failed

the good news is that you have warranty, the bad news is that you would need to get it sent into depot, whom would have change the motherboard.

Hello Everyone I've got Lenovo 3000 N200 model 0769 - BMG. The laptop worked fine for two years on the same windows. It needed new OS due to loots of errors and etc. I've installed fresh copy of XP pro and things stated to crash. So I though I install the new Windows 7 (7600) 32-bit. Everything worked fine for few days and then BIOS stated to crash. Just like that! When I was turning the laptop on it was hauled on the white screen with Leno and Intel sign beeping all the time. It required time or pressing the button to go further. I've tried few tricks like restarting the setting in the bios and on the jumpers on the motherboard but nothing worked.  The laptop was preowned so I didn't know how old is it so I decided to update the bios. I used the software from lenovo which does it for you no problem. Downloaded and run as administrator software was working (went to 4 out of 17 stages) laptop was plugged into the mains and fully charged. Then Windows crashed! Properly. I wasn't even able to turn it off with the power button! Held it for ages with no response. The only way was to remove the battery. Now the laptop turns on when you press the power button but the screen doesn't display anything. You can hear the CPU fan working normally but nothing else. Also I am able to turn it off with the power button If I hold it for few seconds. I know the BIOS is corrupted. Does anyone know what to do with it? Is it possible to fix? How? Or Whe... Read more

Question: BIOS update failed

While updating the BIOS on an Elite Group P4VMM2 motherboard, the update failed for no apparent reason and now I'm left with a nice boat anchor. However, not being one to give up quite so easily, I began to investigate, and have seen some reports that some motherboard's BIOS can be recovered. I have emailed the manufacturer's support team repeatedly, but they must be too tied up with more important matters to respond, so I'll ask the question here: Is it possible to recover the BIOS on an Elite Group P4VMM2 (ver 8.1) and if so how do I go about it? Any help on this matter is greatly appreciated.

I have a Acer Aspire 3100 I just replaced the lcd on it, and I was just about to update the BIOS in windows I started closing the applications and the computer froze, I never even clicked start bios update. So I restarted the computer, and than the display never came up ever again, I thought the lcd might have went bad or something I hooked it up to a external monitor but no screen, but the computer runs. I believe that bios update did start somehow and it failed What do I do now? Is this laptop garbage now?

Answer:Bios update failed now what?

I wouldn't think it's garbage if the BIOS update truly didn't start. How far does the computer go when it's hooked up to an external monitor? Do you hear start up sounds, does the POST display?

drag and drop to a CMD window hit space 1 time and type /writeromfile
repeat with /writehdrfile so it says
N5010A10.EXE /writehdrfile
rename n5010a10.hdr to N5010.HDR (per Phoenix Mod tool recovery filename) and put in usb fat32 stick. (i use sandisk cruzer 8gb and works on my inspiron 1520)

My machine was originally Windows 7 Home Premium and then when Windows 8 came out, I bought a license for 8.1 Pro. Updated the FW since then to F.26A and no issues at all. Now Windows 10 came out, updated it to the new OS, put an SSD to give it more grant, added memory and made it 16GB now running on a Micron 256SSD.  Recently, Windows 1607 came out, I had the update and noticed my internal webcam doesn't work. I thought of updating anything I can find and saw a new firmware release F.27. Downloaded it, run the executable, looks very promising and then on reboot it stopped!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If there was a way to do it using a USB than via Windows executable, i may have done it but it is too late.  Can you please help me restore / recover my laptops BIOS? Answer:BIOS update failed

I don't think you need the update. It sounds like it just fixes a quirk in their diagnostic program not in the way BIOS sees your processor. It also looks like it is only listed under XP 32bit OS. All other OS selections show no BIOS update so it can't be that important.

I think I would skip it since it acted so strangely the first time you ran the .exe.

Hi! Not long time ago, I've updated BIOS of my ThinkCentre M90 (5474-W2U) to version 5JKT58AUS. When I updated BIOS from Windows 7, I could boot computer only with recovery BIOS (if it's called that). I called local service provider for help as the computer is covered by warranty. They've successfully repaired BIOS from CD but they had to enter product and serial numbers because they had been erased by BIOS update from Windows 7. After that, they tried to see what had gone wrong, and found out that the problem was with selecting "Program All Blocks" for BIOS update. When this setting is checked, the product and serial numbers are being erased. They said that Lenovo doesn't cover this with warranty because it is "a user error", although BIOS is updated with official BIOS update. Is it true that Lenovo warranty doesn't cover this? Kresimir

Hi, For reasons I deeply regret I attempted to flash BIOS on an Acer netbook with the wrong BIOS as it turned out.
I've tried Acer's crisis disk facility with the correct version of BIOS on a usb stick at boot up (pressing Fn Esc) but no go.
The boot up gets as far as the Windows XP splash screen then I get the BSOD. It won't start in safe mode either, although I can get into the BIOS. I read somewhere that taking out the cmos battery will reset bios to default but can't get the keyboard out to expose the m/board anyway.

Is there anything left to try before I relegate the netbook to a paperweight.

Hello All! After a BIOS update (offerd by Lenovo Update) - and the automatic restart - the laptop doesn't boot. The led lights, the fan spins for a couple of seconds, but only black screen, no logo, no BIOS, no Windows.  Removing the CMOS-battery (for longer time) or pressing fn/win+B/R with the power button doesn't help. I'm trying to make a flash drive to flash the BIOS following these instructions. However I'm unable to retrieve the BIOS.wph or other proper file to use for the flash drive. I was using these originalfiles (both 2.08 and 2.5x), but neither with 7zip nor by installing the .exe (without installing the update itself) did produce the file I need. Could somene please help, where I could find the proper file (.wph or other) to make a BIOS flash with Phoenix recovery tools for a Thinkpad Edge 430, or whether you have an idea what other soultion (different software instead of Wincrisis for ex.) could I use to get my BIOS back into life again? Thanks in advance!

Answer:Failed BIOS-update on E430 - need wph for BIOS recovery

Unfortunately Lenovo laptops do not provide BIOS recovery functionality, either get the laptop in for warranty, or find a local computer repair shop that will reprogram your SOIC8 BIOS chip, they usually charge $40

Hey, I reinstalled Windows Vista Ultimate 32 bit and I was running the system update.  The BIOS portion failed on me (not responding) and I had to reboot my computer.  Now it seems like the computer turns on but the screen doesn't turn on. Help.

Answer:Computer screen not turning on after BIOS update failed using System Update

Hello, if your dvd is spinning up, you could try to download your bios as an iso file, burn it to disc, and try to boot and flash from this cd.The last chance is to take out the battery, click power ten times, insert battery again and plug ac in. If nothing goes, call Lenovo support line, youŽll need a new system board.

A Dell laptop that I got around September worked fine at first, but about two weeks ago it stopped charging. I was meet with messages that said the charger adapter type and power could not be determined. Though my battery would not charge, it was still able to use energy provided by the adapter to run. After getting sick of not being able to unplug my laptop, I stumbled upon this post: http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/laptop/f/3518/t/19451836
The employee who responded to this post claimed there was a fix to this problem, that fix being a BIOS update. I followed the instructions given. I downloaded the system detect program as to not use the wrong files. After it detected what system I had, it gave me the appropriate files. Keep in mind, I am still on Dells website and following the advice of a Dell employee. After the files had downloaded, I double-clicked and ran it. I was given a prompt that I should close all other programs before a continued with the update. I did so. After that, things went down hill. It got through a small portion of the update before my mouse froze. The fans in my laptop were on full blast. I had no choice but to hard reset. Now my laptop is unable to boot. I am at a loss as what to do. I cannot afford a new laptop;  the money just isn't there. I can't repair it either, money still being a huge issue. I am taking very demanding courses in school right now; a computer is a necessity, not just a need if I wish to be successf... Read more

In the meantime, the system power on ? You tried to boot into BIOS(F2 key) or Dell Preboot Diagnostic (F12 key)? If no, I suggest you do so at this time. Please follow steps below:
1. Turn off computer and disconnect all peripherals - printer, flash drive, external drive, etc....).
2. Power on system, quickly start tapping the F2 key(or F12 diagnostic) continuously. Hopefully you're able to see the BIOS setup.

The Problem is, after loading setup defaults and exiting the bios with saving the changes, the screen is black.

Now I want to recover my BIOS via crisis disk method but I need a BIOS wph file to do so but I cant find it in the downloaded folders of the BIOScfiles.
Does anyone know how and where to get it?
favourite id like to have the 1.60 version.

Is there a posssibility for that?
would anybody with the same modell dump the file for me and upload I or send an email?
[email protected]

Answer:Satellite L40-14Y - BIOS update failed

Hi An-Dr.Zej,

Do you really want to do this crisis method? In worst case you could destroy the whole mainboard and this procedure isn?t so easy. In your case I wouldn?t do this?

The Toshiba website shows only BIOS updates for Windows and that?s all what you can get?

In your case I would contact an authorized service provider in your country. The guys can reflash the ROM module and should have every BIOS version. Just get in contact with them! ;)

Had a major disaster last night.  Tried to update the BIOS on a Pavilion H8J91EA#ABU which failed; displayed boot block updated message (or something like that - can't remember exactly) message stayed on screen for ages and then blacked out.  Now the machine appears totaly dead.  I've tried the 'Windws-Key' and 'B' key bios recovery method to no avail. Does anyone know if this function is supported on the H8J91EA#ABU Thanks

Hello everyone, I have a brand new ThinkPad T450. I installed Windows 8.1 Pro (it was preinstalled with 7, but with licence for 8.1 too).Next, I wanted to imstall newest drivers and update BIOS. I used ThinkVantage System Update for it. After first scan, System Update marked BIOS update as critical update, so I accepted to install it. After some time (maybe two minutes or less) it prompted me that system will be rebooted - since I didn't do anything else on the laptop, I agreed. The problem is... system didn't reboot. It looks like it went to sleep mode (like it's suspended). The power LED is fading on and off.  Of course power cord was connected all the time - does it matter it was connected to docking station? What can I do with that? Only warranty procedure? Regards,Kasia

Yesterday I tried to update the BIOS on my G710 as had been recommended to me, and the update froze halfway. From what I understand, the motherboard is likely bricked, but there should be a way to recover the BIOS. Can anyone help guide me with this? The BIOS is, I think, InsydeH20. What steps should I take from here? I have borrowed a working laptop and I have a flash drive to hand. Attached is a photo of the stalled update screen. Any help is much appreciated.?

My HP notebook 15, I thought needed BIOS updates. So I tried to update, failed when restarting. Needed to do recovery and manufacturing settings. Tried to back up files not excepting any of my flash drives. Something about NFTS formatting appears. Tried calling HP. No help. Ran system test and tried to repudate BIOS. Looks like it was already up to date.

The PC is now bricked . Is it possible yo recover the BIOS? The original BIOS version was IRKT38AU S. I tried flashing with IRKT42AUS.

Answer:Bios update failed Lemovo H50-55

hi Win10User,

Sorry to hear about your trouble.

When you flashed the BIOS (as per this readme.txt), were there any errors during the flash process or any power interruptions or the BIOS update was successful but you get No POST after rebooting the machine?

If the update was successful but you get No POST then you may want to try this AMI BIOS Recovery (the flash utility is afuwin which is used for AMI BIOS).

If you're unable to recover it then I recommend you contact lenovo and report the issue (they usually send a tech. over for service).

Hope you get the issue sorted out soon.

I received the HP Notebook System BIOS Update (Intel Processors), and went through the installation.  I thought it was done.  Even after restarting the computer, it was there again the next day.  I started to install it again, and it stopped midway and now says I 'skipped' it.  It won't let me access it again so I can make sure it is completed.  Can you tell me where to access this update again?  Thank you.

I tried to install the BIOS update from the official Lenovo site but it failed and after rebooting I can't access neither BIOS nor Windows. Now I tried to recover it on my own using WinCrisis' recovery tool because as far as I know it is a phoenix BIOS. I failed to locate any .wph file or .ROM so I tried using the .fl1 file without decompressing it. I then prepared my USB drive but when I plug it into my PC and try to get into the BIOS recovery there is no signal that it is working like USB led blinking because it is being used. I tried pressing Fn + R/F/B and Win + B and nothing of those seemed to work. Then I disconnected the BIOS battery because I read that it resets the BIOS. This wasn't the case, my screen still stayed black. I also read something about a jumper to reset it but I can't find anything that looks even remotely like this thing. Now I am at my wit's end and I don't know what to do anymore. It is not issue with the screen cable, I'm 90% sure because it worked before and only stopped working after the BIOS update failed.Either I used the wrong BIOS file or the wrong hotkey to get the BIOS recovery started. If anyone can fix this, please help me. Thanks in advance.

Hi all,I tried to update BIOS on my x201, but it crashed and now my computer seems to be bricked. After all, I'd like to bring it back to work. When I try to turn my PC on, it beeps "-.." (bad MB) but I think that it's just BIOS failure, because it was ok before unsuccessful update. Is there any way to fix it?

Answer:X201 failed BIOS update

The fact that u are getting a beep code indicated that your x201 may not be totally bricked. Try the following procedure:  Remove battery and disconnect the  AC adapter. Press and hold the power button for several seconds and then repeat the press and hold several more times.  Re-attach battery and AC and then try to restart the system.   Good luck PS: One long and 2 short beeps can also indicate faulty memory.  Try removing memory and restarting laptop with no memory; then replace memory and try again

Hi,  I updated for a win 7 version of bios, it rebooted fine, but when I shut down and tried to power back up again, that's where it is not beeping any POST, I am unable to get the box to recognize the windows (function key) + B immediately after holding power button for 1.5 second (otherwise it would shut off). The fan would just get real hot and run at >8000rpm. I'm running the 14393.693 version of windows 10 pro. But now my BIOS won't boot.

After a fresh installation of Win10 i ran the Lenovo Update Tool to check for missing drivers. There was a BIOS update marked as critical so I installed it. The update was downloaded, the notebook rebooted and started installing the new BIOS. After maybe 10% of progress the notebook shut down. I tried to start it but the only life signs are two series of five beeps and the fans turning. I tried removing the battery pack and the bios battery for some hours, since this seemed to help some of the people with failed BIOS updates, but without success. Do I need a new motherboard now or is there another way to fix this?

Answer:Failed BIOS Update on T430

I just saw an old thread here in the forum which I didn't found before. Really seems that I need a new board. As my warranty is over, do I have to pay the repair myself? Because I think I didn't do anything wrong.

Hello, I installed Windows 10 recently and everything was working fine except I couldn't get my internal microphone to work at all. I'd tried everything and decided to give the bios a flash... it probably wasn't going to work but what could it hurt? Well, the computer will not boot now.  I get a long black screen then the screen below pops up in the center of the screen. I've tried selecting a boot device, just repeats the above process. I tried this solution: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-U-and-S-Series-Notebooks/Lenovo-u410-bios-recovery/m-p/1259303#M... - No luck. I tried the wincrisis utility and couldn't get it to work. I tried setting flashbacl to enabled... didn't do anything.  Says the Bios version is 65CN99WW - As I typed this I'm seeing that the product name in the bios is listing U310... which is obviously wrong as I have a u410. Pretty confident I went to the right place on lenovo's site... but maybe not.  Any advice would be great. I'd really like to avoid paying someone to fix this.

Recently one of our engineers has tried to upadate a Equium A60-155 Bios which failed.

Now the laptop wont even post you switch it on and it switches off striaght away.
What are the methods for reseting the Bios?

Does this require a seiral loop back plug or are there other methods to clear it.

Answer:Equium A60-155 Bios update has failed - What to do?

Hello

If the unit doesn?t start at all it probably the BIOS chip is damaged. In this case just service can help. Sorry but I am afraid you can not do anything there.

So i tried to update my BIOS for e530 edge model 3259=c2g The update say BIOS UPDATED please restart (or something like that) Now i only get a blank screen on startup. Tried Unpluging BIOS battery, Tried Unplugging battery.  Is there a bios reset jumper i could flip. Does anyone even know where the BIOS on the E530 is located. I assume close to the bios battery. Any ideas welcome. IBM will carge $200 / 1000DKK just to look at the problem. Maybe buying a new motherboard will be cheaper. Thanks

Answer:My e530 failed BIOS update

The cost to replace a motherboard and to do a system check up through IBM would be prohibitively expensive.
