Only one trackpoint cap comes with X200s?

Question: Only one trackpoint cap comes with X200s?

Just received my new X200s. I can't find the two spare caps(classic dome and soft rim) in the package. Does lenovo stop providing those or they just forgot putting them in my package?

Preferred Solution: Only one trackpoint cap comes with X200s?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Only one trackpoint cap comes with X200s?

I ordered my x200s in April 09 and got two extra caps!

Does anyone feel the Trackpoint feels a little heavy on the X200(s) or any of the newest ThinkPad models? I have an X200s, sensitivity set to lightest, mouse speed set to fastest with precision checked. The trackpoint on my X60s and X300 feel much lighter nd easier to move. Perhaps it's just the extremely high display DPI on the X200s? TIA, Kris.

Answer:X200s heavy Trackpoint

The Lenovo trackpoints are always 'heavy' out of the box. Go to the trackpoint settings in Control Panel > Mouse and adjust to 'light touch'.

For a while now, I have wondered why the virtual buttons shown in the utility http://imgur.com/Lljj1Z7 don?t function as advertised. According to the utility, I should get a left click if I depress the left are of the touchpad, a middle click if I push on the bumps, and a right click if I depress the right half of the touchpad. In my experience, I get a left click regardless of where I depress the touchpad. The only exception is when I depress the bumps in the top middle of the touchpad?when I do that, the mouse enters some weird scrolly mode where I scan scroll stuff with the trackpoint. It definitely does not emit a middle click. But, more importantly, I cannot figure out how to get trackpoint mode to emit a right click. How do I get trackpoint classic mode to work? Is there a way to downgrade the drive or use a non-lenovo branded driver to get it to behave properly? Right now, I?m relying on an external mouse just to middle click and right click. I?m using Windows 10 b10240 and, as in the post?s title, my trackpoint driver is the latest listed on Lenovo?s support site (which I think WU actually installed for me)?19.0.12.61. Why don?t the virtual buttons work and are there any other workarounds that don?t involve using a mode other than Trackpoint Classic?

Answer:T540p unable to right-click with virtual buttons in trackpoint or trackpoint classic mode 19.0.12.61

Seems to have partially fixed iteslf since Windows Update (WU) installed 19.0.16. Now the right half of my touchpad performs a right click when in TrackPad Classic mode. However, the supposed ?middle click? zone still does a weird scrolly mode instead of sending a middle click. Guess I still have to use an external mouse to accomplish a middle click when using Classic TrackPoint mode, but at least the situtaion is better than when I couldn?t right click with this mode.

Hi, I got an S230u Twist last autumn and have been really happy with it. At the time, I ordered a set of replacement rubber TrackPoint caps. When I replaced the original cap the other day, I realised that the replacement ones are about 0.5mm shorter than the original one, with the result that the H and G keys get caught on the edge of the cap; you have to hit them quite hard to get them to work. I compared all the new caps from the packet against the original one, and sure enough; they're all a little too short. They fit, but it's annoying to have to go back and make sure all my ""G"s and "H"s typed correctly.  Has anyone else had the same problem? Lenovo, could this just have been a bad batch, and if so can I return the unused ones for a replacement set that is the correct height?

Answer:S230u - replacement trackpoint TrackPoint caps are too short

If you bought them from Lenovo I'd just try and return them. If not dispute on eBay/PayPal/Credit Card. But never use poor quality TrackPoint Caps. Remember if a computer is running efficiently so is the person behind it generally.

Hi, I wonder whether there is a way to enable press-to-click for the trackpoint on the new x1? In the respective settings there is no such options and I searched everywhere, somebody found it? Next question: In order to avoid the annoying noise of the clickpad everytime you press it, I would like to use the tap function of the touchpad while using the trackpoint to move the cursor. Unfortunately, tapping on the pad seems to be disabled during use of trackpoint - any smart hack to get this workig? Thanks to all,J

Hi people, I want to buy a x200s CTO in Australia. I don't like the ugly line on top cover of the machine. Also I want LED. I called the Lenovo Australia. They told me that every machine except SL has next generation roll cage and the x200s has the ugly line. It does not have the LED, even for the wxga+ panel. Can anyone tell me whether they produce different x200s? I mean in US, they have LED, Next Generation ThinkPad Roll Cage technology utilizes a carbon-fiber/ glass-fiber top cove, etc. But they sell different machines in Australia? I am confused. Hope someone can help me. Thanks in advance!

I have a new X200s with Vista installed.  I would like to downgrade to XP SP3 I have: - XP SP3 install DVD (nLite version). - Matsu**bleep**a LF-D311 internal DVD drive hooked up to a converter (>USB) cable. Boot from DVD drive - works fine, XP setup starts running - after a little while, says that it can't find a hard drive to install to. - no options other than restart (automatic) Run from within Vista - Vista recognizes the DVD drive as a USB storage device. - I can stop/remove the USB device from the system tray - there is no apparent way to see the contents of the drive/DVD Any thoughts on how to manage this? Other points: - The install disc does not contain any Lenovo-specific drivers, as I could only find these as .exe files (and could extract any drivers) [I now realize that some of these exe files are extractable] - I do have an internal CD-ROM drive I could use instead (just means re-creating install discs).

Question: X200s Fan Failure

I've had a new X200s for five weeks, and over the weekend it began shutting down after displaying a FAN ERROR message early in the boot process, possibly during POST. From searching the net for this error, I've learned that this indicates the system isn't seeing the fan start up, so it shuts down immediately to prevent overheating.  The most common cure was to replace the fan. Anyone else experienced an early fan failure with the X200 series? I called tech support, and they promised a return shipping box will be delivered tomorrow, and they can turn it around in 5 (I assume business, not calendar) days. I'm tempted to just pop it open and check for something easy, such as some material blocking the fan rotation, or a loose connector.

Answer:X200s Fan Failure

ya know, if it was me, i'd probably open it up, but i've never had a computer that was covered under warranty.  unless you really know what you're doing, i'd let warranty do it.  if you fiddle with it and goof something up, you might end up with a nice hefty bill.

Question: X200s won't boot

Hello All, I have a Lenovo X200s that I purchased second hand a week ago. Everything was working great, except for a heating problem that kept the CPU temperature at about 70-80 degrees Celsius. So I decided to change the thermal paste on the CPU. I used the x200s service manual to disassemble the laptop.  Put everything back together and when I tried to boot it up it's stuck, I can't even get to the POST screen. After reading around the web, here are the following steps I have tried:*Took out the batter/disconnected the power plug and tried pressing the power button several times*Took apart the palm rest/keyboard and disconnected the CMOS battery*Removed the memory sticks and hard drive*Disconnecting the CMOS battery and the reboot after 5-15 minutes and still nothing When it boots the poweron/battery/ac indicator lights are on. Can anyone help? Thank you!

Question: x200s and webcam

Hallo. Please, does anybody know if there will be an x200s with webcam and  WXGA+ screen? If you look at the tabook of september 2008, currently there is no x200s with a webcam. But if you look at the video http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=zz9ErmQg2eU (at 5 min 22 sec), from Mark from lenovo, you see that the shown x200s model does have a webcam. Some forum posts say that the WXSGA+ does not allow a WWAN nor a 2x3 antenna. Is it also true for the webcam? Does the model of the video have a lower resolution screen, as the x200 model?I use the webcam for video conferencing by skype with collegues and for being in contact with my family when I am abroad for work.So it is a useful device even for a professional user.I am going to buy an x200s in any case, I can live without the webcam. But if there will be soon a model with one, I would be very disappointed not to have waited for it, and bought one without.Thanks. Best regards C.S.

hi,I have a vanilla windows 7 installation on my x200s, where I mounted a SSD drive.I understand that you'd need to work on some fixes to prolongue the life and performances of your SSD, so I disabled deframmentation and file indexing. I have no antivirus at the moment, so I don't expect any process reading/writing on/from disk too much once windows is completely booted. But the light indicating disk usage (the one just under the monitor) is continuously flashing, say once every second. I'd like to ask you if this is normal or not, and if not how I could figure out what's going on. Question: X200s identity

Hi, i am a recent member. I have a Lenovo T420 and a Lenovo X200s, both my wife and son have Lenovo R500's. This post is regarding my X200s type 7470 WWH.   OS Windows 7 Home Premium SP1.  I have had this nice little notebook for at least a year now, maybe more and it is very rarely used and is mainly kept as a family standby ~ an electronic spare tyre. lol    Anyway, some months back my niece was using it in the cooking room [the normal name for which is not permitted here - why? Am i missing something here?] and put the X200 down on the hot hob which did the bottom plate no good.  Anyay i got a s/h base plate and binned the old one.  I have just realised that whilst my system information shows the type as above what it does not show is the serial number.  On my T420, which has a different OS, the system info includes the serial number.  If i ever need to order any spares i will need the serial number. Question is the sn embedded in the Bios and if so how can i access it ?

Solved!

Answer:X200s identity

Hi Col2T, welcome to the forums,

the system type and serial numbers are visible as one number in BIOS, the first 7 are the system type (MTM) and the last 7 are the s/n.  Maybe make a separate note of them somewhere in case you need them when the system can't be started.

The above picture is from a Lenovo BIOS simulator, please do not post your s/n in the forums.

edit;  sorry, almost forgot.  To enter BIOS press the F1 key at the BIOS splash screen after starting the system from a cold start.

Hello,I have a problem with the battery gauge on my x200s.I upgraded the power management driver and power manager software to the latest versions, but still have issues. The gauge does not refresh the actual state. I cannot close the gauge - when I click "Close Power Manager Gauge" it won't do close. Also, when I start the Power Manager and clear the checkbox "Show Power Manager Gauge", nothing happens. When I close the Power Manager and start it again, the checkbox is still checked. Any ideas?

I have a X200s (running XP) as new the mic level was impossibly quiet, but updating the driver (6mth ago?) made a lot of difference (A "1 Microphone Boost" tic-box appeared) but though better the mic audio is still (from multiple headsets and mics) on the quiet side. On various apps (Skype, WebEx, etc) setting gain controls to max makes 'green bars' appear to the bottom left bar-graphs. And AGC controls all hunt to max. I have updated driver again a couple of times (from Lenovo site), the latest *today*  ... but no avail. I can't find the spec for the audio input jack for the X200s anywhere? Is it a Mono or Stereo jack? And is it a 3 contact electret mic configuration? Thanks.ian

Hi, I got recently refurbed x200s (7469W92 (7469-CTO))  with 2 x 1GB Hynix memory. (32-bit Win7). Now I'm looking to get more RAM. I would like to get 4GB stick, so that if I install 64-bit Windows in the future, I hav the option to add another one. But it seems that some x200s are more equal... so I decided to ask from experts. Will 1 x 4 GB work? or is 2GB maximum that 7469 recognizes? Sticks I have now are 2x1GB Hynix 2Rx16 PC3-8500S-7-10-A1, can I get DDR3-1333 (crucial recommends it) or is DDR3-1066 the only way to go? TIA,C

Answer:x200s memory upgrade

Welcome to the forum!

X200s will take a maximum of 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 laptop RAM.

I'd be more conncerned about getting a name-brand-set of DIMMs (Crucial, Micron, Hynix, Elpida, Mushkin) than I'd be about the speed, since higher-speed RAM will downclock to the 1066 speeds.

Happy upgrading.

I just bought a 2nd hand x200s. A marvellous little machine for less than $200! But I can't quite figure out all the equipment in there. For instance, I don't know if it has WWAN or that it is only WWAN capable. It has the led and the sim slot, but I can't find any indication of a WWAN card actually in there. How can I find out if it has? And if it's not there, can I swap out the Ericsson F3507G from my T400 into my new x200s? And the slot in the front on the right side, is that a Flash card reader? The model is a 7470CR9

Answer:x200s: how to identify hardware?

According to the Lenovo support site wwan card should be preinstalled in your laptop:

X200s (7470-CR9): Base on 7469-5RG: SL9400(1.86GHz), 4GB RAM, 160GB 7200rpm HD, 12.1in 1280x800 LCD, Intel 4500MHD, Intel 802.11agn, Vodafone WWAN, Modem, 1Gb Ethernet, Secure chip, Fingerprint reader, Camera, 9c Li-Ion, WinXP Pro

If your laptop was sold for the 1st owner on the European market the most chance it's Ericsson F3507g wwan card, FRU 43Y6513.

T400 also can be equipped with Ericsson f3507g wwan card too, FRU 43Y6477 for USA market, 43Y6479 for others country. Despite the same model there is a chance it might be not compatible with x200s because of the different approved modem identificators in laptop BIOSes white lists. In this case x200s with modem from the t400 will not boot.

So you can be convinced yorself the wwan card is installed into your x200s at the factory. Follow the page below and type in laptop serial number:
http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/product-and-parts/partsLookup.page

If you'll not identify the card or don't know what to do let us know.

Hi all! I would like to ask for help in diagnosing a display problem in my X200s, model 7470-5GA.Attached below are photos of how it looks (white flickering screen). There are times when I boot the laptop and everything appears to be normal and okay until after Windows starts and the problem comes back.I've tried connecting it to an external monitor. There is a signal but there is no display on the external.I've also tried booting Linux from a USB to check if it's only happening in Windows. The issue persists in 3 Linux distros I've tried.Any help would be greatly appreciated.X200s display problem 1 X200s display problem 2 (with black desktop background)

Answer:X200s Display problem

Hi Finej,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

As per the query we understand that you are facing the issue with Display on your ThinkPad X200s.

As per the snapshot I am sure it is a hardware issue and it might be with Display screen or with system board. However I request you to confirm this in BIOS mode if the issue persists in BIOS mode also.

And also connect the external monitor while performing the BIOS boot, to perform the steps you have to keep tapping the F1 key after switching ON the system.

Hope to hear back soon!

Best regards,
Hemanth Kumar

This is an intermittent problem: the taskbar display occasionally gets corrupted so all the buttons move, double-image or disappear altogether. It seems to be an Explorer.exe issue as other applications aren't affected and restarting the process sometimes fixes it, but otherwise I have to reboot. I run the latest BIOS and Vista Business, and usually have Firefox, Celtx, Outlook and Word running. I have the Power Manager and ThinkVantage Toolbox buttons in the taskbar too, which I'm thinking might be the cause. Perhaps coincidentally, the taskbar also often appears when I'm running 'full-screen' DIVX movies. Anyone else had this and found a solution?

Answer:X200S corrupted taskbar

hey happytadpole,if you believe the Power Manager and ThinkVantage Toolbox might be causing this, could you uninstall it from your system and then use your unit for a day just doing your daily routine and see if the taskbar gets corrupted.if it doesnt, reinstall both softwares and see if the taskbar corruption happens after reinstallation.btw, what version do you have installed ?

there are a few companies that can physically resolder these BGA CPU, but there are not many around, and costs of doing this upgrade is probably more expensive than changing the whole motherboard.

I have an X200s and installed Windows 8 on it a few different times now, and sometimes when I either shut down the machine and cold boot, or coming back from sleep the machine will reset during the Windows 8 loading (spinner) sequence and Windows will tell me that it recovered from a serious error with the Event Viewer showing a Stop Error. I tried debugging the stop error and it seems that Windows 8 isn't shutting down properly. Is anyone successfully using Win8 on the X200s? I'm running everything stock except for an Intel SSD. Friends, i have a x200s with 5350 wifi/wimax card.

Yesterday i used system update to refresh the wimax driver. After the automatical installation, my wifi never worked till now. As you can see from the picture below, i used FN+F5, and tried to turn the wifi "power on", however, it never responded to my click. Also, although the wifi does not function or be turned on, the light indicator of wifi seems to say that it is working, see the picture.

Link to picture

I/ve tried to install, restall the wifi, wimax, AC drivers by windows/intel default or System Update. I even tried to reinstall the Hotkey and power manager drive, but never made success.

If you may help me. Everything for me seems correctly installed though.

And here it is another photo. Basically windows' diagnostis said windows cannot bond the ip protocol to the wireless modern. However, i've checked the protocol. All wireless, internet related protocols have been turned on.

I know probably reinstalling the whole system is the best way to work with. However, without further try, i hold the last option. Hope someone here can help me. Truely appreciate.

Hi, The 65W AC adapter for my X200s just broke and I got a used replacement that also turned up to be broken. The computer works 100% with a regular 90W adapter and with another modified 90W adapter with a plug from the broken 65W adapter. (The middle pin tells the computer which type of adapter is connected.) My questions are: Is it a common problem that the 65W adapters break? The alternative is that there is an error in my computer that destroys the 65W adapters (possibly by misinterpreting the middle pin information and drawing too much current). Has anybody come across such a problem? (No point in buying another 65W adapter if the mobo will break it too.) Thanks in advance. Niclas

Answer:X200s breaking AC adapter?

Hi Niclas,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I?m sorry to hear that your 65W adapter fails when you connect it to your Lenovo ThinkPad X200s.

I would like to inform that ideally 65W and 90W adapters are cross compatible if they have the same voltage ratings.

The 90W adapter can be used on systems with either discrete or integrated graphics, while the 65W adapter should only be used on systems with integrated graphics. Issues only arise if you use a 65W on a discrete ThinkPad, but it's only a matter of performance as per my knowledge.

Try a BIOS update and check if it is a Power socket issue.

Best regards,
Mithun.

My X200s appears to have  come with SQL server 2005 preinstalled. Anyone know the specific reason for this? What would happen if I uninstall it?

Answer:SQL 2005 preinstalled on X200s, why?

gkey, welcome to the forum,

it's installed probably because you also have a preinstalled test version of Office 2007, the SQL is needed for the Business Contact Manager. If you have no plans to use BCM you can uninstall SQL without any "after effects". If you uninstall BCM it should uninstall SQL at the same time.

Hope this helps

I own this brilliant piece of digital equipment, ThinkPad x200s. And after running on DC power for quite a long time, the fingerprint reader, that contains metal parts and is so kindly placed under my right hand by the designers, begins to electrocute me. This doesn't seem to be static electricity, the effect has constant strength. It's rather strong and even prevents me from typing. And when I try to pull the cable out of the notebook, that electrocutes me too. Reboot makes it stop. However, this "feature" is rather hard to reproduce, though it happens again and again at a random time.Has anyone had the same problem and is it possible to solve it?BTW: I am running Gentoo Linux on it, every other piece of hardware is OK.P.S. Just received a "Redistributed" x200s from Lenovo Outlet.  I would like to believe it was an unused unit as promised; but, there are a few odd things:  (1) the OS was already fully installed with a user "Wiz"; (2) There was no plastic protecting sheet on the screen--not sure if there should be, though; (3) the OS is Windows XP, as described; but the only OS sticker on the bottom of the laptop is for Vista; and (4) Wifi does not work--the reason it was returned? According to Lenovo, a Redistributed unit was ordered but returned with the box still sealed and the computer unused, as opposed to a "Refurbished" unit, which is opened and which may have been used. Does anyone know whether this could be a "Redistributed" unit, after all?  I would like to believe but am doubtful at this point... Thanks.

Answer:Is this Outlet x200s really "Redistributed"?

1) Probably someone used for a few days and return it. 2) The unit don't ship with protecting sheet on the screen, at least i never got one when i got the machine new. 3) Some machine are factory downgraded unit that has win xp installed but with vista os.

Hi,I was wondering if it was possible to disable the boot up beep on my X200s.  I have recently purchased a x200s to replace my x60s. The x60s is running XP with a couple of boot partitions and third data partition.  The X200s will have Vista installed.  I've used Vista and would prefer to wait until Windows 7 comes out before doing all the work to set up the two boot partitions.  Can I just put the HD from the x60s into x200s and update the drivers and expect it to work?   I'll clone the x60s disk before I start just in case. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Answer:Swapping a HD from an X60s to an X200s

It would not work out of the box, you have to install the x60s hdd in the x200s then restore the x60s hdd to factory condition, which would then ask for the serial number since the configuration of your x60s is different to the x200s. Finally you will have to download all the drivers for your x200s.

I can't think of any way unless there was a simpler port replicator available but I thought someone might know a way to do it. (just in case it's relevant, I'm looking for DVI or HDMI output so I'll use an adapter from the DisplayPort to DVI) I know there are USB-DVI adapters out there but I'm looking for one that takes advantage of the inbuilt graphics and supports 1920x1200 @ 32bit. Thanks for your time...

Answer:X200s DisplayPort or DVI without Ultrabase?

You can get a usb2dvi adapter to get dvi out, but i don't know whether the usb2dvi supports 1920x1200 resolution, i don know they support 1600 x 1200 resolution. I guess you have to look around and see whether any of these converter support the resolution you are after. Message Edited by lead_org on 04-22-2009 10:54 AM

Answer:X200s 1440x900 screen?

i have recently seen my friends one i have to say i am impressed with the resolution on such a small screen, adjustibility is also extremely good. And due to the widescreen the keyboard is very large, with a large enter key... something that didn't exist in the standard aspect ratio 12.1 inch screen.

I've just got my new X200s including ultrabase and DVD R/W (7469-73G). The warranty service ist "bring-in". I thought that this kind of service usually is "bring-in and return" but German Lenovo service told me that this service is "bring-in and pick-up". Just in case I need Lenovo warranty service I have to send my X200s to Eastern Europe (Bratislava, Slovacia) which is hard to accept because Lenovo has service locations in Germany. Best of all: When repair is finished, I have to pick-up my X200s in Bratislava or ask e.g. UPS for pick-up which is quite pricy for private customers. Is there anybody from Germany or Europe who has experience with Lenovo's bring-in (and pick-up) service?

Answer:X200s bring-in service

reuchlin, welcome to the forum, I don't know how, but someone perhaps thought you were calling from Slovacia. The information is incorrect.  If you should need warranty service in Germany call 01805 004618 and explain the problem; should it be decided that you need to send your system in for repair you will not be asked to send it to anywhere outside of Germany but rather to Lenovo's repair centre for Germany which is based in Heppenheim. When your system has been repaired they will return it to you at no extra charge. Hope this helps

Dear experts,

I have a periodic BSOD problem on my beloved Lenovo x200s. I bought it with 2GB RAM and Vista x32 installed. About a year ago I added 2GB RAM, installed Windows 7 x64 and changed the hard disk for a Crucial M4 256GB. Since then I had periodic BSOD which I think was linked to the graphics driver (one reason I like this x200s is it has the 1440x900 screen: don't know if this has anything to do with the problem).

The problem got worse and a few days ago I did a clean install of Windows 7. I have had two further BSOD since then. I think they are recorded in the attached files made with the SF Diagnostic Tool.

I am quite competent with computers, but trying to ID the problem from the event logs etc is beyond me. Any help from you good folks on Windows 7 Support Forums would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

James

Just wondering - my X200s has a SIM card slot under the battery, but I don't remember optioning it with a WWAN card. Is this SIM card connected to anything? I see a "PCI Simple Communications Controller" in my device manager...

Answer:SIM card slot in X200s...

The sim card slot comes by default with the x200s. you need to buy the broadband card for it to work. I had an x200s and I had the 5300 wifi card (3 aerials). I then purchased the ericsson f3507g card and installed it myself. I had to take off one of the aerials that was attached to the wifi card so I can use it for the broadband card. Simple enough process

I have a new X200s delivered to me in Luxembourg (company machine). I'm using it in the UK. The " key (shifted ') and the @ key (shifted 2) are swapped making the enrty of email addresses a pain becuase I forget. Is there a soft utility that I can use to fix this? Thanks for your help D

Answer:X200s keyboard mapping

Sourceforge.net has hundreds of freewareutilities  for just this purpose, there are too many to choose from for me to suggest and even a  wide selection to address the US/EN layout to EuR conversion. Start there and you'll likely find what you need.

I would like to ask all thinkpad's experts that is it possible to change CPU celeron to c2d in x200s?  If in case it's possible what's about the warranty's effect? thanks, Moo

Answer:Is it possible change CPU celeron to c2d in x200s? and....

the CPU on the X series are physically soldered onto the motherboard, so the answer is no. The only way to upgrade the CPU is to swap out the motherboard, which Lenovo can't do for you and if you decide to do it yourself, the remaining warranty will be voided.

Answer:x200s Keyboard Flex

i have the same problem. keyboard flex on the right side and the left bottom. this is really anoying when typing. lets hope we can use a x200 keyboard instead, because it has a stronger back-plate!

Was anyone so far able to get FN+F5 running on an X200s and under Windows XP? We tried for days now and it continously fails. We tried via systemupdate, we tried manual installs, we tried XP sp2 and sp3, we changed installation order for the software. Also we tried different versions (actual download vs. preinstalled older versions that come with the notebook) We had this previously working with X41, X60s, X61s and it never gave us such a headache as the previously released x200s. So did anyone so far stumble over the perfect combination of driver and software versions and the order to make it work? best regards,Bender

What happens when you press FN-F5?  Does the wireless light toggle on or off?  Do you get an error message?  Do you have Hotkeys installed?  http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-68000

Answer:LED screen on X200s died!

Sounds like a display power supply problem or could just be a loose connection.  You will need to have Lenovo fix it.  Should be a warranty issue

Answer:X200s and X200 tablet - first look reviews are up

I wish this came out at the same time as the X200 as I would have ordered this instead.. Oh well. The X200 is the last Lenovo product I ever buy.. Nice products but this last experience with their delays and then not sending the proper invoices for all the express shipment is leaving a bad taste in my mouth so far. If apple ever comes out with the Iphone Tablet which uses the same touchscreen as in the iphone but with a more powerful proccesor and memory.... I'm sold... However till then this is the last IBM I will buy...

Hi, I'm using XP Professional on my new x200s.  I'm noticing a bit of a flicker on the display, and it doesn't display things well when scrolling - is there a way to increase the refresh rate from 50 to 60 hertz?  In the Intel (R) Graphics Media Accelerator Driver for Mobile display settings, 50 hertz is the only available refresh rate.

I've always used Tablet PCs to take notes in class. However, I'm getting tired of mine, and I'm starting to realize that I rarely use the tablet feature. Should I sell it and get the x200s? I'm just really confused.Anyone switched from a tablet to a regular laptop? I'm just afraid that I'd make up reasons to convince myself that I want a tablet again after getting rid of it.

Answer:Letting go of X200t for X200s v.Help my decide

The X200t is only good, if you use the tablet feature, if you don't use it, then the main feature you pay for doesn't worth that much to you. ALso if you sell it now, you can still recover most of what you pay for, down the track, your product would depreciate significantly. The X200s, use low voltage CPU, so it is more frugal in terms of power demand. The question of worth, must take into account how often you use the tablet mode. Also, if you can't sell the X200t for a good price, then there is no point of selling it to get the X200s, as essentially the X200t is a X200 with a tablet screen.

Need help !   X200S repeatedly goes into blue screen of death. Machine is still under Lenovo warranty.Purchased as Vista machine deprecated to XP (by Lenovo).  When BSOD Usually gives not useful information, but sometimes sayspage fault in non-paged area.   Will usually BSOD and reboot continuously, go to log-in screen, and then BSOD and reboot.   Tried going into Safe mode and seemed stable for the limited amount of time I testted it. Got maching to be stable long enough to download most recent Lenovo toolbox.   Did all the Lenovo toolbox diagnostics and no errors found. Did BIOS hard-disk check and nothing.   Based on occasional page fault in non-paged area upon BSOD Lenovo recommended replacing memory. Service tech replaced memory yesterday but still BSOD.    Rolled back to a previous restore point from a year ago and still identical behavior.   Now at a complete loss as to what to do.     Since machine was purchased as Vista deprecated to XP Lenovo supplied restore disks for Vista but not for  XP (even though XP was put on the machine by Lenovo).  Any help appreciated.

Answer:X200S blue screen of death

Maybe you want to run memtest on the memory or if you've got two sticks of memory, try them one at a time.

Hi there, I have a ThinkPad x200s which is about 2-3 years old and recently it has been going to the stanby mode randomly. When I say standby, I mean it goes back to the blue screen where it asks me to swipe my finger to log on. It does when I am either working and typing or when I am watching a movies - no rules. I did however notice that with every bit of movement, it goes to stand by. Now, the thing is, at work, my colleague accidentaly managed to pull the cable from my laptop when it fell of the very low table. After my initial worry, it seemed to work after that, so I am not sure if the random going to stanby mode is due to that. This was about a month ago. I have also been carrying my laptop around a lot, so I am wondering if it might be the constant shakes and movement it experiences when carried around that perhaps made it very sensitive. If this makes sense? Because, I also notices that when I touch the screen, it goes to stand by. Or maybe I caused the problem because sometimes I don't shut down my laptop, I just put the screen down overnight. Not sure!!! So, this last Friday, I left my laptop at home, didn't carry it to work, and I noticed that over the weekend, whilist it has been going to the stand by mode now and then, it is much less frequent, unless I do some sudden movement with my laptop. What could it be, guys? I am happy to answer any questions if that is going to help diagnose the problem. I just don't want to take it to repairs y... Read more

Hi My x200s was purchased last year and now it is still in warranty. Issue 1:At first the machine was perfect but about 3 months ago I found the first defective pixel on the screen. Then the number keeps growing. Now there are at least 5 of them. All are dark ones. Can I ask Lenovo to do anything about it, say, have the LCD swapped? Any advice? Issue 2:Recently I ran HDTunes and it gave me a SMART C4 warning "Reallocated Event Count". The overall health status of the HDD is warning.I am a little worried about the HDD now. Can I ask lenovo to do anything about it? Any advice? A question:The warrenty location of this machine is Hong Kong but at present I am in Australia. Will this situation cause a problem when seeking service from Lenovo Australia? Thanks Jrouy

Answer:Please give me advice about my x200s issues.

As long as you have warranty coverage Australian, then both of these problems are covered. You can determine whether your machine is eligible for warranty in Australia, by checking the following website.http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=LOOK-IWS#swIssue 1, requires you to send the laptop to the depot (once you contacted Lenovo warranty on 131-426, they will arrange pick up and delivery to the nearest depot using DHL Express).Issue 2, can be resolved through Lenovo service sending out the replacement drive to you (you can request a set of recovery media, if you haven't made one already), and you give the courier (Toll Priority) the broken one.
