[X300 intel external display] Problem to display correctly 1600x1200px on external screen

Question: [X300 intel external display] Problem to display correctly 1600x1200px on external screen

Hello everyone, I have a problem with my external display on my X300 laptop... I have a X300 with WinXP, and a 20" 4/3 1600x1200 external display (Samsung 204B). When I want to use my external display as an extended desktop, it didn't work well... First I configure my display as an extended ... into 1600x1200px resolution. As the ratio isn't 4/3 on the laptop, there is some border at the top and at the bottom of the external screen, consequenly there is an "lift" (when I go down the screen move down.. etc.). It's not very ..cool. So there is an option into the graphic proprety to set the screen in "full screen : not keeping the proportions". But, in this case, my external screen display an ... triky ? There is still an "lift", but there is also two border on the right and the left of the screen, and the image quality isn't there. It's too deformed to can be read. After some research it appear that my lenovo drivers do not match with the last intel one... But when I try to install the lenovo one ... It didn't work ! (hardware problem). How can I get a working extended desktop into 1440x900 + 1600x1200 full screen ! Thanks for all, and sorry for my poor English...

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Does anyone find that when T430 connects with external display using VGA, if you show a white screen, I can find some horizontal jitters. It is not that obvious, but if you show a white screen, or most of screen is white, and you check it carefully, you can see that horizontal jitters. This only happens in external display, not happen in the laptop display. I also have a T420, but I didn't see this problem using VGA to connect with external display.  Does anyone find this similar problem? I doubt whether this is problem about VGA port, or the related driver. VGA should be a analog port.

Answer:External display show minor jitters when T430 connect with external display using VGA

I checked the forum and see this:VGA output noisehttps://forums.lenovo.com/t5/T400-T500-and-newer-T-series/VGA-output-noise/m-p/1596622#M98647I think what I saw is the exact same problem mentioned in this thread. But how should I fix it?Thanks.

I bought an Inspiron 15 3542 a few months ago. I connected it an external Acer 27' monitor via hdmi cable. It didn't  work. However, I could connect the same monitor to my older Acer Laptop via same hdmi cable without any problem.

I installed the latest video driver from dell.com, setup with 60p HZ, and the monitor only worked fine for a few seconds then went black (same as before). However, when I changed the display setting to 60i HZ, the monitor worked but the display was a little shaky/blinking.  Please help.

Answer:Inspiron 15 3542 can not display correctly on external monitor.

Hi,
You may want to take a look at this article on setting up and troubleshooting multiple monitors in Dell laptops.  While it doesn't sound like you're using the FN+F8 key to set up multiple monitors the basic concepts of how to adjust display settings, how to tell the system to display onto external monitors, etc., are the same.
Let me know if this helps or not.   It could simply be that the resolution and refresh rates of your monitor are outside the range of what the laptop is currently set up to handle.   Have you tried the on-screen setup utility that comes with most monitors?  Try resetting the monitor to default (factory) settings and see if that helps.

Hi guys,

with my old monitor giving up - I'm looking for a new external monitor to connect my Qosmio X770 to.

Beacuse of that I'm interested in the ZR2740w monitor.
But I'm not sure if the mentioned monitor will work correctly and on full resolution with my Qosmio.

The full resolution of the ZR2740w is 2560 x 1440 and the specs for my Qosmio (http://www.toshiba.eu/discontinued-products/qosmio-x770-107/) say that the maximum supported res of an external monitor is 2,048 x 1,536, but nVidia (the graphic adapter manufacturer) says that their GeForce? GTX 560M supports flat-panel displays up to 2560 x 1600 (http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-560m/features).

Seeing that I don't have anyware to try out this comibation before I acutally buy the ZR2740w - I'm wondering if you have any adavice?

Will this combination work ok?

Thanks.

JJ

Answer:Qosmio X770 - Would external ZR2740w Display work correctly?

You will be very lucky if someone on this forum has the same Qosmio notebook and use this external display and can send some feedback.
In my opinion you should either buy it and test it at home or talk with your local dealer and test it in the store.

In worst case you can send it back. I don?t know how it works in your country but usually you have 14 days time to send product back if you are not happy with it.

2082-RF1 The laptop has had some display issues for a few months.  An external monitor through DisplayPort has always been the way I have viewed content. A few months ago, I tried to view the laptop's screen, and noticed that I could not get it to be viewable.  It was blank.  Disconnecting the external monitor, and restarting, had no effect.Since then, the internal screen has always been blank, whenever I have checked.Additionally, issues started to occur intermittently, with the external monitor signal.-The screen resolution would change upon start-up, and sometimes it would change after start-up. -The screen would blink to blank whenever the mouse wheel scrolled.-The monitor would have pixels sparkle in multi-color  (nice glitch for the holidays) Today, the external monitor stopped showing any content.  It simply gives the message of going into energy saving mode.   I am assuming that the issue is within the laptop, as opposed to the monitor itself, since the internal screen has been non-functional for a few months now.  What would be the best route for troubleshooting?I notice there is noticable dust build-up around the  venting areas, and was considering disassembling in order to fully clean out any dust. Are there any known issues with the video in this model?

Answer:T500 (2082)- Display problem - No Display on laptop or external.

Hi, mouserU

What is your operating system? I looked up the Personal Systems Reference for the T500 (2082) (seen here). When you navigate to that page, you can find your machine faster by searching (Ctrl + F) for "T500 2082." In Windows VIsta, this computer had the ability to do switchable graphics from the discrete card to the integrated and vice-versa. I'm not sure whether this ability has carried over through other OSes without aid of a driver (seen here.)

As for troubleshooting, I would first recommend seeing if you can boot the machine by means of another port on the machine, such as VGA, to see if you can get an image over to an external monitor. Not being able to see an image is most likely an indication of a bad video card. One last question for clarification: You can see nothing, not even BIOS, on either screen, correct?

Best,
Adam

Now when I connect the display port, the computer initially freezes up for 30sec-1min and then nothing, doesn't detect the display, cannot extend desktop onto the display etc. Tried updating the display driver. No improvement. Any ideas? Many thanks.Al

Is there a bios update available/planned to fix the issue with the external displays via the intel gpu? I can't seem to get an external display working under linux while using optimus/bumblebee setup. From the manual I got that Windows has the same problem, but it is masked by the seamless automatic switching. the machine needs to switch to discrete mode to be able to drive the external displays, even the VGA. This is very disappointing, because this reduces battery live a lot and makes the machine noisy. None of the machines I used before suffered from this problem. It seems unnecessary to me to use the nvidia GPU just drive an extended desktop.

Answer:Drive external display via intel GPU W530?

The intel GPU on my W530 can only drive the internal screen, I think this is how it is physically setup.

Recently my laptop display has become distorted e.g.it looks like a bad signal television channel and has a pink tint to it. So I plugged in my Philips 15" Hardglass Display which I had spare to see if that would work. It did for a few weeks but this morning when I switched it on, dotted vertical lines in groups of four. They were different colours depending on which colours were meant to be there e.g. blue came out as black lines, white as yellow and black as red. It was like this on my laptop as well. But when I just left it to start up it got to the bit when thw windows logo appears just before login and then the blue screen of death appeared. My laptop is a PC World own brand Philips freevents X57 loaded with Windows Vista Ultimate SP1. The graphics chip as I understand is a Nvidia Geforce Go 7400. I did a quick search on google and no solutions to my problem came up.

I have the U330 (win7 x86) fully updated and an LCD w/ max resolution of 1920x1080 and dvi/vga portsThe issue that I have is that when using the intel x4500mhd via the hdmi dvi cable, it does not recognize the monitor. It works if I use the ATI card, but it is louder than the Intel counterpart, so I would like to get use the Intel if possible. I tried rebooting, unplugging hdmi dvi cable, bu **bleep** doesn't work. The lcd is set at its native resolution/refresh rate. Now, I thought that maybe each graphic card use a different port, intel=vga, ati=hdmi, and that's why i'm not seeing anything, but i'm just guessing  Any help?

Answer:U330 - Intel X4500MHD not recognizing external display

check bios and/or graphic drivers updates, if it's available, try to flash/update them first.

Hi, I have the following problem: Sometimes if I connect an external display to my X201s via VGA, the Intel Graphics Accelerator Drivers crash repeatedly. So the laptop screen becomes dark, after a few seconds I can see an image again with the error message: "Display driver "Intel Graphics Accelerator Drivers for WindowsXP(R) stopped responding and has successfully recovered." After another few seconds, the screen gets dark again. This is repeated until I disconnect the external display. I have Windows 7 Pro 64bit installed and already updated to the last available Intel GMA driver from the Lenovo drivers page (v8.15.10.2025), but the problem remains the same. Also, the error is not 100% reproducable, but one out of two times, the driver will crash if I connect a display. This is very annoying, especially for presentations. Here is a screenshot of the error msg (in german): Also, what is the default way to contact lenovo support? I could not find any email address to conact them, just a telephone number. Best Regards,Johannes

I'm running Windows 7 on my X200. So far its worked well. Today, however, TVSU (v4.0) installed an update to the Intel graphics driver (GM45 display driver, 32 bit, v8.15.10.1968) and now my external monitor is virtually useless. It's a Samsung 181T (1280x1024) and it was connected and in use at the time of the installation. After rebooting the monitor is so dark it's unreadable. This is disappointing. I use my unit docked in an Ultrabase connected to a monitor and I need this to work properly. It looks as if the system now detects the external monitor as having a resolution of 1280x800, instead of 1280x1024.

Answer:X200 Intel graphics update today hosed external display

As an update to the previous message: the monitor was previously detected and workd as a Generic PnP monitor. I've now dug out an old CD and installed the driver for it. The monitor is now correctly listed by make and model and the screen resolution defaults correctly, but at no resolution is the problem of the horrible display any better, neither using the Ultrabase nor the VGA output on the side. My external display is unusable. I would like to roll back this update but the option to do so isn't offered. So far all of my TVSU updates have been flawless. This is really no fun at all. it seems I am not alone: http://communities.intel.com/message/73840 i don't understand the fix referred to at the end of that thread:        go into BIOS and disable the Intel VT-d I do not see an option to disable anything in the BIOS relevant to the display. Help please!

Hello,

I have a Qosmio X870-116 which have 2 video cards, a Intel on board and a Nvidia more powerfull.
My probleme, I don't how I switch my display on the Intel card and I see my Nvidia only for the external display.

Some one have an idea to switch on the nvidia card to my first display?

Thanks

Answer:Qosmio X870-116: usage of Intel / nVidia GPU on internal / external display

Hi

Something like that isn?t possible.
You cannot use two graphic cards simultaneously for internal and external display.

First of all you can switch between external and internal display using the function key Fn + F4 (or just F4)

Secondly the nVidia Optimus technology optimize notebook performance by seamlessly switching between a nVidia GPU and Intel internal graphic card.
The switching is automatic and does not require any notebook?s reboot.

Hi,
so I have this brand new Dell Inspiron 7559 with the Intel HD 530 and Nvidia graphics card. I am also using a Dell external display that uses the same full hd resolution and 60 hz frequency.
So I have connected the external display using DVI>HDMI cable to my laptop. Everything works fine. But I have disconnected the cable, used the laptop around with the built in display and later shut it down. After doing this i cant start it with the external display again. No matter what I do, I tried every setting, also hitting the buttons on my keyboard to use only the second display etc. It stays black.
Only thing that helps - I have to reinstall the drivers "7559_Video_Driver_HYWWT_WN32_20.19.15.4352_A03". After doing this, it works again till i dont disconnect it and shut it down. But I cant work like this, always reinstalling the drivers.
Second Issue - after reinstalling the drivers, it restarts the system but the text is slightly blurry in some applications, I have to restart it again to get sharp text.
Thanks!

Greetings, i bought Lenovo T520 with nVidia 4200. But when i connect external monitor (LG 245WP) via displayport (converted via dispayport to HDMI) i get shifted screen. And LCD is connected as TV, not as 1920x1200 monitor. There is nothing i can change, all drivers are up to date. I'm using Windows 7 64b PRO. Please, can you help me to fix it? When i use VGA, all is working. Thanks, Moreplavec

If I recall the image via the display port and your converter to HDMI is blow a little larger. I seem to recall that when I connected mine.I am not aware of any adjustments myself but then again only used it once to see if it worked when I first got my HDMI converter.

Bought a replacement for my old G-10 last week, i purchased the F-20-137, I have only just got round to setting up the Media Center side of it,as i have been busy with work, and found a nice suprise, a DVB_T tuner card, they did not tell me it had a dual analougue/digi tuner in this model. in fact i was told the opposite!

Now i have 89 new channels!

Only 1 regret though, i miss the 17" screen, 15.4 is ok and the new Piano Black looks good, but the 17" on the G-10 was superb, i suppose ill get used to it, i rarely use it for DVD or TV anyway,

Need some advice, i am looking for a big screen that has multi channel input(like the 34" dell" anyone know of a good reasonably priced one?

Alan

Answer:Qosmio F-20-137: Need a 'big' external display screen

Hi

Well, it?s very difficult to say which monitor is the best. The fact is that such big displays are very expensive and in my opinion you should check the price and performance of the display.

I have found this side which compare many 30?-32? LCD monitors. Maybe the informations on this site relieve your decision.

Hi, I own a T420s 4171 and have 2 external monitors hooked up to my docking station. That works fine, but when I try to also display my laptop screen (as my 3rd screen), it won't enable it. It seems to only allow 2 viewable screens (2 external monitors OR 1 external monitor + laptop screen). I tested a T420s 4173 and was able to get 3 viewable screens, but not my 4171, even after updating all of the lenovo drivers. I was comparing video card specs (4171 vs 4173) and it looks to be the same. Can someone confirm/deny that I'm able to have 3 screens with my model? Thanks.

When I move between home and office, I go into hibernation since sleep mode is unstable. Often when I turn back on the Yoga, the screen remains black but I know the laptop is on and can get the image on the external monitor.Going into the display parameters doesn't help: the laptop display doesn't exist. Same with the F10 key: the external display has become the "laptop display". I have to restart Windows. Any alternative?

Having a very strange (and annoying) issue with the display. I can only see the display on my Twist after connecting it to an external monitor first. If I do not, all I see is a black screen. No cursor, no anything. If I connect it to an external display via the display port to VGA adapter, it works fine. If connect it to an external display and then disconnect my external display, the display will remain on the Twist. However, if I reboot, I lose the screen again until I connect it to an external monitor. I made sure that "PC Screen Only" is chosen in the Fn+F7 option. This is obviously a serious problem. This is for company use and our users will not have a VGA monitor handy with them where ever they go. I checked the hardware manager and all the drivers are installed with no warnings.

Answer:Lenovo Twist display issues - No display unless I connect to an external monitor

Figured out a work around and narrowed down the problem. If I hit the Second Screen key (F7) after booting, it will go PC Only as the first choice and bring up the display on the laptop after a few seconds. The puzzling thing is why it seems to choose the external monitor as the default monitor on boot, even if it is not conected. I've tried running System Updater to make sure that I have all the latest drivers. All the display settings appear to be correct.

I have a W500 and recently bought a 22 inch lenova monitor 2551p. Catalyst Control Center does not display a Fixed Aspect Ratio option for this new external monitor. I can change the resolution to a fixed aspect ratio on my native screen, but not on the new external monitor. Long story short, a 1024x768 webpage gets stretched across my widescreen monitor and it should not - I should see the black bars on the sides. Is there a resolution to the issue?Does anyone have a direct URL to download and install new drivers?Does anyone have a direct URL to get the latest and greatest Catalyst Control Center? Is there third party software I can use in the place of Catalyst Control Center? I am pretty sure I have all of these things, but want to see if someone knows a work around or newer drivers/software.

Answer:W500 Does Not Display Fixed Aspect Ratio for External Display 2551p

i am not sure whether the Lenovo LCD that you got, has the fixed aspect ratio and 1:1 mapping option. If it doesn't then there is nothing much you can do from the LCD end.

Which catalyst driver are you using right now?

I have a T420 with a Mini Dock Series 3 (433710U).  The External Display is a 30" Dell U3011 monitor connected to the Dock via DisplayPort. As Im dealing with another issue (another thread) the Bios is set for Discrete Graphics only as the Optimus mode currently has a bug which cannot drive this 2560x1600 resolution display.  Now that I have a workaround, I have another problem. When the power savings in Windows7/Power Manager turns the display off (for me its set for 10mins), If I come back 20mins later, shake the mouse, the Dell Display acts like its turning on (LED light turns on blue to indicate signal) and then message flashes on the screen from the Dell monitor stating that its going to sleep.  So now I have a Black display (monitor went back to sleep). I can open the Lid on the laptop (forgot to mention I dont dual display, I just use the 30" exclusively and close the lid on the laptop on the dock) the screen on that shows up. Close the lid again, the monitor does the same thing where it acts like its turning back on and just goes back to sleep.  Someone mentioned a similar problem where they believe the laptop is not sending the correct DPI to the monitor causing it to not be able to display the output.  They mentioned that doing a CTRL+ATL+DEL when the laptop lid is opened, and then closing it again works.  Thats works for me, but only once.  After that, if it sleeps, I have no monitor to use.  Only way to c... Hi Guys,  I'm the IT handiman at a local business. Things have been going okay, so they brought me a Yoga 2 Pro that they had abandoned because it's screen went weird so now it only shows colors.  So, when I turn on the computer, the display immediately starts cycling through colors. When I use an adapter to the micro HDMI, I can see the display on an external display. I can even change the display settings to essentially use the yoga as a computer tower log onto the computer like normal and enable RDP so I can get SOME use out of the machine as a server box, but that feels like a waste of a high performance machine. Video.  IDK what's wrong. If it was a graphics card or something, I would think that I wouldn't be able to use the external display. I'm not sure what's up or what to see about trying to order and replace.  Anyone have any idea what I should look at? I can make this laptop into the little print server we need, since it's not good for much else right now, but I'd rather get it back in service as a laptop and use a lower end machine for a simple print server.  Help me? Please?

Answer:Yoga 2 Display only showing colors. Seems to still work with external display.

I looks like a dead LCD display, or a dead ribbon cable to me, I had a similar issue with my C340, wasn't software related. You can try to contact Lenovo support, they may be able to repair it. http://support.lenovo.com

I'm able to boot into windows and, remembering key combinations, can shut down windows normally (Start key, U, U). So I think the system is booting up just fine. It's just that there is literally NO display. I've even tried to wait until I"m in windows, then open up the display manager (I assume....FN+F7), then scroll down to other video output options to try and force it to use an external monitor....that doesn't seem to create video output, though I'm fairly confident I'm getting the Display Manager to try and switch... Any thoughts?  Thanks! -Stephen

Hy everybody :)
So this problem occurs in 95% of time when external display is connected. Picture looks like it has artefacts, and color is all scrambled. Ati tools doesnt detect any artefacts, and restart of the system or waking up after standby "solves" the problem.
BIOS is latest, ram was upgraded from 1 to 2 GB, there is no difference which OS is used or which drivers are used (official or modded).

EDIT: Not long time ago I started playing battlefield2, and this happens often in this game but in no other (HAWX for example)
EDIT2:This corruption of display happens only on primary display, never on external.

So any ideas of how to solve this?
Thanks!!

hi Triu,
do you have changed the setting of the internal display device?
if you are exceeding the refresh rate such strange things will happen...
please try it and use the toshiba driver with the standard settings to test the system.

This happens as soon as the VGA adapter is plugged in. Unplugging it does not turn the laptop screen back on. Toggling with the function keys does nothing. Since I cannot see anything I cannot try to adjust/correct display settings (or do anything for that matter, other than turn the laptop off by holding power key down).

The second display works (tested with a different laptop).

History: The external display worked fine with this laptop. We had a power failure yesterday which turned it off. The screen toggled to the laptop successfully (or I did, with the function keys--I don't remember) and I continued working. When power returned I started running into this issue. I reinstalled the display drivers from the original manufacturer disc but the problem persists.

Answer:Laptop black when external display plugged in, #2 display also dark.

To shut down properly hit the Winkey, then the right arrow, then Enter.

This may be as simple as capacitors overcharged. Shut down, unplug, remove battery. Hold power button down for 20 secs.
Do same for monitor.
Then try.

title basically says it. what gives? i have a 24" lcd capable of 1920x1200 which is driven fine by itself, but in the mode with the internal laptop display on, the resolustion will not exceed 1024x768 in 16 bit on the external monitor... which looks terrible. this is via vga ... not the displayport. i could get the displayport cable though, since my external screen has hdmi. i would just need the converter i guess. but i'm not sure that would make a difference? my intel driver is dated 6/11/2008 6.14.10.4957 ... and i can't seem to update for some reason. again - not sure this has anything to do with it or not.  thanks!

Answer:x301 external display limited to 1024 x 768 when using interal display

Are you using XP or Vista... if you are using XP, please change the resolution using the Intel display driver tray, rather then the windows display property.

Hi, I have Thinkpad Edge E330 bought this July, with win8 downgraded to win7. It recently started a problem where the laptop's own display doesn't display anything (just blank) if I don't have external display connected. The external display doesn't have be in use, just connected, and E330's own display works fine. If I disconnect the external display, the E330's own display goes blank also. It doesn't matter what display setting I have. Any advice on this?Currently I'm not able to use my E330 as a laptop at all.

Answer:Edge E330 display not working without external display connected

Hi,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I?m sorry to hear that display in your Lenovo ThinkPad E330 is not working properly unless you connect it to an external display.

Have you tried using your machine in safe mode? If that works, try rolling back your display drivers or reinstall it.

Go to Lenovo Support page to download the latest drivers, Please click on "Select Product", then in "QUICK PATH" enter E330 and select the exact model depending on the MTM number of your device.

Hope this helps!

Best regards,
Mithun.

Hi

I have a G20 running XP Media Centre Edition with an Nvidia GeForce Go 6600. I have been using the 1440x900 setting up until now on the laptop's screen but have just bought a 22" monitor and am using that instead.

The problem is that the resolution of the monitor is 1680x1050 and I can't seem to be able to set that. The only options are 1440x900 or 1600x1200. Does anyone know how I can get the graphics chip to output 1680x1050?

Many thanks

Hello William

I have no experience with this but somewhere on this forum I have read similar topic. Before you wait here use advanced search option and use ?1680 x 1050? as searched term. I am pretty sure you will find this topic where one guy explained how to set 1680 x 1050 resolution on external monitor.

Good luck!

I have a weird issue with my G550 (which is out of warranty).  The screen flickers and distorts (fuzzy colours around objects on the screen).   If I flex the case in a certain way the problem goes away, it's hard to describe but if I apply pressure in a certain direction to the back left of the case it solves the issue... but as soon as I stop applying pressure it goes away.  I'm thinking it's a loose connection somewhere between the GPU and the display, but I'm not entirely sure where to look.  If I plugin in external displays they work fine, no flickering or distortion at all.

Answer:G550: Display flickers / distorts. External display fine.

hi deicist,

Welcome to the Lenovo Community.

If the LCD screen flickers when you open or close the lid or if tilt the LCD screen on a certain angle then the problem lies on the LVDS or LCD cable (possibly got worn out by opening/closing the lid alot of times). If you're interested in fixing it, you can get spare parts here:

I have a Dell XPS 13 laptop running Windows 10. I have just purchased a Dell U2515H monitor which I am waiting for delivery for as we speak. I believe the monitor has quiet a few inputs however I am not 100% sure which lead to get to connect them both and which port I use on the Dell Laptop. Looking on the left hand side of my laptop there is a port with a lightning sign next to it, is that called Thunderbolt? and is that my monitor/display port? and what lead do I need? it looks like some sort of micro socket!

The on-board LCD won't light up so I would like to use this as a desktop with an external monitor. I can get the laptop to extend the desktop so that it stretches the desktop across two monitors (the broken laptop LCD and the desktop monitor); but, what I need is for the laptop to duplicate the display on each monitor.

I cannot get it to do that, help!

My laptop screen  is broken, so I use an external VGA monitor. Today after I logged in I got an error "cortana and start menu not working" . I  searched on net for a solution and I found that safe booting would solve my problem. From msconfig I clicked on the safe boot option. After which I had to restart my PC. But after that  I am not getting any display on my external monitor. My laptop screen is also broken. So I am not able to use my laptop. Please help

Okay guys i have a puzzling one for you... I'm running my trusty Emachines E527 with Windows 8 RP. I was playing Minecraft on an external monitor (a TV) and I get a blue screen... no biggie I've dealt with these before. I do a hard reset and turn my computer back on and I don't get an image on my laptop screen. I take a flashlight to my screen ( I've had back light issues before thought it might happen again) and nothing... no image or anything. I decided to take it apart and use a voltage tester on the inverter to see if it's even sending power to it and I don't get a reading anywhere. Furthermore no external monitor hookup will display an image either

This must be a software error... though I don't get a boot splash either..

This one is beyond me.. someone on another forum suggested clearing the cmos. I only have a battery in there on my motherboard but it is soldered to the board itself... kinda hard to clear...

I leave on vacation tonight and I need my laptop so any help would be greatly appreciated....

x200t:  I am using v8.15.10.1968 driver for intel graphics adapter.: After upgrading the driver, I just plugged an external monitory, that has always worked fine, into my ultradock.  I get a pink screen on the external monitior.  I have tried multipe monitors, multiple cords, DVI and VGA.  No luck.  What is weird, on the 'windows is shutting down screen' the color is fine. I also tried to use the computer outside of the docking unit, and I get the pink screen when using the VGA connector on the side. The laptop screen displays correctly. Any ideas?  I am going to try and roll back the driver.

Answer:Pink Screen on External Display (v8.15.10.1968)

Here's something funnier... I installed the driver 8.15.10.1855 (version prior) and now my external display works.  But my LAPTOP screen is faded BLUE instead of a PINK!  Pretty funny.  Annoying.  But funny that one is pink, and one is blue. I am re-installing latest driver and will see what happens.

Dear all,in the presentation director, I have tried to establish a profile which would allow me to connect my T61 with nvidia quadro nvs 140m discrete graphics to a Samsung Syncmaster 215TW 22" screen with a native resolution of 1680x1050 through analogous VGA output.Whether I choose "extended desktop" mode or not, I can't get it working, there is always an error message appearing. The highest res possible through VGA seems to be 1440x900!On the other hand, via my advanced mini dock and DVI, there is no problem connecting it to the same monitor. The machine has all the latest updates (as provided by Thinkvantage System Update). Can you help me exploit the native resolution of my external screen? Helpful comments are greatly appreciated. Gavin

Hello, i am using a Belinea 2025 S1 as a second display to enhance the Desktop of my R61 ThinkPad (8918DEG). Max. resolution of the ThinkPad is 1680 x 1050 and max. resolution of the Belinea is 1400 x 1050. I tried to configure the system to use both displays with their max. resolution, but for the Belinea only 1280 x 1050 is used. The NVIDIA control panel allows to configure user-specific resolutions. When setting the user-specific resolution to 1400 x 1050 the test-screen appears and everything seems to be fine, but if i close the test-screen the program crashes. I restarted the program immediatedly and was able to change the resolution for the Belinea to 1400 x 1050. The problem is: This setting is gone after i reboot the ThinkPad. Can anyone help?  Note:The system is up to date; e.g. there is no newer version of the NVIDIA Controlcenter available. regards,  Robert

My ThinkPad T500 running 64-bit Windows 7 Professional Edition worked great on and off a mini docking station with 2 external monitors. The dual-display setup allowed me to have more desktop space; when needed, I can take the laptop off the docking station (following undocking steps) and use it anywhere. This convenience no longer holds after upgrading to Windows 10.

With the T500 in the docking station (LCD lid closed), I can use the dual-display setup as in Windows 7. However, after shut-down and remove the T500 off the docking station and the T500 laptop becomes unusable because its LCD display doesn't show anything after boot. (While booting the laptop's display shows the ThinkPad boot logo and then some DOS-mode boot messages and then the windows 10 logo and its dotted spinning wheel; after the initial boot the display went blank and the Windows 10 desktop doesn't come up.)

The only way to make the T500 laptop usable on its own is to go through a "preparation procedure" and here is how the procedure goes: While the T500 is on the docking station in the dual-display setup with the 2 external monitors, open the T500's lid and set its display as the main display and then select to disconnect the other 2 external displays (in the Settings -> System -> Display page); then , in the T500's LCD display, select the shut down. So the thinkpad yoga looks great.. When are they going to upgrade the yoga 2 pro to a thinkpad yoga 2.  12.5 screen is to small for my day to day (even with 21" external hooked up.  And I want 500G SSD, Thinkpads are a lot less business friendly then they used to be.. what happened? Answer:Thinkpad Yoga: Pen and External Display (pen on wrong display)

X series have always had a small 12 inch convertible laptop. X41t to X230t have all being around 12 inch. So ThinkPad Yoga has continued the tradition of offering 12 inch screen size. You can easily do the hdd upgrade yourself, i have put a 1 tb ssd in my ThinkPad Yoga, and it has been fantastic. I guess that is the benefit of the ThinkPad Yoga with its 2.5 inch hdd slot, compared to other tablets that use PCI-e or M.2. SSD standards.

I am very happy with my ThinkPad Yoga S1 and do like very much the digitizer pen capability. It works well (given some calibration issues) when the Yoga works without an external display. However, as soon as an external display is connected, the pen outputs always on the external display (and not the internal).

I have the yoga connected through OneLink Pro, and an external monitor connected to the display port. I am using both the internal screen as well as the external screen in the extended mode (i.e. not duplication). When I use the pen on the yoga screen, the actions appear on the external display (and not on the yoga screen). This is very confusing, as the pen actions don?t appear where I apply them.

I?ve attempted to set the yoga screen as the main screen, but did not have success. Also using DVI instead of display port did not help. I also tried it with three displays (internal, DVI, DP) all in the extended mode (it is nice that these setup as possible by the way), but the pen still it appears on the display port monitor.

In order to use the pen meaningfully, I do have to disconnect all external monitors and work only with the yoga screen.

Anybody has seen this? Is this an issue of the pen driver (all updated to the latest state) or the operating system (Windows 8.1, 64bit)?

Thanks for any help in advance!

I've tried searching the forums but haven't been able to find anyone with the same problem, so if a thread already exists and I just failed at finding it please point me in that direction.

I have a Lenovo L440 laptop running Windows 10 1607, it has an Intel HD Graphics 4600 video card which lists the last available driver as 15.40 from the 23rd of June 2017.

It has an issue where I connect a projector and I get the flashing display to indicate another display was detected and connected, but nothing displays out to the projector (which is set to use the correct input). I press the shortcut to duplicate the displays and nothing happens. I go in to display settings, and see 5 displays (give or take depending on the laptop) despite only one external one being connected. If I tell it to use displays 1 and 2, nothing, so disable display 2. Then tell it to use displays 1 and 3, nothing, so disable display 3. Repeat this process enough time, it'll eventually come to the display the projector is configured as (sometimes having to add additional displays to what was being shown originally).

It's OK for me to do this as I'm the IT guy, but it's not OK for the staff to do this.

Here is a sample screenshot from another machine with the same problem. Only one external screen (2 in total) is connected.

Some machines with more up to date video cards such as Intel 540's have had driver updates putting them to 15.46, and the problem is thus resolved. It's back to behaving as expected fo... Read more

Hello dear forumities, This is my first post, and yes I confess I didnt use the search option, but I am just frustrated because of not finding a solution for over a week on the net and finally I decided to ask here. I own a G510 laptop with dual GPUOne is Intel HD 4800 bla bla.. The other one is AMD R7 M265 Recently I bought a new external monitor and plugged it from HDMI port of my laptop.I am using that laptop mostly for games, and from the first moment I realised the graphics are not good.I couldt play my games on high settings like I play on the laptop. The fps goes down the toilet.First I thought because the monitor is 26" and my max resolution cannot reach 1080p on laptop screen but can on monitor, it is hard for the GPUs to render that images on the monitor. But after a while the laptop started having heating problems, and after that `GPU device stopped and restarted` errors. Finally after a week and trying every possible software solutions, like drivers, installing, uninstalling etc etc...I finally discovered that my AMD GPU doesnt work with monitor. The image on the monitor comes form intel HD GPU only.. AMD doesnt work.. simple.. When I go back to playing on laptop screen, everything goes back to normal. Can you guys give me a solution for this... Thanks in advance...

On other laptops I've used, I've been able to see my laptop screen while simultaneously projecting to an overhead or external monitor. I can use F5 to toggle between screen, external, or simultaneous. This works great for presentations. With my A70, however, I can only toggle for screen or external/projector, not both simultaneously.

Any help on solving will be appreciated.

Yoga 2 Pro won't display on External Screen (thru micro HDMI): Did Lenovo ever respond to this? If there was a Lenovo-specific micro HDMI that Lenovo would sell me that would fix this, I'd happily buy it. Otherwise, I am going to have to toss this Lenovo because the 13" screen is not feasible for the work I do, and I will warn other people that this issue makes the lenovo not a feasible product for work.

Any ideas on how to force this resolution?

Answer:Tecra M7: Cannot set the 1680x1050 screen resolution on external display

Hi

Are you sure that the graphic card supports this high resolution!?
Hopefully it?s not a hardware limitation?

But mostly if the display resolution is not available the graphic card driver does not support this screen resolution.
In such case only the new driver installation and usage could help?

What graphic card is installed on your notebook? Intel graphic card chip???
If you use a Intel graphic card then I would recommend visiting the Intel page and search for an compatible driver on this page. Some user here in the forum reported that the Intel drivers could help to choose the favorite resolution.

My U330 has recently developed a problem where if I connect an external display (ie projector) and select the dual display using the "Fn F3" short cut, the LCD screen will flicker for a couple of seconds and then it'll go dark.  I can tell that the lcd is still on..but I don't see anything.  The only way I can fix it is by restarting the computer by holding down the power button.  Has anybody else experienced this problem?

Hello all,

I recently installed an outdoor LED screen at my premises for advertising my business.

The screen is 3m x 3m in size. The manufacturers of the screen gave me software to allow me to play media on. This works perfectly fine and at the right resolution.

But, I recently tried to stream a live game on the screen. I have not been able to get the right resolution and the outdoor screen only displays a portion of what's playing on the desktop.

I will be extremely grateful for any help.

I just recieved my Yoga 2 Pro but I cannot get it to display out the micro HDMI port.  I want to extend my desktop to a Samsung 24 inch monitor (S24C750P) but it won't work.  The monitor acts like there is something connected to it and windows claims to have detected the monitor and the appropriated resoulutions (EDID), but i see nothing but a blank screen.

I know my cable and monitor work well.  They are both brand new and I have been using them with multiple other computers just fine.

Anyone else experience this?  Any suggestions? Any fixes?

Answer:Yoga 2 Pro won't display on External Screen (thru micro HDMI)

I have done more troubleshooting and found out that if I push and lift the cable plugged into the micro hdmi port on the Yoga 2 Pro then I get a video connection.  It seems that the female hdmi port on the laptop is quite recessed.  I am using a new RocketFish micro hdmi to hdmi cable (RF-AP316).  It seems like the cable male plug is not long enough to fit in the female port (some women have big problems with this).  The bezel of the plug is absolutely flush with the side of the labtop unlike the usb and power plugs that "bottom out" in their female connectors and show a slight space between the bezel of the plug and the side of the laptop.  IT seems that he micro hdmi male plug is not bottoming out in the female port which is preventing a good connection.  This seems like it could be a design flaw with the laptop as I believe most cables will have this problem.  But if I apply vertical pressure to the plug it gives me the video on the monitor.  The new Yoga 2 Pro has a ruberized material around the sides of the laptop to provide good grip and protection when in stand mode etc, and this is what creates the space between the port and the plug.  I will try to go buy another cable but have little faith it will work.  Worth a try though.  Will post my findings.

My boss is putting a quick program for me together and I believe he's writing it in VB. Before I passed out, he was attempting to use the registry to provide him with the external address for any given computer. Meaning, the IP address of the router, if their is a router (IP address for the computer(s) attached to the Internet). This is simply going to be displayed in a message box with a couple buttons (he called it a form).

He had no luck getting the address out of registry, so we were thinking of putting together a quick html file to put on one of our own servers, then this little program he's writing would access that URL to obtain the needed IP address.

In effect, we're trying to do the same as what you would achieve if you were to visit www.whatismyip.com and just get the address from there. But, we don't want a browser window to open, and would like the IP address to be cleanly embedded into the form. Anybody know of an easy way to do this?

My internal monitor for my t430 is dead.  In order to show the boot screen on the external monitor, I believe I need to enter bios to change Boot Mode from UEFI to Legacy, similar to the solution here: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-B-and-G-Series-Notebooks/Lenovo-Boot-screen-not-displayed-on-ext.... However, I do not know the sequence of keystrokes and do not want to use keystrokes for another bios that might not share the same layout.  Can anyone tell me the keystokes to change Boot Mode from UEFI to Legacy on the T430.  A Youtube video of the bios layout would be awesome.

I have an N580 that I purchased about 9 months ago. Last night, the screen went completely white, and upon reboot, the screen instantly comes up white.  After trying many of the troubleshooting steps seen throughout the interwebs for this, I tried plugging the VGA into a known good external monitor, but the LCD remains white, and Function F7 does not switch the display over to the external monitor.  I am thinking that this must be the graphics chip, as the backlighting still seems to work, and the display won't transfer to external monitor. Any other suggestions? Also, what are my options seeing that this is within the 1 year warranty?

Answer:N580 white screen, external display also does not work

Hello, I have a HP pavillion Dv9308nr laptop, hooked up through s video to my panasonic plasma as an external display. This issue did not happen with same exact set up before I upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate from Vista ultimate. So it has something to do with windows 7. Heres what happens. Every time I open a new folder, application, file, or web page the external display flashes. I can tell it is disconnecting for a split second because my TV shows the input notice on the screen as if I just switched to that input. This also happens randomly every couple minutes or so. I looked this up on google and found that the Transient Multimon Manager can cause this and it said if Im using the external display only and not switching back and forth that I should disable TMM, which I have done. I think it might have something to do with the graphics drivers compatibility with windows 7. When I try to install the recommened driver through windows or Nvidia it gets all the way to the install and then says not for this OS. Other than this issue Im loving 7, and since I cant go back to vista without a clean install Im stuck trying to figure out whats causing this, and if theres anything I can do about it. Thanks in advance for any ideas and suggestions and God Bless.

Answer:Screen flash/ disconnect on external display & laptop

UPDATE: Ok, this makes no sense at all to me, but it worked. I decided since I was getting graphics driver compatibilty error message when I did windows update to try to roll it back. So I did this, and the screen got worse, but it showed that the driver was the exact same one, same date, same edition. So I did a restore to previous point. Fixed the new screen issue, then went back to the rollback again to see if it would rollback this time. Rebooted, screen looked ok. Checked the driver date and issue, still the same one. But the flashing is GONE. I have no idea what I did. Ive rolled the graphics driver back in the past and it showed an older date and older edition number. But this time it stayed the same but fixed the problem. Anyway I created a new restore point which Ill use if the issue comes back.

What would be the steps to solve this?  On the external display the machine seems to run great.  I bought a new IPS screen and it looks to be in great condition.  I have no way to compare it with another screen that I know of as I only have this one (received laptop w/o a screen) and would prefer to not spend $50-$75 to test this.  My guess is that the screen is fine. 1) Check and reseat cables?2) Purchase new LCD cables?3) Remove everything (ram, hd, etc) and see if it posts?  Currently do not hear any beeps.  ... etc?  anything simple and obvious I'm missing?  Is there any way to test the screen without purchasing another one? It is NOT the duplicate/extend setting.  I have -- on the external monitor -- set it to duplicate, primary only, etc, and it had no effect.  thanks!

I have a new T400 (less than 1 month old) with the shared memory Intel Graphics setup and I cannot get it to work with an external display of any kind. I've tried 2 LCD panels (one widescreen, and one 4:3), 2 analog monitors, and a video projector without any luck.  All of the displays I have tried work fine with my older Lenovo R61. I've updated to the newest display drivers and tried working with the various settings under Graphics properties in Vista - Single Display (notebook, monitor), Intel Dual Display, Extended Desktop, etc.  The best I got was a cloned image on the larger widescreen LCD panel that appeared for about 1 minute and then stopped.  I recreated this 4 or 5 times, but the image would not stay on the external display. Any ideas? Thanks,

Hello everyone I'm a new owner of the Yoga 720 15''. I've just bought apple thundebrolt 3 to thunderbolt 2 adapter and tried to connect external display using miniDP -> DP cable but with no luck. The same DP cable and monitor works ok on my MacBook (early 2015 with thunderbolt 2 ports). Computer sees the adapter (it's visible in the "printers and other devices" panel) but nothing is shown on my external display (it behaves like there is no cable connected to it and goes to sleep after few minutes). I've seen on various online stores that the apple adapter should work with my laptop. Is there something that I'm missing or maybe my T3 -> T2 adapter is broken? Thanks! Marcin

I bought a DisplayPort to HDMI cable to connect my X220 to my TV. It transfers image and audio, but the image on the TV is cut off at all 4 edges. I have tried cycling through over 10 different resolutions, but the problem doesn't go away. I'm wondering if anyone else is having this problem? I have experienced this on 2 different TVs so far, so I think the problem would either lie with the cable or the X220s display drivers. I cannot check for sure which it is as the X220 is the only device I have that has a DisplayPort.

Answer:X220 External display problem

Look in your TV's options for something called "overscan", "pixel ratio", "1:1"...

BTW, can you share what cable you bought that transfers audio? I've tried two displayport to hdmi converters already and I cant get one to pass audio.

Hello I just bought a U330 and I am having problem using it with my external monitor attached via VGA. The laptop won't let me set the maximum resolution as 1920 by 1200. Every time I try to force it to display at 1920 x 1200 resolution, it will simply go to 1600 by 1200. In addition the display also flickers a lot as if the drivers are trying to change the resolution randomly. I've tried connecting through the HDMI port with some success and I was able to get 1920 x 1200 resolution. However a new problem arose. Every time i get past the login screen, my laptop screen turns black and nothing gets displayed. The HD is still clicking and I am sure that the programs are still running but the screen is black?Has anyone else had this problem? I am thinking the ATI drivers are just crap either that or the video card on my laptop is just malfunctioning? FYI I am using a westinghouse L2410 24" Display.

Answer:U330 External display problem.

I suggest VGA as not great choice for !920[1200 resolution - analog interfaces are not great for this. You should better use HDMI.Anyway, try switching to another videocard - this may also help with your black screen situation. As a method I'd switch to it in BIOS.

I have a brand new X200S (windows XP Pro), docking station and an older IBM external display (which I used until now with a X31).When I start the PC, the external display works first until log-in. AFter log-in the external display becomes black and the power LED stays green, blinking. If I open the cover of the X200S the image appears on the external display. When I close it it disappears.Often when I switch off and back on the notebook, the external display becomes black even before I can log-in.I need to turn on, and off, my PC 4 to 6 times until (for no obvious reason) the external display works properly: Any idea where is the problem????

I hooked up a 22" LCD to my Dell Vostro 1400 (with GeForce 8400M GS running Vista Business) and use the LCD as an external display. Originally I used the Nvidia Control Panel to set it so that the primary display and single display used was the external LCD, which the control panel recognized fine. I could close the lid of my laptop and use the LCD as a monitor with no problems.Recently, I went through some resolution altering when setting up a game, and now whenever I close the lid of the laptop, I get a "out of range" problem on my LCD and no image shows up. However, opening the lid of the laptop allows the picture to come back on the LCD, although the laptop screen is black. I run the LCD at 1680x1050 at 59 hertz refresh and the laptop screen runs with a 1200x800 resolution at 60hz refresh (the LCD can display 60hz).I tried System Restore and that didn't work. How can I get my external LCD working again with the laptop lid closed?EDIT: I fixed the problem by booting into safe mode. While I didn't do anything in safe mode, when I rebooted normally, this problem went away.

Hey guys, I recently purchased a micro hdmi to hdmi cable for an external display monitor with my Yoga 3 Pro however after connecting the laptop to the external display, I receive a 'No Signal' message on the external display. When the cable is not plugged into the external display, it says 'Check Signal Cable' therefore I know the external display can recognize when it is plugged into the laptop. I have read other forums regarding cutting back the plastic on the micro hdmi cable for further extension of the male end into the micro hdmi port however continue to experience 'No Signal' messages. Also in my display settings the laptop will not detect another monitor and graphics properties states there is only the single laptop display. Any suggestions will help, thanks!

Hi! I've connected external display to R61i (8932 model)  with a native resolution 1600x900 but the highest resolution I can set up is 1440x900. Is there any way to use 1600x900 resolution?Graphics is GM965 and both graphic drivers and bios are the latest versions.

Answer:external display resolution problem

My guess is that the GM965 (X3100) can't handle 1600x900 on the VGA port (haven't actually tried it, but I wouldn't expect it to work.) Even if it did, it  would probably be extremely slow.

Hi Guys,
I have a HP DV9000 series laptop which i have connected to my LCD TV using a 15 pin D-Sub cable which has worked fine for over 8 months. Suddenly yesterday the display is messed up as there is no red component on the external LCD.

1. The display on the laptop screen is just fine... no problem at all
2. I have connected another laptop using the same cable to the same LCD TV and it works fine
3. It cannot be a driver issue as the HP boot logo screen is also affected
4. I have booted with a Live Linux CD and the display is still messed up.

Troubleshooting done:
1. Not a cable issue as the other laptop connected with the same cable works fine
2. Not a TV issue as above
3. Not a display card hardware issue as Laptop screen is fine
4. Not a driver issue as display messed up even before the OS loads and also tried Linux.
5. Cleaned vga out port on the lappy still no luck

PS: My laptop is out of warranty :-(

Hi everyone.  I have previously had 2 external monitors working as well as my W520's screen, so 3 screens in total.  A few days ago  Windows 7 crashed with a BSOD and now I can only connect 2 screens at once. Everyhting seems to be connected correctly as far as i can tell   This is the error I now get when trying to activate the 3rd screen.    Is there another driver I need to install to reenable the laptop monitor to work along witht the two external screens? Any help is appreciated.  Like the song says... 'you dont know what you've got till its gone'. Thanksshane

Answer:W520 wont display 2 external monitors and laptop screen

Why isn't the second Acer external monitor (2 of 2) "checked" as well? Don't you want all three screens in use?? How DID you have your monitors connected before the BSOD problem caused your current situation?  Do you have the two Acer monitors daisy-chained via DP from the DP connector out of the K1000M on the laptop?  And you were also using the laptop screen as the third?  If so, I'd think that all three boxes would need to be checked in nVidia Control Panel.

When I connect my Dell XPS 13 9350 laptop with QHD display to an external monitor through the DA200 USB-C to HDMI connector the external monitors flicker constantly (laptop is fine-no flickering). Sometimes it works for like an hour then starts to flicker or longer so its not consistent. Below are the troubleshooting steps Dell has walked me through (including sending me a new DA200 part) to no avail:
- Dell has sent me a new DA200 USB C to HDMI part
- They have upgraded the Thunderbolt drivers and all other relevant drivers to latest ones (as of June 15 2016)
- I have tried on different monitors (5-6) and tried different HDMI cables.
Dell doesnt seem to know what to do now. THey have refunded my DA200 part purchase and told me to buy a separate HDMI to USB-C cable to test. If that fails it seems they will replace the motherboard. They say it could be an issue with the external monitors not being compatible with QHD, but this is not documented anywhere (they admit) and I havent heard anyone else having this problem on the internet and surprised every single person using this setup has QHD external monitors. This is an unworkable situation for me as I work in PC labs all day connected to external monitors.
Any advice?

I was moving our Dell Studio 17 laptop and the screen went blank. I thought it did a power save or something. But I could not get it redisplay anything..no flickers, nothing.

I rebooted, nothing.

I opened up the back and reseated the ram and verified the hard drives were secure. I vacuumed out any dust. No difference.

So I tried using the HDMI with our TV and it displays just fine. I try to toggle the screen (function F8 on my laptop) and it makes no difference. HDMI is always shown.

In the past when we use the HDMI to display netflix movies on our TV, I hookup the HDMI and the laptop automatically switches to the HDMI display and turns off the laptop display. When I unplug the HDMI, it wouldnt turn the laptop screen back on. I would have to reboot with the HDMI disconnected for the display to come back.

Now rebooting doesnt not bring the screen back.

Anything else to try? are there settings somewhere forcing the laptop to not send info to its own screen? BIOS?

This laptop has an ATI card and uses the latest drivers. It does have the Catalyst control center where it detects the displays. It seems the 'unknown' laptop screen and TV (when HDMI is connected, the only way I can see the screen at this time)..but it calls them duplicates and calls both of them #1 display.

Thanks for the help

I am working from home instead of my office and I am using a Dell 22" monitor with my T400 (Vista x64) and when I set the resolution to 1680x1050 (optimal/max resolution for the Dell Monitor), the usable screen area is shifted three inches to the right leaving an unusable black bar down the left side of the monitor. At my office I nomally use a docking station and a 22" monitor running at 1680x1050 and have never had a problem there. I have updated & reinstalled my ATI drivers from Lenovos site twice now and not sure where to go from here. Tried using Presentiation Director to no avail either. Also I tried using the ATI Catalyst Control Center but the program never opens, even after reinstall. Also of interesting note, is that if I set the resolution lower to say 1440x900 or any other supported lower resolution the display works just fine at those resolutions. Moderator note: Type added to subject line for clarity. Hi buddy,

That means your external display is recongized properly in display driver menu?!
Have you tried to extend or clone the display in display driver? Normally the external monitor should show a picture?

Have you checked if other FN keys work? Maybe Value Added Package must be reinstalled that controls the FN keys.

[email protected], hopefully someone can help.  I got a Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro 13 80HE004LGE for half a year.  Intel Core M-5Y70 1.1 GHz + Intel HD Graphics 5300, Kerntakt: 100-850 MHz, Dual-Channel, 20.19.15.4444 I used it with an external DELL 24" screen in extension setup WUXGA 1920 x 1200 pixel. Worked without any problem. Now changed the screen: DELL 27" (Dell U2713HM) . This screen should be able to provide WQHD 2560 x 1440 pixel but max I can choose in the set up (Win 10) is Full HD 1920 x 1080 pixel. I did the full program; 1. deleting drivers (Graphic and Monitor) reinstalled newest versions provided from Lenovo/Dell website,2. tried 3 different cables (HDMI and DVI), no differences :-(3. Installed Dell SetUp tool4. Installed intel set up tool (Could enter the high resolution manually here as personal setting, but does not work either) Nothing helped :-( screent stays on 1920 x 1080 :-( This 27" screen was running connected to a MacBook Pro without any problem in max. resolution 2560 x 1440 before.  Due to my research the Intel HD 5300 should be able to handle 2560 x 1440. Looking forward to helpful repliesDennis

After installing the 1.19 BIOS the external Acer X233H flat panel (1920 x 1080) is horribly unstable.  I used it instead of the T400s LCD via a docking station.  The Acer display is unusable - it appears to get and lose synchonisation every few milliseconds.  It is always like this during boot and after windows 7 x64 comes up.  Once booted if I go to the T400s LCD, and back to the Acer it will usually settle down.  The BIOS readme states the BIOS fixes some external display problems, but it seems to have caused others. There does not appear to be a way to back off to the older BIOS.  Is that correct?  No older BIOS files were visible on the downloads page.  I also tried to reinstall 1.19 just in case, but the clever utility says I already have it and stops there.

Answer:T400s - 1.19 BIOS Problem w/external display

1. are you using the displayport, dvi, or vga port on the thinkpad.2. does the problem occur if you are using the T400s own displayport or vga.

Acer 1692 laptop; Centrino; WinXT home, all upgrades; BIOS Phoenix S3A18

Yesterday morning, for no obvious reason, the display during POST and BIOS password was through the external VGA socket, NOT using the normal screen.

After WinXP starts it displays using the normal laptop screen and everything runs fine.

I cannot see where to amend a setting to display the BIOS POST normally on the inbuilt screen.

Acer say I need to send the PC to them for major repair. Can that be right?

Hello dear forumities,

This is my first post, and yes I confess I didnt use the search option, but I am just frustrated because of not finding a solution for over a week on the net and finally I decided to ask here.

I own a G510 laptop with dual GPU
One is Intel HD 4800 bla bla.. The other one is AMD R7 M265

Recently I bought a new external monitor and plugged it from HDMI port of my laptop.
I am using that laptop mostly for games, and from the first moment I realised the graphics are not good.
I couldt play my games on high settings like I play on the laptop. The fps goes down the toilet.
First I thought because the monitor is 26" and my max resolution cannot reach 1080p on laptop screen but can on monitor, it is hard for the GPUs to render that images on the monitor. But after a while the laptop started having heating problems, and after that `GPU device stopped and restarted` errors.

Finally after a week and trying every possible software solutions, like drivers, installing, uninstalling etc etc...
I finally discovered that my AMD GPU doesnt work with monitor. The image on the monitor comes form intel HD GPU only.. AMD doesnt work.. simple.. When I go back to playing on laptop screen, everything goes back to normal.

Can you guys give me a solution for this...

Thanks in advance...

Hi,       I have Lenovo T61 of Type 7662, Model CTO. One month back the right hinge of my laptop has broken. Now the display on the screen is not at all readable. If I reboot the laptop, it is getting loaded, but the display on the screen is not readable and also it is displaying 4 windows without any clear visibility.      I thought the problem may be with the LCD cable under Right hinge. So, I tried to check this with an external monitor. But, the same problem is occurring on the external monitor also. So, I couldn't find what exactly the problem is. If anybody has this kind of problem, please help me on fixing this issue. Thanks,RamPap.

I've got the Nvidia 195.62 drivers, but windows still shows a max resolution of 1600x1200 for a 1920x1080 lcd screen.  I'm using the VGA out. This is frustrating.

Answer:T61 Problem: Getting external monitor to display 1920x1080 through VGA

Which windows version do you use?I think if  windows recognizes your monitor, it would be okey.
