Lenovo messed up my wireless card on my new laptop and refuses a reasonable solution?!

Question: Lenovo messed up my wireless card on my new laptop and refuses a reasonable solution?!

I received the new Thinkpad x61s yesterday, ordered 3 weeks ago. I had chosen the Intel wireless wifi link 4965AGN for it, but when I received it yesterday I found they actually installed a 4965AG. This is shown in all the places: the system information, the device manager, as well as the sticker on the bottom of the laptop. I have created screen shots to show the information, though I don't see anyway to attach the files here. I called Lenovo yesterday as soon as I found the problem. I thought the two obvious solutions would be to either send back the laptop for replacement of the wireless card by IBM/Lenovo, or to have them send me the correct card and I replace it by myself. Since the model is still being offered on sale, they certainly have the 4965AGN card. I was transferred back and forth on the phone between various depts. The last rep yesterday said they couldn't replace the card for me (why? "because it's just not how we do it." Instead they do put the wrong card?), nor can they send me a replacement card (said it would void warranty if I install it myself, which contradicts another rep. Could someone please confirm either way?). He said I had to either return the laptop for refund or get credit for the difference between the two cards. Neither of these is what I would like to accept. And I find it neither reasonable nor necessary. I called them today again. The rep I got today looked at my order and claimed what I ordered was exactly what I have received! He claimed they did ship to me the AGN card because he saw the part number on the order list! I told him what he was seeing was what's supposed to be shipped to me but not actually what I received. He insists it was what I received! He says the only solution is for me to return the laptop for full refund. I am very upset. 1. Lenovo should admit they do make mistakes, they do sometimes put in wrong parts in some orders. If they are not convinced the card installed in my computer was wrong, they can ask me to send the computer to them to check it and then replace the card, or I can email them the screen shots I have taken of the system information shown on my computer, which shows the wireless adapter info. 2. If they installed a wrong part in a computer and shipped it to a customer, why should the only solution be for the customer to return the whole computer for refund, not for replacement of the part? Why should the customer get punished by returning the order, after weeks of research on the product before ordering, and 3 weeks of waiting for delivery, just because Lenovo made this mistake, which is not so hard to correct? What can I do to have Lenovo correct its mistake, and not to have me void my order?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Lenovo messed up my wireless card on my new laptop and refuses a reasonable solution?!

I understand your frustration, but there is a thing I don't get it. By the fact that Intel doesn't have pcie network adapter card model 4965AG. They have only 4965AGN, which is the one you are supposed to get, and 3945BG/ABG for 802.11b/g or 802.11a/b/g consecutively. I suspect 4965AG is typo or something? but this way it's pretty hard for Lenovo to believe you as well. The question is how you can identify your network card then? If device manager really says that, you may like to update driver.I recommend you get into this card properties in device manager and check for Hardware Ids, for 4965AGN it should be VEN_8086&DEV4230&SUBSYS_11108086. If it's really a wrong one, I don't see that you couldn't get a replacement. The worst case is you may have to ship your unit back to repair center, I guess. note: I'm not related to Lenovo in anyway! I was pissed about their service too/ Edited: I was totally wrong. There is 4965AG. It's basically the same one with 802.11n disabled. However, it's not the same part number. 42T0865, 42T0867, 42T0869, 42T0871, 42T0905 : Intel PRO/Wireless 4965AGN (11n enabled)42T0873, 42T0875, 42T0877, 42T0879, : Intel PRO/Wireless 4965AGN (11n disabled) First, you have to check this part number on the box to see if it matches 11n disabled. Then check with your order and it's time to call them again. Message Edited by sipp11 on 01-21-2009 01:56 PM

I have a very annoying issue wherein the small rubber V-shaped or triangular pegs attached to the base of the extended battery of my U150 have come off; so now the laptop wobbles when I type. I've called the service center (Philippines not India), they were very nice and courteous, but had no replacement part number so they cannot replace the part even if I am under warranty! How ridiculous is that?!?!  It would be so easy to mail me a pair of pegs and I would simply superglue it on the base.  What they offered is even more absurd!  They want me to give them a $90+ deposit to send them my whole battery pack (that is working just fine) which they are willing to replace in order to get the new legs on it.  We're talking about a pair of pegs worth no more that 25-US-cents!!!  Does anyone have any solutions? Or is there some other mystical resource to get these rubber pegs replaced? This issue has been going on for two months, and Lenovo has not replied, emailed, nor called as promised by the customer service receptionist who said they would refer my claim to Lenovo.

Hello, I am having trouble with my daughters laptop. It will only connect if I am like 5 feet from my router. This is the only laptop or device, I am having problems with. I have uninstalled and re-installed the latest drivers for the card and she is running Windows 8 64bit edtion. It has a Atheros AR9485WB-EG wireless card installed. She told me she has been having problems on and off for a while now, but neglected to tell me since she did not use it much before now. Does anybody know what cards this can be replaced with. I heard only certain cards will work with this laptop or bios. Any help would be extremely welcomed and appreciated. Thanks

Just a heads up for peoplep with/getting this laptop, or to see if anyone else has experienced this... I was sitting in my living room listening to spotify, and the wireless just died in an instant. First said it had limited connectivity, eventually rebooted, and any trace of a wireless device on this laptop is completely gone.  Lenovo better send me a laptop before I send this one back, i can't afford to not have a computer for 4 weeks while I wait for them to figure their lives out.

My laptop doesn't always recongnise my wireless network card. (lenovo z570 broadcom wireless adaptor bcm4313) I've tried installing: wirless lan drivers, bios update, Intel Management Engine Interface Driver and Intel AHCI Drivers, yet to no avail (I assume the wireless drivers "silently install" there is on a script in my tray). The wireless light always is on when the computer boots up, however just as it goes onto the next screen (after the bios has loaded?) it turns off sometimes. When this happen there is no wireless adaptor in devices manager. Usually need to reset bios to original settings to fix it. When the laptop has recognised the wireless card it soon goes to limited access in network manager (after 5 mins of browsing). I've tried to disable and enable the network card in Device manager, this left my computer in a frozen state. I've played with hardblock and softblock. fn f5 etc... Can anyone help diagnose my problem I'm stumped.

My acer laptop has recently been fighting with me when I try to connect to wireless networks. Irrespective of what network I attempt to connect to, Windows only gets as far as "Identifying... (Network name here) No internet access"

I know for a fact that the networks I am attempting to join work, as other devices are connecting without issue.
I have tried updating my Wifi card (Atheros AR5B125) drivers, to no avail.

Any suggestions?

Answer:Laptop refuses to connect to wireless

Gonna take a guess you're using Win7. I have an Acer Netbook with an Atheros card and it gives me some odd troubles now and then.

Usually, the best fix is to simply reinstall the drivers. You could also try Windows troubleshooting guides but I highly doubt that'll get you anywhere.

If all else fails, you may need to get inside your laptop to ensure that the card is inserted properly, with both wires connected to it securely.

HI all, I have a lenovo laptop that is almost exactly a year old and it WILL NOT stay connected to the internet neither by wifi nor LAN. It will connect sometimes for 10 mins, sometimes for ten seconds. I can turn the computer off, restart it, close all other programs, diagnose connection, disable and restart adapters, nothing works for very long. I dont believe it is the internet as my Xbox, my desktop and my phone all connect fine through both wireless and wired connections. There are also two other laptops on the house that connect just fine (not windows 7 machines tho) my desktop is also windows 7 and sporadically has this problem as well. I have tried going to barnes and noble and starbucks to try different internet and still the same thing happens. Very Frustrating, please help if you can

Hi Munendra06,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

If you're trying to load a bootable CD or USB , Here's is what you need to do.

1. Boot into the BIOS and set the following settings:

Exit Tab:
OS Optimized Defaults = Win7 OS

When finished, hit Load default settings (just right above it) then set these additional settings:

Security Tab:
Secure Boot = Disabled

Boot Tab:
Boot Mode = Legacy
Boot Priority = Legacy First

Plug in now your USB or Put your CD in

2. When finished, hit Fn+F10 to save and exit.
3. Restart the computer and start tapping F12 to pull up the boot menu, There you can select the CD/DVD or USB.

This should let you select Legacy devices
Hope this helps
Cheers!

Good Afternoon,

I have been working on and searching for solutions to my issue for the better part of a week. I have found nothing that is exactly the same, and any solution that I have come upon has not fixed the issue.

A little history:

A friend of mine asked me to look at their computer as she had an issue with printing, and then did some sort of restore installation, lost wireless, and then her computer BSOD, shut down and would hang at starting windows with a reboot loop.

I used chkdsk and SFC to check things, and ultimately used 'load last working configuration' to get the computer to boot.

So far, so good. At least I got back in.

I have been trying to get the wireless to reconnect since then. A wired connection does work.

From the event logs, I can see that there are two errors that crop up on each boot. The first is that Extensible Authentication Protocol service terminated with the following error: The system cannot find the file specified.
The second is that The WLAN AutoConfig service depends on the Extensible Authentication Protoco which failed to start.

The error for WLAN if I try to start it from the services.msc program is 1068, and the error if I try to start EAP is error 2.

I am at wits end. I have found that eapsvc.dll is present (and I actually replaced it from the install disc) in windows/system32, so that SHOULD be OK, I believe svchost.exe is OK, because it is present in windows/system32 and I get no specific errors related to it.

Does a... Read more

Answer:No Wireless on laptop computer err 1068, EAP refuses to start err 2

Last evening, I tossed in a Live CD of Ubuntu to see if the wireless worked if I took Windows out of the picture, basically testing the hardware, and the wireless connected without a hitch, so I have to assume that the hardware is fine.

I believe I have this listed in my profile, but the computer is a 4 month old Dell M2800 with an intel 7260 wireless card. I have the latest proset drivers installed from Dell, the wireless card shows up in the Device manager without issues (except the red X that shows it as disconnected) and it also showed up when I ran ipconfig /all, so there is something connecting to it.

Additionally, the intel proset driver troubleshooting shows a hardware fault and states something to the effect that the Wireless Adapter is not bound to the Transport Protocol.

Recently I performed a reinstallation of windows on my laptop. Normally I had no problems with the wireless, but after the reinstallation my laptop refuses to acknowledge that there are wireless networks. When I'm not connected to the internet, it asks to connect using a wire connection only.

I have a Dell Inspiron iM101z running Windows 7 Home Premium, and I downloaded all the drivers for what the Dell website told me my laptop model was, a Dell Inspiron 1121. Attached is a picture showing the oddities of my problem. The icon on the taskbar shows that I have to connect with an ethernet cord; no wireless icon is shown.

If I try to unplug the ethernet cable and connect to the internet, I only get the option to do a broadband connection. Also, once I unplug the cable, I get "no connections available."

Answer:Laptop refuses to detect anything wireless, ethernet works fine

Most likely this is still a driver problem.

hello, this is my first post on this forum. i am in need of some help regarding the windows 7 wireless settings.
a couple of days ago i downloaded the microsoft virtual wifi miniport software to attempt to connect to both my 4g connection on my android via tethering and also my home wifi network, i finished the download and ran the .msi or whatever file but couldnt figure out what exactly to do next, so instead i went online and downloaded net32(i think), i proceeded to install the software and upon completion received an error message telling me that the driver install failed, and that i needed to type "install driver" into the programs command prompt, right as i hit enter, my whole screen went black and i got a blue error box telling me windows shut down to protect my computer, so i restarted, and everything worked fine... up untill last night.

last night i was on tinychat.com and got banned, so i decided i wanted a proxy server type of deal to prevent this from happening, so i downloaded and installed hotspot sheild. the ****ing program never even connected, i went on their website with their live chat with a representative. i asked what i should do since it wasnt connecting to their servers, he ; John, told me to temporarily disable my firewall, so i did. still nothing, so he told me to disable my antivirus, so stopped the malwarebytes proccess tree, still nothing. next, he told me to go into my processes and close out anything that looked like it might block ... Is this a reasonable graphics card?

ATI RADEON 9800 Pro 256Mb AGP

It will be used with a Gigabyte 8VM800PMD-775 mobo

on a 2.8ghz celeron with 1gb Ram, 200gb hdd

regards,

Korrupt

Answer:Is this a reasonable graphics card?

How much does it cost?
I recommend a 6600GT video card. It should costly almost the same, and you get a lot more performance.

The two bad things are these:

a) You must have a good, quality 300-350 power supply, from a good, well-known manufacturer, with at least 20 A on the 12V rail, in order to have a stable computer.

b) The performance of a 9800 PRO or a 6600GT will be limited by your current CPU (is it a Celeron D or a Celeron?).

Good luck!

Hi! I have a Lenovo Y500 system, and i got some drivers I couldn't find so i downloaded the Solution Center software. While I found the missing drivers I also ran the tests if the hardware is OK. Everything else was fine except the second graphics card. It says only Warning and has a yellow triangle with exclamation mark next to all the tests it has done (The first video card on the other hand gives me green and says everything is ok). I also get a "result code" WVC00R000-DJ7B9K. There is no explanation for the code or no explanation about the warnings so I'm asking here if anyone knows whats going on and can it be fixed?

I have Comcast cable. The Motorola Surfboard modem is connected to my desktop via Ethernet cable. I occasionally have to work with friend's laptops, and need to connect to the Web wirelessly, so am considering getting a wireless router. Trouble is, I can't find much info on the Web that tells me what I need, and prices go from $25 to $1200. I figure I only need something very simple, since I have no home network or multiple computers throughout the house.

So, can anyone recommend a good and relatively inexpensive router? Review in PC World liked the Belkin N, but have no idea if that's suitable or overkill or what.

My wireless router does not seem to be working for Internet connectivty despite many reboots. It's (Netgear fm114p) been in use for less about 10 months. The only thing I can think of is I had some wiring work done to an electrical outlet. Since then, it started requiring power reboots during the day (due to losing a signal); then within the week (yesterday), the lights are not working correctly.

Thanks

I believe that I have an on-board graphics card installed on my computer. Previously I was able to use Google Earth, but for some unknown reason I was no longer able to use this programme. Various alternatives was advised via Google help and error messages, but none seem to work.My remaining alternative (according to Google) is to get a 'better' graphics card.Any suggestions for a straight forward replacement. Not into high speed gaming or fancy high capacity 3 D's. Something cheap and simple, with possible links would be ideal.Final question: Is it possible to fit an additional graphics card to on-board system!.

Yes it is possible for you to have additional graphics, you will have to disable your onboard graphics once you have a new graphics card.Do you know what expansion slots you have available so that suggestions for graphics cards can be suited to your needs.

To decode for Result code WMB01R010-RL7YJE , since this is an internal code best that you call in lenovo tech support for the recommendation and interpretation.

Would you experience any problems like freeze up or BSOD?
Are you using virtualization?

Can you try to check if virtualization is enable in the BIOS ,
To access the BIOS , turn off and use the One key botton or Novo key (item2 page 82) to power on .
Novo menu would offer BIOS set up , check on the Configuration/ Advance tab  to disable.
Similar discussion here .

Re run individual diagnostics online and if needed , to update LSC .

Running alternate diagnostics like belarc and speccy can also help if there is a synonymous error then have it reported immediately for recommended fix.

Hello people, Just wanted to share this, i have had problems since i got my laptop (single ATI graphic Card) that i couldn't update any of the ATI drivers/catalysts from ATI site. Yet i discovered lately that there is a simple way to actualy get the whole package to install. to do this you will need only a program called "Driver Genius Pro 10". install the app and let it update the graphic card driver "IT WILL INSTALL NORMALLY" i donnu why it does but it does i now have 10.12 installed with all it's features. mainly if i installed the package without the program it will only insall catalyst manager and HDMI audio only. but just try this and use express install when prompted and you will have latest drivers and trust me there is a huge difference. hope somone here finds why this only installs correctly via driver genius Pro 10 this only worked for my single driver laptop Corei7 ATI 5730 Y560 - i haven't tried on any switchable graphics laptop Regards, Ahmed Hassouna

I've just bought a new Acer laptop. It's got a built in webcam which I tried to use yesterday but it told me that I had no sound card so it wouldn't work. I am able to listen to music, etc on my PC so I'm not really sure if I have a sound card or not. Is it possible to not have a sound card but still hear sounds? Is there a way to tell if I have one? And if I don't have one, can I buy an external one or something? Thanks for your help everyone!

Hello everyone, I'm new to these forums but I have a multitude of questions I hope can be addressed, as I am also eager to learn exactly what is wrong and how exactly to go about fixing these problems -

There are three main pieces of equipment in question for these thread -
D-LINK DIR-615 (Wireless N Router)
ASUS WL-520GU (Wireless Print Server Router)
TEW 643PI (Wireless Adapter Card)

So, the first problem I had was that I was losing connection from my router on my computer at regular intervals, say around every 10-20 minutes. The router is currently connected wired to one computer, which is in the room with the router, while the my computer, is connected to the router via my wireless card, which is not too far away in a separate room, say less than 50 feet.

I checked the log in the firmware which indicates that my computer is disconnecting with the wireless router error 8. I have no idea what that means, nor could I find online what that meant. I will have the exact text of that message when I return home.

The funny thing about this problem is that I thought the router's wireless was unstable and just dropping connection every once in a while. So, I purchased the WL-520GU and tried to connect it to my DSL modem, via PPPoE. However, using the original firmware, it gave me an odd error, saying that my IP of my router (the 520GU) wasn't assigned to the correct IP address, though the IP assigned in the firmware matched what I used to type into my browser to ... I was trying to make my sister-in-law's wireless connection secure (they've had wireless set up for awhile unsecured), and all seemed to go well until magically, it didn't. It allowed me to set up a password -WPA2/Personal, it was fine, other devices (ipod Touch and another laptop) connected to the network by putting in the right key. HOWEVER, the original laptop, now wants no part of connecting to this network. It finds the network, but doesn't even let me get to a stage at which I need to enter the WPA key. It automatically says it can't connect, and is very useless when I hit "Diagnose the problem". I am only marginally less clueless than the people that asked for my help, so please don't get too technical on me. I have spent hours trying to figure out what the problem is, and though I know it's obviously something with the computer's setting, I don't know what that is.

When I go to the Network and Sharing Center, rather than being a three-way "map", it's two - the computer, then the internet. There is nothing (ie, router) in between. I have no idea how to get that step back in there.

I have connected the router to the laptop directly, and an internet connection does come up, so it isn't an ISP issue. The wireless does work with the devices mentioned above, as well as my own laptop, just not the central laptop.

I understand it may be a TCP/IP issue (or something like that), but I don't kn... Read more

That IPCONFIG shows a direct connection to a broadband modem. If that's when you're connected to the router, something is amiss.

Hi, I've literally spent hours upon hours on phones, on my settings tweaking things to figure out WHY I can't host games for other people. I will post everything that might be relevant to my problem. I've googled pretty much everything I can think of.

Computer IP: 192.168.1.2
Router IP: 192.168.1.1
Router Info: Linksys WRT54G2

I've gone to portforward.com and followed the directions specific to that router, I HAVE set up a static IP address and I have forwarded the correct ports, there is no question about that and yes it is forwarded to (.2). I have also tried enabling DMZ, still no cigar. I've also helped other players port forward their routers successfully using this website, but for some reason it has not worked for me.

-I am on a Mac OS X 10.5.5, using Gameranger trying to host games on Age of Empires II

-When I click the host button, I get an error message saying "Port-restricted Cone NAT Router" I've googled it, but it never gives me an easy definition to understand, or how to get rid of it if need be. I'm not sure if this is even relevant, but since it says "Port-Restricted" does this mean that I cannot forward ports or something?

-I have a DSL connection, connects through a modem, to a router, to my computer.

-I have checked my computer for firewalls, none. I have also disabled all the firewalls on my router as well. I have called my ISP and they said they don't do any blocking in their modems.

Avast messed my computer up. So last night after having had Avast installed for about a week on the free trial version, my computer does this automatic restart thing where Avast is checking for problems or what not. This morning when i went to get online, my computer would not load Internet Explorer or Google Chrome or any others. I decided to do a system restore and noticed that my system restore had been turned off so I turned it back on but still couldnt find a system restore point. I thought really hard about what last changes were made to my computer that could have it acting this way and than i remembered that ***king Avast file scan from last night so I went to my control panel and deleted Avast and as soon as I did, when it said it was finished I clicked ok and an automatic restart was performed and Ive been fine since. Really a shame since I was as avid LOVER of Avast. Wish it was this easy to get rid of wanted boyfriends ;)

Answer:Avast messed my computer problem& solution

Was there a reason why you tried the Avast trial instead of just using Avast Free? It sounds to me like you didn't uninstall the previous AV properly and that's why Avast didn't work properly. Avast is still the BEST free AV on the internet, I've used all the others and stayed with avast for it's great features, best real-time protection and no scheduled scans. Here's some more good reasons:http://www.avast.com/en-us/pr-new-a...Some HELP in posting on Computing.net plus free progs and instructions 7 Medals

Hi I am trying to buy a wireless card for my lenovo thinkcentre desktop  MT-M 9120-A26  which product should I buy?

Answer:which Wireless Card? Lenovo A26

Quality USB WiFi adapter should be ok and is most handy. Like D-Link etc. You could also use PCIe WiFi card, but then it will be inbuilt in computer and depending on placement of PC can be good or not so good solution ...

My sister recently purchased a HP Photosmart C6380 wireless printer. She wants to use it with her fiance's work Laptop that uses a wireless card to connect to the Internet. They don't use a router for this connection. She asked me for help, but I'm not sure. So now I'm asking members of this forum.

My question: Is it possible to hook up this type of wireless printer to a laptop that uses just a wireless card for it's Internet connection?

I would try resetting the BIOS using the jumper, or by taking out the CMOS battery, wait a minute or two, and then replace it and try booting up. See page 73 of the Hardware Maintenance Manaul linked below for location of the Clear CMOS/Recovery jumper (# 20) https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/thinkcentre_pdf/m83m93p_hmm.pdf Clearing the CMOS (BIOS)1. Remove all media from the drives and turn off all attached devices and the computer. Then, disconnect all power cords from electrical outlets and disconnect all cables that are connected to the computer. 2. Remove the computer cover. 3. Locate the Clear CMOS /Recovery jumper on the system board. 4. Move the jumper from the standard position (pin 1 and pin 2) to the maintenance position (pin 2 and pin 3). 5. Reinstall the computer cover and connect the power cord. 6. Turn on the computer and leave it on for approximately 10 seconds. Then, turn off the computer by holding the power switch for approximately five seconds. 7. Repeat step 1 through step 2. 8. Move the Clear CMOS /Recovery jumper back to the standard position (pin 1 and pin 2). 9. Reinstall the computer cover and connect the power cord. Good Luck,

Just set up my new M83 ThinkCentre. The Lenovo Solution Center is flagging the Storage device as needing attention. The Lenovo Recovery partition (Q - set up in factory, I presume) was set up with 11.9GB and is 87% full. I presume I should ignore the alert because I'm not going to use it unless i had to recover the system back to the factory installation. I don't want to set the reminder to "never" because then i won't be alerted when the main partition in my C-drive approaches capacity.  Should I increase the size of the Q partition? If yes, how would I do that without affecting the content? Or should I just ignore the alerts and live with the annoyance. Thanks in advance for any assistance!

Hi all, Lenovo Z70-80.   Frequently dropping wireless internet connection.  Ran the Lenovo diagnostic tool.  Support told me I needed a new wireless card.  Several WEEKS later it arrived... New card looks a bit different and larger and has more pins but still fit in the slot. With the new card when I boot the machine I get (before windows or anything else loads):"Unathorized Wireless network card is plugged in. Power off and remove it" Get back on the phone with support and was given 2 options - either sending the machine away for who knows how long or reinstalling the operating system which I don't understand how it will work if the machine won't boot to windows! Neither really work for me since the machine is used everyday all day for work. Any advice on what to do - or who at Lenovo I need to beg for a proper wifi card? Thanks in advance! Old CardNew Card

Hi everybody can anyone help me in how to change my wireless card out of my lenovo U110, I have not been able to find a dissasembly guide out there... Thanks

Answer:Lenovo U110 Change Wireless Card

If someone asks me if I have a choice to wash an elephant or to change WiFi on U110 - I'll wash elephant twice. To replace WiFi on U110 you need to remove battery; remove all screws from bottom of laptop (remember to write down all of screws of U110 since they are of different length) and remove little cover; remove memory module; turn the laptop over, open it and carefully pull over black panel with sensor buttons on it - be gentle or you can tear wires under it; remove launch board you can find under that panel; remove keyboard and disattach it; unscrew underkeyoard screws (write them down!); disconnect all wires you can see; pick up the cover you've just unscrewed; disattach HDD and remove it; disattach and unscrew that plate under expresscard slot wih battery (do not disconnect battery from mother board) and bluetooth on it; disconnect all wires you can see and unscrew all you can see exceptthat H -looking metal thingy on the center of motherboard; and FINALLYWe can now turn motherboard over carefully not to tear wires of WiFi and , after disconnecting the and unscrewing WiFi module, replace it.Time to dink and be brave to assemble this all together in backwards order. Not pleasant evn for me an I have well experience of work of this kind. If it is your first time - I highly recommend you not to perform this at all because there's a great chance you will not succeed at one stage or another. I upgraded my Lenovo G780 wireless to a Atheros AR9285 but when I booted up the computer i see "Unauthorized Wireless Network Card plugged in. Please remove it. How can I bypass this? I'm not going to get a refund for this card.  Is there any way to bypass the lenovo whitelist? This is really dumb that a consumer can't by a product and modify it to how ever they want to.

Answer:Lenovo G780 Wireless Card Whitelist

hi kingofweb89,

Your issue might be similar to this thread.

So far, the only way to bypass the "Unauthorized Wireless Network Card plugged in" is thru BIOS modification (discussion here, here, and here) as there's no BIOS updates available yet from the lenovo website.. Flashing a modded BIOS though into your machine is risky as it may brick your PC so take every necessary precaution.

Hope this helps.

After that process was done, and just as it was about to go to the desktop it went into bluescreen again.3.) This occured thrice in a row, then it finally offered a restoration option.4.) I did the restoration process but it was taking unnaturally (30mins+) long.5.) So I turned it off manually and restarted it.6.) Everything was fine, except I couldn't detect my Wireless Card anymore. Additional Info: Can't BluetoothHave updated and tried several latest drivers. Please do help me. Is it possible that my card could have fried itself?- Charlie

Ello folks, I recently bought a Lenovo g570 Notebook, started using it all went fine recently i even upgraded my windows 7 to windows 8 x 64 and everything was swell. At some point my wireless connection was working fine but then BAM my wireless connection dissappeared from the list of connections. I must say that i had the same problem with the previous windows 7. Figured that the broadcast from the router was the problem but it turned out it wasn't sooo i'm assuming it's some kind of setting from the laptop because all other wireless using tech from home can see that particular network, all except the lenovo notebook. Any help would be appreciated. I must say that i recently updated every driver to the latest after deinstalling the previous ones, without any result..... It's driving me nuts ....

Hi! I have a problem with my notebook Lenovo Z50-70 type 80E7. Bought in Estonia (Europe). The problem is that wifi does not work properly. When I boot up my notebook it cannot find any wireless networks, but they are there. All the other devices can find them and connect. When I put my notebook to sleep (close the lid) and wake it from sleep it then can find all available networks and is able to connect to them and works fine. And it is like that every time I boot my laptop. I reinstalled windows (windows 7) and installed all the drivers and installed right  version of Energy Management. Turned wifi on by pressing F7. I have it running on background and something called utility.exe is running also. I read it is needed for this too. But it is still doing the same thing. Could it be failing wifi card or maybe some settings in windows or in my router? Because I used this laptop in my other home for a day after windows installation and it worked fine, but when I got back to my first home it was acting up in the same way again. Every other device in my home works on the same wifi very well. We have 2 smartphones, 1 tablet and 1 Acer laptop and no problems with them. Only my laptop needs go to sleep and wake from it in order to use wifi. And the fact is that my laptop worked on the same wifi before it started doing this just fine. And another question. I ordered new wireless card hoping it would work better and have 5GHz wifi support. The card is:35020606NBC LV ... Read more

Answer:Lenovo B560 Wireless Card NOT DETECTED :(

hey AlexandraOprea, welcome to the forums and for this, i recommend heading over to the device manager and uninstall all the wireless drivers.let windows install its generic drivers. once that is done; use the connection wizard provided by windows and see if you're able to connect.also, crosscheck your unit with this page : http://consumersupport.lenovo.com/us/en/DriversDownloads/drivers_list.aspx?CategoryID=105278and ensure that all the drivers including bios are the same.

I have a brand new Lenovo C200 Atom DC 2 All In One PC (Desktop). I seem to have a problem with the wireless adaptor which is a Atheros AR9285. When I first power up the PC it connects to my router and gets internet speeds of around 5MB per sec, after a few minutes it spows down to around 120kb per sec! I called Lenovo support and after holding for 50 mins to get through I was told that I needed to contact my internet service provider who would be able to change the channel on the PC and improve things! I have seven other PC's connected to my router and none of them have any problem. Also I cant transfer files from my central storage drive with the Lenovo because the connection times out because it is so slow. I am convinced it is a problem with the wireless card, there is nothing else that could possibly cause this that I can see. Also this is the 2nd Lenovo with the same fault, I sent the original one back and this is a replacement. Technical support are supposed to be calling me back tomorrow but I dont hold out much hope with them after they told me to speak to my internet service provider. Has anyone got any ideas what I could do to cure the issue? Any help appreciated.

Answer:Lenovo C200 All in One Wireless card issues

OK after many hours of searching I found the problem, the issue isn't exactly with the Lenovo although you would expect them to supply a wireless card that is compatible with Windows 7! The issue is with the Atheros AR9285 wireless card, if you Google the Atheros card you will find numerous posts where people have had issues with this, there isn't any one straightforward fix, it seems dependent on what router you are using and how you have things set up. I played around with my router settings and the settings on the Lenovo and finally found a configuration that worked for me, the Lenovo dosent like some channels on the router but does others, if anyone else gets this I would recommend changing the router setting from auto channel select to one channel between 1 and 11 to find one that works best. That seemed to fixmine. Thanks a bunch Lenovo support, call my internet service provider, yeh right! Also when you keep people waiting on hold for 50 mins before answering a simple "I'm sorry to have kept you waiting" would be nice not an argument with your CS rep saying "You haven't been on hold for that long". Anyone with the most basic knowledge should know that if files can not be transferred from a central drive by the wireless card its nothing to do with the internet service provider!

Currently my Lenovo G50-70 has a qualcomm atheros ar956x that has severely poor performance, so I wanted to upgrade to a Wireless AC adapter. after recieving the part listed as "WirelessLan_Intel, Intel 3160 1x1AC+BT PCIE NGFF WLAN" in the HMM, it booted to a screen that said "Unauthorized wireless card, please power off and unplug". So in finding that this card didnt work, I ordered the part listed as "Ltn NFA345 AC+BT4.0 PCIE M.2 WLAN Card For Lenovo B50 Series ,FRU 04X6023 20200579" and had the same result. After messaging the lenovo cs twitter and having them tell me Im basically SoL I decided to make a forum account. Can anyone help? My BIOS and drivers are all at the most current version. I can supply any additional information needed. Included are photos of the current and new cards, the new one has a green dot on it

Hi, Yesterday, using Lenovo Solution Center 2.4.003, I upgraded the firmware (since it was marked critical) of my USB-3 dock in my office. Now I cannot connect anymore with the network. Now and then I see few blinks and monitoring with wireshark shows that the dock transmit data, but does not receive anything. The adapter is configured with fixed IP addres, so we do not use DHCP. I see ARP(Who has ...?) request going out, and nothing returns. What is going here? BTW, when using a USB-Ethernet adapter on the same cable everything works. So it is NOT a cabling/network problem. Also, before upgarding everything was working. Do you have a suggestion? For instance how to revert back to the old firmware?BTW, how do I see what version firmware is in the docking station? Thanks,Jos

I've bought my lenovo y50-70 2 months ago and I'm very happy with it, though, I am always having wi-fi issues. Everyone arround me would have a strong wifi connection and my laptop would just not see it or if it did it would drop the connection after 2 minutes. I tried new wifi drivers and reinstalling the network card (when I opened the laptop it was very loose, but none of this helped my problem.Yesterday I bought a new network card, an Intel 7265 Wireless AC card, downloaded the drivers from the lenovo website. Uninstalled my old wifi card in device manager, opened my laptop, took out the old and put in the new card, reconnected the wires and closed the laptop back up.Now when I try to boot I get an error stating "Unauthorized Wireless network card is plugged in. Power off and remove it"I paniced a little but found out that when I disabled the wireless card in the BIOS I could fortunatly still boot into windows. I'm a little unsure why this card is not on the authorized cards whitelist because I know for a fact lenovo uses this card in many other y series laptops. I tried updating my bios to version 3.3, was on version 2.x. But no luck there. Is there any way I can get this wifi card to work? I've read a lot online and it seems that by hacking and flashing my BIOS I could get it to work. I have experience flashing a new BIOS but I do not want to do that on my laptop if it is unofficial, since there is no BIOS reset button.I hope someone can help me, thanks in advance,... Read more

Answer:Lenovo y50-70 Unauthorized Wireless network card problem

Well it certainly seems to be the same issue as when I got my Thinkpad years ago. Lenovo chooses to restrict the use of cards not holding their ID # or whatever is the identifier in BIOS.  No feasible way around it. You'd need to replace it with one Marked as Lenovo compatible and/or bearing the Lenovo label somewhere. You may be able to exchange it or get Lenovo to replace the original card.

hi AbuFahad,

I'm sorry to hear what happened,

Open Your device Manager and check under Network Adapters,

Check your wireless LAN model it should say Wireless , wifi or 802.11
Rightclick on it and select properties
Now go to the advanced Details TAB
Click on the dropdown and select Hardware Ids
Right click on the Value and Paste it back here
ex. PCIVEN_8086&DEV_24D5

If you don't see your wireless like Wireless , wifi or 802.11 then check the rest of Device Manager ad check if you have any icon that has a yellow exclamation mark on it.

I am trying to upgrade a MiniPCI wireless card in my Y410. I purchased a following item: "INTEL SINGLE WHITE BOX CENTRINO WIRELESS-N 1030 WI-FI HALF MINI CARD. 802.11 /B/G/N +" BIOS will not allow to boot when this device is plugged in. As far as I could tell, it works if you plug it right after BIOS started loading OS. So, there's nothing technically preventing laptop from running this wireless card, except some very annoying restriction on Lenovo part. I tried to lookup for a BIOS upgrade which has this restriction removed, and found only a couple of dead links. Does anybody have a hacked BIOS I could use? It would also be great if a BIOS was available with AHCI support. In case lenovo wants to keep being hard on end-user, and provide no option to update BIOS to reasonable level, which MiniPCI card could I purchase, that would work in Y410, and provide Bluetooth and 802.11N?

I am planning to purchase a new Lenovo G50-80 Laptop #80E501JFUS. This machine comes with a "Lenovo AC Wireless" Network Card. I presume that means that this machine talks state-of-the-art 11ac Wi-Fi network protocols. My question is, will 80E501JFUS work properly on an older Wi-Fi network that is based on the older 11b/g/n Wi-Fi network protocols such as one might find in a public library, ie, is the 80E501JFUS with its state-of-the-art 11ac Wi-Fi networking capability automatically & transparently backwards compatible with older 11b/g/n-based Wi-Fi networks?

Answer:Is Lenovo AC Wireless Network Card backwards compatible?

hi chas_alpha

Welcome to the Forums.

Looking at the G50-80 (80E501JFUS) spare parts, this system uses a Broadcom 43162 Wireless Card.
  - Link to picture

This type of card is indeed backwards compatible with 802.11/b/g/n wireless networking specifications (such as the WI-Fi access points in public library).

As for making it to work on  802.11/b/g/n, you may need to look under the Device Manager > Wrieless card properties > Advanced Tab and toggle the band preference and the wireless mode.

Hi, I'm having trouble finding the driver for my wireless PC Card.  The card is a Compaq(HP) WL100 Wireless PC Card, pictured here , though the driver from this site didn't help my Device Manager use the card. I am using a Lenovo Thinkpad 2647-9EU, and I am hoping someone will be able to link me to a page much like this one, but for T-20 to T-23 models (which I believe I have). Any help would be appreciated!  I'm trying to get this ready before I give it to my daughter for Christmas.
