X61: Active protection system disabled after resuming from standby

Question: X61: Active protection system disabled after resuming from standby

Hi, I am using a X61 and when i resume from standby, the active protection system will be disabled. I need to reenable it again. Resuming from hibernation does not have this problem. Note: I just got a replacement harddisk from ibm. Its a fujitsu 120gb MHZ2120BH G1. Firmware: 0084000A Machine:X617674FY8 Using Windows XP service pack 3. Any idea of how to resolve this issue??

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

hi, im using xp, and if my system is in suspended state for a long time (>5 hrs), it hangs (it switches on, but if i click a username and enter a password to logon, it gets stuck). if i do a warm boot, it doesnt load the OS. i have to disconnect the power cord for 5mins to clear the RAM and then plug it in to get it working.

im using S3\STR (Suspend to RAM)

Answer:system sometimes hangs after resuming from standby

This is one of the fixes provided under Microsoft's Windows XP SP1( service pack1) It appears there is a problem of too fast action by the pci.sys file. Follow this link, download and install this patch. As an alternative install XP SP1 from windows update ( start>all programs, or start>all programs>control panel>windows update) This should contain the patch .

hi, I'm using t420. I've replaced the HDD with a Crucial M4 SSD. I have some questions. The HDD will stop when a shock detected by TheThinkvantageActiveProtectionSystem. But now i'm using a SSD, I don't know that the Disk can be caused by stopping when a shock detected. Should I worry about it?

Answer:The Thinkvantage Active Protection System-Lenovo airbag protection

An SSD has no moving parts so there's no need to run APS. If you don't have any HDDs inside your T420, e.g. in the Ultrabay or mSATA, you can just uninstall APS altogether.

I have a T60 running Win XP SP2. Recently, I had a motherboard and fan replaced by a Lenovo technician to correct my heat problem. Ever since then, every time I try to resume the computer after it had been in standby mode, a few minutes later, the computer returns to sleep. I tried reinstalling windows but it did not solve the problem. Instead now, a message pops up saying it is safe to remove the CD drive then goes back to standby.  THis happens in a constant loop, but the problem goes away if I avoid the standby mode and poweroff/on instead. Anyone have an idea what the problem is? So far, I tried updating video drivers and BIOS but has not solved the problem.

After getting my new Seagate Momentus 7200.3 320GB drive working with my X60 Thinkpad (1706-M7M) running XP Pro, I noticed that the HDD active protection system has disabled itself. Is it not compatible with my new drive?

Answer:X60 HDD Active Protection System

You have two accelerometers now! Your ThinkPad has one (Active Protection), and so does your new hard drive (Seagate G-Force). I don't have personal experience with this, but it's possible the Seagate G-Force software disabled Active Protection. You may be able to re-enable it and run both in parallel. I have no idea how they interact. Either one should be sufficient to protect the drive. Perhaps someone with experience could chime in?

Hi Ellen and welcome to the forum, You can find the 32 bit version for Windows 7 here: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-53150 You could also download and install Lenovo System Update:http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-73695.html System Update will check for new drivers and software from Lenovo for your computer and give you a list where you can choose what you want to download and install and it will be installed for you without having to download and install each one of then manually. It should also give you the option to download and install Active Protection System. It's also a nice tool to check for new versions of the drivers and Lenovo software for your computer. -gan

Is it good to be running the APS or is it only needed if I ever drop the computer? Why are there two different beeps, one is louder and longer, the other short and quiet.......... whats the difference between them? Its weird because I only had one of the beeps for about a month and a half. And can I run APS but turn off the beep (dont recall seeing an option for this)? It beeps a LOT on the less sensitive setting even.. even being gentle picking it up...

Answer:Active protection system

The APS parks your hdd head when you accidentally drop it, while the resting hdd can usually take 240 to 400 g shock, a working hdd with the head assembly reading the platter usually can take 50 g, which is equivalent to 1 m fall. However, it depends on the angle of drop so a failure of the hdd is possible even you drop it at 20 cm. The head assembly is only around 0.1 mm from the platter, and any scratches to the platter will cause irreversible damages to the data. Regarding the beep, i am not so sure.

My T61 came with a Seagate Momentus 120GB 5400.3 HDD. My HDD is reaching capacity and I would like to upgrade my HDD to 250GB - 500GB and thought a larger Seagate would be compatible with ThinkVantage Acvtive Protection System. Whilst looking at HDDs on Newegg I found a Seagate Momentus 500GB 5400.6 HDD, yet a comment about incompatability with Lenovo's firmware http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148371 Will a 250GB, 320GB or 500GB Seagate Momentus Harddrive work with ThinkVantage Acvtive Protection System?  Have others upgraded their HDDs with any of these HDDs and had any issues with ThinkVantage Acvtive Protection System? TIA

Hello! I?m hoping that someone here can answer this question ? is APS running all the time, even if the laptop is at a Windows login box with the lid closed? I work as a tech at a K-12 school district.  In our JH/HS building, we have 18 Bretford carts with 14 Thinkpad laptops on each (a mix of R61 and R400 machines, all running APS).  Once the laptops are started each day, the teachers want to have students log off instead of shut down before placing them back in the cart and taking the cart to its next assigned classroom. The classrooms in this building have a ? lip at the doorway that cart has to traverse when going in and out.  Of course, the teachers have the students take the carts to their next location instead of doing it themselves, so the carts tend to get rough treatment especially when negotiating that doorway lip.  I'm not aware that logging off and closing the lid will park the hard drive head.  If APS isn?t running all the time the laptop is turned on, then there is potential for hard drive head damage during transport, and we would insist that the laptops be shut down for transport to their next destination. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

Answer:Active Protection System question

APS is NOT running as a service.

The Startup will be found in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run and will be executed after login.

Hey, I got this problem. I just did a clean install of Windows 8.1 64-bit on Thinkpad Edge 15 and I downloaded this great tool Active Protection System, which worked perfectly on my Windows 7 before. When I open up the program and shake my laptop it shows that shock is detected and shows that harddrive is stopped and while watching a movie the picture doesn't freeze, which means it isn't stopped. The sensitivity is set high and I disabled "Apatively ignore frequnet shocks". Is this a common problem for Win 8.1 or do I have to install something more?

So I'm wondering about ThinkVantage Active Protection System...do I really need it on my T440s? As long as your machine is runing a conventional hard drive and not a n SSD, I'd keep the APS installed. If you feel that it interferes with the operation of HDD, you can change the settings and make it less sensitive.

The option to display the icon in the system tray may be turned off, so you might want to try to open it from the Thinkvantage control panel applet and see if the option to display it is enabled.    Version 1.82.2.20 was supposed to  "Fix" an issue with APS icon disappearing from system tray after restart" per this document, but perhaps they did not quite fix it after all. Regards,

(128 is a *bit* smaller than I can comfortably use.) Is it possible to set up Active Protection to only stop the second hard drive and ignore the SSD upon shocks? Hello, I am using P70, and installed M2 SSDs for system partition, and replaced the SATA HDD by SSD.It seems to me that active protection system is no longer necessary for this configuration,However, the active protection system background application is keep running.I consulted Lenovo engineer, he suggested me to go into the device and printer menu, and then turn off the protection.I found that there was no such options inside the menu, and it was not provided at Lenovo settings either. It seems to me that although the resources that the app is taking is not much,if the user feels it no longer necessary, there should be a way to stop running it,in "Official, Supported" way..Is there such a way that I haven't tried? Or is it not yet to be supported? Currently I installed W10 enterprise on the system over W10 Pro, which was preinstalled. If it was the cause of the problem, I am also curious that is it legitimate to me to ask for any patch (or anything...) for this kind of problem. Thank you in advance.

My wife received her new Ideapad Y530 40512UU last week.  So far she likes it very well but I have been wondering if it has the Active Protection System included on it.  I have the Thinkpad T400 and like the APS feature.  The specs on the Ideapad seem to indicate that it is included on many models but I can't find anything in the config that would lead me to believe that it is active on her system.  Is there any way that I can check it without the Thinkvantage Active Protection System properties utility that is included on the Thinkpads?

Answer:Ideapad Y530: Active Protection System for hard drive included?

Hi everyone, We supplied 4 x Lenovo ThinkCentre M93P Tiny Desktops (Model: 10AB003SAU) to a business customer earlier in the year. They are all running Windows 7 64-bit with 500GB 7000RPM SATA drives. Late last week to early this week (approx 17 April 2015 to 20 April 2015) an update came through Lenovo System Update for Lenovo Active System Protection V1.0.0.21 which the customer installed on all four of their systems. Since then, all four systems have been hanging & locking up during use & then require a hard reset for the systems to be usable again until the problem reoccurs next time then the same thing over & over. I spent a heap of time going over the systems trying to work out the cause of this issue which has cost me an absolute fortune in lost productivity & lost revenue. It also lost the customer a lot of time & renenue due to the systems being problematic over a number of days. Thanks very much Lenovo! Won't get any of that time or lost labour back! Customer is furious with both us & Lenovo over this matter, we will likely lose future business due to this. Hoping this may save someone else a major headache if they see this post early enough as I assume problem would be relatively widespread if people are using Lenovo Update. If anyone else has or had this issue recently then please comment. Very disappointed with this probl... Answer:** Lenovo Active Protection System V1.0.0.21 Causing Windows 7 64-bit to randomly lock up **

I just had the very same problem with a 10A5 0006 (M93 without "p"). Customer reported the issue on Friday, 8th of May after apparently suffering silently through the issue for a few days already, saying that it becomes worse, and that he has to restart the machine sometimes every quarter of an hour. Thankfully customer was able to say that the problems started in the last week of April already, and indeed, on the 16th the machine last installed Windows Updates, and on the 19th the aforementioned Active Protection Of Doom 1.0.0.21. I already began back tracing (read: uninstalling one by one) the updates from that day when I stumbled over your post. In all fairness, I would probably not have even touched the Lenovo update, thinking first of a MS foobar. This post saved me from having to invest several hours of time, not to mention that I will be now prepared if the next machine with the similar issue comes around the corner (I need to service roundabout 50 M93p's from the last half year, I betcha there will be more) Thanks

Hi all, I have a 500 GB hdd 7200rpm which I purchased from lenovo and a hdd caddy which is the slim one (so there is a slight gap for those that are curious) on the thinkpad t510. what i am wondering is i have dual boot on it (linux on the 500gb) and i am wondering if when I am using windows, does the second hdd still get protected from shocks and other potentially damaging harm from the active protecttion system which is present for the hard drive which came preinstalled on the laptop

I've been having a small problem with my laptop, when I put it in standby overnight, then try to wake it up in the morning, the screen doesn't turn on. It does wake up, I can hear Outlook's "new message" sound, but the screen stays black. If I make it standby again (by hitting function+F4), and wake it up, the screen wakes up like it's supposed to. I don't have the problem when I leave it in standby in the morning when I leave for work, (and then wake it back up about 9 hours later), so I'm sorta confused...any thoughts?

It's a P3-M 1ghz running XP Home SP1, 384MB RAM.

TIA!

Hi Guys,

I'm currently suffering issues resuming from standby (both S1 & S3). When I resume although my tower resumes (ie I can hear the fans & disks spin) my screen doesn't turn on (as though it doesn't receive any feed).

I then have to hard reset/cold boot my machine, and then start it again.

Has anyone else suffered an issue like this in the past, and better still fixed it?

Other than this my system is running fine, so don't really want to re-format and re-install Windows.

I'm currently running WinXP MCE 2005 SP3

Thanks in advance for any help

Can anyone advise me on how to resume from standby mode by pressing a key instead of moving the mouse? I've looked at previous entries on this forum but I can't seem to find a definitive answer. I'm using Wndows XP with SP2.

Answer:Resuming from standby mode

you should just hit the enter key, make sure the safe mode is highlighted, use the up and down key to change the selection.

Do you have tetra lockscreen app installed? or live lockscreen beta? Those two did cause the phone to resume..

I own a X61-7673-7EU+docking station for nearly a year now and I've downgraded to Lenovo supplied XP Pro soon after purchasing. The problem I have is that once in a while, approximately every 10 or so standby resumptions, the screen will not turn on and no Fn hitting, F8 pressing or any other combination makes the screen work. The only way to solve this is by resetting which is very annoying. I should note the lights indicate the computer is back on when this happens. I also noticed this happens when the computer is used without the docking station.I constantly look for updates and install anything that looks even remotely relevant but to no avail.I would highly appreciate some guidance on how to solve.Thanks. PS. - if possible, I would also appreciate knowing why sometimes the laptop goes into standby but when I undock or touch the mouse it resumes.

I am experiencing problems with my USB 3.0 ports on a Delock 89359 PCI-e x4 card which is a combined SATA 6Gb 2 port and 2 external USB 3.0 ports card which I have installed to a PCI-e x16 v2 slot.

The problem is that when I put my system into standby, after resuming from sleep, the two hubs USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 disappear which means the ports do not function. The only two devices left installed after resuming are Etron USB 3.0 Extensible Host Controller and Etron USB 3.0 Extensible Root Hub but there should be two additional hubs which makes any devices accessible. I will update after a reboot with their exact names but one is a USB 2.0 and the other is a USB 3.0 hub.

I use a USB 3.0 Startech dual docking bay SDOCK2U33HFW which I use to plug in a number of drives as needed. However after standby when the USB hubs disappear, the drives cannot be accessed until a reboot which is proving very annoying.

I have tried scan for hardware changes in device manager without success. I have tried uninstalling the Etron application drivers and unplugging the docking station and reinstalling the drivers, which only installs the two devices that I listed above and not the two hubs. I have also tried v1.0.0.118 and v1.0.0.119 Etron drivers with no improvement.

This windows 7 x64 SP1 install is newly done less than 2 weeks ago and the majority of windows updates have been installed which in itself was a challenge with updates not downloading, not installing and spending hours checking. I... Read more

OK. I'll try and explain this as good as i can. This started a couple months ago where i was trying to sync a scanner to laptop on win8 Toshiba, when the CPU started going crazy changed all contrast colors and ease of access settings to where the screen was not legable. ran my virus scan which didn't find anything but it kept happening. so did a full system restore. to no avail started noticing cpu always different  i got on it so i've been trying to run malware and spyware that gets shutdown or computer reboots in middle of scan. to where the laptop has crashed quite a few times when i get to looking deeper into the problem. now ive noticed network problems at home  with so many ports open and established. its gotten so bad as my older asus running win 7 has same problems now and my brand new galaxy s5 cell phone also was doing weird things and finally it too finally crashed. so thinking its something over the network which at first i thought it was the wife spying on me but every now and again i can turn off router and seems like things still happen and couple of my scan logs got changed were i know i saw some alerts on log about not updating but next day it was changed. when laptop was off all night after scan.

im not that tech savy but i try to read and look up as much as i could but shoot it just keeps getting worse and worse. so i would greatly appreciate some help with the matter before the laptop gets thrown in trash. it seems like theres alot of cmd ... Read more

Hi All
Apologies if this topic has been covered before.
If I put my PC onto standby everything sems to go to sleep normally, monitor, fans, HDD's power down and green LED Flashes on front of case.
When I try to wake it up the base unit powers up but the monitor stays on standby and no amount of mouse movements or keyboard presses will stir it into life. A reboot's the only solution.

Is this possibly a vid card issue.

ATI Radeon 9550, latest drivers
ASUS 8V Deluxe Mobo,
XP Home.

Any Thoughts

I'm having an issue with a freshly installed copy of Windows XP Pro x64 Edition concerning hibernation and standby. Going into either mode is no problem but when I resume all I get is my desktop background with a frozen cursor pasted to it. If I am lucky I can get to the Welcome screen and enter my password then it will decide to freeze up.

What's funny is that it wasn't a problem a couple of days ago when I just installed it. I do want to mention that I am using up to date drivers for the chipset, graphics card, wifi, and sound (all which were integrated with nLite before install sans the sound driver). The x64 Service Pack 2 was integrated as well, but post-SP2 hotfixes have been installed separately within three hours after installing XP x64. The system was OCed in the beginning but even with the factory clock speeds and voltages reinstated I still cannot resume properly. Bios happens to be on the latest available version right now

My system specifications:
Abit KN8 Ultra NVidia Nforce4 Ultra motherboard
AMD Athon 64 X2 4200 Manchester Socket 939 (now clocked back at factory 2.2GHz)

320GB SATA 3.0GB/s WD 7200.11 RPM hard drive

Alter the power settings in the BIOS, a lot of times modifying from S1 to S3 state can fix issues for some people, as can going from S3 to S1. It's weird, but nothing is a sure-fire solution, it's all basically try this, nope, try that, nope, keep trying, ok, this works, done.

Got the same issue here in Ireland.  On the system log I see that session manager cannot launch properly in the background.  I saw on the internet that it could be the Roxio drivers on the system preventing session launch but it was not it.  Looking at some of the other errors on this forum it could be worth playing with the display drivers.  I'll let you know how I got on.  Mean time if yoy do find a solution please post it.  Thanks PC

My computer keeps cutting out when i try and resume win XP pro SP2 from standby or from hibernation.
I am pretty sure it's not a heat thing as it's fine when running normally and i can use heavy apps like premiere / maya and render stuff fine without problems.
Also, I have been using the same psu for a while and not added any new hardware so the psu is operating within it limits.

We are running T400s with XP SP3. From time to time when the computer comes out of standby the login screen will not appear. You just get the background image and your mouse. The mouse will move across the screen. However there is no screen saying press Ctrl+Alt+Del or swipe a finger to login. Also swiping a finger, or pressing ctr+alt+del, typing in your password and hitting Enter does not work either. It seems to be a random but frequent occurence. The couple of T400s with Vista installed do not have this problem. Any ideas?

The computer is a Dell Inspiron 530 (one month old) running Windows Vista Ultimate. It has a wired NIC (Intel chipset) and a wireless NIC. The wired NIC will not pull an IP address from the router when brought out of Standby. The wireless NIC will. The other computers on the network, wireless connected laptops, all get an IP when coming out of Standby. The 530 is assigned a 169.xxx.x.x address.

There are no updated drivers available. It's only a month old. Uninstalling and reinstalling the NIC didn't work. The issue is resolved if the NIC is disabled and then re-enabled, but this shouldn't be necessary.

I plan to replace the OEM hard drive on my ThinkPad X60 with a Western Digital Scorpio Black drive. I found a board posting on Scott Mueller's Upgrading and Repairing Forum site that seems to indicate that APS will work with this drive. Here is my question: Is there any point in purchasing the drive with the free fall sensor option? (This is more expensive than the drive without the sensor.)  Will this provide any additional protection above and beyond the Active Protection System. Will the internal free fall sensor in the drive be compatible with APS?  In other words, should I buy a Scorpio Black with or without the free fall sensor? Thanks!

Answer:ThinkPad X60 Replacement Hard Drive - Will free fall sensor work with Active Protection System?

Welcome to the forum! If I were buying a replacement drive, I'd get one without a sensor, but that's me.Having seen way too many laptops that have gone through a real "free fall" I'll say that a damaged hard drive in such an event is usually the least of one's problems...Good luck.

I've recently just received my T510 and am very pleased with it so far. However, there is just one little issue that seems to be bugging me. When resuming from sleep/standby on my machine, there seems to be a 1 or 2 second period in which both the trackpoint and trackpad (I've enabled both) are unresponsive/frozen. This happens 100% of the time! I I would test this by pressing on the trackpoint and waiting for a response: after about 2 seconds, the cursor would zoom out the screen. What could be causing this momentary lag? I have done a fresh reinstall of windows 7 x64 Professional after creating recovery disks, installed all the latest drivers, and have the latest BIOS. I am at a total loss here! any ideas?

My 64608WU is in an Advanced Dock to which I have attached a Lenovo "Preferred Pro USB Fingerprint Keyboard" Option Number: 73P4730 (on sales invoice)Data below on keyboard itself.Model: KUF0452P/N: 41A5248FRU P/N: 41A5248 It works fine in all aspects, including the Blue ThinkVantage button and fingerprint reader, but what does not work is resuming from Standby.  I have to open the lid and press the "Fn" key to get it out of Standby.  According to the ThinkVision Keyboard Customizer the right control key + F4 should put it into standby and presumably bring it out also.  This key combination does put it in Standby, however once it is in standby it will not bring it out.  I notice at this point the light on my external mouse is not illuminated either, so it seems like maybe there is no power to the USB ports.  I do however have the USB ports to be always on in the BIOS, so I would have thought this would enable the mouse movement or at worst the Right Control Key plus F4 to bring it out of standby, but it does not.  Is there a solution to this, aside from setting the power options for it to never go into standby?

I would start with Troubleshoot Application Conflicts by Performing a Clean Startup

Also, you might want to check error logs through event viewer. To check error logs:Click Start Menu
Type eventvwr into Search programs and files (do not hit enter)
Right click eventvwr and click Run as administrator
Expand Custom Views
Click on Administrative Events

Check for any errors that are reoccurring or occurring at the time of startup. Especially pay attention to system errors and any errors with applications with SVC in their name.

Thanks for the reply. I checked the Event Viewer after I started up and saw nothing reported.

I think I'll leave well enough alone for now as my computer is running fine.

Hi guys,

So after resolving my WU problems (thanks again Noel) my laptop has some standby issues;

It rarely comes out of standby now, Fans roar but screen stays blank, only option is power off.

And when in standby sometimes I return to it and it has turned off.

Where to start?

TIA

Answer:WU fixed but random shut-downs and standby not resuming?

MSINFO32:
Please go to Start and type in "msinfo32.exe" (without the quotes) and press Enter
Save the report as an .nfo file, then zip up the .nfo file and upload/attach the .zip file with your next post.
Also, save a copy as a .txt file and include it also (it's much more difficult to read, but we have greater success in getting the info from it).

systeminfo:
Please open an elevated (Run as administrator) Command Prompt and type (or copy/paste) "systeminfo.exe >%USERPROFILE%\Desktop\systeminfo.txt" (without the quotes) and press Enter. Then navigate to Desktop to retrieve the syteminfo.txt file. If you have difficulties with making this work, please post back. Then zip up the .txt file and upload/attach the .zip file with your next post.

I had downgraded the Toshiba C50 Windows 8 to Windows 7 64-bit, and downloaded all related drivers from Toshiba?s web site, but there is no sound on the laptop after I put the computer to sleep or into hibernate mode. The Sound icon on right corner is there and active.

I already uninstalled the sound driver from Device Manager and restarted the computer.
This didn?t work.
Also I tried installing a new version of the sound driver from Toshiba?s web site again ? again, no sound.

If I do a complete shut down or restart the laptop the sound is back to normal.Sometime it doesnt come back as well..

I did Start -> Run -> ?services.msc? Enter. Check that Windows Audio service status is ?Started?.
but again NO HELP.

All windows updates are up to date. OS:windows 7(64bit) Ultimate, SP1

I did complete virus scan to computer,it found nothing.

I rang Toshiba customer support care, they are asking for ?45 (GBP) to pay them to get technical support.
It is stupid things that technical support is payable despite this computer is only 3 weeks old.

Can someone help me so?

Hi all,

I am experiencing a problme with CssSvr.exe (that as I googled it is related to the TrueSuite Access Manager software for fingerprint reading). Whenever the computer goes in standby after resuming there is and error related to this program.

Answer:Portege M800 CssSvr.exe error on resuming from standby

Hi

I would recommend reinstalling this software again.
If this does not help then you should disable the power saving in device manager for fingerprint.
Device manager -> fingerprint device -> properties

Reboot the unit.

good luck

Hey ...

I have a Laptop: Toshiba Satellite A200-1m8 OS: Win Xp Sp3

After resuming my computer from stand by or hibernation, I got the blue screen " hardware malfunction - parity error - call your ...... vendor etc... "

I checked my GPU drivers updates and checked the memory RAMs models but all seem ok.
I also set the compter to run with basic drivers from msconfig but wtihout any positive results.

Any idea what the problem could be?

....

Answer:BSOD on Satellite A200-1m8 after resuming from standby or hibernation

Hi

As far as I know the BIOS on the Satellite A200 should be updated to BIOS Win XP version if Win XP has been installed on the machine.

Did you update the BIOS to Win XP version? If not -> do this.

I searched a little bit on the MS knowledge pages for some details regarding this error and found this page:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;q222973&

Microsoft means that this error could be related to the hardware malfunction.

This could be right and I think in such case you should contact the ASP in your country in order to check the keyboard and the touchpad.
Maybe the parts must be replaced.

Cheers

Hi - I have occasional problems resuming from standby. It doesn't happen all the time; there seems to be no rhyme or reason to it. When I try to resume from standby, I will see a bright back lit monitor. I then have to turn the computer off manually via the power button. When the computer comes back on, the screen will say Resuming from Standby. Then it will go back to the bright back lit screen. I then have to manually turn the computer off again and this time when I restart I get the option to "Delete the restoration data and resume with Windows restart" (wording not exact but remembered as best as I could). I select this option and now it starts fine, no problems. I know that I could just turn off my computer and restart it each time I want to use it but I like the convenience of just waking it up from standby (much quicker) when I want to use it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!!!

Hi guys,

I'm new here, and I have a problem that I have searched very extensively for. I have a Toshiba Tecra A4-S211 laptop, running Windows XP Pro SP2, and with an Intel ProSet 2200BG internal wireless card installed.

My problem is that when I'm connected to a wireless network (my Belkin wireless router), all works just fine until I hibernate or go into standby. When I resume Windows and everything loads up again, the connection appears to be working fine -- that is, it will say "Status: Connected" in the tray, and the signal strength seems fine. However, when I try to get online, nothing works. What's much more confusing is I can no longer ping the router or any other computers on my network. I can ping my IP assigned via DHCP 192.168.2.50, but I can no longer get online or even ping the router itself, even though it shows an excellent connection.

I've tried a number of different things in attempting to fix the problem. Rebooting always fixes it, but so far I can't find anything, short of restarting, that will.

I repaired the connection, which seems to go through all of the steps successfully, including renewing the IP address.

I tried

Code:
ipconfig /flushdns
Code:
ipconfig /release *
Code:
ipconfig /renew *
All of these complete successfully, yet I still can't communicate with the router or beyond.

I tried disabling/enabling the wireless connection, I disabled the adapter in Device Manager, and I also physically turned... Read more

Been having some strange crashes recently. When I resume my netbook from standby it restarts. Windows error report thingy said it had a BSOD and had to restart.

A few months ago I had an even stranger problem where I was unable to load windows because of some windows update... It just launched to a black screen with a mouse and never changed regardless of the time it was allowed to sit at that screen. Luckily a system restore fixed that problem, but I have been getting the crashes while trying to resume from standby ever since.

Intel atom process

I have a T400s with an intel 5300 AGN adapter. Recently, I've noticed that the wireless network is unavailable after resuming from standby. Usually, the connection restores after 10 seconds or so, but I'd like for it to work immediately. I have observed this behavior on multiple wireless networks and have the latest BIOS and intel drivers and am running windows 7. Does anyone know how to solve this issue?

Answer:Slow Intel Wireless Reconnection After Resuming from Standby

When you put your ThinkPad into standby, any active WiFi sessions will be terminated.  When you wake it up again, a new WIFi session will need to be established.

Any WiFi connection will need some time to establish a session with an access point,  so its never going to function "immediately".   10 seconds is not at all excessive for establishing a WiFi session.

I used to get a BIOS password prompt after pressing <Fn> Key to resume from standby mode.  Recently, my R52 stopped prompting me with the BIOS password, and takes me directly to the Windows logon. Can you tell me what option to set in the BIOS to require a BIOS password upon resuming from standby mode? Thanks much, Q

Answer:How do you require BIOS Password Prompt after resuming from Standby Mode?

Im not sure that you can set leptop to ask bios password after resuming from standby, but laptop will ask it you use hibernate option. Maybe you used hibernate before thats why its was working?

This was a fresh install system less than six months ago. All of the sudden, it can standby or hibernate fine, but gives me STOP error 0x7E when I resume. Sometimes it doesn't even do that and just restarts instead. I have tried all the suggestions mentioned in this thread and made sure the video driver (and most other drivers) is up to date. Any ideas what could be causing this? Thanks. - 2B

Answer:STOP 0x7E or instant restart when resuming from standby or hibernate

Ah ha, I figured it out. Looks like the problem was the Blackbird tuner card. I haven't got Media Center working yet, so I've just got the card disabled until I can find the appropriate driver. For those of you reading this with tuner cards and funky drivers and STOP errors when resuming from standby or hibernate, this might just be the problem. - 2B

I'm having a minor issue here, most likely a software issue.  Sometimes after resuming from Standby, or just normally booting, colors on screen appear washed out. I would attach images, but unfortunately my camera doesn't appear to reflect what I am seeing well enough. I have turned off the Intel power save settings which I thought were causing this. Also, this issue appears when running on battery and AC. Any input would be greatly appreciated.   Thanks!  Specs T530 Windows 8 Pro X64i7-3720QMNvidia 5400m/HD40004GB DDR3750GB WD Black

I have just done a clean install of Windows 8 on my X230 tablet.  Before installing Windows 8 I installed the most recent BIOS for this machine (version 2.50).  After installing Windows 8 I installed System Update from the Lenovo Website and downloaded all the recommended drivers and other files.  I've also installed all the latest Windows 8 updates. Here are the symptoms of my problem: After resuming from standby/sleep mode, my USB ports do not work.  My computer has two USB 3.0 ports and one USB 2.0 ports.  All exhibit the same behavior.  After resuming from standby mode I have tried inserting both my mouse and a USB thumbdrive, but neither are recognized.  After restarting Windows, the USB ports work again... until I resume from standby mode again. I hope there is a solution to this issue.  It is very frustrating.

Answer:USB ports don't work after resuming from standby with Windows 8 on X230 tablet

You can try this (semi-shot in the dark but it's solved similar issues for me in the past with Windows 8/X220 and the Tablet not working after resuming from standby).  Go to control panel, find your USB device(s) and go to the properties for the one or however many devices are listed that apply, and in the properties, find a tab or section related to power management and uncheck the box that "allows computer/windows to turn off the device to save power". Perhaps it's not the most elegant solution, perhaps it's not a solution at all in your case, but at least here I've found it effective in some cases but I don't know if it's draining more power while sleeping than it otherwise would..   Hope it works as at least a temporary workaround to your frustrations though.. good luck.

Twice in the past two days I've resumed from standby and found that my keyboard keys don't work, except for the spacebar and delete, and that the mouse works fine. I shut down the system completely and restart and everything works fine. Going to standby and back works fine for a while, but after idle time it starts locking out certain keys again.

I'm using a Windows XP with Google Chrome as my browser
The problem started when I was trying to get to Youtube. I clicked the link and a fatal error occurred. Something about a redirect loop. One of the possible solutions google gave me was to clear all cookies and so I did. But then when I did that and went to my desktop, my wallpaper was gone and it said "Active Desktop Recovery" "Active desktop has been turned off" etc. I ran ATF Cleaner and Super-Anti-Spyware free edition in safe mode and thought the problem was solved. Anti-Spyware found something called "Hijacker.Tubby" and "Hijacker.Deskbar" It quarantined them and I thought it was done. But my Active desktop was still disabled and the driver for my wacom tablet isn't running.
I need this solved as quick as possible because this problem is setting me back on several assignments for my art class. I can't just start over on a piece of paper; too much time was put into the work that's already been done.
