X230 Tablet Thinkpad Intel Mgmt Engine Firmware Update Has HUNG at 28%

Question: X230 Tablet Thinkpad Intel Mgmt Engine Firmware Update Has HUNG at 28%

Hi - I'm updating the Intel Mgmt Engine Firmware on my X230 Tablet Thinkpad. It got as far as 28% and has been hung for over an hour. There is a big message that says "Warning: Do not exit the process or power off the machine before the firemware up date process ends." Any ideas on what I should do since it's hung at 28%? It is plugged into power, and I did run it from the C:\DRIVERS/WIN/ME directory. Thanks.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A couple of days ago i updated the Intel Management Engine Firmware to version 9.5 through the Lenovo System Update software. Imediately after restarting I noticed how much slower the computer was. It took some extra time to boot up, and was much, MUCH slower at starting up apps like spotify and firefox, etc. I also noticed a massive slowdown when playing. The task manager shows a normal usage of CPU, RAM and GPU, I'm usually at no more than 40% and I can still notice the slow down at all times. Is there a way to roll this update back? Do I have to wait until another not-messed up update? Thanks in advance.

Hello All - I'm suspicious that the IT guy I hired is snooping, but I'm not savvy enough to figure it out myself. On August 18, 2016, I can see (in my Event Viewer) where isaAgent began logging activity/info (and I think passing it on to a server). I've seen the word "packet" a lot of times when digging through the programs I believe are suspicious. On the same day and time as isaAgent began logging, I can see where Intel Management Engine Components, Intel Rapid Storage Technology, Intel Serial IO, Intel Virtual Buttons, Realtek Card Reader, Intel Graphics Driver and Dolby Audio X2 Windows API SDK were all installed on my computer.

Is it possible that my activity (browser, keystrokes, screen captures, voice, camera, etc...) has been compromised and that he is logging/snooping on my laptop? This guy is wicked smart and one of the most talented web developers (28 years old) that I have ever seen, which makes me think he wouldn't make it easy for me to catch on to him. I just don't know where to look and what these programs "actually" do. I do know that they are logging and monitoring tools, but I'm not sure to what extent or if there is something (program/indicator)I should look for that would tell me that I am right or wrong for being concerned.

Does anyone have any feedback or guidance on the above? I would really like to be proven wrong, but the business owner in me has to inspect what I suspect.

I am trying to fix 2 problems with my Thinkpad, which are causing system reliability and stability issues: 1. updateui.exe stopped working. Answer:Problems with Intel(R) Manageability Engine Firmware Recovery Agent software on Thinkpad E430

Since my last post, I have contacted Intel support who have stated the following in relation to Intel(R) Manageability Engine Firmware Recovery Agent version 1.0.0.35342. "Please note that the version 1.0.0.35342 is provided exclusively by Lenovo, and it is not available as a generic version in our site since it is an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) product. I would recommend contacting Lenovo and ask for a higher level, they might be able to provide access to their software or a way to safely remove it from your system." "This product is OEM and does not have a generic equivalent that can be downloaded from our website. Also note that we recommend contacting Lenovo since they are the ones that may determine the degree in which this software was integrated in their Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) Operating System  image and if the software can be removed or not without causing problems in your computer." "Thank you again for contacting Intel Technical Support. We are sorry for the inconvenience." Does anyone have the expertise to advise on this problem or the solution?

On my P50, when I check for updates with Lenovo Companion, it always tries to install Intel Management Engine 11.0 Firmware, and it downloads, says it failed when the little black command prompt opens, reboots, and then the update history said it was installed, yet Intel Management Engine 11.0 Firmware keeps popping up as an update.  What is this update supposed to do? Why is it failing? Everything else on this computer is up to date.

When I run the "Update" app on "Lenovo Companion" it tells me I need this and then appears to go through the whole installation process followed by a reboot. But then when I run the "Update" app again it tells me I still need to install it, as if it never happened. I went to the Lenovo support page to try to install it from there but I have the same problem, in that after rebooting and running the "Update" feature it tells me I still need to install it. Any ideas? Thanks.

I have a ProBook 450 G3 running Windows 10. I am planning on updating the BIOS to N78 Ver. 01.15 Rev.A (from Ver. 01.12). I noticed the following statement on the BIOS download page: "HP strongly recommends updating the Management Engine firmware to version 11.0.18.1002 to prevent BIOS/Management Engine firmware corruption issues.". How can I determine the version of the IME firmware on my system? The latest version of the IME firmware for download is 11.0.0.1202 ... should I just go ahead and download and install that before the BIOS update? Thanks in advance,Mike

Answer:BIOS Update / Intel Management Engine Firmware

Hello, Thank you for posting in the HP Support forum. To answer your question about Intel ME... Perhaps in the Control Panel > Programs and features. When you find it there click on it and it should show a versionorif you search for it in C:\Program files or C:\Program files (x86) and search inside the folder, it should show the version somewhere. You may also see if this tool will work on W10 > https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/19009     But considering you already have experience with BIOS things , I am wondering why do you want to do it again... General recommendation I provide to users/customers is NOT to upgrade BIOS/UEFI unless they experience any kind of specific BIOS/UEFI issue. Updating just for the "noble cause" of updaing and just for using the latest verson is not solution. Any kind of update (no matter for what and who relesed it) can fix 2 issues but may introduce 10 more issues. Additionally, upgrading the BIOS (for any vendor) poses more risks because BIOS recovery is not that easy as compared to typical software updates IF something goes wrong. Same applies for Windows Updates, OS update, drivers updates, etc - upgrade/update IF you have issues which you know are fixed in the newer version or for some severe security issues. Otherwise, keep the existing version as long as possible.

Hello everyone, Lenovo System Update keep asking me to install version 10.0.56.3002 of Intel Management Engine Firmware on my ThinkPad Yoga 12 (Type 20DK) running Windows 10 Pro x64. Once I install the update, a cmd window pops up for a fraction of a second, then my PC restarts. However, the installation seems to fail as System Update keeps asking me to install the update again after the reboot. I was pretty shocked to see this update.  Apparently, intel management engine is a backdoor which allows full control of the machine, even if the power is off. It is something on intel motherboards.  It has been noted that a backdoor can be used by a) legitimate corporate administrators, b) hackers c) gov. organisations. Firstly, why would any user want to install a back door which allows undetectable access to the machine without the users knowlege or inteveition? Secondly, why is this installed by Lenovo as standard, if it is only used by some large organisations? Or am I wrong? I have seen many articales about it saying "Intels management engine is the single most dangerous piece of computer hardward ever created", mainly because it has access to everything and noone knows exactly what it can do. Now I am trying to find a way to remove this major security back door. It seems that noone knows if disabling it in the bios is actaully disabling it, or not. It seems not, as you can still get a response from AMT if you hit: http://127.0.0.1:16992/logon.htm, and if you open the "intel management and security status" application, it says that AMT is enabled. It seems ifyou connect to a public wifi, the machnes AMT is avaible to everyone on the network. I have also seen that there are exploits allowing hackers to gain full access to your machine with trivial exploits such as sending null password. Very very bad. ... Answer:critical update: "intel management Engine 8.1 Firmware" a potential major security back door?

Management Engine's behavior has been well documented since it's inception. You're a little late to the party The legitimate and intended use of the feature is for system administrators to provision and manage corporate machines remotely and conveniently. It's not installed by Lenovo as standard, but rather Intel on any platform certified vPro (your system would have had this sticker from the factory). If you are not in a corporate environment managed by Intel AMT, then it only provides risks and zero benefit. Removing it is impossible; wiping the ME firmware externally causes your system to shutdown 30 minutes after boot. The firmware update you see fixes an exploitable vulnerability that was recently discovered in Intel's ME firmware.

Hi,I run a fleet of T430 and X230. A few SSDs have failed, and occasionally I am getting 45K0667 sent for my X230, but all T430 are getting 45N8357. A few X230 are getting 45N8357.I have swapped SSDs between the two (because they are specced the same) and they boot without problem. The major difference I could see between the two FRUs is that 45K0667 seems to run firmware LE1i while 45N8357 runs firmware LE1i FDE. My searching tells me that LE1i is a lenovo-rolled firmware on the intel SSDs, but I do not know what the FDE firmware means. It's interesting to note that it takes less time to have a LE1i SSD replaced than an LE1i FDE SSD replaced. What does LE1i FDE mean? How is it different to the LE1i firmware? Incididentally, I am running checkpoint FDE on all drives.

Answer:T430 / X230 Intel 520 series SSD Firmware: LE1i FDE

Let me start by saying I don't know for sure.  But to me, FDE on that drive means hardware encryption that is enabled by setting a HDD password in BIOS setup.  Since you are running checkpoint software encryption, this is not something you would do.  So for you, the FDE vs non-FDE drives are exactly the same.

Also, there is a new version of firmware for those drives, "LF1i", that was released recently.  Maybe it will solve some of the problems you've been having.

Hello, I do have X230 , and recently i Have decided to buy LTE modem (WWAN) because i'm traveling a lot and need internet access. Also in Poland we have Aero2 nation wide network with very cheap data packets (1$ for 3 GB, or 5$ for 30GB for 30 days) so it is a lot of data as for "backup" connection. So i Have ordered Sierra WIreless MC7700 because that card is whitelisted in Bios and can be used on that particular machine. And..... card was not working at all, GPS not working, i Have started downloading GPS enablers and drivers for that card from lenovo but it was a time when windows 10 was "new" there were problems with drivers etc. but i have managed to get it working. everything was fine till the day that i Have ordered 16 GB of RAM and LITEON 256 GB SSD drive to make the mashine a bit more efficent. I had to install Clean copy of WIN 10 because of drive swap, and now i cannot connect with WWAN. The card is shown in device manager, i see it in notification center, alsow in control panel internet settings I do have Mobile listed. But it does not want to "see" the simcard. Do you have the latest version of the Intel 100 Series Chipset Driver to go along with the updated ME and USB3 drivers?
If not, install the chipset first, reboot and test the rodents. Assuming they still work correctly, update the other 2 drivers, one at a time, rebooting in between each install, and testing the mouse wheel. If nothing else, you might figure out which driver is the offender.
Make sure you still have a suitable System Restore point before updating anything.

I have thinkpad x230 tablet, and I have mixed feeling about it. Hello all,
I have DELL Inspiron 15R 5520 with freshly installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit SP1 but some annoying issues began to occur after cold booting my laptop :
1- 15 seconds delay between the power up lights turn on and the DELL BIOS logo.
2- A yellow mark appears next to Intel Management Engine Interface Driver with Error Code 10 ( this device could not start ), but this problem disappears when i restart my laptop and comes back after a cold boot.
I tried many things to solve this problem but none of them worked for me :
1- I tried a clean install of Windows and installing all drivers in correct order > didn't work.
2- I tried upgrading to latest BIOS and resetting CMOS Battery > same problem.
3- I tried uninstalling IMEI driver and reinstalling it again after a restart > nothing works.
A friend of mine told me that there may be a problem with Intel Management Firmware and this could probably cause that slow BIOS startup and the problem of IMEI driver in device manager.
So, can anyone suggest an effective way to fix that Intel Management Engine firmware corruption ?
And if its not the firmware...what could cause that BIOS delay ? Could the MB be faulty or something ?
I'm waiting for your replies and thanks in advance.

Hello, We are currently having some issues with waking up a X230-2324CTO from a sleep. When awoken from sleep it is unable to open any programs. Programs for example an icon on the taskbar will glow up like if you would normally open a program but then will return to a normal icon like suggesting it was never pressed and no program will open. Our hope is that the solution is a SSD Firmware update. The have the system updated with every update available for the X230-2324CTO using System Update but this one remains. Tho we can't figure out how to do this SSD Firmware Update. We don't have a CD drive in this model and when using an USB external disk drive (Samsung) we are unable to boot to the CD. The question now is can someone provide us with a very clear step by step manual in how to create such a CD the documentation with the update FWSS31 is very poor to say the least. What do we need to create such a CD and how do we need to do it. Thanks for the support

Answer:X230 SSD Firmware Update help

Is the X230 running Win7 or Win8?
If it's Win8, the difficulty in booting the CD may be because of UEFI mode:

try this:
1.  reboot the system and press F1 to enter BIOS setup
2.  go to the restart page, and change "OS Optimized Defaults" to "no" and confirm it.
3.  press F9 to load setup defaults
4.  press F10 to save and exit
5.  press F12 to load the boot menu, and try to boot the CD again.

Hi everyone:I am considering to upgrade my wireless adapter for my laptop. Currently I am using Thinkpad X230 Tablet with Intel Centrino Wireless N 2200. My laptop has bluetooth. I have questions:1. Does the bluetooth come with my wireless adapter? I mean that If I upgrade my wireless card, do I have to buy a card with wifi and bluetooth? 2. I am considering to upgrade to Intel 62205 AN. This is the linkhttp://www.superbiiz.com/detail.php?name=INT-62205&show=p Is that worth to upgrade? (functionality, price, ...)  Is the product compatible with my current Thinkpad X230T?  3. Can I install 2 cards and run silmultanerously . It sounds greedy but I know a software, named "connectify"; it allows laptop to connect many networks silmutanerously, for example: 4G, Lan, wifi.  4. I see some people mention about Intel Ultimate 6300. What additional functionalities do I get compared to 62205  or Intel 2200? Thank you.

Answer:Upgrade Wireless Adapter for Thinkpad X230 Tablet

1. Bluetooth and wireless cards are separate on the ThinkPad X220, X220t, X230, and X230s. http://www.flickr.com/photos/lead_org/8276508687/in/set-721576320273504682. You would need an Intel 6205 card with Lenovo FRU number on it, generic one won't work. 2200 only operates in the 2.4 ghz bandwidth, while the 6205 can operate in both 2.4 and 5 ghz bandwidth. So the question is does your router have 5 ghz bandwidth and support MIMO?3. No you can't. The WWAN/mSATA slot would give an error message saying an unauthorized card is installed (1801 error). 4. 6300 card has 3 x 3 setup and operates in 2.4 ghz and 5 ghz range. Max speed of 450 mpbs6205 has 2 x 2 setup, 2.4/5 ghz range, and max speed of 300 mbps.2200 has 2 x 2 setup, but operates in the 2.4 ghz range and max speed of 300 mbps.

Hello,  I'm having some trouble with turning on my laptop. The problem originally started when some keys on my keyboard stopped working. I cleaned the keys, restarted my laptop, tried a previous restore point and then did a hard reset after nothing worked to fix my laptop.  After hard resetting, I tried turning on my laptop and it did not turn on. So far, I've plugged in my laptop into the adaptor, plugged the adaptor directly into the wall outlet, and removed the battery and plugged in the laptop. The one thing I have noticed with my laptop is that when I plug in the adaptor, the battery and sleep lights turn on for a moment, then the sleep light turns off, and the battery light will stay on momentarily but then it will blink off after a few seconds. What else should I do? Thank you

No problem. The system just ran diskchk - a windows utility to check the integrity of your drive. That normally happens after an unusual shutdown.

for reference, on my t60p, i have the trackpad disabled in bios because i never use it ( trackpoint evangelist here ). regardless, when i'm at the windows 7 login screen, my trackpad is active. as soon as i'm logged in and i've got a windows desktop, the trackpad is inactive. i'm not sure why i have that small window where it works, but there it is, fwiw.

Answer:Lenovo Thinkpad X230 Tablet - Display Problem

If it is under warranty, call for service, rather than dealing with it. The first step is to unplug it and remove the battery. Press the power button 5 times, holding it for 10 seconds on the last push. Put it back together; plug it in, and try again.

I have just completed a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate and all went well except for the screen brightness issue. Anyone have any ideas where I can simply increase this as I have searched everywhere for screen brightness, even BIOS for any setting for display. I have latest update to display driver. I have two other laptops and each shows much brighter than this one and I am surely disappointed in this display. Not sure if it is because this screen is touch enabled and also works off keyboard that could be the issue and a separate setting could be involved on the touch side of the display as it does work with a stylus pen or touch also. thanks and   I hope I can get this brightness to increase somewhat as it is too hazy for me.

I have been waiting for one year for the x230 tablet with the win8 installed, but unfortunately, Lenovo did nothing's, why it have to wait, rather than upgrade my self, I believe the current x230t ,s some function will not work , as Lenovo also remove win8 from their websiteX230 tablet as a top level business laptop without windows8 is unreasonable, as win8 already available for so long timeI also believe Lenovo will have to do something to produce x230t with windows8, or new x240t with win8, because too many thinkpad fans waiting for that

Answer:Why thinkpad x230 tablet without windows 8 installed from the factory? What is the real reason?

To be a windows 8 certified device with touch screen feature, it has to have at least 5 points touch. The X220t and X230t uses a 2 point touch screen, so they do not meet the minimum requirement for Windows 8.

Greetings everyone!I've got a Lenovo T520 running Windows 7 Pro 64-bit with Service Pack 1. Two days ago I upgraded Intel Management Engine Firmware to version 7.1.91.3272 via Lenovo System Update. Since then my laptop has lost the ability to sleep. When I press the Sleep key my laptop performs an emergency power-off and then asks me if I want to start Windows normally or in the safe mode when I power it up again. The hybrid sleep function still works, but it takes much longer than just dumping the current session into RAM. I tried everything: updated the BIOS firmware (1.46) and the Intel 3000 video card drivers (9.17.10.4229). I have the latest Lenovo Power Manager software (6.68.13) too.Is there a way to roll back the Intel Management Engine Firmware to an earlier version?

I got my X230 Tablet recently and want to run it under Windows 8. After upgrading yesterday, the Touch Screen refuses to work: the position is always in the bottom right corner, but clicking is recognized. The effect is that all windows are closed and opened alternately when touching the screen. Quite annoying, in particular as in Windows 8 the Touch screen would be actually very useful. I updates all drivers and bios, as far as possible, but the Touch Screen behavior remained. Somebody suggested that a clean installation of Windows 8 does lead to a well working Touch Screen. I tried it once, but after about two hours of computer work, Windows came back with the message that the installation failed, and thus I stay with my non working Touch Screen. What do I have to do to get my Touch Screen working again? The Wacom Pen is fine, so I can live with the X230 for the time being, but working with my fingers on the screen would be actually nice - and it beats those iBooks by lengths. Who has ideas?

I have a ThinkPad X230 that began to display the yellow exclamation point icon for "No internet access" after I did a batch of updates.  It has an Intel Advanced-N 6205 wireless card and is updated to the newest BIOS.  I tried everything I could find on Google to try and fix the issue, and found no issues in these forums to users having an issue.  So after fighting with it for a day, I decided to wipe the system and reinstall Windows. I loaded Windows 7 Enterprise X64 with SP1 and did not domain join the laptop, so it is totally untouched Windows.  and then installed the Intel wired networking drivers version 11.15.16.0, which were downloaded from Lenovo.  I then installed the Intel wireless network drivers version 15.03.1000.1637 which were also downloaded from Lenovo.  Everything is working fine at this point.  I then loaded TVSU 5.02.0011 to get all the other Lenovo software.  One of the updates offered was Intel wireless 15.6.1, so being careful, I selected only that update and installed it.  After a restart, the yellow icon is there, even though I haven't yet connected to any wireless network - it is in place for the wired connection too.  Uninstalling the 15.6.1 drivers would not make it go away.  Installing 15.03.1000.1637 again also doesn't make it go away. A System Restore to revert to before the installation occurs does make the icon go away. I did some more searching on Google and the Intel Commu... Answer:"No Internet access" yellow icon on ThinkPad X230 after updating Intel PROSet wireless drivers

Hi there, Nobody else has had any problems with Intel PROSet wireless drivers 15.6+? Some further info about the configuration of the Lenovo ThinkPad X230 that I have this issue on:- Windows 7 Enterprise x64- UEFI boot- Intel vPro enabled on wired and wireless interfaces- BitLocker disk encryption using TPM (note: I did encounter the problem without BitLocker being used too) Also here is the proper link to a forum post on Intel Communities about this same issue:http://communities.intel.com/thread/38498

I am having problems with my TP X201i CTO (freezes, very poor battery time) and have been trying to figure what is wrong. Have reinstalled the OS several times, but makes no difference. I now noticed that I have Intel Management Engine version 6.2.50.1050 installed. Interestingly, this version does not seem to exist when I search for my machine (x201i, 3249, with Windows 8.1 Pro) on the drivers and downloads page at Lenovo.com. The latest version appears to be 6.2.50.1062, and the previous version was 6.2.20.1040 - and my version is in-between (!): http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS012852 The obvious question is: should I upgrade to .1062? I guess Win8 and Win8.1 are sufficiently similar to mostly use the same drivers (the page only notes Win8, not Win8.1). Interestingly, I've used the "Update Driver..." utility in the Device Manager, but it claims I already have the latest version (?). Please help.

Hello, after searching for solutions to Windows 10 overheating problems (I've had to roll back to 8.1) I've found out that Intel ME firmware is upgradeable. My current firmware version is 8.0.2.1410, quite lower than the last 8.1.52.1496 version. I am however doubtful by the risk of bricking my laptop.Has anyone tried to upgrade Intel ME Firmware in V3-571G (my current model) or other Acer laptop? Or else, has anyone solved overheating in V3-571G after upgrading to Windows 10? The info and new firmwares are here

Hello everyone, Recently I purchased a second-handed ThinkPad-x230 with part number of 2324LZ4. The BIOS is oddly old (G1ET32WW), so I went to the support page and downloaded the latest BIOS update utility from here http://support.lenovo.com/us/zh/downloads/ds029187 with the version G2ETA8WW. When I run the utility, I got an error message "BIOS directory cannot be found". I also tried the USB update method, also similar message and to no avail. My question is, 1. It seems that the newest BIOS does not compactible to my x230 since the version starts with G2 while mine starts with G1. Is my assumption correct?2. If so, where could I found the right image?3. I found someone on the internet successfully flashed CoreBoot to replace the original BIOS. Is it safe? Thank you for your attention.

I am trying to Update the Intel ME Firmware as offered at http://pcsupport.lenovo.com/de/de/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-x-series-laptops/thinkpad-x...But it seems that the files linked still contain FW Version 7.1.86.1221 and not 7.1.91.3272 (same for the readme) and thus not the fix. Do i miss something?

Answer:X220 Intel AMT Firmware Update

Hi did1982, and welcome to the Lenovo User Community!

I just ran the updater on my X220 and got version 7.1.91.3272. The exact download I used is called 83rf46ww and is on this page:

http://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/LAPTOPS-AND-NETBOOKS/THINKPAD-X-SERIES-LAPTOPS/THINKPAD-X...

The installation is a two-step process. First you double click on the download to extract the files, second you follow the readme and open an elevated command prompt then execute the updater.

Please post the name of the download file you are using, and a link to the download page.

Hope this helps!

I have just upgraded and activated my ThinkPad X201 Tablet PC (i7 L640 @2.13 GHz, 4GB DDR3 RAM) to Windows 10 Pro (64-bit) from the original Windows 7 Pro (64-bit). The tablet appears to run fine in Windows 10 Pro. However, the Task Manager's Performance tab page shows the CPU run at the frequency between 1.17 and 1.20 GHz, even as the tablet takes several tasks and runs at 60% and above and the tablet's power mode is set to high-performance.

What went wrong? What are the things that I need to check? Please advise.

This update fixes a bug in earlier version where BSOD occurs if managment engine components are deactivated.   But in order to complete the recommended update, user must first uninstall managment engine components, then install new version.   Can someone please explain then why uninstalling the management engine components in order to upgrade won't leave me with BSOD and no way to proceed?   Also, does anyone know how to determine in Windows 8.1 what version of .NET Framework is presently installed?  New version of Intel management engine components required at least version 3.5. Thanks for the help.

Answer:Avoid BSOD bug -- Lenovo Sys Update says update Intel Management Engine Components

It should be alright. Guessing wildly, but I think by "deactivated" it means deactivated in the BIOS settings. Make a restore point you can restore to just in case it goes bad.Windows 8.1 has at least .NET Framework 3.5 by default.

I am caught in a loop for this critical update. Everytime I start, the Lenovo prompt to update comes up. I execute the drill, the PC is rebooted, and next time up I'm asked to do it again ... and again ... and again. How do I check if the update has been made, and, if not, what's the work-around? Direct to Intel downloads?

Answer:Fail: Intel Management Engine FW Update Utility Critical Update

Welcome to the forum.

I had the same problem with one of my ThinkPads using Lenovo Companion's Systen Update function. I was able to resolve it by downloading the update from Lenovo's website, then applying it manually.

The system update wanted me to run the latest critical updates but now it has stopped at 91%. In the console window it says it is currently sending the update image to FW for verification and that I MUST NOT shut down my computer until it is done. Thus verification is at 79% and has been so for quite some time now. What should I do?

Hello. Back story, our company has purchased and now rolled out our Lenovo X1 Yoga laptops (model 20FQ).  During the rollout, we installed all of the drivers from lenovo's site via the MDT driver package and then deployed the latest System Inteface Foundation so we could install teh Lenovo Settings app later down the road via the Windows 10 App store.   We have not installed the lenovo settings or lenovo companion apps from the store but are now receiving reports of users getting a message from "Lenovo Companion" that an update is available.  The update that is available is an Intel ME firmware update.  Is there a way to disable or prevent these updates from pushing to users via registry or configuration file? Does the System Interface Foundations app contain the Lenovo Companion app or the update features?   Screenshot of update message attached.  We do have the ADMX templates for Lenovo Companion and Settings in our AD/GPO; would disabling updates in the GPO for Companion prevent these from running even though we don't really have the actual Companion app installed? Thanks!Further details:Win10 x64 Enterprise Edition 1607 build w/all latest patches/updates.

Answer:X1 Yoga and Intel ME Firmware update being pushed but how?

Lenovo System Interface Foundation (LSIF) is doing this.  The only purpose of this app is to support Lenovo Settings and Lenovo Companion, so if you don't install these apps, there is no point to install LSIF.  One of the features of LSIF is to automatically install "critical" updates for Lenovo software and drivers, such as this recent Intel ME Firware update.
