Thinkpad Display Port problem (disconnect and reconnect) X230 Tablet

Question: Thinkpad Display Port problem (disconnect and reconnect) X230 Tablet

Hello I have 2 thinkpads (X230 Tablet and X1 Cabon) with display port. I connected a Dell monitor (u2414H) to them but the monitor keeps blinking, disconnect then reconnect. It happens to both laptops. I connect the monitor with my graphic card, and it runs with no problem. Does anyone have any idea what happens? Thanks

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi, My Thinkpad X230 tablet screen is not truning on.  It just shows the dark blank screen. The power button is on, all other indicators are green.I have tried removing the battery, holding Fn button etc. Can someone help to resolve this issue please.. Thank You.

Answer:Lenovo Thinkpad X230 Tablet - Display Problem

If it is under warranty, call for service, rather than dealing with it. The first step is to unplug it and remove the battery. Press the power button 5 times, holding it for 10 seconds on the last push. Put it back together; plug it in, and try again.

Hey there!

the tl;dr is that external hdds keep disconnecting/reconnecting when connected to a certain usb port. the story below might help you guys help me as it kinda shows what I've tried already and when the problems started

when it started/system backstory:
I seem to be having problems with a certain usb port. I have a lenovo y500 laptop with 2 usb ports on the left side, and 1 on the right. I'm not sure if they all support usb 3, but at least one does (I'll look up the specifics on this later/if relevant).

I own several external hdds (some usb2, some usb3) and up until recently, have never encountered any problems with hooking more than 1 up to my laptop. I recently purchased another WD My Book 4TB, and proceeded to hook that one and one of the same type that I already owned (and that has/had worked flawlessly since I bought it months ago), up to my laptop. Everything seemed fine. However, the next time I started up my laptop, with the 2 drives still attached, the new drive attached to one of the left usb ports, started acting up right away. Constantly disconnecting/reconnecting. Which it hadn't done at all the previous day/night, when I had used it for quite a lot of hours.
what I've tried already:
Since I found a lot of IO errors in the event log, I figured it was probably the hdd dying. However, when I hooked up another external hdd today, one that I have fully checked less than a week ago, and it started to do the exact same thing, I figured it was probably som... Read more

Answer:External HDDs disconnect/reconnect on certain USB Port

Most likely a power problem. The rated power of 500ma isn't much and can easily be overloaded. The power circuit to the port in question may be going bad. If so it won't make any difference if the drive is externally powered.

I have a U310 running Windows 8.1 that has had issues since it was purchased 1.5 years ago. The SSD died shortly after purchase, and was replaced by Lenovo (but not programmed at all...they just threw a new SSD in and no formatting was done). This computer does not boot quickly, but I can live with that. The real issue is the WiFi connectivity. This unit recognizes my home network, but often will not connect. After turning WiFi on/off, or disconnecting and reconnecting, it often says that the network is connected but the signal is limited. Alternatively, it will say the computer is connected to the network with full bars, but the internet will not load and Chrome (and other browsers) do not recognize a connection. All other wireless devices in my home work perfectly and NEVER drop the connection. This Lenovo is the only unit experiencing any issues. I've re-installed the WiFi drivers, but no change in activity was noted. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I don't want to purchase a new computer, but this unit needs to be able to connect to WiFi reliably.

I have thinkpad x230 tablet, and I have mixed feeling about it. It is a quite powerful one, does most of the job but have too many design flaws - broken rubber latch after a while and rubber buffers in the bottom etc.,  I hate the new gen x240 laptop, especially the X series convertible laptop is discontinued. Stupid, in my opinion, yoga design. I, no way, want to flip the keyboard to any surface. Especially on a field trip. X240 discontinues Express Card slot, no thunderbolt, no digitizer. The removal of trackpoint 3 click buttons, which were combined with the trackpad. People complain a lot when they accidentally click the trackpad while typing. I am a trackpoint person, not trackpad person. So the removal was **** retarded, anti consumer, anti Thinkpad legacy!Pls, see this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jb7p3VkQCOo. I did not made this video but 100% agree with this guy.  In addition, it seems to me that newer generations Intel core processor (4th and upcoming 5th) was weeker than ivy bridge processor because Ivy Bridge processors are full power 35W, now, everything is low powered to save the battery life. I have a few questions: 1.Is there anyway, or any company that can make a better thinkpad x230 tablet screen (say upgrading the screen from 1366x768 to higher resolution, improving wacom pen digitizer on the edges 2. Hello,  I'm having some trouble with turning on my laptop. The problem originally started when some keys on my keyboard stopped working. I cleaned the keys, restarted my laptop, tried a previous restore point and then did a hard reset after nothing worked to fix my laptop.  After hard resetting, I tried turning on my laptop and it did not turn on. So far, I've plugged in my laptop into the adaptor, plugged the adaptor directly into the wall outlet, and removed the battery and plugged in the laptop. The one thing I have noticed with my laptop is that when I plug in the adaptor, the battery and sleep lights turn on for a moment, then the sleep light turns off, and the battery light will stay on momentarily but then it will blink off after a few seconds. What else should I do? Thank you

No problem. The system just ran diskchk - a windows utility to check the integrity of your drive. That normally happens after an unusual shutdown.

I have just completed a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate and all went well except for the screen brightness issue. Anyone have any ideas where I can simply increase this as I have searched everywhere for screen brightness, even BIOS for any setting for display. I have latest update to display driver. I have two other laptops and each shows much brighter than this one and I am surely disappointed in this display. Not sure if it is because this screen is touch enabled and also works off keyboard that could be the issue and a separate setting could be involved on the touch side of the display as it does work with a stylus pen or touch also. thanks and   I hope I can get this brightness to increase somewhat as it is too hazy for me.

Hi everyone:I am considering to upgrade my wireless adapter for my laptop. Currently I am using Thinkpad X230 Tablet with Intel Centrino Wireless N 2200. My laptop has bluetooth. I have questions:1. Does the bluetooth come with my wireless adapter? I mean that If I upgrade my wireless card, do I have to buy a card with wifi and bluetooth? 2. I am considering to upgrade to Intel 62205 AN. This is the linkhttp://www.superbiiz.com/detail.php?name=INT-62205&show=p Is that worth to upgrade? (functionality, price, ...)  Is the product compatible with my current Thinkpad X230T?  3. Can I install 2 cards and run silmultanerously . It sounds greedy but I know a software, named "connectify"; it allows laptop to connect many networks silmutanerously, for example: 4G, Lan, wifi.  4. I see some people mention about Intel Ultimate 6300. What additional functionalities do I get compared to 62205  or Intel 2200? Thank you.

Answer:Upgrade Wireless Adapter for Thinkpad X230 Tablet

1. Bluetooth and wireless cards are separate on the ThinkPad X220, X220t, X230, and X230s. http://www.flickr.com/photos/lead_org/8276508687/in/set-721576320273504682. You would need an Intel 6205 card with Lenovo FRU number on it, generic one won't work. 2200 only operates in the 2.4 ghz bandwidth, while the 6205 can operate in both 2.4 and 5 ghz bandwidth. So the question is does your router have 5 ghz bandwidth and support MIMO?3. No you can't. The WWAN/mSATA slot would give an error message saying an unauthorized card is installed (1801 error). 4. 6300 card has 3 x 3 setup and operates in 2.4 ghz and 5 ghz range. Max speed of 450 mpbs6205 has 2 x 2 setup, 2.4/5 ghz range, and max speed of 300 mbps.2200 has 2 x 2 setup, but operates in the 2.4 ghz range and max speed of 300 mbps.

Hello Community,so I recently installed Windows 8 on my X230 Tablet.Everything works fine so far besides my display wont rotate automatically. The rotate-key right under the screen works fine and I have used the Lenovo System Update to get all necessary drivers but the display still does not rotate automatically. Is there a setting that I am not finding or any software/driver that I have to install?

Answer:X230 Tablet - display won't rotate automatically

I solved that problem by installing the Win 7 driver "Tablet Shortcut Menu". The UI for that program doesn't work but at least auto screen rotation works perfectly.  Hope it helped.

I have been waiting for one year for the x230 tablet with the win8 installed, but unfortunately, Lenovo did nothing's, why it have to wait, rather than upgrade my self, I believe the current x230t ,s some function will not work , as Lenovo also remove win8 from their websiteX230 tablet as a top level business laptop without windows8 is unreasonable, as win8 already available for so long timeI also believe Lenovo will have to do something to produce x230t with windows8, or new x240t with win8, because too many thinkpad fans waiting for that

Answer:Why thinkpad x230 tablet without windows 8 installed from the factory? What is the real reason?

To be a windows 8 certified device with touch screen feature, it has to have at least 5 points touch. The X220t and X230t uses a 2 point touch screen, so they do not meet the minimum requirement for Windows 8.

I use an X61 running XP SP2. When I am at my desk, I connect the laptop to my 24" monitor via VGA cable.   Via Ctrl+F7, I can modify my display settings and receive options such as:- Notebook only- Same display- Extended display All of these work fine.  However, just recently, after I disconnect (either using Ctrl+F7 or simply unplugging the VGA connector - both end up with the same result) and later try to re-connect, when I press Ctrl+F7, no menu option appears. When I go to Control Panel | Display, I can 'see' the monitor is connected and I can 'extend' display to the desktop monitor BUT cannot set-up 'same display' from here. The only option that works is to restart the system and then Ctrl+F7 works fine again. I do not believe that I have made any changes to the system that would warrant this change (however, there may have been a recent automatic MS XP update that was loaded). Does anyone have any suggestions on how to handle this?  Do I need to update anything related to the system?

Hello,

My Question is related to Networking but here might be the suitable place for it. I am always connected to Town Wifi with no encryption but to have internet access I have to open the browser and I will be forwarded to a page where I should enter the user name and password after that I have internet access. In normal ISP you can automatically reconnect after disconnection but for this one if I am disconnected from them , I have to open the browser where I should enter the user name and password again.

the problem is that ISP dissconnect the users Twice daily so if I have download I come back to find that the download stopped because there is no internet connection and I have to resume it by entering the user name and password.

there are two cases for the problem. I prefer a solution for case one but solution for case two also OK

1- automatic reconnect after disconnect. So If the internet dissconnect. A Program open the browser and enter the user name and password to have the internet connection back. if the page for the user name and password didn't appear, this mean that ISP is offline for all user for fixing some problem and the program should try again later.

2- trying to open the browser at certain times for example every 4 or 6 hrs to enter the user name and password. if opening the browser doesn't take the program to page for entering the user name and password, this mean that there is internet or there is problem with the ISP and should try again l... Hi, I've been using my router, a SMC2804WBR for about 4-5 years now. It hasn't given me any problems until recently when my connection (wired) would go off for a second, then reconnect again. In this case, both activity and connection lights (orange and green) from my Ethernet card and the router would go off, then on again as it reconnects.

It does not disconnect me from my online games or msn etc, it just gives me a load of packet losses, which is irritating.

OS: Vista home premium 32x
ISP: starhub cable vision (singapore)

3 pcs using a wireless connection, 1 pc using a wired connection.

Tried the following steps,

- reset everything
- firmware upgrade
- disabled firewall
- plugged the LAN cable into the other LAN ports on the router

Things that I did not do, well because i don't have the chance to...

- use a direct connection, I don't have a straight cable long enough
- do a LAN cable test (how do you do one? x_x)

I have no idea what could be the problem, this problem popped up just a week ago.

Thank you for looking into this.

Hello
Since upgrading to Windows 10 I been getting random network disconnects? in Event Viewer I get load of these errors
Event 27
Intel(R) 82579V Gigabit Network Connection
Network link is disconnected.

Event 33
Intel(R) 82579V Gigabit Network Connection
Network link has been established at 100Mbps full duplex.

I have tried the stock driver Windows 10 installed the Microsoft one, an up todate Intel driver and even Rolled back to Windows 8.1 driver I used for months without an issue.

Am lost as to what is happening here.

Answer:Network Disconnect and Reconnect

Known issue. If you can use the Intel driver, not the Microsoft one without disconnects, go that route. If the problem stays, then it is one of the issues that Microsoft is aware of and has not rolled a patch. 10525 just came out for those of us that are Insiders and it added a few more problems to the list.

I am having some intermittent connectivity issues with my network and I have no idea where to start trouble shooting. It seems that from time to time (several times a day) I will lose my connection to the network momentarily. It only happens for a few seconds and I don't even notice it until my yahoo messenger comes up and starts logging on again. I also will notice it if I'm trying to bring a page up and it will say this page cannot be displayed.

I have a desktop computer and it doesn't do it. I stay on my laptop and it is wireless and I'm connected to the internet with a cable modem. I'm running XP on it. I don't have any idea what other information you need.

Please help before I lose my mind!

Thanks so much,
Tammy

Hello, does anyone have similar problem with installation of an ericsson H5321 wwan card? The wwan card was ordered from the official lenovo dealer. The card wasn't installed when I ordered the laptop, but the card itself was delivered separately. The wwan should be on whitelist according to lenovo list, but... The problem is that bios doesn't allow the computer to startup. The bios generates an error: "1802: Unauthorized network card is plugged in.... (0BDB/1926) Computer could be started only without the wwan. On my understanding this problem is related somehow the whitelist in the bios. X230 Tablet, wwan upgradableModel: 3437-2YGBios: GCET22WW (1.11) Wwan card:FRU: 60Y3297Part no: 03A36319Manufactured: 2012-06-17 Does anyone have a solution?

Answer:X230 Tablet and Ericsson H5321 wwan problem

Solution wasn't so simple... The Lenovo support changed a new Gobi 3000 wwan card. That was ok to the bios and laptop was running ok on windows 7. Everything worked well at least in Finland. So the Ericsson wwan card will not work current bios version. This is not mentioned on product catalog. The support changed this board without any costs. Windows 8 problems: Then I changed from win7 pro to win8 pro... Gobi 3000 drivers are not currently on Lenovo website, but you could find the drivers from other website. Drivers called LenovoGobi3kSetup.exe seem to be working ok on Windows 8. You'll find the link from the community to those drivers. ....but! It works until you rotate the display top of the keyboard. Then mobile broadband is disabled and there is no way to turn on this feature. Windows 8 troubleshoot says that the wwan switch is disabled and advices to enable the switch. But there is no any switch for wwan module!!! On windows 7 will work similary but you can switch wwan on when change the display rotation. Settinga are as well in FN+F5 button. But it will not work on windows 8 similary. It just disables all wifi actions. Solution for wwan switch enabling: Just install think vantage access for windows 7! It will give some errors, but ignore them. It will install finally and then you can switch wwan module again on. On my laptop this seem to be working now ok. I'm using think vantage acces only to enable the wwan modul... Read more

I have been using my X230T for about 1 month now.I love it,Contrary to many review, mine came in with no manufacturing default.it sit straight, all part are solid in place. The hand writing is awsome. But I do found that the screen scratches to easily, even the pen after long period of use can make smal scratch. I would have love to see this laptop with the Gorilla screen. And the camera cover is not strong enough, Mine is already cracked. Hoping I can change that eventually. I have one problem that came up recently. When I use it in tablet mode for a long period of time, the mouse pad, button and track ball all stop working.Restart does not fix it, I know I can remove the drivers and run driver update, but this is not a solution.I would really like to see this issue fixed, and if you need me to run test, report to try and build a case scenario I am more then willing to do so.

Answer:X230 Tablet Personnal rewview and minor problem

For the screen scratches I would recommend a screen protector. I myself using on efor about 30? (you consider myself a bit mad^^) But I also assume that its lifespan is about 3 years so the price is ok for me. How did your camera cover crack? Just by the torsion the screen is exposed to? or something else? Regarding your input periphals:What do you mean by "restart does not fix it"? Do mean that they won't take up their work even after you restart the system?

Hi, I'm using a HP Envy dv6-7398ca with Windows 8.1. I've had some spotty internet issues since June but ever since I switched to Comcast in July my internet has been almost unusable on my laptop. No one else has this problem in the household but me, so it's definitely my laptop.

If I'm connected via Ethernet cable, the internet's alright. But the router/modem is in my house's living room, and I'd like to be able to do stuff inside my room.

Online games like World of Warcraft are just impossible. I can log in and it'll take a god awful amount of time to load, and then the game just lags out. For the internet browser (Mozilla), it works fine for 2-3 minutes, but then starts to take forever... and ever... to load. If I disconnect and reconnect, it'll be normal speed again, but the same problem will occur. I'm so exhausted from this.

I'm not that great with computers, but I'm honestly done with taking my laptop to repair places. Everytime I have, some new problem has come up and caused me more frustration and money out of my wallet. :\ (This time, the CD tray will no longer eject. I have no idea how THAT got messed up, but it was working before I took it to the place. Dunno what to do about that, but right now, the wifi is more of a priority) I tried getting help on another forum before I took it to a couple shops, but they didn't really help much at all unfortunately.

Help please. My Internet will disconnect & then reconnect constantly. I have 2 laptops & they are both on my home network & I have no trouble with the other one so I assume there is nothing wrong with both the Internet service & router. The laptop with the problem is an acer/aspire 5720z. The Wireless Network Adapter is a Atheros AR5007EG. When I go to the Adapter Properties the status reads "The device is working properly". When I go to Control Panel>Network & Sharing Center my Wireless Network Connection Signal Strength reads Excellent. Any help would be appreciated. The operating system is Windows Vista Home Premium.

Most of the time, this machine boots fine; but, on relatively rare occasions, it simply will not POST. If I temporarily disconnect the power or turn it off at the power supply switch, it will POST and boot just fine 100% of the time.

This problem has followed this board from its original installation into another case so it isn't the power supply, hard disk or CD drives as they have all been changed, too.

The board is a cheapie, an Amptron all-in-one with an Athlon XP processor.

Any suggestions?

Answer:Sometimes have to disconnect-reconnect power to get POST

Hi,

I've looked through the forum but cant find a solution

I have Acer X3995 running windows 8.1
I have a 4 port USB 3 hub connected (with 4 x USB drives attached) and 1 portable USB 3 drive.

When copying large amounts of data to the drives they will disconnect from the system and then reconnect.

The system will also hang on reboot if the drives are connected (solution is to disconnect, reboot and reconnect when windows logo is present).

Is this simply a USB 3 instability issue I have to live with or is there a something wrong with my drivers?

Please help.

I had a power outage last night and after turning on my PC I noticed that I had a remove hardware safely icon on my toolbar that wasnt there prior. It contains only my hard drives in the menu. Also, there was a very annoying USB disconnect sound then quickly a USB reconnect sound. This happens at random intervals of time and I dont have to be doing anything for them to happen. Ive downloaded the USBview and it did not detect any USB devices disconnecting or reconnecting. ive also disconnected all my USB devices from the computer and the sounds still occur. Ive noticed that when it occurs my PC lags. My device manager page is also refreshing every time the sounds occur. This is the most annoying problem I have ever had.

If you have a Vista disc, boot off of that and choose your Language and then choose Repair Your Computer.
If you don't have a disc, go to Start/Search and type CMD right click the CMD results and Run As Administrator. In the Elevated Command Prompt type SFC /scannow and press enter. This will replace any missing system files.

Hello

I have formatted my computer and re-installed everything as it was before I formatted it. I have updated my chipset, ethernet driver, etc (I use DFI board with nForce4 chipset and the driver comes as an package). And, the ethernet driver must be updated because it was causing problems at bootup. Now, my internet connection disconnects about every 15min and reconnects by itself. It is behind a router and there are three computers connected to the router, and the other two computers do not have this problem. How should I go about figuring out what is wrong?

Thank you very much.

Answer:Internet Auto Disconnect and Reconnect

In General, you can debug the Network Setting of the computer following these steps.

Step One. Check the Network parameters in the Computer's Device Manager. Make sure that the drivers are installed correctly; there is No IRQ conflict, and No Ghost installation. http://www.ezlan.net/faq#ghost

Step Two Verify Basic network setting in the OS: http://www.ezlan.net/Installing#verify
If the above two Steps indicates that every thing looks good but functionally it does not work.

Step Three. Check (and repair if necessary) the Socket Layers, Winsock, and or refresh the TCP/IP Stack. http://www.ezlan.net/clean#refreshnet

If need to Reinstall; Log to this page it have a lot of links to instructions for Windows Network Installation - http://www.ezlan.net/Installing.html

Since doing a clean install of Windows 7 my internet keeps timing out. The icon in the task bar shows that it's normal, but I'll be online and after a couple minutes the internet just stops. When I click on the icon it says "connected" and "internet access."

I have tried on both a Netgear and Apple router, so it's not a router issue. I reset the modem and routers a dozen times. I called my ISP and they said everything looks normal. My Droid phone works fine and so does a Macbook in the house.

I have rolled back my Atheros5007 wireless card driver, which did nothing. And then tried upgrading the latest version, which did nothing. Uninstalled the driver then reinstalled, still with no luck.

This is blowing my mind. I was running Windows 7 fine all year and did the clean install as something I do every year to keep my computer running well. Bad move!

I ran the network diagnostic utility and it said it fixed something, although I'm not sure what. Either way, it didn't actually fix the problem.

Not to mention, I've had the blue screen of death a couple times now. Once when I was connecting my laptop (HP G60t-200) to a Tv, and the other just happened out of nowhere.

Hi there.

So I have a problem with my USBs (either keyboard, mouse or webcam) that disconnects and instantly reconnects during a thunderstorm (whenever there's a thunderbolt, my computer makes the USB connect/disconnect sound and then 'stutters' for a second). This is very, very irritating and causes me to not be able to play games during thunderstorms.

Now I've heard that this is caused by the 'extra static electricity in the air, being picked up by the long keyboard/mouse wire, and causing it to disconnect'... but, my questions is, how do I fix this? Should I wrap all my cables in tin-foil? What can be done about this?

Any help will be appreciated and I'll rep if my problem is solved. Thanks.

Windows 7, SP1, 64bit.

Hello,

I am using Windows 10 and each time I restart the computer I am unable to use the wireless network.

The wireless icon in the taskbar claims it is connected but I have to click disconnect and then connect each time (it is connecting to the correct network).

The issue is limited to Widnows 10 as I dual boot this machine and don't have this problem with debian (nor do any of my other devices on the network).

Any suggestions ?

Answer:Have to disconnect and reconnect wireless each reboot

There are a few things that may need to be looked at.
1 updated drivers for WiFi
2 remove wireless network and reattach it with password.
3 reset networking settings either through the command prompt or with some software like Rizonesoft Complete Internet repair http://www.rizonesoft.com/downloads/ I'm pretty sure it's one of those.. or a combination of all three

The wrt400n works fine.
Except randomly every day or every other day, laptops cannot connect to the router. Router lights are still on, blinking, etc, no change there.
Releasing/renewing IP doesn't work. Turning off wireless radio on laptop and back on doesn't work.
Unplugging and replugging in the router DOES work, and laptops can connect to the router again.
Router is updated to 1.0.02 firmware, sine I thought that was the problem, but after firmware update, problem is still occurring.
Wireless is set to mixed, channel width is auto

Any thoughts?

Please supply the following info, exact make and models of the equipment please.

What country are you located in.
Name of your ISP (Internet Service Provider).
What is the expected Upstream/Downstream speed for your ISP Connection?
Make and exact model of the broadband modem.

Model numbers can usually be obtained from the label on the device.
Connection type, wired or wireless.
If wireless, encryption used, (none, WEP, WPA, or WPA2)
Make and model of your computer.
Version and patch level of Windows on all affected machines, i.e. XP-Home (or XP-Pro), SP1-SP2, Vista, etc.
The Internet Browser in use, IE, Firefox, Opera, etc.

Please give an exact description of your problem symptoms, including the exact text of any error messages.

If you're using a wireless connection, have you tried a direct connection with a cable to see if that changes the symptoms?

If there are other computers on the same network, are they experiencing the same issue, or do they function normally?

On any affected computer, I'd also like to see this:

At random intervals my computer disconnects then reconnects anything in the USB ports - including the built-in optical drive. Symptoms are Windows Explorer randomly pops up showing the contents of my attached hard drives in the Explorer window. I can also hear the system sound that happens when a new USB device is plugged in and I can hear the Optical Drive make the clicking sound normally heard during boot up. I have tested this issue and it happens on all 3 built-in USB ports with devices/drives that are both USB 3 and USB 2.Anyone else have this issue and know how to fix it? Don't know if it's relevant but this issue started just after the warranty expired and the OS was Windows 8.1 at the time- same as when I purchased the unit. My internet provider is a little weird. Sometimes it's necessary to disconnect and reconnect the connection in order to get the highest download speed available. The problem is, when I'm sleeping, I'm losing precious time and bandwitdh when downloading.
What I need, is a program that can monitor traffic usage, and disconnect and reconnect the connection, based on whether the traffic fail to achieve the quota I set beforehand (e.g disconnect if less than 4000 kb within 120 seconds, or something similar.)
When using Windows XP, I used to use HiDialer 2000 Pro to do exactly this. But now I've moved to Windows 7 x64, and that program just doesn't work anymore.
I'm hoping if the program you have in mind worked on Vista, it would work on Win 7 too.
Many thanks

I have a year old sony vaio. For the past few weeks, the internet slows down to the point of being useless. I have stopzilla and have used malbites malware. I was told last week that my computer is clean. They pinged it and got a good response. They said it must be something with COX. I've been using Windows 10 since 2015, and for months it was good. I ran into a few issues here and there but I've either solved them or learned to live with them. Originally I was using a Razer Naga mouse, one of the older ones, and that eventually ran into problems 3-4 months ago. For that mouse, it ended up being frayed wires, the common culprit. However, every mouse I've used since then has been disconnecting/reconnecting in a similar (but not the same) way.

When the Razer Naga disconnected, it did the whole thing. The lights turned off, Windows would make the USB disconnect sound (quickly followed by the reconnect sound), and it would start working again once the wire found that sweet spot. Now I used an old 4 button logitech as a backup, and while it's a little beat up, it still works. When that would disconnect it was like the sensitivity dropped to 0 and Windows didn't make any sound. I ordered a new 20 button logitech- a g600- and this mouse is still having the same issue. What this newer mouse showed me though is that the mouse never actually loses power.

I've tried a few different fixes for this:While my computer is a desktop, someone recommended I turn off a specific setting in the device manager properties for USB Generic Hub, Root Hub, and Input Devices. "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power"
I switched from using a 2.0 USB, to 3.0. No change and I also noticed that the mouse is the only thing affected. My keyboard never loses... Read more

For the last couple of days, with increasing frequency, I will have to disconnect and reconnect to the WiFi in order to do anything. Windows processes have all slowed down considerably too, though a Task Manager check doesn't suggest anything untoward. For example, it is taking at least two seconds formmy hitting the keys for letters to appear in this post.

Any help/advice anyone can offer is much appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Answer:thinkpad x230 problem

If you mean that screen comes back after you press enter on your hard disk? If so it could be. Your hard disk no longer bootable due to Windows is damaged or something else caused the drive to lose its boot so then you would need a reinstall but it could be another issue causing it so I will let some one else give you more ways to fix this.

I'm truly at my ends dealing with this issue, and searching without luck for a fix. As stated above, I've got a 2015 era Lenovo Yoga 12 (S2?) 20DK that has been used on and off over the last 18 months. About 6 months ago it started; while flipping the screen from laptop mode to tablet mode, the screen will flicker a few times and after completing the transition to tablet the screen is off. Won't power up, nothing. Now during the act of flipping to tablet mode I can stop at certain points before folding it totally flat into tablet mode, and it will work fine (keyboard/mouse disabled, screen rotation works). There seems to be a sweet spot at about a 45 degree angle in tablet mode that it works fine. Even like that, if I even bump it a little more towards full on flipped back tablet mode, it'll shutdown. I've just been ignoring the problem for the most part but for a new job I started I need it to go into full tablet mode. Everything works fine in traditional Laptop Mode. I've tried updating the Driver, BIOS, and Windows.I've disabled the Sensor Data Service and Sensor Monitoring ServiceTried using a strong magnet on different points around bottom of bezel to "fool" any sensors Nothing is working. My gut always assumed this was hardware related due to a bad sensor of some sort but I cant find anything close to this issue using Google-Fu. This is literally the first forum I've ever signed up on and posted something because I'm THAT DESPERATE!  Shower me with a... Read more

How to avoid having to Power Reset a battery
As it turns out, the previous solution only improved my situation. My laptop will now power on without a power reset.
But if I leave it off overnight, I have to remove the battery and then put it back in in order to power on.
It will also power on using A/C without a power reset and without removing the battery.
I am thinking that this is a driver related issue. I uninstalled and reinstalled the two battery drivers and that resulted in my current situation. I have purchased two new batteries and they both behave the same.
Can someone help me determine how to check battery and driver compatibility?

I have been experiencing the following problem when accepting or placing a video call through Skype. This never happens when running any other software. My system is an ideaCentre B520 with the stock Bluetooth keyboard and mouse using a Broadcom BCM2070 device running firmware 6.5.1.2700 and a Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator with firmware 6.1.7601.17889.The Bluetooth mouse and keyboard disconnect during the call and will not pair or connect wit the computer (IdeaCentre B520). The only solution that I have found work, is to remove both devices from the device manager and reconnect with the physical Bluetooth buttons on the computer and the devices. I also un- and reinstalled Skype, but the problem continues, which might be a software issue. However, today the computer completely failed to pair and connect with the devices. The pairing dialogue is displayed after pushing the Bluetooth button on the computer. I am prompted to press the corresponding buttons on the mouse and the keyboard and the dialogue completes (code number for keyboard is entered) with the message that the pairing was successful, but drivers may need to be updated. The new drivers are installed for the HDI devices as indicated by the bubble and the grey Bluetooth window light the devices as connected. The Bluetooth box will then go into a repeated flickering between connected and disconnected until both devices are deleted from the device manager terminal. Both devices continue to blink as if searching for... Read more

Answer:Blutooth disconnect when using Skype, now completely fails to reconnect

You use wrong bluetooth software. The only one that should work is 6.4.0.2100. You can download it from Sony website. I know it may sound strange but I have tested them all. Give it a shot and see what happens.

I am using a desktop PC running Windows Vista.I generally store very little information on my internal hard drive and therefore usually use one of several external hard drives. Currently, one of my hard drives is giving me an annoying issue. Whenever I plug it into the USB adaptor, the computer will recognize it and it works correctly. However, if I disconnect it, and then come back later and connect it again, the computer will only recognize the virtual CD and not the actual drive. Meaning, it does not show the drive letter under "My Computer" or disk management. It only shows the virtual CD.  I can fix this by completely rebooting my computer, but this is pretty frustrating. All of my other hard drives work and I can connect and disconnect them freely without this problem. This only occurs with one specific external drive.1> Plug in, works fine, recognizes drive and virtual CD.2> Unplug, come back and plug back in, only Virtual CD shows.3> No drive under "My computer" or Disk Management, only the virtual CD (which I don't use).4> Other external drives do not give me this issue. Also, this Ext. ED is a black WD portal type. It runs off USB power. My other hard drives are the same type and work fine.Any help would be appreciated. I will be unavailable to reply for approx. 45-50minutes after posting this, but will get back soon after.Thanks.

Answer:External Hard Drive Not Showing Up after Disconnect/Reconnect

IMHO its not the fault of the external HDD...it's the virtual drive software...What app is it that created it ?Check their Docs for troubleshooting issues.Meanwhile re-boot and get the external fully recognised. From Disk Management give the external HDD a Volume Label...Then rite clik it and assign it a drive letter at least 2 letters away from the virtual drive.Save changes exit and re-boot and you should be good to go...

Hi all, the Down and the Right arrows keys are stopped working appropriately. When I press the Down arrow key quickly 5 times, it not only jumps 5 lines, but jumps as if I pressed the Page Down button. The problem is similar in the case of the Right arrow: if I press it quickly 3-5 times, the cursor jumps to the end of the line, as if I pressed the End button. The space key has also a problem. If the cursor is inside a word, and I press the space quickly, it starts to separate the word. Example: ab[cursor]cdefghijkl => ab    cde f  ghijk l. I've tested different programs: Notepad++, MS Word, Android Studio, (even booted to Safe Mode) but the problem is the same in all programs. If I press the keys slowly, the problems described above do not appear. The OS is the latest Win10, latest drivers. The problem appeared cca. 2 weeks before, I don't think that I had changed any of the system settings. The other arrow keys are working properly.Model: Thinkpad x230, 2325-Y12. Thank you!Alex

Have you tried to boot a Linux Distro out of a USB-drive? Just to rule out any software/drivers problem.

If you still face the same issue in Linux you most probably have a keyboard or another hardware problem. Swapping a keyboard is quite easy for a X230 and replacement parts not expensive.

What happens if you attach an external usb keyboard?

Hi,I've bought a used Lenovo X230 & it came without the hard drive for security reasons.I've then bought a new corsair force GT 90gb SSD & hooked up an external dvd/cd rom & inserted the Windows 7 Ultimate x64 disc & started to install the Windows.I then after around 5 minutes get a message that Windows can't be installed :-/Now when I turn on the Thinkpad I keep getting the "BOOTMGR is missing Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart" If I press ENTER I can get in to BIOS,but it never gives me the option to boot from my Toshiba external drive even with it showing in BIOS.How can I get the Thinkpad to boot from the disc again ?I have the Toshiba drive as 1st boot option, but it does not give me a message like "Press any key to boot from dvd" like I would on my PC etc..................... Any help more than welcome.

Answer:Help with Thinkpad X230 booting problem :-/

As it won't let me install on the corsair SSD,I've just tried a brand new 250gb WD 2.5" HDD & for some reason it does not fit :-/ Why is this ? The WD is a little chunkier than the SSD but I would have thought all 2.5 SSD's & HDD's would fit in to this netbook.

Greetings,

What is the best way to provide logs to Human Resources when they request to know two weeks worth of when a specific employee logs in, disconnects, reconnects, and logs out of their VDI? Our environment is powered by PCoIP & VMware View. I know VMware View has these events but it truncates to 2000 events (and for our environment that covers less than a day's worth of activity).

Is there a log viewer out there or a way to pipe events to something like Splunk?

Yeah the logging isn't the greatest but Splunk does have native plugins to monitor VDI.

Thanks for the interest and help.
I have a dual boot system (Vista Enterprise and XP). I have built the computer myself and newly installed both OS. The computer works perfectly with XP. When I boot into Vista, everything works fine. Then when I shut down, I cannot boot the computer unless I disconnect the power supply and then reconnect the power supply. Then everything operates normally. If I boot into XP, then shut down, this does not happen...I can turn on the system and boot into either OS. All updates for both OS are current (SP1 for Vista and SP3 for XP). The system was a clean install. XP was installed first, then Vista. XP was installed directly to a SATA hard drive. Vista was installed to a separate RAID 1 SATA Hard Drive.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Answer:When shut down Vista, must disconnect the power supply and reconnect before booting

What do you mean when you say you cannot boot the computer? Does it boot up at all or fail during boot up?

This might be really wrong but I'm not sure how a dual-boot works exactly. However, you're using two hard-drives, is there a default hard-drive that you're computer boots up under? I know on my notebook, un-plugging the power supply and taking out the battery pack and putting it back in and re-connecting power supply power-cycles and restores default boot settings. I had issues booting up on my desktop too, I tried this and this helped.

I would be using one hard-drive for both operating systems and another hard-drive for the documents, photos, programs, videos etc

Ever since I got my hardware upgrade and installed it with Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit, I have been plagued by this randomly freezing issue or the USBs randomly disconnect then reconnect. This is completely driving me bonkers and I'm completely out of solutions right now. I've just reformatted the whole SSD only to be hit by the random freezes again right after I tried to install other softwares.

Is my BIOS somehow configured wrong? I've left everything at "default" setting and I don't even dare to OC. I really hope that my hardwares are not faulty. Can someone please help me out? I am very good at following instructions, but I haven't got a clue as to what I need to do right now. The motherboard came with a BIOS interface that I cannot make heads and tails of at all.

All the drivers installed are taken directly from the manufacture's website, should be the most recent version.
When the desktop freezes, I lose power and connectivity to all my USB connected devices.
I have to flip the mast power switch in the back of the case to force the computer to shut down. Holding on the power button does nothing.

I just bought a brand new lenovo T400 with the following configurationWindows XP Professional SP3 (Business downgrade)Intel wireless 5300 AGN and I had this problems..1. Random hanging / freezing the the whole system 2. Hibernation not working.. system would not boot up after hibernation 3. System will not wake up after Standby (by closing the lid)IT"S REALLY FRUSTATING TO HAVE THIS PROBLEMS FROM A BRAND NEW LAPTOP FRESH FROM THE BOX.I must say i am really disappointed in such standards from the thinkpad series. I have figured out and solved the second and third problems thru browsing the forum and by installing the latest version of power manager 1.6 and the driver 1.53. However, i am still unable to solve the first problem. The system would hang randomly (ranges between 20mins to 3 hours) Pressing ctrl alt del has no use. Only thing to solve the problem is to do a force shutdown by pressing the power button. I have tried various methods in the forums such as1. disabling the Active Protection System2. Doing registry edit on a folder called iastor I realised that the problem is due to the disconnection and reconnection of the wireless internet. On reconnection the system would hang. However, it does not hang on every reconnection. This is what puzzles me. I have installed the latest intel wireless driver and i still face this problem.. although less frequent..I would really appreciate if anyone can help me.. its such a bad experience for a first ... I've been having an issue over the past couple days which occurs at random, in which my keyboard and mouse connect and disconnect randomly. They're both plugged into the USB's on the back of the motherboard firmly and have a good connect, but they will lose power and come back on within a second. I can tell because of the DPI setting light on my mouse, and my keyboard is backlit. A couple hours ago, it started doing it to both, at the same time, rapidly- just lights blinking on and off at an inconsistent rate, with Windows blooping occasionally saying a device is connected.

I'm going to try some different ports and see if that fixes anything, but has anyone else had this happen? Motherboard is a Gigabyte Z68X-UD4-B3... I'd figure that if 2 USB ports are affected by whatever is causing the problem, it would do the same on all of them? Is it likely that my board is screwed? I had power outages a couple days ago that came on and off (as it does any friggin' time it rains in my neighborhood), so could that mess with it?

Answer:Problem with fingerprint reader on thinkpad x230

Hi, ajbrewer93

Are you using the Lenvovo software when you are getting this error? If so, this error normally appears when the finger is swiped across the reader and the duration was not long enough. Also, I would make sure the drivers for the reader are up to date (which can be found here), and also that the software is up to date (which can be found here.) When searching for the driver, you can use the dropdown menus to filter by operating system and device (i.e., Fingerprint Reader) to make searching faster.

Hope it helps,
Adam

I have a new since Christmas Yoga 720-12IKB and find that the wifi is disconnecting/reconnecting numerous times per minute. It causes significant distruption trying to use the computer, with frequent errors about not being connected to the internet. Generally causes the device to operate very slow, nearly unusable. I'm not having disruption on any other computers/tablets/phones connected. I've tried a fair amount of troubleshooting but have yet to find a solution. The one workaround that I've found is that when I connect to power, the problem goes away. Remove power, issue returns. Suggests a problem with the power management (or possibly network adapter driver) but I can't figure it out. The network adapter is Qualcomm QCA61x4a. Here's what I've attempted: 1) Disable the power management feature of the adapter (uncheck allow computer to turn off)2) Run Lenovo System Update to make sure all drivers are up-to-date3) Manually updated the driver via device manager (went from .312 to .438)4) Switch roaming agressiveness to low Other than making it a desktop (needing to leave it plugged in to avoid the issue) any suggestions/resolution to this problem? Anyone else seeing the same behavior? Frustrating problem to an otherwise fantastic, fun, and fast Yoga!!! Looking for a light at the end of the tunnel....

I started using my display port which was working correctly until the other day when it started blinking on and off. I wiggled the cable and it seemed to work but after a few minutes it stopped and no amount of wiggling helped. I thought it was the cable so I bought another one. This also didn't work. I bought a port expander and attached the DP cable through it (both ports) without success. Is this a mother board problem?
