X200t Trackpoint Scrolling in Windows 8/8.1/10

Question: X200t Trackpoint Scrolling in Windows 8/8.1/10

Hi, I am attempting to fix a problem with scrolling in Windows 10 (also applicable to Win 8/8.1). Everything works as it should within non-Windows programs, but "apps" and Windows OS screens do not allow scrolling. I am using the most recent (Windows 7) Lenovo driver. I have tried installing the Ultranav version (updated for Windows 8) but it will not allow it. Any ideas on how to get a working driver installed on this machine? Everything else seems to be working flawlessly.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi guys, I'm Alex, newly subscribed user to your Thinkpad forum, and here to ask for your help (if possible) ! Here is what I'm facing right now on my old (but still working like a charm) W510 :Quite happy to move away from Windows 8, I recently accepted to make the upgrade to the newest Microsoft OS : windows 10 64bits. It didn't take long to get used to it and I haven't had any issues with the programs I am using daily. But... I am having troubles with my trackpoint scrolling method. On both Chrome and Edge browsers installed on my computer, scrolling is buggy/laggy/not smooth at all. Web pages seem to "stick" a bit to much which makes jumps every time you try to scroll with the trackpoint. On the touchpad it is better but not so good either. It is really not a big issue but it can drive you a bit crazy after some time... Surprinsingly, scrolling is great on the OS. The issue is only happening on some programs. After looking around on the web, I am pretty sure that the issue is coming from the UltraNav driver. Since everything was working great on 8.1, I decided to reinstall the old driver (UltraNav 16.2.19.14). And as expected, it worked ! Scroll was back to what it was before, but not working on Microsoft Edge. I am using Chrome so I didn't pay much attention to that anyway. But since Windows 10 doesn't let you choose the updates that are installed , the issue came back when Windows Updates automatically installed the supposedly "newest a... Wanting to know if others have this problem? If I use the tablet for a short period of time (1hr) in "Tablet mode" the cursor returns and the trackpoint works fine. However if I use it for say 3-4hrs in "tablet mode" and go back to the regular laptop configuration the cursor is missing and the trackpoint will not respond!!! All keyboard keys function without problem (left and right mouse buttons are non-operational as well). Doing a system log-off and login back in will not solve the issue. I have to do a reboot for it to start working again. Trackpoint driver version 4.71.0.0 is installed. Running Windows7 Pro 64.

Hi All, I use my X200T with an external monitor running in 'extend' mode which is were I control all of my software and work. I then have MS One-Note running on the X200 screen and hand write all of my notes. All was working well with Vista. I upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate and have noticed that whatever the configuration I set, the cursor is shown on the external monitor when I go to write on the X200 and subsequently I am unable to write on the screen and take notes. All is fine when I have both screens reading the same or no external monitor, but when I have 'extend' mode running it wont allow me to write on the X200. Any advice would be very much appreciated. Best regards Chris

I just recently purchased an Lenovo X200 Tablet and whenever I scroll down the page in Internet Explorer, I get intermittent freezing or stuttering. The stutter/pause happens for about 3-10 seconds and then resumes to scroll. It appears to happen mostly on pages such as Amazon.com or Ebay.com and despite having the webpage fully downloaded, it still occurs scrolling up and down the same page. I tried updating my wireless network drivers thinking it could be poor wireless internet reception but it still occurs; there doesn't appear to be anything wrong with my router or internet broadband as I tested it on another computer.  I don't know if it has any relationship to the "buzzing" or "whining" noise, Centrino whine that people have spoken of in the forums, that I also hear with my computer when it's extremely quiet. If anyone has experience or can advise what's going on, I'd appreciate it.

Answer:Intermittent Freezing and Stutter while scrolling webpage in Internet Explorer on X200T

I would try using a different browser first like firefox to make sure it isn't an issue with IE and not something else. I personally do not use IE as the default browser and have never experienced such issues in firefox with my X200 tablet. let us know the results.

If you need to reinstall the Trackpoint driver for your unit, here is the link below: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-4KMUYL Download and save this file to the desktop and the open the folder and run the setup.exe file You might also need the Trackpoint Accessibility Driver, which can be found here: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-4Z9QVD See if installing these two drivers will help you. If the drivers are installed correctly and you are still having problems with the trackpoint scrolling, it could possibly be a mechancial issue and the part would need replacement. Let me know if this helps you any. Mark

Hi!First: this is no problem-request but a solution for everybody with the same problem. I had the problem, that TrackPoint scrolling did not work in some programs. There are some posts available about correcting this issue, but there seems to be a change in the driver, so there needs to be done some changes. I mainly will refer to this post from Elad Karako, because it has a list of programs, where scrolling does not work. This post, the same as others, recommends to edit the file TP4table.dat in the C:\Program Files\Synaptics\SynTP directory. I just updated my T540p with a 3-button touchpad and had the problem, that in some applications the TrackPoint scrolling does not work (Notepad++, Total Commander, ...)Unfortunately the rules did not work. But in newer drivers there is a further option available. The flags has been updated with the option16 Rule indicate the apply this to IBM Stick Scrolling when ScrollMethood is Synaptics. This means, that if the rule should apply to the scrolling done with TrackPoint, the flag needs to be increased by 16. I also had the problem, that the listed option WheelStd did not work in my case. After playing around I found out that Standard worked. So I updated the rules to the following and added them to the upper part of the file TP4table.dat: ; Process Explorer
*,*,*,*,*,PROCEXPL,Standard,0,25
; Notepad++ and Notepad2
*,*,*,*,*,Scintilla,Standard,0,25
*,*,*,*,*,Notepad2U,Standard,0,25
*,*,*,*,*,Notepad++,Standard,... Read more

Answer:TrackPoint scrolling not working

Excellent detective work both here and with one line scrolling; the TP4table.dat compatibility listing doesn't seem to have been updated for a long time.

I have a T61 that is having a problem with the trackpoint scrolling feature occasionally.  What happens is when I push the middle button, and try to scroll, the window scrolls like its supposed to, but the pointer also moves.  Then when the pointer reaches the edge of the area I'm scrolling, the scrolling stops, and I have to move the pointer back in before I can scroll again.  I have the scrollign settings configured for standard (ie, not smooth or auto-detect).  I have also set the touchpad to be for scrolling and tap zones only (I don't know whether this has anything to do with the problem).  The latest driver (7.5.17.27) is installed.  Any ideas about what else I can try? Thanks,Justin

Answer:Trackpoint scrolling problem

I remember seeing this option in the mouse settings, advanced, where it had check box to use one or the other or both in re to touchpad or the red tip mouse.. I had no issue with it, I tried to recreate your issue but am not willing to screw this one up, sorry. Try that area and also see if the mouse driver is selecting the correct one, and if there is a post bios setting for the mouse functions. Now days with usb mouse, PS2, trackpoint, touchpad, infrared, wireless, we need things simple like a carnival ring toss on to coke bottles.

One of the more persistent (of several) problems plaguing my P50 (20EN) is the spastic, herky-jerky scrolling when using the TrackPoint with middle button. This is far and away the worst trackpoint I have ever used, and I've used a lot of trackpoints over the last 20 years. There are only two TrackPoint settings on this machine, and neither is relevant to this issue:? The 'ThinkPad' tab in the Windows 10 'Mouse Properties' panel has a checkbox to enable and disable TrackPoint globally and radio buttons to select the middle button function.? The Synaptics Control Panel has a slider for controlling the TrackPoint scrolling speed. TrackPoint has always stood out on my list of reasons for buying ThinkPads in the first place, so this is issue particularly poignant for me, and, frankly, I'm close to my wit's end on this one. Please, someone tell me there exists a solution.

I have a t430 2342CTO with the latest ultranav drivers installed. I have seen screenshots of older versions of the driver where you can select smooth scrolling for the trackpoint. I was wondering if there is any way to enable this behavior in the current driver. Also, is there any way I can change the amount of lines scrolled by the trackpoint? Changing the windows setting only seems to affect the touchpad, not the trackpoint. Perhaps there is a registry setting or something?

Hi ben_jminw,

You should be able to change those settings under control panel > mousepad > unltranav.

I am using MS Office 2007 on my Lenovo X60 with 2GB RAM and Win XP Proffesional.  I cannot scroll pages in MS Word 2007 using the standard scrolling type setting in the mouse properties dialog box in the control panel.  When I change the scrolling type setting to auto-select I am able to scroll but the scrolling is so fast that I cannot control it. Moreover, the scrolling does not work at all in either standard or auto-select mode in some of the MS Office dialog boxes.  I have upgraded to the latest trackpoint driver, but that does not seem to improve the situation.  Does anyone have a solution to this problem?

Answer:Trackpoint scrolling speed on X60

I think that when you set the scrolling type in mouse properties to auto, you simply use the standard mouse-wheel click auto-scrolling feature of Office. Check if you can find any Office setting that allows you to adjust the auto-scrolling speed.

When scrolling with the trackpoint, I find that the pages don't roll as smooth as the older Thinkpads did. My T410 scrolls much more smoothly than my X250, and I'm thinking that it is a driver issue. I have the latest Synaptics driver, which would be 18.1.27.14. I've tried rolling back the drivers, and it still doesn't improve the scrolling issue. Did anyone else experience this problem? Has anyone fixed it? Also, as an aside, I've found that I could not play FPS games with trackpoint. The left and right buttons don't click immediately after typing. I always get killed right after sprinting because I'm standing there, unable to shoot. Other than that, the trackpoint is suprisingly easy to use for games.

Hello, Is there a way to have both - scrolling with trackpoint while holding the middle mouse button - and - being able do a middle click with the middle mouse button? I can accomplish this easily under Linux like it is described here. But under Windows it seems to be impossible. I can only have either middle clicking or trackpoint scrolling. I need both.  If anyone knows a solution to this please let me know. Walter (I have a X200s and Windows 7 x64 installed)

Yeah, this is easy in Linux can't we get some pressure to actually get this implemented properly in windows. Useability is the main reason i got a thinkpad it would be nice to know we could actually influence it in some way. (Bumping an old topic here)

Hello everyone, I searched a bit both these forums and others but haven't found the solution to this problem I'm experiencing. I recently bought a used T430 and I've been using it for the last couple of days, trying to get used to trackpoint and all. I performed a clean windows install and installed a Win 10 education my university provides. I followed the advice on Lenovo webpage about letting Windows update do its thing first and then run the Lenovo System Update utility to update drivers as necessary. Everything's working nicely other than some issues with the trackpoint buttons (the 3 buttons just below the space bar are called the trackpoint buttons I guess?)  Anyway, the issue is that before I did a fresh install, the middle button when pushed entered the scroll mode which then let me scroll using the trackpoint. Now it still enters the scroll mode but also does a right-click when I let go. This leads to an issue where a right-click is performed at every scroll step(if that makes sense) which leads to wonky scrolling. One other issue is that the right button does nothing at all. I expected the middle button to only have scroll functionality and the right button to simply right-click.  Things I've tried so far: - Manually removed the pointer device and ran Lenovo system update again to update the UltraNav drive, and also disabled auto-driver installation of windows update. The driver version installed by System Update is 19.0.17.115.&nb... Read more

Hello, everyone! I'm having an issue with zooming inside autocad using the center mouse button on the laptop and the trackpoint. Whenever I try to zoom using the trackpoint, my drawing disappears and the entire autocad window seems to move up or down. Using the mousewheel on a USB mouse works just fine. Research about this issue reveals that it has been common for thinkpads since at least the T60, but all such questions go unanswered. Please tell me if there is a way to use the trackpoint to zoom and pan. I'd really like to enjoy the benefit of not having to take my hands off the keyboard to use the mouse.

Hi all, I pretty much always use my Trackpoint to scroll (with the middle button). But several sites I visit see horizontal scrolls as triggers to change page. So, I'll be reading a page, scrolling down via the Trackpoint -- and at some point I'll have deviated enough from vertical to trigger the horizontal behavior -- and I'll then be shuttled off to a page I don't mean to be on. Is there any way to configure the Trackpoint scroll to ONLY scroll vertically? If not, is there perhaps a way to get Google Chrome to stop listening to the horizontal scroll? Thanks, it's actually quite a PITA for some sites I visit.

I'm using the ultranav middle button to scroll (I live for this feature which is why I've been buying thinkpads since time immemorial) However, on the t460, scolling with the middle button/nubbin is painfully slow in Word 2007, and Adobe Acrobat/Reader is a nightmare. In Word its just slow and you have to use a lot of pressure on the nubbin (there appears to be no setting to change this). In Acrobat, it's agonizingly slow (in both Reader and Pro) and will "stick" on if you try to go to fast and just scrolling for multiple seconds after you release the button.  Stragely, the trackpad scrolling works fine in Word, though it is still bad in Acrobat.  In addition, the middle button scrolling will frequently slip and stop scrolling, sending the pointer to the bottom of the page.  Nubbin/middle button scrolling works (oddly) extremely well in Microsoft Edge... Please help! Middle button scrollig with the nubbin is the best feature on these machines.  Using: T460 Windows 10 64-bit with the latest drivers.

I installed Windows 7 64 bit on my Lenovo ThinkPad R61 model 8918, which has Alps TrackPad and TrackPoint. However it is well known problem that when the computer is awaken from suspend or hibernation it loose ability to scroll (in my case TrackPoint stop scrolling with middle button pressed). I tested over 7 different ALPS driver versions found on the Internet, but any of the does not have scrolling type 1 for TrackPoint (standard smooth scrolling with scrollbar cursor). On couple forums people wrote that ALPS drivers from late 2010 have the problems with loosing scrolling fixed. However Lenovo Support did not release any new version of the driver for Windows 7 for model 8918 (with Alps stuff). Is it possible that someone at Lenovo would take mercy on us, users of 8918 with Windows 7, and release newest drivers from ALPS with all the stuff related to ThinkPads trackpoints???

My question concerns middle-button-scrolling for the Trackpoint on the Yoga 260, which seems to use an Elantech device and driver. Whenever I scroll using my SmartPad: either with the "Edge Scroll" or the "Two-Finger Scroll" or when I scroll using the TrackPoint+its middle button, my web browser zooms in/out. I enabled the "tap zones" feature in the Synaptics touchpad settings and configured the zones to right click and middle click. I notice that sometimes the zones stop working while tapping and navigating are still ok. It turns out that scrolling with the middle button and the trackpoint somehow prevents the tap zones from working.A quick fix is to move the cursor using the trackpoint, move it again using the trackpad, then the zones will function normally. However the fix isn't permanent.I hope that Lenovo / Synaptics will address this small issue in the next touchpad driver update.

Hi all, I really like using the Trackpoint to scroll. But an increaing number of Web sites react to horizontal scrolling by jumping to other pages. So, for example, if I'm reading down a page -- and if I need to use the Trackpoint to scroll down as I'm reading -- if I'm not perfectly vertical when I pull down on the Trackpoint, the Web site detects it as a horizontal scoll, and I get whisked off to another page. I can't be the only person having this problem? Is there some way to disable the Trackpoint from scrolling horizontally without disabling it from scrolling vertically?

Answer:Trackpoint scrolling -- can I disable horizontal? (It keeps flipping pages when I don't mean to...)

I recently bought thinkpad and I also have same problem too. Is there any solution, maybe from third party tools?

Issue 1: When I vertical scroll in a web page (Chrome & MSIE) by dragging TrackPoint (stick) while holding down left UltraNav button, the cursor moves but the web page fails to scroll, or demonstrates scroll latency of about .5 to 1 second behind the stick movement.  Sometimes, I have to try a couple times to get the scrolling to occur. Issue 2: Very often I must double click on UI buttons and web page links with the UltraNav button, when I should, traditionally, only have to click once. Received the T510 about 7 days ago.  i5, Win7 64bit, integrated graphics.  I've disabled all eye candy and set theme to classic.  Updated to latest available UltraNav and display driver.  I've tried just about every adjustment in the mouse and UltraNav settings, going as far as disabling the touchpad and touchpad filters. Synaptics driver info:Driver provider: SynapticsDriver date: 3/24/2011Driver version: 15.2.19.0Download from: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-66898File: 6hgx37ww  This is truly annoying and I'm about to return this laptop.  I hate to resort to that.  Any help is greatly appreciated.  I've used a T43 and T61 for the last 7 years at work and never had this issue.  I love T-model Thinkpads, but this is a poor experience.

1. Does vertical scroll work elsewhere? Like in Adobe Reader or a long Wordpad document?2. Same here; do clicks work elsewhere?I've only seen the delay when my CPU is being maxed out and SynTPEnh.exe doesn't intercept the middle-drag in time.

Last night (4/6/2017) an automatic Windows update just now decided to install the most recent Synaptics driver (titled Synaptics - Mouse - 1/11/2017 12:00:00 AM - 19.3.4.66), which apparently is nearly 3 months old at this point.  One thing this update seems to have fixed is an issue I?ve been having with my ThinkPads for upwards of 7 years ? randomly it resets my mouse wheel 'number of lines scrolled per notch' option back to 1 (I prefer 3) pretty much daily, which is a HUGE annoyance, so I?m very grateful for this update and I?d like to keep it. However, it also completely disabled middle click scrolling with my TrackPoint (yes, I have ?Use for scrolling? checked under the TrackPoint settings).  The middle button does nothing now, unless I check ?Use as middle click?.  Rolling back the Synaptics driver to the previous one fixes this issue. Confoundingly, the TrackPoint scrolling with my ThinkPad Bluetooth keyboard still works fine. Has anyone else experienced this problem?  Any ideas how to re-enable TrackPoint scrolling on this newest driver? System details:ThinkPad P50 ? Pardon me if this is too much of a software question, but yeah, I'm trying out Firefox 6, and while the browser seems less crashy, I can no longer side scroll by holding the middle mouse button and using the Trackpoint. It's a big deal for me. Scrolling with the Trackpoint is basically my favorite feature; to me, it feels even more convenient than a touch screen. Any one else notice this issue, or know how to solve it?

It works for me (Firefox 6.0.2). Try updating your UltraNav driver from the Lenovo support page. The latest is fairly new, dated August 23.

At certain relatively slow speeds the scrolling jumps huge leaps regularly (probably after evey page or so). It's very bad with Chrome and Windows explorer, not so bad but noticeable in Thunderbird. I have set the scrolling to 1 line. My Synaptics drivers are the newest 10/04/2015. Also the treshold to start scrolling with middle button and trackpoint is very high - can't be that hard to make it smooth, so you could scroll very slowly? Please fix this soon... it's impossible to live with.

On my L420, i had it set so i can move the mouse with my thumb and scroll with my index finger with the center trackpoint button.

However, the Ultranav options are different for the W541, so, (as far as i can tell) i can't find the option to replicate this.

See screenshots of my configuration.

Basically, i want my center trackpoint button to be always in "scroll" mode, without the need to press the middle button and scroll like on the L420.

For a while now, I have wondered why the virtual buttons shown in the utility http://imgur.com/Lljj1Z7 don?t function as advertised. According to the utility, I should get a left click if I depress the left are of the touchpad, a middle click if I push on the bumps, and a right click if I depress the right half of the touchpad. In my experience, I get a left click regardless of where I depress the touchpad. The only exception is when I depress the bumps in the top middle of the touchpad?when I do that, the mouse enters some weird scrolly mode where I scan scroll stuff with the trackpoint. It definitely does not emit a middle click. But, more importantly, I cannot figure out how to get trackpoint mode to emit a right click. How do I get trackpoint classic mode to work? Is there a way to downgrade the drive or use a non-lenovo branded driver to get it to behave properly? Right now, I?m relying on an external mouse just to middle click and right click. I?m using Windows 10 b10240 and, as in the post?s title, my trackpoint driver is the latest listed on Lenovo?s support site (which I think WU actually installed for me)?19.0.12.61. Why don?t the virtual buttons work and are there any other workarounds that don?t involve using a mode other than Trackpoint Classic?

Answer:T540p unable to right-click with virtual buttons in trackpoint or trackpoint classic mode 19.0.12.61

Seems to have partially fixed iteslf since Windows Update (WU) installed 19.0.16. Now the right half of my touchpad performs a right click when in TrackPad Classic mode. However, the supposed ?middle click? zone still does a weird scrolly mode instead of sending a middle click. Guess I still have to use an external mouse to accomplish a middle click when using Classic TrackPoint mode, but at least the situtaion is better than when I couldn?t right click with this mode.

Hi, I got an S230u Twist last autumn and have been really happy with it. At the time, I ordered a set of replacement rubber TrackPoint caps. When I replaced the original cap the other day, I realised that the replacement ones are about 0.5mm shorter than the original one, with the result that the H and G keys get caught on the edge of the cap; you have to hit them quite hard to get them to work. I compared all the new caps from the packet against the original one, and sure enough; they're all a little too short. They fit, but it's annoying to have to go back and make sure all my ""G"s and "H"s typed correctly.  Has anyone else had the same problem? Lenovo, could this just have been a bad batch, and if so can I return the unused ones for a replacement set that is the correct height?

Answer:S230u - replacement trackpoint TrackPoint caps are too short

If you bought them from Lenovo I'd just try and return them. If not dispute on eBay/PayPal/Credit Card. But never use poor quality TrackPoint Caps. Remember if a computer is running efficiently so is the person behind it generally.

Hi, the preinstalled (fresh drivers included) Windows 7 (32-bit) works well on my x200 Tablet (original configuration but Samsung SSD). But every now and then (basically every 3rd to 4th time) it hangs during shutdown or hibernation. It then starts the shutdown/hibernation process, indicated by the HDD light. After a while only the pure desktop background figure remains, but no explorer, no start menu etc.. Mouse works, but without any context menu. Since I cannot do anything and cannot start the task manager the only option is to power the notebook off. Before starting Windows then indicates that the notebook war not shut down properly. Any ideas what could go wrong here? Thanks for suggestions, kieloben

I seem to be in a bit of a mess here. Brief history. The machine was recently acquired from the original owner. He bought it with Vista and later upgraded (ie not installed from scratch) to Windows 7 64bit. Shortly after I received it some oddities were revealed and I used Chkdsk to fix some bad sectors. There are no recovery disks. I took various images and installed onto a new HD. The new HD died completely after a week and the warranty replacement is on its way. There were still some odd effects while the new HD was working, so I tried to repair using a standard Windows 7 disk. This was not accepted, and an attempt to install a clean W7 using the Microsoft code in the Lenovo installation would not accept the code. I then tried to install Lenovo Repair and Recovery, but this wouldn't install on an upgraded Win7 system. I will try ringing Lenovo tomorrow to see if they have any suggestions.  Meanwhile, I tried to do a complete fresh install of Win7 64bit from a fresh download from Digital River, skipping the activation. This went well and most of the features are working well, but both the audio and the Bluetooth installations using the files from Lenovo support bring up a Microsoft message that these do not have a digitally signed driver so the installation will be aborted.I have posted elsewhere that the Ericsson WWAN stopped working after a Microsoft update, and the card is now not visible, and drivers cannot be installed because the card is not se... I'll preface this by saying I have an x200 tablet with Windows 7 x64 installed, and I removed and reinstalled all Lenovo related drivers via Lenovo System Update. I've been experiencing the following problems: I have the display brightness set to 20% when on battery and 100% when plugged in. When I restart the computer when plugged in, everything works as it is supposed to, however when I restart the computer when on battery, the display brightness settings get swapped; ie. the setting when on battery becomes 100% and when plugged in becomes 20%. This is very annoying as I have to change these settings back everytime I restart on battery. Also, recently, the tablet buttons don't work when in tablet mode, the screen does not auto-orient itself to the specified default orientation when switched to tablet mode, and ActiveRotate does not work. So the only way to change the orientation is to press the button on the screen to get it in the orientation desired BEFORE entering tablet mode. This is extremely aggrevating. If anyone has any ideas, it would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

I have a Thinkpad x200 Tablet (8 Gigs of RAM and 1 Terabyte Hard Drive with U9300 Intel Core Duo 2 processor}, and I love its versatility and performance.  I want to keep using it.  I'm running Windows 10 on it, and everything works except the Intel F200 3d Camera.  The 3d Camera is recognized and does work, but not with Windows 10 Camera Program or Windows Hello Facial Login feature.  I got around that by installing Key Lemon which does allow the F200 to log me in from my face, but it would be nice if I could use this camera directly with Windows Hello.  Also, I've inserted a USB 3.0 Card in the express card slot on the machine, and that's how the F200 generally works with my computer.  Can anyone tell me how to get my F200 cam working with Windows Hello and Windows 10 Camera program with my Thinkpad x200 Tablet computer?  More specifically, is there a driver out there somewhere that I could install to get the Cam working on my computer in every Windows 10 function?  It appears that Lenovo has thrown the x200 Tablet under the bus and doesn't plan on making programs for use with Win 10, but for me, this is a great computer!  Can someone give me some advice (other than getting another computer)?

Hi all, Since installing Windows 10 I am unable to change the sensitivity of the Trackpoint. I have to press insanely hard to get the cursor to move at a reasonable speed and it makes the machine rather useless for me. In Windows and 8.1 I had the options to change the sensitivity so the cursor would move on a light touch of the Trackpoint. Why has this function been removed? And is it coming back? X230 is officially supported for Windows 10 so you would say you at least get the options of changing the sensitivity. The latest drivers are installed using Lenovo System Update. At this point I'm seriously considering downgrading to 8.1 just to make the Trackpoint usable again. Thanks!

Hi. I have a Dell Inspiron 14. 2Gb Memory Core2Duo.

I can;t scroll Sideways but I can going up and down.

Thanks in advance.

Answer:Dell Touchpad not scrolling Sideways. But scrolling Up & Down

On both my Acer aspire one netbook (synaptics) and my Lenovo notebook (alps) I need to tab twice on the lower edge of the touchpad (to gain its attention?!?) and then it will scroll. Beyond that I believe you need to take a walk on the Dell support web site. There are number of 14xx models so you need to follow the steps there to find the freshest driver for your particular model. On both of mine the newest drivers have given scrolling as well as "pinching" to re-size pages, photos etc.

I have an X220 Tablet which I upgraded to Windows 8 x64.  Most functions are working, but when in tablet mode, the back of the LCD panel is rubbing against the TrackPoint causing unintentional cursor movement.  This issue and similar issues have been reported in the threads below.  I have tried all of the suggested fixes, but have not been able to resolve the issue. http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/X-Series-Tablet-ThinkPad-Laptops/TrackPoint-is-pressed-with-backside-of-...http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/X-Series-Tablet-ThinkPad-Laptops/wandering-trackpoing-in-tablet-mode/m-p...http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-Edge-S-series/Thinkpad-Twist-Disable-trackpoint/m-p/946959/http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/X-Series-Tablet-ThinkPad-Laptops/how-disable-the-trackpoint-in-tablet-mo...http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/X-Series-Tablet-ThinkPad-Laptops/x230-mouse-cursor-move-on-its-own-in-ta... I am running ThinkPad UltraNav Driver 16.2.19.2 and ThinkVantage Active Protection System 1.77.0.9.  I have installed the ThinkPad Tablet Button Driver 2 for Windows 8 (x64) 1.06 and ThinkPad Tablet Shortcut Menu 6.33.  The TSMResident process and TSMService service are running.  I have also tried the suggested mechanical fix of replacing the trackpoint with the lower profile older style eraserhead, but this did not help.  The rubber feet and tabs that make contact with the LCD panel are fully intact.  I also attempted to install the Windows 7 Multitouch Driver... Answer:X220 TrackPoint Wandering in Tablet Mode (Windows 8)

Hi, diglett

There is another driver you could try using and see if it helps. Here you will find the latest version of the Synaptics driver. Synaptics is the company that also makes the UltraNav driver. The driver is the base Synaptics driver, but it should have most, if not all, of the functionality of the UltraNav driver. You can find the driver here.

Best of luck, and let me know how it goes
Adam

Hello All - I just noticed that my multi-touch (not enhanced multi-touch) screen no longer responds to finger touch; just pen. It used to respond to both before i upgraded to Windows 7.I tried the Lenovo diagnostic check for the touch screen, and during the test, it only responded to the pen. What should I do? Is there a certain driver i'm missing or need to uninstall and then re-install?Thanks in advance.

Answer:Post Windows 7 Upgrade - Touch Panel Not Responding to Finger Touch (x200t)

Ok...I think i really screwed something up. As per a Lenovo support tech's advice, i installed the Windows 7 "Enhanced" Multi-touch Driver, even though i do not have the enhanced multi-touch screen, and this is what it says on Lenovo's site about this new driver: "*1: ThinkPad X200 Tablet models with the Multitouch are NOT supported." "*1: ThinkPad X200 Tablet models with the ENHANCED Multitouch ARE supported." So, i go ahead and install it. I notice that finger touch now works, but the pen setting are now all screwed up! The eraser no longer responds when i turn the pen around to erase. It actually INKS with the eraser as well! OneNote no longer automatically starts inking (or erasing) when i bring the pen (or eraser) into range. I have to manually click on the pen icon (or the eraser icon) on the tool bar to use these functionalities! *groan* In the Tablet PC Input Panel: no eraser functionality (it inks instead!!) and even the button on the pen (which previously had the right-click ability) only inks when pressed down! I think i made my situation worse...Please Help! Adam

Trackpoint on Yoga 12 is working at Windows 10 login screen, but immediately upon logging in to Win 10, the mouse pointer disappears (when using only built-in trackpoint/touchpad). The 'additional mouse settings' reveal the Thinkpad tab and the settings for trackpoint/trackpad, but they are greyed out and not active. Adding a USB mouse brings back the mouse pointer and then the pointer responds to the external device normally. Remove the USB device, and the mouse pointer is unresponsive to trackpoint input. I downloaded and installed most recent synaptics trackpoint driver from Lenovo. Now running driver v. 19.3.4.90. How can I re-enable the trackpoint?Windows is up to date.

Answer:Solved: Yoga 12 trackpoint & touchpad become disabled on windows 10 login

I solved this issue by re-installing the latest Lenovo driver, but AFTER I uninstalled the existing driver. I had previously installed the same latest driver without uninstalling the existing driver, and that did not resolve the problem. Apparently installing the new driver only works if the prior driver is first uninstalled.

Hi.I'm using:- Thinkpad L420 (BIOS 1.20)- Windows 8 x64- Lenovo Password Manager 4.10 b20.0- Firefox 17.0.1When I get into (on this case) a Joomla administrator user logon (xxxx.com/administrator) and Password Manager pops up with several options to select which user and password. The trackpoint freezes and I can not move it anymore. To solve this I need to do an Alt+F4 to close password Manager and get back trackpoint control.  The error is intermitent, it had happened me twice on that page, but I don't know the exact stepts to reproduce it.RegardsMartin

Answer:Windows 8 - Firefox - Lenovo Password Manager - Trackpoint freezes

Hi, Martin

Have you tried to reproduce this error in other browsers/other versions of Firefox? Also, has this error ever occurred under any other circumstances? Finally, does the mouse or the Trackpad freeze? If you can, try reproducing this error with an external mouse connected and see if you can move the mouse with that.

Thanks in advance,
Adam

Ppl,I own a T420i (with Win 7 & Office 2010 pre-loaded) which was purchased a couple of months back. Everything was working perfectly till the Touchpad and the trackpoint stopped responding. I suspected this to be caused by a recent windows update. This analogy was partly correct due to the following:On restoring the system to a point prior to the windows update, the Touchpad and trackpoint started functioning correctly. Thereafter, I installed the windows update again and still the Touchpad and trackpoint worked perfectly. Last night, I put the laptop on sleep mode and to my surprise, since today morning, the Touchpad and trackpoint have stopped working again! Even after repeated restarts of the system, the devices aren't operational. The interesting fact here is that an external mouse connected via the USB port was working prior to the windows update and still continues to work.Would be grateful if you could suggest a way out.Thanks.

So I have the updated Window 10 Home and Lenovo Settings Ver. 3.169.0.0. It doesn't allow me to adjust Trackpoint or Touchpad speed when I go to the tab "Input". Both speeds are kept lowest and I cannot scroll the bars at all. What I can do is go to Synaptics Control Panel to adjust the speeds. However every time I open the laptop again after Sleep or Reboot, the speeds go back to lowest again. Please help me solve this issue. Thanks!

My ThinkPad Twist (s230) works amazing with Windows 10 except for one nagging issue: the TrackPoint and it's buttons (the three buttons between the trackpad and the space bar) to do work after resuming from sleep.  The only cure is to restart the computer, which is a hassle if I had a lot of programs/apps running..  I've uninstalled and reinstalled the Lenovo drivers and the BIOS and all other devices are up to date.  My install of Win 10 was a clean install, not an upgrade. Any suggestions?

No idea what happened. I was using the laptop without issue and suddenly the trackpad and trackpoint (and left/right click buttons) all stopped working. Went and grabbed a wired mouse, that works fine, as does the keyboard. Any ideas? I have been through the control panel settings and absolutely nothing has changed. Tried turning it off and on again, and truning the settings for each option off and on and reset to default, and nothing. Please help! This sucker is way to new for this...

When I operate the scroll bar, instead of a smooth scroll down or up the page, the scrolling occurs in jerks, making the page appear to "ripple". I am using windows XP. In addition, when I watch DVDs the crarity is not so good. It has only just started happening. Any ideas?

Answer:Strange scrolling or wobbling scrolling

Does this happen to the entire screen or portions of the screen (like a horzontal line), or just with the scroll bars?

The trackpoint middle scrolling button doesn't work for some of the newer applications such as ITunes, the newest versions of Picasa, Windows Live Mail, Safari, and Windows Live Writer.Below is a fix applicable to all Windows OS's. The location of the edited file may vary so look in the Device Manager under trackpoint driver details to find driver locations. The file must be edited as an administrator in Vista and Windows 7. To do this, at the programs box type in notepad and on the notpad program in the menu right click and select, "Run as Administrator."In Win7 x64 it is located at: (edit with Notepad run as Administrator).c:\Program Files\Lenovo\Trackpoint\tp4table.dat; Google Picasa*,*,picasa3.exe,*,*,*,WheelStd,0,9; Windows Live Mail*,*,wlmail.exe,*,*,*,WheelStd,0,9; Windows Live Writer*,*,WindowsLiveWriter.exe,*,*,*,WheelStd,0,9; Apple ITunes*,*,itunes.exe,*,*,*,WheelStd,0,9; Apple Safari*,*,safari.exe,*,*,*,WheelStd,0,9Especially for "X" series owners that do not have the touchpad this is helpful. Thanks for the tip by Matthew Kohut of Lenovo for mentioning that this technique had previously been done for other programs such as OpenOffice.Message Edited by dfumento on 05-13-2009 12:12 PMMessage Edited by dfumento on 05-13-2009 12:13 PMMessage Edited by dfumento on 05-13-2009 12:14 PM

Question: X200T Fan Error

Hello users and profi.I bought a laptop last year X200T 7448-CTO (Multitouch and other goodies). It took six months. Now I have had this problem.OS - Windows 7 (32 bit). All updates (win and lenovo) have been installed. When I work in the "maximum preformance", the fan is spinning, the CPU has a temperature of 45-50C with no load. This notebook is included in the electric circuit. Then I go somewhere with him, disabling him from the electric circuit, and enable the mode of "maximum battery life." It takes some time, the CPU temperature drops below 45C with no load. Then the fan is turned off, which is quite logical. But then, when the processor heated up to 59-60C - the fan is not included. Switching power saving mode does nothing. Then I did not wait for overheating, reboot the laptop. At boot BIOS displays a message "Fan Error" and turns off the laptop. After turning on - the fan is working again. It's like everything is fine. Until the scenario will not be repeated with change of mode of the notebook. Maybe you will have some thoughts.Sorry for my English.Best regards.

Question: X200T upgrade

Hi all, Thought I would post up my experience of upgrading an X200T (model 7448CTO), maybe saving time for others. I upgraded from Vista (original HDD) to W7 (new SSD - intel 510), whacked in 2x4GB of Crucial RAM.  It was apparently stable for about a week, then after a windows update, something broke and it started BSOD'ing frequently. After a fair bit of debugging, I found I could very reliably provoke the laptop into a BSOD by running the Intel SSD toolbox's fully diagnostic scan. As it turned out, there were at least two, most likely three contributing factors: 1) Reliable SATA connectionI initially pulled out the original HDD, and placed the new 2.5" SSD into the carrier and slotted it back in.  I had to force it a bit, but it made a connection, and W7 ran ok initially. During debugging, I opened up the case fully - lifting up the keyboard rather than just using the HDD/SDD side opening.  There was a metallic mesh thingie sitting just above the SATA connector that was deformed.  The rubber rails must have caught the mesh and warped it.  The SATA connection was made, but I'm speculating it wasn't a reliable one.  Once the BSODs begin happening, I noticed it was more frequent when I was on the move. So, that got fixed - but there were still other physical issues.  Again I'm speculating that it's a contributing factor - the carrier wasn't quite aligned with the SSD - on the SATA connector end it was stick... Hi everyone I just got a X200T and this is the first tablet PC I've had (previously used T400). I have two problems which I cannot figure out: Fingerprint reader: I simply cannot get my fingerprint reader to work. I have updated Client Security Solutions and the Fingerprint reader to the latest version via the System Update (actually my CSSolution is 8.20 although I heard 8.21 is out yet the update software does not find it). Now that I updated the software the PC gives me an error message about a DLL Gina application when I start (and something similar when I shut-down). I have to tell it to "use the original file instead "to get the computer to start. I have succesfully saved all my fingerprints via the Fingerprint software yet I cannot click 'manage' on the CCSolution software to enable for which applications I want to use it. The PC does not prompt me for the fingerprint either!! I also went to the "Advanced" menue on CCSolution and enabled the "ask for fingerprint when log-on" to no avail. Any ideas?RAM / performance: Secondly I was wondering whether any of you think it's worthwhile to upgrade to 4GB of RAM. The computer is reasonably fast now but I just know it will slow down shortly due to the programs / applications I use. PC specs:Inter Core Duo CPU L9400 @ 1.86 GHz3GB RamWindows XP Tablet PC Edition 05 (SP3) ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED! Thomas

Answer:X200T - newbie (please help!)

hi, that dll gina has to do with your security login.  the first thing is go into the bios into security and make sure the fingerprint reader is enabled.  does your biometric device show up in devices?  you're probably getting that error because you're trying to use client security without first having the fingerprint security enabled. as far as ram goes i'm not sure that your chipset will read more than 3 gb with a 32 bit os.  it might though. search this forum, i remember seeing something about that but i can't find it now.
