Helix 2 Integrated Mobile Broadband EM7345 Unlocked?

Question: Helix 2 Integrated Mobile Broadband EM7345 Unlocked?

Hi guys, I've been debating on the purchase on a Helix 2 the deal breaker is if the broardband version (USA) that it has, is EM7345 unlocked? I've called Lenovo Support and there not sure and avoid answering the question. The only thing that do say is that they offer ATT or Verizon service. Anyone know if the EM7345 is unlocked? Thanks!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello, I'm thinking to buy ThinkPad Sierra Wireless EM7345 4G LTE Mobile Broadband FRU: 04X6014 for my ThinkPad X250. I?ve few questions, Pease suggest ...1. Is it really any good and practically beneficial?2. Can I use it on Fedora 27, How?s Linux support?3. X250 has two PCI Express M.2 card slot and one is already occupied by WLAN Card and other slot is available, Can I use empty slot for FRU-04X6014?4. Can I use both WLAN and WWAN simultaneously?5. What is the impact on battery (Windows and Linux)?6. Is AliExpress a good place to buy? Thankyou

Answer:Sierra Wireless EM7345 4G LTE Mobile Broadband FRU: 04X6014 for my ThinkPad X250

Regarding your questions:1) I personally use it and it's really good, as I don't want to use additional USB modem or WWAN wireless router.2) Can't say, as I don't use Fedora.3) There's a dedicated port for this module. Please make sure, that you have an antenna connectors for module and adapter for a SIM card. Moreover, instead of WWAN module, you can install there a m.2 2242 SSD disk.4) Both can be enabled and connected, but application will use one at time.5) I have an extended battery, so it's hard to tell. I guess it have a simmilar power usage as WLAN module (basing on Windows power utilization). Can't say about Fedora.6) It you don't want to have a problem with whitelist (it prevent system from booting, when unauthorized module is installed), then I look for module on eBay. Make sure, that photos explictly show FRU PN: 04X6014 on module's label. Models without it will not work.

Upgraded my Helix to Windows 10, clean install.  I noticed that my AT&T mobile broadband (Sierra wireless EM7700 4G LTE) isn't working. I keep getting a connection error and it asks me to enter another APN. I've instaled system update and all of the Lenovo drivers etc.  I've added the AT&T APN settings.  The signal meter in the connection manager is a little wonky also.  I changed the Selective Suspend value to disabled.  Windows thinks that the default microsoft driver is the best choice.  The Sierra Wireless Mobile Broadband Update app says I'm up to date with drivers and firmware. Can anyone confirm that their Helix (gen 1) mobile broadband is working with Windows 10? Thanks

Answer:Helix (gen 1) - Mobile Broadband not working after...

I am having this issue with Helix (Gen 2) and Verizon, but same APN issue. Sometimes after reboot it will connect. Has "Default" APN applied. Added Verizon APN information and tried using new APN profile, but did not resolve. Running on Windows 10.

Hi,I have a Helix 4SU model. I bought it very early periods and the model with GPS/mobile was not available at that time. Now I am wondering if it is possible to install a module to include this functionality instead of attaching an ugly USB dongle? Is there a ready conection socket or pin that simply I can attach? Thanks in advance for any help and consideration.Best,

I'm purchasing a Helix for use over in Africa. I'm curious if the included modem will work on the bands over there. There isn't much detail given on the order page. The country I'm going to uses the 900 GSM frequency band. I'm guessing their 3G networks might be on a different band? Anyway, any ideas if the mobile broadband modem will work overseas? Thanks! Seth

Greetings:Does it make sense to get the Integrated ____ (Verizon, AT&T, etc.) Mobile Broadband add on or is it more economical to get a USB or express card later on?Does integrated mean built in as it relates to this issue?Thank you.

Peter M. AbrahamDynamic Net, Inc.

Answer:What is the value of the Integrated Mobile Broadband add on?

The value is for people whom knows definitely that they are going to use mobile broadbands, in addition the reception using the integrated system would be better than the external usb plugins (most of them anyway), if you only occasionally use mobile broadband then some people would suggest an external one. It really depends whether you are a road warrior that need constant mobile internet access.

So after updating to windows 8.1, I can no longer connect to AT&T mobile broadband.  The AT&T app recognizes my sim card, but Windows shows no service no matter where I am! (even tested next to an AT&T tower).  I have the latest drivers installed from the Lenovo driver page, Sierra Wireless MC7700 - Gobi 4000 Software for Windows 8.1 (64-bit).  When it installs though it says Serria Wireless EM7700 not MC7700. Anyone else have this issue? Next issue is I can no longer connect to my corporate wifi which is 802.1x PEAP ,certificate based MSCHP V2.  I can connect to other non PEAP wifis without issue.  So at work I'm tied to an ethernet USB adapter when not on my USB 3 hub.Any help for the above issues would be much appreciated! I have model #3698-4UU

why lenovo omitted Integrated Mobile Broadband options such as Ericsson F5521g with 21Mbps D/L and Gobi 3000 from its list for customising a thinkpad T-420? and what people do now ( without those modules)  if they want to use a simcard for connecting to internet whenever they carry their laptop and need web services?

Hello,Ordered a laptop with this option. & have inserted a SIM card I used in my "old Sony laptop that I used for WWAN.What else is needed to connect? Thanks

Answer:What does " Integrated Mobile Broadband upgradable" mean?

Hi rookie66, welcome to the forums,

it means that everything you need for broadband, WWAN, is present except the all important module which actually makes it all work.  The module can be purchased separately, or, on some systems the slot where it sits can be used for a solid state drive instead.

As you probably want to use WWAN, if you post which system you have members will be able to inform you exactly what you need to realise it.

What does this mean? I ordered a T410 with this option and I would like to connect to my Verizon account- do I need a SIM card from Verizon to get mobile broadband to work. It appears no mobile hardwear is installed on the machine??  My x61 had the drivers and hardwear already installed - so this was previously very easy to do. Thanks in advance.

Answer:T410 - Integrated Mobile Broadband - Upgradable

Hi and welcome to the forum!Upgradable means that the internal antennas are installed inside, but you need physical Mobile Broadband card to use WWAN, the card can be bought from lenovo. I'm not sure about the SIM part though, isn't Verizon CDMA? were you given a SIM for your X61 from Verizon (given that you were using same connection)?

I just received my new T500 laptop with integrated AT&T mobile broadband card.  There are no instructions (i.e. printed material, installation CDs, or on-screen messages) on how to activate this feature.  I currently use the AT&T service on my T61 laptop using a broadband modem card plugged in to the side of the computer.  This laptop came with an integrated Verizon mobile broadband card and every single time I boot up a message comes up asking if I want to activate / subscribe to the Verizon service.  No such message (for AT&T) comes up on my new T500. Can anyone provide me with step-by-step instuctions on how to get set up and going?  Also, are there any AT&T broadband service users who can share any helpful tips in transferring an existing service from one computer to another? Thanks in advance for any help!

Answer:How do I Activate (Integrated) AT&T Mobile Broadband Card on T500?

"Also, are there any AT&T broadband service users who can share any helpful tips in transferring an existing service from one computer to another?" Just move the activated SIM card.  I have one activated SIM card that I move between a T60 and a T61 as required. Both of these machines have internal integrated Sierra cards, though. Have to remove the batteries while moving the SIM card. As far as activating service on your new T500, you should be able to do that by calling AT&T Wireless. Two people in previous threads on this forum have gone that route. Centex

When I ordered my T410s, I chose the "upgradeable" option.  What does that exactly mean?  Does this mean that I have all the hardware already pre-installed, and I just need a SIM card and a service plan?  I noticed what appears to be a SIM card slot underneath the battery.  Should have thought ahead when I ordered the ThinkPad and had them set it up ready to go from the beginning.  Thanks.

Answer:Integrated Mobile Broadband - Upgradeable vs. Gobi 2000

Upgradable means you have the SIM slot and built-in antenna, but need to insert a WWAN mini PCI adapter like the Gobi 2000. So you have all the hardware except the WWAN adapter. The WWAN adapter is easy to insert and not that expensive to buy so it's no big deal, but if you are going to use mobile broadband you could as well have bought the Gobi 2000 instead of upgradable. You need a SIM card and a plan as well from a mobile network operator in your country. -gan

Can someone confirm for me that ordering this will get me an Ericsson F3507G?  I have been told from our I.T. purchasing that it will be an Option card and he can get it cheaper and install himself.  I am trying to replicate a previously purchased unit  that is out in the field, for testing. Thanks

Answer:X200 Tablet with Integrated AT&T Mobile Broadband (Ericsson 3G with GPS)

If you are configuring that in the online store, the "Integrated AT&T Mobile Broadband (Ericsson 3G with GPS)  [add $80.00]" will be the F3507G, unless there has been a recent change. Amazing if your IT guy can go through the purchasing cycle, install, and test, for less than that.

Hello All: I can't get the GPS location feature working on my new W520 (4270-CTO).  The device did work once, the first day I had the computer (before running Microsoft Update and Lenovo Update), however, it has not worked since then. I've tried everything I can think of - removing and re-installing all the software, double-checking the BIOS, looking for device driver problems - but no luck.  When I launch the 'GPS Enabler' application, all I see is 'Satellite Acquisition in progress...".  I know the laptop can see the satellite constellation because I have a small hand-held GPS beside the laptop, and it has an excellent view of the satellites.  So does my Blackberry. My operating system is Windows 7 Pro, 64 bit, SP 1 (what the computer shipped with).  I've installed the 83wo13ww driver package (nominally version 6.4.1.6, according to the readme file, but displayed as driver version 1.4.0.5 in the properties sheet of the driver when viewed via the Device Manager); the 83wa20ww Lenovo Mobile Broadband Activation package ( version 4.0.0020); and the 83gp31ww ThinkVantage GPS package (version 2.72). I'm running Access Connections 5.84 (build 83c755ww), which I believe is the current release.  I have placed a SIM card in the slot in the back of the computer, and when I launch the Lenovo Mobile Broadband Activation, it shows all the appropriate information (IMEI, ICCID, etc.) for the SIM card... Just a postscript - I have found another discussion from about 18 months ago that mentions similar problems with a W500 and a T500.  One of the participants in that discussion suggested that improper assignment of COM ports might be the cause of the problem... but, if that is so, how does one go about re-assigning the two ports used by the GPS?  The picture I provided (link is above) shows that my W520 is using COM ports 10 and 11 for the GPS.  I have no idea at all how to change this port assignment. Here's the link to the prior discussion: W500 GPS Problem Regards, Michael

I purchased a W530 with integrated mobile and have been trying to connect with various networks to no avail. I have a Type 2436-CTO S/N xxxxxxx 13/08 and Windows 8 came installed when I received. I have upgraded BIOS and everything that Lenovo solutions says I need to update.

The MEID is A1xxxxxxxxxxx. It came with an integrated Sierra Wireless MC8355-Gobi 3000 modem. I have downloaded an updated driver for Windows 8 for the MC8355. I have spoken with almost every Lenovo technical person as well as taken the computer to various network stores and so far no one can figure out why it won't connect to Verizon.

Verizon says I'm active and the computer error message says I am not active. Every tech has tried to look at the system by logging into my computer and no one can figure it out. The device manager says the MC8355 is working. Interesting when it was shipped to me it also had an AT&T sim card installed. After I had signed up with AT&T and one mo of paying for service they determined it would not work on their network. Finally someone told me to take the AT&T sim card out and it still will not connect.

Verizon tells me I do not need a sim card as I have the MC8355 but they can't tell me why I can't connect. Now I've paid for Verizon service for one month and still cannot connect. Thanks riemannZ!

So the procedure for me was:

a) Install the Sierra Wireless EM7345 driver, in my case gtwo47ww.exe
b) Edit with admin privileges:
%ProgramData%\Intel\LENOVO MBIM Toolkit\Config\Config.xml

and set:

SilentAutoFWUpdate to false
PromptForSilentAutoFwUpdateFail to true
EnforceModuleCompatibility to false
FirmwareSysTray to true

c) Restart

You will be prompted for firmware upgrade, in my case with a generic driver.

I upgraded my Helix Gen 2 to Windows 10 with few problems except for the Sierra WWAN interface to Windows 10 settings. The cellular button on the wireless menu is greyed out and the cellular option page in settings shows no devices. The adapter setting shows the adapter, and on the Settings, Network & Internet , Airplane mode page show both Mobile broadband and Wi-Fi buttons. WWAN can be enabled by truning off Wi-Fi and turning on Mobile broadband on Airplane Mode settings page. With these settings, I can connect to WWAN Verizon and get to internet but:1. Settings, Network & Internet , Cellular shows no connections2. Wireless pop up menu shows Cellular and Mobile Hotspot greyed out. So, in summary, I can connect to WWAN, but only via Settings, Network & Internet , Airplane mode page using proceedure above. By the way, my upgrade to Win 10, switched on the rotation lock, but I was able to fix that in Win 10 settings in table mode.

With my cellphone on koodo I have unlimited nationwide calling. I'm basically not using my home phone.

I'd like to take it out, but It's still nice to have for fax and voicemail.

Now This is what I kind of want to do:

I want to get an unlocked version of this, and add it to a cheap voice plan from Koodo (I can get my internet elsewhere). This would cover my needs for home phone at a cheaper price.

Does such an item exist? thanks.

I purchased a T-Mobile Nokia Lumia 925 phone some time back. I got the phone unlocked by T-Mobile recently and am using an Airvoice SIM (AT&T MVNO) now. I see the status for AT&T and T-Mobile 925 as 'Under testing'. Can somebody tell me when the update will be available for my phone? Do I have to wait till T-Mobile complete their testing despite the phone being unlocked?

Answer:Nokia Cyan Update For Unlocked T-Mobile Lumia 925

You answered your own question. The network is testing it. Once it gets the ok it will be available.

If i were to buy one off of ebay and inserted my virgin mobile sim card, do you think it would work out fine?

Answer:Unlocked Nokia Lumia 1020 with Virgin Mobile

It's not going to ride on Virgin's CDMA network if you are talking about Virgin USA which piggybacks on Sprint towers.Use of a cell phone from a different carrier
If you mean Virgin in another country, please specify.

My current L920 (Rogers, Unlocked, Black) fell and the glass is broken. I bought it from Negri Electronics last year, but it doesn't seem like they have the same model available
I am on the Family Mobile (T-Mobile US MVNO) network and I would like to have a penta-band phone, so I could switch from T-Mobile or AT&T, and of course, I would like it to be unlocked also.
I tried searching on ebay but I was too scared about the unreliable ads that they had (they had listed an L920, as having the 1700 band, but it was clearly labeled ATT phone). Is there a reputable site like Negri that you can recommend?
If the 920 wasn't available or if the price was right, I wanted to get an L1020 that was unlocked, and penta-band. (On a side note, does the L1020 have wireless charging built-in? - i know the ATT doesnt have it built in, but how about the international/canadian version)
If the L1020 doesn't have wireless charging, should I get the 1520 instead?

Answer:Need advice: Where to buy Lumia 920 or 1020 unlocked, pentaband (or works with T Mobile US)?

If the L1020 doesn't have wireless charging, should I get the 1520 instead? No 1020 model has built-in Qi wireless charging, you will have to get a cover, like the one the 720 has.
I usually do my stuff via Amazon and less often eBay, so I can't really say much about actual web stores.
The 1520 is the mother of all Lumia's, in terms of horsepower, but also size, so if you can live with it, pick up the 1520.3 variant (?)

I purchase a locked ATT Nokia Lumia on Ebay and then later unlocked it so I can use it on Virgin Mobile (Canada). So I inserted my sim and it works perfectly except for my data. The data is not functioning even though its turned on in my settings. So I am unable to use any apps that required data and I am only able to use them if there is WiFi available. I'm paying for data and I am unable to use it!
So what can be the problem? Help!

Answer:Unlocked ATT Lumia 1020 doesnt work on Virgin Mobile network.

You need to configure the apn settings to make the data work.

Can someone confirm whether the Sierra Wireless HSDPA Network Adaptor is supplied locked or unlocked on the X60s? Just bought an X60s and was told the internal SIM slot is unlocked and would take any SIM card but for some reason it's taken an unhealthy dislike to my T-Mobile SIMs. When I load the ThinkVantage Access Communications Wireless Connection Staus window and click on the Mobile Broadbad tab, at the top above the Connection Status box I get the message "SIM card is locked...." When I load ThinkVantage Access Communications and press the Mobile Broadband button, I get the following message "The installed SIM card is not authorised for use with integrated Mobile Broadband adaptor in your computer." This latter message seems to suggest that Sierra Wireless HSDPA Network Adaptor is locked.

Answer:X60s - Is the built-in 3G mobile Mobile Broadband adaptor locked?

Go to ebay and buy unlocked mc8755 for lenovo. It is about $25 buy it now. I bought two, problem solve.

hi,i have Helix 36986CG win8 64 pro.when i tried to connect to my mobile network it says "insert SIM card". i tried 2 diffrent sim cards (the work using external 3G modem), this is why i think it's not a mobile provider issue. can anywone assit me solve this?tnx

Answer:not able to connect to mobile network - Helix

Hi, behegai

I would recommend reattempting the process of installing the SIM card and trying to connect to the mobile network by following the steps listed here in the User Guide (pp. 23-25). In all likelihood, you followed all the steps properly when doing this the first time, but it's a good precaution regardless. If the same error occurs following this, then there may be a hardware issue with the SIM card slot. Also, another good precaution would be to make sure that all the drivers and your BIOS are up to date, all of which can be found here.

Best of luck,
Adam

The "Lenovo Settings" app was preinstalled in inside this application you can share your network with the Mobile Hotspot option.  I can setup a new SSID, which is broadcast fine, but I'm unable to connect.  When I try to connect another device, the "Lenovo Mobile Hotspot" software show the MAC address of the connecting device with the status of "resolving".  Nothing else happens until the device gives up.  This is an out of the box configuration.  Has anyone got this working?

Hello, I am in the market for an ultrabook 2-in-1. Tablet mode for taking class notes and annouting as well as drawing and laptop mode for when I want to do brutal typing and workhorse class stuff.

I bought a refurb Yoga off of eBay with the digitizer and while the experience has been good, problems have started to crop up. I have image retention on the lower portion of my screen when the 8.1 start button used to be. Its only noticeable when I'm on certain darker backrounds....I don't see it on black screens...Also my touchpad is a bit bugger coming out of sleep.

I saw the Helix and it seems to have the same form factor except better handling in tablet mode. But I've read it has heating issues and poor battery life? The Yoga I am on is not that good with battery even with Haswell so I can't imaging the Helix being very good...

For those that have the Helix what do you like about it and has Lenovo solved some of the quirks..like heating, image retention and other stuff. Thanks. It's too bad other companies have their own compromises and those that don't are really expensive. Lenovo seems to have dropped the ball on their thinkpad line

Answer:YogaS1 Vs Helix: Has Lenovo solved Helix Heat, IR Issues...trying to decide between Yoga and Helix

Hello. Here's my couple of cents, for what they're worth, but I've had my Helix for a couple of weeks now and I absolutely love it. Have everything updated, BIOS, keyboard dock firmware and Windows 8.1.1 and it's smooth as silk in performance. My model is the i5-3337U / 4GB RAM / 128GB SSD, and I've never noticed any heat issues with it that I perceive as abnormal. The FHD IPS screen is phenomenally good, battery life is superb for this kind of machine, but I'm getting 8-10 hours easily on it with the keyboard dock attached, and good 4-6 hours on the tablet alone. And this on the default balanced power setting. The only thing I changed on it regarding that is to disable the auto-brightness feature while on AC, but it did flicker a lot while the setting was enabled. Otherwise, I've had a couple of hang ups on the ClickPad when resuming from sleep, but I just eject the tablet and connect it again to regain full functionality again. A minor quirk. The only real issue I have with it is the price, but it is expensive. However, this is a ThinkPad, and the quality of the hardware, along with the standard ThinkPad security and setup features gets my stamp of approval.

Hi! I have Helix (37023L0) with Ericsson C5621 gw broadband (driver ver 8.0.8.5 (although the newer version is 'out there' it is not coming to the laptop near me)). I get inconsistent broadband connection. The support has replaced comm-board, motherboard, I have checked the issue multiple times with the carrier. Win8.1 has been reinstalled. It seems that power management powers down the comm-board and then is unable to power it up properly. I see the connection (few bars) but no data comes through. Sometimes the whole device (Ericsson C5621 gw) disappears completely from the device manager. Restart helps for some time and then .. no data. Disabling power management from device manager for this device has not helped. As the hardware has been replaced, it must a software issue. Any ideas? br,Kaido

I purchased a HP ENVY TouchSmart 14-k111nr Sleekbook that came with T-mobile Mobile Broadband for 2 years from the Microsoft Store two months ago. When I clicked 'Internet Access', there would be a 'Mobile Broadband' option for me to choose and select the T-mobile Mobile Broadband. Unfortunately, that has not been appearing since the last few days. I checked my hardware and it appears that there still is a 'Smart Card' but with no information regardin it. I also checked the HP Support Assistant and HP Utility Center but they had nothing. I have tried removing the card and placing it back again. In fact, I suspect that it maybe the new updated drivers that caused my T-mobile SIM card to be disabled. I have tried calling HP support but they cannot help and demand payment for 'advanced tech support' when my Laptop is still under Warranty. Pretty bad for gaming...
Even a super basic fx5200 64bit blows it away in some cases. In others it's a little faster.

It might run those games, but they likely will be very slow, possibly unplayably slow.

Recieved my new X220 Tablet today (i7, 8GB, etc) and have to say its looks a nice bit of kit - only problem is I thought 'Integrated Wireless Broadband - Upgradable' - meant it had integrated WBB but you could choose upgraded hardware if you wanted - turns out what this really means is it has nothing unless you choose the Erricson device

Also, wish I hadnt upgraded the antennas as you lose the built in webcam - I didnt realise that by upgrading this component you lost what is essentially a given on most other laptops

Not a great start to ownership - I am about to try the pen to see if this is as bad as they say - if it is, its going straight back!

Question: Mobile broadband

I bought a Lenono Thinkpad Edge E530c and would like to use the internal 3G mobile connecting. I inserted my sim into the sim slot under the batery compartment but its not working.  It looks like the drivers are missing. When I start the Mobile connection app it give me "No Wireless Mobile Broadband device found." When I go look in the device manager I cant see any modems installed. So how do I make use of the 3G sim slot to connect to the internet? I also downloaded some bluetooth / modem drivers for my series but nothing seems to work. Please help.

Answer:Mobile broadband

Hi,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

To activate WWAN in your Lenovo ThinkPad E530c, first you have to ensure that you have a WWAN card and WWAN antennas installed. WWAN upgradable models have the WWAN antennas installed from the factory these will be red and blue wires (the Wi-Fi are typically white, black and grey or just black and grey depending on model). If you have WWAN antennas installed from the factory, probably you need to purchase a compatible WWAN card and install it. If you have a WWAN card installed in your system, install Lenovo Mobile Broadband Activation which will guide you through the activation of mobile broadband.

Go to Lenovo Support site, enter MTM number of your device in quick path and get the system specifications. If you find any difficulties, please share the MTM of your device.

Hope this helps!

Best regards,
Mithun.

Question: Mobile Broadband

I have mobile broadband with 3. Today I tried to connect and did so successfully. However, when I check the connection to see my how my usage was going my 3 connection manager told me I was not connected? How can this be? I am connected to the internet via my USB 3 modem not wifi and am surfing the net.Can anyone help me understand this?

Answer:Mobile Broadband

When you install the 3 Mobile Broadband software, an entry is added in the Network Connections folder for a "Dial-up" connection. If you double click this, you will connect without having to use the Connection Manager, which may still show you as *NOT* connected, even though you are.Additionally, if the Mobile Broadband is set as your default connection and in "Control Panel > Internet Options > Connections" you have selected either...- Dial whenever a network connection is not present- Always dial my default connection...then as soon as you run a program that requires internet access (web browser, email etc), the Mobile Broadband will connect.

OK, I asked a question before and got one response...but not answers. This should be simple.1. I have been using the mobile broadband on my T410 for 3 years. It worked fine.2. I did a major windows update.3. Mobile broadband has gone. There is nothing! COmputer says there is no sim card. (there is a sim card and I reinserted it)4. FN F5 bring up no mobile broadband.5. I am paying my $30/ month and have had nothing for past 4 months!!! its killing me. 6.  It worked once for 3 years. Now it does not work. I tried reinstaling the software and it gets almost rhrough and says "There is no mobile sim card installed in this computer"!! Ugggh!!!!7. Lenovo support is useless. Even tho I only annoyed them one time with a problem in 3 years of service contract, my contract ended a couple months ago....so no help there....I have spoken to a dozen people and none have a clue what to do. Surely someone out there has seen or heard about this? My computer cannot be convinced that mobile broadband should be allowed to work!!   HELP!

Answer:Mobile Broadband....need help - its gone...!

I'm the person who responded before. Could anyone who has mobile broadband and who has kept all the various Microsoft and Lenovo updates current tell us that their WWAN is still working? It seems odd if Wombat and I both had a hardware failure at the same update time, but I suppose it could happen. PS My card is an Ericsson 3507

Hi and welcome there.. i heard not about the first time this question.. Al what i can say is the best compatible WWAN card is the SE F3507  ...and not all cards will work overall (different / newer Card-Firmware) even when you buy a Lenovo card (used by some thinkpads/S10 with 3G/S10-2 with 3G)
second is more difficult have to disassemble your Ideapad ... you need to install a antenna in LCD frame (loose warranty)...
and the third barrier is under windows till now not correct working scenario (even with the actual drivers) ...
Hints for try out upgrading/opening S12  here in this part of forum ... same for tryout upgrading wwan card...

Hi,I was wondering whether my R50 laptop can support mobile broadband. I have tried to insert a Three dongle but nothing happens. The laptop has recently had a major problem and the software has been returned to factory settings a number of times. So I don't know whether a driver is required and it has not been put back on or whether the laptop is just too old? Thanks Extin

Answer:R50 - mobile broadband?

hey extin, welcome to the forums.hard for me to say if a driver is needed or not. The unit of yours, is it running on XP on Win7 ?If it is on XP, a high chance you may need a driver. I would then suggest that you get in contact with the mobile broadband vendor and check with them.

I bought Lenovo ThinkPad T 430, but the mobile broadband can't start. I had inserted the sim card and downloaded the  Ericsson H5321gw/C5621gw Mobile Broadband Driver  which I have installed but I cant find Mobile broadband manager compatible with windows 8

Answer:T 430 MOBILE BROADBAND

Hi Swathu,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

Are you sure that your model has been shipped with WWAN card from the factory?

If you have a WWAN card installed in your system, Lenovo Mobile Broadband Activation will guide you through the activation of mobile broadband. Also, install Think Vantage Access connections to handle various wireless profiles.

Hope this helps!

Best regards,
Mithun.

I phones 3 connect support and they were uselss. When I looked into device manager, and click on the icon (which has a ! on it) it says:
Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19).

It wont auto load and im getting pretty fed up. Please can anyone help. I am thinking I must have deleted some drivers, but when i select 'update driver' it says that my drivers are fully updated.

Hi, I've a Lenovo S10-3 to which I've fitted an Ericsson F3607GW wwan card for Lenovo notebooks FRU: 60Y3237.  I bought the card from Hong Kong via Ebay.  I downloaded driver 83W013WW.exe from the Lenovo site and it allows me to connect in areas of 3G coverage. Unfortunately we don't have full 3G coverage in Australia and in my home region there is only a GSM signal and the card will not connect to it, although my old usb plug in modem works fine!  According to the Ericsson data sheet the F3607GW has the full range of frequency bands avilable - so it should work! I see that other drivers and the Ericsson broadband Manager are available and would welcome help in what drivers/broadband managers to use.  I have read on other forums that some other modems require the region to be set to '3' to allow proper working in Australia. I would welcome advice on which drivers/manager etc to use to get the card working properly in Australia. If anyone has experience with the GPS capability of this card I would like to learn how it was done - that's the next step after getting the wireless broadband function to work! Looking forward to some good advice! Rogerf

Answer:Mobile Broadband on the s10-3, GPS?

hi rogerf.due to it was working before, i can say there's no compatible issue with the device and computer.you may need to contact ericsson or the mobile provider in aussie. still, there may be users here who has/had the same issue. you can wait for reply.

Question: mobile broadband

HiI'm having a problem with mobile broadband on our x200 laptops After a period of use the HSPA Mobile broadband becomes grayed out. On investigation it seems like the entire ericsson network adaptor has been removed as it has gone from device manager and it re detected . Reinstalling the driver makes no difference . The wireless and Lan connections are not afffected . On rebuilding the laptop the network adaptor returns so it does exsist on the laptop This is happening over multiple laptops . We have a locked down user profile so users would not be able to removed the hardware . Has anyone seen this before ?? Peter

Question: Mobile Broadband

I have 3 mobile Broadband. I have a monthly contract. Can I use it abroad, if so what do I do now?

Answer:Mobile Broadband

You would not be able to use your 3 mobile Broadband abroad as difference country uses difference system via their mobile network, you will also need an account with the local broadband supplier Mobile roaming calls worldwide is difference than mobile broadband Most International telephone companies have an agreement between themselves that will allow you to use your local mobile phone on there local network and charge you roaming fees from 80% - 175% above the normal cost some also charge you both ways, for receiving a call or a text message and when you make a call

Question: mobile broadband

Hi all, i am a first time user to having a laptop, i want to get broadband for it and it to be pay as you go, what do you suggest. also someone told me a can connect it to my desktop broadband, how would i be able to do this if so it wouldn't be mobile would it?. i'm with virgin with my desktop computer.

Answer:mobile broadband

Hi and welcome to the forums.

I assume you live in the UK like me so I think I can help.

I use 3 mobile broadband which in my opinion is the best of the PAYG tariffs. You can buy a dongle which is the expensive bit or if you have an unlocked 3G phone which allows tethering you can use that if you know how to set it up.
You get 150MB of free data when you top up (minimum ?5 in store, ?10 online) plus it also works as a phone if you want it to.
This 150MB of data lasts 90 days or until you use it all up.
This means it works out you spend ?1.66 for 50MB of data every month, which if you have static broadband at your home should be enough. If you ever use more than this just top up more regularly.

For more info (and probably a much clearer explanation visit 3 - Pay As You Go - SIM Only - Free stuff - Free stuff with every top-up)

I don't know too much about Virgin medias mobile broadband but a good place to start would be here Mobile Broadband - Broadband - Virgin Media

Hope this helps, Oli.

EDIT: After reading your post more carefully, it sound like your do not have your Internet connection going into a Wireless router and then to your laptop and desktop.

This suggests to me that your Virgin Contract may be quite old as all new tariffs include a free Wireless router and setup, not to mention less to pay per month (I went down this road with BT, tripled my connection speed, got a load of free stuff and I now pay ?10 less per month.)

Question: Mobile Broadband

Hi,Slightly hijacking the thread...I too live in a rural area (Ewelme in Oxfordshire). Our problem is that the exchange is the other side of the Thames and the Council will not let BT place more cabling over the bridge or under the Thames - so some users have Broadband others do not (only at 1mbps).Mobile signal is atrocious indoors, can barely get a signal and 3G is non-existant. However, outside and a few yards down the drive 3G kicks in.Therefore my question is: Is it possible to get a High Gain aerial and have that connect to the 3G dongle to access a better signal inside the house? If so, does anyone know how, and which equipment is required?I work in Kent and really would like to be able to work from home occasionally to avoid the 200 mile round trip every day to the office.ThanksJ

Answer:Mobile Broadband

Don't think there is any way you are going to get it, until Gov makes a move on all UK being able to get BB. This they are wanting to do. And charge everybody for the extra installation. About £6 to £8 a year. One of the things they are doing is laying Fiber Optics in Sewer Pipes

Question: Mobile broadband

Hi By default the Mobile broadband card in my X301 is turned off. Is it possible to turn in on by default when Windows start ups

Answer:Mobile broadband

It has to be mentioned as matter of disclaimer really since this forum is innundated with users who mistakenly believe they're x was GSM / CDMA equipped when they notice the SIM card slot under the battery. Most X's have the SIM slot but this seems standard regardless if the user configured or will have it installed. Assuming you spec'd your for the card and aren't being hopefully confused by spotting the slot....1. Check your BIOS setting to ensure the card is enabled2. check devmgmt.msc for the WiFi or "MobileBroadband" category since the category isn't standard and verify the card is properly installed and enabled / if it is then verify in the cards Advanced properties to ensure the OPERATING SYSTEM DOESN'T TURN OFF THE CARD TO SAVE POWER !!!! Still failing then contact tech support or reply with the rest of the story and whatever inordinary things you've done to this thing because the manufacturers and cellular providers along with Lenovo's group have worked extraordinarily hard to even COOPERATE IN DETERMINING CONFIGURATION AND RARE FOR  SO MANY THINGS TO COME TOGETHER SO WELL IN LAPTOP AS DO BROADBAND CARDS. The cards monthly subscription costs and cellular usage penalties has forced them to behave so cohesively when delivering the option since the type of person who buys a broadband card expects it to work and work out of the box. If you could take an official or even unofficial survey of what kind of hardware failure makes end users and prosum... Hello, I purchased a T400s in the UK which came with a Vodafone SIM inside it for mobile broadband. However, due to some error, this SIM never was activated and I can't use it. I'm wondering if I can purchase a mobile broadband SIM from T-Mobile (or indeed anyone else) and use it with integrated SIM component of the laptop - does anyone know if this would work just fine, or would any hardware or software modifications be required? (I have a clean install of Windows 7 on the laptop.) Thanks for any input, /vijayan

Answer:Mobile broadband SIM

Will work, if you will have SIm card with 3G activated. If you have model F3507g, then this is Erricson hardware and if you are not fun of Access Connections tool of Lenovo (i do not use this tool), then i can recommend you simple tool directly from Ericsson http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/support/mobilebroadband/download/wirelessmanager/gc83?lc=en&cc=us

Question: mobile broadband

Hi I am using vodafone mobile broadband while on holiday. I am able to receive emails but am having a problem sending them. There is no error message it just times out. I have rebooted laptop but am getting nowhere - had the same problem a few weeks ago - the email i was sending just sat in my outbox until I got home. Any suggestions appreciated

Answer:mobile broadband

The general rule is that you must send mail using the SMTP server of the ISP with which you are connected to the internet. At the moment, that means using Vodafone's SMTP server. Your email program will almost certainly be configured to use the SMTP server of your home broadband provider, which won't work with the Vodafone connection.

Question: Mobile Broadband

Hi - We are a company which uses a laptop to connect to our secure centre and the internet. We currently use a Orange Mobile GC75 data card which connects to the Orange network and then we dial in to our services and the internet. Our systems are advancing greatly and the GC75 card doesnt give a quick enough connection (Is seems like dial up again) so i was wondering if there was a broadband connection that we could use?Another problem is that there isnt a very good Orange signal where we are so was wondering if there was a data card that could be used with a manx card?We are also looking at buying a new laptop so i can get the best possible to match the data card.I may have got myself in a muddle here but basically i just want a mobile broadband connection that can be used everywhere when on the move with the best signal possible to make it more stable. You help would be much appreciated!

Model: 23255CGSerial: xxxxxxx
I also put a SIM card in this slot, but I do not know how can I activate it? Should I install a driver to use GPRS? Apart from the Internet, can it be used for both Call and SMS? Is there any utility to do so?

Answer:Mobile Broadband

If you didn't fit mobile broadband card yourself you havn't that card in your laptop from the factory. It's wwan ready only, i.e.has internal wwan antennas and sim card holder. If you'll decide to buy and insert wwan card you have not to download and launch application from Lenovo site "Mobile Broadband". It's for simless CDMA/EV-DO networks only.

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum.

I will be moving from the rented house I've been in for 21 months into a new house in the next couple of months. The house is a new-build and I will obviously not have broadband to start with - don't know if I'll have a phone line straightaway yet. I am trying to work out the best way to get online during this time.I am in the UK.

I went in to an O2 shop today and they were trying to sell me a dongle which cost £20 and then £2 a day, £7.50 for a week and £15 for a month. This would get over my immediate problem of geing broadband-lacking when I move but wasn't quite what I had in mind. I was thinking more of a dongle with x amount of Gbs (to be decided) which doesn't have clock running on it. So, after I've stopped needing it at the new house, I could take it out and about with me on my laptop whenever I wanted and when it ran out I'd top it up.

Does such a deal exist and, if so, what size in Gbs would be OK? We use aroung 10Gb per month on average but that's with the kids looking at YouTube, using iPlayer a bit so assume that just a bit of surfing would need less? Thanks for any help.

Answer:Mobile broadband Pay-as-you-go?

Hi,
I use '3' mobile broadband all over UK. £10 per month, 1gb which is plenty for an hour or so a day surfing plus emails.

I think in a new build you'll soon have utility providers beating a path to your door!!

Does anyone else use a mobile broadband stick that you just plug in to your USB port and away you go? I'm using one on the 3 network, its the second one I've had.And Does anyone know if companies such as AOL or BT plan to bring out versions as at the moment in the uk its only T-Mobile,3,Virgin,Vodafone and Orange who offer them, and usage is quite expensive typically ?10 1Gb,?15 3Gb and ?25 7Gb.I'm using 7Gb a month and I'm not downloading very much

o2 are are advertising it,but its just a 3G i-phone on pay as you go for ?350 i could buy a laptop for that!! At the moment Vodafone offer the fastest speed 7.2mbps the other all around 3mbps.
