Hi,I have an issue with connecting through bluethooth to my BT audio device.I am able to connect to the device with my android tablet, with my previous Lenovo laptop and even with my Blackberry. The computer founds the device, it recognises it as a BT audio device/sink, but when I click on the "listen to music" service nothing happens....I have reinstalled/upgraded the BT adapter to version 4.0 (Intel BT adapter v 4).I have tried evrything, I googled the problem etc but I couldn't find a solution, please help, it drives me crazy! Thanks in advance for any comments/ideas.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Bluetooth audio connection issue (on x240 with Win7)

Wohoo! -- I just solved the exact same problem. Anyways: I could also pair to my headset, but nothing happened when I clicked the links. (I even tried to install Skype to see if that would enable the link, but that didn't help.) This is what you should do: Disable the Bluetooth radio ("Turn adapter off"). Computer will hang for a while and report a dll hanging. Continue through the dialog box (in effect killing the DLL process). Start the Bluetooth adapter again, and the links work. Use the VoIP link to use your headset for Lync, Skype, Hangouts or whatever. Hope this helps. Please let me know if it works. Cheers, ~Silverjam :-)

Hi, I have a problem with the sound. Whenever I try to use bluetooth speaker, the sound starts being chunky, crashing with too many delays. I have tried two different speakers. After some research through the net and many attempts for fixes, (I think) I found what is the problem. However, I still can not understand excactly how to solve it. Thus, I need some help. I think a picture of the DPC latency will explain everything. Thank you very much for your time!

Hello, Since a few weeks,  I haven't been able to use my bluetooth speaker anymore. I used to simply connect (Bluetooth Devices -> My speaker -> Services -> Listen to music) but the "Listen to music" link is now grey and disabled : impossible to click it.I investigated a bit and realized that the "Intel Wireless Bluetooth" driver was not correctly installed. I tried to uninstall, repair, reinstall it, but couldn't do any of these actions, I always got an error message near the end of the installation process.I'm pretty sure this is the problem : I checked the device manager and discovered 16 "Bluetooth Peripheral Device" with a warning icon in the "Other devices" category ... Doesn't look good, right ? Is anyone struggling with the same issues ? Have you found a way to fix it ? Thanks a lot for any help. Best, Sylvain E.K.

Ok here is what I am wanting to do..

I run Windows 7, have a nice sound system connected to my system. I would like to use my computer as a bouetooth receiver and play audio with my phone or tablet, both Andriod based. I found semi guide online and ordered a bluetooth adapter. Windows sees the adapter well enough and I can connect with my devices, but can not get audio to play thru the computer generated by device...

Reason I am doing this is most of my audio is on phone or tablet, IE audio books and podcasts, I know i can run the same from computer, but It would be nice to keep everything in sync by using just one device..

Any advice would be appreciated...

Answer:Tech question, Use Win7 as bluetooth audio device

Never tried that before, but I recommend you to research on audio-sink service and make sure your adapter supports a2dp.

Good luck!

I recently purchesed a Lenovo Z500 with windows 8 already installed. Even though it was a huge pain to get rid of win8 and do a fresh install of windows 7 I still some how managed it. I got everything to work exept the blutooth. Now here is the problem, while I had windows 8 I could connect to my phone and send stuff and do everything with bluetooth. Now with windows 7 all I can do is search for bluetooth devices and not find anything. I did install all the drivers that were suggested on the site and used F7 to check if it was working. My laptop still cant find anything. Does anyone know how to fix this ?

Click Add a device, and then follow the instructions.3. Click the Bluetooth enabled device you want to add to your computer, and then click Next. Establishing SPP Bluetooth connection between a laptop with Win7 and HC-05 BT Receiver

Hello,

I am trying to implement BT btwn a laptop running Win7 with Arduino IDE, and a BT device called an HC-05. The HC-05 is located at and powered by a remote Arduino UNO board. I'm doing this for the first time, and am also new to Arduino.

I am looking for someone with some experience in setting up Serial Port Profiles for Bluetooth devices.

Some Details:

When the HC-05 BT receiver is powered on by the Arduino a red led flashes at about 2Hz. If I go to My Bluetooth Devices in Win7, I select Add Device and choose All as the type. The HC-05 appears and Win7 reports it was installed successfully, although in the list of devices Device Type says unknown. If I open services I see Serial Port Profile (SPP) only. If I double click it it says Service action in progress for about 30 s, then an error says Device failed to respond. At this point the HC-05 device red led now flashes slower about 0.5 Hz. If I now double click on the SPP again I get the error: "No more com ports can be created for this device." If I rt click the SPP icon I get one option - to "Create Port", but the same error occurs.

If I investigate with Device Manager: under "Ports" I see 3 ports listed, copies that say Bluetooth SPP Driver with COM1,2,3 shown. The third has a exclamation icon on it, under properties/status it says "This device is not working properly because Windo... Read more

Hi everyone,

its day five with Win8 and the next Problem occurs.
In Win7 i installed Bluetooth and connected my Windowsphone7 without ANY Problems, using my X230 for making calls with the setting headset and speakerphone:

Link to picture

Now in Windows8 the option headset and speakerphone does not appear ANY MORE.
THIS IS UNBELIEVABE. Is this a Problem of the Thinkpad's Bluetooth 4.0 Stack?
It may be a Problem of Win8 but I'm not sure.

Up to now, i can STREAM Audio from my Phone to the Computer (holy crap who needs this) but using it for calls... no way, because the phone wont be recognized as in Win7. So now bluetooth has become useless in my Thinkpad.

I really dont know if there will be any solution, but I'm posting for x230 Users to be careful when upgrading to Win8.
There will be much more problems you expect...

best regards
Christian

Answer:Yoga 11s - Unstable Bluetooth Audio connection

Hello Rebeck16!

It is possible that the bluetooth device is going to sleep occasionally to save power.

Try opening Device Manager, find your bluetooth device (On my Lenovo, it is a Broadcom bluetooth module. Yours may be an Intel). Right click to go to the device properties. Under the last tab, uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" and hit OK.

I'm not sure this is the right place to post this but I'm just going to guess that it is.

I recently upgraded my desktop from 7 to 10. I used to connect my laptop (already using 10) to my desktop via Bluetooth and it allowed me to select the desktop pc's speakers as audio output, effectively mixing both computers' audio through my headphones attached to the desktop. This is no longer something my computers seem to do; literally all that has changed is that I upgraded the desktop OS and I would have assumed this is something windows10 can do but the Bluetooth menu is almost comically unhelpful.
It used to be relatively easy to do this in 7 but I am at a loss as to how to do this in 10. Is this functionality somehow not a part of Win10?

I'm trying to tether to a Palm Treo 755p to a S10e.  I'm using USBModem on the 755p.  I've installed Ubuntu re-mix on the S10e (dual boot for Linux and XP) and I can connect to the 755p with no issues using Bluetooth/Linux. When I try to connect to the same device through XP there is NO Bluetooth "option" (Bluetooth modem) to make the DUN connection.  I know it all works under Linux but it is frustrating that I can't make the connection under XP! Any ideas on how to get this working under XP?  By the way, I can do Bluetooth/Palm syncs from the 755p to XP with no problems. -Karl

Hello folks, I have a new T410s (2901-CTO) running Win7-64.  Experiencing a strange issue with a bluetooth headset installed using Hands Free profile: during the course of a VOIP conversation (Skype or Google Voice), the call audio will be perfectly clear one moment, then become garbled a static noise overrunning the audio, then sound clear again.  This happens repeatedly every 30 seconds or so (but not at a regular interval).  The garbled sound sounds almost like a blown-out speaker - like flapping static over the speech or other audio coming at me...  Then it goes clear again and sounds great. VOIP calls using the built-in speakers and microphone(s) sound fine.  I've tried two different headsets that show the same problem - both work fine on other machines and via my cell phone.  All drivers are current, reinstalled etc. I suspect some kind of radio interference?  Driving me nuts because VOIP is now "the law" where I work.  If relevant, I have the multitouch display (worthless), and the top-of-the-line "Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 AGN" WiFi. Supposedly this WiFi has the triple-antenna so... Any thoughts?

Hi everyone,I have got a Yoga pro 2 recently and the problem I'm having is that I;m unable to stream audio from my Nexus 5 phone to the pc through bluetooth. The device and the pc paired normally during setup. Though I find it odd that when I turn off bluetooth connectivity on the phone and turn it back on, the pc does not automatically connect so I have to unpair or remove and redo a new find and pair for the two. Ok, now the problem is after the connection is set nothing happens and there is no way to stream the audio to the yoga pc running windows 8.1. On my other pc, a Sony Vaio, also running win 8.1 pro (upgraded from win 8 pro) , once the phone and the Sony are paired via bluetooth, a windows pops out to immediately play the audio. I have check all the bluetooth drivers and they are up to date, and I even downloaded bluetooth drivers from lenovo support but no change. What's missing? Why can I not stream audio via BT? Why nothing happens when connected?

I've recently bought a Bluetooth USB Dongle for my Dell Inspiron 1764 laptop so my wireless headphone could connect to it. It is a Ciberspeed Sports Bluetooth Headphone and it has worked for my iPod so I'm not sure if that's the issue. I appreciate any help.

Answer:G780 - Dolby Advanced Audio v2 guides and Bluetooth issue

Hi Lvt,

Welcome to Lenovo Forums.

We are really sorry to hear about the issue you are facing.
First make sure that the Audio driver and the dolby will be in sync.
Open Device Manager
Uninstall the Audio Device under Sound and gaming controllers / Make sure to place a check in the Delete driver software prompt.

Now make sure you don't have any dolby components
Proceed to Control Panel / Programs / Uninstall a Program
                     Uninstall all Dolby Related programs
                             Restart if Prompted
Now install this software driver

https://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles/au200w81.exe
When you install this software it will show you a directory path whre it will extract, Make sure to remember the path

This next step is important
Open the directory path where the Audio driver installer extracted the Audio driver.
Check all the folders inside it and find the Dolby Installers, Install the Dolby either Advanced audio or Digital plus.

and you should now get your Dolby back

Hope this helps
Cheers!

Regards,
Shashi Kumar

From this time C510 apears in window "view paired devices" in bluetoothstack options....but PCsuite doesnt see C510 and BluetoothStack neither....

Hi there I own a HP Spectre x360 - 13-4070nz (ENERGY STAR) and I just acquired a Bluetooth Headset from Bose, the new Bose QC 35. The headset works like a charm any Windows 10 PC I tried (Dell XPS13, Lenovo Yoga) and with my Android Nexus 5X. However, I have a blocker issue if I use it with the Spectre x360. Pairing works, even if I had to repeat the process several times. Once paired, listening to music works mostly fine ? in stereo mode. The problem arises when I try to perform a call. The problem is the same with any program, Skype, Skype For Business, Skype Preview or my Softphone (Bria). I can hear the counterpart, but they can only hear a really loud static noise. I tried an Echo / sound test service with Skype, and the recorded sound is exactly as my counterpart described. I can record and attach it if you want.I have updated all drivers, soundcard, Bluetooth, BIOS, I have updated from Windows 10 to Windows 10 Anniversary update, and I have update the QC35 from 1.0.3 to 1.06. Nothing helps. I have tried all possible setting configuration, remove the Bluetooth device, added it again etc. Still static noise. It is clearly an issue with the Spectre x360, and as far as I know this model had several other Bluetooth issues before. Therefore my question to HP: could you please look into it and update the drivers to support the Bose QC35, which is a hit on the market?Thank you and best regards

Answer:X240 with 7260 ac, the bluetooth not working.

I believe the X240 is shipped with the Bluetooth radio turned off.  To turn it on try Fn + F8.  That should bring up a screen that controls the power settings for the wireless radios.  If the bluetooth radio status is off, click on the button to the right to turn the radio on.  That should enable bluetooth on your laptop. If the bluetooth radio status is already on and not working then a call to tech support is in order.

Hey everyone,I've searched around quite a bit for a solution to this but have yet to find an aswer that has worked so hopefully someone here will be help out. I recently purchased an x200 tablet that was upgraded running windows 7 ultimate (originally ran vista business) everything works fine with the system expect for the audio. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers provided by lenovo (both the windows vista and windows 7 drivers) and still havnt had any luck. The audio plays fine when speakers or headphones are plugged in but no sound comes out of the internal speakers and according to windows device manager the "devices are working properly" I called lenovo support and they just suggested reinstalling the drivers. If anyone has found a working solution to this any help would be much appreciated. Many thanks,Mike

Satellite C870.

1) Issues with Bluetooth - machine couldn't find other devices and there were problems with communications;

2) I'm very, very disappointed with the quality of sound. The speakers are very poor. If I knew I wouldnt'n buy it! Unfortunately, I had no chance to check it and assumed Toshiba will keep the minimum standards in this matter.
In the past (some years ago)

I've used Toshiba laptop and it was OK.
To be honest I've puchased this computed due to my good expirience from the past, but will be more carreful in the future.

Now, I have to life with it as spent 800US.
The rest is OK - for the time being.

> 1) Issues with Bluetooth - machine couldn't find other devices and there were problems with communications;

What Satellite C870-xxx do you have exactly?
From my own experience some models support BT and some don?t? so probably your unit does not supports BT or you did something wrong while BT configuration.

> 2) I'm very, very disappointed with the quality of sound. The speakers are very poor. If I knew I wouldnt'n buy it! Unfortunately, I had no chance to check it and assumed Toshiba will keep the minimum standards in this matter. In the past (some years ago)

From my own knowledge different models supports different hardware specifications. You can purchase notebook models with Harman-Kardon speakers which provide better sound quality. This unit seems to support standard speakers.
So it?s always a matter of price-value ratio and in my opinion this is not too bad.

Here's my situation:

I have 2 computers running Windows 7, a desktop and a laptop. The desktop is the "main" computer, and is connected to the internet via cable modem. The desktop has 2 network cards. One is connected to the cable modem. The other is connected, via crossover cable, to my laptop.

A couple years ago, when I first got the laptop, I set up ICS somehow and everything was working great. I was able to share my desktop's internet connection and I was able to see the shared directories I had set up on my desktop.

I had disconnected my laptop several months ago, and it has been dormant in it's carrying case since then. I just took it out today, and I plugged in the cable to connect it to my desktop. For some reason, I no longer have internet access. The network icon in the tray shows the yellow "!" symbol saying "no internet access". I have no idea what happened, and I don't remember how I had set it up in the first place. I tried for hours searching forums online, finding dozens of different setups and "fixes" to ICS issues. I tried setting the IP to 192.168.137.1 on both machines, since it was never clear in these posts exactly which connection to set to what.

I am terribly confused and there is a pressing matter that I NEED to get this connection working (here, at home) in order to tend to. I don't understand why this is so complicated, and why I cannot simply click a button to enable sharing be... Read more

Hey, remember back in the good old XP days when you could right mouse click your networking icon in the service tray and select "Repair your network connection" and it would flush out NETbios and repair your DNS connection right then and there?

Well now in Win7, when you right-mouse click the networking icon, it takes you through this stupid wizard that tries to diagnose what's wrong instead of doing what I wish it would do immediately.

Is there anyway to modify this behavior back to the way XP did it?

Well no answer. I guess this can't be done, right?

Hello folks,

my name is lynn. I have been told on a different forum that my laptop does not have bluetooth on it. So, i went and bought a bluetooth adaptor made by targis. It is a usb device. I have it installed with all drivers. I have a bluetooth iblue 737a+ gps receiver; again, all drivers installed on my laptop for it. For some unknown reason, my computer sees the bluetooth adaptor, but refuses to see the bluetooth GPS receiver. I have had it up at Office depot all morning since i bought the adaptor there, but they could not figure out the problem either. The receiver can be seen when connected via a usb mini cable, but the program i wish to use it with, microsoft streets and trips, requires i use it with bluetooth and not a cable. The adaptor doesn?t see my Windows Mobile phone either. I know the GPS and phone are working properly and fully charged because they see each other and I can use my GPS program on my phone with no problem. . I am out of options and/or ideas. Can anyone suggest anything else i should try? I do have an account on msn and would be happy to voice or video chatg there if someone needs to explain something lengthy to me. Oh, and i am blind so use a screen reader to operate my windows 7 lalptop, but that should not have any bearing on figuring this confounded thign out!! :)

thanks, lynn w.

My problem:Bluetooth sets up and appears to work fine for a few minutes, then stops working.  It doesn't work until either the system is restarted or the Bluetooth adapter is disabled and then re-enabled, but in any case stops working again after a short while). When it stops working, the Bluetooth device status in device manager shows as "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. The Touchpad stops working and is grayed in options. Trackpoint is fine. Driver reinstall helps, but not for long - the issue appears again very soon, especially after plugging in the power. No problem in Ubuntu/Linux. Any idea? Driver version is the latest one for Win7 64bit: 18.0.7.109. BIOS: GIET90WW (2.40).

I finally downloaded and installed Windows 8 on my computer today. It has 3 hard drives, an SSD that has Windows 7, and two other drives that have media and other stuff. I shrank one of these volumes and created a new 50 GB partition for Windows 8. The install seemed to be without any glitches and I spent some time exploring the new OS.

After a while, I rebooted to go back to Windows 7 and the network adapter would not connect to the internet. I rebooted and went back to Windows 8 and it did connect to the internet. I should note that upon reboot, the screen was black to make the choice of OS, unlike when 8 first installed.

Basically I get the " Local area doesn't have a valid ip configuration " problem. I tried cycling the modem/router/pc with no luck. I reset the Internet Protocols as suggested but that did not help.

I uninstalled the adapter and let it reinstall in case it was a driver issue, no dice.

I did let Windows 8 do some updates if that is relevant.

Any ideas or suggestions? I appreciate any help.

Hi, I just upgrade my X220 to X240 yesterday despite a number of negative reviews but still felt attached to the red trackpoint.  The problem I am having is with IE11 update. The computer is running win7 64bit by factory setting, I have applied all the important win 7 updates and also updated most of the drivers to the most recent one. But when I applied the IE11 update, the X240 restart with "c000021a The verification of a KnownDLL failed." and I had to roll back to the previous restore point. I have also tried to upgrade to IE11 directly from IE10, same result. I have not installed any other software on the computer.  Is this a known issue with X240 hardware? Anyone was able to resolve this?  Thanks!

Answer:X240: No audio device detected

Hi Murtys, Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums! As per the query we understood that you are facing issue with No Audio on your ThinkPad X240.

Please confirm if the driver is installed in your system and it is not showing any error in device manager.
Check if Audio is enabled in BIOS.
If there is any yellow mark in ?Device Manager? run ThinkVantage system update utility application, so that it will check for all the required driver for your system.

Hope this helps.

Best regards.

Hi there

Recently got a Toshiba L755 and have been having an issue with audio & video playback since I got it.
I have updated the latest drivers for the Conexant HD Audio card and this made no difference.

Basically during playback there is an intermitant distorted sound during mp3 playback, video playback and online streams.

I have tried different programs and the same thing happens, however, when I have a LAN cable plugged in there is no issue - it is only when im connected to the net via wireless.
I have a netgear router which is working fine.

Can anyone please tell me what might cause the wireless to create this issue and how to go about fixing it?

many thanks
Alex

I have an X240, which I love, but now that I've cut my cable cord and am going with Netflix and other on-line streaming options, I'd like to be able to view my streaming programs on my TV.  Can I use a cable or adapter to go from the miniDP (on the X240) to my HDMI (on my TV) and get audio as well as video?  I understand my laptop needs to have an "audio pass-through" for that to work --- I don't know what it is, but I'd like to know if this one's got it.  I bought the laptop online in Dec 2013, if that makes a difference. (Yes, I could stream Netflix from a gadget like Chromecast, but that will only get me Netflix Canada, whereas using a VPN on my computer I can get Netflix from other countries too.)

Answer:X240 - is there audio pass-through when using a miniDP to HDMI?

refreshing this discussion!   I've tried a mini DP to HDMI dongle with an HDMI-HDMI cable to the TV - and I get video but no audio.  My computer recognizes the TV as present as as audio playback device, but no audio is transmitted through TV or computer. when it's plugged in.  Of course I still get audio from the computer's speakers when it's not plugged in

Hi Guys, X240 will not work correctly on any Mitsubishi Electric XD490U projector. I know this is one of the older projectors we have but I don't understand why it would be playing up. The X240's all work perfectly fine on all our other projectors just not this particular model. When I connect an x240 by VGA to the projector it will sometimes connect and disconnect straight away or not connect at all. How I get it to workEven then it will disconnet after sometime)- Toggling through the options with F7 on Duplicate mode (takes 5-10 trys till I get it working- Manually going through screen resolution options on desktop works 50% of the time- Installed latest video card drivers, going through Intel?s HG Graphics options is also 50% of the time will work- Restarting Netbook with VGA plugged in doesn't do anything As soon as I plug it in it should just work and duplicate the screen like it does on every other projector. I have uploaded a video on YouTube so you can get an idea of what it is doing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qI86s3ctoVI Cheers guys,Mitch

I'm having issues with vga display output while trying to setup two samsung syncmaster 24inch monitors. The monitor on digital output, dvi or dvi-d, will display perfectly fine. The montior on vga connection will not display correctly. When you pull up a window on the vga connected monitor, it will out-stretch the whole screen, no matter what resolution setting. Adjusting monitor settings will not overcome this window expansion. I have attempted the following to fix:
* Switched vga cable to different monitor - same outcome
* Changing resolution and output settings - no change
* Swapping out vga cable - no change
* Removing monitor and intel graphics drivers and reinstalling - same outcome
* Installing monitor specific drivers from samsung - no change
* Testing within Lenovo Solution Center - no problems
* Upgrading Lenovo Solution Center - caused the program to quit working altogether
* Trying a combination of vga + Dvi and vga + Dvi-d - same issue
* Upgraded the Pro Dock firmware - still nothing
* Swapping out Pro Dock with different Pro Dock - same issue
* Plugging same setup directly into my old X220 & base, and both monitors/connections work flawlessly

Im at a complete loss other than this has to be another firmware issue with the Pro Dock.
See the picture showing vga monitor with FireFox browser opened. You can see the window stretched beyond the display boundaries; notice you can't see the Tabs or Minimize/Red X buttons.

When I turn on my iPhone 6 Personal Hotspot, my ThinkPad X240 sees it and connects, but results in no internet connection.  But I can successfuly get internet connection with the same phone's hotspet to my older ThinkPad Edge and also to my iMac.  And the same issue occurs with my wife's iPhone 6, so this is not about my phone.  My X240 is running Win 8.1

Solved!

Go to Solution.

Answer:No Internet Connection to X240 from iPhone Hotspot

I don't know this problem and I don't have an iPhone 6 to try.  It works OK with my iPhone 4s.  I have 3 ideas for troubleshooting:

1.  Make sure you're using the latest WiFi driver for your system.  http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-x-series-laptops/thinkpad-x24...

2.  Open Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Power Options.  Click on "Change Plan Settings".  Click on "Change Advanced Power Settings".  Find the "Wireless Adapter Settings" and expand it.  Make sure "Power Saving Mode" is set to "Maximum Performance" for both battery and plugged in configurations.

3.  Open Device Manager -> Network Adapters and then double-click on your Wireless/WiFi adapter.  Click on the "Advanced" tab and then scroll down to preferred band.  Try the different preferences and see if it makes any difference in your ability to use the hotspot.

Hello, I recently migrated Win8.1 from X240 HDD to SSD, and replaced the stock HDD with the SSD. I managed to reset the system to the original Win8 factory settings, and updated through Windows update to Windows 8.1. I also used Intel Driver Utility 2.0 to update drivers. So far everything goes well, except for when I connect my X240 with VGA port to my TV. The resolution of my Sony Bravia TV is HD ready (720p), whereas my X240 display is Full HD. When I had my X240 running on HDD, connecting to my TV through VGA port went smooth out of the box. No resolution issues whatsoever, I got a screen-filling display. I guess it must have something to do with drivers, but I'm not so driver-savvy. What driver would be involved in this (VGA port)? Thanks in advance!

I had an X220 and just get a new X240.  I am surprised to find out that the microphone sampling rate undercontrol panel->Hardware and Sound->Sound->Recording->default device (internal mic) is limited to 48KHz.  my old X220 can do 96KHz.   I have already updated to the latest audio driver from Lenovo for the realtek chip.    I am doing a lot of audio processing and need the higher sampling rate and also win 7.     Does anyone get the 96KHz working on the X240 ?  If I need to install a different driver, I am fine with it. This will be a deal breaker for me.  If I can not find a solution, will have to return it.    Appreciate any pointers.. Eddie

Answer:X240 audio microphone sampling rate does not include 96KHz

After researching and playing with the system,  I found a solution.  Uninstalling the "Realtek High Definition Audio Driver" under the Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound enables sampling rate up to 384KHz  instead of 48KHz. If there are other solutions without uninstalling the HD audio driver,  please post.  Thanks Eddie

Hi, I have a X240 think pad laptop, it came with Windows 7 x64 installed as standard, with upgrade disks to Windows 8 (even though no disk drive). Anyway, Windows update killed the laptop, so I had to wipe the C Drive and re-install windows 7. However now I cannot activate this version of windows. I just keep getting the DNS error when trying to activate. I was under the impression that this version was an OEM version and would auto activate.  I still have the Lenovo recovery D:\ Drive but don't know how to pull the Activation key from it. I have used a key finder but the key it gave me again didn't work when trying to activate. What can I do please?

Answer:X240 - Windows 7 - Activation issue

Hi,and welcome to the community.Perhaps the OS reduction you have installed isn't the same as was preloaded. OEM isn't enough. You can't use yourself the OEM reduction activation key as a set of symbols for manual activation, you can backup it using 3rd party tools. Activation key is stored in BIOS SLIC, it's inaccessible for the user.If you have Lenovo preloaded image recovery media or its .wim archives on your drive you could perform laptop recovery to the factory state. The steps depends of what you have, your skills etc.

Hello, I have a thinkpad X240. The Trackpoint button (nipple) has never worked since I've had it. The computer used to have Windows 8.1, however now it has been upgraded to Windows 10. The trackpoint button still did not work after the upgrade. I have tried updating the BIOS to the latest version, with still no change. The keyboard was recently replaced by a Lenovo tech as some keys stopped working properly, which means that the trackpoint button was replaced too. However, it still does not work. I have tried completely removing and re-installing the Synaptics driver from the lenovo website. The Trackpoint button shows as "Enabled" in the BIOS. Below is a screenshot of the "Thinkpad" tab in the mouse section of the control panel. I am guessing that there is supposed to be another option under the "Pointing options" dropdown menu which allows the Trackpoint button to be enabled.  If anybody has any suggestions as to how I can get it working, that would be appreciated.  Thank you

Answer:Thinkpad X240 Trackpoint issue

Hi, welcome to the forum.

I think you already did what is necessary by reinstaing the synaptics driver.
You tried the Synaptics ThinkPad UltraNav Driver for Windows 10 (32-bit, 64-bit) - ThinkPad /19.0.17.115 / 10/27/2016, right?

Since you machine was serviced it may be that something is wrong with the keyboard or the installation of it.
If you feel confortable open it up you can check the Hardware Maintenance Manual - ThinkPad X240 and check how the keyboard get installed to see if all the cables are connected.  I'm not sure if page 89 shows what needs to be plugged for the keyboard. (I don't have that model)

But since this looks like more hardware related, I think you should open a formal ticket.
Regards

Hi! I am experiencing a weird glitch that happens to my laptop keyboard.  Last weekend, I have discovered that only 5 and 6 keys work on the top row number keys of my keyboard. Also, F10, F11, F12, Home key and Delete keys don't work. Other keys are working. I have tried the keys multiple times but the don't register anything on the screen. I have tried booting in my linux system and the problem persists. I have tried multiple reboots, load optimized settings in bios  Upon testing the top number row, I have discovered that pressing 6, 7, and 8 key, simultaneously, registers an "equal sign (=)" on notepad, and 3, 4, and 5 keys registers an F2 equivalent click, which proves that the keys aren't broken.  Yesterday, upon booting up my system, all the keys seem to be perfectly working again.  However, last night (up until now)(out of the blue), the aforementioned keys suddenly didn't work again. Anyone having the same problem? Any solutions, guys? Thank you!

I just reinstall a fresh update of my x61 tablet and have it in a docking station hooked to my 27" dell widescreen (woohoo! it's nice) I have a logitech mx5000 bluetooth keyboard and an mx laser mouse, both using the built in bluetooth, verus logitech bluetooth dongle/software...  (I didn't want to add a second bluetooth radio and more crappy software) it boots up fine, works great but when it goes to sleep and then comes back awake, the bluetooth is gone and no keyboard/mouse. I put back to sleep and wake a second time and it's all back to normal (slight delay in connecting) go to sleep the 3rd time, I lose bluetooth, 4th time, all is back to normal?!?!?!? I can repeatably get this to occur, every other time? ideas?

My keyboard won't stay connected to the Bluetooth. Windows disabled the Bluetooth and gave this messge: "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)." What is this and how do I fix it? I can't get my Logitech K810 keybaord to stay connected. It pairs, and works for awhile, then disconnests, even though it says it is connected. Driver update says the drivers in place are the right ones. I've also tried Bluetooth dongles to connect with, but I get the same problem -- connects for a while and then disconnects.

Hello,I just really resolved "Famous" issue with Lenovo X240 Trackpoint and wanted to share my experience. In December 2014 I've bought Lenovo X240 and for some time used it with mouse only.Recently I took it the trip and recognized that TrackPoint is not working at all. I had X60s before and TrackPoint was always very userful, so I was very disappointed from new X240.Yes, I've checked it' was enabled in BIOS.Yes, I've tested all available drivers from Lenovo and Synaptics.I even bought new keyboard and replaced it - no result. Finally I decided to check contacts on the way from main board to TrackPoint.Bingo, I found defective soldering and what is pity - both  brand new keyboards have the same defect! Please refer to attached photos.Shame on Lenovo, because Trackpoint is solid part of ThinkPad brand for sure.To fix it you need to disassemble laptop in the way that's required to change keyboard. You also need special low power soldering iron with sharp thin adapter, better binocular lens andhard hand like surgeon Just re-solder contacts from flat cable that goes to main board to designated contacts atkeyboard assembly. - I've marked exact place by red figures on attached photos.. To be 200% sure that you identified proper contacts to resolder, takesomething sharp and touch these contacts that look not well-made - they will move.

for a while it seemed to be working and now its again crackling and shuddering. its driving me nuts! then i brought THIS

so that i can make anything bluetooth just to my disappointment that i dont think these 2 thing scan connect to each other, i mean how would i connect to things that have no gui together? but someone said they have done it ant it works fine but i can for the life of me find out how to do it.
i have already trying updating the drivers on my computer and i ave the latest. but if i cover my bluetooth or even move 2 feet away from it it crackles and disconnects sometimes. it was not doing that at first and i only tested it with my pc but yea. i tried 4 phones and they are flawless, i could go outside of my apartment and i would be connected on all 4 phones but not on my pc.

Windows 7. Thinkpad W520. Observed behaviour:  Run "services.msc"Restart the "Windows Audio" service or any service depending on it (e.g. Windows Audio Endpoint Builder).Use the volume keys to modify the audio level. Audio level is modified but the on-screen-display doesn't indicate any change.Use the mute button. Audio is muted and this is reflected in the Windows audio mixer, but the LED in the button doesn't light up to indicate the state change.Expected behaviour: The on-screen-display should continue to function even when restarting the audio service. I should note how I came across this. I was firing up some old games and some don't interact too well with the Windows 7 sound system and globally alters the volume level even after exiting, i.e. the mixer shows that the volume is at an unaltered 50% (or whatever), but the system is much quieter. Restarting the audio service fixes this, but apparently breaks the volume OSD.

Answer:Restarting Windows Audio service semi-disables audio OSD on Win7

It's probably just a bug in the OSD software code.  A very minor bug, at that.  Why are you so concerned about it? Since there's probably nothing you can do to "fix" it, anyways.

Hi, I have the Lumia 1020, but when I connect my phone via USB to my car, and select USB as the audio source, the Honda will say no device is connected.
The same situation will happen via bluetooth as well. It will pair the 1020 to the vehicle, it will ask to sync my contacts however, again when I try and select bluetooth devices as the audio source, the car will again say no device is connected.
Can anyone please help me, there is no aux in the car, but there is an HDMI connection. Any assistance will be much appreciated.

I recently installed a bluetooth dongle to allow IP softphones to be used with bluetooth headset.

The problem is that every time I reboot the PC, the default audio device sets itself to bluetooth audio and not the Soundblaster X-fi card which does not suite all other applications such as media playback

This means that I have to go to Control Panel > Sound and audio Devices > audio tab and set the default device back to SB X-fi before I can use the PC.

I want the default to remain with the X-fi card as the IP Phone software allows me to explicitly set the bluetooth option within the application. With the current scenario I need to change the default audio following every reboot in order to hear audible sound via the PC speakers (even if I did not use the bluetooth or IP softphone previously - although it should not change the default audio even so)

Can anyone advise how to make the SB X-fi setting of the default audio stick after a reboot.

I am not sure if this issue is a bug or by design. I remember reading in a magazine about someone else reporting the issue, but unfortunately cant remember if their was a remedy.

Thanks

Hello there!
We need the dump file and couple of other logs to diagnosis BSOD. Follow the instructions to post the logs Code: Go to here http://majorgeeks.com/SF_Diagnostic_Tool_d6520.html and download the application.
Right click on the application and click on Run as administrator
Then click on Grab All
Then go to your Desktop you'll find a folder name with today date i.e. SF_14-09-2012
Upload the file to Sky Drive and post us the link.

Two Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit computers on the same network, the desktop has a printer shared that the laptop would like to access.

The oddness began after I managed to get the laptop to access the desktop via Start > Run > \\desktop, successfully connected up the printer via filesharing and tested it, but every time I restart the laptop it decides that it can't find the desktop any more.

However, if I do Start > Run \\192.168.0.6 (the IP address of the desktop) from the laptop, it connects successfully every time. I've set things up like that for now, but I can't say I've ever seen an issue like this before.

If I do a name lookup on either machine, it resolves the desktop's IP address correctly, regardless of restarting the laptop. If I do \\192.168.0.6, let that open a connection successfully, then do \\desktop, it works. If I just reboot and do \\desktop, it doesn't.

Ideally I would like it to work via computer names so that the desktop doesn't require a static IP.

Answer:Win7 <-> Win7 file sharing issue after client reboot

These days we use something called User permissions and security settings to establish safe reliable network connections.

You can just right click the folders you want to share and choose the security and permissions settings, they tend to stay put after that. Or you can click on the "share" tabs and go from there. If you are using all Windows 7 machines in this network then setting up a Home group is the way to go.

Hi,

I really had not this 'Bluetooth connection' before.
But, I really don't know that pairing my Nokia Bluetooth with my HP Laptop Bluetooth would add this Bluetooth connection or NOT.
I really guess this Bluetooth Connection was listed there when I connected my Lapotp Bluetooh with Nokia Bluetooth.
Thus, I will really not have any problems if I deleted it. But I am asking you what benefit of that Bluetooth Connection.
This is below was not here:

Finally Could please let me know how to use this Bluetooth Connection.(How to benefit from it)? I really use an ADSL Internet subscription, and not Dial-up connection. Also, I am connected wirelessly to a Modem-Router. Thus, what password and username should I type in the fields in the above screen shot?

Answer:'Bluetooth connection' is shown in my Network Connection suddnly.

Pairing a mobile phone will create such an entry and there's nothing to worry about. I don't think you can use it to go online since as you said you are using ADSL and if you want to go online via your modem with your phone just use the wifi connection

Hello

This is my firt posting here. I hope, someone can help me.

I connected two notebooks via a TP-Link router (Wlan 54g). The first computer is a brand new Samsung RF511 Win7 Home Premium 64bit with Intel I7, 8GB Ram. The second is a 5 year old HP Pavilion DV5000 device with Win7 Home Premium 32bit.

It dosent matter if i connect via Homegroup or direct over the network to the files. The speed of transmission between the two computers is about 3-400KB. Sometime, i get about 7-800 KB. But no idea why. I guess, i should get at least 3-5MB.

If i click over the network on a movie file (only one clock - no double click) windows explorer need about 20-30 seconds for read the filedatas. While this happen, Windows Explorer get slow.

Fluid browsing in from folder to folder is not possible.

So, whats wrong with Win 7? On the Samsung notebook installed a virtual XP. If i access with XP to the datas, it is very fast. Doubleclick a movie, and he start withinh 2-4 seconds. I spent some hours to find a solution in the internet. I saw, there are plenty of users with the same problem.

I try alot: things like netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disable, disable remote differential compression and many things more. Turning off Firewall and Avast Antivirus...Nothing helps. I change also from DHCP to static IP. I checked all the drifer and firmware. Everything is up to date. For me, Win7 is a backstep.

Answer:Slow Network connection between Win7 and Win7

Try resetting your WINSOCK catalog:
Winsock entries tells Windows 7 how to access your network services.
Additionally, your TCP/IP protocol can be corrupted.
The TCP/IP protocol is a stack of 4 layers that includes several transport layers.
When this stack is corrupt you will constantly have connectivity issues.

Open a command [CMD] prompt with admin privileges,
then execute these commands:
netsh winsock reset catalog (reset winsock entries)
netsh interface ipv4 reset (reset TCP/IP stack)
netsh interface ipv4 reset

Can't remember where I found this online - but it has helped me with network browsing in the past.

I got Win7 on both my laptop on PC.
I set the network, and computers see each other
but, when I try to access the shared drive, I'm getting this message: Image 1324847505-clip-35kb.png

My user permission set like this: Image 1324847635-clip-25kb.png

I do able to access to "users" folder on each PC. I compared the permissions, and they look the same.

Any idea what might be wrong?

Answer:Solved: Win7 to Win7 Network issue

You should be able to share a drive as well as a folder. Some people (for reasons unknown) had trouble sharing a drive with Vista. Maybe some people are suffering a similar problem with Windows 7. How to Share the Root of a Drive Under Vista may help with your Windows 7 issue. Don't be put off by his first three paragraphs of ranting; he does get to the issue.
