No touch or pressure function on X230 Tablet screen.

Question: No touch or pressure function on X230 Tablet screen.

When I purchased my tablet from Lenovo, I understood it had both touch and pressure screen functionality. It does not.

When I rotate the screen and fold it down the stylus pen doesn't work. Nor does the screen function as a touch screen.

System Information:
Product - 3434CTO
BIOS GCET20WW (1.09)

I am running Windows 7.0 Professional, 64 bit.

Please advise as to how to make the pen (pressure) and touch functionality available.

All assistance is very much appreciated

Below is the parts list for my machine.

Preferred Solution: No touch or pressure function on X230 Tablet screen.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: No touch or pressure function on X230 Tablet screen.

you still have warranty? you probably have a pinched cable that needs replacement.

Greetings, Lenovo Community! I just bought X230 Tablet notebook with Product Key 3435-5LG, but can't understand if it is supports inputting with fingers, or it only has pen input. Thanks for you time, looking forward for your answers!

When I start up my system, all appears to work OK.  Then, at some point both the pen and touch stop working.  When I turn the screen into laptop mode, I find that the mouse pointer and buttons work normally.  The only way to get the pen and touch to work again is to restart the computer. I ran the system update and all the drivers are up to date.  I also tried deleting all the input and screen drivers, and did a reinstall, but that didn't change anything. I'm wondering if it may be a BIOS issue, since I saw a posting that suggested that, but it was not for the x230. This is really driving me nuts...I'm out of ideas.

Hello,Recently my brother bought a refurbished x230t type 3437-XE1.Spec: windows 7, processor i7, 8gb ram. Since I tried it today, I was never able to get the finger touch to work (no tablet touch screen function at all), but  the stylus pen seems to work perfectly. Also, the simple tap gesture (double clicking with two fingers on the pad) doesnt seem to work.I dont know whether some settings are not correct or the refurbished product has its faults. Please assist me in how to solve the problems.thank you.

I had called technical support and was informed that they cannot help me, so I was to ask on the forums instead if I wanted any assistance.  My ThinkPad has recently started having issue where, regardless of what program I am using, it will stop recognizing any touch interface via stylus or finger at all.  Previously, attempting to update drivers, or install the driver pack again would allow this to function once again.  However, this temporary fix seems to have stopped working entirely at this point.  I am running Windows 7 Professional (a requirement for the software needed for my research) on a 64-bit operating system.  Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.

Hello!

While working at my latop I thought of a novel idea on how to draw in Photoshop without having a pen tablet. My starting point was thinking about a way to better hold the mouse for a more accurate brush stroke. It came to me that if I somehow use it like a pen i could make sketches easily. I searched on the internet if something like this exists and I found about optic laser pens. However being impacient I started chopping one of my older laptop mice and came with the idea of attaching a crayon with paper tape to it. After a few adjustments it seemed a good ideea. However this is were it gets tricky. It's really annoying to use a button to draw a line. After a while the noise gets on your nerves. Also there's no way to control the pressure of the strokes. Having tried this I have thought maybe taping the touchpad with my left hand could do the trick. However it doesn't work that way. The touchpad driver isn't programmed to tap and hold the click until it is released. Obviously this isn't a good behaviour under normal circumstances. So I have scoured the internet looking for a solution but this is were my luck runned out. I have installed the Synaptics touchpad driver suite and I tested various settings to get the touchpad to work the way I wanted. It is clearly obvious that Synaptics can emulate pressure by measuring the contact area between the thumb and the touchpad. The harder the thumb is pressed the flatter it gets and the larger the co... Read more

Hi,I purchased the Lenovo Twist two month ago.Recently, I found three white spots (known as pressure points) on my screen,so I sent it to the depot for warrant service. The service center said the white spots were caused by a physical damage such as a strong pressure,so it could not be covered by warranty and I should pay about $700 to fix it. I am very careful with my laptop and do not believe the white spots were due to strong pressure. If they were caused by a regular touching on the screen (since Twist is touch-available screen), it must be manufacturing defect. Any suggestions for this issue? Or should I just give up and learn to live with them?

Hello, I am at a support desk for a company. I have a user with a Thinkpad X230. We are looking for drivers to allow his function or hot keys (such as volume) to display a visual on screen when using these functions. I have checked the drivers on this website. I found in other forums that you need to install "Energy Managment" however the only options under drivers for this product is "Power Management" which is already installed. So far I don't see any settings that would control the on screen display functionality. I also attempted to install a hot fix, which also did not work. Any suggestions?

What is the response time (in ms) of the screen on X230 Tablet?

Answer:What is the response time (in ms) of the screen on X230 Tablet?

It depends on overdrive level applied to the lcd panel. Typically it will be around 16 ms that can be improved to ~ 8ms by overdrive that also affects lifetime of the display. And no, there are no LCD panels with 2 ms response time, it is just marketing fluff (similar to PMPO audio power nonsense).

I purchased a new X230 tablet in August 2013.  I'm running Windows 7 64 bit ultimate, Office 2010 Pro, and all updates, Microsoft and Lenovo have been applied.  I have, or at least I believe I have, shut off the option of the screen dimming or the machine sleeping in battery mode and while plugged in.  I've noticed this since I first purchased the unit but haven't used it in tablet mode enough to worry about searching out a solution until now. My problem is when put into tablet mode, typically running OneNote, but I've also seen it occur with just the default windows screen up, after a few minutes of inactivity, the screen goes black and I've not been able to wake it back up and am forced to perform a hard shut down. I sure hope there is an easy fix for this.

Answer:X230 Tablet Black Screen Won't Wake

Oh, and I have the Gorilla glass outdoor screen model and all power management functions in the Bios are shut off. Please help, as right now tablet mode is essentially worthless as the black screen now is appearing right in the middle of writing with the stylus.  After a couple hard shut downs, the Synaptics drivers appear to be blown away and the NavPoint stops working and must have the drivers reinstalled.  Please help.....I'm missing my tablet functionality!!!  Please help.

Anybody have any idea how to get the touch function to work? I have the multitouch/multiview screen (brand new as of yesterday) Thinkpad X61 tablet & can't figure out for the life of me how to get the touch function to work. The stylus pen works fine but I would have bought the superview screen if I knew the touch function on this was this hard to use. I can't find a touch panel settings utility to adjust settings referred to in the manual - anybody have any idea where it might be hiding?

Answer:Mutli-touch screen touch function ?

Never mind about this question. I'm very embarassed to say I just realized I have the SXGA screen, not the MT-MV screen after all. (No, I am not blonde)Message Edited by Leilani on 05-05-2008 09:16 AM edit: In my defense the model I purchased online at the Lenovo Outlet clearly says it was multi-touch-multiview on the specs I downloaded of the particular pre-built machine I selected & put into my cart. The nearly-indecipherable packing list which came with the tablet which was actually shipped to me seems to indicate indicates it is a Superview ("SXGATFT"). YIKES! I guess now I need to investigate what other specs vary.Message Edited by Leilani on 05-05-2008 09:41 AM

I have just completed a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate and all went well except for the screen brightness issue. Anyone have any ideas where I can simply increase this as I have searched everywhere for screen brightness, even BIOS for any setting for display. I have latest update to display driver. I have two other laptops and each shows much brighter than this one and I am surely disappointed in this display. Not sure if it is because this screen is touch enabled and also works off keyboard that could be the issue and a separate setting could be involved on the touch side of the display as it does work with a stylus pen or touch also. thanks and   I hope I can get this brightness to increase somewhat as it is too hazy for me.

I am in an IT department at a small clinic in Idaho.  We have several X220's and X230's here.   There are several machines that have issues with the touch screen just stopping.  Nothing with the pen/finger will work.  The mouse still works, but nothing with the pen. We created a script that restarts the TabletInputService, the docs would run this script when the pen stops working.  That script works a majority of the time, but not always.  One of our docs just received a brand new X230 Type 3435-2TU 2 weeks ago.  She pen has stopped working several times in that two weeks.  She said that script only works a few times.  She has to reboot for it to work again....so rebooting works.  We can't have docs rebooting 3-4 times a day. Does anyone know of a permanent fix for this? Please help!!Desperate IT Guy!!

There's this weird rectangle of discoloration on the left side of my screen.  It usually has tiny lines that are multicolored.  The colors change upon pressing on the left side of the screen, specifically the bottom left corner of my screen.  The rectangle also seems to get affected the same way as i grab the tab like surface on the top right of the screen to rotate it into tablet mode.  After searching other posts, i believe my problem may be that that the "contact tape has been delaminated?" http://http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/X-Series-Tablet-ThinkPad-Laptops/X220-broken-screen-need-second-o...as this person in this post a similar problem.  I also wanted to point out that the rectangle usually goes away in time or if i push the rotate screen button (sometimes).  It also seems to not be there sometimes when i start up the computer as its not there when it shows "lenovo" during start up but then the rectangle appears.  If i take a screen shot of it, the rectangle doesn't come on the image as you will in the pictures below.  If i duplicate my display on an external display, the rectangle won't be there.  HOWEVER, there has sometimes been a rectangle of discoloration on a different part of the external display.  Interestingly, as you will see in the picture attached, the rectangle is only as long as the window i opened in that screen is.  but the rectangle won't show outside the window or rather the desktop of the exter...  I prefer to use my trackpoint stick rather than the touchpad because I can leave my hands in typing position.  Trouble is my X230 stick feels much harder to move than my other current and former  Thinkpads.  Even using the stick for just a couple minutes makes my finger sore.  I have adjusted the Wndows control panel -> mouse ultranav -> trackpoint -> settings -> trakcpoint stick -> sensitivity to light touch.  But I use other thinkpads (T430, x120e) stick with sensitivity set in the middle and they are much easier to start movement with.  All Lenovo drivers are current. Seems that the X230 stick is different and requires much more pressure to get going compared to other models. Any suggestions or other adjustments I could try? Thanks.

I have an issue that is plaguing my ThinkPad X230 Tablet. I cannot afford to be without it for a week to send it into the depot and am not sure they will be able to replicate the issue even if I do. Two things are happening. Tablet is placed in the docking station. I then wait for the Windows home screen and place back in the docking station. When I do this, TSM Resident immediately quits. I recently changed the screen of my HP ENVY x360 [model: 15t-aq100] with this exact screen I got from eBay. I took out three cables and the little chipboard thingy, put back the little chipboard thingy and three cables and--voilą! The screen turns on and I get an image and, besides my little issue, it works fine.

My issue is that the touch screen function doesn't work at all--the computer recognizes that there is a "HID-compliant touch screen" when I open up my device manager and that it is enabled--but even after updating whatever software it wants me to update--even going so far as updating Windows 10 *shudder*--I don't get a response when my greasy little fingers caress the screen. The touch capability was working before and after the fall--I don't think any other cables or sensors got damaged, just the screen.

So my question becomes this: the screen I bought was touchscreen capable, right? It looks exactly like the old cracked one. How can I tell whether or not the screen itself is touch screen capable? If you don't think it's the screen I bought that's the problem, but something I did, what should I do? I tried inserting and reinserting cables and restarting the computer. I haven't tried searching for drivers for the screen, but I don't know where or how to find those. I'm honestly at a loss of ideas as of how to resolve this, so please...help?

Here is a link to the computer maintenance and service guide if that... Read more

Multi-touch screen2. Active protection system3. ThinkVantage Access connections Nothing seems to help. The system was purchased July 2009 with 7448CTO on it and never knows if this function is working or not.  It should be there.    How do I know if I have the screen rotate sensor built-in?  Any pointers here?  Thanks a lot!! Milliken

hi there, I have an X61 tablet 7767-B7U configured with Vista business and multitouch screen. I am somehow disappointed by the touch screen, pen is ok but touch really needs meto press hard with the finger; if I want to scroll a web page using the finger I have to press so hardyou can almost hear the noise of the finger frictioning on the screen. Is that normal or something is wrong withmy screen? There seems no way to increase sensitivity for touch screen, only calibration whichhelps for precise positioning. This way it is not very usable, so I am ending up only using the pen, which is frustrating as I got the machine also for the finger touch capabilities. Any suggestions? So years ago I saw the HP TX2510us model and fell in love with it. Even through the overheating and wifi card problems, I was willing to dish out the money and get one...

then life kicked me, hard, and I couldn't afford it.

Now.. I have a little breeze money again. But years have passed, and to a computer, that means a whole new evolutionary phase.

What's out there that is decent and affordable?
I've been seeing ebay sales for the 2510us model for as low as $350 with shipping, I missed out on that deal though by like 1 hour (stupid work!)

What I need it for:
Sketching/Drawing (main reason)
3D sculpting (more drawing programs)
Possible a little gaming (minecraft, maybe some other things like wow-ish, nothing super "high tech')
Music
Youtube
general surfing (under Wireless N speeds, so N is needed)
Touch screen with wacom (because I did my research and wacom is amazing, but a basic pressure-sensitive pen/eraser will work)
Movies (DVD)

Would love it to have 2GHz, 3+GB ram, 100+GB HDD, and a graphics card capible of handling some of the advance pixel shading and such (for graphic reasons, not game reasons)

Hi, I have Lenovo X61 tablet with windows XP professiona installed. I am not able to use its touch screen at all. And I cannot see the pen settings in control panel either. I have already installed the touch screen driver for it. How can I download pen settings in the control panel . any idea! cheersSumair

Answer:Lenovo X61 Tablet touch screen

The tablet-specific settings are only in XP Tablet edition. But even so, the digitizer and pen should work without them on XP Pro - are you sure you installed the Wacom ISD tablet driver?

My HP Pavilion 360 does not switch to tablet in some Roblox games, well to be clear it does pop up the switch to Tablet dialog and touch works but you don't get the touch on-screen controls for moving etc. so it's like somehow the game does not now know that it's a tablet  This is inconsistent as the tablet works in some Roblox games and not others. Has anyone else experienced this and if so how did you fix it? e.g The onscreen controls show and work in Roblox game "Stop it slender 2" but not in Roblox game "prison life"

Here's the problem: I recently got a new computer with Windows 7 on it. I downloaded THE most recent Wacom driver for my intuous tablet but the pressure sensitity won't work. I think it has something to do with the fact that I can't save any software into the folder called Program Files which is always a folder where software goes. There's a strange folder I've never seen before called "Program Files (x86)" and some software doesn't approve of the strange characters; this is the folder that the software is installing on (unless the software rejects it). On my new computer, "Program Files" folder a read-only folder and I can't remove the read-only setting even though I'm the administrator. I get an error message saying "An error occurred in applying attributes to the file: C:\Program Files\Commo...\Alphabet.xml Access is denied."

I've saved Photoshop into a folder that I made called "Graphics Programs." So, my tablet is working just like a mouse except there is no pressure sensitivity for programs like Painter and Photoshop and probably Illustrator is the same. This is a huge problem for me. I also tried reinstalling the graphics software thinking that maybe it didn't work because it was there before I installed the tablet's driver...this didn't work.

I went to the control panel and opened the tablet settings. It allows me to test pressure sensitivity there and everything looks setup properly.

Anyways, it would be nice to fix this ... Read more

I hope someone here can help me out. What I have cobbled together is a CCTV system that I want to make even better.I have a CCTV image going into a DVR. It then goes to my lap top for viewing. What I'd like to do is perhaps send the image to a small computer or tablet first if needed, and then to a touch screen monitor where I can annotate or circle a portion of the live image ( or frozen ) very much like you see during a sporting game. Team members movements, etc. This system is used in the field and I'd like to keep it as portable as possible. Is there just software I need to obtain,a pre-fab monitor that has this feature,or what are my options?Thank you for your help as I need to find a good working answer.

Answer:I need help with an upgrade to a touch screen monitor function?

A way to do it with a frozen image would be a screenshot and then mspaint which with a touch screen would be able to draw on the screenshot in say a yellow paint brush to mimic what you see on football games when they show the plays on TV.Without lots of programming, I am unaware of any software out there that is free or low cost that gives this feature to home users without the mimic of a screenshot opened in mspaint and touch screen controlling the paintbrush. To get the screenshot you can have live video feed and press the ( Print SCRN ) button to grab a snapshot of the screen, and then create a shortcut on the desktop to mspaint and launch that and paste the screenshot to paint and then you can write on it with paintbrush with finger and a touch display. To make it more advanced you could use a macro creator to turn a hot key on your computer, a key you might not use on a regular basis such as tilde key ( ~ ) into a capture, launch mspaint, and paste the image to paint a 1 keystroke feature.Maybe others here have a better method, but thats all I can come up with. As far as the laptop getting the video feed from CCTV and being mobile, you would have to go with wireless transmission of video and you would be limited to range, and the cost would be expensive. Cheapest would be a camera rolling that is attached to the laptop to USB and grabbing a still of it and drawing on that such as if your out in a field and took an image of it and wanted to draw and point out where for peo... I have a problem using the Yoga 2 Pro with an regular external monitor while the lid of the laptop is fully closed. After about 20 minuts the cursor and other things start acting weard. I noticed that perhaps heat from the keyboard controlls the closed screen with random movements, just like as if I touch the screen. That means that i can use the Lenovo only opened, but on my clean desk I like to be able to use it closed (with my external monitor). So, id there a function to have the screen and the touch function deactivated while the laptop lid is fully closed?

Answer:Yoga 2 pro - How to turn OFF touch screen function?

Dear FranFlorida

Welcome in lenovo community

Kindly be informed that when you close the lid in any mode ( sleep, Do nothing, etc ) the screen is going off , as long the LCD is getting touched when you close it so it might be the LCD switch cable issue , but i would recommend if you can do the recovery and then check if the machine can work normally or not

Let me know

Thanks
Alaa

I have an ASUS tablet that I don't know the model nor is it listed anywhere on the tablet. it originally had a detachable keyboard but the guy that gave it to me didn't have it. according to device manager, it has a generic touch screen driver. I have frequent unresponsiveness and sporadic automatic touches a with the touch screen, and I think it may be due to the generic touch screen drivers. If I had the ASUS one, I think it would work better. Device manager reports the hardware ID as: HID\VEN_ATML&DEV_1000&Col01 but no search engine can find it. Google had only two pages of results, all of which were dodgy. Many others like Yahoo only had one page of results of the same dodgy or other dodgy results. I was wondering if you can lead me to the right one. You have been so helpful with finding me drivers before so I am sure it would be no problem.

I have just bought a 7" Android tablet from China at a very good price. It works well except for one thing, scrolling on the touch screen. I have to press hard to get it to scroll which causes it to open up what was pressed or it will scroll very quickly to the bottom of the page. I don't seem to have any control over the scrolling. I have contacted the company about this and I am waiting on a reply. Would anyone have a solution to this problem? Thanks.

Hi,

Configuration :
HP Pavilion tx2000z CTO NB
Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 1 (64-bit)
AMD Turion(TM) 64 X2 Dual-Core Mobile Technology Gold Edition TL-68 (2.4 GHz)
12.1" diagonal WXGA High-Definition HP BrightView Widescreen (1280 x 800) w/Integrated Touch-screen
4GB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm)
NVIDIA(R) GeForce(R) Go 6150

NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150 Video Driver - 7.15.11.5682
This is the video driver version for my HP tablet(HP Website). But unknowingly I installed the latest version(7.15.11.7770) from NVIDIA through Windows update. And from that time onwards, my touch screen stopped working. It is not recognizing my stylus/finger.
I contacted HP care and they advised me to follow these steps.
1) Uninstall the latest driver and install the 11.5682 driver
2) Bios Flash
3) Calibrate
I am done with the first two steps but still my touch screen is not recognizing the pen. So I couldn't calibrate.
When I contacted the HP care again, they are telling it may be because of hardware failure. My notebook is working perfectly except this touchscreen.

Please anyone help me to solve the issue.

Cheers
Arun

I aquired an HP TX1305US convertable touch tablet. it seems to have some issues with the touch screen. first of all, half the time, the touch doesn't work. anytime i flip the screen around into tablet mode, the pointer goes haywire and when i go back to laptop mode, the pointer is stuck in the corner, and it can't be moved. also, the application toolbar comes up and the only way to fix it is to reboot. i uninstalled the tablet functionality through windows and reinstalled and the problem is still there. additionally, when the touch screen was working, i had to use alot of pressure. i was kind of expecting it to work like an ipod touch or pda. i'm not sure if this could be hardware or software. the laptop has vista ultimate. i checked ho for all the updates and everything should be current. any ideas of what could be the problem?

I had to re-install winxp on my x41 tablet. I had no recovery partition and the recovery CDs did not work, so I had to install a fresh Win XP Pro.The touch screen no longer works, i.e. the digitizer pen no longer works. I spent hours downloading drivers and software from lenovo support centre but nothing worked. I have one device in hardware manager that is not working, it is an "Unknown Device" described as "on Intel(R) 82801FBM LPC Interface Controller - 2641". I cannot seem to find a driver for it. I installed ThinkVantage system update software, which installed and updated all critical and recommended updates in addition to some of the optional stuff that seemed remotely relevant. Any help would be much appreciated.

I own a Fujitsu TH700 Tablet PC. It initially ran Windows 7 and everything was working really well on it, but then I upgraded to Windows 10 (I was curious) and some features just have not worked properly since. The one problem that I have been unable to fix is the touch screen. When the computer is in its "laptop position" (see image) the touch screen works just fine. However, when I rotate the screen and click it into the "tablet position" the touch screen becomes completely unresponsive. When I lift the lid again into the "laptop position", the screen remains unresponsive until I put the computer to sleep and wake it up again. After that, it works completely fine.

When the laptop screen is turned and clicked into the "tablet position", there is a programming shift that happens to turn the laptop into "tablet mode" (this is not the same as Windows 10 tablet mode. In-fact, Windows 10 tablet mode doesn't recognize me turning the screen and clicking it into the "tablet position"). I'm not sure what the differences are between the TH700's laptop mode and tablet mode. The only thing I can see is that the screen auto rotates (as shown in the image).

This malfunction started occurring soon after I downloaded Windows 10, but I'm fairly sure it was working properly for a week or so. It was only when I connected my TH700 (in the "tablet position") into an external projector that the touch scree... Read more

This is my first post here. I use PSPro for drawing for fun. I use a mouse. Recently I was given a tablet. In theory this is better, as holding a pen is easier than the mouse for drawing. The main problem is that the image is on the laptop screen and the pen is on the plain tablet, so you have to guess where to start drawing by moving the pen around until the cursor is positioned where you want it. The next problem is that I do not want to relearn all the PSP commands (and positions around the edge) on the tablet. The mouse works with the tablet, but putting the pen down to use the mouse is a hassle. There are expensive (around £1000) tablets with a touch screen where you draw on the image, just like a pencil on paper. Too expensive for me. Is there a touch-screen tablet that will work with Paint Shop Pro? What about an Ipad? I dont really know how a touch screen works with a programme liike PSP. Do you just touch the screen in the same place as you would position the cursor? Does a tablet have USB ports so I could save my work on a memory stick, or by cable to the drive in my laptop? I dont know if its possible, but If I could draw on the touch screen and save my work on my laptop, this would be ideal. I hope someone can help. Thanks in advance.

Windows XP Tablet Edition had to be removed from my Lenovo ThinkPad X41 tablet because the PC was issued for school, and the school-licensed software had to be removed. Now I'm running Windows XP Pro (a mistake on the school technical administrator's part?), and the touch screen no longer responds to the stylus.
I tried to contact the school technical administrator, calling to his attention that I'm no longer running Tablet Edition, which is probably necessary, but he has not responded.
I've tried installing such drivers as 7jge15ww and 913z07us, and I've run the ThinkVantage System Update several times, to no avail. Is there a driver I'm overlooking? Is it at all possible to simply USE my tablet properly without having to go out and buy Windows XP Tablet Edition?

You can get Recovery Discs from IBM is the built in Recovery partition and utility are not longer on the laptop from IBM/Lenovo by going here: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-4M7HWZ

If the Recovery Partition is still intact and accessible you can return to Windows XP Tablet Edition by following these instructions: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-4UFUYK

Looking at the downloads I don't see a driver for the Touch Screen: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-67100
When you ran the System Update utility you installed all the drivers and software/accessories updates?

Hi there I just purchased Carbon X1 touch screen version for less than a week and all of a sudden I found out the touch screen was not working any more. I checked the system property and it shows "No pen or touch input is available for this display". That's totally wierd because when the time I received this product it worked very well.  I also checked the device manager. It shows "Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45)To fix this problem, reconnect this hardware device to the computer."I tried almost every method mentioned about touch screen malfunction and none of them worked. I even refresh this laptop and this issue still exists.  Could some one here help me figure out this problem? Hi all,
I just bought a new Dell Inspiron 7537 with full HD touch screen / 16gb ram / 1tb hdd / Nvidia GT750 and this laptop is just lovely, though I dont suffer from the usual wifi issue, I did changed the wifi card into 7260 AC model and it does fly! got it for 28$ off ebay.
Anyway, there's only 1 thing that bother me much, right after the initial setup, I've run through the updates and after restart I noticed that I've lost the touch support function. Even when checked on the PC and Devices info page, suddenly doesnt state my laptop has touch support. I've been through the net for many days looking for drivers and this issue but none came close to my case.
The monitor driver stated as generic PNP monitor? and I couldnt find any compatible driver for it. I've look at control panel setting and there is no option for pen / touch input too.
Not sure where and what went wrong. Attached is 2 print screen of my system. For security reason, I've cropped the product ID. Should there is someone from Dell require those, I'd be happy to send private message with all the details.
For my part, I've done all diagnosed with dell website + software but keep saying my system is correct and no problem with anything. Though I dont really fancy of using the touch screen, it would be nice to know that my laptop has it and its working.

Many thanks

Answer:Lost Touch Screen Function on Inspiron 7537

Hi,
I am a Dell Inspiron 7537 user and also encountering the same touchscreen problem plus the wifi would sometimes go on and off (based on the wifi icon).
I already contacted the Dell tech support via chat and unfortunately, I would have to return the laptop to Best Buy for replacement or repair. The problem is I live in the Philippines and Dell does not have any tech support here.
The problem only started when Dell and Microsoft sent me software auto updates a few weeks back.
Are there any updates regarding the issue?

I just reformatted my pc. After I installed all drivers, I realized that I also needed to install the driver for my NEC MultiSync LCD1560V+ Touch Screen Monitor. So I went to NEC's website and installed the driver. This driver is not an exe. file. Instead, it's a zip. file that contains 3 system files (see attached).

I am thinking I might have installed this driver incorrectly. I just clicked the Cat file and installed the certificate.

Right now, I can my monitor to view but the touching function is not working, forcing me to use a mouse for control. Can anyone Help me fix this problem?? thank you!

I have a Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga laptop with a pen and touch screen. When writing it detects pressure on the screen even if the pen is not touching. This leads to all words and characters being joined with feint streaks (or large ones if the software doesn't do pressure). I don't know if this is a hardware issue or if the pen and touch is just poor, but it means that any notes I make are often very hard to read. This is an example of the issue:

I think this could be fixed by adding a 5-10% deadzone to the stylus, so that the pressure reads as 0 unless it goes beyond that threshold. This is often used for joysticks and analogue sticks to prevent erroneous inputs.

Does anyone know how to do this?

Thanks!

Answer:How do I add a pressure dead zone to pen and touch?

Resistive touch or Capacitive Touch? A soft flexible overlay usually means resistive touch, and hard gorilla glass means capacitive.
Original stylus or purchased separately? Fine tip or nubby tip?

It is all too easy to tap on the wrong portion or think that the tap hasn't worked and tap again which then leads you goodness knows where. One tip I can give is let the page settle down before tapping, make sure all of the ads have loaded, you need patience.

According to Microsoft on this site.... http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-8/multitouch-hardware-reqs "....If you have touch input hardware that isn't specifically designed for Windows 8 or Windows 8.1, but displays the "Designed for Windows" logo for Windows 7, you'll experience touch responsiveness at least as good as it was on Windows 7...." Based on that, I upgraded my Lenovo X201 Tablet with Windows 7 (kept up to date with Lenovo's System update, and windows update, and working well), and lost the touch screen and pen abilities completely. In system manager I have an unknown device, but no Wacom device in Human Interface Devices; and in control panel I don't have either "Pen and Touch", or "Tablet PC Settings". I tried installing the W7 drivers from the Lenovo site in Windows 7 compatibility mode, and it displayed the error "No supported tablet was found". Having failed the upgrade, I proceeded to do a clean install, and had exactly the same result. Must clarify the update was to Windows 8 Pro, then all windows and Lenovo updates, and the upgrading to 8.1 from the store, and all windows and Lenovo updates again. So I'm dumbfounded. If I lost the touch ability as advertised at least as good as it was on Windows 7...., I will go back to Windows 7. I posted this on the Microsoft site, and the Microsoft Engineer said that this happens when the hardware was not realy designed for Windows 7 ... There's a plethora of issues that users reported on newer (X220/230) tablets as well since they were not designed for W8 either...

In my book, no OS in the world is worth such aggravation, but to each his/hers own.

Good luck.

Hi

I've just acquired a Satellite R10-101 Laptop/Tablet.

The machine did not come with a touch pen so I am unsure if the touch screen is working or not.

When the machine is in tablet mode the touch screen does not respond to any touch with a finger. I have tried a pointing device from a hand held Windows CE device that has a touch screen but this does not work on the R10's touch screen.

Does the touch screen need to be enabled or do I need to obtain a Toshiba Touch Pen?

The machine is running Windows XP Tablet Edition. Will I get the same functionally if I upgrade to Windows 7. Is the R10's hardware compatible with Win 7?

Thanks for any help or advice.

Joe

Answer:Satellite R10-101: touch screen does not respond in tablet mode

Hi

The display panel works as a touch sensitive digitizer screen.
You need the Tablet Pen in order to use the touch display in tablet mode.

I think that you can order the missing tablet pen from Toshiba authorized service partner in your country or google for the part numbers: P000407550 or P000445420

I have not been able to use the touch screen functions for about a month now.  When you use your finger to select something on the screen it goes to the desktop and will not select the item you touched.  The only way the touch screen works is with the pen.  Also the screen will not rotate when you flip the screen into tablet mode.  I check for any new updates but the system is up to date.  This is driving me crazy as I need to have the touch screen working right for my business programs the are installed.

I have a basic model of the YOGA 300 (11 BY).  Due to size limitations of the eMMC drive, I couldn't upgrade to windows 10 (not enough disk space). So I downloaded the windows 10 installer/ISO to a 32gb SD Card, and upgraded from there.. actually (probably a mistake in retrospect) I did a clean install.. Windows 10 runs with no problems, and I downloaded./installed all the Lenovo drivers for windows 10 for this machine. Unfortunately I now have two issues: 1. When I flip the screen into tablet mode, the laptop doesn't seem to realise, and so I don't get the auto-tablet mode that I would expect? 2. Even with all the Lenovo drivers for this machine installed, I do not get any touch-screen response at all.. only mouse driven. Any help would be appreciated. P.S:  Anyone with the same version of YOGA 300 with an eMMC who wish to gain more drive space?  You can buy a cheap USB 3.0 slimline USB disk (because the SD Card sticks out a bit) and create a VHD which gives you a second "real drive"... this was particularlly useful when wanting to store my dropbox/onedrive sync locations!

Good day. I purchased a manufacturer refurbished ThinkPad X220t  with warranty for one year. The laptop came with a factory seal. When I turn on a notebook,  the operating system(win 7 Prof 64bit) automatically install. At the end of installation in device manager  all devices have been identified and worked fine.  But in computer details in the "system" was written ?No Pen or Touch Input is available for this display?. Then I installed all the drivers on a laptop from Lenovo website again and again. That did not help. Then I reinstalled windows (win 7 Prof 32bit). That did not help. Previously, I had two X200t and when I installed windows 7, the digitizer immediately was detected, for the good work of  the touchscreen it was necessary to install drivers. But the situation with the X220 for me incomprehensible. Explain what I did wrong. The type of ThinkPad printed on the back label is 4294-CTR(in BIOS the type is 4294-CTO).

I bought x220 tablet 4 days ago with multitouch (lenovo model number: 4296-2BG). Straight out of the box the touchscreen is not working in approximately 20-25% of the screen surface. The affected area is in one piece on the right-hand side (if looking in regular notebook configuration), however the most of the edges of the screen work. The touch works correctly at other parts of the screen, but on this part there are spots where I never managed to make the touch and there are spots where only sporadically and randomly I can make the touch work. The problem can be repeated no matter if the computer works on battery or on AC, no matters if it is in tablet or in notebook configuration, and no matter what the program you use. It is most clearly seen in Paint - drawing by finger goes well until you get to the part of the screen when abruptly stops and only continues when you get to the healthy part of the screen.  I spent 2 days of trying to get it wok by- calibrating touch screen- turning on and off the touch ability- trying to tweak the touch through built-in properties- installing the newest drivers from lenovo- installing the newest drivers from wacom- cleaning the screen surface with the little cleaning tissue that comes along- turning on and off wifi, bluetooth, camera, and virtually everything I could turn on/off By the way, the system is in the vanilla state - I did not install anything on it (except new drivers for touch). Just made the 'recovery disk'... Read more

Why you don?t use the Toshiba recovery CD?
The CD contains a image with OS, drivers, tools, utilities and the whole system was already configured.

However, I assume you have a Windows XP.
On the Toshiba European driver page you can find all necessary drivers.

I have checked the drivers for the Windows XP table edition and found

- Tablet PC Button Driver
- Tablet Pack

ello,I bought the latest and greatest X200 tablet, with a Multi Touch screen and all the trimmings, I was excited to change from a long family of T thinkpads (owned T20, T30, T40,T42, T61) and change to the long-awaited tablet. I prefer to write in bullets to cut to the chase: -paid for the computer the last days of October2008-computer delivered ONE MONTH LATER November 20th, already devaluated-in May 09, a problem started: every time you turned on the computer, the cursor moved on it's own erratically all over the screen, clicking on everything here and there on its own for a few seconds until Windows would "stop the process"-I had purchased On-Site service, but when I called, Lenovo argued vehemently that I had not purchased it and demanded I send the machine to fix on the box they sent.-They sent the machine back a week later WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. The wire they claim to have changed did not fix it.-I found my original invoice and noticed I HAD purchased On-Site service-I called support; they apologized and said a service person would come "next week"-That week passed and nobody came. I called again, disappointed.-A guy called Jamie xxxxxx promised I would be up and running really soon. He apologized again. This time someone would definitely come ?next week?-Next week someone came, with 3 boxes. He took my computer apart, breaking the hinge in the process, and then noticed none of the 3 boxes had a correct part. Another apology, still have a broken computer.... Read more

Since I upgraded from 7 to 10 my Vistablet has stopped working. I can use the tablet and operate my machine with it but it has no pressure sensitivity on any software, rendering it useless to me as an artist. I think the company has gone bust since their website has disappeared. There are drivers floating around online but after multiple reinstalls, restarts, tweaking windows settings, playing with task manager, I'm getting desperate. I'm unconvinced that the drivers I installed via a simple setup file actually installed anything - I don't think I can see any tablet drivers running in processes (other than User Mode Tablet Driver, which sounds like a built in Windows thing).

I really need this for my work. Can anyone help me? Can I find the raw driver files inside the setup folder and install them manually?

Answer:Vistablet 12" Original Tablet No Pressure Sensitivity

I am embarrassed to have solved my own thread only 15 minutes after creating it but not everyone will be as lucky as I am. I forgot that I obsessively save every single setup file I ever use for anything and decided to have a dig through to see if I could find an old driver for this tablet. By some miracle I recognised a file literally called "20121011_Driver V5.00" not remotely vistablet-related - but it seemed familiar, and indeed it was the right driver.
I don't know if this file is online anywhere else at the moment but I put it here on mediafire if anyone has the same ancient but working tablet as me and wants to use it again for Windows 10.

My ENVY m6-AQ003 x360 touch screen function clicks itself. It clicks really fast in a straight vertical line. I havn't used it in a couple days so when I turned it on and it started clicking my first thought was the mouse was acting up or the touch pad. so I unplugged the mouse and restarted the computer. It continued to do it after the restart so I tried to turn off the touchpad. But the screen kept clicking before I could. Although it has stopped after i played around with it. It seems to keep doing it from time to time a few clicks. I know it is the touch screen function after I realized that the touch screen makes circles where you click and the mouse and touch pad don't. I hope there is a quick fix so I dont' have this problem when I travel in a few days.

I don?t have this notebook model and cannot help you about it but it must be described in user?s manuals document.
I also saw that this notebook has preinstalled TouchScreen Software. Play a bit with it and in worst case try to reinstall it. On Australian download page for your notebook model you can find version 2.01.0020.

I recently purchased a X201 Model 2985F4U.  It has the multi-touch Wacom Penabled display.  I know the display is pressure sensitive, but the driver does not seem to support it out of the box.  Is there an alternative driver out there?  I need both features.  I'm a Software Engineer that works on Multi-touch applications but I also do sketching of prototypes.  I need Photoshop to read the pressure.  This was my sole reason for getting this model. I've read some posts in the past about X200 having to use multiple manufacturers drivers such as Fujitsu and Wacom Bamboo.  I'm about to experiment with that if necessary.  I would rather have a driver that Lenovo Supports though.

Answer:X201 with Multi-touch. Why no pressure sensitivity on Pen?

I share your pain.  When I first purchased my x201T tablet, I tried a Wacom Bamboo driver that was recommended by a tablet review website and was supposed to enable pressure sensitivity.  Once the driver was installed, the multitouch completely stopped working.  I uninstalled that driver, and then to my dismay, both the multitouch and the pen stopped working.  I then downloaded and reinstalled the default driver from Lenovo and both multitouch and pen input were re-enabled (though still without pressure sensitivity, and upon the re-installation, when using multitouch, a virtual mouse image appeared on the screen.  After reviewing several books on Windows 7, I finally found one that explained how to turn off this virtual mouse, which is called a "touch pointer" in Windows 7 and can be toggled off by selecting "Pen and Touch" from the Control Panel and un-checking the "Show the touch pointer when I'm interacting with items on the screen".  Since holding a finger against the screen for a few seconds is equivalent to a right-click, I prefer not to have the touch pointer visible).  This all took several hours (I'm not an "IT" person and don't have much confidence when it comes to installing drivers), but if anyone has found a specific solution that works, I'd be interested.

I recently bough an Asus VivoTab Smart running windows 8 and everything was fine up until today when at some point the touch keyboard stopped disappearing whenever i needed to log in to the tablet! its annoying to have to find the on-screen keyboard and
i would like to have the touch keyboard back.

I have tried restarting many times and that does nothing, i have tried updating the driver but i cant as it says that it already has the driver up to date and that its running properly!

Any help is appreciated! thank you,

Answer:Windows 8 tablet touch keyboard DISAPPEARED from login screen!

I don't know if this will help you but it solved a similar problem I had on my Windows 8 touch PC:
If you are able to reach the Start/app tile screen or desktop and from there "view local services" which you can find by typing "services" in the Start screen scroll down the list until you come to the "Touch Keyboard and Handwriting Panel Service" which
should say "Automatic (triggered)" and "Running"
From there "right-click" that service (or otherwise get into its properties), click the "Log On" Tab, click the first option under "Log on as:" (circle button "Local System account") and make sure to Check box "Allow service to interact with desktop"
For me this box somehow became unchecked when I "Refreshed" my windows 8 to solve another issue. Once I checked the box, the keyboard started to reappear at the login screen.

I am new to tablets and have seen people handwrite notes on an ipad and the ipad changes their writing into type and either stores it as a note or uses it to fill in blanks in a form. How do I do this with a Windows 10 based touch screen. I am using a Dell Inspiron 2-in-1 in tablet mode.

Answer:How do I get a Windows 10 based touch screen tablet to recognize handwriting?

Just tried Word and Notepad, you bring up the on screen keyboard and then click on the picture of a keyboard on the bottom right, where you choose what type of keyboard you want and choose the text input one, and scratch away. I admit I use a Surface Pro 3 with a pen.
OneNote will also work this way but may have other ways to do it.

Hi everyone, I have a Lenovo X220 Tablet that has touch screen and pen. They suddenly stopped working today. The LCD screen still works pefectly fine, however. The touch screen is enabled on the touch settings. When I try to calibrate, it does not detect my finger or the pen. I also noticed that when I tried to reinstall the driver and it said "a supported tablet was not found on this system". I have the most recent bios. I am running Windows 7 that came with the laptop. All windows updates completed. Is it possible for the digitizer to be defective, but the LCD screen to work perfectly fine?Could it be just a ribbon failure?Which part would need to be replaced, if this is the case? Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

Answer:X220 tablet touch screen suddenly stopped working

Even though it looks like a single device, it is really 3 separate ones.  There is a basic panel.  There is a static discharge digitizer in the front to sense finger touches.  There is a second Wacom digitizer behind the panel to detect the pen.  Any of them can fail.  The wires in the cable can also crack.  Since both digitizers failed, I would first look in device manager to see if there could be a problem with a USB hub.  (digitizers both connect as USB devices.)  My next guess would be the cable.  Sorry I cannot be more definite.

Hi all,First of all, I am a new member on the Lenovo Community forums... so hello everybody! :-)  I have heard a lot of great things in terms of members getting the advice, assistance, and information they need to solve their technical problems on these forums. Hopefully someone will have feedback on my problem(s) as well! I purchased a Lenovo X220 Tablet in December '11, and I have been more than happy with it. Recently, though, a few problems have arised. 1) One of the VGA screws (left) fell off. My hypothesis is that when this product was manufacturered, it was loosed. I had a presentation last month and used a VGA connector. Perhaps the screw got caught in the connector?  Image Link: http://s17.postimage.org/b9w48twbh/photo_1.jpg 2) Rubber hinges, one fell off... the other slowly chipping away. It was miniscule, so I didn't want to make a fuss of it. Answer:X220 Tablet -- Pieces falling off and pressure spot on LCD, warranty?

Depot turnaround time from getting the box to receiving your unit is usually a week. I'm currently in the middle of a service request (my thrid one in a month!) so I'm thoroughly familiar with their process. I've heard that the screen spots were manufacturing defects so when you do send yours in don't be afraid to escalate your case. The keyboard bezel tabs are poorly designed in my opinion, all of my friends' X220Ts' tabs fell off after a while. Mine stayed on because I babied my laptop until I had my unit sent in to the service depot where the technicians there broke it off (why I have my unit there again, apart from another major issue). As for your VGA screw, not so sure... I never used the screw for safety purposes; in case someone trips over the cable, the cable will just disconnect instead of taking the whole laptop with it. It's probably just a standard screw/stand off that you can buy.

I have Photoshop CS6 installed on my U530.  I want to use the U530 touchscreen to 'paint' with Photoshop using my fingers on the touchscreen.Photoshop does not recognize the touchscreen movements as input, thus I cannot 'paint' with the paintbrush tool.I understand that Photoshop requires a specific type of touchscreen driver to interact with the program for pressure sensitivity and such. Photoshop is different from other programs in that respect, and I know that sometimes installing a different driver will allow the functionality. That process is done with Wacom tablets sometimes - updating to the Wacom driver instead of the standard/original driver. Is there a driver available that will allow the touchscreen to work with Photoshop on the U530?- also, I do not see the specific name of the touchscreen device in device manager, if you know which device the touchscreen is named, that would help me some.Thank youIs there a driver available that will allow the touchscreen to work with Photoshop on the U530?
