I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I bought x220 tablet 4 days ago with multitouch (lenovo model number: 4296-2BG). Straight out of the box the touchscreen is not working in approximately 20-25% of the screen surface. The affected area is in one piece on the right-hand side (if looking in regular notebook configuration), however the most of the edges of the screen work. The touch works correctly at other parts of the screen, but on this part there are spots where I never managed to make the touch and there are spots where only sporadically and randomly I can make the touch work. The problem can be repeated no matter if the computer works on battery or on AC, no matters if it is in tablet or in notebook configuration, and no matter what the program you use. It is most clearly seen in Paint - drawing by finger goes well until you get to the part of the screen when abruptly stops and only continues when you get to the healthy part of the screen.  I spent 2 days of trying to get it wok by- calibrating touch screen- turning on and off the touch ability- trying to tweak the touch through built-in properties- installing the newest drivers from lenovo- installing the newest drivers from wacom- cleaning the screen surface with the little cleaning tissue that comes along- turning on and off wifi, bluetooth, camera, and virtually everything I could turn on/off By the way, the system is in the vanilla state - I did not install anything on it (except new drivers for touch). Just made the 'recovery disk'... Read more

I've been tasked to purchase an external touch monitor for use the the x220 running Tablet PC for XP but the monitor specs typically show "Windows Vista/Win7" supported. Will any touch monitor correctly work with this OS? Any recommendations?

Answer:External Touch Screen for use with x220 running Tablet PC for XP

Hello,
I would imagine you would need to find a touch-enabled screen that has device drivers for Microsoft Windows XP available for it.

Good day. I purchased a manufacturer refurbished ThinkPad X220t  with warranty for one year. The laptop came with a factory seal. When I turn on a notebook,  the operating system(win 7 Prof 64bit) automatically install. At the end of installation in device manager  all devices have been identified and worked fine.  But in computer details in the "system" was written ?No Pen or Touch Input is available for this display?. Then I installed all the drivers on a laptop from Lenovo website again and again. That did not help. Then I reinstalled windows (win 7 Prof 32bit). That did not help. Previously, I had two X200t and when I installed windows 7, the digitizer immediately was detected, for the good work of  the touchscreen it was necessary to install drivers. But the situation with the X220 for me incomprehensible. Explain what I did wrong. The type of ThinkPad printed on the back label is 4294-CTR(in BIOS the type is 4294-CTO).

Answer:X220 Tablet. Not working digitizer and touch screen. Help!

Hi everyone, I have a Lenovo X220 Tablet that has touch screen and pen. They suddenly stopped working today. The LCD screen still works pefectly fine, however. The touch screen is enabled on the touch settings. When I try to calibrate, it does not detect my finger or the pen. I also noticed that when I tried to reinstall the driver and it said "a supported tablet was not found on this system". I have the most recent bios. I am running Windows 7 that came with the laptop. All windows updates completed. Is it possible for the digitizer to be defective, but the LCD screen to work perfectly fine?Could it be just a ribbon failure?Which part would need to be replaced, if this is the case? Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

Answer:X220 tablet touch screen suddenly stopped working

Even though it looks like a single device, it is really 3 separate ones.  There is a basic panel.  There is a static discharge digitizer in the front to sense finger touches.  There is a second Wacom digitizer behind the panel to detect the pen.  Any of them can fail.  The wires in the cable can also crack.  Since both digitizers failed, I would first look in device manager to see if there could be a problem with a USB hub.  (digitizers both connect as USB devices.)  My next guess would be the cable.  Sorry I cannot be more definite.

Hey to everyone. I have a question since lenovo seems to lack on a informations when it comes to this. I bought a used X220 and cant identify if it should be multitouch or pen input only model. Screen part number is (according to lenovo page):04W3462Model Number is 42962WUTouchscreen with finger doesnt work ( if it has any).I dont have a pen (stylus) currently since it was not provided with laptop BUT:Windows in properties says : No pen or touch input is available for this display .Reinstalled windows freshly twice along with drivers (once manually downloaded , second time used Lenovo System update)Still says the same, and there is no tablet or pen and touch settings in control panel. In some other topics , someone suggested to similar problem as a solution installing wacom pen drivers, lenovo digitizer drivers etc.Tried provided drivers , and with every driver throws the same error : a supported tablet was not found on the systemMaybe it has to detect pen near the laptop and it should be fine?Did I just got ripped off? Thanks a bunch!

Ok, so the lcd is definitely multitouch , which is now a reason to concern .Basically , windows recognize it as a laptop, no hid touch input devices in device manager whatsoever. Is this a common issue? Tryed unpluging and plugging back in LCD micro cables but nothing.

I was previously running Windows 8 Preview and did not have any problems with the touch screen.  I have tried two separate clean installs of Windows 8 Pro, and the only thing that will not work is the touch screen with my finger.  The pen still works, but not the finger touch.  The driver installation for both the pen and the multitouch fails with and error saying "A supported tablet was not found on the system." Help Please.

My X220 tablet comes with pen and limited touch support with 2 touch points. I have no issues on windows 7 but on windows 8.1 it has changed to be working with only 1 touch point since some time that I don't remember exactly when. So that I can work with one finger only and 2-finger functions such as pinch to zoom are unavailable. My drivers are all uptodate. I think I should completely uninstall the related driver before reinstalling but don't know how to procede and couldn't find the solution. I tried uninstalling all HIDs through Device manager and one-by-one, specifically wacom device. when I uninstall it, I lose touch option completely. but reinstalling through Device Manager sounds like recovering exactly the previous faulty condition. Maybe there is a conflict with windows 8.1 like Microsoft Input Configuration Device which might be unlikely.  So is there any other way to have full wipe and clean reinstall of those touch screen drivers? I appreciate it if you put links to the drivers for me, if they are not available on Lenovo Support. Tell me if you had the same touch issue in Windows 8.1  and how you solved it. Thanks

Hi, I have been baffled by this issue for quite a while now. I have a lenovo X220 tablet that supports both finger and pen inputs for touch. Originally this laptop came with windows 7 and everything was fine and dandy. I then bought windows 8/8.1 Pro 64-bit and did a clean installation of it. Now I only have pen support for the touchscreen, i.e. my finger is recognized as a pen/mouse not a finger which is really frustrating specially when scrolling. Now before I actually purchased the win8 license I had tried out the windows 8 release preview and everything worked perfectly then. So now when I got the actual release of the OS its not. Furthermore I currently have a dual-boot set up with windows 10 technical preview as my other OS and in there it also works perfectly fine as it should. This is important because when I contacted lenovo about the issue they suggested that my screen was broken, but clearly it is not.  Can anyone shed some light on this issue? It is a real shame not to be able to take advantage of this fine screen and windows 8 touch friendlyness.  Kind regards.

Hey buddies, just wondering if anyone can help me on this issue, it is about the touch of the screen with the pen, when i change the screen display to secondary landscape, or primary portrait or secondary portrait, the pen will make the mouse on the screen inverted, like when the pen goes up the mouse goes down , (same situation for the left to right) this invert problem seems to happen only in those three modes but not in primary mode, any ideas on how to fix it? pls reply

I know its quite abstract to ask this... but if anyone has this info, write in percentage. Gorilla Glass - 100% of resistanceInfinity Glass -  ???% of resistance The "why" for this dilemma: Gorilla Glass version:- sunny places like Brazil (and eventually, parks, huge lines, work events) will fit well to the outdoor view feature (I work with architectural projects and sometimes I must be at the building site to give some advices... often I had to instruct without the roof ready)- resistance enough against mild levels of clumsiness (drop to the ground, accidental beatups at slim backpacks, etc)- no fingerprints (Im a little neurotic with those things) Infinity Glass version:- I loved the multi-gesture (tested on Ipad)- excellent to browse webpages, comics, general images, etc very accessible and quick instead picking the pen every time (this case would be more for pleasure rather for work)- the real changes of the outdoor screen with this isnt much far... still possible to look on it at the shade (like on a bus with big windows or just something with enough roof to cover the sun spot)  The big answer will come depending on how fragile it is... I remember to read some people at forums complaining about how fragile it was and how easily broke with a simple fall.   Thanks for reading. ps: if any of you guys have an idea of what suits better me, feel free to write.

I have installed Windows 8.1 Professional on on a Lenovo X220 Tablet and everything seems to have installed correctly, although my system, which supported limited touch with 2 touch points in Windows 7, only has Pen Support in 8.1. I have been able to get the system to be recognized as "Pen and Limited Touch Support with 2 Touch Points" but only if I disable/unintall the Intel HD 3000 driver, and use Microsoft Basic Display Adapter instead.  The problem is that the resolution isn't as crisp.   Any recommendations as to what I can do to get the limted touch to be recognized with the Intel HD 3000 driver?  This one is baffling.   Any help would be appreciated.  The X220 Tablet's type is 4296-2WU Also, the Intel HD Graphics 3000 driver is the latest version compatible with 8.1 64bit - 9.17.10.3517. Update: I have also tried the previous Intel driver release, 9.17.10.3347, as well as the recommend Intel driver from the support page 9.17.10.2843 and non of them allow my screen to do Limited Touch Support with 2 Touch Points.  Yet, if I disable the Intel driver, and restart, I can.

Answer:X220 Tablet and Windows 8.1 - Limited Touch drops with Intel HD 3000 is installed?

Troy,

Thanks for sharing your expeirences and the details of the driver version.

Officially, I don't think Lenovo provided full support for Win 8 on the X220, but as you note it (and the upgrade to 8.1) can work with some limitations.   I'll check with one of our software engineers to see if he may have some suggestions on this one.

I expect you will probably draw some responses from the community as the X220 was a very popular system with a good following.

Best regards,

Performed a clean install of Win8 on x220 Tablet with brand new SSD (not an upgrade). The Start Menu GUI displays 'random touch glitches' (those highlights that appear when you actually touch the screen), which are invoking random apps. This is not happening on the desktop mode. Ran the Lenovo System Updater which provided a number of drivers but did not correct this issue. Then I installed the latest Wacom Windows 8 driver for Tablet PC but still this has not corrected the appearance of these random touch glitches. Anyone encounter this and find a fix? Okay, so I have a Toshiba M700 tablet.
Ever since I got it, if i close the display when its not in standby, the mouse pointer moves around, as if its detecting the Wacom Stylus, and selects stuff, clicks on it, etc.

It doesn't do it if I turn the display around to put it in tablet form, so it doesn't affect operation much, but if I do close it and walk away, it tends to get annoying if i close it and walk away for a minute.

Mind you, if i disable the tablet sensors, via the device manager, it doesn't do this, so its not a virus, remote desktop, etc.

It changes to the cursor that it uses (that little cross-hair-ish dot thing) for the Wacom Stylus, so its detecting some sort of radio interference from something and that's registering as clicks and movement. Wondering if anyone has any ideas on this.

I've had some issues for a long time where my laptop will would just shut down - no reboot, no warning, no error messages.  I updated all drivers, performed some background cleanup, but nothing seemed to resolve it.  It has been especially bad in the last week. But I think I have found the problem and thought I would share.  It's static electricity.  I ran some tests and confirmed it - repeatly.  I have one spot on the arm of a couch that I can intentionaly make the laptop shut down, without even physically touching it.  The final test of my theory was to always have the laptop on a plastic laptop cooling pad - and I have not a a single shut down since.  I then began to realize that the shut down events never happened while at a desk or counter.  I have had it happen while walking across the room with laptop in hand, but suspect that too was the result of static electricity. I have read piles of reviews, forums, and opinions and even though I've seen some notes about static, most did not conclude it as the primary issue and many even returned the laptops for service. It seems that there is a weekness in the laptop's ability to handle a static shock, and I am assuming from my tests that the weakness is from the bottom of the laptop.  I took off the ram cover and see the way it is made and grounded to the machine, so I'm not sure why it would jump through there.  The other possibility is the docking port, but agai... Answer:X220 tablet random reboot solved - reason discovered, I think

Hi; I'm seeing a similar problem with an X220.  This is the way that I can almost guarantee a reboot.  If I wheel around a little in my office chair, then touch the laptop it will reboot.  If I wheel around then touch something grounded I get a little shock. Strangly, friends with laptops aren't enthusiastic for me to try touching their laptops after scooting around in my chair to test if this is a particular weakness with the X220 (or specifically my X220). Does an antistatic mat help?  The laptop is connected with a VGA cable and power cable so I'm not sure the mat would do much?

My ENVY m6-AQ003 x360 touch screen function clicks itself. It clicks really fast in a straight vertical line. I havn't used it in a couple days so when I turned it on and it started clicking my first thought was the mouse was acting up or the touch pad. so I unplugged the mouse and restarted the computer. It continued to do it after the restart so I tried to turn off the touchpad. But the screen kept clicking before I could. Although it has stopped after i played around with it. It seems to keep doing it from time to time a few clicks. I know it is the touch screen function after I realized that the touch screen makes circles where you click and the mouse and touch pad don't. I hope there is a quick fix so I dont' have this problem when I travel in a few days.

This just started this morning.  I noticed that if I left a browser window open for a while (particularly with a white background with black text), when I minimize the window, I can see a faint image of it left behind that fairly quickly (at least for now) fades away on it's own.

I turned off the machine, unplugged all the batteries and the power.  Checked and cleaned all the connections and vents.  Then powered it back up on just main battery (has nearly a full charge) played with brightness just a bit.  At first it wasn't repeating the problem but quickly it's showing up again and I am extremely concerned.

I am still under warranty.  Please advise.  Thank you in advance - best regards.

Answer:Lenovo X220 Tablet (screen just startedshowing signs of screen memory burn in...)

Updated Info:  Problem only happens on the edges of the screen, a little less than an inch in from any edge, top/bottom/left/right and the problem may appear, but anything in the middle and it seems fine.

Doesn't happen if my background is set to solid black.  It's slightly noticeable with a mid-grey tone and it's worse still with a mid to dark grey tone that is tinted with a purple-ish hue.

Could some other x220 owners set their bg color to a dark grey purple color, and try to see if it's just a limitation.  I'm trying to determine if my hardware is failing, or if I just stumbled upon something that for most cases and purposes isn't going to be much of a bother.

Other than recently calibrating my touch and pen input, I haven't made any changes to the system.  Today I installed a new intel graphics driver update from Win update but it didn't change anything.

Thank you all very much.

The Thinkpad Tablet and the X220t are two different devices. Regarding your problem, I fear that the boot sector is defective. You'll probably have to reinstall Windows.

We are having some issues with the pen touch when getting closer to the edge of the screen. The little dot-guide loses accuracy around the edges, making it frustrating to adjust clicks. Another issue is the pen gets shaky when you are closer to the edge of the screen as well. Example - it is impossibleto draw a straight line when you get closer to the screen (OneNote). We had a Toshiba Portege previously and we never had these issues. I apoligize if this is redudndant but i would like a solution. I have a client that says the little circles that come up every time he touches the screen is giving him a headache.  Does anyone know how to shutoff the response of the pen each time it touches the screen,  but still have the pen work? Thanks.

Answer:X220 Pen touch on screen: How to disable the circles that show when the pen has touched the screen

You need to disable the cricles that appaers after touching the screen, there is no such option, I would suggest you to please perform the workarounds.

1.To remove fingerprints, etc., from the touch panel display, use a dry, soft, lint-free cloth or a piece of absorbent cotton. Do not apply solvents to the cloth.2. Gently wipe foreign particles and dust from the touch panel with one side of the cloth.3. Wipe smudges or fingerprints with the other side of the cloth, or with a clean cloth.4. After using the cloth, wash it with a neutral detergent.

After this, please check if the issue resolved.

Regards,
Sameer

The screen on my X220 Tablet has been shutting down when I rotate it from tablet to laptop positions when "Auto Rotate is enabaled.. When this happens, the only way I've found to get the screen back is to shut down and reboot.(Note: the backlight stays on, but the screen is blank and unresponsive.)I've found that by resetting the tablet utility options to "ActiveRotate" only ("Auto  Rotate" off) it seems to work.I guess it's not a big deal, but I hate it when things don't work. Any suggestions as to why, or better yet, how to fix?

Answer:X220 Tablet Screen shuts down when rotated

Hi, Jetsyfix

I'm not sure what is causing the issue, but a driver update may help. Here you can find all the possible driver updates for your system. There is a fairly recent BIOS update for your machine that may help, but I would update all drivers as needed and see if it helps.

Best of luck,
Adam

The two small rubber latches that hold the screen in place when closed have broken off my tablet. My tablet has warranty until 2015 and it hasn't been used heavily, Lenovo have said these aren't covered by the warranty. Does anyone know where I can get some replacements? The frontoffice said they come as part of 04W1783-rubber kit but when I called up the parts hotline they said it was not in that pack. Its driving me mad because the screen slides about all over the place... ANy help much appreciated

Yeah, I would like to know too. One of mine is ripped in half and the other fell off at an airport...

Ok, I just got my screen in x220 tablet replaced. When I first usued it, I noticed that the new screen is now "rubbery" - there is no protective foil, but it just feels like there is some plastic cover over the screen, not the actual glass. Previously, the pen used to run smoothly over the screen - just like it does over glass. Now I can tell that the screen is covered in a platci/ rubber transparent layer - invisible but one you can feel by your hand or especially by the stylus. Now I want to ask you for something really silly - can you touch yours x220 tablet screen and tell me whether you feel the rubber coating or a glass? :-) I might be out of my mind, but I swear the feeling was different before. The screen that was replaced comes from the Lenovo service (repair was done under warranty) - maybe I got a screen from a different model (eg. x230?).

Hi, I just notice now I have a crack on the screen on my gf's x220t. She and I NEVER droped it, NEVER put pressure on the screen, NEVER put any sort of heavy objects on the laptop.  The crack is small (about 1 cm), very thin, it's hard to see but can be felt very easy when using the digitizer. Her computer also gets alot of thermal sensor failure at the begining of the boot (which can be fix by removing the battery and going into the BIOS). Can I get some help from lenovo STAFF on this. This is a 1300$ laptop. Please be resonable and don't tell me I've used it too hard. There could be a way to verify that the laptop didnt go through severe conditions and that it's a default in fabrication... Otherwise lenovos screen are made out of very cheap material. We both have a model 4294CTO x220 tablet I also made a quick video which can be found on this URL http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yXOfVnAcYQY  Moderator Note: Edited subject to match content.

Answer:x220 tablet scratch/crack (about 1 cm, very thin) on the screen

this forum doesn't have a dedicated staff to personally troubleshoot issues.   everyone here (staff included) is here purely on a volunteer basis.   first and foremost this is a peer-to-peer forum.

with that said...

unless you have the gorilla glass model (non-multitouch), your X220T's display is polycarbonate.   based on your video, it looks like it could be a scratch in the writing surface rather than a crack, especially being along the horizontal plane and parallel with the pixel grid.   cracks tend to be more random where scratches happen most often along the X or Y plane.

have you called lenovo support about this or the thermal sensor errors?

Hello, I would like to know if the outer clear part that goes on top of the screen is the same on the tablet as on the non tablet, or does the tablet have a different surface because of the pen.  I ask because as this is not supplied with replacement screens and I need this part also as its cracked.  I have seen a whole screen assembly for sale which is off the non tablet version so was hoping this would be suitable, of course I would swap over the wacom digitizer from the rear of the broken screen. Can these be ordered separately? if so is there a part number? Thanks.

Answer:X220 tablet screen outer plexiglass surface

The multitouch version of the tablet is certainly different. The outer "glass" is actually the capacitive discharge digitizer (finger touch). Pen-touch is handled by a different digitized behind the LCD panel

I want to know what to do? Call for lennovo? Cause I am a student, I need my tablet to do some work, I want to know how long and how much to repair it. thanks.

Answer:Thinkpad Tablet X220 the upper glass of screen cracked a little

Hi sweetaaronm and welcome to the community,

You're probably going to have to call service to find out how much and how long it will take?  I'd do that anyway, just so you know.  It is going to be expensive.
Is there any computer repair shops locally that you trust?  I'd sit down with the phone book and make some calls.  You're going to have to know which screen you have so you can have them get the right one.

If Lenovo service has the screen in stock, the turnaround for the repair should be pretty fast.

I seem to be getting random stop errors whenever I attach the Ultrabase 3 to my new X220 Tablet.  On several occasions I have also experienced the Optical Drive hanging or loosing connection. W hen I do not have the Ultrabase attached I have not experienced these problems, even when I attach a USB external optical drive.  X220 is a model 4296 37U with 8 Gb ram and I have upgraded the 320 Mb hard drive to a Intel 320 series 600 Gb SSD.  Is anyone else experiencing a similar problem with the Ultrabase with their laptops?

Hello, My Thinkpad Yoga is connected to a large display through ThenkPad docking station.  Its lid is closed.   During my work, from time to time I see random touch clicks on my screen, and random opening of menus.  It is clear that the touch screen is active although the lid is closed.  When I open the lid, and still connected just to the 2nd display (large screen) display the phenomena stops.  Worth noting is that although only the 2nd display shows an image, the laptop touch screen is still sensetive to touch.  This is I guess why the random touches show up on the screen -- it feels the keyboard not fingers. I expect the touch screen to be disabled while the lid is closed or when projecting only to the 2nd screen.  The solution of opening the lid while connected to the docking station is not acceptable.  Lenovo's local support suggestion to disable touch for the Yoga is also not acceptable -- people purchase Yoga to get Touch.   A solution please! Yaron

Ihave owned a Windows 7 X220 Tablet for about 3 years, but never previously ugraded the Lenovo software on it. I saw this was possible, ticked various upgrades and set it off to download and install. On restarting the screen is black - with only a flat white cursor top left. I called Lenovo who said they suspected a bios upgrade had conflicted with something else being installed at the same time (I had ticked multiple upgrades at once), and suggested Ilook and ask for help on the forum. They said they thopught I needed to roll back the bios upgrade but Idon't know how to. I run Trend Micro security suite which was not swithced off when I did the upgrade. Any suggestions at all would be really welcome as the machine is effectively dead and unusable unless I can get it back to the previous set-up. ( Isuspect there are likely to be restore  points but cannot do anything at all at present) Thanks very much    cnwlenovo 15 Feb 2015

Answer:Disaster - X220 tablet - screen black on reboot after installing Lenovo upgrades

Ihave just (after posting this request), and 2 weeks after the failed attempt to get the computer to restart, tried again with the laptop powered onto the mains - it must have completely lost battery power in the meantime, successfully rebooted into Windows, the machine installed Windows upgrqades as it booted, and restarted itself in the process. Iliterally bit my nails as this was going on - and pleased to report the macjine now seems to have opened up OKin windows. Phew!!!      Wonder if the "bad loop"it may have gotten into when Iwas tryoing to reboot several times before - resulting in black screen and white cursor top left - may have died with a complete power down. In any event Iam hugely relieved - so Lenovo upgrades were obviously "self-correcting and troubleshotting after all.... Cnwlenovo 15 February 2015

My HP Pavilion 360 does not switch to tablet in some Roblox games, well to be clear it does pop up the switch to Tablet dialog and touch works but you don't get the touch on-screen controls for moving etc. so it's like somehow the game does not now know that it's a tablet  This is inconsistent as the tablet works in some Roblox games and not others. Has anyone else experienced this and if so how did you fix it? e.g The onscreen controls show and work in Roblox game "Stop it slender 2" but not in Roblox game "prison life"

So years ago I saw the HP TX2510us model and fell in love with it. Even through the overheating and wifi card problems, I was willing to dish out the money and get one...

then life kicked me, hard, and I couldn't afford it.

Now.. I have a little breeze money again. But years have passed, and to a computer, that means a whole new evolutionary phase.

What's out there that is decent and affordable?
I've been seeing ebay sales for the 2510us model for as low as $350 with shipping, I missed out on that deal though by like 1 hour (stupid work!)

What I need it for:
Sketching/Drawing (main reason)
3D sculpting (more drawing programs)
Possible a little gaming (minecraft, maybe some other things like wow-ish, nothing super "high tech')
Music
Youtube
general surfing (under Wireless N speeds, so N is needed)
Touch screen with wacom (because I did my research and wacom is amazing, but a basic pressure-sensitive pen/eraser will work)
Movies (DVD)

Would love it to have 2GHz, 3+GB ram, 100+GB HDD, and a graphics card capible of handling some of the advance pixel shading and such (for graphic reasons, not game reasons)

The TX2510us had this:
Newegg.com - HP Pavilion tx2510us Tablet PC AMD Turion X2 Ultra ZM-80(2.10GHz) 12.1" Wide XGA 3GB Memory 250GB HDD 5400rpm DVD Super Multi ATI Radeon HD 3200

Plus what's not listed is it's pressure sensitive, wacom digitizer, which is the most imporant part.

So... help me find something lik... Read more

hi there, I have an X61 tablet 7767-B7U configured with Vista business and multitouch screen. I am somehow disappointed by the touch screen, pen is ok but touch really needs meto press hard with the finger; if I want to scroll a web page using the finger I have to press so hardyou can almost hear the noise of the finger frictioning on the screen. Is that normal or something is wrong withmy screen? There seems no way to increase sensitivity for touch screen, only calibration whichhelps for precise positioning. This way it is not very usable, so I am ending up only using the pen, which is frustrating as I got the machine also for the finger touch capabilities. Any suggestions? Is this the way is is upposed to be or somethibg is wrong with my unit? thanks in advance!Michelle

I have contacted the company about this and I am waiting on a reply. Would anyone have a solution to this problem? Thanks.

I aquired an HP TX1305US convertable touch tablet. it seems to have some issues with the touch screen. first of all, half the time, the touch doesn't work. anytime i flip the screen around into tablet mode, the pointer goes haywire and when i go back to laptop mode, the pointer is stuck in the corner, and it can't be moved. also, the application toolbar comes up and the only way to fix it is to reboot. i uninstalled the tablet functionality through windows and reinstalled and the problem is still there. additionally, when the touch screen was working, i had to use alot of pressure. i was kind of expecting it to work like an ipod touch or pda. i'm not sure if this could be hardware or software. the laptop has vista ultimate. i checked ho for all the updates and everything should be current. any ideas of what could be the problem?

This is my first post here. I use PSPro for drawing for fun. I use a mouse. Recently I was given a tablet. In theory this is better, as holding a pen is easier than the mouse for drawing. The main problem is that the image is on the laptop screen and the pen is on the plain tablet, so you have to guess where to start drawing by moving the pen around until the cursor is positioned where you want it. The next problem is that I do not want to relearn all the PSP commands (and positions around the edge) on the tablet. The mouse works with the tablet, but putting the pen down to use the mouse is a hassle. There are expensive (around 1000) tablets with a touch screen where you draw on the image, just like a pencil on paper. Too expensive for me. Is there a touch-screen tablet that will work with Paint Shop Pro? What about an Ipad? I dont really know how a touch screen works with a programme liike PSP. Do you just touch the screen in the same place as you would position the cursor? Does a tablet have USB ports so I could save my work on a memory stick, or by cable to the drive in my laptop? I dont know if its possible, but If I could draw on the touch screen and save my work on my laptop, this would be ideal. I hope someone can help. Thanks in advance.

I had to re-install winxp on my x41 tablet. I have an ASUS tablet that I don't know the model nor is it listed anywhere on the tablet. it originally had a detachable keyboard but the guy that gave it to me didn't have it. according to device manager, it has a generic touch screen driver. I have frequent unresponsiveness and sporadic automatic touches a with the touch screen, and I think it may be due to the generic touch screen drivers. If I had the ASUS one, I think it would work better. Device manager reports the hardware ID as: HID\VEN_ATML&DEV_1000&Col01 but no search engine can find it. Google had only two pages of results, all of which were dodgy. Many others like Yahoo only had one page of results of the same dodgy or other dodgy results. I was wondering if you can lead me to the right one. You have been so helpful with finding me drivers before so I am sure it would be no problem.

I own a Fujitsu TH700 Tablet PC. It initially ran Windows 7 and everything was working really well on it, but then I upgraded to Windows 10 (I was curious) and some features just have not worked properly since. The one problem that I have been unable to fix is the touch screen. When the computer is in its "laptop position" (see image) the touch screen works just fine. However, when I rotate the screen and click it into the "tablet position" the touch screen becomes completely unresponsive. When I lift the lid again into the "laptop position", the screen remains unresponsive until I put the computer to sleep and wake it up again. After that, it works completely fine.

When the laptop screen is turned and clicked into the "tablet position", there is a programming shift that happens to turn the laptop into "tablet mode" (this is not the same as Windows 10 tablet mode. In-fact, Windows 10 tablet mode doesn't recognize me turning the screen and clicking it into the "tablet position"). I'm not sure what the differences are between the TH700's laptop mode and tablet mode. The only thing I can see is that the screen auto rotates (as shown in the image).

This malfunction started occurring soon after I downloaded Windows 10, but I'm fairly sure it was working properly for a week or so. It was only when I connected my TH700 (in the "tablet position") into an external projector that the touch scree... Read more

NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150 Video Driver - 7.15.11.5682
This is the video driver version for my HP tablet(HP Website). But unknowingly I installed the latest version(7.15.11.7770) from NVIDIA through Windows update. And from that time onwards, my touch screen stopped working. It is not recognizing my stylus/finger.
I contacted HP care and they advised me to follow these steps.
1) Uninstall the latest driver and install the 11.5682 driver
2) Bios Flash
3) Calibrate
I am done with the first two steps but still my touch screen is not recognizing the pen. So I couldn't calibrate.
When I contacted the HP care again, they are telling it may be because of hardware failure. My notebook is working perfectly except this touchscreen.

Please anyone help me to solve the issue.

Windows XP Tablet Edition had to be removed from my Lenovo ThinkPad X41 tablet because the PC was issued for school, and the school-licensed software had to be removed. Now I'm running Windows XP Pro (a mistake on the school technical administrator's part?), and the touch screen no longer responds to the stylus.
I tried to contact the school technical administrator, calling to his attention that I'm no longer running Tablet Edition, which is probably necessary, but he has not responded.
I've tried installing such drivers as 7jge15ww and 913z07us, and I've run the ThinkVantage System Update several times, to no avail. Is there a driver I'm overlooking? Is it at all possible to simply USE my tablet properly without having to go out and buy Windows XP Tablet Edition?

If the Recovery Partition is still intact and accessible you can return to Windows XP Tablet Edition by following these instructions: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-4UFUYK

Looking at the downloads I don't see a driver for the Touch Screen: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-67100
When you ran the System Update utility you installed all the drivers and software/accessories updates?

Hi all,    I have a really annoying problem...my x220 tablet disconnects from the internet whenever I enter tablet mode. The internet can be working perfectly fine while in non tablet mode but as soon as I switch to tablet mode, my internet disconnects. And if I switch back to non tablet mode from tablet mode, my internet returns almost instantaneously. I can load a page in non tablet mode with no problems, switch to tablet mode and the page stops loading. If I return back to non tablet mode the page resumes loading without so much as a pause or a hiccup. Also, when I switch the computer to tablet mode, wifi networks disappear off of the "available networks" list that were there before the switch.     I've tried everything, from updating network device drivers, reinstalling network device drivers, running diagnostics, reformatting my computer, uninstalling Norton Antivirus, system restoring to days before the last known working date in normal mode and safe mode, and contacting customer support (chat and call, managed to get a hold of a rep) but none of them have worked.    I also used to have a networking log before I reformatted/system reset to factory settings and there were a ton of errors with words like avsc manager failed to "something" ... I'll reinstall the thinkpad network managing program to create another log. Can someone please help me? My last resort is calling lenovo support again to have tech support come to hel... Read more

Hi, I have here a X220 Tablet that seem to have a FAN problem.Often in the last days my CPU temperature is often over 90 CAnd the fan has problem to reduce the temperature.I have also situation that the CPU is going too hot and the tablet switch off! With the CPU tool TPFC.62 I can see that the fan speed is 2300-2500 RPMs.But this seams not enough to be. And now the strange thing:When I disable the graphic adapter ?Intel(R) HD Graphics Family? (Driver 8.15.10.2321) and reboot and do the same thing that I done to get the temperature over 90 C with the intel graphic adapter the temperature is not going over 83 C!!! The fan speed is 3500-3800 RPMs. Can someone helps me with this issue?

Answer:X220 Tablet FAN Problem - temperature over 90 °C - tablet switch off :(

Hi giciorek,

I understand that your fan/temperature problems can be frustrating.  I would try updating your BIOS and also updating Power Manager.  (Some on the forum have tried downloading ThinkPad Fan Control, but that is not an official Lenovo solution.)

Download Power Manager here:

http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS014924

Download BIOS Update here:

http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS018805

In Power Manager, click Advanced at top right, you can Set Optimize Fan Control to Balance All Parameters under Battery Settings.  Set it to Reduce Noise Dynamically under AC.

Let me know if this helps.

I have a new X220 Tablet, and the Pen and Tablet functions work perfectly out of the box as long as the unit is on the Ultrabase. As soon as I remove from the Ultrabase (or boot while not connected), the Pen & Tablet functions stop working. Conversely, if I dock the X220, the Pen & Tablet functions begin working again. The behavior is the same regardless of whether I have an external monitor attached or not. Any thoughts?

According to Microsoft on this site.... http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-8/multitouch-hardware-reqs "....If you have touch input hardware that isn't specifically designed for Windows 8 or Windows 8.1, but displays the "Designed for Windows" logo for Windows 7, you'll experience touch responsiveness at least as good as it was on Windows 7...." Based on that, I upgraded my Lenovo X201 Tablet with Windows 7 (kept up to date with Lenovo's System update, and windows update, and working well), and lost the touch screen and pen abilities completely. In system manager I have an unknown device, but no Wacom device in Human Interface Devices; and in control panel I don't have either "Pen and Touch", or "Tablet PC Settings". I tried installing the W7 drivers from the Lenovo site in Windows 7 compatibility mode, and it displayed the error "No supported tablet was found". Having failed the upgrade, I proceeded to do a clean install, and had exactly the same result. Must clarify the update was to Windows 8 Pro, then all windows and Lenovo updates, and the upgrading to 8.1 from the store, and all windows and Lenovo updates again. So I'm dumbfounded. If I lost the touch ability as advertised at least as good as it was on Windows 7...., I will go back to Windows 7. I posted this on the Microsoft site, and the Microsoft Engineer said that this happens when the hardware was not realy designed for Windows 7 ... I know that this is not what you'd like to hear, but going back to W7 is indeed your best option in my opinion.

ello,I bought the latest and greatest X200 tablet, with a Multi Touch screen and all the trimmings, I was excited to change from a long family of T thinkpads (owned T20, T30, T40,T42, T61) and change to the long-awaited tablet. I prefer to write in bullets to cut to the chase: -paid for the computer the last days of October2008-computer delivered ONE MONTH LATER November 20th, already devaluated-in May 09, a problem started: every time you turned on the computer, the cursor moved on it's own erratically all over the screen, clicking on everything here and there on its own for a few seconds until Windows would "stop the process"-I had purchased On-Site service, but when I called, Lenovo argued vehemently that I had not purchased it and demanded I send the machine to fix on the box they sent.-They sent the machine back a week later WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. The wire they claim to have changed did not fix it.-I found my original invoice and noticed I HAD purchased On-Site service-I called support; they apologized and said a service person would come "next week"-That week passed and nobody came. I called again, disappointed.-A guy called Jamie xxxxxx promised I would be up and running really soon. He apologized again. This time someone would definitely come ?next week?-Next week someone came, with 3 boxes. He took my computer apart, breaking the hinge in the process, and then noticed none of the 3 boxes had a correct part. Another apology, still have a broken computer.... Read more

I have a basic model of the YOGA 300 (11 BY).  Due to size limitations of the eMMC drive, I couldn't upgrade to windows 10 (not enough disk space). So I downloaded the windows 10 installer/ISO to a 32gb SD Card, and upgraded from there.. actually (probably a mistake in retrospect) I did a clean install.. Windows 10 runs with no problems, and I downloaded./installed all the Lenovo drivers for windows 10 for this machine. Unfortunately I now have two issues: 1. When I flip the screen into tablet mode, the laptop doesn't seem to realise, and so I don't get the auto-tablet mode that I would expect? 2. Even with all the Lenovo drivers for this machine installed, I do not get any touch-screen response at all.. only mouse driven. Any help would be appreciated. P.S:  Anyone with the same version of YOGA 300 with an eMMC who wish to gain more drive space?  You can buy a cheap USB 3.0 slimline USB disk (because the SD Card sticks out a bit) and create a VHD which gives you a second "real drive"... this was particularlly useful when wanting to store my dropbox/onedrive sync locations!

I have not been able to use the touch screen functions for about a month now.  When you use your finger to select something on the screen it goes to the desktop and will not select the item you touched.  The only way the touch screen works is with the pen.  Also the screen will not rotate when you flip the screen into tablet mode.  I check for any new updates but the system is up to date.  This is driving me crazy as I need to have the touch screen working right for my business programs the are installed.

On this forum, when I tap a 'typo'tocorrectthe screen refreshes to another link on the site, such pca or link tin or tube..Facebook etc.,
It take much tapping back and forth to get back, occasionally loosing the thread altogether.
So why and can it be stopped.
My finger/stroke stylus do not stray from the page doing this, also it seems to be only when responging to a question.

Answer:When using tablet touch screen keyboard to edit text

I find that this site leaves a lot to be desired on a tablet or smartphone. It is all too easy to tap on the wrong portion or think that the tap hasn't worked and tap again which then leads you goodness knows where. One tip I can give is let the page settle down before tapping, make sure all of the ads have loaded, you need patience.

Hi

I've just acquired a Satellite R10-101 Laptop/Tablet.

The machine did not come with a touch pen so I am unsure if the touch screen is working or not.

When the machine is in tablet mode the touch screen does not respond to any touch with a finger. I have tried a pointing device from a hand held Windows CE device that has a touch screen but this does not work on the R10's touch screen.

Does the touch screen need to be enabled or do I need to obtain a Toshiba Touch Pen?

The machine is running Windows XP Tablet Edition. Will I get the same functionally if I upgrade to Windows 7. Is the R10's hardware compatible with Win 7?

Thanks for any help or advice.

Joe

Answer:Satellite R10-101: touch screen does not respond in tablet mode

Hi

The display panel works as a touch sensitive digitizer screen.
You need the Tablet Pen in order to use the touch display in tablet mode.

I think that you can order the missing tablet pen from Toshiba authorized service partner in your country or google for the part numbers: P000407550 or P000445420

I recently bough an Asus VivoTab Smart running windows 8 and everything was fine up until today when at some point the touch keyboard stopped disappearing whenever i needed to log in to the tablet! its annoying to have to find the on-screen keyboard and

Answer:Windows 8 tablet touch keyboard DISAPPEARED from login screen!

I don't know if this will help you but it solved a similar problem I had on my Windows 8 touch PC:
If you are able to reach the Start/app tile screen or desktop and from there "view local services" which you can find by typing "services" in the Start screen scroll down the list until you come to the "Touch Keyboard and Handwriting Panel Service" which
should say "Automatic (triggered)" and "Running"
From there "right-click" that service (or otherwise get into its properties), click the "Log On" Tab, click the first option under "Log on as:" (circle button "Local System account") and make sure to Check box "Allow service to interact with desktop"
For me this box somehow became unchecked when I "Refreshed" my windows 8 to solve another issue. Once I checked the box, the keyboard started to reappear at the login screen.

I am new to tablets and have seen people handwrite notes on an ipad and the ipad changes their writing into type and either stores it as a note or uses it to fill in blanks in a form. How do I do this with a Windows 10 based touch screen. I am using a Dell Inspiron 2-in-1 in tablet mode.

Answer:How do I get a Windows 10 based touch screen tablet to recognize handwriting?

Just tried Word and Notepad, you bring up the on screen keyboard and then click on the picture of a keyboard on the bottom right, where you choose what type of keyboard you want and choose the text input one, and scratch away. I admit I use a Surface Pro 3 with a pen.
OneNote will also work this way but may have other ways to do it.

The learning curve on this machine is steep if you want to take advantage of all the input options but I've put the time in and I'm starting to love it. There is one thing I wish Lenovo would address though. I see plenty of ThinkPad users with this problem going back to at least 2008, and no solutions forthcoming. The manual states: "On the display bezel near the screen is a row of buttons with which you can control your computer in the tablet mode, without the use of the keyboard."By default the buttons are set to turn your computer off, press CTRL+ALT+DEL, or rotate the screen 90 degrees. The manual goes on to describe how you can customize these buttons via the Tablet Shorcut Menu, which is accessed via Start > Programs > Lenovo ThinkVantage Tools > Tablet Utility. If you open this program you get a dialog box titled "Auto Screen Rotation Settings." This dialog controls what orientation the screen should switch to when you convert into tablet. So it really doesn't have anything to do with the buttons. The only dialog that allows any assignment of the tablet buttons is Windows Control Panel > Tablet PC Settings. Here the Buttons tab is supposed to list the actual buttons on the front panel and let you assign them, but the only one shown is the Screen Rotation button. This works fine, you can set the button's function for a single press and a long press. (Too bad it's not possible to use Shift by itself, but that is as-designed by MS.)It should go without sayi... Browsing the internet, I noticed there are different pictures of the Horizon 2.Question: are there different variants of the Horizon 2 and does some variants do not have a touch screen? I have opened the unit in hopes of finding an easy fix in loose cables or connections, and everything looks plugged in.  My X201T tablet mouse, stylus and multitouch functions worked well until about three weeks ago. Before this problem, when I changed orientation from landscape to portrait, the tablet and stylus adjusted to the changes just fine. Then some update happened either through System Update or through Windows Update or through me trying to keep current with the latest drivers. Now, this is my difficulty: When I change from landscape to portrait, the stylus gets confused, and the pointer is about 90 degrees and several inches off away from the stylus tip. When I go to calibrate the stylus functions, the calibration function does not work. When I go to calibrate the touch functions, it calibrates okay, but on the next reboot, I lose all use of the mouse as soon as the desktop loads. Neither the trackpoint nor the ultranav touch pad work and the mouse buttons don't work. I have mouse functions pre-deskop up until the user logon. The only recovery I have found is to do a "System Restore" to the most current restore point. Go figure. In Control Panel, I now have two separate applications to handle what used to be handled by one application: "Pen Tablet Properties" and "Touch Settings". The "Pen Tablet Properties" includes calibration of the stylus but the calibration doesn't work. The "Touch Settings" handles calibration of the finger touch, but after the calibration I lose mouse function. Here all all of the drivers I have loaded at this time which might relate.Lenovo System Interface dri... Hey all, I'm on an i7 x220 running W8 (and Ubuntu on VirtualBox, phew) - but I've gotten myself into a problem.  I disabled a bunch of mouse drivers trying to play a Steam game this weekend, and somehow turned off the left and right click buttons that are directly above the trackpad. The middle button still functions as a scrollwheel when held, but the apparent amputation of the L/R click is really bugging me. Anyone know if there are specific registry edits I can make, or a driver specifically for these two buttons? Thank you!

Answer:X220 upper left and right clicks nonfunctional - but good news, trackpad and UltraNav working fine

Hi, warrenmcwin

I would recommend uninstalling the UltraNav driver from Device Manager and then reinstalling the driver in its entirety. This will ensure that all components are properly recognized and installed. To uninstall the current driver, navigate to Device Manager by pressing Win + X and choosing it from the menu. When here, open the tree for Mice and other pointing devices. Right-click on the device present and select Uninstall. Once uninstalled, you should be prompted to restart your machine. Once restarted, a generic driver from Windows should be installed. This will allow you to navigate and download the UltraNav driver here.

Regards,
Adam

I bought this Yoga 13 (i5, 4G, 128G) last year. In recent day the touch screen ran into a very annoying problem: a continuous and random clickings occurs with the touch screen. I could see the print of the clicks, which are a regular series of circle marks along a verticle lines, from upper part of screen to the bottom status bar and keep hitting all the desktop icons and the explorer along that line. This random click persists even when I get into the recovery mode. So I don't bother to try the recovery to default state. Moreover, my computer also installed Ubuntu 14.04 as dual boot. Such a problem appears in Ubuntu as well, but the clicks are located to a different lines. It seems that this is a hardware problem. However, my computer has passed the warranty. Does any one has any idea how to fix this?

Answer:yoga 13 random clicking on touch screen

I'm sorry I do not have an answer to your question, I actually share the same exact problem. The constant "phantom clicking" of the touch screen makes me unable to use my computer. I'm in college and my laptop is very necessary for me to complete my homework. I've checked for malware and attempted a recovery but heard it would probably be useless. My Lenovo is also out of warranty. I only hope that by replying to this I can somehow signal boost this thread and we can get an answer. That is unless your problem has been resolved?  In which case I would love to hear how you fixed it!
