Question: Pen and Touch not responding windows 8

I just installed windows and ran Lenovo System Update. Now the touch screen and pen are not working. Under device manager there is an unknown device. Is there someplace to download the drive directly? Glenn

Preferred Solution: Pen and Touch not responding windows 8

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello All - I just noticed that my multi-touch (not enhanced multi-touch) screen no longer responds to finger touch; just pen. It used to respond to both before i upgraded to Windows 7.I tried the Lenovo diagnostic check for the touch screen, and during the test, it only responded to the pen. What should I do? Is there a certain driver i'm missing or need to uninstall and then re-install?Thanks in advance.

Answer:Post Windows 7 Upgrade - Touch Panel Not Responding to Finger Touch (x200t)

Ok...I think i really screwed something up. As per a Lenovo support tech's advice, i installed the Windows 7 "Enhanced" Multi-touch Driver, even though i do not have the enhanced multi-touch screen, and this is what it says on Lenovo's site about this new driver: "*1: ThinkPad X200 Tablet models with the Multitouch are NOT supported." "*1: ThinkPad X200 Tablet models with the ENHANCED Multitouch ARE supported." So, i go ahead and install it. I notice that finger touch now works, but the pen setting are now all screwed up! The eraser no longer responds when i turn the pen around to erase. It actually INKS with the eraser as well! OneNote no longer automatically starts inking (or erasing) when i bring the pen (or eraser) into range. I have to manually click on the pen icon (or the eraser icon) on the tool bar to use these functionalities! *groan* In the Tablet PC Input Panel: no eraser functionality (it inks instead!!) and even the button on the pen (which previously had the right-click ability) only inks when pressed down! I think i made my situation worse...Please Help! Adam

Received my ThinkPad Yoga today - i7 ? 8 Gb - 256 Gb SSD - Win 8.1 pro ? One major problem ? the touch screen stops responding to finger intermittently. It always responds to the stylus. Updated all the Lenovo drivers and did Windows updates. When it stops responding, the only way to get it to work is by doing a shut down ( restart does not work ). Read the forums and disabled and enabled HID-compliant vendor-defined device. That did not make any difference. Is this a common issue and is there a software fix for it or is it just a faulty screen?

Answer:Thinkpad Yoga 20CDCTR1WW - Touch Screen not responding to touch - intermittent

Hi Waferthin,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

I?m sorry to hear that you are facing the issue with Touch screen on ThinkPad Yoga.

To resolve the issue please follow the below troubleshooting steps.

Remove the Wacom touch gesture driver in the device manager and make sure to check "uninstall driver" when you do so otherwise the touch will stop working again a minute later.
And after that restart the system and the touch screen driver will automatically install.
In services.msc restart human interface device service to run automatically.

Hope this helps!

Best regards,
Hemanth Kumar

Hi, I have the Lenovo X1 Carbon Touch, new as of april 2014, and since last week, the touch screen has stopped responding to touch inputs. Before this it has been working and behaving perfectly. I have tried to turn the laptop entirely off and on, reboots... No effect. The screen simply acts like it never was touch. The HID driver is present and claims to be working. I tried to reinstall it and it does so with no errors or warnings. I also tried to reinstall the monitor and graphics card drivers. The Tablet control panel icon offers a calibrate option but Reset is disabled. The calibrate doesn't help because it doesn't respond to touch. System says it has touch with 10 finger inputs. Windows 8.1 Update 1, Enterprise SKU Any advice is welcome. UPDATE! Touch works when I lay the screen out flat. But if I return it to any angle, it stops working. Is this related to LayFlat mode or is there a connection fault in the display for touch input so only when I lay it flat it has contact? Software or hardware?

Especially at the right eadge, when I touch one spot, there're multiple spots in the same line across the screen responding, so, the result is when I am scrolling a document, the computer starts to zoom it  in or out!!!! I've got my first computer replaced and the second one still has the problem, it's a hardware problem or only needs some calibration???

Has anyone noticed that every once in a while, a Yoga screen becomes unresponsive to touch?  I use mine mostly in tablet mode, and sometimes out of the blue, I can no longer do anything with the screen.  I have to use the power button to put the laptop to sleep, and then press it again to wake--everything works again after that.  So I'm wondering why that happens.  Is it a touchscreen driver crashing?  Has anyone found whether there's some driver version that works better or else another solution?  P.S.: Im using all the latest drivers I could find, including the latest Intel display driver.  No other issues at all other than this one.

Answer:Yoga 2 Pro: touch screen stops responding to touch sometimes

I have not had this issue, but is it possible that it has something to do with transitioning in and out of tablet mode?   In my normal usage I have to fold the screen about halfway closed to set my T2P down which puts the device in tablet mode.  Occasionally, when I open it back up the keyboard and touchpad do not respond.  If I close it most of the way then reopen, it snaps back to laptop mode and all is OK.  Your issue may be completely unrelated, but I am offering it in case it jogs some other thoughts.

Hello all,  I have come across a very strange issue and searching on this forum and Google have not shown something fully similiar. This past weekend I did the update to Windows 8.1 from Win 8 and now the touch screen on my W510 stops responding anywhere from 20-60 seconds after login. I have checked the driver and it is currently using the Wacom Gesture Touch Properties v.7.0.1.0 from 12/2010, Microsoft HID-compliant vendor-defined device from 6/2006 and Microsoft HID-compliant touch screen driver from 6/2006. Windows states these are the latest drivers and that all is working properly.  I have attempted to identify if there are any startup conflicts without success. The touchscreen is fine and then all of a sudden there is no response. No problems at all with with Windows 8. This seems to me to be a software conflict or firmware problem as there is functionality when I first start the machine. Any ideas would be apprecicated.  System info: W510 4318CTO Intel Core i7 Q 720 @1.60GHz8GB RAMnVidia Quadro FX 880M15.6-inch (396mm) FHD (1920x1080) color, anti-glare, LED backlight, MultiTouch (touchscreen supports two-finger touch)Windows 8.1 Thank you.

Answer:W510 touch screen stops responding since Windows 8.1

Well I was hoping for some suggestions. Still working on this myself. I have found that if I go into services.msc and restart the Human Interface Device Service, then the touch screen will start working again for a about a minute. As long as I'm working with it, everything is good. If I let it sit for some time, ~20 sec, then it's no longer working. The startup type for this service is Automatic (Trigger Start). Maybe things are not being triggered.Or this is a red herring...

My IdeaPad U310 Touch running Windows 7 is having touchpad problems. With no touchpad drivers installed, it shows up as a generic "PS/2 Compatible Mouse" and has basic functionality - I can move the pointer and click, but no gestures, scrolling or other touch features.

Link to image 1

I then installed 0wto11ww.exe, "TouchPad Driver (Synaptics, Cypress)" from http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/ideapad-u-series-laptops/ideapad-u310-... . Version 15.3.33.0/2.3.6.31, released 4/24/2012.

After installing, I manually updated the driver via Device Manager and rebooted. Now the computer identifies the touchpad as a "Lenovo pointing device".

However, the computer doesn't respond to the touchpad at all. No mouse moving or clicking is working. Enabling/disabling the touchpad via Fn+F6 has no effect. I rebooted in safe mode and the touchpad was still unresponsive.

Link to image 2

I think I'm on the right track, because when I installed 0wto11ww.exe, the touchpad configuration tab showed up in control panel's "Mouse Properties". I can configure all the touchpad's advanced features now, but Windows 7 continues to ignore the input.

Any ideas on how to further troubleshoot this issue? Thanks!

I updated windows 7 to windows 10.After the update I started experiencing issues with touch screen. It starts working fine, but about 30 seconds later the touch screen stops responding.  Disabling any of the HID drivers and enabling them, reenables the touch screen for another 30 seconds I tried removing the HID drivers, all of themi went to services.msc and set the process to automatic. This did not fix the issue. Anyone with a similar problem, or solution

My phone fell, and when it turned back on the touchscreen wasnt responding. Theres a little crack on the bottom left. It gives me the 'battery is critically low' warning, and lets me tap the 'ok' button. But then it goes back to not responding. Its like only the top half of the screen works, but thats only sometimes. Could it still be fixed? What can i do? I already turned the phone on then off, i already took out the battery, and reset my phone for no reason because it was no help.

Answer:Why isn't my touch screen responding?

Unfortunately, it sounds like you may have a busted digitizer. A digitizer is the piece of hardware that allows the screen to receive and respond to your finger touching your phone.
Sometimes parts of the screen work while others do not. I'd recommend doing a Bing search on replacing the digitizer in your specific phone. If it's under some sort of warranty, that may be an option as well.
Best of luck!

A lot of my programs including File Explorer, Microsoft Office, internet pages in Chrome, Adobe photoshop and others keep freezing giving me a "Not Responding" message next to the program name at top in most programs. It takes up to a minute for them to start working again. This happens constantly and is driving me nuts. I ran a fix program for Microsoft Office from their site without success. A McAfee scan doesn't reveal any issues. Does anyone know how to fix this? I use my computer for writing manuscripts and it is frustrating that this happens every few minutes.

Hi, I used to have an issue where the screen keyboard appeared for no reason when it was on laptop mode, but the screen keyboard dissappeard within 5 seconds (sometimes longer). Obviously this would stop my physical keyboard and touch pad for functioning. I then deactivated the automatic screen keyboard function. Then, this happened..Now my keyboard and touchpad stop functioning for no reason, but respond after a few seconds, exactly the same as the issue I had before when the automatic keyboard on the screen function was on! There's even a couple of times that it didn't 'wake up' and I would have to restart the whole thing.. I have replaced my motherboard with Lenovo before (which was because of the not functioning auto brightness, but the changes didn't fix the issue anyway) but this issue remains. Does anyone experience the samething?! This is very annoying especially when I have to stop recording my notes in my lectures! HELP PLEASE!!!

Hello,I got this laptop about 3 months ago and the touch screen was responding perfectly however it stopped responding and hasn't worked for 2 weeks.  I've updated it whenever it needed to be updated so I went to the Microsoft website and tried to find the problem. I've tried turning it off, cleaning the screen, and some other things. Before I came here I looked at the pen and touch setting and it said 'no pen or touch input available for this display.' Why does it say that? I've looked around but I couldn't find a solution. Please help.Thank you, Rahel M.

Hello,

My laptop (Acer) has virtually been trouble free since I got it, at least until now. Yesterday when I was going to use the laptop, which was powerd off at home, the touch pad pointer didn't move and none of the keyboard buttons had any effect. I restarted using the power button (which incidentally is the only button working), the computer rebooted with the log in screen coming up as before and again, nothing worked.

I have tried a USB mouse and that had no effect either. I've restarted many times and it's always the same, I can't even access the bios because there is no response to F2 during bootup. I really need to retrieve some of my files, any help is greatly appreciated and welcome. Thank you!!

Answer:laptop not responding, touch pad & keyboard

If you need to retrieve your files, pull the hard drive, stick it into a USB enclosure, go to a different computer and pull the files. Dunno what to do about the actual computer, sorry.

Answer:mouse and touch pad not responding/working?

I am facing similar problem. However it is little different. My touch pad stopped working just within 3 months after buying this product. Now the problem is no body is taking responsibility of this kind of problems customers are facing. Here the real problem is my blue light at the touch pad has also stopped working. I believe it means, it must have some hardware problem. Now it is almost more than 8 months to this product and am still struggling with this problem. The only good part of it is, here my usb mouse is still working. One more thing i would like to know here, how can i find lenovo help key you mentioned in your querry? Please guide someone to get rid of this problem.

I bought the PC in July 2015 and it had to be returned to HP 3 times! Firstly the hard drive failed in autumn 2015 and was replaced. The keyboard was failing in june 2016 and was replaced. The touchpad was not working properly in July 2016 and was replaced. It is now conveniently for HP out of warranty after more than 1 year and is worse than ever. The cursor is constantly not responding to the touchpad touch and constantly disappears, it also jumps around the screen. The touchpad was replaced in July 2016 and still doesn't work. Occasionally the touchscreen will fail to respond to touch.

I have a lumia 730, purchased very recently, 3 weeks back. It was working fine and i started loving the features, camera clarity, its absolute speed while using apps and high end games, and all of a sudden accidentally the screen got damaged. Got it replaced by Nokia authorised service center, as it is covered under warranty from the seller. After a week, i got back my lumia 730 from Service center with a new replaced screen, i've observed that the device is getting heated by itself. I can feel the warmth of the device.
No idea on what to do now!! Is this could be due to the replaced screen? Did anyone faced similar concerns!? Please let me know if any solutions are availiable! thanks.

Answer:On my Lumia 730, why is it getting heated and why has the touch stopped responding?

2 things.. There might be an app running in the background that is causing the device to heat up.. 2ndly if your warranty covers it, ask for a replacement unit

If your touch screen is not responding to your touch, try this:try looking at Device Manager,  if there's a yellow-flagged item and/or no driver for touch screen under HID (human interface device)  then you have to add it. click on the yellow flag item, tell it to update driver from list from your computer,   go to Generic drivers, not the Acer ones, choose the one that's called HID touch screen,  update it,  restart, and there you go.check another post here on this forum,  from scotsman.  he gives the steps maybe a little better than I do..Acer tech supoort were useless, as usual,  and told me I had to do a Restore.  They are worse than useless, actually, since they waste tons of your time and then all they can tell you is to do a complete restore. When will Acer ever get decent tech support people? When you look at Amazon reviews, for example, under my particular laptop,  you find over a hundred reviews,  large percent being rather negative,  but you'll notice that it's mostly over bad experiences with Acer tech support.   and this is for a thousand dollar machine !!I personally believe that Acer makes good hardware but what's holding them back is their tech support:  it's horrible !!!

So, since I got the new update for windows 10 mobile (non insider) last week, Facebooks 3 apps (Fb, Messenger + Instagram) sometimes get stuck, and the strange thing is when i open for example Instagram when noticing that its stuck at messenger, then that app is also stuck (doesn't respond to touch).
I'm running the aps on a Lumia 930.
For your notice, other apps work fine, just not the ported fb apps (and they work again after a soft reset, but I dont want to do that every day).
Anyone else that got this problem?

When I start up my system, all appears to work OK.  Then, at some point both the pen and touch stop working.  When I turn the screen into laptop mode, I find that the mouse pointer and buttons work normally.  The only way to get the pen and touch to work again is to restart the computer. I ran the system update and all the drivers are up to date.  I also tried deleting all the input and screen drivers, and did a reinstall, but that didn't change anything. I'm wondering if it may be a BIOS issue, since I saw a posting that suggested that, but it was not for the x230. This is really driving me nuts...I'm out of ideas.

Hi there. I bought this z580 around the end of November and, when I got it, everything was fine. Because I do a lot of stuff on photoshop, I ended up buying a wireless logitech mouse that is just plug and play through the usb port. I noticed today, though, that my touchpad now is completely responseless. I can't left click, right click, move the cursor, or do anything on the touchpad at all. Even if I remove the logitech mouse and its corresponding usb piece, the touchpad senses nothing. The Synaptics Pointing Device icon is still in my taskbar and it seems that there is no issue there that it detects. I did visit the drivers and software section to download the windows 7 touchpad driver again, but it didn't make a difference even after installing and restarting. Did this happen with anyone else? Is there anything else I can do before getting annoying and having to deal with support and techs? Please let me know! Thank you.

Answer:ideapad z580 touch pad suddenly stopped responding

hi ollyrocket,

Welcome to the Lenovo Community.

If pressing Fn+F6 to enable/disable the touchpad doesn't work, What you could try is to:
1. Uninstall Lenovo Energy Management & the Synaptics Touchpad Driver under the Control Panel and reboot
2. Download and install the:

Synaptics Touchpad Driver    Lenovo Energy Management0mtp05w8.exe                      em8.0.2.3.exe90.5MB                               45.4MB

On my new E440 the touch screen will stop randomly. A restart or sleep/wake will reenable it. It seems random. Using win 8.1 and drivers that came with the Lenovo.

Welcome to the Forums Dahlia!

Press Windows+X.
- Select Device Manager.
- Find the Touchscreen driver under Mice and Other Pointing Devices>USB Touchscreen Controller(A111).  You're going to uninstall this and check the box that says "Delete the driver software for this device".  Don't worry, it won't blow up your computer.
- Restart your computer.
- Re-open the Device Manager, and confirm that the Touchscreen is now listed under Human Interface Devices.

Hello. I have a Lenovo Yoga 2 from work and we use it to get customer signiture on a web browser page for the company I work for. however lately. when a customer is trying to sign in the signniture box, it just move the whole screen around in a similar way to moving the screen with your finger. the only way it writes is when you hold the stylus down for a scond or two and then write without lifting it. but every time it leaves the screen then the same problem happens again. I tried to fix it from the touch screen settings but nothing seems to work. and advice on fixing this is greatly appreciated.

Hello,Today I have encountered quite a serious problem. Yesterday I disassembled my laptop just to clean up, change the thermal grease and glue the plastic case near hinges. Everything done, glue needs to harden, so I left it for a whole night. This morning I make everything together, start up and - track point, touchpad, keyboard does not work. However everything is connected well, since it works in BIOS and in Windows setup.OK. I plugged external keyboard and mouse, typed this problem in Google and found solution... Universal: Reinstall Windows. Not interested at all. What I did:uninstall ultranav/synaptics drivers, uninistall universal drivers in device manager. Installed UltraNav drv from lenovo webpage. Installation has finished correctly, but when I want to get in Mouse settings appears an error box:http://s13.postimg.org/fcdj2vro7/error.pngWhatever I chose the consequences are the same: No ULTRANAV tab in 'Mouse settings'...(I use Win7 pro)Do not know how to cope with this issue, may you help me?  EDIT: I plugged external monitor and pushed (spontaneously) fn+f6. It worked. But only once, now no reaction.

Hi there! Need help. Obviously. Hope people still look at this fourm... I have a Lenovo Yoga 3 1470 Laptop. Its...a few years old AND it is out of warrenty (so please no recommendations for sending it into Lenovo Repair Service). It is running the Windows 10 update, though it initally came with Windows 8.1  A few days ago I factory reset the computer to wipe it of all files and such. When the reset was finished it updated and reloaded itself with Windows 10. Everything seemed fine at first... HOWEVER, the touch screen is not responding to anything. I can fold the laptop into tablet mode, the physical keyboard will shut off but it will not respond to touches by any means. The Pen & Touch information in windows settings says that Pen & Touch are not available for this device. I have checked the drivers and the HID-Compliant Driver is NOT THERE (it was at first but it was greyed out and gave me a code 45).  Tent mode also doesn't work. I can flip the computer over, and Auto -Rotate will appear on the screen but the screen never flips. I have searched high and low on Google and Lenovo but perhaps I am missing something, a driver update or ...anything. Hi everyone,
I have a 1.5 year old Dell Latitude 3540 laptop, which I've recently upgraded to Windows 10 Pro (from 8.1 Pro). It has a non-touch screen.
For some reason, Windows 10 sometimes thinks it has a touch screen. It then shows the icon for the touch keyboard at the bottom right corner, and when going to Settings->System->About, under "Pen and Touch" it says "Touch support with 2 touch points".
This doesn't really bother me, as it doesn't seem to actually influence anything important. But still, seems pretty strange.
Did anyone else here experience something similar?
Thanks!

Yoga thinkpad 20cd. I have the original stylus that came with the lap top as well as an aftermarket LIfebook stylus. The screen doesn't register either stylus. When i go to the windows pen calibration the stylus works fine. The calibration consists of tapping targets with the stylus pen. It is very accurate. Soon as i close the calibration window the stylus doesn't interact with the screen at all. I assume I must have changed some setting by accident or it occurred with an update. The stylus use to work a few months ago. I have tried messing with my display settings to remove the adaptive brightness at one point and may have selected a wrong setting. Thank you for any help provided.

Hi all, First of all, I know there were already 2 topics regarding this issue, but I have to create this topic because those 2 topics were marked 'Solved' and the solution there were not helping in my case at all. Symtoms:- In the beginning, it worked well even after upgraded to Windows 8.1, after some point, touch screen did not work anymore- There was a time that the touch did not work, I had to open the laptop 360 degrees, then put it back to normal so touch can work, but now it didn't fix the situation anymore- In 'Control Panel\System and Security\System', it shows that "No Pen or Touch Input is available for this Display"- In Device Manager, there is only 1 USB Input Device in Human Interface Devices (Hardware ID is USB\VID_2047&PID_0855)- There is no unidentified or conflicted devices What I have tried:- Install all Lenovo's drivers- Install old Intel Graphic driver- Reinstall windows 8.1- Reinstall windows 8- Disabled and enable all HID and USB devices- I lost the backup partition somehow so I cannot use OneKey Recovery Could anybody help me with this? I really appreciate all your help! I believe that there are many people had the same problem like me and have nowhere to turn to. Hope this can help them as well if it is solved!

I know that you can play games like XCOM and Master of Orion II on a touch screen laptop, though I was wondering: can I play something like XCOM, while still using touch to play the game?

Answer:Can a touch screen laptop play non-touch screen games...with touch?

I play World of Warcraft which was definitely not designed for touch screen and can interact with the interface just fine on my yoga.

Hope you can help! I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate SP1, 4GB, 64bit, Intel i5, NVIDIA, Kaspersky Internet Security 15.0.2.
I primarily use IE11, but switch to Mozilla Firefox 43.0.2 when IE stops responding. My primary email is AOL which I access via web, not software. Computer often slow and hangs.

The main issue is IE11 "stops responding" several times a day. I've run the latest version of Malwarebytes (subscription), Glary Utilities Pro, Kaspersky IS, CCleaner, and Disk Cleanup. I delete browing history daily. No virus or malware shows up after scans. Recently ran a full scan on Kaspersky overnight+ and still, no viruses detected. I'm not sure what the issue is and would gladly go back to IE9 or 10 if IE11 is the issue, but I need to be sure.

Whatever guidance you can offer would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

1) Are they on company or personal machines? If personal could this be a personal firewall issue?

2) Are they connecting wirelessly? Have they try connecting wired and see if it makes a difference.

3) I haven't used Outlook 2K in a long time, but I remember there being a setting about how to behave when using a slow connection. Something like tools, send receive, send receive settings. I think one of the options was to basically do nothing. You might poke around in those settings and see what you find.

I just encountered this problem, it seems like an issue with the touch screen driver. When a monitor is connected via VGA and that monitor is made the primary display, whenever I touch the laptop screen, the click indication appears on the wrong monitor. Is there a driver update that fixes this? Who should be notified? What company made/supports the touch screen?

Answer:W510 touch registers on wrong monitor when touch screen not primary display

hey MRX,regarding this, really hard to say what could be the cause.curious to know, the external monitor which you are using, did it by any chance some with its own drivers ? also have you tried reversing and placing the external monitor as the primary ? does it make any difference?

Hello, I have the TOSHIBA Satellite U400. Everything is going great but I have a few concerns.

1. The Touch Panel (Media Buttons on top of keyboard -mute-media-play/pause-stop-rewind-forward-) turn
the computer ON if touched! How do you stop that from happening? I only need to use the POWER button.
Power button is enough.

2. The MUTE button on the Touch Panel does not actually "mute" or "unmute" sound. Instead, all it does
is turn the White Glow Light for the entire Touch Panel ON and OFF (including the word "SATELLITE").
How do I make it do its proper function?

3. When logging into Windows, I get to choose between Password or FACE RECOGNITION. How do I
set it to FACE RECOGNITION only without having to choose it?

Thank you,

Hi I bought a Acer ICONIA 6120 Dual Touch Screen Laptop in 2011 when I was in US. I returned to India in 2011. In 2014 the bottom touch screen virtual key board started mal-functioning. The keys will automatically click making it unable to use. I gave it to a local technician he disabled the bottom touch screen. He also said the Hard Drive is corrupted needs replacement. He replaced with a new 500GB hard drive. While replacing it he changed the Windows 7 home premium to Windows 7 ultimate. From then on we were using it with a wireless key board. Now I am trying to repair the laptop. 1) Where can get 14" bottom touch screen so that I can buy and install 2) Where can get the recovery disks along with windows 7 home premium Thanks in advance for your help

Answer:Acer ICONIA 6120 Dual Touch Screen - Bottom Touch ...

I suggest that you first try to recover the laptop to factory-fresh Win7 home premium by purchasing the Iconia 6120 recovery media. This may help resolve the bottom screen issue. If you aren't in the US, please click on support at the top of this page. Choose the country. Then click "get support". And then choose contact acer for tablets. You should then get phone numbers or email addresses for Acer representatives who might help arrange for you to get this media.  Jack E/NJ

My Ideapad P400 Touch with Windows 8 is no longer responding to right side swipe (charms bar gesture).  All other touch screen functions and gestures still work normally, including the left side swipe to switch apps.  The screen still displays the 'touch feedback' dots when I attempt the gesture but no charms bar appears! I've tried recalibrating as well as removing calibration of touch screen, and tried various other troubleshooting procedures I found on this site, like uninstalling recent updates, etc... Nothing in manual under troubleshooting. Any quick fix suggestions have likely been tried, but open to all ideas. If all else fails, and assuming the digitizer is bad, what does repair entail and any rough estimate? Is there any recall? I see this issue on the forum a lot with not many folks getting it resolved.TIA!!

Answer:U310 IdeaPad Touch :The Touch Screen Stopped Working. No Previous Posts Have Helped.

hi c2nah777,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

Have you tried booting the system in Recovery Mode (One Key Recovery), You're not going to Recover the system since your only going to check the touchscreen in that mode "Outside Windows"

See if the touhcscreen works there,
If Yes, I would suggest doing a factory Reset First Before jumping into a hardware Repair.
If No, Then I think you're correct with the digitizer.

Hi Guys, I recently knew from my older brother that there's an option to disabled the touch pad, while using the laptop with the mouse. Because my touch is extra sensitive that when I'm working at times my palm touches it, and it transfers the cursor anywhere. But I like the sensitivity though because when I don't have a mouse, I can tap lightly twice and it opens the files or the links. But since using Fn+F6 for a week, I lost the sensitivity on my touch pad. I need to press hard once to click or open links or files. I tried modifying the touchpad sensitivity option, but no avail. Please help me, I'm a freelance worker and at times I don't work with a mouse.  Thanks,Brent

I am an older person who uses my ThinkPad X120e away from the office quite a bit.  In the last few years my hands have become increasingly shaky.  What is happening is that when I move my finger around on the touchpad the cursor will pass over icons and buttons on the screen.  Often my finger gives an inadvertent bounce and whoops I just selected an ad or feature I did not intend to select.  So my question:  Is there a way to disable the select on tap function of the touchpad?  I still want to use it to navigate but prefer to use the keys to do the selecting because of my unsteady hands. Note to Marketing types - There are an increasing number of us old farts who are looking for ways to stay active on line in spite of our impairments. Thanks for any help, hoping this is a simple adjustment I have not found yet.

Answer:Can I disable the 'touch select' and multi touch features on my touchpad

Oceanglenn, welcome to the forum,

if you go to mouse settings in control panel you can disable this function by removing the "tick" in enable tap zones, or adjust it to how it's comfortable for you;

Alternatively you can also reach the settings by using the key combination Fn + F8

Hope this helps

My wife uses the Lenovo U430 laptop. When she's using the touch screen, and she touches on an area, it will occasionally zoom in on that area instead of "clicking" what she's touching. This is annoying her (and me) to no end. This does not happen when she uses the touchpad. How can we stop this from happening?

I currently own an x1 carbon (2nd gen) 20A8 where in windows 10 settings | systems | about | device specifications it says "Pen and touch: Touch Support with 10 Touch Points". I'm looking at upgrading to an x1 carbon (4th gen) 20FB/20FC model where the ebay listing shows windows 10 settings | systems | about | device specifications it says "Pen and touch: Limited Touch Support with 2 Touch Points". Any insights as to what exactly a touch display with "Limited Touch Support with 2 Touch Points" implies about that 4th gen model number and display behavior in windows 10 as compared to what i have now that shows "Touch Support with 10 Touch Points"?

Answer:what does x1 carbon (4th gen) "Limited Touch Support with 2 Touch Points" imply

Hello and welcome,

Only going by what I read below - the Gen 4 doesn't have a touchscreen option so that may be referring to the touchpad.

Hi, I have a Lenovo Y70 Touch with Windows 10. Recently, my touchscreen has been malfunctioning.  Randomly, the touchscreen will start receiving touch events at various locations of the screen withouth me touching it, making it nearly impossible to do anything (By touch events, I mean it is as if someone is touching their fingers to my screen over and over again).  I can disable the touchscreen, which makes it so I can do stuff at least, but I would like to use the touchscreen without a problem. It seems like the false touch events are being received in a particular location on the left side of my screen for the most part, which leads me to believe it's a hardware issue. I ran the Lenovo Solution Center tool's hardware test and it didn't find anything, but I also didn't see a test for the touchscreen in there. I'm stumped. Even if it is a hardware issue, I'm not sure how to proceed with Lenovo (I am under warranty, thankfully). Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi, My G400s series touch screen laptop touch not working. It stops working just one month back. It was purchased around 16 months back. I have done all the trick which suggested on the forum by many users but all in vain. I have always updated with latest updates by Microsoft including Window 8.1/latest driver by Lenovo but I think this is not the issue with Windows upgrade because this was done months back and touch was working perfectly. If this is hardware problem the Lenovo should accept the fault and change the failure part free of cost or come up with some solution because many Lenovo users suffering with this problem. Haven't updated your laptop's trackpad driver lately? Then you may well want to consider doing so, at least if your laptop is equipped with a Synaptics trackpad. As a user on the Hardware Zone forums discovered, the latest Synaptics driver seems to enable multitouch gestures on older laptops that didn't previously support them, including two-finger scrolling, and three-finger click. What's more, while the drivers themselves come from HP, they should work just fine on other laptops with a Synaptics trackpad. Hit up the link below to try it out for yourself.

I've lost the use of my keyboard, but not the touch pad. Restarting and converting to table mode and back doesn't correct the issue. Thoughts? I'm not sur where to go from here. Could the keyboard be physically dead?

Answer:Yoga 2 Keyboard not working, but touch pad and touch screen fine

You should test the keyboard in the BIOS menu and see whether it works. 1) Press on the recovery button (next to the power button, you may need a small screwdriver). https://www.flickr.com/photos/lead_org/11617761143/in/set-721576390073780542) Then there is an option menu for entering recovery, bios, etc. https://www.flickr.com/photos/lead_org/14512183979/in/set-72157639007378054Use your keyboard and see whether it works in that option menu. If it doesn't work then it is a faulty keyboard.

For the past several weeks I've experienced a very annoying problem with my ThinkPad.  Whenever the laptop goes to sleep and resumes the touch screen goes... crazy. It starts registering multiple inputs across the touchscreen and the only thing that seems to resolve the issue is a restart. Sometimes, upon restart, the touch screen works normally, other times it does not work at all.  Has anyone else experienced this issue? I've seen this issue described for other Lenovo models with fixes, but none for my model.  Under the hardware ID in device manager, this monitor is a LEN 40A4.  I'm running Windows 10.  This is my third Thinkpad X1 Carbon, not because I love to upgrade, but because these machines seem to only last one year before something major breaks.

Hello, this is my situationI have bought my Lenovo Z400 Touch 59366600 in June last year, and it came with a non-functional webcam. In September last year, the touchscreen started exhibiting the spurious touch input fault on the left edge, rendering the computer unusable until the touchscreen is disabled in Windows. At some point after this, I have disassembled the computer.I have since moved to Austria, and I wish to solve my laptop's problems and am willing to pay a fee for the service. How can I do so? In addition, I have already bought a new SSD and more RAM to upgrade my computer, and am planning on installing Windows onto the SSD, however the Windows installer will detect the touchscreen and it will be impossible to click any buttons on screen.

I have a T43, one day  i cleaned the fan but then found its left button of touch pad and touch point doesn't work  anymore, i tried switching the left and right button funtion on the OS and then the left still doesn't work. Firstly, i think it may because wrong connection, so i detach the cover and reconnect all connectors...but soon find the Wireless Adapter which is fitted under the touch pad doesn't work well...Once i installed the driver for WLAN,  the OS is frozen and even i disabled the WLAN from OS, the OS is still forzen frequently.  Now i have to install a new OS and don't install drivers for WLAN, in addition, The LAN adapter works well.  During the reconnection, i cleaned the gold finger of WLAN using IPA...is it the root cause? wish sb can help me.

Answer:touch pad and touch point left button doesn't work,T43

Cleaning the WLAN shouldn't have caused the problem.  Recently someone posted on this site or thinkpads.com with a similar problem.  Do a search on both sites.

hi Hersh,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

First do a Power Drain
     (If the battery is removable)
Remove AC and Battery and hold the power button down for 15 sec.
Turn the computer back on and see if the Touch capability is now detected under System Properties,
                  If not
I suggest you contact Lenovo Technical Team about the Issue as this may be a device detection issue.

My Lenovo U410 Touch recently got damaged - the hinge broke causing the touch screen to **bleep**.I was told that a repair was not feasible as none of the repair shops near me were able to source the parts needed.I therefore bought a new laptop. However, there is a lot of data on the old laptop that I want to access, including sorting out the licensing of MS Office (by uninstalling from the old one).I cannot do anything about it as the old machine is completely unusable as due to the touch screen being cracked, it seems to think it is constantly being touched in multiple places on the screen. This means that I cannot access the laptop to copy the data or uninstall Office. Anyone know any way around this that doesn't involve taking it to a repair shop to "recover" my data. Cheers

I have the IdeaPad S510p touch, which seems to have a similar problem as other Lenovo models where the touch screen seems to stop working intermittently.  It seems to stop working after a while or after it has been sleeping.  It starts working again randomly.  I tried downloading a driver for a different model, but it didn't load or allow me to open it.  I just got this computer a few days ago.  I'm not sure if it is better just to take it back to the store, but I am concerned that this problem will exist even if I exchange it for a new one...

Answer:Touch Screen intermittently working (IdeaPad S510p touch)

Hello... I have an ideapad S510p, about 4 months old. Today, the touch screen stopped working. In the middle of using an app and using the touch screen. I searched all through settings and can't find anywhere to adjust its settings or anything. And in fact I saw that this computer "Has no touch/pen screen", which it does. Or it did until about an hour ago. I am relatively clueless but i'm learning. And would like some instruction/options. ThanksJohnpal716

Ok, so I got my Yoga 2 Pro 5 days ago. It was been working great until today. I turned it on and I noticed that the on screen volume indicator was active and at 100%. I pushed and held the volume down button and the indicator went down but as soon as I let it go, it goes all the way back up to 100% volume as if a ghost is making it happen. The volume indicator will not disappear. So I thought that maybe I did something wrong. I restarted the computer and nothing changed. Here is what else I've noticed: Volume indicator stays on all the time and will not disappearOn screen touch keyboard is inoperable, comes up but goes down immediately.Touchpad is unresponsive and swipe gestures don't work on the touchpad. The on screen start button (on the windows taskbar) doesn't work. Is not clickable. When I open apps, they open minimized and start blinking orange on the taskbar. In my office documents, when I right click, menu immediately disappearsI uninstalled and reinstalled the audio and touchpad drivers. Didn't work. It seems that something is either being depressed or is hungup or conflicting. I can't figure out what it is. I haven't tried much else, so I don't know if other features aren't working.  This is driving me crazy. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I've had this machine about about a week, so far I really like it.  Can't say yet that I love it yet, but it does what I need it to and the price is better than a tablet with the same functions and already has a keyboard.  This machine is kept in a padded case when not used in my desk drawer it does not bounce around in my briefcase etc.
This morning the left button on the touch pad does not work.  At first glance it sort of looks like it is caught on something or stuck, the right button works great a broken switch under the button is also possible but this thing doesn't move at all I'd think a switch would still move just not contact properly inside.  I need my machine and I've made a couple of upgrades like a SSD for the stock hard drive and a 8 gig ram chip, I am not thrilled about pulling those components in order to return for warranty replacement etc. as I'm pretty sure you won't be returning the same machine I sent in.  I'm considering pulling it apart to see if it is indeed stuck so it can be pushed back out from the inside but if this is a common issue with this machine I'd like to know that...
Can I be sent a new touch pad component, I believe I saw this is a separate board that attaches to the motherboard with a ribbon cable?  I'm not afraid of this procedure myself as I've been building desktops since the 90's and this is a really simple hardware to work on from the looks o... Answer:New week old Inspiron 11 3000 3558 (touch) stuck or broken button on touch pad--warranty parts replacement?

This is an fyi about the final resolution of this issue.  After a lot of arguing dell sent me what was supposed to be the touchpad but what I got was only the plastic palmrest no touchpad. Then because it's a "daughter card" I got more argument about the touchpad.  I got hot enough that I opened up the back, lifted out the battery, took out the two funky looking screws and the whole pad just fell right out of the machine.  The buttons seemed fine so I screwed it back down, put the battery back in and closed it up.  It's now great, the button was indeed hung up on the edge of the plastic palmrest.  This is a very well designed inside machine, it all screws down and all connections are with plugs or ribbon cables.  I wrote back to dell and told them they need to fire their tech manual writers because they're idiots, a monkey could have done this.  Apparently it is not easy to find only the mouse pad it's generally sold with the palmrest from what I can tell.  This whole machine is so well designed I scratch my head why the cpu isn't socketed unless they decided there was no room for a socket etc, which I can see that argument.  So if your mouse pad quits try popping it out first it may just be hung up.

Does anyone know the following about the 2015 X1 Carbon 2560 x 1440 screen? Does the touchscreen still have the same hazy film that prior generations had?  We have a couple of the older ones at the office and that hazy film makes it very fatiguing to read text.  Does the non-touch have the film?  Is the non-touch clearer and easier to read text on? Are the screens matte or gloss? I know lenovo doesn't recommend removing the film but it appears many people have removed it.  Is there any detriment to removing the film? Thanks in advance.

Answer:X1 Carbon 2015 (Gen 3) touch vs non-touch screen clarity

I have a 2015 X1 Carbon with the 2560x1440. I don't notice any hazy film over the screen (but I have heard that Lenovo coats it with something). It's a glossy screen but probably a bit less glossy than some others I've used. That said, the screen is fairly dim (I think max 270 nits) and I need to leave the brightness nearly all the way up which eats away at battery life. But at that setting, it's terrific for me.

The trackpad (from how it seems) causes Windows to switch to touch mode on the W541. What triggers touch mode?- Using the trackpad;- Unlocking the laptop. So why care if the W541 does not have any touch capabilities anyway?- Apps switch to touch mode which enlarges elements and makes work inefficient;- Websites switch to touch mode which makes certain web elements unusable;- The notifications button is moved off the screen for a while (see attachment);- The famous touch keyboard button shows up in the taskbar. What we have tried so far:- Updating all drivers provided by Lenovo;- Disabling tablet mode from Settings ? Tablet mode;- Disabling the Synaptics Pointing Device from Device Manager;- Disabling Human Interface Devices (even though nothing with ?touch? is listed here) from Device Manager;- Disabling all trackpad features from Synaptics. The way to work from the W541 is to use a mouse without ever touching the trackpad and to never lock the laptop which is ridiculous. Operating system: Windows 10 Enterprise (issue also confirmed on Windows 8)

Answer:Lenovo S210 Touch broken LCD and Touch screen

Hi Magnutus, welcome to the forums.

Please check if you Lenovo S210 is on warranty under with this tool.
After that you can open a ticket with Lenovo for the screen to be fixed, if it is not under warranty it will have a cost.

If you are the guys that like to fix it yourself (and it is not under warranty) I can recommend you to check the support site for your model, read the Hardware Maintenance Manual (on the documents area) and check how the machine is organized on the inside. On the parts lookup page you can find the parts number so you can find a replacements for the component that is giving you issues.

I hope this links helps you.

Or is also another motherboard needed?

Hi there, sorry to be a bother.Like the title says, my touch screen stopped working. I went on to my computer one afternoon and found my mouse stuck in the top left corner, fidgeting. This was what I was expiriencing. (My touch-screen still worked fine at the time, but I still couldn't do anything or control the mouse, but I could tell that it was still working and it still responded.) After a bit of time and a few restarts later, it went back to normal, but my touch-screen then stopped working. I'm used to the touch-screen working incorrectly occasionally, and much like the mouse thing, a restart or two helps. It has now been three days and my touchs-creen still does not work. I've tried many of the solutions found in these forums, but to no avail. I am running Windows 10 and have had this computer for 2+ years.  Thanks.
