Preferred Solution: X201 no finger touch and no pen

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have an x201 tablet and often use the pen with One Note. With Windows 10, it is impossible to lift the pen the slightest bit off the tablet without reactivating finger sensitivity. The result is that I get a bunch of scribbles from my hand touching the screen, and also inadvertantly hit other tabs etc while trying to write.Any suggestions?

i guys im new in the form. i ve got a lenovo x201 tablet.im wondering about the multi touch option.Does x201 tablet 3113-94U support multi touch or only pen. And also i coudnt find my model type in lenovo.thats kind of weird Thanks for everything

Answer:lenovo x201 tablet 3113-94U support multi touch??(pen & finger)

Hi, btoymus23

I did some research on your machine and found its entry in the Personal Systems Reference. Machine type 3113-94U does not support MultiTouch, unfortunately. This information can be found in the link on page CML3-4 (use Ctrl+F to find it faster.)

MultiTouch, however, means to be able to use three distinct points on a touchscreen at once, not being able to use different touch inputs. I think you should be able to use your fingers to touch objects on the screen, though the pen might be easier.

Hope it helps,
Adam

3093-bf8 does not appear in the tabook reference so it was probably a custom build. Most X201 tablets do not support finger touch, but you can find the screen FRU by entering your serial number here: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/product-and-parts/partsLookup.page

Can you use Monitor Mode with an X201? I have a displayport out from the M93z, an adapter with a VGA cable, going to either an X201 VGA port or a dock VGA port/dock displaypot via adapter. Can't get it to work. Any ideas?

Answer:M93z Touch Screen Monitor Mode /w X201/X201 Dock

DisplayPort out is for connecting second display to M93z. If you want to use M93z as a monitor, there is "VGA in" for that purpose.

Hello All - I just noticed that my multi-touch (not enhanced multi-touch) screen no longer responds to finger touch; just pen. It used to respond to both before i upgraded to Windows 7.I tried the Lenovo diagnostic check for the touch screen, and during the test, it only responded to the pen. What should I do? Is there a certain driver i'm missing or need to uninstall and then re-install?Thanks in advance.

Answer:Post Windows 7 Upgrade - Touch Panel Not Responding to Finger Touch (x200t)

Ok...I think i really screwed something up. As per a Lenovo support tech's advice, i installed the Windows 7 "Enhanced" Multi-touch Driver, even though i do not have the enhanced multi-touch screen, and this is what it says on Lenovo's site about this new driver: "*1: ThinkPad X200 Tablet models with the Multitouch are NOT supported." "*1: ThinkPad X200 Tablet models with the ENHANCED Multitouch ARE supported." So, i go ahead and install it. I notice that finger touch now works, but the pen setting are now all screwed up! The eraser no longer responds when i turn the pen around to erase. It actually INKS with the eraser as well! OneNote no longer automatically starts inking (or erasing) when i bring the pen (or eraser) into range. I have to manually click on the pen icon (or the eraser icon) on the tool bar to use these functionalities! *groan* In the Tablet PC Input Panel: no eraser functionality (it inks instead!!) and even the button on the pen (which previously had the right-click ability) only inks when pressed down! I think i made my situation worse...Please Help! Adam

I have ThinkPad X230 Tablet. It used to have non-functioning touch screen. I did something, and now the screen responds to pen input, but it doesn't work properly for finger touch. When I touch with finger, only thing it does is minimize or maximize window. When I change position of taskbar (with start menu and icons), it doesn't maximize/minimize.  I think this means that when I touch with finger, cursor clicks at bottom right corner of display, where there is button for maximize/minimize window

The fingerprint reader stays on when my laptop is asleep or off.  The green LED will be active, and when I slide my finger on it, the red one lights up. I believe the fingerprint reader is a usb device, so this could be due to the new bios option to enable usb power when the system is off.  The issue is that the LEDs are on even when my laptop is unplugged!  This is a useful feature to me for charging devices, but I don't want usb devices drawing power when my computer is unplugged. Any ideas?

Answer:X201 finger reader active with system off

this is a feature i believe. you can turn on the system and log on all at the same time with just a swipe of a finger.

Hi netbeans, welcome to the forum, afaik, X4* tablets didn't have this capability. Depending on model X6* tablets do.So if you want to give your tablet "the finger" it had better be an X6* tablet.

I am using windows journal a having problems that I can not turn off finger input when writing with a pen. The screen becomes insensitive to a finger when I am about an inch away from the screen with the pen, but this is not enough to avoid accidental dots and lines with your finger. Can one either configure the pen distance from the screen from which on finger touch is disabled? Or can one disable finger touch altogether? I have been following some discussions on forums providing some workarounds, but maybe there is a simpler solution around?138

Answer:X220 Tablet - No finger touch capability only pen :(

there are two types of X220t and X230t screens used one is both touch sensitive and uses pen digitiser, there is another one that is outdoor screen version that is only pen digitiser (so there is no finger touch capability).

I hope I'm not making a mistake, I have a 6364-BV2, I assume it's multitouch (as long as the pen works, should finger touch work as well?) and I'm not able to use my fingers to touch anything on the screen. It's the low-rez version... I tried installing the multitouch driver but for nothing... I have xp tablet edition... Is it possible that my tablet doesn't actually have multitouch (finger touch capability) and only the pen is supposed to work? Thanks

Answer:x60 multitouch issue: finger touch won't work

Not all screen are multitouch capable, the pen have a special proximty device that the sensors on a layer on top of the screen picks up, unless the screen also has an additional sensor sheet for your finger, it would not work with your finger... There are two types of screen option one is Multitouch and Non-multitouch in the XGA format, and SXGA format is definitely non multi-touch.

Hello everybody, this is my first post on this forum, from my first lenovo PC, so I'm truly a newbie. Just picked up my brand new x220t from a local reseller, and tried to configure it to fit my needs. During the process I realized I'm not able to configure the touchscreen nor use it. The digi-pen works fine though. 1. I've checked under Control Panel | Pen & Touch Devices. This window should have 4 tabs (the last on the right should read Touch), but it ain't there as if some functionality was missing. 2. I also tried to turn the touch screen on/off via Simple Tap. It does inform me that I'm about to switch the touch screen off (and as a matter of fact I'm not able to use it wth my fingers) but when I turn it on again the touchscreen still doesn't react to my fingers. 3. I've downloaded all the win7 as well as lenovo updates via the update managers, installed them and did a complete restart of the system - still no touchscreen. 4. Under device Manager I tried to find Wacom  devices, but couldn't find any. (the touch screen is a Wacom, am I correct?) 5. In despair I even started reading the pdf manual where one can read:  "Some models have the touch panel feature". This left me a little bit uneasy. Do ALL x220 convertible tablets have finger sensitive touchscreens? I have read the sticky thread about conventional vs. multitouch lenovo tablets, and I gather that the answer should be yes - all have finger input besides digi-pen. ... Read more

Answer:x220t - NYK27PB - no finger touch input

The models with the outdoor screen (the one that has a reinforced gorilla glass surface) don't have multi-touch, only pen support. If your model doesn't have the outdoor screen then it should have multi-touch support, if that is the case perhaps you should contact tech support? It's possible that it's just a hardware problem and needs replacing.  Also, the pen digitiser uses Wacom technology, as far as I'm aware the multi-touch system doesn't.

Hi, I have been baffled by this issue for quite a while now. I have a lenovo X220 tablet that supports both finger and pen inputs for touch. Originally this laptop came with windows 7 and everything was fine and dandy. I then bought windows 8/8.1 Pro 64-bit and did a clean installation of it. Now I only have pen support for the touchscreen, i.e. my finger is recognized as a pen/mouse not a finger which is really frustrating specially when scrolling. Now before I actually purchased the win8 license I had tried out the windows 8 release preview and everything worked perfectly then. So now when I got the actual release of the OS its not. Furthermore I currently have a dual-boot set up with windows 10 technical preview as my other OS and in there it also works perfectly fine as it should. This is important because when I contacted lenovo about the issue they suggested that my screen was broken, but clearly it is not.  Can anyone shed some light on this issue? It is a real shame not to be able to take advantage of this fine screen and windows 8 touch friendlyness.  Kind regards.

I am in an IT department at a small clinic in Idaho.  We have several X220's and X230's here.   There are several machines that have issues with the touch screen just stopping.  Nothing with the pen/finger will work.  The mouse still works, but nothing with the pen. We created a script that restarts the TabletInputService, the docs would run this script when the pen stops working.  That script works a majority of the time, but not always.  One of our docs just received a brand new X230 Type 3435-2TU 2 weeks ago.  She pen has stopped working several times in that two weeks.  She said that script only works a few times.  She has to reboot for it to work again....so rebooting works.  We can't have docs rebooting 3-4 times a day. Does anyone know of a permanent fix for this? Please help!!Desperate IT Guy!!

I have the default Alps touchpad built-in, and was recently ecstatic to find the driver for multi-touch on the Dell Support page, something I figured I'd never get privileged to since this doesn't have a Synaptics touchpad.
Everything works as it;s supposed to, as far as the options go under the Dell Pointing Devices menu. However, I noticed that two-finger options are missing, specifically a two-finger right click. This is odd, seeing as there are plenty of other two-finger options, and since two-finger right click has become a standard with multi-touch touchpads.
So my question is, is there anything I can do to get two-finger right click? I don't see any options officially provided by Dell, so I'm totally okay with installing software or drivers from somewhere else, as long as they work. I haven't been able to find anything myself, as it seems every driver and software in the world is developed with Synaptics in mind.

Answer:Two-Finger Right Click with Dell Multi-touch Touchpad?

I have the exact same question. I see that this was posted 3 years ago without a solution / reply :(

My finger print reader failed and a Lenovo support tech installed a new replacement. Now my PC won't start from the finger print reader although it works fine after I hit the start button.  I have had a few calls with the telephone service people and no one is able to address this problem.

Answer:Can't start X1 Carbon touch from finger print reader

Hi Lebouitz,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I?m really sorry to hear that you are not able to start your Lenovo X1 carbon Touch using the fingerprint reader.

I would suggest you to try the following steps.

To enable power-on passwords replacement:

Login as administrator.
Start Fingerprint Software.
Click Settings.
Click Authentication.
Check Always show power-on Security Option if power-on passwords are not set.
Check Use fingerprint scan instead of power-on and hard drive passwords.
Check enable single sign-on capability if you want to boot from power-on to windows without further fingerprint swipe or passwords.

Spoiler (Highlight to read)

To enable power-on replacement for fingerprint swipe:

Start Fingerprint Software.
Authenticate with password or enrolled fingerprint.
Click the Power-on slot on the top of the enrolled fingerprint.
Close Fingerprint settings and shutdown system.
On the first reboot you will be asked for your password and fingerprints. The second time you reboot it will only require your fingerprint.

I have tried updated the drivers on lenovo's website to no avail. Im currently using win7 prof. I have also tried using the thinkpads system update software and it still does not work. When i go try and calibrate the screen both finger and pen have no response on the screen. I have checked the system device manager and there are no conflicts. Please help!

Answer:X201T 2985-F4U -- Both finger touch and pen not working on screen

Hi and welcome to the forum!

The tabook says your model has multitouch (i.e. both pen and finger touch). Is this a new system you bought? If so, did you buy directly from lenovo? Did the touch ever work?

Try to install the following driver:- http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-74908

If the driver installation doesn't help, subsequently try Windows Update, look particularly for Touch Input driver, if even that doesn't take you anywhere, then give factory restore a go (after backing up your data), to do so, press ThinkVantage button on boot to access Rescue and Recovery, and choose restore to factory contents in the following wizard. Note that factory restore is only available on lenovo preloaded OS.

Keep us posted.

Hi I finally decided to upgrade my 4 year old Ideapad Y550 and I am quite happy with my U310 so far. One thing I would like to change though, I've gotten used to one-finger scrolling using my Y550 and I would like to have that back. Is there any way in the U310 to chage to one-finger scrolling from two-finger scrolling? Thanks!

Answer:Ideapad U310 Touch single finger scrolling

This is based on the Elan touchpad. Do you think the one finger scrolling is similar to the edge swipe? Maybe its not enable. Two or more finger scrolling is under multifinger configuration menu. But there is no scrolling option in One finger menu but only the edge swipe option.

I recently purchased a X201 Model 2985F4U.  It has the multi-touch Wacom Penabled display.  I know the display is pressure sensitive, but the driver does not seem to support it out of the box.  Is there an alternative driver out there?  I need both features.  I'm a Software Engineer that works on Multi-touch applications but I also do sketching of prototypes.  I need Photoshop to read the pressure.  This was my sole reason for getting this model. I've read some posts in the past about X200 having to use multiple manufacturers drivers such as Fujitsu and Wacom Bamboo.  I'm about to experiment with that if necessary.  I would rather have a driver that Lenovo Supports though.

Answer:X201 with Multi-touch. Why no pressure sensitivity on Pen?

I share your pain.  When I first purchased my x201T tablet, I tried a Wacom Bamboo driver that was recommended by a tablet review website and was supposed to enable pressure sensitivity.  Once the driver was installed, the multitouch completely stopped working.  I uninstalled that driver, and then to my dismay, both the multitouch and the pen stopped working.  I then downloaded and reinstalled the default driver from Lenovo and both multitouch and pen input were re-enabled (though still without pressure sensitivity, and upon the re-installation, when using multitouch, a virtual mouse image appeared on the screen.  After reviewing several books on Windows 7, I finally found one that explained how to turn off this virtual mouse, which is called a "touch pointer" in Windows 7 and can be toggled off by selecting "Pen and Touch" from the Control Panel and un-checking the "Show the touch pointer when I'm interacting with items on the screen".  Since holding a finger against the screen for a few seconds is equivalent to a right-click, I prefer not to have the touch pointer visible).  This all took several hours (I'm not an "IT" person and don't have much confidence when it comes to installing drivers), but if anyone has found a specific solution that works, I'd be interested.

Hi guys, few days ago i updated my system (x201 tablet w/ multitouch) with lenovo's update utility and installed all the normal windows7 updates. And a lot was messed up since then. most of it i could fix with google, or re-installing the drivers.. but here are two things i couln't fix, and I hope someone could help.Note: I've got the latest drivers installed and re-installed them several times. Before I start here are some changes I recognized. In my Systempanel under the category "Hardware and Sound" there are two new things wich wasn't there before. One is called "Touch-Properties" and the otherone "Pen Tablet-Properties". 1.)I am not able to re-calibrate my touchscreen. If I do it as I was used to following happens:- I am opening "Tablet PC-Properties" from the system Panel -> Hardware and sound.- pressing "calibration" for Touch- I get the error Mesage: "A supportet touchscreen was not found on the system." Multitouch is still working. but is a little off. So I wish i could calilbrate it. 2.)My Pen behaves like a mouse. Wich means the eraser does not work. And the pen-button behaves differently. When I press the button while i am hovering over the screen. It produces a right click. When I am pressing the pen down, no right click circle appears.Anyway, when I want to calibrate my pen following happens:- I am opening "Tablet PC-Properties" from the system Panel -> Hardware and sound.- pressing "calibration" for pen- the "Pen Tablet-Proper... Answer:x201 pen and touch are kind of messed up since update

Ok. I solved it. for all who encouter the same stuff here is how I did it: - deinstall drivers ONCE AGAIN!  (I went to: control panel, deinstall, ISD Tablett drivers, restart)- Then I deleted the folder "C:\program files\Tablett" in there are the driver remainings which wasn't deleted through the deinstall.- To be sure I went to Hardware-Manager. On the top there was an unknown device, wich is the just deinstalled Wacom multitouch device. I deinstalled it once again though the Hardware-Manager (which is probably useless... nevertheless this is what I did). After another restart I installed the newest multitouch drivers (7.02-19) which i downloaded from lenovos homepage... DO NOT USE LENOVOS UPDATE TOOL.. It didn't work for me.After the install, another quick restart and violá it worked. :-)Pen and Touch works. I can calibrate everything and can open Touch and Pen preferences in control-panel. bye

I'm befuddled. Two finger scrolling in Windows 10 dialogs, applications and Internet Explorer/Edge all works perfectly. However, Chrome is far too sensitive and the page blazes past. I can't adjust the scroll speed in settings because that affects all other apps (in other words they'll become way too slow!) Just to make matters more confused I've also got a Logitech mouse and the scroll wheel works fine everywhere - and this means if I install an extension in Chrome to configure scroll speed to work with the touchpad I will have slowed it down to a painful rate using the scroll wheel. Any clues how to configure Chrome two finger scrolling correctly? Is this an issue with the trackpad or Chrome?

Answer:X200 tablet how can I find out which models are finger touch compatible

Well I would say that the most empiric way to do it is just try to touch your screen on some dialog boxes or pictures where gestures would trigger a reaction from the computer..... Indeed it's not very easy to figure it out from Lenovo support website ... I tried the product number but this only gave back basic characteristics of the machine, not the exact type of display/screen  I know mine is wacom enabled and (finger) touch compatible and I think I figured this out by... trying  http://shop.lenovo.com/us/landing_pages/multitouch_technology

Hello. I have a Lenovo Yoga 2 from work and we use it to get customer signiture on a web browser page for the company I work for. however lately. when a customer is trying to sign in the signniture box, it just move the whole screen around in a similar way to moving the screen with your finger. the only way it writes is when you hold the stylus down for a scond or two and then write without lifting it. but every time it leaves the screen then the same problem happens again. I tried to fix it from the touch screen settings but nothing seems to work. and advice on fixing this is greatly appreciated.

My 7840's touch pad "One Finger Scrolling" functionality has become inconsistent.  It had been working fine by using the 'DellTPad.exe' application and selecting (if memory serves) 'one finger gestures'.  That option is now gone however one finger scrolling still works for awhile, and then fails and the only option to scroll using two fingers. A reboot fixes it for awhile then it starts all over again.  This problem coincided with a recent round of updates, though the touch-pad driver was not one of those updates.
Any ideas out there?

Just 2 days ago, a Lenovo staff on chat said that the X220 Tablet with Outdoor Display supports touch inputs but only for single finger actions.  He was very sure but then several posts on this forum seem to indicate that it has only the pen input. Can someone please confirm? 2. If the Outdoor model supports single finger input, is the display capacitive touch? 3. On the Multi-touch model, will the 2-finger scrollling, 5-finger gestures, etc. work in every application or is it application dependent? Thanks much for your help.

Hello, I am new to lenovo / windows, I used to have a Macintosh laptop and I just got the lenovo thinkpad x201 tablet laptop today through my school. I saw that it advertised both pen input and 'finger touch' input for the touchscreen, but when I try to touch the screen to select something in tablet or normal laptop mode, it does not recognize the touch no matter what I do. Also, I know there should be a "simple touch" menu brought up by double tapping 2 fingers on the screen, but that also does nothing. Does my laptop have the ability to use fingers to select things, or is it just able to use a pen? Sorry if this question is obvious, I'm new to windows / lenovo! Thanks a lot!

not all of the x201 tablets support the 'finger touch' some only support pen input. Does it allow you to touch the screen at all? I do not fully understand your post.

I just got a X201 Tablet with multitouch (2985-EYU). I saw that that Microsoft Touch Pack for Windows 7 was pre-installed, however when I try to run it I get an error "Multitouch Hardware is not available on your computer." Is this a known issue? I tried updating/'reinstalling the Wacom Two Finger Touch HID driver but I still get the same error. Thanks in advance!

Answer:Microsoft Touch Pack on Multitouch X201 Tablet

Hmm just an update, I had access to another X201 tablet fresh from the factory. I tried running the Microsoft Touch Pack and now it works--no error about multitouch device not detected. So then I tried running it on the original tablet, and now it also works. Kinda strange but I'm not complaining.  At quick glance it's mostly games. And there's a multiouch surface screensaver that mimics water. Pretty neat!

What I thoght was an issue with certain touch drivers might not be. After uninstalling the latest tablet pc touch drivers from wacom and installing some recommended drivers from the fujitsu site I ran into the exact same problem. I finally found out it always happens if I hibernate my latop. If I then restart the laptop everything is back to normal. After hibernation symptoms include:- Rotating the screen to anything other than the original direction has no calibration data.- Pen input not recognized as pen input, input panel does not appear. If I touch the panel with my finger the panel will appear docked on the side.- Unable to calibrate the pen, input just isn't accepted by the program. I have to hit ESC. Anyone else have this issue?

Answer:x201 Hibernate destroys touch panel settings.

I have not been able to use the touch screen functions for about a month now.  When you use your finger to select something on the screen it goes to the desktop and will not select the item you touched.  The only way the touch screen works is with the pen.  Also the screen will not rotate when you flip the screen into tablet mode.  I check for any new updates but the system is up to date.  This is driving me crazy as I need to have the touch screen working right for my business programs the are installed.

According to Microsoft on this site.... http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-8/multitouch-hardware-reqs "....If you have touch input hardware that isn't specifically designed for Windows 8 or Windows 8.1, but displays the "Designed for Windows" logo for Windows 7, you'll experience touch responsiveness at least as good as it was on Windows 7...." Based on that, I upgraded my Lenovo X201 Tablet with Windows 7 (kept up to date with Lenovo's System update, and windows update, and working well), and lost the touch screen and pen abilities completely. In system manager I have an unknown device, but no Wacom device in Human Interface Devices; and in control panel I don't have either "Pen and Touch", or "Tablet PC Settings". I tried installing the W7 drivers from the Lenovo site in Windows 7 compatibility mode, and it displayed the error "No supported tablet was found". Having failed the upgrade, I proceeded to do a clean install, and had exactly the same result. Must clarify the update was to Windows 8 Pro, then all windows and Lenovo updates, and the upgrading to 8.1 from the store, and all windows and Lenovo updates again. So I'm dumbfounded. If I lost the touch ability as advertised at least as good as it was on Windows 7...., I will go back to Windows 7. I posted this on the Microsoft site, and the Microsoft Engineer said that this happens when the hardware was not realy designed for Windows 7 ...  Just picked up a new X201 with multitouch, The error only happens when using my finger, best way to describe it is like the mouse button just gets stuck and keeps firing. It sort of resets if i touch the screen with the pen, but not always.  Its incredibly annoying, I've tried recalibrating, old drivers, new drivers, complete reinstall, just can't find a combination that works long term, so I've had to disable touch input which sort of defeats the purpose of the multitouch display. Anyone come across this problem? can't seem to find it on google or through searching the forum.  The pen works perfect, no issues, but just goes a bit crazy when using my finger. Cheers.

My X201T tablet mouse, stylus and multitouch functions worked well until about three weeks ago. Before this problem, when I changed orientation from landscape to portrait, the tablet and stylus adjusted to the changes just fine. Then some update happened either through System Update or through Windows Update or through me trying to keep current with the latest drivers. Now, this is my difficulty: When I change from landscape to portrait, the stylus gets confused, and the pointer is about 90 degrees and several inches off away from the stylus tip. When I go to calibrate the stylus functions, the calibration function does not work. When I go to calibrate the touch functions, it calibrates okay, but on the next reboot, I lose all use of the mouse as soon as the desktop loads. Neither the trackpoint nor the ultranav touch pad work and the mouse buttons don't work. I have mouse functions pre-deskop up until the user logon. The only recovery I have found is to do a "System Restore" to the most current restore point. Hello,
I recently purchased an XPS 15 9560, Windows 10 and am having the trackpad dead zone issue (the pointer does not move until I move my finger about 1/4"at which point it has perfect response / tracking / precision). Each time I start to move the pointer using the trackpad I must go through the dead zone prior to the pointer responding normally. The dead zone appears to be a circle around the spot that I touch the trackpad.
When I disable the HID trackpad device in device manager, this dead zone problem is eliminated. Is there a way to access the trackpad driver registry settings to see if there is something I can change that will eliminate the dead zone?
Alternatively, is there a way to find out which trackpad brand I have that will allow me to try a different driver? I tried the Synaptics fix but I was not happy with the two finger scroll performance even after changing the registry settings.
Thank you,
Joe

Answer:g50 70 trackpad eratic behavior glitchy choppy reads 3 finger and 2 finger

A couple of things to try......

First, try doing a reset of the BIOS by following the procedure I have listed below.  This procedure can help at times resolve hardware conflicts that maybe affect the way the system performs.  Just do this......

1. Unplug the charger / adapter. 2. Remove the battery. 3. Press and hold the Power Button for 15 seconds. 4. Re-install the battery, plug in the charger / adapter if needed and power up the system to see if the problem was resolved.

If the reset didn't resolve the issue then I would next suggest that you uninstall the touchpad driver, reboot the computer and then install a fresh copy of the driver.  A clean install is the best way to try and resolve driver related issues.

I just upgraded my Yoga 2 Pro to windows 10 and my touchpad was acting crazy--for example, I could only get a window to scroll when it was out of focus.  I tried reinstalling my touchpad drivers, and it took about 5 attempts to get it working at a basic functionality.  However, this process caused an egregious change to basic scrolling behavior.  When I used to scroll with two fingers, I could stop scrolling by lifting one finger, and my mouse would return to being a cursor.  Now, when I lift one finger, it continues to scroll, and it will only stop scrolling once I lift the second finger.  So if I'm moving my cursor around, and I drop a finger down for just a brief moment, I won't stop scrolling until I completely remove my hand from the touchpad. I tried reinstalling the driver, I tried installing the Lenovo Windows 10 touchpad driver, (64-bit)

Answer:Y2P: Two Finger Scrolling Doesn't Stop After Lifting One Finger

I have the exact same issue and I've played with every single setting but still no solution. Were you able to find a solution? Or have you still been using it that way for the past three months?

I just bought a Yoga 3 14" and I have an issue with the touchpad: when I use the two finger scrolling function, it doesn't stop scrolling unless I lift both fingers off the touchpad. All other notebooks I have used before stopped scrolling when I lifted just one finger, alowing me to resume controlling the pointer with just one finger. This is very annoying, and I would like to know how to change this behaviour.

Thanks

Hi,

I have a Portege Z30-A-183.
First I used it with W7 and I saved 3 fingers in the biometric finger sensor .

After that I updated to W8.1 but I didn't deleted the data of the scanned fingers.

In W8.1 I haved triy to save again the data of my fingers but the software said that it is not possible beacause in the memory of the sensor are the data of my fingers.

I haved read that these data are in a non volatile memory on the sensor.

How I can erase this data?

Thanks

Answer:Portege Z30-A-183 - Erase Finger data in Finger Sensor

Hi

Yes the fingerprint information is not saved on the Hard Disk Drive (HDD) of your computer but on the certain chip.

Usually the fingerprint has to be removed using the Fingerprint Utility but if this will not work after the new OS installation, I would recommend you to go back to the previous state before changing the system and to use the fingerprint software which was used for fingerprint registration.

Details here:
http://www.mytoshiba.com.au/support/items/faq/386

But in case the fingerprint would not work even using the Win 7 version, I think that only Toshiba authorized service provider would be able to delete the already registered fingerprints.

So.. why is it that everything in Windows 8 with a horizontal scrollbar is double finger scroll??? Except the home screen... I can do one or the other but consistency of it would be nice.

Is it a setting or is it one of those, "It is what it is..", kind of deals.

Answer:Windows 8 Double Finger vs Single Finger

Why slide to unlock with a mouse? Why the mix of horizontal and vertical scrolling? Why are buttons buttons sometimes and random bits of text other times?

I think it's because a bunch of different people made it. People who don't really talk to each other.

After using two finger scrolling, I lift 1 finger up so I can use the mouse pointer but for a second it continues to scroll instead of being able to use the pointer. Anyone have this issue?

I have an x201 i7-620 with 8GB RAM, 160GB SDD, Windows 7 64 bit. My bluetooth works for about 30 minutes, then stops working for about 10, then comes back, then goes, etc etc. So I keep having to switch keyboards and stop using my mouse. Also, my wifi device (Advanced-N 6250 AGN) was suddenly no longer detected today. Fn+F5 only shows bluetooth now (it used to show bluetooth, wifi and WAN (3G)). All three lights are switched on on the laptop itself. Why would this happen? Any suggestions? This laptop also had the random contrast issue, which seems to have been fixed by updated drivers. It also has that annoying faint buzzing sound coming from the top left part of the keyboard. It also random freezes every couple of days, requiring a cold boot. Thinkpads used to be the top of the range in terms of build quality and reliability. This is simply not good enough. I don't think I will ever buy Lenovo again. Oh, look, Bluetooth is back. What do you know.

I am using Win7 64bit. SebX201

Answer:X201 change current DDR3 memory - rebuilding X201

Hi SebX201,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

As per the query we understood that you are looking for the memory up-gradation for your ThinkPad X201.

As your system is 1st gen your system won?t supports PC3-12800S, my suggestion is to go for 2x4Gb DDR3-1333 10600 only, and if you are looking for FRU # 55Y3717.

Hope this helps.

Best regards,
Hemanth Kumar

I'd like to upgrade the display on my x201 laptop. The outdated TFT display is getting a bit old. And I could use some expert advice - or even intelligent guesses as to whether certain LCD panels will work in the x201 laptop. The usual advice to upgrade a x201 laptop display is to go with a Hydis AFFS (similar to IPS) display e.g. the HV121WX4-120. Or alternately a Samsung PVA display e.g. the LTN121AP02-001. These are CFFL panels, so given my LED laptop, I'd also need an inverter (42W8009 or 42W8010) and CFFL variant cable e.g. 44C9909.  Okay great. But for various reasons I'd very much prefer to retain the WLED backlight, rather than change to a CFFL display. There are any number of forum posts saying that this isn't possible. But that appears to be refuted by some well documented threads that describe successful retrofits of better spec LED backlit panels in their x201 laptops e.g. using a Samsung LTN121AT07-L02 (27R2451) WLED LCD. With that thought in mind, I'm trying to discern whether a x201 tablet screen will work in my x201 laptop? e.g. a Samsung LTN121AP0310 or Toshiba LTD121KX6B-110 LCD. These are multitouch LCDs. I'm not counting on the multitouch to be operational. Just whether the LCD screen will work in a conventional manner in the laptop. Has anyone heard of these panels being retrofitted into a x201 laptop? Or spot any obvious impediments to using them in the laptop?    --Stock (original) x201 laptop LCD: Au Optroni... Read more

Answer:Upgrade x201 laptop.. with a X201 tablet screen?

Have you performed the transplant before? If so, whats the secret to getting the LCD bezel back on properly? Lenovo's contracted on site "technician" botched it twice for me. Any pointers I can relay to them when they try again? Am tired of incompetent novices working on my hardware.

We purchased many X201 for business usage recently. Usually, we will install win XP Pro SP3 OS in a new laptop manually, and then make a clone image by Ghost or Acronis. So we can deploy the OS to the rest of laptops rapidly. (It works with X200, X200s, X60, X40 before) However, we have a problem with X201 by the same way.1. Ghost disk to disk clone: Each cloned OS can not boot (After Lenovo screen, it shows  jumping white courser on the left-top black screen2. Acronis network image deploy: X201 network card could get IP and booting, even connect to Acronis server, but it stucks in loading Acronis image It seems Lenovo add some tricks in HD or motherboard of X201....Does anyone have the same problem?   Please kindly help~~ Thanks a lot                                                                                                                                                                    KDLin

3000 N100, the finger print device can not be found when trying to set up profiles.  The computer had been restored to new state using the function key at startup. I deleted programs I did not want after that but the Think Advantage was left as is, I believe.  I can get as far as trying to create finger print profiles, then I get the finger print device can not be found. I am XP SP3 E/.Message Edited by EmClark on 05-19-2009 10:42 AM

This morning, I decided to make the jump to Windows 10 from Windows 8.1, and I have to say, the design looks simpler to use, but this new OS software has done something with my touchpad. Originally, on my Windows 8.1, I was able to scroll through whatever web pages or folders in my computer with one finger using my touchpad. With this new update, initially, I thought it broke my touchpad completely, but the problem has been narrowed down to having to now use two fingers to scroll in the most awkward way as this touchpad doesn't seemed to be designed for two finger scrolling. Is there a way for me to change this back? Would I have to revert back to Windows 8.1 to get my one finger scrolling back?

The laptop I am using is a Gateway NE56R34u, and the touchpad is an ELAN. Any and all help would be much appreciated.

Answer:How to change from two-finger scrolling back to one-finger scrolling?

Would Gateway drivers for their touchpad be one area to explore ?

I was looking at a Logitech touchpad, and it appears their drivers are what controls the response/numbers of fingers/digits.

I am enticed by the lower ThinkPad X201 3249-2SU pricetag.  What am I really losing in purchasing the 2SU - it still has the Core i5 i5-540M 2.53GHz chip. Or should I go for the Lenovo - ThinkPad Edge 031946U 15.6" LED Notebook - Intel Core i3 i3-380M 2.53 GHz. I'm leaning toward the cheaper X201 3249-2SU which I can upgrade later. Thoughts?

I know that you can play games like XCOM and Master of Orion II on a touch screen laptop, though I was wondering: can I play something like XCOM, while still using touch to play the game?

Answer:Can a touch screen laptop play non-touch screen games...with touch?

I play World of Warcraft which was definitely not designed for touch screen and can interact with the interface just fine on my yoga.
