X230 tablet locks at ThinkPad screen when startup in docking station, TSM Resident also quits.

Question: X230 tablet locks at ThinkPad screen when startup in docking station, TSM Resident also quits.

I have an issue that is plaguing my ThinkPad X230 Tablet. I cannot afford to be without it for a week to send it into the depot and am not sure they will be able to replicate the issue even if I do. Two things are happening. Tablet is placed in the docking station. If I turn it on, it will lock up at the ThinkPad screen and never fully load Windows (Win 7 64-bit). If I take it out of the docking station, hard crash it, and then restart, it will start right up. I then wait for the Windows home screen and place back in the docking station. When I do this, TSM Resident immediately quits. This is recurrent. The error message is: TSMResident has stopped working Problem signature: Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: TSMResident.exe Application Version: 6.32.0.0 Application Timestamp: 4f2235b0 Fault Module Name: TSMResident.exe Fault Module Version: 6.32.0.0 Fault Module Timestamp: 4f2235b0 Exception Code: c0000005 Exception Offset: 0000471f OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.48 Locale ID: 1033 Additional Information 1: 0a9e Additional Information 2: 0a9e372d3b4ad19135b953a78882e789 Additional Information 3: 0a9e Additional Information 4: 0a9e372d3b4ad19135b953a78882e789 Read our privacy statement online: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=104288&clcid=0x0409 If the online privacy statement is not available, please read our privacy statement offline: C:\Windows\system32\en-US\erofflps.txt First off, what could be causing the hang up when the Tablet is in the docking station?Second, what is TSM Resident and how do I get it to stop crashing when I put the tablet into the docking station? I plan to call a local Lenovo service center to see if I can bring everything in to them (monitor and peripherals included) to see if they can fix it, but would like to know if anyone has experience fixing this type of problem first as that is a lot of work to drag dual 27 inch monitors, external drives, USB router, etc in so they can see the exact setup. Thank you. Bill

Preferred Solution: X230 tablet locks at ThinkPad screen when startup in docking station, TSM Resident also quits.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

The reference guide is not very clear.  Is the X230 Tablet compatible with any of the USB 3.0 docking stations: ThinkPad Port Replicator Series 3 with USB 3.0 (433615W)ThinkPad Mini Dock Series 3 with USB 3.0 (433715U - U.S.)ThinkPad Mini Dock Plus Series 3 with USB 3.0 ? 90W (433815U - U.S.)ThinkPad Mini Dock Plus Series 3 with USB 3.0 ? 170W (433835U - U.S.)Officially, according to the guide it only shows the ultrabase, however when you search for accessories by selecting the X230 Tablet it brings up others, but not the USB 3.0 series.  The X230 Laptop is compatible. Although it may not be worth the price as it seems to only have 1 USB 3.0 port and the rest are 2.0, price seems to be a $40 premium for the 1 USB 3.0. When it is on the docking station does it lock out the native USB ports in the chassis of the X230T?  An older Toshiba I had reccomended against using the Laptops USB when docked. Thanks

Answer:X230 Tablet Docking Station Compatability

"Officially" X230T does not work with any mini docking station or port replicator. If you still prefer mini docking station than ultrabase, then you can take a look: http://forum.notebookreview.com/lenovo/638559-x220-tablet-minidock-series-3-plus.html

We have 2 new models of laptop which have an issue when connected to a docking station/external monitor. Our laptops are X230 and T430 (i'd post in the T forum but it's full of spam!) Our laptop's screens flicker intermittently, which can be anywhere from every 30 seconds to every 3 minutes. We have tried swapping the dock/cables but results are varied. Has anyone else seen this?

Answer:X230 Docking Station Issue - Screen Flashing

Hi, TheMagic89

What docking station(s) and external monitor(s) are you attempting to connect the laptops to? Also, when connected to the external monitor(s) are the laptop screens flickering, or are the external monitor(s) flickering? Finally, can you be more specific on the varied results?

Thanks in advance,
Adam

Hi, peha

Have you made sure that all your drivers are up to date, particularly BIOS and audio? I would recommend making sure those are up to date and see if that helps your issue. You can find all the drivers for your system here.

Hope it helps,
Adam

I have just completed a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate and all went well except for the screen brightness issue. Anyone have any ideas where I can simply increase this as I have searched everywhere for screen brightness, even BIOS for any setting for display. I have latest update to display driver. I have two other laptops and each shows much brighter than this one and I am surely disappointed in this display. Not sure if it is because this screen is touch enabled and also works off keyboard that could be the issue and a separate setting could be involved on the touch side of the display as it does work with a stylus pen or touch also. thanks and   I hope I can get this brightness to increase somewhat as it is too hazy for me.

I am new to the Lenovo products, and we recently purchased a few X230's and a few T430's.  The X230's have an ultrabase (I think that's what it's called) and the T430's have a mini dock series 3.  We seem to have some issues with the external monitors displaying native resolution when a) the lid to the laptop is closed and b) when it wakes up from sleep mode and was docked before waking up. I am trying to find out what the designed behavior is for these docks when using external dual monitors (extended displays).  Most users have a main wide screen external display with an older 19" non-wide screen secondary display in extended desktop mode.  Other users have just one external wide screen display and they keep their laptop lid open and use the built in display as a secondary extended display.  When they leave the lid open and use the built in screen, it typically is problem free...it's only when they close the lid where the screens don't go to naitive mode and the user has to go into the screen resolution settings and setup the extended desktop (again).  I need to do some more testing, to get the exact behaviors, but quite a few users have complained and I am just trying to find out if other people have figured out how these docking stations are supposed to handle external monitors. Thanks for any help.

When the X230 is on its docking station, the VGA port behind the docking station works, but the built-in VGA output seems to be disabed. Is there a way to activate the internal VGA and have 2 VGA outputs work at the same time? I was hoping to use 2 external monitors with the X230. My monitors are very basic, only connection is VGA IN, no additional connector available for daisy chain. I know that I can use the laptop's monitor + 1 external monitor, but what I want to do is 2 external monitors. Also, I don't want to invest in anything (new cables, converter, etc.) because I have access to the X230 only for a limited period. Don't mention VGA spliter as I want to extend my desktop, not duplicate it. My X230 is running Windows 7.

Answer:X230 on docking station, how to activate the built-in VGA port?

Ho pplo, welcome to the forums,

the VGA on the notebook is disabled when docked; if you like the signal is diverted to the VGA on the docking station.

There are several threads on this subject, but basically you will need to invest in at least one new cable or adapter to realise your goal, or a display with a display port.

I recently purchased an X61 tablet and I did not opt to purchase the accompanying dock.  When I look at the accessory store I only see the X6 Ultra Base, which appears to be different from the base offered on the configuration page (It is also a different price).  Does this mean that the dock is not available through Lenovo's store? Also, could anyone clear up the docks features?  Everything that I read about it seems to be somewhat vague about whether there is any kind of optical in the dock or whether it has to be purchased separately. Thanks.

Answer:X61 tablet docking station questions.

I have the X6 Ultrabase, works great with ports and all.  No drives in it though.  I lay my X61 front edge first into the dock and it locks in when I lower the back end.   All in a second and the red light lock lights up.   Click on Start-Undock in Windows before remoing.   I have a separate DVD Burner (not included in a dock) that I can hook directly into the tablet or the docking USB port.  Has all the features of a basic docking station without drives.

I contacted Lenovol support and they send me a replacement unit. The the replacement unit has the same problem. Thinkpad Thunderbolt 3 docking station does not charge Thinkpad P51 battery.  I need to plug in the power adapter for both docking station and notebook.  Does anybody have similiar problem?

Answer:Thinkpad Thunderbolt 3 docking station does not charge Thinkpad P51 battery.

Everbody's p51 would be the same.  The thunderbolt port won't work as a charging port.  The thunderbolt specs specify 100w max.  That's not enough.  Your thunderbolt port is not for charging.  To charge via the dock, you need a workstation dock, not a thunderbolt dock.  A thinderbolt dock can charge things like an x1 carbon (5th gen) or x1 yoga (2nd gen)

When in the docking station, my X41 Tablet beeps continuously.  The pattern is three beeps and a pause, repeating every roughly 2 seconds.  This happens when the tablet is started up in the docking station or if it's started up off the station and inserted afterwards.  It doesn't happen every time it's docked -- maybe 75% of the time, and I can't figure out the pattern for when it fails.  The beeping will stop the second I undock the laptop.  This is a long-standing problem (> 1 year).  Does anybody recall this problem and a solution for it? Details: The tablet's running XP Tablet edition and has factory sound cards

Hello,I'm currently having problems with the docking station. When I plug the power cord into the docking station, I don't see the LED light turn on to indicate its charging or charged. When I plug it into the tablet portion, I see its LED light turn on. My main problem is that when I dock the tablet onto the docking station, it automatically turns off. I can only use this in tablet mode. Is my docking station broken? This was working fine before. I didn't make any recent updates to it. My laptop was sitting on my table turned on and then I went to use and saw that everything had turned off. Once I undock it from the docking station, I can power it back on.

Hi!
I have a Latitude E7740 that runs Ubuntu Xenial (16.04). I dock it to a "Dell EURO2 Advanced E-port II" docking station.
If I boot it in the docking station, everything works fine, and I find all my two DVI-connected monitors.
However, if I undock, then put it into the dock again while running, it fails to enable the screens. I'm using a script called autorandr for switching between display modes - it uses xrandr. It tries to run:
xrandr --output DP1-1 --gamma 1.0:1.0:1.0 --mode 1920x1200 --panning 0x0 --pos 0x0 --rate 59.95 --reflect normal --rotate normal --output DP1-2 --gamma 1.0:1.0:1.0 --mode 1920x1200 --panning 0x0 --pos 1920x0 --rate 59.95 --reflect normal --rotate normal
But the X server responds with:
X Error of failed request: BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)  Major opcode of failed request: 140 (RANDR)  Minor opcode of failed request: 21 (RRSetCrtcConfig)  Serial number of failed request: 48  Current serial number in output stream: 48
Running this exact command after booting in the dock is doing the right thing, but after undocking then docking, it doesn't work.
Any ideas here? I have updated to the latest BIOS version.
Problem also reported in launchpad with lot's of debug info, here:

Autorandr script is here: github.com/.../

When booting up my X200 tablet on an ultrabase docking station, I get a blinking cursor in the top left of my screen for about a minute before the Thinkpad flash screen is displayed. The tablet then boots normally .  When I boot up my X200 tablet undocked, the flash screen comes up straight away with no delay.  I've checked the boot order to make sure that the HDD is the primary device. My tablet is flashed to the latest BIOS (3.11).  Grateful for any ideas or suggestions.

H Guys, I found it extremely frustrating that I couldn't find this information on Lenovo's website. Battery options for the X230T (tablet version) are different to the X230 (non-tablet version). The battery is a different shape for the tablet version and a totally different battery. In addition, I did not realiase that I can NOT use my existing Series 3 4337 Docking Station with my new tablet. This information is for the Lenovo X230T Tablet Version: Battery Options: 3 Cell Flat Battery (Part No. 0A36316)The Lenovo T230T has the option of a snug fitted 3 cell battery. If that doesn't do it, then right-click your desktop, choose properties to display the Display Settings. Click on the settings tab and select dual monitor from the drop down radio button. Check the extend my monitor ... or something of that sort. Then go back and repeat the first step.

Currently, I have two monitors, one running at a resolution of 2048x1152, and the other one running at 1680x1050. I'm just now seeing that the limitation for the DVI ports is 1920x1080, so I'm guessing that won't work to hook these up.  My other route that I can go is by buying a DVI to DisplayPort cable, and then hooking them up that way. Lenovo's site claims that the dock has "Two DisplayPorts supporting 2560 x 1600 resolution," but would that mean I can hook up (these) two displays simultaneously? Inside the W520, is the NVIDIA Quadro 2000M Graphics with 2GB DDR3 Memory.  Thanks in advanced! -Joe

Answer:ThinkPad W520 Docking Station

well the real limitation of the single link dvi port is actually the 2048x1152 @ 60 hz, but this resolution monitor is seldomly used so they just use WUXGA or FHD as the stated maximum, 30 inch or 27 inch high resolution LCD uses dual link dvi (which is not supported by the dock dvi).

You can hock up two displayport monitors up and still run the internal LCD, since the new W520 uses the optimus graphics technology.

I'm on dual monitor with Lenovo Docking station where my Thinkpad P51 shows 95% charge and it says "Not Charging" - I thought it always charge when we dock it. Is there any power management setting i need to look into? I checked on Lenovo Setting App and then click on Power where it shows 95% Charged. When i scroll further down i noticed that my threshold hoption is OFF so should i assume that 95% is Lenovo factory setting or it has to do with my WIndow 10? Please advice.

I'm thinking your NTLDR file might be corrupt.

I have a think pad P70 computer and the thickpad docking station. I like when on the docking station to have the computer closed and just use the two monitors hooked up to the docking station. If I dont have the display open everything goes to sleep and my two monitors are not on. How do I configure the computer to stay on when plugged into the docking station so the two monitors work even when the computer display is down. I dont need the computer display to work when I have the two monitors working. When I have the plug the computer into the docking station with the display closed the power button on the docking station does seem to work the way I am commonly used to using a docking station. New set up. This is probably some configution I need to change but I dont know what to do. thanks for any guideance!! Scott

I have had the Ideapad Y510p laptop and recently added the Thinkpad docking station.   I am trying to solve two problems I am having with this "docking station".  (1) I would like to keep the laptop shut and power up the system from the docking station only and (2) I only want to use the external monitor.  I do no want to use the laptop monitor. In both cases, the laptop has to be opened, powered up and remain open to prevent the system from going to sleep which seems to be exactly the opposite of what a docking station should allow.  Any suggestions or is there a configuration step I've missed? Thanks in advance,Gilbert

Hi, kmoses0815

Sorry to hear you're having this issue. I have a few questions so that I can better help in hopefully solving the issue.

1) Are you saying your computer only works if it is in the docking stiation?
2) When it does work, is the display working on the both monitors, or just the external?
3) When you try it from outside of the docking station, does anything work? Are there any lights, sounds, etc.?

Best,
Adam

I have a t42 and t43 thinkpads, both are having the same problem. The keyboards appeared to be disabled, I have uninstalled, reinstalled drivers etc. Reseated keyboards physically and they still wont work. The glide pads work. The only way I can get a keyboard to work in via the docking station. Power buttons doesn't work either. Any ideas? It's almost like the keyboards are disabled, but I have checked every setting possible. Is it possible to disable the keyboard? Hello, I am starting a new job where I will b working from home. Before my orientation, I purchased two monitors for my home office. I am currently at my orientation for this week and was just provided my work laptop (ThinkPad T460). My question is: what docking station or stations are available for me to purchase where I can plug my two monitors into the station and be able to use both the monitors AND laptop at the same time. I am not the most techy person, so you may have to dumb down your responses. I've read several reviews on Lenovo docking stations and some people are saying their monitors will only work with the laptop shut or if the laptop is open then only one of the monitors will work. I want both monitors AND the laptop to be able to be used at the same time. Are you able to point me in the right direction to the right docking station or docking stations that would allow me to accomplish this for my home office? Thank you very much in advance!

Hi, I owe a T410(2516) running Windows 8 with Samsung 830 SSD.Recently, I purchased the mini dock plus series 3 and currently I hooked 3 different monitors up and running. I have thinkpad x230 tablet, and I have mixed feeling about it. It is a quite powerful one, does most of the job but have too many design flaws - broken rubber latch after a while and rubber buffers in the bottom etc.,  I hate the new gen x240 laptop, especially the X series convertible laptop is discontinued. Stupid, in my opinion, yoga design. I, no way, want to flip the keyboard to any surface. Especially on a field trip. X240 discontinues Express Card slot, no thunderbolt, no digitizer. The removal of trackpoint 3 click buttons, which were combined with the trackpad. People complain a lot when they accidentally click the trackpad while typing. Hello Lenovo Support Forum! I have a Lenovo Thinkpad T43, type 1875, running Windows XP.  I also own an IBM Thinkpad docking station, type 2878. Recently, while my laptop is docked to the docking station the T43 speakers make occasional brief pulsed static sounds. They do not make this sound when the laptop is used off the docking station. Additional information:  I had not used the docking station for a while and, when I docked my laptop to it yesterday, devices I connected to the usb ports on the docking station could not be recognized. This problem was solved by unplugging the docking station power cord for 30 seconds then plugging it back in. How can I now fix the static sound problem? The static bursts are not very loud, but are irritating and make me not want to use the docking station. Thanks! Casd  Update: It is primarily when USB devices are attatched to the laptop ports OR the docking station ports that the static bursts are heard.

I have recently purchased the 433835U Docking Station and have the same issue in which when I have my W520 docked, NONE of the USB ports work at all. In Device Manager, I have an Unknown Device with the Hardware Ids of: USB\VID_17EF&PID_100A&REV_0000 and USB\VID_17EF&PID_100A. Yesterday I had a technician come on-site and replace the motherboard on my W520 and I am having the same results. Hello, I have just joined this forum because I need to know some technical details of Docking Station Series 3 model number 4338. My laptop is ThinkPad W520 (i7-2760QM Quad Core + NVIDIA Quadro), equipped with 170 W power adapter. I need to buy the docking station, and because I'm on a budget, I'm looking for the used ones. I have found few, but all of them are marked as 20V, 4.5A DC - it seems like they were designed for 90W power adapter equipped models (they seems to be the 4338-10 apparently, and as far as I know, I need the 4338-30). All the photos from sellers' offers show me that the yellow power socket will not accept my power adapter plug. The adapter plug has two "ears" - small "bars" inside the yellow plastic insulation of the plug, but the docking station power socket does not have the grooves, it is just round. My question is - can I still safely use the docking station after modification of the yellow power socket to be able to handle my power adapter plug? I was thinking about using some small file to make the grooves by myself. But the question is whether the internal components of the docking station will handle the significantly higher current load?Is there a chance that these two versions of 4338 model (10 and 30) have the same internal components and are just equipped with different yellow power socket?

Answer:Will 90 W Series 3 Docking Station handle the 170 W load of ThinkPad W520?

Officially, no.Unofficially, break off the extra plastic bits on the barrel, and it will work fine.

Hi, My X230 Tablet Laptop (ThinkPad) is not turning on anymore. I have tried all different hints I knwo and I could find but it just won't start. I am trying to find the resetbutton now does anybody know where to find it? Or has another idea how to get it to turn on? Thanks

Answer:X230 Tablet Laptop (ThinkPad) not turning on

Unplug.  Pull the main batery.  disconnect the CMOS battery for 5 seconds.  Press the power button a couple of times to drain capacitors and put everything back the way it started.

I have a new T440S with the Intel HD 4400 graphics card connected to two ThinkVision LT2252P monitors with a new Thinkpad Pro Docking Station.  One monitor is connected via DVI the other is VGA.  I have already replaced the docking station once thinking that is the problem. The monitors will black out a dozen times per day.  I have replaced the docking station and verified that I have the latest drivers per the Lenovo site.  The Intel Video driver installed is 9.18.10.3272.  This is the most current per Lenovo.  There are newer drivers on the Intel site but when I try to load them the message tells me that I have the latest driver. Can anyone tell me why?  This appears to be a problem others are experiencing.

Hello I've got some issues with the network connection when leaving the notebook unattended, while it's still in the docking station. The Thinkpad is a T400s (2815-A32). The docking station is a "Series 3 Mini Dock Plus" with the 90 watt power supply. When the notebook is left unattended while still in the docking station, then after some time (5, maybe 10 minutes) the network connection (lan) gets disabled and thus any ongoing traffic gets interrupted. (Using the lan connector on the docking.)However, if I leave the notebook while it's not in the docking station, the network connection (again lan) doesn't get disabled. In that case everything works fine and all downloads continue as they should. (Using the lan connector directly on the notebook.) I haven't been able to figure out what causes that behaviour. The same energy profiles are set in the energy manager which are basically no energy saving at all (no stopping harddisk, no standby and especially no suspending to disk). And the "Allowing disabling of hardware for energy saving purposes" for the network adapter is disabled in the hardware settings, too. But for some reason the lan port at the docking gets disabled (which I assume is for energy saving purposes). Is there some option I've overlooked in the energy manager to change this? Best Regards,Moskito

Answer:T400s: Interruption of Network Connection while unattended Thinkpad is in Docking Station

hey Moskito, could you uninstall the Power Manager software and see if it happens again ?also, i suggest going to http://support.lenovo.com and check that your bios, network card driver and the rest of your system is updated.

I have three displays that are working, two from samsung and my laptop display.  a fourth display is not being detected. (It was detected previously).  I've updated drivers for the monitors and the displays but no luck. I've rebooted the system as well. displays are connected via the display port, the vga port and one of the dvi dual ports.  I'm running windows 10.

This is already the fourth time I have this situation and several other collegues here. We have the newest T520 and docking station. (everything new) and when clicked on power on the docking nothing is displayed on the external screen. Also I see that the computer is not 100% stable on the docking but this is normal... Is this a software problem or hardware as others have the same situation?

Answer:T520, docking station and Windows 7 startup

you mean nothing is displayed on the DVI/Displayport connected LCD screen? Also, what graphics card does your machine have?

Added a new external Eaxer Dual Bay Docking Station (also has built in USB 3 hub). The directions/instructions that came with it are pretty short and pretty basic. My issue is if I restart (or startup from system power off) while the docking station is powered on...the 2 HDD's do not show up in 'This PC', 'Device Manager'...etc

If I power off the DS...restart (or power on) Windows...then switch the DS power back on...presto...the drives are in This C, disk management, etc ?

Is this normal behavior for docking stations...and why would the Docking station need to be powered on after the PC is started in order for the drives to be recognized. ??

Thanks....TiminAz

Hi, I am currently using the ThinkPad Mini Dock Plus Series 3 - 170W with 2 x 1920x1080 displays @ 60Hz a display. I am doing so by connecting one of the monitors to the DVI-D output on the docking station and 1 to a USB to HDMI converter (I was having issues with the VGA for some reason). I also use the laptop display as a third screen in the setup. What I am looking to do is purchase 3 x 2560x1440 displays and have the docking station power all 3 of these @ 60Hz. I understand that I can only use 2 display ports to do this so I intent to add a USB32DPPRO to achieve this, however my question is will they all run @ 60Hz. I have found this link which confirms I can run 2 displays at the resolution I'm after, but it does not mention anything about the refresh rate. https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/gb/en/solutions/migr-76767.  I'm just a little confisued as when you start looking at refresh rates on 4K for example, it says you can only run 1 screen @ 60Hz and if you add another screen the refresh rate drops to 30Hz for both. This is when used with the ThinkPad Workstation Dock 230W. More information here https://support.lenovo.com/gb/en/solutions/acc100247. If anybody could help demistify this that would be great! I am using a NVIDIA Quardo K1000M as my GPU and the Inter(R) HD Graphics 4000 for the onbaord graphics. It's probably worth nothing that if I can get all 3 monitors to run @ 60Hz and 2560x1440 I would not need to use the lap... Read more

- Thinkpad T500- Dock II (Docking station)- Nvidia - GEForce 8400 GS- Windows XP SP3 New unit- modified build of XP We have tried to install the video drivers from disk, but the system won't recognize them.  We have modified the BIOS to run external video after boot.  But it just locks up when placing the unit in the docking station.  We just get the 1 long beep-followed by 2 short ones (video error)- Note: we are not using switchable graphics, nor have we loaded the drivers or enabled it in the BIOS...cuz we know that's NOT for XP. Nothing here and nothing on the NVIDIA site. Any help appreciated

Answer:Problems with T500 Thinkpad, GEForce 8400 video card and docking station - in XP SP3

OK... the T500 and dock work fine apart.  Does anyone have any experience/luck with an NVIDIA GEForce 8400 GS?   This is tricky, as the drivers/support seems to be aimed at the Vista or Windows 7 OS crowd.

I am running a IBM Thinkpad W540 with a Lenovo Ultra Dock Docking Station 170 (Model 40A20170US). I have 3 Asus 23.6" LED HD Monitors (Model VN247HP). These monitors have a standard VGA connection and 2 HDMI ports, By default you are provided a VGA cable and a HDMI-DVI cable. When I plug these monitors into the Ultra Dock no signal is found(including the VGA).When I plug into the direct VGA port on the laptop, the monitor gets signal. If I use a Mini-DP connection with a Mini-DP-DVI adapter I get signal just fine. If I plug my this monitor into my desktop under HDMI and DVI connections it works just fine.I have gone into the bios and confirmed that under display the "Video Mode on Dock" is set to Advanced(I tried standard and it did not work any better).  I have the latest video drivers for the Intel HD graphics driver (10.18.10.3412) and the NVIDIA Quadro K1100M (9.18.13.4052). The USB ports work just fine, as does the power cable for the docking station. I tried applying the latest firmware update but the program runs and nothing happens. I checked for any other drivers thatmight have resolve the issue but have not had any luck.I tried calling for support on this (since its a new purchase), and the phone support said they could not help me, but they directed me here. I am hoping someone will be able to give me a hand on this issue or at least point me in a direction of someone who can help me get this issue resolved.. Any help would be greatly appreciated.  A... Answer:ThinkPad Ultra Dock Docking Station 170 not providing any signal to external monitors.

I am really sorry you are experiencing such issues. What makes me really mad is the fact, according to your words, that Lenovo support is directing you to this forum for help? This forum works on volunteer basis, so you might have a luck or not. I mean, you are living in the USA which is the most important market for Lenovo so if I would you, I would escallate the support issue.Meanwhile, there are two options you might try out:You could check if the firmware utility driver update helps, http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/pd028011or you might try out your luck with the native nVidia drivers, see http://us.download.nvidia.com/Windows/Quadro_Certified/334.95/334.95-quadro-notebook-win8-win7-64bit... . The latest helped me to run internal and 2 external monitors with 135W dock http://www.lenovoquickpick.com/deu/accessory/40A20135EU/thinkpad-ultra-dock-135w-eu.
