Touch Screen No Longer Works After Windows 8 Install on X220 Tablet

Question: Touch Screen No Longer Works After Windows 8 Install on X220 Tablet

I was previously running Windows 8 Preview and did not have any problems with the touch screen. I have tried two separate clean installs of Windows 8 Pro, and the only thing that will not work is the touch screen with my finger. The pen still works, but not the finger touch. The driver installation for both the pen and the multitouch fails with and error saying "A supported tablet was not found on the system." Help Please.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I had to re-install winxp on my x41 tablet. I had no recovery partition and the recovery CDs did not work, so I had to install a fresh Win XP Pro.The touch screen no longer works, i.e. the digitizer pen no longer works. I spent hours downloading drivers and software from lenovo support centre but nothing worked. I have one device in hardware manager that is not working, it is an "Unknown Device" described as "on Intel(R) 82801FBM LPC Interface Controller - 2641". I cannot seem to find a driver for it. I installed ThinkVantage system update software, which installed and updated all critical and recommended updates in addition to some of the optional stuff that seemed remotely relevant. Any help would be much appreciated.

Dear Lenovo support staff  / community, I just purchased a brand-new X200 and the pen / touch / tablet feature works out-of-the-box with its pre-installed Windows Vista 64-bit OS.  Because the applications I intend to use the Tablet with do not support Vista 64-bit (namely, Dragon Systems), I used the Windows XP Tablet Edition SP-2 Product Recovery Disc kit that came with the Lenovo tablet, and followed the conversion instructions included in the booklet down to the letter. However, when it converted the OS to Windows XP, the pen / touch functionality is completely gone, and I am unable to find any help online, or in Lenovo product support when called in. Installing the Multitouch drivers on the Lenovo support site for X200 drivers does not work, and installing the WACOM drivers does nothing either. I can confirm this is most likely a 100% repro case, as I have two brand new X200 Tablets and the same behavior is exhibited on both. Please advise.

I have updated all of my drivers from the Lenovo Yoga 13" site.  I read on here to pay special attention to the Synaptics driver, mine is 16.2.21.4 from Synaptics.  When I flip in to tablet mode my mouse moves around when I touch it.  Also the F6's "disable touchpad" doesnt work.  Its really annoying to not be able to use it as intended.  Anyone have a fix for this?

Answer:Yoga 13" - Touch Pad not disabled in tablet mode/F6 No longer works.

hi OmegaNine,

Sorry to hear what happened,

1. Can we Try this,
Go to Control Panel / Programs and features/ uninstall a program
Look for the Synaptics Software, Uninstall it there.

2. Go to Device Manager and look under "mice and game controllers" and make sure it does not say Synaptics there.
If it Does Uninstall it as well and put a check on the box if it asked "delete driver software"

If the system did not asked you for a restart, Restart the system Manually.

Open Device Manager again and open the category Sensor
  like on this photo
     http://www.codeproject.com/KB/system/wiisensor/wiisensor11.png
Uninstall everything under Sensors but DO NOT put a check on the delete driver Software.

Restart

Download and install this driver
Synaptics TouchPad Driver for 64-bit WindowsRestart after installation and Check if You still have the Issue.

Hope this helps
Cheers!!

Hi,
I have Dell E2014T monitor attached to Intel NUC. Originally, the base install was Windows 7 64-bit, but due to the automatic updates it was updated to Windows 10. Obviously, it is not possible to revert operating system to Windows 7.
Nevertheless, everything worked correctly until recently, when new updates from Microsoft were automatically installed in Windows 10. Monitor works correctly, but the "click" on the touch screen does not work. Simply saying - I can move windows but cannot press any buttons.
For 100% it is not hardware fault - when attaching monitor to older laptop with Windows 8 both monitor and touch screen works properly.
I learned on the other threads that Dell states that Windows 10 is "not supported" for this monitor and recommends revert to Windows 7.
The question is - is how it can be? As Microsoft no longer supports Windows 7, and Windows 8/8.1 will be no longer supported in a year and 3 months from now, how it can be that Dell has not released any driver for MS Windows 10?
Does it mean that Dell is dropping now all users who bought this monitor?
I can understand that Dell may be dropping old and unsupported operating systems but in this case Microsoft forces all users to migrate to Windows 10, so users have no other choice than to migrate.
Can anyone in Dell take a look at this issue and release new driver for Windows 10?
Obviously, the problem is going to affect ALL USERS OF DELL E2014T MONITOR, on January 2018 the latest, as ... Read more

Answer:E2014T Touch Screen no longer works properly in Windows 10 after updates

Try installing the Win 8.1 drivers available Here--
www.dell.com/.../drivers
Dell is not abandoning those upgrading to 10, just cannot make new drivers for 10. Win 10 has compatible win 10 drivers for almost all hardware.
Before installing Dell drivers, try updating the ones you have by opening Device Manager and see if windows 10 has a better update.

I've just reinstalled Windows 10 on this laptop and the touchscreen no longer works or is recognized. The device manager does not even list a touch-device under human interface devices, and the settings app reports that Pen & Touch is unavailable. I manually installed the intel chipset and display drivers from the support pages, but it has not made any differences. Does anyone have some insight as to why this might be happening?

I've been tasked to purchase an external touch monitor for use the the x220 running Tablet PC for XP but the monitor specs typically show "Windows Vista/Win7" supported. Will any touch monitor correctly work with this OS? Any recommendations?

Hello,
I would imagine you would need to find a touch-enabled screen that has device drivers for Microsoft Windows XP available for it.

Good day. I purchased a manufacturer refurbished ThinkPad X220t  with warranty for one year. The laptop came with a factory seal. When I turn on a notebook,  the operating system(win 7 Prof 64bit) automatically install. At the end of installation in device manager  all devices have been identified and worked fine.  But in computer details in the "system" was written ?No Pen or Touch Input is available for this display?. Then I installed all the drivers on a laptop from Lenovo website again and again. That did not help. Then I reinstalled windows (win 7 Prof 32bit). That did not help. Previously, I had two X200t and when I installed windows 7, the digitizer immediately was detected, for the good work of  the touchscreen it was necessary to install drivers. But the situation with the X220 for me incomprehensible. Explain what I did wrong. The type of ThinkPad printed on the back label is 4294-CTR(in BIOS the type is 4294-CTO).

I bought x220 tablet 4 days ago with multitouch (lenovo model number: 4296-2BG). Straight out of the box the touchscreen is not working in approximately 20-25% of the screen surface. The affected area is in one piece on the right-hand side (if looking in regular notebook configuration), however the most of the edges of the screen work. The touch works correctly at other parts of the screen, but on this part there are spots where I never managed to make the touch and there are spots where only sporadically and randomly I can make the touch work. The problem can be repeated no matter if the computer works on battery or on AC, no matters if it is in tablet or in notebook configuration, and no matter what the program you use. It is most clearly seen in Paint - drawing by finger goes well until you get to the part of the screen when abruptly stops and only continues when you get to the healthy part of the screen.  I spent 2 days of trying to get it wok by- calibrating touch screen- turning on and off the touch ability- trying to tweak the touch through built-in properties- installing the newest drivers from lenovo- installing the newest drivers from wacom- cleaning the screen surface with the little cleaning tissue that comes along- turning on and off wifi, bluetooth, camera, and virtually everything I could turn on/off By the way, the system is in the vanilla state - I did not install anything on it (except new drivers for touch). Just made the 'recovery disk'... Read more

Hi everyone, I have a Lenovo X220 Tablet that has touch screen and pen. They suddenly stopped working today. The LCD screen still works pefectly fine, however. The touch screen is enabled on the touch settings. When I try to calibrate, it does not detect my finger or the pen. I also noticed that when I tried to reinstall the driver and it said "a supported tablet was not found on this system". I have the most recent bios. I am running Windows 7 that came with the laptop. All windows updates completed. Is it possible for the digitizer to be defective, but the LCD screen to work perfectly fine?Could it be just a ribbon failure?Which part would need to be replaced, if this is the case? Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

Answer:X220 tablet touch screen suddenly stopped working

Even though it looks like a single device, it is really 3 separate ones.  There is a basic panel.  There is a static discharge digitizer in the front to sense finger touches.  There is a second Wacom digitizer behind the panel to detect the pen.  Any of them can fail.  The wires in the cable can also crack.  Since both digitizers failed, I would first look in device manager to see if there could be a problem with a USB hub.  (digitizers both connect as USB devices.)  My next guess would be the cable.  Sorry I cannot be more definite.

Ok, so the lcd is definitely multitouch , which is now a reason to concern .Basically , windows recognize it as a laptop, no hid touch input devices in device manager whatsoever. Is this a common issue? Tryed unpluging and plugging back in LCD micro cables but nothing.

After a month of use, the touch screen of my Inspiron 13 5000 series no longer works.
Initially, when I restarted the computer it would work again. But now this doesn't help anymore.
I went to settings > connected devices >device manager > human interface devices > HID compliant touch screen and it says "This device is working properly." I disabled and then enabled again the device but nothing changed.
Is there anything else I should do?

Answer:Touch screen no longer works

I'd suggest you uninstall and reinstall touch screen driver:
1. Go to device Manager, right click touch screen driver, and then uninstall. To reinstall touch screen driver, click 'Action' at the device manager taskbar, and then click "Scan For Hardware Changes".

Screen was cracked so I replaced the screen.  Now touch doesn't work. There is no "Pen and Touch" and "Tablet PC Settings" in Control Panel.  In PC info it says, "No pen or touch input is available for this display." Touch DOES work on LENOX as I ran it from a usb drive, so it is not a hardware problem. I have reinstalled Windows. I have another Yoga 2 Pro and comparing Device Manager in both I see no differences. How can I get the touch to work again?

Hi there, I recently purchased an HP Active Stylus to use with my HP Spectre x360 (HP Pavilion x360 - 13-u151tu). I followed some links online to try and find a driver that would allow the Active Stylus to work (as HP as failed to package native support with the laptop itself). I have installed Windows 8.1 Professional on on a Lenovo X220 Tablet and everything seems to have installed correctly, although my system, which supported limited touch with 2 touch points in Windows 7, only has Pen Support in 8.1. I have been able to get the system to be recognized as "Pen and Limited Touch Support with 2 Touch Points" but only if I disable/unintall the Intel HD 3000 driver, and use Microsoft Basic Display Adapter instead.  The problem is that the resolution isn't as crisp.   Any recommendations as to what I can do to get the limted touch to be recognized with the Intel HD 3000 driver?  This one is baffling.   Any help would be appreciated.  The X220 Tablet's type is 4296-2WU Also, the Intel HD Graphics 3000 driver is the latest version compatible with 8.1 64bit - 9.17.10.3517. Update: I have also tried the previous Intel driver release, 9.17.10.3347, as well as the recommend Intel driver from the support page 9.17.10.2843 and non of them allow my screen to do Limited Touch Support with 2 Touch Points.  Yet, if I disable the Intel driver, and restart, I can.

Answer:X220 Tablet and Windows 8.1 - Limited Touch drops with Intel HD 3000 is installed?

Troy,

Thanks for sharing your expeirences and the details of the driver version.

Officially, I don't think Lenovo provided full support for Win 8 on the X220, but as you note it (and the upgrade to 8.1) can work with some limitations.   I'll check with one of our software engineers to see if he may have some suggestions on this one.

I expect you will probably draw some responses from the community as the X220 was a very popular system with a good following.

Best regards,

My X220 tablet comes with pen and limited touch support with 2 touch points. I have no issues on windows 7 but on windows 8.1 it has changed to be working with only 1 touch point since some time that I don't remember exactly when. So that I can work with one finger only and 2-finger functions such as pinch to zoom are unavailable. My drivers are all uptodate. I think I should completely uninstall the related driver before reinstalling but don't know how to procede and couldn't find the solution. I tried uninstalling all HIDs through Device manager and one-by-one, specifically wacom device. when I uninstall it, I lose touch option completely. but reinstalling through Device Manager sounds like recovering exactly the previous faulty condition. Maybe there is a conflict with windows 8.1 like Microsoft Input Configuration Device which might be unlikely.  So is there any other way to have full wipe and clean reinstall of those touch screen drivers? I appreciate it if you put links to the drivers for me, if they are not available on Lenovo Support. Tell me if you had the same touch issue in Windows 8.1  and how you solved it. Thanks

Hello, I bought a X220 Tablet this past summer. A couple of days ago I was using the laptop plugged in when it popped up saying that I was on reserve battery. Thinking the plug had just come unseated, I unplugged and replugged the power supply from the back. The computer though refuses to think it is plugged into the power supply. It still gets power from a battery. I tested to make sure that it wasn't just a power supply issue by borrowing a known working one from a friend, which the computer also refused to recognize.  I was just wondering if this is a known issue of the plug going bad in the X220s, and if there was some fix before I took it into the repair center.

I recently bought a used Thinkpad 220 Tablet. It has a 500 MB hard drive and Windows 7. I would like to perform the free upgrade to Windows 10 as well as replace the hard drive with a SSD. I have a couple of questions: I went to the Windows 10 upgrade site and downloaded the 64 bit version and burnt it to a DVD. However, where do I find my registration key? Do I just use my Windows 7 one? If I go ahead and replace the hard drive (with the SSD), can I just go ahead and install Windows 10 - instead of having to copy everything over to it from the old hard drive (with Windows 7) first? That would be my preferred route. (However, will need the key). What about the IBM diagnostic partittion - what should I do in terms of this? It would be nice to be able to perform backups, or return to the original config. Any tips, thoughts, pointers, or otherwise much appreciated in advance. Thanks,Jon

Answer:X220 Tablet - install SSD then Windows 10 from DVD?

Hello and welcome,

The way I read the documentation:  run the upgrade first from within your running Windows 7.  That should activate Win 10 and the activation status will be recorded on the Microsoft servers.  Once that's done you can do a clean '10 install - either on your existing drive or on the new SSD and activation should be retrieved automatically from the server.

BTW, I've moved your post to the X tablet forum.

Hi, I have been baffled by this issue for quite a while now. I have a lenovo X220 tablet that supports both finger and pen inputs for touch. Originally this laptop came with windows 7 and everything was fine and dandy. I then bought windows 8/8.1 Pro 64-bit and did a clean installation of it. Now I only have pen support for the touchscreen, i.e. my finger is recognized as a pen/mouse not a finger which is really frustrating specially when scrolling. Now before I actually purchased the win8 license I had tried out the windows 8 release preview and everything worked perfectly then. So now when I got the actual release of the OS its not. Furthermore I currently have a dual-boot set up with windows 10 technical preview as my other OS and in there it also works perfectly fine as it should. This is important because when I contacted lenovo about the issue they suggested that my screen was broken, but clearly it is not.  Can anyone shed some light on this issue? It is a real shame not to be able to take advantage of this fine screen and windows 8 touch friendlyness.  Kind regards.

Anyone else encountered and solved this problem? I upgraded about 2.5 weeks ago and have looked everywhere for a solution. I finally got the wireless radio settings to apear when I press Fn+F5 but no bluetooth option exists. Today when I decided I had wasted enough time and tried to go back to Windows 7, it won't let me even though I still have Windows.old and it is whin the 30 day window. I feel stuck. I like Windows 10 but not having bluetooth makes me wish I would have left well enough alone and stayed with Windows 7. Anyone have a fix for either of these problems?

I know itīs quite abstract to ask this... but if anyone has this info, write in percentage. Gorilla Glass - 100% of resistanceInfinity Glass -  ???% of resistance The "why" for this dilemma: Gorilla Glass version:- sunny places like Brazil (and eventually, parks, huge lines, work events) will fit well to the outdoor view feature (I work with architectural projects and sometimes I must be at the building site to give some advices... often I had to instruct without the roof ready)- resistance enough against mild levels of clumsiness (drop to the ground, accidental beatups at slim backpacks, etc)- no fingerprints (Iīm a little neurotic with those things) Infinity Glass version:- I loved the multi-gesture (tested on Ipad)- excellent to browse webpages, comics, general images, etc very accessible and quick instead picking the pen every time (this case would be more for pleasure rather for work)- the real changes of the outdoor screen with this isnīt much far... still possible to look on it at the shade (like on a bus with big windows or just something with enough roof to cover the sun spot)  The big answer will come depending on how fragile it is... I remember to read some people at forums complaining about how fragile it was and how easily broke with a simple fall.   Thanks for reading. ps: if any of you guys have an idea of what suits better me, feel free to write.

I had called technical support and was informed that they cannot help me, so I was to ask on the forums instead if I wanted any assistance.  My ThinkPad has recently started having issue where, regardless of what program I am using, it will stop recognizing any touch interface via stylus or finger at all.  Previously, attempting to update drivers, or install the driver pack again would allow this to function once again.  However, this temporary fix seems to have stopped working entirely at this point.  I am running Windows 7 Professional (a requirement for the software needed for my research) on a 64-bit operating system.  Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.

Hey all, I am having trouble with my Tablet PC. I sent this email to HP, but their email response service is apparently down until Monday :/

I'd rather not wait that long, so this is exactly what I sent them. Any suggestions to help get my tablet working again would be great.

Thanks in advance.

"Please provide the exact problem description."

Hello.

Recently the touch screen input has stopped working entirely on my tx2000 series Tablet PC.

I believe that the issue is related to the "Wacom Touch Serivce".

Below is a direct link to a screen-shot of three relevant windows, from top to bottom respectively;

*
http://img525.imageshack.us/img525/470/tablethelp.png
*

1] The Services window.
2] The error that is produced when I attempt to Start the service manually in the Services window.
3] The service as it appears in the System Configuration window.

This second link shows a relevant portion of my Device Manager, which is showing no errors whatsoever;

*
http://img135.imageshack.us/img135/4...icemanager.png
*

I also have one more screen-shot that appears to show there is nothing wrong with the drivers or software;

*
http://img211.imageshack.us/img211/8554/cptablet.png
*

All of the options and menus appear in the Control Panel properly.
These things in mind, it appears to me that Wacom Touch Service is the issue.
I am not sure what I can do to resolve this, since reinstalling the drivers has not allowed the service to start.

I just upgraded to a new 256GB SSD Crucial C300 hard drive and Windows 7 and now my x61 tablet FLIES. However, my tablet function is not working at all. I installed all the appropriate drivers from Lenovo including WAACOM tablet driver. It just seems that Windows 7 does not see that it is tablet pc. Computer does not respond to screen touch at all and I do not see any conflicts in the devices section, so everything seems to work fine.

What's your product number (eg. 7764-CTO)? Then you could go to this page and the driver yourself. If you have multi-touch model, you need this driver -- MultiTouch driver for Windows Vista 32-bit - ThinkPad X60 Tablet, X61 Tablet and Tablet Button Driver for Windows Vista 32-bit - X41 Tablet, X60 Tablet, X61 Tablet for all button around the screen.

I am new to tablets and have seen people handwrite notes on an ipad and the ipad changes their writing into type and either stores it as a note or uses it to fill in blanks in a form. How do I do this with a Windows 10 based touch screen. I am using a Dell Inspiron 2-in-1 in tablet mode.

Answer:How do I get a Windows 10 based touch screen tablet to recognize handwriting?

Just tried Word and Notepad, you bring up the on screen keyboard and then click on the picture of a keyboard on the bottom right, where you choose what type of keyboard you want and choose the text input one, and scratch away. I admit I use a Surface Pro 3 with a pen.
OneNote will also work this way but may have other ways to do it.

I recently bough an Asus VivoTab Smart running windows 8 and everything was fine up until today when at some point the touch keyboard stopped disappearing whenever i needed to log in to the tablet! its annoying to have to find the on-screen keyboard and
i would like to have the touch keyboard back.

I have tried restarting many times and that does nothing, i have tried updating the driver but i cant as it says that it already has the driver up to date and that its running properly!

Any help is appreciated! thank you,

Answer:Windows 8 tablet touch keyboard DISAPPEARED from login screen!

I don't know if this will help you but it solved a similar problem I had on my Windows 8 touch PC:
If you are able to reach the Start/app tile screen or desktop and from there "view local services" which you can find by typing "services" in the Start screen scroll down the list until you come to the "Touch Keyboard and Handwriting Panel Service" which
should say "Automatic (triggered)" and "Running"
From there "right-click" that service (or otherwise get into its properties), click the "Log On" Tab, click the first option under "Log on as:" (circle button "Local System account") and make sure to Check box "Allow service to interact with desktop"
For me this box somehow became unchecked when I "Refreshed" my windows 8 to solve another issue. Once I checked the box, the keyboard started to reappear at the login screen.

Here is what I have done for my X61 Tablet (7764CTO) to make the touch screen working properly. First of all, please make sure that you X61 Tablet screen supports the touch function (finger inputting like that in iPad or iPhone). I know that a high resolution screen does not support touch inputting function. Problem:After updating my system to windows 8 pro, my finger inputing was not functioning well. This just started this morning.  I noticed that if I left a browser window open for a while (particularly with a white background with black text), when I minimize the window, I can see a faint image of it left behind that fairly quickly (at least for now) fades away on it's own.

I turned off the machine, unplugged all the batteries and the power.  Checked and cleaned all the connections and vents.  Then powered it back up on just main battery (has nearly a full charge) played with brightness just a bit.  At first it wasn't repeating the problem but quickly it's showing up again and I am extremely concerned.

I am still under warranty.  Please advise.  Thank you in advance - best regards.

Answer:Lenovo X220 Tablet (screen just startedshowing signs of screen memory burn in...)

Updated Info:  Problem only happens on the edges of the screen, a little less than an inch in from any edge, top/bottom/left/right and the problem may appear, but anything in the middle and it seems fine.

Doesn't happen if my background is set to solid black.  It's slightly noticeable with a mid-grey tone and it's worse still with a mid to dark grey tone that is tinted with a purple-ish hue.

Could some other x220 owners set their bg color to a dark grey purple color, and try to see if it's just a limitation.  I'm trying to determine if my hardware is failing, or if I just stumbled upon something that for most cases and purposes isn't going to be much of a bother.

Other than recently calibrating my touch and pen input, I haven't made any changes to the system.  Today I installed a new intel graphics driver update from Win update but it didn't change anything.

Thank you all very much.

The Thinkpad Tablet and the X220t are two different devices. Regarding your problem, I fear that the boot sector is defective. You'll probably have to reinstall Windows.

We are having some issues with the pen touch when getting closer to the edge of the screen. The little dot-guide loses accuracy around the edges, making it frustrating to adjust clicks. Another issue is the pen gets shaky when you are closer to the edge of the screen as well. Example - it is impossibleto draw a straight line when you get closer to the screen (OneNote). We had a Toshiba Portege previously and we never had these issues. I apoligize if this is redudndant but i would like a solution. Driver update? Thanks,

Answer:My x220 tablet arrives this Tuesday! What apps to install and what else to do?

0_o Huh? Like in general as a Windows user, Thinkpad user, or as a Windows tablet user?My favorite general advice for the laptop is this: use the Lenovo Power Manager to set the processor as low as possible and activate all other power-saving features except lowering screen brightness. Then, go and get some kind of browser add-on that disables Flash. Firefox does it using the "Toolbar Buttons" add-on, and it even allows you to activate a single Flash element at a time--meaning you can watch the YouTube video without having to see the Flash ad beside it.Those steps transformed my battery life experience. As a Windows tablet? I don't know.... On my Acer W500 (a disappointing machine), the only thing that doesn't really work is Chrome--it insists on me using the scrollbar to scroll, whereas IE and Firefox accept one-finger scrolling just fine, same as any tablet or smart phone. In my case, I really enlarged the DPI settings a lot--150%--to make the right-click menus easier to poke at. Being a bigger screen, the X220 won't suffer from that problem as much, but if you're using the multitouch version, it might be worth experimenting with different DPI settings in the control panel.

Hello, I've owned my Yoga Pro 2 since it hit the market and have been satisfied until now.  I tried starting it this morning and there was no response except for the white circle next to the power button being illuminated.  I tried holding down the power button for ten seconds to restart: nothing on the screen.  I tried holding down the power button for 90 seconds (per research on others' successful attempts online): the white illuminated circle next to the power button illuminates to orange for about 3 seconds and then back to an illuminated white circle with nothing on the screen. The next thing I tried was plugging it into another outlet with no changes.  Finally, I tried starting it in tablet mode and it booted up. After booting up, I immediately made a backup onto an external HD as the touch screen worked and I was able to use it as a tablet.  Next, I tried to see if any other modes worked (e.g. tent, desktop, etc.) and after lifting the screen to transition less than 1/2 an inch, the screen would immediately turn black with keyboard and power buttons being ineffective.  Upon returning to tablet mode, I pushed the windows home logo on the screen and the screen popped into life.  I was able to use it in tablet mode again. Repeated attempts to return to transition to other modes resulted in a black screen after reaching the 1/2 inch mark.  Is this a wiring/hardward thing or is it a software fix?  I've uninstalled ... I have a client that says the little circles that come up every time he touches the screen is giving him a headache.  Does anyone know how to shutoff the response of the pen each time it touches the screen,  but still have the pen work? Thanks.

Answer:X220 Pen touch on screen: How to disable the circles that show when the pen has touched the screen

You need to disable the cricles that appaers after touching the screen, there is no such option, I would suggest you to please perform the workarounds.

1.To remove fingerprints, etc., from the touch panel display, use a dry, soft, lint-free cloth or a piece of absorbent cotton. Do not apply solvents to the cloth.2. Gently wipe foreign particles and dust from the touch panel with one side of the cloth.3. Wipe smudges or fingerprints with the other side of the cloth, or with a clean cloth.4. After using the cloth, wash it with a neutral detergent.

After this, please check if the issue resolved.

Anybody else having this problem????  Purchased new Lenovo Flex 3 - 1570 Laptop in August.  Upon purchase immediately upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 8.1 based on manufacturer recommendation.  System is Windows 10 compatible based on information from both Lenovo and Microsoft.  Windows 10 has done an automatic update and now my touch screen and three USB ports no longer function.  To solve the problem, I started with Lenovo and after 3 days, 15 hours on the phone and 3 123Rescue sessions with them it was concluded there was a software issue (Lenovo Ref #8006052239).  I was told by the good folks at Lenovo the only way for them to fix the problem was to a) send computer back to them so they could wipe clean and fix taking upwards of 10 business days, b) uninstall Windows 10 and revert to Windows 8.1 meaning all of my loaded Windows 10 software would have to be replaced with Windows 8.1 compatible, or c) pay for service plan at $199 so they could fix.  None of the free options are good options for me as I depend on my computer for work.  Not sure why I have to pay to fix a computer bought directly from them less then  3 months ago and is still under warranty.  All of these benefit Lenovo not the customer. I then called Microsoft and after over 3 hours on the phone with the folks in the Philippines they advised they could solve by escalating to a level 2 call (Microsoft Case #1314026417... Hi, Jetsyfix

I'm not sure what is causing the issue, but a driver update may help. Here you can find all the possible driver updates for your system. There is a fairly recent BIOS update for your machine that may help, but I would update all drivers as needed and see if it helps.

Best of luck,

Ok, I just got my screen in x220 tablet replaced. When I first usued it, I noticed that the new screen is now "rubbery" - there is no protective foil, but it just feels like there is some plastic cover over the screen, not the actual glass. Previously, the pen used to run smoothly over the screen - just like it does over glass. Now I can tell that the screen is covered in a platci/ rubber transparent layer - invisible but one you can feel by your hand or especially by the stylus. Now I want to ask you for something really silly - can you touch yours x220 tablet screen and tell me whether you feel the rubber coating or a glass? :-) I might be out of my mind, but I swear the feeling was different before. The screen that was replaced comes from the Lenovo service (repair was done under warranty) - maybe I got a screen from a different model (eg. x230?).

Hi, I just notice now I have a crack on the screen on my gf's x220t. She and I NEVER droped it, NEVER put pressure on the screen, NEVER put any sort of heavy objects on the laptop.  The crack is small (about 1 cm), very thin, it's hard to see but can be felt very easy when using the digitizer. Her computer also gets alot of thermal sensor failure at the begining of the boot (which can be fix by removing the battery and going into the BIOS). Can I get some help from lenovo STAFF on this. This is a 1300$ laptop. Please be resonable and don't tell me I've used it too hard. There could be a way to verify that the laptop didnt go through severe conditions and that it's a default in fabrication... Answer:x220 tablet scratch/crack (about 1 cm, very thin) on the screen

this forum doesn't have a dedicated staff to personally troubleshoot issues.   everyone here (staff included) is here purely on a volunteer basis.   first and foremost this is a peer-to-peer forum.

with that said...

unless you have the gorilla glass model (non-multitouch), your X220T's display is polycarbonate.   based on your video, it looks like it could be a scratch in the writing surface rather than a crack, especially being along the horizontal plane and parallel with the pixel grid.   cracks tend to be more random where scratches happen most often along the X or Y plane.

have you called lenovo support about this or the thermal sensor errors?

Hello, I would like to know if the outer clear part that goes on top of the screen is the same on the tablet as on the non tablet, or does the tablet have a different surface because of the pen.  I ask because as this is not supplied with replacement screens and I need this part also as its cracked.  I have seen a whole screen assembly for sale which is off the non tablet version so was hoping this would be suitable, of course I would swap over the wacom digitizer from the rear of the broken screen. Can these be ordered separately? if so is there a part number? Thanks.

Answer:X220 tablet screen outer plexiglass surface

The multitouch version of the tablet is certainly different. The outer "glass" is actually the capacitive discharge digitizer (finger touch). Pen-touch is handled by a different digitized behind the LCD panel

Answer:Thinkpad Tablet X220 the upper glass of screen cracked a little

Hi sweetaaronm and welcome to the community,

You're probably going to have to call service to find out how much and how long it will take?  I'd do that anyway, just so you know.  It is going to be expensive.
Is there any computer repair shops locally that you trust?  I'd sit down with the phone book and make some calls.  You're going to have to know which screen you have so you can have them get the right one.

If Lenovo service has the screen in stock, the turnaround for the repair should be pretty fast.

I seem to be getting random stop errors whenever I attach the Ultrabase 3 to my new X220 Tablet.  On several occasions I have also experienced the Optical Drive hanging or loosing connection. W hen I do not have the Ultrabase attached I have not experienced these problems, even when I attach a USB external optical drive.  X220 is a model 4296 37U with 8 Gb ram and I have upgraded the 320 Mb hard drive to a Intel 320 series 600 Gb SSD.  Is anyone else experiencing a similar problem with the Ultrabase with their laptops?

Answer:Blue screen stop errors when using Ultrabase 3 with my new Thinkpad X220 Tablet.

hey johnhoy, have you tried updating the firmware and bios for your X220 Tablet via http://support.lenovo.com ?If not please do so and then test your Ultrabase 3

Ihave owned a Windows 7 X220 Tablet for about 3 years, but never previously ugraded the Lenovo software on it. I saw this was possible, ticked various upgrades and set it off to download and install. On restarting the screen is black - with only a flat white cursor top left. I called Lenovo who said they suspected a bios upgrade had conflicted with something else being installed at the same time (I had ticked multiple upgrades at once), and suggested Ilook and ask for help on the forum. They said they thopught I needed to roll back the bios upgrade but Idon't know how to. I run Trend Micro security suite which was not swithced off when I did the upgrade. Any suggestions at all would be really welcome as the machine is effectively dead and unusable unless I can get it back to the previous set-up. ( Isuspect there are likely to be restore  points but cannot do anything at all at present) Thanks very much    cnwlenovo 15 Feb 2015

Answer:Disaster - X220 tablet - screen black on reboot after installing Lenovo upgrades

Ihave just (after posting this request), and 2 weeks after the failed attempt to get the computer to restart, tried again with the laptop powered onto the mains - it must have completely lost battery power in the meantime, successfully rebooted into Windows, the machine installed Windows upgrqades as it booted, and restarted itself in the process. Iliterally bit my nails as this was going on - and pleased to report the macjine now seems to have opened up OKin windows. Phew!!!      Wonder if the "bad loop"it may have gotten into when Iwas tryoing to reboot several times before - resulting in black screen and white cursor top left - may have died with a complete power down. In any event Iam hugely relieved - so Lenovo upgrades were obviously "self-correcting and troubleshotting after all.... Cnwlenovo 15 February 2015

My HP Pavilion 360 does not switch to tablet in some Roblox games, well to be clear it does pop up the switch to Tablet dialog and touch works but you don't get the touch on-screen controls for moving etc. so it's like somehow the game does not now know that it's a tablet  This is inconsistent as the tablet works in some Roblox games and not others. Has anyone else experienced this and if so how did you fix it? e.g The onscreen controls show and work in Roblox game "Stop it slender 2" but not in Roblox game "prison life"

So years ago I saw the HP TX2510us model and fell in love with it. Even through the overheating and wifi card problems, I was willing to dish out the money and get one...

then life kicked me, hard, and I couldn't afford it.

Now.. I have a little breeze money again. But years have passed, and to a computer, that means a whole new evolutionary phase.

What's out there that is decent and affordable?
I've been seeing ebay sales for the 2510us model for as low as $350 with shipping, I missed out on that deal though by like 1 hour (stupid work!)

What I need it for:
Sketching/Drawing (main reason)
3D sculpting (more drawing programs)
Possible a little gaming (minecraft, maybe some other things like wow-ish, nothing super "high tech')
Music
Youtube
general surfing (under Wireless N speeds, so N is needed)
Touch screen with wacom (because I did my research and wacom is amazing, but a basic pressure-sensitive pen/eraser will work)
Movies (DVD)

Would love it to have 2GHz, 3+GB ram, 100+GB HDD, and a graphics card capible of handling some of the advance pixel shading and such (for graphic reasons, not game reasons)

The TX2510us had this:
Newegg.com - HP Pavilion tx2510us Tablet PC AMD Turion X2 Ultra ZM-80(2.10GHz) 12.1" Wide XGA 3GB Memory 250GB HDD 5400rpm DVD Super Multi ATI Radeon HD 3200

Plus what's not listed is it's pressure sensitive, wacom digitizer, which is the most imporant part.

So... help me find something lik... Read more

Answer:Looking for Wacom Touch Screen Tablet

I use a tablet brand called Trust, it cost me ?60 and is brilliant, so Wacom isn't the only brand you can go for, there are other less expensive brands you can get brand new and function just as good!

hi there, I have an X61 tablet 7767-B7U configured with Vista business and multitouch screen. I am somehow disappointed by the touch screen, pen is ok but touch really needs meto press hard with the finger; if I want to scroll a web page using the finger I have to press so hardyou can almost hear the noise of the finger frictioning on the screen. Is that normal or something is wrong withmy screen? There seems no way to increase sensitivity for touch screen, only calibration whichhelps for precise positioning. This way it is not very usable, so I am ending up only using the pen, which is frustrating as I got the machine also for the finger touch capabilities. Any suggestions? Is this the way is is upposed to be or somethibg is wrong with my unit? thanks in advance!Michelle

Hi, I have Lenovo X61 tablet with windows XP professiona installed. I am not able to use its touch screen at all. And I cannot see the pen settings in control panel either. I have already installed the touch screen driver for it. How can I download pen settings in the control panel . any idea! cheersSumair

Answer:Lenovo X61 Tablet touch screen

The tablet-specific settings are only in XP Tablet edition. But even so, the digitizer and pen should work without them on XP Pro - are you sure you installed the Wacom ISD tablet driver?

Hi there, I am hoping someone might be able to help me.

I am working on a Sony Vaio VGN-CS11S/Q and I have recently installed Windows 7 on the machine.

The install itself was routine with no problems, however, once completed I wanted to install a game, I popped the disc in the drive and nothing happened - in fact the DVD drive was missing altogether from the my computer screen.

I have had quite a good search and found a couple of potential fixes, however nothing I have tried has worked so far. The fixes I have tried includes deleting upper and lowerfilters through the regedit.

The device manager was showing the DVD drive with an exclamation mark on - the problem is a code 10 error?
But the DVD drive is now missing from the device manager altogether.

The DVD drive is a Mat****a DVD RAM UJ870BJ.

Answer:After install the DVD drive no longer works

hi Ginger, and welcome to sevenforums,

sorry if it sound obvious, but we have to start somewhere , have you looked on the sony site for chipset drivers, firmware upgrades etc for your particular model?

also did you install off the dvd drive in the first place?

I have an Envy 23 that was touch/pen capable until only a few days ago.  It now shows "no pen or touch available for this display."  The HID compliant for touchscreen is hidden and cannot install, update, or rollback driver because the hardware is not connected.  I have attempted to rollback Window updates, install Window updates (all), restore to an earlier time when the PC was working with touchscreen, update and rollback drivers, reboot to the manufacturer set up, etc.  I would attempt to calibrate except there is no option for that.  Many of the suggestions require steps that are no longer found on the PC.The onscreen keyboard has even disappeared.   The only suggestions I can find from forums, web searches, and the customer care number is to winkey + X and update the driver in the HID --- No possible since it cannot find the hardware or hardware is not connected.  What hardware?  It is not in the hardware recovery, reboot, search of PC, and I did not buy this separate.  I have looked for calibration options but they do not exist on the PC as far as I can find.I have looked on HP's site for the driver(s) or other options and nothing. Is there a way to get the touchscreen driver, hardware, or whatever is needed fixed?  I purchased this specific for the touchscreen and to lose it kind of defeats the purpose of having it.Thanks

Hi,I'm not seeing X220 T listed by Lenovo in laptops-windows 10 compatibilty list...??? Is that right? Mine is a 3 years old system... I can't believe is not going to be possible to use Windows 10... Anyone has tried it?Thanks.

Answer:Windows 10 support for X220 Tablet

Hello,

It may work fine with Windows 10, however, I don't believe its generation of CPU, IGP and chipset are supported by Intel for Windows 10, which means that Lenovo can't support them, either.  For what it is worth, I installed Windows 10 on a ThinkPad X61t and didn't notice any issues, and that has been out of support for a much longer time than your X220t.

That said, it could be that Windows 7, 8 or 8.1 drivers for the various bits of silicon inside your X220 tablet may work just fine under Windows 10, in which case you would be up and running.

The best suggestion I have is to make a thorough backup of your X220 and then try applying the Windows 10 Upgrade.  If it doesn't work, you will be able to wipe the drive and then reload your backup.

Regards,

Hey folks, I've upgraded my X220 Tablet to W8 when it has been released. All is running fine. Okay, I deinstalled PC Doctor and several other Lenovo apps which are supported for W7 only but this has not been a lack for me. Since two days, after using the tablet functionality (touch + pen) the touchpad and trackpoint didn't work any more. Had that some time ago, when I suspended the machine in tablet-mode. Afterwards the touchpad and trackpoint were disabled. I could enable both by hitting FN+F8. But this shortcut doesn't work any more. Does anyone know, how to restore the FN+F8 shortcut? I found out the application behind the FN+F8 key can be found in C:\Program Files\ThinkPad\UltraNav Utility\UNAVOSD.exe UPDATE: Driver version is already at 16.2.19.2. cheerskyoshiro

Hello,In January, I upgraded the hard drive in my X220 Tablet and installed Windows 8 to the new hard drive.  Since doing so, I've been having trouble with the Wi-Fi on the computer.  It does this thing from time to time (a few times a week) where the Wi-Fi just cuts out, and doesn't think any networks are available, although the networking adapter is enabled.  Usually I can fix things by disabling and enabling the networking adapter a few times, but I'm getting tired of having to do this.  The problem is entirely with the computer, and not with my network, as it will do this on number of different networks, and the problem is not with the networking components.   Has anyone else had similar issues?  Does anyone have any advice on how to fix it?

I have a desktop that runs Windows 8.1. My x220 tablet runs Windows 7. I was thinking about getting a wacom bamboo tablet for my art in photoshop (which I make on my desktop... x220 isn't powerful enough for what I do in photoshop). When I use the X220 as a laptop I can duplicate the display through my SmartBoard projector but when I use it as a tablet and it is docked I have to turn the tablet and dock 180 degrees so I am not writing upside down on the smartboard;  that means the dock has the cables coming out the front.  I can undock and plug everything into the X220 but the beauty of the dock is that I don't have to!

I have an ASUS tablet that I don't know the model nor is it listed anywhere on the tablet. it originally had a detachable keyboard but the guy that gave it to me didn't have it. according to device manager, it has a generic touch screen driver. I have frequent unresponsiveness and sporadic automatic touches a with the touch screen, and I think it may be due to the generic touch screen drivers. If I had the ASUS one, I think it would work better. Device manager reports the hardware ID as: HID\VEN_ATML&DEV_1000&Col01 but no search engine can find it. Google had only two pages of results, all of which were dodgy. Many others like Yahoo only had one page of results of the same dodgy or other dodgy results. I was wondering if you can lead me to the right one. You have been so helpful with finding me drivers before so I am sure it would be no problem.

I have just bought a 7" Android tablet from China at a very good price. It works well except for one thing, scrolling on the touch screen. I have to press hard to get it to scroll which causes it to open up what was pressed or it will scroll very quickly to the bottom of the page. I don't seem to have any control over the scrolling. I have contacted the company about this and I am waiting on a reply. Would anyone have a solution to this problem? Thanks.

Answer:7" Tablet touch screen problem

Perhaps there's a setting for touch screen sensitivity?

I recently installed a new OS on an HP tc4400 which the user had run C:\format. He gave me a copy of what i was told was the xp tablet OS. I installed all drivers from HP.com and the everything but the touch screen works. Does anybody have any ideas or know where i can get the software/drivers to make the t.screen work (any more not listed on HP.com). Or do I simply need a copy of the oem XP tablet OS disk from HP? When you say touch screen, do you mean that if you touch the screen it will respond? I have the tc4400 and i'm PRETTY sure it only responds to the tablet pen.

I aquired an HP TX1305US convertable touch tablet. it seems to have some issues with the touch screen. first of all, half the time, the touch doesn't work. anytime i flip the screen around into tablet mode, the pointer goes haywire and when i go back to laptop mode, the pointer is stuck in the corner, and it can't be moved. also, the application toolbar comes up and the only way to fix it is to reboot. i uninstalled the tablet functionality through windows and reinstalled and the problem is still there. additionally, when the touch screen was working, i had to use alot of pressure. i was kind of expecting it to work like an ipod touch or pda. i'm not sure if this could be hardware or software. the laptop has vista ultimate. i checked ho for all the updates and everything should be current. any ideas of what could be the problem?

I own a Fujitsu TH700 Tablet PC. It initially ran Windows 7 and everything was working really well on it, but then I upgraded to Windows 10 (I was curious) and some features just have not worked properly since. The one problem that I have been unable to fix is the touch screen. When the computer is in its "laptop position" (see image) the touch screen works just fine. However, when I rotate the screen and click it into the "tablet position" the touch screen becomes completely unresponsive. When I lift the lid again into the "laptop position", the screen remains unresponsive until I put the computer to sleep and wake it up again. After that, it works completely fine.

When the laptop screen is turned and clicked into the "tablet position", there is a programming shift that happens to turn the laptop into "tablet mode" (this is not the same as Windows 10 tablet mode. In-fact, Windows 10 tablet mode doesn't recognize me turning the screen and clicking it into the "tablet position"). I'm not sure what the differences are between the TH700's laptop mode and tablet mode. The only thing I can see is that the screen auto rotates (as shown in the image).

This malfunction started occurring soon after I downloaded Windows 10, but I'm fairly sure it was working properly for a week or so. It was only when I connected my TH700 (in the "tablet position") into an external projector that the touch scree... Read more

Windows XP Tablet Edition had to be removed from my Lenovo ThinkPad X41 tablet because the PC was issued for school, and the school-licensed software had to be removed. Now I'm running Windows XP Pro (a mistake on the school technical administrator's part?), and the touch screen no longer responds to the stylus.
I tried to contact the school technical administrator, calling to his attention that I'm no longer running Tablet Edition, which is probably necessary, but he has not responded.
I've tried installing such drivers as 7jge15ww and 913z07us, and I've run the ThinkVantage System Update several times, to no avail. Is there a driver I'm overlooking? Is it at all possible to simply USE my tablet properly without having to go out and buy Windows XP Tablet Edition?

Answer:Enable touch screen for Lenovo X41 tablet

You can get Recovery Discs from IBM is the built in Recovery partition and utility are not longer on the laptop from IBM/Lenovo by going here: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-4M7HWZ

If the Recovery Partition is still intact and accessible you can return to Windows XP Tablet Edition by following these instructions: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-4UFUYK

Looking at the downloads I don't see a driver for the Touch Screen: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-67100
When you ran the System Update utility you installed all the drivers and software/accessories updates?

This is my first post here. I use PSPro for drawing for fun. I use a mouse. Recently I was given a tablet. In theory this is better, as holding a pen is easier than the mouse for drawing. The main problem is that the image is on the laptop screen and the pen is on the plain tablet, so you have to guess where to start drawing by moving the pen around until the cursor is positioned where you want it. The next problem is that I do not want to relearn all the PSP commands (and positions around the edge) on the tablet. The mouse works with the tablet, but putting the pen down to use the mouse is a hassle. There are expensive (around Ģ1000) tablets with a touch screen where you draw on the image, just like a pencil on paper. Too expensive for me. Is there a touch-screen tablet that will work with Paint Shop Pro? What about an Ipad? I dont really know how a touch screen works with a programme liike PSP. Do you just touch the screen in the same place as you would position the cursor? Does a tablet have USB ports so I could save my work on a memory stick, or by cable to the drive in my laptop? I dont know if its possible, but If I could draw on the touch screen and save my work on my laptop, this would be ideal. I hope someone can help. Thanks in advance.

NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150 Video Driver - 7.15.11.5682
This is the video driver version for my HP tablet(HP Website). But unknowingly I installed the latest version(7.15.11.7770) from NVIDIA through Windows update. And from that time onwards, my touch screen stopped working. It is not recognizing my stylus/finger.
I contacted HP care and they advised me to follow these steps.
1) Uninstall the latest driver and install the 11.5682 driver
2) Bios Flash
3) Calibrate
I am done with the first two steps but still my touch screen is not recognizing the pen. So I couldn't calibrate.
When I contacted the HP care again, they are telling it may be because of hardware failure. My notebook is working perfectly except this touchscreen.

Please anyone help me to solve the issue.

Cheers
