I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello,  I'm having some trouble with turning on my laptop. The problem originally started when some keys on my keyboard stopped working. I cleaned the keys, restarted my laptop, tried a previous restore point and then did a hard reset after nothing worked to fix my laptop.  After hard resetting, I tried turning on my laptop and it did not turn on. So far, I've plugged in my laptop into the adaptor, plugged the adaptor directly into the wall outlet, and removed the battery and plugged in the laptop. The one thing I have noticed with my laptop is that when I plug in the adaptor, the battery and sleep lights turn on for a moment, then the sleep light turns off, and the battery light will stay on momentarily but then it will blink off after a few seconds. What else should I do? Thank you

welcome to the community!

please check to make sure your trackpad is not disabled in your bios.

for reference, on my t60p, i have the trackpad disabled in bios because i never use it ( trackpoint evangelist here ). regardless, when i'm at the windows 7 login screen, my trackpad is active. as soon as i'm logged in and i've got a windows desktop, the trackpad is inactive. i'm not sure why i have that small window where it works, but there it is, fwiw.

Hi, My Thinkpad X230 tablet screen is not truning on.  It just shows the dark blank screen. The power button is on, all other indicators are green.I have tried removing the battery, holding Fn button etc. Can someone help to resolve this issue please.. Thank You.

Answer:Lenovo Thinkpad X230 Tablet - Display Problem

If it is under warranty, call for service, rather than dealing with it. The first step is to unplug it and remove the battery. Press the power button 5 times, holding it for 10 seconds on the last push. Put it back together; plug it in, and try again.

Hi. Recently, I have noticed that wifi connection in Tablet mode in my Thinkpad X230 Tablet is significantly slower than in laptop mode. Sometimes, it completely disconnected to the network. I tried to test with Speedtest. net and download a file via Internet Download manager. I am leaning towards buying a Lenovo thinkpad x230 with 6 cell main battery as well as a 44++ 9 cell battery and a 19+ six cell battery configuration (6 +9+6 cell battery configuration). My queries are1. Can all three of the batteries work in conjunction without any issues?2. Do i need to charge the batteries separately or they all get charged simultaneously while i plug a charger in the laptop?3. Is there any other battery option ( like a 9 cell main plus a 44++ 9 cell and a 19+ 6 cell, i.e. 9+9+6 cells) that can work ?

I have thinkpad x230 tablet, and I have mixed feeling about it. It is a quite powerful one, does most of the job but have too many design flaws - broken rubber latch after a while and rubber buffers in the bottom etc.,  I hate the new gen x240 laptop, especially the X series convertible laptop is discontinued. Stupid, in my opinion, yoga design. I, no way, want to flip the keyboard to any surface. Especially on a field trip. X240 discontinues Express Card slot, no thunderbolt, no digitizer. The removal of trackpoint 3 click buttons, which were combined with the trackpad. People complain a lot when they accidentally click the trackpad while typing. I am a trackpoint person, not trackpad person. So the removal was **** retarded, anti consumer, anti Thinkpad legacy!Pls, see this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jb7p3VkQCOo. I did not made this video but 100% agree with this guy.  In addition, it seems to me that newer generations Intel core processor (4th and upcoming 5th) was weeker than ivy bridge processor because Ivy Bridge processors are full power 35W, now, everything is low powered to save the battery life. I have a few questions: 1.Is there anyway, or any company that can make a better thinkpad x230 tablet screen (say upgrading the screen from 1366x768 to higher resolution, improving wacom pen digitizer on the edges 2. I have just completed a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate and all went well except for the screen brightness issue. Anyone have any ideas where I can simply increase this as I have searched everywhere for screen brightness, even BIOS for any setting for display. I have latest update to display driver. I have two other laptops and each shows much brighter than this one and I am surely disappointed in this display. Not sure if it is because this screen is touch enabled and also works off keyboard that could be the issue and a separate setting could be involved on the touch side of the display as it does work with a stylus pen or touch also. thanks and   I hope I can get this brightness to increase somewhat as it is too hazy for me.

Hi everyone:I am considering to upgrade my wireless adapter for my laptop. Currently I am using Thinkpad X230 Tablet with Intel Centrino Wireless N 2200. My laptop has bluetooth. I have questions:1. Does the bluetooth come with my wireless adapter? I mean that If I upgrade my wireless card, do I have to buy a card with wifi and bluetooth? 2. I am considering to upgrade to Intel 62205 AN. This is the linkhttp://www.superbiiz.com/detail.php?name=INT-62205&show=p Is that worth to upgrade? (functionality, price, ...)  Is the product compatible with my current Thinkpad X230T?  3. Can I install 2 cards and run silmultanerously . It sounds greedy but I know a software, named "connectify"; it allows laptop to connect many networks silmutanerously, for example: 4G, Lan, wifi.  4. I see some people mention about Intel Ultimate 6300. What additional functionalities do I get compared to 62205  or Intel 2200? Thank you.

Answer:Upgrade Wireless Adapter for Thinkpad X230 Tablet

1. Bluetooth and wireless cards are separate on the ThinkPad X220, X220t, X230, and X230s. http://www.flickr.com/photos/lead_org/8276508687/in/set-721576320273504682. You would need an Intel 6205 card with Lenovo FRU number on it, generic one won't work. 2200 only operates in the 2.4 ghz bandwidth, while the 6205 can operate in both 2.4 and 5 ghz bandwidth. So the question is does your router have 5 ghz bandwidth and support MIMO?3. No you can't. The WWAN/mSATA slot would give an error message saying an unauthorized card is installed (1801 error). 4. 6300 card has 3 x 3 setup and operates in 2.4 ghz and 5 ghz range. Max speed of 450 mpbs6205 has 2 x 2 setup, 2.4/5 ghz range, and max speed of 300 mbps.2200 has 2 x 2 setup, but operates in the 2.4 ghz range and max speed of 300 mbps.

I have been waiting for one year for the x230 tablet with the win8 installed, but unfortunately, Lenovo did nothing's, why it have to wait, rather than upgrade my self, I believe the current x230t ,s some function will not work , as Lenovo also remove win8 from their websiteX230 tablet as a top level business laptop without windows8 is unreasonable, as win8 already available for so long timeI also believe Lenovo will have to do something to produce x230t with windows8, or new x240t with win8, because too many thinkpad fans waiting for that

Answer:Why thinkpad x230 tablet without windows 8 installed from the factory? What is the real reason?

To be a windows 8 certified device with touch screen feature, it has to have at least 5 points touch. The X220t and X230t uses a 2 point touch screen, so they do not meet the minimum requirement for Windows 8.

Realized I posted this in the wrong place and it really belongs here I decided to look around to make sure my computer was even able to run an external GPU and found I have hit a wall. I flashed my BIOS to the newest version (like 2.67 or something?) but my TOLUD is 3.5 GB (dfa00000). I thought the BIOS update was supposed to fix this? I only have 8GB of RAM so the 16GB problem shouldn't affect me either? Anyone know what might be wrong? When reading some forums I saw that people who updated their BIOS were able to fix their problem as long as they only had 8 gigs of ram, which is why im confused I still have DFA00000. Will it still work regaurdless of this? I thought the update was supposed to fix this.

Hello all, I have serious network configuration issue (including both, WiFi and Ethernet). When I enter IPv4 configuration, next time I open again the configuration page, the settings are put into automatic mode (so no pre-entered IPs there). But ipconfig shows the entered IPs. Some times ipconfig also show 3 or 4 different gateways, but opening the Network adapters configuration page, all is set to automatic, so I put it into manual mode, then again to automatic mode and disable + enable adapter, then it'll go to dhcp. This issue is really annoying, I had it before the clean install, it worked some time after reinstall, but now the issue came back again. Using Windows 8.1 ProAll drivers are up-to-date. Any help is really, really appriciated,Thanks in advance,Kunnar

Hi there I posted this on another forum, but thought it might get more of a response on the lenovo forum, so apologies if anyone has read this before.I need a new laptop soon, my T60 is on its last legs, but has lasted a great length of time. I am considering buying either the x220 or the x230, but I live in the UK and the X230 is only available with 2 processor options, the i5 3210 or else the i7. The latter makes it considerably more expensive and probably is too much for what I need. Lenovo is also not letting me upgrade the screen from the default option, as the upgrade is the 3 x 3 antenna (?) so I can't get the webcam.I was originally going to really spec up the 220 and go for that, but I have heard about screen warping problems (my other half has a t400s and has been plagued by the chassis cracking at the palm rests) so I want to avoid that. I know all the other major X220 problems such as throttling have been fixed, one of the benefits of getting a tried and tested machine.I guess my question really is which one should I buy... I am not a gamer, I will be using it for running SPSS, a statistics package; watching movies and streaming etc.Would I be better getting the sale price on the 220 now or do I wait to see if the x230 has more configurations for the uk in the next couple of months? (does lenovo usually increase the options for configuration?) I don't want to lost a good deal on the 220.What do I do? I am very confused! Many thanks for your helpAlison

I have an issue that is plaguing my ThinkPad X230 Tablet. I have a Lenovo ThinkPad X230 (which I love dearly) and have a few question about ports and booting.  I would first like to verify that the port on the left side of the laptop directly above one of the USB ports is indeed an ExpressCard 54.  I have searched the web, but have yet to find a definite answer, and my user manual simply stated "ExpressCard."  Furthermore, I would like to know if it is possible to boot an operating system from said port using an ExpressCard 34 SSD (64GB).  I have the intention of installing openSUSE 12.3 to the potential SSD and be able to boot from it.  I greatly appreciate any help.  I  would post an image of said port, but I am being told the image file is much too large.

I have a 4 year old Lenovo Thinkpad X230 computer.  Since I upgraded to Windows 10 (two years ago?) my computer has randomly shut off with no warning.  There doesn't seem to be a pattern with regard to when or how this happens.  The computer starts normally every time.  This can happen upwards of 5 or 6 times in an hour (although sometimes it can go several days without shutting off). In the last year (since June 2016), the computer has been evaluated by three different technicians on three different occasions (June, October, January).  Each found no hardware issues, no issues with fuzz/dust, no obvious software issues, no malware or other viruses.  Personally, I have explored the answer on the internet and fiddled with the settings relating to sleep mode (among other suggestions) and nothing seems to have worked.  I recently was advised to revert to the original windows 10, undoing all the updates and additional installations that I've put on the computer.  I did this, and miraculously it helped (although it still shut off twice since then.  This was in February).  In the last two weeks, I was forced to upgrade back to normal and the problem has returned.  Additionally, the first person who looked at my computer (back in June 2016), told me that this was aparently a common problem with Windows 10 and that the only way to fix it was to revert to Windows 8.   I would like to not have to do this, if poss... I have a Lenovo X230, running Kubuntu 14.04. When I disconnect the slice battery at the bottom the system resets, it's very annoying. I don't really have a need to remove the slice battery very often, but essentially if I put the laptop into standby, and put it in by laptop knapsack, the system is off after I get where I'm going. Thoughts? I saw somewhere that allegedly, when you unlock the battery, some thinkpad utility gets notified to switch the power, I wonder if the hotplug is a software only solution, and not doable in standby. Steve Ramage

i have a lenovo x230 and its stuck on a screen and all it says it boot menu.  Any help would be great thanks

Answer:Lenovo Thinkpad x230 stuck on boot menu

I would need to see it to be sure, but my guess is that the hard disk was logically damaged.  That means the boot record or partition information was wiped out.  It could also be a disk hardware error.  Do you have a backup?

Hello. I have a Thinkpad X230. I'm trying to drive video to a Samsung LCD TV via the mini displayport, with a mini displayport  --> hdmi adaptor (i've tried two adaptors now). The X230 detects the the Samsung TV when connected, both in the Sound and in the Graphics Properties. You can hear the connect / see the PC screen flash when the cable is plugged in. Unfortunately I can't get any sound or video on the TV. (I just tried connecting to a Dell Monitor and was able to get it to work.) The TV takes HDMI from my Dell laptop just fine on the same cable/input to the TV.The other problem is that in trying to adjust settings, now when I plug in the HDMI cable via the adaptor, the PC screen goes blank, it seems to be trying to make the TV primary, and the TV is getting the signal, so I have to pull the cable out to get the PC display back. Any ideas on setting / adjustments? ThanksAlan

Hi Alan,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

Can you check uninstalling the current graphic driver from Control panel -- Program & feature option, and download the latest version from the below link.

Intel HD Graphics Driver for Windows 7 (32-bit), Intel HD Graphics Driver for Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hope this helps.

I wanted to give my impressions of the Lenovo TPT2. First off, the model I have is the 3679-27U, this means that it has the digitizer pen, windows 8 pro, no NFC, no 3G/4G antenna (though there is a slot for a SIM card). Let me also be frank about my biases concerning tablets. I am not a voracious media consumer. If Im going to watch a movie or TV program I prefer to do so with a large screen TV in the comfort of my living room. As far as checking email, messaging, twitter, and facebook that is why I have a smartphone. Why do I need another piece of electronic equipment that does the exact same thing as my smartphone? In my opinion iPADs and Android tablets are really only good for media consumption, they give you a slightly larger screen to run the same apps that your phone runs. If Im going to buy a tablet it has to provide some functionality that my phone or laptop cannot, otherwise it is a waste of money. Therefore, a tablet had to be able to run productivity programs: MS Office, Photoshop, Illustrator, GB-Stats, etc That meant a tablet using either the Atom processor or a Core processor (i3, i5). This left out not only Apple and Android but also any tablets running Windows 8 RT. Obviously one the major advantages of a tablet is its size and portability. My laptop is a comfortable size and fairly easy to carry around, so what advantage would a tablet give me. The answer is battery life. In order to be practical I would need a laptop with a significantly longer run time tha... Read more

Answer:The Lenovo Thinkpad Tablet 2: Everything a tablet should be

Nice review. I have had my TPT2 for a little over a month now. I have used it extensively as my only device away from the office and have been able to do so without adjusting my computing needs too much. The only drawback that I have had is an under-powered USB port where i am unable to attach my external hard drive. Anything that I knew I was going to need for the day or trip I load onto a USB stick and problem averted.
Edit: I suppose I should mention that my usage is not too intense in terms of productivity. My programs of choice are typically the Microsoft Office package. I do a lot with excel, word, and power point and so far, I haven't run into any issues. I'm in the process of getting a new monitor for home and i'll have a better idea what it's like running a multiple monitor setup from the TPT2 and mini HDMI to HDMI connection. At this point I have a BT keyboard and Mouse which I have been using for the past few days with no issues (except when the battery is close to dying in the keyboard and it behaves as if it is possessed).
I might be one of the lucky ones but haven't had any issues with the wifi signal, sleep issues others have experienced, etc. Outside of the USB and mini HDMI to VGA issues, I'm still completely satisfied. If Wacom could update the drivers to enhance the accuracy of pen input, then I'd be completely satisfied given my particular usage patterns.

I need a thinkpad tablet that has a 14'' or above display. X230t, helix, twist all have only 12'', too small for work purposes. x-1 carbon touch has 14'', but it's only touch not tablet. I need tablet because I'd like to read pdfs and write notes on them. Touch is vertical and therefore not convenient for this purpose. Does Lenovo have any plan to market a 14'' thinkpad tablet any time soon? Thanks.

Answer:Does Lenovo have any plan for a 14'' thinkpad tablet?

Not sure how much of a help this is to you (it's a work-around). However, with a separate/detachable keyboard option (available for most tablets of any brand) as well as a separate (non-dockable) accessory pen, you can draw and physically type on most any tablet now-adays. I've seen a ton of pressure sensitive, aftermarket pen designs on Kickstarter, similar sites and elsewhere, that use various technologies to enable drawing and writing for just about any device.  It's not elegant, it's not ideal, but it's worth considering if your in the market for a new machine.  Probably worth testing first/reading significant reviews on each piece before you buy as well.  But it may open up many options for you.

Xp tablet was never offered to the general public for sale.  It was only made available to the manufacturers.

So, the only way to get xp tablet pc on your tablet will be to obtain a set of restore discs.  You can try to obtain a set through Lenovo support.  If you are unable to purchase or if they are unavailable, you can get them from the link.  I've bought a few sets of restore discs over the years from them and haven't had any problems.

Answer:Lenovo Thinkpad X220 Upgrade Configuration

Hi, jarmonwhaim

Your plans are grandiose

1. Officially x220 supports 8 gb of RAM maximum. But if works with 16 gb (2x8 gb sticks) fine too. You can purchase Lenovo branded RAM sticks if you are a rich guy. I would recommend to buy the sticks of any vendor you like (Samsung, Kingston, Corsair, Transcend, Hynix etc) according to the following specification: PC3-10600 1333mhz DDR3 SO-DIMM SDRAM, 204 pins.

2. x220 supports a lot of wwan cards for 3g carriers worldwide. If you are not a traveller to US select Ericsson f5521gw HSPA+ WWAN Minicard. Note it must be with Lenovo approved p/n, FRU 60Y3279. I hope there are no specific carriers in your country so you'll don't need the such cards for Malaysia region.

Follow this thread for some discussion and information: WWAN card for the new 420/520 Thinkpads

3. You can fit any ExpressCard 34 or 54 you want - usb 3.0 adapter, eSATA adapter, tv tuner, media cards reader, audio/video card, wireless adapter etc.

4. Upgrade BIOS to up-to-date version and buy almost any 2,5" sata II (or III) SSD drive you'll can pay - Intel, Samsung, Crucial, Plextor etc. My advice is not to buy OCZ models. I would recommend the new model is better, the more capacity ususally means the more speed. Not the height of the drive should be 7 mm. You can post here models you'll find so we'll look at them and select together.

Good day! I have a question regarding a configuration. Using the online configuration tool I selected as "First Hard Drive" the default 500 GB, 7200 rpm, 2,5", SATA3 drive, and, as "Second Hard Drive", the 256 GB SSD PCIe-NVMe OPAL2.0. With this configuration, will the operating system be installed on the SSD PCIe-NVMe drive or on the mechanical 500 GB hard drive? Thanks!

Hi all.
I am running into some trouble and would like to know if anyone here is having the same issue. Hopefully, I'm not the only one with a Thinkpad Tablet 2 here.
I went to update my tablet to Windows 10 yesterday and ran into a few problems. Windows 10 was not downloading correctly and I would get a Windows Update error. Finally, when I got up this morning the update was ready. However, I have now hit a new snag. Hence why I come to you good sirs.
When I click on the update icon on the system tray, it gives me an error. The screen states:
"Unfortunately, this PC is unable to run Windows 10."
"We're sorry to let you know that this PC can't upgrade to Windows 10 because one or more things are incompatible."
Then on the right, it states:
"Compatibility issue:
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator
The display manufacturer hasn't made your display compatible with Windows 10. Check with the manufacturer for support."
Here's a screenshot:
Can anyone tell me what I can do about this? I've already gone to Intel and Lenovo and updated everything they have and still nothing. Would mounting and running the ISO work? Would anyone even recommend that considering the warning about incompatibility?
Thanks in advance and I hope to hear from you all soon.

Twice now, my Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet Digitizer Pen - stylus has dropped out of the tablet only to be found later on my family room floor.   Given the expensive price tag on these pens (Office Depot has for $65), it would be nice if these pens could be locked into place so that they don't come up "missing" for whatever reason.   Has anyone else found a way to keep better track of their pen, short of not putting it in the holder on the tablet? Joe

Answer:Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet Digitizer Pen - stylus

Have you tried to tether it to your tablet?  There is a hole in the stylus clip and the tablet that you can use.  Beyond that, you can send it in to have the stylus catch replaced and see if that helps.

I have been using my new Yoga over the weekend, and it has reminded me of the ugly truth about all convertible tablet/laptops. Background: I have used Windows tablets for ten years. I still have an X61 tablet that this is meant to replace. There are some facts about tablets that also function as PCs that people will have to come to grips with.Unless you are a graphic artist, the ideal tablet size is about 9 to 10.5 inches. (This is assuming you want to do more than just media consumption.) In other words, Apple hit the size exactly right with the iPad - it's easy to hold and work with in both portrait and landscape orientations. A laptop, on the other hand, becomes really usable at about 12". It's just a matter of having room for the keys and being able to see the screen at the greater distance than a tablet that you hold up to your face. In addition, a 16:9 (wide screen) shape can make a laptop experience better. But on a tablet, that is too tall and awkward to be used in portrait mode.  You can see where this is going - there is no "sweet spot" where a form factor makes both a good tablet and a good lightweight laptop. This is what I call "the curse of the convertible", because in a convertible tablet the screen size is married to the keyboard size. That's the problem: small screen = better tablet; larger keyboard = better laptop. In a convertible you can't have it both ways. You will have to make a compromise that either favors the bigger laptop or the ... Read more

Good write-up on using the Yoga 13 in either tablet or laptop mode. What you left out was the other two modes, tent and stand mode.  While I do agree with your assessment of the Yoga being rather large for handheld tablet mode, I have used it in landscape tablet mode propped on my legs on the couch.  The other modes do make it more practical for watching movies and other touch enabled functions. Tent mode is my favorite, with the only frustration being that a few applications don't properly auto-rotate since the screen is physically upside down in this mode. Stand mode will be useful in an airplane seat. I'll be a bit leary using that mode much other than that because I will be worried about placing the keyboard and touchpad face down on a potentially dirty or damaging surface, even though the keyboard is recessed. I may be more inclined to use this mode more if I get the sleeve which will better protect the keyboard and trackpad. Overall, I like the flexibility of the Yoga 13 and I love the high res 1600 x 900 screen. Granted, it will not be perfect for everyone, but it was just what I was looking for.

Hi, welcome to the forums.

Can you please post the full model number of your Thinkpad Yoga 14?
Are you using Windows 10?

I may suggest you first to try to update the Wifi drivers and maybe some other of the system driver of you Yoga.
Here are my general tips:

1) Try first Windows Update and update all the drivers and Patches
2) Try Lenovo System Update to get any new/missing drivers.
3) Try to install Lenovo Settings and Lenovo Companion from the Windows App Store, Lenovo Companion also has a "update driver search"
4) Sometimes all that software does not recognize some updated / missing driver. Check Lenovo's Support Site and search for your specific model drivers (use the full model number of your Thinkpad).

After that we can try a little bit more. For example I also like to test it on some other Wifi networks just to be sure it is not a compatibility issue with the Wifi Router.

Regards

I currently use a Lenovo ThinkPad S1 Yoga, and have recently upgraded the 64-bit OS from Windows 8.1 to 10.Since then I have been experiencing issues where ?Tablet Mode? will activate suddenly and randomly while I am using my ultrabook in laptop mode. This is especially frustrating because it often occurs while I am using the keyboard which will then be disabled, and cannot be re-enabled. I have attempted to turn on/off the various Tablet Mode settings ? ?Make Windows more touch-friendly??, ?When I sign in...?, ?When this device automatically??, ?Hide app icons??, but no pair of settings seemed to work. In the end, I am forced to reboot, which is the only solution that resolves the matter. What steps can I take to resolve this matter once and for all without having to restart the system constantly?

Answer:Spontaneous Tablet Mode w/ lenovo thinkpad s1 yoga

Hi

In my case I have a Thinkpad Yoga 14 and it took me some time to stabilize Windows 10 on it. I went updating the driver over time until it get stable.

I also have some settings similar to you, but mine (for example)  sometimes switches to tablet mode when I close the lid, but when I open it Windows change very fast to laptop mode, so it does not bother me.

I can suggest you to try to update your drivers, here are some of my tips to update the drivers on a Thinkpad when going to Windows 10.

These are some of my tips to update the drivers of your Thinkpad:

1) Try first Windows Update and update all the drivers and Patches
2) Try Lenovo System Update to get any new/missing drivers.
3) Try to install Lenovo Settings and Lenovo Companion from the Windows App Store, Lenovo Companion also has a "update driver search"
4) Sometimes all that software does not recognize some updated / missing driver. Check Lenovo's Support Site and search for your specific model drivers (use the full model number of your Thinkpad).

If you have more experience installing and uninstalling driver, there are some other things you can do, but those options os AS IS outside Lenovo's suggestion.
1) There is DriverEasy that offers a decent for free scanning of your device and shows you which drivers can be updated from their database.
2) According to your machine devices you have the Intel Driver Update Utility and the AMD Driver Update Utility, sometimes it can help... Read more

any ideas?

Answer:How can I get the driver on my Lenovo Thinkpad Tablet 2 working on Windows 10?

i've heard that thinkpad t2 doesn't handly w10 because of issue with the intel video driver, most drivers should work, go to lenovo page and install w8.1 drivers that maybe resolv the error, if not, go to windows update and see if there's any driver update, download and restart the lenovo.
if not, you should go back to 8.1 maybe it's for the best, also do you have the latest bios firmware? look for me in fb if you have any questions, i'm seba rodriguez.

I think I need help! But in terms of what technology I am going to buy, I deffinitely need help.
I currently have a 6 year old laptop running Vista and running very hot and slow - despite cleaning removing just about everything I can do without. Reliability is a problem and I need to replace it.
I also have a desktop that I use for the important things but this will be going to the ex as part of the separation - she uses it for work.
Finally my phone is an HTC one that appears to struggle for memory.
What I use these things for:
- work (will be increasing the need to do this) - word, excel and powerpoint at least full Office 10 level - mainly excel data analysis with pivot tables then writing reports and using data into presentations. Needs to be portable and quick. Not necesary to have projector.
- social - this is where the phone is struggling - linkedin and facebook, sync'd with outlook for diary management. Also will be looking for something that can stream media for i-player to watch catch up TV through (BBC a priority so potential android problem?) and good quality camera for skype conversations with my son.
Ideally I would like one "thing" that is portable, fast, able to store (although an external storage is easy enough to get) and view media, big enough screen, practical keyboard, reliable and not a rip off.
What I consider to be in the right ball park - Surface pro or lenovo yoga.
Money-wise - I'm a Yorkshireman so don't "want" to spend anything... Read more

Hi everyone, this is my first post/question.  I am hoping someone can tell me that it is possible to add on the fingerprint reader that was optional at the time of purchase of my X220 Convertible Laptop/Tablet.  I foolishly assumed (as I've never needed/wanted one before) that I had no use for the fingerprint reader.  It occurs to me, however, after many logins at the windows screen, every single time the computer comes back from sleep, that it would be very useful and convenient.  I am regretting having decided not to get it (it was only $20, so it was really stupid not to).Any information would be helpful, but if adding the reader is possible, a part number would be great.  I appreciate any help you may be able to give me, and thank you for reading, and especially if you reply!Peter

Answer:Wish to get X220 Convertible Tablet Fingerprint Reader

I have no idea if it can be done or not.  My advice would be to call Lenovo directly and ask them.  It may be that it can be added, but not by the end user, because it looks like the bottom piece of plastic on the screen would need to be changed and I doubt that is considered to be a user serviceable part.  So, even if it can be done, you might have to take it to a Lenovo service center to get it done.  If I were you I wouldn't kick myself that much if you are only worried about windows logins.  The primary reason I got mine was to use as an access point to an eWallet type program that contains credit cards, passwords, etc.  There is a program that ships with the machine that is supposed to work for finger swipe type web site logins.  However, I have some concerns.  I haven't been able to find any good documentation on it for things like exporting the data to be used by another program, transferred to a new computer, or just exported to text to go back to the old way of typing things in.  I just don't want to get locked into a specific program and if I can't export everything to at least text, it means that I will need to keep copies of everything somewhere else, which kind of defeats half of the purpose.  Anyway, I hope things work out for you and that others respond.

I have recently purchased the X230T Convertible Tablet.  I have to say that I love it.  It is just what I wanted.  I am having one issue though.  The display flickers, and squiggly lines appear from time to time for a brief few seconds.  I have searched the internet for this problem and see that I am not the only one that has this issue.  I have adjusted the refresh rate and that was okay at first but now we are back to the flickering, fading in and out.  I've adjusted brightness settings, restored default settings, checked for updates both windows and lenovo.  I'm selfish and don't want to send my laptop off for repair or leave it at a technicians shop for days... Has anyone else experienced this problem? What kind of a fix is there for this?  PLEASE HELP !!!

Answer:X230T - Convertible Tablet Display Problem

I posted this a couple of days ago and haven't had any responses.  I spoke to Lenovo Tech Support this morning.  They said it could be a cable in the computer that is loose and I would have to send it in.  I had done some research online and something triggered when the question was raised about the ultra base.  I had been plugging my power cord into the ultrabase and not into the computer direct.  I wasn't sure that could be a problem, but I decided this morning to plug into the computer directly instead of the base.  I have been using the computer all day and no issues with the flickering display.  I'm going to try it for another 2-3 days and make sure that is fixed.  If so, Lenovo will ship me a new ultra base.  Keep your fingers crossed !!!

of course i am now out of warranty. I did not drop it or hit it; I just close the tablet quickly and put away when i am rushing out. how can this possibly crack a well made screen? that just doesn't seem right? what are my options? i want lenovo to assume some responsibilty for this; this seems fair. I ordered the tablet 12-13-2011. Help! Thanks.

I know there are multiple threads where people posted chat transcripts where they were told Nov 16th was the release day. I did the same thing to see what I would be told, and was told "we cannot, say, but sometime in Nov".
Its officially posted, so no more questions or doubt are needed.http://lenovo.7eer.net/c/159229/2188...ad-tablet-2%2F
I am excited.
I wish it hand a dockable keyboard similar to the Samsung and Asus Win 8 x86 tablets, but 11.6" seems to be too big and hefty to use primarily in "tablet mode". Something lighter and thinner than the iPad seems to be a perfect tradeoff for a smaller screen...for me anyway.

Answer:Thinkpad 2 Tablet Release Date of Nov 16th Officially Posted on Lenovo.com

Great news... Im excited to check it out too! Next question will be where can we buy and / or check it out in person.
I think at the Microsoft Store pre-order info page it said something about Staples being a seller. I hope they will have it in store to try out.

Hello
I've been trying for hours to place my order on this laptop :http://shop.lenovo.com/SEUILibrary/controller/e/web/LenovoPortal/en_US/catalog.workflow:item.detail?...

At first I wanted to buy a different Lenovo laptop from amazon (with Dual GT 650m graphic cards instead of Dual GT 750m) but then I stumbled upon this beauty right here.

I used/activated the eCoupon option AND "pay with amazon option". When I want to checkout and I get to the "Shipping address section " it says :

Invalid area code. Please enter a non-special telephone number (non toll-free)

Here's my Shipping address info:

I've tried writing it down without " + " symbol, and without " 1 " at the beginning but it still says the phone number is invalid. Help me put please I've been trying for hours now (

hi Junpoppa,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

The 866 area code is a toll free number prefix. Are you sure this is your area code?  According to this New Castle White Pages, the New Castle Area Code is 302. Perhaps this is your area code? If that doesn't work, have you tried a cellphone / landline?

Hi All,I've bought LENOVO X230 THINKPAD TABLET, i7-3520M, MULTI-TOUCH on eBay, and I got it with a broken motherboard.  I couldn't turn it on when I opened the box, and I gave it to IBM's service in Israel. Now they just told me that they don't have the part, and they are waiting to get it from the US only next week. It means that I will use my NEW computer only 2 weeks after I got it!It relly make me feel very disappointed from Lenovo's quality! Does it make sense? I needed it for work and now I'm working with a terrible computer! How is it happen to a company like Lenovo that they sell a new expensive computer with a broken motherboard??? Don't they have a quality control ? Do I deserve a compensation?

I've been interested in upgrading to a tablet/convertible for some time, but have been extremely hesitant about getting one for multiple reasons. It just feels like if I want portability, I have to "sacrifice" elsewhere. Ultimately, the following are items I won't back down on, and what I'd really love to have:
1. Small screen size - preferably 7" (up to 10", maximum - Only if necessary)
2. Affordable (don't want to spend thousands)
3. Convertible - capability of attaching or removing keyboard
4. Capability to play older games, like Unreal Tournament 2003, old Ghost Recon/Island Thunder, etc., Quake III Team Arena, etc. If the tablet/convertible can handle Rogue Spear Raven Shield, Athena Sword, etc., that would be a bonus!
I don't just want to use it for gaming, but want to be able to game on it as well. The netbook I currently have can handle the aforementioned games, with the exception of the Rogue Spear Raven Shield games. I currently have a Dell Duo, but it's not a true convertible, as it cannot be detached from the keyboard. The Duo meets all of the video and system requirements to play the Ghost Recon, Unreal Tournament and Quake III Team Arena games. From the looks of things, the slowest processor required for the games is 300 MHz, and the fastest processor required is 1.5 GHz.
In terms of minimum video requirements (for the games), they are as follows:
1. Ghost Recon, GR Desert Shield, Island Thunder. Video Reqs: 16 MB Direct X 8 Comp. 3D Card
2. Quake III Team Arena... Read more

Answer:Any recommendations for a small Windows tablet/convertible laptop/UMPC?

Since you were already able to run those games on a netbook, go try out a Surface 3 with 4GB of RAM and see if it works for you since 10" is your max screen size. If you can go up to 12", there are more to pick from.

I had the (refurbished) XPS 12 Convertible for about 10 hours now and I am scared of what I have seen so far and what there is to come.
1.  WiFi connectivity gets lost/broken very often and/or stuck in 'Limited' status (no connectivity).
2. WiFi always is disconnected after closing / opening the lid and often times is unable to get signal back (or takes long time 3-7 minutes) for the signal to return. I have made the appropriate setting adjustment for windows not to cut power to the WiFi Card when in sleep mode, and also set the power settings to Maximum Performance. No luck.  I have installed all of the latest drivers from Dell and, with support, also tried the Intel (more updated) drivers for Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6235. No luck. Update to new Bios, still no major improvement. After hours with Dell support, it looks like they will send someone over to replace the WiFi card.
I was hoping that was it and that's the only issue I'd deal with. But wait, there is more:
3. Track pad is odd. I am not doing anything fancy, I just want to use it as a courser and left/right mouse click. Sometimes it is totally unresponsive, you have to move your hand off of it and try again for it to register that you are touching it. Sometimes it ignores left or right mouse clicks as if they never happened.
4. Screen brightness a mind of its own too. I have set the screen to be on Maximum brightness in all conditions (power & battery) and have disabled any dell o... Read more

Apologies if this is reprising and earlier question on this topic. I have recently acquired an old-ish second-hand ThinkPad X230 [2325SWK build with a G2ET91WW (2.51) BIOS], accompanied by a ThinkPad UltraBase Series 3 docking station [P/N 0B67692] which has an empty 2" bay.I need advice on the following issues:1    The X230 currently has an SSD installed [Samsung 128GB MZ7TD128HAFV-000L1] which will not be large enough for the programs and program data that I have planned to install.  I would like to upgrade to a 1 1TB SSD, and I propose to clone the contents of the existing 128 GB drive to a 1 TB Samsung 850 Evo [MZ-75E1T0B].  Are there any SATA or other firmware issues that I should be aware of before acquiring the 1 TB drive, arranging for its cloning and for the replacement of the current 128 GB drive?2    I would like to populate the empty 2" bay on the UltraBase Series 3 docking station with an HDD, and the model I have in mind is a 2 TB Seagate BarraCuda Hard Drive [ST2000LM015].  Again, I'd like to know if there are any hardware, firmware or other issues before acquisition and installation.I'd be grateful for any help on either of these two issues in an Australian context.

Did you have the laptop serviced and the motherboard was replaced ?   The appearance of "invalid" usually happens when a replacement motherboard is installed and the BIOS wasn't updated with the model and serial number of the laptop.  This updated information can only be done Lenovo Support as there is no User / Owner software available to write that information.

Hello to all, After long months of research I have found a laptop that seems to be a nice replacement for a X220: Thinkpad Yoga Convertiblehttp://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-Lenovo-ThinkPad-Yoga-Convertible.107937.0.html My questions: - Is it possible to install an aftermarket M.2 drive (~240GB) to be regonised as a separate bootable drive? - Does it fit a a 9.5mm 2.5 inch HDD (Seagate 2TB currently available on eBay)? I have a ThinkPad Yoga 12.5-Inch Convertible 2 in 1 Touchscreen Ultrabook (20CD00B1US) running Windows 8.1 that came factory equipped with a 256 GB SATA SSD (Samsung 2.5" SATA III) and I need additional storage capacity (mainly for storing photos).  I initially intended to replace the original SSD with a larger SSD (specifically a Samsung 850 EVO 2.5" SATA III 1TB  SSD), but then discovered that my ThinkPad Yoga had provision for installing a M.2 drive.  Will the ThinkPad Yoga 12.5-Inch Convertible 2 in 1 Touchscreen Ultrabook (20CD00B1US) support two drives - that is, will I be able to access both the original SATA III SSD (as the boot drive) and the M.2 drive (as a data storage drive)?  If so, how will this secondary drive affect the computer's overall performance?  (I realize that power consumption will go up a bit with a second SSD, but since I use it on AC power most of the time, that's not an issue.)  (** I appologize for accidentally posting this to the Lenovo Android Tablets forum.  I'm new here and didn't realize I had entered the wrong sub-forum**) -Wes

Question: X230 Tablet newbie

Hi all,

I've recently bought a Lenovo X230 Tablet. Specificly a 3434-CTR.

Now, as far as I know, a X230 tablet should have a multitouch screen and pressure sensitive built in Wacom tablet.

I just got this machine and it has a pre-installed copy of Windows 7 64bit Professional on it so I would gather that it has all necesery drivers already installed.

Problem is, the touch screen simply doesn't work - it doesn't respond to my fingers at all. It does work with the stylus pen, though. But it doesn't support pressure sensitivity. I tried using a portable drawing program that has never failed to work with any pressure sensitive pen tablet but it simply didn't work.

I'm guessing that there are some drivers I should install, but I don't know what to look for.

Is it possible that a 3434-CTR doesn't have a multitouch screen nor a pressure sensitive pen tablet?

Welcome to the community.

You may wish to visit the Parts Lookup page. Fill in your S/N and machine type (3434) and it should return a list of parts that went into your build. Either post the whole list back here, or, if it's obvious, post the P/Ns for the LCD panel and we can try to assist further.

I have just done a clean install of Windows 8 Enterprise on an X230, but the Tablet Input Panel does not show. The pen functions fine as a mouse, and this machine ran Windows 7 with no problems so I know there are no hardware issues. Is there any way to force the TIP to show or install the Tablet PC functionality if that is the problem?

Answer:X230 Tablet--no TIP under Windows 8

In the Windows METRO mode, the touch keyboard will automatically come out when the focus is in a text field. In the Windows desktop mode, one way to get the Touch keyboard is:Click the key combination: Windows + C to bring up the Charm.Click the Settings.Click Keyboard and select the Touch Keyboard. Unfortunately, it seems that it does not remember the selection so the next time you click on a text field, you have to go through the process again. I hope MS will change this. Even better is if the X230T is in a tablet mode (meaning the screen is lay flat and on top of keyboard, it will be smart enough to use Touch Keyboard by default. Edit: Another way to display the Touch Keyboard is to click the Touch Keyboard icon at the task bar.

Is there a way to specify different actions for the pen buttons?  For example, when using one specific program, I'd like the side button to function as if it were the shift key instead of the right-click but then have it operate as the standard right-click when in Windows or other programs. Is this a native functionality or is there a third-party program available that could give me such options?

Answer:X230 Tablet Pen Options

aardvarky, This is an excellent question! I definitely understand your wants! Officially, it needs to be a setting inside the software you want to use the digitizer pen in.

Examples:

With the new TBT2 there is a software called QuickSnip, insdie the QuickSnip settings you can change the digitizer pen button from right click to screen capture.

Inside OneNote you can change the settings of the Pen Buttons, here is a link to a X230T Digitizer Pen Input Youtube video that may have more clairification.

So, as Digitizer Pen Technology becomes more popular, I believe we will begin seeing more Applications and Software adding the technology to enhance their user customizations.

The new one has Windows 8 Pro loaded on it and I noticed that many of the programs were optimized for a touch screen by default, I also had the touch keyboard button on the taskbar. This is not a huge deal, but does anyone know if there is a way to remove "Pen and Touch" support or fix this error. hi guys i really want to try a windows 8 tablet and i plan to buy it either by the end of this month or by next January. I am confused on what to pick though
First of all, the reason why I want a windows 8 tablet IS because i like the interface. but more importantly, i need metatrader and cTrader in legacy app as im a full time forex trader. I have metatrader in my iphone but you cant seriously compare that with the windows version (no tabbing, no lines drawing, no fibonacci, etc.). cTrader doesnt even exist there.
im looking to replace my macbook pro (which btw i also installed windows 8 on it through parallels virtual desktop) with a windows 8 tablet to support my trading while im outside
So basically I dont need a super i7 tablet or something. However, im curious to know how windows 8 atom tablets perform. I have seen enough reviews and some people says atom tablets perform badly in legacy apps. Question is, how bad is that bad? Does it lag so bad even though i dont need to run heavy apps like adobe? I only need to run these trading apps which btw are very light. You can compare them with MS paint i believe, just with constant connection.
would it do well in atom tablets? I dont want lags when i switch from win8 native apps to metatrader and cTrader.
next question - how does windows 8 tablet on-screen keyboard work with legacy apps? Would i have special gesture to show up the on-screen keyboard or it automatically appears when i touch the screen? I personally dont believe ... Read more

I forgot to add one more question. how responsive legacy apps (desktop mode) is to your finger? Do i really need a pen or it doesnt help either? Because acer w700 doesnt come with a pen so it's also a crucial question for me

Hello all,I have 230X tablet and I upgraded it to windows 8.Since the upgrade, I feel that the power manager shows wrong time remaining, and every time I try to configure something with the power manager dashboard it crushes as "not responding".I read that the battery should last for 7+ hours, but after a full charge it shows only 3+ I also installed the latest driver from Lenovo's website and it didn't help. Does it sounds familiar? Does anyone has a solution? Thanks!

Answer:Power manager X230 Tablet

Hi, As far as I know, Lenovo has not supported Power Management for Windows 8 yet. What you said happends to me too. The time remaining is not accurate. Sometimes it drops from 25% to 10%, and the computer goes to sleeps after a few seconds... But after I reset my battery gauge, it solves the problem. By somehow, I discover that Power Management does work in Guest Account. You should perform Battery Gauge Reset in your Guest Account. Here is what I do: You should activate your Guest account (When you hit Windows key, type Accounts, Users accounts (in setting) -> Manage other Account -> Turn on GUEST account. You run battery reset there. (it takes long time since the computer will fully charge your battery and then completely discard and then chage again). Unfortunately, you cannot switch account during you perform battery reset and you cannot turn off computer during that time. It takes about ...12h to perform the task. But it works for me. The drawback of Guest account is you cannot connect to internet. I hope that LENOVO would support Power Management soon!. Too bad for a business laptop .

I recently purchased a X230 type 3434-CTO Tablet (the one with gorilla glass). The first night I had it it worked great and I was incredibly happy with my purchase. At the end of the night I began installing an update for windows and let it run overnight. The next day I encountered severe problems with the touch screen. Pen input will not function at all in tablet mode and intermitently in laptop mode. I began with restoring windows to before I updated, then reinstalled windows and all drivers ect. Nothing has worked so far. I brought it to the IT department at my school and they tried using older drivers ect, nothing has worked so far. I am in the process of upgrading my X200 Tablet to the X230T. I had the ultrabase with the X200T with the following accessories Serial Ultrabay Slim DVD Multi (P/N 42T2515) and the ThinkPad Serial ATA Hard Drive Bay Adapter II (P/N 43R1984). I have yet to talk with anyone at Lenovo or read anywhere online if these two accessories with be compatible with the Thinkpad Series 3 Ultrabase. Does anyone have any further information. I would hope I would not need to purchase these again.

Answer:X230 Tablet Ultrabase Compatibility

they use the same type of connector and slots, so it should be compatible in that regard.

I have a Thinkpad X230 Tablet.  The trackpoint and touchpad have stopped working.  This just happened today, after about six months of use.  When I boot the machine, I can move the mouse cursor for a few seconds, but then it stops.  I don't see any error messages.  The Ultranav panel in the mouse control panel applet shows the controls for both trackpoint and touchpad greyed out--they can't be clicked on, and the "enabled" boxes are not checked.  The device manager says that the device is working.  If I try to update the driver, I'm told it is up to date.  If I uninstall the driver and reboot, the trackball and touchpad work, but they seem to be using generic drivers--the ultranav panel does not show in the mouse applet.  I'm told to reboot to complete installation.  However, if I do that, I'm back to square one, with the ultranav not working.  I checked the boot configuration, and it shows both the trackpoint and touchpad as enabled.

If that doesn't work then I would assume it's a hardware problem.
