x200 thinkpad tablet : 'USB Device Not Recognized' on screen rotation

Question: x200 thinkpad tablet : 'USB Device Not Recognized' on screen rotation

I recently did a fresh install of win 7 64-bit on my thinkpad x200 tabletpc, updated all the usual drivers and software from lenovo and windows update. Whenever I rotate my display into tablet mode, I always get the message 'USB Device Not Recognized' in the system tray, windows then trys to find and install device drivers for it but is unsuccessful every time. I have tried to find device drivers to fix this without any success. In device manager, I see the culprit highlighted under Universal Serial Bus Controllers with a yellow exclamation mark sign beside 'Unknown Device' with a location of Port_#001.Hub_#002. I have tried uninstalling and and reinstalling this, still no success. I have tried to disable it merely to stop the annoying prompt from the system tray yet it still comes back and warns me of the same problem. Has anybody else experienced this ? Does anybody have any suggestion for solving the problem ?I'm guessing it is related to the display driver, I will try installing/reinstalling another version of that to see if that fixes it. I'm starting to doubt the integrity of this tablet, I've begun to notice a lot more driver and USB conflicts lately..

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Did you install the Cipset driver.
I guess, this is missing and so unknown devices cannot get recognized well.

What about the tablet button driver?

When i rotate the screen clockwise to tablet mode, the screen will auto rotate to primary potrait by default and the buttons will work as usual. However, when i swivel my screen anti clockwise to tablet mode, the screen will NEVER auto orientate to primary potrait mode and all the tablet buttons will not work if i rotate the screen ANTI CLOCKWISE. Can anyone help me on this? Thanks alot in advance for the replies

Dear community, I found my screen starts flickering not long after I upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10 on my thinkpad x200 tablet. It happens especially when I have an external monitor connected to the laptop and when I maximize a Microsoft Edge brower on screen. Scrolling the mouse will trigger the lines on a page flickering back and forth or partially disappeared. This is really annoying when I want to scroll down a little bit to find some useful information. I have tried to use the "sfc /scannow" command to identify potential problems and to reinstall compatible Thinkpad graphics and video drivers, but no luck. I have also tried other solutions that I can find online (like disabling the issue reporting service), yet still this problem persists. I contacted Microsoft for their assistance, and they suggest me to ask the manufacture to solve this problem. Does anyone know how to fix this problem? Thanks,Qi

Here is a quick soultion to this screen problem in windows 10  1. Type ?msconfig? in run box and open it 2. Click on the ?Services? tab. 3 Scroll down and find two services named ?Problem Reports and Solution Control Panel ?and ?Windows Error Reporting Service?. If you have difficulty finding these two services then you click on ?Service? column header in the table. This will alphabetically arrange all the services. 4. Uncheck these two services. Press ?OK?. Source: Fix windows 10 screen flickering problem

I have never been able to get this tablet screen to rotate according to the rotation sequence settings I have set for it in the control panel tablet settings. It is currently set to go from primary landscape to secondary landscape, then portrait, etc. It NEVER works upon rotating the screen. Doing this, tt always goes straight to the portrait orientations. According to that control panel setting, this sequence is for the button only. From the usual, unfolded laptop position, the sequence does work. However, if I flip the screen then hit the button, it goes out of sequence. Anyone successfully get theirs to rotate properly?

Answer:Thinkpad X61 Tablet rotation sequence....

Yes, had the same issue until I changed the setting in another place that must override the one you set.    Go to Programs > ThinkVantage  > Tablet Shortcut Menu >  Settings (round link at bottom) > Customize Tablet Menu Settings then set the Auto Screen Rotation default value.    The screens will then rotate in the order you set in the Control Panel > Table and Pen Settings > Display > Sequence.   One place to set the default orientaion and one place for the sequence, not sure how or if the two conflict with each other.

Hello,Having totally re-installed my X41 Tablet, with the good drivers found on the Lenovo page, I still have a problem when rotating the picture in tablet mode. The pointer on the screen is not synchronized with the stylus moves (the mouse pointer moves like in the landscape mode, ==> they are perpendicular to the stylus moves).I've tried with no success the two calibration modes (vertical and horizontal), I must have a wrong or a missing driver...Thanks for any idea

I have an HP Pavilion TX2000, which is basically a standard convertible tablet pc.

Whenever I fold the screen into tablet mode, the screen orientation switches to secondary landscape format (i.e. 1280x800 upside down).

It would be much more practical if there was a way to make it switch to primary portrait format (i.e. 800x1280) automatically instead.

Of course, i can use the "screen orientation" hotkey on the right side of the display to manually do that each time, but that's not very practical, especially since a resolution refresh takes about 5 seconds - and two refreshes are needed if the system switches to an unwanted one first.

The windows vista control panel holds an option named "tablet settings", but the screen orientation settings there only modify the sequence of screen orientations if the beforementioned hotkey is pressed, and have nothing to do at all with the action if the screen is folded into tablet mode.
The graphics driver config panel (nVidia control panel) also holds an option to rotate the screen, but similarly, doesn't show any switch for default action if the screen is folded into tablet mode.

HPs preinstalled hotkey bloatware doesn't have any options for that at all, and the system behaves in this respect exactly the same without it.

I am the owner of an X200 Tablet (7448-CTO). I purchased this laptop (+ 3 year on-site repair and Thinkpad Protection) for school just over 2 years ago. Long story short,  I am having EXTREMELY bad luck with the screen on this laptop and am curious about what sort of Lemon Policy that Lenovo might have. Pretty much the only problems I've had with this laptop have been related to the screen. (Although I think I did have to get the motherboard replaced once). Anways, I don't remember my exact repair history, but it seems that within the first 1.5 year of owning it I had to have the screen replaced twice. The first time went well. The issue was resolved. I forget what went wrong next, but on that repair the person apparently wasn't very familiar with the convertible tablets because the screen area/hinge didn't seem put together correctly when he was done. After that repair I caved and mailed my laptop to the depot. However, I did wait awhile to make the service call because the laptop was usable and I needed it. By the time I had time to send it in, they decided to replace the screen. However, this time the part wasn't available and I ended up having to wait for qiute a bit. I finally got it escalated but the guy in Atlanta that was supposed to be doing that completely ignored me (never called to update after the initial contact when he said he would and never answered messages). I finally got through to his backup guy on the phone and that guy *somehow* found the... Read more

luisTablet, welcome to the Lenovo User Community! That's an ExpressCard/34 / ExpressCard/54 slot in your X200 tablet. You need to search for an ExpressCard SmartCard reader.  For instance, Lenovo sells a Gemplus one.

Hi all, This started of as an email to direct to Lenovo, but after 1 hour of going through there various websites only to discover they don't seem to have an online contact form or a public email address. So I am hoping someone here can help me with my questions.  I have a few questions regarding the IBM/Lenovo Thinkpad x200 Tablet (7450-R93).I am aware that this is not your current model and they have been superseded by the x201 model. The x200?s ?touchscreen?, I cannot seem to find any precise details regarding the type of touch screen technology used in these units. What type of touch technology is used in the x200: Resistive, SAW, Capacitive, Hybrid Capacitive or something else?If we were to purchase a lot of between 5-10 brand new units from the USA, is the warranty offered an international warranty?Do you still produce/sell accessories for this model: specifically batteries and do you make a case for this unit that enables table use while still in the case? Sorry I was to slack to rewrite the email that I prepared to send. ;-) Cheers, Matt

"The x200?s ?touchscreen?, I cannot seem to find any precise details regarding the type of touch screen technology used  in these units. What type of touch technology is used in the x200: Resistive, SAW, Capacitive, Hybrid Capacitive or something else?" I own a x200t but not THAT x200t you are looking for, so i don't know. But i can tell you that when it comes to the digitizer option on a x200t you have basicaly 3 options:1) you only have an active digitizer (wacom made) that can be used with the included stylus.2) you have the wacom digitize + the passive-resistive digitizer. The latter can be used with your finger.3)wacom+passive capacitive multitouch digitizer. The fact is that the first x200t models ha the reistive option only. But the last x200t also implemented the wacom capacitive multitouch one.  "If we were to purchase a lot of between 5-10 brand new units from the USA, is the warranty offered an international  warranty?"From what i know ALL lenvo thinpad tablet (x200t or x201t) are sold ONLY with internationa warranty. It doesn't depend on the number  of units you want to purchase. "Do you still produce/sell accessories for this model: specifically batteries and do you make a case for this unit that  enables table use while still in the case?"The accessories are the same fr x200t and x201t. Same are the batteries (8cell or 4 cell), same is the stylus and same is the bumpcase. For the case you are lokking for take a ... Read more

I believe the connectors at the hinge of my x61 tablet is the source of problem. Earlier I mentioned that I had no access to the top of my screen with the digitizer, which is now restored. Now,  when I turn the screen to the 90 degree to flip it over, I lose sound. I have to disable sound device in the device manager and restore it, but remain unable to get sound in tablet mode. Is this a common problem? thanks

Hi,

I upgraded to Windows 10 a few days ago, and have been experiencing frequent BSOD over time for different reasons. Attached is the log of the last one I just encountered today (there are also dumps from some of the earlier BSODs). It occurs when I am not by the computer as usual again. This time, my external monitor was plugged in but not switched on as an extended monitor. Before this one, the BSOD were usually coded as CRITICAL PROCESS DIED or SERVICE error or similar for different reasons. But most of them occur when there is no activity on the computer for a while. My external Dell monitor was usually plugged in as the extended monitor. Those BSOD also caused some hard driver errors which I have fixed yesterday. It also cannot automatically login despite I have set it up.

Basic info on my computer: Lenovo Thinkpad X200 tablet, with Mobile Intel 4 Series chipset of graphics card. From my device manager, I didn't see any obvious problem with drivers so far. Intel does not provide a proper graphics driver for WIndows 10, but I want to use OpenGL.

Hopefully you can help me figure out what's the problem and how to fix it. Thanks.

Answer:Frequent BSOD on Thinkpad X200 tablet with two screens

Just got another BSOD while I left my office for a while. Attached is the dump file.

PS: I tried to read the dump file by installing windows debugging tools, but I got the "win32 error 0n193" error. I tried to use the x86 windbg.exe, no success. If anyone can point out how to read the dump file by myself if analyzing the dump file will take a while, I would appreciate it!

For the past 3 weeks my thinkpad table x200 has not been working. Thanks to the great lenovo/ibm support. I am looking for help. I called the support and explained the problem, I was encountering with my thinkpad tablet. They told me, I have to reinstall vista. So they sent me the vista/lenovo install disk. Very fast (3 weeks later, so yesterday) I finally get the dvds (3 in total). But how do I install vista without a dvdplayer. Unfortunately,I don't have one with my machine. I supposed, they knew what they were doing at Lenovo.  Does anyone has a way to do it? Should I place it on an external hardrive, an usb key? Thank you for any help you can give me! If I cann't find a way to do it, I will call back the lenovo/support... gosh at the end of the week, it will be 4 weeks..  Bye Hernan

Answer:How to install vista on my thinkpad tablet x200 without dvdplayer

Do a search online for installing vista through a USB drive. Requires one 4+ GB in size. Isn't a terribly hard thing to do.

On Tablet PCs, screen orientation can be changed so that any side of the screen can become "the bottom" of the desktop.
Unfortunately, the result is that a wallpaper intended for a 1200 x 800 desktop, is stretched to fill a 800 x 1200 desktop. See the effect in the attached images.
Is there any way to lock wallpapers to a physical side of a screen?

Answer:Screen Orientation and Wallpaper Rotation (on Tablet PCs)

The easiest solution may be a tiled wallpaper. Something that's just a pattern.

edit: I found this page. I have no idea if it works. I only have desktop machines:

I'm wondering if its possible to connect my X200 Tablet to my desktop to utilize it as a tablet input device, basically adding another monitor with the functions of the tablet.  Much like a Wacom Cintiq tablet.  I recently purchased the X200 to add another tool to my estimating & project managing software for my construction company.  I've been extremely impressed with its versatility and function on the jobsite, but I'm realizing I could use a digital input tablet for my desktop estimating software as well.  It would be great to have the best of both worlds with this already expensive product.

Answer:Using X200 Tablet as Desktop Input Device?

You can connect the video output, but at this time there is no way to access the tablet input through an external port on the Tablet PC.  That input is cabled directly to the Tablet planar.

Answer:X61T XP -> screen blank on rotation to tablet mode

Since there have not been postings on drivers/settings related to blank screen and rotation, I would assume it is hardware related and deserves a visit to a service center.   The service center will fix the problem either way.   The software related to the screen rotation normally changes the screen only after full rotation and as you start to lower the lid from laptop to tablet.   If your screen goes blank (instead of rotating) as you lower the lid, it is possibly related to software.   Might also check your presentation mode and screen settings under the Tablet Shortcut Menu, if you have changed any of these setting from their default.

Strange new problem with my X61 (running vista, fully up to date, 4 gigs ram, etc.) When I rotate it into slate mode, the wireless disconnects and refuses to reconnect properly until I reboot. I have verified this behavior many times. More confusing: the wireless connection icon in the right side of the task bar remains in connected mode, but if you click it, it will not give you the usual windows panel allowing you access to the networking screens. Stranger yet, if you physically shut off the radios with the switch on the front, the radio LED stays lit, and using Fn+F5 to bring up the radio screen, doesn't allow me to cycle the radio on or off either. Possible cause: I have uninstalled "Access Connections" because it has been nothing but trouble for me:  This may be a variation on the old "display cannot work in secondary landscape mode when wireless WAN" is active message that I used to get. Basically, this computer does not have wireless WAN, never has, but for some time, when I tried to use the screen in secondary landscape in slate mode, it would give me that message and turn the screen to some other orientation. This was obviously unacceptable, and I uninstalled access connections which seemed to solve the problem. With a recent automatic lenovo update, it reinstalled access connections and started that problem again, which is why I uninstalled it yet again. But now, this. Anyone see this? I seem to remember that screen orientation was... Read more

Answer:X61 Tablet Wireless Turns Off/Crashes on Screen Rotation

Funny that you should post this because I literally just registered for this forum so I could add a post for this exact problem (as well as a temporary fix) in the hopes that Lenovo would quickly remedy this situation.  I am kind of a tech newbie and only recently started troubleshooting my computer problems on my own so please excuse any lack of proper jargon during the course of this post.  Anyway, the problem I thought (much like you) was the updated version of the Access Connections version 5.02 that was recently released by Lenovo that automatically updated to my tablet.  So I uninstalled 5.02 and reinstalled the older version 4.52.  After restarting my computer, I tried rotating my screen to tablet mode-->the wireless disabled, Access Connections froze, Wireless LED would stay lit, and it would kick me out of using secondary landscape mode with the wireless enabled even if I tried to turn the wireless off with the hard key on the front of the keyboard.  Same problem persisted exactly as you posted.   I then went to my ThinkVantage System Update and looked at my update history to see what other recent updates might have been responsible.  I came across one called "Intel Wireless WiFi for Vista 32-bit" version 12.00.4000.  After doing some digging on the Lenovo website I found the driver: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-70505 Anyway, I figured it would b... So I upgraded to Windows 10, everything works out, but I noticed from Matlab that the OpenGL support is only on the version of 1.1. I further pocked around , and found the graphics accelerator driver is from Microsoft and has some known issues (from Matlab). Then I downloaded the Intel Driver Update Utility to update the graphics driver, but nothing can be found there. Back to Windows 7, the Intel Driver works fine for me and gave OpenGL ~2.2 support. Does anyone knows better drivers in Windows 10 than the default Microsoft one? Thanks in advance.

I previously had windows 8.1 installed and had everything working fine.  I did a clean install of windows 8.1 as I was having issues with write permissions. I did not notice having the problem with my screen not rotating at that point, but I hadn't needed to put it into tablet mode.  Since updating to windows 10, my screen will not autorotate. The buttons work to turn the screen, but this is annoying when wanting to change from one mode to the other.

Does anyone know what drivers I need for this (for Windows 8 or 10)? (perhaps I didn't install them after my last clean install).

Hi, I recently purchased X1 yoga 2016. At first, the screen rotation function worked perfectly. Recently, when I rotate my screen and enter tablet mode, the screen won't flip at all. I would like to work in the portrait mode but my screen didn't rotate at all. I make sure that the rotation lock is off. I appreciate all comments on this issue. Thank you so much.

So a client of mine bought the Twist with Windows 8 on it and really did not like windows 8 and asked me to repalce the install with Windows 7, wiping out the drives .... I managed to get all but 2 devices identified and install, one has an ID of PNP0C40 which is related to a button and the other one PNP0C60 is related to a convertable laptop display sensor. The PNP0C60 is likely related to my problem, no screen rotation. Is there a driver for this sensor that might work with Windows 7?  If the answer is, we do not support windows 7, could someone reccomend a forum where folks are trying to downgrade the Twist to 7? my searches come up with mostly amazon reviews. Thanks, if anyone needs help with any of the other drivers for Win 7 on the Twist ... I'd love to help   Ken

Dear Forum, Ever since I installed Windows 10 the automatic screen rotation doesn't work. I have the impression that Windows doesn't even know that my Thinkpad has the corresponding sensors. In the device manager, there is no "Sensor" section, I have no "Rotation lock" button in the quick settings (not greyed out, it's not even there), and the physical rotation lock button does nothing. I checked that the services "Sensor Data Service", "Sensor Monitoring Service" and "Sensor Service" are running and automatically started.I read here on the forum, that there should be some "HID sensors V2" visible in the Device manager. This doesn't show up, so I have no idea how to reinstall drivers. Any suggestions how to teach Windows that it has more hardware than it thinks it has?

My screen lock rotation button stoped working. When I press it nothing happens.I can "manually" lock/unlock rotation with on screen menu and rotation is working properly.I did not notice when button excatly stoped, but it think it is related to installation of second monitor software (Dell Display Manager). Is there any way to reastablish this function without reinstalling whole machine. I tried to reinstall various yoga drivers: graphic card, hot keys, ACPI, ...) but it did not helped. It is minor cosmetic problem, but I would like to have it: instead of one click, i must make one swipe, and 3 taps on screen menu :-) Thanks!

Hi all, I have recently upgraded to windows 7 (64bit) and now when I  put my tablet into tablet mode, the screen doesn't autorotate and none of the tablet buttons work. In order to rotate the screen I have to right click on the desktop and choose graphic properties/rotation.Interestingly if I press the tablet buttons while in tablet mode and then rotate the screen up to notepad mode within a few seconds the button will perform its function (rotate screen, activate tablet shortcut menu, etc). Does anyone know how to fix this problem? I've tried running system update (4.0) to no avail. Cheers

Hi,I have installed a clean Windows 8.1 on the Helix and have several issues. Putting them into several threads so they can be answered independently. The first thing I did after installing the system (and critical Windows Updates) was running the Lenovo System Update tool and downloading everything. Screen rotation does not work. In ?Device Manager? I can see ?C5621 gw Mobile Broadband Geolocation Sensor? and ?Hid Sensor Collection?. The HID one has an exclamation mark next to it. Are there some drivers I need to download to make this work. I did of course check if screen rotation is not locked ? it is not (I did turn it on/off a couple of times, without any effect). Manual rotation (using display settings) works fine. Thank you in advance for any help,?ukasz

Answer:Thinkpad S1 Yoga screen rotation issues after windows 10 upgrade

Hi sumitgoyal3832
Welcome to the forums. Can you please post the full model number of you Thinkpad S1 Yoga?

I have a different Yoga Machine, but when I upgraded to Windows 10 it took me some work updating the drivers to stabilize it. Maybe you can try to updating the driver.

I try that in this order:
1) Windows Update - Check for any update there
2) Use Lenovo System Update to see if it find any BIOS or Driver update
3) Install Lenovo Settings and Lenovo Companion from the Windows Store.
4) Sometimes some newer drivers does not show on System Update or on Lenovo Companion. Check also the "Lenovo Support Site" with you full model number and check for any driver... you can sort driver by date.

But maybe your computer is a older one and does not have Windows 10 drivers on the Lenovo Site.
In that case I also use "DriverEasy" but that is un-support from Lenovo and AS IS under your own risk. But in my case that tool helped me out a lot to find newer drivers on my machine.
I hope this tips can you some help.

I recently purchased an X200 Tablet from ebay and was curious as to what type of screen it has.The model number is 7453-W75, which doesn't help as it's a CTO. The screen is pen input only. The reason why I am confused is because if I look under device manage it shows the display ID as LEN4011. Further research shows that LEN4011 is a Samsung LED back-lit PVA panel. But people who had that got different results from other identification programs. What really confuses me is that the back of my Thinkpad has the warning for a lamp with mercury, which means it must be CCFL back lit and not LED, but LEN4011 is LED.IIRC, the only CCFL pen input panels were the Hydis IPS ones?Any help that doesn't involve taking apart the laptop would be appreciated! Thanks!

I received my X200 Tablet with the Superbright LED screen a few months ago, and I have been suffering from severe eye strain and headaches ever since. I knew my woes had something to do with the display itself but I couldn't quite figure out the exact cause until recently.  Using my cell phone camera, I discovered that the screen was flickering. Because the refresh rate of the cell phone camera is relatively low, it interferes with the flickering on my LCD screen. Through the cell phone camera, the screen appears to have moving dark vertical or horizontal banding (depending on the cell phone orientation).Through some internet searches and participation at other forums, I discovered that LED displays uses pulse width modulation (PWM) to dim the display. PWM in effect, flickers the screen on and off at variable rates to create the illusion of a dimmer display. In the case of X200 Tablets equipped with LED backlit displays, the screen flickers 100% of the time when on battery even at the highest brightness level. I'm assuming this is to conserve battery but it wreaks havoc on my eyes and sanity. The only time my laptop stops flickering is when it is plugged in and set to the highest brightness. I now find myself constantly seeking an electrical outlet whenever I want to use my laptop even if my battery is fully charged. This really takes away from the convenince of my laptop. Furthermore, it is usually too bright at the highest brightness level unless I am outside or ... Read more

Answer:Flickering LED Screen on my X200 Tablet

Same here with this x200 LED touch panel.  Thought this issue would not affect me, but after using the machine at half-brightness I start to get some sort of headache which goes away instantly when I turn up the screen brightness to max and set the gamma to very low (software brightness). My previous machine has a higher dpi (smaller dots) and I do not have this issue.  It has a CCFL backlit screen.  This x200 screen flickers at 90Hz which a percentage of the population do react to.  Why doesn't Lenovo QA these sort of 'human issues' as we are paying quite a high price for these machines?  And no, here in the UK we are fixed to one single non-configurable x200 tablet.  There are NO hardware options, so we cannot order a CCFL non-touch screen.  It would be very nice if Lenovo could replace my panel with a non-touch CCFL version to allow me to use the machine at lower than full brightness without getting headaches.

Sigh.  Hopefully someone here can help me. Does anyone know the type model number for the Thinkpad x200 Ultrabase?? I'm trying to get a defective Thinkpad x200 ultrabase replaced because the USB ports stopped working.  Tested it with other USB devices, on other x200s, etc...no go. I tried going through Lenovo's <sarcasm> wonderful </sarcasm> tech support but for some strange reason they can not replace the part because they cannot find the model type in their system.   I sent them a 600DPI PDF of the back of the docking station to them and they said that they still couldn't find it in their system. This is a company laptop and it belongs to a vice president.  They want a proof of purchase (which I don't have because they are ordered through another department and to get that information it might take a week...at the earliest).  Why do they even have the serial number if they cannot connect it to anything in their system??? The worst part is that this is not the first time I've had issues replacing parts.  Every time it takes at least an hour and the parts NEVER come when they say that they do.  (sorry, once they did...bleeping miracle) I NEVER receive an email saying the part was sent or they are having issues, etc. WORST SYTEM EVER. I hope some high mucky-muck is reading this and gets pissed.  Their system is BROKEN and needs to be fixed. Thank you!

Hi, This problem came from a long story...First, my s230u started having problem waking up after the BIOS update in late September, so I followed the others' suggestions from this forum to downgrade my BIOS.  The hybernate problem fixed.  However, my screen rotation button then failed to function.  I checked the BIOS update webpage and found there was an update 1.61 which could help to solve this rotation button problem, but (1) there was no link anymore for the version 1.61, and (2) I'm afraid if I update my BIOS to 1.61, the wake-up problem will occur again.  My laptop functioned perfectly before the BIOS update in September (the BIOS update was automatically downloaded and installed).  Please help!!!  Thanks.

In fact, I have a long story in dealing with Lenovo Laptops. At first, I bought my first Lenovo laptop around July. It turned out that whenever the laptop is a bit away (next room or 5 meters away) from the internet router, the wifi connection was very weak comparing to other laptop at the same time and place and ultimately it went into the 'Limited' phase i.e. wifi does not work at all. People from Lenovo solution centre tried their best to repair but did not work out. Ultimately they suggested to get the laptop back and buy another new one. So I did. And I bought a ''better'' Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 14 20DM in September 2015 and few problems as of following appeared:  1. Very weak internet connection in distance (5-10 meters or next rooms) from the router (compared to other normal laptops) and ultimately showed 'Limited or Begrenz (in German language)' sign (with yello point on the wifi icon) even though it did not happened so often like my first laptop. 2. I put the laptop in sleep mode and when I opened the laptop after few minutes, the laptop is already shut down. I noticed this many times since November (I did not use my laptop so often in September and October because I was in research). 3. Screen Rotation worked when I bought it in September. After that, I did not rotate the screen again. But I tried to rotate the screen few days ago and it did not rotate. It stopped screen rotatio... Read more

I was experiencing some flakiness with my multitouch screen today where the stylus worked in the the laptop orientation but didn't work in tablet mode. Then, after a reboot, it later worked in tablet mode but not in laptop orientation. Usually, it works in both. I tried un-installing and then re-installing the multitouch drivers at http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-67220.html. My reward was a screen that doesn't respond to touch or stylus regardless of whether the computer is in laptop or tablet mode. So, I tried following in the footsteps of my last problem with the X200 tablet and the stylus not working correctly.http://forums.lenovo.com/lnv/board/message?board.id=X_Series_Tablet_ThinkPads&thread.id=3889 where I uninstalled the multitouch driver, installed the Wacom one at (http://www.wacom.com/tabletpc/driver.cfm?CFID=471857&CFTOKEN=20437195) which gave me at least stylus functionality (no multitouch), and then uninstalled the Wacom driver and re-installed the Lenovo multitouch driver. But unfortunately, I still had a a screen that doesn't respond to stylus or touch. So, I went through the uninstall process again hoping that re-installing the Wacom one would at least give me stylus functionality. But now that doesn't seem to work either, and uninstalling the Wacom driver and reinstalling the Lenovo multitouch driver still doesn't do anything either for either touch or stylus. After a bad experience with a Lenovo Outlet x200s (discovered fmachine was used, not "redistributed", and had non-working WiFi, so had to return it), I am thinking about trying again, this time with a new x200 Tablet, CCFL-backlit.  I'm inclining toward the Tablet because I've read it has a high-quality, high-contrast AFFS screen instead of the cheap TN screen in the x200.  In my mid-50s, my eyesight is not what it was, so I've decided screen quality is important.  I am thinking about the CCFL version because I've read complaints that the LED backlit version "blinks" at 90hz (pulse width modulation used to adjust brightness), producing severe eyestrain in some individuals. Anyway, my question is, has anyone been able to compare the x200 Tablet screen (preferably CCFL-backlit version) to that of the Toshibe Portege A600 or A605?  Are the contrast and brightness comparable or better?  I ask because I have not seen the x200 Tablet, but I have had the opportunity to try a A605-P210.  The keyboard of the A605 is reasonable, although not as good as the TP, but its screen is actually pretty good--better viewing angles than the x200s and a lot better contrast.  It's bright, as it's LED-backlit, but apparently has a sufficiently fast PWM frequency so as not to cause eyestrain.  The A605 is a bit on the flimsy side and lacks the trackpoint; but, it weighs less than the x200 Tablet and&nb... I just purchased a new x200 tablet (model 7450-9SU), running Windows 7 (all the software, including drivers, has been upgraded), which exhibits a strange pixel flickering problem on the built-in screen.  When waking from hibernation, the display produces rectangular regions (typically symmetrically located about the vertical center-line of the screen, and of various number and each of various sizes) of flickered pixels (i.e., different than what they should be), and then degrades as the regions get more numerous and/or of larger size. Any hints out there what this may be, and how it might be fixed?  (Does this sound like a hardware problem or device driver problem?) I am a professor who uses this (or would like to use this) in the classroom to display slides, write on them, etc., but this problem makes the machine unusable.

Good morning folks, Having had a Lenovo x200 tablet for a while now I've been an avid lurker to this forum but it has been my own personal laptop tradegy (lol) that has spurred me on to registering. My tablet, running Windows 7 has been running fairly well for the time that I've had it. However it now doesn't boot at all. Black screen. Registers battery, AC adaptor, bluetooth and the N light. However I don't hear any beeps, I've tried all of the tricks to reanimate the laptop that Lenovo suggests and have removed the DIMM and the laptop does the neccessary beeps, reinsert the ram and no beeps, no boot.  Is there anything I'm missing? Oh.. Possible major point relating to this: This problem occured within minutes of me downloading and installing the latest multitouch drivers for my laptop and OS from the Lenovo website. Please help, thanks in advance.

As you might have guessed this is about a screen malfunction. The past few days my tablet has acted very peculiar. First I had problems with onenote, where ink was moved around without any interaction on my part, and now this. Two days ago the screen just showed up as on the pictures and no matter what I did I couldn?t find the cause or any solution. I powered down and turned the tablet on after having waited for a few minutes and just like that the problem was gone. I have had several encounters with the same problem from that moment forward ? and it drives me up the walls :sI haven?t had time to contact Lenovo support, and even if I did then I don?t know how to proceed? So I?m asking here to see if anybody has encountered similar problems or know what may be the cause of said problems. The video where the problem is clearly shown: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=epfVEo6iVVw

Answer:X200 Tablet Multiview/Multitouch Screen Malfunction

Problem solved   I still don't know what the cause was, but i suspect that i was software related - the reason why? Easy peasy lemon squeezy! I installed "Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB976264)" and tada: the problem was fixed, no more ugly artifacts on the screen

It's a long story but it ends with the fact that I'm looking to get another X200 Tablet. As much as I liked my first Multitouch Screen X200, I'm considering going with the SuperBright screen this time.I had the Multitouch with W7 running fine but I found that I rarely used touch. The pen just worked better. The incremental price is not an issue; more the quality of use for web and garmin mapsource etc. Could anyone advise about the comparison, eg. short comings of the Superbright screen in a pen-only use?

Answer:X200 Tablet Superbright vs Multitouch Screen advice please

The term Superbright isn't misleading, it makes a difference in sunlight and on more than one occassion our employees recieve complaints and requests to dim their LCD's by flight attendants when traveling on commercial airliners at night because it seems to annoy multile rows of seats behind them that it is impossible to determine just which passenger griped about it. A few of our staffers complain about headaches since they don't remember how they set their LCD to max and dim but one had learned how to use power manger and created a custom proifle to dim the screen when the battery fell to 99% capacity  but was embarrased to ask where the LCD dimmer keys were. After months of usage, our screens remain anecdotally as bright but we haven't used light meters to prove it,,,, some things are venerable including sungligt and these LCD's. Unless you plan lots of outside and sunny usage...you may just become prematurely and unecessarily blinded.

I assume the move to Widescreen for the X200 tablet versus the X61 has something to do with this, but I could use some help.  Ona certain email program on the X200 tablet, the text size is so much smaller than what it was on the X61.  After many tweeks in Windows and setting, the text is almost so small for older eyes to read. Also, when you boot up IE or Firefox the text size is so small.  When I adjust the IE or Firefox screen text in the settings, it is fine.  But when I reboot they all go back to the default and older eyes must change the settings again. I get it about the Widescreen, so are there any recommendations ina K12 environment for teachers who are having trouble seeing the text and would like to set up defaults to their liking once and set it and forget it? Yes, Windows settings and IE/FF settings were all adjusted to maximize text, so that 1st level was done.

I've posted about this before, and never gotten any farther yet, but as I figured out some new info I'd repost. So I have a brand new, loaded x200 (1.86GHz, 4gb ram, Intel 5300, webcam, fingerprint, card reader, enhanced multitouch (multi-finger)) with windows 7. It's been fast but I'm still having serious issues when it comes to sleep/hibernate. Using windows reliability monitor, about 5 times a day (out of the 10 times I might need to sleep/hibernate) on trying to sleep by closing the lid or using fn+f4, windows will stop responding. Some info I've figured out about this state:The status leds remain active. Pressing buttons occationally will cause hdd activity, using the external wifi switch will still enable and disable the wifi, so windows is still operating.I cannot connect by remote desktop. It connects, lets me log in, but then all I see is a black screen and a spinning blue circle and have to disconnetVery Wierd: Key shortcuts seem to fail BEFORE this is a problem. Windows Key +L, ctrl+alt+del, ctrl+shift+esc all seem to fail. I know when my sleep won't work by testing those first. I tried using microsoft process explorer to kill any active process, and none seemed responsible. So this is likely a driver/service related issue. I've downgraded most of my drivers to the ones in c:\SWTOOLS as recommended by the forums, tried to disable all non-essential hardware, uninstall anything I could. Still stuck and very frustrated after a month. -Matt&nbs... Read more

I have exactly the same problem,  and have posted in the hope of a fix. There are a coupe of threads suggesting possible fixes, one of which involves deactivating bitlocker, though this did not help solve my problem. Has anyone here put an older version of windows on an X200T, and does it present the same problems?

Hello, I am a first-time Lenovo owner. I recently purchased an x200 Tablet and I am putting it through it's paces and getting it tweaked to my liking. Seeing as this has a touch screen, what is the best way to clean the screen? I searched the forum for suggestions for cleaning the tablet screens but there was only a limited amount of information and the information that was available applied to the x61 tablet. Since I'm not sure if the screens have changed in that sense since the x61 I'm posting the question here. I'm also wondering how to clean the rest of the computer. My first inclination is to use alcohol swabs (not for the screen since it's a solvent) but what do you think about that for the rest of the computer (case, bezel, keyboard, etc.) Thanks in advance for your help!

Answer:New, first-time Lenovo owner- Best way to clean x200 Tablet screen?

I use tap water and a soft paper towel to clean  smudges from the monitor screen, then I wipe thoroughly with a fine microfiber cloth.   For the rest of the computer, I wipe gently with a damp cloth and, from time to time, shoot the keyboard with compressed air.  Ken

Hello...hopefully someone can help & point me in the right direction...I have a Lenovo x200 tablet PC (Stylus Only Version) - and recently installed Windows 7 Professional (64bit) The OS install went perfectly...Once installed, I did all the Systems Updates for Windows 7, including all the updates for Lenovo using System Update 4.01.....However, I have an issue that I cannot seem to figure out... PROBLEM # 1The biggest issue I now face is, whenever I put the Digitized Pen next to the Tablet Screen within 2 seconds I get the 'Blue Screen of Death'....and it automatically Reboots....This ONLY happens when I touch the Pen to the screen.... I uninstalled the 'Wacom Drivers' - within the Device Manager, which i assume were installed by the system update(s)....After, uninstalling the issue of the 'Blue Screen' from happening when the pen touches the screen is gone.....However, I have no way of being able to use the Pen...it does not show any cursor or inking....Is there a specific DRIVER that I should be installing on my own to make this work properly - without getting the 'Blue Screen of Death' each time?....I really need some guidance on this issue.  PROBLEM # 2My Second issue, which is suddenly occured after day 2 of installing updates is the Lenovo System Update 4.01 -- Suddenly, after working on day 1 - now, whenever i try to 'Check New Updates' i get a popup that says "An error was detected with the Package catalog for your system on the System Up... I have been recently getting a lot of BSOD on my Thinkpad "x200" tablet. It may be caused by the fact that I am using a refurbished x201 tablet motherboard with rest of the components from a dead x200 tablet. However, it was working perfectly before I cleaned installed it on last week and I had the Frankenpad working since spring break. I don't know if it started before or after I installed 8gbs of PNY ddr3 ram. I believe it happened after I corrected a Machine code error 2200 on my laptop (lack of serial and model number in bios) and added a Intel 6300 wireless card.

Details:

? Age of laptop: unknown, motherboard was a refurbished product I got during Spring break.
? Current OS installed is 4 days old.

The one crash included was caused by a memory exception probably by an unknown driver

Since you added ram recently I would run Memtest

Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program.

Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5 or 6 passes.

Just remember, any time Memtest reports errors, it can be either bad RAM or a bad motherboard slot.

Test the sticks individually, and if you find a good one, test it in all slo... Read more

I had a thinkpad t540p model 20be004eus upgraded to windows 10. It seems that my laptop has wwan device (I can insert a sim card in the battery bay), however, I cannot get my laptop reconized the wwan. I already try these following: - Check spec of my wwan device noted here which it turned out to be EM7355- Downloaded EM7355 package from here.- Install the software, but it only add Sierra location sensor- Tried to add device manual and use source from the aboved download.- Windows did add the device which error 10, I then can update the device to newest version.- After that a network adaptor appeared on windows network, but always in disabled status (can NOT enable) Do any body know how to deal with this problem?

Answer:Thinkpad T540p cannot recognized wwan device

HiAre you sure laptop has the wwan card em7355 installed? Sim card reader presence doesn't mean laptop has built-in wwan card and even wwan antennas. What's the laptop model code, MTM (Machine-Type-Model)? Is there unknown device in the Device Manager? What description does the device with error 10 have? The same question for network adapter.Note, em7355 doesn't have drivers for win10. The only chance wodem could work is to use OS drivers for modem in the MBIM mode. What's the network type (3G, LTE) and mobile broadband operator name are you trying to connect?

hi all, i have a small, but somewhat annoying problem with my x200 tablet.my usual setup is such that i work on the desktop computer, which is connected by cable to my laptop. after 20 (or so) minutes of inactivity the laptop's screen turns off (this is standard behavior, we all know this). however, when this happens, the laptop becomes inaccessible through the network and the network indicator is showing a red X sign, as if it weren't connected at all. after few seconds, the network comes back online, so it seems to me that the network card turns off and on again, but i have no idea how to fix this problem. same thing happens when i go from the black screen state back to the 'not idle' state (ie. i move the mouse, or press a key, and the screen is back to normal. is there any solution to this? is this happening to anyone else, too? the network driver  is in version 10.1.9.0 from 7.April 2010, according to Device Manager. thanks for any answer.

Answer:X200 Tablet network card turning off/on when screen goes black and back

Sounds like power management for sure. You can go into your control panel, and then click on device manager. From here go to the section called network adapters, and then right click on the adapter (should be intel or whatever card came with your x200). Then click on properties. A new window will open, and in this window you'll see a tap to the right called power management. Make sure the "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" is unchecked then click ok. See if that fixes your problem. Hopefully that is the issue.

Hi I'm replacing a broken screen in a Thinkpad X200 laptop. The model number of the current screen is LP121WX3(TL)(C1). I have found a screen reference LP121WX3(TP)(B1). I have compared the specification on the web and the only difference I can see surrounds the "Signal Interface" The (TL)(C1) is LVDS while the (TP)(B1) is eDP. The "Signal Pin Configurations" are also different although both are 30 pin. I have no idea what these differences mean. Would the (TP)(B1) screen work as a replacement in the Thinkpad X200? Thanks Alan

Answer:ThinkPad-X61t :: Can I use a pen-device with WinXP without Tablet Version of it ?!

Windows XP tablet version is basically Windows XP pro w/ tablet functionality [which is tablet input panel, writing recognition] If you don't want to use that, you don't have to use Windows XP tablet version either. I myself rarely use those functionality, only use pen as pointer and for photoshoping. It works just fine under Windows XP pro + install Wacom driver (or multitouch driver.)

When I resume from sleep mode(I think it only happens when I change the brightness settings) I sometimes get vertical bars roughly 2 inches in width , which consist of segments of horizontal bars a few pixels in width which either stay static and change in location when I change an application or they flicker randomly like tv static. When I then restart, the blue windows 7 shut down screen has a distortion in the middle bottom segment which looks like someone took entire 1/4 inch horizontal segments of the screen and pulled them across so that they dimple out to the right and have a dimpled opening leaving a space on the left. It looks like my screen is being stretched when I shut down.  This is very annoying. I notice it happens seemingly every time I change brightness settings with fn home or end and when I move applications around the screen it seems to change the locations of the bars so that they arent on the application. If the bars appear on resume from sleep, they won't go away until I restart.  I would appreciate a response to this problem.

I installed the latest updates for my X200 tablet from Lenovo and after that install, everything starts up, I see the little round windows graphic and the cool intro sound, then the screen goes blank....the HD light continues to blink every now and then, but the system never comes back to life and I've left it in this state hoping it would "wake up" overnight. I'm guessing I need to reinstall Vista 64, but when I purchased this unit a couple months ago, I couldn't figure out how to create these disks..... , and my last backup was backed up to my USB external HD, and in it's present state, I can't access this USB drive. I've done the fnct F7 and fnct F8, still no response. I depend on this laptop for business and need it for a meeting in the morning.  Is there a way to prove I'm a fully legal MS Vista 64 owner and "download" this software to another computer in my house to burn them to disk and then use that to reinstall Vista 64?  Any other suggestions? BTW, I absolutely love my X200 tablet.  As a result of just using it daily in meetings, close to 25 other folks have purchased the same one after seeing the "pen mode" Please help me bring her back to life.....

Answer:X200 Tablet blank screen after Vista 64 initial startup symbol appears

Welcome to the club! Guess I'll cross-link these two posts for others to stumble upon. Log-in fails after October 2009 ThinkVantage updates I'd always assumed that the restore disks I had were for a Vista 64 restore. But the only thing I have are a rescue and recovery disk to use with Win XP Professional and 2 Product Recovery Disks for XP Tablet PC Edition SP2. I can't find any disks with Vista 64. Was this supposed to happen? Doesn't sound like you have a Vista 64 restore either. I too used mine for work. This is quite the bummer. I'll probably hold out for another week or so to see if there's a fix before breaking down and doing a re-image. There is a X61T owner that has a similar problem to us. Using Vista as well but not sure which version. Vista ex. boot/ logon issues after installing patches on a x61 tabletI wonder how many others are going to have the same problem.

Hello all, Just received my Thinkpad W520 4270 CTO with bluetooth installed. It was a DOS workstation that I installed Win 7 x64 Ultimate on and I finally got all the drivers installed but the bluetooth software says there is no BT device connected to my laptop. I checked the BIOS settings and confirmed the BT is enabled. I even disabled it, saved, then enabled it to toggle. Hitting the Fn+5 combo doesn't trigger the light or any "Found New Hardware." When the laptop first boots up the BT light flashes along with the wifi light and the HDD activity light. I haven't yet been able to load another OS, but I'm downloading Arch Linux and BackTrack 5 to test to see it's possibly an OS issue. Any thoughts or ideas would be helpful, it appears my Google-Fu has failed me as well. EDIT: I realize the sticky about the "do not update the bluetooth drivers" but I'm not getting my bluetooth to work at all, not even being recognized by the OS as an "unknown device."

My wife's x200 thinkpad suddenly turns off when the screen is fully (90degrees) opened. The weird thing is, if the screen is less than 30 degrees open, it starts up fine all the way to the windows desktop. The moment I open the screen more than 30 degrees, it instantly turns off (not a hibernation/sleep). It seems also that the hinges suddenly seem to have a bit more friction.  Could replacing the hinges resolve this issue? Thanks, Martin

Hey guys! Until the day before yesterday my Lenovo Thinkpad X200 worked perfectly for 2.5 years. After I finished working that day, I closed the laptop and went to bed. When I reopened the laptop yesterday - nobody had even touched it inbetween -  there were cracks in the screen (not on the surface, but in the LCD panel) and the right half of the screen didn't work anymore. Today I went to the Lenovo service center in Hong Kong and the (generally friendly) people there told me, that this was no case for warranty, because I had caused the damage. However, as I am sure, that the failure is not my fault, I am really not willing to pay 3000 HKD (400 USD) for a replacement screen (I have a 3 year warranty). What I wanted to ask now is: Has anybody else had similar problems? Does anybody has an explanation, how this damage can occur? And especially: How can I convince the people from the service center to repair it under warranty? I argued with them for 2 hours, but they were not open for my arguments.Just to clarify: I am 100% positive that nobody touched the laptop before the problam occurred. Thank you in advance!Cheers,Markus

Answer:Cracked LCD Screen (Thinkpad X200) - No warranty? **bleep**?

1) can you post an image of the problem?2) Cracked LCD can be due to: a) dropping the laptop on a hard surface. b) the LCD have uneven pressure spot behind the LCD, which when loaded by an external force (i.e. putting a large load on the top case), causes a concentrated stress resulting in LCD cracking. c) closing the LCD too hard, i.e. slamming it shut d) a manufacturing defect or there is construction defect, if the latter usually light spots on the LCD would appear first. cases a,b and c are the most common causes of LCD cracking.Unless you have some sort of proof that the case d was the cause of the LCD cracking, then there is very little likelihood that Lenovo would repair the LCD damage under warranty.

Lenovo Thinkpad X200, around 5 or 6 years old, used every day for past 4 years. Screen has started flickering. No black screen or white outs, just flickering very quickly/lightly, but very obvious.

Tried to check ribbon cable to screen and it seems ok. Started and restarted computer with battery in and out, checked PSU/plug with my spare set and both ok. Changed from 50hz to 60hz resolution and screen still flickers.

Have checked lenovo help site but caught no joy.

Does this sound like the screen needs replacing or the inverter needs replacing or is there something obvious I've missed ?

Apart from this screen flicker it works fine.

Answer:Solved: lenovo thinkpad x200 screen flicker

It sounds a bit as though the backlight is beginning to fail.

Does moving the screen back and forth make any difference. If so it may just be the connector to the motherboard that has worked loose and needs re-inserting.

I think the problem with screen rotation in the tent mode has been discussed extensively. In addition to that I am also facing a problem with incorrect cam screen rotation while using application like Skype. I like using skype in a stand mode, usually the screen orientation works fine but sometimes my camera screen gets screwed completely. Once that happens it is almost impossible to get your picture straight. Remember the screen rotation remains accurate during this. So in other words, if you are video chatting with someone, you see the opposite party's image in a correct fashion but your images gets completely distorted. Any skype users face that? any fixes out there?    Furthermore, when I change from tablet mode to laptop mode my mouse pointer (touchpad) setting automatically changes itself to reverse bothering the heck out of me.

Answer:Think Pad Twist Screen Rotation along with cam rotation while using skype

I'm sorry to hear that you have this problem. I just also bought  my twist on black friday and I'm having issues with the automatic screen rotation. Fortunately, it seems that Lenovo is working on a new updated driver to fix this. By any chance are you also having this issue? Mouse moves in tablet modeWhen I switch from laptop mode to tablet mode, the mouse pointer doesn?t disappear and starts moving around. I obviously just want to be navigating with my fingers and it gets really annoying as it will also click on random tiles or whatever the pointer travels to and clicks.   It's really annoying. I like this computer and I can just imagine how much more in love I will be if this issues are fixed. It seems that the short battery life is also a problem that Lenovo is working on fixing. Nobody is seeeing the advertised 7 hour life!

We do not support this operation system !!" I am running Windows 7 64bit which is the driver that is suppored per the lenovo driver site. Thanks for your help

Answer:ThinkPad W540 - Win7 - Bluetooth device not recognized by Windows 7 - REALTEK not supported OS !!

My guess is that you are trying to install the driver for a newer machine (different Bluetooth device). I believe you need this one:http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles/7zwb06ww.exe

Answer:ThinkPad X200 - Blue screen of death on sleep mode

. Is it XP or VISTA? (I guess VISTA... ) If it is VISTA, some drivers are not design for new sleep mode in VISTA and make the computer wake up after a few minutes, try to update all your drivers if you have installed any new hardware (on the blue screen, look if you see something like DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE)If no update is available. try to uninstall the driver and see if the problem is solved. . do you use ZoneAlarm?(or another security suite...)If yes, try disabling it, it's known to create issues with VISTA during sleep...Update to the latest version. . any entry in the application/system log files that would match the time of the crash? ... good luckMessage Edited by Ballallaz on 10-02-2008 10:41 AM

hello all, i would like to set the three Tablet Buttons (the ones on the 'display' half of the notebook) to Shift, Ctrl and Alt, so i can use photoshop  also in 'tablet' mode of the notebook. the ctrl and alt keys were OK to set up, but it doesn't recognize the Shift key in the setup dialog. is there any known workaround?thanks for any reply.

Answer:x200 tablet & setting Shift to one of the Tablet Buttons

Try checking if the SHIFT key is actually one of the items on the drop down menu in the tablet pc button settings.

so i just replaced my stock hdd with a 7200rpm and installed windows 7 professional. I have installed most of the drivers and have just about everything working except for my screen rotation button. i installed the screen rotation utility, but the rotation button does not work at all (neither does the accelerometer aided rotation). I also attempted to change my tablet pc settings, but that made no difference either. any suggestions would be more than welcome!

5855 tablet lost auto rotation after (I think) recent Windows 10 update.
It used to work a couple of days ago.

Any ideas how to restore the auto rotation?

Answer:5855 tablet lost auto rotation

Greetings,Kindly try the following steps :To turn on, or turn off screen rotation, swipe in from the right, select PC Settings and look for the Screen icon. Tap the Screen icon and you will see a vertical slide control for brightness. At the top of the brightness control you will see a rectangle, representing a screen, with a curved arrow at the lower right corner. Tap the rectangle once to lock the screen rotation in the current position, portrait or landscape. The curved arrow will change to a lock. To unlock screen rotation, follow the same procedure, tap the rectangle with the lock and it will change back to the curved arrow. Please update drivers and check if issue persists. If the button has disappeared and issue is not resolved after updating driver, reset the operating system after backing up data. Confirm if this helps.

I have just completed a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate and all went well except for the screen brightness issue. Anyone have any ideas where I can simply increase this as I have searched everywhere for screen brightness, even BIOS for any setting for display. I have latest update to display driver. I have two other laptops and each shows much brighter than this one and I am surely disappointed in this display. Not sure if it is because this screen is touch enabled and also works off keyboard that could be the issue and a separate setting could be involved on the touch side of the display as it does work with a stylus pen or touch also. thanks and   I hope I can get this brightness to increase somewhat as it is too hazy for me.

I bought my tablet one months ago. Today, I pick up my tablet with my finger and the front glass cracked on the left side. but I also can draw and use it. Just the front glass was broken. I want to know what to do? Call for lennovo? Cause I am a student, I need my tablet to do some work, I want to know how long and how much to repair it. thanks.

Answer:Thinkpad Tablet X220 the upper glass of screen cracked a little

Hi sweetaaronm and welcome to the community,

You're probably going to have to call service to find out how much and how long it will take?  I'd do that anyway, just so you know.  It is going to be expensive.
Is there any computer repair shops locally that you trust?  I'd sit down with the phone book and make some calls.  You're going to have to know which screen you have so you can have them get the right one.

If Lenovo service has the screen in stock, the turnaround for the repair should be pretty fast.

Dave
