X220 Pen touch on screen: How to disable the circles that show when the pen has touched the screen

Question: X220 Pen touch on screen: How to disable the circles that show when the pen has touched the screen

I have a client that says the little circles that come up every time he touches the screen is giving him a headache. Does anyone know how to shutoff the response of the pen each time it touches the screen, but still have the pen work? Thanks.

Preferred Solution: X220 Pen touch on screen: How to disable the circles that show when the pen has touched the screen

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: X220 Pen touch on screen: How to disable the circles that show when the pen has touched the screen

You need to disable the cricles that appaers after touching the screen, there is no such option, I would suggest you to please perform the workarounds.

1.To remove fingerprints, etc., from the touch panel display, use a dry, soft, lint-free cloth or a piece of absorbent cotton. Do not apply solvents to the cloth.2. Gently wipe foreign particles and dust from the touch panel with one side of the cloth.3. Wipe smudges or fingerprints with the other side of the cloth, or with a clean cloth.4. After using the cloth, wash it with a neutral detergent.

After this, please check if the issue resolved.

Sameer

I have Win 32 bit app written in Delphi XE. Windows 10 is set to tablet mode. When I touch edit boxes or memo boxes on my app, keyboard does not appear. It only appears if I touch a password field e.g. edit control with password char set to *. When I run notepad.exe and touch it - keyboard appears. But not for any editable controls on my app ... except for password fields... What is the trick here?

Answer:What is the criteria for Windows 10 on-screen keyboard to show up when control is touched?

I encountered the same issue after upgrading my Acer tablet from 8.1 to 10 too. There's an option to show the keyboard when you touch an input field in the Settings app under Devices.

After I had my laptop for 2 weeks (outside of Best Buy's return policy), the screen started flickering with circles. I contacted tech support. They said it was a virus so I got it scan for virus and nothing.  It continued to happen. I did an online search and it was suggested I turn off my touchscreen. I did that and I had no issues for about 1 month. Then my computer freezes after about 10 minutes of use.  I brought this laptop to also be used as a tablet and I am unable to do that. Any suggestions on how to fix this issue.

I have a hp pavilion touchsmart 15-n029so. Unfortunately my touch screen is defect, so 5-6 points on the screen is constant active. Until recently I managed to disable the driver for only the touch driver (not the screen) through device manager, but then a lately update for windows 10 activated the driver again. So now the 5-6 points is constant active, and I cannot login because the screen will not focus on the login field.  This means I cannot login to windows 10. I have also tried to start safe mode (turning off computer repeatly, so it starts up in safe mode), but here the touch screen driver is also active.  How can I disable the touch screen driver without login into windows 10?

My Lenovo U410 Touch recently got damaged - the hinge broke causing the touch screen to **bleep**.I was told that a repair was not feasible as none of the repair shops near me were able to source the parts needed.I therefore bought a new laptop. However, there is a lot of data on the old laptop that I want to access, including sorting out the licensing of MS Office (by uninstalling from the old one).I cannot do anything about it as the old machine is completely unusable as due to the touch screen being cracked, it seems to think it is constantly being touched in multiple places on the screen. This means that I cannot access the laptop to copy the data or uninstall Office. Anyone know any way around this that doesn't involve taking it to a repair shop to "recover" my data. Cheers

Hello,
I would imagine you would need to find a touch-enabled screen that has device drivers for Microsoft Windows XP available for it.

Good day. I purchased a manufacturer refurbished ThinkPad X220t  with warranty for one year. The laptop came with a factory seal. When I turn on a notebook,  the operating system(win 7 Prof 64bit) automatically install. At the end of installation in device manager  all devices have been identified and worked fine.  But in computer details in the "system" was written ?No Pen or Touch Input is available for this display?. Then I installed all the drivers on a laptop from Lenovo website again and again. That did not help. Then I reinstalled windows (win 7 Prof 32bit). That did not help. Previously, I had two X200t and when I installed windows 7, the digitizer immediately was detected, for the good work of  the touchscreen it was necessary to install drivers. But the situation with the X220 for me incomprehensible. Explain what I did wrong. The type of ThinkPad printed on the back label is 4294-CTR(in BIOS the type is 4294-CTO).

I bought x220 tablet 4 days ago with multitouch (lenovo model number: 4296-2BG). Straight out of the box the touchscreen is not working in approximately 20-25% of the screen surface. The affected area is in one piece on the right-hand side (if looking in regular notebook configuration), however the most of the edges of the screen work. The touch works correctly at other parts of the screen, but on this part there are spots where I never managed to make the touch and there are spots where only sporadically and randomly I can make the touch work. The problem can be repeated no matter if the computer works on battery or on AC, no matters if it is in tablet or in notebook configuration, and no matter what the program you use. It is most clearly seen in Paint - drawing by finger goes well until you get to the part of the screen when abruptly stops and only continues when you get to the healthy part of the screen.  I spent 2 days of trying to get it wok by- calibrating touch screen- turning on and off the touch ability- trying to tweak the touch through built-in properties- installing the newest drivers from lenovo- installing the newest drivers from wacom- cleaning the screen surface with the little cleaning tissue that comes along- turning on and off wifi, bluetooth, camera, and virtually everything I could turn on/off By the way, the system is in the vanilla state - I did not install anything on it (except new drivers for touch). Just made the 'recovery disk'... Read more

Hey to everyone. I have a question since lenovo seems to lack on a informations when it comes to this. I bought a used X220 and cant identify if it should be multitouch or pen input only model. Screen part number is (according to lenovo page):04W3462Model Number is 42962WUTouchscreen with finger doesnt work ( if it has any).I dont have a pen (stylus) currently since it was not provided with laptop BUT:Windows in properties says : No pen or touch input is available for this display .Reinstalled windows freshly twice along with drivers (once manually downloaded , second time used Lenovo System update)Still says the same, and there is no tablet or pen and touch settings in control panel. In some other topics , someone suggested to similar problem as a solution installing wacom pen drivers, lenovo digitizer drivers etc.Tried provided drivers , and with every driver throws the same error : a supported tablet was not found on the systemMaybe it has to detect pen near the laptop and it should be fine?Did I just got ripped off? Thanks a bunch!

Hi everyone, I have a Lenovo X220 Tablet that has touch screen and pen. They suddenly stopped working today. The LCD screen still works pefectly fine, however. The touch screen is enabled on the touch settings. When I try to calibrate, it does not detect my finger or the pen. I also noticed that when I tried to reinstall the driver and it said "a supported tablet was not found on this system". I have the most recent bios. I am running Windows 7 that came with the laptop. All windows updates completed. Is it possible for the digitizer to be defective, but the LCD screen to work perfectly fine?Could it be just a ribbon failure?Which part would need to be replaced, if this is the case? Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

Answer:X220 tablet touch screen suddenly stopped working

Even though it looks like a single device, it is really 3 separate ones.  There is a basic panel.  There is a static discharge digitizer in the front to sense finger touches.  There is a second Wacom digitizer behind the panel to detect the pen.  Any of them can fail.  The wires in the cable can also crack.  Since both digitizers failed, I would first look in device manager to see if there could be a problem with a USB hub.  (digitizers both connect as USB devices.)  My next guess would be the cable.  Sorry I cannot be more definite.

I was previously running Windows 8 Preview and did not have any problems with the touch screen.  I have tried two separate clean installs of Windows 8 Pro, and the only thing that will not work is the touch screen with my finger.  The pen still works, but not the finger touch.  The driver installation for both the pen and the multitouch fails with and error saying "A supported tablet was not found on the system." Help Please.

Answer:Disable touch features on X220

Luckily, that's a pretty easy fix. All you have to do is open SimpleTap and double-click "Screen Lock" and the touchscreen will turn off. Just do the same thing to turn it back on.  I always hated it when I was drawing and the side of my hand always caused the cursor to jump around. They should  really fix th is problem  so you don't have to turn it off and on all the time.

Answer:Disable touch screen features?

2 possiblities, i've seen both of these work

first
Go to Control Panel, then Hardware and Sounds.Select Pen and Touch and go to the Touch tab.
At the top is "Use your finger as an input device." Uncheck it.
Click Apply and then OK.

Second,
Press the Windows logo key + X.
Select Device Manager from the list.
Click the little arrow next to Human Interface Devices to expand the list.
Click the touch screen driver (in my case, NextWindow Voltron Touch Screen).
Right-click, and select Disable from the list.
Click Yes on the dialog box that asks if you are sure you want to disable the touch screen driver.
Give them both a try

HiI have an acer aspire v5 431 windows 8 laptop with a touch screen. I just returned from a few days away to find the screen has cracks in it. I can only assume someone got into my home while I was away and for some reason did this.I need to disable the touch screen, as while the screen display is still fine, the cracks in the screen are ghosting constant fast "screen taps" which are making it impossible to use the mouse or keyboard.I have been able to log in with great effort, and then via vnc remote (which was already set up to run as a service thank god) i can left click on most things. Right click is impossible, as the ghosting simply closes right click menus the moment they are displayedHowever i CANNOT do any touch screen actions /gestures, so I cannot swipe, to access any of the restart / shut down options.I CANNOT use the keyboard to search for anything, or use keyboard shortcuts, as the ghosting of a screen tap is so rapid its impossible to get it to react to any key presses.I have tried to boot into safe mode in the hope that the touch screen drivers arent running in safe mode, however I cant figure out how to boot into safe mode givin the above limitations. I have tried restarting (the only way I can restart is to hold down the power button on keyboard, as I cannot swipe to access the on screen power button, and have been unable to tap on it with a mouse. So i tried restarting via hardware button, and hitting shift plus f8 however it just boots into windows 8.I have... Answer:Acer aspire v5 431, need to disable touch screen. ...

Btw the os is windows 8, never got around to updating to 8.1 or whatever the latest version is.Keyboard is completely useless, ie things like control-alt-delete and other short cuts dont work, i guess because the cracks on the screen appear to be generating constant, and rapid 'screen taps' which are so constant and fast that no other input gets through. Cant even move the mouse to other locations on the screen, except via vnc. Cannot type, so cant search for file by any terms like file extension, pname, location etc.Another thing that might help, this is probably a really stupid question, but, there must be a keyboard shortcut that will give me the on screen power button, that is usually acessed by swiping from the right side of the screen, to the left (ie restarting by swiping, then choosing power (i think), restart etc.i have googled and gotten a whole pile of shortcuts, ie windows button plus x to apparently access the windows power tools menu, but either this is not the right shortcut, or the ghosting screen taps the cracked screen is generating are preventing that keypress from being recognised, as nothing happens when i try it via a vnc tool that allows me to access the laptop from my ipad. I cannt get my other laptop to connect to the virtual router wifi network the aspire is running so cannot access it via vnc on another windows pc.However the windows button on the vnc app the ipad uses is recognised and pressing it loads the windows 8 screen containing all the apps ... Why? because my Samsung ATIV Book 9 plus screen has a slight crack, I mean barely noticable, but it totally wrecked the touch screen as in it starts to freak out. little circles come up on it as if it is being touched and so, it seems when I disable the touch screen that does not happen. But when I restart the computer it enables itself. Also sometimes it enables itself in the middle of the computer being on. I have gone to the Human Interface Devices and even clicked on the uninstall of the touch screen, but it installs itself right back in minutes. I can disable it, then if I restart, it is enabled again. And it can mess with things when it is enabled as it starts flipping out.

So, I want to be able to have it permanently disabled somehow. Is that a possibility? and it is incredible if it is not. I do not want to spend for a new laptop screen. The crack is barely visible, actually, but it is there from top to the bottom of the screen but barely visible.

Lara

Answer:I would like to permanently disable my laptop touch screen

Using Autoruns, you have to hunt down all the EXEs, DLLs, etc etc etc that involve the touchscreen operations, and disable said files. I did that for my extra antivirus program [now mummified] -- and it has not come back to life since then.

Since the task switcher and action center can be brought up through buttons on the task bar, is it possible to disable the left and right edge swipe gestures for them? I realize that it may not be a popular opinion, but I came to dislike the edge swipes on Win 8.x because I tend to accidentally trigger them, especially with games that have swipe-like motions. (Fruit Ninja was my first experience with this when the Surface launched. My most recent experience was with Overkill 3 on my DV8P, repeatedly triggering the task switcher while trying to aim with the left onscreen thumb "joystick".)

Okay, so my laptop has a key next to the F12 key that all it does is mute the volume and my F6 and F7 keys have no Function key command. I was wondering if there was some way to map any of these keys so that when I press Fn in conjunction with them it disables/enables my touchscreen (because sometimes the touch screen can be more of a nuisance than a benefit). My laptop is a Dell Inspiron 15R Touch.

If anyone can help me by pointing me to a program that will allow me to remap Fn + (other key) commands that currently have nothing assigned to them that would be a great help (or if someone could tell me how to do it on the command line that would be cool too). Also, is there an easy way to disable the touch screen that can be mapped to the keys or is it too complex for that? Looking around Google some people have more trouble disabling it than others so I was curious if this was even possible to do in a relatively simple fashion.

Here is a picture of a keyboard like mine:

Edit: In addition, if you could help me find a way to map a command to disable/enable the touchpad (my old laptop had a button for this but my current one doesn't) I would greatly appreciate it, because when you're using a mouse sometimes the touchpad can get in the way.

The laptop: HP Envy TouchSmart 15 Notebook PC (15-j173cl)Windows 8.1 Pro The problem: I use an external monitor, so my laptop is usually shut.  Randomly, my touch screen THINKS something is touching it, which disrupts whatever I'm doing.  I would like to disable the touch screen completely, as I do not use it at all. I thought maybe the latch wasn't closing properly, but the screen resolution changes when I shut the laptop, so it KNOWS it's closed and switches to the proper resolution for my external monitor, but it DOES NOT disactivate the touch screen, and some dirt or something is touching it, changing where my mouse is pointed, where I am typing, etc. I have tried cleaning the screen and keyboard with compressed air. The problem happens randomly; sometimes when I CAD for the day, sometimes after hours of working.

Hello.

I have a touch screen device with Windows 8.1.
I tried using the Magnifier, and I noticed that:
1. When I touch the screen the Magnifier shows elements ([+] [-] [X]) on the screen corners.
2. when I use the touch pad/mouse these icons are removed.
These elements hide the start button, and portion of the task-bar, and hide part of the screen.
I wanted to know if there is a way to prevent Magnifier from showing the corner elements when I touch the screen.

Thanks

Answer:Can a touch screen laptop play non-touch screen games...with touch?

I play World of Warcraft which was definitely not designed for touch screen and can interact with the interface just fine on my yoga.

Why would one disable the touch screen on a surface 3. The screen is very thin and easily breaks if you put it into luggage or some
device with weight on it. If you get a crack and don't want a $300 repair, disable the malfunctioning touch screen, use a keyboard and all will work.

Answer:Why disable a cracked surface 3 touch screen-to enable full keyboard functionality and not pay $300

I don't know, some people get it for the touchscreen, because you know, its kinda a tablet. Although its a fne workaround.

Hi there I've just got my first touch screen computer, a Yoga 710 14IKB and have noticed recently that it has started entering sleep mode if I touch the screen.  This doesn't happen always, if I'm using a downloaded app (often those designed for touch screens) it might not happen, but definitely happens whenever I'm using Chrome, most other programmes, and also whenever there are no programmes open. I've tried searching the forums but couldn't find any mention of this, but if its already been answered then please just point me to the appropriate thread. Any help you can give is greatly appreciated.

Answer:Yoga 710 14 screen turns off when touched

Hello AjgoslingThanks for using the Lenovo forums.Try to download the Video and Chipset drivers for the unit from the support page.

Make sure to reboot after an update on the unit.
Also, Try a static discharge for this, it may help to resolve the issue or at least get rid of any built up static on the motherboard.(If the battery is internal, please just skip the remove/replace battery steps.)1. Turn the unit off2. Remove the battery and the Mains adapter3. Press and hold the front power button for 30 seconds4. Replace the battery and the Mains adapter5. Turn the unit on as normal
Hope this helps, let us know how you get on.==================================================================================Did someone help you today? Thank them with a Kudo! If you find a post helpful and it answers your question, please mark it as an "Accepted Solution"!

Question: Circles on Screen

I’ve run into a problem with my Dell All-in-One 5348 running Windows 10.
Today the screen started to display a column of circles – not exactly straight down the middle. They appear shortly after the machine boots on the Windows desktop.
Also, on the 2nd or 3rd circle from the top, a “shadow” mouse arrow appears whenever I use the mouse to point to an area on the screen. This happens on the Windows 10 Desktop and in other applications. I ran Dell diagnostics (no issues found) and rebooted the system 2 or 3 times with no change.
I’ve included a snip of the Windows desktop below. I’d appreciate any suggestion or ideas. Thanks in advance.

I have had my Lenovo Y50-70 for little over a year (so it is out of warranty) and just recently I have been having an issue with my screen turning off if it is adjusted or tapped. It will turn off if the screen is moved or sometimes when I am adjusting the laptop or moving it. The system stays on it and it is just the display that shuts off. If I hibernate the computer and turn it back on without moving the screen, it begins to work again. Oddly enough, this only happens about 60% of the time even if I try to make it happen. This seems to be a hardware issue but I am not too tech savvy so any advice would be very helpful.  Thanks!

Hi,My Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro laptop is out of warranty by now, but I'm trying to get the issue fixed via a claim with my credit card company.  After turning on the laptop, the screen goes black while the backlit keyboard remains.  Touching the screen gives a vibration.  I connected the laptop to an external monitor via the HDMI out and found out the laptop is working so it's the screen having an issue.  I tried searching online and it looks like I'm not the only person having this issue; it's fairly common.Question -- How much would it cost to repair (or replace the screen if it's not repairable)?Thank you.

I have a C560 Ideacentre non-touch screen all-in-one desktop. The screen is busted on it, and I am curious if I can install a touch screen in it instead of the non-touch screen it currently has in it. I know they make the C560's with touch screens also, so I would think it is possible, but I'm not sure. Also, I can't find a part number for the touch screen to order it.Any advice on this would be great. My machine type is listed as 10150

Hi all, First of all, I know there were already 2 topics regarding this issue, but I have to create this topic because those 2 topics were marked 'Solved' and the solution there were not helping in my case at all. Symtoms:- In the beginning, it worked well even after upgraded to Windows 8.1, after some point, touch screen did not work anymore- There was a time that the touch did not work, I had to open the laptop 360 degrees, then put it back to normal so touch can work, but now it didn't fix the situation anymore- In 'Control Panel\System and Security\System', it shows that "No Pen or Touch Input is available for this Display"- In Device Manager, there is only 1 USB Input Device in Human Interface Devices (Hardware ID is USB\VID_2047&PID_0855)- There is no unidentified or conflicted devices What I have tried:- Install all Lenovo's drivers- Install old Intel Graphic driver- Reinstall windows 8.1- Reinstall windows 8- Disabled and enable all HID and USB devices- I lost the backup partition somehow so I cannot use OneKey Recovery Could anybody help me with this? I really appreciate all your help! I believe that there are many people had the same problem like me and have nowhere to turn to. Hope this can help them as well if it is solved!

Answer:Yoga 13 - Windows did not recognize touch screen/No touch screen

I'm having the same issue with my Yoga 13.  It occured after upgrading to Windows 10.  The touchscreen worked fine for a few weeks and then one day I realized that it no longer worked.  I have run through a factory reset back to Windows 8 and then back through all the steps you've listed above and still with no success.  If this was ever solved I would really appreciate any input

Hey guys!

I am using HP 470 G2 laptop with Win 8.1 , which got an annoying habit of turning screen off after some minutes without touching laptop. When you are typing or touching it it is all fine. I have set power options to never turn off screen, changed Console lock display timeout to 90 mins, machine is fully updated, Graphic drivers updated. I have contacted HP support where they suggested just to make a cold boot , did that, took RAM out and in again and their second and last suggest was to send it to service. Before that I ve got an idea to test it with UBUNTU.
Did it with Ubuntu and it does not black the screen when not touching anything, and all is functioning normally. So there must be a problem with Windows, I think, but cant resolve it on my own and I really gave my self a fair effort but it is fruitless so pls if you know better I will appreciate it!!

Thank you

I have just received my brand new B540 Touch screen all in one from John Lewis.co.uk with Windows 8.  Unfortunately the screen is unstable.  There are 15-20 flashing circles on the left hand side which is making icons launch and also the screen is jusmping around. The Touch screen is not working as a result. This is hugely disappointing for my first time purchase of a lenovo product. Do I send it back?

This just started this morning.  I noticed that if I left a browser window open for a while (particularly with a white background with black text), when I minimize the window, I can see a faint image of it left behind that fairly quickly (at least for now) fades away on it's own.

I turned off the machine, unplugged all the batteries and the power.  Checked and cleaned all the connections and vents.  Then powered it back up on just main battery (has nearly a full charge) played with brightness just a bit.  At first it wasn't repeating the problem but quickly it's showing up again and I am extremely concerned.

I am still under warranty.  Please advise.  Thank you in advance - best regards.

Answer:Lenovo X220 Tablet (screen just startedshowing signs of screen memory burn in...)

Updated Info:  Problem only happens on the edges of the screen, a little less than an inch in from any edge, top/bottom/left/right and the problem may appear, but anything in the middle and it seems fine.

Doesn't happen if my background is set to solid black.  It's slightly noticeable with a mid-grey tone and it's worse still with a mid to dark grey tone that is tinted with a purple-ish hue.

Could some other x220 owners set their bg color to a dark grey purple color, and try to see if it's just a limitation.  I'm trying to determine if my hardware is failing, or if I just stumbled upon something that for most cases and purposes isn't going to be much of a bother.

Other than recently calibrating my touch and pen input, I haven't made any changes to the system.  Today I installed a new intel graphics driver update from Win update but it didn't change anything.

Thank you all very much.

I'm no sure if this is the right section to post in, so sorry if it's not. I have a tablet computer, called an x220 tablet. I was browsing the Internet, and left for a minute, and when I came back the screen was black with a flashing white dash in the top left corner. I've turned it off, taken the battery out, and tried restarting it many times. It will go to the openIng "thinkpad" screen, then back to the black screen with flashin underbar. Please help!

Answer:x220 tablet: Not booting, just bios screen, than black screen

The Thinkpad Tablet and the X220t are two different devices. Regarding your problem, I fear that the boot sector is defective. You'll probably have to reinstall Windows.

Nothing appears on the screen when booting the computer from a powered off state. Not even the Thinkpad spash screen appears on the display when I press power. The backlight appears to come on but the display is still mostly black. So the LCD cables are at least partially connected. I doubt it was related since it was a driver, but the last thing I did in Windows was update the Wacom drivers since the pen was not tracking correctly in slate mode. This is what I triedPressed Fn+Home a few times then Fn+End a few times. The backlight increased in brightness but the display was still mostly black. Pull the AC power and the battery. Press the power button a couple times to discharge lingering charges in the capacitors. Installed the AC power only, then pressed power. Still nothing. Powered up the system then pressed the blue ThinkVantage button immediately. A single beep was heard but nothing on screen. Plugged system into a monitor with a VGA (D-Sub) connector and set the monitor to VGA input. Nothing appeared on the screen. Pressed Fn+F7 a couple times on the tablet to see if it was set to a different output for some reason. Repeated with another monitor with displayport. Again nothing on the tablet display. Pulled the RAM, booted with no RAM. No beeps. Reseated RAM and powered up, nothing on screen. I don't have any 1333 MHz DDR3 laying around. I also traded RAM with a known good system in my inventory at work. Is there a key sequence to rese... Read more

Answer:X220 blank screen at boot, not even POST spash screen

You should've gotten beep codes when you booted without ram.  That's not a good sign.,

There isn't any key code that I know of to reset the bios without actually being in the bios.

The old procedure for ThinkPads was to take out everything that is in a slot, hard drive, RAM, wireless card and modem, battery and unplug the ac adapter and hold the power button down for 30 seconds and then put just the ac adapter back in and push the power button and see what happens.  If you get beep codes, put 1 stick of ram in and hit the power button again.  If nothing, take out that ram stick and put another one in and try it again.  Try it in different slots.  See if the bios splash screen comes up.  If it comes up, start putting components back in one at a time and rebooting each time until it doesn't.  Save the hard drive for last.

Are any of your indicators lit and does the fan come on when you hit the power button?

It sounds like you already tried most of that, but that's the only thing left to try that I can think of.

Sometimes my cursor will lock on one of the orbs/circles. Everything else about the Envy I adore, but these circles are annoying.  :/

Hi Gang -

I was getting ready to use a USB Flash Card Reader on my computer. I don't keep the reader plugged in. I booted my computer and waited for it to finish. Then I went to plug in the Flash Card Reader....I only got as far as touching the plug to the socket and then the display went black. Tried a few keyboard strokes and moving the mouse, didn't bring up display, so held the power button down to turned the computer computer off. Waited for several minutes and then turned the computer back on. Display stays black and it appears that the computer is no longer going through its boot sequence...when I turn it on, 1 green light comes one in the bank of lights that flash when it is booting and stays on. Next a green light on my DVD drive temporarily turns on, but then turns off. After this, no more activity. I did not see/feel any static shock when I touched the USB plug to the USB port, but I suppose a transfer could have happend. My computer was built by my brother, but unfortunatley he is not available for help.

Thanks so much for your help! I have listed some details about the computer below, please let me know if you need to know anything else.

Thanks again!

Answer:Touched USB device plug to USB port - screen went black, now computer won't boot

I highly doubt that the USB connection would have done this, so here is my troubleshooting advise:
1. You may have bumped into the VGA connector which connects your monitor to your computer, and it could have come loose, making your screen go blank.
2. If the USB ports that you were plugging the drive into were not onboard(on the back of the computer connected to the motherboard), the connection from your motherboard to the cables which may connect to the USB remote location could have come loose if they were not connected properly.
3. Have you used this same Port before if it isn't on board? If not, it is possible that the USB connector to the motherboard may be connected wrong, and when you complete the circuit with your drive you POSSIBLY shorted out the motherboar (also not too likely).

If none of these help, you can also call Abit's help line because it is more than likely a motherboard problem @: 1- 510 492-0968.

Best of Luck

After completing some research, it appears a lot of touchscreen users temporarily disable their touchscreen while using their stylus to eliminate stray marks from their hands. They do this by disabling "HID-compliant touch screen" driver in device manager but the TabPro S doesn't have that driver. Any idea what the correlate TabPro S driver is or how to temporarily disable and then enable its touch screen? Thnx!

First make it sure that the 100 MB system reserved partition is marked as active or not. Follow the method two of the tutorial Partition - Mark as Active to do it. Or as you have access to another computer, download Partition Wizard Bootable CD, burn it in a blank disc, and follow the method three of the tutorial Partition - Mark as Active

When done, follow it:

EDIT:// UPDATE!
I have solved my issue. What I did was as follows:I used CTRL+ALT+DELETE to open task manager.Once task manager was open, I then used the Start a new task function to run "msconfig".In "msconfig" I chose to boot into safe mode with networking, and upon restart everything was back, albeit in safe mode and at awful resolutions. While in safe mode, I ran "msconfig" once more and disabled all NON-windows services, then restarted my PC in normal NON-SAFE mode.Everything was back to normal with no services running. From there, I could open up settings, and then go to the Updates section and revert to an earlier build (the build prior to the Creators Update).
Everything is back to normal now! I hope this helps anyone who ran into the same problem as me.

Basically, I've been running Windows 10 for awhile now. I received the creators update today when I got home from work, and now when I login, I have a blank screen with no taskbar, a blank background, and I can't right click. I can still use my cursor, I get a popup from CAM letting me know my Hue+ has a driver update, and I can use CTRL+ALT+DELETE to open task manager. I have tried running ms-settings to reach the settings menu to no avail. I receive a "The wait operation timed out" error when attempting to do so, so I can't roll back to a previous version.

Answer:Why won't my circles show?

Hi SpyKiller112,

I've tested your coding, your circles are showing.

Unfortunately, you have to apply the Pythagoras' theorem to find the coordinates of the circle center.
In your example, the coordinate of the first circle center (a, b) are :
a = 5 + sqrt((50*50)/2)
b = 10 + sqrt((50*50)/2)

Also, if D is the distance between 2 points (x1,y1) and (x2,y2), then :
(x1-x2)**2 + (y1-y2)**2 = D**2

I have a Yoga 13, I bought it when it first came out, thought it was a great idea but not so anymore. Started expereiencing issues with the machine. It would constantly freeze up and run very slow. Then I started seeing these 2 flashing circles on the left side of the screen and it would stop until I lock the machine and unlock it. The cursor would lock in a square box on the right side of the screen and no matter what the cursor would go right back to the square box on the screen. The touch screen does not work and if if I forget and touch the screen then the screen maximizes and start to flash the only thing to do is power off the machine. I get no help from Lenovo, they are a joke, they want me to send the machine to them and pay for repair to the sensor in the screen, something like that. I would never purchase anything from Lenovo again. What a crappy piece of machine this turned out to be.

Answer:Lenovo Ideapad Yoga 13, flashing circles, cursor stuck in square box on screen.

I have same cursor issue. I first found it when I had the yoga 2 for 3 months. Their customer service was not helpful at all. The cursor works ok if I connect it to a monitor though--u just can't use it separately as a laptop. The machine is crap. It does not restart properly and very very slow. I never hated a laptop as this one. I'll never waste my money to buy Lenovo product again. I had to bought a MacBook to replace it.

Hi, I bought a newer revision of the Y50 that supposedly had all the errors fixed with it acc to my chats with Customer support (it left the factory at the end of June this year) I saw some flickering lines a couple days ago but it disappeared and assumed it was just something random. Today i opened it and red and black lines randomly flickered horizontally across the screen, and then the whole screen was shaded red. I am trying to figure out what the heck this could be, and as I am now overseas on deployment I am doubly worried the international limited warranty will not cover this and I will have to pay through the nose to fix this. Has anyone ever seen anything like this and knows how i can fix it ? is it a simple case of a connector thats not seated properly? Thanks in advance!

Hi Eclipze926,

Welcome to the Forums

As per the query we understood that you are facing issue with screen flickering in your Lenovo Y50-70 laptop.

As you have mentioned that the display flickers, does this issue persist when only on battery or when plugged in.

Connect an external monitor and check if there are any lines or the display flickering. Also try to reinstall the display driver and check for the issue.

The screen is only cracked in the corner which is why I thought i would still be able to use my phone but the touch screen wont work at all. This has never happened to a touch screen phone I have owned before why has this happened?

Answer:I dropped my phone and the screen cracked however instantly the touch screen stopped working.

You could try rebooting your phone and see if you fixed it, but you may have cracked the digitizer in the exactly wrong spot. It could have been the corner where the wires connect to the digitizer that has broken the circuit. You're likely looking at needing to replace your touchscreen.

Hi all,I have huge problem with my S210 Touch.I cracked the touch screen and I changed it for a new one that I bought on ebay (brand new). The problem is that touch screen works only in windows safe mode and on the refresh screen (when I chose 'refresh computer' on the advanced start options screen and the computer restarts and boots into refreshing mode)! It does not work in windows in normal mode.Touch screen works also on Linux live cd, so this is not a hardware problem. There must be something wrong with drivers but I think I've tried everything, including reinstalling Windows 8.I even had a Lenovo technician remotely control the computer but he also failed to find solution. All devices in devices manager are installed and working. When I uninstall the touchscreen and touch it with a finger it automatically installs again. The only visual difference between cracked and new touchscreen is 'S210' sign in bottom left corner (cracked screen did not have the sign)Please help!

lenovo is running a special - free upgrade to the multitouch screen.  does someone know if the multitouch screen has disadvantages - clarity, glare?i have been looking around for a comparison of both, and have not been able to find such a review.  i am located in nyc and would like to test one out w/ the multitouch screen, but i am not sure who may carry them.please advise.eric

Answer:T410S multi touch screen or non-multitouch screen better - appreciable differences between them?

Go for the non-touch. All it adds is grain and reduces contrast. It also increased glare in the X200/201 tablets, not sure if that happens in the T410s.

Hi guys! On my new TPY the touch screen on the left hand side (the side where the charger is connected) is unresponsive. The pen however works perfectly fine. I have already run the lenovo software update tool and updated/installed all the drivers so I wonder what might be the culprit here...? Best,Chris

Answer:Thinkpad Yoga - touch screen on left half of the screen unresponsive

if the left hand screen touch is unresponsive, then it is a hardware problem. You would need to send in for service.

I have an Acer C720P touch screen chrome book that I purchased in 2015. The problem started 1 month after warranty ended (imagine that). The screen would have blue lines across it if opened all the way but I was still able to use it when it was opened half way! Eventually after using it with the chrome book screen half lifted, it went out & now has only a blank screen. The power light still comes on if I push power, but the screen does nothing. I have a strong feeling it has to have a loose connection to the screen. Can anyone help with this?!?

Windows 10. I replaced the LCD screen/bezel assembly and the touch screen functionality isn't working. The screen works fine otherwise. I checked all of the cable connections and made sure they are seated firm and secure. I confirmed that the driver for the touch screen sensor is the most current one. I tried it with tablet mode enabled and disabled. Any help is greatly appreciated! THANKS!

Hey
I bought a Lumia 1520, and I have so far been very happy with it.
I recently dropped it and broke the screen. Everything worked perfectly, but it was hard to read anything on it.
My brother replaced the touch screen (which was hell because of all the glue), and it worked for a while.
The thing now is:
I turn it on and the screen works perfectly for about 2 mins, then it completely stops working.
After I soft reset it, it works for another 2 mins.
I have also tried to hard reset it.
Does anyone here have a clue what is happening, and if it is possible to fix it without ordering a completely new front side?
Thanks!

Answer:Why has my touch screen been acting strange since replacing the screen (Lumia 1520)?

Sorry but what happens is clear. The repair failed.
Did you get an original OEM part for the replacement?
If not than that may be the reason if yes then you damaged something during the repair.
So if you did not use an original OEM part try it again with a original part.

I received my Lenovo Yoga 3 14 yesterday.  Everything seems to be working great with the exception of the touch screen.  The far left side works well (about two inches worth) then a large dead spot from top to bottom to the far right.  The right one inch works as well.  What could be causing this and is there anything I can do to fix it?  Firmware or is it just the screen itself? Any tips or ideas would be greatly apprecaited.  I am very disappointed.

Answer:Lenovo Yoga 3 14 80JH-00LNUS Touch Screen Dead Spot (Half Screen)

Yes, same problem here. It gets worse: random ghost touches (hands nowhere near the screen) and dead spots in random places. 2 long phone calls to UK help centre - they seem to be unaware of these issues. Re-installed several drivers but hard to see any improvement as these glitches appear randomly. Not sure if anyone who has any power actually looks at these threads.

My laptop recenctly started flashing (lines of colour being displayed rather then the picture) and then the colour fades out completely to a white screen. Initially this seemed to be impacted by me adjusting the screens position back and forward, however this went from happening intermittantly and returning to a normal screen after I would force restart the computer to being completely unusable. Any ideas on what the issue could be/ has someone expericenced a similar problem? ThanksSteph

Answer:X1 Carbon Thinkpad Touch Screen: Screen display flashing and turning blank / unable to use.

Yes,  I have similar issue. My screen becomes whiteish and i can barely see wht was on the screen. It seems like video card issue i remember a Dell laptop i had previously owned had similar issues which was hardware (vdeo card being replaced). Im not sure as of yet, if this is a Video card issue. I'm testing Windows 10 with the latest drivers from lenovo 7/15.

I am thinking the computer is slow because the driver or video card or something is not working right.  My problem is.  I had this Lenovo computer for a couple of years now.  I just bought a 23" HP S2331a  flat screen monitor.  What do you need to know for me to be able to fix the problem I am having?  The information on the side of the tower is 3000 H210 57091130, Intel GMA3100 graphics.  I am not sure why the computer is doing what is it doing, but I hope you can help me more than HP. The black screen issue happens on startup.  I can see things on the screen up until the login screen attempts to come up and then the screen does not recognize a signal.  I bypass this currently by connecting the old crt screen on until I log in.  Then reconnect the HP screen and wahlah it works.  I can't change the resolution or anyhting like that...... Any thoughts on corredting this so I cna have a working monitor and not have to keep the old crt unit around on startup?Mark

Windows 10 v1607 displays the lock screen image on the sign-in screen too, which is pretty cool in my opinion.
But if you wish to display a plain login screen, Open Start Menu, click on Settings.
Open Personalization settings and select Lock screen from the left panel.
Here you will see Show lock screen background picture on the sign-in screen.
Toggle the button to the Off position.

when i start my computer it doesnt show anything at all and then about 20 seconds later the login screen will pop up and everything works after that. it all started when i got my new graphics card and now i gotta plug my moniter into the card. and while its booting i can switch the moniter to the normal built in moniter plug thing. i think its vga ( its the blue one without the fancy pins) the graphics card is a visiontek radeon x1300 256mb pci. and im using windows xp professional. thanks

Answer:Solved: Boot Screen wont show goes straight to login screen.

You need to change the primary video card in the BIOS setup of the computer from the onboard video to PCI-Express/PEG and then you need to disable the integrated video. Your computer is still set to use the integrated video card as the primary card. Once you have it set correctly to the PCI-Express card then you shoudl always have the monitor connected to the new card and it shoudl display everything correctly.

Well, it was bound to happen. After 20 plus years in corporate tech support, unpacking, configuring, and shipping laptops all over the world for the first time I cracked a laptop screen. Unfortunately, this laptop screen was attached to my personal HP Envy Touch Smart 15 Notebook PC.

I have always believed that ?stuff happens?. We live by the luck of the draw. When it?s time it is time. You never know. When I picked up my laptop one morning last week on the way to an offsite there was no mistaking that muffled pop of a cracked screen. Stuff happens.

My screen still worked but no longer with touch screen functionality and I immediately jump on the web to determine the cost of and the degree of difficulty to replace the broken screen. In this site and others, I was surprised by the number of Envy owners who?s broken screen story mirrored my own and whose uploaded photos look uncomfortably familiar.

In almost every uploaded image the impact area was nearly identical, roughly 1.5 cm from the top bevel and nearly perfectly in line with the center of the touchpad.

Many generations of the Envy are designed with a Touchpad that sits in a shallow trough. That trough, the width of the Touchpad, extends out and forms a depression along the outer edge of the laptop.  When closed, the top or lid, with the fragile display, is supported by the stiffer bottom ?half? of the laptop. But a depression on the edge of the keyboard half of the la... Read more

Please advise, have any of you out there installed the touch screen for the s10e.I have seen some advertised online and wanted to know if they are worth investing in. Also anyone have any ideas or solutions to increase the screen resolution from 1024/576? Please post your replies and thoughts, Thank you.

Answer:Touch Screen for s10e and Increase Screen Resolution from 1024x576

ive only seen touch screen kits for S10 not S10e.. make sure the kit supports 10.1" not 10.2".. and as for the resolution, you can increase it by unchecking "hide modes that monitor cannot display" in the "monitor" tab in advanced gfx options but it will increase virtually, ie the screen will display 1024x576 and you will scroll across the screen..

Hey all, I woke up this morning and started using my computer to find that there were white spots on my computer screen that I had not previously noticed. I have had the computer for two years and haven't had any similar issues. There does not appear to be anything wrong with the pixels, as the color changes appropriately - it's just brighter. Furthermore, the bright spots on the screen heat up much more than the rest of the screen, which remains cool. I also noticed that, though this may be a separate issue, the touch screen isn't responding. Here is an image (it's much more noticeable on a white background): http://imgur.com/09sYisg   Any help is much appreciated!
