I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I don't know the X200, but you can try the multitouch driver: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/detail.page?LegacyDocID=MIGR-67220

Dear Lenovo,I have started a different thread to bring to focus a self (Lenovo) created satisfaction issue that is affecting more and more customers it seems.  Those Lenovo customers who are waiting for an X200 Tablet with a Multi Touch Display are simply looking for some customer communication with respect to our orders. This is your (Lenovo's opportunity to respond to this post with an approved public statement with respect to ; 1) What is the current problem with this laptop (or configuration)  ?2) Could customers help out by changing their order to a different screen type?3) What should customer expectations be with respect to the delay (realistic impact on delivery schedule)?4) For those that ordered accessories seperately what does Lenovo recommend they do with these ? This is an opportunity for you to address this current production challenge in a way that is respectful to your loyal customers. Please take me up on this offer and post a reply for all to view. I am not sure how many customers I am representing with this post but  truly feel that it is not unreasonable to ask for a little clarity and truth with respect to these orders that keep getting pushed back. Answer:X200 Tablet - Communication from Lenovo w customers ( Multi Touch Panel and ongoing shipping delays)

I honestly believe that you're on the right track. If Lenovo would reply to concerns instead of the customers having to deal with uninformed tech support they could calm this issue down a bit here. Give us something to work with as to what's going on.I also would like to know if changing to a different screen type would relieve the pressure Lenovo is having keeping up with the orders.

I just purchased a refurbished x200 Tablet (7450-8HU), and I'm loving it. Upgraded RAM, installed a 120GB SSD, and upgraded it to Windows 8.1 - it's an amazing little machine. Windows 8.1 makes it run like a beast! But, I do have a question. I've been doing much research, and I do realize that my screen is not capable of 2-finger touch. Yet, I keep reading that the x200 Tablet supports Pen & 1-finger touch. But, my x200 Tablet refuses to recognize my finger, even though in PC Info it says it supports "Pen and Single Touch", and it even let's me calibrate "Touch" (but it won't recognize my finger). Were there early models of the x200 Tablet that only support Pen, even though the computer says it supports single Touch also? Or is there something wrong with my machine? I've installed all required drivers, and Device Manager says there is nothing missing. Thanks!

Answer:x200 Tablet - Single Touch? Or No Single Touch?

You can try checking the Lenovo Lookup parts:click me You need to use your machine type 7450-8HU and your serial number (don't post it here). You'll see then a the list of components, you can try checking there if you find a hint about the multitouch. I read in the german wiki that multitouch was offered after September 2009, you will find the production date next to your machine type (in the form of YY/MM). That maybe also a hint if you have ir or not. As last resort you could use a program like HW Info o SIW to read the components of your X200T. My 2 cents...

I am trying to work on OBD2 bluetooth car dongles and, because of traditional Windows difficulties with phantom serial port retention, I needed to find a machine with little in the way of features that could confuse me by having many serial ports already in use. I also wanted to use Windows 10 to look at its enhanced features eg bluetooth in Microsoft Message Analyser. My old X200T looked ideal. It worked perfectly in W7 and provided pen and single touch, thus being ideal for working in the front seat of a vehicle. The update to W10 went well, and the pen works fine, but single touch does nothing. At one stage in thrashing about with drivers, I had it working on the touch calibration on-screen "targets", but it did nothing when I touched the on-screen touch pads. Even that has now stopped working. I think the problem may be related to the fact that Microsoft is telling me that it has Pen and Touch support with 2 Touch points. If I uninstall everything related to Wacom and reboot, Pen disappears, but Touch with 2 touch points always comes back. Has anyone else seen this and found a workaround?

ello,I bought the latest and greatest X200 tablet, with a Multi Touch screen and all the trimmings, I was excited to change from a long family of T thinkpads (owned T20, T30, T40,T42, T61) and change to the long-awaited tablet. I prefer to write in bullets to cut to the chase: -paid for the computer the last days of October2008-computer delivered ONE MONTH LATER November 20th, already devaluated-in May 09, a problem started: every time you turned on the computer, the cursor moved on it's own erratically all over the screen, clicking on everything here and there on its own for a few seconds until Windows would "stop the process"-I had purchased On-Site service, but when I called, Lenovo argued vehemently that I had not purchased it and demanded I send the machine to fix on the box they sent.-They sent the machine back a week later WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. The wire they claim to have changed did not fix it.-I found my original invoice and noticed I HAD purchased On-Site service-I called support; they apologized and said a service person would come "next week"-That week passed and nobody came. I called again, disappointed.-A guy called Jamie xxxxxx promised I would be up and running really soon. He apologized again. This time someone would definitely come ?next week?-Next week someone came, with 3 boxes. He took my computer apart, breaking the hinge in the process, and then noticed none of the 3 boxes had a correct part. Another apology, still have a broken computer.... Read more

Just to cover our bases, have you downloaded and installed the latest drivers for Windows 7? Here's the multitouch drivers:http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-73295 And here's all the others for Windows 7, just in case:http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/product.do?subcategoryind=0&familyind=427841&brandind=10&... Forgive me if you've already done that. Hi,. the particular model of my x200 is 7453-FJ9. I bought it from ebay and the seller claimed is was multi-touch. After checking on the Levono support page where you identify the machine features through the model # above, it does not mention anything about being touch capable let alone multitouch. However, since I installed a new copy of windows 7 pro 64-bit on a new hdd, after installing all of the automated lenovo and windows updates, I checked the system properties and it states 'Pen and Single Touch Input Available' as shown in my system properties screen below.

Link to picture

I have tried to use the single touch input but it does not seem to be working. I have tried calibrating touch input though the screen calibration and it has not worked. I have looked at the HCI devices in the device manager and it shows 'Wacom Penabled MiniDriver','Bluetooth Remote Control', 'HID Compliant Consumer Control Device' and several repeated entries of 'HID-compliant device' but nothing about touch input !

I don't understand what is going on, do you think this tablet has touch input available ? Should I try install the touch driver on the lenovo website ? the wacom website ? or am i just wasting my time thinking it has touch input since it is not mentioned on the 7453-FJ9 lenovo support page (that I can see). Any advice on this would be kindly appreciated..

I think Apple is gonna run with this once again and Microsoft will be late to the party. Right smack in the middle of Windows 7 release.
What do you think? For years Microsoft and Bill Gates have been pushing tablet pcs and they never cought on. Apple is rummored to release one and I bet will be the hottest thing in town.

This refers to X200 Multi-touch Tablet (7448CTO), not the latest enhanced Multi-touch version. I have asked a few times and gets no response.  When in slate mode with notebook sitting flat on the table trying to write with the digitizer pen, we would position the notebook to the right side relatively to the eyes.  This means a slanted viewing angle to the LCD screen.  I am seeing an overall dimmed screen (even with screen brightness set to maximum) with the rightmost edge further from the eyes being the darkest.  It is really bad on the eyes trying to write on a "dark" surface. I don't think there is anything wrong with the LED backlight as the screen appears really bright and normal when view directly to the eyes (like non-tablet notebooks).  Someone says it is the multi touch layer that Lenovo added on top of teh LCD that made it worse.  Yes, any $500 laptop I compared with has much better brightness when viewed at an angle.  As Lenovo do not have a show room at all in my area I have no way to tell if mine is bad.  Can someone kindly say a word on their X200 writing in slate and how is the screen brightness being affected or no effect at all (that would be a good news, I would fix mine seemingly-good screen). Thank you in advance.

Hi everyone, Just picked up a X61 Tablet. I actually have 3, got them all on Ebay for $25.00. I have rebuilt 2 of them with the 3rd unit acting as a donor unit for parts. One unit has the sxga 1400 x 1050 screen, (very nice screen!). I have been reading how the digitizer just peels off of the back of the screen and can be placed on to a new screen. i currently have 3 digitizer backings with the following numbers: su5e-12s05as-01xsu5e-12s05as-02xsu5e-12s05as-04x I have been searching to find out if any of these are the multitouch digitizers, but haven't found any information. Does anyone know if it is possible to switch any of these backings to get multi touch on the sxga? Thanks zog

Does any one has any idea? My tablet just upgrade to 4G memory, ssd and win7 64bit.  But I cannot find the pen drivers. Well I would say that the most empiric way to do it is just try to touch your screen on some dialog boxes or pictures where gestures would trigger a reaction from the computer..... Indeed it's not very easy to figure it out from Lenovo support website ... Just received 2 x200 tablets on Friday and have been working with one of them to make sure everything works smooth on it. My concerns are as follow:1. No touch input during a screen saver.2. No pen precision on Adobe Photoshop CS43. Trouble with Wacom Tablet drivers, do not accept touch (only pen works). Is there anything we can do to resolve the issues above? Model: 7449-49U

Answer:Lenovo X200 Tablet - Touch/Pen Input Realiability Issues

For the above issues, I am seriously considering returning this unit and purchasing another brand. There's no fix published in any of the sites that should have them, Lenovo or Wacom or Adobe. None of them will take responsibility for this. My main frustration is with Adobe, because they refuse to support the Windows Ink standard, forcing us to find workarounds or old drivers so that we can do the work we need to do. They're taking advantage of their near-monopoly to force users to comply with their demands. I suspect they're receiving a substantial kickback from Wacom for this. Which is why I chose a Wacom Penabled tablet in the first place. If this is not working, then I just don't know what to do. Seriously, someone needs to fix this right now!

Hello all, I just purchased a Lenovo X200 Tablet with enhanced multitouch on the 13th of November when they were having the nice employee sale. I customized the X200 enhanced multitouch package and added a whole bunch of features. I got the camera, turbo memory, 4 gigs of ram, fingerprint reader and the works. The only problem is I don't have any touch features (with my hand) at all. It only detects the digitizer pen. I thought maybe they forgot to install the drivers or something so I tried installing the touch drivers from the Lenovo website (my product number is apparently 7448CTO which is not freaking multitouch from reading on the forums). When I try to enable the Touch features it tells me that it did not detect any touchscreen moreover the tablet did not even come with the simpleTap software which had me really puzzled. Why did Lenovo do this to me?? I need it for university and it took really long to come. I really need those touch features not just the pen. Thanks Cal

Answer:TouchPanel Problem, X200 Tablet with enchanced multitouch - NO TOUCH FEATURES AT ALL

Colferns,I've had a x200 tablet multi-touch for a few months.  Just upgraded to win 7 and having problems getting the multitouch to work.  I wonder if the drivers are not working.  BTW, 7448cto refers to the 7448 model, "Configured To Order" - I know, not very helpful. It is strange, since in XP it worked okay (but not great).  I now look at my Control Panel | System and Security | System Setting and I see half way down the window a category called "Pen and  Touch:". I am dismayed to see "Pen and Single Touch Input Available". I hope some one replies soon with the right drivers.

Dear Lenovo support staff  / community, I just purchased a brand-new X200 and the pen / touch / tablet feature works out-of-the-box with its pre-installed Windows Vista 64-bit OS.  Because the applications I intend to use the Tablet with do not support Vista 64-bit (namely, Dragon Systems), I used the Windows XP Tablet Edition SP-2 Product Recovery Disc kit that came with the Lenovo tablet, and followed the conversion instructions included in the booklet down to the letter. However, when it converted the OS to Windows XP, the pen / touch functionality is completely gone, and I am unable to find any help online, or in Lenovo product support when called in. Installing the Multitouch drivers on the Lenovo support site for X200 drivers does not work, and installing the WACOM drivers does nothing either. I can confirm this is most likely a 100% repro case, as I have two brand new X200 Tablets and the same behavior is exhibited on both. Please advise.

I know it´s quite abstract to ask this... but if anyone has this info, write in percentage. Gorilla Glass - 100% of resistanceInfinity Glass -  ???% of resistance The "why" for this dilemma: Gorilla Glass version:- sunny places like Brazil (and eventually, parks, huge lines, work events) will fit well to the outdoor view feature (I work with architectural projects and sometimes I must be at the building site to give some advices... often I had to instruct without the roof ready)- resistance enough against mild levels of clumsiness (drop to the ground, accidental beatups at slim backpacks, etc)- no fingerprints (I´m a little neurotic with those things) Infinity Glass version:- I loved the multi-gesture (tested on Ipad)- excellent to browse webpages, comics, general images, etc very accessible and quick instead picking the pen every time (this case would be more for pleasure rather for work)- the real changes of the outdoor screen with this isn´t much far... still possible to look on it at the shade (like on a bus with big windows or just something with enough roof to cover the sun spot)  The big answer will come depending on how fragile it is... I remember to read some people at forums complaining about how fragile it was and how easily broke with a simple fall.   Thanks for reading. ps: if any of you guys have an idea of what suits better me, feel free to write.

Answer:lenovo x201 tablet 3113-94U support multi touch??(pen & finger)

Hi, btoymus23

I did some research on your machine and found its entry in the Personal Systems Reference. Machine type 3113-94U does not support MultiTouch, unfortunately. This information can be found in the link on page CML3-4 (use Ctrl+F to find it faster.)

MultiTouch, however, means to be able to use three distinct points on a touchscreen at once, not being able to use different touch inputs. I think you should be able to use your fingers to touch objects on the screen, though the pen might be easier.

Hope it helps,
Adam

I am an older person who uses my ThinkPad X120e away from the office quite a bit.  In the last few years my hands have become increasingly shaky.  What is happening is that when I move my finger around on the touchpad the cursor will pass over icons and buttons on the screen.  Often my finger gives an inadvertent bounce and whoops I just selected an ad or feature I did not intend to select.  So my question:  Is there a way to disable the select on tap function of the touchpad?  I still want to use it to navigate but prefer to use the keys to do the selecting because of my unsteady hands. Note to Marketing types - There are an increasing number of us old farts who are looking for ways to stay active on line in spite of our impairments. Thanks for any help, hoping this is a simple adjustment I have not found yet.

Haven't updated your laptop's trackpad driver lately? Then you may well want to consider doing so, at least if your laptop is equipped with a Synaptics trackpad. As a user on the Hardware Zone forums discovered, the latest Synaptics driver seems to enable multitouch gestures on older laptops that didn't previously support them, including two-finger scrolling, and three-finger click. What's more, while the drivers themselves come from HP, they should work just fine on other laptops with a Synaptics trackpad. Hit up the link below to try it out for yourself.

Hello everybody! The Thinkpad X1 Yoga (2nd Gen) laptop is offered with 3 types of displays, as described by Lenovo:- 14" WQHD (2560 x 1440) OLED Touch- 14" WQHD (2560 x 1440) IPS 10-point Multi-Touch- 14" FHD (1920 x 1080) IPS 10-point Multi-TouchSince the OLED version is not labelled as "10-point Multi-Touch", does this mean it only support "1-point" touch? (Or any number less than 10).Also, does the OLED display support Stylus pens? Thank you in advance!

Hello All - I just noticed that my multi-touch (not enhanced multi-touch) screen no longer responds to finger touch; just pen. It used to respond to both before i upgraded to Windows 7.I tried the Lenovo diagnostic check for the touch screen, and during the test, it only responded to the pen. What should I do? Is there a certain driver i'm missing or need to uninstall and then re-install?Thanks in advance.

Answer:Post Windows 7 Upgrade - Touch Panel Not Responding to Finger Touch (x200t)

Ok...I think i really screwed something up. As per a Lenovo support tech's advice, i installed the Windows 7 "Enhanced" Multi-touch Driver, even though i do not have the enhanced multi-touch screen, and this is what it says on Lenovo's site about this new driver: "*1: ThinkPad X200 Tablet models with the Multitouch are NOT supported." "*1: ThinkPad X200 Tablet models with the ENHANCED Multitouch ARE supported." So, i go ahead and install it. I notice that finger touch now works, but the pen setting are now all screwed up! The eraser no longer responds when i turn the pen around to erase. It actually INKS with the eraser as well! OneNote no longer automatically starts inking (or erasing) when i bring the pen (or eraser) into range. I have to manually click on the pen icon (or the eraser icon) on the tool bar to use these functionalities! *groan* In the Tablet PC Input Panel: no eraser functionality (it inks instead!!) and even the button on the pen (which previously had the right-click ability) only inks when pressed down! I think i made my situation worse...Please Help! Adam

Hello, I have the TOSHIBA Satellite U400. Everything is going great but I have a few concerns.

1. The Touch Panel (Media Buttons on top of keyboard -mute-media-play/pause-stop-rewind-forward-) turn
the computer ON if touched! How do you stop that from happening? I only need to use the POWER button.
Power button is enough.

2. The MUTE button on the Touch Panel does not actually "mute" or "unmute" sound. Instead, all it does
is turn the White Glow Light for the entire Touch Panel ON and OFF (including the word "SATELLITE").
How do I make it do its proper function?

3. When logging into Windows, I get to choose between Password or FACE RECOGNITION. How do I
set it to FACE RECOGNITION only without having to choose it?

Thank you,

SAL : )

Answer:Satellite U400 - Issues with touch panel, touch and media buttons

It seems like there may be a problem with the buttons, I would send the system to an ASP for repair.

Hi keerati,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

Check the Touch funtionality in OKR environment.
Turn off the computer and Turn it back on and right away start tapping F2.
Select Recovery. Once in the Recovery screen Test the touchscreen by touching any of the option if it will respond.

If the touchscreen works in OKR Environment, I suggest you perform a One key recovery (expect dataloss).

If the touchscreen still did not work in OKR Environment, I suggest you call Lenovo Technical Team for assistance.

My X220 tablet comes with pen and limited touch support with 2 touch points. I have no issues on windows 7 but on windows 8.1 it has changed to be working with only 1 touch point since some time that I don't remember exactly when. So that I can work with one finger only and 2-finger functions such as pinch to zoom are unavailable. My drivers are all uptodate. I think I should completely uninstall the related driver before reinstalling but don't know how to procede and couldn't find the solution. I tried uninstalling all HIDs through Device manager and one-by-one, specifically wacom device. when I uninstall it, I lose touch option completely. but reinstalling through Device Manager sounds like recovering exactly the previous faulty condition. Maybe there is a conflict with windows 8.1 like Microsoft Input Configuration Device which might be unlikely.  So is there any other way to have full wipe and clean reinstall of those touch screen drivers? I appreciate it if you put links to the drivers for me, if they are not available on Lenovo Support. Tell me if you had the same touch issue in Windows 8.1  and how you solved it. Thanks

Lenovo and Devpost just launched the Multi-Touch Multi-Hack, a global online hackathon to build interactive Windows apps for Lenovo?s multi-user, multi-touch Aura interface. There are $25,000 in cash prizes, along with promotional placement for the winning apps across Lenovo's platforms.
Using the Windows 8 and 10 SDKs, developers can build apps for the Aura interface that let people use all 10 fingers at once to interact with a desktop or tablet touchscreen. Multiple people can also interact simultaneously on the same Lenovo device ? opening up the possibilities for collaborative computing using natural hand gestures.
Coders and interaction designers have until June 14 to build an app with 10-finger touch that creates a new educational or entertainment experience on the Lenovo YOGA Home devices. The grand prize winner gets $10,000 and a meeting with Lenovo's business development team, and all winners receive a Lenovo YOGA PC or tablet and promotion for their apps.
The hackathon judges include VC guru Brad Feld and Matt Presley from music creation platform Open Labs. For more details and registration, go to multitouch.devpost.com.

Hi, Does the current x200 tablet multitouch screen have the capability to one day support multiple finger touches at the same time (similar to iphone)? I'm not speaking software-size, i mean strictly hardware-size. Thanks,Chris

Answer:x200 Tablet True Multi-finger hardware capability

As far as I understand: No.Usually the term "Multitouch" means exactly what you are describing. But I think that IBM/Lenovo started using the term BEFORE the iphone-way (and the trackpad-way of MacBooks) became what's now meant by Multitouch. With Lenovo it simply means a screen with both pen and finger-touch capability. The hardware for a "true" multitouch system is based on a capacitative touch-technology, the X200 screen is NOT. Unfortunately...I think that at this moment Dell is the only company producing a "true" multitouch tablet. But Vista supposedly supports it. Martin

I just got an X200 Tablet, replacing an X41 tablet. The little button that appears for bringing up the input panel should only appear when the screen is rotated into tablet mode, but it appears in laptop mode and won't go away. There must be a setting for this, but I can't find it. Does someone know how to set that? Thanks in advance!Mark

Answer:X200 Tablet Input Panel Button won't go away

I think this is normal behaviour for Vista (I assume your X41 had XP).  Mine is always barely visible (about 5 pixels at the left side of the screen). You can move this around (up/down, dock left/right), and it may be possible to make it go disappear (although I don't know how). Some people, myself included use the pen even when the Tablet is in landscape mode.  For this reason, it is nice to have the TIP always visible.  I find it a little annoying when I am watching a movie fullscreen, but the rest of the time I appreciate it. Ideally, it would only appear when it detects the digitizer pen, but I have no idea how to configure this.

Maybe it is just me but when I went back to lenovo today to spec out an X200 tablet I see that the multi-touch is no longer an option?  It was just there last night, did something happen? I guess I could just order from a reseller, but I'm now wondering what the problem is.  Anybody know if its simply an availability issue or is there some kind of trouble with the screen itself?

Question: Multi touch Vs Pen

Hi Guys, Last week I bought a lenovo X201-tablet 0831-CTO model through lenovo website in US website by my friend, I am using this laptop in Singapore. Strange is that, it does not detect finger input, only pen touch is available. Lenovo did not make this point clearly on both of their versions available in the US website. When I check further, I understand it is designed to use pen only...So embarrassed. Is there anyone who share the same story? Now my question is, is anyway that can I change the display panel only to have both finger input and pen input? Thanks guys. byChandra

Answer:Multi touch Vs Pen

You can't, to my knowledge- the hardware isn't capable of it.If it's multitouch, you can use your fingers. If it isn't, you can only use the pen (detailed in this thread: http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/X-Series-Tablet-ThinkPad-Laptops/Lenovo-tablets-multitouch-vs-multitouch...You could try to find a Lenovo touchscreen panel to replace it with, but apart from that there is no way to make it accept your fingers.

Hi, - Is there any place to get more info about the multi touch interface included on the x200 tablet? like:brand? pressure levels? How many x-y points can be handled by the x200 multi touch interface at the same time? or in other words, how many fingers you can use at the same time?  two?  more than two?  - Is there any place to get some SDK to program applications that take advantages of the multi touch interface?   Thanks in advancedGustavo

Answer:Multi Touch Information

gbravetti wrote:How many x-y points can be handled by the x200 multi touch interface at the same time? or in other words, how many fingers you can use at the same time?  two?  more than two? As far as I know, a multi-touch screen is active and passive, which simply means that you can touch the screen with both the pen it came with or your finger/other object. "Multi-touch" does not mean you can press the screen on two or more different spots at once, it just means there are multiple ways to touch the screen to give input (pen it came with, stylus, finger, etc).

Hey everyone, hopefully someone can clear this up for me. I've been talking with a Lenovo rep about the availability of the outdoor displays, and when they are expecting them to become available.  I've asked multiple times, and each time they state that the outdoor screen will be multi-touch capable. As the outdoor display is currently unavailable, is a multi-touch outdoor display on the horizon for release or am I being led around?  I've checked on the forums, the answer is that it's not available. The currently released tech sheets (Page 158) are stating the same thing.  I'm planning on buying this laptop in the next few days, but if an outdoor multi-touch is expected I'll gladly wait the few extra weeks/months for it to become available. Is there any chance that this will become an option from Lenovo? As a workaround, can anyone recommend a good anti-glare film or screen?  I work many days in brightly lit or outside environments, and I won't always be in a position that I can use the full keyboard.  Screen brightness isn't as big of an issue, as long as it can be read outside. Hopefully this will help clear up some of the confusion on this new product, and help those looking for a better anti-glare solution with the multi-touch screen.

Answer:Multi-touch Outdoor on its way?

My understanding is that you can either have mult-touch OR outdoor. You cannot have both. The outdoor display has been expected to become available real soon now for over a month. It was actually available to order briefly at one point. I am not sure if any of them ever shipped, check the shipping thread.

I've been asked to develop an interactive display in my workplace lobby for a variety of users to consult so as to minimize their need to ping our controllers.

We have a dedicated machine running Win7 & multi-touch monitor. My question is what software should I explore to create this program? I'll need to import some data sets (some even requiring certification with external nets) so I'm looking for something full-featured/likely not freeware. That's no biggie.

I would guess that most are CTO (configured-to-order) so you need to look up by serial.  I will say that they are rare.  I'm sure I have handled over a hundred T400s and T410s machines and the total number of touch models I have seen is zero.  You can certainly get what you want, but both models use the 1.8" disks which are hard to find, slow and expensive - not a good combination.

Hey everyone, I just bought an X200T off eBay under the seller IBMFactoryOutlet and it was advertised as it having the MultiTouch Screen.  I emailed the seller asking if it had the capacitive screen like the iPhone has and he assured me it was. However, after researching after I already bought the laptop. I noticed that there might be 2 Multi-Touch screens since release of the X200T and that the old one only recognizes 1finger/pen at a time vs. 2 Fingers for WIndows 7. Was the old multitouch resistive and the new one capacitive? I looked up the serial number and couldnt find the screen description in the table so could anyone give me a FRU number for the new Enhanced Multi-Touch? I also noticed the warranty ends on Aug 30/2010. Was this when the enhanced MT displays were out yet? The warranty is 1 year so putting 1 and 1 together must mean it was bought a year previous. I noticed alot of the reviews for the new MT screen take place in Sept which scares me. Did I just buy an old MultiTouch display?

I have a X200Tablet 7449-G6G.Afrer Win7x64 installation basic pen and touch seemed to work ? no multitouch though. After that i installed wacom's «advanced» driver for digitizer to enable pen sensivity in Corel Painter. Pen is okay, though touch was working no more. As i draw a lot, this one is a necessity for me.Then I installed much anticipated new Lenovo enhanced multitouch driver for win7 (link) that didn't seem to fix the problem. Right now i don't have even control panel items, tabs and links to work with touch and sys properties report only pen capabilities. Though, in device manager both touch screen and wacom enhanced multitouch are both present and report they are working. Any ideas on how to enable both advanced pen and at least basic touch? Pretty please ? it's quite convinient, so if there is a solution, i'd be happy.

This is driving me crazy.... Any one can help? Mine is X200 tablet - 7449-EKU, with so-called multi-touch (pen + single touch). Btw, I bought it because I thought it is "two-finger" touch  I upgrade the operating system to Windows 7 Pro 64x version. At the beginning, everything is fine: pen and single touch both work. But for whatever reason, (maybe sth to do a new driver or a new windows update? I cannot track, because I do it all the times last week), my single touch screen stop working: No matter where I touch the screen, the cursor will go randomly to the corners of the screen. I tried all differerent ways: uninstalled all touch/pen driver/software, reinstall those from Lenovo website and Wacom, none of them works. There are no error sign in my device manager, it correctly recognize my Wacom Dual Penable Touch, and touch panel, etc. The system says I have pen and single touch device. But it just doesn't work. I think it may caused by some driver/software conflict, but I just don't know what it is. Is there any other solution either than redo the whole system? Many many thanks!Alex

Answer:Help: X200 Table Touch screen problem

Hi, It sounds like a problem with a cable that connects 'penable wacom' device to the main board or the screen. I have similar problem. There more people here with the same fault; I advise to browse around for details. Cheers, B.

Multi-touch seems like a nice feature but adds cost and weight.  Will use the laptop for work as well as Photoshop especially when traveling.  I don't see that Photoshop yet knows how to play with this screen. If it could replace a Wacom tablet it would be worth its weight in gold.  I realize few of these things have shipped but interested in any opinions.  Thanks for any comments.Mike

This post could qualify for several different categories so I'll just put it here in General Discussion.

I have downloaded and installed Synaptics Scrybe driver and software and installed it on my Toshiba Satellite A305D-S6848 laptop purchased in July, 2008. It enabled multi-touch and gestures and works rather well with a few minor annoyances.

Among the multi-touch features that now work (in Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit) are:

Two-finger scroll. Similar to MacBook scrolling but not quite as smooth. Works both vertically and horizontally.

Tap zones. Each corner of the touchpad can trigger a specific action. For example, you can set browser forward and back to a corner each, and right-click to another corner. There is a list of actions in the driver setup.

Chiral scrolling. Clockwise circles will scroll down, counter-clockwise scrolls up.

Momentum. A single-finger flick will shoot the cursor across the screen, a less enthusiastic flick will cause the cursor to travel a short distance after removing your finger from the pad.

Those features (and others) are enabled by the driver alone. The Scrybe software adds gestures. A three-finger tap brings up the Scrybe pad, drawing certain figures will perform a pre-determined action. Among those available are:

Draw a G on the pad to open your browser to Google's homepage.

Draw an X to close an application.

Draw an @ symbol to open your email.

And the list goes on.

A two-finger scroll in the browser works ... Read more

Answer:Multi-touch and gestures using Scrybe

I'm wondering about this. I have just installed the gesture's suite and everything is cool except the 3-finger stuff. I'm wondering if my touchpad only supports 2 fingers, but I can't find out how to determine this. It says I have touchpad v7.2. Any ideas on how to determine the number of fingers I can use? Thanks!

I recently bought an x61 tablet and I had asked if it was multi touch and was told yes but I can not get the disply to recognize any other touch except for the pen.  I have the model 7767-A4U.  Assuming that I do not I am wondering if I should bring it back to the reseller ... Is the multitouch that much better?

Answer:How do you know your model has the multi-touch feature

welcome to the forum! the 7767-A4U is a canada-market topseller model with a 12.1" SXGA+ (1400x1050) multiview display.   this display is not multitouch and will not accept input from anything but the pen. personally, i'd rather have high-res over multitouch.   my former X61T had the SXGA+ display and i wouldn't want it any other way.

So, anyone else disturbed by the changed gesture?
The presentation showed that swiping in from the left edge causes Task View to open. You then have to tap the tile of the app that you want to display on the screen.
That's a movement halfway across the screen and the need to tap a specific area. It has none of the advantages that edges gestures are supposed to have.
Imagine having a set of two or three active apps between you occasionally switch. It would be tedious in this system.
Compare that to the Windows 8 version:
- Slide from the left to open last opened app
- Slide from the left after a short delay to re-open the app that you just exchanged with the last opened app
- Slide multiple times in quick order from the left to cycle through all apps
- Slide from the left and back again to open the task view
It also allowed you to just slide an app out of the edge and include it in the snap view.
Why is Microsoft going back to a more cumbersome system? The multitasking gesture of Windows 8 was one of the undeniably awesome features. Even Apple users loved it.
I seriously hope that I just mis-interpreted the gesture in the presentation or something. Otherwise I can just hope that everyone will join me in voting on this change in the Insider app.

Answer:Multi-tasking touch gesture

I agree with the sentiment. I also prefer the multitasking gesture of windows 8 as more natural than the blend of windows 8 left swipe with win+ tab functionality. It literally seems like a compromise of both desktop and tablet gestures. But I don't think the compromise is a good choice in this matter. Honestly they should just make seperate versions for desktop and tablet. The fuss would be over and everybody would be happy.

Hi, i have a little problem with the multitouch gestures for the trackpad on my asus notebook. It seems like the program controlling and operating them doesn't start on default when the computer is turned on anymore. I reboot my computer with msconfig in selective mode with all non-microsoft services OFF, but when i start it in normal mode it still doesn't work until i start a certain program which i cAn't remember, i found that via asus.com. I'd like to know how to make it start by default when starting the comp again and also the name of the multitouch program. (i believe it was something like "smartPad")

can microsoft implement native multi gesture support for touch pad for windows 8, it like a small touch screen isn't it? as of now it works randomly with some application and not other eg zune, windows explorer doesn't work etc. the feature is so useful it's supprising that microsoft still haven't include it in their os.

Answer:touch pad multi gesture support

Ummm...you are a bit behind the times it seems. Windows 7 already has full Multi-touch support. You just need devices that are multi-touch aware/supportive. And applications also need to implement support themselves to get the full benefit.

This is not about a single monitor with multi touch. I mean multiple monitors with touch.
I have three HP Compaq L2105tm monitors that I used with Win7 just fine. All three screens responded to touch independently and while the experience wasn't perfect it suited my needs. I didn't use touch as a major form of input but for the "at a glance" gestures like "Ooh an email" (tap the screen).
Ever since I upgraded to Windows8 (the touch enabled OS) the experienced has suffered badly. Here's why: Touch only works on the center screen (monitor 1)!!! Any touch inputs on screens 2 and 3 register as touch inputs to screen 1. The monitors no longer act independently but instead only affect the primary interface. Holy 1999.... To make matters worse these monitors come highly recommended for use with Windows 8. I bought them specifically knowing someday Windows 8 would be coming and be awesome for touch screens.
I've been waiting patiently for a driver or some other kind of fix but have seen nothing. I also can't find a Google search that doesn't end up with endless articles about single "multiple touch" monitors (where I have multiple multiple touch monitors). Apparently I'm the only person on the planet that actually uses more than one monitor that is touch enabled. So... the questions:
Has anyone else seen this problem? Is anyone else running multiple touch screen monitors? Is there a fix or am I stuck with Windows 8 being WORSE than Windows 7 with regard to touch?
Thanks in advance,

I have a  brand new W510 configured with Windows Ultimate x64.   Within a few hours of running the machine, the touch screen stopped responding.  A reboot fixed that.  This happened several more times, and then rebooting stopped working. Disabling then re-enabling the USB devices was the next step, and that worked for a while (in computer management/device manager/Universal Serial Bus controllers, right-click and select "disable" then right-click and select "enable").  That stopped working last night.  I upped the response to uninstalling ALL of the usb devices under the "Universal Serial Bus controllers", rebooting, and letting Windows 7 x64 re-install them on boot.  Worked a few times, and now that isn't working. I'm starting to think that there is a loose connection internally between the multi-touch device controller for the screen and the USB connector, but all of the other device drivers for the W510/Windows 7 x64 combination seem buggy enough that I can't rule out a really buggy driver. The problem device seems to be listed as an "unknown device" enumerated under the "Universal Serial Bus Controllers" entry in device manager.  Here is a dump of some of the data about that device: {36fc9e60-c465-11cf-8056-444553540000}{36fc9e60-c465-11cf-8056-444553540000}\0009Port_#0008.Hub_#0004\Device\USBPDO-7{9d7debbc-c85d-11d1-9eb4-006008c3a19a} (bus type guid)00000008 - addressPCIROOT(0)#PCI(1D00)#USBROOT(0)#USB(1)#U... Answer:Multi-touch screen not recognized

A (very quick) update:  After I posted, I "removed" the device 3B34 and told Windows to uninstall the device driver (all from within Device Manager).  Upon reboot, the touch screen is working again.  I expect it will again fail after an hour or so.  I'm hoping that the "uninstall and remove drivers for 3B34" trick continues to work, but that really isn't the way a new and very expensive laptop should have to be used.  It feels like either buggy drivers or software that wasn't designed exactly the way the drivers expected.

from specifications, I liked W510 very much and it is crossed  my budget. Also is W510 multi touch? rvjn

Answer:is still W510 coming with multi touch?

Hi rvjn,The multi touch screen option come only with the FHD screen, I think there is a supply issue with the FHD,http://forum.lenovo.com/t5/W-Series-ThinkPad-Laptops/FHD-Option-Removed/td-p/210766/page/2 I ordered the multi touch in January, cancelled and re-order in February and I just got the email that it shipped a couple of days ago.  The best way to find out when the option will get back on the website is to call in or order by phone.  I'm also from Canada. Hope this helps.P.

Hey hello!

Just yesterday I saw Acer Aspire R7, a 10 finger multi-touch tablet/laptop/transformer which was loaded with Windows 8 Single Language.

Problem is: I'd like to use the device to draw, but when I tested it (on store), the multi-touch become counter-productive and it keep registering my palm as "touch" when i try to write on it as if I try to write on a piece of paper.

What I know that in Windows 7, the Pen and Touch Control Panel have the option to disable multi-touch, while on this Windows 8, the Pen and Touch Control Panel only have 1 tab and does not include such option.

So the question: Is there any way to disable the multi-touch on Windows 8?

Thanks beforehand!

Answer:Disable Multi-Touch on Windows 8

In the touch pad properties in the control panel you will be able to un-check what's now called Pinch Zoom, I believe that will do what you need.

I am currently using a T-400 and would like to upgrade and get a lighter computer.Lenovo is having a Black Friday Encore sae, which ends today, and I can get a good deal on an X-201 tablet for $993 (w/o tax). The big question: should I spend $247 and add the multi-touch screen?I've never used a multi-touch screen and am not sure what advantages it would bring. I've seen friends i-pads and they look like fun for looking at pics and reading but for what else.Do they have any particular problems?I use the computer for school (I'm a teacher), email, and doing some desktop design work using InDesign and might do more web work in the future (have a additional screen for this).Any suggestions on this would be most appreciated, especially from those with a multi-touch screen. I live overseas and my friend will be bringing it so it's not so easy to test and return. Thanks Karen

Answer:to buy or not to buy a multi-touch screen, x201t

I recently purchased a multi-touch x201 tablet, and I it is awesome!  If you are a teacher, I would recommend the multi-touch just for the use with Microsoft one note application.  It has really changed the way I organize my tasks and schedules. I have not had any problems with the multi-touch function, and I think it is a great way to surf the web, much better than using a mouse.   Definitely worth the money.

Hello, I have a Windows 7 Pro 32 bit Dell XPS M1530.

I recently discovered that Synaptics trackpads support multi touch with a simple driver update; however, my Dell XPS Laptop came equipped with an Alps trackpad.

I've been looking for software and/or drivers that allow an Alps trackpad to recognize multi touch gestures (such as two finger scrolling).

Any input? Thanks!

I have bought a sony vaio SVE14A15FNS laptop yesterday. The mousepad is a single button mousepad. I find that the mouse pad is slightly slanted i.e., as it goes towards the right, the mouse pad goes slightly inside the slot. You can have a look at this link for an example
http://www.notebookcheck.net/uploads/pics/fe31ansichttouchpad_02.jpg
If you see towards the right it slightly goes inside. Wanted to know, if that is how Sony is designed or its a defect. I lost sleep over this last night :(.
Can you please help me out with this.

Now that the Windows 7 Beta has been out for a while, I’d like to highlight how folks can try out Windows Touch, Windows 7’s new multi-touch capabilities. In order to take advantage of it, you are going to need a PC that supports multiple touch points. Today – there are a few PCs on the market to choose from: HP TouchSmart All-in-One PCs (IQ500 series & IQ800 series)HP TouchSmart tx2 Tablet PCDell Latitude XT Tablet PCTo enable multi-touch capabilities on these PCs running the Windows 7 Beta you will need to make sure you have the latest multi-touch beta drivers. The driver allows the digitizer screen to support multiple touch points. Remember these are beta drivers, they still need to pass through our rigorous Windows Logo process before they are final, we can’t guarantee that all pre-Windows 7 PCs will have logoed drivers. For HP TouchSmart All-in-One PCs: The driver is available from Windows Update. After you have installed the Window 7 Beta, open Windows Update from the Start menu. You might have to click the “Check for Updates” link on your left so it will find the driver, it is Optional right now so you’ll have to select it before it will install. For the Dell Latitude XT and HP TouchSmart tx2 Tablet PCs: the drivers are available now on N-Trig’s website. N-Trig is the company that makes the digitizer in these PCs (you should read the release notes, there are some limitations, like no pen support you should be aware of a... Read more

Answer:my multi touch gesture isnt working

Intended as a method of enhanced navigation and application control, gestures such as Two-Finger Flick allow you to page through files and photos with one hand, without the need to touch an external mouse. While moving the pointer around the screen with one finger however, a second finger may drag along the surface of the touchpad.

afaik the t400s supports special finger gestures like multi-touch, two-finger scroll, swipe, etc. i was wondering if this is possible with t400 (which i own)? or is there a hardware difference that cannot be changed with software/driver? personally i love the two-finger scroll (ex-macbook user) and the scrolling bar on the side/bottom is a pain to use. thanks
