Calibration of Digitizer and Touchscreen

Question: Calibration of Digitizer and Touchscreen

Hi there, I hope you know why it is important as user of a tablet pc to have a good accuracy at writing and touching on your display. So this is why I am asking myself why is it impossible to calibrate digiziter and touchscreen under Windows 7 so it fits our needs as customer? It is not acceptable that the cursor moves more than 3mm from the position of the digitizer. The calibration tool integrated in Windows 7 is just poor. I get distances between cursor and digitizer up to 2cm when I use it!When I use the Wacom driver the calibration is way more useful but the driver itself isn't. So it is not an alternative to the Lenovo Enhanced Multitouch Driver. As you can see on this blog it is possible to use the calibration tool with another grid so you get a much better calibration. But up to now I am not able to find a way to use this also for calibrating the digitizer. Hey Lenovo, what about to improve the calibration on Windows 7? You would help many many many of your customers. I love my ThinkPad X200t. For me it's the best notebook I could find for my money. Especially for the reason that I use my ThinkPad for artwork I need a very good calibration.

Preferred Solution: Calibration of Digitizer and Touchscreen

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Calibration of Digitizer and Touchscreen

Agreed! After carefully calibrating my digitizer, there is still a 4mm+ discrepancy between my digitizer pen and the cursor around the edges of my display.I'm looking forward to hearing the calibration solution.

Can some one please explain how one uses the Wacom digitizer (I think a drawing tablet althou, as I understand it, you don't draw on the LCD screen) and why or what's it's purpose?  Also, what is the purpose of the calibration and is it used in conjunction with the digitizer and, if so, how? As you can see, I don't really understand the above but I really like the 17" screen and I've had two Thinkpads in the past and love them.  Many thanks in advance. Al

Answer:W700 digitizer and calibration

I have to say, Lenovo really did well with the W700. The build quality is not as good as I expected - seems all thinkpads have gone down on this measurement - but the addition of a proper, quad core mobile workstation to the thinkpad line is very welcome. The calibrator is seperate from the tablet, it measures the screen colours and calibrates accordingly, just like full monitor calibrators. The graphics tablet is a Wacom tablet, a popular drawing tablet used by artists and designers, but built into the palmrest. It is not really for general handwriting like the screen is on a tablet pc. Really, if you have never used these features before, you're unlikely to need them now, so just configure them out when ordering - though the calibrator is cheap enough to keep.

Can anyone be able to run touchscreen calibration in tablet mode under Win7 Tablet PC Settings?  I calibrated it in landscape mode and the touchscreen is good and precise but once turn it into portrait mode, the touchscreen is always off somewhat and I can not run calibration.

Sadly the touchscreen of my ENVY x360 15-aq055na has cracked and now only one half of the screen responds to touch. My main problem is I'm having difficulties finding out which screen digitizers are compatibile with my model though. So i was wondering which digitizer panels would I be able to replace with my current broken one? ThanksRick

Answer:HP ENVY x360 Touchscreen Digitizer

That can be tricky. I am in the process of trying to find one for an Envy Spectre 13t that I donated to a no-for-profit organization a couple of years ago. Some one damaged the touchscreen. You will have to first check to see which screen yours has. Is it one with a UHD (3840 X 1260) or an FHD (1920 x 1080) display? The FHD version has a 30 pin connector and the UHD version has a 40-pin connector.According to the MSG document, yours has an FHD display, so you need the thirty pin display version. Which region of the world do you live in?  I need to know that to perform a search for a replacement screen. I will edit this shortly. Here is one in the UKhttp://www.laptop-lcd-screen.co.uk/shop/HP-COMPAQ-ENVY-X360-15-AQ055NA-15.6-LAPTOP-SCREEN-NO-DIGITIZ...

Hello. Here is my problem, I searched the net for a solution, haven't found.I have a Lenovo X60, model 6366 - with both capative touchscreen and digitizer pen. I worked fine until recently when I have to apply extreme pressure to hear the sound for touching - both touchscreen and digitizer pen.I had installed some of the recommended drivers from the Lenovo support center - for example, the multitouch driver (which didn't work). What is strange is that everything worked fine until recently; maybe it has something to do with the hinge problem - the hinge became very loose (I suspect someone dropped my computer), now I searching for a way to open and tighten it.Details:- I am running Windows 7 32-bit;- the digitizer worked well - even holding the pen over the screen (hovering, not touching) moved the pointer;- the touchscreen worked too - with a bit of pressure, but a reasonable amout of it, I could use my computer;- after I ran TuneUp 2013 StartUp Manager it disabled "Tablet Shortcut Menu", "Tablet Button" and "TSMResident" and the buttons on the screen stopped working - for example, I cannot change the orientation of the screen; I reenabled the programs, tried running the exe-files, but the buttons do not work anymore;- I have never succeeded to make multitouch work (the latest Wacom drivers - ISD_DualTouch_710-8 - made Windows say I have no touchscreen and no digitizer devices...); pressure sensitivity never worked too; a very nice diagnostics tool showed this (now it say... Answer:X60 - touchscreen and digitizer stopped working

Hi, vader11111

Your suspicion of possible damage to your machine could be correct, but there are a few other updates/changes that you might be able to try to see if that solves/helps your issue.

You've updated the drivers, but have you updated the BIOS? The BIOS being up to date can sometimes help several issues. You can also check the drivers on the support site to make sure you have the latest drivers. I know you've updated them from Lenovo Support Center, but I always recommend people to check the support website just to make sure. You can find the drivers and BIOS updates for your machine here. You can filter the results by searching the types of drivers you are seeking in the first dropdown box and Windows 7 in the second box.

Hope it helps, and let me know how it goes,
Adam

Most passive digitizers of lenovo tablets (at least older ones - x41t, x60t, x61t) are hard, i.e. significant pressure from user's finger is required before system will register a "click" from touchscreen. Are there any models or modifications of x series tablets with soft touchscreens, like touchscreens of most windows mobile communicators and "touchphones" (iPhone, LG Vievty etc.), i.e. tablets with touchscreens that require nothing more than a "mere touch" to register "click"?Maybe hardness of touchscreen can be reduced through its driver settings?

Answer:Touchscreen / passive digitizer: can it be soft?

agravein wrote: Are there any models or modifications of x series tablets with soft touchscreens, like touchscreens of most windows mobile communicatorsHmm...I honestly don't know if there is any mod, but I don't think there is a solution for you so far. Nonethess, my thought of this touch screen is different. I am PDA fanatics as well, but when I first got X61T, I thought that this resistive digitizer was so great because it was really durable. I could use my nail directly on the screen without fear of scratch. While on PDA screen protector is a must, I wrote graffiti on my Palm until I had to change screen protector because there were many scratches and I couldn't see the screen clearly. From that day, it's over a year, I still don't see any scratch on my X61 screen. Although you have to press a bit harder, but I think it's not that bad. I also have tx2500z which has really soft passive digitizer and Dell XT which has capacitive digitizer. Yes, XT is the best if you use in portrait mode reading & scrolling things, but what I don't like most is tx2500z because "touch" is too light, I always get dot on when my palm touch on screen while inking. I don't have that issue with X61T at all. agravein wrote: "touchphones" (iPhone, LG Vievty etc.), i.e. tablets with touchscreens that require nothing more than a "mere touch" to register "click"?Maybe hardness of touchscreen can be reduced through its driver settings? That's capacitive touch. ...        I have an X41, so this is not my first tablet. I was stoked about the touch screen feature on my X61, but it needs to be calibrated.Where I touch, is at least 1/2" away from where the arrow displays on the screen. I can only find calibrations for the pen input, not my finger input. I have searched high and low on the puter, and the forums, and find nothing that addresses this.  Also, I have come to the conclusion that the finger touch doesnt work very well at the edges of the screen. Can this be helped by calibration also?   Any help here is appreciated.side note: after reading other threads........I had bezel seperation on X41, sent in for fixing 2 times. Fix lasted a few weeks. First thing I looked at after opening new X61, and I found the same problem with a brand new rig. Their engineers really need to fix this, although, the X41 never had problems, despite this physical bezel problem. Do they have "SUPERGLUE" in China?

Answer:X61 tablet touchscreen calibration?

Has this been solved? I had a x61 tablet for years now, I have simply given up on the touch screen. All is half an inch off, I cannot reach any screen border with my finger on the touch screen. The calibration program in control panel only calibrates the pen, not the finger.

Ok I have a car PC connected to a large stereo. Now its running windows 7, 32 bit ultimate. screen is 1600 x 1200 indash single din and is touchscreen. now the problem is is that the touchscreen goes out of calibration really easy and I recon it's because I'm converting it from DVI to the screens VGA (I use centrafuse 3 to run the system (have been using centrafuse 2 previously).

It uses the "Touchkit" drivers for the screen. It even has 25 point calibration!!! still no luck.

What I want to know is there a fix for this or am I doomed to change out my screen!!!!

Please help.

Hi

When I turn the display off, the touchscreen and digitizer are still enabled, so, if I touch the screen, the display comes back on. Any way to solve this?

Also, not sure if related, if I turn the screen off and leave it overnight, the battery drops by 25-30% in about 8 hours. Same thing happens when I leave the screen turned off for a short period of time, the battery just doesn't last. Not sure if its because the touchscreen and digitizer are still on.

P.S. Running on upgraded Windows 10 64bit.

Recently I found out that my lenovo yoga 710-15ikb laptop doesnt support digitizer active pen technology. Its hidden in online talks and also frustration when you buy a $70 wacom bamboo ink pen to find that it doesnt work. I understand that most active pens wont work with my computer because the screen (and maybe motherboard) dont have a digitizer. However, I have been looking online and some retailers appear to be selling digitizer lcd screens for my specific model. My question is whether or not these retailers are selling aftermarket screens and if they are will the digitizer work once one is installed? Also, I have a lot of experience doing repair work, mainly with digital cameras and building my desktop, so the task of replacing my laptops screen is not a problem Im just unsure as to whether or not buying a new digitizer lcd screen will work. I dont want to spend money that I dont have to if it turns out that I am just being misled.

Thanks!

Let me know if you need more clarification I'll be around for a while.

I went and ran the built in color calibration tool in Windows 10 to adjust gamma, brightness, contrast etc but I want to restore this back to what it was before I ran this calibration tool. How do I do that? There does not seem to be an obvious "Restore Default" button anywhere.

Do I simply delete / remove the Profile listed in the box under Start-Settings-Colour Management and maybe untick the box "Use my settings for this device"?

Thanks.

Answer:Windows color calibration tool and resetting calibration

During color calibration you may have made changes to brightness and contrast outside windows using your monitor display menu.

Open your monitor menu from the controls on your monitor and find default or Auto settings there and reset defaults from there.

Then you can delete your profile, and proceed to recalibrate if necessary.

I received my X220T a couple of weeks ago, one of the standard configurations (i7, Win 7-64bit).  I'm looking to improve the pen calibration.  It's not bad, but there are some regions of the screen where the pen tip doesn't line up well with the cursor. The only calibration I can seem to access is the 4-point calibration.  With previous tablets running Windows 7, when I reset the calibration I would get the 16-point calibration but that doesn't seem to work here.  I only get the 4-point calibration, which improves the calibration marginally.  Is there a way to get to the 16-point calibration or another method to improve the calibration? Thanks,Dave

Answer:X220T pen/screen calibration - where is 16-point calibration?

I found that pressing the Reset button which is next to Calibration did the trick. However the calibration on my tablet is still off near some of the edges.

So I've had this happen countless times. The touchscreen stops working. The laptop is in perfect conditions. The screen, not even a scratch. I format the laptop, it still doesn' work. So, I've always fixed it by installing the AUO Touchscreen Firmware/ sp63116.exe from:http://support.hp.com/mx-es/drivers/selfservice/hp-pavilion-14-f000-sleekbook/5375393/model/5403360#... My problem atm is that this time, that process isn't working. The installer opens, installs the thing, then the program opens and immediately closes. This prompts windows to ask me if the driver installed correctly or that if it should attempt to install under a compatibility mode. No matter which I choose, it still does the same thing. It won't stay open for more than 1 second.  I've restored my laptop to factory presets a couple times already and the touchscreen isn't working yet because the driver/program/wizard thingy refuses to stay open after it is done installing. Can anybody help me? Perhaps share a different version of the installer? Thank you.

SOme info about the laptop. Product Name: Sleekbook HP Pavilion 14-f004lOperating System: Microsoft Windows 8 (64-bit) I've had this problem a couple times already. The touchscreen stops working sporadically and the only way to make it work again is installing the  AUO Touchscreen Firmware/ sp63116.exe driver from this site. however this last time I've run into quite the weird problem. The driver installer CLOSES INMEDIATELY BEFORE I CAN DO ANYTHING A couple months ago I posted this:http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Video-Display-and-Touch/AUO-Touchscreen-Firmware-installer-doe... Since then due to time constrains and schoolwork, I did not attempt to restore the BIOS until today.Today I restored the BIOS, followed all procedures they gave me, and the installer for the Touchscreen firmware does the following: -Runs-Asks for permission-Install it-Finishes installing-Runs the program's window-Inmediately closes, I can't even click on anything because it flashes for a second and disappears. I've already restored the laptop to factory presets. The installer DOES THE SAME THINGRestored the BIOS. The installer DOES THE SAME THING So please, do not tell me to restore the laptop. I've done it already. Doesn't work. Same thing for the BIOS. Nothing. Can anyone help me? Thank you

I recently acquired a HP Pavilion all in one pc but there seem to be problems with the touchscreen. It registered touches very intermittently, and not always where I touched. First thing I tried was to calibrate it. But it just wouldn't register certain touches in some of the places it wanted me to press. Nest i Reset everything to factory settings, still not working same probs. Installed all the latest drivers and updates, no joy. But one morning I did turn it on and it worked perfectly. For half a day and then it was up to its old tricks.
Took it to a computer shop and they said it needed a new touchscreen card. Basically I want to know, do these touchscreen sort of devices have a piece of hardware, the card, specifically for touchscreen. or is he lying to me and its some software problem he could fix in ten minutes. He's quoting around £40for the card. And another £20-£30 for the labour. Any help would be much appreciated. If there is a card just for the touchscreen then I could believe him. But ive never heard of a card just for that. Any help would be so much appreciated. Had this around 3 weeks for my daughter to use the touchscreen as shes too young for mouse and keyboard, but she'd like a number of touchscreen games as she's very adept at using touchscreen on her tablet. Thanks and sorry for the long post.

Question: digitizer pen

I have just recently bought an i7 Lenovo Yoga pro 2. As many of you may know, it does not come with a digitizer pen. I would like to purchase one but I am not sure what to get. Please help me with suggestions.

Answer:digitizer pen

Good afternoon and welcome to the community.

The Yoga 2 Pro doesn't have a digitizer. The panel is 10-finger capacitive touch. That said, there are a number of capacitive stylii available, but I don't have experience with them , so I can't offer a recommendation.

Hopefully other members will join the discussion with their experiences that will aid your decision.

Hi there, I have an X61 tablet, 7767 A4U, and want to buy a new digitizer pen. I come to ask if I can use a X41 or any other digitizer in my touch-laptop? By the way, can I make my screen finger-touchable, just through updating the software? My computer is only penable now, not for finger-touch. Thanks.Xiaodong

Answer:What digitizer can I use?

i believe an x41 pen will work but it probably won't fit in your holder and the eraser won't work. a gateway m275 pen will also work but again no eraser and it probably won't fit the holder.  i'm using an x41 pen in a gateway m275 tablet and it works fine. check in device manager under human interface devices and see if there is anything listed like, touch panel driver or HID-wacf008 or Gunze. not all x61's came with multi-touch screens.  from what i understand the viewing quality of the multi-touch is less than the pen version. probably because of the extra layer on the screen.  if you had multi-touch it would respond to your finger.

Question: X60 Digitizer Pen

I have posted before about my recently acquired X60T having a gap all round between the screen and the bezel. This is making me very, very nervous about the use of the pen with Windows 8, because of the sharp glass edge that the pen needs to move across. The pen that came with the machine has no Lenovo part number, but it seems to work well. I ordered a cheap spare pen with spare nibs from ebay. It also has no part number, although the advert said"IBM LENOVO ThinkPad X60 X61 X200 X201 W700 Tablet Digitizer STYLUS PEN 39T7481" The pen shown in the advert has a grey piece at the rubber (as opposed to the nib) end, as does the pen that came with the tablet, but the ebay pen that came has a red rubber end. When I move this pen round on the screen, a spot moves under it, and it highlights things, but I cannot make it click anything. Similarly it won't draw in Paint like the older pen. Is it faulty, or is it a different type of pen? I am trying a possible fix found elsewhere on the net, of removing the nib and lying it on its side for 24 hours. What I really need to know id whether I need to replace the screen bezel or whether there is some magic gunge i can use to fill the gap.

The pen supplier hasn't yet replied, although it's early days, and thescreen bezel is still a problem. An additional slightly odd problem is that the Windows 8 pen calibration utility seems to throw the pen calibration off rather than improve it. I am holding the pen vertical to do this. Do I have to accept that pen actions are flaky with an older machine like this and Win8. The machine is otherwise extremely good for doing what I want - controlling a graphics intensive audio program - and seems far more suitable than my son's newish touch screen Acer Win8 converible device.

Question: Helix Digitizer

How do I determine if my Helix came with a Digitizer? It came with the pen, but the pen does not work at all. The touch screen works fine and all drivers and software have been installed. The pen does nothing when put up to the touch screen. I am trying to determine if there is a hardware issue or simply the hardware does not exist.

Answer:Helix Digitizer

can you plug the pen into the pen silo? Also what is your full model number (or MTM) on the Helix?

I am having trouble with my XP X60 stylus.  When converting to tablet mode, the cursor freezes and the pen is nonfunctional.   Will work if not completely latched in.  Has anyone else had this same problem?  Lenovo experts do not know.

Answer:Digitizer pen problem X60

I would re-install the drivers for the screen/pen! It could also be the cable going to the "wacom". When you switch modes see if you get an "!" in yellow under your computer hardware.

Just to be clear, this is the laptop that I have. I need a pen for it. Any pen at all. Does one exist? Every single pen I've found, people say it doesn't work with this specific laptop. I have friends with lenovo laptops and I've tried their pens on mine and it doesn't work. My finger works fine, but I can't take notes in class like that. I have a pen that works on my iPad, but I don't really like it. I tried it on the Yoga, and it did work, but it was downright terrible. It only picked up about half the time. Lenovo has a thinkpad yoga pen on their website, but I'm quite positive that won't work with this model. So is there anywhere I can a suitable pen? Thanks.

Answer:Yoga 3 14 Digitizer Pen

The yoga 3 14 does NOT have a digitizer layer under the LCD panel. Which means NO digitizer pen will ever work with it. Trust me, im typing from my yoga 3 14 now. The 14" Thinkpad yoga does however suppport pen input. Your only option for a pen is one of those capacative pens with a rubber tip.

Question: Cracked Digitizer

Hi everyone,

It seems i've cracked the digitizer on my laptop and now the touch function doesn't work properly. While the display still works fine there's a giant crack across the screen and it's really annoying. I had to disable the touch via Hardware Manager because it was really going haywire.

I keep trying to call the support number, 1.866.724.8600, (removed content) but the machine keeps telling me that it " can't connect me to anybody."

I don't understand. How can I get ahold of someone at HP so I can get this fixed?

Hello, my Lenovo yoga 13 display is broken (just digitizer, not the whole display, LCD and everything other inside is ok) and I'm looking for new. On ebay and other public stores, I found only whole display or lot of digitizers for yoga 11 but not for 13. Is there another way how to get new digitizer without buying the whole display? On repair service, they want 11 000 CZK (about 650$) for replacement but they want to replace the whole display, which is not necessary in my case. Thanks to all for reply

I have a Thinkpad X41 Tablet and my digitizer pen is stuck in the computer and won't release.  Does anyone know how to solve this problem.

Answer:Tablet Digitizer Pen

It depends on where it is stuck.  Sometimes you can separate the keyboard bezel from the lower case, just slightly, and the pen will come out.  You can also use tweezers to see if you can grap the pen clip and pull it out.

Hi evreyone,i have a Lenovo X41 Tablet and i'm looking for to buy related digitizer pen, because the original is broken. After an internet search i found that the X41 pen is out of production, then is impossible to get it.My question is: exists some universal (NOT "Lenovo") pen that is compatible and that i can use with my X41? Thanks.Paolo.

Hi andromeda35, and welcome to the Lenovo User Community!

Lenovo spare parts are available through IBM in Europe. There is no online store in Italy, but there is a phone sales line. I checked the French online store and the pens are available (part 39T7303).

Hallo, I own a x61tablet with 223 days of warranty left.A few weeks ago the "right-click" button on my digitizer pen broke and is probably still stuck inside the pen holder device.I couldn't verify this because I do not want to open it myself due to the warranty restrictions. However the drop-out mechanism of the penholder does still hold the pen but won't release is properly. Now there is a possibility, that the "right-click" button got lost a long time ago and that the created gap on the pen is responsible for the jam inside the holder. Is there a way to just get the pen fixed without sending in the whole tablet?I need it every day.

If it has the Lenovo P/N 0B42547 you should be good. I've seen these on eBay, so you would expect those to work. If this is the case with the one you bought, could be a faulty pen. Good luck.

Hello all.Sorry if this has been covered elswhere, but I couldn't find info on it anywhere. Does anyone know, if I order a W700 with just the pantone calibrator and fingerprint scanner, and NOT the wacom digitizer, will it still have an 'empty/non-functioning' digitizer section as part of the case, and a hole in the side for the pen? I already own a full size tablet which I'll be using with the machine, and I'd find it aesthetically annoying to still have the non functioning parts built into the case. I'd appreciate any info, especially any links to pics of w700 models without digitiser sections in the case (if they exist)Thanks alot.jesse.

Answer:W700 Without Digitizer

I do not know Lenovos manufacturing practices, I am expecting delivey of my first lenovo, a w700ds very soon!! But according to the thinkpad w700/w700ds hardware maintenance manual (downloadable from the lenovo website), there is 3 specific part numbers for,... 44C9504 - Palm rest assembly with fingerprint reader44C9505 - Palm rest assembly with fingerprint reader and color sensor44C9506 - Palm rest assembly with fingerprint reader, colorsensor, and digitizerSo as a very good guess, I would expect Lenovo to configure your machine without a redundant digitizer. Especially since they are known for build quality. I hope this helps, argh

Can someone help please?Online Shop One pcs High Quality Black Outer Front Glass Lens Repair Parts For Nokia Lumia 730 LCD Screen Digitizer Pannel Replacement+Tools|Aliexpress Mobile

Answer:Replacing my 730's digitizer

There is a connector on the top right hand side.(the picture in the link you provided)
are you replacing it by yourself ? (better get it done by a professional)
because its not that easy.
the display and the touch panel is a single unit, glued on by Liquid Optically Clear Adhesive.
In the OEM version display and touchpanel comes as a single unit.
However if you manage to seperate the display and touchpanel you can use what you showed in the link.
I know this because ive had the same experience with my Nexus 7 . I ended up replacing the whole display unit.
Make sure you get the OEM one, because it is uncertain that other touchpanels available online are guaranteed to work properly, with your device.
The best option is to get it to a mobile repair shop if you have one nearby, they will get it working for you.

Hello,I experience a problem with pressure sensitivity on my X201. When I move pen very close to the screen I get a line drawing or a click, though I don't touch the screen. If it is a pen issue it is a very ubiquitous one. I've tried a pen from HP tm2, and I bought myself an Axiotron Studio Pen (UP-911-E) both of them have the same behaviour. Also I tried to remove nib from the pen, and move it around -- I got strokes. With original Lenovo pen and Axiotron one. Moreover I checked pressure values (in Linux), and pressuer is almost linearly related to distance from the screen (and that's with the nib out). In Wacom Forum I got this answer: The tablet should report pressure only when you touch it with the pen. There is some calibration needed, but that should be done during production. Perhaps it could be corrected with a firmware update from Lenovo. So I want to request a firmware update. Could you give me a hint on how I do it? or where can I get one? Thank you.

This seems to be a topic that is beating a dead horse, but I have yet to find a definite answer, so forgive me.I am currently on the market for a Yoga,  and it's come down to the Yoga Pro 2 vs the ThinkPad Yoga. I have found a model which seems to suit all my needs but I am unsure if it has a digitizer which supports the pen. From what I have read, it doesn't include the pen, but some sources say you can buy a pen and use it on the screen while others just do not mention it. The model in question is: S1 12.5" with the i5 and 500GB HDD and 16GB SDD. Model #  20CD00CHUS. Beyond this, is there an easy rule of thumb to see which TPY have the digitizer? Thanks, and sorry agan for the overly redundant question.

Answer:Which TPY models have digitizer support?

Good day and welcome to the community.

Searching for that MT-M on the support site yields:
ThinkPad Yoga 20CD00CHUS
i5-4200U(2.6GHz), 4GB RAM, 500GB 7200rpm HD, 11.6in 1366x768 LCD, Wireless Option, Bluetooth, Intel HD Graphics, UltraNav, Secure Chip, 8c Li-Poly, Win8 Pro 64

IIRC, no 1366x768 LCD models were equipped with a digitizer. That was an option only with the FHD panels.

Looking at the PSREF: http://psref.lenovo.com/Product/91 bears this out. A quick scan of the table show the 1366x768 models as multitouch, but without digitizer pen support. The specific model above is down near the bottom of the listing.

Hope this helps.

Hi, welcome to the forums.

I can only talk from my experience.  I have ThinkPad Pen Pro 4X80H34887 on my Thinkpad Yoga 14 ( 20DM008UUS ).
http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/itemdetails/4X80H34887/460/41E9A3C3FB5A45A9AC47C56812E4188C

For what I know (I may be wrong) the Pen Pro uses Wacom technology, it has a battery inside. I found it very nice with a nice size... but it depends on personal taste.

Can you post the full model number of the computer you want to check it will work with the pen?
I know that the Thinkpad Pen Pro web page may not say much. So, what I saw it was recomended on this forum was:
1) Check your computer model against the PSRef Books: http://psref.lenovo.com/
See if your model is listed with "Active Pen" support.

2) There is more information about the Thinkpad Pen Pro here: https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/acc100178

There is also the Thinkpad Yoga Pen , but I don't have experience with that one, some amazon review says it does not have batteries and it focus for replacement for Thinkpad Yoga that came with pen... but I don't know.

Hi, After working out that my laptop (Thinkpad Yoga S1) most likely has a digitizer, I purchased a pen for it. However, since I wasn't 100% sure, I bought a cheaper, off-brand pen that people said was compatible, the listing for which can be found here. I received it today, but my computer seems unresponsive when I try to use it. When I went to Wacom Pen or Pen and Touch Input, the pen calibration screens were either blank (Wacom) or didn't load (Input). Is there something else I have to do to make my pen work? Did I purchase the wrong pen? If it helps, the pen slot on my computer is still plugged; I was going to unplug it, but to do so I'd have to remove the back paneling, and one of the screws keeping it in place has been stripped. The thread confirming that my laptop has a digitizer is here. Thanks!

Answer:Thinkpad Yoga digitizer pen

Hi

Please notice that this is my personal opinon and it does not mean I'm 100% right, this is based on my experience.

I think that the "Digitizer PEN for Lenovo ThinkPad X60 X61 X200 X201" is for older Thinkpad models. I have a Thinkpad Yoga 14 (Similar to S1) (20DM008UUS) and it has a digitizer screen, but it requires an "active pen" (with batteries inside) to be able to work with the digitizer.

I have the Thinkpad Pen Pro and it works fine with my model. I still think you have a digitizer on your laptop but I think it is the wrong pen.

Here it also some more info about the pen that Amy wrote.

Hi I have hp laptop with following properties: Natural Silver 13.3" pavillion x360 13 s194nr convertible laptop with 6th gen core i5 processor, 6 GB of ram, touchscreen 500 GB hard drive and windows 10. recently my touchscreen digitizer has been broken and I had such a hard time to work with my laptop. I want to replace my broken digitizer by the new one, but unfortunately I couldn't find any web site providing me a link to buy a digitizer, although I searched a lot. I lived in Pakistan and needed it within reasonable time. So, I just wanted to know if there is anyone here knows how to buy a digitizer for Natural Silver 13.3" pavillion x360 13 s194nr convertible laptop?

Answer:Where can I buy a touch screen digitizer for hp?

Hi, Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A great place where you can find solutions for your issues with help from the community! I have gone through your issue of touchscreen digitizer has been broken. So there are Two option: 1.  If your product is under warranty then contact HP call center and asking for that hardware replacement in HP service center. So hp executive will help you as needed. Also you can call if it's out of warranty and want to fix it. 2. You can purchase online also , as few online sellers are selling that product and fix it on your own. I would recomend the option 1. Hope this will help. Thanks.  ****Click the White Kudos star to say thanks********Please mark Accept As Solution if it solves your problem****

There's woefully little information regarding compatibility between the x60t, x41t, and the x200t in terms of digitizer pen compatibility.  I'm trying to replace the pen for my x200t and the only one I can find is specified as a pen for the x60t.  Will it fit/snap into my x200t pen slot?  Does it have the erase function and the auxiliary button? Thanks for your time.

Answer:Are all digitizer pens compatible?

Just tried my X61t pen on the X200t, and yes, they seem to be the same. The X61t pen was recognized and did fit in the X200t slot as well.

Hi,I just purchased my Thinkpad x201 tablet notebook. I have Windows 7, and I also installed the appropriate Wacom driver to support pressure sensitivity (which by the way works perfectly).  My problem is that after several exact calibrations, the cursor is always a bit off relative to the tip of the pen. In the center part of the screen this difference is extremely small, but approaching either one of the edges it becomes larger.  Beforehand, I didn't think this would be a problem, but later on I realized it makes operations much harder. E. g. graphics, photo editing, which need precise movements. If there's anything else that I could tell you, please ask. Any ideas would be appreciated.Thanks.

Hi! I just got a Thinkpad Yoga, 12.5 inch display, HD resolution, and I was wondering if I had a Wacom digitizer in my model, because a lot of posts were saying to look for the HID-compliant touch screen, which I found in my device manager: Also, Wacom Pen was preinstalled on my computer, but the pen slot seems to be plugged up, the same way as the ones on the models that don't have the digitizer, and my model is HD and not FHD.  My model number is 20DLCTO1WW

Answer:Is there a Wacom digitizer in my device?

Good day and welcome to the community.

I don't know why you're seeing the Wacom device in DevMgr, but looking at the system configurator on the sales page indicate that pen capability only comes with the upgrade FHD display option. The default HD display option is multitouch, only.

Hope this helps to clarify a bit.
Regards.

Is there anything I can do about this besides buying a new one? I've read other forums online and this seems to be the only resolution. About an inch from the screen the pen is detected and it is as if the left click is permanently on so on the desktop it creates bounding boxes or when writing in onenote or anywhere else it starts to write without touching the screen also because left click is permanently on one tap one click or two taps two click does not work either. Otherwise very satisfied with the laptop, just feels quality, typing is nice and silent will be great for the small classes I'm in.

Answer:X220i Faulty Digitizer Pen

It should still be under warrenty so you should be able to get it replaced by Lenovo free of charge.

I have a X220T and just updated my firmware, downloaded from Lenovo website, now I have an issue. When the screen is in "regular" laptop position, the digitizer works fine. However, when I rotate my screen and fold to tablet mode the digitizer seems to be inverted on landscape (battery as top) and not working remotely correctly in any portrait mode. However It will work fine in tablet mode when screen is rotated to secondary landscape (camera as top). Are there setting I can go to to fix this problem?

Answer:X220T Digitizer Issue

Kindly update the BIOS and check if it resolve your issue.

You may download it from the mentioned below web link.

I just purchased a Refurbished Helix unit and noticed that there is no pen included. What is the sensitivity of the digitizer on the Helix? I see that there is a Helix specific digitizer pen for sale on the Lenovo site that has 256 levels of sensitivity 0A33910 and a Thinkpad 2 digitizer pen 0A33889 with the same dimensions with 1024 levels of sensitivity. Will the latter fit into the Helix slot and be fully functional with the Helix?

Answer:Helix Digitizer Sensitivity

Hi mikaila, The digitizer pen compatible with the Helix is 0A33910 wich has 256 levels of sensitivity. You might want to check with your model number that your Helix is compatible with digitizer pen though. Some Helix are just multitouch only. Vince.

I recently purchased the digitizer jr. ver 4.0 with the understanding it would export / save files in .DST. I am stumped. I have read all documents from the company and cannot get this to program to save in .dst format. Please let me know if I need to ball this program up and move on or if this will work.

Thanks.

Answer:Solved: Digitizer Jr. Ver 4.0 Help convert jef to DST

I'm not sure, but I doubt that Janome's software will save (convert) to a dst.
I can convert a Janome jef file to a dst for you if that will help

I've been using an X60 tablet for several years now, and am used to holding the pen button and then tapping to right click. Is there a way to configure the W700 to work this way? I find it much easier to click accurately. I seem to remember there being a setting for it on my X60, but I can't remember where it is.

Answer:Digitizer right-click button

if you have the wacom driver installed, this setting can be found in the wacom control panel by clicking on the 'options' button.

HI there I bought Helix (3697 CTO) from a friend of mine who came from Australia I needed it for drawing, graphics designing. But to my surprise there was a cap in place of the stylus I was very confused and decided to open it as per instructions there should be 2 connecters white(digitizer) and black(display/touch) here is the link http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/X-Series-Tablet-ThinkPad-Laptops/Can-I-add-a-pen-to-Helix-if-it-didn-t-c...  I also searched on youtube there are 3 connecters not 2 joining motherboard to lcdhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uN2K3qd82AII am now totally confused if I got touch only or with digitizer  Here is the pic of my helix Link to image

Answer:Helix Digitizer Confustion

UpdateI disconnected the white connecter and turned on the helix the touch stopped working. Does that mean touch and digitizer are connected with same connecter or just the touch? And when i run touch screen update it gives and errorThis update is either not necessary or not applicable to your system

hello fellow thinkpad enthusiasts... is anyone else having issues with dust showing up behind your lcd's touchscreen? i am having major issues here... i am also on my fourth replacement screen and from what i have noticed they all have been having this problem, and i am very upset because this looks to be a quality control as well as a design flaw... my first two screens appeared to be brand new and the other two were field service units which im guessing are factory serviced refurbs... just to test i actually kept all 4 and compared them side by side [i should have taken pics, sorry] and they all have had some specs of dust located in the layer between the digitizer and lcd. i am pretty savy and have worked on many different thinkpad models so i am comfortable with servicing my own unit, i have the maxed out i7 / 8gb ram/ 256ssd and i even have the WWAN card with the touch model.. it fits you just need either the antennas and you can run them in the screen yourself which is a pain or you can just get the multi-touch lcd with the antennas already ran from the factory, there are two different fru part #'s for the multi-touch lcd one with WWAN and one with out. i paid for the 3yr on site + battery replacement warranty and lenovo is pretty fast and good about me placing fru's and i must say i am pleased with their customer service outside of my enterprise experience with them in the past 6 years or so. i am just really upset i absolutely love this device... Answer:X1CT gen 1 - dust behind lcd digitizer

Dust specs within the layers of the LCD are a fairly common problem. You'll have to get Lenovo to replace the panel.

Good luck.

This is an odd one, I think: I was given an X220 tablet/laptop, which was missing its pen (or stylus), so I bought one that was supposedly matched to the X220, the stylus having the part number: 41u3143. The red plastic point of the stylus is detected at a distance of approx. one inch from the surface of the monitor screen, rendering it useless for any practical purpose. Do I simply have the wrong stylus here, or is there a sensitivity setting I can adjust to prevent it being detected before it actually touches the screen?

Hello,i just received my new Thinkpad Helix (First Gen) and after a few days, there is a problem with my digitizer pen. It seems like the Thinkpad reacts to early to the pen. E.g. while using OneNote 2013, I begin writing, before the pen touches the display. There is like a 3-5mm gap between the point where the pen is recognised and the display. I already tried to reset or re-callibrate the pen, but it didn't help. Did anybody have a simillar problem or knowes a fix?

My ThinkPad W700 has some proprietary Lenovo software called the "Digitizer Activity Monitor."  I'm trying to figure out what this program does and whether it is necessary or desireable to keep it.  I'd like to remove it if it's not somtething I need because it  hogs such a large percentage of CPU resources.  It always uses at least 25% of my total CPU capacity and sometimes much more.

Answer:Digitizer Activity Monitor-Is it necessary?

Do you have the palmrest digitizer? If not, uninstall it. If so, make sure it's the latest version. If you don't plan on using it, you might consider uninstalling it as well.

I don't think it using 25% CPU is proper in any case.

I've found a nice combo to make the infamous digitizer on the X220T behave a bit better. This will also enable pressure sensitivity in Adobe programs. It will only apply to one screen orientation at a time. I've updated to the P0006 firmware using Lenovo's firmware update utility. Here's what I did -- I'm just reporting it, I'm not encouraging anyone to do the same (though why not?) I didn't have any Wacom drivers installed prior to this, btw. My system was clean of any Wacom residue   I updated the FW of the digitizer. Download the utility here: http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles/fwdigi01.exeI installed the Wacom ISD Tablet driver, v. 701_8int, from here: ftp://ftp.wacom-europe.com/pub/WINDOWS/isd701-8_int.exeI restarted the computerI hit Start, wrote 'calibrate' and chose Calibrate the screen for pen and touch inputI hit Reset on the next window (for both pen AND touch, to be sure), and then clicked OKI started the Command Prompt as an Administrator and ran the following command:tabcal lincal novalidate XGridPts=5,16,60,165,258,640,922,1115,1220,1264,1350 YGridPts=5,12,39,105,225,400,575,695,761 It needs to be a single line with no spaces between the values. This brought up a very detailed calibration screen I meticulously went through. It made the screen behave better, but it's only for one orientation at a time. Turning the screen to portrait will not provide optimal results. If you use your tablet exclusively in port... Read more

I tried calibrating the digitizer on the X230t but for some reason there is always one side of the screen (on the edges) that the digitzer seems way off (more than half an inch). I never had this problem on my Fujitsu tablet PC before or after calibration so I wanted to know if that was normal. I noticed this only happens when the laptop is in tablet mode and not when it's in the standard laptop mode.

Answer:X230t digitizer performance?

Try the Kvirtanen (one of the forum users) method for the x220t (ignore step one) : I updated the FW of the digitizer. Download the utility here: http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles/fwdigi01.exe I installed the Wacom ISD Tablet driver, v. 701_8int, from here: ftp://ftp.wacom-europe.com/pub/WINDOWS/isd701-8_int.exeI restarted the computerI hit Start, wrote 'calibrate' and chose Calibrate the screen for pen and touch inputI hit Reset on the next window (for both pen AND touch, to be sure), and then clicked OKI started the Command Prompt as an Administrator and ran the following command:tabcal lincal novalidate XGridPts=5,16,60,165,258,640,922,1115,1220,1264,1350 YGridPts=5,12,39,105,225,400,575,695,761 Hope that it works.
