Is the new Gobi1000/2000 Mobile Broadband with GPS compatible with X200 Tablet and Verizon network?

Question: Is the new Gobi1000/2000 Mobile Broadband with GPS compatible with X200 Tablet and Verizon network?

I recently purchased a Thinkpad X200 Tablet computer (model 7449-44U) using Windows 7 and would like to upgrade it with an internal WWAN card for use with Verizon Wireless Mobile Broadband (in the USA). I am not very knowlegeable about WWAN and need some technical assistance in making sure I order the correct WWAN modules. I am interested in the new Qualcomm-Gobi 1000/2000 mini card modules that are reported to include standalone GPS capability as well as supporting a wide range of RF bands for global connectivity. Please refer to the attached product sheets for more info on Gobi 1000 and Gobi 2000 modules.http://www.gobianywhere.com/files/gobi1000_overview.pdfhttp://www.gobianywhere.com/files/gobi2000_overview.pdf I have contacted Lenovo sales and technical support and was told only WWAN card that is compatible with both my X200 Tablet and Verizon Wireless is P/N 57Y4485. see attached verizon data sheet.http://shop.lenovo.com/SEUILibrary/controller/e/web/LenovoPortal/en_US/catalog.workflow:item.detail?... This data sheet has no information about any GPS capabilities. Is this a different WWAN card from the Gobi 1000 or 2000? I would like to have GPS capability with the WWAN (useful for my work as well as traveling)If you go to Lenovo's website for X200 Tablets, you can custom order a new X200 with the Gobi 1000 chipset configured for Verizon Wireless but I believe this card is not P/N 57Y4485. Please help me what I need to order.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Anybody know anything about the Qualcomm Gobi 1000 or Gobi 2000 WWAN module with integrated GPS??? Please provide any information you might have about these products and their use in the X200 Tablet.

Looks like none of the existing or announced (CES 2014) tablets support T-Mobile mobile broadband. Modems are locked to AT&T, etc.
Am I wrong? I'd like to get a Dell Venue 8 Pro, Toshiba Encore, Lenovo Thinkpad 8, ... with T-Mo mobile broadband. Will it be possible?

Is using the Internet Sharing on your phone not an option? I would like to have a tablet with data built in, but it is too expensive for me. I have unlimited Internet Sharing through my phone for $30/month.

Can someone confirm for me that ordering this will get me an Ericsson F3507G?  I have been told from our I.T. purchasing that it will be an Option card and he can get it cheaper and install himself.  I am trying to replicate a previously purchased unit  that is out in the field, for testing. Thanks

Answer:X200 Tablet with Integrated AT&T Mobile Broadband (Ericsson 3G with GPS)

If you are configuring that in the online store, the "Integrated AT&T Mobile Broadband (Ericsson 3G with GPS)  [add $80.00]" will be the F3507G, unless there has been a recent change. Amazing if your IT guy can go through the purchasing cycle, install, and test, for less than that.

Greetings!  I purchased a Thinkpad X201 (running Windows 7 64-bit) withBluetooth   (Bluetooth w/ antenna),  Integrated WiFi wireless LAN adapters   (Intel Centrino Advanced-N + WiMAX 6250),  Integrated mobile broadband   (Integrated Mobile Broadband (Gobi 2000 3G with GPS) ), and  Selectable SIM   (SIM Card: USA ) and I selected Verizon Mobile Broadband.  However, the SMS option on the Tools tab of Access Connections is gryyed out and, per Access Connections Help, "If the laptop does not have sim card, SMS Message box will be greyed out and cannot be used."  Since my laptop is suppose to have a SIM card, I should have SMS functionality/access.  I inquired at Lenovo but did not obtain any help (Owen did not seem to know what was going on at all!).  Verizon wants me to download their VZAccess Manager for SMS.  However, since I have a SIM card and the SMS functionality of Access Connections, I should not need to do so.  Can anyone direct me to the information that I need so that the SMS Message Box will no longer be greyed out and I will be able to send text messages? I had searched for this topic on this forum and found a posting stating that SMS could be enabled by left-click the Mobile Broadband icon on the Tools tab.  However, when I left-click or right-click this icon, the only options are for (i) Account information and Activation and (ii) Data Usage. Any help that you ... Hello! My friend has 5gb Verizon mobile broadband service and she uses the supplied USB Modem on her laptop for her conneciton. If she wanted to use the modem on another PC to connect in her house would that be a problem? Would she have to purchase another modem? I think she has software on her laptop that Verizon installed to connect it, i am sure that would need to be installed to the PC?
Thanks for any help

Answer:Sharing Verizon Mobile broadband with other PC.

She can put that USB aircard into any computer, just install the verizon software and plug it in

If she wants to share the laptop's connection with a desktop (browse the PC on both at the same time) this can be done too with Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) but browsing speeds for both would suck unless she's in a 3G zone most likely

In a bunch of the pre-release reviews they stated that you would be able to choose your wireless data provider. http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=6536&review=lenovo+thinkpad+x1+carbon+business+ultr... Apparently, this is not accurate.  When I received my X1 Carbon it had a defective WWAN card.  While on the phone with Tech Support I asked about using Verizon instead of AT&T and was informed that AT&T was the only carrier supported by the X1 Carbon. Not cool that the reviews/promo material that is used to sell the product does not match what is being sent out.

Looks like Sierra Wireless has an embedded solution available. Is Lenovo going to pick up and offer this???!! (http://news.vzw.com/news/2011/01/pr2011-01-04h.html)

"Sierra Wireless AirPrime MC Series modules for LTE networks also support Qualcomm?s Gobi? application programming interface (API). This interface helps streamline integration efforts, spur application development among third-party developers, and delivers greater flexibility to device manufacturers."

Since Lenovo already offers the Qualcomm GOBI module, they must be quite familiar with the API and should be able to dev something for this LTE card fairly quickly.

Let's get with the times, Lenovo!

I went into the local Verizon store today to see what the latest phones available were. While in there the Manager just kept going on and on about how fast their Broadband Wireless service is.....i let him sit there and "wow" me with how fast it was, he just kept clicking on website after website, streaming video, etc.....and granted it was fast enough....but i mentioned i had a Cingular Broadband 860 card that was "just as fast" and it was on

so he challenged me to a duel of sorts, of course my Dell D620 was in the car, and i had some time to kill, so hey, sure, whatever you like....so i grabbed it

we got both systems rebooted and all initial HDD activity stopped....we launch our browsers, typed in the same address, and clicked together and bam, mine was done a good 5-10 seconds before his....okay, lets try another site, same thing, over and over, i even let him choose the sites

so then since we are running different laptops with different browsers i suggested we run simple ping tests through the command prompt to eliminate these factors, and bam bam bam, i completely mopped the floor with him, so i finally cant resist and look at him and ask, "can you hear me now"? ROFL.....the young Asst Mgr was watching the whole thing and he was just laughing along...LOL

then we ran a test at bandwidthspeedtest.com just to be sure, he comes in at 400'ish kbps, mine is hitting 750'ish kbps

keep in mind the Acceleration client buil... Read more

I am going to customize new x301 laptop, however i have some questions about Verizon wireless mobile broadband module. For AT&T, i know the hardware device, it's "Ericsson_F3507g_Mobile_Broadband_Module".Could anybody show me the hardware device of Verizon card?  Doing search on web, i just know it's "Verizon Wireless UNDP BroadBand Option"    If my x301 is built in Verizon card (from Lenovo customize), is it also supported GSM, HSPDA? And the sim slot is available (not white/blank slot) so that i can insert GSM sim card into? Do i need to activate or unlock Verzion on my laptop so  that i can use any GSM of any service providers? And how about AT&T wireless mobile broadband, is it the same? Please help me to clarification. Thank you so much.

Answer:X301 wireless mobile broadband Verizon and AT&T

The Verizon module is Qualcomm Wireless HS-USB Ethernet Adapter 9202 The Verizon module supports SIM card and 3G networks for international roaming via Vodaphone. No unlocking needed. AT&T SIM in the Verizon card may work, but is unsupported. The Ericcson card will connect to AT&T networks, but not Verizon EVDO.

Hi there. I'm in the UK and bought an X200 about 6 months back with built-in 3G card. I used the included T-Mobile free month's trial until it came to an end. I am now using the laptop out and about more and am wondering what my options are - can I use any mobile broadband provider's SIM card or is it locked to T-mobile in some way? Looking at T-mobile, O2 websites, they only seem to offer USB dongles which seem a bit inelegant. Just spoke to a T-Mobile customer rep and she seemed to think you could get SIM cards only in stores. Any advice welcomed. Edit: just realised the trial was with Vodafone not T-Mobile. No wonder the T-Mobile rep was confused...

Is anyone with Verizon's Mobile Broadband able to get text message on their laptop?  I can't figure out how to do it.Thanks! Josh

Answer:How to receive text messages with Mobile Broadband (Verizon)

Hi, had same problem using Telstra (Australia) SIM.  Found out you have to open access connections, go to Tools Menu, left click on Mobile Broadband and select "Start Text Messaging".Then you will see messages coming from other parties.  Unfortunately messages won't appear unless you do this anbd there is no shortcut to the Text Messaging app that I have been able to find yet.  There may be a command line string that you can utilise but have not found it yet. Regards  W500  Windows Vista Business.

You may get a partial answer here, but given the specific nature of your problem, which appears like it might be tied to some aspect of your local 3G service provision, you will really need local Lenovo resources involved.

I HAVE A X200 TABLET 7449-9EU IM TRYING TO FIND OUT IF THIS MODEL IS FINGER TOUCH COMPATIBLE IF SOMEONE CAN POINT ME IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION I WOULD BE GRATEFUL.

Answer:X200 tablet how can I find out which models are finger touch compatible

Well I would say that the most empiric way to do it is just try to touch your screen on some dialog boxes or pictures where gestures would trigger a reaction from the computer..... Indeed it's not very easy to figure it out from Lenovo support website ... I tried the product number but this only gave back basic characteristics of the machine, not the exact type of display/screen  I know mine is wacom enabled and (finger) touch compatible and I think I figured this out by... trying  http://shop.lenovo.com/us/landing_pages/multitouch_technology

I have a Verizon Mobile Broadband USB760 Card which is connected to a Windows 7 Laptop. The mobile broadband device is shared with the local area connection on Internet Connection Sharing tab under properties of the mobile broadband device. The Ethernet cable is going to the WAN port of a Netgear WNR2000 wireless router. I have set the basic setting screen of the router webpage to the same ip addresses, dns servers, subnet masks, and gateway of the laptop. The ip address of the local area connection of the laptop is 169.254.25.143 and the subnet mask is 255.255.0.0. These settings are automatically acquired from the TCP/IP version 4 protocol. The WAN IP address for the router is 169.254.25.144 and the subnet mask is 255.255.0.0. The DNS server and the gateway setting of the router are both set to 169.254.25.143.

The problem that I am having is that a week ago it worked perfectly but now it does not work at all. I have not changed any settings on the router or the laptop. I have also checked to make sure the device was still shared with the local area connection. What I have noticed is that only www.google.com will load. Attempting to load another website will just say waiting for www.?.com. The ? is any websites that I attempt to load like live.com, xbox.com, yahoo.com, or facebook.com. Also, any webpage will load on the laptop which the mobile broadband device is connected to. So, I do not know if it is the Internet Connection Sharing service or the settings of the router.

you will want to check whetner there is a physical card installed. the x200 does have the card slot, but that does not mean that wwan card is installed. and even then ,its also not confirmed whether you have the wwan antennas installed. you will want to check your windows device manager and make sure you have a 3g modem listed under network adapters. if you dont, the card is unlikely to have been installed physically.

Tried w10 last February and had to go back to 8.1......bugs in all the wrong places for me and what I do.

Answer:Will w10 mobile work on my Lumia 929 , icon on the Verizon network

Welcome to the boards :)
This somewhat answers your question: The Verizon Lumia Icon can now download Windows 10 Mobile preview builds | Windows Central
Yes w10m is available for the Icon now. As for the issues; I'm not sure about those, however you could check it out on your own :)
Just make sure to download the windows devices recovery tool to your laptop/pc > connect your phone (just to be sure that it actually detects your phone).
Download the insider app to your phone and go with the release preview ring :) it has very few bugs and those builds are but a step away from being pushed to RTM.

I am looking into replacing satellite broadband (hughesnet) and want to know if this is a better alternative. Can anyone tell me if it works the way they say it will.

Answer:verizon broadband network card

Well, it works in places the service is offered. Unless it's changed recently, not all of Verizon's network offers connectivity with this card. I've used it in a couple of locations, and the speed was around 700kbits for download. Better than dial-up for sure, but I don't know if that's better than your satellite link...

So for the last few days I've been trying to learn/figure this out, and I've had no luck. My wife and I purchased two HTC Windows 8 phones that were supposed to be unlocked (through Amazon). Mine works fine without any hitches (I absolutely love it) Her's on the other hand has been nothing but trouble. Here are the problems we are experiencing. We can be sitting right next to each other and she is always on extended network or at best 3G where I will be showing 4G. Her text messages don't send out. Randomly it shows it is on "H" network (couldn't figure that one out either). We have contacted t-mobile several times and they can't seem to find anything wrong on their end. We have switched sim cards and the problem stays on her phone. We've only had the phones a little over a week, but I've found it odd that her startup screen is a Verizion screen even though we are on a T-mobile network. They have had us try to manually setup APN settings, but it does the same thing (staying on extended network and not willing to send texts). It also lacks a lot of options in settings that my phone allows for. I just don't know enough about these phones to have a clue as to what is going on. Is it a bad phone or a bad user? Any help or information would be greatly appreciated.

When i had my normal windows 8 update, everything was fine. Then i wanted to try cortana and other 8.1 improvements. Thus went for a "Preview from Developers 8.1 Version". But now my phone is slower and mobile network isn't working right.
Another thing - when connected to a wifi network all seems to be good.....
So, any solution or suggestion.....will i be able to downgrade ???

Answer:On my HTC 8x(Verizon), why has my mobile network stopped working after updating to preview for developers version?

First the bad news. You cannot downgrade as HTC hasn't released any software to help with your phone. At least the last time I checked.
One option, that you may not like, is doing a hard reset. What sometimes happens with using the DP is that it causes issues. A hard reset should take care of most things.
When you hard reset it you will still have WP8.1. You'll need to install the DP to receive further updates.
Be sure to backup before you reset.

Hi,I am a newbie to this stuff. I cannot get my mobile broadband card to work.I have an X121e which has upgradeable mobile broadband. Foolishly I did not buy this card at time of purchase. I have bought an unlocked Gobi 2000 and installed this and the sim card. I have installed the drivers and the broadband package from lenovo. The Gobi 2000 is shown under ports in device manager (windows 7 64bit) with a com3 allocation.However...in 'access connections' there is no adapter so I cannot set up a mobile broadband profile. Only the lan and wireless card are options. Windows 7 internet connections only gives me wired, wireless and modem options. Searching the internet I think this card needs to be shown as a network adapter.Ideas anyone please?

When I ordered my T410s, I chose the "upgradeable" option.  What does that exactly mean?  Does this mean that I have all the hardware already pre-installed, and I just need a SIM card and a service plan?  I noticed what appears to be a SIM card slot underneath the battery.  Should have thought ahead when I ordered the ThinkPad and had them set it up ready to go from the beginning.  Thanks.

Answer:Integrated Mobile Broadband - Upgradeable vs. Gobi 2000

Upgradable means you have the SIM slot and built-in antenna, but need to insert a WWAN mini PCI adapter like the Gobi 2000. So you have all the hardware except the WWAN adapter. The WWAN adapter is easy to insert and not that expensive to buy so it's no big deal, but if you are going to use mobile broadband you could as well have bought the Gobi 2000 instead of upgradable. You need a SIM card and a plan as well from a mobile network operator in your country. -gan

Hello everyone, I have seen similar issues as this posed numerous times, but they have rarely been resolved, and not by any means which I have not already tried, so here goes. Immediately after startup, my wireless card works fine.  After I put my computer to sleep and wake it up, however, the wireless network adapter seems to fail.  It still detects networks, but when I try to connect, it takes a long time connecting, then says that it can't.  If I wait a bit and try again, the same thing happens. This can be temporarily resolved by any of these three methods:1. Rebooting the computer.2. Troubleshooting the wireless network adapter (it resets the adapter every time, and then it works).3. Going to network and sharing centre -> adapter settings -> disable, then enable the wireless adapter. This issue is reproducible on EVERY sleep, and on ANY wireless network (i.e. it's not a router issue). Proposed solutions which I have already tried:1. Reinstalling/reverting/updating driver software.2. Changing the power management settings for the network card to not allow computer to turn the device off to save power.3. Hi I believe my W510 (4389-2SU) has a Gobi 2000 Mobile Broadband card installed but I can't tell for your sure. It's not showing up in the device manager list. I've run the Gobi 2000 driver installer and also installed Access Connections. I use ATT so I ran the Gobi coniguration utility to use the ATT image (2) which it seemed to do with no errors. I also updated the Gobi based code as suggested on the driver downloads site How can I tell whether the Gobi card is installed without opening the machine up? Thanks Mark

Answer:Checking for presence of Gobi 2000 Mobile Broadband Card

Hello mate, You don't have a WWAN modem in your machine. The 4329-2SU has just a WWAN option.

hi all, i have a small, but somewhat annoying problem with my x200 tablet.my usual setup is such that i work on the desktop computer, which is connected by cable to my laptop. after 20 (or so) minutes of inactivity the laptop's screen turns off (this is standard behavior, we all know this). however, when this happens, the laptop becomes inaccessible through the network and the network indicator is showing a red X sign, as if it weren't connected at all. after few seconds, the network comes back online, so it seems to me that the network card turns off and on again, but i have no idea how to fix this problem. same thing happens when i go from the black screen state back to the 'not idle' state (ie. i move the mouse, or press a key, and the screen is back to normal. is there any solution to this? is this happening to anyone else, too? the network driver  is in version 10.1.9.0 from 7.April 2010, according to Device Manager. thanks for any answer.

Answer:X200 Tablet network card turning off/on when screen goes black and back

Sounds like power management for sure. You can go into your control panel, and then click on device manager. From here go to the section called network adapters, and then right click on the adapter (should be intel or whatever card came with your x200). Then click on properties. A new window will open, and in this window you'll see a tap to the right called power management. Make sure the "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" is unchecked then click ok. See if that fixes your problem. Hopefully that is the issue.

I use the Three PAYG dongle for mobile broadband. I have just under 1 gb and 26 days left to run on this top up. This morning when I turned on I am only getting the blue flashing light instead of the green. The dashboard says 2G Orange with Roam. Instead of 3g or the speed broadband letters.I can just to say connect to the internet. Wont bother trying to do a speed test because I know it will be pathetic.I am within postcode TD15 2TR and have never had this problem before. Is anyone else having similar problems with Three Mobile Broadband. Can anyone please tell me how to get my green light back, a network, and some semblance of speed. Hi
Please does anyone know the command to force a Windows 7 Mobile Broadband connection to prefer 3G over GPRS if 3G available. I know many of the bespoke dialer programs have this option, but wondered if the same could be achieved with native windows 7 using
maybe netsh.
ThanksDouks

Answer:Mobile Broadband Network Preference

Hi,

Thanks for posting in Microsoft TechNet Forum.

As far as I know, Windows 7 cannot tell the difference between 3G and GPRS. This should be achieved with extra programs.

I have been considering getting rid of my BT landline and connecting to the internet via mobile broadband. Only one problem, we have 3 PCs in the house, that are currently connected to the internet via wireless network. Will we still be able to run 3 PCs from the same mobile broadband connection or will we need 3 separate dongles (if so can we get 3 dongles on one account or will we need 3 different accounts)?

Answer:Home network with mobile broadband?

Theoretically, 'Yes' you can run three PCs from a Mobile Broadband connection and the "Three" network does have a Mobile Broadband Wireless Router click here However, my experience with Three's Mobile Broadband (the only network available in my area) is that it only just provides an acceptable performance with a single computer. You could, of course, set up "Internet Connection Sharing" in one of the PCs in the same way as with any other internet connection. As every 'dongle' has its own SIM card and '07' phone number (which can send/receive text messages via the computer) a separate account would be required for each one.

I have tried to resolve this problem by editing WAN settings in the programme, but failed.  Has anyone else experienced and fixed the same problem? I wasn't sure where to ask this question, but since it kind of relates to networking, here goes. A friend of mine has Sprint mobile broadband using a USB-thingy to connect. He said he tried connecting after plugging in an ethernet cable attached to a switch or hub (not a router) and the modem would not connect. He said he got some kind of message (I don't remember the exact details). He decided to unplug the ethernet cable and try again; after that the modem worked as usual. Do these things have some kind of "feature" that won't allow them to function if a network connection is present? I tried searching for others with this problem and didn't come up with any mention of it any where.

Greetings to the forum.

Several times I have found help here "just" by reading the tutorials and forum posts. And this alone makes me in advance say and repeat thank you to the community! Yet I'm found in need of posting my own help request this time, so I reckon... (It's sort of cross-posting from another forum, which I'm aware isn't the most welcomed practice, but since we kinda got stuck for ideas there, so I thought of extending the help request here, hoping it isn't a much wrong did?... )

Summarizing the situation, it's my brother's laptop (Toshiba Satellite L500 running Windows 7 HP SP1 32-bits) which now won't connect to the internet using the mobile broadband connect pen he uses, Huawei E392. It did before, always has, yet now it just doesn't. (He had installed another connect pen, Huawei E220, "over" the installation of the E392, i.e. he didn't uninstall that one prior to installing the E220, and somehow ended up with things screwed up. Even the uninstaller for Huawei E220, don't know why, didn't work properly then, oddly removing various files that had nothing to do with the installation of that connect pen, like most of the shortcuts in the Start Menu just disappeared (!) after running it, so we could only rid of the installation of Huawei E220 with a System Restore to some point before it was installed at all. But even then, in the end now Huawei E392 won't connect to the internet.)

I don't suppose is anything wrong with the connect pen, ... Read more

Greetings: Status update: I called Lenovo technical support, and  they are having me exchange the brand new (just came in yesterday) unit with a new one.  The exchange process is interesting as you have to place a brand new order, pay for the order, then go through sales and returns to get an RMA, and they only credit back on the original order after the receipt, qa check, and 8 to 10 days later. Hopefully the exchange (new) replacement ThinkPad X200 will not have the same problem. Thank you.

I switched over yesterday from Earthlink cable to Verizon FIOS internet. Cheaper and supposedly faster, but I'm having weird connectivity issues with my x200. There's a desktop on the network, a dell laptop that connects wirelessly and the x200. Everything works fine (including the local area connection on the x200) except for the x200 wireless connection, which is just flaky and unstable - often slow loading times (sometimes not), freqent page loading errors. (Never had these problems with Earthlink cable) I booted up in safe mode with network capability and had the same problem.  Has any one had a similar experience, or can offer any advice? Since the network is otherwise working, Verizon says it's not their issue. x200model 7454 CTO11 b/g Wireless Lan Mini PCI Express Adapter III (Atheros) windows xp proVerizon FIOS router: Actiontec M1424-WR Rev. Answer:issues with intermittent wireless connectivity to Verizon FIOS with an x200

Dude, I was having the same problem. You can get it to work if you go into the TCP/IP properties for your wireless connection and hard code the IP, DNS, and WINS addresses instead of letting the computer automatically resolve them. You can get them by logging into the Verizon modem via the hardwired computer. Once you do that it works great. Also, this only seems to happen with my Lenovo R61 computer. All of my other computers connect to FIOS just fine.

Can someone confirm whether the Sierra Wireless HSDPA Network Adaptor is supplied locked or unlocked on the X60s? I'd like to try the HTC One M8, and while I know there's a T-Mobile version, there seems to be a lot more Verizon versions out there for sale.
While using the Verizon version on T mobile, I've heard that the two things that don't work are visual voicemail and MMS. Any progress made on this front? Did the new update allow anybody to change any more settings?
Also, since the Verizon and T-Mobile version (to my knowledge) are identical hardware wise, is it possible to flash the T-Mobile version on top of the Verizon one? I've read about Android users who have done just that for the exact same phone.

Answer:HTC One M8, Verizon version on T mobile?

They are not identical in terms of hardware. The cellular radios are completely different. No I would not try to cross flash them. The Vzw has CDMA radios on board and the T-Mo is GSM all the way. In Android hacking, the radio can be switched out of a ROM with some skill. I don't think this is possible with Windows Phone devices.
In addition to MMS and VVm issues, you would not get T-Mo WiFi calling or any other carrierware such as the anticipated SoftCard App. I would expect data speed discrepancies as well.

Anyone have any experience with verizon's mobile internet? Is it reliable? How are the speeds? What about in remote areas? Should we wait for WiMax, or is that far away enough that a 2yr contract won't be annoying? Or is there a 1yr contract they don't talk about?

They adverstise $59.99, but knowing telecoms there are a ton of other fees, so I'm wondering what your true monthly cost is. We are trying to compare this to the $40/mo we are currently paying for wireless hot spots.

The big question: If you get two of these wireless pc cards, can two people use the account? Of course both of you can't log in at the same time, but one at a time?

Thanks for you input!

Hi,. the particular model of my x200 is 7453-FJ9. I bought it from ebay and the seller claimed is was multi-touch. After checking on the Levono support page where you identify the machine features through the model # above, it does not mention anything about being touch capable let alone multitouch. However, since I installed a new copy of windows 7 pro 64-bit on a new hdd, after installing all of the automated lenovo and windows updates, I checked the system properties and it states 'Pen and Single Touch Input Available' as shown in my system properties screen below.

Link to picture

I have tried to use the single touch input but it does not seem to be working. I have tried calibrating touch input though the screen calibration and it has not worked. I have looked at the HCI devices in the device manager and it shows 'Wacom Penabled MiniDriver','Bluetooth Remote Control', 'HID Compliant Consumer Control Device' and several repeated entries of 'HID-compliant device' but nothing about touch input !

I don't understand what is going on, do you think this tablet has touch input available ? Should I try install the touch driver on the lenovo website ? the wacom website ? or am i just wasting my time thinking it has touch input since it is not mentioned on the 7453-FJ9 lenovo support page (that I can see). Any advice on this would be kindly appreciated..

Samsung ATIV Odyssey
Nokia Lumia 928, 822

So if somebody wants to get a job at a phone store, how much knowledge do you need on phones? Barely any or more than your think? Because a family member is looking for jobs and AT&T is hiring. She dont know much about phones, i could teach the basics, ya never know.

Answer:If you wanna work at a store like AT&T,Verizon, T-mobile, etc..

It depends on the store, but generally, they're just asking for someone who could work long hours with rather low pay (so they're incentivized to push certain products)

How is the speed/connectivity? I have a verizon cell phone here in so. cal, and I get awesome service, does it use the same network? And do you need a special card? I tried doing some googling and found out you did, but did not see where you get one, or if you get it when you sign up. Thanks for any input.

Answer:Verizon Wireless broadband

i know someone that has it.. my old boss. but i never actually used it.. back when we got it for her, it was "broadband" speeds in sandiego and washington dc only.. which was good cause the business is in dc.. she said she really likes it because she can just open her laptop basically anywhere and get online..

she has a seperate pcmia card,, i am fairly sure it is included with the service, kidna like you get certain phones for free when you sign up..

for about $30 a month you can get t-mobile.. and if you don't live in one of the areas that takes advantage of the fast verizon.. then i would just get that.. same thing,.. less money..

but it would be best to find people that have actually used either one.. and preferably both..

"All right sparky, here's the deal."

A friends laptop crashed, and he is trying to get his wireles verizon on his desktop. We have the install disk that contains the drivers and stuff, but as I installed the software, When i get to the point where it says insert the device, it is recognized as a Best Data Data fax modem. I tried to go into device manager and update driver to the Pantech modem, that was installed with the disk, but Windows keeps sayin there is not a better match for current device. When I chose I will choose the device from a list, it gives me a list of manufactures, like dell, compaq, etc. etc. but Pantech is not on there. I called Verizon but that guy was an idiot. He gave me a web site, and said sorry. Thnaks for any advice.
Oh the OS is XP Pro SP1, and the name of the modem is UM175 usb modem

Hi

While l was canceling my verizon/aol service (broadband) they told me that it was ok to cancel but l would lose all of my AOL files, e-mails etc. For me verizon broadband was a nightmare and l went to cable.

When l called AOL to question this they told me that it was nonsense that verizon is not able to do this!

What's the truth??

Thanks

Alan

Answer:verizon/aol broadband question

I would think that if you could still log on to your AOL account you should be able to access your email. However if you cancel AOL, you will lose everything that you would normally access through AOL.

To be on the safe side I would backup important emails. One way to do it is to create a text file for each email. Another thing you might want to backup is your favorites. Those you can just drag-and-drop to your desktop and then put them in the IE favorites folder.

I am considering buying a Thinkpad Tablet. Of the available models the ones that come with a 2.13GHz processor are the two X200 models (NRS93GE and NRT9RGE). As far as I can see, as opposed to the X61 models, the thinkpad X200 tablet models do *not* come with a "digitizer pen".  Can one still use them to take notes? How does one write on them?

Answer:Pen for X200 tablet?

what is a tablet without the digitizer pen... the X200 tablet do have a digitizer pen.  http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170342459868 i think there is a picture of the x200 digitizer pen in the link provided.

Question: X200 Tablet

I got a X200 Tablet Thinkpad through my old school because it was part of the requirements. And i want to reformat my thinkpad but when i bought the thinkpad, i got no OS disk with it. How can i reformat it? Any help? Thanks ;D

Answer:X200 Tablet

Which OS are you using on the X200t? There is the recovery partition on the hdd, which allows you to recover the system to the factory condition (which reinstalls the OS + driver), you can burn the recovery media from windows provided you have the usb dvd/cd burner or the ultrabase with the ultrabay dvd/cd burner.

Hi:I'm looking at purchasing the X200 tablet. I'm looking at the SL9600 offering as well as some of the other whistles and bells. What I am curious about is if there is any intention to replace the VGA port with a digital video interface such as HDMI as well as if there are any plans for a touch pad mouse. I'd hate to buy now just to have the VGA port replaced with HDMI next month. Also, I keep coming across all the different model numbers. Is there any good reference as far as the model numbers. I saw a posting here from last year with similar questions as mine and thought to get it updated.Any advisement on planned upgrades to the X200 in the near term by Lenovo would be appreciated and help me determine when to pull the trigger. Thanks

Answer:What is new with the X200 Tablet

I would wait. The X201 has been announced, so the X200 may come down in price.

Hello, I was recently given a x200 tablet and was told that the screen supported both touch and stylus input. So far however I have only managed to get a response from the stylus. I'm running windows 7, Is there something that I'm missing or does this device only support the stylus? Any in site would be very much appreciated :}

Answer:Help with x200 tablet

Hi! I would first check if you indeed have a model that supports multitouch. Please go here: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/product-and-parts/partsLookup.page You'll then need to enter your machine type, which is a 4 digit code on the bottom of the laptop. Then enter the serial number (located right from the model type, it says something like S/N xxxxxx) and you will get a list of the components installed on your X200T. Try to identify the screen and post the resuts here. My 2 cents...

Is the x200 tablet coming out in 2.13 Ghz?? I found that it said Lenovo Canada offered this... however I live in Canada and I do not see this option. I also called their Sales Rep and Technical support, and nobody was sure.... Anybody know? I love my X200 in 1.2 Ghz as of now, I can only imagine how dreamy it would be with another Ghz    http://www.gottabemobile.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/x200tablet_canada.png Message Edited by ironslave on 05-21-2009 01:00 PM

Just received an old 4GB X200 tablet with Windows 10 Pro via eBay to use for browsing.   I've found it quite fast and love the keyboard.  Old tech, but better than a lot of newer equipment.  And at $79 delivered, no way to lose, and it is very similar to my favorite T420. As it uses a 2.5" HDD, i am thinking about switching to an SSD (as I have with my T420).  I understand that the X200 uses Sata 2 and was wondering how others have found performance when doing this with an X200. I've found no problems with drivers so far, but are there more desirable ones than the Microsoft ones in Windows 10 for graphics, etc.?

I've got an x200 tablet that doesn't do so well as a tablet.I've gotten everything from the dreaded blue screen when the pen is touched to it,  to it being totally unresponsive to pen input. Everything but the tablet issue seems to work fine. Hasn't been dropped, smashed or had any liquids poured on it. Also has (had?) an obnoxious amount of antivirus/spyware/ect. software.Downloaded every driver, went back to several restore points and even took it all the way back to its out of the box state with recovery disks.Took it into the tech/repair center at my university. They had it for three weeks and didn't know what to do with it either...It's still under warranty, but even if it's not somehow covered I'd much rather pay repair costs than buy a new computer. So what the heck do I do with it now? Send it back to the company? (Really resisting the urge to set it on fire.)

Answer:x200 not being much of a tablet

Which O/S are you running?   I have an X200T (7448-CTO) and, after about 1.5 years under Vista, it started to develop severe flakiness (e.g. frequent IE and Office app crashes) although the tablet functionality was still working OK.  I finally decided to bite the bullet and  install Windows 7 fresh (not an upgrade over Vista).  The process that Win7 uses is interesting in that it places the previous (Vista) Windows directory in something called Windows.old.   It does not reformat the drive nor does it delete any other directories on C:/.  That process worked great for me (NB was/is virus free) although, in your case, I wonder if it wouldn't be smarter to relocate all of your documents and settings (e.g. favorites, contacts) to another storage medium and, quite literally, reformat the entire hard drive before installing a new O/S.  After Win7 has completed, install the Lenovo ThinkVantage Toolbox and it will perform all of the driver upgrades which, in my case, went near flawlessly.   All of my peripheral worked right away including the tablet functionality.  I did have to recalibrate the pen/tablet and work through the handwriting recognition training, but those tasks are only tedious, not difficult.  The only small issue I had, initially, was a SmartAudio driver error which, somehow, fixed itself.    I know that some people have reported issues with Win7/Thinkpad compatibility, but I can only report a comp... Question: X200 Tablet

Our company recently bought over 100 of the above. Lately we have noticed the mainboards have gone on several of them. Usually receive BIOS beeps indicating the video. Was just wondering whether others have had the same experience?

Answer:X200 Tablet

Assuming the specimens that failed were distributed across a broad range of users that weren't  in the vicinity of the same EMP then the law of quantities and percentages seems particularly visccious in this case. We purchase in lots of 25 and just sourced 75 hingers and 75 tablets and of varying Type's and didn't have a single DoA nor failure in the last  month. The reason we keep buying the most expensive laptop made is we know the quality can be assumed and the service can be assured, if you're geting bad service for any reason than expect swarms of assistance from the mod employees here determined to rectify your issues and ensure you choose Thinkpad for your next round of gear.

I'm in the market for a new notebook, and I've really become enamored with the X200 tablet. Well, actually it was the X301 that first caught my eye, but it's just not fully-featured enough for me. Too bad, as I really liked the weight and the WXGA+ on a 13.3" display. Anyway, I'm a Windows applications developer, and I'm trying to determine the X200 tablet's suitability for my needs. As a programmer, I can always make use of additional display resolution, but I've simulated some WXGA screenshots on a 12.1" display, and I'm thinking it could work for me. I'd appreciate it if others could chime in here with what they use their own X200 tablet for on a regular basis and how well it performs and displays those tasks. Thanks.

Answer:What do you use your X200 tablet for?

Hi Rich, I use my X200 Tablet for everything and cannot say enough good things about it. I wear many hats right now Director of IT, Student, and believe or not I take it to church. I take my tablet everywhere! Currently I'm taken a Marketing class and DB design class and use it for notes and for MS Access running on windows 7 BETA. I have owned the all the X series tablets since the x41 which still run. Some of the problems I run into with DB design is the smaller screen but really it is not a huge factor because I'm in class when I'm at work I use the dock with 24" widescreen. I take my tablet to meetings, give presentations, and use it in place on my desktop. The only thing I would caution against is the process power for your type of development. For example it does not encode video as fast as a desktop but it can do it better than other notebooks in it's class. If you need speed and screen size try the W700 series with WACOM digitizer pad.  What I like most about the X series tablets is it's lightweight portability, performance, wireless options, and durability. I have download 50 eBooks, several text books, and read the electronic versions of eweek and love the annotate on them. If fact my wife makes fun me when I take it to the bathroom for reading materials. I can say that the tablet has changed the way I function in daily life. My wife is a Direct of IT as well and I finally got her to use a tablet with the same results.  The la... Read more

I'm looking to buy an X200 tablet for school this fall, but I'm curious about the Trusted Platform Module (TPM).  I'm not a big fan of having TPM on my personal use equipment, thought I do see the advantages in a managed IT infrastructure.  According to the maintenance manual there are motherboards available both with and without the "security chip"/TPM feature, but purchasing one separately is a joke (US$1,400 or more) considering the cost of the base unit itself.  When customizing a unit on the Lenovo store there is no option for purchasing without a TPM.  The tacover.pmd document lists the TPM as being integrated into the ICH9M chip, which is the reason for needing a whole separate motherboard to get a unit without a TPM. Long story short, is it possible to have Lenovo build me a unit with a non-TPM motherboard? Thanks in advance.

Answer:X200 tablet available without TPM?

you can switch off the feature in the BIOS, it would probably cost the same regardless.... but unless you have a large order of some sort, these sort of things are not negotiable on a single build basis.

Question: X200 Tablet Help

Hi. I am having troubles with my lenovo x200 tablet running windows 7 32-bit.Last night it was working fine but this morning i turned it on and went into windows but i cannot log on because it goes to sleep automatically every 5 seconds or so. The 4 indicator lights are also flashing instead of staying still like the wireless and bluetooth indicator light if that makes a difference. Help is appreciated. Thank you in advance =)

Answer:X200 Tablet Help

It sounds like the notebook is low in power, either the battery has no charge or is not holding charge (old/defective). If it's plugged in  AC outlet already, then possibly computer hardware issue. Please refer to page 23 in the "Service and Troubleshooting Guide". You might need to have your unit serviced.
