Tablet buttons stop working in tablet mode only

Question: Tablet buttons stop working in tablet mode only

Hey all, I have a weird problem. My tablet buttons have stopped working-- but only in tablet mode. That is, I can't rotate, or bring up the tablet shortcuts, or move around the screen in tablet mode. Also autorotate doesn't work. But if I switch out of tablet mode, I can do all of these things just fine (except for autorotate). Also, when I switch into tablet mode the screen doesnt rotate or anything, but when I switch out of tablet mode the screen rotates to the direction I defined in the settings (sometimes.. to be honest it seems pretty random to me). I am running 32 bit vista w/ 4 gb ram on an x61 tablet with the latest drivers. I have uninstalled the tablet button drivers and the lenovo system interface and reinstalled them already.. I have the latest APS. Help me out here.. I have no idea why this isn't working! Don't make me have to reinstall vista to get the buttons working.. Tha'ts ridiculous!! Arrrgh.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

You have to get into Tablet shortcut menu setting and do it all first. For the rest, uninstalled all ThinkPad Tablet Button Driver, ThinkPad Tablet shortcut menu then restar and reinstall vis System Update. Just let it find for you; that's the only thing I could recommend for this case.

Posting this as a solution, since I couldn't find one anywhere online... My auto-rotate and tablet buttons were working just fine one minute, then completely quit the next.  I didn't install anything new, I didn't update any drivers; I still don't know why it stopped working.   Anyhow, after trying numerous reinstalls of tablet utilities, tablet buttons, etc, the culprit turned out to be the Tablet Shortcut Menu (http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-67219) Hope this helps some other frustrated googler -Topher

I have upgraded my X201 Tablet to Windows 10 32bit. As far as I can tell, everything is working, including the WACOM drivers and touchscreen.  Wireless has worked perfectly so far, not sure about Bluetooth as I don't use it. My only issue is that the buttons on the display do not work. The power button located on the display does work. I tried installing the Tablet Button Driver II and it will go through the install but the buttons do not work.  This is the download link:http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds027627 The document claims Windows 10 compatability and was Last Updated :08 Jun 2015. On inspection, all the files extracted are dated from 2012 and when trying to manually run the software Windows throws up an error that the software is not supported on this PC.   I removed and reinstalled and noted that the driver information page when running the installer does NOT have Windows 10 listed as a supported system. My assumption is that the driver that they have linked on the download page is NOT the most current driver and is infact the driver for Windows 7 from 2012. Does anyone know how to contact Lenovo to get the correct driver posted to the page, or know of an alternate source to try and find it?

Hi all, I have recently upgraded to windows 7 (64bit) and now when I  put my tablet into tablet mode, the screen doesn't autorotate and none of the tablet buttons work. In order to rotate the screen I have to right click on the desktop and choose graphic properties/rotation.Interestingly if I press the tablet buttons while in tablet mode and then rotate the screen up to notepad mode within a few seconds the button will perform its function (rotate screen, activate tablet shortcut menu, etc). Does anyone know how to fix this problem? I've tried running system update (4.0) to no avail. Cheers

Even when I pull up the short cut menu in ThinkVantage it shows them as enabled. The only button that works is the power button. My unit came with Vista but my tech department reverted to XP with the accomanying disc. Any ideas for me? Thanks.

Hello, I recently bought an X61 tablet, and I'm loving it! However, I would like to know if there is a way to customise the function of the tablet buttons. For instance, I never use  the "ctrl+alt+del" button, and I would prefer if I could set it to some other function, like emulating the CTRL key. I've tried doing a search on the forums, but I can't seem to find anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Best regards,M. J. Sklarproud x61t owner

To modify the Tablet Button settings go here: Start > Settings > Control Panel > Tablet and Pen Settings > Tablet Buttons Highlight the button you want to change and click on the Change button or double click on the button you want to change, which will take you to a dialog box providing some options to read your keyboard actions.

The learning curve on this machine is steep if you want to take advantage of all the input options but I've put the time in and I'm starting to love it. There is one thing I wish Lenovo would address though. I see plenty of ThinkPad users with this problem going back to at least 2008, and no solutions forthcoming. The manual states: "On the display bezel near the screen is a row of buttons with which you can control your computer in the tablet mode, without the use of the keyboard."By default the buttons are set to turn your computer off, press CTRL+ALT+DEL, or rotate the screen 90 degrees. The manual goes on to describe how you can customize these buttons via the Tablet Shorcut Menu, which is accessed via Start > Programs > Lenovo ThinkVantage Tools > Tablet Utility. If you open this program you get a dialog box titled "Auto Screen Rotation Settings." This dialog controls what orientation the screen should switch to when you convert into tablet. So it really doesn't have anything to do with the buttons. The only dialog that allows any assignment of the tablet buttons is Windows Control Panel > Tablet PC Settings. Here the Buttons tab is supposed to list the actual buttons on the front panel and let you assign them, but the only one shown is the Screen Rotation button. This works fine, you can set the button's function for a single press and a long press. (Too bad it's not possible to use Shift by itself, but that is as-designed by MS.)It should go without sayi... Please help me start a petition to microsoft to make/or at least give as an option to make the taskbar on tablet mode mimic windows mobile BACK, HOME , CORTANA on screen buttons. it should not clutter with more info and buttons like task view and the time and date info. that would be the most elegant and consistent way of making the tablet view be uniform with mobile. autohide feature should also be an option. i believe that the hallmark of mobile apps is being on full screen mode. watching movies with taskbar at the bottom is so distracting. if windows central agrees with me, please help me send this feedback. thank you

Hi chulo,

Welcome to Lenovo Forums.

Could you try to go to the following site to install the following if you haven't done so. I understand you mentioned that you have install the tablet buttons drivers however have you tried the Hotkey utility? If you have not, you can download via the link below "Hotkey Utility". If it does not help, can you try to download the ThinkVantage System Update (TVSU) for Windows 7 and use the software to find if there are any missing drivers.

Hi there, I hope someone can answer me a little querstion. I recently bought a x61 tablet and am really happy with it. Although I could be much happier If someone could help me with the following problem. I use Photoshop often, very often and for that reason I use the shift key a lot. In order for me to use it in tablet mode however I always have ot open the lid enough for my hand. I tried to map the tablet pc buttons in the control panel but it doesn't let me. I can map ctrl and alt and all of those but not shift. Is there some secret way to map the shift key? Or do I have to use some loophole and remap one of my normal keys. I hope someone can help me or at least tell me there is no way to do it. It would be greatly appretiated. Thanks in advance Pix (Short for Phoenix )

Answer:x61 tablet - How to map Shift key to tablet buttons?

I don't really have a direct solution for this since I want to customize them as Ctrl, Shift, all kind of this as well. However, there is a workaround that I found it's really good. What you have to have is "Mouse"  wired or wireless doesn't matter. Though I do recommend you to use wireless and Logitech as a brand. The reason why I recommend Logitech is because they have real nice SetPoint program which allows you to customize every buttons on your mouse. Then just map one of them as "shift" It works perfectly.. One hand with pen and another on mouse. I think Razer and Microsoft are another brand I know which have this feature in their software.

Hey Zebra, I recently had an rtfm moment with this issue.  I had installed and reinstalled the Tablet Button Drivers... or so I thought.   Checkout the readme for the driver.  After you double click the .exe, it looks as if it installs, but all that does is extract the files to a folder on the HD.   Probably here C:\DRIVERS\WIN\TBBTN unless you changed it.  Go there and click setup.exe.... you'll have to reboot when it is done.  HTH

All worked fine for about a month.  Now, none of my tablet buttons work.  I don't get any error message.  They simply do nothing.  I've rebooted with no response.  I can't find any place to enable/disable, in case I did that by accident. The only change I can think of that may have coincided was to reinstall the fingerprint software (what came with this didn't work). It does re-orient itself when I rotate the screen into "tablet mode". I am running Windows XP. Any ideas?

I have a Cherry Mobile Alpha Morph that works without problems aside from the fact that, when I undock it from the keyboard, it doesn't detect that it should now be in Tablet Mode. I have to manually go to the Action Center and toggle it there. Same with docking it back. I have already checked my settings and I didn't disable Tablet Mode either.

Anyone have an idea how I can resolve this? I just want to seamlessly dock and undock the tablet and it should switch to tablet or desktop mode respectively.

I don't know if it's relevant but the OS is Windows 10 Home Single Language.

[UPDATE]ahahahahhahaI just found the solution xD It's so **bleep** stupid that it makes me feel stupid! All you need to do is to open the driver folder (default directory "C:\DRIVERS\WIN\UNAVUTIL") then right click on "wstbtnib.inf" and press Install and restart. That's it! It looks like the setup can't do it by it self under windows 8.I can't believe nobody never tried it! Hi all,    I have a really annoying problem...my x220 tablet disconnects from the internet whenever I enter tablet mode. The internet can be working perfectly fine while in non tablet mode but as soon as I switch to tablet mode, my internet disconnects. And if I switch back to non tablet mode from tablet mode, my internet returns almost instantaneously. I can load a page in non tablet mode with no problems, switch to tablet mode and the page stops loading. If I return back to non tablet mode the page resumes loading without so much as a pause or a hiccup. Also, when I switch the computer to tablet mode, wifi networks disappear off of the "available networks" list that were there before the switch.     I've tried everything, from updating network device drivers, reinstalling network device drivers, running diagnostics, reformatting my computer, uninstalling Norton Antivirus, system restoring to days before the last known working date in normal mode and safe mode, and contacting customer support (chat and call, managed to get a hold of a rep) but none of them have worked.    I also used to have a networking log before I reformatted/system reset to factory settings and there were a ton of errors with words like avsc manager failed to "something" ... Well, I've finally had it. I've had my 6365 CTO X60 tablet pc for over a year now and last Monday I lost pen functionality in tablet pc mode in the afternoon after working fine in the morning. It works fine, even now after rotating the screen back to laptop mode. As soon as the screen is rotated back to tablet pc mode, no pen functionality but the mouse still works fine so I know it's functional in laptop mode but rotate back, all ok!  I did uninstall the Wacom drivers, restart, and then downloaded the tablet pc, windows xp version drivers from the wacom.com site as instructed in a previous post. Unfortunately, the digitizer pen is still disabled in tablet pc mode and works fine when rotated back to laptop mode. I've called Lenovo tech support in Atlanta four times now and they've been totally useless. I wiped out my X60 tablet last Friday and used Rescue and Recovery to reinstall the operating system back to it's factory settings. I went back and unistalled and reinstalled the Wacom driver. Nothing. Since that didn't work either I've requested the box to ship this back to the Memphis Depot. Hopefully, I'll just get a new replacement machine that works but I'm so angry and frustrated w/ Lenovo's support because it's obvious that the people on the phone are not tech specialists and they couldn't even point me in a direction to get this fixed. It's cost me over a week now wo... Answer:X60 tablet pc digitizer pen functionality disabled in tablet pc mode

Problem solved! While the support folks weren't able to fix the problem over the phone, they did overnite me a prepaid return box which I sent back that day. Two days later they overnited my X60 tablet back fixed with a note saying 'LCD enabled'. I'm impressed how quickly they got my tablet pc back up and running. I'm glad I got that 3-yr. support warranty because I usually opt out of those things. This totally paid for itself. I just wish I hadn't been so reluctant to send back my laptop because I do need it for work and I figured I wouldn't get it back for at least a week or longer. I was so frustrated and pessimistic that I forgot sometimes these problems do get fixed in a very satisfactory manner. It's too bad the initial steps that led to sending it back were so painful. Bottom line: Lenovo fixed my pc quickly, no questions asked. Thanks!

I have installed win7 64 bit ("fresh install" on my M750-129) and i have also downloaded and installed all the newest drivers from toshiba website.
the device manager shows no problem / drivers needed, and trhings like HDD protection work well.

However, i have four groups of problems i would love and appreciate to find answer:

1) when i change the screen position to tablet, it does not change the orientation nor the resolution.
There is no utility to set the desired orientations of screen as it was in vista (horribly unstable and slow OS, though).
This, naturally, is diminishing the usefullness of the tablet finction

2) the buttons do not work properly; the screen rotation button starts excel (!!) , the centre of mobility button starts word (!!), and the toshiba assistance button does not work at all

3) fingerprints: the fingerprint utility lets me to screen my fingerprint, asks if it should save it, and than says "saving impossible; another duplicate pattern exists" which i completely do not understand what it means...

4) some applications are not available at all after fresh install: face recognition, DVD player, bussines card screener - but i can love without those; 1-3 worries me much much more and i would appreciate any functional help. thanx on advance for any try!

I didn?t find the Tablet PC Extension Package for Win 7 but there is an package for Win Vista.

Usually many tools and drivers which were released for Vista would work with Win 7.
So in my opinion you should try to install additionally this Tablet PC Extension Package.
I think this should solve the issue with the buttons too!

Regarding the fingerprint;
I think the message means that an fingerprint was already registered and therefore an second save is not possible.
Check if you can delete other fingerprints?

I have a new X220 Tablet, and the Pen and Tablet functions work perfectly out of the box as long as the unit is on the Ultrabase. As soon as I remove from the Ultrabase (or boot while not connected), the Pen & Tablet functions stop working. Conversely, if I dock the X220, the Pen & Tablet functions begin working again. The behavior is the same regardless of whether I have an external monitor attached or not. Any thoughts?

My Tablet mode and touch screen are not working for this product. I tried using it for the first time today and have not been able to find any information about how to troubleshoot this problem on my own. One of the reasons I bought this laptop is because it was supposed to be touch screen as well. The salesman showed me the same laptop on display the NoteBook 15 and turned the tablet mode on and was able to use the touch screen and pull up a touch keyboard. Once I turn tablet mode on I can find the touch keyboard and use my mouse to pull it up but the tocuhscreen itself is not working. Anything I can do?

When I flip over my lenovo chromebook the screen doesn't flip and the on-screen keyboard doesn't show up. I can manually flip the screen in settings, etc., but I really shoudn't have to, and it was definitely working yesterday. I've tried fiddling around with settings, but there really isnt anything about this in there. What do I do to fix this?

Answer:Tablet Mode Not Working

Sorry, no answer to your problem. I have exactly the problem with my Lenovo Chromebook. It also appeared at the same date 04-16-2017. Some bug in update maybe? I also "powerwashed" the chromebook and even changed the user, but nothing helps. As if there is some mechanical thing which prevents the computer understanding when the screen flips. This I'm quite sure can't be the case since the chromebook is relatively new and nothing violent has happened with it.

Hi! I tried searching to see if this was already covered and didn't find anything, but maybe it is and I didn't see it. So my Y70 touch screen isn't working, which I enjoy using cause this thing is huge and it's faster with some things. Tablet mode is on, I have Windows 10, it was working a week or so ago. I've finally had time to investigate today. What would cause this to happen? Could updates have installed and done something strange? Thank you!

I have read numerous discussions about the X61 pen and how it randomly stops working. I have the same problem with my new X200 Tablet running Visa x64. I have read about two possible solutions. The first was to restart the Wacom Dual Touch drivers. The second was to install drivers directly from Wacom.  The first solution did not work for me, only a full reboot gets the stylus working again. I would like to try the second solution, but I need to know the X200 specific drivers to download from Wacom. Any more solutions from Lenovo or the community is greatly appreciated. Was this problem fully resolved for the X61 tablet or did it carry over to the X200 line? Thanks for your help.

Answer:X200 Tablet Pen / Stylus Stop Working Randomly

The stylus and touch feature of my x200 tablet periodically stops working.  My operating system is Fedora 10.  The only solution I have found is to reboot.  Simply restarting X windows does not do the trick.  Is there some reset command I could run or some other fix?  Is anyone else having similar problems?

I have a brand new Lenovo Z500 laptop with Windows 7. After installing the drivers for my Genius MousePen 8x6 tablet the keyboard becomes unresponsive. I got the latest driver from the Genius website and the tablet works fine but the keyboard is as if dead. I tried re-installing the keyboard drivers and the chipset drivers, it didn't help. When I uninstall the tablet driver the keyboard starts functioning again.  Please help!

Answer:Tablet driver makes my keyboard stop working

Hi, thanks for all the help...Anyways, I found the problem. It's the Synaptics Touchpad driver that's causing the keyboard to malfunction. I tried installing a driver for a different tablet brand and same thing happened. So, it's the Lenovo driver, it should get fixed.

First time user here, So I bought a Thinkpad X61 tablet online with Windows 10 (64-bit) installed. I tried installing multitouch drivers from the support page and Wacom's site, rebooted so many times after installing them but to no avail. Using the stylus nor the buttons on the monitor aren't working. Then, I uninstalled them. Do I have to downgrade to Windows 7 in order for it to work? Or what else should I do to get the touchscreen working?

Answer:X61T - Tablet mode not working?

There won't be Lenovo drivers for windows 10, so you are sort-of on your own with that model.  Are you saying that the stylus isn't sensed or that the screen doesn't rotate?

@Enginestechie?, Thanks for posting back.  I understand the frustration.  However the notebook was designed with an operating system in mind and when you upgrade to another OS there are always bumps in the road and this has been the case for ever.  Keep an eye on the hp support site for updates and releases for Windows 10. Thanks again for the post and have a great day.

Hi guys, So basically I started fresh installation on windows 10, and when I tried to pull out the tablet because this is a detachable ultrabook the tablet mode didnt went ON so here's what I already tried: Rotation Lock: ON/OFF;When i sign-in into windows-->Use the appropriate mode for my hardware; When i this device automatically switches tablet mode on/off-->don't ask and always switch;Show visual feedback when i touch the screen ON/OFF.It just continues not to work, so I thought that the intel integrated sensor solution driver would work, but it happens I don't find the one for this specific model which by the way is from Portugal,   Cheers, Alexandre Santos     Windows 10 Insider / Android Rom Tester

I have a toshiba convertible laptop, I was using it in both laptop mode and tablet mode. Suddenly after converting from tablet mode to laptop mode the keyboard and touch pad stopped working in windows. The keyboard is functional and working in bios I am able to change the options in bios but when it comes to windows only the function keys are working to change the system settings. The touch pad is also having the same issue.

Answer:Keyboard and touch pad not working after using as tablet mode

Sounds like a driver issue or accessibility that the touch on-screen keyboard got screwed up. Can you get to a restore point by using a USB keyboard and mouse with it? Toshiba has their own drivers for the Synaptics Touchpad, same as their Function keys. I always went with non-UEFI on the Toshiba laptop my wife has. Always had issues with Toshiba's drivers and UEFI mode.

The only other thing is maybe roll back to a System Restore point before this occurred. Also do you make a regular system backup for the unit?

Hello, I have a problem with my Spectre X360 laptop. Exact model 13-4109no. If I fold the screen to tent or tablet mode, nothing happens. Tablet mode will not be enabled and keyboard will not turn off, which basically makes the mode completely unusable. Also if I manually activate tablet mode screen will not rotate and keyboard still stays enabled. I have tried to install latest drivers a few times, didn't do anything good. BIOS is also the latest version. So, any suggestions? Thanks!

HI!I just got new Lenovo yoga 710 but when I turn it to tablet mode at 360 degrees the screen goes black. So to around 350 degrees works normal, but if I put it to 360, the screen goes black. Do you have any solution? Maja

Answer:yoga 710 tablet mode not working at 360 degrees

Hello Maja1Thanks for using the Lenovo forums. As this only happens when the unit is flipped to tablet mode, it seems to be that there will be an issue with the connection on the unit.

Try to download the Video and Chipset drivers for the unit from the support page.

Make sure to reboot after an update on the unit.
Also, Try a static discharge for this, it may help to resolve the issue or at least get rid of any built up static on the motherboard.(If the battery is internal, please just skip the remove/replace battery steps.)1. Turn the unit off2. Remove the battery and the Mains adapter3. Press and hold the front power button for 30 seconds4. Replace the battery and the Mains adapter5. Turn the unit on as normal

Hope this helps, let us know how you get on.==================================================================================Did someone help you today? Thank them with a Kudo! If you find a post helpful and it answers your question, please mark it as an "Accepted Solution"!

Hey guys, I'm currently setting up a brand new Asus ZenBook Flip 2in1 with the newest build of the creators update installed. Everything went fine including the automatic switching between Tablet and Desktop modes until just now. I set up the laptop in this chronology:
1. Installed x86 programs - Continuum is still working
2. Installed store applications - Continuum is still working
3. Went through all the setting pages one by one - Continuum stops working
Under the Tablet mode setting page no matter which option I choose (switch automatically without asking, always ask etc.), I don't get any response. When I flip over the display, the machine stays in desktop mode. Changing over to tablet mode manually works as expected though. Thanks in advance for any advice. My guess currently is that this is a bug with the creators update itself but I doubt know.
Cheers

Got an inspiron 13 7000 yesterday and trying to use for first time.  When switching to tablet mode, the virtural/on-screen keyboard cannot be selected for use.  It is available in laptop mode (when I don't need it because of the large keyboard in front of me), but not table.

So, I called tech support and was told it was outside of regular tech and they'd transfer me to software tech.  They said there is normally a fee for this support, but since the computer is brand new, there would be not charge.  Software tech refused to help me unless I paid and they transferred me back to hardware tech who put me on hold, then hung up on me.

Wow, nice support on a brand new product!  They want me to pay to get their defective product to work?  I guess it would be cheaper for them to pay for a return shipping label, give me a full refund and sell this as a refurb at half of what they sold it to me for then for them to actually spend a few minutes on the phone trying to help.

Before I return this and buy another brand, does anyone know how to get the on-screen keyboard to work on tablet mode?

When the screen flips back the keyboard remains active and the laptop doesn't seem to detect that the screen has been flipped. The lock rotation button is greyed out in both display settings and quick settings. In my regedit the rotation is set to 0 and I have tried to switch it back to 1 but every time I restart it just goes back to 0. I have booted my windows back through a system recovery drive I got from HP but the problem still persists. If anyone could help me with this problem I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

You could only use the on screen keyboard.  Suddenly the display went into tablet mode and  you could not change the mode back.  You have tried a total reset and installed any driver updates, but the issue remains. Have you ran the HP Support Assistant?  Have you ran the Windows troubleshooter? Would you check this setting. Click the Windows button (lower left corner)Clcik on  settingsClick on  system to  open it.In the left pane of the screen, scroll down to the bottom until you see "Tablet Mode"Verify that  it is set to off. Please let me know the outcome. Best of Luck and Happy Holidays!

Does anyone know how to turn on the automatic desktop/tablet mode switching?

I run W10, the official release, on a Surface Pro 3 with a keyboard cover. Up to now, when I detach the keyboard I get asked if I want to switch to tablet mode, and when I attach the keyboard desktop mode has been automatically restored. I really like how W10 separates the two modes, instead off like W8/8.1 trying to be in both modes simultaneously.

But suddenly this does not happen. When the keyboard is detached, I do not get any question about enabling tablet mode and the Surface stays in desktop mode. If I manually switch to tablet mode, when I attach the keyboard the machine stays in tablet mode until manually disable it.

I have not changed any settings related to this, not deliberately at least.

I have looked at the tutorial on tablet mode in this forum, but it says nothing about automatic switching. I have checked the available settings but cannot see that there is any setting determining automatic mode switch, other than the "Always/never ask me before switching" (which is set to always).

Wanting to know if others have this problem? If I use the tablet for a short period of time (1hr) in "Tablet mode" the cursor returns and the trackpoint works fine. However if I use it for say 3-4hrs in "tablet mode" and go back to the regular laptop configuration the cursor is missing and the trackpoint will not respond!!! All keyboard keys function without problem (left and right mouse buttons are non-operational as well). Doing a system log-off and login back in will not solve the issue. I have to do a reboot for it to start working again. Trackpoint driver version 4.71.0.0 is installed. Running Windows7 Pro 64.

I have a problem where the digitizer pen interittently stops working on the yoga S1 - win8.1 x64 with all updates applied.I can re-create the issue by folding the screen from normal mode to  tablet mode, then normal mode , then tablet mode. At this point, the pen susually stops working. I can get it to come back to life sometimes if i wait a minute, or if i go to power settings and apply / un apply something or by restart. It sounds like a driver issue to me - and possiby power management drivers - triggered by swithcing to tablet mode.I have tried max perfromance, min power savings etc to stop the screen driver being starved of power, have disabled sleep and hibernation. Done multiple driver re-installs, but no difference. Sometimes restarting the drivers relating to the pen and touch screen bring it back to life. But it should not die in the first place. Anyone else have this or do i have a hardware issue?

Answer:Tablet buttons

Not sure why you would downgrade... If it isnt XP tablet, then you may not have those options. In anycase, I have vista so this may not be the same. First I would check the Tablet PC Settings my control panel. There is a tab for buttons, see if this is available. I would check window features and make sure your tablet pc components are checked. Again this would only be available in vista or xp tablet. I would also make sure you have the xp drivers not the vista drivers. I havent checked to see if there is a difference, but it is an idea. Hope this helps.

The Lenovo tablet button utility allows to assign the tablet buttons 3-5 (the display rotation button, the forth one (what symbol is that?) and the one with the lock symbol). But what about the first two? How/where can one change these? Right now the power button triggers a hibernation, but I would prefer if it would switch the system to suspend mode, instead. The second one - when pressed long - produces the equivalent of CTRL-ALT-DEL (which is fine), but can't one assign a short press to something else (e.g. ESC)? Why are these two buttons not listed in the tablet button configuration utility? Michael

Answer:How to (re-)assign the first two tablet buttons?

You can change what the power button does in Power Manager. For the next two buttons, I would like to know myself how it could be done.

Hello Hansenc!

Welcome to the support forums! I definitely understand your button frustration. How long have you been having this issue? I am not sure what OS you are using, but  I took a look at your X201 Tablet Driver Matrix, under Mouse and Keyboard you should find ThinkPad Tablet Button Driver II. Try installing this to see if it makes a difference.

I find the ThinkVantage System Update tool to be easier than reviewing the driver matrix to verify that my machine is uptodate. Might be helpful for you too.

Hello, I bought a new x201T,  and I have a problem to configure the first button's function. (The button placed near the power on\off button in tablet mode). I had a X60T in which it is possible to configure all buttons (including the arrows). On the X201T, in the "tablet and pen settings" in the control panel, it is only possible to configure three of the buttons. Is there a way to configure the rest of the buttons?  Thanks in advance,George.

Because I was planning to upgrade my hard drive I immediately also installed Windows 7.Everything turned out fine except 2 things.:The tablet buttons on the bottom of the display don't work. I tried installing and reinstalling the Button driver (Click here for driver I used.) but it will not install properly because the buttons still don't work. I have a feeling I need another extra piece of software but I don't know which. The finger print software will start up after I logged in with my fingerprint. Hey guys. I don't know what happened to my display, but once I reinstalled Windows 10, the display (under Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Pen and Touch -> Display tab -> Display Options -> Display drop-down box) only shows that I have a mobile pc display. But I know that is not correct. And what's worse is that the tablet buttons are not installed in my system. Those two exact problems might be why only the right side of my touch screen is working. I already have the correct driver for my touchscreen laptop so I'm CERTAIN that's not the problem. Can someone (anyone!) help me with solving the first problem and redirect me toward the tablet buttons I need for my Lenovo B50-30 Touch in order to solve the second? I want my full functionality back on my laptop. Thank you very much. Sincerely, organanon

Good morning.  I have an X61 Tablet series 7764 with Vista Ultimate whose Mute, Volume increase, Volume decrease, Page Forward and Page Back buttons do not function.  All other keyboard keys work normally.  All drivers were updated to the latest as of yesterday.  Any ideas? Thanks,Drew

Answer:X61 Tablet Hardware Buttons Inop

Hey there DrewB,

To gain better clarification around your issue, when did it start occurring, before or after the driver updates?

Drivers that may have some impact on this:
Hotkey Features Integration - 3.81.0100
SoundMax Audio Software - 6.10.1.7255/6.10.2.7255

If you will, check these drivers and see if they match your versions. If they do, it may be prudent to try a rollback to see if the new driver itself is causing the issue. Thanks DrewB, I look forward to hearing back from you!

I just did a clean install of Windows 7 64bit and was wondering how I can enable the autorotate function. I also installed the tablet button drivers, but only two of the three buttons work. the button wih the grey circle in it seems to have no function. Does anyone know what I have to install to enable the autorotate and all the tablet buttons?

Answer:x220t - question regarding autorotate and tablet buttons

I'm fairly certain autorotate requires the active protection system (it did for the x61t).

I just installed version 7.0.2.29 of the Multitouch driver. I had previously switched the mouse buttons on my keyboard due to a combination of left-handedness and a partially broken left-click key. After I restarted, tapping with the pen registers as a right-click instead of a left.  When I switch the mouse buttons back, the problem fixes itself. I'd like to be able to keep my buttons switched and also use the pen but I don't see any options that would let me do that. I'm using XP if that helps at all. Edit: I'm apparently having more trouble. If I try to go into Wacom's 'Pen Tablet Properties' in the control panel or calibrate in the default 'Tablet and Pen Settings' it tells me a supported tablet could not be found.

Does the Fingerprint Reader for the X200 Tablet have a driver for Windows 7?  I tried installing it manually and got an error that says it's only for Windows Vista, and upon using the System Update 4, it does not include the Fingerprint driver either. Also, the Tablet Buttons do not work ever since I switched to W7 either.  I have installed every update I can find through System Update and the site, and those that will not install say they are only for Vista.  The Tablet Buttons are a big issue, they are very useful and very essential to working in Tablet Mode.  I don't care as much about the Fingerprint Reader, I can get over that, but the Tablet Buttons are very useful. Are they working on a driver for them or something, or should I just give up on them?  I really liked using them when I was in Vista. Any information would be great.

I was having problems with getting the tablet buttons on my x200 tablet to work on Windows 7 32-bit using the current drivers--I found this beta driver which fixed the problem: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/WIN7-BETA.html#tbx200

I purchased an X61 tablet in March of this year, and about a week after I bought it the digitizer stopped working - it was recognized only as 'unknown device' and the vista device manager showed the error message "error 10 -device will not start".  I tried a bunch of different solutions (restart, reinstall drivers, install different driver software from Wacom and Lenovo, reinstall windows, use a Linux liveCD, etc) and finally concluded that there was no fixing the problem with software. I'm still under warranty, so I took the system in to a local warranty center, and a week later I have a working computer.  Fast forward five days, and I've got the same problem - the digitizer failed for no discernable reason.  I have had no difficulties or problems with any other part of the system at all. Am I going to need to have this computer in the shop half the time to keep it working as a tablet?  Does anyone else have this sort of problem?  I want to take my system with me when I travel, but I'm worried now whether it will be reliable enough to be worthwile.

Does anyone know how to turn off the notifications that pop up in the upper right corner telling you that you have just changed from one configuration to another -- e.g. changing from tent mode to tablet mode?

Solved!

Answer:Yoga 2 Pro -- how to turn off switching mode notifications -- e.g. "tent mode", "tablet mode", etc?

It's not enough to uninstall the Modern app "Yoga Picks", you also have to uninstall the desktop one by going to the desktop Control Panel > Programs and Features > Uninstall A Program > Yoga Picks > Uninstall.

Hello,

I have the problem "Tablet buttons are not installed on this computer"
I have connected a drawing tablet but cannot access the tablet settings due to this.

I am not sure which driver I need to install, can anyone help me please?

Thank you.

Answer:Satellite L670-12J - Need to install tablet buttons on laptop

To be honest i think this isn?t Toshiba related issue.

I mean the notebook Satellite L670-12J seems to be working properly and you?ve got only an problem with the installation of an 3rd party drawing device.

In my opinion you should check the tablet manufacturer support page how to get such device working.

Maybe you need install some software/driver which is provided by the tablet developer?

Check it!
