I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Issue since moving from IE9 to IE11 in the office

I've changed the Language Preference on IE11 to add both of them, English by default
Microsoft Office is already set to use both language

Although using Internet Explorer, we are having an issue where it only seem to spell check one language, giving errors when typing words in the other language.

Read on the internet some people that added both language in the keyboard layout, but that's not an interesting solution because first the French keyboard layout does all the English keys and second people tend to accidentaly switch language while typing
using shortcut or whatever

Any help regarding this issue would be appreciated

Thanks

Hi all,Just bought a X240 unit in october, as I have owned an IBM T41P, a Lenovo X61s and a W500 and was statisfied. On the 09.02 I called the ThnkPad support center as my unit don't want to start. After a short diagnostic phase ,the support girl said the motherboard have to be changed and booked an onsite tech guy for the 13.02 9pm. On the 11.02 at 3am, just called again the support to know where is the guy. They just replied he can visit until 6am. and if he did not come today, he will come tomorrow. Ring back again the support on the 12.02, around 3am, I have been told that the tech guy just leave me a VM, but not on my number. Quite strange as wqe checked the number when I opened the ticket. The tech was supposed to ring me back.Ring back again and again the support on the 13.02 as I don't have any news from the 48h onsite support. The only answer is ... we are chasing the tech. Today, a week after, my computer is still out of service, wihtout any update from Lenovo. If somebody got the good to know address or contact in France rather than the call center located somewhere in Romania, it could be helpful

hi guys i really want to try a windows 8 tablet and i plan to buy it either by the end of this month or by next January. I am confused on what to pick though
First of all, the reason why I want a windows 8 tablet IS because i like the interface. but more importantly, i need metatrader and cTrader in legacy app as im a full time forex trader. I have metatrader in my iphone but you cant seriously compare that with the windows version (no tabbing, no lines drawing, no fibonacci, etc.). cTrader doesnt even exist there.
im looking to replace my macbook pro (which btw i also installed windows 8 on it through parallels virtual desktop) with a windows 8 tablet to support my trading while im outside
So basically I dont need a super i7 tablet or something. However, im curious to know how windows 8 atom tablets perform. I have seen enough reviews and some people says atom tablets perform badly in legacy apps. Question is, how bad is that bad? Does it lag so bad even though i dont need to run heavy apps like adobe? I only need to run these trading apps which btw are very light. You can compare them with MS paint i believe, just with constant connection.
would it do well in atom tablets? I dont want lags when i switch from win8 native apps to metatrader and cTrader.
next question - how does windows 8 tablet on-screen keyboard work with legacy apps? Would i have special gesture to show up the on-screen keyboard or it automatically appears when i touch the screen? I personally dont believe ... Read more

I forgot to add one more question. how responsive legacy apps (desktop mode) is to your finger? Do i really need a pen or it doesnt help either? Because acer w700 doesnt come with a pen so it's also a crucial question for me

I wanted to give my impressions of the Lenovo TPT2. First off, the model I have is the 3679-27U, this means that it has the digitizer pen, windows 8 pro, no NFC, no 3G/4G antenna (though there is a slot for a SIM card). Let me also be frank about my biases concerning tablets. I am not a voracious media consumer. If Im going to watch a movie or TV program I prefer to do so with a large screen TV in the comfort of my living room. As far as checking email, messaging, twitter, and facebook that is why I have a smartphone. Why do I need another piece of electronic equipment that does the exact same thing as my smartphone? In my opinion iPADs and Android tablets are really only good for media consumption, they give you a slightly larger screen to run the same apps that your phone runs. If Im going to buy a tablet it has to provide some functionality that my phone or laptop cannot, otherwise it is a waste of money. Therefore, a tablet had to be able to run productivity programs: MS Office, Photoshop, Illustrator, GB-Stats, etc That meant a tablet using either the Atom processor or a Core processor (i3, i5). This left out not only Apple and Android but also any tablets running Windows 8 RT. Obviously one the major advantages of a tablet is its size and portability. My laptop is a comfortable size and fairly easy to carry around, so what advantage would a tablet give me. The answer is battery life. In order to be practical I would need a laptop with a significantly longer run time tha... Read more

Answer:The Lenovo Thinkpad Tablet 2: Everything a tablet should be

Nice review. I have had my TPT2 for a little over a month now. I have used it extensively as my only device away from the office and have been able to do so without adjusting my computing needs too much. The only drawback that I have had is an under-powered USB port where i am unable to attach my external hard drive. Anything that I knew I was going to need for the day or trip I load onto a USB stick and problem averted.
Edit: I suppose I should mention that my usage is not too intense in terms of productivity. My programs of choice are typically the Microsoft Office package. I do a lot with excel, word, and power point and so far, I haven't run into any issues. I'm in the process of getting a new monitor for home and i'll have a better idea what it's like running a multiple monitor setup from the TPT2 and mini HDMI to HDMI connection. At this point I have a BT keyboard and Mouse which I have been using for the past few days with no issues (except when the battery is close to dying in the keyboard and it behaves as if it is possessed).
I might be one of the lucky ones but haven't had any issues with the wifi signal, sleep issues others have experienced, etc. Outside of the USB and mini HDMI to VGA issues, I'm still completely satisfied. If Wacom could update the drivers to enhance the accuracy of pen input, then I'd be completely satisfied given my particular usage patterns.

I'm been using various type of thinkpad starting with 380ED, X600, X21, T42, R50, R52, T60 and recently in my collection X61 (last year) and all of them come with different OS such As win 95, Win 98, Win 200, Win XP, Win Vista Business and Window Vista Home Basic. Why on the early model I received recovery CD together with window CD, But starting from R50,R52,T60 and X61 I did not received Any more recovery CD and window CD? Any particular reason? As I think it is very important to have recovery CD and window CD As I been told (1998) by IBM thinkpad salesman that thinkpad was so special so that they need recovery CD and also window CD example when change hard disk, need to boot using the recovery CD and inside the recovery CD it's contain the driver for that model. Thanks God until today all my thinkpad is working fine. But I'm worry if one day my thinkpad got problem especially my X61, cause I find that older IBM thinkpad is more reliable that new Levono Thinkpad(sorry to said that But it a fact base on my usage As all my think pad still working fine), thus where can I buy the recovery CD? As I not good in computer, until today all my software was install by computer shop that sell thinkpad to me since 1996 But due to economy crisis they decided to closed down their business after they sell X 61 to me thus I'm a bit worry (even though still under warranty have 647 days to go) As now no body will take care for my thinkpad. Answer:Service on IBM ThinkPad and Leno ThinkPad - Recovery Discs

IBM (and later Lenovo) stopped routinely shipping recovery media after they introduced recovery partitions on the hard drives of ThinkPads. On these systems you can burn your own media using the TV R&R utility. You should do that when you first get a new ThinkPad in case you later have a hard drive failure. If you prefer original recovery media you can buy it from Lenovo for about US$50. I've also seen this media for sale on eBay.

Question: Thinkpad Tablet 2

Anyone else looking at the Lenovo Thinkpad Tablet 2? I'm excited about this device. I love the pen and want a Windows 8 pro device. I have concerns about it running an atom processor and how well it will really run. I am not a huge power user but do use photoshop, generally minor edits but... I wonder if I'd be better off waiting for Surface Pro but don't really want to wait 3 months.
Any thoughts on this tablet? Anyone looking to buy it? Anyone know release date for it?
Thanks :)

Thanks :) Beck... Im looking at this Tablet specifically too for all the same reasons. I'm also comparing vs the Surface Pro. The main things I like about SUrface Pro are Kickstand, touch cover/keyboard and the 1080p display.
But... it weighs 2 pounds vs the Thinkpad at 1.3 lbs. While I wan to e able to run Pro I also want to use this to read, watch videos, etc... so I dont want anything that is too uncomfortable to hold for long periods of time.
I think I read it will be released at launch, so hopefully this Friday. Im hoping its carried in stores so I can at least see it before buying.

I have an IBM ThinkPad X41 that was issued to me from work. I would like to reinstall the operating system to get rid of all the garbage that's on it. But, they don't have the CD's that came with the laptop. The COA on the bottom of the X41 is for WinXP Pro Tablet Edition. But, I don't have a copy in the office and they can't find it anywhere. Should I install Windows XP Professional on it or should I somehow contact IBM for the CD's to be reissued?

Any ideas???

OK, right now it is more of first thoughts but will post a more thorough review later.
The build quality seems nice and solid to me. No complaints other than a big notice on the back saying "Non Encyrption" which is rather obnoxious and I'm not sure why it is necessary. I thought there was supposed to be a fingerprint reader but I don't see it and am a little surprised as I bought the highest level that was detailed on their site. I need to do more investigation as I'm sure this was an oversite on my part. For some reason the TT2 keyboard and stand is still on backorder which is odd and I'm contacting them today to find out when that should ship. I am fine without it now though as I really plan to use this as a tablet in my workplace but the ke
The initial apps that I loaded all installed fine. Seemed a little slow but not sure how much of that was loading apps for first time or an indication of the processor. The digitzer pen worked well and I also really like using it to click on smaller items (especially in desktop mode). I am going to install office later today/tonight and put it through its paces with OneNote which is really why I bought this device. I will also do a more thorough review on it later tonight and hope that others that have this device will post their reviews and thoughts here as well.
Please let me know if you have any questions or would like me to test any specific app or functionality.

I tried emailing lenovo and chatting with representative and they sent me here. So here is an email directed at somene who actually works there, but anyone can take a stab should they be privvy to some information.   I have had one version or another of the x series convertible tablets for past 8 years and I have loved them all. My latest one (x61) is close to needing a replacement and I have been disappointed with the models you currently offer. I carry my laptop everywhere and I usually bike, which means that one of the things I am interested in is portability and lightness of my computer. Instead of them getting smaller, your laptops are getting bigger. Their screens are larger, and they are heavier. Not all of us are interested in wasting our time on watching videos on wide screen computers -- I can't be the only one. It would be nice if there were at least one model that targeted audience such as myself. Are there any plans that you might offer models that are smaller than the ones you offered three years ago?e

I downgraded to XP on my brand-new X61 Tablet and when I undock the unit I get the error message "System has recovered from a serious error" at which point a BSOD appears and then it reboots itself.  All the requisite "ready to undoc" lights and messages appear before I take the unit out of the base. Anybody else using XP?  Anyone seeing this problem?  Based on the number of posts, it doesn't appear to be any better in Vista. BTW I have updated all the drivers, etc. etc.  Thanks.

Answer:Undocking Thinkpad X61 Tablet with XP

I have the X61 XP with the docking station, however do not see your errors. I presume you select "Undock" from Start and allow the screen to blick a couple of times.  Also, later on I changed the Power Manager setting to force the tablet to go into Stand-by mode when I undock.   As soon as you open the laptop it will leave the stand-by mode.   The setting is off the Advanced button on Global Power Settings tab in Power Manager.    (Start > ThinkAdvantage > Power Manager > Global Power Settings > Advanced)    See if you still have the same issue in stand-by mode. As a side note, many of the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) events in Vista are probably related to the Turbo Memory, which does not apply to Windows XP systems which can not use Turbo Memory.     The only BSOD event I've had was when I was attempting to print an unusual PDF document, for which I never determined a cause.    Message Edited by ctoys on 07-01-2008 12:45 PM

I have a X220T. And I am thinking to buy a ThinkPad Tablet android too. But I am not sure if it will add anything in my life. I have a lot of windows application in my computer, I am a programmer. And read and write a PDF a lot. And I don't like the idea to carry two hardware with me (X220T and ThinkPad Tablet). The ThinkPad Tablet is good, light, camera, battery life. But I am not sure if it worth buying one, since I have the X220T. I am not sure if it is really necessary.

Answer:X220T vs. ThinkPad Tablet.

This is largely a question of preference.  If you value weight and battery life over functionality then the thinkpad tablet is a good investment.  If you however, value performance, ability, and sheer functionality above weight and size, then the thinkpad tablet is a waste of money.  The x220t can be made to last battery wise just as long (and longer) than the thinkpad tablet. It is a beast in comparison spec wise to the tablet. It's keyboard is a dream, and the wacom implementation is superior in most aspects to the n-trig used on the thinkpad tablet.  If it was up to me, I wouldn't even look at the thinkpad tablet.  That said I love the way the thinkpad tablet looks. If they stuff x86/x64 guts in there, I would be the first in line to buy it.

If I were to pull the trigger on a Windows tablet, I think that would be it. Seems like a great compromise of price, performance and features.
I'm keen on Windows RT, but Win 8 would be even better if they can keep the price down and get the battery life up, which it looks like the did with the TPT 2 pretty well with the Atom processor.
Atom seems like a perfect solution because it's able to run Win 8 and it will outperform any ARM SoC and at the same time the newest Atom can just about match the ARM for battery life.
I think the perfect storm will be when the "Bay Trail" Atom's come out later this year. It should mark the first really major upgrade for the Atom architecture. They will have quad core versions, much better onboard graphics and out-of-order execution (the lack of this is probably the biggest reason Atom's real-world performance falls so far short of better processors)
So... NOKIA.. give me a Win 8 tabelt with that Bay Trail Atom in it for under $700 and I will run to the store with a wad of sweaty $100's in my hand the day it goes on sale.
Questions? Comments?

Answer:Thinkpad Tablet 2 looks good

The only potential gotcha is if you ever need to use Hyper-V, say for playing with the Windows Phone 8 emulator, you will be out of luck on an Atom. Curious, since the AMD equivalent runs Hyper-V just fine.
Otherwise, other than a little bit of lag when starting up applications and during web browsing, Windows 8 runs just fine on an Atom, even on the current models. (I expect some of the lag I experence on my netbook isdue to using a standard HDD instead of SDD.)
I think you'll be quite happy trading a little speed for more battery life between charges.

X60 Tablet Thinkpad:  Error message:  There was a problem connecting to a critical service.  It is possible that anit-virus or firewall software is blocking the connection.  Also, check to make sure that the TPM device driver is installed and enabled. The above message is the latest in a growing problem.  The unit while under warranty recieved a new motherboard three months ago.  Since the warantee has expired.  From the beginning the validation for the security chip (new follwing the replacement motherboard andlways took too long to validate verify or whatever it did.) this process took about 5 mins originally and now takes short of half and hour. About two weeks ago routine updates began to stop and were experiencing problems with various messages about memory errors.  I remain suspect of the security chip. I tried resotre points and they get a message that I can not restore. I tried turning off the chip via CSS and this seemed to make matters worse. I tried disabling in the bios.  This had no change. I tried reenabling  in the bios and no change. When I try now to enter the "Protect Data" command in CSS I can not get to it as it now want a password which I have never set up.  I tried to go the manage logon passwords and get the same. I am out of my zone and don't know what to do.  Survey says?

Answer:TPM Device - X60 Thinkpad Tablet

http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Embedded_Security_Subsystem you could reset the tpm chip, read the whole thing, especially about hhd passwords and bios passwords. i would reseat your ram chips just in case that's part of the problem.  i know that would be just too easy though.

I see a subject line which already asks this question in the knowledgebase, however I can't open the link so I'm asking this question as a duplicate, my apologies in advance..So, basically, is this possible?  I don't see any Win-7 drivers available for the TP Tablet 2.  I'm assuming that Windows 7 isn't supported then, unless I attempt to load the Win-8 drivers on a Win-7 install.I'm quite disappointed with the TP Tablet 2 running Windows 8.  The response times on anything from opening a webpage, changing to another webpage, opening apps, etc is very slow.  I was hoping that if Windows 7 was supported, then I might just get better performance with this tablet however it could just end up with the same performance for all I know.  I won't know until I try but I don't want to go through the install process just to find out that I don't have any driver support for Win-7. I'm thinking that I should have purchased a Helix... TBD... Any feedback would be appreciated, thank you!!!

Answer:Can I run Windows 7 on the ThinkPad Tablet

Windows 7 won't run natively on the TPT2. My TPT2 response time is okay, i uninstalled any apps and softwares that i don't need. What do you have running on the background of your system?

Hi, I hope someone can give me an insight into this issue. I received my new ThinkPad X61 Tablet a couple weeks ago (I have to say, it's been great so far!). However, I've got an issue with the fan assembly in my unit. Not a major issue, but an annoyance nonetheless. Model number/type is 7764 CTO L3-xxxxx The fan underneath the left palmrest seems to be generating excessive noise and vibration. It's not huge, but enough to hear it, noticably, over the notebook playing music. I can feel the vibration when I rest my hand on the palmrest, and the problem is excarbated when the notebook is on a hard surface -- i.e., a desk. This has been an issue since I received the laptop, and is definitely the fan. I suspect the rotor is slightly unbalanced. Now, will Lenovo's EasyServ warranty cover this issue? I realize that it doesn't affect the functionality of the computer, but it is annoying (particularly in my place-of-work). Secondly, if Lenovo will repair it, how long will this take? I have classes starting in three weeks and while I can use a work computer at work, I don't have another computer to use for school. I have a 2-year EasyServ warranty -- if I wait until next summer to get it serviced, (assuming they will service this issue under warranty), will they still do it, considering I knew about the issue but opted to wait to get it fixed? And where would I request this warranty service? I suppose I could live with the problem, but if at all possible, I'd reall... Read more

I bought lenovo thinkpad X230 in January 2013. I made a recovery USB on a 16 GB pendrive. I bought a windows 8 pro upgrade offer as well. But i did not install it at that time and kept it for future use.  About a week ago I installed windwos 8 on my system in dual boot mode making a partition on primary HDD.everything went ok with only problem that my windows 8 did not activate. I was ok with that. But when i tried F11 recovery function, it was not working. So i tried factory reset through recovery USB i created earlier. It opened up and said BOOTMGR missing. Later with some research I realized that i didnt make USB active (bootable) before burning it.(Though this is ridiculous considering, tools provided must have done that. Like when you make windows bootable.) With all this(and me panicking), I tried backing up my data with image i created through R & R tool. After back up, I lost my recovery partition on HDD. And I guess i accidentally deleted System_DRV partition as well.  Though my computer is running fine. I need a bootable media. it would be great if you can provide it. Also if you can restore my comp to factory setting with recovery partition, it would be great. Please help me. Thanks in advance.

Answer:Thinkpad X230- No recovery partition, lost System_DRV and have no recovery media

Hi, You can make bootable media (CD, USB stick or USB HDD) for using with your Factory Recovery Data USB stick.Just launch Lenovo Factory Recovery Disks app from Control Panel, deselect Data media creation, select needed Boot media type. Note you'll need less then 300 mb free space on media.

Hello everyone,

Recently I bought a new computer to my wife, and it has French Windows 7 x64 bit preinstalled on it. As she speaks French/Russian I added a Russian layout in Windows (please note that originally Windows 7 came as French edition).

Now, when she visits Le Monde.fr : Actualit?s ? la Une web site the special characters are not properly shown in IE8. For example, in words, the letter ? becomes й etc.

If she runs Google Chrome browser, everything is working just fine. However, she dislikes Chrome, so I am forced to solve the problem with IE8.

If I choose in IE8 a Western Europe locale I can see proper characters in words, but! I don't want to choose locale each time there is a bug with IE8!

How can I solve the issue?

Please help. Merci.

Answer:Windows 7 French edition: IE8 can't "see" french pages

You just need to set your language options in IE in your preferred order... and if you are going to use cyrillics at all you must have the far eastern language fonts too (as odd as that sounds... d'accord/harosho?)...

Control Panel > Internet Options > Language Button (it's in the first tab...) and set French, Russian, English in their ORDER of personal importance...

I've had  a X41 Tablet for about 2.5 years now.  Just recently in the past month it will randomly die on me, meaning it will lose all power (No shutdown screen, nothing).  If I try to turn it back on, nothing will happen.  If I plug in the AC adapter, still no power.  The only way I can get it to start back up is if I remove the battery, then place it back in forcefully or wiggle the battery around while it is back in the slot.  If it does restart, the battery is still charged like nothing had happened.  So  it isn't the battery losing it's charge.  I even tried putting another battery in from one of the X41 tablets in our office after the computer had died and it wouldn't start.  My thoughts are it has something to with the connection on the board.  Any other thoughts or ways to fix this? Thanks,JohnMessage Edited by cranjx on 06-11-2008 10:34 AM

I decided to get the Thinkpad Tablet 2 and ordered it, the keyboard and the sleeve. It is starting to ship slowly and figured I'd post reviews and updates as items arrive. The listed ship dates are: Sleeve: 1/3/13; TT2 Keyboard with Stand: 1/9/13; TT2 Tablet: 1/13/13. Hopefully they stick to the schedule or ship early as I'm going nuts waiting!
The first part, the sleeve, arrived today...
It has a great leather feel (even though I'm sure it is not real leather) and the red lining inside definitely gives it a high end feel and would be nice to the screen of the device (perhaps may help eliminate fingerprints???). It is separated into two compartments which are nicely sized. As the sleeve was delivered to my work I was able to take the Surface that we have and see how it fit (as they are both 10.1 devices figured it would give a good idea) and it fit very much like a glove. I think the Tablet 2 will go in it nicely. The word Lenovo is embossed in the "leather" and is done very gracefully and unobtrusively. There is also a nice little pocket that I guess is for a credit card or driver's license or something like that.
This is, in my opinion, a very high end product and well worth the $39.99.

I need a thinkpad tablet that has a 14'' or above display. X230t, helix, twist all have only 12'', too small for work purposes. x-1 carbon touch has 14'', but it's only touch not tablet. I need tablet because I'd like to read pdfs and write notes on them. Touch is vertical and therefore not convenient for this purpose. Does Lenovo have any plan to market a 14'' thinkpad tablet any time soon? Thanks.

Answer:Does Lenovo have any plan for a 14'' thinkpad tablet?

Not sure how much of a help this is to you (it's a work-around). However, with a separate/detachable keyboard option (available for most tablets of any brand) as well as a separate (non-dockable) accessory pen, you can draw and physically type on most any tablet now-adays. I've seen a ton of pressure sensitive, aftermarket pen designs on Kickstarter, similar sites and elsewhere, that use various technologies to enable drawing and writing for just about any device.  It's not elegant, it's not ideal, but it's worth considering if your in the market for a new machine.  Probably worth testing first/reading significant reviews on each piece before you buy as well.  But it may open up many options for you.

I have never been able to get this tablet screen to rotate according to the rotation sequence settings I have set for it in the control panel tablet settings. It is currently set to go from primary landscape to secondary landscape, then portrait, etc. It NEVER works upon rotating the screen. Doing this, tt always goes straight to the portrait orientations. According to that control panel setting, this sequence is for the button only. From the usual, unfolded laptop position, the sequence does work. However, if I flip the screen then hit the button, it goes out of sequence. Anyone successfully get theirs to rotate properly?

Answer:Thinkpad X61 Tablet rotation sequence....

Yes, had the same issue until I changed the setting in another place that must override the one you set.    Go to Programs > ThinkVantage  > Tablet Shortcut Menu >  Settings (round link at bottom) > Customize Tablet Menu Settings then set the Auto Screen Rotation default value.    The screens will then rotate in the order you set in the Control Panel > Table and Pen Settings > Display > Sequence.   One place to set the default orientaion and one place for the sequence, not sure how or if the two conflict with each other.

I have thinkpad x230 tablet, and I have mixed feeling about it. It is a quite powerful one, does most of the job but have too many design flaws - broken rubber latch after a while and rubber buffers in the bottom etc.,  I hate the new gen x240 laptop, especially the X series convertible laptop is discontinued. Stupid, in my opinion, yoga design. I, no way, want to flip the keyboard to any surface. Especially on a field trip. X240 discontinues Express Card slot, no thunderbolt, no digitizer. Good day and welcome to the community.

Sorry you're having difficulty.
In my experience, a fan error is not something that is cleared by any kind of reset. It pretty much means that the fan needs to be replaced.

I would recommend that you contact Support (info below) to discuss and confirm.

Hope this helps a bit.

Xp tablet was never offered to the general public for sale.  It was only made available to the manufacturers.

So, the only way to get xp tablet pc on your tablet will be to obtain a set of restore discs.  You can try to obtain a set through Lenovo support.  If you are unable to purchase or if they are unavailable, you can get them from the link.  I've bought a few sets of restore discs over the years from them and haven't had any problems.

Alright so I got a used IBM Thinkpad X41 from my uncle which had windows xp installed on it. He asked me to reformat it so his companys information and other data would be fully erased. Some specs on the X41:Does not have CD/DVD Drive so I can't install windows that way.Does have USB slots, so I think that will be the only way to install (correct me if I am wrong).  Me being a complete newbie, I full erased the hard drive (so there is no OS). The laptop still turns on but when i let it run it says: Media Test Failure, Check CableExiting Broadcom PXE ROMOperating System Not Found Luckily the Bios still works and I can access it but there is nothing I can do to restore it back to factory state or recover. The Bios does detect my usb drive and I have placed that in the number one spot for boot order. If there is anyway I can get an OS installed onto my pc I would be grateful. Note I don't need to install XP on the first install, If installing windows 98 or 95 will be faster and easier we can do that. I can take it from there as all I will need is the xp install files which i have copied from my cd to my computers share folders. Thanks again hopefully there is a solution to my problem, I'd really like to have this laptop for school as im going into grade 12.

Hi guys,
I yearn for that very promising little pen supporting tablet and really think I'm gonna get one - unless it's gonna be too costly, cause, let's face it, it's got no Surface Pro Click-Keyboard.
But where is it? Lenovo site says coming November, and there is a new sneak peek video, at the end of which the Lenovo guy says it there would be an event "next week" at the MoMa. Lenovo.de, as usual, barely even recognizes Windows 8. So, my fellow Windows fans from the Big Aplle, do you know anything about that event? Or at least prices for Tablet, Keyboard and Dock?
Cheers,

Answer:ThinkPad Tablet 2 to be announced next week?

I've heard it's anywhere from $629 to $699 for the tablet. I think the cheapest price was for 1GB of RAM, 32GB SSD, and no stylus. The $699 I see at the Microsoft Store for preorder supposedly includes 2GB of RAM, a 64GB SSD, and a stylus.

Or you can get the tablet and keyboard together for $799Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet 2 with Windows 8 to be priced at $799 with keyboard | Windows Phone Central
I don't know how much the dock costs or about any events. I'm not liking the silence from all the OEMs. A lot of them said they would launch on the 26th, and that date has past and we've heard nothing from them. It's like they're not interested in selling these things.

Thinkpad, laptop and notebook, mean virtually the same thing. i.e. portable computer.  The main reason why I chose the x220 tablet was for school purpose. Most of my classes are notes you buy from the teacher (40-50$ a booknote) or powerpoints which I have to print out (Around 800 powerpoint pages, 400 papers per class). So thread is a good thread for all the students out there.  I was a big fan of Asus for their good quality hardware and for their EEE pc brand. I had a netbook, with a 10 hours battery life. So battery was my main concern at that time. I was bringing it in the lab and loved it for its small size and long life battery. Then one day, I saw a new product from Asus at CES 2010, the ep121. I was like ?wow, that tablet would be great for school!? I then did some research to find out more about it. That?s where I found the poor 3 hours battery. So I continued my research to find a tablet that would fill in this job. That?s when I found out about lenovos thinkpad tablet. I was impressed about the overall laptops but the x220 tablet stood out? 19 hours battery? I couldn?t find anything better. So I ordered it. For all the students who think 1300$ is expensive, let me tell you this. How much do your texts books cost? From my experience, I spend 1-2 reference book, 3 text book and lots of prints out a semester. My spending would be around 200-300 $ every semester. Right now, with my tablet, I?m not buying or printing anything for school. I borrow my friend?s books, scan them (process that takes haft an hour per text book) a... Read more

Thanks for the student's perspective. I'm currently waiting for mine and plan on using it in class as well. My previous setup was an SL410 with a Wacom Bamboo, so I can appreciate how awesome it is to cutout the paper from note taking process. I didn't progress quite as far as you with scanning textbooks though... baby steps I guess. As for the Fn key, I read that you can change that in the BIOS. I'm sure someone more computer literate has already outlined exactly how to do this on the X220t. Not sure if the keys themselves are swappable though...?

Hi, Three days of struggling to clean an infected Thinkpad so I am ready for drastic action. Wife's  T60 2007-43U rendered useless by ramnit virus. Long story, but reformat seems like only solution. Have T60 2008-SAA with as-built installation, and expect I can make  Product Recovery discs for that machine. Also have T60P 2007-8JU working fine, but with no recovery partition or great Thinkpad utilities,Sonic or WinDVD as reformat by previous owner deleted them. All three computers have XP Pro with SP-3. Questions:1. Can self-made Product Recovery Disc from one Thinkpad be used to reinstall factory load on these others?2. If so, should doing that completely clean the disk of existing virus and leave it in "new" condition?3. Understand 6 CD's make up the factory set of Recovery Discs. The  as built load is about 10GB! Is there a list somewhere of what all is included in the Recovery?  Before I start making these discs, should I expect a total of 6, more, or fewer? Thanks!

Answer:Use Product Recovery Disc on different Thinkpad for virus recovery?

1) Yes

2) You should wipe the drive with DBAN or something along those lines first.

3) The set will have a total of 7 or 8 disks altogether...Rescue & Recovery + 6 CDs + possibly supplemental CD

Good luck.

Is it okay to upgrade using USB by following some directions like these? Also, will I be able to download all of the software and drivers that came with the tablet from lenovo once I have done a clean install using a standard win 7 disk? thanks

Answer:Upgrading ThinkPad X200 Tablet (7450-AA9) to Win 7

I would like to share with you that you can install Windows 7 Operating System by using the USB option,
After upgrading the Windows 7 Operating System you can download all the drivers from the lenovo website.

Please visit the mentioned below web link and here you can download all  the system drivers.

Dear All: I have a thinkpad X220 Tablet which does not have the WWAN 3G/GSM card , and I was looking to get one for it since it has the sim card slot and the antenna .But I remember that my Thinkpad W500 has the WWAN module and since I got the X220 Tablet I do not use that one outside of my house anymore and now it's more a desktop , I thought maybe I could put the WWAN module on the W500 inside the X220 Tablet. I know they both use the same port but I'm not sure if they physical fit and if it's really possible to do so. So if you guys know anything about this please let me know, thank you very much guys.

Hi, I got a new ThinkPad X200 Tablet PC, I try to use the PCMCIA Reader GemPC400 but it does not fit on the PCCard slot. Do you know what SmartCard Reader can I use for this model ofThinkPad, is it integrated?

Answer:Looking for SmartCard reader for the ThinkPad X200 Tablet

luisTablet, welcome to the Lenovo User Community! That's an ExpressCard/34 / ExpressCard/54 slot in your X200 tablet. You need to search for an ExpressCard SmartCard reader.  For instance, Lenovo sells a Gemplus one.

Hi,I have a x41 tablet. It died on me wouldn't power on... I just read about the discharging of laptops from one of the other post here and wish I had done that but... I opened up my laptop for fun instead.... Anyway... now I found and x41 notebook put my harddrive from x41tablet and it works perfectly. However, I don't have the tablet capabilities...  My question is if I gutted both the laptops... can I switch the notebook motherboard onto the tablet body ...??Do they share the same motherboard... Mind you  I don't know why my x41 tablet stopped working... it was overheating and the power input was almost melting into the laptop and fusing.... I don't know if I burned the power supply or something?? Thanks.

Twice now, my Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet Digitizer Pen - stylus has dropped out of the tablet only to be found later on my family room floor.   Given the expensive price tag on these pens (Office Depot has for $65), it would be nice if these pens could be locked into place so that they don't come up "missing" for whatever reason.   Has anyone else found a way to keep better track of their pen, short of not putting it in the holder on the tablet? Joe

Answer:Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet Digitizer Pen - stylus

Have you tried to tether it to your tablet?  There is a hole in the stylus clip and the tablet that you can use.  Beyond that, you can send it in to have the stylus catch replaced and see if that helps.

Hello, I purchased a Lenovo x61 tablet thinkpad about a year ago, it is great, by far the best computer I have ever owned. Answer:Upgrading my x61 tablet thinkpad video card

Welcome to the forum! Your graphics card is integrated in your system board, and can't be replaced per se. All X61T units have the same Intel integrated graphics which are not upgradeable or replaceable. No other planar would fit in your machine either. So, no, there is no upgrade option for your machine when it comes to graphics. Hope this helps.

Today I configured Thinkpad x61 Tablet 7764 CTO. The sale price is 800USD. The base model seems suitable and easily upgradable. The only upgrade necessary out-of-the-box, for me, is a Bluetooth radio. As the quick overview explicitly states "NO" under the bluetooth category. My order confirmation seems to suggest different.Specs on the LCD touchpanel (SBB 12.1"XGA TFT+INTEL L7500LV) suggest it may have an embedded bluetooth.  Would not the stylus require this technology to transmit signal from the smart keys  Here is a excerpt from that very order:62P6054 VBB INTEGR.BLUETOOTH PAN 42T6786 SBB BLUETOOTH W/ ANTENNA  Is this redundant? .

welcome to the forum! the tablet digitizer uses patented RFID technology from wacom and doesn't rely on bluetooth for communication with the pen. with that said, it does look like this system will ship with bluetooth given what you've posted. those lines aren't redundant since it's just a build sheet.

Hi, all: I found the touchpad, when the computer is plugged in to an outlet and battery is at 100%, jumpy and it misclicks often. This can be repeatedly demostrated by holding a finger in the middle of the touchpad; while doing so for 3-10 seconds, the mouse cursor would jump around by itself. Note that the issue exists on other regions of the touchpad as well but is less obvious.  My best guess is that this is a hardware voltage related issue as 1. my finger feels the increase in current from the trackpad; 2. the issue is completely gone when the computer is on battery; 3. reinstalling the driver doesn't help; and 4. it has been reported that the touchpad is jumpy when plugged in with a 90w adapter: http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/X-Series-ThinkPad-Laptops/90w-adapter-leads-to-unusable-jumpy-touchpad/t... The system (Product ID: 4294CTO) is competely new (that is, I have received it last Thursday). I am the owner of an X200 Tablet (7448-CTO). I purchased this laptop (+ 3 year on-site repair and Thinkpad Protection) for school just over 2 years ago. Long story short,  I am having EXTREMELY bad luck with the screen on this laptop and am curious about what sort of Lemon Policy that Lenovo might have. Pretty much the only problems I've had with this laptop have been related to the screen. (Although I think I did have to get the motherboard replaced once). Anways, I don't remember my exact repair history, but it seems that within the first 1.5 year of owning it I had to have the screen replaced twice. The first time went well. The issue was resolved. I forget what went wrong next, but on that repair the person apparently wasn't very familiar with the convertible tablets because the screen area/hinge didn't seem put together correctly when he was done. After that repair I caved and mailed my laptop to the depot. However, I did wait awhile to make the service call because the laptop was usable and I needed it. By the time I had time to send it in, they decided to replace the screen. However, this time the part wasn't available and I ended up having to wait for qiute a bit. I finally got it escalated but the guy in Atlanta that was supposed to be doing that completely ignored me (never called to update after the initial contact when he said he would and never answered messages). I finally got through to his backup guy on the phone and that guy *somehow* found the... Read more

Aloha all,HELP!  Over the past several weeks my wireless connection suddenly began cycling from No Connectivity, to "Local only," to "Local and Internet," and then back to No Connectivity - consistently and every 10 seconds or so. It seems to me that the Access Connections Wireless Radio might be the culprit, as it powers off on its own, which is then immediately followed by this cycle of no connectivity to connectivity, over and over and over and over. Specs:Windows Vista 32-bit,D-Link router,11a/b/g/n Wireless LAN Mini-PCI Express Adapter,ThinkVantage Access Connections.(any other specs needed?)I made no changes to my wireless settings before this started happening. It used to run perfectly fine -completely uninterrupted, speedy & smooth connection. I know the problem is not with my router, as my other computer (Dell, with Windows XP) is connected to the same router & its connection is uninterrupted.  Nevertheless, i did try rebooting both my modem and router.I've also tried the following:updating drivers, rolling back drivers, uninstalling system updates (that i am aware of),reinstalling system updates (that i am aware of),rebooting my computer (too many times to count), resetting the network adapter (72 times),fiddling around with the network connection settings, and whacking myself upside the head with the Foreman grill (Fortunately no one else lives with me - otherwise i would currently be writing to you from our local prison). Is anyone e... I'm having a similar problem with my notebook. Though the connection doesn't reset every ten second, I'll connect to a wireless connection and it'll just hang, connecting to the internet but never really getting there. My only alternative is to restart the computer, and even this doesn't guarantee that the connection will be established afterward. And also, for some strange reason, my ethernet port has been set to disable unless instructed to turn on, so whereas before all I needed do to connect to the internet was plug in the ethernet cord into the computer, now I have to go to the actual devices menu and eneable the adapter manually.I'm not sure what the problem is, but I have reason to believe that an update caused the connectivity aspect of the computer to go berserk. Hopfully it gets fixed soon. I'll keep you posted if I've found a solution.

Hi all.
I am running into some trouble and would like to know if anyone here is having the same issue. Hopefully, I'm not the only one with a Thinkpad Tablet 2 here.
I went to update my tablet to Windows 10 yesterday and ran into a few problems. Windows 10 was not downloading correctly and I would get a Windows Update error. Finally, when I got up this morning the update was ready. However, I have now hit a new snag. Hence why I come to you good sirs.
When I click on the update icon on the system tray, it gives me an error. The screen states:
"Unfortunately, this PC is unable to run Windows 10."
"We're sorry to let you know that this PC can't upgrade to Windows 10 because one or more things are incompatible."
Then on the right, it states:
"Compatibility issue:
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator
The display manufacturer hasn't made your display compatible with Windows 10. Check with the manufacturer for support."
Here's a screenshot:
Can anyone tell me what I can do about this? I've already gone to Intel and Lenovo and updated everything they have and still nothing. Would mounting and running the ISO work? Would anyone even recommend that considering the warning about incompatibility?
Thanks in advance and I hope to hear from you all soon.

Hi all, This started of as an email to direct to Lenovo, but after 1 hour of going through there various websites only to discover they don't seem to have an online contact form or a public email address. So I am hoping someone here can help me with my questions.  I have a few questions regarding the IBM/Lenovo Thinkpad x200 Tablet (7450-R93).I am aware that this is not your current model and they have been superseded by the x201 model. The x200?s ?touchscreen?, I cannot seem to find any precise details regarding the type of touch screen technology used in these units. What type of touch technology is used in the x200: Resistive, SAW, Capacitive, Hybrid Capacitive or something else?If we were to purchase a lot of between 5-10 brand new units from the USA, is the warranty offered an international warranty?Do you still produce/sell accessories for this model: specifically batteries and do you make a case for this unit that enables table use while still in the case? Sorry I was to slack to rewrite the email that I prepared to send. ;-) Cheers, Matt

"The x200?s ?touchscreen?, I cannot seem to find any precise details regarding the type of touch screen technology used  in these units. What type of touch technology is used in the x200: Resistive, SAW, Capacitive, Hybrid Capacitive or something else?" I own a x200t but not THAT x200t you are looking for, so i don't know. But i can tell you that when it comes to the digitizer option on a x200t you have basicaly 3 options:1) you only have an active digitizer (wacom made) that can be used with the included stylus.2) you have the wacom digitize + the passive-resistive digitizer. The latter can be used with your finger.3)wacom+passive capacitive multitouch digitizer. The fact is that the first x200t models ha the reistive option only. But the last x200t also implemented the wacom capacitive multitouch one.  "If we were to purchase a lot of between 5-10 brand new units from the USA, is the warranty offered an international  warranty?"From what i know ALL lenvo thinpad tablet (x200t or x201t) are sold ONLY with internationa warranty. It doesn't depend on the number  of units you want to purchase. "Do you still produce/sell accessories for this model: specifically batteries and do you make a case for this unit that  enables table use while still in the case?"The accessories are the same fr x200t and x201t. Same are the batteries (8cell or 4 cell), same is the stylus and same is the bumpcase. For the case you are lokking for take a ... Read more

Hi I'm having some problems with some of the multitouch commands. For instance the scrolling to the end of the document, when scrolling with 3 fingers and the show open windows thingy with 4 fingers, similar to the mac "active corners". I keep on hitting these effects by mistake when handwritting in files with pdf annotator for example. On top of that, theres an option that logs you of, I haven't figured out the finger combination yet, but it happens a lot. How do I turn of some of the multitouch commands while keeping scrolling with two fingers and turning with two fingers. I only managed to turn of all at once. Or have you managed to link a lot of very different options, so its all or nothing, even though some things are good and some are useless?

Answer:external dual monitor with thinkpad x61 tablet?

To use 2 external monitors on your X61, you will need to install an extra graphics card. Neither the X61 nor its dock will let you do that. A rather expensive solution (and probably the only one), would be to install a PC Cardbus adapter with a housing for such a card. Prices here and more info here.

I have a Tablet x61 with a primary battery that works fine and a second battery that attaches at the bottom.   The Power Management recognizes both batteries, however the secondary battery does not charge when I plug in the AC adapter to the side of the X61.  It appeared to have a partial charge when first plugged in after purchase.   The primary battery charges fine.   I've never been able to charge the secondary battery.  Both are less than a month old.   Am I missing something on setup or how to charge the battery.   I presumed that plugging in the X61 to the AC would charge both batteries at the same time. As an update to this post, when I remove the primary battery then the secondary battery charges fine.   I have to physically remove the primary battery in order to charge the secondary battery on my X61 Windows XP tablet.  When the primary battery is attached, only the primary battery charges.  Secondary Battery Model: 40Y7005Description:  X61 Extended Life BatteryO/S:  XP SP2Thinkpad Model:  X61 Tablet 7762-B6U Message Edited by ctoys on 06-25-2008 01:48 PM

So I have a resolution to the problem after switching batteries and discovering it was not related to the hardware (secondary battery.)     The fix to charge a secondary battery sitting at 0% is to remove the primary battery leaving only the secondary battery to be charged.    Once the secondary battery has fully charged, it will recharge as needed even with the primary battery attached.    In other words, once charged by itself the problem went away.

Hi all, I can see the drivers and some of the software support for Win7 64bit but after looking through some of the FAQ and online manuals I can not find a guide that details out in what order the drivers and other support software are to be reinstalled. Does one just install ThinkVantage and let it take over? Background:  This is a ThinkPad that was upgraded from 2 GB and maxed out to 8 GB and the user already tried to reinstall Windows and removed the diagnostic partition.  They managed to get everything working except that the touch screen would only work with the stylus and not finger touch.   So the assumption at this point is that a driver was installed in the wrong order or the wrong driver was installed. Best,A

Hi all, Wow,  for a premium brand Lenovo's forums are next to useless.Does no one form Lenovo actually look around in here? I have been doing more research and it seems Lenovo has no procedure for replacing the OS except to make the us pay $50 USD more for a recovery disc.  If this is not the case please enlighten me as to where I can get this or provide a recipe for installing drivers without using the recovery disc.  If that is reallythe case then eMachines seems to provide better support than Lenovo. As it stands right now tomorrow I am going to contact my rep. at CDW-G to exchange this Lenovo x201 tablet for credit.Nowhere does it say that I have to buy additional software to use a system RAM upgrade. This is really a shame but I promise that if I have to do this I will never buy or recommend a Lenovo product to my customers again.

Any help would be greatly appreciated since this is the second thinkpad yoga 14 ive gotten since the first one did the same thing and I first assumed it was a computer issue.

Answer:Getting Thinkpad Yoga 14 to work with Wacom Tablet...

Hi banana74
Welcome to the forums.

Can you please post the full model number of your TP Yoga 14? are you using Windows 10 (64bits)?

I have tried my TP Y 14 with a Wacom Bamboo and I have no problem using both, the touchscreen with the Thinkpad Pen Pro and the Wacom Bamboo with his own pen.
Maybe what we can do first is try to update the Wacom drivers of your Thinkpad Yoga from the Lenovo support site of you model.

Hi, Yesterday I bought a used X220 Tablet - the version with Gorilla Glass - and installed Windows 10 Pro (64 bit) on it.What a great little computer this is! But what disappointed me was the lack of precision of the pen that came with the tablet. Unfortunately I could not find a setting - or program - to calibrate the pen. On this forum I learned that a lot of owners have to deal with a pen that is not accurate. On one of the posts I read it was mentioned that the digitizer in the X220 Tablet is made by Wacom, so I went their website for a recent drivers. Luckily, I soon found an appropriate tool, the Wacom Hardware Check, on ftp://ftp.wacom-europe.com/pub/WINDOWS/WacomHardwareCheck.exe . After downloading and running it, I was told:"You have hardware that is compatible with the Wacom FEEL driver. You can download the latest driver here: http://www.wacom.com/feeldriver " The URL led to a file on http://cdn.wacom.com/u/drivers/TabletPC/ISD_DualTouch_732-12.exeThe file is about 24 Mb in size. After downloading and installing it, I was able to calibrate the screen, with 25(!) calibration points. Accuracy is great now; not only in landscape, but also in portrait mode! Since I found no reference on this forum to the Wacom FEEL driver in combination with the X220 Tablet running on Windows 10, I thought it might be interesting to others in this forum. Cheers!
