Preferred Solution: Sound and Button Problems after Installing Windows 7 on X200 tablet

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello I recently bought the tablet second hand. now really wish I had not. I cannot get sound out of the speakers, despite installing the sound driver from the lenovo archive for Dec 2010. I am running windows 7 ultimate. Should I just accept that I have no sound from the speaker and live with it?

Answer:X200 Tablet Windows 7 x64 no sound

Can a pro systematically go through all the options with me to try and get sound working? the bars are moving on the mixer. Is the sound now bricked, destroyed? My dad's Thinkpad T41 has no such problem, which is shocking as thinkpads are known to be reliable.

Hi,Recently, I upgraded to Windows 7. I have installed the sound driver from the Lenovo website. The sound is working fine but when I pressed on the mute button to mute the volume, I can't unmute the volume by pressing the button again. The up and down volume control can be used to unmute the volume though. Please advise. Thanks! (I have already tried to re-install the sound driver)

Answer:x200 - Sound button problem in Windows 7

Hi - I also had the same issue after installing Windows 7 and you can see my post under wjgibbs.  I became fed up waiting for a reply so contacted a telephone support line. Their response was to type in migr-73721 into google and open the first hit - which takes you to the download page for the conexant sound driver. My guess this is the same driver you had already loaded just as I already had. Anyway the upshot is this driver does allow you to mute, decrease volume and increase volume but not unmute. Also there is no onscreen graphical indication, which we had when running XP. I think this is as far as we will get on this.

Recently did an in-place upgrade from Windows 7 to 8.1 and have just about everything working except for the mute button and the connection manager (and therefore bluetooth). I tried installing the latest button driver for Windows 8 from the X200 support page, and while I did see it show up in the device manager after a restart, it made no difference. The sound also stopped working during this time. I've uninstalled the button driver and that brings the sound back, but I'd still like to get the buttons going again (and the connection manager). Any ideas? Thanks.

Answer:[X200] Mute button and bluetooth not working after installing Windows 8

After much experimentation, I have solved the problem. The issue is caused by the Hotkey Feature Integration pack not installing right. The newest version on the X200's support page (version 3.89.0100) is all screwed up (at least for Windows 8). When you try to install it, it won't even present the option of installing the all-important "system interface driver". To solve this, a couple things must be done. First, I uninstalled what I call the "ThinkPad Features Trio" - that is the Hotkey integration pack, the power management driver, and the tablet buttons driver. After uninstalling and restarting the computer, we can begin fresh. To get things working right, I installed the old Hotkey Feature Integration Pack (version 3.52, from us.driverscollection.com, watching out for fake download links of course), restarted, installed the Power Management driver, restarted, and finally installed the previous version of the tablet buttons driver that I'd been using with Windows 7 before, followed by one last restart. This combination gets all the buttons (mute, Fn+F5, tablet buttons) and OSD features working 100%. The only negative side-effect is that Windows 8 puts its own volume bar on the screen when you change the volume with the buttons, so you'll see both the native bar as well as the Lenovo one. It looks kind of funny, but they don't overlap or anything, so I'm fine with it.

I just got an X200 Tablet, replacing an X41 tablet. The little button that appears for bringing up the input panel should only appear when the screen is rotated into tablet mode, but it appears in laptop mode and won't go away. There must be a setting for this, but I can't find it. Does someone know how to set that? Thanks in advance!Mark

Answer:X200 Tablet Input Panel Button won't go away

I think this is normal behaviour for Vista (I assume your X41 had XP).  Mine is always barely visible (about 5 pixels at the left side of the screen). You can move this around (up/down, dock left/right), and it may be possible to make it go disappear (although I don't know how). Some people, myself included use the pen even when the Tablet is in landscape mode.  For this reason, it is nice to have the TIP always visible.  I find it a little annoying when I am watching a movie fullscreen, but the rest of the time I appreciate it. Ideally, it would only appear when it detects the digitizer pen, but I have no idea how to configure this.

Hello to all.I have a problem with my X200 tablet  P/N 7449-FWG which after upgraded to windows 7 does not detect the following devices:- Mobile Broadband- Wireless USB- Intel WI Max- GPS receiverAll the above where installed and functioning when the machine shipped to me last August running Vista Pro 64-bit There is another change symptom. When it worked under Vista, the machine remembered the state of wireless devices after hibernation/reboot. Now, under  Windows 7 the machine boots with bluetooth always off, and i must go to FN-F5 to activate it. All the rest seem to work perfectly.Any help would be appreciated, because i tried anything i could think of to resolve the problem. Regards  -

Answer:X200 Tablet wireless problems after upgrading to windows 7

Depending on the upgrade procedure, Windows downloads and installs some, but not all of the drivers needed for Thinkpads. The remaining drivers can be obtained from Lenovo's website for X200 Tablets at http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-70476 or more simply using Thinkvantage System Update (TVSU) that can be downloaded at  http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/TVSU-UPDATE.html. After installing, run TVSU and choose the drivers and programs needed. Note - Lenovo's Win7 upgrade kit includes a separate disk for installing Thinkvantage System Update and other Thinkpad drivers and utilities.

Question: X200 Tablet sound

Hi, My X200 Tablet's sound controll is very poor. When adjusting volume to 0, the sound is 0. But if I turn up the volum to 1, the descible level is rather high - almost jumping to a medium level of my X60 Tablet. From volume level 1 and further up to 25 the adjustment is more or less linear. This is really anoying when I want to use my computer when travelling, putting on some soft background music or other things, as there is no level that is equal to a low level volume. To get the same level of sound when having the volume adjusted to 1, that I have on my X60 Tablet, or other computers for the sake, I have to use the program interal volume control to adjust the volume as well. For watching a movie in VLC (www.videolan.org) at the same sound level "1" as for the X60 Tablet, I have to turn the X200 Tablet's volume level to 1, and the the internal volume control in VLC to 5%, instead of just leaving it at 100% as it is on the X60 Tablet. I tried to adjust the volume with the ThinkVantage buttons, the windows volume from both in the tray window and from control panel. Anyone got a clue where the problem is, and what I am doing wrong? ThinkVantage System Update should be up to date with all drivers installed I think. Best regards,OAB

Answer:X200 Tablet sound

I have now installed Windows 7 on my X200 Tablet, and after installing Windows 7 the sound issue was automatically solved. Why this was a problem on XP, I never spent enough resources to find out and remains a mystery, but it leads me to think it was problems with software / drive incompatability. It is nice to have a normal working computer, having the same or better stability as Windows XP, with the same features and more than Vista. So for you that might encounter the same problem, not finding a solution for XP, I can recommed get Windows 7 Ultimate. Br OA

Just bought an X200 Tablet. (Type 7449 FWG, Vista SP 1)Let TVSU do all the updates and I installed al my software.Everythig was fine until I noticed the speaker icon in the notification area. It had a red cross beside it.I thought it was the mute button so I pushed it again to un-mute it. Gues what? No luck. Red cross still there. Plus no sound. The laptop though beeps out of the speakers on startup so I know they work. Then I richt clicked it to open the sound properties. There was a line called: "Open Volume Mixer" I clicked on it, window opens with the note:" No audio device installed".Under Playback and recording are located the Speaker (working) and the Internal microphone (working).I tried everything. I reinstalled the Conexant driver in Normal Vista mode and in Vista SAfe Mode(Press F8 on boot). But still no sound.  By the way I also have the "An error occurred while trying to disable the beam forming feature" message. Also I get an error voor SAIICpl: "One required file is not found. The smart audio II aplication needs to be reinstalled." Of course I did this but still the same error.I know from previous experience that somtimes you have to reinstall the modem before you install the sound driver this because the modem needs the sound driver to operate properly. Is this my problem or do I have to go at this another way. So yes HOW.Message Edited by VEJ on 06-12-2009 07:52 PM

Hello,I recently purchased a X200 Tablet with Windows 7 installed, and I have some queries about some possible problems:  1. I find that when I use my digitizer pen, it becomes inaccurate quite quickly. Sometimes it can become annoying to use after and hour, or after the system is resumed from sleep or hibernation (or when restarted). This means I have to calibrate the pen around 2 to 4 times a day. However, this is not a problem when touching the screen with the finger.  2. The tip of the digitizer pen can move sideward (and slightly in and out, but I wouldn't be surprised if this is how the pen works) and although it doesn't pose a problem (other than possibly causing the problem in the 1st point?), I am wondering whether this is normal. 3. When swiveling the screen round in tablet mode, the screen clicks into place, but is not held there very firmly, i.e. I can press the screen down till it touches the keyboard, and it would bounce back up again. Again, I'm wondering whether this is normal. I'd like to point out that this is my first tablet pc, so, to put it bluntly, I have no idea if I should be worried about these things. I'm also probably a bit paranoid, as these things don't come cheap. Excuse me if these questions may seem a little trivial, but I haven't had any luck finding any answers to them

So I just bought a new X200 tablet with enhanced multitouch off ebay (model 7449 4KU), and I've been having several problems with it: 1) Sometimes, the wireless connection will disconnect and then reconnect immediately after, and this could happen once every ~3 minutes, but it doens't always happen. This makes it really difficult to dowload files and also I get disconnected from my university's vpn and have to log back on each time. This isn't a problem with my router because other computers using the wireless network are fine. I have also updated the wireless drivers to the latest version on lenovo's website. The card I have is the Intel Wifi 5100. 2) When I put my computer to sleep/hibernate/close lid, many times my computer will not resume. The only way to turn my computer back on is to hold the power button and force the computer to shut down, and then turn it back on. I have already gotten all the windows updates, and I updated the BIOS to the latest version off Lenovo's website. 3) Also, I'm finding the enhanced multitouch screen to be fairly dark, especially after applying my Photodon antiglare screen protector. Also, I've noticed that the multitouch isn't very useful as of right now. In fact, sometimes it gets in the way when the side of my hand touches the screen while I am trying to use the pen (but the pen tip is too far from the screen to be detected, but still in my hand ) Does anybody know if it's possible to pur... I have a brand new x200 tablet running win 7. latest BIOS and drivers. I have 2 very disturbing problems with sleep/wake up operation. a) Screen (mobile Intel 4 express series) stays black sometimes when waking up from sleep/hibernation. b) Intel Wifi 5300 AGN looses connection and re-connects again immediately when the computer wakes up. The problem with the WiFi does not appear if you reboot. These problems seem to affect other Thinkpad models as well. I tried a number of workarounds suggested on other threads, but none seem to fix the problem. This is very disappointing and I expect lenovo to provide a solution soon....The most disturbing thing is that since other models have the same problems, it might have to do with a motherboard defect and not a driver problem...

Answer:X200 tablet sleep/wake up problems

I'm having the same issues with my X200 (non-tablet).  Sometimes it will lock up with a black screen from sleep.  Sometimes it will lock up during the login screen.  Very frustrating. I was able to resolve my wireless connection problem by rolling back to an older driver.  I also prevented Lenovo's power management from turning off the wireless during power savings.  That seemed to fix that issue.

Hello, This is practically my last restor because I dont know who to turn to. I am encountering a strange problem with x200 Tablet. The issue is: I get beeping errors, signaling, that there is a problem with my computer (LCD, system board or DIMM, the sounds are 1 long beep and a couple of short ones after that). This happens If a device is attached to an any mPCIE port on the laptop AND if there is more than 2 GB RAM installed. If I lower my installed RAM to 2 GB, no problems occur. This proves, that there should not be any problems with mPCIE port or the device. What can I do in this situation?

I could use help with these two fingerprint issues with my X200 Tablet:1. I started using it to log into Windows 7.  But I've noticed when I now log in to Windows 7 without my fingerprint (by typing in a password), some of the icons in the icon notification tray (lower right corner) disappear.  The programs are running in the background but the icons won't appear, which is frustrating because for all 3 of the applications there, they operate by clicking the icon in the notification tray (when they disappear there's no way to activate the application).  If I log out and then back in using my fingerprints, the icons reappear. 2. For about 2 weeks I was able to use the fingerprint program to set up password access to a number of my applications like Quicken and Outlook.  This meant that when I logged into Windows with my fingerprint, I didn't have to provide a password for Quicken or Outlook (other than in the initial fingerprint set-up).  But the functionality just stopped.  I've looked at Lenovo's fingerprint application and documentation but there's no mention about it being used to store passwords for third party applications.

hey ericdierks, curious to know, if you dock the unit before switching it on .. does the same issue occur ? and is your unit's BIOS at version : 3.19 ? if not, could you update it and while doing that; drop by http://support.lenovo.com and cross-check with the drivers here and with your unit and update any/all driver/software.

I have upgraded to Windows 8 64 bit on my X61 Tablet, however I cannot get the tablet buttons, hotkeys, or auto-rotation to work. I've been playing around with Windows 8 since the developers preview.  I've ran it on a lot of older systems.  Getting things to work will require some experimentation on your part.

You can start with your Driver Matrix.  There you can find the Hotkeys Utility for Windows 8.  You will also need the Power Manager Driver for Windows 8.  Not Power Manager,  just the Power Manager Driver.

Run Windows Update, it will probably find some stuff.  Some Windows 7 drivers will work, others won't.

I'm running Windows 8 Pro on an x60 tablet and everything works fine.  I also have it on an x61 non-tablet and it runs fine. I had to do a lot of messing around with stuff to get them to work right though.

Just make sure that you set system restore points before changing anything so you can get back what you had before, just in case something doesn't work right.  And, only install one thing at a time and reboot and test it out thoroughly before you install something else.

Good luck with this,

Dave

On the ThinkCentre M92z (3311B3U) with Windows 7 Enterprise, after the initial login if a user logs out we get the "Ctrl + Alt + Delete or use Windows Security Button to login". I would like to find a way to disable this. I have tried going to the tablet buttons, but it doesn't exist. I've searched all of the M92z Documents without success and am unable to find any useful ways to Disable this message. Windows suggested The manufacture has drivers that controls these features but have been unsuccessful in finding any drivers that relate to this issue. If possible I'd just like to have this disabled.

Hello everyone,I want to get a x200 tablet (7453-AH3) just for programming classes, but wonder whether x200 will run VS2013 with win8.1 well, such as response speed, smooth or not, a lot lags or not, etc.. Also, will OneNote work well on it? Could anyone give some comments/suggestions/ideas on this? If I put a SSD in, will that make it better? If not, is that possible to upgrade X200 tablet motherboard & CPU to make it better? Any help would be appreciate!

Answer:Will X200 tablet run VS2013 and Windows 8.1 well?

Welcome to the forum!

I'm not a programmer so I can't comment on VS2013, but I can tell you my own X200T is running Win8.1 perfectly fine, I'm using a two year old Plextor SSD and 8 GB RAM. I haven't experienced any lag or slow performance with my daily couch surfing activities or the occasional HD movie watching on the road.

Recieved my brand new loaded x200 tablet last month and since then I've been having issues with sleeping. For whatever reason, only some of the time, when I try to put the tablet into sleep, it simply won't. The status lights will remain as they were, the screen will go black, and nothing will remove it from this state. The only option is to pull the battery or hold the power switch till it powers off completely. I updated to the newest intel 4500 drivers (newer than lenovo's page) for graphics, and double checked that every other driver was current. I also saw mention of intel virtualization stuff causing issues, but changes haven't fixed it. I'm having a hard time diagnosing it as it doesn't even seem to appear in the windows system logs. Specs are: X200 Tablet with Win 7 enhanced experience, multi finger multi touch display, L9400 with 4GB ram, webcam, fingerprint, 5inone card reader with modem, 5400 rpm 160gb hdd, not anywhere near the ultrabase when this happens.

Answer:X200 tablet with windows 7 fails to sleep

I have precisely the same problem. It happens randomly when I try to sleep or hibernate the tablet. Happens when either docked to the ultrabase or not. Very frustrating that I can't trust the laptop to sleep when I need it to.

Answer:x200 Tablet buttons not working Windows 7

Hey Zebra, I recently had an rtfm moment with this issue.  I had installed and reinstalled the Tablet Button Drivers... or so I thought.   Checkout the readme for the driver.  After you double click the .exe, it looks as if it installs, but all that does is extract the files to a folder on the HD.   Probably here C:\DRIVERS\WIN\TBBTN unless you changed it.  Go there and click setup.exe.... you'll have to reboot when it is done.  HTH

The touch device on our x200 tablets has always been called Wacom Serial Pen Tablet.  Works fine in XP.  I'm trying to get one working with Windows 7 now.  The "multitouch" driver from Lenovo doesn't work (I don't think these tablets are multitouch anyways) and the driver straight from Wacom results in a BSOD.  The "Wacom Serial Pen Tablet" driver apparently comes with Windows 7, because it's there if I manually choose a driver.  I once got it to work forcing it to use that driver, but now after reinstalling again it just says the device cannot start.  Any ideas?

I am trying to work on OBD2 bluetooth car dongles and, because of traditional Windows difficulties with phantom serial port retention, I needed to find a machine with little in the way of features that could confuse me by having many serial ports already in use. I also wanted to use Windows 10 to look at its enhanced features eg bluetooth in Microsoft Message Analyser. My old X200T looked ideal. It worked perfectly in W7 and provided pen and single touch, thus being ideal for working in the front seat of a vehicle. The update to W10 went well, and the pen works fine, but single touch does nothing. At one stage in thrashing about with drivers, I had it working on the touch calibration on-screen "targets", but it did nothing when I touched the on-screen touch pads. Even that has now stopped working. I think the problem may be related to the fact that Microsoft is telling me that it has Pen and Touch support with 2 Touch points. If I uninstall everything related to Wacom and reboot, Pen disappears, but Touch with 2 touch points always comes back. Has anyone else seen this and found a workaround?

Dear community, I found my screen starts flickering not long after I upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10 on my thinkpad x200 tablet. It happens especially when I have an external monitor connected to the laptop and when I maximize a Microsoft Edge brower on screen. Scrolling the mouse will trigger the lines on a page flickering back and forth or partially disappeared. This is really annoying when I want to scroll down a little bit to find some useful information. I have tried to use the "sfc /scannow" command to identify potential problems and to reinstall compatible Thinkpad graphics and video drivers, but no luck. I have also tried other solutions that I can find online (like disabling the issue reporting service), yet still this problem persists. I contacted Microsoft for their assistance, and they suggest me to ask the manufacture to solve this problem. Does anyone know how to fix this problem? Thanks,Qi

Click on the ?Services? tab. 3 Scroll down and find two services named ?Problem Reports and Solution Control Panel ?and ?Windows Error Reporting Service?. If you have difficulty finding these two services then you click on ?Service? column header in the table. This will alphabetically arrange all the services. 4. Uncheck these two services. I have an X200 tablet running Windows 7. If a USB device is plugged in (mouse, drive etc) and the notebook enters sleep mode after some time (as defined in the  power plan), an attempt to awaken it results in a notebook hang. The notebook appears to wake up but the login screen is never displayed. The screen remains blank. The power plan has the "USB selective suspend setting" disabled but the same issue occurs even when this setting is enabled. I have deleted the USB drivers and reinstalled them. All MS and Thinkpad drivers and updates are current. Has anyone else encountered the same issue? Greatly appreciate any feedback on remediation methods. Thanks.

Hi, harddisk usage problems on backup and restore as this is so important after a new OS has been upgraded. The case:1. Re-installed a clean Vista to the X-200 Tablet before upgrading the PC to Windows 7, hoping that the new Windows-7 would be clean & more robust rather than working with a lot of old Vista applications and files. 2.  Installed Office Enterprise for testing basic keys and button functions with Windows 7. 3. Went to Control panel and clicked "Backup and Restore" to do a manual backup just in case the system crashes as we have to separately install a lot of drivers (good luck)  to the machine under the new Windows 7 (this is a problem prone operation) to make the control and buttons work again. 4.  There are three drive partitions in all after the upgrade (the harddisk has a virgin 300GB total space) :-         (a)  SW_Preload C: used - 56.4GB (only Windows 7 and Microsoft Office Enterprise installed)                                          free - 220GB                                &n... Dear Lenovo support staff  / community, I just purchased a brand-new X200 and the pen / touch / tablet feature works out-of-the-box with its pre-installed Windows Vista 64-bit OS.  Because the applications I intend to use the Tablet with do not support Vista 64-bit (namely, Dragon Systems), I used the Windows XP Tablet Edition SP-2 Product Recovery Disc kit that came with the Lenovo tablet, and followed the conversion instructions included in the booklet down to the letter. However, when it converted the OS to Windows XP, the pen / touch functionality is completely gone, and I am unable to find any help online, or in Lenovo product support when called in. Installing the Multitouch drivers on the Lenovo support site for X200 drivers does not work, and installing the WACOM drivers does nothing either. I can confirm this is most likely a 100% repro case, as I have two brand new X200 Tablets and the same behavior is exhibited on both. Please advise.

So I upgraded to Windows 10, everything works out, but I noticed from Matlab that the OpenGL support is only on the version of 1.1. I further pocked around , and found the graphics accelerator driver is from Microsoft and has some known issues (from Matlab). Then I downloaded the Intel Driver Update Utility to update the graphics driver, but nothing can be found there. Back to Windows 7, the Intel Driver works fine for me and gave OpenGL ~2.2 support. Does anyone knows better drivers in Windows 10 than the default Microsoft one? Thanks in advance.

My x200 laptop suddenly shut down without warning. I had to remove the battery and power and then reconnect them to get it to reboot. At first it made popping sounds as it rebooted and then there were static sounds. I've rebooted several times now, and it went from static to a hissing sound once rebooted. Now during the reboot there's slight static and once rebooted a low level static if I don't mute the sound. None of my sounds work. When I check them in the control panel, I just get a static sound in their place, and I think that the static I heard when rebooting was actually the replacement for the Windows starup wav. Any thoughts about what's happening and how to fix it? Thanks.

You said you can get to the safe mode, so the problem is not the keyboard. If you have other thinkpad around you, try to get a Recovery Disk (Only 1 CD Disc) of RnR and try to boot from there.

Try going to CMOS (BIOS Setup) when the computer starts, and confirm Sound is enabled

Try going to Safe Mode Device Manager (View- show all files) and remove all sound drivers already installed

Restart, hopefully you are given a plug and play prompt

I have not confirmed the drivers, but I take it, that you have the correct drivers for that M/B and Win98

I received our first X1 Tablet this week and have found an issue related to this device's lack of a hardware Windows Button.  My organization's standard group policy enforces CTRL-ALT-DEL at login. When working in tablet mode (without the hardware keyboard connected), there doesn't seem to be a way to get past the CTRL-ALT-DEL screen. On previous tablet devices, like the Lenovo Helix 2, you would simultaneously press the Power + Windows Button to replicate the CTRL-ALT-DEL entry.   I've tried pressing Power + the volume control keys (since those are the only other hardware buttons), but that doesn't do anything.  Apparently Microsoft uses Power + Volume-up on the Surface Pro 4 in order to solve this issue. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get around this other than disabling the security standard requirement?  Does Lenovo have a driver or firmware update that can be installed to make the volume controls perform this task, like the Surface Pro 4 does?

Hi,. the particular model of my x200 is 7453-FJ9. I bought it from ebay and the seller claimed is was multi-touch. After checking on the Levono support page where you identify the machine features through the model # above, it does not mention anything about being touch capable let alone multitouch. However, since I installed a new copy of windows 7 pro 64-bit on a new hdd, after installing all of the automated lenovo and windows updates, I checked the system properties and it states 'Pen and Single Touch Input Available' as shown in my system properties screen below.

Link to picture

I have tried to use the single touch input but it does not seem to be working. I have tried calibrating touch input though the screen calibration and it has not worked. I have looked at the HCI devices in the device manager and it shows 'Wacom Penabled MiniDriver','Bluetooth Remote Control', 'HID Compliant Consumer Control Device' and several repeated entries of 'HID-compliant device' but nothing about touch input !

I don't understand what is going on, do you think this tablet has touch input available ? Should I try install the touch driver on the lenovo website ? the wacom website ? or am i just wasting my time thinking it has touch input since it is not mentioned on the 7453-FJ9 lenovo support page (that I can see). Any advice on this would be kindly appreciated..

I recently picked up an HP Pavilion XL866 from a friend who has no use for it anymore. I installed Win98 SE and want to use the machine for old CD-ROM games. I easily got the video drivers installed and working, but am stumped on the sound drivers. The chip is a Crystal Audio AC'97 compatible device, and after much searching I managed to find 3 different sets of drivers that might work.

The first set I came across is in a folder named "CSAC97" that contains a set of VXD drivers. I ran setup and restarted the machine, and the device now appears as "Crystal Audio Codec" in Device Manager with an exclamation icon. The dialogue says the device is not working properly or may be missing drivers. I updated the drivers using the same directory and Windows found a INF file. This time I was told the installation is successful, yet the device can't be used for audio I/O. I restart, and I'm back where I was before with the "improperly working" Crystal Audio Codec device.

The second set of drivers I have is in a folder named "ALC850" and contains drivers by Realtek. I run setup, restart, and now the device appears as such:

I view properties and see this:

This is as far as I get with the second set of drivers I found, with the system sound device still unusable. As for the third set, it's a self-extracting archive, "WDM_A406.EXE." I start it, it unpacks everything to a directory, and setup starts. Jus... Read more

Hi

first time user to forums so forgive me if I miss anything that is relevant to topic

Have a problem:
I want to upgrade my OS from vista ultimate to Windows 7
When I put in the disk it goes through all the sequences of a clean install but when all the files are copied over it does the reboot and comes up with an error

Missing driver.....
I find out after reading several other forums that it uses a SATA config for the hard drives and there is no driver set on the install disk

Now my issue is:
a) Where exactly is the hard drive driver I need
b) How do I put it on a Windows 7 ultimate install disk?

Appreciate any help I can get

Thank you in advance.

Answer:Installing Windows 7 on the Satellite X200

Hey Grail,

The driver that you need is called Intel Storage Manager. You can download it on the Toshiba page or from Intel directly. You can copy the files on a USB stick for example, it should be possible to load them from USB stick.

Furthermore Windows 7 isn?t released as yet and in worst case you have to wait until driver support starts for Windows 7. At the moment you can only try to use the Vista drivers.

Hi, I recently purchased this, which had been reset to factory default bythe seller (Windows 8). I immediately updated it to the Anniversary version of Windows 10 but I have noticed that the Windows LogoButton on the tablet does not appear to be working, when I pressthe area there is no response.(Must admit I didn't try it before I updated the OS). I believe there should be a vibration when the "button" is pressedand I know the vibrator is working as it works when I turn the system on/off. Is there a specific driver for this or is it packaged with somethingelse? Thanks for any advice

I think I have a faulty X230T, there are now only three tablet buttons and the middle does not do anything. I have installed 7wg737.exe (tablet short menu for Win7), but it does nothing. When I go into Tablet PC setting>buttons, only one button shows up and that's the screen rotation button.  Is there a way to assign the middle button to shortcut menu? Otherwise I'm unable to change brightness or volumn during tablet mode which would make this tablet unusable.

Update (March 10) - This seems to be a problem others have had, but no solutions yet. See the Microsoft Forum post...

I have had some difficulty installing the drivers for the automatic rotation function for the Samsung Series 7. It worked fine with the developer preview, but I did a clean install of the Consumer preview, and I am no longer able to install it.

I downloaded the windows 7 drivers (Motion_Sensor_1.7.9.7) and ran using the Windows 7 compatibility. The software appeared to instal, but the device manager shows that it is not working, and the status indicates that Windows cannot load the drivers required.

To make this a bit more mysterious, I can't uninstall the drivers since the uninstall program kicks off an error that the program cannot run because it is awaiting a reboot. I have rebooted several times, but this does not appear to be a real issue.

My question is if anyone has encountered this sort of trouble, and what work-arounds might have worked. The other question is whether there is a particular registry entry to look for to unlock the 'waiting for reboot' issue?

Thanks for any help!

I'm looking to buy an X200 tablet for school this fall, but I'm curious about the Trusted Platform Module (TPM).  I'm not a big fan of having TPM on my personal use equipment, thought I do see the advantages in a managed IT infrastructure.  According to the maintenance manual there are motherboards available both with and without the "security chip"/TPM feature, but purchasing one separately is a joke (US$1,400 or more) considering the cost of the base unit itself.  When customizing a unit on the Lenovo store there is no option for purchasing without a TPM.  The tacover.pmd document lists the TPM as being integrated into the ICH9M chip, which is the reason for needing a whole separate motherboard to get a unit without a TPM. Long story short, is it possible to have Lenovo build me a unit with a non-TPM motherboard? Thanks in advance.

Answer:X200 tablet available without TPM?

you can switch off the feature in the BIOS, it would probably cost the same regardless.... but unless you have a large order of some sort, these sort of things are not negotiable on a single build basis.

Question: X200 Tablet Help

Hi. I am having troubles with my lenovo x200 tablet running windows 7 32-bit.Last night it was working fine but this morning i turned it on and went into windows but i cannot log on because it goes to sleep automatically every 5 seconds or so. The 4 indicator lights are also flashing instead of staying still like the wireless and bluetooth indicator light if that makes a difference. Help is appreciated. Thank you in advance =)

Answer:X200 Tablet Help

It sounds like the notebook is low in power, either the battery has no charge or is not holding charge (old/defective). If it's plugged in  AC outlet already, then possibly computer hardware issue. Please refer to page 23 in the "Service and Troubleshooting Guide". You might need to have your unit serviced.

I am considering buying a Thinkpad Tablet. Of the available models the ones that come with a 2.13GHz processor are the two X200 models (NRS93GE and NRT9RGE). As far as I can see, as opposed to the X61 models, the thinkpad X200 tablet models do *not* come with a "digitizer pen".  Can one still use them to take notes? How does one write on them?

I'm in the market for a new notebook, and I've really become enamored with the X200 tablet. Well, actually it was the X301 that first caught my eye, but it's just not fully-featured enough for me. Too bad, as I really liked the weight and the WXGA+ on a 13.3" display. Anyway, I'm a Windows applications developer, and I'm trying to determine the X200 tablet's suitability for my needs. As a programmer, I can always make use of additional display resolution, but I've simulated some WXGA screenshots on a 12.1" display, and I'm thinking it could work for me. I'd appreciate it if others could chime in here with what they use their own X200 tablet for on a regular basis and how well it performs and displays those tasks. Thanks.

Answer:What do you use your X200 tablet for?

Hi Rich, I use my X200 Tablet for everything and cannot say enough good things about it. I wear many hats right now Director of IT, Student, and believe or not I take it to church. I take my tablet everywhere! Currently I'm taken a Marketing class and DB design class and use it for notes and for MS Access running on windows 7 BETA. I have owned the all the X series tablets since the x41 which still run. Some of the problems I run into with DB design is the smaller screen but really it is not a huge factor because I'm in class when I'm at work I use the dock with 24" widescreen. I take my tablet to meetings, give presentations, and use it in place on my desktop. The only thing I would caution against is the process power for your type of development. For example it does not encode video as fast as a desktop but it can do it better than other notebooks in it's class. If you need speed and screen size try the W700 series with WACOM digitizer pad.  What I like most about the X series tablets is it's lightweight portability, performance, wireless options, and durability. I have download 50 eBooks, several text books, and read the electronic versions of eweek and love the annotate on them. If fact my wife makes fun me when I take it to the bathroom for reading materials. I can say that the tablet has changed the way I function in daily life. My wife is a Direct of IT as well and I finally got her to use a tablet with the same results.  The la... Read more

Hi:I'm looking at purchasing the X200 tablet. I'm looking at the SL9600 offering as well as some of the other whistles and bells. What I am curious about is if there is any intention to replace the VGA port with a digital video interface such as HDMI as well as if there are any plans for a touch pad mouse. I'd hate to buy now just to have the VGA port replaced with HDMI next month. Also, I keep coming across all the different model numbers. Is there any good reference as far as the model numbers. I saw a posting here from last year with similar questions as mine and thought to get it updated.Any advisement on planned upgrades to the X200 in the near term by Lenovo would be appreciated and help me determine when to pull the trigger. Thanks

Assuming the specimens that failed were distributed across a broad range of users that weren't  in the vicinity of the same EMP then the law of quantities and percentages seems particularly visccious in this case. We purchase in lots of 25 and just sourced 75 hingers and 75 tablets and of varying Type's and didn't have a single DoA nor failure in the last  month. The reason we keep buying the most expensive laptop made is we know the quality can be assumed and the service can be assured, if you're geting bad service for any reason than expect swarms of assistance from the mod employees here determined to rectify your issues and ensure you choose Thinkpad for your next round of gear.

Please go here: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/product-and-parts/partsLookup.page You'll then need to enter your machine type, which is a 4 digit code on the bottom of the laptop. Try to identify the screen and post the resuts here. My 2 cents...

Which OS are you using on the X200t? There is the recovery partition on the hdd, which allows you to recover the system to the factory condition (which reinstalls the OS + driver), you can burn the recovery media from windows provided you have the usb dvd/cd burner or the ultrabase with the ultrabay dvd/cd burner.

I've got an x200 tablet that doesn't do so well as a tablet.I've gotten everything from the dreaded blue screen when the pen is touched to it,  to it being totally unresponsive to pen input. Everything but the tablet issue seems to work fine. Hasn't been dropped, smashed or had any liquids poured on it. Also has (had?) an obnoxious amount of antivirus/spyware/ect. software.Downloaded every driver, went back to several restore points and even took it all the way back to its out of the box state with recovery disks.Took it into the tech/repair center at my university. They had it for three weeks and didn't know what to do with it either...It's still under warranty, but even if it's not somehow covered I'd much rather pay repair costs than buy a new computer. So what the heck do I do with it now? Send it back to the company? (Really resisting the urge to set it on fire.)

Answer:x200 not being much of a tablet

Which O/S are you running?   I have an X200T (7448-CTO) and, after about 1.5 years under Vista, it started to develop severe flakiness (e.g. frequent IE and Office app crashes) although the tablet functionality was still working OK.  I finally decided to bite the bullet and  install Windows 7 fresh (not an upgrade over Vista).  The process that Win7 uses is interesting in that it places the previous (Vista) Windows directory in something called Windows.old.   It does not reformat the drive nor does it delete any other directories on C:/.  That process worked great for me (NB was/is virus free) although, in your case, I wonder if it wouldn't be smarter to relocate all of your documents and settings (e.g. favorites, contacts) to another storage medium and, quite literally, reformat the entire hard drive before installing a new O/S.  After Win7 has completed, install the Lenovo ThinkVantage Toolbox and it will perform all of the driver upgrades which, in my case, went near flawlessly.   All of my peripheral worked right away including the tablet functionality.  I did have to recalibrate the pen/tablet and work through the handwriting recognition training, but those tasks are only tedious, not difficult.  The only small issue I had, initially, was a SmartAudio driver error which, somehow, fixed itself.    I know that some people have reported issues with Win7/Thinkpad compatibility, but I can only report a comp... Just received an old 4GB X200 tablet with Windows 10 Pro via eBay to use for browsing.   I've found it quite fast and love the keyboard.  Old tech, but better than a lot of newer equipment.  And at $79 delivered, no way to lose, and it is very similar to my favorite T420. As it uses a 2.5" HDD, i am thinking about switching to an SSD (as I have with my T420).  I understand that the X200 uses Sata 2 and was wondering how others have found performance when doing this with an X200. I've found no problems with drivers so far, but are there more desirable ones than the Microsoft ones in Windows 10 for graphics, etc.?

Hello everybody, I would need your help on the following:

I know lot of posts describe parts of what to do (I spent sometimes on then), but I would like to limit at maximum the risks so I am looking for the most simple and exhaustive guideline for this change.

Why XP? Just because I run lot of astronomy hardware and software, and, well, Vista is not ready yet...
I am happy with Vista for other uses so I will keep it, install XP on the second hard drive and make a dual boot.

First fear: will I have all the appropriate drivers to jump?
I run a Satellite X200 20G PSPB9E-02G021FR and I have found on the Toshiba support site "some" drivers for XP, but it looks as if the display (at least) is missing...

==> 1) could you pls give me a link to a page which lists all the drivers for my specific system?
==> 2) could you pls point me to a post which describes the steps to follow?
==> 3) it looks as if nLite is the right choice to make the XP installation CD, but I assume I could not just launch it under Vista and capture my drivers for XP, is this right?

Thank you very much for your help
Guy

Answer:Installing a second operating system (Windows XP) on a Satellite X200 20G

Hi

You are right. It looks like the display driver is not available because the XP seems to be not supported officially. It?s strange.
Maybe you could try the graphic drivers from 3rd party websites like www.omegadrivers.net or www.laptopvideo2go.com.
But I really don?t know if such drivers would work therefore you can install it at your own risk.

Anyway? back to the other questions;
> ==> 1) could you pls give me a link to a page which lists all the drivers for my specific system?
The Toshiba European driver page (I assume you known it) provides all XP drivers (except the display driver ;) ).

> ==> 2) could you pls point me to a post which describes the steps to follow?
On the European driver page you will find the installation instruction .txt file too ;)
You have to install all drivers in the order mentioned in this doc.

> ==> 3) it looks as if nLite is the right choice to make the XP installation CD, but I assume I could not just launch it under Vista and capture my drivers for XP, is this right?
Hmm? I think the nLite should run under Vista too. So you could create your own XP Cd using the nLite software (but you will need the original Win XP CD too). Using the nLite you could include the Intel Storage Manager driver which is necessary and important. Without this driver the XP will not see the HDD!

Good luck

Hi all, I'd be really grateful for some help here. I recently did a factory rest on my HP Envy dv7 notebook but am having trouble re-installing Windows 10. Before I do this I was told I need to update from Windows 8 to 8.1 and then onto Windows 10. However I am unable to updaten from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1 as I cannot get all the drivers installed. For some reason I am unable to install the HP Wireless Button Driver. Whenever I try to do download via Windows Update from the Control Panel, it downloads and after the install shows an error code 80070436. I'm unable to get this driver installed and so cannot update to Windows 8.1. I did try to update to 8.1 without the driver but when my laptop restarted it got stuck at 82%. I'd be grateful if anyone could give me any advice or help to get this sorted as I seem to keep hitting a brick wall. Many thanks, Ian :-)

Answer:Having problems installing HP Wireless Button Driver

Hi, Ian: If you had previously upgraded to W10 and it was successfully activated, you can clean install W10 without having to upgrade from W8, 8.1 and on to W10. Just boot from the W10 installation media you made, and there will be two choices...enter a product key (which you don't have) and there will be an option to select 'I don't have a product key.' You select the I don't have a product key option and W10 will install and automatically activate once you are reconnected to the internet. Then if you still need the wireless button driver, use the one for W10... This package provides the driver for the HP Wireless Button on supported models running a supported operating system. HP Wireless Button allows the physical (hardware) wireless radio button on the system to enable and disable the wireless connection on the system. File name: sp71829.exe If you did not make a copy of the W10 installation media, you can do so from the link below (media creation tool). http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

Answer:X200 running windows 7 and have no sound

Hi and welcome to the forum!

Sometimes when you install lenovo or Windows drivers on top of each other, they usually cause issues like these, check Windows update history to verify that isn't the case. Do you see any yellow marks in device manager?

Other suggestion I can think of is making certain that the hardware button or the one that resides in the Windows' taskbar isn't set to mute, check on both.

Booting from LiveCD of linux distro such as Ubuntu is another way to verify whether hardware or software is at fault.

Keep us informed.

First question, how many processes your machine has. Click Ctrl+Shift+esc, then go to process tab, you will see how many processes your system has. You may like to disable something like Antivirus, Windows Defender, Diskeeper if you have. You should see a significant improvement by turn these 3 off.

I recently purchased a brand new x200 tablet.  Soon after it arrived, one of the USB ports failed (front, right).  I sent it back for repairs and was told they changed out the entire motherboard to resove the issue.  When I received my computer, I found that the port was working fine. Now, two weeks later, the exact same USB port has failed again.  I called Lenovo and was told they would have to change the motherboard again. I have owned many, many laptops previously (including Thinkpads) without any issues.  I must say, it is quite aggravating to have to always send my computer in for repair, as it means I have to transfer all my data and programs to another computer to use, then transfer it back again.   And what concerns me the most is that their seems to be no solution to this USB port issue.  Should I just leave it be and use the computer minus one USB port?

The two problems I am having are: The display gets skrewed up from time to time. Here is a screenshot to show what's happening. The second problem is with the pen. My model only supports the pen input. I installed sketchbook pro, but I can't get the pressure sensitivity to work. I've searched a lot for this and have found a few old posts. But, what is currently the best solution to this problem?

Answer:Two questions about the x200 tablet

To diagnose the display skrewed issue, I would suggest you to please update the Bios of your notebook from the below mentioned web link.http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles/7wuj44us.exe

Regarding the sketchbook pro software, It might be compatibilty issue with digitizer driver. Kindly uninstall it and check it works fine.

Hi, I bought my Lenovo X200 Tablet recently in the US as a WWAN ready laptop. I now moved to the UK and I want to start using mobile broadband. I understand I need to order a 3G mini-card to actually allow WWAN.However, before I order this part, I have a few questions: - Does the card work with XP as well (since it only gives Vista as supported system)?- How does the GPS feature in this laptop work: is the receiver on the WWAN card, or does it need WWAN (e.g. through an external dongle modem) to be accesible? (this is one of the cool features I really would like to use)- Does the card work with any SIM or only with Vodafone?- What is the maximum speed supported? 7.2 MBit? Thanks very much in advance, Floris

Answer:X200 Tablet and WWAN

Hi, I can answer a little about the card/GPS.  You do have a sim (or you should) and if you pull out the battery you will see it on the left.  You also should have had a little plastic card that contain the sim included with your order. The webpage for the wireless WAN  says that its also compatible with XP and at the bottom of the page it says world wide.  You will have to verify/try this.  Be sure to have the other programs installed as well for the card.  Now I did go to this webpage and tried this driver but nothing change.  It doesn't say specifically for the tablet but  again nothing changed.  The gps is internal (I don't have to attach anything to get it to work.  The program is ultra basic; there are no option or features to change except is the application that takes your coordinates and displays your location. The default on mine is Google maps. Be aware that you cannot have the GPS Enabler getting satellite data and be online.  The card  turns off the wireless and turns on the WAN.   I'm not sure about the last questions you asked but maybe somebody will fill it in. Update:  From what I have heard you should be able to use any sim, though I haven't tried with mine.  Anfrom the datasheet on the WAN card it says 7.2 MBit DL / 2.0MBit UL.Message Edited by MB on 02-19-2009 09:23 PM

Hi folks, I have a x200 tablet. It's pretty nice but the speakers suck big time on it. I use external speakers with it for decent sound but it's not a mobile solution i.e. I cant always carry the speakers with me. So I am looking to replace the speaker kit in this machine with something nicer. My research indicates the part no. is 45N3134. How do I find compatible but better speakers for this machine? NOTE: I dont want to simply replace the existing kit with the same one. I wan't something better - perhaps altec lansing?
