X61t Rotation and Tablet Keys not working in Tablet mode Windows 7 (64bit)

Question: X61t Rotation and Tablet Keys not working in Tablet mode Windows 7 (64bit)

Hi all, I have recently upgraded to windows 7 (64bit) and now when I put my tablet into tablet mode, the screen doesn't autorotate and none of the tablet buttons work. In order to rotate the screen I have to right click on the desktop and choose graphic properties/rotation.Interestingly if I press the tablet buttons while in tablet mode and then rotate the screen up to notepad mode within a few seconds the button will perform its function (rotate screen, activate tablet shortcut menu, etc). Does anyone know how to fix this problem? I've tried running system update (4.0) to no avail. Cheers

Preferred Solution: X61t Rotation and Tablet Keys not working in Tablet mode Windows 7 (64bit)

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

ISSUE:screen goes dark/blank upon rotation to tablet modescreen dark/blank when stated in tablet mode IN GENERAL: when running in laptop mode -> attempt to rotate to tablet mode -> screen goes dark/blank once the screen is approximately 6"s from the point at which it would lock in place in tablet mode it does not matter where the hinge is within the 180 deg rotation, i.e.,  from laptop to tablet position the problem occured sporadically, it is now virtually 100% THE HELP WE ARE ASKING FOR: 1- means for determining whether the issue is hardware related or software related, troubleshooting & resolution [some threads unrelated to this issue have eluded to a physical switch within the hinge, while others have suggested software related issues related to screen orentation]  We appreciate your help, swrdfsh the machine at issue is:X61T, 7764CTO, factory Win XP tablet

Answer:X61T XP -> screen blank on rotation to tablet mode

Since there have not been postings on drivers/settings related to blank screen and rotation, I would assume it is hardware related and deserves a visit to a service center.   The service center will fix the problem either way.   The software related to the screen rotation normally changes the screen only after full rotation and as you start to lower the lid from laptop to tablet.   If your screen goes blank (instead of rotating) as you lower the lid, it is possibly related to software.   Might also check your presentation mode and screen settings under the Tablet Shortcut Menu, if you have changed any of these setting from their default.

First time user here, So I bought a Thinkpad X61 tablet online with Windows 10 (64-bit) installed. I tried installing multitouch drivers from the support page and Wacom's site, rebooted so many times after installing them but to no avail. Using the stylus nor the buttons on the monitor aren't working. Then, I uninstalled them. Do I have to downgrade to Windows 7 in order for it to work? Or what else should I do to get the touchscreen working?

Answer:X61T - Tablet mode not working?

There won't be Lenovo drivers for windows 10, so you are sort-of on your own with that model.  Are you saying that the stylus isn't sensed or that the screen doesn't rotate?

I have a Portege M700 and when I turn it into tablet mode the rotation button quits working.
It works when it in laptop mode.

I have the rotation utility set to go into secondary landscape and its no longer switching and the button on the front of the screen will not switch it anymore either.
I can go into the rotation software and rotate it manually.

Any suggestions on how to get the button functioning again?

Oh and I am running Vista Business with SP 2.

Any help would be appreciated.

[UPDATE]ahahahahhahaI just found the solution xD It's so **bleep** stupid that it makes me feel stupid! All you need to do is to open the driver folder (default directory "C:\DRIVERS\WIN\UNAVUTIL") then right click on "wstbtnib.inf" and press Install and restart. That's it! It looks like the setup can't do it by it self under windows 8.I can't believe nobody never tried it! I saw guides on guides about remapping and stuff. They just work now! (I restarted multiple times and played with it a little, all works). I tried with 2 different installations and it worked for both. I just got an ssd and decided to upgrade my x61t to windows 8 for several reasons.I discovered that if I upgrade from win 7 everything works but the tablet buttons don't. The funny thing is that when I tried to install win8 on the old hhd win7 installation they worked! But when I tried again win7->win8 they didn't. So it might be something that the new installation missed. Is there a way to make the driver work properly? And most of all, is it a driver issue or is the utility program that translate the buttons? The thing is that they can work with no issue on win8, so what are the dependencies? It's not .net or visual c++. Any idea? Any suggestion to make my thinkpad work at 100%?&n... Read more

Hey all, I have a weird problem.  My tablet buttons have stopped working-- but only in tablet mode.  That is, I can't rotate, or bring up the tablet shortcuts, or move around the screen in tablet mode.  Also autorotate doesn't work.  But if I switch out of tablet mode, I can do all of these things just fine (except for autorotate). Also, when I switch into tablet mode the screen doesnt rotate or anything, but when I switch out of tablet mode the screen rotates to the direction I defined in the settings (sometimes.. to be honest it seems pretty random to me).  I am running 32 bit vista w/ 4 gb ram on an x61 tablet with the latest drivers.  I have uninstalled the tablet button drivers and the lenovo system interface and reinstalled them already.. I have the latest APS. Help me out here.. I have no idea why this isn't working!  Don't make me have to reinstall vista to get the buttons working.. Tha'ts ridiculous!!  Arrrgh.

You have to get into Tablet shortcut menu setting and do it all first. For the rest, uninstalled all ThinkPad Tablet Button Driver, ThinkPad Tablet shortcut menu then restar and reinstall vis System Update. Just let it find for you; that's the only thing I could recommend for this case.

Does anyone have any idea what can cause this problem? I tried to install new OS, both XP & Vista both from scratch and recovery disc, but it still doesn't work. Usually when switching to tablet mode or switching back, screen will automatically set to new orientation, right? I suspected a while ago that when I switched to tablet mode, it didn't change any, but when I switched back, it changed. I thought I was messing up with some utilities or drivers. So, I didn't care that much. I just noticed that it didn't respond to anything now. As a result, ActiveRotate will not work as well since it will be used only in tablet mode. However,  I can calibrate accelerometer just fine; active protection also is working as it should be. Tablet button all work. In brief, I believe that there is a switch that is broken on my system, but I couldn't figure out what that is. I check on LCD part, http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-67024, I first thought LCD hinge is the one, but there is no wire connection or any sort to it. Now I have no clue. If you have any idea, please share. Thank you very much,sipp11Message Edited by sipp11 on 03-03-2009 10:59 PM

Hello sipp11! I have the exact same problem. I'm using Windows 7 Beta as OS and since January everything has worked perfectly. Unfortunately the tablet mode has stopped working the way you described it 2 days ago. Have you found a solution to this problem? I also tried to reinstall Windows 7, but it still doesn't work. Reinstalling the Wacom drivers didn't help either.   I'm starting to think that something with the hardware is wrong. Solution anyone???  Thanks in advance,Mike Message Edited by LevelbossMike on 04-02-2009 03:09 AM

I have a Cherry Mobile Alpha Morph that works without problems aside from the fact that, when I undock it from the keyboard, it doesn't detect that it should now be in Tablet Mode. I have to manually go to the Action Center and toggle it there. Same with docking it back. I have already checked my settings and I didn't disable Tablet Mode either.

Anyone have an idea how I can resolve this? I just want to seamlessly dock and undock the tablet and it should switch to tablet or desktop mode respectively.

I don't know if it's relevant but the OS is Windows 10 Home Single Language.

I have upgraded my X201 Tablet to Windows 10 32bit. As far as I can tell, everything is working, including the WACOM drivers and touchscreen.  Wireless has worked perfectly so far, not sure about Bluetooth as I don't use it. My only issue is that the buttons on the display do not work. The power button located on the display does work. I tried installing the Tablet Button Driver II and it will go through the install but the buttons do not work.  This is the download link:http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds027627 The document claims Windows 10 compatability and was Last Updated :08 Jun 2015. On inspection, all the files extracted are dated from 2012 and when trying to manually run the software Windows throws up an error that the software is not supported on this PC.   I removed and reinstalled and noted that the driver information page when running the installer does NOT have Windows 10 listed as a supported system. My assumption is that the driver that they have linked on the download page is NOT the most current driver and is infact the driver for Windows 7 from 2012. Does anyone know how to contact Lenovo to get the correct driver posted to the page, or know of an alternate source to try and find it?

Hi guys, So basically I started fresh installation on windows 10, and when I tried to pull out the tablet because this is a detachable ultrabook the tablet mode didnt went ON so here's what I already tried: Rotation Lock: ON/OFF;When i sign-in into windows-->Use the appropriate mode for my hardware; When i this device automatically switches tablet mode on/off-->don't ask and always switch;Show visual feedback when i touch the screen ON/OFF.It just continues not to work, so I thought that the intel integrated sensor solution driver would work, but it happens I don't find the one for this specific model which by the way is from Portugal,   Cheers, Alexandre Santos     Windows 10 Insider / Android Rom Tester

Hi all,    I have a really annoying problem...my x220 tablet disconnects from the internet whenever I enter tablet mode. The internet can be working perfectly fine while in non tablet mode but as soon as I switch to tablet mode, my internet disconnects. And if I switch back to non tablet mode from tablet mode, my internet returns almost instantaneously. I can load a page in non tablet mode with no problems, switch to tablet mode and the page stops loading. If I return back to non tablet mode the page resumes loading without so much as a pause or a hiccup. Also, when I switch the computer to tablet mode, wifi networks disappear off of the "available networks" list that were there before the switch.     I've tried everything, from updating network device drivers, reinstalling network device drivers, running diagnostics, reformatting my computer, uninstalling Norton Antivirus, system restoring to days before the last known working date in normal mode and safe mode, and contacting customer support (chat and call, managed to get a hold of a rep) but none of them have worked.    I also used to have a networking log before I reformatted/system reset to factory settings and there were a ton of errors with words like avsc manager failed to "something" ... I'll reinstall the thinkpad network managing program to create another log. Can someone please help me? My last resort is calling lenovo support again to have tech support come to hel... Read more

Try updating your drivers first: http://mobilesupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/yoga-series/yoga-2-13-notebook-l...If that does not help, try a factory reset:1. Turn off your Yoga 2 132. Press the tiny button next to the power button on the right3. Follow instructions to perform a factory resetIf none of the above attempts have helped you, it is probably a hardware issue.

Well, I've finally had it. I've had my 6365 CTO X60 tablet pc for over a year now and last Monday I lost pen functionality in tablet pc mode in the afternoon after working fine in the morning. It works fine, even now after rotating the screen back to laptop mode. As soon as the screen is rotated back to tablet pc mode, no pen functionality but the mouse still works fine so I know it's functional in laptop mode but rotate back, all ok!  I did uninstall the Wacom drivers, restart, and then downloaded the tablet pc, windows xp version drivers from the wacom.com site as instructed in a previous post. Unfortunately, the digitizer pen is still disabled in tablet pc mode and works fine when rotated back to laptop mode. I've called Lenovo tech support in Atlanta four times now and they've been totally useless. I wiped out my X60 tablet last Friday and used Rescue and Recovery to reinstall the operating system back to it's factory settings. I went back and unistalled and reinstalled the Wacom driver. Nothing. Since that didn't work either I've requested the box to ship this back to the Memphis Depot. Hopefully, I'll just get a new replacement machine that works but I'm so angry and frustrated w/ Lenovo's support because it's obvious that the people on the phone are not tech specialists and they couldn't even point me in a direction to get this fixed. It's cost me over a week now wo... Answer:X60 tablet pc digitizer pen functionality disabled in tablet pc mode

Problem solved! While the support folks weren't able to fix the problem over the phone, they did overnite me a prepaid return box which I sent back that day. Two days later they overnited my X60 tablet back fixed with a note saying 'LCD enabled'. I'm impressed how quickly they got my tablet pc back up and running. I'm glad I got that 3-yr. support warranty because I usually opt out of those things. This totally paid for itself. I just wish I hadn't been so reluctant to send back my laptop because I do need it for work and I figured I wouldn't get it back for at least a week or longer. I was so frustrated and pessimistic that I forgot sometimes these problems do get fixed in a very satisfactory manner. It's too bad the initial steps that led to sending it back were so painful. Bottom line: Lenovo fixed my pc quickly, no questions asked. Thanks!

Hi,Does anyone know if the X61T Tablet PC comes with International Warranty? In particular, I need the X61T to be serviceable locally in both US and Singapore (Asia Pacific region). I've checked the IWS warranty website, and strangely enough the countries at which the X61T (Model No 7764) is not eligible for warranty in most major countries. This is really a disappointment, and it has placed my plans for a X61T purchase on hold.So... does anyone know if one can buy a X61T with full international warranty? Different model number perhaps? There doesn't seem to be any option on expanding on the warranty type too besides extending its length... but no options for extending the countries where it can be serviced. Thanks alot!

I have an HP Pavilion TX2000, which is basically a standard convertible tablet pc.

Whenever I fold the screen into tablet mode, the screen orientation switches to secondary landscape format (i.e. 1280x800 upside down).

It would be much more practical if there was a way to make it switch to primary portrait format (i.e. 800x1280) automatically instead.

Of course, i can use the "screen orientation" hotkey on the right side of the display to manually do that each time, but that's not very practical, especially since a resolution refresh takes about 5 seconds - and two refreshes are needed if the system switches to an unwanted one first.

The windows vista control panel holds an option named "tablet settings", but the screen orientation settings there only modify the sequence of screen orientations if the beforementioned hotkey is pressed, and have nothing to do at all with the action if the screen is folded into tablet mode.
The graphics driver config panel (nVidia control panel) also holds an option to rotate the screen, but similarly, doesn't show any switch for default action if the screen is folded into tablet mode.

HPs preinstalled hotkey bloatware doesn't have any options for that at all, and the system behaves in this respect exactly the same without it.

so i just replaced my stock hdd with a 7200rpm and installed windows 7 professional. I have installed most of the drivers and have just about everything working except for my screen rotation button. i installed the screen rotation utility, but the rotation button does not work at all (neither does the accelerometer aided rotation). I also attempted to change my tablet pc settings, but that made no difference either. any suggestions would be more than welcome!

Hi! I tried searching to see if this was already covered and didn't find anything, but maybe it is and I didn't see it. So my Y70 touch screen isn't working, which I enjoy using cause this thing is huge and it's faster with some things. Tablet mode is on, I have Windows 10, it was working a week or so ago. I've finally had time to investigate today. What would cause this to happen? Could updates have installed and done something strange? Thank you!

When I flip over my lenovo chromebook the screen doesn't flip and the on-screen keyboard doesn't show up. I can manually flip the screen in settings, etc., but I really shoudn't have to, and it was definitely working yesterday. I've tried fiddling around with settings, but there really isnt anything about this in there. What do I do to fix this?

Answer:Tablet Mode Not Working

Sorry, no answer to your problem. I have exactly the problem with my Lenovo Chromebook. It also appeared at the same date 04-16-2017. Some bug in update maybe? I also "powerwashed" the chromebook and even changed the user, but nothing helps. As if there is some mechanical thing which prevents the computer understanding when the screen flips. This I'm quite sure can't be the case since the chromebook is relatively new and nothing violent has happened with it.

My Tablet mode and touch screen are not working for this product. I tried using it for the first time today and have not been able to find any information about how to troubleshoot this problem on my own. One of the reasons I bought this laptop is because it was supposed to be touch screen as well. The salesman showed me the same laptop on display the NoteBook 15 and turned the tablet mode on and was able to use the touch screen and pull up a touch keyboard. Once I turn tablet mode on I can find the touch keyboard and use my mouse to pull it up but the tocuhscreen itself is not working. Anything I can do?

I believe the connectors at the hinge of my x61 tablet is the source of problem. Earlier I mentioned that I had no access to the top of my screen with the digitizer, which is now restored. Now,  when I turn the screen to the 90 degree to flip it over, I lose sound. I have to disable sound device in the device manager and restore it, but remain unable to get sound in tablet mode. Is this a common problem? thanks

I have never been able to get this tablet screen to rotate according to the rotation sequence settings I have set for it in the control panel tablet settings. It is currently set to go from primary landscape to secondary landscape, then portrait, etc. It NEVER works upon rotating the screen. Doing this, tt always goes straight to the portrait orientations. According to that control panel setting, this sequence is for the button only. From the usual, unfolded laptop position, the sequence does work. However, if I flip the screen then hit the button, it goes out of sequence. Anyone successfully get theirs to rotate properly?

Answer:Thinkpad X61 Tablet rotation sequence....

Yes, had the same issue until I changed the setting in another place that must override the one you set.    Go to Programs > ThinkVantage  > Tablet Shortcut Menu >  Settings (round link at bottom) > Customize Tablet Menu Settings then set the Auto Screen Rotation default value.    The screens will then rotate in the order you set in the Control Panel > Table and Pen Settings > Display > Sequence.   One place to set the default orientaion and one place for the sequence, not sure how or if the two conflict with each other.

This afternoon, the SXGA+ LCD of my x61t was replaced onsite by an IBM technician.  Unfortunately, I didn't think to verify that tablet functionality was still intact before he left.  Pen input and the tablet buttons appear not to be working.  I am unsure whether this is a driver issue, or if it is possible that the technician installed non-tablet LCD.  Any assistance would be much appreciated.   Thanks.

Answer:x61t pen input and tablet buttons not functional after lcd replacement

Perhaps this will help.  The part requisition sheet in the box the technician brought lists an LCD pro. plate with FRU number 93P5609.  I'm not sure what this part corresponds to.  Looking at the parts page for the x61t, I see that the FRU number for the SXGA+ tablet monitor is 13N7235.  Some sites seem to suggest that these are the same item, but others indicate otherwise. After installing Wacom drivers 5.05-7 (which seemed to have been deleted), tablet buttons appear functional again, but there is still no response from the pen. Thanks, jbclamence

You might need to go into Programs and Features/Turn Windows Features On or OffSee if Tablet  PC Optional Components is selected.  If not, please select this. Also, if you have a multi-touch screen you will need to download those driversfrom:http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-67220

Answer:ThinkPad-X61t :: Can I use a pen-device with WinXP without Tablet Version of it ?!

Windows XP tablet version is basically Windows XP pro w/ tablet functionality [which is tablet input panel, writing recognition] If you don't want to use that, you don't have to use Windows XP tablet version either. I myself rarely use those functionality, only use pen as pointer and for photoshoping. It works just fine under Windows XP pro + install Wacom driver (or multitouch driver.)

5855 tablet lost auto rotation after (I think) recent Windows 10 update.
It used to work a couple of days ago.

Any ideas how to restore the auto rotation?

Answer:5855 tablet lost auto rotation

Greetings,Kindly try the following steps :To turn on, or turn off screen rotation, swipe in from the right, select PC Settings and look for the Screen icon. Tap the Screen icon and you will see a vertical slide control for brightness. At the top of the brightness control you will see a rectangle, representing a screen, with a curved arrow at the lower right corner. Tap the rectangle once to lock the screen rotation in the current position, portrait or landscape. The curved arrow will change to a lock. To unlock screen rotation, follow the same procedure, tap the rectangle with the lock and it will change back to the curved arrow. Please update drivers and check if issue persists. If the button has disappeared and issue is not resolved after updating driver, reset the operating system after backing up data. Confirm if this helps.

On Tablet PCs, screen orientation can be changed so that any side of the screen can become "the bottom" of the desktop.
Unfortunately, the result is that a wallpaper intended for a 1200 x 800 desktop, is stretched to fill a 800 x 1200 desktop. See the effect in the attached images.
Is there any way to lock wallpapers to a physical side of a screen?

Answer:Screen Orientation and Wallpaper Rotation (on Tablet PCs)

The easiest solution may be a tiled wallpaper. Something that's just a pattern.

edit: I found this page. I have no idea if it works. I only have desktop machines:

The pointer on the screen is not synchronized with the stylus moves (the mouse pointer moves like in the landscape mode, ==> they are perpendicular to the stylus moves).I've tried with no success the two calibration modes (vertical and horizontal), I must have a wrong or a missing driver...Thanks for any idea

HI!I just got new Lenovo yoga 710 but when I turn it to tablet mode at 360 degrees the screen goes black. So to around 350 degrees works normal, but if I put it to 360, the screen goes black. Do you have any solution? Maja

Answer:yoga 710 tablet mode not working at 360 degrees

Hello Maja1Thanks for using the Lenovo forums. As this only happens when the unit is flipped to tablet mode, it seems to be that there will be an issue with the connection on the unit.

Try to download the Video and Chipset drivers for the unit from the support page.

Make sure to reboot after an update on the unit.
Also, Try a static discharge for this, it may help to resolve the issue or at least get rid of any built up static on the motherboard.(If the battery is internal, please just skip the remove/replace battery steps.)1. Turn the unit off2. Remove the battery and the Mains adapter3. Press and hold the front power button for 30 seconds4. Replace the battery and the Mains adapter5. Turn the unit on as normal

Hope this helps, let us know how you get on.==================================================================================Did someone help you today? Thank them with a Kudo! If you find a post helpful and it answers your question, please mark it as an "Accepted Solution"!

I have a toshiba convertible laptop, I was using it in both laptop mode and tablet mode. Suddenly after converting from tablet mode to laptop mode the keyboard and touch pad stopped working in windows. The keyboard is functional and working in bios I am able to change the options in bios but when it comes to windows only the function keys are working to change the system settings. The touch pad is also having the same issue.

Answer:Keyboard and touch pad not working after using as tablet mode

Sounds like a driver issue or accessibility that the touch on-screen keyboard got screwed up. Can you get to a restore point by using a USB keyboard and mouse with it? Toshiba has their own drivers for the Synaptics Touchpad, same as their Function keys. I always went with non-UEFI on the Toshiba laptop my wife has. Always had issues with Toshiba's drivers and UEFI mode.

The only other thing is maybe roll back to a System Restore point before this occurred. Also do you make a regular system backup for the unit?

Got an inspiron 13 7000 yesterday and trying to use for first time.  When switching to tablet mode, the virtural/on-screen keyboard cannot be selected for use.  It is available in laptop mode (when I don't need it because of the large keyboard in front of me), but not table.

So, I called tech support and was told it was outside of regular tech and they'd transfer me to software tech.  They said there is normally a fee for this support, but since the computer is brand new, there would be not charge.  Software tech refused to help me unless I paid and they transferred me back to hardware tech who put me on hold, then hung up on me.

Wow, nice support on a brand new product!  They want me to pay to get their defective product to work?  I guess it would be cheaper for them to pay for a return shipping label, give me a full refund and sell this as a refurb at half of what they sold it to me for then for them to actually spend a few minutes on the phone trying to help.

Before I return this and buy another brand, does anyone know how to get the on-screen keyboard to work on tablet mode?

Hey guys, I'm currently setting up a brand new Asus ZenBook Flip 2in1 with the newest build of the creators update installed. Everything went fine including the automatic switching between Tablet and Desktop modes until just now. I set up the laptop in this chronology:
1. Installed x86 programs - Continuum is still working
2. Installed store applications - Continuum is still working
3. Went through all the setting pages one by one - Continuum stops working
Under the Tablet mode setting page no matter which option I choose (switch automatically without asking, always ask etc.), I don't get any response. When I flip over the display, the machine stays in desktop mode. Changing over to tablet mode manually works as expected though. Thanks in advance for any advice. My guess currently is that this is a bug with the creators update itself but I doubt know.
Cheers

Strange new problem with my X61 (running vista, fully up to date, 4 gigs ram, etc.) When I rotate it into slate mode, the wireless disconnects and refuses to reconnect properly until I reboot. I have verified this behavior many times. More confusing: the wireless connection icon in the right side of the task bar remains in connected mode, but if you click it, it will not give you the usual windows panel allowing you access to the networking screens. Stranger yet, if you physically shut off the radios with the switch on the front, the radio LED stays lit, and using Fn+F5 to bring up the radio screen, doesn't allow me to cycle the radio on or off either. Possible cause: I have uninstalled "Access Connections" because it has been nothing but trouble for me:  This may be a variation on the old "display cannot work in secondary landscape mode when wireless WAN" is active message that I used to get. Basically, this computer does not have wireless WAN, never has, but for some time, when I tried to use the screen in secondary landscape in slate mode, it would give me that message and turn the screen to some other orientation. This was obviously unacceptable, and I uninstalled access connections which seemed to solve the problem. With a recent automatic lenovo update, it reinstalled access connections and started that problem again, which is why I uninstalled it yet again. But now, this. Anyone see this? I seem to remember that screen orientation was... Read more

Answer:X61 Tablet Wireless Turns Off/Crashes on Screen Rotation

Funny that you should post this because I literally just registered for this forum so I could add a post for this exact problem (as well as a temporary fix) in the hopes that Lenovo would quickly remedy this situation.  I am kind of a tech newbie and only recently started troubleshooting my computer problems on my own so please excuse any lack of proper jargon during the course of this post.  Anyway, the problem I thought (much like you) was the updated version of the Access Connections version 5.02 that was recently released by Lenovo that automatically updated to my tablet.  So I uninstalled 5.02 and reinstalled the older version 4.52.  After restarting my computer, I tried rotating my screen to tablet mode-->the wireless disabled, Access Connections froze, Wireless LED would stay lit, and it would kick me out of using secondary landscape mode with the wireless enabled even if I tried to turn the wireless off with the hard key on the front of the keyboard.  Same problem persisted exactly as you posted.   I then went to my ThinkVantage System Update and looked at my update history to see what other recent updates might have been responsible.  I came across one called "Intel Wireless WiFi for Vista 32-bit" version 12.00.4000.  After doing some digging on the Lenovo website I found the driver: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-70505 Anyway, I figured it would b... I recently did a fresh install of win 7 64-bit on my thinkpad x200 tabletpc, updated all the usual drivers and software from lenovo and windows update. Whenever I rotate my display into tablet mode, I always get the message 'USB Device Not Recognized' in the system tray, windows then trys to find and install device drivers for it but is unsuccessful every time. I have tried to find device drivers to fix this without any success. In device manager, I see the culprit highlighted under Universal Serial Bus Controllers with a yellow exclamation mark sign beside 'Unknown Device' with a location of Port_#001.Hub_#002. I have tried uninstalling and and reinstalling this, still no success. I have tried to disable it merely to stop the annoying prompt from the system tray yet it still comes back and warns me of the same problem. Has anybody else experienced this ? Does anybody have any suggestion for solving the problem ?I'm guessing it is related to the display driver, I will try installing/reinstalling another version of that to see if that fixes it. I'm starting to doubt the integrity of this tablet, I've begun to notice a lot more driver and USB conflicts lately..

Answer:x200 thinkpad tablet : 'USB Device Not Recognized' on screen rotation

Did you install the Cipset driver.
I guess, this is missing and so unknown devices cannot get recognized well.

What about the tablet button driver?

is there a driver that can make this work?

Answer:Portege M 200 Tablet rotation button doesn't work on Vista

Hi,

I had the same problem on the M200 and now onthe M400.
My solution was to install the Intel Supplied Drivers. With those drivers the rotation is made with CTRL+ALT+ARROW (Up Arrow to point up, Right Arrow to point right, etc).

Good luck!

Hello,
I recently got an HP Omni 10 tablet. It came pre-installed with Windows 8.1 (I think its the base/core edition), as well as Office Home and Student.
Now, I am not much fond of manufacturer bloatware, so I would like to fresh install windows from scratch (Using a USB hub and mouse/keyboard during setup). The tablet came with a memory card, which doesn't have a Windows setup, but just re-images the system partition and applies the HP image. Assuming I have all the required drivers and I want to keep this all legal and use my existing licenses, my questions are
1. Is the Windows Core edition ISO available anywhere? I am OK downloading from torrent sites, it won't be illegal as I am using my valid license.
2. Will the Windows installer automatically get the product key from the EFI BIOS, or should I use a tool to get the Product key from registry? I don't see the product key mentioned anywhere on the Box or the tablet.
3. Is the Office Home and Student ISO/ installer available anywhere? I have the key for this.

For the record though, torrent sites are illegal regardless of whether (or not) you have a license for the illegally hosted software. They are not authorized vendors or distributors; hence the fact there is a perpetual effort to shut some of them down when the opportunity arises. They also remain a great way of taking a clean machine and embedding viruses and malware. Other... Read more

Does anyone know how to turn on the automatic desktop/tablet mode switching?

I run W10, the official release, on a Surface Pro 3 with a keyboard cover. Up to now, when I detach the keyboard I get asked if I want to switch to tablet mode, and when I attach the keyboard desktop mode has been automatically restored. I really like how W10 separates the two modes, instead off like W8/8.1 trying to be in both modes simultaneously.

But suddenly this does not happen. When the keyboard is detached, I do not get any question about enabling tablet mode and the Surface stays in desktop mode. If I manually switch to tablet mode, when I attach the keyboard the machine stays in tablet mode until manually disable it.

I have not changed any settings related to this, not deliberately at least.

I have looked at the tutorial on tablet mode in this forum, but it says nothing about automatic switching. I have checked the available settings but cannot see that there is any setting determining automatic mode switch, other than the "Always/never ask me before switching" (which is set to always).

Answer:Auto switch tablet/desktop mode stopped working...

Thinkpad Yoga 11E 20D9I upgraded the RAM and SSD as per this thread: http://tinyurl.com/l3e7yvzSince that was done, I installed Windows 10 and Office Professional. Now, I have no tablet mode or touchscreen. I have updated all the drivers and BIOS and etc that was suggested in the Lenovo scan. It did nothing to resolve the issue. I searched for previous posts of the same problem and none of the solutions worked either. Note: I do not have anything pertaining to touchscreen in Human Interface in Device Manager and tablet mode is enabled under settings. I appreciate any help. Thanks so much.

HiI bought this for my daughter this Christmas and after registering using the keyboard it suddenly stopped working and I could only use the touch screen keyboard. Then for no reason at all the pc display went in to tablet mode and won't come out of it.I have tried a total reset and everything I described above happens again. I have downloaded all the drivers etc again and rebooted and the outcome is still the same. Have wondered if throwing it against a wall would help, but realised that would only help me and not the laptop.Has anyone had this problem and if so how did you resolve it?Thanks

Answer:Pavilion x360 keyboard not working and stuck in tablet mode

Hi @kippa22?, Welcome to the HP Forums!  It is a terrific place to find answers and tips! For you to have the best experience in the HP forum I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide:Learn How to Post and More. I understand that you purchased the Pavilion x360 as a Christmas present for your daughter.  After setting it up, and registering on the HP website the keyboard stopped responding. You could only use the on screen keyboard.  Suddenly the display went into tablet mode and  you could not change the mode back.  You have tried a total reset and installed any driver updates, but the issue remains. Have you ran the HP Support Assistant?  Have you ran the Windows troubleshooter? Would you check this setting. Click the Windows button (lower left corner)Clcik on  settingsClick on  system to  open it.In the left pane of the screen, scroll down to the bottom until you see "Tablet Mode"Verify that  it is set to off. Please let me know the outcome. Best of Luck and Happy Holidays!

I think iBall Slide i701 is the cheapest tablet in world (windows) even cheaper than Lumia 430.

Only USD 77$
But i have some questions before i proceed to buy it for my child
1. As it is 16gb tablet but in actual we get only 4gb free space & i have read in reviews that once we update windows & other apps we are left with only 400mb space & we cant install other apps. So is it possible to install software's (.exe) on 64GB memory card which this tablet support ?
I am not talking about APPS, I am talking about .exe files like photoshop, ERP, educational softwares etc.
2. As it is having only 1 USB port so it is possible to attach a USB hub so that we can attach pen drives, KB, Mouse, HDD, 3g Dongel & power adapter at once ?
If anyone of you have used any windows 8/8.1 tablet then please reply.

I have a no-name 2-in-1 tablet, x64 architecture, running OEM Windows 10 32-bit, version 1607, and as far as I have been able to ascertain, the tablet is up to 64-bit specs.. I have downloaded the ISO file for Windows 10 64-bit, version 1607, and I want to upgrade the OS. Speccy has given me the Product ID; if I install the 64-bit OS over the existing 32-bit OS, will the new version of Windows accept the existing Product ID, or will I have to purchase a new ID?

Answer:Upgrading 32bit Windows 10 to 64bit Windows10 on a tablet

The same product key will work for 32-bit or 64-bit Windows 10. If you have one of the 2 GB RAM, 32 GB "hard drive" (eMMC) tablets you will probably see a decrease in performance with the 64-bit Windows 10 because the increased resources needed for 64-bit on an already resource limited computer will outweigh the performance benefits. Also, are there 64 bit drivers available for the hardware? A lot of the no-name tablets out there have manufacturer specific hardware drivers and even registry entries - so make sure you back up the drivers on the existing tablet before you do a clean install or you might find yourself having to scour third party internet sites for them - and they likely won't work with 64-bit Windows 10 anyway.

Hi.  I have a problem with my yoga 710 in tablet mode. The on screen keyboard just pops up and goes away after a secound.  Some say its a problem with Chrome. But the problems also occurs when i try to log in to windows in tablet mode. The keyboard pops up, and goes away so i cant type my passcode. If i flip the pc out of tablet mode and opens the onscreen keybord by pushing on it on the taskbar it stays open. Someone know how to fix this?

Wanting to know if others have this problem? If I use the tablet for a short period of time (1hr) in "Tablet mode" the cursor returns and the trackpoint works fine. However if I use it for say 3-4hrs in "tablet mode" and go back to the regular laptop configuration the cursor is missing and the trackpoint will not respond!!! All keyboard keys function without problem (left and right mouse buttons are non-operational as well). Doing a system log-off and login back in will not solve the issue. I have to do a reboot for it to start working again. Trackpoint driver version 4.71.0.0 is installed. Running Windows7 Pro 64.

Currently own: X220T, X201, X200, T61 X2, X61T X3

Answer:X200T cursor missing, trackpoint not working after extended tablet mode use

Hi This is an odd one, but fixable.  Try opening the settings for tablet mode under the control panel and check there or check the setting for the trackpoint under the productivoty centre.

I have upgraded to Windows 8 64 bit on my X61 Tablet, however I cannot get the tablet buttons, hotkeys, or auto-rotation to work. My understanding is that Lenovo has stopped supporting these products. I think it is a shame to stop using a perfectly working tablet PC with a superior LCD. I don't want to go back to Win 7 leaving all kinds of nice features on Windows 8. Any suggestions? Is there a hope? Koray

Answer:X61 Tablet Windows 8 - Tablet Button and Features Request

Hi koray,

I've been playing around with Windows 8 since the developers preview.  I've ran it on a lot of older systems.  Getting things to work will require some experimentation on your part.

You can start with your Driver Matrix.  There you can find the Hotkeys Utility for Windows 8.  You will also need the Power Manager Driver for Windows 8.  Not Power Manager,  just the Power Manager Driver.

Run Windows Update, it will probably find some stuff.  Some Windows 7 drivers will work, others won't.

I'm running Windows 8 Pro on an x60 tablet and everything works fine.  I also have it on an x61 non-tablet and it runs fine. I had to do a lot of messing around with stuff to get them to work right though.

Just make sure that you set system restore points before changing anything so you can get back what you had before, just in case something doesn't work right.  And, only install one thing at a time and reboot and test it out thoroughly before you install something else.

Good luck with this,

Dave
