X200 Tablet with Integrated AT&T Mobile Broadband (Ericsson 3G with GPS)

Question: X200 Tablet with Integrated AT&T Mobile Broadband (Ericsson 3G with GPS)

Can someone confirm for me that ordering this will get me an Ericsson F3507G? I have been told from our I.T. purchasing that it will be an Option card and he can get it cheaper and install himself. I am trying to replicate a previously purchased unit that is out in the field, for testing. Thanks

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: X200 Tablet with Integrated AT&T Mobile Broadband (Ericsson 3G with GPS)

If you are configuring that in the online store, the "Integrated AT&T Mobile Broadband (Ericsson 3G with GPS) [add $80.00]" will be the F3507G, unless there has been a recent change. Amazing if your IT guy can go through the purchasing cycle, install, and test, for less than that.

Hi,This  is a problem i have been suffering from with many of my clients (around 190)They all have Lenovo X200 /X200S  with built in mobile broad band which has stopped to work recently due to the latest Vodafone and ATT wireless WAN (HSPA)  Driver. I conntacted the local agent no one has any idea contacted lenovo representative in Norway and they have no IDEA also !!All of them are experts in passing the problem to somone else !!!  All these systems has windows XP pro with all the latest updates available My company is about to launch it's software for W7 and i strongly doubt i can recommend the new X201 as our standard new platform if every now and then the same problem Happens . Before it was BIOS and we had to downgrade to v2,06. Then Wifi adapter where we had to install the driver from intel and  not the one from lenovo and after an access connection update we had to go back to the driver from LENOVO!!! So PLEASE lenovo could someone look at this support reuest and tell us what the heck is wrong with the latest update from you ?? and how to fix it ???   RegardsMaris Support Dept.

The Lenovo community is a peer to peer support forum, not an official Lenovo support channel.

You may get a partial answer here, but given the specific nature of your problem, which appears like it might be tied to some aspect of your local 3G service provision, you will really need local Lenovo resources involved.

Hello All: I can't get the GPS location feature working on my new W520 (4270-CTO).  The device did work once, the first day I had the computer (before running Microsoft Update and Lenovo Update), however, it has not worked since then. I've tried everything I can think of - removing and re-installing all the software, double-checking the BIOS, looking for device driver problems - but no luck.  When I launch the 'GPS Enabler' application, all I see is 'Satellite Acquisition in progress...".  I know the laptop can see the satellite constellation because I have a small hand-held GPS beside the laptop, and it has an excellent view of the satellites.  So does my Blackberry. My operating system is Windows 7 Pro, 64 bit, SP 1 (what the computer shipped with).  I've installed the 83wo13ww driver package (nominally version 6.4.1.6, according to the readme file, but displayed as driver version 1.4.0.5 in the properties sheet of the driver when viewed via the Device Manager); the 83wa20ww Lenovo Mobile Broadband Activation package ( version 4.0.0020); and the 83gp31ww ThinkVantage GPS package (version 2.72). I'm running Access Connections 5.84 (build 83c755ww), which I believe is the current release.  I have placed a SIM card in the slot in the back of the computer, and when I launch the Lenovo Mobile Broadband Activation, it shows all the appropriate information (IMEI, ICCID, etc.) for the SIM card... Answer:Can't get GPS working on W520 with Ericsson F5521gw Integrated Mobile Broadband

Just a postscript - I have found another discussion from about 18 months ago that mentions similar problems with a W500 and a T500.  One of the participants in that discussion suggested that improper assignment of COM ports might be the cause of the problem... but, if that is so, how does one go about re-assigning the two ports used by the GPS?  The picture I provided (link is above) shows that my W520 is using COM ports 10 and 11 for the GPS.  I have no idea at all how to change this port assignment. Here's the link to the prior discussion: W500 GPS Problem Regards, Michael

My cell phone provider (T-Mobile--USA) offers wireless broadband using a SIM card and either a laptop stick or mobile hotspot.  I would like to know whether it is possible to utilize the Ericsson F3507g mobile broadband card installed in my X200 notebook.  There is a SIM card provision, but when I insert the T-Mobile SIM card it gives an error message when I try to activate it with the Access Connections program.  Is there software I need to download to be able to use this?  Do I first need to "unlock" the mobile broadband card like I would need to unlock a cell phone that is locked with a competing carrier? The wireless hotspot I bought does not work well in the locations I need the wireless broadband so I would like to try the internal mobile broadband to see if there is improvement. Thanks in advance for your help.

HiAfter upgrading the system the computer does not recognize the WWAN nor the GPS.I've tried to uninstall the the Ericsson wireless module core and download and re-install the latest version of the driver (v1.0.1046.226 ), but the WWAN does not apear in the wireless radio switches (I have only the 802.11 wireless radio switch and the bluetooth switch)the thinkvatage mobile broadband connect  gives an error message "mobile broadband device not found" and so does the thinkvantage GPS utility. Also, I can not find the Ericsson F3507g through the device manager (not in modems and not in network adaptors).I'm almost sure it is not a hardware problem, since it worked fine before.Any ideas?Gilproduct: 7417TNUOS: XP PROAccess connections version 5.33

Hi, I had similar problem with driver: 7uwc46ww. For me it (mostly) went away with driver: 7uv706ww. Please note than I am running Win 7 so the exact driver may not be relevant but the behavior was the one you described so it is probably driver related. The problem seems to be that the card is switched off and then you can not get it on again. Two workarounds that I applied to the earlier driver which you may want to try out.1) Install Ericssons wireless manager which works OK for the built in card even if it is intended for non-built in cards2) Treat the WWAN card as a modem and switch it on with an AT-modem string. Mats

I've just received my ThinkPad X230 (which is lovely!) and bought a SIM card from 3 to use with the Ericsson mobile broadband I specified with it. Lenovo Access Connections displays the 3 transmitter and tries to connect, but I haven't been able to get it to work at all. Any ideas? It starts by not being able to find the provider, but changing from 3 3G to 3 GPRS/EDGE/HSDPA/3G just results in a failed connection and the error log below. Any ideas? Hi dtowsey,

First things first, have you updated your systems drivers and BIOS? I see there is a newer version of BIOS which can be downloaded independently here:  BIOS Update Utility for Windows 7 but if you haven't already, run TVT System Update to ensure all drivers are up to date. Once we are certain the ThinkPad has all the latest updates we can cross that off the list of potential reasons for your inability to connect to the network.

I hope this at least starts you off on the right track!

Ed

Hello!  Recently I installed the latest updates for my computer through the System Update program. Unfortunally it seems like the updater doesn't manage to install all the updates, and that are the drivers for the "Ericsson F3507g Mobile Broadband Minicard PC SC Port". I open it in "device management" (dont't know the translation), and find there are no drivers installed. So is it also for the "Ericsson ... GPS Port/Device Management".  Because of this I can no longer connect to WiFi. I have visited lenovos driver pages, and downloaded the requested driver, including the others needed, and installed them manually. The problems is that Ericcson driver keeps "rolling back" during installation after having paused at 100% (the same happened through System Update). It resets the installation, only leaving the message that it was interrupted.  I have never had this problem before, and I don't see why I suddenly would be without WiFi drivers. However I'm stuck, can't find any previous driver versions to install (nor roll back to an older driver as there is none).  Any help would be highly appreciated! Thanks Message Edited by tormhau on 06-18-2009 12:10 PM

I have noticed this problem on 2 X301 Systems. One running XP (SP3') one running Vista (SP2). On both machines the Vodafone Dashboard was used to connect to WAN. At first it worked but afer a while a message saying": "Mobile connection not possible. Ensure that no other programs are using your selected device, and try again in a short while", when trying to connect. On one machine running vista, i could bypass this problem by using the sony ericsonwireless manager. On the XP machine it couldn't find the card (the ericsonwireless manager). The WAN Module is active. Under Modems i can see the F3507g device, which is working normally. Also under Ports I can see 2 COM Ports dedicated to the module (Device Management and GPS Port). Its interesting that i can connect to WAN using the RAS/Dial-up connection. Ipconfig /all shows an external IP and I can surf the net.Are there any known Issues with the Vodafone Dashboard ( I am using latest one Dashboard Version 9.4.3.16284).A driver reinstall didn't help.

Answer:X301 & Ericsson F3507g Mobile Broadband Minicard Modem

You can just dump the "dashboard" and connect using Dial Up Networking, those broadband "connection managers" are really QoS managers and can dynamically quash your throughput based on settings updated on connection and broader network policies. Cellular providers drop calls and WWAN connections duirng periods of congestion and WWAN cards suck up more bandwidth than multiple voice users and their QoS habits are illogical most of the time. You should already have an entry for your ISP within DUN and you can google for sites with the specific settings to recreate / experiment with your settings, one particular site is: http://www.mgmcc.myby.co.uk/GPRS_phone_settings_B.htm     (no affiliation)

After many hours work trying to get this to work after upgrading from Vista, the latest drivers for the card (7uw706.exe) seemed to work okay with a vodafone signal being shown but I was unable to connect. Looking through many web forums, lots of people seem to be having similar problems with these cards in Lenovo machines. I finally discovered that the APN needs to be set for UK operation and now I can connect okay. However, it does not seem to be controllable with "Access Connections" (Blutooth and WiFi adaptors can be controlled okay here) which either shows card is "Disabled" or it is not possible to switch it on. Despite this, the WAN indicator on the front of the PC is always on unless I physically switch all radios off with the front hardware button. Even with this button OFF, a reboot results in the WAN module showing as ON again and it is necessary to physically switch all radios on and off again to extinguish this. Presumably this card is still powered when the indicator is lit which will affect battery life. I believe I am using the latest Access Connections Utility (6gc725ww.exe). Anybody else notice these problems (especially Lenovo Tech people).......?

Hi there. I'm in the UK and bought an X200 about 6 months back with built-in 3G card. I used the included T-Mobile free month's trial until it came to an end. I am now using the laptop out and about more and am wondering what my options are - can I use any mobile broadband provider's SIM card or is it locked to T-mobile in some way? Looking at T-mobile, O2 websites, they only seem to offer USB dongles which seem a bit inelegant. Just spoke to a T-Mobile customer rep and she seemed to think you could get SIM cards only in stores. Any advice welcomed. Edit: just realised the trial was with Vodafone not T-Mobile. Answer:What is the value of the Integrated Mobile Broadband add on?

The value is for people whom knows definitely that they are going to use mobile broadbands, in addition the reception using the integrated system would be better than the external usb plugins (most of them anyway), if you only occasionally use mobile broadband then some people would suggest an external one. It really depends whether you are a road warrior that need constant mobile internet access.

Hello,Ordered a laptop with this option. & have inserted a SIM card I used in my "old Sony laptop that I used for WWAN.What else is needed to connect? Thanks

Answer:What does " Integrated Mobile Broadband upgradable" mean?

Hi rookie66, welcome to the forums,

it means that everything you need for broadband, WWAN, is present except the all important module which actually makes it all work.  The module can be purchased separately, or, on some systems the slot where it sits can be used for a solid state drive instead.

As you probably want to use WWAN, if you post which system you have members will be able to inform you exactly what you need to realise it.

What does this mean? I ordered a T410 with this option and I would like to connect to my Verizon account- do I need a SIM card from Verizon to get mobile broadband to work. It appears no mobile hardwear is installed on the machine??  My x61 had the drivers and hardwear already installed - so this was previously very easy to do. Thanks in advance.

Answer:T410 - Integrated Mobile Broadband - Upgradable

Hi and welcome to the forum!Upgradable means that the internal antennas are installed inside, but you need physical Mobile Broadband card to use WWAN, the card can be bought from lenovo. I'm not sure about the SIM part though, isn't Verizon CDMA? were you given a SIM for your X61 from Verizon (given that you were using same connection)?

I just received my new T500 laptop with integrated AT&T mobile broadband card.  There are no instructions (i.e. printed material, installation CDs, or on-screen messages) on how to activate this feature.  I currently use the AT&T service on my T61 laptop using a broadband modem card plugged in to the side of the computer.  This laptop came with an integrated Verizon mobile broadband card and every single time I boot up a message comes up asking if I want to activate / subscribe to the Verizon service.  No such message (for AT&T) comes up on my new T500. Can anyone provide me with step-by-step instuctions on how to get set up and going?  Also, are there any AT&T broadband service users who can share any helpful tips in transferring an existing service from one computer to another? Thanks in advance for any help!

Answer:How do I Activate (Integrated) AT&T Mobile Broadband Card on T500?

"Also, are there any AT&T broadband service users who can share any helpful tips in transferring an existing service from one computer to another?" Just move the activated SIM card.  I have one activated SIM card that I move between a T60 and a T61 as required. Both of these machines have internal integrated Sierra cards, though. Have to remove the batteries while moving the SIM card. As far as activating service on your new T500, you should be able to do that by calling AT&T Wireless. Two people in previous threads on this forum have gone that route. Centex

When I ordered my T410s, I chose the "upgradeable" option.  What does that exactly mean?  Does this mean that I have all the hardware already pre-installed, and I just need a SIM card and a service plan?  I noticed what appears to be a SIM card slot underneath the battery.  Should have thought ahead when I ordered the ThinkPad and had them set it up ready to go from the beginning.  Thanks.

Answer:Integrated Mobile Broadband - Upgradeable vs. Gobi 2000

Upgradable means you have the SIM slot and built-in antenna, but need to insert a WWAN mini PCI adapter like the Gobi 2000. So you have all the hardware except the WWAN adapter. The WWAN adapter is easy to insert and not that expensive to buy so it's no big deal, but if you are going to use mobile broadband you could as well have bought the Gobi 2000 instead of upgradable. You need a SIM card and a plan as well from a mobile network operator in your country. -gan

Answer:Lenovo Mobile Broadband Connection Driver for Windows 7 - ThinkPad x200 5NG

you will want to check whetner there is a physical card installed. the x200 does have the card slot, but that does not mean that wwan card is installed. and even then ,its also not confirmed whether you have the wwan antennas installed. you will want to check your windows device manager and make sure you have a 3g modem listed under network adapters. if you dont, the card is unlikely to have been installed physically.

I purchased a W530 with integrated mobile and have been trying to connect with various networks to no avail. I have a Type 2436-CTO S/N xxxxxxx 13/08 and Windows 8 came installed when I received. I have upgraded BIOS and everything that Lenovo solutions says I need to update.

The MEID is A1xxxxxxxxxxx. It came with an integrated Sierra Wireless MC8355-Gobi 3000 modem. I have downloaded an updated driver for Windows 8 for the MC8355. I have spoken with almost every Lenovo technical person as well as taken the computer to various network stores and so far no one can figure out why it won't connect to Verizon.

Verizon says I'm active and the computer error message says I am not active. Every tech has tried to look at the system by logging into my computer and no one can figure it out. The device manager says the MC8355 is working. Interesting when it was shipped to me it also had an AT&T sim card installed. After I had signed up with AT&T and one mo of paying for service they determined it would not work on their network. Finally someone told me to take the AT&T sim card out and it still will not connect.

Verizon tells me I do not need a sim card as I have the MC8355 but they can't tell me why I can't connect. Now I've paid for Verizon service for one month and still cannot connect. Everything else works fine with the W530. I've owned ThinkPads exclusively since the first one ever came out. I've never not been able to connect to mobil... Read more

So I have received my SIM card from Telenor, I have found the SIM slot behind the battery. I have rebooted the machine. Under networks I can see Mobile Broadband, but its Verizon? they are not even present in Sweden. I seem to have a working GOBI 2000 driver installation. Have anyone sucessfully managed to get Telenor Mobile Broadband working using the built in support for 3G cards? Hello All,

As we are all aware by now that we did not receive what we thought we were purchasing (GOBI) as far as mobile access is concerned (not to mention being told that the memory and SSD were upgradeable at time of purchase - before the month+ delays)...

Does anyone know EXACTLY what provider will work with the X1 Carbon's H5321gw PCIe card? I have read on various boards that AT&T is the only provider - but I find it hard to believe that Lenovo would limit this - given the current quality/service issues.

Any ideas? THANKS!

I've tried the software that came with the phone, no joy. A sim reader just reads the saved messages which appear to be the only ones on the sim and it'll only take 20 messages.

It cannot be impossible. If it's easier, how about simply saving my messages to the 1GB memory stick?

Can someone point me in the right direction?

Hello, does anyone have similar problem with installation of an ericsson H5321 wwan card? The wwan card was ordered from the official lenovo dealer. The card wasn't installed when I ordered the laptop, but the card itself was delivered separately. Answer:X230 Tablet and Ericsson H5321 wwan problem

Solution wasn't so simple... The Lenovo support changed a new Gobi 3000 wwan card. That was ok to the bios and laptop was running ok on windows 7. Everything worked well at least in Finland. So the Ericsson wwan card will not work current bios version. This is not mentioned on product catalog. The support changed this board without any costs. Windows 8 problems: Then I changed from win7 pro to win8 pro... Gobi 3000 drivers are not currently on Lenovo website, but you could find the drivers from other website. Drivers called LenovoGobi3kSetup.exe seem to be working ok on Windows 8. You'll find the link from the community to those drivers. ....but! It works until you rotate the display top of the keyboard. Then mobile broadband is disabled and there is no way to turn on this feature. Windows 8 troubleshoot says that the wwan switch is disabled and advices to enable the switch. But there is no any switch for wwan module!!! On windows 7 will work similary but you can switch wwan on when change the display rotation. Settinga are as well in FN+F5 button. But it will not work on windows 8 similary. It just disables all wifi actions. Solution for wwan switch enabling: Just install think vantage access for windows 7! It will give some errors, but ignore them. It will install finally and then you can switch wwan module again on. On my laptop this seem to be working now ok. I'm using think vantage acces only to enable the wwan modul... Read more

Hi Everybody!!Finally I purchased the Lenovo w500 notebook and I'm really happy with this product.I have one question about using the Ericsson f3507g Broadband mini Card to connect to a 3G network outside United states. The notebook i have purchased came with the AT&T broadband.Of course I canīt use it because I'm outside united states. So, I would like to use it with my 3g internet connection.I've tried to set up the connection but I had no success.I can only connet throught GPRS/EDGE but not to the 3g network using my SIM card.I have read a lot of information over internet but it is not clear. As I told, I can connect to edge using Access Connection but not to 3g despite the signal strenght is very good.I also tried to set up a dial uo connection and connect directly without using access connection, but I had no success. The dial up connection try to connect but it is not possible. Can someone help me about this issue?I don't know what else to do!Thank you in advance!Marcelo

Answer:Ericsson f3507g Broadband mini Card on w500

Depending on your provider, you might have something that is 3g, but in your area doesn't support it. For example, when I'm on holiday in Finland, Finland has 3g providers, but where I'm located "at the cottage at the lake" I'm connected to a mast that only supports GPRS/edge. The area is not very populated, thus they haven't upgraded that mast yet, they start with dense populated area-masts and work their way down, or maybe they just decided that the traffic on this mast is enough for it to be updated etc. Here at home in Denmark, I have 3g connection because my everyday home is located in a populated area, and my local mast does in fact support 3g. Anyway, try searching for a coverage map from your provider, maybe your local mast isn't able to give you 3g connections at all.Message Edited by OrosAraba on 26-03-2009 09:07 AM

Can someone confirm whether the Sierra Wireless HSDPA Network Adaptor is supplied locked or unlocked on the X60s? Just bought an X60s and was told the internal SIM slot is unlocked and would take any SIM card but for some reason it's taken an unhealthy dislike to my T-Mobile SIMs. When I load the ThinkVantage Access Communications Wireless Connection Staus window and click on the Mobile Broadbad tab, at the top above the Connection Status box I get the message "SIM card is locked...." When I load ThinkVantage Access Communications and press the Mobile Broadband button, I get the following message "The installed SIM card is not authorised for use with integrated Mobile Broadband adaptor in your computer." This latter message seems to suggest that Sierra Wireless HSDPA Network Adaptor is locked.

Hi, I have 3 x200 tablets that have the same issue, the integrated camera does not work, or is not detected by the OS. When i go to device manager there are three exclamation marks in there, two for PCI device and one for unknown usb device.I tried to fix it, but it doesn't work.I also tried to install drivers from the lenovo site and reinstall the operating system, but still the same issue occurs. If i take the hard drive from the tablet and put it into another tablet, windows installs something and the camera is working on the other tablet, but once i move that back into the original tablet the camera still doesn't work. I called tech support, but they keep saying its a software issue, while i'm pretty sure it is a hardware issue. Thanks.

Answer:Integrated Camera Issue X200

hey alexro1234,try uninstalling the camera software and its drivers. let windows install its generic drivers.once that is done, use any programs that can access the camera such as Windows Live Messenger. If it is able to detect it, that's good.after that, go back to http://support.lenovo.com , download the software and driver for the camera and install it.test again, is the result different now ?

Hi  I have recently upgraded from Windows Vista to Windows 7 64bit on my X200. Did a System Update and upgraded to the new bios. However, after doing so, the integrated webcam does not work anymore. I checked bios and there wasn't an I/O entry for the camera. Tried reinstalling the drivers multiple times but it still does not work. I have searched the forums and have noted that multiple users have posted regarding this and nobody from Lenovo has yet to give an answer regarding this issue.  Is there anybody out there who have faced such a problem and successfully solved it?  Thanks!

Answer:X200 Integrated Camera and Bios

this is most likely an issue with the webcam, my X200 had recently done the same and had to be sent into warranty for repair.

Hi all,I have issues getting mobile (3/4g) broadband to work with my new T470 Thinkpad. In Ubuntu, the Fibocom Adapter is only detected as a generic MBIM adapter, and although Network Manager (and it's applet) display my network provider, the connection is not established, and the system process mbim-proxy is hanging at 100% CPU. This issue has been reported here (but seems to remain unsolved ?) : https://www.spinics.net/lists/linux-usb/msg158286.html Did anyone get this to work?Best whishes and thanks for any hints!

I have a new X200 that I bought used.  The old owner installed a clean copy of XP, this was not a downgrade from the Vista Business that is available.  Rather, it was a clean new copy he had.  I installed the drivers off the Lenovo website required for camera usage, however I cannot see the camera in the device manager and when I tried simply to hook it up through Skype it was not detected.  Anybody have any suggestions on how to get this camera up and running properly on XP?  Any help would be much appreciated.  Thanks.

Greetings:For those of you who have the integrated AT&T or Verizon WWAN, questions:1. Are you glad you got the integrated option?2. Does this open take up a card / USB slot?3. Did you go with Verizon or AT&T? May I ask why you picked the one you did? If you could do it over again, would you have picked the same one?4. How is the support from the company you picked?5. Do any of you have a dedicated IP address from the WWAN Party? If yes, how easy was it to get? Did they also set up a reverse DNS for you?Thank you very much for your time.

I was looking at the new X200 but I don't see why it's called the Elite or what the difference it between the standard X200. Maybe a fresh pair of eye will help.

Answer:New Elite ThinkPad X200 with integrated graphics

"elite" models have higher minimum configurations compared to the normal X200s.   otherwise they're the same machine. if you configure a regular X200s to be the same as an elite, prices are completely identical.

Hello,I have a Thinkpad X200 and am using Windows Vista. My webcam was working just fine, but then all of a sudden it was no longer being detected. I've tried re-installing the drivers and that hasn't worked. Funny thing is, a week ago the day my warranty expired I called to get the problem fixed. The guy remotely accessed my computer and I was paying attention for the most part - all it seemed like he did was turn on the camera center and repair the driver.. and it worked! But here I am, a week later (I never checked the webcam since I saw it work) and my webcam no longer works. I tried doing what I thought he did, but it didn't work.Any ideas?!

Answer:X200 Integrated Webcam not Working/Detecting

hey moey,go to the device manager, uninstall the camera driver, disable the camera. restart the unit.back to device manager, enable camera. since this is vista, i'm not certain if it has built-in generic drivers; if it has, then vista will install generic webcam drivers.once that is done, test the camera again.do try the camera drivers that is available at http://support.lenovo.com

I've had the x201 tablet for over a year and have never been able to figure out how to use the integrated camera. Running Windows 7, 32-bit. Have looked at the other posts related to this problem but none helped.  Have installed Picasa, Skype, etc but nothing turns on the camera. I just want to take quick photos to upload to Evernote and to save time over faxing short documents.  And I want to be able to webchat on occasion. Am NOT technically savvy so maybe I'm just doing something stupid? Any help is most appreciated.

Answer:Integrated Camera - Stumped... How to use integrated camera on x201 tablet?

Hi, cavanaughmm

Does anything occur when you try to use the camera? If you haven't, make sure you have the latest driver, which can be found here. I'd also make sure that all the rest of your drivers and your BIOS have been updated, which can be found here. I would also enter the BIOS and make sure the Integrated Camera is enabled. To do this, turn the computer on and tap Enter a few times at the POST screen to interrupt normal startup. A menu should appear, at which you should press F1 to enter the BIOS. From here, navigate to Security ? I/O Port Access. Make sure the status of the integrated camera is Enabled.

Hope it helps,
Adam

Hi,. the particular model of my x200 is 7453-FJ9. I bought it from ebay and the seller claimed is was multi-touch. After checking on the Levono support page where you identify the machine features through the model # above, it does not mention anything about being touch capable let alone multitouch. However, since I installed a new copy of windows 7 pro 64-bit on a new hdd, after installing all of the automated lenovo and windows updates, I checked the system properties and it states 'Pen and Single Touch Input Available' as shown in my system properties screen below.

Link to picture

I have tried to use the single touch input but it does not seem to be working. I have tried calibrating touch input though the screen calibration and it has not worked. I have looked at the HCI devices in the device manager and it shows 'Wacom Penabled MiniDriver','Bluetooth Remote Control', 'HID Compliant Consumer Control Device' and several repeated entries of 'HID-compliant device' but nothing about touch input !

I don't understand what is going on, do you think this tablet has touch input available ? Should I try install the touch driver on the lenovo website ? the wacom website ? or am i just wasting my time thinking it has touch input since it is not mentioned on the 7453-FJ9 lenovo support page (that I can see). Any advice on this would be kindly appreciated..

Type in the first 4 digits of the model number and then the serial number of your machine.

Make a note of the Pt# of the display and the description and I'll see if I can get the specifications for your display.

New x200 with Win7 and integrated fingerprint reader using Authentec AES2810 driver and Lenovo Fingerprint Software 3.3.0.50.  Works great.  Added Preferred Pro Ext Keyboard with Fingerprint Reader. The external keyboard fingerprint reader doesn't work, ever.  Details: 1.  I installed Fingerprint Software v 5.8.2 located at http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=TVAN-EAPFPR.  Tried doing this on top of existing application and after uninstalling existing. 2.  Contacted Lenovo.  They sent me a replacement keyboard.  No change. 3.  In Control Panel > Devices & Printers, properties of Preferred Pro Keyboard:  Biometric Coprocessor does not have an associated driver.  Windows can't find one automatically, nor can it find one in downloaded package. 4.  I confirmed that Bios setting prioritizes external reader. 5.  Doesn't make a difference if I connect external keyboard to base station or directly to x200 usb port. 6.  Acceptable solution will use single instance of fingerprint reader software and fingerprint data with both input devices. I'd really like to have specific, stepwise instructions for curing this issue.

This issue was resolved in the Client Security Suite release for XP/Vista - you may want to read the release notes to see if this will resolve your issue in the Win 7 version.

I had this problem originally and on a clean install of xp and on a clean install of vista (which I'm currently using). The driver is installed, windows recognizes it, skype recognizes it and says it is functioning correctly.  However, when I go to take a picture or configure the video it is all black in skype.  There looks to be a little circle next to the camera on the lid that should light up when the camera is in use/i.e. skype video config?  Well nothing comes on : /.  And no, my brightness/contrast isn't set to 0.  Any ideas?

First time turned on this machine, the system complained about 5U875 device has no driver. I tryed to auto install but fails. I rebooted it everything looks normal. Now after running ThinkVantage update, 5U875 device has no driver error pops up again. 5U875 listed under other device at device mananger. Hardware id: VID: 05CA, PID: 18FF, device name Ricoh. I checked all version of Lenovo/IBM integrated camera drirver, they all show VID: 17FF, no wonder why it cannot install. I rebooted numerious, tryed to install other generic 05CA driver, all fails with error 10. But the dramatic thing is, after I fully turned off, then turned on. The 5U875 is back to normal, even no driver attempted to install. At this time, VID=17FF, PID=4807, vendor name: Lenovo. It seems to me 5U875 has two levels of control, 05CA:18FF is Ricoh controller chip, it is always ON. 17FF:4807 is webcam itself. This is controlled by BIOS or other hardware. Now it seems to me 17FF:4807 is not ON properally so the system complains.  Anyone has similar problem? I called Lenovo they asked me to send it back. But I don't believe it is hardware problem. More like webcam control at new BIOS has problem.

Answer:X200 integrated camera:hardware or software problem?

I havectly the same problem One day I turned on my X200 Tablet and I got a message that 5U875 Device has no drivers installed. Tried instaling the latest drivers from Lenovo for camera but no luck. Even turning the tablet completly off and on doesn;t help. The driver instalation just quits without any message.Anyone has an idea how to solve this problem and get the integrated camera to work ?

I am considering buying a Thinkpad Tablet. Of the available models the ones that come with a 2.13GHz processor are the two X200 models (NRS93GE and NRT9RGE). As far as I can see, as opposed to the X61 models, the thinkpad X200 tablet models do *not* come with a "digitizer pen".  Can one still use them to take notes? How does one write on them?

Answer:Pen for X200 tablet?

what is a tablet without the digitizer pen... the X200 tablet do have a digitizer pen.  http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170342459868 i think there is a picture of the x200 digitizer pen in the link provided.

Is the x200 tablet coming out in 2.13 Ghz?? I found that it said Lenovo Canada offered this... however I live in Canada and I do not see this option. I also called their Sales Rep and Technical support, and nobody was sure.... Anybody know? I've got an x200 tablet that doesn't do so well as a tablet.I've gotten everything from the dreaded blue screen when the pen is touched to it,  to it being totally unresponsive to pen input. Everything but the tablet issue seems to work fine. Hasn't been dropped, smashed or had any liquids poured on it. Also has (had?) an obnoxious amount of antivirus/spyware/ect. software.Downloaded every driver, went back to several restore points and even took it all the way back to its out of the box state with recovery disks.Took it into the tech/repair center at my university. They had it for three weeks and didn't know what to do with it either...It's still under warranty, but even if it's not somehow covered I'd much rather pay repair costs than buy a new computer. So what the heck do I do with it now? Send it back to the company? (Really resisting the urge to set it on fire.)

Answer:x200 not being much of a tablet

Which O/S are you running?   I have an X200T (7448-CTO) and, after about 1.5 years under Vista, it started to develop severe flakiness (e.g. frequent IE and Office app crashes) although the tablet functionality was still working OK.  I finally decided to bite the bullet and  install Windows 7 fresh (not an upgrade over Vista).  The process that Win7 uses is interesting in that it places the previous (Vista) Windows directory in something called Windows.old.   It does not reformat the drive nor does it delete any other directories on C:/.  That process worked great for me (NB was/is virus free) although, in your case, I wonder if it wouldn't be smarter to relocate all of your documents and settings (e.g. favorites, contacts) to another storage medium and, quite literally, reformat the entire hard drive before installing a new O/S.  After Win7 has completed, install the Lenovo ThinkVantage Toolbox and it will perform all of the driver upgrades which, in my case, went near flawlessly.   All of my peripheral worked right away including the tablet functionality.  I did have to recalibrate the pen/tablet and work through the handwriting recognition training, but those tasks are only tedious, not difficult.  The only small issue I had, initially, was a SmartAudio driver error which, somehow, fixed itself.    I know that some people have reported issues with Win7/Thinkpad compatibility, but I can only report a comp... Question: X200 Tablet Help

Hi. I am having troubles with my lenovo x200 tablet running windows 7 32-bit.Last night it was working fine but this morning i turned it on and went into windows but i cannot log on because it goes to sleep automatically every 5 seconds or so. The 4 indicator lights are also flashing instead of staying still like the wireless and bluetooth indicator light if that makes a difference. Help is appreciated. Thank you in advance =)

Answer:X200 Tablet Help

It sounds like the notebook is low in power, either the battery has no charge or is not holding charge (old/defective). If it's plugged in  AC outlet already, then possibly computer hardware issue. Please refer to page 23 in the "Service and Troubleshooting Guide". You might need to have your unit serviced.

Hi:I'm looking at purchasing the X200 tablet. I'm looking at the SL9600 offering as well as some of the other whistles and bells. What I am curious about is if there is any intention to replace the VGA port with a digital video interface such as HDMI as well as if there are any plans for a touch pad mouse. I'd hate to buy now just to have the VGA port replaced with HDMI next month. Also, I keep coming across all the different model numbers. Is there any good reference as far as the model numbers. I saw a posting here from last year with similar questions as mine and thought to get it updated.Any advisement on planned upgrades to the X200 in the near term by Lenovo would be appreciated and help me determine when to pull the trigger. Thanks

Hello, I was recently given a x200 tablet and was told that the screen supported both touch and stylus input. So far however I have only managed to get a response from the stylus. I'm running windows 7, Is there something that I'm missing or does this device only support the stylus? Any in site would be very much appreciated :}

Answer:Help with x200 tablet

Hi! I would first check if you indeed have a model that supports multitouch. Please go here: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/product-and-parts/partsLookup.page You'll then need to enter your machine type, which is a 4 digit code on the bottom of the laptop. Then enter the serial number (located right from the model type, it says something like S/N xxxxxx) and you will get a list of the components installed on your X200T. Try to identify the screen and post the resuts here. My 2 cents...

I'm looking to buy an X200 tablet for school this fall, but I'm curious about the Trusted Platform Module (TPM).  I'm not a big fan of having TPM on my personal use equipment, thought I do see the advantages in a managed IT infrastructure.  According to the maintenance manual there are motherboards available both with and without the "security chip"/TPM feature, but purchasing one separately is a joke (US$1,400 or more) considering the cost of the base unit itself.  When customizing a unit on the Lenovo store there is no option for purchasing without a TPM.  The tacover.pmd document lists the TPM as being integrated into the ICH9M chip, which is the reason for needing a whole separate motherboard to get a unit without a TPM. Long story short, is it possible to have Lenovo build me a unit with a non-TPM motherboard? Thanks in advance.

Answer:X200 tablet available without TPM?

you can switch off the feature in the BIOS, it would probably cost the same regardless.... but unless you have a large order of some sort, these sort of things are not negotiable on a single build basis.

Question: X200 Tablet

I got a X200 Tablet Thinkpad through my old school because it was part of the requirements. And i want to reformat my thinkpad but when i bought the thinkpad, i got no OS disk with it. How can i reformat it? Any help? Thanks ;D

Answer:X200 Tablet

Which OS are you using on the X200t? There is the recovery partition on the hdd, which allows you to recover the system to the factory condition (which reinstalls the OS + driver), you can burn the recovery media from windows provided you have the usb dvd/cd burner or the ultrabase with the ultrabay dvd/cd burner.
