I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have read all of the forums without luck. Is it possible to adjust the sensitivity of the touch pad? I have gone into the control panel and clicked through the mouse settings but there is no 'Advanced' or 'Synaptics' tabs allowing this to be adjusted. At the moment, I am using the FN + F9 to disable the touch pad altogether, however I am hoping that this is a short term solution. Thanks for any replies.

Answer:X200 tablet how can I find out which models are finger touch compatible

Well I would say that the most empiric way to do it is just try to touch your screen on some dialog boxes or pictures where gestures would trigger a reaction from the computer..... Indeed it's not very easy to figure it out from Lenovo support website ... I tried the product number but this only gave back basic characteristics of the machine, not the exact type of display/screen  I know mine is wacom enabled and (finger) touch compatible and I think I figured this out by... trying  http://shop.lenovo.com/us/landing_pages/multitouch_technology

This problem is starting to get quite annoying, I am not able to adjust the sensitivity of my mouse within a game such as halo or battlefield 2. Ican adjust it from my desktop, but once I open up a game it just speeds up again. the sensitivity is extremely high and it makes it difficult to play. I have this problem with both of my logitech wireless mice, and nothing seems to fix it, reinstallin the game or the drivers for the mouse

Answer:can't adjust my mouse sensitivity

I think in the Logitech drivers, there is a checkbox you can click to use driver settings over OS settings. There are a couple different versions of Logitech drivers, but try looking for that option.

I had the same problem, but I have a wireless keyboard for my HP TouchSmart PC.   After more than 3 years I have just gotten used to it and the problem basically no longer exists.  I think keyboards simply have a different feel, or level of force needed to use.  I think my keyboard has softened a bit with use, but not alot.  I think you options are get used to it, or replace it.  there is no adjustment possible.

Hi Lan,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I?m sorry to hear that you have touchpad issues with your Lenovo ThinkPad E431.

The first driver listed in your thread holds good for your device.

I would suggest you to go to Control panel -> Mouse. In the Ultranav tab, click on touchpad settings. Refer the below picture and adjust the sensitivity to light or heavy touch as per your requirement.

Hi, I had to reload WIndows 7 on a Ideapad z370.  Now the trackpad is way too senstive and causes indavertant actions that I don't intent.  I see information about how to modify the sensitivity using the UtraNav tab on the Mouse window. Those instrucitons make sense but I don't have an UtraNav tab.  I tried downloading the UltraNav add-on for WIndows 7 - but that software says it's for ThinkPads.  Anyway, it seems to install but I still don't have the UltraNav tab.  (I seem to remember using it to adjust the sentitivity long ago, so it was there once -- before the reinstall.) Any ideas on how to be able to change sensitvity and install UltraNav? Many thanks.

I recently reinstalled Windows 7 on my laptop. Prior to formatting, the mouse was working PERFECTLY. After formatting, the mouse is acting much differently. I am using the Synaptics software just as I was before I reinstalled Windows 7, and the mouse pad is MUCH more sensitive than it used to be when my palm hits it. If I type anything in the QWERTY row, my palm never fails to tap the mousepad and it screws everything up (you know how it goes).

I've gone into the Synaptics settings and changed palm check sensitivity and everything else on there that I think would help, and nothing does. Is this a Windows 7 issue? Does anyone have any suggestions on it?

Thanks

Hello All - I just noticed that my multi-touch (not enhanced multi-touch) screen no longer responds to finger touch; just pen. It used to respond to both before i upgraded to Windows 7.I tried the Lenovo diagnostic check for the touch screen, and during the test, it only responded to the pen. What should I do? Is there a certain driver i'm missing or need to uninstall and then re-install?Thanks in advance.

Answer:Post Windows 7 Upgrade - Touch Panel Not Responding to Finger Touch (x200t)

Ok...I think i really screwed something up. As per a Lenovo support tech's advice, i installed the Windows 7 "Enhanced" Multi-touch Driver, even though i do not have the enhanced multi-touch screen, and this is what it says on Lenovo's site about this new driver: "*1: ThinkPad X200 Tablet models with the Multitouch are NOT supported." "*1: ThinkPad X200 Tablet models with the ENHANCED Multitouch ARE supported." So, i go ahead and install it. I notice that finger touch now works, but the pen setting are now all screwed up! The eraser no longer responds when i turn the pen around to erase. It actually INKS with the eraser as well! OneNote no longer automatically starts inking (or erasing) when i bring the pen (or eraser) into range. I have to manually click on the pen icon (or the eraser icon) on the tool bar to use these functionalities! *groan* In the Tablet PC Input Panel: no eraser functionality (it inks instead!!) and even the button on the pen (which previously had the right-click ability) only inks when pressed down! I think i made my situation worse...Please Help! Adam

When I touch with finger, only thing it does is minimize or maximize window. When I change position of taskbar (with start menu and icons), it doesn't maximize/minimize.  I think this means that when I touch with finger, cursor clicks at bottom right corner of display, where there is button for maximize/minimize window

Yes, they do have a film over them.  I actually asked this very same question over on the Notebook Review forums because I wasn't sure either, when mine arrived last week.  Without and obvious loose edge to grab, it's not easily apparent that the film is there.  It is very thin - just work around the edge until your thumbnail catches it and then you can peel it off. I have no definite answer to your other question.  I think you may need to download an application to use it with - none comes shipped on the computer itself.

This is my problem. Apparently while typing, I am inadvertantly brushing the touchpad, causing the cursor to jump all over the place, and taking the typing with it. I almost never use a mouse, so I need to keep the touchpad active. Any help would be greately appreciated. And, please, keep it simple, since my computer expertise is extremely limited.

The T440 Touchpad is the WORST touchpad EVER!.  It actually renders the T440 completely unusable.  Previous models were okay.

It's WAY too sensitive.  When using the T440 Keyboard even something like your sleeve can move the mouse pointer while you are typing.  When I press the spacebar on the keyboard I tend to make contact with the touchpad which in turn moves the mouse.

The mouse buttons intergrated on this touchpad are unusable, too.  If you click or double click you will move the mouse around as well.

Also, as of the T440 they changed the connector for the docking stations.  So now our company's users that have received an upgrade for their laptop now also need a new dockingstation.

I was a real Lenovo fan. In fact it was I who suggested we switch from Dell to Lenove.  Mind you, this is a world wide orgainisation operating in all continents.  I even have 3 Lenovo's here at home (Thinkpad, Ideapad, and a netbook from Lenove).  But after this T440 touchpad issue I'm so pissed I will NEVER get a Lenovo again.

Also, the keyboard does NOT have a keypad intergrated.  We need the asterix from the touchpad occasionally to log out of shadow sessions.  This is no longer possible with the T440.

Whoever came up with the idea for this touchpad and for changing the connector to the dockingbay should be fired on the spot.

I have an ACER netbook, and when typing the cursor seems to move around, which messes up the flow of the sentences. I suspect that it is because the keyboard is small and close to the touch pad, and a stray finger, or cuff dragging on the touch pad moves the cursor, so the question is:

Just received my 2014 X1C Touch.  I'm noticing that the sensitivity on the trackpad is uneven.   When I "point" towards the Left or Down, it takes a lot of pressure while the mouse pointer moves very slowly.  Moving to the Right and Up, feels normal -- i.e. right amount of pressure for right amount of speed. Is there anyway the trackpoint can be calibrated?

Answer:2014 X1C Touch trackpoint sensitivity uneven

Hi Alexgrimmy,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I?m sorry to hear that Touchpad is having sensitivity issue in your Lenovo ThinkPad X1 carbon.

To reducing the touchpad sensitivity, go to control panel and open mouse option and in that check for UltraNav menu in that, you can check the below image for setting on that.

Please click here to change the touchpad sensitivity.

If you unable to find the UltraNav option in your system then touchpad driver is not installed in your system, you have to download the driver from Lenovo drivers page.

Hope this helps!

Best regards,

I recently purchased a X201 Model 2985F4U.  It has the multi-touch Wacom Penabled display.  I know the display is pressure sensitive, but the driver does not seem to support it out of the box.  Is there an alternative driver out there?  I need both features.  I'm a Software Engineer that works on Multi-touch applications but I also do sketching of prototypes.  I need Photoshop to read the pressure.  This was my sole reason for getting this model. I've read some posts in the past about X200 having to use multiple manufacturers drivers such as Fujitsu and Wacom Bamboo.  I'm about to experiment with that if necessary.  I would rather have a driver that Lenovo Supports though.

Answer:X201 with Multi-touch. Why no pressure sensitivity on Pen?

I share your pain.  When I first purchased my x201T tablet, I tried a Wacom Bamboo driver that was recommended by a tablet review website and was supposed to enable pressure sensitivity.  Once the driver was installed, the multitouch completely stopped working.  I uninstalled that driver, and then to my dismay, both the multitouch and the pen stopped working.  I then downloaded and reinstalled the default driver from Lenovo and both multitouch and pen input were re-enabled (though still without pressure sensitivity, and upon the re-installation, when using multitouch, a virtual mouse image appeared on the screen.  After reviewing several books on Windows 7, I finally found one that explained how to turn off this virtual mouse, which is called a "touch pointer" in Windows 7 and can be toggled off by selecting "Pen and Touch" from the Control Panel and un-checking the "Show the touch pointer when I'm interacting with items on the screen".  Since holding a finger against the screen for a few seconds is equivalent to a right-click, I prefer not to have the touch pointer visible).  This all took several hours (I'm not an "IT" person and don't have much confidence when it comes to installing drivers), but if anyone has found a specific solution that works, I'd be interested.

Answer:x200 Tablet True Multi-finger hardware capability

As far as I understand: No.Usually the term "Multitouch" means exactly what you are describing. But I think that IBM/Lenovo started using the term BEFORE the iphone-way (and the trackpad-way of MacBooks) became what's now meant by Multitouch. With Lenovo it simply means a screen with both pen and finger-touch capability. The hardware for a "true" multitouch system is based on a capacitative touch-technology, the X200 screen is NOT. Unfortunately...I think that at this moment Dell is the only company producing a "true" multitouch tablet. But Vista supposedly supports it. Martin

Hi,

The finger print scanner on my X200 has just recently started returning a "Bad Quality" response to finger scans for Windows Vista logon.
It had been working perfectly since purchase but all of a sudden (not gradually anyway) stopped successful scans for logging in.

My first thought is maybe a Windows update has broken something but I wouldn't know where to start looking, has anyone seen or heard of this or know how to resolve the problem, I find it hard to believe its a hardware issue as one day it was working the next day it wasn't.

Thanks in advance,
Josh

Hello Josh

This can happen from time to time. I recommend you to clean the sensor. I hope after cleaning it will work well again.

I'm at a complete loss. Why would I want my buttons to be touch sensitive? When I attempt to actually do what they're meant for, CLICKING, the cursor is moved off of my target. Right clicking is basically pointless to attempt. Then in (flash) games, where I need to both click and move the mouse at the same time, they are fighting each other to move in opposite directions. It's completely useless as it is. Am I missing something? Is there some voodoo trick that will allow me to do what every other laptop has been able to do for 20 years?

If not, is there some way to disable the touch sensitivity of the buttons, but NOT the entire trackpad?

Thanks

Answer:How do I disable the touch sensitivity of the trackpad buttons on my HP dv6t?

You should be able to do this if you go into control panel, click on mouse and make the adjustments there.

when you select release ring and the update service checks for updates, it will first update your phone to denim version and then check for updates after which 10586.107 will download. One more update check and 10586.338 should be downloading

Answer:finger touch on an X41

Hi netbeans, welcome to the forum, afaik, X4* tablets didn't have this capability. Depending on model X6* tablets do.So if you want to give your tablet "the finger" it had better be an X6* tablet.

I am using windows journal a having problems that I can not turn off finger input when writing with a pen. The screen becomes insensitive to a finger when I am about an inch away from the screen with the pen, but this is not enough to avoid accidental dots and lines with your finger. Can one either configure the pen distance from the screen from which on finger touch is disabled? Or can one disable finger touch altogether? I have been following some discussions on forums providing some workarounds, but maybe there is a simpler solution around?138

Hi, I have been baffled by this issue for quite a while now. I have a lenovo X220 tablet that supports both finger and pen inputs for touch. Originally this laptop came with windows 7 and everything was fine and dandy. I then bought windows 8/8.1 Pro 64-bit and did a clean installation of it. Now I only have pen support for the touchscreen, i.e. my finger is recognized as a pen/mouse not a finger which is really frustrating specially when scrolling. Now before I actually purchased the win8 license I had tried out the windows 8 release preview and everything worked perfectly then. So now when I got the actual release of the OS its not. Furthermore I currently have a dual-boot set up with windows 10 technical preview as my other OS and in there it also works perfectly fine as it should. This is important because when I contacted lenovo about the issue they suggested that my screen was broken, but clearly it is not.  Can anyone shed some light on this issue? It is a real shame not to be able to take advantage of this fine screen and windows 8 touch friendlyness.  Kind regards.

I am in an IT department at a small clinic in Idaho.  We have several X220's and X230's here.   There are several machines that have issues with the touch screen just stopping.  Nothing with the pen/finger will work.  The mouse still works, but nothing with the pen. We created a script that restarts the TabletInputService, the docs would run this script when the pen stops working.  That script works a majority of the time, but not always.  One of our docs just received a brand new X230 Type 3435-2TU 2 weeks ago.  She pen has stopped working several times in that two weeks.  She said that script only works a few times.  She has to reboot for it to work again....so rebooting works.  We can't have docs rebooting 3-4 times a day. Does anyone know of a permanent fix for this? Please help!!Desperate IT Guy!!

Hello everybody, this is my first post on this forum, from my first lenovo PC, so I'm truly a newbie. Just picked up my brand new x220t from a local reseller, and tried to configure it to fit my needs. During the process I realized I'm not able to configure the touchscreen nor use it. The digi-pen works fine though. 1. I've checked under Control Panel | Pen & Touch Devices. This window should have 4 tabs (the last on the right should read Touch), but it ain't there as if some functionality was missing. 2. I also tried to turn the touch screen on/off via Simple Tap. It does inform me that I'm about to switch the touch screen off (and as a matter of fact I'm not able to use it wth my fingers) but when I turn it on again the touchscreen still doesn't react to my fingers. 3. I've downloaded all the win7 as well as lenovo updates via the update managers, installed them and did a complete restart of the system - still no touchscreen. 4. Under device Manager I tried to find Wacom  devices, but couldn't find any. (the touch screen is a Wacom, am I correct?) 5. In despair I even started reading the pdf manual where one can read:  "Some models have the touch panel feature". This left me a little bit uneasy. Do ALL x220 convertible tablets have finger sensitive touchscreens? I have read the sticky thread about conventional vs. multitouch lenovo tablets, and I gather that the answer should be yes - all have finger input besides digi-pen. ... Read more

Answer:x220t - NYK27PB - no finger touch input

The models with the outdoor screen (the one that has a reinforced gorilla glass surface) don't have multi-touch, only pen support. If your model doesn't have the outdoor screen then it should have multi-touch support, if that is the case perhaps you should contact tech support? It's possible that it's just a hardware problem and needs replacing.  Also, the pen digitiser uses Wacom technology, as far as I'm aware the multi-touch system doesn't.

I hope I'm not making a mistake, I have a 6364-BV2, I assume it's multitouch (as long as the pen works, should finger touch work as well?) and I'm not able to use my fingers to touch anything on the screen. It's the low-rez version... I tried installing the multitouch driver but for nothing... I have xp tablet edition... Is it possible that my tablet doesn't actually have multitouch (finger touch capability) and only the pen is supposed to work? Thanks

Answer:x60 multitouch issue: finger touch won't work

Not all screen are multitouch capable, the pen have a special proximty device that the sensors on a layer on top of the screen picks up, unless the screen also has an additional sensor sheet for your finger, it would not work with your finger... There are two types of screen option one is Multitouch and Non-multitouch in the XGA format, and SXGA format is definitely non multi-touch.

Hi, So I successfully installed XP SP3 onto my C: partition (Y510) and everything works except for one thing:  The touch inductive multimedia buttons do not change the EQ settings.  The buttons physically work (i.e. they light up brighter when I touch them), but no EQ change.  I first installed Audio Driver I from the Lenovo website, then I downloaded and installed the WDM_R196 version as Audio Driver II (the version on the Lenovo website did not allow the front speakers to work).  Like I said, everything works now except that I cannot change the EQ with the multimedia buttons.  Is there something I'm missing?? Also, this is just my opinion, but I don't see much difference in startup, shutdown, and application loading between XP and Vista.  I have 2GB of RAM and 1.83 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo.  This comparison was made with a stripped down version of XP and with most of the unnecessary services turned off in Vista.  I actually think Vista loads and shutdowns faster than XP, and the application loading time is similar.  This threw me off because I thought XP would perform notably faster.   While idle, XP only uses about 400 MB of RAM and Vista was using about 750MB.  I'm thinking of giving Vista a chance.  Aside from all the bias to XP, are many of you still sticking it out with Vista?  I'm just hoping it doesn't end up like Windows ME - otherwise I'd be learning the Vista for nothing.

Answer:Touch Inductive Buttons Don't Adjust EQ in XP - Y510

It's a very strange behaviour - XP is much faster than Vista in all kinds of comparisons. Can't help with touch inductive buttons - isn't a Shuttle key desighned to switch EQ presets?

I've checked all drivers, tried uninstalling and reinstalling lenovo energy management, and I've still got nothing. Answer:X201T 2985-F4U -- Both finger touch and pen not working on screen

Hi and welcome to the forum!

The tabook says your model has multitouch (i.e. both pen and finger touch). Is this a new system you bought? If so, did you buy directly from lenovo? Did the touch ever work?

Try to install the following driver:- http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-74908

If the driver installation doesn't help, subsequently try Windows Update, look particularly for Touch Input driver, if even that doesn't take you anywhere, then give factory restore a go (after backing up your data), to do so, press ThinkVantage button on boot to access Rescue and Recovery, and choose restore to factory contents in the following wizard. Note that factory restore is only available on lenovo preloaded OS.

Keep us posted.

I have an x201 tablet and often use the pen with One Note. With Windows 10, it is impossible to lift the pen the slightest bit off the tablet without reactivating finger sensitivity. The result is that I get a bunch of scribbles from my hand touching the screen, and also inadvertantly hit other tabs etc while trying to write.Any suggestions?

Hi all,
I'm currently operating with a Dell Latitude (E6410) running Windows 7 32-bit. I have the default Alps touchpad built-in, and was recently ecstatic to find the driver for multi-touch on the Dell Support page, something I figured I'd never get privileged to since this doesn't have a Synaptics touchpad.
Everything works as it;s supposed to, as far as the options go under the Dell Pointing Devices menu. However, I noticed that two-finger options are missing, specifically a two-finger right click. This is odd, seeing as there are plenty of other two-finger options, and since two-finger right click has become a standard with multi-touch touchpads.
So my question is, is there anything I can do to get two-finger right click? I don't see any options officially provided by Dell, so I'm totally okay with installing software or drivers from somewhere else, as long as they work. I haven't been able to find anything myself, as it seems every driver and software in the world is developed with Synaptics in mind.

I have the exact same question. I see that this was posted 3 years ago without a solution / reply :(

Hi I finally decided to upgrade my 4 year old Ideapad Y550 and I am quite happy with my U310 so far. One thing I would like to change though, I've gotten used to one-finger scrolling using my Y550 and I would like to have that back. Is there any way in the U310 to chage to one-finger scrolling from two-finger scrolling? Thanks!

Answer:Ideapad U310 Touch single finger scrolling

This is based on the Elan touchpad. Do you think the one finger scrolling is similar to the edge swipe? Maybe its not enable. Two or more finger scrolling is under multifinger configuration menu. But there is no scrolling option in One finger menu but only the edge swipe option.

I'm befuddled. Two finger scrolling in Windows 10 dialogs, applications and Internet Explorer/Edge all works perfectly. However, Chrome is far too sensitive and the page blazes past. I can't adjust the scroll speed in settings because that affects all other apps (in other words they'll become way too slow!) Just to make matters more confused I've also got a Logitech mouse and the scroll wheel works fine everywhere - and this means if I install an extension in Chrome to configure scroll speed to work with the touchpad I will have slowed it down to a painful rate using the scroll wheel. Any clues how to configure Chrome two finger scrolling correctly? Is this an issue with the trackpad or Chrome?

Hello. I have a Lenovo Yoga 2 from work and we use it to get customer signiture on a web browser page for the company I work for. however lately. when a customer is trying to sign in the signniture box, it just move the whole screen around in a similar way to moving the screen with your finger. the only way it writes is when you hold the stylus down for a scond or two and then write without lifting it. but every time it leaves the screen then the same problem happens again. I tried to fix it from the touch screen settings but nothing seems to work. and advice on fixing this is greatly appreciated.

Just 2 days ago, a Lenovo staff on chat said that the X220 Tablet with Outdoor Display supports touch inputs but only for single finger actions.  He was very sure but then several posts on this forum seem to indicate that it has only the pen input. Can someone please confirm? 2. If the Outdoor model supports single finger input, is the display capacitive touch? 3. On the Multi-touch model, will the 2-finger scrollling, 5-finger gestures, etc. work in every application or is it application dependent? Thanks much for your help.

Answer:Lenovo staff says Outdoor Display is one-finger touch activated

I have the Outdoor as of yesterday, and it is not a touch screen.  It is Pen input only.  Can't speak for the multitouch models. Cheers,Gigs
