Thinkpad Yoga 14 barely works with a capacitive stylus

Question: Thinkpad Yoga 14 barely works with a capacitive stylus

Model number is 20DM, but sadly it's not pen enabled. So, i decided to try a normal capacitive stylus, and to my disappointment whenever i tried to draw a straight line, it jumped and drew a dotted line. Anyone else having this problem?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I just purchased a Thinkpad Yoga 14 (which was just released today), and I have to say, I am rather disappointed. After finding out there is no active digitizer, I thought I would be able to just use a capacitive stylus to take notes (the type of stylus with a rubber tip at the end). Well, turns out that it is terrible when it comes to detecting input from a capacitive stylus (trust me, I've tried them all). The main issue that I am running into with the capacitive stylus is when it comes to writing, where the screen doesn't recognize the stylus for a split second and will actually seem like it is skipping. Here is a picture to try and show what I am talking about. http://imgur.com/JlWSoUh.jpg     Another issue I just ran into is I am having a very hard time trying to wake it from sleep, where I try to open up the screen but all it is displaying is black. I usually have to close the laptop, wait for a minute or so, then open it up again. Very annoying.     There is also noticeable lag when scrolling using 2 finger scrolling. It's nothing compared to the Macbook lineup, where touchpad scrolling seems to be flawless.

Hello, everyone! Long-time lurker, first-time poster. Can anyone recommend a non-Lenovo screen protector for the Yoga 13 that does not reduce capacitance sensitivity? Unfortunately the official protector interferes enough that none of the styluses I've tried work reliably-- lots of skipping and unregistered contacts.I tried using my preferred stylus, a GoSmart Series 200, after removing the official protector, and subsequently scratched my screen. It's definitely not Gorilla Glass! Feels like the top surface might be plastic, actually...

The on-bezel windows button is extremely sensitive. So much so that I often activate it accidentally while using the laptop in tablet mode or writing. Is there any way to temporarily disable the button, at least while I'm using the laptop in tablet mode?

Hi,

When I connect Thinkpad Yoga (model 20CD00B1US) to the onelink dock, the stylus stops working.

In order to enable the stylus and Wacom driver following 2 options/ workarounds:
1)  Manually stop and restart the Wacom ISD Service
2) or reboot the machine while the Onelink dock is attached.

I'm using the latest 7.2.0-4 Wacom driver version, all latest lenovo software installed installed on the machine.

Both above mentioned workarounds are ugly, does anybody have a better suggestion to fix this issue?

Moderator comment: Subject edited here and below for clarity.

Had the same issue - a BIOS update just release about a week ago fixed it for me.

I would think the pen for the ipad with capacitative screen would work but has anyone tried it? And if so, does it require additional software?

Answer:Is there a stylus that works with the Yoga?

I haven't tried one myself, but when I was looking at it at Best Buy the guy I talked to (who actually was decently compitent amazingly) said he'd used on of the Yoga's during the Microsoft Windows 8 training and had used a stylus with it. What type I don't know, but a standard capacitive screen one should work.

After the media event yesterday, I tried to determine if the new ThinkPad Yoga 14 will be available with a stylus and digitizer. It looks like it won't. So I won't be buying one. Can anybody confirm or refute this? Ron

Hello everyone,I've been trying to use the Adonit Jot Pro stylus with my Yoga2 Pro, but I'm having very poor results. Most of the time when I try to draw, the Yoga recognizes it as if I'm trying to move around the screen and it doesn't draw at all. From time to time a little is jotted down. Is there any fix for that? Perhaps some setting I can change for the screen sensitivity or anything?I've been trying to use MS Paint and SmoothDraw. Plus, is there a way to use the stylus as a mouse, meaning the Yoga will show the cursor when I move the stylus around? In Khan Academy videos that seems to be the case. Thanks in advance!Omer

So I got my Thinkpad p40 a few days ago and so far it's been great, with just one problem. The small stylus, the one that's housed in the body of the laptop doesn't work. I'm not sure if the pen itself is defective, or if the charging port is. The separate full-sized pen, the Thinkpad Pen Pro (4X80H34887) functions just fine. I've left the laptop plugged in overnight multiple nights but to no avail, and there doesn't seem to be any 'pen charging driver' in the driver list, just indicators. I've tried various programs, including Lenovo's low battery indicator and the laptop stylus simply doesn't work at all. The Pen Pro works in all the same situations. Does anyone have suggestions? Thanks!

Just received a new thinkpad yoga s1, when using the Onenote application there are section on the middle of the screen that stylus will not write on unless more preasure is applied. Also I notice that if I slide the stylus accross the screen it does not moves smoothly it feels like it gets stucks at time the actual tip. I do not see nothing wrong with the tip that will show any damage. I recently had a surface pro 2 for 1 week and the stylus was very smooth to use and never had any isssues. Can this unit have some hardware issues? Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks

Yoga thinkpad 20cd. I have the original stylus that came with the lap top as well as an aftermarket LIfebook stylus. The screen doesn't register either stylus. When i go to the windows pen calibration the stylus works fine. The calibration consists of tapping targets with the stylus pen. It is very accurate. Soon as i close the calibration window the stylus doesn't interact with the screen at all. I assume I must have changed some setting by accident or it occurred with an update. The stylus use to work a few months ago. I have tried messing with my display settings to remove the adaptive brightness at one point and may have selected a wrong setting. Thank you for any help provided.

I have two problems i amd struggling to get support from Lenovo on..  1. When i connect my P40 Yoga to a 2nd Display and set my desktop to extended mode. When ever i right-click the 'context' menu that appears is not in the same location as where the stylus is. It appears to be offset based on the amount of total desktop space (becuase its extended) rather than just the actualy lenovo laptop screen. (which is the only screen thats compatible with the stylus). Any suggestions? 2. This one has only started happening recently. The Wacom service: Tablet Service for ISD Driver is constantly using 75% of my CPU and generally makes the device unusable. If i disable the service i am no longer able to use my stylus.. (which is the whole point for buying this laptop at $2000!). It continues to use 75% of my CPU no matter what i do (even when not using the stylus). It appears to use more and more memory over time as well.. Who should be fixing this Lenovo or Wacom?  ?

Hi Guys I am using my new Thinkpad Yoga and I am happy so far.Unfortunately I lost my pen/stylus a few days ago and of course, the tablet/ultrabook is useless or just a normal notebook without a stylus. However, I failed to find a spare-stylus which fits in the case. Could you direct me to a webshop or something were I can buy one? And, as it is related to this topic, do you know any other stylus which work with this tablet? The original one is fine but to work all day long with the normal stylus it is a bit to small / thin. Best regards Schneeele

Does any of the 14" or 15" thinkpad yoga's support stylus? If so, could you tell me the exact model and exact stylus to get?

Answer:Does Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 14/15" Support Stylus?

Hi

It may help you to know the exact model number of your Thinkpad Yoga and check the PSREF Books: http://psref.lenovo.com/Book

Some TP Yoga support it and some not.

On my case I have a TP Yoga 14 (full model number 20DM008UUS) and it works with the Thinkpad Pen Pro (4X80H34887).

Hi there...  First time user,  just bought an X1 Carbon Gen 3, still waiting on delivery.I'm currently using a Sony Vaio which has a dedicated Active Capacitive Stylus which I love.  I bought the high res touch screen model of the X1 but it doesn't come with a pen, so I'm wondering if it is capacitive and if so could someone recommend a pen.  I'm giving my wife the Sony, which means she'll get my beloved pen too, which is a bummer.  Thanks

My brand new Thinkpad Yoga doesnt register pressure from pen input. I've tried installing drivers and hunting around the settings but nothing is working. My Thinkpad did come with a stylus and stylus support and it is registering a curser when the pen is above the screen but pressure on the screen with the pen doesnt work. Thanks for your help.

Answer:Thinkpad Yoga pen/stylus doesnt respond to pressure

Which program are you using to test the pressure sensitivity? I know that there's a specific Wacom driver you have to install, "Wacom Pen" See this topic: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-Edge-S-series/Thinkpad-Yoga-Digitizer-pressure-sensitivity/td-...

After looking around a bit I couldn't find anyone with this particular problem, but maybe I missed something.  At any rate, my problem is that any time I use the stylus near the top or left hand side of the screen, it simply stops working. On the left side, it simply won't go the last centimeter over. It's as if it thinks it's reached the edge of the screen.  At the top centimeter however, it gets stuck. If I move the stylus up into that area, it will reach a certain horizontal line. Moving the stylus up further will cause no vertical movement and spastic, oversensitive horizontal movement. However, if I start moving my stylus down, the cursor begins to very slowly move up. The curser will stay in the top centimeter of the screen until the stylus is touched somewhere in the bottom fourth of the screen, whereapon the cursor will snap back to where the stylus actually is. If the stylus touches the screen anywhere while it's 'stuck,' it will click at wherever it seems to think it is, which very often causes unwanted closing of tabs or windows.  This problem does not occur when using touch. If I use my finger, the computer can accurately tell where I've pressed it, even if it's in the areas that cause problems.   Is there a problem with the software/drivers? Is the pen faulty? Or is there something wrong with my screen?

Hello, A shallow search turns up many results of people making claims of the "functionality" of capacitive styli, including a variety of generic, the Wacom Bamboo (?) and the Adonit Jot series. After watching a video on the Adonit Jot Script on an IPad, I grabbed one from Amazon, and was sorely disappointed.  Does it "work?"  Yes.  I can interact with the screen with the stylus, but without palm rejection, it's truly useless as a writing tool. So, at the risk of sounding redundant, does anyone know of a capacitive stylus that works with Windows 8 specifically the Twist hardware that also has palm rejection?  Thanks, Matt

Unsure why I can't edit my post.I spent some time researching the digitizer/touchscreen and figured out that it is made by a company called Atmel (looked up the PCI Vendor ID/VID from the HID-Compliant touchscreen in devmgmt.msc). It is of the maXTouch series, although I can't determine which class (I couldn't find the Product ID/PID).I did, however, figure out that Atmel makes a stylus that's compatible with a few classes of their digitizers called the maXStylus. Searching around on electronics suppliers, I learned quickly that, although being sold at the "low low price" of ~$5USD at several sites, that the minimum order is 6000, and requires a direct manufacturer order.I then wrote an email to the customer service people at Atmel. It's clear that they may or may not entertain my request for info, being that they are an B2B electronics manufacturer, not an B2C/end user vendor. In effort to find the stylus, I came across the fact that it is used in a few HP laptops (as well as a few others). The good news? Here's a youtube video of an "unboxing": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jkSuBY35-1YHere's two HP links to the same exact model (one is a "smart buy" which basically means nothing for the part itself):HP Executive Tablet Gen2 Pen: http://h30094.www3.hp.com/product/sku/10754734/mfg_partno/F3G73AAHP Executive Tablet Gen2 Pen SmartBuy (~$10USD cheaper): http://h30094.www3.hp.com/product/sku/10754735/mfg_partno/F3G73UTThe bad news? Hey everyone! I purchased the Thinkpad Yoga 14 around mid-July and love it, but I can't use the pen's erase button in Onenote 2013. It wasn't working in Photoshop for a while, either. It works with every other Office program that supports pen input (word, excel, powerpoint, etc.) I did some research, and read a few comments that said Windows 10 fixes the issue with the erase button.  I upgraded to Windows 10 today, and while the erase button works in Photoshop now, it still isn't working in Onenote. I'm at a loss here. I can't figure out how to fix this for the life of me, and nothing else I come across online has been helpful. Does anyone know how to fix this??? I use Onenote to thumbnail drawing concepts and comic pages; so, I do a ton of sketching and am using the eraser every few minutes. Not having access to a quick erase button is really frustrating.  Edit: Nevermind. I figured it out on my own. For whatever reason, I had to go to the pen control panel and tick the box "Use the top of the pen to erase ink (where applicable)". That seems to have fixed the issue.

Hello friends, I need help to decide if my new TY is OK or I better send it backThe stylus should move the mouse when hovering, and click/write when touching the screen. The problem is, that the stylus sometimes clicking/writing when only hovering. Since it was annoing that sometimes my hovers got into the paint, I sent it to my retailer to have a look. The retailer say that the problem gone when turning the stylus sensitivity to low, that is, he wants to change the manufacturer's default setting. Is this a proper solution? I believed that it shouldn't happen out of the box, and that I don't have to lower anything.  I can still send it back and get a new Thinkpad Yoga if it isn't a normal behavior..BTW: I tried to update the pen firmware and the BIOS but it didn't help. Thanks a lot for helping

Not normal behavior and accepting a software setting is only a "quick fix". - The retailer should give you a full refund/replacement/repair depending on circumstances. It may also be a faulty stylus only.

Hi everyone. I bought a Thinkpad Yoga almost 7 months ago. Everything is working fine, except for the awful stylus. Initially, the stylus works "ok", having a little delay sensing that my pen is off the screen. But lately, it is getting so bad, I suspect the pressure sensor is stuck. This causes the pen to be writing stuffs even when i'm just hovering above the screen. I attached an image to show what this would cause in a typical writting example:     As you can see, when I lift my pen to write the next character, it is still stuck on writing mode, causing streaks to connect every single character i write. It is totally unusable! Frustratingly, I went to this webpage to "Submit a Service Request". I received phone calls for awhile stating that my pen is on backorder, but after a week, my request just disappeared from the system! I tried again the second time, but the same thing happened allover again. Please help!

Answer:Thinkpad Yoga Stylus/Pen totally unusable. Support ticket got deleted.

The stylus is truly awful, I'm on my second one already (after 10 months) as tips are not replaceable and scratch the screen when they wear. And this bloody joke of a pen also costs over $40 in Australia. Didn't go to Lenovo warranty over the pen, just bought a new one - but I'm in the process of getting warranty service for my screen at the moment (as described here) so I can feel your pain. It may be worthwile to send a formal complaint email to the support email and see if this makes them move a bit faster.

Hi Kevin.
Welcome to the forums.

Can you check a little bit more on the "Control Panel - Sound - Playback tab" and do some test and checks the configuration of the sound device?

Check the "Configure Speakers" and "Test" so you can test the stereo of the device.

If you don't find anything else, my second guess will be to try to update the Audio driver of that machine. Can you please post the full model number of your machine to point you to the device driver?

I bought my Yoga 370 in the summer and I should have asked this earlier. Also in the summer, I reinstalled Windows completely. Afterward (I am not really sure if it happened before, but I don't think so), the pen would only write at certain angles: only when held so that the buttons are under my thumb, and also considerably inclined (it cannot be close to perpendicular to the screen). I have been doing ok with this limitation for a while, but it is really bad for the ergonomy, and it's a pity I can't feel more free to just write on the screen in whatever position and angle. But now I really want this to be fixed. 80% of the time, I use the Yoga 370 to write notes in OneNote. Any ideas what could be wrong? Software or hardware? Do I have any rights to get a new pen if that is the problem?

Hi All,
I am using the phone for past 10 months and updated my lumia 720 to cyan from black 2 weeks back with windows 8.1 update. After 3-4 days the capacitive touch buttons start to work automatically and only way to stop it is lock the phone. It only happens at random point and dont know how to bring it up again.
I walked into Nokia Care twice where the phone worked without any hitch and I tried as much as I can to bring it up in front of them, but I couldn't. They ran the full test in system and said the phone is alright and I can continue using it.
But as soon as I reached home it started again and went next time, again phone was behaving properly and they gave it back. Today it started in the morning itself. Any idea what triggers it and how to bring it up to show Nokia Care.
Thanks & Regards,
Sundar.

Today my digitizer stopped working for the first time since I purchased my Thinkpad Yoga several years ago. Touch screen still works as normal. I don't think it's software related because I dual boot Windows and Ubuntu and it doesn't work in either operating system. Before it would work in both operating systems, and I haven't had any updates since it was last working. Is it possible for the digitizer itself to be broken somehow? I haven't dropped the device or spilled any liquid on it. I've read elsewhere on the forum that the digitizer is powered by a capacitor that is charged within the laptop. Is this still true for Thinkpad Yogas? Are there steps I can take to diagnose the issue?

Recently I found out that my lenovo yoga 710-15ikb laptop doesnt support digitizer active pen technology. Its hidden in online talks and also frustration when you buy a $70 wacom bamboo ink pen to find that it doesnt work. I understand that most active pens wont work with my computer because the screen (and maybe motherboard) dont have a digitizer. However, I have been looking online and some retailers appear to be selling digitizer lcd screens for my specific model. My question is whether or not these retailers are selling aftermarket screens and if they are will the digitizer work once one is installed? Also, I have a lot of experience doing repair work, mainly with digital cameras and building my desktop, so the task of replacing my laptops screen is not a problem Im just unsure as to whether or not buying a new digitizer lcd screen will work. I dont want to spend money that I dont have to if it turns out that I am just being misled.

Thanks!

Let me know if you need more clarification I'll be around for a while.

So there I was, trying to install the driver for my XBOX 360 wireless receiver. Some bloke off another forum told me that I needed to uninstall the driver for the unrecognizable device that was my wireless receiver. I did so and proceeded to restart my computer. It booted up and noticed my volume bar icon had a red cross through it. Clicking on it only brought me too a "Attempting to Fix" progress bar which inevitably failed.

I tried to open my web browser to look for a solution and had a "Could not contact DNS server" spat in my face. I tried to open the Network and Sharing Centre but it told me that that feature was currently unavailable. Tried running a virus scan in AVG but lo and behold, the scan button was unresponsive. Eventually decided to screw it and just run a system restore but ironically (and very frustratingly) it brought me an error. Now my first guess is that I need to reinstall windows 7 but I currently don't know where my CDs are and would like to know my options before taking that plunge.

Thank you very much for your time, and thank you in advance for your help.

Hi, can you help me with my stupid problem? I have 2 questions: 1) Is there a way to enable trackpoint to work with the capacitive layer? I.e. to be able to use it without physically pushing the pad down. Now, as soon as I touch the trackponit, it disables light clicks (touches) of the touchpad, I guess to prevent unintended palm clicks 2) Is there anything I can do to make the buttons work again? (See the story below.) I have cleaned it all even inside, but there were almost no stains at all anyway, none on chips or cables. And it partially worked just this morning.I guess I could soak it in water, then ethanol, and finally dig into rice grains for a week or two as a last resort...but I hope for a more electronics-friendly solution. Story:I spilled my coffee into the keyboard and touchpad, and even though almost no water got onto the motherboard (a few drops), I cut off the power supply in less than 10 seconds, and I cleaned it all thoroughly (even managed to get inside the touchpad itself and assemble it all back...what a pain), it works weird. At first, it registered about 1/10 or 1/20 of physical button presses (depressions of the pad). So technically it somewhat worked. The capacitive (touch) layer worked fine including multitouch. Then I tried to just click on it repeatedly for about 100 times rapidly, and it started to miraculously work 100% fine...for about 30 minutes, then it returned to the 1/20 state again. But as soon as it started to work fine,... Read more

i recently reformatted my computer, and it worked fine up until a few days ago when it suddenly stopped working completely (it didn't even load windows).
i went on a vacation, and after returning from the vacation it suddenly loaded windows .
but now when i load windows it looks like its in safe mode (its not), the explorer bar is gray and everything looks almost like windows 98.
ok, this is just how it looks, now lets get to the real problems:
i can't right click the desktop, explorer.exe crashes.
i can't open the control panel, exploer.exe crashes.
i can't save a photo from the internet to my computer, not in firefox nor in internet explorer.
at least firefox still works so i can still write this

please help, thanks in advance

Answer:Computer barely works

Hi Shadowbeast; It sounds like a hardware problem to me. What kind of machine are you using ? If you can open it up by removing the left hand panel, start it up and just feel how much heat your hard drive is generating and be sure to earth yourself (i usually roll my sleeves up past my elbows and rest my forearm against the metal chassis), i have encountered this problem and it was caused by overheating hard drive and the motherboard was also faulty and thats probably why your graphics are affected; it all stems from cheap power supply units starting to spike as they get the mileage clocking up. All this may or may not have happened to your pc and its difficult to be sure without tests but it does sound like your hard drive is playing up.

I have a 4 month old Dell Inspiron 8600. It should work fine, and it was working fine until recently. Every time i turn on my computer, it works fine and up to speed. And then, usually while i'm listening to music, everything kind of freezes and moves really slowly. the music skips, i can't click on anything, the mouse barely moves and jumps all over the place and i can't open any program or document. I let it sit for about 10 minutes and when i open task manager it says my CPU is at 100%, yet there is nothing taking up the majority of the CPU, its system idle process, and the task manager and there is nothing suspicious taking up space. After it freezes it starts working but very slowly, when i type the words show up slowly and clicking on something or opening something takes up to 5 minutes.

I've run McAfee antivur, panda antivirus, adaware, BHO demon, a couple trojan detectors, a PC bug doctor, and i downloaded a program that showed all of my processes and how high each of their threats were: for all of these, no problems. I have no idea what to do, any advice?? please help, my computer works for about 10 minutes at a time and then i have to restart it, i feel like whatever is going on is getting worse.

Answer:Computer barely works

Please download HijackThis. Create a folder at C:\HJT and move HijackThis.exe there. Run a scan and save the log file. Post the whole log file here. Do not fix anything since most of them listed there are harmless (some are system required). This program will help us determine if there is any spyware/malware on your computer.

We'll get 'er running smooth again!!

I just finished working through the security forum suggestions for identifying and eliminating any viruses that may be on my wife's ASUS laptop. Unfortunately nothing was detected and the problem is still not solved.

Symptoms: Internet Explorer is extremely slow, virus scans, control panel, microsoft office, and pretty much everything else is slow. Windows needs updates but they premenantly stall in the "preparing to install" stage. Java updates never work either, but for whatever reason I can update Trend Micro our antivirus. It just takes a while.

Photos, music, documents are stored on other pcs but we don't have a backup cd to crash the laptop and restore it to factory settings.

This is the link to the security forum post.

Answer:Windows 7 barely works but no virus...?

Hi pleas open a cmd prompt by right clicking and choosing runas administrator and type the following cmd:
sfc /scannow

let it run and fix anything it finds and re-boot if prompted to do so to complete fix.

Again at a cmd prompt as admin type: chkdsk /r and restart Laptop and let it begin and finish.

These scans can take a long time so please be patient.

Then boot into windows and see if any improvement please update us as to the situation.

First off;The TrackPoint is a mystery as to why it's there... I really don't get it so I just let that be.Synaptics installation notes says "The TrackPoint driver does not need to be installed on the UltraNav models." <- So why did the installer not present me that option? Second; The mechanical buttons around the touchpad are halfway there.Uninstalling Synaptics and letting Win take care of it makes the lower buttons work but not the top half (weird as f--k).I've reinstalled Synaptics and cleared the registry severall times with no improvement. To make the upper buttons work I have to disable buttons in TouchPad settings - other settings does no good.Hardware scan says nothing's wrong so I have no idea why Synaptics can't make it work.T430 TouchPad TrackPointI've lived with this issue for some time but what really bugged me was lately when I started playing the game Dawn of Steel by FlareGames: I could not pan or tilt within the so called orb (a map system in DoS) - not with TouchPad nor with an externall mouse. Flaregame support gave nothing. So I started the time consuming work investigating the system. Found out that by killing the process 'synaptics pointing device helper' the movement within the game works - no change in buttons though...Is it just me?

The internet shuts off after a couple of hours and I have
to restart the computer.

Pop-up keeps appearing even when a web page isn't open.

Whenever I look up anti-virus software on Google, I get redirected to generic search sites

That appeared after I searched "anti-virus" on Google and tried to go to the AVG site

I also got redirected to comparestores.net, comparedby.us, scour.com, etc.

Earlier, the desktop wallpaper and icons were wiped and I couldn't access task manager. A fake anti-virus program kept trying to run and diagnose a bunch of trojans. I had to system restore. I can't remember the name of the program

My computer was recently attacked by some spyware or malware or whatever it is. I have used every anti-virus posted in these forums but the problem is still not fixed. I have a cable modem and the internet used to be extremely fast but is now slowed to almost nothing. The problem also exists in my firefox browser. I think it's a vundo trojan because some of the anit-virus' turned it up, but they supposedly got deleted. Two popups are also appearing, one is for reditty while the other has just numbers at the top of the name panel, it almost looks like and ISP number. My games all run very fast online as well, but the browser is slowed to the point where its useless. everything else on my computer runs fine too. I am on a 1.5mb dl/512kb upload wireless Internet connection which is ran through a network with a max of 13 computers. No router installed, just a server. Well we had our ISP come in and say that the radio is running fine. This is because they base it off of packet loss. Well whenever I ping our gateway or anything else for that matter there is maybe a 0-3% loss. (Almost always 0%) If I go to the Internet I end up getting page cannot be displayed. If I keep trying it will eventually get there. I have no idea what is going on. I am aware that a ping and http are different, but I just don't understand why it isn't working correctly.

Answer:Solved: Pinging 0% loss, but Internet barely works.

Still having the same problem. Messanger and pings work fine. Did a port scan from outside the network and found that the isp is filtering port 80. Hopefully this will help clarify some things.
Thanx

Hi, I wonder if anyone can give me any help regarding a problem with my new Lenovo Yoga 300. If I let the battery drop below 20%, it basically becomes unusable. It operates horrendously slowly, and no internet browsing is possible. I've already switched the settings so that it doesn't automatically change to battery saving setting when it drops below 20%, and that made no difference.  Should I be plugging in to recharge BEFORE the battery drops below 20%? Thanks! Answer:Lenovo Yoga 300 barely usable below 20% battery

Same here with the Yoga 500 below 30%. CPU max 30%.

Hi I just bought a Lenovo Yoga from Best Buy, and I've never owned a Lenovo system before
Playing on the weekend with it I really like it, but the left mouse button on the trackpad sticks periodically and makes it impossible to click the left mouse button unless I first click the right mouse button to unstick it (as in, physicially stuck, if I use a third party mouse there's no problems)

Is this a problem with the Yogas or did I just get a bad one?

Edit: Also the battery life on this thing is absolutely horrendous:

The worst I've ever seen in a notebook, it's been off the charger for 15 minutes

Edit: down to 73% in just a few minutes, I don't understand why all the reviews said this thing gets like six hours, just casual browsing and I'm set to run out of battery in 40 minutes

For those of you interested, I got my Dagi stylus today ordered via ebay for $12 shipped. It looks very nice, feels good in the hand and is lightweight.  The tip is thin and flexible and looks a bit fragile, but seems to be glued on pretty strong. I tested this with regular touch points, drawing and writing.  It worked great for each.  The dot in the center of the tip makes for a very accurate touch point.  I calibrated the system using it and it was a little tough because some of the points are on the VERY edge of the screen.  The 2s10-3t has a gap between the screen plastic and the actual screen and the stylus actually slides underneath to hit the points.  After calibration, this isn't an issue. So, it is way more accurate than the pogo and also less of a risk to scratch the screen.  It flows well so I can use cursive and fine for printing also.  I strongly recommend this to anyone looking for a stylus solution...it is so far the best I've seen.  This thing also works on the iPhone for those wanting dual-purpose.  I'll try to post a video of performance soon. Dave

Answer:Dagi stylus review - works VERY WELL with S10-3t

Glade to hear another user that picked up the dagi. I saw a youtube video of a user showing off the dagi on the s10-3t and it looks very promising. I am definetly going to consider this pen if I pick up the s10-3t. I am still thinking over the purchase or if I should wait. Looking forward to your review. - Garrett

Hi All, I recently purchased Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 14 and am hoping to use this laptop for online trainings. I use an interactive classroom software for drawing diagrams, etc. Currently I use my finger for drawing, however, I would like to use a stylus. There is no official stylus for this model and I've already purchased two styli that did not work (Belkin and Wiacom bamoo). Strangely, the same styli work flawlessly on tabs and smartphones. Does the screen of of Lenovo Flex use some different kind of capacitative touch technology? If yes, could you suggest which stylus would work smoothly with this model? Thank you!

Answer:Flex 14: Looking for a stylus that works with this model

As far as I've tested, the Flex 15 is a standard capacitive 10-finger display. There's no reason a run-of-the-mill $10 capacitive stylus wouldn't work.

Capacitive touch uses liquid (in our case, water in our hands) to detect touch. The round bottomed rubbery styluses should work fine.

Question: Yoga 2 Pro Stylus

Hi All,  I'm considering purchasing a Yoga 2 Pro (although I'm fairly concerned about the yellow color issue...). I was curious about how well the Y2P behaves with a stylus -- I may be interested in taking notes with OneNote or Evernote while in tablet mode and I was curious how well it behaves. I understand it doesn't function with an active stylus (?) -- are the "cheap" stylus pens pretty effective? Thanks!

Hi,I know this topic appeared a few times before on this forum but I am really confused especially after a Lenovo employee told me via pohne I could basically use any stylus on the Lenovo Yoga 510. I would be very grateful if someone could help me.I read this article:http://www.howtogeek.com/177376/not-all-tablet-styluses-are-equal-capacitive-wacom-and-bluetooth-exp...As i figured Lenovo Yoga 510 has a different touchscreen (no wacom technology, no digitizer?) than f.e. Yoga 460, which is much more expensive. Is that correct? Is that why I can not use f.e. the ThinkPad Stylus? Or was the employee right and it doesen't matter?if not, is there any kind of alternative for the Yoga 510 apart from the cheap pens with the thick tip? I want something that is somewhat precise. I saw pens with a battery that appear to be capacitive by generating a small electromagnetic field like your finger but have a thin tip. Are these the only alternative for Yoga 510? Does the pen for Lenovo Think Pad definitely not work? What about the pens that comunicate via bluetooth mentioned in the article? Could they be an alternative for the Yoga 510?If there is no real solution for Yoga 510 and there was a Lenovo Laptop with a similar price than Yoga 510, with similar performance and with digitizer I would consider changing mine but from what I saw the notebooks with digitizer are either much more expensive (like Yoga 460) or have a lower performance (like yoga book) is that correct?Thank you very much.

So about a week ago I bought a stylus pen that I believed would work with my Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro, but it didn't (that was my own fault for not looking more into it). So, I ended chatting with a support person about at first if there was any way I could get the pen to work, which there was not. So I asked this same person, someone who works at Lenovo support, what they would recommend as a good pen to use with my specific computer. They told me the Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga Digitizer Pen would be a good fit, so I ordered it. It came in today, and it turns out this pen is also not compatible with my computer. While I am very frustrated that this pen, which was recommended to me by a Lenovo employee who was fully aware of what computer I had, was not compatible, I am still in need of a stylus pen that will work with this computer. I have a Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro that I am using to help me through college, so any pen that has some of button or something that will easily get me to an eraser mode would be ideal, but not necessary. Also I am not a fan of the soft tipped kind of stylus, so I would also like to avoid that. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Question: Yoga 900 stylus

Hi,  I know this has the ability to write in documents such as one note, but I was wondering if anyone had any good suggestions for a stylus that works well with the screen and doesn't cause any scratches or imperfections to the screen. Thank you.

Answer:Yoga 900 stylus

Hi dbabiasz  ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

With the Yoga 900 stylus , similar discussion that you can read  on this thread .

In terms of  scratches or imperfections to the screen from the stylus, that we are not certain at the moment.
Users of the  Jot pro and Dot Pen haven't noted any remarks on it so most likely there's no significant effect on-screen.

One thing that we are sure is that another users verified compatibility and ease of usage with that device.
Try to read through the full discussion regarding additional remarks that would be good to know during purchase.

Hope this helps you.

Regards

Answer:stylus pen for yoga 900

No, The Yoga 900 with a Core i3,i5 or i7 does not support an active stylus. But, the 900S does. Unfortunetly, it comes with only an M7 processor. Though, I suppose that it is probably an great laptop. Not .one wants or needs a ton of power. So, if you are in the market for a lower powered laptop, here is the link. Mind you, it has not been released as of yet. http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/lenovo/yoga-laptop-series/yoga-900S/#tab-features

For the love of God...  can *anyone* recommend a stylus/pen that actually WORKS with the Yoga 14, and that has a fine pointed tip like a normal pen?  I hate those rubber "eraser ended" styli.  I've been all over the internet trying to find an answer to this, and everything I've seen is either evasive or incomplete.

The internet homepage was taken over by a spam page,  went in and changed it back. Ever since, internet has been running extremely slow and many sites won't even open. Computer itself seems ok as far as OS, HDD etc.
Anything to be done or checked here or is this just an issue with my internet provider?

Within the past week, I've noticed that my Dell Stylus has had very intermittent operation.  I'll place the tip very near or on my touch screen and there is no 'dot' in that location; this indicates that the stylus is not working reliably.  I replaced the AAAA battery with a new battery (confirmed the new AAAA battery is good with a 1.59 Volt charge), yet the issue continues.  The laptop's touch screen has no issues when the stylus stops working and I have to keep using the touch screen when the stylus stops working.  I even unscrew and rescrew the cap (where the battery is located...  thinking this will turn the stylus OFF and back ON) to no avail.  The pen worked fine with no issues up to this point.  There were no issues after I upgraded from WIN8.1 to WIN10 almost 4 weeks ago. Is there a Dell Stylus or HP screen driver that I need to update/re-install?  Any ideas how to fix this issue as I need to use the stylus most of the time I am using the laptop while out in the field working.  Please advise.  I looked under Device Manager and don't see a stylus option under 'Mice and Pointing Devices' for example so I don't even know where to look for the driver to try to update it. Thanks.

Hello, I'm Italian, I use the pen on hp x2 10, the battery lasts me very little, 1 or 2 weeks at most with little use, sometimes the pen stops writing and starts again after a few tries just after having unscrewed and screwed. on the pen to internal  is written model: PR77S on the box it said REV A00 while the code is CN-07DMHT-73826-598-00G1, you also have these codes? did you solve the problem? thank you, bye, Luke

Hello,
I have also had ongoing issues with my HP sylus.  I have a Spectre X2, the stylus has never works satisfactorily. I have tried to run all of the BIOS and touch screen firmware updates but they both failed to run. I have also replaced the battery on the stylus but it is still terrible to use.

I was hoping that the recent update to Windows 10 would make a difference but it hasn't.

The ability to use a stylus was the main reason I purchased the spectre x2 but I have been deeply disappointed with it and am now considering writing the cost of this spectre x2 off and getting a competitor device.

Please advise how I go about getting this resolved.

i'm planning to buy a windows tablet, but surface pro 3 is way too expensive than what i've planned to spend.
all the stylus makers provide their own note taking softwares/apps.
Ques. 1: do we have a stylus in the market which works perfectly with the OneNote and other apps, even if we're not using Surface Pro 3?
Ques. 2: Or will the N-trig stylus (made for surface pro 3) work with other tablets (e.g. Dell venue 8 pro or Lenovo Yoga2) as well?

Answer:Which stylus works with the OneNote, that is not running on Surface Pro 3?

Contact technical support of your laptop brand to know which active stylus would work.

I absolutely cannot get the stylus that came with my laptop to work. I've updated the drivers, so that's not it. I tried to check the battery using the ThinkPad Low Battery Notifier, but it didn't even ackowledge that there was a pen touching the screen. My finger works fine, so it's not the touchpad. I tried the fingernail trick to get the stylus connectors to touch, but nothing. I'm about ready to return this product and never buy Lenovo again, which is a shame because I otherwise like this little laptop. But I bought it FOR the stylus.

Hi am considering the yoga 900 but a bit bum that it doesnt support active stylus.  The tech at best buy however said that it can work with a regular dumb stylus for basic writing.  Can anyone confirm this?

Answer:Anyone using a dumb stylus with Yoga 900?

Yes, I can confirm this. Most stylus will work for it.

I want to take notes and do some freestyle drawing with my Yoga 2 11" laptop/tablet. I have the rubber round tip but it is not thin and accurate enough for my needs. Is there a stylus pen-style for the Yoga 2 11" similar to the Surface Pro? Thank you. I've read many of the previous posts but it wasn't quite what I was looking for.

Answer:Suggestion for a stylus for a Yoga 2 11"

Good day.

You definitely need a capacitive stylus to work with your Yoga.
While I've never tried one, personally, this one: http://www.adonit.net/jot/pro/ looks pretty interesting.
Not cheap, but might be worth researching.

Please post back if you decide to try it, or find more info.
Regards.

Hello everybody! I'm new to lenovo and this forum. Just bought a Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro 14", and I love it so far.I'm in med-school, and I was looking for a fine tip pen or stylus that works with the Y3P14 for note-taking and more graphic use (well not everything needs to be about medicine).I've tried one of those normal capacitive pens with onenote, and while palm recognition was automatic, the pen did a really bad job.. And no, it's not my bad hand writing  it barely drew a straight line. If you have any suggestion I'd love to hear them, I went through the entire web (well most of it), and checked most popular styli and pens out there, but no reference to my computer, windows tablets and so on... Thanks very much!Barkai

Hi,I need help buying a stylus pen for my Lenovo Yoga 2, 11'6. I would like to know which pen stylus works well with this touch screen, and that it has a thin point. Who has a Yoga 2, and uses a stylus pen, can you help me choose one? Is there any model of a stylus pen for this model?  Thanks

Is there a precision stylus compatible with the Yoga 2? Something maybe like the Digitizer pen for the Thinkpad maybe...

Answer:Precision stylus for Yoga 2

Capacitative screens can only have relatively thick styluses at this point, so pretty much no. You could get a block of conducting foam and find the smallest sized chunk that registers consistently, then find a capacitative stylus with a tip of a similar (slightly larger) size.

I just picked up a Yoga 700 a week ago and really like the system so far.  Are there any stylus recommendations for the Yoga 700?  I'd like to get one and I have no idea what will or wont work.  Do I just need one of the rubber nib ones?  Would something like a bluetooth stylus work? Thanks!

I am trying to find out what kind of stylus I can use with my Yoga 3 14" to draw with some degree of precision in tablet mode. I have looked into this a lot but I find the answers confusing and not precise, so I thought I'd ask if anyone knows.I am looking at different stylus pens, like the Bamboo from Wacom and the Adonit stylus...I know not all touchscreens are the same... I know about the whole capacitative screens and how the really precise drawing pens won't work with that... Ok, so what does my Yoga 3 14" have? I tried using my cheap $1 stylus from ebay on it and it doesn't work (it works with my android galaxy s6 however). So, any advice? Reccomendations?I am an artist and it would be amazing to be able to use a decent stylus with precise lines to draw directly onto my laptop, rather than having to buy a seperate tablet....

Answer:Stylus Drawing with the Yoga 3 14"?

I just purchased Yoga 3 14 as well and was curious if you have had any luck finding a stylus that works with the machine.

What other stylus is compatible other than the Pen Pro. I had the X220i years ago and it was almost big enough for my preference. Also my favorite part was that I could flip it and use the opposite end of the tip as an eraser automatically. Having side buttons is nice but inconvenient for erasing since I have to change my grip. I use it for college and work so Im always quickly taking notes.  Is there anything even remotely similar to what Im looking for? And Id choose the eraser feature over having a larger pen hands down

Hello there! My thinkpad P40 has Lenovo Pen Pro with no "tilt" recognition. Are there any styli with tilt on the market compatible with P40?

Answer:Thinkpad P40 - stylus with tilt?

Greetings!   I've managed to collect all the compatlble pens (Incuded Pen, Thinkpad Pen Pro, Bamboo Smart Pen) that I know of, and sadly, none appear to recognize tilt. Reports about the pen from CES seem to suggest that the feature isn't built into the pens yet.  Winbeta's review from CES.  Hopefully, the next iteration of the AES Wacom pen has all the things.

I'm hoping this might turn into a recommendation thread, as there just isn't much info about this out on the webs. This is mainly in regard to performance when highlighting, drawing, or dragging the stylus across the screen. My experience is, while the bulk stylus packs that are available on places like Amazon work great for most people's Apple and Android tablets, general consensus is that they are horrible on Windows tablets. I've tried several, even a Bamboo stylus, but they all skip or jump when you try to highlight or drag, making them useless. This is on a Surface RT, Dell Venue 8 Pro, and Winbook TW800.
Anyway, I've done tons of research, but can't seem to find any that work well but are at a decent price. Has anyone found a cheap stylus that works well for highlighting, etc?

Answer:What Passive Stylus Works Well with Cheap Windows Tablets?

Well, I did a quick search for the Winbook and I think it does not support Wacom.
The Dell Venue does support Wacom or at least Dell sells a Wacom like stylus for it. For that
device I recommend you buying the stylus specially designed for that tablet.
I know the Surface does not support Wacom. So, for the first and third tablet, any passive
stylus will do. Hate to say it..they are pretty much all the same and all work the same. And,
they are all pretty much lousy. This is why Wacom supported tablets are what people want
although very few tablets actually support it.
Not to mention is generally increased the selling price of the tablet. I just sold a 5 year old 12.1 inch tablet
with Windows 8.1 on it (that I installed) for $300.00 on Ebay because it supported Wacom

Hi everyone, Since I upgraded my x200t to Windows 8 Pro, installed the lastest Wacom drivers, I have a strange behavor with the stylus. The stylus drawing works perfectly within photoshop, even pressur is detected, but for Paint and OneNote ... its another story ... While I can draw those blue squars on the Desktop (press&move to make a selection) I can't draw a line neither in Paint, nor in OneNote, and not even the "Ink To Math" window. I have a hard time understanding why in the microsoft's softwares it does not work ... Do you have an idea? Did you face the same issue ? Thanks in advance, Raztou3D
