Non-active pen for the Yoga !5

Question: Non-active pen for the Yoga !5

First let me vent my frustration with Lenovo for promising an active pen for the Yoga 15 and not delivering. Over the years -and through several purchases- Lenovo has eroded my trust they will deliver on any promise. Lenovo pre-sale marketing is all BS, I'll believe a feature when I see it implimented in a shipping unit. I guess it's easy to grab consumer attention by over-promising and under-delivering. Back to the subject. Given that we will probably never see an active pen for the Yoga 15, I am looking for recommnedations experiences regarding non-active fine-tipped pens that work well with the Yoga 15. So far I am looking at Adonit (Jot Pro) and dotpen products. Has anyone had a positive experience with these products on the Yoga 15?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

So out of the box, my Yoga 920 was missing the batteries and tips for the Active Pen 2 but I got an empty pen.  So Lenovo ships me a new pen but this one is a Lenovo Active Pen although it does list 4096 levels of pressure.  What's the difference between the pens and is the original compatible with the Yoga 920?I have it still in the box... Thanks.

I've just purchased a Active Pen to use with my Yoga 520 however nothing happens when I try and use it. I've tried downloading the Active Pen for Windows 10 (64-bit) software and restarting my laptop but still nothing happens. Is there anything else I need to do to make the software compatible or to set up the pen? Thanks!

Hello OzpThanks for using the Lenovo forums. Not exactly sure about a specific driver, sorry.

It may help to update your Chipset driver, this is usually pretty useful to keep up to date.

Try to download the Chipset drivers for the unit from the support page.

Make sure to reboot after an update on the unit.

Hi Guys I bought a Thinkpad Yoga 15 on 24th June . and i got the laptop by 7/7/2015 . last week monday they launched Thinkpad Yoga 15 with Active Pen Support.  and when i was checking the price is chepaer comparing to the Normal One . so i am confused which one is better i am thinking to return mine and get the active pen yoga. any suggestion?

Answer:Thinkpad Yoga 15 + Active Pen

Well ... in France the publicity have been saing "support active pen" for a while without telling the pen was an option ... and without telling this option was not availble (not gessed, I've been told this by Lenovo).A while after, I've bought one with the stylus option now available .. Yes !!! ...  wait 1 month .... no news .... and when I asked why, I've only received an email saying my command was canceled! They have some issue with the stylus (this is what they told me)Look live Lenovo sell something they dont have. Now I have all the equipenent (SSD M.2, SSD 1To, 32Gb of RAM from IM, multiple power adaptor, two dock ... about 2000? of quipement (a lot because I have big needs and I travel a lot) ... but without the laptop itself. But Lenovo kindly promissed be 5% on my next buy on the website ;-) All that to say ... if you want the stylus on the Yoga 15 ... don't beleive about lenovo web site and their nice sells practice, wait for it to be available for a few month before bying it ....

Hello, I'd like to know if the Yoga 520 offers an active digitizer making the use of an active pen possible. Not a passive/capacitive one, but an ACTIVE one. I've recently bought a notebook which said it had support for active pens and ended up with a touchscreen instead which offers capacitive pen support only. I aim to use Staffpad with it so if I could be informed of it's compatibility with the app that'd be better.

I purchased a Yoga 720 less than 3 weeks ago, it came with an Active Pen 2 and I've been using it in classes as a notebook with onenote.I was solving something one hour ago and stopped writing for a second and when I came back the pen started stuttering for some reason, as if the pen disconnects and reconnects rapidly, I know it does because when I try to select it stops the selection and repositions the selection spot.Wacom Pen app says battery is full I don't know what to doAlso the hover is also stuttery and is sometimes recognized as clicks

Does anyone know if Lenovo is going to release the Thinkpad yoga 15 with an active pen or is this a dead dream at this point? My suppliers have no clue and even the touch only thinkpad yoga's are hard to get here in Canada.

Answer:Thinkpad Yoga 15 with active pen

I ordered my Yoga 15 with intel realsense camera from Amazon US, and got it shipped to me in Nigeria, you can do same. With respect to the availability of the active pens with yoga 15, only Lenovo can help with that answer.

Hello!I got a brand new YOGA 520, which have i7-8th gen, Nvidia Graphics and sadly only 128Gb SSD + 1Tb HDD.I tried to get info everywhere i could and did not find any solution. So I'm asking if I can upgrade SSD without getting rid of Warranty (have 3y on-site). For second part, have anyone tried Lenovo Active pen 2 with this laptop? Or any other active pen (Wacom, etc.) The pen included is quite small so i will lost it in no time . Thank you all in advance

So recently I bought the Lenovo Active Pen (GX80K32882) off of Amazon, and it's been working fine. I decided to switch from the included pen because it was larger and gave more of a natural feeling. However, today when I pulled out the built-in pen, it didn't work. I've tried restarting and updating drivers to no avail. I'm not sure if it's because the charging pins were somehow bent and it's now out of battery, or because of some other hardware/software issue. Has anyone else had this issue and found a fix? Thanks!

Hello. I am currentlly experiencing issues with Adobe Photoshop CS6 when using the Active pen that comes with the Yoga 14. When "Press and hold for right clicking" is disabled in Pen and Touch settings, any click-and-drag actions using the pen in Photoshop causes the cursor to stick. I recorded these to illustrate the problem: Using mouse (how it's supposed to work)Using pen (strangely enough, when I use screen recording, the pen's cursor doesn't appear to move, so I had to record with my phone to show the issue) If I use modifier keys (alt, shift, ctrl) while clicking with the pen in Photoshop, the same thing happens: the pen cursor seems to be stuck in place as I move the pen. These issues seem to happen exclusively with Photoshop - the pen behaves normally in other softwares. Also, I cannot enable "press and hold", because that will just lead to a different issue that has been known for years in Photoshop. I have tried different methods to fix this, including disabling Windows ink, and disabling press and hold is the only thing that works.

Dear Lenovo Community after hours of installing drivers and trying different configurations and calibrations of my pen I have concluded to write a post. My Problem is rather strange. The laptop I have came with an Active Pen. When I hover my pen across the screen, it detects the pen and I see the little mouse cursor under it. However, randomly, whenever I hover anywhere below 2/3rds of the screen, the cursor suddenly jumps upward 7cm and moves left and right on a streight horizontal according to how I move my pen on the bottom screen. When I remove the pen from the screen and return back to it, the problem vanishes, however occours soon after again. Since I cant use the laptop and flick my hand upward every 20 seconds to get rid of the problem temporarily, does anyone have any suggestions on what I could do? The product number of my laptop is 20DNS02H00. Thank you,Chris

Hello Lenovo Community! Note: I do realise that there have been many related threads but after hours of research I still feel a bit lost and confused... I?m about to purchase a new laptop and I decided to go for another ThinkPad. The Yoga series seems like a nice and portable alternative for my current laptop + Wacom tablet setting. What made picking a particular one difficult is the fact that I need to be sure it?s pen enabled (with pressure sensitivity). The 12?s seem to be a safe choice as they have built-in pen slots, however they are also a little bit too small for my artistic needs. My dream TPY is at least 14? and has dedicated graphics and I?ve actually seen them around. The problem is that they don?t have a pen included I don?t know how to check if they work with digitizers. If I understand correctly, digitizer support is an option for 14?/15? models, so: How to check if a particular TPY supports the digitizer? Is there any indication of it in the detailed model code?If it isn?t that easy to verify, could those of you who already have a 14?/15? share their model codes so we could list them for future generations of pen-obsessed TPY seekers?  Thank you in advance for any help (including closing this thread and directing me to a place where the answer is! )

Hi, quick question: I bought a Yoga 2 Pro in late 2014. It has a touchscreen and after upgrading to Windows 10 some time ago, I now noticed the Windows Ink workspace icon up as an option. Will it work with an (any) active pen or just (if at all) with one of these regular (capacitive) stylus pens? I have searched for quite some time now but couldn't find a conclusive answer anywhere. Thanks!

Hey Guys I'm rather confused about the pen support for the new Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 15. I've read quite a bit about it and find the information quite inconsistent. Some say it does support active pen some say it will in april and some say it doesn't. What I would like to know:A.) What kind of pen technology does the Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 15 support atm?B.) Are there any changes in sight? / When? / What changes?C.) Can I write on it while resting my hand on the screen aka has it palm rejection?D.) How good is it for note taking? Can it keep up with my writing speed? Links to videos where I can actually see it being used / tested would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 15 Active Pen

From what I know there isn't too much information out so far. But here's what I found out. First off, the current Thinkpad Yoga 14 and 15 don't support pen digitizers at all, and will not in the future.Secondly, the Toshiba Encore 2 Write apparently uses the same technology. See this thread. Here's what I know:- It's called Wacom "Active ES" as in Active Electro Static.- It's battery powered. Unlike Wacom's older technology, you need a battery in the pen.- Palm rejection is more of a driver thing and not the technology. So it works, basically.- People say it feels "different", not sure if that means better or worse.- Precision is apparently very good, perhaps even better than the older tech without battery.- Pen lag (speed) doesn't seem to be an issue. Might even be better than the older technology. Other than that I personally couldn't find any information about whatever will be built into the Thinkpad Yoga 14 and 15 Only that they call it "Active Pen" and that it will be out in April. Also that the displays will support something called "anypen" which basically means you can use any pen-shaped metal object to write on the display. But that isn't really of any interest to me because I want pressure sensitivity.

I've read that the 20cd0032us and 33us Thinkpad Yoga models are the only ones without an active digitizer.  However, this appears to be all that is for sale on Amazon and other places.  Any idea of where you can but a Thinkpad Yoga with an active digitizer??

Answer:Thinkpad Yoga w/ active digitizer

They are only available on Lenovo's website as far as I've seen. I tried looking other places like Amazon, too, but haven't seen the digitizer model. I ended up buying one directly.

Hi I bought a Yoga 900s yesterday and so far I like it. I bought the active pen and it arrived today. However there is no documentation on how to connect it. I've tried with Bluetooth, I clicked and held both buttons on the pen, and nothing works. I read on a different model that if the laptop says it has 10 point pen and touch that it would not support a pen. I can't belive that to be accurate. This is a $1300 device and the pen says it is compatible with this model. Anyone out there that can shed light on this for me?

Answer:Cannot connect active pen to Yoga 900s

I just discovered I was sold a 900 and was told and it was labeled as a 900s. Now I know why I can't connect this pen, it doesn't work with the 900. But I'm trying to decide if the i7 and 16GB of RAM is worth the lack of using a pen. I've tried a plan stylus with it and cannot use it either. I need something to use as a pen though. Very frustrating that Best Buy did this.

Pretty much just as the description says. Im not sure what the problem is. When I try to download the feeldriver from Wacom it says "a supported tablet was not found" or something like that. Answer:Thinkpad yoga 14 Flickering Screen and Active Pen

Hi

I have a TP Yoga 14, it is similar but it is different model (20DM008UUS).

I also have the Intel HD 5500 and NVidia 940M, also on 1920 x 1080 with Windows 10 and I have flickering on the screen.

Do you want to give it a try updating the drivers of the Intel HD 5500 and NVidia 940M?

Maybe you already know that you can download the driver of your model here, but I will like to also share my tips for updating the drivers.

1) Try first Windows Update and update all the drivers and Patches
2) Try Lenovo System Update to get any new/missing drivers.
3) Try to install Lenovo Settings and Lenovo Companion from the Windows App Store, Lenovo Companion also has a "update driver search"
4) Sometimes all that software does not recognize some updated / missing driver. Check Lenovo's Support Site and search for your specific model drivers.

Just picked up a new Thinkpad Yoga. Definitely thrilled by the specifications, it seems to be the perfect laptop for me combining dedicated graphics, 2 in 1 capability, and most importantly, a wacom pen. However, upon getting it home, I find the pen doesn't work whatsoever. Curious, I went back to Best Buy and tried the pen on the display model. That one doesn't work either.Do these have some sort of widespread issue with the digitizer pens not working? Is there any known fix for this?

Hi, can someone confirm that all Yoga 720 models work with a Lenovo Active Pen? The only model that's sold with a pen is $600 more expensive than the next most expensive model (with basically the same spec minus the pen). Given that a pen isn't anywhere near $600, it gives me concern that the rest of the models (without an included pen) won't work with a pen that could be purchased separately. Thanks.

Just bought a new Lenovo Yoga 920 and have started getting issues when using the stylus that came with the computer. It randomly becomes unresponsive to the touch screen; the button still opens windows ink workspace when clicked but when I touch the screen with the tip of the stylus it does nothing. I can use the touch screen just fine with my finger but it just doesn't seem to work with the pen. Assuming maybe the tip of the stylus needs replaced? Any one with any experience on this issue would be greatly appreciated! ** also it does come back on eventually, just very random when it does. Thanks!!

Hello, I just bought a Lenovo yoga 520 from a local retailer yesterday. It came with the Lenovo Active Pen. I tried to draw on Paint Tool SAI at night and I would just like to ask if it is normal that the tablet screen register my pinky (since it touches the screen first before the pen tip) before the actual pen? It is a bit distruptive when i am drawing because it will create a stroke by my pinky which I do not want. This morning when I tried to draw again, the pen to have some odd behavior. If I do a quick stroke/flick and lift my pen away from the screen, the stroke will not follow through and the screen is temporarily disabled and does not respond to mouse clicks or hand touches (as if I did not lift the pen up at all.) I have to tap the screen again with my pen and the stroke will connect to where I tapped. This issue does not happen when I wear a piece of cloth on my palm or if I draw the stroke slowly and life it up slowly. So I would just like to ask:1. If I buy a Bamboo styus (which I am aware is compatible with Yoga 520,) will I be able to draw faster strokes with smoother follow through?2. Is this a normal problem faced by fellow artists too?

Hello, I hope anyone can help me here. I did'nt found an answer so far for my problem. I bought the lenovo thinkpad yoga 14 two days ago. In the shop they had only the thinkpad yoga 12, which had a pen inside the yoga (right corner). They showed me this notebook. Later I ordered the thinkpad yoga 14 in the internet. There were a few versions, one was with a active pen. I thought this is the same like the yoga 12 with the pen in the right corner. But this is wrong. The pen is much bigger and you have a pen holder for these big pen. You can't put this in the right corner of the yoga 14. Ok that was'nt what I want, but ok. My problem now is that I don't know how this pen works. It doesn't work and I can't find a solution for that problem. Are there any drivers which I have to install? There is no description, only a short which describe how I have to put the battery inside the pen  Sorry for my bad English, I'm a German  best regards,Izzmir

Are you, like me, starting to get annoyed with the active pen not responding. Then when you go to the wacom driver settings you get the error message "The Tablet driver is not running". Forcing you to restart the machine or the service? This is a normal problem that pisses a lot of users of wacom products in general. And i found this happens alot, specially if you have several wacom products like i have a Cintiq connected to my X1 yoga.  Well surprisingly there is a really easy fix for this.  It's windows 10 stopping the service after it wakes up from sleep. To fix it just tell windows to try harder to keep it running. ? Run "services" and find the wacom services. The service you looking for on a X1 Yoga is Wacom ISD service or/and the Wacom Professional Service if you have an additional wacom device like the Cintiq connected.Right click the service and go to properties.Go to the tab recovery and set the optional fail response on first and second failure to "restart the service".there is also someone reporting that they have to set their startup type to manual. But for me it works fine in automatic. Here is a video from ma'boy MichaelLawLtd that explains how, i give him all credit for this solution:  I set it to restart on second and third attempt and have never had an issue since.

Answer:X1 Yoga and Wacom active pen drivers not running. ...

Got the Lenovo Yoga 920 Monday. It's sweet. So much better than the 910, I can type again. All the issues of the 910 gone for good! Question.  It came with the Active pen. But no battery or extra tips.  Did I miss something out of the box?  I can't believe at this price point, they wouldn't ship the battery with the pen.  It needs a AAAA battery, not something you have sitting around the house. thanks. I'm quite shocked and am betting it was an error but trying to find out if they were supposed to be included or not?  Can't find any documentation. It's almost like the pen is just something they say is included, little details.

Hi forum, I have purchased the new Yoga 900 BE (business edition) which supposedly adds TPM and Lenovo Active Pen support. I had that confirmed 4 times by 4 different Lenovo online sales support people before placing the order. Now I have the Yoga, and the active pen - and it does not work. No information on drivers, or firmware updates is available anywhere. What should I do to make the pen work? thx in advance Peter

Hello folks, so far I really like the Yoga 720 but I have this really strange problem when I'm drawing on the screen. Every time I draw slowly (and sometimes even when I draw quickly) my lines become jittery and not in the wobbly sense. More in the "leaving-the-road" kind of way. Here is a video proof of my issue: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EyrS63BTJ6AI really want to use this tablet for drawing but this annoys the hell out of me. Is this normal? Is it a driver problem?I already uninstalled and reinstalled the Wacom Pen Driver and I checked the box "Ignore touch input when I'm using pen" in the Windows Ink menu.I'm having the 1080p HD Model of the Yoga 720 15 Inch with the 256 gb SSD. The pen I'm using is the active Pen 2 which feels really nice with the rubber tip. I used all kinds of applications like Photoshop, Sketchbook Pro, Windows Ink sketch, Sketchable and so on. I have the same problem in all of them. Can anyone please help me? I really like this tablet. Greetings

Answer:Strange lines with Lenovo Yoga 720 15 Inch and Active Pen 2

Hello WokouwokouThanks for using the Lenovo forums. You may want to try to update the Video, Chipset, and the Active Pen driver for the unit from the support page.

Make sure to reboot after an update on the unit.
Hope this helps, let us know how you get on.==================================================================================Did someone help you today? Thank them with a Kudo! If you find a post helpful and it answers your question, please mark it as an "Accepted Solution"!

Hi everyone.I have just bought Lenovo Yoga 520 and I was enjoying drawing on screen with active pen. But then I realized that during my research before buying the device I never saw any kind of protection like gorilla glass series on the screen. I wonder if active pen scratches eventually the screen? If so the maybe I should buy some screen protector before too late.My device is Lenovo Yoga 520-14IKB 81C8 i5-8250U 4G 256G SSDThanks

I've had my yoga for 3 days now and have noticed that the Touchpad does not disable when in tablet mode. There must be some remedy to this as it makes tablet mode fairly useless since holding the tablet moves the mouse when you inevitably touch the Touchpad. This appears to happen with the 11s model as well (http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Idea-Windows-based-Tablets-and/Yoga-11s-Touchpad-in-Tablet-Mode/m-p/1168... and the driver mentioned as a fix does not resolve my issue.

Answer:Thinkpad Yoga S1 - Touchpad active in tablet mode

The moderator comment is misplaced - this is the only message I've left on this forum. You've moderated my comment or deleted a duplicate but have not provided any response to my actual problem. As I type this, I'm actually becoming pretty frustrated by the fact you'd take time to school me in the ways of forum ettiquette and not provide any actual customer service. At more than $1,200, this Thinkpad Yoga's inconsistent auto-screen rotation, ever-changing touch screen calibration settings, incredibly hot case temperature while installing Photoshop and The Banner Saga, and of course, the Touchpad remaining active in tablet mode is resulting in my returning this computer. I love the weight and the keyboard, but these pros don't outweigh the cons (especially when added to Windows 8.1's inability to properly scale menus for an FHD 12.5 screen). I'll try again on Lenovo's next edition of this line.

I recently got a Yoga 2 Pro. The screen goes blank after just a few minutes of keyboard or mouse inactivity, but the monitor stays active and lit up. I have tweaked all of the power settings, including telling it to never turn off the monitor when plugged in. I do work where I have to monitor things and need to be able to just glance up and get current information without touching the computer. It immediately comes back on if you touch a key or the mouse, but it's still aggravating to have to constantly remember to do something to keep the picture displayed. What am I missing? I've gone into the advanced power management and tweaked things but nothing seems to help. This does not sound like the "black screen" issue many people have had since it comes immediately back on. Thanks for any help. This is driving me nuts.

Answer:Yoga 2 Pro picture turns off after a couple of minutes, screen stays active

To clarify, only the picture goes away...the screen turns black but still dimly backlit. The screen never completely shuts down, just what is on the display goes away.I just gave myself a thought. Maybe it's a blank-screen screen saver kicking on. Hadn't thought of that.

Hi,
I've been fighting with some sort of redirect virus. Checked my computer with Malwarebates in Safe MOde, Normal Mode, etc. It did find some viruses but removed them and nothing is present anymore. I also checked my comp with BitDefender online scanner, SuperAntiSpyware, HijackTHis. They don't find any viruses. Computer works fast, although aftre all this checking and removal I found that sometimes when I click two windows too fast it locks and I have to reboot it by reset button.
Now the annoying part is that when I do Google search it still redirects me to various random sites. I also found that when I disable active scripting it does not do that, but then I cannot view YOuTube movies, etc.
Is ther a way to analyze and search for scripts that cause this. I assume it's just some stupid script that gets activated when I'm on line, because none of the AV programs I use finds any viruses anymore.
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks

Answer:Google redirect? No viruses found but active when active scripting enabled

Could you please post the log files from all the programs you ran? (MBAM and SUPERantispyware) Do NOT post the Hijackthis log.

Hi everybody,

I am new here and actually after I checked different contributions, I liked the place, it's really helpful, and I hope to be a permanent member. Well, I am new to VBA, and I just got a macro that runs on active open sheet, then I need to run the same macro, but this time on more than a file/ sheet (actually it's a big number, like 1000+), closed and already saved in a folder. I would pretty appreciate if anyone helps me to add the necessary code ( which will direct the macro to : focus on a specific folder in a specific location (e.g. E:\myfolder) , then run on every excel file in that folder, and to save every file before close , doing that until the last file in that folder .. that's it .. Any help?

Many thanks

Hi, after using Google and searching through forums I'm still stuck with the following problem. For a installation at the Deutsches Museum in Munich I need the Yoga to boot itself at a defined date/time. Shutting down is not the problem, but automatic boot is. Normally there are two ways how to do this- Wake on LAN- Wake on RTC- Wake on Power (if a PC gets connected to a power source it will start automatically) I'm missing those options in the BIOS settings. But maybe I've overread something. Maybe I have to look somewhere else. The only source I found (not yet tested) was https://tinkertry.com/wol-over-usb3 where I have to built my own solution. Anyway, is there any chance to boot the the Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro or Yoga 3 Pro at a specific date/time? Best wishes

Answer:Yoga 2 Pro/Yoga 3 Pro - Missing BIOS function to automatically boot the Yoga at specific time

I have been spending hours to find a way to apply WOL to a yoga 3 pro. I could not believe that it is simply not there. Is that to protect the user or a mistake? Is there an update I missed somewhere, or is a correction  being prepared? Thanks

Q: Viruses have been detected in some of the 'Panda Antivirus' files on my computer (Win95:Matyas and Win32:Kuang2 in PAV.SIG mainly). Why is this?

A: This is a known problem. Lets try to explain whats going on:

Every virus can be identified, because it contains some unique signatures. Antiviral programs have their own database of that signatures. We call this database the "virus definition file".
When an antiviral program scans a file for viruses, it compares all the signatures (of all viruses) in the database with the signatures in that file. If the signatures match (they are the same), the file is marked as infected. For an antivirus program, it is important to hide this database of signatures somehow - e.g. by encrypting it. Panda Antivirus does not encrypt its virus database - the signatures inside are clearly "visible" to other antiviral programs, so they detect this file as infected (but there is actually no virus inside - only the signatures are the same).

We cant do anything about that, only recommend not to use two or more antiviral programs at the same time, or put those files to the list of exclusions, so they will not be scanned anymore.

Here is the list of Panda Antivirus files that avast! detects as infected:

IMSCAN.DLL
PAVDLL.DLL

I had an external HDD put in as an external HDD, but for some reason it is marked as active (when connected with my normal HDDs windows will not boot), can I make it inactive WITHOUT loosing all the data (It has only my movie collection ripped from DVD on it) nothing else. I only found out the other day when I replaced my PSU with a new one, and windows would not boot until I disconnected it. (after having it connected without a problem for about 2 years).

Answer:Make an Active drive non-active

In a standard Windows PC, the active partition would be C, or System Reserved if you have that partition. Do you have both of those partitions and is either of them marked "active"?

The active flag has nothing to do with data.

A screen shot of Windows Disk Management would help.

Hi

We have three PCs connected on a network. One is dual boot with Win7 and Win10 (very recently sorted with help from Gregrocker) whilst the other two are both Win7 only with no System Reserved partition. What I want to do is to have both latter PCs with a System Reserved partition and remove the boot files from the OS partition. I know most people seem to want to go the other way but I believe there may be advantages when the time comes to remove Win7 and use Win10 only.

I've been going through the motions of creating a System Reserved partition of size around 100MB (without actually doing it - I can't use Bitlocker and I use TrueImage to backup/restore). However, it goes a bit further than just creating the partition as I have to get the boot files into it. I believe I have to mark the partition as active which would mean the OS partition would become inactive. I would then have to do three repair installs to get the boot files into the System Reserved partition.

I would appreciate it if someone would confirm this or put me right where my thinking is in error. I look forward to hearing from someone on this.

Thanks
Tracey

I'd be curious to know what you think the advantages to this would be "when the time comes to remove Win7 and use Win10 only".

You appear to be on the right track if you want to go through with it, although I can't recall anyone else who wanted to do this. You might investigate the EasyBCD tutorial on this site which is used to copy boot files---typically in the other direction as you mention. I'm not positive, but I'd assume it could be used to copy them in the direction you prefer.

I installed Windows 8.1 pro due to the need of domain, I also downloaded and installed all Lenovo software as well as drivers. I am also using Classic Shell to get a "normal" start menu. Issue 1: Keyboard disables when not in laptop mode, touchpad is allways enabled. How do I disable touchpad in tent, stand tablet mode? Issue 2: Soft keyboard shows up in Microsoft software, however it does not show up when typing in other software, Firefox, Lightroom etc. Is there a way to make this work? Issue 3: In full resolution Windows scale bad, as several computers now delivers with this high resolution and 4K monitors will be more common, is there a fix from Microsoft to get normal scaling? Ie. menues are very small making it hard to hit the correct button on touchscreen.

Answer:Yoga 2 Pro: deactivating pad in yoga modes, soft keyboard in non-microsoft sw, scaling Windows?

I, too, have the soft keyboard issue. If I'm already editing some text and switch modes, the keyboard shows. If I move to tent/tablet mode and try to edit - no keyboard!!! The is an On-Screen Keyboard app but it fills the entire screen. Useless. Surely there is an answer to this problem?

Hi,

When I connect Thinkpad Yoga (model 20CD00B1US) to the onelink dock, the stylus stops working.

In order to enable the stylus and Wacom driver following 2 options/ workarounds:
1)  Manually stop and restart the Wacom ISD Service
2) or reboot the machine while the Onelink dock is attached.

I'm using the latest 7.2.0-4 Wacom driver version, all latest lenovo software installed installed on the machine.

Both above mentioned workarounds are ugly, does anybody have a better suggestion to fix this issue?

The Yoga 3 Pro severely pixelates when using google+ online photo editer Tune Image option on photo editing.  You cannot see the photo you are supposed to be tuning.  This problem does NOT occur with the Yoga 2 Pro where when you tune the image it does not pixelate and you can see what you are doing. I assume this is a setting problem with the Yoga 3.  Any feedback on how to adjust the settings to get that not to pixelate appreciated.

I am a very frustrated and angry customer at the moment as i keep running into Road Block and unacceptable answers.  This issue is enough to cause me to never buy another Lenovo laptop or any laptop at Best Buy!I bought my computer in July and in September i noticed a key had popped off-  the "< ," key next to the M key.  I have used the key board only when i was setting up-  now at my office and at customers i set it in downward dog mode ;-) and use a blue tooth key board.    So it is not from use that it broke.   I took the laptop into BEST BUY and was told that the key was missing a metal part on the back so they could not fix it onsite-  i would have to send it in and be without my laptop for a week to 10 days - unacceptable -  this was a month or more ago. I searched on the LENOVO website and could not find a way to purchase a single or the entire set of Keys!  I am self employed as a software consultant.   My life is pretty busy and i finally decided today to bite the bullet and ask for a call from Lenovo support.  Again i am told the only way to fix this is to send my laptop in for a repair.  I asked to just be able to buy a KEY - i am told that well they do not sell individual keys - they would replace the entire keyboard!  So sell me the keyboard and or send me one an i will take into best buy to have them replace it while i wait.  They cannot do that.   I live... On Friday I bought the 11.6'' Yoga 700 from Best Buy open box.  I think I got a great deal for $300. It has the Skylake Core m3, 128GB SSD, but only 4GB of RAM.   It was basically $100 more than some of the other 11.6 offerings with an Atom CPU and the slower eMMC hard drive.   I really wanted the new Macbook but for less than a third of the cost I'll take it. I may replace the 128GB SSD for a 256GB or a 512GB down the road.  The RAM is stuck at 4GB with no upgrades, correct? It has some abuse on the outer soft touch shell and a small crack by one of the screw holes on the back cover.I'd like to find out if I can order the orange front/back covers for it.  It's silver which isn't too bad and it's only cosmetic concerns.  I think that orange is sharp.  If I can't order them maybe I'll just cover it with stickers or try out some of that PlastiDip paint.

Lenovo's manual is very thorough.  I was able to answer my own question.  It's just a matter of finding out how much the parts cost.  Might as well order a second charger while I'm at it with the charger being a proprietary piece.  Apple got it right moving the Macbook charger a to Type C connection. FRU: LCD Cover C Yoga 3-1170 OrangeFRU no: 5CB0H15156 FRU: Lower Case C YogaFRU no: 5CB0H15175FRU: Chicony ADL40WCCP/N: 36200581

Hello All, I have an issue with my YOGA 700 laptop when logged in multiple accounts simultaneously. Whenever an account is left logged on and the user is switched as opposed to logging off, the cpu usage ramps up very high with several RUNDLL32 processes being the culprit. I have checked the RUNDLL32 processes with Process Explorer and the command line are as follows:C:\Windows\system32\rundll32.exe C:\ProgramData\LenovoTransition\Server\x64\EnableAutoRotation.dll,RunCustomMonitor The directory is as follows: C:\ProgramData\LenovoTransition\Server\x64\ The only solution I have found is restarting the laptop. The problems comes back when again more than one user is logged in. Also, the rundll32 processes only run high cpu on one account at a time and there doesn't seem to be a preference for a specific account, all of them are plagued one at a time with the problem. Disabling the Yoga Mode Control service is a fix but that breaks the mode control which is essential in this laptop. I have tried installing all the available software on the Software page foor the YOGA 700. The rundll32 processes drain the battery very fast and I can't always log off other users when they have apps open!  I have posted a screenshot of process explorer showing 2 rundll32.exe processes using 25% cpu usage each. However, sometimes up to 4 rundll32.exe processes open up and they use combined 100% cpu usage, which makes the laptop run very hot and slow. In t... Read more

Even when the system is booting the afterimages are there and persistent, and continue to build on top of each other. I have already rolled back and updated the graphics card, updated the BIOs, installed the firmware update to fix ghost touches etc. but the afterimages of chrome and the taskbar and explorer windows remain, only leaving the computer off for several hours solves but I don't believe that to be a pragmatic solution. If anyone else has had this issue or has fixed it please comment!

I recently did a Windows 10 update to my Lenovo Yoge Ideapad  11 S on July 16th and now my touch screen does not work. When I check the drivers for my monitor and touch screen I noticed the driver was missing. I cannot get Lenovo or Microsoft to fix this. What else can I do to get that driver back ?

Answer:Lenovo Yoga Idea Pad Yoga 11 S touch screen issue

Hello Dws520Thanks for using the Lenovo forums. Was this the creators update?
If so, have a look on the following post, this should show if your device has been tested with the update yet:
https://support.lenovo.com/gb/en/solutions/ht503655

From what I can see, your unit does not seems to have made the list, which leads me to believe that this will be the cause of the issue, I would recommend that you revert back to the previous version of Windows, and observe if the fault still occurs or not.

Hope this helps, let us know how you get on.==================================================================================Did someone help you today? Thank them with a Kudo! If you find a post helpful and it answers your question, please mark it as an "Accepted Solution"!

Hello. I've recently purchased BOTH a Yoga 2 11" and the similar Yoga 11s. First I got the newer Yoga 2 11 with Pentium quadcore and then I was tempted to check out a refurbished 11S because I understood it had some great upgraded features and I could get it for just $100 more as a refurb. I immediately thought the 11S was superior in most respects. The case is solid, the finish amazing. It has full HDMI and even the SD slot is fully recessed (among many other details). I was stoked that it might have better performance as well. The 11s has the 4210Y I5 processor, and a 128GB SSD. The Yoga 2 11 has a Bay Trail Pentium processor and a 500 GB HD. Both have 4 GB RAM. The 11s is running Windows 8 (I resisted upgrading immediately to run some tests and check it out right away). The Yoga 2 11 came with Windows 8.1. In testing with Geekbench 3 for 64 bit windows I've found that the 11s tested almost exactly the same. This is disappointing although neither is slow at around 3300 points. I understood the 11s might reach into the mid 4000s or 5000 range. Is this only true of 11s Yogas with higher specs? Is there something potentially wrong here? I love the 11s color scheme, build, finish, full size hdmi, and the great keyboard - so I'm stoked on probably keeping it and returning the Yoga 2 11. But with a tiny 128 GB SSD (reads only about 60GB free by the way) and some possible lacklustre CPU performance from the i5 I'm having some doubts coming on. Thanks ... Read more

Answer:Comparing Yoga 11s and Yoga 2 11 - Performance, Features, Build - Please Advise

Where did you buy your 11S? Here in the US, the only place it is available with the Haswell CPU is Best Buy. Anyway, I have a Yoga 11s Haswell and I have no interest in the Yoga 2 11 because of the lack of SSD and the smaller battery. I don't understand why Lenovo would design a Baytrail Unit and throw away the main Baytrail advantage of lower power consumption by putting in a smaller capacity battery. I will be keeping my 11s Haswell. Jim

Hello!I am trying to find out if DisplayPort is supported on the following two models: - Yoga 710-14IKB (80V4003LMX)- Yoga 900S-12ISK (80ML000RMX) I need to drive UHD TVs (4K at 60fps) and various high resolution displays using DisplayPort (HDMI 1.4 only supports 4K at low refresh rates).  It seems to be difficult find out looking through the documentation provided by Lenovo. I have come across some info though: Yoga 710-14IKB:The documentation on  http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/yoga/700-series/yoga-710-14/#80V4000GUS under "Ports" states that: "Micro HDMI?""DisplayPort? (combo with HDMI?)" This indeed seems to indicate that DisplayPort is supported, but I cannot find any info on how this works. - Is DisplayPort supported by the Yoga 710?- If so, what kind of adapter is needed, and where can this be found? Yoga 900S-12ISK:This machine has an USB-C "USB 3.0 port with Video-out". I have found a Lenovo USB-C to HDMI Adaptor-NA (GX90K37871):    https://www.cnet.com/products/lenovo-usb-c-to-hdmi-adapter-external-video-adapter/specs/but so far I have not seen any USB-C to DisplayPort adapter from Lenovo. When an USB-C port has video capabilities, it is usually DisplayPort available (I have seen reviews of Yoga 900S that this actually is the case for the Yoga 900S. - Is DisplayPort supported by the Yoga 900s?- If so, what kind of adapter is needed, and where can this be found?&n... My brand new Yoga 720 is seriously bent (one corner is up by 3 mms). I have sent back immediately to offical Lenovo service. They sent it back with a report that it is fully operable. Since then, I have a wedge in my notebook case and all I have to do is put it under my notebook if I use it. Now I know which brand not to buy next time.

Hi Everyone,        I've uninstalled "Yoga Picks" from the control panel without knowing that they were responsible for the notifications that display when I change between different Yoga modes. Is there anyway to download it back? I tried downloading the one in the app store and that didn't bring back the notification. I think I also need the desktop version. I tried looking for the download at the "Lenovo Drivers and Software" page (http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS038317) but it doesn't list it there. Any help will be appreciated, thanks.

Ok, the website has my mind blown. I really don't understand some of the differences between models. There is almost $1K difference between somewhat similar configs of the Yoga 900 and the X1 Carbon Yoga. Where is that difference? Looking at top end of both. 16GB/512 SSD/etc. What is the major difference between those lines of product? Also, the Compare feature just does not seem to work on any browser. Have tried many different machines. Just shows half a CO at the top right, and a black bar and nothing happens. Strange. Is the only difference between the Platinum and the Clementine Orange Edition of the 900, that the OS is Windows 10 Pro vs Home? There is a $30 dollar differerence between those OS's on competitive sites, so I'm just wondering if that is it for almost $150 difference? Or does the Platinum have a different case construction? Thanks!

Hey guys, I'm a PreMed student who's life revolves around his laptop. I'm always on social media, watching some show, listening to music, doing an essay, taking notes, updating some website, or emailing some person on campus. Of course, my old laptop broke. It was a Dell Inspiron. Now, I have a campus job and have been saving money(so money is not factor necessarily). After researching my options, I've narrowed my choices down to the three previously listed laptops. I just want to know which do you guys suggest and why?

Answer:Surface Book vs Lenovo Yoga 900 vs ThinkPad X1 Yoga

By looking at your requirement, you prefer on-the-go PC that lets you do all that on a decent budget, SP4 is better than SB(if you want lightweight device and decent battery life), Lenovo's are pretty good too. X1 w/o OLED seems to be a better buy in terms of ultraportability and battery life. You could wait for others to chime in.

My daughters Yoga 11S has thin horizontal line. She is in college.Should I panic?  Do I need to worry about full "black screen" crash?Missed warranty by 2 months. Disappointed anyone have ideas or suggestions?

Answer:Thin horizontal line on Yoga Ideapad Yoga llS

hi kbrunk,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums and sorry to hear about your trouble.

Horizontal lines are commonly caused by an imminent failure on the LCD (either the LCD panel or the LCD cable) or the GPU. To identify which component is failing, the unit must be connected to an external display. If the display is fine then the culprit is the LCD cable, otherwise, it's the GPU (which is integrated to the CPU (CPU is soldered to the motherboard)).

In the event that the problem is with the LCD cable, you can opt to:
1. Contact lenovo for service
2. Have the machine serviced at a professional computer repair center (if they don't have the parts for the repair, you can purchase it online (like this item).

If it's not convenient to have the unit serviced at the moment (ie. need it for an upcomming exam, thesis, etc.), the computer can still be used if the horizontal line is still bearable but I recommend you get it serviced ASAP.

Regards

Hi, the yoga 500 wireless card  is kinda low quality in terms of AC speed. I've seen that the yoga 900 is using a AC-8260 card with superior speed, 433 vs 867 mbps.Would it work the exchange?

After a clean install of Win 10 Home, I tried to reinstall the Yoga Mode Control driver from here: http://support.lenovo.com/ca/en/products/Laptops-and-netbooks/Yoga-Series/yoga-900-13isk2/80UE/005KC... The install ends without error, but does not confirm success either. The app does not appear to install.  This same thing happens with Lenovo Utility.
