TP Yoga numerous issues with screen and digitizer

Question: TP Yoga numerous issues with screen and digitizer

Hello Summary:I bought a 20CD0001IV about two months ago (Demopool). I need it for work and drawing, but so far I have numerous issues. And right now I'm kinda lost: What should I do? Send a support question to lenovo/IBM EC? Contact my retailer? Are these common problems? I'm also not sure about my warranty. The Lenovo Solution Center says, I still have warranty. The different parts of the website say different things. I'll assume worst case: My warranty is likely expired. I tried:Fresh Installation Windows 8.1, newest drivers, newest Wacom drivers. Tried different settings. Calibration, Pressure Curves, all the stuff. Have 3 different Pens. Searched google, searches this forum... Problems:Massive Ghosting, I know, there is a solution on the forum. It says to replace the old screen with a newer model, but is this possible if the warranty is expired?Calibration is a mess! The digitizer point wobbles under the pen, this is most obvious near the screen border, where straight lines turn into curves. But it's also an issue in the middle of the screen. In some places the cursor is 2mm top left of the actual pen tip, in other places it's bottom right UNDER the pen. I tried all kinds of calibration already... I know about a "dead spot" issue, but this was fixed with a firmware update and my issue is all over the place, not just one spot. The screen is not very solid. Even medium pressure with the pen leads to dark and light display glitches near the tip. Pen pressure "clipping". The 100%-Pressure is reached waaaay too quickly when I actually press with medium force. This leads to a very screwed pressure curve, where drawing lighlty or drawing medium is a lot harder, because there is not much scope. Basically, I draw with 100% Pressure 90% of the time. 100% should only be reached when I press intentionally hard.... I tried this with different pens, it's not an issue of the pen. (This is also not the first wacom device I use, so I can compare... I'm not just heavy handed...). The wacom settings themselves are not of real use, they only influence to curve from 0 to 100, but can't move the 100%-Point itself (maybe someone has a better understanding of the wacom settings and knows how to do it)Edit: ...The ThinkPad Logo just came off, too o_OTo be honest, this is terrible quality for a lot of money. I could live with one or two issues, but this is almost unusable. I wonder if those are common problems and all Yogas have a screen like this. I had a Samsung Slate before and the screen was like solid glass and did not dent at all and I never had so many problems at once. I don't expect solutions for those problems. But I hope that someone can point me into the right direction like "Yeah, this is a known hardware thing, read this...". If someone knows a good tool to troubleshoot/analyse Wacom Input let me know (I only tried the Pressure Curve Tool). Is there any hope at all if my warranty is really expired?

Preferred Solution: TP Yoga numerous issues with screen and digitizer

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: TP Yoga numerous issues with screen and digitizer

I did some more testing with the maximum pressure issue. And it might be related to the pressure level of pens. As far as I know the Yoga supports 1024 levels. I have a new Wacom PL-900 and it has only 512, and the pressure problem is strongest. It is the same with the original Yoga pen, I'd say - even though this should have 1024 levels? But with an old Samsung Series 7 pen I need to press harder to reach 100% pressure - although it is still not really "hard". I'm not entirely sure how many pressure levels the Samsung Slate pen has, thought it was 510, but have seen some reviews mentioning 1024...Anyway, I posted this issue in the wacom forums.

I have a cracked screen on Yoga 2 13  and i am thinking to replace it. Since warranty is not working I contacted the service centre and they offered the replacment for the price of new laptop. So I said thanks either I will use as it is or find cheaper.  So please help me find the cheaper one which the most importantly fits to my one. I bought it in China (but not there anymore) and as I see the whole screen no. is 73048979. Also it issaid on paper  "13,3 FHD LED TS". I find part no. like B133HAT02.0   or LP133WF2 SP A1. But not the previous one. Can you help with finding the right one. It is frustrating a bit since I am not tech man. I am thinking sending back from here: http://www.365laptoprepair.com/Product/Lenovo-Yoga-2-13-Screen-Only or from ebay where I can find cheaper Chinese one. Is the screen from the link fitting my model? anyone knows?

Did the earlier models of the thinkpad yogas sold on lenovo.com all come with the wacom digitizers? I've read that all models of the thinkpad yoga sold on lenovo.com came with the wacom digitizer. I ordered a thinkpad yoga off lenovo.com with the 1366x768 screen on Feb 23 and I haven't received it yet. I could've swore that when I chose the screen resolution their was none that specified it came with the pen and wacom digitizer, but now I'm second guessing myself. Now I see that it only comes with the 1920x1080 FHD screen and it that option specifies it has the pen and wacom digitizer. So I'm just wondering if the earlier models from lenovo.com came with the wacom digitizer and they just recently switched it to only available on the 1920x1080. The part # for my computer is listed as 20CDCT01WW.

I opened my Y2Pro only to find my screen cracked on the left hand side. Other than no touch screen it works fine. From what I understand it's only the digitizer that is cracked. I found a replacement Lenovo digitizer but can't find instructions on how to fix it. Laptop repair 365 has a video on replacing the whole screen. I'm now seeing posts saying the digitizer can't be separated from the lcd...Any help would be appreciated.

Hello all, apologies if this is a duplicate issue, but my searches did not turn anything up. I just received my new TPY a couple of days ago and have been happily installing software. Today was the first time I really tried using my digitizer pen, as I finally had time to open Photoshop and Illustrator. In doing so, however, I discovered pen calibration is completely messed up for the top edge of the screen. I tested it outside of the Adobe programs and the same problems occur there. I have already gone in and tried recalibrating my pen more than once using the calibration tools in the Control Panel. Is this a known issue that I just need a driver update for or is this a hardware issue? Any help is appreciated. Thanks,Erika

Is it possible to put a screen with the digitizer built in and install it in a yoga that did not originally come with a digitizer? I've got a 20CD-0032US  and was hoping a screen swap would be able to add the capability. Thanks

Just to be clear, this is the laptop that I have. I need a pen for it. Any pen at all. Does one exist? Every single pen I've found, people say it doesn't work with this specific laptop. I have friends with lenovo laptops and I've tried their pens on mine and it doesn't work. My finger works fine, but I can't take notes in class like that. I have a pen that works on my iPad, but I don't really like it. I tried it on the Yoga, and it did work, but it was downright terrible. It only picked up about half the time. Lenovo has a thinkpad yoga pen on their website, but I'm quite positive that won't work with this model. So is there anywhere I can a suitable pen? Thanks.

Answer:Yoga 3 14 Digitizer Pen

The yoga 3 14 does NOT have a digitizer layer under the LCD panel. Which means NO digitizer pen will ever work with it. Trust me, im typing from my yoga 3 14 now. The 14" Thinkpad yoga does however suppport pen input. Your only option for a pen is one of those capacative pens with a rubber tip.

Question: Yoga 910 Digitizer

I bought a Yoga 910, as I found out, it doesn't support active pens.  I see on a few sites they sell the display assembly.  https://www.amazon.com/910-14IKB-910-14ISK-Digitizer-Display-Assembly/dp/B071JV7R17 I wanted to know are these screens legit?  It was marketed without active support, but do they sell the screens with the digitizers in them seperately now?

Answer:Yoga 910 Digitizer

That just looks like a replacement screen for the 910, no different to the one that comes with the laptop - it doesn't have a pen digitizer.

Hello, my Lenovo yoga 13 display is broken (just digitizer, not the whole display, LCD and everything other inside is ok) and I'm looking for new. On ebay and other public stores, I found only whole display or lot of digitizers for yoga 11 but not for 13. Is there another way how to get new digitizer without buying the whole display? On repair service, they want 11 000 CZK (about 650$) for replacement but they want to replace the whole display, which is not necessary in my case. Thanks to all for reply

Answer:Digitizer for Yoga 13

Good luck on your search! I broke my screen a little while ago on my yoga 13, and it was $300 usd for a new screen, but now I'm getting weird errors with it. Best of luck, please follow up if you find a solution since it's helpful for others!

Hey, does anybody know which pens are compatible with the Yoga 460?For me the pen tip feels a bit too hard on the display. I've had the Note 10.1 2014 with a better Pen and bought a Lenovo stylus. But they were passive digitizers...

Answer:ThinkPad Yoga 260 & 460 Digitizer

Hi, welcome to the forums.

I can only talk from my experience.  I have ThinkPad Pen Pro 4X80H34887 on my Thinkpad Yoga 14 ( 20DM008UUS ).
http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/itemdetails/4X80H34887/460/41E9A3C3FB5A45A9AC47C56812E4188C

For what I know (I may be wrong) the Pen Pro uses Wacom technology, it has a battery inside. I found it very nice with a nice size... but it depends on personal taste.

Can you post the full model number of the computer you want to check it will work with the pen?
I know that the Thinkpad Pen Pro web page may not say much. So, what I saw it was recomended on this forum was:
1) Check your computer model against the PSRef Books: http://psref.lenovo.com/
See if your model is listed with "Active Pen" support.

2) There is more information about the Thinkpad Pen Pro here: https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/acc100178

There is also the Thinkpad Yoga Pen , but I don't have experience with that one, some amazon review says it does not have batteries and it focus for replacement for Thinkpad Yoga that came with pen... but I don't know.

Regards.

I've seen several threads about this issue, but none that address my specific concern.

I have a ThinkPad Yoga 14. It did not come with a digitizer pen included. However, I suspect that the screen does in fact have a Wacom digitizer layer. My rationale is this:

My computer came pre-installed with the Wacom Pen Calibration Software
Device Manager reports the following HID devices:-- HID-compliant digitizer-- HID-compliant pen-- Wacom Device
When I run the Wacom Hardware Check (available here), it reports "You have hardware compatible with the Wacom FEEL driver."
All of the 20DM008 models listed at http://psref.lenovo.com/Product/179 support the active pen (I cannot find the 20DM008U++ model there for some reason)

However, the computer will not recognize the ThinkPad digitizer pen I purchased.

So, I suppose I have three questions:

Am I just misinterpreting what I am seeing in the Device Manager?
Is it possible that Lenovo installs the Wacom screen on all it's tablets, but disables them somehow on models not marketed as digitizer ready?
If so, is there any way for me to enable my screen to allow for digitizer use?

Answer:ThinkPad Yoga 14 - Digitizer Pen

Good day.

Looking at the models that support pen at the PSREF link you included, please notice that it specifies "Active Pen". This is not the same as the ThinkPad Digitizer Pen. That's why it won't work for you.

You need the newer, AAAA battery-powered Active Pen. Apologies, but I don't have a link for it.

I just got a Yoga S1 with the Digitizer Pen.  Is the pen supposed to behave similar to a standard touch?  In otherwords, can I use it instead of my finger when touching the screen?  So far it doesn't seem to have any affect on the windows start screen.  I know the pen works because I found an app that translates the writing to text (can't remember the app name, still learning what came on the computer).  I'm just trying to learn the capabilities and limitations of the pen. Thanks in advance

Answer:Digitizer to fit in thinkpad yoga

the wacom digitiser should be bonded to the LCD, and does not come as a separate part. http://support.lenovo.com/en_AU/product-and-parts/detail.page?&DocID=PD029829

Hi, After working out that my laptop (Thinkpad Yoga S1) most likely has a digitizer, I purchased a pen for it. However, since I wasn't 100% sure, I bought a cheaper, off-brand pen that people said was compatible, the listing for which can be found here. I received it today, but my computer seems unresponsive when I try to use it. When I went to Wacom Pen or Pen and Touch Input, the pen calibration screens were either blank (Wacom) or didn't load (Input). Is there something else I have to do to make my pen work? Did I purchase the wrong pen? If it helps, the pen slot on my computer is still plugged; I was going to unplug it, but to do so I'd have to remove the back paneling, and one of the screws keeping it in place has been stripped. The thread confirming that my laptop has a digitizer is here. Thanks!

Answer:Thinkpad Yoga digitizer pen

Hi

Please notice that this is my personal opinon and it does not mean I'm 100% right, this is based on my experience.

I think that the "Digitizer PEN for Lenovo ThinkPad X60 X61 X200 X201" is for older Thinkpad models. I have a Thinkpad Yoga 14 (Similar to S1) (20DM008UUS) and it has a digitizer screen, but it requires an "active pen" (with batteries inside) to be able to work with the digitizer.

I have the Thinkpad Pen Pro and it works fine with my model. I still think you have a digitizer on your laptop but I think it is the wrong pen.

Here it also some more info about the pen that Amy wrote.

Hello, I'd like to know if the Yoga 520 offers an active digitizer making the use of an active pen possible. Not a passive/capacitive one, but an ACTIVE one. I've recently bought a notebook which said it had support for active pens and ended up with a touchscreen instead which offers capacitive pen support only. I aim to use Staffpad with it so if I could be informed of it's compatibility with the app that'd be better.

Even if I place a ruler on the screen and draw the line end up jagged and bumpy. It's the same using both the built in pen and the Active pen, and in every art program. The effect is worse if I try to draw slow. Is this normal? Is the digitizer this bad? /Tobias

Hello,I just bought a Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 12 (20DL000SIX) that does not come with the pen apparently (I still have to receive it physically), but *does* have the full HD capacitive screen multitouch (1920 x 1080).I also bought separately the Thinkpad Yoga digitizer pen (4X80F22110).I spent a lot of time to understand if the two are compatible (i.e. the wacom digitizer is installed or not on the laptop), and on Lenovo website, following Products -> Accessories&Software -> Search For Compatible Accessories For Your System, it looks that indeed they are:http://shop.lenovo.com/SEUILibrary/controller/e/web/LenovoPortal/en_US/catalog.workflow:find-compati... I see that there are multiple posts on similar issue, confirming that the communication of Lenovo about pens and digitizer is really inadequate.I read in many places that the thinkpad yoga's that don't come with the pen do *not* have the digitizer. I also read that the full HD screens does have te digitizer. So, I'm getting confused...: my yoga does have the full HD but does not come with the pen included! There is no clear information anywhere and also the Lenovo  support (I called on the phone many times) is not satisfactive on this.Does anyone have the same model, or have a more clear idea on this topic? Thanks!Giulia

Answer:Thinkpad Yoga 12: digitizer? (20DL000SIX)

Hi giulsi

I also agree with you on this subject. There is much confusion with the "pens" on Thinkpad Yogas.
I think that Lenovo should specify better on the webpage (shop) which Thinkpad Yoga came with Active Pen, and on the Pen pages (also on the shop page) they should specify which models apply for it, and where to search if you computer has support for it.

How to know if you Thinkpad Yoga is Pen Compatible?
For the moment one thing that works to know if your Thinkpad is "Pen Compatible" is to search on the PSRef books.
http://psref.lenovo.com/
or
http://psref.lenovo.com/Book

I searched your model:
http://psref.lenovo.com/Detail/ThinkPad_Yoga_12?M=20DL000S%2B%2B
It says it has:

Pen
Digitizer pen

So that's good......
There are other models that says "Active Pen".. not sure if that means it only works with the "Thinkpad Pen Pro" or not.

How to resolve the question of which pen is good for you?
Thinkpad Yoga Pen suppor page:
https://support.lenovo.com/ec/es/documents/pd030464
It says "The ThinkPad Yoga Pen supports the ThinkPad Yoga." So it may also work.

I'm guessing that it will work, but please post back when you get your pen to see if it works with your model.
Regards

Hello everyone, I'm in the market for a Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga for work. It needs to have the digitizer pen/panel. How do I determine if the model has a digitizer pen/panel? Is a 1080p panel enough to determine it? I'm looking at stores online and they don't really list this information. Thanks in advance

Hi everyone. I am looking to buy a laptop for university (studying engineering). I would like something that is durable, and powerful. Thats why I am looking into getting the Thinkpad Yoga. I love the convertable and compact feel, as well as the SSD that I will be getting with it.  However, another reason why I wanted to get it is because of the 'Active Digitzer'. I didn't even know what this was called since a week ago, and I still cant seem to understand what this feature will allow me to do? How does the Digitzer benefit me? Especially when I compare it to the Yoga Pro 2 (even tough that also has a touchscreen). Am I unable to draw on a YP2? Would I not be able to draw on the screen? I want to use it mainly when I use Adobe Illutrator. Is the Digitzer option worth the extra money I have to pay? With that feature added on, I will be paying almost $2000 :s

Answer:Thinkpad Yoga: Is it worth it and Digitizer?

Hi there: I have been using X230T, a predessor of Thinkpad Yoga. X230T also comes with a digitizer. I bought X23)T also for a reason: I can take note during class. I am not an engineer but a finance student. 1. You might want an Active Digitizer because it allows you to write on-screen. Use Microsoft One Note. Your computer can replace your pen and paper.2. You can still draw on YP2. But what do you feel when you use your finger, say your pointer, as a pen  YP2 does not have a digitizer pen. 3. The pen I believe is included. You do not have to pay extra unless you want to have a spare one. 4. I think Lenovo Thinkpad has lost its quality legacy from IBM. I do not like the new layout of the keyboard (I like the trackpoint but the moust click now share with the trackpad. It is just ridiculous. You cannot have an accurate click with it (for me))5. Just look at the Microsoft new Surface pro 3. You might like it! If the next time I upgrade my computer, I would by a Surface pro instead of the Thinkpad.   Cheers

Hello, I purchased two new Yoga 12 notebooks and have tried to wipe and install my own volume license version of Windows 8.1. I downloaded the drivers from the support site and installed all but am getting problems with the xHCI USB 3.0 controller. The driver always shows as failed state.  When I try to go and download the xHCI driver as a standalone driver it shows as only available for Windows 7. When I try to install it I always get the error "This product does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software". At this point I do not have USB 3.0 and my digitizer pen does not work when touching the screen. My other notebook does work, but I have not installed my copy of Windows 8.1 on it. The driver must be somewhere, can someone point me in the right direction? I already tried to use system update but all it found was some bios update and wifi drivers. I really need to get the pen to work. If you touch the screen it works fine, its just the pen and apparently USB 3.0. My model is 20DL003AUS. Thanks, n152

Hi, Could somebody please point me to the place where it list the digitizer in the Thinkpad Yoga as a Wocom? I see it all over in review sites, but I can't find it in the description or the product specifications. I'm interested in this model:20CD00AVUS, which I know includes a digitizer, but I want to make sure its definitely Wacom... they all just say "digitizer". So I guess what I am trying to figure out is:1. Are ALL digitizers installed in Thinkpad Yoga's the same, or do they vary in brand/quality?2. How can I find out if its a Wacom? Thanks for the help.

Answer:Thinkpad Yoga - Wacom Digitizer?

First off the digitizer technology consists of two parts the digitizer enabled screen and the digitizer pen. Second i'd say all the TPYs have the same digitizer Technology (both screen and pen) licensed from Wacom. So the pen itself is probably prdouced by Lenovo or a third party. --- By the way other products like the Surface Pro, Vaio Duo or Galaxy Note have the same technology built in and you can use there respective digitizer pens for the TPY as well.

So like I do from time to time, I'm configuring a Thinkpad Yoga to mull over (window shopping until I can afford one) when I notice that there's no mention of a digitizer or pen functionality any more, anywhere. Did something happen to it? Pen support was a deal breaker for me.

Answer:Thinkpad Yoga - Digitizer not available anymore??

I noticed this missing info too when ordering my custom ThinkPad Yoga, so at checkout I added pen from the optional accessories. When my laptop arrived, it came with two pens! One inside the laptop package, and another in separate box. I suppose it might be their website issue or country-specific supply issue.

I learned that the digitizer with Helix cannot be used as an eraser, does the ThinkPad Yoga digitizer have the same problem? Thanks

Solved!

Answer:ThinkPad Yoga Digitizer Question

the digitiser pen on Helix, TPT2 and Yoga all lack the traditional eraser function of the traditional ThinkPad X series tablet. There is a side button on the digitiser pen, which you can use for eraser function. Alternatively, get the X series tablet digitiser pen which has an eraser function, they work with the ThinkPad Yoga (and is what i am using now).

Hello, I just received my new shiny TPY (again). The first time I got it, the digitizer wasn't working. After a bit of research I realized that it probably was a hardware issue (No digitizer, pen or wacom device in device-manager). So I send it back. The mainboard got replaced and today I have my machine back. It was all working fine including the digitizer. But from one minute to the other it stopped working and I can't find any wacom or digitizer devices in the device-manager.Now my first thought was, that the Windows updates messed something up, so I've done a rollback but it's still not working.Am I doing something wrong or is it a hardware issue again? Thanks for advance.Robinhuett

Answer:ThinkPad Yoga - Digitizer is not working

Hello. It isn't a Hardware Problem. It seems to be a software problem after Windows 8.1 Update. I have the same problem :-( When I start the PC it works perfect, until I used it as Tablet. After that the Digitizer Pen didn't work. So I reinstalled all drivers. After that the pen worked.. so I tested it again as Tablet, after that. the Digitizer Pen didn't work. Now I installed all drivers again but the Pen didn't worked. It is a big problem at Lenovo, because Lenovo has problems with the pen software a long time. It is soooo sad because I love the Thinkpad Yoga but with this Problem the price isn't acceptable. So I am going to send it back and wait for the Surface Pro 3. Because Thinkpad stands for the perfect Business Notebook and now... Lenovo has with the digitizer pen more problems than all others. And this is very sad :-(

I was wondering if the Yoga 3 touch screen has a wacom digitizer so I could use a wacom smart pen for example.  I would like to use my Yoga 3 to draw things but somehow no graphic pen is officially convertible with it. The WACOM Smart Pen is convertible with any product with WACOM digitizer so I want to know if my laptop has this. If not, does anybody have another suggestion which pen I could use for drawing?

Hi! I would like to buy this Thinkpad yoga model and I would like to know if the screen is digitizer enabled and it comes with the pen. What is the storage capacity on this model?I asked various vendors from this site and everybody tells me something different... http://www.shopbot.ca/pp-lenovo-thinkpad-s1-yoga-i5-4300u-20c0001hus-lenovo-price-483964.html

So the majority of the vendors told me that the storage is 180Gb SSD and that the digitizer pen is not included. Anyway the screen is an fhd1920 x 1080, so my question is... If I buy a pen somewhere willl I be able to use the digitizer stylus anyway?Thank you

I just purchased a refurbished Thinkpad S1 Yoga from outlet. The description mentioned nothing about coming with a pen or having digitizer compatibility although these descriptions are generally not very detailed to begin with. I was reading that some of these machines (FHD) with the same specs as mine don't come with a pen nor  compatibility and am not sure if those two features can exist separately.  I think the newer versions all have both. Is there a way to tell if mine's compatible or not? I don't think it will come with a pen and I don't want to open the box before finding out. Part number if it helps: MP053KKL-20CDCTR1WW Thanks.

Hey guys!I am looking forward to buy this beauty here: http://shopap.lenovo.com/au/en/laptops/thinkpad/yoga-series/yoga-14/ it's the second one with the 256 GB ssd and i7.I already asked this question to the Facebook Page of Lenovo Australia and New Zealand, but the guys there didn't get it.Does this particular laptop come with a wacom digitizer? So could I use, let's say, a wacom intuos pen to draw, make sketches and write notes?I asked the guys on Facebook if the laptop comes with an active digitizer layer, but all they answered was "it doesn't come with an active pen". They didn't answer on my second question whether or not if it comes at least with a wacom digitizer. That's why I signed up here Thanks for your help!

Maybe i should add that I already looked up the details on the sales page and all it says is: "Active pen: none"

I'm trying to find out what digitizers might work as an alternative to the pen supplied with the Thinkpad Yoga S1. I find the accuracy and comfort of the supplied pen to be insufficient. I'd like to know if anyone has found one that includes an eraser and whether it's fully functional. If there are pens that are compatible, what is involved in getting it to work? Does one have to initialize or somehow associate it to the laptop?

Ok so i just recieved a thinkpad yoga S1. The one i got was the one without the digitizer pen automatically installed into the computer's side. The pen came separately and its the exact same one as the one used with the version that comes with the pen. I dont know the product code or even what its called. Which driver do i install and how can i register the product? Also, since the version i have has like a little black piece where the digitizer normally goes is there any way i can take it out and be able to accomodate the pen that came seperatly?

I think there is only two options it either comes with the pen or it doesn't. The one that doesn't have the pen built into it doesn't support the pen because of the panel used. That is waht I remember when I was researching into this unit.

During a "smackdown" review between an X1 Yoga and a Surface Book it was shown that the SB had smooter (less pixilated) pen strokes.  I noted the SB had a higher resolution screen than the X1 Yoga and I wonder if the digitizer resolution is related to the LCD resolution?  Would a X1 Yoga with a WQHD screen have less pixilated pen strokes than a X1 Yoga with a 1080p screen? Thanks

Hello, I just got a yoga 14, and I see that there is a wacom device in the device manager, as well as a wacom pen configuration application installed. The computer didn't come with a stylus, so I've been trying to find one that will be compatible with this wacom device. So far I've tried lenovo part number 4X80F22110, as well as a wacom bamboo smart stylus, but neither have worked.  Can  someone clarify what exact type of stylus is required to work with the device in my laptop? Lenovo support wasn't very helpful, nor was wacom's.

Answer:Yoga 14 (20dm008uus) wacom digitizer stylus?

The pen with part number 4X80F22110 as well as the Wacom Bamboo Smart pen are pens that use the Wacom EMR technology. The ThinkPad Yoga 14 only supports pens that use the Wacom Active ES technology (optionally, as there are some configurations where pens other than those for capacitive touch screens that imitate your finger don't work at all)As your ThinkPad Yoga 14 seems to support the Wacom Active ES-based pens, you should try the ThinkPad Pen Pro (4X80H34887)

Hey, just in case someone is interested in pressure sensitivity for the Thinkpad Yoga.Try this driver from wacom ;-)http://www.wacom.eu/index4.asp?pid=9278&lang=de This morning I had a phone call with the Lenovo Support Europe regarding the subject, but all they were able was to tell me to send my brand new Yoga in. I can not tell you how disappointed I am from this support. They are hardly to understand and they know nothing!!! As an early adopter of the Thinkpad Tablet 1 this was not my first experience with them and the only reason to buy the Yoga was that there is no alternative for my kind of usage. Nevertheless I found the solution by my self and I can't tell you how happy I am. Not to be misunderstood, this is a problem of the european support I don't believe (or hope) that it is the same with the US support and especially the Lenovo Staff in this forum does a really good job!

Hi, Today (or last night, not sure) three columns of my TPY 460's digitizer seem to have stopped working. Two of them are right next to each other, the third one a little further to the right. (I'm guessing the number of columns by the distance of the small dots that you can see on the display when you look at it from an angle). When I tap the pen onto the two defective columns, nothing happens, when I drag it across, it stops on one side and then jumps to the other. It's similar for the single column, but there isn't a complete stop and a jump, more of a non-linearity, the cursor moves slower, then faster, then slower again. For finger touch, the problem is similar. Is this a common problem that can be fixed by properly plugging  some cables or should I return the computer? (It's a demopool device, so I have no warranty, but I can return it within two weeks without a reason).

Hi I hope someone can help me. I have had my S1 for about 10 months now and i have had no issues with the pen and using it. I used the pen last weekend in lectures, taking notes with no issues or problems and have gone to use it today, as part of my assignment, and it just isn't working at all. It doesn't matter if its in laptop, tent or tablet mode, i get no resposne from the pen at all. I have had a look in the device manager and have no issue notifications, but likewise, i can't locate anythingthat i think looks like the digital pen drivers (nothing Wacom in there). I have searched around the forums and o-line and can't seem to find anything that might help me. I have just purchased the ThinkPad Yoga. I was wondering if there is a way to change what "handedness" you on when using the digitizer pen. I am left handed and the pen is obvioulsy configured to be used with your right hand. So when I write using the pen the writing and the pen tip to not match up like it is supposed to. It matches perfectly if I were to write something with my right hand but when I use my left hand, the writing is off (as in the letters do not match up to where I wanted to write them) Any information on this would be great, kind of anoying for trying to add notes in class. Thanks

Recently I found out that my lenovo yoga 710-15ikb laptop doesnt support digitizer active pen technology. Its hidden in online talks and also frustration when you buy a $70 wacom bamboo ink pen to find that it doesnt work. I understand that most active pens wont work with my computer because the screen (and maybe motherboard) dont have a digitizer. However, I have been looking online and some retailers appear to be selling digitizer lcd screens for my specific model. My question is whether or not these retailers are selling aftermarket screens and if they are will the digitizer work once one is installed? Also, I have a lot of experience doing repair work, mainly with digital cameras and building my desktop, so the task of replacing my laptops screen is not a problem Im just unsure as to whether or not buying a new digitizer lcd screen will work. I dont want to spend money that I dont have to if it turns out that I am just being misled.

Thanks!

Let me know if you need more clarification I'll be around for a while.

I am experiancing a strange problem with the pen/ digitiser: after waking up from standby, the pen seems to go into a frenzied clicking when i touch it to the screen, i.e. as if the pen is tapping the screen continously at very high speed. The problem goes away upon restarting the machine but comes back after standby. I have installed all windows and lenovo updates to no avail...any one familiar with the issue?

Answer:Thinkpad yoga 12 2015, pen digitizer issue after standby

On certain occasions after wake up from standby, the pen seems to stop working completely until a restart. It seems to be very intermittent.I looked for updates to the wacom driver on wacoms website, with no luck. Strangely enough, the current driver being used for the thinkpads (and presumably all tablet pc's) comes under their 'Legacy' drivers section!

I just got a brand new Yoga 12, and it has the integrated stylus in the laptop. When i first set it up, I was able to use the stylus to hand write in a program like one note. Let's say I close my laptop, and walk to a different room, when I open it back up from sleep mode, touch screen still works, but the computer doesn't respond at all to the stylus. No handwriting support, no touch support with the pen, only my capactive fingers. I find this very odd, and it works when I restart, but this seems to be a common issue with my peers who have Yoga 12's as well. Is there a fix for this? my wacom drivers are up to date, not sure if I should buy another stylus if this issue is recurring or not.

Today my digitizer stopped working for the first time since I purchased my Thinkpad Yoga several years ago. Touch screen still works as normal. I don't think it's software related because I dual boot Windows and Ubuntu and it doesn't work in either operating system. Before it would work in both operating systems, and I haven't had any updates since it was last working. Is it possible for the digitizer itself to be broken somehow? I haven't dropped the device or spilled any liquid on it. I've read elsewhere on the forum that the digitizer is powered by a capacitor that is charged within the laptop. Is this still true for Thinkpad Yogas? Are there steps I can take to diagnose the issue?

I have a problem where the digitizer pen interittently stops working on the yoga S1 - win8.1 x64 with all updates applied.I can re-create the issue by folding the screen from normal mode to  tablet mode, then normal mode , then tablet mode. At this point, the pen susually stops working. I can get it to come back to life sometimes if i wait a minute, or if i go to power settings and apply / un apply something or by restart. It sounds like a driver issue to me - and possiby power management drivers - triggered by swithcing to tablet mode.I have tried max perfromance, min power savings etc to stop the screen driver being starved of power, have disabled sleep and hibernation. Done multiple driver re-installs, but no difference. Sometimes restarting the drivers relating to the pen and touch screen bring it back to life. But it should not die in the first place. Anyone else have this or do i have a hardware issue?

I recently purchased a Yoga 13 and have noticed the following: - First 1 had a dead pixel, I called Lenovo to see what the policy was and they said that I could return it and get a new one under the 30 day satisfaction policy- The one they sent was much worse, the bottom right portion of the screen washed out quite noticeably when there were darker colours (such as black)- I returned that one and they sent a new one which also has a dead pixel.- I should also mention that when I called about my first laptop the rep I talked to said he processed the return, but after not getting or hearing anything for 2 weeks I called to follow up and they had no record of the conversation. The new rep processed everything, both replacements have been handled promptly apart from that first rep.  I am less than impressed with the screen quality so far. For a 1,000 laptop I was hoping for something that was better quality. Has anyone else been having these issues? I asked the one rep if they had been receiving returns and they said they hadn't seen any Yoga 13's coming back. It seems strange that I would have issue with the 3 that I have had so far. I was also wondering what my options are. Its taken about 2 months and I really am no farther ahead then the first laptop. At this point I am not seeing the advantage to having spent the extra money on a Lenovo.

Hi, I've been using the Yoga 3 pro for the last month and have two touch screen issues:
1. Sometime after waking up the screen gets crazy with many circles on screen like many fingers are touching it. Only after restart it comes up as needed. Can't understand the reason for that.
2. In the office I'm using ThinkPad USB 3 Dock. The Yoga's lid is closed and I'm using external keyboard, mouse, and screen. every few minutes the screen gets crazy and it looks like something is touching the touch screen and the cursor runs to one corner of the screen (usually lower left or lower right) of course then I can't work and I have to open the lid and close it to make it work properly again.
Any Ideas? Thanks

hi yoga3user1,

Welcome to the Forums.

Can you try the following:

Issue #1:
- Follow this guide on how to disable Automatic Driver Installation
- Under the Device Manager > Human Interface Devices, right click and uninstall on anything that says HID-compliant device (this is to refresh the driver that controls the touchscreen) and observe.

Issue #2:
As suggested by francoeur500 in this thread, can you try to uncheck the Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power setting on all USB Root Hubs under Device Manager > Universal Serial Bus Controller and also in the Power Options and observe.

Hi,I have a 2nd generation Thinkpad Yoga 12.5 inch notebook. I have had this computer for about 18 months and the screen is completely ruined in many places. I have the matte screen and it appears that the pen has been scratching the soft matte finnish at many places. There are also big smudges from the keyboard that does not go away when I try to clean the screen. I am happy with this laptop overall, but I think it is terrible design to fail to make sure that the screen and keyboard is not touching when the lid is closed! Is it possible to fix these screen issues? Looking at the corner of the the screen, it looks like there is a screenprotector or similar on the device. Is this how Lenovo makes their matte screens? Just pasting a screen protector on top of a glossy screen? If so, would it be possible for me to remove it without damaging the actual screen and get rid of the scratches and smudges? Cheers Cheers

Hello everybody,  I found a few topics on this already but none have helped so far so as  last resort I'll ask here what might be my options: I have a Yoga 2 Pro that is out of warranty.  It's not mine so I don't know exactly what happend but this is the story I got was this: The person was using it out on his porch.  It was sunny but not hot where it can overheat.  He got a black screen and decided to plug in hdmi to his TV.  It worked and he tried to do a system restore to a previous date.  Problem is he picked a system point before upgrading to Windows 10 so it tried to go back to Windows 8.1.  After that he said even the video to the TV didn't work. Now the computer turns on, keyboard lights up but I can't get ANY kind of video neither on the screen or via HDMI out.  I've tried everything I can think of like pulling the battery out and the CMOS battery for over 24 hours (including draining extra power). At this point before I tell him it's a motherboard issue, is there anything I can do other than that?  It seems odd that a motherboard might die from a Windows system restore.  The SSD is fine and working. Note: At one point while turning it off and on, I did get the BIOS to show up on the laptop screen for less than a second but I never got that lucky again.  Thanks for any suggestions.

I received my P40 Yoga 6 days ago, and i absolutly love this machine!!!however after spending the first few days updating and istalling all relevent apps for my work (Illusrtator-photographer), when i began drawing on photoshop i fliped into tablet mode and the screen autoroted... 15 minutes later the pen started acting up( cursor was not where it was supposed to be). I decided to restart just incase it was due to updates or any other reason. After restart touch screen was not working, pen worked but not very well. After 7 hours and trying to get the touch to work, and full factory reset still no change, same issue... eventually by luck did some fliping and rotatig, recalibrating and by luck touch screen worked again... this has happened 2 times now so i believe its some sort of issue with screen rotation or tablet mode issues. I hope its a fixable bug and not a hardware issue. This is an amazing machine which i want by my side at all times so please, please resolve this problemthanks

So I noticed a change in the screen on our laptop. Of course it is only a few months out of warranty. I'm just wondering if anyone else has had this problem. I know some older laptops had a similer problem. I have posted a picture to help with what I am seeing. The white spot is under the screen. Nothing has been done to the laptop, nothing has been spilled on the laptop, there is no reason that anything I did would have damaged the laptop in any way. It looks like water between the backlight and the LCD screen, but that is impossible. It's never gotten wet. Thanks for any input. http://i237.photobucket.com/albums/ff6/Geoffwhite18/yoga%20screen_zpseye7aeec.jpg~original

Did you get any offline response from Lenovo?  My screen has this in the lower-left corner.  My computer has also not gotten wet.

I am having two issues with my Yoga 2 Pro: 1. The Webcam works intermittently. The device appears and disappears from the Device Manager listing. This problem has deteriorated to the point that the camera mostly doesn't work.2. The Screen goes black / flashes, then works correctly again. This happens much less than the camera issue, but I'm expecting it to become worse based on what has happened with the camera. I believe these issues are related - likely a loose connection or faulty cable. My machine is out of warranty. Is this a known issue that Lenovo will repair for free?

Answer:Yoga 2 Pro Webcam and Screen issues

Hi Pwillies,

Welcome to Lenovo Forums.

No, this not a known issue for any model.  To fix the flickering problem, you should first check the laptop cables for loose connections. You try updating BIOS.

If still issue persist, also there could be a chance where internal cables having loose connections. Hence I would suggest you to visit the nearest Lenovo service center for better assistance

Hope this helps.  Please let me know your findings.

Shashi

I broke my screen a few weeks ago and after purchasing a replacement screen from a third party manufacturer I got it working for a few days. However, today, I was using it earlier and suddenly the screen turned into flickering pixelated lines for a few seconds then it went black. I've tried diassemblign and reassembling it to make sure all the connectors are intact but wasn't able to get it working again. Now I'm stuck in a situation where I don't know if my LCD is faulty or wether it's the LCD connector. How can I figure out what it is and would you happen to know the part number for the LCD connector. Any help would be appreciated.  EDIT: Another thing to note is that I am currently using it on an external monitor and when I go to display settings, it only identifies 1 monitor (the external one). I am not sure if this is indicative of something but maybe it could be useful. EDIT 2: Just discovered that my touch screen is still working. Thank You

I'm having a couple of issues on my brand new Yoga 3 14".I just booted up this morning and the touchscreen is non-responsive. I've tried hard booting, restarting, shutting down and booting back up, booting up with the power plug in, without it in. Nothing is affecting the touch screen. Having no other problems with the comp (other than a slight screen distortion which has been there since the comp's first boot up - a black line about 1 pixel wide with a length down the entire screen, it only shows up on some colors on the screen and cannot be seen in a screen shot, I will include an image of it that I took with my phone), no probs with the trackpad touch. I've tried turning airplane on and off. (Image of the screen distortion) I think what caused the touch screen issues has to do with the Windows update the comp just had. I was logging off last night and it wanted to do an update before shutting down. Not sure what the update was for, but it was fairly short. I am on Windows 8 (pre-installed). I just received my Yoga 3 a few days ago and have only used it a handful of times so far. I've barely changed any settings or done anything to it that could have altered the comp. I haven't even transferred my files yet or used it for a full day of computing. The most time I've spent on it so far has been to watch a TV show on Netflix last night... I've only flipped it into a different mode once, last night. I did not have trouble with the touch screen last night, on... Read more

Hi,I seem to be having a few rcent issues with the touchscreen response on my Yoga 11S. Seemed to make through the Windows 8.1 update last year without many issues.  1) Touchscreen only works when it's folded less than 90deg from the keyboard. If I fold it back or in to Tent or Tablet mode, the touchscreen is not responsive at all. Seems like this is a sensor/transition issue of some sort? If I touch the screen while folding the screen back and forth, I can see the transition when it stops responding to touch.  2) When folded, any touch to the screen results in a single touch input in the center-right of screen. I see the circular touch input on the screen at that point. (EDIT - this seems to have gone away for now... would appreciate some help with #1...  though this doesn't necessarily bode well) Are there Yoga touchscreen drivers or a test utility I can use to try to fix this? WIndows 8.1, Intel i5-4210Y CPU... any other info I can provide?  Thanks in advance John

Answer:Yoga 11s touch screen issues (when folding)

Follow-up for #1If I fold the screen in (<90 degrees) and view the computer properties, it say "Full Windows Touch Support with 10 Touch Points"If I fold the screen back to regular laptop mode, it says "No pen or touch input available" If I fold/unfold the screen while viewing the Device Manager, I see the # of Human Interface Devices change from 3 (at folded out) to 7 (while folded in)

Hi i'm having problems similar to https://support.lenovo.com/nz/en/documents/sf15-i0024 however this is said to be specific to the LG 14" whereas i have a generic 13".sometimes it works fine, other times is ignore touch clickssometimes when i do a touch scroll it zooms as if i had pinchedall the while there are these circles like what you get if you hold your touch on the screen - it seems to be persisting the touch.the mousepad works intermittently, i guess confused by the simultaneous false signals from the touchscreen any help greatly appreciated

Hey guys first off im new to the community cause I just got my first Lenovo about 10 days ago after using HP's for most of my life. So far I love it, everything about it is amazing its got the i7 processor and the Intel 5500 graphics which is plenty for anything I can bring to the table. But I have had two issues with it so far I havent been able to resolve; 1. Somehow or another after the second day I set my computer in what im assuming is "FN key lock" or something like that. F1-F12 normally would require you to hold FN in order to click, while the functions such as mute, volume up/down, brightness adjust, etc... would be free to click. But then after the second day it switched and I prefer it the way it was at first. 2. This one is a little more serious. about 1 out of every 4 times I start my computer the touch screen will begin to freak out and act as if something is touching it in like 20 different places at the same time. I can see the little touch circles appear all over the screen when my hands arent even touching the computer. Obviously when this is happening it renders the computer useless cause everything gets clicked and all I can do to stop it is force shut it down. Any help or solutions would be MUCH appreciated, thanks guys!!!

Just got an X1 Yoga 2nd Gen, and while the trackpad buttons (the mouse buttons, not the trackpad itself) seem more reliable than my X1 Carbon, they make a ton of noise. Unless you depress them directly in the center (which is difficult, given their width & the fact that I rest my thumb on the middle button for scrolling), you can hear a "pop" that sounds like one of those old-tymey Atari 400 membrane keyboards. It's loud enough that I imagine it would be irritating to anyone sitting next to me at work.  Is this a design issue, or do I need to RMA the thing? Also, the screen has a couple issues:  First, the color is uneven (greener on the left, pinker on the right), which I suspect is due to the bleed I see with a black screen in the upper-left corner.  Not sure if OLEDs are even supposed to have bleed problems, but it's fairly obvious in a dark room.  I suspect this is a repair situation, but just wondering if it's a known problem. Finally, when playing a movie, the screen drops to low-contrast after 5-10min of no user input.  (This is Windows 10.)  Moving the pointer pops it back into high contrast.  It very much appears to be a contrast thing, and not the screen dimming.  I've turned off all the auto-dimming settings I could find - but the Intel one that was my suspected culprit seems to be missing from the Intel interface you get by right-clicking on the desktop.  Has anyone noticed/solved this particular issue?  (A... I was really hoping that this would be the perfect PC.  Everyone Raves about Lenovo's quality.  For the most part I love this thing.  I even made a Keyboard cover for tablet mode,  Hobby lobby special 1/4 black foam and two 1/2 bands of elastic.  It needs a bit of tweaking but anyways. Model: 11s  This thing was built in march I believe.  Most of been sitting in a supply yard.  I love how Lenovo cheated on the site and said that it wouldn't be built for two weeks. and then suddenly it appeared in the states.   Linksys wrt54g v5 with last firmware for its model and age I've messed with the settings a bit trying to get it better but no go.  The real issue is the Wi-Fi.  There are zero issues of Wi-Fi dropping in and out.  It does have one huge problem.  The signal is always weak.  It rarely fills the last bar.   My wife's old netbook gets a better signal.   What gives Lenovo.  You obviously see complaints and you even delayed the release of the 11s.  Screen issue.  It only appears on a white screen.  You have to tilt the screen and really focus in the bottom left hand corner of the screen.  It has this real faint diagonal light streak.  I've been monitoring to see if it gets worse but so far no real issues.  I'm not sure what to think about it.  It just annoys the hell out of me.

Answer:Yoga 11s Wifi issues and odd screen streak

I really enjoy the form fact or my Yoga... I'm annoyed at the fact I rarely see a full five bars (only four).  It may just be my old Linksys, but that's not the issue.  In the corner of my screen near the left hinge there is this faint diagonal light streak.  It only shows up on a white screen.  I noticed it one week into owner ship.  I rarely use the thing and I keep it in a safe place.  I don't ever abuse the thing.  So I'm unsure if there is a way to tell if It was accidental damage or just a faulty screen.  I mainly flip it from the left side (where the streak of light is).  The hinge kind of creaks when I flip it.   There is no visible separation of the plastic.  The glass is intact but I just can't get pass the light streak.   Its worrying me.  I want to call warranty on it but I can't afford to pay for it if they say its user error.  I know I didn't break it.  I just don't know if there is a way to tell that I want get screwed over and have to fork out money I don't have.

I love this notebook when I have a monitor plugged in, but internal display is horrible as I cant see anything in many applications because of the 4k resaloution.  Is there a way to have it set so I can read the applications when I unplug my exxternal monitor?  Having to constantly scale every time I unplug is not fun, and I cannot get it quite right. Thanks in advance

Following the Windows 10 upgrade and subsequent updates,  my Yoga 2 Pro no longer switches between modes. I can fold the laptop back into tent or tablet mode, but I then have to manually rotate the screen by using the CTRL-ALT-Arrow Keys. The keyboard functionality does not change automatically either.  I have tried several solutions suggested across multiple forums - and to no avail. At this point I have done the following:  1. Updated all related drivers and BIOS. 2. Confirmed that all sensor services are running and are set to automatic. 3. Uninstalled Transitions and stopped, started, restarted, and ultimately disabled YMC. 4. Run some sort of registry script that was supposedly helping others. 5. And, it should go without saying (but I'll say it anyway), I have confirmed that the auto-rotate lock is NOT turned on; either in the side Action Center menu on the right or through display settings. I do have access to this "button" though. I know for others it was greyed out and not functioning.  The notebook does nothing when I rotate it around. Frustrating, to say the least, as this is the entire point of the Yoga 2 Pro - to seamlessly switch modes.  I can see from other posts that this is a universal problems with 2-in-1 devices and other tablets following the switch to Win10, and posts go back almost a year. Has there been ANY resolution? I would love to get my functioning machine back!  Thanks... Read more

Hi, We're going to be deploying ~150 Yoga 260 laptops in the next month and I am working on getting them to image with SCCM.  We are imaging them with Windows 7 (unfortunately). I am able to image them and I install the Screen Rotation Utility -- http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/Laptops-and-netbooks/ThinkPad-Yoga-Series-laptops/ThinkPad-... -- through SCCM and it installs fine, but when I fold the computer into Tablet mode it switches to portrait mode and stays there and does not automatically rotate. This will persist through a reboot.  It will stay like this until I switch it back manually (Screen Resolution --> Landscape).   If I click the auto-rotate button icon in the system tray area it will also switch to portrait mode until I manually change it back. Also when folded into Tablet mode the trackpad will stop working all together until a reboot.  A USB mouse will still work fine. I thought there was maybe a sensor hub driver that might go along with the screen rotate utility, but I didn't see one listed on the driver page (http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/Laptops-and-netbooks/ThinkPad-Yoga-Series-laptops/ThinkPad-... I installed an old version that I used when deploying the Yoga 12 last year, but it still does the same thing. In addition when trying to install the Hotkeys software (http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/Laptops-and-netbooks/ThinkPad-Yoga-Series-... I really enjoy my Lenova laptop but since I got it from Best Buy I have had minor screen issues. They are more annoying than a true issue but I would like to learn some sort of resolution if possible. It seems to be just minor glitches in the screen, little black boxes that pop up at various points on my screen and if I move my mouse over them, they go away. It has happened ever since I got my laptop about 2 months ago, it was not after any update or device changes that I am aware of. Posted is a picture of my screen when it happens. It just happens randomly and if you notice it is at the top around the tabs and just one of the topics on my screen.

I have recently purchased lenovo thinkpad x1 yoga from Germany. I have tried to install different versions of linux ubuntu in dual boot, but none of them seems to work. It boots from the bootable usb and gives the live ubuntu and install ubuntu options but when you enter then it displays a blank screen and nothing happens afterwards. I am facing another issue pretty consistently that the touch screen becomes unresponsive most of the times. When i use the pen it works fine but it does not works with my fingers. Looking forward to some solution as its pretty annoying experiencing such bugs in such an expensive machine. Thanks
