Thinkpad Yoga 20CDCTR1WW - Touch Screen not responding to touch - intermittent

Question: Thinkpad Yoga 20CDCTR1WW - Touch Screen not responding to touch - intermittent

Received my ThinkPad Yoga today - i7 ? 8 Gb - 256 Gb SSD - Win 8.1 pro ? One major problem ? the touch screen stops responding to finger intermittently. It always responds to the stylus. Updated all the Lenovo drivers and did Windows updates. When it stops responding, the only way to get it to work is by doing a shut down ( restart does not work ). Read the forums and disabled and enabled HID-compliant vendor-defined device. That did not make any difference. Is this a common issue and is there a software fix for it or is it just a faulty screen?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Thinkpad Yoga 20CDCTR1WW - Touch Screen not responding to touch - intermittent

Hi Waferthin,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

I?m sorry to hear that you are facing the issue with Touch screen on ThinkPad Yoga.

To resolve the issue please follow the below troubleshooting steps.

Remove the Wacom touch gesture driver in the device manager and make sure to check "uninstall driver" when you do so otherwise the touch will stop working again a minute later.
And after that restart the system and the touch screen driver will automatically install.
In services.msc restart human interface device service to run automatically.

Hope this helps!

Best regards,
Hemanth Kumar

Has anyone noticed that every once in a while, a Yoga screen becomes unresponsive to touch?  I use mine mostly in tablet mode, and sometimes out of the blue, I can no longer do anything with the screen.  I have to use the power button to put the laptop to sleep, and then press it again to wake--everything works again after that.  So I'm wondering why that happens.  Is it a touchscreen driver crashing?  Has anyone found whether there's some driver version that works better or else another solution?  P.S.: Im using all the latest drivers I could find, including the latest Intel display driver.  No other issues at all other than this one.

Answer:Yoga 2 Pro: touch screen stops responding to touch sometimes

I have not had this issue, but is it possible that it has something to do with transitioning in and out of tablet mode?   In my normal usage I have to fold the screen about halfway closed to set my T2P down which puts the device in tablet mode.  Occasionally, when I open it back up the keyboard and touchpad do not respond.  If I close it most of the way then reopen, it snaps back to laptop mode and all is OK.  Your issue may be completely unrelated, but I am offering it in case it jogs some other thoughts.

Hey everybody, I just received my P40 last week as a replacement for another Lenovo device. So far, everything seems to work fine with one exception: When I turn the screen over to the "tablet position", the touch screen and the touch pen show erroneous behaviour.a) As soon as I make the first input with the touch pen, I cannot make any further input with my finger, so the touch input is simply turned off. The Windows setting to ignore touch input when the stylus is used is not active.b) When I try to tap buttons at certain areas of the screen, especially at the upper edge, the cursor of the stylus starts jumping around and shows up at the lower edge of the screen. That means that when I for example tap on the "X" symbol in the upper right corner to close a window, I actually click on some of the symbols in the system tray in the lower right corner. This problem stops occuring as soon as the angle between the two case parts (screen and keyboard) reaches/exceeds approx. 40°. It does not matter if Windows is in "Tablet" or "Desktop" Mode. I already tried to manually install another Wacom driver mentioned at https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-S-Series-ThinkPad-Yoga/Wacom-Tablet-Service-for-ISD-Driver-Win... and https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-P-and-W-Series-Mobile/P40-Yoga-issues/td-p/3293985. I had no luck trying driver versions 7.3.3.12, 7.3.4.8 and 7.3.4.13. I would really appreciate your help since this issue makes working in the tablet position... Read more

Hi All, I just bought an 11" Yoga 710 and have an intermittent problem with the touchscreen coming unresponsive. Its normally ok when I start the machine up, but after a while the screen will come unresponsive so I switch to notebook mode and then most of the time it will come back after a few minutes. I've done a search and tried some of the tricks posted a few years back, turn power management off some of the HID items and disabling them as well. None appear to be a solution.I can provoke the unresponsive ness by opening Facebook in Edge, but it has also happened on other webpages and also when using Spotify.Does anyone have any ideas?

Hey.
Got the Yoga 2 Pro 2 weeks ago. The touchscreen does not work at all today. I've reset/shutdown many times.

Here are the issues I have had in order of occurrence:

- webcam intermittently not coming up during verifice login on resume from sleep (probably ~ 10 times)
- touchscreen went mental, registering hundreds of touches per second all over the screen. Sleeping and waking stopped the mayhem. This happened JUST after plugging in a USB flash drive (which I have used before successfully).
- touchscreen does not work at all. Last night I had my phone plugged in to the laptop for a couple of hours. Touchscreen worked fine I unplugged the phone, but this morning on wake it is not responding at all no matter how many reboots I do.

The first two issues on their own I probably would have ignored, and this ccurrent issue I could imagine being some driver thing. But I worry that the two of them together imply some sort of big USB fault.

I'm not sure what the touchscreen is meant to come up as in device manager, but I've inluded a screenshot below.

Pretty desparate right now. I'm hoping this isn't a  hardware fault because I need this laptop for work =$

Anyway, any advice/idas would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:Yoga 2 Pro touch screen no longer working & intermittent USB issues

As an update for anyone else experiencing this problem...
I left the laptop charging, put it to sleep, and went away for an hour or so.
I just came back and woke it from sleep. The battery is now at 92%. The touchscreen now works fine.

Checking device manager, there are now additional devices listed under "Human Interface Devices". See attached screenshot.

Although it is now working, this and the other issues have been super annoying and I'd like to know if anyone else has anything similar happen, or if there are any fixes.

Hello everybody! The Thinkpad X1 Yoga (2nd Gen) laptop is offered with 3 types of displays, as described by Lenovo:- 14" WQHD (2560 x 1440) OLED Touch- 14" WQHD (2560 x 1440) IPS 10-point Multi-Touch- 14" FHD (1920 x 1080) IPS 10-point Multi-TouchSince the OLED version is not labelled as "10-point Multi-Touch", does this mean it only support "1-point" touch? (Or any number less than 10).Also, does the OLED display support Stylus pens? Thank you in advance!

I posted a similar question earlier and people referred me to the Yoga (much appreciated).  However, I was interested in the 2.6 lb carbon version with touch screen capabilities.  Asus has a Spin 7 model that is very good at 2.65lb, but I miss the red mouse toggle in the middle of the keyboard and Asus's track pad was designed too large....causing unintended tapping.  The Yoga, while nice, is heavier than I was looking for.  The 14 inch screen is about 3.3lb? the 12 inch at 3? I thought that some of the earlier Thinkpad Carbons had touch screen and was hoping they would make a return soon.  Thanks,

Hi, I have the Lenovo X1 Carbon Touch, new as of april 2014, and since last week, the touch screen has stopped responding to touch inputs. Before this it has been working and behaving perfectly. I have tried to turn the laptop entirely off and on, reboots... No effect. The screen simply acts like it never was touch. The HID driver is present and claims to be working. I tried to reinstall it and it does so with no errors or warnings. I also tried to reinstall the monitor and graphics card drivers. The Tablet control panel icon offers a calibrate option but Reset is disabled. The calibrate doesn't help because it doesn't respond to touch. System says it has touch with 10 finger inputs. Windows 8.1 Update 1, Enterprise SKU Any advice is welcome. UPDATE! Touch works when I lay the screen out flat. But if I return it to any angle, it stops working. Is this related to LayFlat mode or is there a connection fault in the display for touch input so only when I lay it flat it has contact? Software or hardware?

Hello. I have a Lenovo Yoga 2 from work and we use it to get customer signiture on a web browser page for the company I work for. however lately. when a customer is trying to sign in the signniture box, it just move the whole screen around in a similar way to moving the screen with your finger. the only way it writes is when you hold the stylus down for a scond or two and then write without lifting it. but every time it leaves the screen then the same problem happens again. I tried to fix it from the touch screen settings but nothing seems to work. and advice on fixing this is greatly appreciated.

Hi there! Need help. Obviously. Hope people still look at this fourm... I have a Lenovo Yoga 3 1470 Laptop. Its...a few years old AND it is out of warrenty (so please no recommendations for sending it into Lenovo Repair Service). It is running the Windows 10 update, though it initally came with Windows 8.1  A few days ago I factory reset the computer to wipe it of all files and such. When the reset was finished it updated and reloaded itself with Windows 10. Everything seemed fine at first... HOWEVER, the touch screen is not responding to anything. I can fold the laptop into tablet mode, the physical keyboard will shut off but it will not respond to touches by any means. The Pen & Touch information in windows settings says that Pen & Touch are not available for this device. I have checked the drivers and the HID-Compliant Driver is NOT THERE (it was at first but it was greyed out and gave me a code 45).  Tent mode also doesn't work. I can flip the computer over, and Auto -Rotate will appear on the screen but the screen never flips. I have searched high and low on Google and Lenovo but perhaps I am missing something, a driver update or ...anything. Help would be great great greatly appreciated. Just to recap:-Lenovo Yoga 3 1470-Fresh Factory Reset-Windows 10 64-bit-Touch Screen Not responding-Tent Mode Screen Not Rotating-HID Touch Screen Driver Missing *EDIT: Just realized I made a similar post like 2 months ago...wow. I am experiencing problems with the touch screen on ThinkPad Yoga 14. Sometimes it recognizes 1 tap as more taps. When typing some letters are pressed more than once or when scrolling through a webpage it randomly zooms (zoom is caused by the falsely recognized double tap gesture). Sometimes it happens more often (several times per minute), sometimes it is working fine. I really have no idea what could be affecting the touch screen responsiveness this way. The notebook was bought in June, it is a version with a GeForce 840M and without a digitizer. The issue was present in Windows 8.1 Pro and is still present in a fresh install of Windows 10 Pro. I have contacted the support on this matter. They replaced the whole LCD. For some time it seemed OK, but now the issue is back. I have been in contact with the technician and he's clueless what could be causing it other than the LCD. Any ideas? It makes the tablet mode almost completely useless.

Answer:ThinkPad Yoga 14 touch screen misbehavior

Hi Knight1 I have a similar machine but I'm not experiencing this problem. I don't know if you did it before but it can be good to start updating your drivers. If you do not have experience with that try using the "System Update" utility from Lenovo. If you do not have it already installed check it here. Update the BIOS, video and recommended driver. Sorry it is not a solution but maybe you can try to see if there if some touchscreen driver can be updated. Regards

I have ben dealing with problems with this touch screen since I got the laptop.  It has been continuously ghosting, while it got better after the June update, it still ghosts without touches, until you start using the touch screen.  When using the touch screen it starts drawing gray lines in between the point im touching and the point its ghosting to (the lines arent always direct). I recently wiped my the drive, reimaged to a backup from april and tried reupdating it.  When I got to the touch screen drivers, I got through the initial setup and told it to open the update when finished but the machine froze.  Now when I try to reinstall, I get to the finish page on the update tools install, have it open the updater, but the program immediately closes.Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi,I suddenly noticed that my touch screen is not working. I have tried to update driver for HID-compliant touch screen (however best driver was alread used). Also tried to disable/enable the device but still no function. I checked the "Events" for the driver and the last event was "Device not migrated" with the following message:"Device HID\VID_056A&PID_504A&Col06\6&2fac5222&0&0005 could not be migrated.Last Device Instance Id: {DEA5AE2A-D1FD-438A-A091-CBD484788436}\Vid_0000&Pid_0000\5&18534b98&0&02Class Guid: {745A17A0-74D3-11D0-B6FE-00A0C90F57DA}Location Path: Migration Rank: 0xF000FFFFFFFFF122Present: trueStatus: 0xC0000719" The pen driver seem to work though. I noticed that outside the visible area on the screen there is a small crack in the glass. Can that cause the touch screen to not function? Regards, Torsten

My touch screen  has not been working for nearly two weeks now. I've tried updating drivers, restarting, and all the Googling I can handle. My "Pen and Touch" and "Tablet PC" options are missing from my control panel (although they've made a reappearance after installing a driver or two, they disappeared again after restarting). In System it tells me that "No Pen or Touch is available for this Display." I'm not even sure which item in the Device Manager is my touch screen, if any. What can I do to fix this??

It boots from the bootable usb and gives the live ubuntu and install ubuntu options but when you enter then it displays a blank screen and nothing happens afterwards. I am facing another issue pretty consistently that the touch screen becomes unresponsive most of the times. When i use the pen it works fine but it does not works with my fingers. Looking forward to some solution as its pretty annoying experiencing such bugs in such an expensive machine. Thanks

I recently discovered a vertical band where the touchscreen is half-dead in a vertical band.  If I draw horizontally quickly over the vertical band, it will draw over.  However, drawing vertically and drawing slowly horizontally over the dead area is not detected.  Refer to the picture where the white space is between the two orange lines.    I'm using my finger (touch input).  The screen is Wacom ready but I don't have a Wacom pen. Any suggestions?

Hello Lenovo Forum, I installed Xubuntu on my Thinkpad Yoga 14 and one day I tried to poke around and click the mouse button during boot time. Then I had the magical on-screen virtual keyboard popping up on the GRUB menu. You can see a photo of the on screen virtual keyboard here: http://imgur.com/p6JUrQr I also give a video showing how to activate the keyboard: Basically, clicking left mouse button (either the one on the trackpoint or an external mouse can work) will bring up the virtual keyboard. You need to touch it quickly, because every time any content on the screen changes (in this video, that is the countdown which refreshes every second) the keyboard will disappear. Touching the a key on the Virtual keyboard is equivalent to pressing the corresponding physical key. In this video I clicked Down Arrow, Up Arrow and Enter and booted Xubuntu. The Keyboard shows only in the GRUB Menu, as far as I have tested. It does not pop up in BIOS even if you click the left mouse button in BIOS. Is there a more detailed description of this Keyboard available? I searched "Thinkpad Yoga 14 virtual keyboard grub" but got no useful results, so the Keyboard looks like a secret, an easter egg or some maintenance mode to me. Personally I think this keyboard will make it very convenient for those who use the Yoga in tent mode / presentation mode / tablet mode and need to reboot across Linux and Windows and have no external USB keyboard and do not want to co... I've lost the use of my keyboard, but not the touch pad. Restarting and converting to table mode and back doesn't correct the issue. Thoughts? I'm not sur where to go from here. Could the keyboard be physically dead?

Answer:Yoga 2 Keyboard not working, but touch pad and touch screen fine

You should test the keyboard in the BIOS menu and see whether it works. 1) Press on the recovery button (next to the power button, you may need a small screwdriver). https://www.flickr.com/photos/lead_org/11617761143/in/set-721576390073780542) Then there is an option menu for entering recovery, bios, etc. https://www.flickr.com/photos/lead_org/14512183979/in/set-72157639007378054Use your keyboard and see whether it works in that option menu. If it doesn't work then it is a faulty keyboard.

For the past several weeks I've experienced a very annoying problem with my ThinkPad.  Whenever the laptop goes to sleep and resumes the touch screen goes... crazy. It starts registering multiple inputs across the touchscreen and the only thing that seems to resolve the issue is a restart. Sometimes, upon restart, the touch screen works normally, other times it does not work at all.  Has anyone else experienced this issue? I've seen this issue described for other Lenovo models with fixes, but none for my model.  Under the hardware ID in device manager, this monitor is a LEN 40A4.  I'm running Windows 10.  This is my third Thinkpad X1 Carbon, not because I love to upgrade, but because these machines seem to only last one year before something major breaks.

Hello Mark,

there seems to be the same type of protective film [as the X1 Carbon Touch screen] on my new ThinkPad Yoga.  It has become rather dirty after just a few days.  Given that it is some special plastics I did not dare to use the usual LCD cleaning fluid.  What is the official cleaning recommendation?

Hi all,I'm not sure if I posted in the correct forum and I'm new to this so bear with me.  So I bought this laptop around 5 months ago and only about 1 month ago the left side of the touch screen is not working. It would register that something is touching the bottom left side because I have my visual feedback turned on and after a half a minute of that, you can see it go haywire and register nearly the entire 1/3 left side. After 30 seconds of it going haywire, it would stop. And then either the entire left side or just the bottom left side would completely not register any touches at all. This wouldn't happen all the time, just every other day and definitely enough to be extremely annoying.  I bought my laptop in to get fixed for a completely unrelated problem because it's still under warranty and I told them about this issue but it doesn't seem like they fixed it and I'm thinking it's because it just didn't happen to happen to them when they had it. Also, I'm not sure if it's a software issue (since I don't think that's covered by warranty) or hardware. I have Windows 10 Pro, 64 bit OS, pen and touch support with 10 points.  Is there anyway that you guys can help me on this? It would be much appreciated.

Hello, My Thinkpad Yoga is connected to a large display through ThenkPad docking station.  Its lid is closed.   During my work, from time to time I see random touch clicks on my screen, and random opening of menus.  It is clear that the touch screen is active although the lid is closed.  When I open the lid, and still connected just to the 2nd display (large screen) display the phenomena stops.  Worth noting is that although only the 2nd display shows an image, the laptop touch screen is still sensetive to touch.  This is I guess why the random touches show up on the screen -- it feels the keyboard not fingers. I expect the touch screen to be disabled while the lid is closed or when projecting only to the 2nd screen.  The solution of opening the lid while connected to the docking station is not acceptable.  Lenovo's local support suggestion to disable touch for the Yoga is also not acceptable -- people purchase Yoga to get Touch.   A solution please! Yaron

if the left hand screen touch is unresponsive, then it is a hardware problem. You would need to send in for service.

This began about six months ago. I picked up my laptop and it was unresponsive and the red logo lights was blinking. I forced shutdown with the power button and restarted it. When it was back on I could get power but no data transfer from any usb ports, the touch screen didn't work, and if i let it sleep it automatically went unresponsive with the same error light. I checked for viruses. None. I updated all possible drivers. Nothing. I even restored my computer to factory settings and reinstalled windows. Nada. I use it heavily for school, so I haven't had time to send it in for warranty. One day, I turned it on and everything worked again. Wonderful. A couple days later I opened it and it was back to its previous state. PLEASE HELP

Hi all, First of all, I know there were already 2 topics regarding this issue, but I have to create this topic because those 2 topics were marked 'Solved' and the solution there were not helping in my case at all. Symtoms:- In the beginning, it worked well even after upgraded to Windows 8.1, after some point, touch screen did not work anymore- There was a time that the touch did not work, I had to open the laptop 360 degrees, then put it back to normal so touch can work, but now it didn't fix the situation anymore- In 'Control Panel\System and Security\System', it shows that "No Pen or Touch Input is available for this Display"- In Device Manager, there is only 1 USB Input Device in Human Interface Devices (Hardware ID is USB\VID_2047&PID_0855)- There is no unidentified or conflicted devices What I have tried:- Install all Lenovo's drivers- Install old Intel Graphic driver- Reinstall windows 8.1- Reinstall windows 8- Disabled and enable all HID and USB devices- I lost the backup partition somehow so I cannot use OneKey Recovery Could anybody help me with this? I really appreciate all your help! I believe that there are many people had the same problem like me and have nowhere to turn to. Hope this can help them as well if it is solved!

Hi, I used to have an issue where the screen keyboard appeared for no reason when it was on laptop mode, but the screen keyboard dissappeard within 5 seconds (sometimes longer). Obviously this would stop my physical keyboard and touch pad for functioning. I then deactivated the automatic screen keyboard function. Then, this happened..Now my keyboard and touchpad stop functioning for no reason, but respond after a few seconds, exactly the same as the issue I had before when the automatic keyboard on the screen function was on! There's even a couple of times that it didn't 'wake up' and I would have to restart the whole thing.. I have replaced my motherboard with Lenovo before (which was because of the not functioning auto brightness, but the changes didn't fix the issue anyway) but this issue remains. Does anyone experience the samething?! This is very annoying especially when I have to stop recording my notes in my lectures! HELP PLEASE!!!

i have searched through the forums and have not found a decent solution for this problem.  When I power on my laptop from off, or wake it from sleep, I will randomly lose functionality to either the Touch Screen, or both the Keyboard and Trackpad, or at other times I will lose functionality to all three.  Other times all three regain functionality and work perfectly fine until the next time it sleeps or powers off.  I see the keyboard and trackpad in Device Manager at all times, even when they don't function, on the other hand, the touch screen with swing in and out of Device Manager, The touch screen works 100% of the time it shows in Device Manager, and fails to function 100% of the time it does not show.   Any Ideas Why?

Hello All - I just noticed that my multi-touch (not enhanced multi-touch) screen no longer responds to finger touch; just pen. It used to respond to both before i upgraded to Windows 7.I tried the Lenovo diagnostic check for the touch screen, and during the test, it only responded to the pen. What should I do? Is there a certain driver i'm missing or need to uninstall and then re-install?Thanks in advance.

Answer:Post Windows 7 Upgrade - Touch Panel Not Responding to Finger Touch (x200t)

Ok...I think i really screwed something up. As per a Lenovo support tech's advice, i installed the Windows 7 "Enhanced" Multi-touch Driver, even though i do not have the enhanced multi-touch screen, and this is what it says on Lenovo's site about this new driver: "*1: ThinkPad X200 Tablet models with the Multitouch are NOT supported." "*1: ThinkPad X200 Tablet models with the ENHANCED Multitouch ARE supported." So, i go ahead and install it. I notice that finger touch now works, but the pen setting are now all screwed up! The eraser no longer responds when i turn the pen around to erase. It actually INKS with the eraser as well! OneNote no longer automatically starts inking (or erasing) when i bring the pen (or eraser) into range. I have to manually click on the pen icon (or the eraser icon) on the tool bar to use these functionalities! *groan* In the Tablet PC Input Panel: no eraser functionality (it inks instead!!) and even the button on the pen (which previously had the right-click ability) only inks when pressed down! I think i made my situation worse...Please Help! Adam

So bit of a curious problem, and also one that I can replicate rather consistently: When going between pen and touchscreen use, there is a period of time during which touches are not registered. In laptop mode this is approximately half a second. In tablet mode it's anywhere between 5 and 15 seconds. Anyone see this issue before? Anyone know any good diagnostic techniques (and please don't just tell me to update the drivers. Theyre all updated.) This has been an issue for nearly half a year now, however I've only recently found real use for the machine in tablet mode, hence why I am taking action now rather than half a year ago.

I know that you can play games like XCOM and Master of Orion II on a touch screen laptop, though I was wondering: can I play something like XCOM, while still using touch to play the game?

Answer:Can a touch screen laptop play non-touch screen games...with touch?

I play World of Warcraft which was definitely not designed for touch screen and can interact with the interface just fine on my yoga.

Hi, I have just upgraded to 8.1 and the only issue I have so far is the not working multi-touch gestures function. No more scrolling with two fingers, no more pinching to zoom in and out from the photos, NO MORE FUN  Also the touch keyboard has been very annoying.. It has been popping up all the time when i am using the computer in 90 degree position. Happened since before the upgrade though. Does anyone have an idea? (I don't want to disable it, I use it sometimes!) My poor Yoga, can someone please help :'( Thanks in advance!

Ok, so I got my Yoga 2 Pro 5 days ago. It was been working great until today. I turned it on and I noticed that the on screen volume indicator was active and at 100%. I pushed and held the volume down button and the indicator went down but as soon as I let it go, it goes all the way back up to 100% volume as if a ghost is making it happen. The volume indicator will not disappear. So I thought that maybe I did something wrong. I restarted the computer and nothing changed. Here is what else I've noticed: Volume indicator stays on all the time and will not disappearOn screen touch keyboard is inoperable, comes up but goes down immediately.Touchpad is unresponsive and swipe gestures don't work on the touchpad. The on screen start button (on the windows taskbar) doesn't work. Is not clickable. When I open apps, they open minimized and start blinking orange on the taskbar. In my office documents, when I right click, menu immediately disappearsI uninstalled and reinstalled the audio and touchpad drivers. Didn't work. It seems that something is either being depressed or is hungup or conflicting. I can't figure out what it is. I haven't tried much else, so I don't know if other features aren't working.  This is driving me crazy. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Since there is no way to see the X1 Yoga in person and try it out before buying I'm a bit concerned about how it handles the usage of active pen in combination with touchscreen functions. Does it block out any touch input while the stylus in near the display surface? This would be less than desirable since a lot of graphics software and on-screen keyboard shortcut apps require simultaneous use of both.

I have an XPS 13 with a touch monitor.  My wife liked it so much I bought her one.  Her sister liked it also and we bought her one.  Occasionally at boot up (1 in 10 times) the touch monitor won't respond to 'touches.'  Pressing any key (or the mouse pad) brings me to the password screen and I 'Restart' the computer and the touch screen function works.  This happens on all three computers.  I've never seen this problem posted but I find it hard to believe we three are the only one's having this issue.

It is a Lenovo Yoga S1 12.5 inch. The touch screen works fine in laptop mode, but as soon as I push the screen back to about 110 degrees, it turns into tablet mode and the touchscreen is disabled I need to be able to use the touchscreen while it's in tablet mode.

Answer:Thinkpad Yoga S1 - touch input does not work in tablet mode

Hi dudeguy Can you post your full Thinkpad Model number and the Windows version you are using? I don't have an S1, but touch screen is always working, no matter if it is on tablet mode, tent mode , or laptop mode..maybe the touchscreen should only be disabled when the lid is closed or the screen is turned off. It is very strange that it get disabled when you turn it to tablet mode. Just some "trial and error".- Check Windows Update and try to put any drivers up-to-date.- Try updating the drivers with Lenovo System Update- If you are using Windows 10 try install Lenovo Settings and Lenovo Companion from the Windows Store. I was trying to find something in Windows settings "Pen and Touch" that can disabled the Touch-screen in that way, but I haven't found anything. Regards

Today my digitizer stopped working for the first time since I purchased my Thinkpad Yoga several years ago. Touch screen still works as normal. I don't think it's software related because I dual boot Windows and Ubuntu and it doesn't work in either operating system. Before it would work in both operating systems, and I haven't had any updates since it was last working. Is it possible for the digitizer itself to be broken somehow? I haven't dropped the device or spilled any liquid on it. I've read elsewhere on the forum that the digitizer is powered by a capacitor that is charged within the laptop. Is this still true for Thinkpad Yogas? Are there steps I can take to diagnose the issue?

I recently bought a 2nd hand ThinkPad x250 with pretty low specs. I want to investigate the possibility to upgrade the screen from the IPS Non-Touch HD to a FHD touchscreen. At many places I read it is not possible because 'the motherboard is different', but I cannot find any motherboard with or without touch support. I suspect that it's not the motherboard itself not supporting the digitizer, but some other part that needs to be replaced or added to the system. Is it an option to buy a working complete X240 with touchscreen and swap components to move the touchscreen to the X250? I don't want to swap the motherboard itself because then I basically end up with a X240 in a X250 housing with only 8GB Ram support, and I want to upgrade to 16GB.

My phone fell, and when it turned back on the touchscreen wasnt responding. Theres a little crack on the bottom left. It gives me the 'battery is critically low' warning, and lets me tap the 'ok' button. But then it goes back to not responding. Its like only the top half of the screen works, but thats only sometimes. Could it still be fixed? What can i do? I already turned the phone on then off, i already took out the battery, and reset my phone for no reason because it was no help.

Answer:Why isn't my touch screen responding?

Unfortunately, it sounds like you may have a busted digitizer. A digitizer is the piece of hardware that allows the screen to receive and respond to your finger touching your phone.
Sometimes parts of the screen work while others do not. I'd recommend doing a Bing search on replacing the digitizer in your specific phone. If it's under some sort of warranty, that may be an option as well.
Best of luck!

I have a new Thinkpad yoga (but I had a similar problem with Yoga 2 Pro I had to return) - whenever I touch the screen to start typing (in the browser, word document, almost everywhere), the touch keyboard pops up and I have to manually close it.
This is extermemly annoying and sometimes leads to typos and stuff.

I looked into other threads which indicated I can tackle this problem through Lenovo Transitions, but that option does not exist on my control panel.

This seems like something that ought to have a simple solution but I can't find it.
Any thoughts?

I recently did a Windows 10 update to my Lenovo Yoge Ideapad  11 S on July 16th and now my touch screen does not work. When I check the drivers for my monitor and touch screen I noticed the driver was missing. I cannot get Lenovo or Microsoft to fix this. What else can I do to get that driver back ?

Answer:Lenovo Yoga Idea Pad Yoga 11 S touch screen issue

Hello Dws520Thanks for using the Lenovo forums. Was this the creators update?
If so, have a look on the following post, this should show if your device has been tested with the update yet:

From what I can see, your unit does not seems to have made the list, which leads me to believe that this will be the cause of the issue, I would recommend that you revert back to the previous version of Windows, and observe if the fault still occurs or not.

Hope this helps, let us know how you get on.==================================================================================Did someone help you today? Thank them with a Kudo! If you find a post helpful and it answers your question, please mark it as an "Accepted Solution"!

Hello,I got this laptop about 3 months ago and the touch screen was responding perfectly however it stopped responding and hasn't worked for 2 weeks.  I've updated it whenever it needed to be updated so I went to the Microsoft website and tried to find the problem. I've tried turning it off, cleaning the screen, and some other things. Before I came here I looked at the pen and touch setting and it said 'no pen or touch input available for this display.' Why does it say that? I've looked around but I couldn't find a solution. Please help.Thank you, Rahel M.

I have an Ideapad P500 Touch  It came with windows 8 and I upgraded to 8.1 a couple months ago..( there were issues with that but I thought I fixed them at the time) Set up:At work, I attach a 22 inch screen and use that and the laptop screen at the same time. I also use an optical mouse connected to USB.Now, when I turn on my machine, I usually put the web on my 22 inch screen. While putting email and other Office programs on the laptop screen.Problems as follows: 1. Cursor wants to jump:When I try to type or scroll on the big screen my cursor jumps. The pointer is still on the big screen but the cursor action is suddenly on the laptop screen. When this happens there is a lot of flashing of the laptop screen and the bubbles pop up.. (I don't know what the bubbles are; I 'm assuming it the computer telling me it's thinking) This is very troublesome when trying to type. Sometimes it just instantly jumps on the first letter I type sometimes I can get a word typed in. ( Good Times..) Strangely I have not had one problem typing this out!!!? 2. Touch screen is very intermittent:Sometimes it works... Sometimes not..Sometimes it will all calm down and everything is fine with the touchscreen... Other times it gets very intermittent and just freaks out. Other info:Seems to be always glitchy in the first 10 minutes of startup(Touchscreen) Touch screen can work fine for a while at times. Then all of the sudden .... If your touch screen is not responding to your touch, try this:try looking at Device Manager,  if there's a yellow-flagged item and/or no driver for touch screen under HID (human interface device)  then you have to add it. click on the yellow flag item, tell it to update driver from list from your computer,   go to Generic drivers, not the Acer ones, choose the one that's called HID touch screen,  update it,  restart, and there you go.check another post here on this forum,  from scotsman.  he gives the steps maybe a little better than I do..Acer tech supoort were useless, as usual,  and told me I had to do a Restore.  They are worse than useless, actually, since they waste tons of your time and then all they can tell you is to do a complete restore. When will Acer ever get decent tech support people? When you look at Amazon reviews, for example, under my particular laptop,  you find over a hundred reviews,  large percent being rather negative,  but you'll notice that it's mostly over bad experiences with Acer tech support.   and this is for a thousand dollar machine !!I personally believe that Acer makes good hardware but what's holding them back is their tech support:  it's horrible !!!

Hello all,  I have come across a very strange issue and searching on this forum and Google have not shown something fully similiar. This past weekend I did the update to Windows 8.1 from Win 8 and now the touch screen on my W510 stops responding anywhere from 20-60 seconds after login. I have checked the driver and it is currently using the Wacom Gesture Touch Properties v.7.0.1.0 from 12/2010, Microsoft HID-compliant vendor-defined device from 6/2006 and Microsoft HID-compliant touch screen driver from 6/2006. Windows states these are the latest drivers and that all is working properly.  I have attempted to identify if there are any startup conflicts without success. The touchscreen is fine and then all of a sudden there is no response. No problems at all with with Windows 8. This seems to me to be a software conflict or firmware problem as there is functionality when I first start the machine. Any ideas would be apprecicated.  System info: W510 4318CTO Intel Core i7 Q 720 @1.60GHz8GB RAMnVidia Quadro FX 880M15.6-inch (396mm) FHD (1920x1080) color, anti-glare, LED backlight, MultiTouch (touchscreen supports two-finger touch)Windows 8.1 Thank you.

Well I was hoping for some suggestions. Still working on this myself. I have found that if I go into services.msc and restart the Human Interface Device Service, then the touch screen will start working again for a about a minute. As long as I'm working with it, everything is good. If I let it sit for some time, ~20 sec, then it's no longer working. The startup type for this service is Automatic (Trigger Start). Maybe things are not being triggered.Or this is a red herring...

I just encountered this problem, it seems like an issue with the touch screen driver. hey MRX,regarding this, really hard to say what could be the cause.curious to know, the external monitor which you are using, did it by any chance some with its own drivers ? also have you tried reversing and placing the external monitor as the primary ? does it make any difference?

Hi I bought a Acer ICONIA 6120 Dual Touch Screen Laptop in 2011 when I was in US. I returned to India in 2011. In 2014 the bottom touch screen virtual key board started mal-functioning. The keys will automatically click making it unable to use. I gave it to a local technician he disabled the bottom touch screen. He also said the Hard Drive is corrupted needs replacement. He replaced with a new 500GB hard drive. While replacing it he changed the Windows 7 home premium to Windows 7 ultimate. From then on we were using it with a wireless key board. Now I am trying to repair the laptop. 1) Where can get 14" bottom touch screen so that I can buy and install 2) Where can get the recovery disks along with windows 7 home premium Thanks in advance for your help

Answer:Acer ICONIA 6120 Dual Touch Screen - Bottom Touch ...

I suggest that you first try to recover the laptop to factory-fresh Win7 home premium by purchasing the Iconia 6120 recovery media. This may help resolve the bottom screen issue. If you aren't in the US, please click on support at the top of this page. Choose the country. Then click "get support". And then choose contact acer for tablets. You should then get phone numbers or email addresses for Acer representatives who might help arrange for you to get this media.  Jack E/NJ

My Ideapad P400 Touch with Windows 8 is no longer responding to right side swipe (charms bar gesture).  All other touch screen functions and gestures still work normally, including the left side swipe to switch apps.  The screen still displays the 'touch feedback' dots when I attempt the gesture but no charms bar appears! I've tried recalibrating as well as removing calibration of touch screen, and tried various other troubleshooting procedures I found on this site, like uninstalling recent updates, etc... Finally I tried running Windows 8 PC refresh, which worked as it's supposed to so I got to reinstall all my software but didn't fix the missing charms bar! Has anyone had a similar problem with the touch screen right-side swipe and been able to fix it?  Any help would be greatly appreciated!   Thanks!cait

I have ThinkPad X230 Tablet. It used to have non-functioning touch screen. I did something, and now the screen responds to pen input, but it doesn't work properly for finger touch. When I touch with finger, only thing it does is minimize or maximize window. When I change position of taskbar (with start menu and icons), it doesn't maximize/minimize.  I think this means that when I touch with finger, cursor clicks at bottom right corner of display, where there is button for maximize/minimize window

Drivers all show working properly. Not intermittent. Tried settings and no help. No response when touching screen at all. Can't calibrate. Bios has no update available. Nothing in manual under troubleshooting. Any quick fix suggestions have likely been tried, but open to all ideas. If all else fails, and assuming the digitizer is bad, what does repair entail and any rough estimate? Is there any recall? I see this issue on the forum a lot with not many folks getting it resolved.TIA!!

Answer:U310 IdeaPad Touch :The Touch Screen Stopped Working. No Previous Posts Have Helped.

hi c2nah777,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

Have you tried booting the system in Recovery Mode (One Key Recovery), You're not going to Recover the system since your only going to check the touchscreen in that mode "Outside Windows"

See if the touhcscreen works there,
If Yes, I would suggest doing a factory Reset First Before jumping into a hardware Repair.
If No, Then I think you're correct with the digitizer.

After turning on my 910 and useing the touch screen for awhile it usually always stops working on me. Say I want to pause a YouTube video or click an Internet link, when I touch the screen it only registers that touch as the right click of the mouse. Hopefully that makes sense, when I try to touch what I want on the screen it brings up the right click options menu.  When I restart my computer it stops this problem but it eventually comes back again.

Hello! I bought a Yoga 2 11 this past week. Being a computer geek, I decided to do a clean install of windows on it immediately after setting it up. The install went fine, except the touch screen doesn't work anymore. I looked on Lenovo's website for drivers but found nothing. How can I fix this? Thanks!

I have the ThinkPad Yoga 15 and I just recently had to have the motherboard replaced. After it was replaced, my touch screen no longer works. What do I have to do to fix it?

Answer:Yoga 15 touch screen not working

Good day and welcome to the community.

Assuming that the system board replacement was done by Lenovo Support, I'd recommend that you contact them to discuss what might need to be done to resolve the issue. If the system board replacement was done by a third-party provider, I'd recommend contacting that provider.

The cursor sits in the bottom right hand corner of the screen just above the task bar and will return to that position instantly when moved by the mouse. It will not allow any typing of opening of aps. It lasts for a couple of minutes then all  works properly for a while. I disabled the touch screen and the problem disappeared, enabled it and the problem returned. Is there a driver update or a fix for this issue. Thanks

Answer:Yoga 900 Touch screen fault

Welcome to the community.

I'm sorry to say it, but this sounds more like a hardware problem with the touchscreen rather than a software issue with the driver. And there have been no updates of that driver that I am aware of.

I suggest that you send the Yoga to a service center, and get it checked out. I assume that it will still be under warranty, so it will just cost time rather than money. Make sure that you have backups of your data before sending. Service centers have a habit of reimaging machines back to the factory installation.

I read this on another forum while after selecting a link on this forum. It seems to have gotten rid of the edge double swipe. "I got a Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga this weekend (loving it!) but noticed an annoying quirk ? the different Windows 8 edge swipe actions seemed to require two swipes. A few reviews have run into this as well, such as this one from ZDNet.Once you got it reacting to your swipes, though, everything was instantaneous. After experimentation, it turns out that not touching the screen for about 4 seconds was enough to put it into this double-swipe mode ? which is evidence of some sort of sleep mode.It turns out that this doesn?t just cause edge swipes to go missing ? it causes a general feel of sluggishness and lack of reaction. You click a button, and it doesn?t register. You click again, and it finally does. After a bunch of digging and unrelated searches, it turns out that it is indeed a sleep mode issue ? the driver for the touch screen has the option enabled to let Windows put it to sleep. The solution is simple:Open Device ManagerGo to "Human Interface Devices"Go to the last USB Input Device (my Yoga has two), then "Properties"Open "Power Management"Unselect "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power"."

Answer:Yoga Touch Screen Response Fix

I also got a solution about it:1. Enter BIOS, switch to 2nd page, disable DPTF, save and exit2. Enter Power Option in Control Panel-->Advanced Setting-->USB Setting-->USB Selective.....Setting-->DisabledPlease all try this solution and update your status, thanks in advance!

I have started using the touchscreen on this new Yoga 700 and I liked it at first, but I noticed that while scrolling, pages often open by accident...and it happens often. It ruins the experience.   How do I make it less sensitive? Should only open when i push , not swipe. I want to roll through the page and only select and open things i want to be opened.  Also, is there a way to not show the pointer finger icon? I dont really want to see that.

It's weird that in the page, it is too sensitive, but when i switch tabs up top, i have to push harder to activate that and sometimes it doesnt work on first tap. Must need to change settings or something. Where do i go to tweak those settings?

Answer:Yoga 700 - Touch screen - a bit too sensitive

Hi GM,

Welcome to Lenovo Forums.

We are really sorry to hear about the issue you are facing.
You can adjust the touchpad sensitivity using the following steps:

Press Windows Key + X
Select Control Panel
Click View by, then select Small icons
Select Mouse, then click the furthest tab on the right (should be labelled Elan or Device Settings)
You should have an option to adjust sensitivity in this menu.

I hope this information is helpful.

Regards,
Shashi Kumar

Hi, My screen suddenly stopped working as touch screen (it works in normal mode with the screen and the touchpad). The first times I restarted the computer several times until it worked, also to connect to the network seemed to help; however this time didn't do the trick. I used Lenovo Solution Center, and it didn't show any problem. I checked and updated the drivers in the Lenovo Yoga Mode Control and it seems I'm up-to-date. Now it doesn't want to change to tablet mode automatically anymore, neither to switch the screen to portrait. Thanks in advance for the help.

It's like someone is touching my screen over and over but no one is. It's spazzing out. Zooming in and out continously, opening and closing tabs. It's been happening for a few hours and I tried resrating it sevreal times. It's starting to get really troublesome. Not the first time I've had problems with the touch screen. Any advice on what to do?

Answer:yoga 13 touch screen going crazy!

I have exactly the same problem. Symptons include... (whith my hands behind my back, and the screen either partially open or folded completely back) I can see the mark/icon/image of a finger-on-screen click, clicking frantically near the center of the screen. andThe homescreen changes zoom, as if I am using finger gestures to zoom in or out.andWhat appears to be an attempted at a finger swipe up from below the screen, but not succedding. Restart will sometimes temporarily resolve the problem (although less and less often). All drivers are updated. Screen is very clean.  Hopeful for a suggestion of a genuine fix or even a hack - just to let me use my new toy!!!

Hello people! Shortly what has happened and what has been done. Machine arrived, not our companys common brand. Anyway, Well first action was to install windows 10(1607) from USB stick. Win 10 Enterprise clean. And plan was after that update the drivers. Yes and all partitions were cleaned during the installation. So no going back with those.  After installing everyhing. Touch screen is not working. I went trough the one topic that is located here on the page. Found the wacom firmware update package and updated all that was inside the package. Did use lenovo system update tool for updating everything imaginable there was. Also bios was update. At one point when I did the wacom firmware updates the PEN actually worked. But at that time the touch with finger didn't work. Well at that point I did continue updating and removing of devices/drivers and reinstalling. Well in the end I was again on the same situation that nothing on the "touch" screen works. Has anyone else had these experiences? I have started thinking that maybe there is actually some real malfunction on the touch screen.Last thing I have done is I tried to install the first release of windows 10 from usb. This came to state where it asks for country localization information and when I continue from there it just reboots and takes my back to that screen. So I'm in loop with that. I also strated to think about ordering the recovery media for the machine...but it would take time to ... Read more

I've looked through previous topics and there don't seem to be any from the past few months on this topic. In short, the touch screen is completely unresponsive. I've checked the device and it is enabled. Any thoughts on how to troubleshoot this? I've had the laptop for three days, and this the first time I've tried to use it, if that matters.

Hi, I have recently (Dec 2015) purchased a Yoga 11e. The touch screen function has stopped working. Both Windows 10 and Lenovo Support apps say that all updates are in place. I suspect that a Windows update (~31 Jan 2016) might be the fault - could be wrong. Any ideas? Thanks. ps: I tad annoying the the "worlds biggest computer company" (or similar publicity claim) does not have a 24/7 web chat support function

Answer:Yoga 11e Touch Screen not working

I had the same problem.  After performing a clean-install of Windows 10 Pro (Did not like all that blotware that Lenovo puts in these systems) and "thinking" that I had installed all drivers, I found that touchscreen did not work.  I solved it by RE-installing the i2c drivers (downloaded from Yoga 11e support page).  It was confusing because there was nothing in Device Manager that indicated any drivers were missing, plus when I ran the .exe file for the i2c drivers all it did was "extract" the files, but it did not install anything! So here is how I went about it:  Opened device manager, clicked on "system devices" to locate the i2c device.  I looked for anything with "i2c" in it, and saw 2 entries: "Intel Atom Celeron Pentium Processor............i2c........[etc, etc]".  I went ahead and manually installed the drivers: right-clicked the item, clidked "update driver software", clidked "browse my computer for driver software", and navigated to where the driver files had been extracted to-as explained above.  After the drivers were installed successfully, the names of the devices changed to "i2c controller".  Rebooted the computer and VOILA! The touch screen worked again! Opened "control panel", "system" and there it said: "Touch Support With 10 Touch Points"

I've had no problems with my yoga 2 pro for over a month, but last night I decided to do windows updates.  This is the model with the i7, and 8gb of ram.  I let it update and then restarted it.  After it started up, I tried to swipe the cover screen up, but nothing was happening.  I then decided to use the mouse, and soon realized that the touch screen was unresponsive.  I've tried to restore the computer to before the updates, but it hasn't fixed the problem.  I can still switch to tablet and stand mode, etc. and the screen will rotate, but I can not get the touch screen to respond to anything.  I tried to install some drivers, but none of them are for the touch screen as far as I know, and nothing else seems to work.  Does anyone know a fix, or maybe know of a driver I need to install?

Hi, Since installing Windows 10, I am unable to use any functions of the touch screen.  I had a lot of trouble with the mouse pad not deactivating with the button (as I use a plug in mouse most of the time) but I managed to sort that by uninstalling the driver and reinstalling direct from Lenovo. However, the touch screen is making me come to my wits end.  I just cannot for the life of me sort it.  Windows tell me that "No Pen or Touch Input is available for this display" Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
