How can I have real support from lenovo? Laptop wont boot and international support doesnt help me

Question: How can I have real support from lenovo? Laptop wont boot and international support doesnt help me

I bought TPS230U in may2013, and one monthe ago, the laptop just turned off by itself and wont turn on anymore. I had tried troubleshoop refresh and resetting options but it doesnt work.
My warranty certificate is still valid for itnernational support (now I live in Brazil), so that, I called Brazil´s support (My laptop ID is: Type 3347 2GU S/N xxxxxxx 13/02.
At the first time I contacted by phone, the attendant asked me to (once again) turn off the laptop and call back again. Well, I did it, adn (of course) it didnt work. So I called once again. The second the new clerk said I should buy a cd or dvd ( which could not be via USB stick ) , download from other computer and copy an image file that lenovo would understand the problem . I explained that I had not cd to record that moment. But he was very rude, and told me that it the support goes to my house and concludes that there is a software problem and not hardwa, I was supposed to pay for the visit. So, I went to a store and bought a recordable CD , recorded the ISO file and got home to insert it into the laptop and....for my surprise, my laptop doenst have any entry for CD ! I feel that lenovo has been really disrespectfull with me and all I want is to have a simple support to my laptop, but I still couldnt have. Pleaase let me know how can I solve this problem before my waranty term expires!!!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi, first i live In Israel and i've called the main support line and they told me they dont deal with my laptop and directed me to the ones who do > their phone is offline all day (when they should be *working* between 9 am to 5 pm). I've called them before a few years ago and they gave me much help.  Hopefully some one in charge can give me a working phone number for support.  I have a lenovo g530 laptop, its overall nice and i got it as a gift few years ago. Its been bugging me for a long time tho.  My questions that i've been thinking of for years:  -I've downloaded the BIOS drivers from the driver page and after installing them on all: windows xp, windows vista, windows 7 they caused a BSOD (blue screen of death) and i had to re-format my computer and re-install windows. So my question how exactly can i install the BIOS without crashing my system? My Bios have been at 1.0 for a long time..  Second, you might just say 'no' you cant right away but...  -This laptop runs on an imbeded 'chip' thats supposed to function as an internal video card, i've noticed some G530 laptops have Nvidia geforce 9300m on their Laptop, is it possible to install it on mine? (buying the video card and adding it in?), if not.. Is there a video card on this planet i can install on my laptop?... Am sure people ask this all the time because Mobile intel 4 express chipset is absoloute garbage and if i knew i was getting this laptop i would of n... Read more

if you called them today, due to it's sunday, it's normal that they don't answer.about upgrade, if you have the mxm solution, it could be possible.about bios, you should've reseted the bios after flashing. it also could be compatible issuee, i'm not sure ( you may need to upgrade drivers, too )

Does lenovo has a plan to support  intel ac 7260 for yoga 2 13? I have read this thread.https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-Edge-Yoga-Flex-Laptops/Yoga-2-13-Wireless-Card-Unauthorized-Mess...Current bios(v1.15) is still not support. And Where is old bios version link about V1.09?It seems can support Lenovo-branded  ac 7260 netcard.

So I am sitting here on my MacBook Pro which in my opinion does not have any wireless issues whatsoever, it works. I still own this ThinkPad with a garbage wireless card, and I feasted my eyes on an Intel 7260 but lo and behold, it isn't on the whitelist! Scouring eBay and Amazon I did find a FRU, but would the number of that FRU be the same on the Hardware list? Lets see, well I cannot even find it. All I get are Page Not Found errors which to me is a hilarious joke of Lenovo's support. What does this mean for me? Is my X230 at a very very unnecessary end of life? Should I like, fork out £1400 for an "upgraded" model that probably won't fix most of my problems? My problems is money and saving money. Should i now look elsewhere? No, because I'd rather keep my money to actually FIX my current laptop's problems (the N2200 is a garbage card and would like to replace it with something that's up to date to todays technology but that isn't happening by the sounds of it) I am frustrated with my current laptop's problems and it's having a large effect on my studies. And possibly you can also lose customers by inadequate non-existent support and failure to give us the freedom to actually let us upgrade for those who do. For those who don't, more like.

Microsoft said this week that Internet Explorer 7 will finally provide support for international domain names (IDN), detailing a number of security measures it will put into place to prevent phishing and spoofing attacks. Firefox, Opera and Safari implemented similar protections earlier this year.

The problem with IDN stems from its use of the Unicode character set to enable domain names that include international letters. Unicode URLs must be converted by a Web browser into a format called "Punycode," which opens the door for a malicious Web site to mimic a trusted URL, including its SSL security certificate.

Opera was the first to tackle the problem in February, adding a yellow security bar to show the name of the organization that owns the SSL certificate and only displaying IDN URLs for certain top-level domains certified by the company.

Apple followed suit with an update to Safari in March, making the browser display URLs with non-approved characters in their native Punycode form. Firefox initially removed support for IDN altogether, then added the feature for certain top-level domains with anti-spoofing policies.

Instead of white-listing specific domains, Microsoft has taken a different approach with IE7. The browser will detect what language scripts are being used in the URL and if it contains characters outside the chosen languages, IE7 will display the domain name in Punycode form.

The idea is to prevent a mixture of characters that could l... Read more

Would like to share the situation i am facing and check if any forumers can advise what to do.

One of the company staff purchased T440S from US in Jan 2014.  The warranty purchased was 4YR Onsite + Accidental Damage +Tech Install CRU so as to get international warranty in case he needed the support in Singapore.

Back in April, the Left Arrow key popped off (see picture).   We contacted the tech support and was informed that such case was covered under accidental warranty in the US but not in Singapore.   I was quite dissapointed how my case was being handled by the support team.  Despite of several escalations for the past 2 months, my request for free replacement was rejected repeatedly.   I provided them with all the pictures of the keyboard and 2 reasonings below:
1.  Before purchasing, the user checked (via http://support.lenovo.com/en_SG/product-service/iws.page) that the product was covered by International Warranty.  I do not understand the rationale why the addidental damage warranty is not covered internationally.
2.  The problem arises not because of mishandling. Why should it be categorized under accidental damage?  Shouldnt this be part of the standard warranty?

I am not sure if anyone from Lenovo in this forum can assist to escalate to the right person internally.

Answer:T440S key popped off (International Support)

Is it only a popped off key or are the clips damaged as well? If they are undamaged then simply pressing the key back in should fix it.Alternatively you can just buy a new keyboard and install it yourself for a reasonable price: http://www.ebay.com.sg/itm/New-Original-Backlit-US-Keyboard-For-Lenovo-Thinkpad-T440-T440P-T440S-04X...If only the key cap is damaged then it might be sufficient to simply buy that part buy itself. I everyone!! thank you so much for having me on this forum. I usually do everything possible before asking for help and this problem Im really out of ideas( I have a compaq presario f700 laptop that im trying to do a clean install in. It initially had vista but i decided to put win 7 over it through my usb portable drive (inside vista). It installed but I think it would be best to do a clean install cause vista hade soo much crap and info that i suspect is making win 7 slow.. and there is where I ran into problems.....

The dvd drive inside the laptop doesnt work at all and the usb portable drive only works inside the os but cant boot through bios. The bios doesnt give me an option to boot the dvd drive and make the clean install. The bios only has options like , "usb floppy" usb hardrive", usb diskette" but no "usb rom" option" and yes, I have tried every combination possible with no luck. The usb drive only works inside of windows so i have no idea why I can't boot with it.

I have read many hours on this issue but the main consensus i find is that my laptop just doesnt have that option to boot my usb drive. If this is the case, how am i gonna do a clean install aside from buying a new dvd drive for the laptop(which may not work) please any ideas would be greatly appreciated

The laptop has 3gb of ram and a turion 64x2 so it shouldn't be taking me a minute to startup after installing a fresh win 7(through vista). This is why I want to d... Read more

Answer:Can't install 7os. DVD drive wont work, bios doesnt support usb drive.

Are you under the impression you can't clean install over an old installation by running a Custom install from the old OS which will overwrite C? This is pretty close to a clean install in the sense it isn't an inferior Upgrade install which carries over Vista programs and settings.

However I'd first try to boot the installer. After writing the ISO to stick using a reliable app like UltraISO Software To Create Bootable USB Flash Drive did you expand the USB Hard Drive choices to see if the stick is listed there as it often is? Did you try setting the HDD as first boot device in BIOS setup and then use the ESC key to display a boot menu, look for flash stick there, or expand USB HD choice there to see if USB is under that?

Did you try booting the USB DVD drive using the ESC menu, even trying the USB diskette choice to see if it will work?

If none of these work even after verifying the stick will boot successfully in another PC, then I would run the installer from the OS you have on there now, choosing C partition to do a Custom install. Afterwards your old OS will be stuffed in a C:\windows.old folder which you can save long enough to make sure you have everything then delete using Disk Cleanup.

I paid for 3 years of support and accidental damage in home support. Together, it cost around $400 on my new XPS laptop. Afew months after I bought XPS 15 9560, I pulled out the charging cord, and a round piece of plastic that was inside the port came out too.
I called technical support at 5 pm EST, and received someone in Southern India. I gave them my information, and they confirmed that I had service. They then fought with me for 15 minutes, telling me I could NOT have any in home service. The representative, who kept calling me by my first name (no respect)  said I had to send my laptop to a depot in Texas for them to identify the issue. Finally, after I insisted, the representative, S. Sirya Kiran, FINALLY allowed me to get in home support IF I sent him photos of the damage. I did. Finally, I received an email telling me to select a date for service, which I did, 12/18/17 between 9 am and 1:00 pm .
I took time off and waited. No one came by 11:30, or called. So I contacted World Wide Tech Services. They then told me they didn't have enough techs to handle my area, so they were NOT coming. I asked why no one gave me the courtesy of a phone call and they had no answer. They said a new company, Unisys, would contact me. (I doubt they ever will.)
Is this what Dell gives people for their money as far as support and accidental damage in home service for $400? This is an outrage.

Hi

Got a Biostar Tseries 945P Chipset here. Apaprently Core2 is only supported after the bios has been flashed. Question, will the pc boot when I use a unsupported cpu, or will I have to use a supported cpu, flash and then put the new one in?

I put a e2140 in the pc and it's not booting.... So I am hoping its just the flash requirement, and not a busted mobo.

Thanks

Hi,     I have T500  2081-CTO laptop that was originally designed for Vista Business 32 bit, but had Windows XP 32 bit instead.     I would like to know if Lenovo has a tool or website that would tell me if my machine can support Windows 7 Professional 64 bit?   It would be nice if the site or tool would also help you do the upgrade. There is a Microsoft application that runs checks, but i was thinking that one created by Lenovo would be better. Extra info on my machine :System Type =  x86- based PCProcessor =  x86 Family 6 model 23  stepping 10  Intel ~2793 Mhz                         Intel Core 2  Duo CPU   T9600  @  2.8 GHzThanks, Jeff

Answer:Does Lenovo have tool that will tell you if your laptop can support an OS (Like Win 7 Pro 64 bit) ?

Hello and welcome,

I don't know of such a tool.  I can tell you that my T400 ran WIndows 7 Pro 64 quite nicely.  ThinkVantage System Update can be installed and used to pull down the appropriate Lenovo drivers and apps.

If you take a look at the download page(s) for your machine you'll see a full complement of drivers for Win 7:

Hiya,Major desperation setting in, can anyone help?I put my W700 on standby a short while ago, but it locked halfway through the sequence and wouldn't wake up again or shut down. So I had to shut it down by pressing the power button. Now it won't work. It tells me it can't find the operating system. And Lenovo support close at 5.30...I tried calling Lenovo in the USA, since they have a round-the-clock service - but they won't talk to me because I'm not in the USA. The guy there told me to take it off AC power for "a while" (already done that) or to remove the battery for five minutes (doing that now). But I'm not hopeful that will help. Does anyone have any ideas? It's running 64-bit Vista. Or at least, it was.Any assistance will be gratefully received. In fact, beer vouchers will be forthcoming if anyone can fix it.I'm trying hard not to sound too desperate, but I'm having a panic now!!

Answer:W700 won't boot, Lenovo support closed - can anyone help? Please??

Sgirl, welcome to the forum,

sorry to hear about your difficulties can you give members some more information; it would be helpful if you could post the Type and Model Number. If it ends in CTO please provide some details about it. Please do NOT post your s/n.

Please also try the following; remove battery, remove power cable and then press the start button 10 times holding it pressed each time for 10 seconds. Attach power cord, not the battery, and see if it shows signs of life.

Is the system configured with raid 0 or 1, or not at all?  Could you try removing and reinserting the hard drive(s) to ensure a proper contact? (see pdf p.99 of the Hardware Maintainance Manual). Power cord and battery should be removed whilst doing this.

So I was considering buying a Lenovo Z710 Laptop which you can see the specs here at http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/lenovo/z-series/z710/?sb=:000001C9:00013EDA: I noticed that it has an SSHD drive which I don't like. I jumped to the online chat and asked an assistance to see if there is an option to exchange SSHD with an SSD drive bu he said this laptop does not support SSD and does not have an mSATA port.  Does this laptop not really support SSD? I mean, am I able to replace it onmy own? My 4-year old laptop supports 2.5" SSD drives why not a brand new laptop?

Answer:SSD support for Lenovo Z710 Laptop - (59421370)

Hello and welcome,

I don't have personal experience with this laptop.  From the PSREF page and Hardware Maintenance Manual it looks like it takes a 7 or 9.5mm HDD and doesn't have an mSATA or M.2 SSD slot.

When you ask support or sales what devices are "supported" you  will usually get an answer that includes parts that Lenovo provides and has tested with, not what a customer could install.

I'd expect that you could swap in a 7mm SSD, but I'd rather we'd hear from another member who has actually done it.  In the meantime you might find the base specs and Hmm useful:

I have an HP Pavilion ZD7000 laptop. I recently upgraded the bios to the last version available for this particular model (F.34), hoping that in doing this I would get the ability to boot from a USB thumb added to my boot options. Well... no luck.

This laptop is probably between 3 and 4 years old I think. And I'm quite frankly shocked that this simple feature wasn't integrated into their bios.

So what I'm kind of trying to figure out is if this something that persists on any new HP models today, and also perhaps find a point in time which they started to make it a standard feature. Your feedback would be much appreciated.

I have a Y530 ideapad.  Those details are printed right on the surface of my laptop.  I'm trying to get to drivers and downloads, and Lenovo apparently has things all buttoned up to prevent me from doing so, which is truly weird.  I cannot choose my product from their list (it's as if it never existed...).  I installed the Support Bridge software, which supposedly detected my product serial number, but claims there IS no such serial number.  There are a few search returns in the forums on "Y530", but they are only echoes and not related to finding my download (the Power Management Tool, so I can enable my Fn+F5 shortcut, so I can then enable my Bluetooth.   What gives????

I am using a Lenovo Ideapad yoga 13 ultra book laptop. The laptop costs around 1 lac INR. I had absolutely no issues with laptop.  It was working fine, till in the month of Feb 2015, the touch screen of the laptop got damaged accidently.  I have followed up with at least a dozen Lenovo authorized service centers and all of them have put me down with saying we are not able to resolve the issue.  It?s now six months since I have been using the laptop with the cracked touch screen. I had directly interacted with Lenovo, but all in vain. It is saddening to experience that in spite of buying a high end laptop, the service and support provided by Lenovo is far below acceptable. Henceforth, I won?t be recommending any Dell products to anyone. Very Very Very cold response?????..

Heres my problem, when I turn on my Presario, I get the Compaq screen, then it goes to the windows xp loading screen, and at the next step, when it should go to windows log in, it flashes a blue screen, too fast to read what it says, and reboots.
Now I just signed up here a couple of minutes ago and when I got to this forum I saw the recovery sticky and tried those directions. At the compaq screen I repeatedly tapped f10, but instead of giving me options (per the instructions) it seemed to do the diagnostic on it's own. It passed a lot of the functions, the only error being "system cmos checksum bad- used default settings". So I looked up the error and it says the error could be three things, bad cmos battery, bad bios update, or corruption due to incorrect shut down. Now, if I was to guess at one of these three options, I'd guess it was the battery. This is a pretty old laptop and as far as I know, the battery has never been changed. So heres my questions:
1.)Does this sound like a plausible explanation of whats wrong? I've had the hard drive go bad on me once before and the symptoms were completely different.
2.) If it was the cmos battery, would the laptop start with default settings, even though I haven't changed the battery?

I have a XP 2800+ amd proc. and i need a new motherboard, i came across http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-Details.asp?EdpNo=25223&sku=G451-2015 2 <-- that motherboard, it supports AMD Athlon up to 2400+ @ 266 MHz FSB , AMD Athlon XP up to 2600+ @ 266MHz FSB , AMD Athlon XP up to 3000+ @ 333MHz FSB , AMD Athlon XP up to 3200+ @ 400 MHz FSB , AMD Duron up to 1800 @ 266 MHz FSB, and for some reason it doesnt mention 2800, does this mean i should stay away from this mobo cuz its not compatible?

Answer:Motherboard doesnt support.....

Your 2800 CPU falls in the category "AMD Athlon XP up to 3000+ @ 333MHz FSB".
Meaning you can run it on the Tiger mobo without any problems. Just get the appropriate optimal memory for that bus-speed
(DDR2700 or better)

I dont know why I need it, but I was bored, so I setup a VPN between my phone and my house using OpenVPN. I was hoping to use it to access network resources as though I am sitting at home, like my servers utorrent client. After spending 2 hours setting up the VPN, I was less than enthused to keep reading why it wasnt working, but I did. Apparently android doesnt support TAP and I need that in order to access resources on the network.

Why doesnt android support TAP?

Is there anyway around this limitation?

How can I tell if traffic from the phone is truly going through the VPN?

Answer:Why doesnt Android Support TAP over VPN?

TAP works with OpenVPN using their official app. But android is very limited in VPN options either way.

Good Afternoon. I apologize for being upset, but I felt the need to write this and complain. I want a resolution that is beyond apologies and I feel the situaion has gone beyond repair because I have received substandard service by the company. I want to know how to resolve this to customer satisfaction. I feel mistreated and lied to. I have a Lenovo G570 Laptop SKU 43344QU I have sound problems. While it may not be noticable doing routine tasks like opening windows, playing music and videos it gives me random garbage noise sounds, stutters or blips. It doesn't matter if other applications are running. It will have the problem if I'm only playing music. It even happens randomly on startup of Windows. I have flashed the bios to the latest. Allows tech support people, such as many of you posting on this forum, to take control of a client computer.

http://www.realvnc.com/

Both people need to be running it. The client as a server, and the tech support person as a viewer. I believe it is faster than Remote Assistance, and is easier to configure (plus it works with 98/2k/linux/solaris). I've had some trouble getting it to work with some users and some firewalls, but overall, not half as bad to setup vs remote assistance.

Is it a PC graphics card problem? A driver problem? How can I get past this?

Answer:windows 10 doesnt support your display?

It is referring to your video card. You can click the link below to choose your computer from the list. You can then choose Win10 as the OS and choose the drivers to download.

Today, while trying to contact Kaspersky anti virus I found myself talking to a gentleman from Albion technical support, whom I'd never heard of. While assuring me he would help with Kaspersky problem he 'discovered' my computer was riddled with viruses and said he would put me in touch with Microsoft, who would fix things. It was a real hard sell he was giving me, so much so I grew suspicious and eventually hung up.
My question is this, are Albion a genuine firm, or someone I was right to be suspicious of?
Would appreciate advice on this.

when i try to use my star chart app or other apps that use motion they dont work or i get the message your device doesnt support motion? this phone is supposed to be an upgrade to my nokia 620 and so far it has far less features :(
does it have motion detection or is this phone just bugged?

Answer:Your device doesnt support motion? nokia 635

As far as sensors go, the 620 has an Ambient light sensor, Accelerometer, Proximity sensor, and Magnetometer. The 635 has only the Accelerometer. I'm not sure what app you speak of, but check it's requirements as it may need one of those other sensors not included in the 635. Why it would need any of those other sensors, I'm not sure, that is up to the developer.

When I'm surfing the web, I seem to encounter this error frequently. It shows up when the page won't load right, so I click the the caution icon in the lower left hand corner of IE and get this:

"Object doesn't support this property or method"

It prevents certain parts of web pages from loading and displaying. For instance, the build & price feature on several auto websites. It seems to be Java related, but I am clueless!

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi and thanks for reading.

I've been using Kaspersky a long while and they've sometimes been kind of laggard responding to problems, but suddenly I'm finding them astonishingly bad -- condescending, incompetent, inattentive, and glacially, glacially slow, even though they know my entire system has been waiting on them for two weeks now.

I like Kaspersky as a program but this is making me feel like switching.

(I also use Malwarebytes and the story is totally different. Problems taken care of instantly and courteously. And fewer of them.)

My question to the cognoscenti on this fine forum is simply this: are there any pay-antivirus programs where I will get real support for my money?

"Real support" means real people getting back to me within 24 hours rather than a week (without having to be pestered), reading my problems carefully, knowing just what to do, and not making me feel like I'm a burden or incompetent for asking.

Obviously the program has to work too! But I do little online that really exposes me to huge risks, and I'm realising this one factor outweighs many others for me at this point. If there is a program that stands out strongly in customer service, I really want to know about it.

Many thanks!

I have been rather disappointed and upset about Lenovo's Warranty Service with my ThinkPad T410.
This is why I would advice all to read this before your next purchase.

This is what happened:
The first time I brought my Thinkpad for service, I was told that I had a on-site warranty and that they would come over to my place to assist me with any technical difficulties. Therefore , when I encounter my next problem  with the PC, I called them so they could come over to help. HOWEVER , TO MY DISMAY, I WAS TOLD TO SOLVE IT MYSELF AND THEY WILL NOT DISPATCH ANY TECHNICIANS TO HELP ME !!! SO LET ME POSE THIS QUESTION BACK TO LENOVO: ARE YOUR ON-SITE Warranty Non-Existent???? Or is it a scam to let others believe that you have the best after purchase service?
So indeed I did a system recovery myself but failed to and brought it back to the service centre.NOW THEY TELL ME MY OS HAVE CRASHED AND I NEED TO PAY $30 for it ! This is totally ridiculous and I was so put off as a result

I've got a Lenovo Y500. I preformed a battery status check last night and now my laptop won't turn on. Battery check required the charger be connected the whole time. It recharged the battery to 100% then discharged it to 0%. When it was discharging if I hovered over the battery icon it would say "plugged in, not charging". At 0% battery life when the check was over, the status came back as "good". Then the laptop turned off and now the light that indicates that that laptop is plugged in, isn't even on. I left it on the charger for 2+ hours and it still isn't working. I've tried taking the battery out and having the charger in to see if it would turn on, to no avail. Its been sitting on my charger for 10+ hours and it still isn't turning on.I hadn't had any problems with the laptop as I was getting about 2 1/2 on power saver and I usually run the check very few months. It comes on for a split second if I press the Lenovo One Key Recovery. Still can't get to the desktop though. It comes on for a second then abrupt my stops and makes a small sound like the HDD and fans are stopping. If I press the OKR button without the battery in, nothing happens.   ________________________This is what I posted to the Reddit subreddit /r/Lenovo I bought my Y500 back in June of 2013 for ~$900. I am wondering if there is a way to trust a SHA1 cert? We use Oracle and our version does not support SHA2. It is internal only and never sees the internet. We fully understand SHA1 and the risks. We don't want to trust them all, just our 1 cert used internally.
If its a matter of trusting them all or lowering security settings, we would consider this for our Intranet zone until we can upgrade Oracle.

I have a T430s laptop and it is less than 6 months old. It starting getting blue screens within a month of purchasing it. Technical support has been helpless in trying to fix the laptop. First, tech support told me to turn update my computer daily. Then another tech support employee told me to turn OFF my auto updates. This did nothing and over a few weeks the blue screens progressively got worse. Next, tech support told me to run a diagnostic on my computer which turned up nothing. Then, they tried giving me recovery discs and a new hard drive. After that failed they took it in to replace the system board which made the blue screens worse. Then they sent me MORE recovery CDs to try to fix the problem and that also made the blue screens worse. I called tech support after this and they said they would send in a request for a replacement laptop. I was told I would hear from someone in a couple days. FIVE days later I got a called from someone asking if I wanted a replacement and I said yes. Then I was told I had to wait two more business days to get contacted about it. Another 3-4 business days later, someone called me to tell me that they would NOT be replacing the laptop despite the fact tech support could not fix the laptop. After calling tech support once again, I was told that they wanted me to send in my laptop again for up to 7 business days! This is completely unacceptable. I have just sent a thinkpad back for repair for the first time in over 20 years of owning  Thinkpad.  I have had 8 thinkpad  series laptops in my time as well as a few desktops and now lenovo phones. I am absolutely horrified with the diabolical Thinkpad support. This is meant to be business level support. I feel like I am phoning up Curry's.  Laptop sent back with hard disk in it and I am being told now that it "turned up without a hard disk in it". Now undercurrent of me lying. Original problem had not been assessed and I still don't have my laptop back after 3 weeks. Customer service agents just tell you anything they want to get you off the phone. I suppose all things come to an end but my loyalty to the Thinkpad brand is probably over now.  I am sure I am not the first. Has anyone else come across this?

We are Dell resellers and had placed an order for 43 Laptops - Dell Latitude 3560 with Dell on 13th June, 2016. We delivered them to our customer on Friday 17th June, 2016. On Monday 20th June we discovered that all the Laptops are faulty and are not functioning properly. They have not been able to use a single system due to touchpad issues in the entire lot
We have made innumerable calls Dell to resolve the problem, but the team is unable to identify and rectify the problem.
We have spoken to our partner account manager, regional account manager, Service Specialist and Escalation Team, requesting them to provide us with a solution at the earliest as their work is getting hampered. Our customer has to deploy the same by 1st July however they do not have any Dell Laptops functioning correctly.
How do we escalate this to the Dell management and get a replacement ASAP

Someone told me in another thread, and I also read here, that

All Wireless N routers support dual-band 802.11nClick to expand...

implying that any wireless N router can use the 5 GHz band as well as the 2.4 GHz band. Isn't that the implication?

Then why is it that when I browse routers, only some of them list both 2.4 and 5 GHz frequency, while others list only 2.4 in the specs? I want to switch my network over to 5 GHz in order to get away from all the interference I'm getting, as discussed in this thread.

So what's the real answer? Will any cheap "wireless N" router be able to do 5 GHz, (e.g. this one?) or do I need a more expensive dual band one?

Answer:Confused about router support for 5 GHz band. All wireless N routers support it??

No. The 802.11n standard supports 5GHz, but does not require it. Now if a device was 802.11ac, it will have a 5GHz radio since that standard only works on that freq.

Hello there, I'm interested in finding out more about the X220 - In particular the actual bandwidth available to the i7 Version of the X220 with it's USB 3 port. I'd like to be able to use the Black Magic Design Intensity Shuttle with this laptop, however it requires a Super Speed USB 3.0 Port. It's common for laptops to only use a single PCIe lane interconnect, giving the USB3 Port only 2.5gbps of available bandwidth. This won't be enough to allow that capture card to work  A similar situation also exists for the Expresscard slot - To be able to support Expresscard v2.0, It needs to provide 5gbps (2x PCIe v1 lanes). If it does this, It's possible I can buy an USB 3 Expresscard which will have enough bandwidth to use the card. In short I would like to know if the super speed USB 3 port can actually function at the intended speed, and is not crippled to half rate.

Started about a month ago - pops up over and over and over and over - about every five minutes or less.  I've got a Dell Studio XPS with Windows 7 Professional.  Another forum said to just uninstall Dell Support Center (Support Center Software) - but when I try to uninstall it - THE SAME STUPID WINDOW POPS UP ASKING ME TO INSERT THE SOFTWARE.  I tried doing a Browse and it's looking for DSC20.msi.  I haven't managed to find it yet.  I have at least found \Program Files(x86)\Dell Support Center but there's so many sub-directories...
I shouldn't have to be jumping through so many hoops just to uninstall a program.  This is driving me crazy and I haven't found an answer online yet.

When I installed Win8 on one computer I need a H.P. printer driver. So I went to H.P. support/download did not find the needed driver so I called their Tech. support. A friendly support guy looked at my system and told me my copy of Microsoft Win8 bought at Best Buy was not a legit copy, also my system had been infected and they needed to remove my Win8 clean my system and reinstall Win8. made me a deal of a reduced price of $250US I knew this was not right so I begged them good buy went to Best Buy where I have good friends in the Geek Squad. they got the needed driver and printer works fine.
Today my Netgear routher died, called Netgear to get my lifetime warranty. This also was a support in India guy said it would cost $39US to make sure it was the router I said thanks but no thanks. Took my old Netgear router back to Best Bye where I bought it three years ago and they gave me a new Netgear router. I needed setup help so called Netger as new user also in India guy was friendly looked at my system and helped me get it setup. Then he informed me my computer was under attack and my files were being read he could fix my system and protect my files for the small sum of just $85US. Well I was using a small backup H.P. computer on the Net. hardwired and it was almost never used. So I knew it was a India Tech. support scam again.

This is a General question regarding the end of support for XP. I realise at the end date the computer should be backed up in case you have to format the disc at any time after the end of the support period.

My question is does the built in Windows back up in XP when backing up the system include the installed updates? Or is it best to use third party software to do this.

shipboard

Answer:[SOLVED] End ofThis is a general question regarding the end of support for XP support

I believe Windows just backs up your personal files and won't do the entire OS. You'll need a 3rd party program to do the entire HDD.

Also you really should think about upgrading to Windows 7. Staying on XP after the end support date is not recommended as you will lose security updates from Microsoft as well as patches.

Hi, my name is Ben and i own a 2 year old Lenovo Y530 laptop with windows Vista Home Premium.Everything was working fine, when one day about a month and a half ago, i got the "blue screen of death".Better known as an error code, where your computer crashes.I then proceeded to re-install windows vista, where then it failed to install the updates, and only after a very short amount of time of actually being in the desktop of the computer, it crashed once more, giving the classic error message of it might be something new that was installed, or new hardware, when in reality i didn't install or add/remove any new equipment whatsoever.I bought this Laptop in the US 2 years ago in late 2008, and then moved to Israel. So here is the real problem, after checking the HDD for bugs, or viruses, it was fpormatted, and put back in, also following a system recovery from Lenovos one click recovery system. And found that neither the HDD, or the OS was trhe problem. So since i live in Israel, i sent it to my local Lenovo shop, where they said they do not fix these types of lenovo laptops! So how am i supposed to get to the bottom of this issue? if my local computer lenovo store does not fix my model of computer?I would like an answer ASAP because i need this computer for school and such, and the information that was lost is irrelevant, i would just like the computer to be functioning and stable again.Thank you, and much regards,Ben.

Answer:Lenovo IdeaPad Y530 Crashed, not working, no tech support, need expert/lenovo technician advice

To be covered by warranty, your laptop must have IWS (International Warranty Service). That's the only way to get covered. http://consumersupport.lenovo.com/UserFiles/IWS/20100909035858_62.htm Best regards.

Please Read carefully, two cases in this message: Yesterday, i noticed a big issue within my notebook. I have a Y550 (P8700 cpu, 4 GB DDR3 RAM, 500 GB HDD, GT130M) and interestingly the battery only lasts 5 minutes before saving state of computer and turning of. I called Customer Support, because it has only been approximately one year since my purchase. The support staff (don't remember his name) told me to use Lenovo Energy Management Program to check to capacity of battery. Well, i did try that but it didn't help my case. He also told me that Lenovo gives only 6 months warranty for battery, but other components has 2 years warranty. It is totally unacceptable and false information. Because, i checked several online forums and resources and finally looked at Turkish Commercial laws and website fo industry and trade ministry. The statement is: Batteries and Recharging Tools are under two years warranty. So, Lenovo's policy is 6 months, but offical statement by Industry and Trade Ministry of Turkey is two years. I read a user's topic (he owns another company's high end laptop) and he had a very similar case like mine. After receiving a reply like mine, he applies to a court against company and company had to replace his battery under warranty, even after 6 months.  Today, i called Lenovo Turkey again, (toll free line) and a madam (her name is Saadet) responded to my call. She tried to help. However, her responses was same as the day bef... Read more

I'd purchased a Lenovo Y450 laptop @ the IT fair last June and had encountered several downtime and system issues with the machine.(1) Slow performance (had done a recovery even in less than a month)(2) No sound @ times from the laptop (when restarted a few times, the sound came back...)(3) Some weird sound from the laptop during startup - as if from hard disk(4) Wireless connection - keep getting cut off.*My older laptop does not have these problems... pls advise asap.*My husband called your service hotline the day before and was told the technician will call him back today. He got a call @ 9.14am but was missed. When he called back, the technician by the name of Lawrence, commented "when u see a miss call, u should call me back" !!!I purchased Lenovo product, believing it can serve my purposes and from forum reviews, it seemed to be a reliable product. However, I was utterly disappointed with both the service and the product...I would like to get an explanation on the disappointing service encountered as well as the product deficiency

Answer:VERY disappointed with Lenovo Y450 series and service support from Lenovo!

Yup, I have the same problem too with my Y450. - sometimes there's no sound from my Y450. but after restart, the sound came back as normal. A few weeks ago I saw the Lenovo K430 on NewEgg while shopping for a new Desktop. I was amazed by the K430?s features and great looks. However, after doing some research I became very baffled about the Power Turbo Switch and the many horror stories about upgrading the graphics card. I called Lenovo Technical Support to talk about possibilities and get advice about the graphics card, a woman answered the phone and informed me she had no idea or information about graphics card; but she recommended I speak to Sales. I was transferred to sales and they too informed me that they knew nothing about the computer or graphics card. I decided to call B&H Photo, the name sounds deceiving but they really are the best with support. The Technical Support told me if I really wanted a great computer I should think about building my own. So today, I embarked on the journey to build my own computer and I want to say thank you to Lenovo. If it wasn?t for Lenovo's extremely bad Tech Support and Sales I would not have built my own computer. Lenovo you are so terrible and clueless, you have inspired me, you have driven me by showing me your lack of knowledge and sense of awareness, the idea that a company has a sales and tech department that knows absolutely nothing about their own product. Thank you Lenovo, you are simply the worse PC maker on the Planet! Thanks to you; today I have the most powerful computer I could ever imagined. The only Tech Support Leno provi... Read more

Hi so one night a few weeks ago i shut my laptop after netflix and opened it the next day and none of the USB ports worked, the ethernet did not work, nor did the webcam. I sent it in since it is still under warranty, and a week later got an email charging me 489 bucks for 'water damage' well i never spilled any water on it, it just randomnly broke one night. so i called Tech supporrt today and connected to some1 from the **bleep**ing phillippines who i could hardly understand. I tried to get a number for sutherland global (who does the actual tech repairs ) in TX so i could talk to someone in america, but they dont have the number for sutherland. So after i just explained to him, 'how much to fix the mobo?' he says 340 dollars. so i told him to just send it back how it was. My questions are 1. why does lenovo's warranty literally cover nothibng? 2. is it possible to just fix the USB ports without replacing the whole Mobo? 3. could i fix it myself? 4. do any lenovo employees on here have someone i can speak to who actually speaks english and wants to help me fix my laptop?

Let me preface this by saying that I own a Lenovo X220T and have done for a little over a year. The laptop spends 90% of its time hooked up to a keyboard, Mouse and External screen and is used 3-4 times a week for note-taking. I am an 'advanced user' and certified IT engineer.  I've had numerous problems over that time but I've had enough now. I recently contacted support as one of the plastic tabs to hold the screen has has broken and while I was there I reported a fault with one my USB the yellow plastic has also broken. Support phoned me today whilst I was clearly busy and launched into telling me quite brashly that warranty wouldn't cover it and I was on my own. I was told that although some people has the same problem, there aren't enough for lenovo to recognise it as a fault. The call dropped (as it was a mobile) mid sentence but I was not called back.  Windows 8 drivers and software is laughably bad. Installing the official windows 8 sound drivers broke my soundcard and I had to revert to standard drivers. The fingerprint utility doesn't work at all, crashing every time. The pen just isn't accurate enough at the edges. It improves with the latest firmware but it'sstill not perfect. This is not the kind of support I expect when purchasing a £1300 laptop. While I could deal with all the 'nuances' of the device, this encounter with a poor service has pushed me over the edge. I will not be purchasing from lenovo again, Nor will I recommend the... Answer:Fed up, Lenovo x220T problems. Lenovo support useless

I use the same laptop and one of the little plastic tabs is broken for mine as well. It seems that most of the drivers I've installed for Windows 8 have functioned well.  The pen tablet driver didn't, so I obtained that one from Wacom directly.  That one gets the pen functioning properly, though there seems to be a DCOM component not registered properly which throws errors in the event log.  This, is something I expect will be fixed in the near future.  The sound driver provided by Windows works, but the one provided by Lenovo works for me too.  My fingerprint reader works great.  Use this driver to get yours working. I'm sorry to report that the Wacom digitizer in your tablet will always have accuracy issues near the edges.  This is true for all of the computers I've used which uses Wacom's electromagnetic resonance technology (there are some very technical reasons for this problem I won't go into) and it's inherent to the technology itself (The now-defunct OQO used the same technology, for example, and has exactly the same problem).  There isn't really anything that Lenovo can do.  The firmware update helps a little, but software cannot fix a limitation of hardware.  I have learned to deal with this by doing things like broadening the scroll bars to make them easier to drag (useful for touch anyway).  It has not really impacted the way I use this computer.  I take notes with it frequently in OneNote and i... Good evening! I have a Lenovo Edge 2 that has been babied since purchased. Never abused, dropped, no scratches or dents, it's in fantastic condition still. I purchased the extended warranty, hoping I'd never need it.Last year, it stopped charging properly. The battery power dropped to 0%, and hasn't increased since. The machine will only power on when plugged in to AC power, and will immediately power down when the adapter is disconnected. The charging status indicator LED on the right side of the machine flashes orange in a non-steady, intermittent pattern, and the charging indicator in the taskbar in Windows 10 does the same thing. I returned the machine to Best Buy, they sent it to their "Geek Squad" facility for repairs, and the AC Adaptor and battery were replaced, under warranty. The machine was returned to me, and still doesn't charge.I contacted Lenovo, they advised I would need to return it to their facility for repairs. I put it in the provided box, and dropped it off to FedEx on 6/24/17. It's now been 2 weeks. I contacted Lenovo to inquire about the status of the repair, and was told "The technician found evidence of damage, and the upper case will need to be replaced as well, but damage isn't covered under warranty, so you'll need to cover the cost of the repair." I asked for the price, was told "A technician will email you with the price." I inquired about the status of the original repairs, they told me the claim was on hold, pending my review and... Read more

I have a Thinkpad T450s and it is just over a year old. It still has 3 more years of warranty. Edit: Warranty type: TPJ (This product has a four year limited warranty which includes a warranty upgrade. This product is entitled to parts and labor and is entitled to Depot service).Recently the lenovo solution center gave an critical error for the HDD (Read test failure) and I submitted an online request reporting it. Without even sending me an email or contacting me, they sent me a new part and gave me zero information about it. Apparently every other person can replace a HDD now!  I have created 3 more cases calling their tech support to send the laptop for a depo repair. Everytime the request is rejected 'at the vendor' according to the customer care. Neither the customer care people or tech support can tell me why. Every time they create a new case, tell me I will receive a depo bag nect day, and I dont receive anything, have to call depo customer care and on hold for minimum 40 minutes, only to hear that the case has been rejected they dont know why.One tech support told me now I have to send the new part back before creating a new case, otherwise it will be rejected again. but he does not know how I can send the new part back. The return label sent to me was for the faulty HDD.Can anyone help? What is the point of paying for warranty if I receive this type of service?

Answer:HORRIBLE tech support and warranty support

You do not state which type of warranty you currently have, there are a few which will affect how TS will or can respond. I hope you get this resolved to your satisfaction...
