E430 Slow Wifi Internet? No idea what I'm doing or where to look.

Question: E430 Slow Wifi Internet? No idea what I'm doing or where to look.

So my problem that I'm hoping to improve is that my my E430 has a terrible internet speed no matter if I'm connected through wifi, through a Netgear Powerline AV Ethernet Adapter. Here are a couple speed test results on the PC using fast.com:Netgear Powerline AV Ethernet Adapter on PC = 44 MbpsWifi on PC (Chrome) = 19 MbpsWifi on PC (Firefox) = 20 Mbps Our service is suppose to have around 70-80 Mbps (I forget the exact speed right now) so I feel like I'm not getting what I'm paying for because of my laptop's terrible connection speed. I tested the speed of our wifi out on a different computer (a Macbook) and it toped out at about 70 Mbps there, but not anything better than 20 Mbps on my laptop. My laptop is running Windows 7 (64-bit). The modem is a Motorola SURFboard provided by the ISP. Our wifi network goes from the modem to an Apple AirPort Time Capsule 4th gen which creates the network I connect to. The ISP disabled the wifi on the router because we connected it to the AirPort. I looked at the Lenovo site's drivers page for my computer, but don't know if or which I should download and don't feel right blindly downloading and installing.Any advice would be a huge help. Thanks in advance.

Preferred Solution: E430 Slow Wifi Internet? No idea what I'm doing or where to look.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: E430 Slow Wifi Internet? No idea what I'm doing or where to look.

I have an E430. While trying to fix a USB problem I finally upgraded the bios (I usually resist doing that because things can go badly wrong). Anyway, update went well, didn't fix the USB problem (that was another issue) but it did make the wifi work a lot better. Not sure if speeds are faster but connecting is much more reliable. Some of the interim bios update versions did refer to wifi fixes.

Hi, I've been having a really frustrating problem. I can connect to wireless and wired networks, but in both cases, after around 5 mins, I can't surf the internet (on any browser) for around 10 minutes, and none of my programs that need internet access work. I've had the same problem at home, school, and work. I tried windows 7's troubleshooter, and all it says is that "the diagnostics policy service is not running" and "explore additional options". I've tried reinstalling the netwrok adapter, no luck. Can anyone think of anything?  Thanks in advance! I have E430 windows 7 64-bit

Answer:E430 - No internet - But can connect to network. Any idea?

Try reinstalling ThinkVantage Access Connections and let me know if that helps (use this link, under ThinkVantage Technology):

I would also run ThinkVantage System Update from the same page.

Hi everyone, I bought a Lenovo idea center s510-08ikl last week. For a couple of days, it has very slow internet speed over wifi. I have my laptop connected to the same network, at speeds up to 30mbps, but the desktop has internet speed 0.3, 0.2 mbps. I have tried reinstalling the wifi adapter driver, updated it, uninstall and reinstall but nothing seems to be working. Please help.

Right well I often check my internet speeds using speedtest.net.

Throughout 2008 I averaged 4mb sec. In December this jumped to roughly 7mb.

Now I hadn't done a test from 20th December until the 2nd of may this year. But when I did that test I only got 1.3mb! It's steadily getting worse, just now I got 0.3mb! 0.3mb! I'm paying for up 10mb broadband here. Even 4mb would be acceptable, but 0.3mb! Any slower and I'll be at dial-up speeds!

Can anyone shed light on why this might have happened? as far as I know I haven't changed anything in my pc and nothing like the router, modem, number of pc's sharing my internet etc has changed.

I rang them and they said it was probably me to using torrents. Now I had utorrent installed but I've had it for ages. I don't actually use it and so I uninstalled it just in case it was a factor and it made no difference.

He then said firewalls might make it slow. I only have windows defender, I turned it off and I got like a 0.2mb difference but that might have just been chance since I get anywhere from 0.6 to 0.3mb/s at the moment.

He guaranteed if I tried speedtest while on safemode I'd get a really fast result, proving it was my PC which was causing some problem. Tried it on safemode and no difference.

I really doubt it is my PC since I've had this new one since sep 2008.

Answer:Internet terribly slow, any idea why?

Hi, I have a three months old Thinkpad Edge E430 laptop. I have an issue with wifi connections. I am not able to connect to any wifi, in office and home. I see that my friends with other brand laptop do it with ease. I just don't get it. I have installed (latest version) of Access connection, tried without it, no help from windows troubleshoot help. Windows troubleshoot says it is unable to find the problem cause. No help from Access connection troubleshoot too. I have all the updated drivers for all network devices in my system. But I am able to connect to internet via LAN cable. Ethernet port is working good. I have a tab(non lenovo), that connects to wifi network with ease. I don't think that the problem is with my office network or home network. I have a 64-bit PC and have installed Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit edition. Please let me know if am missing something or do let me know a solution for the problem. Thanks in advance.

Answer:E430 wifi not working

Hi J4hari,

Thanks for posting and welcome to the community.

Based from your post it does appear that your machine may have a conflict with the wireless. You, mentioned that you have newly installed the Win7 Ultimate on your machine. And based from What i can from your screen shot it does appear that you're missing a driver.

I would really suggest you to go to the support site http://support.lenovo.com and ensure that you have installed all the drivers there. This will ensure that your machine will be running optimally. Another thing that you should check is if you have a program called "RapidBoot Sheild" installed from the list of "Program and Features" from the control panel. If you find there, please uninstallit as it has been found to interrupt with otther software processes.

Hope this helps and do let me know of the changes.

Regards

Answer:Would like to replace E430 Realtek wifi 1x1 with Intel 2x2.

Hey there solr_07666,

The E430, like most models that I am aware of, have a whitelist that dictates what you LAN/WAN cards you are able to install into the machine. Looking at the options that were available for your machine, I was able to locate the following:

LAN
60Y3195 2 FRU 6250 WiMax ( I was able to link information about the WiMax)
60Y3247 2 FRU FXC 11WLAN
60Y3249 2 FRU LTN 11WLAN

Additionally, the E430 also shipped with a 11b/g/n, PCIe Half Mini Card, Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230, Wi-Fi + Bluetooth combo adapter, 2x2 o..., and this may work for you as well, as the WiMax will not provide the bluetooth.

Hopefully this provide some insight for you Sol.

This is my third laptop from leneveo series and this time i am strugling hard due to wifi issue i am facing on my machine. Bought myself a nice new Ideapad 310, but I'm having wifi issues. I know it's not the card itself as it's working fine in Windows. A little bit of console output: [email protected]:~$ lspci | grep Wireless02:00.0 Network controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8821AE 802.11ac PCIe Wireless Network Adapter   There is another odd thing I noticed that might be relevant: After the internet has dropped out, I can disconnect from the wlan via the icon but I can't reconnect.   I would be very happy if you could help me with this problem. If you need any other information, tell me and I will post it.Thanks! EDIT: After some more searching, I found some posts/articles that describe exactly the same problem as I have:Wireless disconnect issues Ubuntu 16.04 with RTL8821aehttps://medium.com/@elmaxx/rtl8821ae-wifi-drivers-in-ubuntu-16-04-4c1286524afa#.dsczz2t2whttps://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2245164  Unfortunately, in some posts the problem stays unsolved and in some others, where solutions are posted, the solutions don't work for me, so I really count on your help.

Idea Centre MTM53162hu will not connect realtek PCIe FE to wifi. Have tried to set up IP address, and still no connection. Lenovo said it was a wifi card??

Answer:Idea Centre desktop wifi will not connect to wifi

hi nmcreatrix,

Welcome to the Forums.

Upon checking the MTM: 5316-2HU, as per this merchant, the product doesn't appear to have a wireless adapter. Also, the Realtek PCIe FE is an ethernet controller.

Can you try to:
1. Open Device Manager (press Windows Key+R > type devmgmt.msc) then naviate to the Network Adapters and seeif you have a wireless adapter listed

Screenshot:Spoiler (Highlight to read)
2. If you don't find any wireless adapter, see if there's an "Other Device > Network Controller".
   - if there is, the wireless driver is not installed, try to get the hardware ID and paste it here (see this guide). Otherwise, the machine most likely doesn't have a wireless card installed.

Hope this helps

Answer:Lenovo Thinkpad Edge E430 3254 T1Q - Need suitable wifi driver

Hey there thiyagarajaner,

I believe you are using the ThinkPad 11b/g/n 1x1 WiFi card. Have you tried using the System Update Tool? This typically will instal the drivers that match your system. Hope this helps.

As an alternative there is also this driver, that may work in the even that the one from Broadcom does not.

I've been battling this particular issue for a couple of weeks now without much success. I have a custom built desktop where my WIFI connection will deteriorate to the point where internet (and gaming over Steam, etc...) will be either painfully slow or unable to load pages at all. Windows claims throughout that I am connected to my WIFI network with internet access and good signal, even when I cannot reach any internet pages.

This problem has happened at 2 different locations (on different WIFI networks), and with 3 different WIFI adapters (TP-LINK TL-WDN4800 PCI, TRENDnet TEW-684UB USB, Edimax EW-7811Un). At both locations, I have another laptop and a phone that can connect to the WIFI network just fine. I even got a couple of the adapters to work fine on the laptop without the issue.

I've found that disabling NetBIOS seems to temporarily improve matters (I'd read elsewhere that that can cause issues), but it has not resolved the problem. Also: I'm getting DNS errors in the Windows 7 event logs:

"Name resolution for the name XXXX timed out after none of the configured DNS servers responded."

ipconfig results are posted below. Images of Xirrus (1) and its connection test (3) are attached. Any help is very much appreciated!

My E430 is suddenly running so slowly it is impossible to do anything with it. Office documents don't respond (I hve to ctl/alt/delete and end the process) and I can't print. I have the all latest updates and have done a virus scan. The toolbox scan says everything is working well, but it obvisously isn't. Are there any ideas out there about what I can do?

Answer:E430 suddenly running r-e-a-l-y slow

What I would do is boot off of something else.  I would recommend a linux livecd or usb, as it will boot you into a full operating system.  If it is still slow, then you know it is your operating system and not your machine. I guess you could first try creating a second user, and see if the problem is within your current user.

Answer:Slow internet connection via WIFI

Did not need the IPConfig info. Why are you also downloading updates from some unknown third party website? You most likely have downloading sketchy updates, that is causing your problems.

If you want to update software. Let the software update from the software manufacturer site that created the software. Using third party sites can allow you to infect your computer.

I first noticed the issue earlier when I was trying to play DOTA2 for the first time today (though after thinking about it, it has been going on for about a week...causing me to try a new AV program a few days ago). Anyway, today I noticed that I was getting random lag spikes into the 1000ms range. To test to see if it was just my PC, I used my wife's laptop and ran SpeedTest. Everything came back normal (20 down /10 up). I went back to my PC and tried to run SpeedTest and I can't even get it to finish a test. Every once in a while it will get past pinging the server and show a d/l speed of only 3Mbps. I've never had an issue before, and the only thing I've done recently is add 2 more sticks of RAM. Anyone have any ideas of where I should start trying to fix the problem?

PC specs are in my signature. Using Linksys WMP600N wi-fi adapter.

edit: I've tried the basic stuff like restarting the PC, updating the device drivers, etc.

Answer:Extremely slow internet (wifi)

Wire directly into your router and see what your speeds are like, then if that doest work wire directly to your modem. Use process of elimination.

Hello-

I just bought an alienware M18x, and set it up a few days ago. To my knowledge, all of the drivers are up to date. Yet my internet is still slow (about half the time). I run a speed test, and it says my download speed is 0 mbps for a few moments, then it skyrockets and averages out to about 8. The upload speed is more consistent, but only at 0.3 mbps. I have centurylink at up to 12, and they've told me that the connection itself is fine. Encryption type is set to TKIP, as this helped before (though it's slow regardless). I can post my dxdiag if necessary. Any ideas?

Answer:Wifi Internet to my new laptop is slow

do you have other PCs on the router and do they work OK ?
all of the drivers are up to date.Click to expand...

sometimes you need to actually update the driver by downloading the driver and installing , rather than just doing an update

also try

Uninstall and allow windows to re-install the adapter and Driver
I would goto device manager and right click on the adapter and uninstall/remove and then restart the PC and let windows re-detect the hardware and reinstall the driver

Hi all.

ok, this is my first post so hello to all.
i have ther following.

TP link router pre N 150 mbps and a TP link WIFI dongle also 150mbps.
I have a Virgin 50 meg internet connection.

When i download using a newsgroup via ethernet i get around 53mbps constant. no drop outs and very reliable.

Same PC same servers using WIFI dongle and i get MAXIMUM 30mbps. the speed regularly falls down to below 5mbps and then speeds up again.

I recently re-installed windows 7 and on my previous install i had the same problem, i downloaded SG TCP IP optimiser and it worked i got 47 mbps, i tried it again though on this install and it didnt.

The dongle is the TP link WN727N, this has no drivers on TP links website as it says windows 7 will automatically install the driver for it.

Any suggestions on how i can fix this?

Hi steve.

I would bet you are using "homegroup" as your network model. homegroup on some systems is flaky. You can test it for yourself by simply creating a new network connection using the workgroup model. If the problem is fixed you can then disable IPv6 and kill homegroup

Hi

I live in a townhouse in a college campus which means we all have the same ISP. I checked the channels and checked wifi stumbler. They both look good. For the last few days I have been getting really slow internet speeds after 7 pm till 1 am. I am paying for 25 mbps but around that time I get 0.5 mbps. I have the latest firmware for the router. I talked to customer support twice and all they did was reset my router and tell me to power cycle it. It can't be range of the router because my laptop is right next to it.

Can someone please help me fix this problem.

P.S: Here is my speed test: http://www.speedtest.net/result/1759174150.png

Note: I usually get very low ping.

Hi

I need help with this network problem. There is 4 computers and 3 smartphones in my house all of them have 8-10 mbits internet speed except my PC.

I have tried many things like:

Restart modem/router
Boot my pc in safe mode
Scanned for virus or malware
ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
netsh winsock reset catalog
netsh int ip reset reset.log
uninstalling/reinstalling the driver
Format my pc
I cant use ethernet because my cable is not long enough

But nothing seems to help at all! I have even tried to switch the wireless adapter with my brother but that didn't help either. So can someone please help/guide me through this? Because I cant play my games or stream youtube....hell even web browsing takes forever to load now.
My spec:

i5 3570k 3.40 ghz
8 GB RAM
AMD R9 280x Radeon 3gb
ASUS P8 Z77-v LX Motherboard
ASUS PCE N15 11n Wireless LAN PCI-E Card

Hi, rrazo2382

What model of the E430 are you using? You should be able to find this information on the bottom of the machine (E430-XXX) Also, have you been able to connect with a wired connection?

Thanks in advance,
Adam

Hello everyone. I have recently update my Y50-70 to Windows 10 Pro. My issue is that when i connect with Wi-fi to the internet i have about 15mbps while when i connect with ethernet i have around 35 mbps. My modem is 2 meters away from me and when i run the test with my Android phone through the same page for internet speed i get around 30mbps. I have the Broadcom 802.11ac network card. When i install the driver for this card from lenovo ( the WLAN Driver (Atheros, Broadcom, Realtek) driver) i cannot connect to any Wifi and sometimes i got a screen freeze so i forced reboot. I have tried to unistall the driver from device manager and then reboot my pc but i got the same result in speedtest.I called lenovo and they told me to wait until the driver is udated again (last update July of 2016) but they didn't know if the driver will be updated soon. Any solutions?Sorry for the bad english.

Answer:Lenovo Y50-70 slow Wifi internet connection

I assume the problem come after Windows 10 Pro right? So, the problem would be either Driver... or just that Windows 10 try to download update to itself when you tested it. Well, mostly it is not Windows 10 updated but I think you should use stock Windows 10 Wifi Driver. My Wifi in Y50-70 is Atheros AR956x and using Windows 10 Driver right now. The Wifi speed look great. The speed is around 40Mbps (about 5 MB/s). I'm not using driver from Lenovo not because it is slow, but it is outdated. You can try using 'Iobit Driver Booster' to get newest WiFi Driver for your system and try that too. Although, I did have it installed in my system but I didn't have it install any newer WiFi Driver as I fairly pleased with driver from Microsoft.

My Lenovo H415 desktop Internet connection is slow.  Speedtest.net reports 60Mbps from the ISP to my laptop with ethernet wired connection to Netscape Nighthawk router.  The laptop and our HP desktop report wifi transfers of 25-30 Mbps.  The Lenovo on same wifi network reports about 6 Mbps transfers in and out.  OS is Windows 10.   Where do I look for this machine's sluggish behavior?

I had a similar issue with my system, and restarting my WiFi router fixed the ridiculous slow connection that you are seeing, but it still was about 10 Mbps slower than normal since updating the the Creators Edition.   I found a solution that worked for me, which started with downgrading the device Driver for my WiFi adapter, and then running the following commands to disable RSC, and changing the MTU value from the default of 1500 to 1400. Note   My WiFi card is a Realtek RTL8723BE Wireless LAN 802.11n PCI-E NIC, and I was able to downgrade the driver by using an older WiFi driver stored in the C:\Drivers folder, which contained the installers for the older driver versions. Windows 10 Creators Edtion WiFi speed fixRight Click on Start, and select Command Prompt (Admin) or Windows Powershell (Admin)  (the latter is the default in the Creators Update version)Next you need to run the following command to obtain the name of your WiFi interface:  netsh interface ipv4 show subinterface     Note:  Mine was just called Wi-Fi, but yours may be different Next type: netsh interface ipv4 set subinterface "Wireless Network Connection" mtu=1400 store=persistent   replacing the part between the quotes in blue with the name of your WiFi adapter obtained earlier.   and press Enter Next type:  Disable-NetAdapterRsc -Name Wireless Network Connection  and press ... My Sony Vaio laptop is experiencing slow internet speed even though the signal level shows as excellent. This is only when using it upstairs, where it is normally used. In the same room as the router it is fine. This has only just starting happening and it was OK anywhere in the house until a couple of days ago. To make it even more confusing my wife's notebook and my iphone work fine on the network in the bedroom. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I just bought this laptop about a month and a half ago, and a few weeks ago I noticed the Wifi is slow when my laptop is not plugged in. I looked up the issue and changed my power saver settings so that the wifi would have high performance even when not plugged in to the power source. This seemed to work for a couple days, but now it runs slow again when not plugged in. I went back into the settings to make sure they didn't revert to default, but everything is as I changed it and the problem persists. My internet is SUPER slow when my laptop is not plugged in and works perfectly fine when it is plugged in. I have been unable to find anyone with a similar issue and there are no other settings that pertain to my internet use that I can change to affect any outcome. Is anyone else having similar issues? Is there a fix for this? I don't like the idea of having to keep my laptop plugged in all the time for internet use. That kind of defeats the purpose of having  a portable computer.

This should help run a diagnostic on your system using the Network and Internet Troubleshooter, as well as steps to keep your system on the wireless network. Additionally, I also suggest following the steps below to ensure your power management settings are not interfering withyour network connection: 1. Open DEVICE MANAGER2. Open up NETWORK ADAPTERS3. Right click on the WiFi Adapter for the pc and left click on PROPERTIES4. Click on POWER MANAGEMENT at the top.5. Remove the check mark beside : ALLOW THE COMPUTER TO TURN OFF THIS DEVICE TO SAVE POWER6. Click OK7. Close DEVICE MANAGER and test. NOTE: It may also be checked under the FAMILY CONTROLLER (eg. Initially windows 10 was running fine until suddenly (I'm using Chrome) errors such as "DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NO_INTERNET" started occurring, while periodically the wifi kept disconnecting . After searching for and following some solutions this issue was fixed however now the internet is very slow. Admittedly I'm not technically adept at all however I believe something I changed may have made the wifi slow. I did the following things:
- Cleared chrome's cache
- Changed the DNS to google's 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 (which I am currently using) from the default (IPv4)
- Tried to update network adapter drivers (said there were no new versions when using the 'automatic search')
- Used cmd to run commands such as "ipconfig /flushdns"
- Tried performing a clean boot
- Also followed these instructions (http*://wind8apps.com/fix-error-code-dns_probe_finished_no_internet-windows-8-windows-10/ without the * )
- And maybe some other things that I can't remember
If this problem can't be resolved I'll just have to go back to windows 8.1, the internet is unbearably slow and I can't use ethernet instead of wifi.
Any help is appreciated, thank you.

Hello,
I have a 2011 Asus k53sv laptop with an i7 processor and 8 gigs of ram. I recently upgraded my wifi card because I had an old centrino 100-n card. I upgraded to an intel 7260ac in order to get better speeds in general. Currently my ISP is giving me 100mgbs download and 20 mgb upload. On my girlfriends newer laptop she is getting around 75 mgb download on speedtest.net, however, when I try speedtest on the same network using my laptop, I max out at 20 mgbs. These tests are done one right after another so bandwidth issues aren't the problem. I have all of the correct drivers for this card installed so I don't think that is the issue either. Any ideas on how to fix this on my laptop?
Thanks in advance!

Hi, I have this problem since some time now, I have 2 laptops and T430 and an Ideapad Y510P. The T430 connects to the internet with no issues but the Y510P is taking too much time to resolve a web page, after 10 or 15 seconds I get a timeout error on the browers, then I need to reload the page and I eventually access the webpage.Other problem is that seems to be that loading the web page sometimes it takes too much time, just like you had a 56k Fax mode where the pics load just one by one and suddenly it loads all at once. I have a Intel Wireless-N 7260, however, Lenovo support web page tells me that I should have a Qualcomm Atheros adapter. On device manager, the Qualcomm Atheros refers to the ethernet adapter (not wifi) and when searching intel for latest driver the 7260 is for Bluethooth only, which is odd. Anyone know how to fix this issue? by the way, other Laptops and cell phones connect to the router without any issues, only the Y510P is having this long waits and timeout issues. Thanks

Answer:Y510P WIFI slow internet connection

Go to Control Panel/Uninstall Programs and check if you have Intel Proset software and Intel Bluethood installed. If one of them is missing try going to Intel's website and download the program. You may also download the latest Bluetooth driver if you like. Install the Bluetooth driver first then the Intel Proset program. If the installer present an option to uninstall the old program choose this and install the new one thereafter.

If I am connected via wifi the download speed is 2 meg and it affects all the computers in the house (all are 2 meg)  when I disable the wireless adapter and plug into the router directly with a cable the speed increases to 50+ meg on all computers.

I am using a toshiba laptop S855-S5381

I have performed a full scan using kaspersky internet security and malwarebytes both clean
I have ran windows update and installed all updates
I have reinstalled the wireless nic drivers

still the same result.

aside from buying a new wireless adapter for this laptop (if its even possible)  can you recommend other things to resolve the issue?

It seems like a hardware issue to me however I would think if the hardware was bad it wouldnt work at all which is causing me to think it may be software related.

thank you

Answer:How to aceess internet insert sim card in E430 .... ?

Hi, cnu406

What kind of network are you trying to connect to? SIM cards do not enable Internet access by themselves. To get standard Internet acces, you will need to make sure you have a WLAN card installed on your machine. To access the Internet over mobile and cellular networks, you will need a WWAN card installed on your machine.

Best,
Adam

I spent the last 3 hours trying to diagnose.. Out of the blue after 2 weeks of perfect laptop,  something is wrong with my ethernet/wifi on my T400s. Even plugged with ethernet to the router i'm only getting less than 500ms ping delay and 300kb/s, where 2 other computers right next to me will get 7Mb/s and 9Mb/s.  Wireless is even worse it'll get into the 200kb/s and again the other computer can get 3-4MB/s.  I've tried.. 1. disabling antivirus (i'm using esot)2. disabling windows firewall3. uninstalling think advantage wireless software 4. rolling back wifi drivers5. installing updating intel wifi drivers6. lots of reboots7. make sure maximum power setting is on (why is default in think advantage to max battery?) I'm at a loss.. My t60p never had this problem. Any help here? anyone else have this problem? once in a while it'll get back to 3MB/s  btw, using www.speedtest.net  but it can't stay there consitently. Other tests will drop down to 200Kb/s.. frustrating..

Answer:WiFi Internet very slow in C40-05 All-in-One (Lenovo) - Type F0B50052US

Hi, welcome to the forums.

On Lenovo every model has it support site with all the drivers available. Check the support site of the C40-05.

Give it a try updating the wireless drivers first to see if something improves. There are two depending on the model:
- Realtek 8723BE, 8192EE, 8821AE, 8188EE Combo Card WLAN Driver for Windows 10 (64-bit) - Desktop
- Qualcomm Atheros WLAN Driver for Windows 10 (64-bit) - Desktop
Check which one applies for your model.

Also, just in case check any other process running on Windows that may be trying to use the network bandwith.

Regards

I connect my PC to my router using a wifi dongle (I wish I could use Ethernet but it's just not practical). My router is a D-Link Wireless AC1900, my dongle is an Asus USB-AC56. They connect strongly, usually at 585Mbps. My incoming internet connection is passed through from the modem to the router. The modem isn't broadcasting a Wifi signal. My internet is a fibre connection provided by talktalk.

When testing with Speedtest, my iPad, mobile phone, Macbook and other devices typically see down speeds of 40-60Mbps and up speeds of 15-19Mbps, which is roughly what they should. (I mean, I'm paying for 80Mbps, but whatever.) My PC will occasionally get the same, but very often the download is erratic and slow, something like 1-5Mbps, and I don't know how to rectify it. (The upload isn't a problem, so what I'm usually getting is an up speed that's 4-15x my down speed.)

The problem doesn't seem to be with the router or modem, given that my other devices are getting good speeds, and it doesn't help to troubleshoot through Windows because as far as my PC's concerned, it's getting an internet connection, it doesn't care about the speed, so it doesn't suggest any solution.

I have tried various combinations of restarting the computer, unplugging the dongle, restarting AND unplugging, and every once in a while after being plugged back in it starts to reach the 40-60Mbps range, but there's no consistency to it. (And I'm scared to turn the computer off because if I do it'll probably lose... Read more

My desktop's (winxp home sp3) internet connection, connected via cable to our router, is very slow at the moment, to the extent where it downloads only kbs per minute. I've tried:
different browsers (Firefox, Chrome, Opera... even IE)
disabling/removing/reinstalling firewall (PC tools plus), antivirus (avast) and program startup blocker (gogo data toolbar)
checking for spy/malware (Spybot S&D)
renewing ip address
system restore to earlier point
uninstall network adapter drivers/reboot install
different cable to router
with no success.

However my gf's laptop pc connecting via wifi to the same router has connectivity as usual.

Here are all the details I can think to provide - any suggestions to fix the problem, up to and including full XP reinstall, are welcome.

Answer:XP: very slow internet for desktop via wire, as normal on laptop via wifi - help?

I don't see how the gf laptop is fine on WiFi when you have latency from the router unless she's on a totally different WiFi network, check the name of the router she's on, also do a speed test without the router and see if you still get kb instead of mbps,

This can be a number of things, how old is your router, if you have other WiFi devices hook them up to your router test the speed, hardware the gf laptop to the router see if its still fine. If it turns out to be your pc you may have a bad nic or need to reset something in the operating system.

So I typed a nice post and clicked post and it comes up with no text. Great. This time I'll type a shorter post.I bought a Y460P. I tried to upgrade the Intel 1000 wifi with an Intel 6200 card. I got the BIOS error that it's not a supported card. I found that you need to get particular cards because of a BIOS whitelist. I found a nice chart someone had posted on here for Y560P. What I'd like is either a place to buy compatible parts on lenovo's site, and/or a place that I can look up such information for my Y460P. It is very nice that someone can post a chart in the thread for me, but I'd like to be able to find the information on the support site myself, like in a service manual or something.Thank you,Dale

Answer:Lenovo E430 running Windows 8 lost internet connection twice

Hi, starbase1999

Have you ensured that both your BIOS and wireless adapter drivers are fully up to date. Sometimes not having the most up-to-date drivers can cause devices to behave rather oddly. If you haven't, then you can find the latest BIOS (v. 2.07) here, and you can find the latest wireless adapter driver here.

Good luck, and let me know how it goes,

Adam

I've got brand new X220 with i5, and 6-cell battery. The problem is that the internett speed is ok the first 10-15 min,  but after 10-20 min download speed seems unstable and slow. Does load constant if i stream or go to a page.  I have tried several method in order to fix my internet problem. Without luck I have tried:Updating the driver, updating the BIOS, tried to change channel in modem, i tried to set AUTO under wireless settings, i have tried to have the charger in and whitout, I have tried with wireless-usb-card, One interesting fact, when i sit very close to the modem, the speed becomes good and stable. The speed is also good on different network.  Also with Cabel it seemed good. What can be the problem, and how can i  solve it? i have wireless card Wifi Link 1000 BGN 802.11n with channel for brand 2.4.

Answer:X220 thinkpad laptop: Slow internet speed - wifi card?

Download inSSIDer and see if there's a neighbouring network that's overpowering your own.

Hi all, apologies if I posted this in the wrong place but this is my first time here and also didn't know which other forum to post in! Don't know if I'll get a reply but just trying my luck here and a big thank you in advance if I do get a reply :)
I use a USB modem for my internet and share the internet with my android phone by creating a virtual wifi network using command prompt and the netsh wlan hostednetwork method. It usually works fine. This time, my android is connected but the internet connection is really slow - only messaging apps like whatsapp works; youtube refuses to load and asks me to check my network connection. Any suggestions for this? The internet is running smoothly on my PC (Windows 10) and my android connects well with other wifi sources.
Have tried looking at all the network adapters and it seems that all of them are already updated and are all enabled. Have also tried turning off the firewall but nothing seems to be working... Signal strength appears to be strong on my phone.
Thank you very much!!

A walk around is to have your bios modded. However, there is possiblity that it will not work and render your unit useless. Another walk around that avoids the modding of the bios is to use a usb dual band dongle. This will make your connection available in 2.4 or 5 Ghz without problem.

I just became aware of this.

Essentially Windows 10 is automatically (unless you opt out) sharing all of your WiFi passwords with all of your contacts on facebook, outlook, etc, so they can automatically log into the network you are on at any given time.

From what I am reading, the only way to opt out is to rename your goddamned SSID with the _optout suffix.

Have they lost their collective minds?

Is there really nothing short of renaming my SSID, I as a network owner can do to prevent Windows 10 devices from letting other Windows 10 devices access my network?

This is is absolutely horrifyingly bad. I can't believe this is actually real. it sounds like a bad joke. A real betrayal of trust.

How are you guys dealing with this?

As far as I am concerned my network is my network, and is private. Only people I intentionally an explicitly allow to connect to it are allowed in.

It makes me wonder if there is away I can universally block ALL Windows 10 devices from my network.

Maybe if I by default block all mac addresses except those I have explicitly let through?

Maybe if I add a password protected captive portal?

I might just have to disable WiFi permanently and revert to an all wired network.

Any ideas? I should NOT have to change my SSID to stop Windows from sharing my network password with anyone I have tangentially connected with online.

Windows Share w/ WiFi Direct Concept
The idea of this concept feature is for sharing web URL's, WebNotes, Photos & songs via WiFi direct, something I don't believe WIndows has taken advantage of yet. There have been plenty of times here I would have liked to been able to send a URL or comment on something without having to hand over my device or go through the trouble your e-mailing a link. So I made the concept idea of "Windows Share" which is powered by Wifi Direct, an existing peer-to-peer WiFi sharing feature.

So my boss thinks his no password wifi network for our work group is totally safe. We have lost 2 computers to viruses of late and still I hear from them "are you sure that your not downloading a virus" when I do standard updates like "windows update" and "Secunia" software to update some older of our office computers vulnerable programs. Like my updating is somehow related to the problems.

HERE IS MY REQUEST.

Someone please write a reasonable letter to explain the importance of a password protected wifi network, as I have done my best.

(Side note, today one co-worker told me he was 'very angry' that his computer had been updated with newer versions of Thunderbird and Firefox. I replied that it's not really an option to run older versions safely")

Answer:Convince my Boss that no password on wifi is a bad Idea... (he is apple guy)

Have you used other arguments besides malware (of which I don't see the relation, unless you're implying someone is connecting to your WiFi network to infect your machines)?

- is your monthly download unlimited? If not, your boss will have to pay extra when your WiFi network is used by third parties to download large files, like movies.
- if a third party uses your WiFi network to commit a (cyber)crime and there is an investigation, you'll need to prove there was a third party, and that it wasn't an staff member who committed the crime.
- the information exchanged between your computers is not encrypted, a third party can eavesdrop.

Answer:i bought lenovo idea pad y50 - 70 can't connect to wifi with wep security

Hi,

One possibility:

Is it an n mode router?  WEP isn't supposed to be used in n mode, although some devices and routers will allow it.  If your router is running n mode it may be that your laptop is doing the "right" thing by not connecting.

What happens if you configure your router to use a different encryption mode?

I'm trying to fix a slow computer and I honestly can't figure out what's going on.

The Read/write speed of the HDD is fine, there's no HDD errors, no blue screens. It takes a little while to boot up (few mins), once you're in it's slow to get things going, it's goes fast then slow. I ran the WD disk diagnosis tool and everything was fine, same with DiskCheckup, it returned nothing alarming.

This shouldn't be happening on a PC with this much power

Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit
8GB RAM
Core i7 870 @ 2.93GHz

HDD isn't clogged up, no failure to boots. Nothing worth noticing in the event viewer, I did a defrag and it sped up a little bit. It's not so slow now because of that but it's still not as quick as it should be most definitely.

I've issues in the past with Computer's experiencing thrashing so I disabled the page file, nothing changed.

The CPU and RAM usage ins't spiking either, neither is the disk usage near 99% or 100% (I've experienced issues related to incredibly high disk usage which was the cause of ridiculous lagging). I also ran CCleaner.

I've run MBAM and only picked up a few things, nothing major. I have a feeling it could be malware because if the hard disk was failing there would be symptoms of it. The read/write speeds are incredibly normal, I'm just utterly baffled.

I tried doing a system restore to a week ago but the restore failed so I don't know if that's got anything to do with it, anyway.

I'm gonna reinstall the drivers and... Read more

I've looked over my girlfriend's computer and can't seem to find out what is slowing it down. The only thing I think would make it slow is her weatherbug application, but I set it to only pop up the temperature and not the whole program - that has seemed to speed it up a little bit. But it still is slow when opening up applications, and just in general, seems a little slow. I can't figure out what else would be doing this. I have scanned with Norton Antivirus, Adaware, and Spybot S&D. Her computer is a compaq presario v2000 and has windows xp. Here is the HiJackThis Log:

Hello, I have a problem with my pc. One morning it was working just fine untill i opened a game . In the game it sarted to move slow after 30 seconds and in then it moves fast , and it keeps going slow, fast ,slow, fast. It dose this in every game . Answer:Pc is moving slow and no idea what to do..

Is this on your desktop or laptop pc?Is it a new game?Could it be that your computer hasnt got the specs needed to play the game? Are you playing the game online? if yes, it could be your internet line connection fluctuating? You could try going to control panel and adjust your graphic card setting and display for more performance.I'm no expert but was first here to see if i can offer any help.Good luck.

This is a separate issue from the thread I created recently. I bought my current laptop back near the end of August. Since the first day itself it has been very slow at times. Performing as if it were already 2 years old. Especially when using applications like Firefox or Adobe Reader XI. Typing especially seems to lag behind, moreso immedietly after I start the application. Other things that lag include page loading and scroll lag.

At first I thought maybe it was just a lot of crapware. But I've uninstalled all of it, including the metro apps I don't need. I've always ran Disk Defrag, Disk Cleanup, CCleaner. Removed unnessesary programs from startup/Add remove programs, ran SFC scans, installed all important Windows Updates, ran virus scans. But it still lags.

I have no idea why it does this and what to do to fix this.

The system specs are HP laptop with Windows 8.1, 8 GB RAM, Intel Pentium CPU N3530 2.16 GHz

Any help would be much appreciated, I will try my best to add more information if needed. Thanks.

Answer:Laptop Very Slow Since Bought, have no Idea Why...

This probably isnt' the "best" solution but do you feel like doing a "clean" install and starting over? Also have a SSD Hard drive..

anytime my computer feels slow or crappy.. i totally wipe it (all my stuff is on external harddrives anyway, i just have to transfer my bookmarks in firefox etc.. )

I had a Lenovo totally pre-installed with all kinds of crap.. and I just downloaded the windows 8 core dvd and installed it through USB..

I also am about to totally wipe it again in a few days as I just downloaded the new build of windows 8.1 core with updates (November version)

i know this solution sucks to keep reinstalling windows but in my experience, thats all i've ever seen really get rid of anything that could be causing issues.. (old drivers, junk. etc..)

then after you do a totally clean fresh install just do a system image through windows itself or Acronis, other image programs..

Hi everyone, thank you so much for your help so far, this is a fantastic community of helpful people <3

I am not booty-kissing on purpose, I truly mean those words as you have helped out so many times in the past, and recently...but now I have an odd problem, probably easily solved though.

Okay to say first, my pc stats are in my profile, and below my problem, is a HJT log...

Just as of last night, I have been experiencing very bad Ping, of 500 and above, whereas before I was getting under 100 regularly.

I have tried defragging, disk clean up'ing, deleting 50gb of junk files ,cleaning the registry and startup files to the bare minimum, and even after that, I have a ping of 500+

I am wondering if there is something I am missing, something I could do, to improve my setup - my ram is fairly good, I think at least, as is my net speed, 2MB net hasn't caused me a problem before

Thank you for your time in reading this, it will most definitely bring a smile to my face to see this lower <3

hello.

i have cable internet that is connected to a belkin wireless router. one computer gets slow internet access when connected to this. multiple other computers get better speed. the one affected computer gets fast speeds when accessing the internet at other locations, like a friend's house. also, the affected computer gets fast speeds when connected to the router by a cable.

so the problem seems to be very specific to the connection between these specific devices.

the laptop in question is a thinkpad e420 running windows 7.

thank you in advance for any solutions or suggestions you might have.

Upload speed is dirt slow on just about every site I have tried to upload to slow to really use it.  I have done a speed test test shows the upload speed to be just fine  I have done a test video showing how slow I am getting on 2 file host  Zippyshare I should be getting a min of 850k upload speed and I am not.  Only 2 sites I have found that I get close to normal upload speed are adult tube sites.  Even Youtube I am only getting 700kbs and Mega.co.nz I am only getting 450k.  I had a tech come out a few days ago and check my modem router combo and the lines everything seemed fine only thing the tech replaced was the line from the modem to the wall.  Replacing the line did not fix anything I have tested the upload with the same few sites on 2 differnet computers and both are dirt slow.  I have no idea why my upload speed is slow on about 98% of the sites I have test now I am getting like 225kbps max my max upload speed should be 1.3mbs.  Anybody have any idea what could be causing slow upload speed for me.Edit: Topic moved from General Chat to the more appropriate forum. ~ Animal

I recently purchased a Y530 Idea Pad and can only connect to the interned at 26400 bps. I have 2 other desktopsthat are connected to the same phone line and they connect at 4100 plus bps. Tried Microsoft support, and Lenovo support and can't seem to find any help. Any help will be appreciated.

Answer:Lenovo Y530 Idea Pad slow dialup connection

What connection type do you use? What is your scheme of sharing internet? What is your provider-to-you speed? How do you compare speeds (where do you see speeds mentioned by you)? Aren't there any typos regarding speeds in your post?

Upload speed is dirt slow on just about every site I have tried to upload to slow to really use it. I have done a speed test test shows the upload speed to be just fine

I have done a test video showing how slow I am getting on 2 file host

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WTP6f33d4lk

Zippyshare I should be getting a min of 850k upload speed and I am not. Anybody have any idea what could be causing slow upload speed for me.

This pc was bought nearly a year some ago, it had been dead for multiple times even since several months ago, sometimes the mouse cursor became a circle running, sometimes the screen frozens, sometime my pc screen went black,I heard abnormal noises coming out of my pc hardware but not sure which of it is problematic.Anyway I finally decided to onekey recover my pc, and it was successfully recovered, however my screen frozens again in the initial setup procedures when I was almost finished registering my name and new password, then it turned to black screen, a window of boot menu and app menu then shows up, not knowing the meaning of it, I am now stuck here, and I am helpless, been looking for helping thread over the Internet, but there are too much informations out there that are really helpful for me, I really wish if some of you who experienced the same problem can share your methods that solved your problem, I really would like to attach a few screenshots showing my pc screen, as a first time user, I beg for your understanding and excuse my English, thank you everyone

Answer:My idea u310 Pc has recently experienced slow running system.

Hi JerryChicken,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

As per the query we understood that you are facing issue with system is very slow.

Try to perform a power drain by removing the external devices and try to power on the system by novo button and check for the issue.

Also try to run the diagnostics and check for the issue as this will help us know if there are issue issues with RAM or HDD.

Also try to remove the HDD if possible and check if the system boots to the BIOS.

Also try to run the antivirus and check if there are any bugs in the system.

Hope this helps. Do post back if issue persists!

Best regards,

Im having major problems with my laptop , after login usually it takes 5mins to settle and everything to load up ! Now the start bar locks up and it takes about an hour till the login noise is heard (sometimes doesnt happen at all) . The cpu usage is at 100% and page file like 500mb. No idea why.

Im running XP Service pack 2 , 896mb RAM.

I have recently installed steam some gaming program but uninstalled it. Laptop was fine after. I had a trojan warning yesterday off www.livinghiphop.xxx. Ive run a full Virus scan with Avast , found a few things which i cleared. Still didnt make any difference. Ive run malware bytes nothing found, hijackthis (which i have a log for but it says not to post!) and spybot search and destroy. Nothing has fixed the problem helpp! :(

I have an HP dv6449us which came with Vista but I upgraded it to 7. The upgrade gave me no problems and before I even upgraded I made sure the PC was compatible and it is. So I went on to be able to use Win 7 with no problem at all. I was connected to the Internet and had no problems whatsoever. Then one day my wireless internet just stopped working. When i ran a troubleshoot it said something about a problem with the drivers. So I went to HP's website and got the newest drivers, installed them and had no luck. I also tried system restore with no help at all. Then as a last resort I went back and used my original system restore discs that came with my pc which put vista back on the pc. Then I went ahead and re-upgraded to Win 7. Still no connection to the internet. I do get a connection when I plug it in directly to my router but that's the only time I can connect. It just has that icon of a computer with a red X through it. And it doesnt pick up any other connections at all.

Any ideas at all? Thanks in advance.

Answer:No Idea Why I Can't Connect to the Internet

Did you accidentally turn off your wireless card via an external button or switch?

Have you tried "Troubleshoot problems" by right-clicking the network icon?

Hit the following keyboard combination: "Windows Logo Key + X" What does the Windows Mobility Center say about the wireless?

I personally don't recommend in-place upgrades. Clean installs are the best way to go, in my opinion.

Also, after visiting HP's website myself, it appears your laptop does not have Windows 7 drivers available...

I was just fiddling around with my iTunes and I went to go toggle the "Genius" mode, where apparently Apple makes playlist/song suggestions based on your music library. I thought it would be an easy thing to activate, however once this started it basically locked up my computer to the brink of crashing. As far as hardware, I have a i7 920 overclocked to 4.0ghz and 6gb of ram, so it's not like I have some rinky dink system here. Is there any reason why a simple application that shares music should not be able to run on that hardware?!

But anyways, as far as my theory - I think Apple makes iTunes for windows incredibly slow on purpose as a marketing tool. Whenever I complain about iTunes, people always say "well it runs better on a mac". Why should Apple be able to get away with this stuff? If you serve customers who use two different operating systems, you should make the program equally good for both platforms.

If you think about it - an iPod / iPhone are popular pieces of hardware that just about every windows user has. Hell, I hate Apple, but I have a 160gb iPod, therefore I have to use the iTunes program. It's almost as if iTunes is a common program that windows users operate and it basically allows Apple to tap into windows users.

Answer:Crazy Idea: Does Apple make iTunes for windows slow on purpose?

It's probably not intentional. Like they have a loop in the code called, "Upgrade" that they deincrement every time someone complains ( this is more common then most people realize ).

Now, I wouldn't be surprised to learn that the project team in charge of the windows client doesn't get as many resources as the mac team, or is hamstringed in some other way. That would have the same effect, yet wouldn't look intentional ( or is at least forgivable ).

I have a password protected wifi system. A friend who lives in the same building has asked if they can "borrow" my connection for the next 4 to 5 weeks.
What I would like to ask is:
Would allowing this slow down my own connection?
Would they be able to access my email account?
Would they be able to access my online banking, etc?
Generally, is this a safe thing to do? I'd like to help out but not if it puts my security at risk or slows down my own use of the internet etc.

Answer:Is it a good idea to "lend" a wifi connection?

WiFi connections are being 'lent' all the time, but as you have already pointed out, security is one of the main issues. If you do not protect your service, then you will only have yourself to blame.
With regards to slowness, then this would all depend on how fast your service is at present, and how your friend intends using it. You may also need to perhaps look at your usage limitations on your own contract!.

hey wn13,try this; launch only your browser and do not launch any other programs, do not connect your bluetooth dongle.on you browser, launch the online radio page and leave it.come back after 45 minutes or so. does it BSOD ? if it doesn't that means one of the programs that you were using is causing the issue.

Hello Vista Forums
After hours of searching through the internet, I have finally decided to ask for help.
I have installed Vista Ultimate x64 on my PC, everything went fine - until I recieved updates of some kind, however these were not ordinary updates, after installing these updates I cannot connect to the internet... Yet before the updates, I had no problems, now I cannot find a network even though my ethernet cable is plugged in!

When I go to diagnose it comes up with "The Network adapter "Local Area Connection" is not correctly configured to use the IP protocol"

I have tried removing/reinstalling my LAN drivers on my motherboard, but to no avail!
Please advise!

Kind regards,
Kai

NOTE: Updates that I installed which led to my problem were:
Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 and .Net Framework 3.5 Family Update (KB951847) x64
Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool x64
and Internet Explorer 8 for Windows Vista x64

I have a feeling that it is something to do with SP1, but am not sure.

Recently I came here for help with an internet connectivity issue I was having. Here's the thread:

No Internet Access After Restore

I designated it as "solved," because it was. But unfortunately this same issue is recurring. I've had to go back and run Nihal's advice again twice now. The problem reappears on boot-up, but not always. So there's still something amiss somewhere in my system. Any ideas what or where it might be?

Answer:Any idea why this keeps happening? (Internet Connectivity)

Sorry to hear that.If you are sure that its not a case of malware,i'd suggest you to inspect startup programs.try disabling them in small bunches or one by one until the issue is solved.disable third party programs at first.

Tried to update networkcards and other routines, checked my router if it was blocking for any reason alas no. And yes even tried the magic of turning everything on and off again.
Was in the middle of downloading ASUS smart gesture, cos of the routine, naturally, got wiped when i reinstalled my pc with w10, then I just lost my Connection.
Tried to find the before named "forget network" button but couldnt so i used cmd and removed it instead. Now it loads for a while and then just stops.
Any1 got some more ideas?
