Preferred Solution: Lost my Lenovo factory Reset Drive Partition

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello, I've been having a lot of trouble with this for a while and was putting off posting my own topic for a long time because I'm stubborn and was hoping I could fix it myself, but now I'm just at a loss and want to pull my hair out .

As the title says, I've been having trouble getting my Windows 8.1 to Factory Reset. I can get into the Recovery Environment just fine, the computer resets, then when it enter the Advanced Boot Menu. I select Reset, and the computer will wait a bit, then it says it was unable to Reset due to a missing drive or partition.

I'm not sure what information would be required on my end, but I've tried to create a recovery drive on a USB, I do not have the recovery disks. I've tried lots of things from multiple sites and seem to have made a little progress, but I've sort of hit a brick wall here.

Hello, I just migrated my X240 OS (Win8.1) from HDD to SSD, and swapped the HDD with SSD. Everything went smooth, so instead of the 500GB HDD I now had a 500GB SSD. However, I thought it might be best to start 'fresh'and do a reset to factory settings. On the SSD (a clone of the HDD) I see all partions, including the Recovery partition. However, if I attempt to reset to factory settings, I get the message that Windows could not find the Recovery environment. I did make a recovery USB flash drive, but it doesn't help at all. Also, booting from the recovery USB drive does not work -the screen remains black when I try to boot from it. So, even though I still have the recovery partition and though I have a recovery USB, I don't seem to be able to do a clean install. Does anybody know what I'm doing wrong or how I can do the reset? If my recovery partition/USB flash drive fail, can I get a Win8.1 DVD/download from Lenovo perhaps? After all, I have a legitimate Win8 version and I think I took all reasonable precautions by creating a recovery USB flash drive... Any help is appreciated. Many thanks!

Answer:Cannot reset X240 to factory settings with Recovery partition / USB Recovery drive

Following up on my post, I finally managed to do a clean install/reset to factory settings using my "old" HDD drive (the original drive from which I cloned to SSD) in an external casing via USB. So apparently the Recovery partition on the HDD was functional. However, I'm still not able to make a functional Recovery USB flash drive. I already made 1 in the past, and I just re-did this, but when I try to boot from the recovery flash drive, I just get a black screen and nothing happens. I noticed during creation of the Recovery flash drive, that I cannot select the option to copy the contents of the Recovery Partion to the flash drive. That's why the size is so small I guess: only a few hundred MB whereas the flash drive is 32GB in size. I presume this is the reason I cannot use/boot from the Recovery USB flash drive. Does anyone know why I can't create a proper USB Recovery flash drive?  All help is appreciated!

Hi everyone, I installed ubuntu and GRUB, then I wanted to go back to factory so I tries one key recovery but GRUB is still there how can I uninstall it and set everything like when bought. Onekey recovery only reinstalls windows 8. Thanks !

Answer:How to factory reset and reset partition

hi alexdarkdark,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

You may need to fix the MBR or recreate the BCD file to remove GRUB.

If you have installed Windows in legacy mode, try to:
1. Download a Windows 8 ISO (90 day trial) and follow this guide on how to create a bootable DVD/USB.
2. Boot from the Windows 8 DVD/USB that you created and on Step 1 and follow this guide on how to fix the BCD.

Note:
Backup important files and create a recovery drive before proceeding..

Hello.I have a ( now ) ancient Lenovo 3000 N100.I don't like throwing things away and if I can get it restarted I would be pleased. Basically, it won't boot up.   I get a message: STOP: 0x000000ED (0x89B16858,0xC0000006,0x00000000,0x0000000000 ) Is there any SIMPLE way to just go to a factory reset ? .   I see posts saying 'press the Lenovo care button'  but where is that ?  what does it look like ?Others say stick a pin in a hole   ~but I cannot see any pin stickable hole anywhere ...... So what to do ?  I doubt if it is worth spending money on.

Answer:Factory Reset for Lenovo 3000 N100 ? How ? Cannot see 'Lenovo Care Button' or pinhole anywhere

Hi jonblane1,1. May I know what Windows are you using? 2. You may try to access Lenovo System Recovery by pressing F11.3. If Step 2 does not work, you may refer to this link.

When I first got my Lumia 950, several months ago, I remember transferring my BB10 contacts via Bluetooth. After that I did a factory reset.
Now I don't remember how I did it. Am I missing an app that I may have lost during the factory reset? I seem to remember something called "transfer my data". Now I can't find it.
Any suggestions? Thanks

Hello, its really been a while since i factory reset my Alienware x51 R2. I did this so that everything would be wiped from my hard drive there for i would have more disk space. Everything went as planned. However after reinstalling Windows 8.1 with the disc that came with my new pc, i realized that i needed to activate windows. I didn't have this problem when installing windows for the first time. Is there any way i can get my product key from dell or Microsoft? or would i have to go buy windows?

I did a factory reset on my Toshiba satellite L500 laptop, prior to doing this I copied and pasted the folders from my C drive over to an external 4tb Seagate drive.
Suffice it to say, I didn't check the external drive to make due everything was there prior to my doing the factory reset!
Once the laptop was taken back to original factory settings, I discovered that the files and files were ask in the external drive with the exception of one folder!!

Is it possible to get this folder back?

Is win 7 64 bit.

Thanks

Answer:Factory reset laptop Lost folder HELP!

Not likely. The factory reset rewrites the C: drive.

Try using a data recovery program. I've had good luck with EaseUS Data Recovery. Perform a scan and see if the folder/files can be found.

Don't get your hopes up, and the more the laptop is used, the more likely the data will not be found.

JoryLee,

Do you have any data you need? A fresh install would be ideal here. You should get an installation DVD and install the OS on a fresh HD.

Let us know if you need help with this...

I am getting this old laptop ready for sale. I booted to a USB drive and wiped the C: partition, where Windows 7 was installed. I then reformatted it in NTFS and set it as the active partition. When I rebooted and pressed F11 to get to System Recovery, I get a message there is no operating system on the C drive. How can I do a factory reset at this point? The recovery partition is still there, I checked, so that's good. I have ISOs for the recovery CDs, but i would need to burn them to disk to use them. Is there a way to perform the factory reset from the recovery partition, without going through the hassle of doing this? I heard that there might be an option to boot from a USB drive? Thanks in advance

Is it possible to reset my computer to factory settings without any access to the administrator part of my computer? I lost my password so the only access I have on my computer is to my guest account. If not , is there a way to reset my password without knowing my current password?

Guess it depends on what you mean by "administrator part." If you mean that you lost your BIOS password you're pretty much out of luck. But since you mention your "guest account" I'm guessing that you mean you can boot Windows. So, boot to the Recovery partition or to your Recovery DVDs or CDs to do the "recover/reset/restore to factory defaults." You can find specifics on how to do so on the PC manufacturer's web site and/or in documentation you got with it.

I'm selling my HP Pavillion p7-1400t desktop computer, so I went through the process of transferring my data to my new machine, and factory reset.  In Windows 10 (64-bit) I chose the option to reset to factory settings, as well as delete all data.  I also chose the option to clean the disks since I'm selling it.  It went through the process and everything seemed fine so I stopped watching it once it started to slowly raise the percentage of completion (this was over several hours).  The last percentage I saw it at was around 70%, when the next time I looked at it the monitor was dark.  I figured that I had to move the mouse or hit a key to wake it back up, as it was possibly done but this didn't work.  I gave it 2 more hours to see if it would sort itself out, and at this point I knew something was wrong, so I tried shutting down the computer and still the problem continued.  There is no signal to the monitor, although the computer turns on fine. Due to an infection a client got I had to do it once and got the same result. The only choice to get the HP-furnished software was to use the discs the client was smart/alert enough to have made to get Win8.1 back then do the Upgrade again followed by any other programs.

hi, thanks to anyone who can help. i have an old acer extensa 5620z, windows 7, i'm trying to reset to factory and make sure all my files are off it before selling it. (file backups are all safely on my new laptop) i tried reinstalling windows 7 from cd and ended up with two copies of windows, one on D, one on C.  tried to delete one, wouldn't let me.  tried alt and F10.  got "bootmgr is missing" and laptop then refused to boot in any way.  reinstalled w7 again, reformatting both C and D in the process.  laptop now working and my files appear to be deleted. however: 1.  The D partition has no name, i gave it a letter, but it wouldn't let me use D, so i chose B.  is still 51 GB, so don't think part of it has somehow stayed hidden, and is called D? 2.  This partition, now B, looks empty, yet on Disk Management it says it's the system partition. But in windows exlorer, if i go to Computer, the C partition has the windows symbol and also has the boot, page file, crash dump. after this new install, i then tried the alt and F10 again, to see if it would work now, but it says [ /NOEXECUTE=OPTIN  the pq partition is still there, and i've never knowingly meddled with that, so not sure why the reset stuff won't come up. at least windows appears to be workin fine, but how can i get the partitions back to normal?  thank you

Answer:acer extensa 5620z system partition/ factory reset

alt+F10 will never work after a re-install from a windows 7 installation disk, since the recovery partition needs to be registered. if you want to completly erase your data a simply format is not enought. i suggest you to boot from windows installation CD and at language selection press shift+F10 then at command prompt (this will erase completly everything on your HDD): typediskpartthen on diskpart typelist disktake note of the correct disk ID to erasetypeselect disk x(x is the ID of your HDD to erase)typeclean all it will take some hours, then continue with windows 7 installation

Greetings.

For the Z50-70 factory reset,

Turn off your pc and use the Novo Key (left side number 2 page 9)  to turn back on .
Novo menu would offer System Recovery , One key recovery from Initial Backup would launch factory restore that would reset everything and delete all files and programs.

It would be repartitioned with a new image just like when it came from out of the box.

Be sure that you back up things you need before doing it.
Update us how it goes.

I recently bought a new Lenovo G50-80 but it came with preinstalled viruses.  I got rid of them but for peace of mind i was hoping for a clean install.  Originally I wanted to delete and reformat all partitions but then again I wouldnt be able to use Lenovo's backup and drivers. Thus the questions: 1) Would the factory reset eliminate all viruses as if i was going to reformatting harddrives or no? 2) can the recovery partition in the laptop be infected as well?3) And this might be pointless to ask, but once the factory reset completes, other than the Windows OS, there wont be nothing else on the comp correct?

Takes hours!! still is incomplete and says 'there was a problem resetting your PC'.

i am (was) running windows 8.1 and do not have any recovery disks. my wife has a working L 50B that we bought at the same time - is it possible to make a recovery disk/usb from it and try and repair my L50D?
or what is the best way to get a recovery disk for this laptop?
appreciate any feedback and suggestions

I have a G50-80 latop which was upgraded to Win10 quite a while ago. Recently it started having trouble with hardware and software that once worked not working any longer. I decided to use the factory reset option to take the system back to Win8.1. Before doing this I uploaded the more critical of my user files to a cloud service and created a Windows system recovery image to an external SSD connecterd via USB. I also created a system recovery CD. Once I felt all was safe, I pushed the little button and began the factory reset. It worked beautifully, the system came up in Win8.1. However, the files I had uploaded to the cloud didn't fully propagate, and I needed to restore the Win10 image to get them back. After many attempts to get the Win10 upgrade to work, I was finally able to boot Win10 and restore from the system image from the SSD. I found the files and more securely saved them for later access. Now, I needed to perform one more factory reset to bring the system back to Win8.1. But, the operations to do so resulted in the system rebooting back to the Win8.1 installation. It was not able to start the factory reset. Some reading on the internet indicates that if the HD partitions are written to by software other than the Lenovo OneKey tools that any attempt to use the factory paritions to do a reset would fail with the symptoms I was seeing. Using the Win10 disk management tool, I can see that there are 6 paritions on my HD. They are called "Reco... Read more

Hi, I have a Lenovo laptop I was struggling to use several months now. It wouldn't update windows for one thing noway whatsoever and would not either upgrade for free to windows 10.Since the expiry day for free windows 10 upgrade is approaching I decided to factory reset it and complete the upgrade if it wants it or not.I guess I'll have questions during the process so I decided to register here and ask them as they will appear. So here is the first question, as I checked the reset button, it asked if I want to reset only the drive with windows or the other drives too. Such as my laptop had more than one drives, which I ignored.Where can I locate and check those drives?TksP.S. Don't know how to answer to the below answer but editing initial post. I performed clean install of windows through novo button although a botched attempt to recovery through another procedure previously made windows 8 not responding.  Wonderful feature the novo button, did not even know it existed in my laptop. After that I upgraded fully to windows 10, added a security suite, a vpn and now I am scanning for malware offline.  Will study all your info below first thing next.  I have another question though.  If I want to create a restore point now that I finished upgrading, is this possibility available or should I use the one key recovery to create an image instead?  Or are both options available and if yes, which one to choose?

Answer:Factory reset of lenovo g40-30 windows 8

Hi assybertran ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Usual for the G40-30 model to either have a single HDD or a hybrid SSHD that holds with 8GB NAND flash memory . Physical harddrive may hold multiple drive declared as partitions.

Onekey recovery feature is a full factory reset that would be able to clear and delete everything out and restore the image the way it was when receive from out of the box which is ideal to having a fresh start for users as it deletes possibilities of infecting one drive from the others.
Data back up is definitely recommended on a different storage

To check both for availability and integrity  running diagnostics would help.  Going to the BIOS on the same Novo menu would also show physical drives available on the unit.
About the mentioned partitions , disk management would show it. Note that OKR is a hidden partition on the harddrive (highlighted links for further reference and details) .

Take time to review the procedure and back up everything needed. Run appropriate diagnostics before deciding.

I haven't been able to resolve my black screen issue. I have a recovery cd I purchased from Lenovo. My question is when I turn on my pc it goes to the Lenovo F1 and F12 option. I can access those so How do I reinstall my Windows 7?

Answer:Factory reset on Lenovo B320

hi iamary,

Ideally, if the machine is preloaded with Windows (e.g., Win7 or Wni8/8.1), you can do a system recovery by pressing F2 on boot-up.

If the machine didn't came preloaded with Windows or the hidden partition is damage then you need to insert the Disc 1 of the Recovery Discs -->turn on the machine --> tap press F12 on boot-up and select the CD/DVD drive to boot from the recovery media and restore the unit to factory settings.

Note:
The system partition will be wiped during factory restore, Ensure you backup important files first before proceeding.

As the subject above suggests, I am looking for specific instructions on how to perform a factory reset on my Lenovo Z570. My laptop has been starting up really slowly and the entire laptop seemed to have slowed down significantly. Looking to perform a factory reset to clean it up. I have tried the OneKey Recovery process, however, it does not proceed any further than the screen with grass/leaves. The window that was supposed to appear after that consisting of the 3 options did not appear- the screen with grass/leaves seemed to carry on at least 30 minutes. I was wondering is there another way of carrying out a factory reset without using the OneKey Recovery process? I have tried using F11 key at startup and nothing seems to happen. Is there another key that I should be using? F9/F10 doesn't seem to be the right ones as well. Cheers guys.

Answer:Factory Reset Lenovo Z570

hi lenovogeek2015,

Welcome to the Forums.

If you have a preinstalled Windows 7 OS, pressing the OneKey Recovery button is the usual way of restoring the machine from factory settings. Since this method doesn't work for you, you may try to boot into Windows and create a set of recovery disc then use it to restore Windows on the system.

Guide:
How to Create Factory Disc with One Key Recovery 7.0

In addition, I've seen the issue where the System Recovery screen doesn't show up and the unit is stucked on a wallpaper with green leaves (this is usually a case of a slow or failing HDD).

In this case, you can try these steps to check and improve the performance of the drive:
1. Use chkdsk and defragment and observe

Windows 7: Disk Check
.
2. If same issue, run a diagnostic on the drive to verify its health.

Tools:
 - HDTune (run a full error scan and check the health tab)

 - Lenovo Individual Diagnostic (see Storage Test)

 - Data Lifeguard Diagnostic for Windows (for Western Digital drives)

Greetings everyone: I have a Lenovo x201.  It originally uses Windows 7 Pro. I had upgrated it to Windows 10 but felt it was too clunky.  I utilized the system restore windows that comes on when you boot up the laptop.   After the reformat I wanted to check to see if I could preform a system reformat again but I don't see the system restore window anymore upon bootup.  I did press the ThinkVantage  button upon boot but nothing.   I pressed F11 but nothing.  I did check to see if the partition is present and it is.  I am not sure what the next step is. ThanksMario

Hi,

I have a Lenovo Thinkpad E530c laptop which I need to reset to factory.

On startup. pressing F11 brings up the Lenovo recovery tool to do this, however, because the laptop is setup on a network, it says this cannot be used. It instructs me to login and use the tools within the OS.

I cannot login because the trust relationship between the laptop and server is corrupt (which I also can't fix).

Any ideas on how I can access the recovery tool, perhaps by creating a new login to use (I don't know the local admin password).

Thanks

Hey guys, For context: I have a recovery key. I can't seem to factory rest my Lenovo because of this one error. I start my pc using the novo button, go down to System Recovery then press enter. From there, all is good. But after that, I either get a blue screen with an error message on a blue background followed by the startup up Lenovo Screen with the added "preparing automatic repair" followed by a black screen or I just skip the error message straight to the "preparing automatic repair" screen. Does this make sense? If so, how do I fix this? Kind regards,Luc

My Windows 8 Lenovo Y500 has been in a constant auto repair black screen blue screen loop for a couple of days now and I can't seem to find a solution. Mainly I've been looking to simply factory restore it to solve the problem since I don't care about losing any data. I've already tried: F8Shift + F8F9F11Novo button system recovery I tried these in order to try and access the advanced options but to no avail. The Novo button system recovery says "Loading files" then goes to Lenovo logo but loops back to the auto repair. I do not have a Win. 8 recovery disc or USB at hand. Is the only way to fix this is to obtain one? Thanks.

Hi Guys can I ask for a little help please
My Dell Vostro laptop was running Windows 7 (64 bit) professional but a few months ago I made a backup of the windows partition with True Image Plus 2013 as a back-up, I then upgraded to windows 8 all was working ok for a while but I decided Windows 8 was not for me and decided to use the true image backup I had made of windows 7.
I booted my computer with the true image boot cd and selected the relevant backup image file, all was ok until One second from completion and then true image said the restore had failed.
I then tried to boot my computer but the MBR was missing I then tried to use a Windows 7 system dvd to repair the MBR but it would not work.
I then found out that when the restore failed it had destroyed my windows partition and my factory recovery partition, and a partition I had my data stored on, so now I am unable to restore my computer with the factory restore option.
Fortunately I had made some rescue dvd and I have my computer working again but I would like the recovery partition back working if I can
I you look at the disk management screen shot I have attached you can see that I have a partition with a size 750.0 MB and 750MB free.
But now I am using Macrium to make my backups and when I run a back-up it reports that a partition is called Recovery and it is 750.0 MB with 212.0MB used and 537.0 MD free please see second screenshot
Can anyone tell me what?s going on and can I get the recovery partition to work again... Read more

Answer:Lost Dell factory recovery partition

The 750mb partition contains the files needed to boot windows. It is quite large because there may some oem tools on there as well.

You don't have an actual recovery partition containing the files needed to reinstall.

You can make one easily enough. It doesn't need to be a separate partition , you could use your data partition for that and still keep all your stuff on there.

I would use the latest installation media for that.

You can get it from here: Windows 7 Direct Download Links - HeiDoc.net

Or you could use what is on your recovery discs if you really want.

Hi

After a successful factory reset and restore via Windows Backup/Restore, I'm missing a couple important programs (Adobe Acrobat; Paperport). Everything else seems to have restored properly. Is there still a chance these two are lurking on my backup Seagate external drive and, if so, how can I root them out (a simple search yields nothing)

Any ideas out there????

Answer:Lost Programs after Factory Reset/Restore Dell Inspiron/Windows 7

I would not think so as Windows backup on 7 does not back up programs - only the system image does that.

Windows 7 backup
Windows Backup won't back up the following items:
Program files (files that define themselves as part of a program in the registry when the program is installed).
Files stored on hard disks that are formatted using the FAT file system.
Files that are in the Recycle Bin.
Temporary files on drives smaller than 1 GB

Adobe of course if it was the free version is not a problem as you can simply download it
Paperport if it was this
http://shop.nuance.co.uk/store/nuan...Currency.GBP?gclid=CMb2p8DWjsICFesBwwodG7AALg
is problem and the only possible solution I see if you still have any details of the purchase is to contact Nuance and see what they may offer you

The screen shot you posted shows the system restore page, not a factory reset page. There would be no system restore points to restore to because system restore was disabled.

Hello, My sister bought a Lenovo 3000 N100 (I dont know which model as it has rubbed off) about 3 or 4 years ago. When she bought it I made some recovery CDs (7 CDs). Anyway she has been infected by a virus called "XP Recovery" which has hidden all her files and deleted all the .ink files in the start menu. I have managed to remove the virus but I dont really have time to manually restore all the .ink files as this would take way to much time. I just want to restore the OS to factory settings. How do I restore the system to factory settings? The 4gb hidden partsion is still on the system andit hopefully hasnt been damaged. Thanks Carl

if you still have dvds, just insert the first one ( you may need to setup bios order, press 12 to do that ).also, if you have one key recover button ( restore & recovery ) you can start-up your computer by pressing that button.

Tablet has full ice cream sandwich latest version, and these apps were pre installed. Any suggestions please, as the person i'm selling this to needs facebook and youtube on it.

Answer:Urgent help needed...android reset to factory settings, now ive lost facebook andyoutube

You can access the web based version of the Goggle Play Store by opening a browser window on Google co uk and clicking on Play just below the address bar (on android you will be asked if you want to open it with the browser or with Play Store keep saying yes to the Browser) if you scroll down the page you will see on the left "Facebook for Android" selecting this will get you to an "Install" button when you try to install it may well tell you that your system is set to allow only apps from Play Store ? if so then goto Settings then Security and temporarily enable "Unknown Sources" will get rid of this requirement
You can repeat this process for your other apps

I've had a virus on the laptop/tablet for a while now and it was ruining the PC for me. I tried multiple different free malware detection services but the actual problems always slipped through. I didn't want to have to pay for a whole new program just to clean it out, and because this is a fairly new device I decided to just factory reset the whole thing. I followed the steps in the user manual and a couple of different internet sites, but I've hit a brick wall. When I get to the reset screen of the laptop, all of the possible options I can use encounter errors. I tried to use "refresh your PC" and get "There was a problem refreshing your PC". I tried "reset your PC" and it gets about half way through the process and says "There was a problem resetting your PC". I went into the advanced options that looks like the image I've attached to this post. It says I do not have any point to restore to, I don't have an image backup, the system repair says that it couldn't repair the PC, I have no idea what to do in command prompt, I couldn't find anything useful in the UEFI (But then again, I didn't know what to look for), and startup settings doesn't do anything. On top of all that, I can't even get out of this menu. My options at the menu start are to Continue (Exit and continue to Windows 8.1), Use a device (Which I do not have one or know how to get one), Troubleshoot, and Turn off your PC. Sorry to hear of your problems.

Are you looking to access the computer by circumventing the passwords or are you looking to restore the computer to its original condition like when you first received it?

If it is a password related problem, discussion related to by-passing passwords is not permitted by forum rules due to the ease in which laptops can be stolen.

Answer:How to factory reset lenovo T430 without novo button

There is no novo button.  You enter the BIOS by F1.  F8 gives windows startup options.  Some win8 licensed machines came with win8 and some were downgraded to win7, but all would have been activated.  F11 will restore, but it sounds like somebody installed an incorrect copy of windows, which might have overlaid the restore partition.  In that case, you will need to buy a copy of windows from Lenovo or elsewhere.

Hi

I need to reset windows 10 in my laptop HP.
It is my question
Will the partition, I have created, be lost while reset windows 10
I have lots of information in drive.
Can any body give me the advice

Thank you

Maideen

Answer:Will the partition, I have created, be lost while reset windows?

The official answer is no if you have created a new data partition.

However, as any regular here will tell you the pc gremlins will cause it to crap out if you do not have a backup . Conversely, if you do back it up, the pc gremlins will ignore it and it will be fine!

Seriously, you should always back up valuable data anyway as your hard disk will (NOT may) fail at some point.

Hi So I got mt Lenovo thinkpad r400 (Windows 7)  few months ago and I want to reset it to factory state but whenever I try it says I need  to insert a certain disk but the issue is when I bought my laptop refurbished it didnt come with the 3 disks I need I tried making my own system repair disk but when I try to reset with my disk Iit wont work It says I still need the 3 disks I really need help so any help would be aappreciated Thanks

Answer:Lenovo ThinkPad R400 Factory Reset Without Recovery Disks

Hi, I am going to assume that your R400 did not come with a Lenovo preload. If it had, you would have a Q drive containing the factory preload image, and then pressing the ThinkVantage button would invoke the factory reload process. using Rescue and Recovery. In addition, having a Q drive, allows you to make factory recovery disks yourself using the Create Rescue Media application. That said, your only other option is to call up Lenovo and pay for them, and that only works if you have a Windows 7 license on the laptop. I bought my R500 back in 2009 and it came with a  Windows 7 professional (32 bit) image. About two or three years later, I purchased the recovery disks from Lenovo, for Windows 7 professional 64 bit for $50 Canadian. What arrived were 2 DVD's and the label on them says that they can be used to recover T400, T500, R400 or R500. I have used them to re-image both my R500 machine, as well as a T500 machine I obtained recently.

I just bought the lenovo ideapad y580 which comes with windows 8 64bit. Then I tried installing windows 7 64bit with a installation cd I had lying around. I installed it but throughout the installation it required a restart and it didnt finish installing and on the startup it now gets stuck on the windows 7 startup screen. When I look into drive partitioning(forgot how I did that) it says that theres windows 8 on the C: drive but when I go into (f11) which operating system to launch it only says it has windows 7(which freezes up doesn't even launch in safemode. (I downloaded a windows 7 recovery cd burned imagine file to disc and used it in the laptop but it says incorrect version of windows to use this software. So i downloaded windows 8 recovery and it just crashed. I also tried downloading different versions of windows 7 mounting the iso to a cd but the boot menu doesnt recognize the cd (doesnt even know theres a cd in the laptop). Anyone know of a fix?

Answer:Lenovo ideapad y580 Reset to Factory/Install windows 7

I had installed Win7 after Win8 and I had a simaliar problem, except when I recovered it simply did not work. There is a problem with the cross partition platform between .MSI and FAT32. I had to actually try to reinstall the Windows 7 by just wiping the whole HD. If you can enter BIOS and just reformat EVERYTHING, LEAVE NOTHING then you might be able to do so. If not, have you tried drivers? Or have you tried possibly booting with a USB on something like Ubuntu or Debian? That's what I almost did as well. I think though, if you cannot get it to work, I'd retry with partitioning, then if that still didn't work, I would try using a new OS to boot through. I would suggest if that doesn't work, then come back. I also, have a USB DVD-CD ROM drive that I use.So try that if you have already, then talk to me tell me more details.

Hi, When I boot my laptop, after OS start, it will continue on to a blue screen and reset.  I tried opening OS to safe mode but it also continue on to blue screen after OS starts.  I also tried using the lenovo care button for recovery but it ask for my OS password.  The problem here is that I've been using the finger print to start up the OS, and I forgot the password.  I also tried using the recovery disc I created, but it also continue on to asking my OS password. What I want to know is how can I access the partition where the OS is stored so that I could re-install the OS or a way to reset the laptop to factory default and make the necessary upgrades from there. Thanks. Mike

Answer:How do I reset my Lenovo 300 N100 0768 to factory default? Or how to re-intall OS?

Have you changed the hard drive setting from AHCI to disabled in the bios? The other thing is, it sounds like you bought it used and someone before you set a password.  Try the BIOS thing first.

Hello I have performed factory reset operation to a newly purchased mSATA (with adapter) Samsung 1tb SSD.However, after this the system doesn't boot. The Boot Menu message is "ATA HDD0: Samsung SSD 840 EVO 1TB mSATA". I press ENTER, but system doesn't proceed further. The check shows the Windows files were transferred to a new media, disk was partitioned etc.System diagnostics shows the media is healthy. I also tried several BIOS options but without positive impact. Thanks for any idea,Best regards, Evgeny

All, I received my Lenovo T400 yesterday.  First and foremost I noticed the lack of recovery CD/DVD included, so I proceeded to create my own.  I inserted a DVD and noticed it only used a portion of it, so I assumed it was not able to burn to DVD.  To my surprise this was only the 'Boot' disc. The DATA portion of the recovery ended up using 14 CD's after which I canceled because I ran out of CD's.  If I had known how large it would've been, I believe I could've used DVD's for the DATA portion of recovery. Now when I attempt to create a new set (hopefully using DVD's) it says: "You can have only one copy of the Microsoft Windows Operating system.  The Product Recovery Media Center will exit now." I now do not have any backup CD's or DVD's, and slightly upset at the lack of prompts from this utility.  How can I create a set of recovery DVD's and get around this prompt?  Thank you for any help.

Answer:Lenovo Factory Backup Partition Information Error

senoje, welcome to the forum,

What's happened is unfortunate, I believe it actually states that dvd is not supported for the first disc when creating recovery media.

Good that your systems brand new, you can recover your system to factory settings and then create another set, use a CD for the first disc and then dvds.

To recover your system you need to press the blue ThinkVantage button at boot, this will bring you into the R&R console. (if the option is offered, at the bottom left almost hidden, select advanced options). You then need to select to restore your system and you must then choose to restore to factory settings. Follow the instructions and you should be home and dry. Don't be alarmed if during the recovery the system beeps several times, this is normal.

Hope this helps

there is no download site for the pre-installed OS, Microsoft doesn't allow it. Your safest bet would be to contact support and ask them to supply / sell you a set of recovery discs.

Hello! Every time my computer gets stuck on buffering, and I lose control of my mouse cursor, I know that's because my computer has been hacked with spyware. So, I reset my PC with the factory reset PC setting command and than, my computer goes back to
normal. But the computer hackers figure out that I kept resetting my PC to clean my PC from spyware. So, the computer hackers, hacked into my computer and disable the drive of my PC factory reset PC setting command. This time, whenever I tried to do a PC factory
reset, the computer tells me that the drive is missing and I can't continue with the process of resetting my PC to the original factory data program mode. And I've tried doing a PC auto repair and that too has been disable. Who ever did this to my computer
is a computer hacker genius. What should I do?

Need help with a strange problem, with which I do not see a normal way to fix, after a successful recovery from the factory backup, after using Onekey Recovery. Not so long ago Yoga stop boot in the operating system (Windows 8) and there was only one way, use OneKey Recovery to restore everything back.  After the successful restoration from hidden factory partition, Lenovo Yoga refuse to boot into OS and constantly booting into OneKey Recovery, without using OneKey button. When you push Power button Lenovo logo pop on screen, than loading bar appear on bottom and after it load OneKey Recovery screen. I try use options from OneKey screen, like Boot Option, it bring nothings there , just empty blue screen. It going in loop no matter what option I try use..  Still same OneKey screen on start, what asking me to Reset or use Backup image. I did factory reset several times already, with successful confirmation, no fix done yet..  Is there a known problem or way to stop boot OneKey Recovery in loop? All BIOS setting in factory default, and searching on WEB bring nothings useful. There a lot similar problems with some type of variation but recommendations seems not apply on my situation. I getting sick of that.. and absolutely no idea what can be done else. Please, I need direct response from Lenovo tech support or someone who has same and was able to fix. This is Lenovo Yoga 2 11, model name: 20332. Made in 2014.

I've got a problem with my Xbox One and the official troubleshooters told me to do a factory reset. I've got a few hundred gigs of downloaded games that I wanted to save, so I hooked up an external drive and copied them over. After the reset, I was unable to get the Xbox to offer me the option of copying them back, so I think I did something wrong:

1. Connected the drive, formatted it to hold games
2. Copied (not moved) the games to the external drive (so the game management screens showed the game data in both internal and external storage)
3. Powered off the Xbox, disconnected the external drive
4. Powered on the Xbox, performed full factory reset
5. Powered down, reconnected the external drive, powered back up again.

After all of that, the console seems confused: it lists the games as having been installed, but the game management pages don't show the usual icons, nor do they show the external drive as having a copy of the game. Attempting to launch the games takes me to the Xbox store, where the usual "download" button shows either "Play" or "Launch". Clicking on it does nothing but refresh the store page (it doesn't even start the download in the background).

Note that the Xbox has recognised the drive and shows it with the right amount of data on it: I'm confident that there's no problem with the drive itself.

Hello, Welcome to the HP Support forums. Thank you for posting! If you aleady performed the BIOS/UEFI hardware tests and if they say HDD fails, then this is it. The problem is hardware related - not Windows, not software and the hardware (HDD) needs to be replaced. Your options: 1) If your computer is still under active warranty period , please contact HP Support and inform them. They will work with you about the way to replace the faulty component.  Contact HP:>> http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-phone-assist.html>> http://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp  2) If your computer is with warranty period expired, you will need to replace the faulty HDD - buy it on your own. There are variety of options - vendors you can choose from - you need 2.5 inches HDD SATA. You can get it online or from PC retail store. You can also consider installing SSD instead of HDD - this is strongly recommended as SSDs are way faster, more repliable and lighter. I purchased my laptop in Nov, 2014, with Windows 8 installed. Did the free Windows 10 upgrade in 2015 when it was offered to me. Had no problems until November 29th and 30, 2016. Left my computer in sleep mode while I was in the hospital having surgery and my computer got hacked. Opened up my email account on Dec 1 to several messages asking for passwords to be reset due to suspicious activity, as well as transfers of rewards funds to gift cards (which I was still able to prevent from being lost since the pin numbers have always been forwarded to a secondary phone). Did virus and malware scans as well as network scans, found a foreign computer and reported it to internet provider, then changed internet name/password. Rescanned all systems again, nothing found...no malware/viruses. Computer still having problems and continuing to slow down to a crawl. Diagnostics of system suggested a reset to previous date. Tried but couldn't reset...system hung for 3 days at startup. Decided to do a factory reset to original settings since recovery disks were made at purchase time. Since files have been backed up regularly not only to hard drive but to thumb drive, wasn't too concerned about savng, but chose to save to thumb drive again just to be safe. Have done every conceivable way of doing the reset (secure boot on as well as off, legacy boot enabled as well as disabled, boot from hard drive first as well as boot from cd/dvd first, boot from usb first then cd/dvd then hard drive) all wit... IrishLady911 Hello;Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums! I can tell you what will NOT work -- copying the contents of the Recovery disks to a drive or USB stick and trying to use that.  Simply won't work. Sounds liks what you're doing is changing the default boot order of devices, and that is NOT what you want to do. You need the Boot Menu which lists all the devices the PC can see, so you can select the DVD drive. You should be to able to get to that by pressing Esc or F2, repeatedly, while booting.  If either of those does not work, then try F9 or F12.Good Luck

HiThanks for your reply! I promiss that the next time I will post on forum my future issues....sorry for to contact you direcly...I ment only one partition in disk management. When I bought the PC, there was only one partition (C: )in Win Explorer and in DIsk management there was the (C: )partition plsu an hidden 20GB recovery partition. The rest was clean.I have partitioned with MiniToolPartitionMagic Free. Infact only after the partitioning, where I've created the D: DATA partition (1,7TB) there appeared 7 the little partitions:PBR_DRVSYSTEM_DRVWINRE_DRV.... ecc. Now that I would to do, is to restore entire PC and disk to factory settings. Hello everyone,

I pretty much lost my hope to restore my d:/ drive and all what was in it (all my data) before restoring my laptop but hope dies last.

I found this thread D Drive missing after Recovering Computer and it seems guy was smart enough to backup all his data in d:/ drive but I wasn't. I had no idea that after factory reset everything including my d:/ drive will be gone.

So, I was wondering if anyone knows some way to restore my data which was in my D:/ drive ?

Thanks an advance.

Answer:D:/ drive is gone after factory reset on Sony Vaio Laptop ???

Do you mean your D partition ?

Because if you had a separate D drive, you should have pulled it before you did the factory reset.

Why would you have to restore a data drive, what was wrong with it that you had to reset windows, a data drive or partition has nothing to do with windows ????

As Windows is on C, not D.
