I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I've got a Toshiba Satellite laptop that's giving me a new, strange problem after a year of more or less good service. I recently sent it back to have a fluttering screen replaced under warranty, got it back and reinstalled all my files from a back-up and everything was peachy except:

When I play a DVD, CD or even a media file from the HD on it I get static and a sort of raspy buzzing to the sound and everything seems to be dragging time-wise, it sounds like a dusty LP record with someone pressing a finger to the thing to lag the sound.

I also no matter what I do to clean the registry and all get the new QuickTime and iTunes to install. All I can run is VLC, Real Player and Windows Media Player, abet with the static. I've done a good dozen tries with everything online I've found to purge everything Apple, reinstalled from new installers and no joy.

I started thinking well maybe it's a hardware problem but then it occurred to me to boot my Knoppix CD on it and try to play some of the AVI and MOV files that suddenly play with static and lo and behold no static.

Under Knoppix I've played a huge amount of MP3s as well and no static, lag, wobble or anything. If I didn't need a couple of XP only things I'm almost ready to go Linux all the way at this point, but alas...

I went back to the Toshiba XP boot, reinstalled all the drivers I could and there's still the static. My only option is to backup and erase the drive as there isn... Read more

Hey everyone, recently my Yoga 12 started making this intermittent loud buzzing sound. It seems to be the fan (when it gets hot) and occasionally comes and goes when using it. I'm not sure if there is a fix for this, so any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Answer:ThinkPad yoga 12 buzzing noise

I would contact the Lenovo Service center. My Yoga is so quiet that I can't here anything. However, I have the SSD not HDD. Mine also does not really get hot, but I did not play any heavy games on it neither.

Hi,I have a problem from the first day I bought this computer, couple of months ago. When I plugged headphones to the headphones connection, I sound static and really annoying noise from them. Sometimes it stops, but whenever I play sound in the computer it always in the background. After a bit of researching I found that what cause this is the Nvidia drivers that installed, when I disable them, it stops. How can I fix this? I don't want to keep these drivers disabled since I need to use the Nvidia video graphic from time to time.(btw I tried to switch between Realtek drivers to windows generic drivers, It didn't work) Thanks in advance!

Hi.
Welcome to the forums.

Can you please post the full model number of you Thinkpad? Are you using Windows 10?

I have a TP Y 14 (20DM008UUS) with one of those ThinkPad In-Ear Headphones (57Y4488) (and Windows 10 64bits) and I don't apreciate any static sound while hearing music or videos.

How are you disabling the Nvidia drivers, from Windows Device Manager? Disabling the NVidia display adapter worked for you to remove the noise sound?

I always try to keep the Thinkpad Yogas driver up to date. Do you want to give it a try updating the Nvidia and the Realtek drivers?

Let me know your model number and we will check the support page for the latest drivers.

Regards

Hey! Im working in a quiet environment and can hear the screen buzzing when the fan is not running( Thanks to the good thermal management, its hardly running at a office work load). The buzzing sound, though, is far more annoying to me than the fan because its so high pitched. The buzzing occurs at less than 100% brightness down to about 40%. Its most annoying at 70% , which is the perfect daylight brightness setting in my opinion.  The 2 Yogas I've had , had this issue. Production dates were 12/21/2013 and 01/14/2014. Can other yoga 2 pro owners test it on their machines ( you`ll need a quiet enviroment) and it would be great if Lenovo could make a statement concerning this issue as well. Could this be fixed by a Bios or driver update ? I really wanna know if its worth to return my Yoga for a new one or if this is a general issue.

Answer:Yoga 2 Pro Screen buzzing sound at less than 100% Brightness

I experience exactly the same issue, also 70% is the worst. Seems like faulty/bad quality voltage regulator for LED backlight.

When I turn on my Yoga, I sometimes get a static sound. It's happened when plugged in, when on battery, when fully charged, when ~60% charged, and doesn't always happen. Does anybody know what this is?

The microphone on my Gembird MHS-200 usb headset doesn't work properly. Whenever I try to record I get an annoying buzzing/static sound overlapping my voice. But this only happens on Windows 7 (I've tried it with Debian Linux and I get no interference whatsoever), and only when my other USB devices are connected (mouse, keyboard). I've also tried connecting the other USB devices to the front USB ports leaving the headset the only USB device connected a the back of my PC (and vice versa), but it didn't help.

Updating the drivers also didn't help as the headset uses drivers provided by Windows 7.

Can anyone help me plz?

I got my Y50 shipped to me today and everything seems to be perfect except it has this weird buzzing/static noise coming from the right side of the computer. It seems to be torwards the headphone jack but I can't seem to get rid of it. I've tried uninstalling realtek drivers and using the default high def audio from microsoft but the sound still persist from the moment I turn my pc on and to the moment I turn it off (doesn't matter if I plug in a headphone, noise still persists). I also updated my bios, graphics, audio, bluetooth to the latest version on the Lenovo website and it's still buzzing. My best guess would be that it's coming from the hard drive but I could be wrong. Can anyone please help me out with this problem? I'm also curious if anyone else has the same problem as me.

Newbie here with my first post....I just did a RAM upgrade to my Dell Dimension 8100 from 256GB to 1.256GB. When I turned the computer back on, when the windows music would normally play, it now plays static. Any other event where there would be a sound/wav file, same thing...buzzing or static sound. When I try to play a CD, no sound at all. I have a turtle beach santa cruz sound card which i took out and reinserted. This is my first post on here. Otherwise, the perforance of the computer works great with the new memory. Thanks in advance for any assitance.

Answer:Sounds are buzzing / distorted static

The version of Windows would be a help in resolving this to sum degree. Most likely, a
failure occurred in Windows detection where the drivers were not installed completely,
or a faulty card is the case. Your mention of removing the card with a reinstallation is
also a possible factor if esd(electrostaticdischarge) precautions were not taken. It can
take a split second to permanently damage pc hardware without realizing it. With the
card still in the case, remove all software and drivers for Windows to detect the card
afterwards on a system restart. Before the initial reboot, right click on the MyComputer
icon or enter the control panel to double click the system icon. Once this is done, open
the hardware manager to scroll down to the sound devices catagory. Upon opening it
up, look for the name of your card to see if there are any yellow exclamation marks on
the sound card device listing. If so, choose the "update driver" option to manually use
that browser to install drivers off of the software cd. If this is effective, the software
removal won't be needed. If it fails, return there and choose the uninstall or "remove"
option to have Windows delete the listing. Upon a reboot,, allow Windows to redetect
the sound card and ask for the needed drivers as you see the "new hardware found"
popup message. If Windows installs the drivers readily and there is still no sound after,
the most likely cause is a device failure. The 9x versions of WIndows... Read more

hi all.

Im recently having problems with my microphone making a lovely static/ buzzing sound. I use ventrilo and was alerted to it by some angry guildmates, and when i made it so I can hear my own microphone I can hear it myself.

I have updated to the latest VIA audio drivers from Asus and have tried removing them/using windows defaults and Im still having the same problems. Ie im sure its a hardware issue.

I have tried a different microphone, and I have tried both microphones in both the front/back ports but Im still getting it.

I heard updating my chipset could fix this but this hasnt worked either and Im getting slowly more and more frustrated with this. Someone did suggest to me its a grounding loop issue but I really dont have the foggiest what this is or what to do about it.

thanks in advance, prza

Hi, just got my Thinkpad Yoga 14 (20DM009GUS). I am bothered with two problems: (a) the CPU temperature is between 40-45 C (idle) to 45-60 C (web surfing) and it's quite unconfortable on lap (too hot), and (b) there is an annoying squeak sound if pulling or pushing the left side. Does anyone experience similar problems? I am just curious whether these are just my machine's problem.  Any suggestions to solve these problems will be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.

Anyone got an issue with the keyboard? Sometimes when I type using the keyboard, it make a sound, coming from the speaker. I have no idea what happen. The keyboard function as normal, apart from making random noise through the speaker somehow. And it happens for the alphabet buttons only. I tried to pinpoint what makes the noise and if certain buttons trigger it, but so far, looks like it is random and any button can trigger it.

Since I've installed Windows 10 on my ThinkPad Yoga S1 (20C0-S0AX00), I've never been able to get audio via HDMI working. In theory, it looks like it's all fine: ? In practice, however, no audio is transmitted via HDMI (I tried it with different monitors), and the video signal of any application trying to play audio over HDMI is stuttering ? as if it's trying to sync audio and video, but failing for some reason. As soon as the output device is changed, the video plays smoothly again. Changing the "Default Format" did not change anything. Currently, "16 bit, 48000 Hz (DVD quality)" is selected. A support ticket I opened quickly after upgrading to Windows 10 promised a driver update to fix this. A more recent ticket advised me to revert to the stock Windows 8.1 installation instead, which I refuse to do. Does anyone have an idea how to fix this issue?

Answer:ThinkPad Yoga S1 - No sound via HDMI on Windows 10

Hi

I have a different Thinkpad Yoga. Checking your issue I wonder if you would like to do some "trial and error" like:

1) Try a different HDMI cable, you never know.
2) Check the driver version of you Intel Display Audio. Here it is mine:
?
3) Just in case check the Lenovo Support site for your model and try updating the Intel Video and Realtek drivers just in case.

This is only that cames to my mind right now.

So I'm really at a loss with this issue.  I've done so much troubleshooting to no avail.  Removed soundcard and bluetooth and reinstalled.  Installed new drivers.  Deleting and repairing devices. Changing the WiFi to "Prefer 5.2GHz band".  Other troubleshooting based on discussions on other forums... The Problem. Brand new Thinkpad P71.  I have two of the same external speakers I've used with my iPhone via Bluetooth to stream audio and never had a problem.  The speakers are the Oontz 3XL. When I connect with my P71, it can go 24 hours or two minutes, but it will just suddenly stop playing audio.  The blue light on the speaker will turn off.  To get it to work again, I'll have to close the audio app and reconnect the Bluetooh.  Then it will run for anywhere from one minute to 24 hours and disconnect again. I also just bought a brand new Thinkpad X1 Yoga (2nd gen).  Exact same problem.  Did all the same troubleshooting. I mostly stream Sirius XM from a browser (and have tried different browsers as well).  I also play audio from iTunes.  The weird thing with iTunes is that when this happens, the Play/Pause button in the software will also stop working, unless I close the app and restart. It's definitely a Lenovo problem, since I am encountering the same problem on both systems.  I don't know if this could be related to BitDefender and/or Malware Bytes (both are inst... Every time I watch something in my laptop whether it's a movie in a media player or when I watch a video at You Tube, I hear slight sounds of buzzing, crackles and static at times. It's not loud but it's still very annoying. It comes and goes such as every ten minutes for a few minutes and when those few minutes are up it comes back again about ten minutes later. At first I thought one of my media players needed sorting and it does all this with other media players. Then it got more interesting when it started doing it at You Tube as well. Can somebody help me fox this problem please? Thanks.

Answer:Problems With Buzzing, Crackles & Static Sounds During Playback

Are you using the laptop's own speakers? Could you try external speakers? Maybe a problem with your laptop's speakers - attaching external ones would confirm or eliminate that possibility.

My brand new toshiba laptop is constantly producing a strange buzzing/static noise which appears to be coming from the fan.

I am not sure if this is the case with all of these models but it is quite annoying and I am worried that something could be wrong with the laptop.

Please can anybody help me on this one?
What may be causing the strange noise?

As I said it appears to be coming from the fan but I am not 100% sure.

Answer:Satellite C50-A-1DV makes strange static/buzzing noise

Did you notice this buzzing/static noise while heavy fan rotation?

To me it?s very difficult to say if it?s a ?common? fan noise or unusual noise which could be related to cooling module problems.

At the other hand you are not 100% sure if this noise is coming from the fan? so I think we are groping in the dark?

From my point of few the notebook is new and if you are unsure if there is some hardware problem, you should ask a service engineer for and check.

Sorry mate but at this point i have no other "solution" for you :(

I'll cut to the chase....

Lenovo T430 Laptop, Window 7 sp1, 64 bit

Just today this started. I haven't had any issues before. When playing anything audio (e.g., YouTube, ZeroPunctuation, MP4, MP3, any audio) there is the occasional buzzing/static/cracking noise (kinda like what you'd hear fiddling with a headphone jack) coming from the speakers. It happens regardless of volume (hardware volume, or software setting), or whether I'm using the laptops speakers or headphones (I've tried with various headphones, including some quality BOSE) making me conclude it's not the tweeter or cone of the speaker itself.

So far I've tried updating all the platforms like Flash to see if the issue was that. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Realtek driver, disabling/renabling through Device Manager and restarting, and even using the Troubleshoot Audio Playback.

This is driving me insane as having good audio is a major component of my daily activities. Thank for the help

When a Windows 8 ThinkPad Yoga is connected to a ThinkPad OneLink Pro Dock (Model DU9033S1) which has a sound cable placed into its headphone jack, every few seconds the sound will alternate between the laptop speakers and the docking station. It appears that the connection to the docking station is briefly lost (sound comes from laptop speakers), and then re-established (sound goes to docking station). However, during this "disconnect/connect", all other aspects of the docking station are unaffected (video, network, USB).

Updating BIOS, audio drivers, dock drivers & firmware have had no impact. If sound cable is removed from dock, then behaves normally (sound goes to dock only). Happens with multiple Thinkpad Yogas and multiple docking stations.

I do too! However I noticed, oddly enough, that the phenomenon goes away when I plug the thing into AC power. Also, when I first upgraded to W10, there were some major changes to the sound capabilites - I could watch a YouTube video comfortably at maybe 4 in W8.1 while I had to crank it up past 80 in W10. After updating to W10v1511 this issue has since been fixed, and the volume of this hissing has also decreased.I tried a good many things too. Reinstalling the sound drivers, and all that.

I explained this on other forum so  I'll just copy it here: "I've got some odd behavior with sounds. It could be normal, I don't know. I hear a faint click sound before and after some sound, for example windows alert sound. Just go to sound options in control panel and play those notification sounds. I hear it like this: first faint clik, then the actual sound, then click again. This happens with speakers and headphones. Have anyone else experienced this? One example of watching youtube videos. When the video starts, first I hear a click and then comes the sound. There's also quite audible hiss when the soundcard switches on. When I pause the video, after about 10 seconds another click and the soundcard switches off, also the hiss is gone. Maybe the audio output is just so bad and that's why there's so much hiss or white noise." It's pretty similar problem than with this post T510 audio speakers clicking before & after all samples played & mutingExcept it happens with speakers and headphones and I don't hear clicking when muting or unmuting. Is there something that can be done or is my sound output faulty?

I purchased a Flex 2-14 on Saturday (April 4th 2015). It was a display model in the shop, meaning that I was able to pick it up for about $380. Other than a few (semi-deep) scratches, it was otherwise fine until I set it up. First of all, the ESC key seems to be almost permanently stuck, which is strange, since there doesn't seem to be anything holding or sticking it down. This is the only key that appears to be stuck and one that I would usually use quite often.Secondly, a strange static/buzzing noise began to erupt from the system quite quickly (within one hour of use).In the lower left corner, there appears to be a light shining through, which is quite annoying in almost any screen (especially dark ones). Especially now that it has been noticed.Lastly, the battery decreases by 1% within 2 minutes while browsing, and otherwise once every 3 minutes if I have absolutely nothing running, causing the battery to last no longer than 2 - 3 hours on power saver mode. The system is currently running on power saver mode, with the backlight dimmed to it's lowest. I have turned off bluetooth and all unnecessary background programmes, yet it hasn't helped much. I suppose my main question is whether my warranty will be able to help this? I've read similar complaints about the system and I doubt that this is something that can be fixed, unless I blatantly get my money back. It definitely wouldn't have been worth full-price. The only pro that it has when compared to my old A... Read more

Question: My yoga is buzzing

I was reading about this thing called "Coil whine" , is like the sound of a  little - super - tiny keychain. I read about this noise in a couple of topics here, and i found two solutions : 1- http://support.microsoft.com/kb/975530/en-us2- http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/IdeaPad-IdeaTab-Slate-Tablets/High-pitched-tone-with-fan-noise/td-p/9404... The second solution works fine, the sound stopped, but, the cool fan works all the time, the laptop is overheating and is affecting the battery life . Can someone explaing me what is the reason of this little "keychain" sound? is it something wrong with the laptop? is it the cool fan? is it the motherboard? Is there any solution or patch ? This two options seems to solve the problem, but , like i said, i'm having some troubles with the battery life and the cool fan working all the time and overheating. thanks in advance.

Stumbled upon this trying to fix my static and it helped it out a bit, not 100% though but thought i would share it.

Anyways;

goto your playback devices > click your speaker properties > advanced > and change the default format to a higher setting, such as 24 bit, 48000hz (studio quality)

thats it, and of course you can play around; if you have an alright sound-system you can tweak your eq. settings and such to compensate for playback quality.

A consistent, loud buzzing sound is coming from the fan of my computer. It's quite loud and can only be alleviated by either turning the computer off or rotating it 90 degrees to the left. Any ideas on how to address this issue? I had this same problem about a month ago but it seemed to resolve itself until starting again a week ago.

Just built a new computer, and everything went smooth except that a small but sometimes very noticeable buzzing comes out my headphones. I cant really explain it other than its a high pitched buzz, that changes frequency depending on whats on my screen. On the desktop, or web browser its very fast, while when I go into a game it slows down but becomes louder. And when something is loading, as in when i bring up firefox, it pauses for a second, then continues buzzing, or when loading a game, at the loading screen it is completely quiet, then when I am in game, it continues. Another wierd thing is, if I am scrolling through a long webpage or text file really fast, the buzz will vary depending on how fast Im scrolling.
I actually had to take my sub woofer out because i t was amplifying the buzz probably almost 20-fold, so I'm going straight from headphones to the computer.
Also, changing the sound volume on the computer does not change the buzz.

Now, as far as I know, i have the latest sound drivers, I went to my motherboards website, and downloaded the audio driver for the gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L. Other than that I dont know what else it could be.
Here's a dxdiag, if that helps.

Back around the first of the year I sent my xps 17 L1702x back to the depot to replace a bad motherboard. Ever since then I have noticed a buzzing sound in the speakers when the volume is half way up or louder. I can press down on the top of the hand rest area, and the buzzing stops Has anyone else experienced this problem? I would hate to have to send the computer back to the depot for this but it's driving me crazy!

I build this computer back in February and since then it makes a loud buzzing sound at startup for about 45 seconds.  It is an i7 build with a Gigabyte MB.  The sound only comes on bootup and then goes away.  I have a url below to a sound clip of the noise.  The noise is quite loud and the file does not do it justice but it gives an idea of what the issue might be.  I have already ruled out the noise coming from any fans or the power supply.  It seems to be coming from the video card area.  Any help in diagnosing the issue would be great. Thank you!http://www.zshare.net/audio/665884516760588b/

Answer:Buzzing sound on startup (w/sound clip)

Open up the case and see if you can locate where that sound is coming from.If it's coming from the hard drive, I'd back up your data immediately while it still works and replace the drive. It's also possible that it could just be a fan that's faulty. Those are easily and cheaply replaced.

Hi, I got new problem with my 2nd laptop.
The problem is hard to solve.
My sound card, everything is alright.
I can hear sound very well.
But the problem is, i hear BIOS booting sound-"Beep!"ing instead
of system error sound(like when you type "abcdefg" in run, low piano tone sound comes out with
X mark error msg).
That's all the problem i got.
Only error sound is the problem.
My sound card driver is alright.
How do i solve this problem?

Answer:Buzzing sound comes out instead of normal error sound

Please post your computer model/brand. Usually the manufacturing support site has documentations on beep codes. How many beeps do you hear?

I put my headphones in the jack today and heard a weird background noise. When I removed them, the computer speakers were making a loud buzzing noise as well.  The buzzing noise comes and goes and disappears if I mute the computer's volume.  I cannot hear any audio on my computer now (no music, videos, noise at start up/shut down, etc.). I have tried updating the sound drivers and restarting the computer several times, but to no avail.  I have also tried to get sound with and without external speakers attached, with and without headphones in, etc. and I can only occassionally get the loud buzzing noise which is coming directly from both of the speaker vents on the bottom of the computer.  Thoughts on a solution?

Hi,

When I connect Thinkpad Yoga (model 20CD00B1US) to the onelink dock, the stylus stops working.

In order to enable the stylus and Wacom driver following 2 options/ workarounds:
1)  Manually stop and restart the Wacom ISD Service
2) or reboot the machine while the Onelink dock is attached.

I'm using the latest 7.2.0-4 Wacom driver version, all latest lenovo software installed installed on the machine.

Both above mentioned workarounds are ugly, does anybody have a better suggestion to fix this issue?

Answer:ThinkPad Yoga Stylus stops working after connecting Yoga to Onelink dock

Had the same issue - a BIOS update just release about a week ago fixed it for me.

I posted a similar question earlier and people referred me to the Yoga (much appreciated).  However, I was interested in the 2.6 lb carbon version with touch screen capabilities.  Asus has a Spin 7 model that is very good at 2.65lb, but I miss the red mouse toggle in the middle of the keyboard and Asus's track pad was designed too large....causing unintended tapping.  The Yoga, while nice, is heavier than I was looking for.  The 14 inch screen is about 3.3lb? the 12 inch at 3? I thought that some of the earlier Thinkpad Carbons had touch screen and was hoping they would make a return soon.  Thanks,

After unplugging my laptop, I realized that the problem sound only occurred while my laptop was plugged in. Has anyone else had this problem?

I am having sound trouble. The sound is cutting out. Sometime it works fine. Recently, it will just cut out, stay really low are only be static. IT happens with music and also when I am video chatting. Someone may be talking and the sound will just go really low or cut out completely.  I have had technicians reinstall all drivers and it will work sometimes but not all the time. Sound seems to work fine with headphones.

Hi, I am new to this site and wondering if I can get some advice. I just purchased the 20DM009Gus (thinkpad yoga 14) from this site when it was on sale the other day, however I was just given an offer for the 20DK0023us (thinkpad yoga 12) which was the size I originally wanted, for the same price. I know each have their pros and cons, but I am wondering if anyone has first hand advice with either or both devices to help me decide which I really should choose? Thanks!

Answer:A Decision Between Thinkpad Yoga 12 and Thinkpad Yoga 14, help?!

Hi chiakri.

I have a TPY 14 (20DM008UUS) and I'm happy with this model. I didn't not compare it to the TPY 12, but mine is working fine and have no issues. It didn't came with a pen, but it supports "Active pen", so I bought a Thinkpad Pen Pro and it worked fine.

I prefer to stick with the 14" screen but that is more about personal prefence. Maybe if you like to use it very much on tablet mode with a pen, possible the 12" will be more confortable to hold as a book.. but I'm just guessing.

I am hhaving difficulty finding an acceptable scaling mix between resolution, system scaling, and edge scaling. At 1080p, 125%, 125%, os navigation is mostly fine, but edge text is way too large. At 1080p, 125%, 100%, edge text is way too small. At all combinations text is inflated (but crisp) in certain elements while fuzzy in others. What scaling combinations work best for you? I am considering returning this to Best Buy and upgrading to a Pro 4 / Book, or even a Mac. The scaling is ruining an otherwise great experience.

Hey guys, I'm a PreMed student who's life revolves around his laptop. I'm always on social media, watching some show, listening to music, doing an essay, taking notes, updating some website, or emailing some person on campus. Of course, my old laptop broke. It was a Dell Inspiron. Now, I have a campus job and have been saving money(so money is not factor necessarily). After researching my options, I've narrowed my choices down to the three previously listed laptops. I just want to know which do you guys suggest and why?

Answer:Surface Book vs Lenovo Yoga 900 vs ThinkPad X1 Yoga

By looking at your requirement, you prefer on-the-go PC that lets you do all that on a decent budget, SP4 is better than SB(if you want lightweight device and decent battery life), Lenovo's are pretty good too. X1 w/o OLED seems to be a better buy in terms of ultraportability and battery life. You could wait for others to chime in.

Question: Buzzing Sound

I have a Lenovo ideacentre 700-27ISH AIO.  The computer has been working fine until recently when it developed a "buzzing" sound.  I've run a hardware scan on the storage devices and they passed all tests. About the only thing left that I can think of that might cause this sound would be the fan, but there are no tests for that component that I am aware of. My unit is still under warranty. Should I file a service request? Has anyone encountered this buzzing problem and if so, what was the solution?

Answer:Buzzing Sound

 Hi fairmarketvalue ,

Greetings.

Would that be a constant buzzing noise or intermittent?
Would it also be heard in BIOS ?
To access the BIOS restart and tap on F1  ,

There also would fan on the power supply unit aside from the systemboard to consider .
Is the sound coming from the back or more at the inside?

You can run a temperature test if the noise would also happen on a particular teperature using this .

Having those above check would help identify needed parts for repair .

You may call tech support for the recommended repair service.

Question: Sound buzzing

Hello everyone im having issues with my motherboard soundcard because i have recently purchased a new keyboard that had the cables to connect into the soundboard, when i plugged them in the volume increased and a buzzing sound was noticeable. I downgraded the soundboard to another driver and the volume went low again and the buzzing sound almost dissapeared but still there, you can notice it when you use the volume from windows, from 0 to 1 there you can notice a little buzzing sound, and my question is if its a electric failure or ai can fix it with anything else. Thank you for your support.

Answer:Sound buzzing

Many wires and cables and more chance of electrical interference. It also depends on signal to noise ratio, top notch device have it high and other ones so-so. Make sure cables are not close to power cables and other inductive stuff.

I'm using a desktop computer, my computer was allright till this morning. After i click a link which was sent by my friend, Then suddenly my pc fan come out so loud like buzzing sound while running the fan, I tried to off the pc and on agian, it still have it. If anybody know how to deal with this. Help pls

Answer:Buzzing sound on Pc fan

It could be that something (like a wire) has found worked its way near the fan and is just touching the fan blades. The fan itself could be on its way out.

I would suggest, opening up the case and starting the PC to identify exactly which fan is causing the noise. Have a look around it and make sure nothing is near / in the fan blades (clean out the inside while you are there).

HELLO,
I have a HP t650 UK Pavilion desktop computer that has been upgraded to Microsoft Windows 7
The mother board is the ASUS K8N8X-la and the sound chip is a Realtek AC 97 Audio. All the audio works fine with the exception of the Microsoft Studio Life web cam. When this is connected to say Skype or Messenger the audio is fine and at the correct volume, but there there is permanent buzz and crackle on the speakers and earphones.
I know the web cam is ok as it works perfectly on other computers I have checked in the device manager and the Motherboard and the sound chip drivers are up to date.
I would be grateful if anyone can help me with this problem.
Thank you
Jaysto

Answer:Buzzing sound using web cam

Using the inbuilt audio in the Studio Life web cam, if you are getting the crackling sounds, my first suggestion would be to turn down the sensitivity of the web cam. As you say it works fine on other desktops, it is probably just the software on your desktop that is making the sensitivity too high (picking up background noise).

Another thought is that noise might be from your desktop, if the web cam is sitting on the desktop. Trying moving it away from the computer.

To be clear; It only happens when speakers are on & is a sample of a fly / bee buzzing therefore it's coming off the soundcard, not a mechanical fault with fan or some such problem. It comes and goes intermittently. I guess this is a virus type problem. Does anyone know how to get rid of it?

Answer:Why is there a fly buzzing sound on my PC?

Try replacing your cables or use headphones for a while and see if you get the same sound coming out. This way you can at least try some minor trouble shooting and weed out the issue a bit. "The great mass of people ... will more easily fall victim to a big lie than to a small one" A.H

Question: A Buzzing Sound

This has been an ongoing problem for the last month or so.

I've been hearing some irregular sounds from my computer lately. An unusual buzzing sound. I'm thinking that it's from the fan and the computer possibly overheating.

Also just tonight, the computer shut down by itself. I checked the power light, and the light was blinking on and off.

I wanted to know what the problem was.

I'm running an HP Pavilion 6370Z/Windows '98

Answer:A Buzzing Sound

Take the side of your panel off your computer case and look at your fans. You may need to clean the dust out of your computer or get new fan(s). The computer probably turned off because it over heated.

Question: Buzzing sound

Occasionally I'll be on the internet and the hard drive makes the sound it does when it reboots, then it starts buzzing- the buzzing stops once I begin to shutdown.

There was a message during bootup, something about something being greater than the BIOS.

I assume its the hard drive but I'm also wondering if it's a fan.

Any ideas? It's a Compaq P4, recently upgraded the ram and video card.

Answer:Buzzing sound

I dont think HDD will produce that kind of sound. DVD produces some noise, so do fans. There is absolutely nothing to worry about.

Right, so I have a cable that has a headphone plug on one end (for the laptop) and an RCA AV end to plug into my receiver or amp. I get a buzzing sound everytime (with some recognisable noise). Not likely a hardware issue, but I was curious as to know whether or not someone would know the cause of this sound.

I'm not an expert in this  but maybe it's an earth problem - have you tried a different cable,  or plugging the cable in to another amp ( or another input on the same amp?)

Three times within the last 5 weeks my computer turned off after receiving a static shock from my finger. One time I was able to push the power button and get it to turn back on. However the other times the computer has died completely and shows no lights. Once I had to take it somewhere for them to take out the battery and reseat it and then it seem to work. The other  just happened so I have not had the opportunity to see if that same thing will fix it . This does not seem normal to me especially since I've had the computer for two-and-a-half years and this has just started happening. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Guys, For the Yoga 2 Pro owners out there, how much static do you have in your headphone jack?  I am loving everything about this laptop except for some noticeable static at low volumes and some backlight bleeding at the bottom of the screen.  I have tried two different headsets, my Senheiser HD 280 Pros and my Etymotic earbuds. I am curious how everyone elses behaves.  If this is normal I can probably live with it.  If I am the only one, I may get it replaced.  Build date 11/06/2013, purchased from Lenovo's website. Thanks,Dan

Answer:Yoga 2 Pro Static/Noise in Headphone Jack

Just wanted to add a little bit more detail to this. I just experienced the problem where you plug in your headphones but the audio stops playing. When I plugged the headphones in, there is no noise in the line. Perfectly clean. When I mute and unmute from the keyboard, the audio starts playing again, along with the static.I have the default format set to 24 bits, 192000 Hz. The static noise is present in all options but at 24 bits, 44100 Hz I also get a slight whistle. This plus the mute/unmute fix leads me to believe this is a software issue. If it were a ground issue, I would expect it to always be present?

I have two staff members with different Yoga models, but with the same pen issue. Say, for instance, OneNote is open. The pen doesn't draw or write, but it can select and still be recognized. When I try using an old stylus from an HP Elitebook, it works TOTALLY fine - even the button on the pen functions properly. This suddenly started after months of the Lenovo pens working fine. I thought maybe it was a driver issue, but it can't be as the HP pen works.... I'm thinking it's the pen itself just getting worn down? It looks okay though but may be just a little loose... Disclosure:  I received these laptops from Lenovo as part of their advocacy program, so huge thanks to the folks over at Lenovo. I don't receive compensation for my review, and as always, all opinions are my own.

The ThinkPad X1 Yoga is first modern ThinkPad that I've ever owned.  I?ve been using Lenovo?s Ideapad lineup for a very long time, and while I?ve used ThinkPads in the past, the X1 Yoga will be my first personal ThinkPad that I own.  So how does it stack up to the Yoga 910?  Let?s find out! I have the i7 UHD model of the Yoga 910 and the i5 FHD model of the ThinkPad X1 Yoga.  I tried out the latest Yoga 920, but I haven?t tried the latest X1 Yoga yet? hopefully, I will!

Hardware & Design
Even though both laptops carry ?yoga? in their name, the hardware behind them is vastly different.  The ThinkPad X1 Yoga has the classic ThinkPad black design, which is made of a carbon-fiber hybrid for the top cover and a magnesium-PPS hybrid for the bottom cover.  The Yoga 910 has a similar design from the Lenovo?s Yoga lineup, with an aluminum build throughout.

The ThinkPad only comes in two colors: classic black and silver; whereas the Yoga has a whole suite of colors to choose from, such as silver, copper, bronze, and even a few exclusive designs, such as the Vibe designs for the Yoga 920 and the Star Wars themed designs for the Yoga 910.

Hello, I hear a buzzing noise in my headhones when plugged into the headphone jack of my aspire 5760-6025. I can fix the issue by running the driver update executable file Vista_Win7_R249.exe However when i do this i can see no stereo mix channel under my recording devices on windows 7 64-bit. I need to see this option because I am a musician and I need to record the sound I hear on my computer, in order to capture the effects within the live recordings I do. I can do this if I update the driver with the Vista_Win7_R249 exported to program files folder named realtek then update the drivers through the device manager. However when I do this I get the buzzing noise again. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:realtek buzzing sound

Since no one responded perhaps im not asking the right questions. Why would the exe version of the realtek drivers install differntly then updating the driver in the device manager and selecting the unzipped folder? The difference between the two things is this: one is you can see the stereo mix within the recording devices, and the other one is the buzzing noise. When updating the drivers from device manager I have both the stereo mix and the buzzing noise, the .exe driver download i have no stereo mix and no buzzing noise. What makes these install differently? The drivers can be found at: http://www.realtek.com/Downloads/downloads...p;GetDown=false (hit accept to see the latest driver downloads) I downloaded both the zip and exe version for windows 7. If anyone knows the answers to the above questions or knows information about the stereo mix and the buzzing noise, please post, any info might lead to a solution thanks again, cody

For some reason, when I booted up my PC this morning, it was going quite slow, in comparison to yesterday, and there was a strange buzzing sound coming through my headphones. I shut down my PC, and booted it up again. Then I got the message that recent Hardware or Software changes made my computer not boot. I clicked further through the options I got from then, and it booted regularly. It was still slow, and I was still getting a the sound.

I also got got a strange crackling sound through my headphones the last week while booting up (when the white text on black screen goes away, it started, and when everything was running, it stopped), but that's gone now.

I switched my headphones for my boxes, and I still got it. After some research, I came to the conclusion it might be that I'm getting "dirty power" or something, but I have no clue what that means. This is the first time this happened.

I have not changed, added or removed any hardware in my PC for the last 4 months, and the only recent application I recall installing was the video game Dragon Age: Origins, 2 days ago.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Nolton.

Have you tried installing that latest sounds drivers and video drivers? was this doing it before you install Dragon Age?

The buzzing sound is intermittent. It increases and decreases in volume. Is independent of the speaker volume. But disappears with the speakers off.

Hello guys i signed up just to ask you about my problem which is ongoing for a year now.

The problem is when i play games like Battlefield 4,Arma 3 and lots of heavy games i don't really have any problems. But there are some games that causes my pc to freeze with a really loud buzzing coming from my headphones and requires me to restart my computer. For example Total War Rome 2,Shadow of Mordor,Grid Autosport,Splinter Cell: Blacklist are the ones that caused this to happen. The weird thing is,i was having this problem 2 months ago while playing Rome 2,and now i can play Rome 2 as long as i want without having this problem, but 4 months ago i could play Grid Autosport as long as i want without that problem but nowadays i'm having this problem while playing Grid Autosport. The freezing appears randomly, sometimes 30 minutes in to the game, sometimes after 3 hours of gameplay.I can't predict when its going to happen. If i'm to describe it more clearly, the freezing starts with little buzz sounds and mouse starts to slow down, then system gets to a full freeze with loud buzzing noise from my headphones.
My System:

i7 3770k
GTX780 AMP!
Gigabyte GA-Z77M-D3H
16 GB Corsair Ram
850W Raidmax PSU

FYI if you think this is a heat related problem,i am certain that its not a heat related problem..Because this happens no matter how hot my CPU & GPU is when the computer freeze.I did both prime95 and furmark tests for 1 hour,no problem occured.I even formatted my PC 2 mont... Read more

Hi all,

I recently brought a hiper 580w type-R PSU around a week ago, i have fitted it and it has been fine for a week, all of a sudden it has developed a buzzing noise coming from round the back next to the 80mm PSU. I have done some troubleshooting myself and found that if i shut down my PC there is still a small (annoying ) electrical noise coming from the PSU. I swith the main switch off from the PSU and the 80mm fan stops and the noise goes (obviously) when i swith JUST the PSU back on the noise reappears. Fan stays off.

Now if i turn my PC on the noise becomes slightly louder, it also becomes more louder when i am scrolling, mainly in Internet explorer when i am on the internet.

Is this a PSU fault? there is a 3 year warrenty on the unit so i'm not to worried if it is faulty, but i don't need the hassle of sending it back and waiting for a new one, especially if they want all the cables and stuff back!

Answer:PSU buzzing sound, is it faulty?

that buzzing sound is the capacitors or the resistors from ur PSU or from ur CRT monitor. What it does is it vibrates and creates a buzzing sound. BTW why does ur fan still spin while the system is off?!i!? To me sounds like its surged by a electrical spike and its gonna fail soon.
I would sent the PSU back A.S.A.P.

Ok folks, I got a weird one for you. There is a buzzing sound coming from the MOBO... NOT the FAN !

Anyone ever heard of this before ?

When powered on, it doesn't start right away. It starts a couple of minutes after powering on the machine.

Once again its not the fans.

Any Ideas ???

My X61 battery died few weeks ago after 18 months. Now comes the high pitch buzzing noise from inside. I suspect the fan, since I have not seen the HD indicator blinking. Since my warranty expired, I guess nothing Lenovo can do. Moderator note: Type added to subject line for clarity. Message Edited by Agotthelf on 24-04-2009 09:42 AM

I have a Dell DImension Desktop (not a big Dell fan, but it was free, it's my only PC). Anyway, lately at startup I've been hearing a terrible grinding noise from insode the computer, it usually quiets down a bit later after startup, but a grinding/buzzing noise is always there to some degree.

I immediatly figured it was a HD problem, that the HD was grinding. I went to staples and picked up a new 80GB maxtor HD and installed it (removed the old one entirely). I re-installed windows at that point but the grinding noise IS STILL THERE! The noise is basically identical so I am starting to think that it was neve a HD issue, if it wasn't what else could possibly be grinding like that!? Maybe a fan somewhere? I'm not completely computer illiterate, but I obviously have no clue what's going on, please help me!

-Ben

PS_ if it helps im running off of a GeForce FX 5200 256 MB Vid Card (ya, I know it's not the greatest), I havea GIG of staple's RAM and that's a bout all I think you'll need, plz help me out here!

Answer:GRINDING/BUZZING SOUND.....is it the HD or..?(HLP!)

I just bought my laptop and after I started to play some videos, there is a random buzzing sound coming from the speakers. After I stopped the videos, it's still there. It is not very loud but I can always hear it. How should I fix it? I've tried restarting the laptop but it still doesn't work. Thanks!

Answer:Buzzing sound from speakers?

Hi, well the buzzing sound can be a problem with the hardware, update the drivers for audio from hp.com and connect external speakers or headphones and check if the buzz persists on the external speakers too , if there is no buzzing sound in the external speaker , then its the hardware problem , call hp for repair , if there is a buzzing sound on the external speaker too , then it must be a software problem , run a recovery to check  steps to run a recovery power down the note book as soon as you hit the power button , keep tapping the esc key on the top left corner until a new window opens up(the start up menu ) choose the option f11 and choose the option trouble shooting, and run the option called recoveryNote: recovery  will cause all the data to be lost on your computer and makes the computer to go back to day 1 condition , try and back up the data before you run the recovery
