E430: Touchpad Clicking Randomly and Keyboard Malfunctioning

Question: E430: Touchpad Clicking Randomly and Keyboard Malfunctioning

Hello Lenovo Community, A few weeks ago, my touchpad on my e430 began left-clicking and right-clicking randomly. That is, it will click rapidly and repeatedly on whatever my cursor is hovering over, even if my fingers are not anywhere near the laptop. This is a huge nuisance, as it's rendered the laptop almost inoperable thanks to this clicking causing windows to open and close, internet ads to be clicked on, and the right click options bar popping up several times a second. In addition, I've noticed that my keyboard has begun to malfunction as well, seemingly in tandem with the touchpad problem. Specifically, many keys don't work--or work only part of the time. I've ran malware scans and virus scans and found nothing. I wonder if it might be related to moisture in the keyboard/touchpad area (the laptop became slightly wet due to a brief rain shower shortly before this problem began), but I am not sure. Can anyone provide insight on this problem and how I might fix it? I would greatly appreciate it. - LS

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: E430: Touchpad Clicking Randomly and Keyboard Malfunctioning

Hey Lenovo guys: please respond ro this question. It's a serious issue, and we need help. I replaced the HD with an SSD, tried a new memory card, and tried to adjust the settings on the trackpad. For some reason, I try to disable tapping and it keeps resetting the setting on its own. I think it might be a Lenovo software issue. Please advise.

I bought this laptop brand new two years ago and have had very minimal problems in that time. However, the keyboard has begun typing letters or numbers that do not correspond to the keys that I touch. Most keys result in the letter 6 being displayed. For example, I will type the previous sentence again but using the keyboard: 6666666666666666666666666666666666666666666. In addition to that, the touchpad is completely nonfunctioning. The cursor is not displayed anywhere on the screen and the touchpad is unresponsive. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

On occasion, for no apparent reason, my screen will rotate to any orientation. I have to put it into, and out of, sleep mode in order to get the orientation back to where needed. Also, on occasion, for no apparent reason, I lose the ability to use my touchpad and keyboard, and need to use the touchscreen in order to do anything. I also need to put it into, and out of, sleep mode in order to regain use of the touchpad and keyboard.  I've updated all software and drivers out of frustration, but nothing has helped. Help!!

For the past couple of weeks, the touchpad and keyboard on my laptop have either been shutting down randomly at different times or dont work at all when I start up. Sometimes both work, sometimes only my keyboard works, and then sometimes only my keyboard will work amd than eventually it will shut down too.I just want to know what could be causing this and if I can fix it on my own. I never had a problem like this before.

This has happened a lot since my upgrade to Windows 10, and it's really starting to get on my nerves. Seemingly randomly, my keyboard will stop responding to what I type, and my touchpad completely stops as well (no, I did not accidentally click to disable it). These problems will never resolve themselves on their own, but as soon as I reset the computer everything works again - to me, that sounded like a driver crash, but nope! I checked the driver menu and it told me everything was running just fine. What's even more strange is that I have the backlight keyboard enabled so that when I type, it lights up. And strangely, the keys still light up when I press them, so I know it's registering my typing SOME how.

You would also think that this would be a software problem since it fixes immediately upon reset, but I've noticed that this issue seems to crop up a lot right after I have moved my computer... I'm lost and I've scoured the internet for clues, but no one else seems to have this problem. Please help!

In order to possibly do testing on what is causing this (via suggestions hopefully, I've tried everything I can think of) I am purposely not resetting my computer (thankfully this is a touch screen, but this on-screen keyboard typing is obnoxious). Currently, both keyboard and touchpad don't work, but a usb mouse I use does (the computer is also set so that using the usb mouse does not disable the touchpad).

Ever since I've upgraded my dad's laptop to Windows 10, the keyboard and touchpad stop working randomly, and would work only after I restart the computer. (logging off, switch user, standby mode doesn't resolve it.)
There is no pattern to it. Sometimes it would be ok for a few days, sometimes it would happen again after a few hours. I mostly do internet browsing on the laptop.

When the problem occurred:
- The keyboard AND the touchpad would both stop working at the same time.
- USB mouse still works. (I do not have an external keyboard to test)
- The lights on the keys themselves (eg caps lock, wifi) would still remain on if they're activated but cannot be toggled on/off as usual.
- The device manager still showed no problems with the mouse or keyboard.

Things I've tried:
- sfc /scannow
- disabled sticky keys
- used the generic drivers for keyboard and touchpad
- reinstalled the drivers for keyboard and touchpad
- updated to the latest synaptics driver
- made a new synaptics trackpad profile
- disabled touchpad when using the USB mouse

Laptop stats:
HP Pavillion dm1-4002AU
Windows 10 Home 64bit (upgraded from Win7 and then reset to a fresh state)
AMD Radeon HD 6230 Graphics
6GB RAM
Synaptics Driver Version: 19.0.12.95 06Jul15
Synaptics PS/2 Port TouchPad
Lenovo ThinkPad PS/2 keyboard

This is very exasperating. I would appreciate some help in stopping this problem permanently, thanks.

Sometimes when I start up my computer, more often than not, when it brings me to my logon screen, I can't use the touchpad or the keyboard at all.  I have to physically touch the screen to let me put my pin in.  Still, neither work, so I end up shutting down and restarting, sometimes more than once, before the touchpad and keyboard start to work again.  I've had this problem for a couple of years now, have been in touch with support, and have also uninstalled and reinstalled my keyboard.  My warranty just expired of course.  I'm ready to throw this computer out of a window.

I've been recently encountering this problem where my touchpad and trackpoint are both unresponsive. I have been using an external mouse in conjunction with the touchpad in the past, but now the touchpad fails to work altogether. In the device manager, the ultranav pointing device is shown as disabled (although it is enabled) with the error "This device is not present, is not working properly, or does not have all its drivers installed. (Code 24)." I have tried downloading and installing the lastest drivers from Lenovo, but when I try to edit the mouse settings from the control panel I get a statement "Unable to connect to the Synaptics Pointing Device Driver. If you have installed another PS/2 Pointing Device please uninstall the Synaptics driver by clicking Yes. You then need to reinstall your pointing device for your external device again." There is also no Ultranav tab in the mouse settings.  I have no idea what to do now and I'm starting to get really frustrated with this issue. Help?

Answer:E430 Touchpad not working

Have you tried updating the driver through the UltraNav pointing device in Device Manager?  Can you go into BIOS and make sure it is enabled there?  (Keyboard/Mouse under Config)

Also, is it enabled in Control Panel>Hardware and Sound>Devices and Printers>Mouse>UltraNav?

Dear all, I own one Lenovo E430. By now he is running Windows7, fully patched and updated. My issue is related with ultra-high touching sensitivity of the TouchPad. The TouchPad can react even on cloth touch. This is problem for me, because I use TrackPoint, I don't have external keyboard and during high utilization extra unwanted clicks lead to unpredicted events. So, my question is how can I disable the Touchpoint. I've read several articles and there is no working solution for me. Thank for your help in advance !

Answer:Lenovo E430 Touchpad issue

Hi, Tsoch

If you navigate to Control Panel and select Mouse, a window should appear. Within this window, one of the tabs at the top should say UltraNav, if you click on this tab, you should be able to uncheck the box next to Enable TouchPad, which will disable the TouchPad. Click Apply and then OK. The TouchPad should now be disabled.

Best,
Adam

Ok so I have had this issue for the past 2 weeks and cant seem to figure it out. Heck I doubt anyone else can either. I have installed linux mint on my e430 laptop. The trackpad is to sensitive on this laptop (with linux mint). There is no option on it to change it. The only options are to enable it disable it or turn off while typing. In order to answer this question you will probably have to know more about linux than lenevo itself but figured I would give it a try to see if anyone else is running a different os on their computer. I would go back to windows for now but I dont have a disc for it and didnt really bother for a backup sincing I have linux on my desktop and my previous laptops. If anyones knows a magical way of fixing this issue please let me know thank you

Answer:Lenevo e430 touchpad too sensitive

Hi, robster8719

I have a few possible solutions that may benefit you. Firstly, if you are unhappy with Mint and would like to reinstall Windows, you may be able to do so without a Windows disc if you installed Linux on a partition and did not wipe the entire drive. There may still be the recovery partition that shipped with the machine if it has not been erased. To find out, you can press Enter repeatedly during the Lenovo splash screen. This should bring up a menu, and one of the options should be to recover your system. Press the associated key and the recovery should start, provided the partition is there.
If this is not an option, I did find a thread about Linux Mint mouse speed and other users having the issue. One of the users, artstadlin, posted a solution to changing the mouse speed that worked for others, so it may benefit you. The thread can be found here. And for your convenience, the contents of the original post are shown below.

"I am using my Mint desktop with a USB mouse. Nothing unusual about the mouse. It is a Logitech wired USB two-button, wheel mouse that I picked up from a local office supply store. The pointer moves way too fast for my taste. Even my daughter said it was way too fast.

The solution usually is the adjust the speed sliders in the Mouse section of System Settings. I already set them to their slowest settings, so something needed to change under the hood. This web page had the answer.

Hello! Please help me, I've tried uninstalling and installing the UltraNav drive without success.Block trackpoint, and even use a regular mouse. My problem is as follows:The Trackpoint cursor is moving alone. After disabling the trackpoint, I could use the touchpad for a normal time. Then the cursor touchpad is also moving alone. And the same happens with the mouse.Furthermore, the lower right touchpad button does not work as secondary click. Works just like the left, a standard button click. And sometimes not even working. Please help me! This is bothering others. I have to hold the trackpoint cursor to stop moving alone and to use normal mouse. Windows 8.1 64, ThinckPad Edge E430, core i5.Thank you!

hi all, please can you give me a feedback from your experience on e530 or e430 laptopsa) is your touchpad unit shaking? My touchpad has one milimeter gap, i mean when you tap it is going down one milimeter and this is very annoying.b) are your trackpoint buttons working well on every press you make. My right button has a dead zone. Imagine that you divide the button into four pieces (two up and two down). The upper left piece of the button is the dead zone, so when you press it there nothing happens. The result is that i need to press it harder and at the most right side of the button.Do you experience these problems at your e530-430-330 laptops?

Answer:e530 e430 touchpad and trackpoint questions

noone has e530?please, tell me about your touchpad. Is there a gap between touchpad and base? when i tap the touchpad it depresses about 1 mm and it feels loose. Is it normal? If it is defective i want to be on time for return - doa.

I have purchase multiple xps 13 and inspiron 13 laptops and observe the same issues.  I tend to use the touch pad with my right hand's index finger, and click the touchpad button with my left hand's index finger.  It's a quick way to get things done.  Many in my organization do this, too and have been running into problems.
However, quite frequently (but not all the time) when I click the button with my left hand the cursor jumps to another location on the screen.  Frequently this is the lower-left corner of the screen, but sometimes it is the upper right, too. This causes different windows to come into focus, or it activates the start menu.  Really , really annoying, and it happens on both laptop models.  Our previous Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro and Acer laptops did not have this issue.
I think this has to do with the touch pad thinking that the user has two fingers on the touch pad and moves the cursor thinking the finger jumped around the pad.  Otherwise the gestures and movement of the touchpad is fine.
Is this a known issue to Dell?  It's really aggravating and other users in my organization are complaining as well.  I may need to return the lot (3 XPS 13, 5 Inspiron 13 machines ) and look at different hardware.

Hi, I bought a Lenovo Essential G580 on 15th May 2013. Everything was working perfectly until yesterday when my keyboard started to type random characters. I had just put my laptop to sleep on the night of 20th July 2013 and when I switched on the laptop on the evening of 21st July 2013 the keyboard started typing random stuff. There has been no spillage on the laptop as its safely covered on my table and I am the only one living in my room. Also to make sure its not because of a software glitch, I tried the following: 1. Restarted the system multiple times2. Went to an earlier System restore point. (Tried 5 different one's)3. Refreshed the system4. Took a backup and Formatted the whole hard disk and reinstalled Windows.5. Switched off the laptop for the night and tried switching it on today morning. None of the above helped. So obviously it is not a software problem. (FYI: The Onscreen Keyboard just works fine) A few example stuff which I get when I press the keys: CAPS Lock: WX (When I press Caps lock key it types WX along with it so the pattern goes like this: WXwxWXwxWXwx and so on if you keep pressing caps lock)q: When I press q its types a tab with qwm: its types yum instead of mw: works like caps lock key. Turns on Caps and types WX too.x: same as wBackspace: Backspace deletes one character and along with that presses the enter key too The keys in the middle row i.e.. asdfghjkl are all working fine. The problem seems to be with t... Read more

hi bijoy3d,

Welcome to the Forums.

What you can try is to reseat the keyboard ribbon (see page 49-51 of the hardware maintenance manual). If that doesn't work, there's really something wrong with the physical keyboard and you need to contact lenovo support for service.

Hi there, got a z50-70 in december, sometimes the touchpad would go nuts, would be nothing near it, but the icon in the bottom right would be showing something in contact with the pad. Cleaned it with dry wipes and an air duster and it was fine. Today it has been awful. have tried cleaning with air duster, followed the instructions with the updated driver, nothing is helping, especially lenovo customer services. anyone here help restore my sanity :-)Thanks

Answer:Z50-70 Touchpad malfunctioning badly

hi clarkie18,

Welcome to the Forums.

When the touchpad malfunctions, does it move by itself erratically? Also, does this happen when the machine is on battery / AC adapter or it happens on both? If it happens on batteyr only and it's fine on AC adapter then the problem is likely similar to this thread.

Otherwise, there's likely a defect on the Touchpad board (this is the chip that controls the Touchpad)
 - Sample image

One thing that you can try to isolate the problem as software is to try the Touchpad while booted in the OneKey Recovery environment. If the problem remains then you will need to contact support for warranty service.

Hi, im an ICT Technician at a high schhol and we use Lenovo N500 Laptops for both students and teachers. Since having these laptops ive come across a problem with the mouse buttons twice. The first time it happened i managed to fix it quite quickly but now another has done the same thing and i cant remember how to fix it. When Windows (XP) loads it acts like a mouse buttons is held down, so the moment i first move the cursor a box appears (typical windows drag box). From that point onwards everytime i press the left mouse button the 'right click menu'' appear and right click doesn't do anything. I checked the drivers and checked the settings. Left click is still set to 'click' and right click is still 'menu' although this is not the case.. Ive flashed the Bios, re-installed the touchpad drivers, re-installed windows, booted into Slax, but still remains the same. i remember finding a solution to this on the internet and it was something very simple like a particular keyboard shortcut was enabled although doesnt explain why its still active after ive done what i have already. Any possible solutions anyone can think of would be appreciated. Eamon

When I am in an application, machine will change to another application or START window or Desktop.  It seems to do this when I move my left hand across the keyboard without touching anything.  I have tried to determine what movement caused this but cannot find any consistency.  Alt-Tab gets me right back to application but is a big nuisance.  I haven't tried turning off the Touchpad and use a mouse.

Answer:E430-originally Win 7-upgraded to Win 8-Machine randomly moves between applications

Hi, smwrld

Have you tried to see if this issue persists when running the machine in Safe Mode? To boot into Safe Mode, follow this path: Charms Bar ? Settings ? Change PC Settings ? General ? Advanced Boot Options ? Restart Now. When the machine is restarted, you'll have the option to boot into Safe Mode. In Safe Mode, there will be many things that will be disabled, such as sound and the Internet. Try using this for a little while and see if the issue occurs here.

Best,
Adam

I am using Dell Inspiron 3543 with windows 10 Home. My Synaptics Driver is malfunctioning.

Symptoms and Problem
The touchpad is working fine. Sometimes, after using laptop for a while, I am unable to perform 2-finger scrolling as well as touchpad get somewhat sticky and not as smooth as it was. This problem troubles me much as using 2-finger scrolling feature is very useful.

The one main symptom is as soon as when the 2-finger scrolling stops, at the same time the Dell touchpad (synaptics driver) icon in the system tray also get freezes, means it doesn't respond to any 'touch' pressure.

Troubleshoots
I tired contacting Dell, they updated my Synaptics Driver but after sometime the problem again started. I also tired uninstalling Synaptics Driver. But none of the solution works permanently. Only one temp solution is a reboot (restart).

Also I upgraded to windows 8.1 to 10 but the problem is as same as it was.

Please help

Hello everyone,

I have a Toshiba Satellite CL10-B-100 updated to the latest versions of Windows (before the update at 10, not yet executed) and the latest versions of the BIOS reported the utility "Toshiba Service Station."

Since the last BIOS update touchpad mouse began to malfunction: the pointer moves from time to time, remaining mostly stopped at a point of the screen. Swiping your finger on it are selected parts of the screen as icons and other windows but without that this corresponds to a clear selection and physical movement of the pointer.

I could see that this happens regardless of whether or not the power supply on, or by the fact that there are USB devices inserted.
But I can use the pointer using a mouse that I have to enter into a USB port that is so busy although I could avoid!

Because it seems to me that the problem is created after you install the latest BIOS version reported by Toshiba, what can I do to fix it? The PC is still under warranty.

PS: when I use the touchpad mouse utility in this trysystem windows "Synaptics Pointing Device" indicates that is being used with a green dot.

Now I would remind that this text has been automatically translated by Google Translate from Italian ...

Thanks for the assistance,
Good day!

The touchpad on my HP 840 G1 is going crazy! I upgraded from Win 8.1. and installed all the appropriate drivers from the HP page, but the touchpad enhancements keeps failing randomly, with material (supposedly) copied to the clipboard being replaced by the failure message and the entire Mouse options panel being inaccessible because "Control Panel extension is incompatible with Driver". At times, the whole thing is barely functional and it's quite a nuisance because I use this machine for work. What do I do?

I have just bought this Dell XPS 13 9350 within the past few months. One day the touchscreen started to constantly click on the screen, sometimes without stopping. The only way I am able to get this "ghost clicking" to stop is either restarting the laptop (hoping the problem doesn't persist)or, sometimes I get lucky by just pressing the touch screen on random spots and it seems to stop the clicking. Is this a hardware problem or can I somehow fix this problem other than messing with the hardware??

i have a dell latitude laptop and the touchpad started behaving crazy from last week. i didnt notice when it started to happen and don't know what might be the cause.

in the synaptics tray icon when you right click there is a set of options that you can choose, and one of the options is called a pressure graph (there is also a mood pad next to it), and when i click on this pressure graph it gives me the following message: "Sorry, this program requires a Synaptics TouchPad and the Synaptics TouchPad Device Driver." and i'm pretty certain i've got the driver for it, and i've got the correct driver for it; but i can't be sure whether the installation is damaged or not. how can i check this? could there be something in the registry that prevents this from working or perhaps a conflict with another device? i tried reinstalling - it didnt work.

So it could be either hardware or software and I need to find out as soon as possible because I'm getting little annoyed by this mouse business.

Anyone with a solution?

This situation occurred for a few months already, as a hardcore gamer, its really annoying when i playing games it just freezes and i have to unplug and plug it in again to get it work.

My mouse is a Razer Deathadder, i thought it was my mouse problem, but i plugged it into another computer, it worked flawlessly, so i think my computer might be infected, heres are the logs.

HiI own a Thinkpad E430(type 3254). It's about 14 months old. Yesterday, it randomly started having an issue with it's keyboard. It acts like the enter key is continuously pressed, and about 1 sec after I hit any other key it stops. The enter key by itself has stopped working, and only shorts sometimes and results in a continuous press. As soon as i boot, enter input is given and normal startup gets interrupted. If i press any key, it's normal again until an OS loads. For example, if i boot into debian, line breaks get inserted between the console messages that are displayed until i press a key, and if i boot windows, it gets stuck at the login screen because enter is given without the correct password so it loops. This behavior also happens sometimes randomly while working normally. The keyboard hasn't even seen heavy usage, or any drink spills. I usually keep the laptop at my desk, and use an external keyboard. The last time I took it out was 2 weeks ago.  Has anyone faced this issue before? I doubt it can be a software issue, so do I need a new keyboard? Thanks for the assistance.

Answer:Thinkpad E430 Keyboard Issue

ook so no one knows or no one bothered. anyway, i solved it and i'll leave it here.i called up lenovo's helpline, and they told me to remove ac power and the battery, and then keep the power button pressed for 2x30 seconds. Apparently, that drain static charge on the motherboard. That helped but only for a few minutes. Last night, i drained out the battery to 5% and now the issue is gone. I've recharged to 100% and the system is normal. I don't know what caused this, but it might have something to do with the lenovo power manager, which i recently installed.

got my laptop last night (e430 3rd gen i7) ? already have problems:a lot of the keys don't work ? only a-z & 1-9 work, the rest (eg enter, spacebar, delete, backspace etc) do not respond.Updated all windows updates and lenovo updates, still nothing anything anyone can think of to fix this?

Answer:New e430 keyboard doesn't work

go into your bios and try the enter key there. If it doesn't work, call 131-426, option 1 and 3, ask for a new keyboard and see whether that fixes the issue (they should courier it to you overnight). If that doesn't work you can opt for repair or return.

The keyboard on my laptop will type any character i press for ever, wherever text can be entered. If i open up a browser, and the first thing i type is w it will keep going "wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww....." It does this with any key, that is a letter or a number. It does not stop unless i restart it. The only reason i typed this up is because i used a usb keyboard. It works fine unless i press any key on the laptop's keyboard.

Answer:Thinkpad E430 Keyboard typing by itself

The only thing I can think of, is try creating a new user and see if it happens there.  If it still does, make yourself a linux live cd, and see if it does it there.  If it does, then it is for sure the keyboard and warraty that sh*t!  If not it is software based, and you need to clean that computer!

I was typing as normal today, and suddenly my number keys stopped working.  The entire row is completely out. I have a Tfourthirty - can't do numbers - and every so often my number "one" key goes off as if it's being held down and a whole row of the number is typed.  Also, sometimes I'm typing and a whole bunch of numbers will go off in the text field.  It also interferes with my touchpad function, and my browser will randomly go into full screen. When I tried restarting, I kept getting re-routed to the recovery screen, I think because it's as though the number and Function keys are being pressed. This is the second backlit thinkpad keyboard I've had to have replaced, and I JUST had it replaced less than two weeks ago.  Please help [exclamation points] Is this something I have to have Lenovo hardware dept service??  It took them three weeks to get it right last time so if anyone knows of an alternate solution it woul be great....

Hello

After not using my laptop for a couple of weeks because the charger failed, I started it with a new charger (trying to use the internet) but a number of keys are not functioning, including but not limited to: j, k, p, q, t and u.

I was told I might have a virus but if this is the wrong forum, I apologise (and for breaching any other convention).

I am using Windows Home Vista Basic on an Acer Aspire 5357Z and Norton 360 and Malwarebytes Anti Malware for security. I have scanned using these but to no avail.

Any and all help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I was using a Toshiba laptop the other day (L505D G6000) when some keyboard keys stopped typing. I turned the laptop off and removed the battery for some time, but when I turned it on again the keyboard was still not working properly. I then thought that it might be a driver problem; unfortunately Toshiba does not provide any keyboard drivers, so I checked with Microsoft. I tried different drivers in the hope of maybe hitting the correct one, still with no luck. I then checked the keyboard drivers on a healthy Toshiba laptop and copied them to the defected one ( i8042prt.sys and kdbclass.sys ). The keyboard still did not work!!
What should I do?
Note:
-In the keyboard properties, the device status is: This device is working properly.
-Whenever I type any key the numlock lights on and sometimes some weird output is given like the time and date.

Answer:KeyBoard malfunctioning

Check for a stuck key. Try plugging in an external keyboard. If that types OK you have a bad keyboard in the laptop. If it is the keyboard they are fairly easy to change. directions here: http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/Toshiba-Satellite-L505-L505D/remove-laptop-motherboard-1.htm

When I'm typing it either will not register, or it instead put an m instead of a :. My numpad will also turn on and then turn off randomly so I will have numbers instead of what I originally typed e.g. 5 instead of an I in my sentences. I've checked the device manager and it says my keyboard devices are functioning properly and its the latest version available. Can anyone give me insight to my problem? Thanks

Hi guys, I own an Acer V3-371 HV laptop since 1.5 years now. I am very satisfied with the product, but last night the keyboard stopped working properly, parts of the keys are broken: w r t u o p x backspace del 1 4 6 8 0 ~ = ] ' win and fn.A while ago I upgraded the ram from 4 to 8 GB, and replaced the thermal paste (since temperatures were rising), so I know how to open the laptop. I first thought that maybe the connecting plastic cable from the keyboard to the motherboard might be damaged, so I opened the laptop, but I could not see any damage on the connector. I also couldn't see any other damage to the keyboard and elsewhere inside the laptop. Does anyone have an idea what may have caused the malfunction of these keys? And how I can solve this issue?I prefer fixing it myself, rather than sending the laptop in, because I need it for work, and since I opened the laptop myself already (for upgrading ram and thermal paste), I am afraid Acer will not apply warranty, leading to a high repair bill.I found a replacement top cover on ebay, because I think it will be impossible to separate the keyboard from the cover, since it is 'welded' on with plastic dots. But before buying that I would like to know for sure that that part is broken, not something else. Is there any way I can test this? Thanks in advance for your time/effort!

I have Dell inspiron 15 3543,
Recently first 2 rows in keyboard are not working, that is function keys and number keys and some other keys.... I hve formatted OS and reinstalled it, after that also keyboard is not working, I hv tried with connecting USB keyboard, even with USB same keys are not working. . What may be the problem?? How it can be resolved

Answer:Keyboard malfunctioning

If neither keyboard works -- internal or external -- it's likely the mainboard that's faulty.
If the system is in warranty, call Dell for repair.  If it's out of warranty, note that replacing a board - particularly if you have to pay for the labor - will likely run more than 50% of what the system initially cost.  It may not be a cost-effective repair -- you'll get at best a 90-day repair warranty.  With any low-end system like this, it may be better to replace rather than repair the system.

Keyboards really do not require software in Windows so it sounds like the anwer is in the word "cheap" and the new word should be replace it. Keyboards either work or they don't and they mostly work.

Hi all, I have had the following problem for the past 3 days and it has gotten to me honestly, see if anyone can help me... My keyboard has ceased to work. None of the Latin keys function at all, only Ctrl, Shift and the Windows key continue to function, that and the F keys, but only when FnLk is pressed, the rest (such as the numbers, enter, direction keys, letter and so on) do not work, however they do sometimes provoke a sound as if their input was not allowed, but no input is seen on the screen. Furthermore, I have attempted to solve the issue by updating drivers, reinstalling the device, using windows restore to return to previous setting, reset windows and re-install the OS itself and even boost in Safe Mode, all to no avail, which leads me to believe this could be a hardware issue. The laptop is new and has never suffered any sort of trauma nor harsh treatment. If anyone has a clue of what else it might be, besides hardware I'd really appreciate it. Thank you!

Answer:Malfunctioning keyboard

Hi federicojp,1. May I know which model is this?2. Have you tried to use an external USB keyboard to see if the issue persist?3. Which method did you use to reinstall OS? Windows Refresh / Reset, Lenovo Recovery, or Reformat with Windows Media? Peter

Answer:Keyboard Malfunctioning

Replace the keyboard. $9.95 at Wal-Mart. Available used for free. If it is wireless, it is definitely bad. If it is USB, it could be bad. PS/2 boards are almost never bad unless they have food and dirt under the keys.
We throw away 100 keyboards a month, so ask any tech shop... or Salvation army store.
Fast boards that gamers like, have a much higher incidence of failure. There is almost no computer component with a higher failure rate than a wireless keyboard.

Hi there, I got my computer, an E-machine (I forget the actual model number, I'm at a computer lab at my university right now) in 2003, and I hadn't really had any problems with it until last fall when I moved to an apartment complex at my school. Since then, I've had a whole host of problems, mostly that it freezes up ALL the time, everything just freezes in place and the only way to get it to work again is to manually reboot it by turning it off and back on again. I managed to live with this problem, though, because I couldn't afford to not use it for however long it would have taken to get it serviced.

Just yesterday, it froze and I rebooted it like always, but instead of Windows XP loading up, it gave me an error saying Floppy Drive Fail (80), and it wouldn't go any further. I bypassed it by pushing F1, and it was temporarily working again. But this morning, I went to use it, and now the keyboard is acting bizarre! It's typing two of every key I press, and when I went to click on icons on the desktop, it would select more than one as if I were holding down the shift key. The actual keyboard is in good condition, none of the keys are stuck and it's clean, though. So I tried restarting the computer thinking that would help, but when I got to the Windows login screen, I found that I couldn't type in my password because the problem was still there.

I've tried restarting, unplugging and plugging everything back in, and loading W... Read more

So last night I was having a good time playing Sims 3 when all of a sudden BAM! About 7 notices about these darn sticky keys pop up. I was freaked out that somehow I got a Virus so I ran my Norton and like I expected since its on all the time, nothing showed up. After dealing with the constant pop ups I bit the bullet and clicked the link to the Ease of Access Center. I clicked off everything, and clicked the 'set up' links which brought me to more advanced sticky keys setup. I made sure everything was off and rebooted my laptop.
It was awesome. For 2 seconds. Then the same process happened for filter keys.
After going through this process at least a dozen times -seriously- I then unplugged my power source, turned the computer off, took out the battery...let it sit for a while...then put the battery back in, restarted and plugged in the power.
For nothing. It was still the same story. With a twist now though. Now the numbers and the row beneath are either joined together (press e, get 3e etc) that is, if they work, and the remainder of the letters capitlize sporadically. And sometimes after a reboot the keyboard just doesnt work.
Why oh why is this happening? Can someone PLEASE help me? I'm close to tears...or violence.

Answer:keyboard malfunctioning

Sounds like a usb issue...any reinstalls of Windows recently? What SP #? You might have to go to eMachine site and see if any new motherboard drivers there can be downloaded.
Was the old mouse and keyboard Ps2 or usb? You might need to check the bios to see that it enables usb mouse and keyboard.

Hi all,

A few days ago, my keyboard suddenly started behaving strangely. Before this problem began, when I was using Internet Explorer, the Tab key would take me to the next line on a form, or to the next "highlightable" option. However, it now brings up the Favourites menu. Also, certain key combinations bring up the Start Menu, and take me to things like the shut-down menu box, My Documents etc.

As far as I am aware, I have not changed anything to do with the keyboard at all: no software changes, I haven't touched anything in the Control Panel, yet this has happened. It's not the end of me using my PC, but it certainly is an inconvenience, and one which I am eager to have rectified.

Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

I should add here (and as I've typed that I was directed to the Help and Support Centre) that I have tried unplugging the keyboard and plugging it back in, checking my keyboard settings in the Control Panel... I can't find anything to explain the problem.

So basically I was wiping down my keyboard and when I turned on my computer, my keyboard was having some issues. Mainly the issue was every time I typed 'a' it typed 'a3' and 'z' would be 'z2.' I was able to fix this by toggling numlock, but now when I type 'a' it scrolls down the page. When I type 'q' it presses enter and starts a new line. This mainly happens in Microsoft word documents and web browsers etc.  I've tried uninstalling my keyboard drive, that didn't help. I've tried odd tricks like ctl+alt+del and hitting win button and 'x' multiple times. I've also tried holding shift+ctl+alt on both sides of the keyboard. None of these worked. I've tried remapping keys using SharpKey, also didn't work.  The clues are pointing towards this being a hardware issue, but I just want to be absolutely sure. My keyboard was working before I cleaned it, I think I must have pressed something. Please help. Thanks.

After a very small wine spill on the right side of my keyboard, it is now acting completely weird - almost like each key is a DOS command. a couple of examples: Typing l brings up the login screen; e brings up explorer; but other keys do very strange things. In Word, the letter h toggles the drawing pad and types a y on the screen!! Some keys do nothing - for example, the d, x - typing a z gives you za on the screen.

Also the USB port on the right side doesn't work. Have I reset the keyboard somehow whey trying to dry it? Programs still work . Help!!

This is an HP HDX 16, specifically. Not ten minutes after using the keyboard with no problems, I open it and the thing goes berserk. Right now, the main symptoms are:

pressing 'Backspace' will replace the letter before it with a space

pressing 'g' will yield 'bgtv'
pressing 'h' will yield 'nhym'
pressing 'z', 'x', or 'caps' will toggle caps interchangeably
pressing the parentheses key will yield ' ='[/ '

some keys function normally, like 'a' or 'q', while other mostly don't function at all.

I don't remember hitting it or jostling it around at all in the ten minutes between using it, closing it, and opening it again.

Please help me out!

A few weeks ago, my keyboard on my desktop computer started behaving funny. For instance, whenever I hit the spacebar, my keyboard will register a spacebar + insert. The same happens if I hit the insert button. This makes editing a sentence or paragraph very tedious, as it is constantly changes from "insert mode" to overwriting the text in front of it. There is a similar pairing of my right arrow key and down arrow key, and a few other strange key combinations.

The first thing I tried was cleaning my usb keyboard. Then, I unplugged the keyboard and plugged it back in, but nothing changed. Next, I uninstalled the keyboard driver through the Device Manager (I'm running Windows 8), unplugged the keyboard, then plugged it back in so that it would automatically reinstall the drivers. When that didn't work, I figured the issue must be my keyboard, so I bought a new one. I plugged in my new keyboard this morning, and the same issue was still occurring. Has anybody ever seen an issue like this or have any suggestions for where I should go from here?

Thank you

OS: Windows XP

Main problem: Some keys and signs are appearing at the same time when I hit certain keys.

For example, when I hit the '3' on my num pad, it adds '/3'. When I hit the Up Arrow, an apostrophe appears either on the current line or the one above it. The same happens when I hit the apostrophe key. When I press the Caps Lock, a semi-colon appears. The Caps Lock function is going mad, turning on and off when it pleases. And so it the Num Lock.

Any more information you need, do ask. I shall provide as much as I can.

Hi! First time posting here, 2 things I guess I'd mention before I start, firstly English isn't my native language so excuse me if I don't make myself clear at some point, and secondly I am actually not looking to solve my problems with this thread, I am looking to get some more information about the problems I am facing, since I'm sending (again) my computer to get repaired, and I don't think they can be solved this way.

So I bought this laptop less than a year ago and it has had a few problems since then:
1-The WiFi connection- (Almost) every single day, I have turn my computer on, and then reboot it. The first time I turn it on and try to access to the internet I start getting the warning that the WiFi connection isn't working properly and if I turn it off I can't turn it on again. The ability to connect to any WiFi network or to check any near ones, just simply vanishes, which forces me to reboot.
I've sent the computer to be repaired and I've been told the WiFi adapter was either reinstalled or replaced (do... Read more

Yesterday my keyboard and mouse started acting weird. The keyboard isnt typing the correct letters (for example, the A key doesnt work at all, the Z key is functioning as the delete key, the backspace key types a random string of letters, and the shift key tabs). The mouse isnt functioning properly either (the left click is highlighting whatever I click on, and if I double click it opens the properties menu). Ive never had a problem with either before - the mouse is an old Dell mouse, and the keyboard is a Dynex which is only a few months old. The PC itself is custom built, running Windows XP Pro x64 OS.

I tried restarting the computer however I cannot type my login password to get back into the computer (Im writing this post from an old laptop). I attempted logging in to safe mode however the up and down arrow keys on the keyboard arent functioning so I cannot scroll down to choose the safe mode option, and the enter key doesnt seem to be doing anything either. My account is the only account on the computer, and is a passworded administrator account, and there is no guest account so there is no way for me to access the computer without being able to type my password.

I dont believe that this is an issue with the hardware as the mouse works with my laptop and Ive never had an issue with either piece before. Im concerned that it might be a virus messing with the controls. Before I restarted my computer I ran adaware and spybot which found a few things which I removed, but s... Read more

Hi, I recently discovered this issue after an update from Lenovo. - When I first turn on the machine and the Windows login page appears, the password box begins to fill up with text as if someone is holding down a key. This continues to happen until I click the password box with my mouse. - I am unable to type "Shift+Y" - In any and every text box or text editor, the number "6" keeps being printed. This is happening while I'm typing this message and it is very annoying. I think the issue may be that the last Lenovo update seemed to have failed. I just don't know how to fix it. The computer is still under a two year warrently.

I have been using the same Dell laptop with WinXP for several years, and it has been a relatively reliable machine (am posting this message from another computer). The other day, the inbuilt keyboard started malfunctioning: some keys did not respond when pressed, others seemed to launch random shortcuts which would usually have required several combined keypresses.

Thinking this might be a result of dirt and dust build-up, I hoovered the keys, which seemed to work temporarily. But after about half an hour, the malfunction returned, more emphatically. None of the keys were responding at all except the up/down arrow keys and the vowels, and these all came out with acute accents (i.e. , , , ).

This formula has been repeating itself. Every time I boot the machine, the keyboard functions fine for about half an hour, then behaves as above. I tried using an external keyboard via the PS/2 port and the same thing happened, so it doesn't seem to be a hardware fault (even though I'm posting it in this forum). There are no conflicts listed in the Device Manager.

I don't know what could cause this response in the machine. I have an updated anti-virus software and it has not picked up anything. I read somewhere about internal problems in laptops (connections burning out or something). But that wouldn't explain the unpredictability of the malfunction. It has also been accompanied by other quirks, such as unresponsive desktop icons and inability to navigate be... Read more

When typing the words skip to and begin in other places in the sentence or in the paragraph. Annoying. Also the only way I can space is to stop after every word and hit the center of the space bar. I have vacuumed my keyboard thoroughly, and, although better, not operating properly.

Answer:Keyboard (and spacebar) malfunctioning.

Laptop or PC?If it's a PC then you can replace the keyboard. If laptop then you could use an external USB keyboard. If it is specific keys (like the spacebar) then it can sometimes be cured, at least temporarily, by turning the computer off then giving the offending key(s) several quite hard taps.I doubt this is a software issue but the keyboard itself playing up.Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

I recently started up my Edge 2 after it was shut down for a week, and suddenly some of the keys aren't working, specifically the space bar, N, and B. There's been no water/other damage done to it. I updated the drivers without any luck. Lenovo's next suggestion is to send it in since it's still under warranty (purchased just in September), but I recently moved to New Zealand, and the cost to ship it to them in the US is almost $100 as it's not covered under an international warranty here. Is there anything else I can try to fix the problem? Side note rant: I'm at my wits end with this low-quality laptop. At some point on the flight to New Zealand, the side of the screen where it meets the case was knicked, and now a crack is spreading across the rest of the screen that is affecting the functionality of the touchscreen. The laptop was in a heavily padded laptop sleeve in my Victorinox backpack the entire time--how is it possible that it's this fragile? I bought this laptop because my previous Lenovo was still going strong after SEVEN YEARS, and I bought that one USED. Lenovo is known for quality and durability, but I am seriously disappointed in this laptop. End rant.

Hi Everyone,

I have a Dell XPS laptop that has a keyboard that when the laptop boots into Windows 7 the shift key (on the left side) turns on the caps lock key, and other keys are triggering different functions than what the keys are suppose to do.

I thought is was a bad keyboard, so I purchased a new keyboard and still the same thing is happening. I looked for a keyboard setting within Windows but still haven't found anything to resolve this problem.

The laptop itself functions great, with the exception of the keys not working correctly on the keyboard. I have after the new keyboard was installed, reinstalled a fresh copy of Windows 7 but still not luck.

Does anyone have any ideas how to resolve this problem? Coudl it be a problem with the motherboard.

Thanks
Jim

I am the owner of an HP Stream 11 laptop. Has been working flawlessly until 5 days ago I accidentally spilled some water on the keyboard causing it to malfunction. The caps lock broke for one after that incident. At first it was malfunctioning in a way that whenever I pressed the N and/or B buttons, those keys would somehow turn the caps on and off,but the caps lock key itself was non responsive. Even the LED light inside the caps lock button died. Also pressing the 'delete' key caused to turn on the caps as well. So after that, I went to turn on the 'sticky keys',and after that it seemed to work fine although the caps lock was still not responding. Then the night before last, I left my laptop on as I fell asleep ,and woke in the middle of the night to find out my screen's view was magnified by over 1000% and the narrator(which I left on) kept speaking out of control. I have no idea why it was like this. I did nothing to turn on the magnifier, and yet suddenly it got turned on somewhat automatically. Next morning, I noticed the screen was still magnified. Because of that it was hard to  see what was going on,but  I managed with my mouse to get it back to 100%. That time however none of the keys on the keyboard were working at all,as if it had been completely locked. None of the keys worked except for the Esc key which oddly turned on the screen magnifier window, and another window which was for Microsoft Windows support. Managed to get the onscreen... Read more

They said they can try replacing the chipset but it might render my laptop totally useless .  My laptop is out of warranty . Is there any chance of repairing the motherboard or do I have to get a new board?

Hello, I've searched this board all over to find someone else with the same problem I'm having but I was unable to. Randomly, certain keys on my keyboard stop working. Namely the Q, T, U, P, J, 1, 3, _ and the left arrow key. I've tried a few things to try and fix this. First I tried uninstalling the keyboard drivers and restarting the computer which does fix the problem SOMETIMES but this is sporatic and the next time I boot up there is a good possibility the problem will return. The next thing I tried was going onto the 'Ease of Access menu and checking on 'Filter Keys' clicking apply then I uncheck 'Filter Keys' and again click apply. This also fixes the problem but this too is sporatic and does not last. The only other thing I can think of is trying to reset the laptop to factory settings (extremely annoying). What is the problem here? This is a manufacturer refurbished laptop and I bought on March 4th, 2013. Would this issue be covered under warranty? Any help would be necessary, I'm a writer so this problem is affecting me greatly. Thanks!

Hello everyone!  I bought my parents a Lenovo Yoga 2 tablet along with its bluetooth keyboard. For the last few days, the BT keyboard would be functioning when I type in my login password, but once I logged onto the device, my keyboard would stop working. However, the function keys (volume, etc) would still work. I tried googling this issue but it doesn't seem to be share by many people.  Anyone here has experienced a similar issue? Someone  had suggested me it is a hardware problem, but if the keyboard is working during the login screen, wouldn't it be also possibly a software problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Operating Windows XP, HP Pavillion ze "two thousand" laptop - the digit two makes the cursor toggle up to the url address line otherwise I would have typed two thousand in digits.
keyboard malfunctioning - other examples are typing "t" results in "t4", about an hour ago it resulted in tv4". Other letters and numbers cause similar errors, arrow keys not working correctly, tab key types the number "one". The open bracket key is currently operating as a right click function. The examples are too numerous to mention. Suffice to say, it has not been easy to type this message.

I have conducted a virus scan and two trojan viruses and one trojan downloader were found but they were fixed and the problem still remains.

Also, in trying to install Microsoft Updates a number of two thousand three updates could not be installed because Installation Package PRO11.MSI could not be found. I don't know if this could be related.

I hope you can help

Ok, hopefully somebody can help me out here.

So I had one of my laptops plugged into an external monitor, untill tonight when I decided to take it off the monitor to fool around with it. Bad idea apparently.

After unplugging it from the monitor, the display on the laptop was a blank screen (this is what usually happens when I first unplug it). Normally, I press the Fn key and the f4 button to toggle back the display to the actual laptop screen. However, for some reason this wasn't working and I couldn't figure out why. So I press the Caps Lock key to see if the icon on the keyboard lights up just to be sure the keyboard isn't broken. Low and behold the button wasn't lighting up, and my keyboard is broken.

So now I'm stuck with a laptop that has no display all because of a broken keyboard. I do have an external keyboard, but there is no way to toggle display from that. At least none which I can find. I have tried plugging the laptop back into the monitor and pressing the display toggle button on the monitor itself, and haven't had any luck with getting a display.

The laptop has bigger issues besides the display (reboots itself during startup), and I was just about to reinstall windows/perform a system restore on it. But obviously I can't do anything without a display.

If there is anyone out there who isn't completely confused by my explanation, and has at least an idea of what to do or where to start, please let me know.

Hi,

I'm not actually sure if this is hardware or software related but it certainly seems to be a USB issue.

A bit of background - I was having problems with my internet connection. Tried a few basic fixes and nothing worked so I phoned my ISP. They ran some line tests and said they could see that my connection was constantly dropping out. They referred me to advanced tech support and I was told that I should try a new ADSL microfilter and if that didn't solve it to either borrow another router or take my router and test it on someone elses phone line. Took my router and a laptop to a property where they have a line with the same company. Connected my router using their microfilter and was able to browse without issues for 30 minutes. I then put my own microfilter in line and was able to browse for another hour without any problems. My conclusion was that it had to be my telephone line, although I had no issues with the phone, just the broadband.

Since then I have discovered that when I... Read more

Wow! 336 views and zero replies.

I wonder if an update will provoke a response?

I established that the PS/2 mouse issue was indeed a faulty mouse. Tried another one (which I'm using now) and it works ok but has no wheel.

Things I tried to resolve the issue?

Enabled something in bios called Legacy USB support (I think).

Repair install of XP - Don't know if that completed properly as it froze on the small screen that says please wait after rebooting into XP after the repair.

Tried doing a complete reinstall but had problems with that. I used to have Windows 7 dual booting with XP on 2 seperate HDD's but the biggest one failed and I didn't think the 80 gig one I have now would be big enough to cope. I've since been advised that it would so I'm now running 7 but not happy because I only have 1GB of ram - hoping to get some more soon.

I had hoped that, whatever the problem with the usb thing, Windows 7 may be able to cope with it better.

After I installed 7, the problem was still there but nowhere near as bad until I got microsoft updates, then it got really bad again with the usb driver constantly reinstalling itself and Windows complaining that a usb device had malfunctioned. This led me to believe that the problem may be software related, after all.

Does anyone else think so or is it sounding like a physical problem with the usb sockets?

Because I already have 2 brand new USB mice, although they are only cheap supermarket ones, I decided... Read more

Hi,

I have a Toshiba Equium A100 laptop and when I press u on the keyboard I get 8u, when I press i I get ki, press o I get lo, press 2 I get w2. I have checked the keyboard for any faults on the cable to the motherboard, also turned off the hot keys.

I tried an external keyboard and that worked fine. I ended up buying a new keyboard and that worked fine for a while, then it suddenly started doing the problem mentioned earlier.

I have uninstalled the driver then reinstalled it but no difference. I am running Windows XP Home SP3.

I hope someone can shed some light on this problem.

Thanks.

> I tried an external keyboard and that worked fine. I ended up buying a new keyboard and that worked fine for a while, then it suddenly started doing the problem mentioned earlier.
You bought new keyboard and it solved the problem for a while.
Well, in my opinion there are two possibilities;
Either you had a big bad luck and the new keyboard started to malfunction too or there is something wrong with the keyboard controller on the mobo.

But this is only my personal suggestion and if you want to know what's wrong exactly then you should ask a Toshiba ASP in your country for a notebook check.

By the way; I hope you are using the latest BIOS.

Faced below issue twice. For first time I got my machines repaired by HP USA it self and it worked for 2-3 months but now suddenly it started same way again. When I got it checked from HP, they detected hardware failure and they replaces the keyboard hardware(as per the records) but I dont think the hardware was actually replaced as I can still see the hardware installation date which is older than the dates when laptop was at service center. Now issues is,When laptop is on AC power adapter supply, keyboard works fine but when it is on battery power supply clicking on one key triggers series of keys. This series of characters always starts from 'q'. I have tried every possible attemp from software end but none of worked. I tried updaing the drivers with HP Assistant Manager,I tried updating BIOS,I tried changind the keyboard language assistance etc but none of above worked. Please advise if any of you have some idea about such issues. This sounds like there is kind of problem with motherboard IC components which are not working as expected when on DC power supply but works when on AC power supply.

My keyboard has started playing up. It started a while back but seems to be getting progressively worse. It misses out letters or suddenly repeats keys several times for no reason. I've tried updating drivers, unplugging, restarting and reconnecting to no avail. I've also checked the settings - sticky keys etc - but that doesn't see, to be it either. I read somewhere that there might be too many conflicting drivers so I checked and there seem to be 4 of them but I don't know whether they are for this keyboard or the on-screen keyboard which I'm now using. I wouldn't know which one to remove.

Yet, while typing in Word, my cursor backspaces, highlights and erases entire sentences and words without me even realizing it until they're gone! I just activated windows today and I was able to enable my elan touchpad in the mouse settings. After enabling it I noticed that my touchpad will only respond if I click in one area only. I do not know whats wrong with my touch pad. I can move my mouse but it will only click in one area. Please help me!!

Answer:Why is my touchpad on my laptop not clicking

Does anyone know how to fix this problem? I am really worried about my touch pad. I also noticed that its works perfectly for a little bit but whenever I click on Microsoft edge then the touch pad only lets me click in one area

Hello Everyone,

My problem started after updating windows 8.1 to windows 10, of course!
First the touchpad just stopped working, for no reason.

My solution was to uninstall the drive and restart the laptop. And from time to time I had to do this proceed. Two weeks ago windows updated, and the touchpad issue's gone. . Unfortunately, another one appeared.

The feature "mousekey", which is turn it on at ease access to use the numeric keys to use them as a mouse, It's turning itself on. And doesn't matter how many times I turn it off, few seconds and it's on again.

I've tried uninstalling the drive, which after windows the last updating was "ELAN".

Then I replaced by the Toshiba drivers, which is "Synaptic", and uninstalled the drives ,the problem is the same. Because of that, I can't use my numeric key, which is annoying!! If anyone can come up with something I will be grateful.
