Preferred Solution: Thinkpad Edge 530 Windows 8, Error code 43 in device manager on Unknown Device tab.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello there,I performed clean Windows 7 installation on my Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E545 laptop, I installed all the drivers and Windows updates, however I still have one unknown device in Windows Device Manager that I can't get to work properly. I do not know what the device is and Windows troubleshoot doesn't help at all. I did some googling and checked your Lenovo support and found out that this might be missing Power Management driver but I have installed it and the issue persits. When I go to device's Details tab it lists two Hardware Ids: 1) ACPI\SMB0001, 2)*SMB0001 (screenshot provided).Unknown deviceI have also tried to install AMD SMBUS driver and many others (Synaptics driver) and in the end I got rid of all unkown devices from the Device Manager except this last one. Could you please advise on which driver I might have missed or what steps need to be taken to solve this issue? Thank you very much in advance,Michal

One more yellow ? to go.  Thanks to the good advice rampant on this forum, I was able to figure out how to install the other drivers I needed.   This last one is messing with my mind tho.  It's unfair for a problem to not even have a name, doncha think?   About all I can fathom about this 'Unknown device' is its location:  'on Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Embedded Controller'. I tried the driver for 'Embedded Controller' and when I double click, it takes over the computer and tells me not to shut it down and begins installing 49 fixes.  When I did it, the program got to the 21st fix, and that was as far as it would go.  I shut down the computer after about 20 minutes.  It did not remove the 'Unknown device' remark in Device Manager. What's a poor boy to do? Also, Windows is taking forever to load. This was not the case yesterday.  Thanks for all your help. 50GreenDodge in Phoenix

Answer:What is my 'Unknown device' in Device Manager? - ThinkPad T40 2374-75U

Hello, Have you tried installing the Lenovo System Update software to see if that detects any missing device drivers and offers to install it for you? The latest versions for your ThinkPad T40 Model 2374-75U can be found here on Lenovo's web site. If if that does not work, you could try going back into the Device Manager (filename: DEVMGMT.MSC), selecting the Unknown Device to view its properties and then go to the Details tab, where you should see several values listed in the property sheet for things like "Device Description", "Hardware IDs",  "Compatible IDs" and so forth.  Try using these as search terms in your favorite search engine to see if doing so leads you to a more detailed description of the device, including a manufacturer, brand, model or part number. Once you have that information, it may be easier to find the appropriate device driver for the unrecognized hardware. Regards, Aryeh Goretsky

I am having an issue where my DVD/CD RW has a code 19 error in device manager. The drive still works as I used it to boot a Windows CD and run a startup repair to see if that found anything. I tried uninstalling the drive and then scanning and it failed to install the drive. I also tried uninstalling the drive and rebooting, but it wouldn't install. Any suggestions?

Hi all.  please see attached dxdiag for my system specs.  note that this is a big desktop PC
this morning i noticed a device in the device manger which isn't working properly. Normally  if it's not a major issue, i'd consider that sort of thing a silly nitpick.
However, i'm currently experiencing a major problem (which shall have its own thread, later), and i need to start eliminating possible suspects
i tried to research this little issue, and i found some steps that seem really good for major discrete components. unfortunately usb host controller is a generic entity, i'm not honestly sure if it even corresponds to any particular usb headers or external ports.
I've already tried the basic steps of disabling/enabling it, un/reinstalling the device, restarting the computer, leaving it powered off for five minutes, etc
anyways, details:
the device is listed under the Universal Serial Bus controllers section of the manager, as "Unknown Device"
When i open up the properties menu, i see the following info:
Device type: USB controllers
Manufacturer: (Standard USB  Host Controller)
Location: Port_#0001.Hub_#0003
Device Status: Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems (Code 43)
going by instructions i found elsewhere, i was trying to hunt through the details tab for the hardware ID. Unfortunately that option only reports the value USB\UNKNOWN

Hello. I installed a few recommended Windows Updates on 1/15. After the update, install, and computer refresh though, my audio stopped working. I went to Control Panel and tried opening up my audio driver, HT Omega Claro Halo, but the driver wouldn't open. I then checked my Device Manager and found the oh so fun error code 52 associated with my Claro Halo audio driver. You know, the one that says,

"Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source. (Code 52)"

I then rolled back my C drive to a previous restore point I made a few days ago and it was working again which means that something in the update was messing up my audio driver. I re-downloaded the Updates and uninstalled the drivers. I downloaded the latest driver but that didn't work and I am still getting the same error code 52. I know the F8 trick on start-up that disregards the digital signature of drivers but that is only a temporary fix and definitely NOT what I am looking for. I'm looking for a permanent solution. I would appreciate it if someone could help me out here. Thanks.

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
I?m sorry to inform that it is a false indication from Lenovo solution center. Since Windows doesn?t detect any missing device drivers within the device manager, there is no driver that is missing.
If the warning keeps popping up, change the reminder settings to ?never?. Probably, you have to wait for an LSC update in which the bug would be fixed.
Refer here for further information regarding the issue.

hey manugautam000,welcome to the forums, disable to camera from device manager and remove the current driver installed to it.reboot your unit, re-enable the camera. windows should then install its own generic drivers.test your camera with the generic drivers.later on, head to , download the latest camera driver for your unit. set your unit to diagnostic mode via msconfig and then install.

Hello there!

I would be very grateful for any help/hints if somebody has an idea what to do....

My gf has the above mentioned laptop (w/o preinstalled OS) and we can not get the display adapter to work properly - situation is as follows

1) mobile intel 4 series express chipset family and an unknown device with a question mark in device manager
2) both are on the same PCI BUS 0, device 2?
3) intel is not working because it has no free resources (should I delete the unknown device?) to work with
4) HW ID for the unknown device is pci ven_8086&dev_2A43 and for intel is pci ven_8086&dev_2A42 (so basically the same, right?)
5) last, but not least, if I go to Desktop-personalize-advanced (first of all no 1280*800 resolution) i see under adapter type: . Exactly, nothing... under properties, this appears: non plug and play device, Super VGA and under driver, I see just the status and option to Stop, Disable, Automatic, Demand.... the device on startup... .If i disable it, the display just does not light up when the laptop is turned on....
Any ideas? I am going insaneeeeee......

Vista Home Premium, all other Toshiba SW installed (value pack, intel, BIOS 1.9, etc... - maybe BIOS did this?!)

Thanks in advance!!!

p.s. maybe SP1 that I am installing now will help?!

Answer:Satellite L300 PSLBGE - Unknown device in device manager

Wait a moment: I have checked Vendor ID and Device ID on and this device is the Intel graphic card. So I think this is the reason why you can?t change the screen resolution.

I assume that you have forgotten to install the display driver. Check the Toshiba website because there you can download the driver: => Support & Downloads => Download Drivers

After this you shouldn?t have any exclamation marks anymore.

You can install SP1 for Vista but this will not solve the problem with the missing display driver. But you should install it because it contains a lot of security updates they are important. Furthermore I would recommend to install SP2 for Vista.

I have a Toshiba laptop, model L505-ES5018. I had Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit installed on here, but decided to reformat my hard drive using Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. After the reformat was finished, I ran Windows Update and it found several items to download and install for me. I noticed that it also found optional items to download and install for me, so after all the important updates installed, I ran the optional updates. After all of this installed, I checked Device Manager to see if there were any errors and I found nothing. I assumed everything was fine. I decided to check Devices and Printers and under my laptop icon, there was a yellow icon with an exclamation point on it. I decided to run the troubleshooting option when I right-clicked the gave me a solution to download a Toshiba password utility program, so I did that and nothing happened, even after restart. Same icon appeared. When I clicked on the icon a second time, I noticed that the model of my computer at the bottom of this window, changed from L505 to TIAS. I have no idea what this is. I decided to do another reformat on my hard drive. This time, I ignored the optional updates. I checked Devices and Printers again, the same icon appeared but the model of my computer said L505, like it should. There is something in the optional updates that is changing this. I recently put together a new computer, and in the process of of installing the USB 3.0 connector from the front of my GX500 case, I either bent numerous pins on the motherboard USB 3.0 header or the motherboard shipped that way and I inadvertently made matters worse. Anyway, that header on the motherboard is without a doubt unusable.
Since I don't really need the USB 3.0 functionality, I bought a USB 3.0 -> 2.0 adapter cable, connected one end to the connector on the front of the case and the other end into the USB 2.0/1.1 header on the motherboard. Unfortunately, when Windows 7 boots and I plug a device into the front ports of the case, Windows detects the front USB ports as "Unknown Device" within Device Manager yet says the driver is successfully installed. I've already downloaded the most current Intel chipset drivers for my motherboard, deleted and reinstalled all USB drivers, and all rear USB connections are working perfectly fine - it's just the two front ports that are connected from the case to the USB 2.0/1.1 ports via the adapter cable.  I've tried both USB 2.0/1.1 headers on the motherboard, and I've tried plugging in several devices to the front USB ports, and this problem still persists.
I've ensured the connection inside the case is solid, yet I cannot get Windows to recognize the front USB ports.  However, I have confirmed that power is being sent to the front ports because it charges my phone when I connect it to the front USB ports via m... Read more

Hi everybody.

I just bought myself a Powercolor Radeon HD 4890 yesterday. After installing the card and the required drivers everything works like a charm. However, every time I start up my PC I get a message saying that a new device has been found on my system. On checking Device Manager I found an "Unknown device" entry under "Other devices".

I'm attaching a screenshot of Device Manager.

Are there any drivers I'm missing? It only happened after removing my old card (after uninstalling all its drivers) and installing the Radeon.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Answer:Unknown Device In Device Manager After Installing Radeon HD 4890

I have a Powercolor Radeon HD 4890 (I also have a Gigabyte 4890 and XFX 4890 in two other PCs). I think you need to install the latest ATI Catalyst Suite. You may have installed the driver only package. Anyway, I think it has to do with the HDMI capabilities of the card. High def sound is built into the card (the HD part of the card name) and the HD sound driver is part of the Catalyst Suite. When you use an HDMI cable to an appropriate display, HD sound is also transmitted through the same cable from the Radeon graphics card.

Of course, be sure to install .NET Framework 2.0 as it is required before you can install the full Catalyst Suite. The HD sound driver won't install without it. At least I had trouble before I installed .NET 3.5. I went to Windows Update and installed .NET Framework 3.5. 2.0 is included in that update and 2.0 wasn't available separately.

I have tried searching for the 'Bluetooth stack' Driver for my model in the Driver Download pg. But i dont seem to fine one.

Details of my laptop:-

Short Model :PSC1NV (got this from Part No)

Hav you already checked the vendor and device ID in device manager? Check this please and on this website you can enter these ID?s and then you can see what device it is.

Furthermore the drivers can be downloaded from Toshiba directly: > Support & Downloads > Download Drivers

If you have more questions, please let us know! :)

I've managed to identify all other devices except this one. It appears in Device Manager as:

Location: on Intel(R) QM57 Express Chipset LPC Interface Controller - 3B07
Device Instance ID: ACPI\IFX0102\4&375529C7&0

Any suggestions?

Answer:Portege R700 (PT311E) - Unknown device in device manager on XP

In my opinion this device has something to do with chipset and therefore you have to install the Intel chipset driver. You can download all drivers on official Toshiba website:

Check also the exact vendor and device ID in device manager to identify this device. The PCI database website can help you to do this:

Hello! Does anyone knows where to find the LENOVO ENERGY MANAGEMENT SOFTWARE for the yoga 3 pro? I could not find it on the yoga 3 pro support page... I am using the one from the yoga 2 pro, but, I am having some BSODs ,which I do not know if they are caused by the wrong driver used... Thanks!

Answer:ACPI\PC2004 unknown device in device manager - YOGA 3 PRO

Hi dalmaso, and welcome to the Lenovo User Community!
Can you explain more about what you are trying to achieve with your Yoga 3 Pro? Why are you trying to run Yoga 2 Pro software?
You can find all the Yoga 3 Pro drivers either on the Lenovo D: partition of the SSD, or on the Lenovo support site.
There is no "Lenovo Energy Management Software" for the Yoga 3 Pro. One Key Optimizer manages advanced Yoga 3 Pro power options.
Hope this helps!

I'm using the W540 with an ultradock and external monitors. After upgrading my W540 to win8.1 64 bit, device manager is showing an unknown device. I'm not quite sure what it is, but almost everything seems to be working fine and Lenovo solution center isn't finding any driver updates. I did notice that the solution center hardware scan did not test the video card memory and listed that test as N/A. Video and monitors seem to be working fine though and both nvidia and intel graphics show up in device manager. Device manager lists the device in question as follows:Device instance path: ROOT\SYSTEM\0001Hardware Ids: root\iwdbusDevice stack: \Driver\PnPManager

Answer:X200 Loaded with Win XP Unknown device in device manager

All you have to do is download Lenovo Update.  A list of other updates you'll need after that are the following: Bluetooth Manager from X200 Driver Page (if you bought it)Intel 5100/5300 Drivers from Intel Webpage (if you bought it)Intel Matrix Storage 8.5 Drivers from Intel Webpage. That should be everything.

It WinXP Pro + SP 3.
In Device Manager display, as an unknown device. Try all drivers, who were on a disk along with the laptop, nothing helps. Give the solution!

Answer:Re: Satellite 5200-701: Unknown device in the device manager.

who should give you THE SOLUTION? I mean, you tried all drivers and nothing did installed... So, does your machine run properly? Does some device not work like it should?

Please check this firstly before installing all drivers without any success. Try to guess which device it could be, so then we can search for some solution.
A good beginning would be to check the device in the device manager and write some of the information which is contained in the Properties window of the device.
Please post the details which are in the properties of the device, maybe someone here in the forum can find out which device won?t work.

I assume also that the SP3 makes some problems, so another good option would be to deinstall the SP3 and go back to SP2.

When I dig deeper to see what these devices are, I get the following name for each of them;1) PCI, bus 2, device 9, function 3 and,2) PCI, bus 2, device 9, function 4When I then look at the Physical Object's Name, I get this;1) Device\NTPNP_PCI0024 and, 2) Device\NTPNP_PCI0023I'm not really sure what is going on! I tried using Win Updates to find the drivers, but it cannot find anything. I have a feeling that they may be devices for the integrated webcam and the card reader; however, I know I installed a driver for the card reader, so I am not sure what the other device is for... :sAny help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks.J

I have a Dell Studio 1737 Laptop that ran fine and had no errors. The integrated web cam also worked
fine. After upgrading to Windows 7 64 bit from Windows Vista 64 bit I have a error in the device manager.

The error listing shows unknown device, and the says "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)". I believe the error is due to the wrong driver. I think the unknown device
is the web cam, since there is no device manager listing. To verify it, I unplugged the web cam ribbon cable from the motherboard, and the bad entry...and error disappeared from the device manger, indicating all was fine now. On plugging the cable back in, the error returned.

I don't believe there is a hardware problem with the web cam, as it worked fine, prior to the upgrade.
I can find no "creative labs integrated webcam" 64 bit driver for windows 7 on dells website, or anywhere
for that matter. I tried using the vista 64 bit driver with compatibility settings, and it still didn't work.
I tried deleting, rescanning, rebooting, tried other incorrect drivers, on the device dozens of times with no luck. I've had a lot of experience dealing with device manager problems, but now I'm stuck.

Anyone have a Driver for Win 7 64 bit, or know any other ideas to try? Dells Driver listing for Win 7 64 bit
gives no listing for web cam.

I just noticed that the DVD drive of my Sony laptop (Win 8.1x64) has a yellow exclamation mark in device manager with the following error message:
"Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)"

I tried uninstalling/reinstalling the device with no luck. Any hint? Thanks

UPDATE: I solved the issue. I googled and found that by deleting the UpperFilters and/or LowerFilters value from the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} the issue is fixed. (In my case I had an UpperFilters)

Answer:Device Manager Error Code 19

Yes, I can not stress enough how everyone on Windows 8 or even 7 for that matter, should refrain from installing software with drivers that latch onto the default optical driver.

In many cases, it is a bsod waiting to happen.

If software like this is installed, always latest and keep it up to date too.

If anyone knows they have something like this, visit the maker's website and update the software to new.

Hi Folks,

We have a PC in our Graphic's Department that is having a
problem with the USB setup that controls a Xerox Color
Laser printer, an Epson Scanner and a Backpack CD Burner.
The PC is a Compaq Evo running Windows 2000 Pro. It is
completely up to date on all patches and Service Packs.

It started having problems and under Device Manager there
is a Yellow exclamation mark next to USB controller. So I
contacted Compaq and they had me try all kinds of stuff
including BIOS update, etc. and still no luck. They said
it was a software problem.

So I have been on the Windows support page searching for
Code 31 and got hits and tried various stuff with no luck.

It mentions to "Remove the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters
values completely from the following registry key:

and I did that with no luck. There are a BUNCH of other
keys under this and the article mentions removing ALL of
them. Is it safe to do that or will that possibly corrupt
other things ?

Another article at;en-
us;822368 mentions a hotfix that is from June of 2003 and
STILL has not been put in a Service Pack, etc ?? !!

Thanks for any help anyone can shed on this problem !

Answer:Code 31 Error on USB in Device Manager

Welcome to TSG!!

Found MSKB article # 125174 here

Excerpt on code 31:

Code 31 (new in Windows 98)

This device is not working properly because <device> is not working properly. (Code 31)

To view the properties for <device> and see why it is not working, click Properties."
where <device> is the dependent device that must be fixed in order for this device to work properly.

Solution button: Properties

This code appears when a device is dependent on another device to be functioning correctly. This does not include devices that are enumerated by the parent device.

The Properties button displays the properties for the other device. More than likely, the other device will also have one of these Device Manager error codes. Follow all the recommended solutions. If the devices still do not work, remove them from Device Manager and use the Add New Hardware wizard to redetect them. Finally, consult with the hardware manufacturer for updated drivers.

This may or may not be relevant and you may have already found this but I thought I'd post it just in case.

I made the stupid mistake of trying to install a HP CD writer 9100 on my W2K system, and now neither it nor my Plextor SCSI CDR will work. I uninstalled the 9100 software and removed it, but I still get the device manager error under my Plextor drive:

This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)

This device depends on another device that is not functioning correctly.

I have also tried removing and reinstalling the Plextor but to no avail.
Apparently the old HP software did something bad to my system. Can someone help?

Hi all,Foolowing this post click here I have a few more hints while looking around in the device manager, in the non plug and play devices. They are in the hidden devices so I didn't think of that. AVPG was appearing with an exclamation mark and this error: This device is not present, is not working properly, or does not have all its drivers installed. (Code 24). I couldn't update the driver since I have no idea what this is, didn't find anything with google either. I uninstalled and after a reboot, there is no more exclamation mark but the grey square next to it appears shaded. First Post so i Hope i have the correct area. My problem is hopefully simple error code 41 in device manager .All imaging devices are getting the same error "Windows successfully loaded the device driver for this hardware but cannot find the hardware device. (Code 41)" i first noticed it when i tried to open a logitech web cam and had "no cam found" i also have a JVC mini dv video camera i connect via fire wire or iEEE the card is installed correctly and reports no errors the web cam is connected via usb . I am not concerned about the web cam but the video is important. the computer is running xp sp3 oh and i have recently had troubles with a trojan downloader of some type its all claer now but this problem remains .Previously both the web cam and JVC mini dv were able to connect with out any difficulties.I have installed and uninstalled all drivers and even removed the fire wire card and replaced it in a different pci slot after powering Off the whole system (even removed the power cable).

hope you can shed some light on this
thanks guys
Bruce D.

Answer:Device manager error code 41

Let me get this straight: the JVC is connected to the PC thru a PCI firewire card. The Logitech web cam is connected via a USB port. Why would the Logitech and the JVC have anything to do with each other? If they're connected to different ports, and the JVC is on a PCI firewire card, they have absolutely nothing to do with each other. Unplug everything from your USB ports and reload your chipset drivers (available from your PC/motherboard maker). Reboot and install the Logitech drivers before plugging in the web cam. Reboot. Then plug in the web cam and see what happens. Have you tried any other USB devices? What happens with them?

I tried to install support for my Epson 1650 scanner on a Laptop running XP/SP3 but installation has failed.

The 'new hardware found' wizard started; becsuse I had run this scanner on this laptop some months ago, I elected to allow XP to install the driver (usbscan.sys I guess) automatically. The installation failed with a message telling me that the registry information for this device was either incomplete or damaged.

In device manager the device has a yellow warning triangle. When I look at the properties for the device I get a similar message, along with 'Code 19' in the message.

Re-installing the drivers from the Epson product CD does not eliminate the problem. I would really like to avoid having to re-install Windows. Is there some way i can figure out what is wrong in the registry and fix it?

it shouldn't really need a driver, windows should recognise it as a mass storage device.
Can you try in in another machine? to check if the drive is corrupted.
USBdeview download run and uninstall any devices shown not connected this gets rid of conflicting errors in the registry.
when you plug in the device, windows should then reinstall it OK

Hello everyone, I hope you could give me some clue that may have caused the appearance of an unknown device. All information here : An unknown device appears

First, That was solved by uninstalling and rebooting, did not appear anymore. But as I said in the previous topic, that solution does not leave me entirely peaceful.
Since when searching for information on the issue, some say it may be a virus. But also by the HWMonitor. I prefer it was caused by HWMonitor instead of a virus.

Can give me a hand to remove my doubts about whether it was caused by a virus or not.

I scanned all the PC with ESET 6 and nothing.

Thank you for your time and help

Sure, lets begin:

1.) Download herdprotect: (choose the portable version)

Download herdProtect - Free Anti-Malware Platform

2.) Run the scan.

3.) When the scan finishes, save the results per the screenshot below. Then upload the log here.

DO NOT REMOVE ANYTHING YET. I will advise if anything needs removed when I receive the log.

hi ktmcmo,
As per the Windows 8.1 Upgrade Guide by Lenovo, certain components and their functions might be affected after upgrading the unit to Windows 8.1 (this includes the USB Port).
Just to verify, have you tested both the USB 2.0/3.0 ports using any usb devices (flashdrive, mouse, etc.)? If you see that one port is not functioning, you can try to:
1. uninstall all USB Root Hubs under USBView or Device Manager.
2. Install the Intel Chipset Update Utility.

3. Reboot the PC and observe.

Answer:B590 - Unknown device in Device Manager

hi nikos78,
Can you check if this is the driver for it.
Check if the Hardware ID of this device is a ACPI\VPC2004
on that same windows that you posted click the Details tab and change the value to Hardware ids
Now check the detail that will show below, if that shows ACPI\VPC20004 then that is a Lenovo Energy Management Controller.

I have this exact same problem-it occurred all of the sudden one morning when I tried to log on.I believe the "Unknown Device" (one of the "System Devices" in the Device Manager) is the ATK0101 ACPI Utility and uses a driver called A0101X32.sys which seems to be nowhere on my computer (I have no idea where it went or why it vanished). However, I cannot manage to find this driver on the website and download/install it, and what's more, when I try to do so, the "Update Driver" dialog boxes informs me that the file I must find is one with the extension "*.inf" which doesn't make any sense whatsoever.Has an answer to this problem been found?

I did a fresh install of Vista about a week ago and have run into a problem. There is one item in the device manager that is listed as unknown and I can't figure out what it is so that I can download the right driver for it. The manufacturer is unknown but the location lists: on Microsoft ACPI-Compliant System.

Can anyone help me figure out what this is so that I can install a driver for it? If you need any more info, let me know.

ps - This wasn't an issue with XP

Answer:Unknown device in Vista Device Manager

Not an issue with vista either, if one had the correct driver.

What motherboard are ye using? As in make and model.

Note # 890, one may not be able to fix this, if the manufacturer of the mobo has yet to make said driver.

Hi Guys, I have R61i, 8932EAU, with Vista preinstalled.Someone helped me remove the Vista and installed with XP.Now there are some yellow question marks on the Device Manager list showing several Base System Device entries and Fingerprint Sensor and Unknown Device.I was told, this may due to missing/incorrect driver. But the problem is, how do I determine which driver is missing?Someone said, Fingerprint Sensor may not be available with XP, I don't need that anyway.I clicked on these entries, the details showing  Hardware Ids as : these are Base System Device PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_0592...PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_0843...PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_0852... this is Unknown device:ACPI\ATM120 Can the experts help? Thank you in advance.. YSM  Message Edited by ysm on 07-21-2008 06:16 PM

I have been getting a notification of a storage device failure from the Hardware Scan in the Lenovo Solution Center.  It is for the 16GB M.2 SSD memory cache device and the failures are for the Random Seek Test, Funnel Seek Test, and SMART Short Self Test.  It has been a while since I first received the notification of failure, but I have been out of warranty the entire time.  Currently, I have not noticed any issues other than getting a bluescreen related to memory management 4 days ago.  Rebooting seems to have fixed that bluescreen issue as I haven't had any other issues. My questions are:  1) Is this failure of the memory cache ssd common?  2) If it is common, and will lead to more issues, can I replace it with a new memory card?  3) If I buy a replacement memory card, once I have it installed, do I just need to run the ExpressCache service again? Thanks ahead of time for any help y'all can provide!

Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit Service Pack 1
GPU: Gigabyte 780
CPU: i7 4790
Mobo: Z87-G43 Gaming(MS-7816)

Trying to install the latest Nvidia drivers from their homepage and failing to install. Device Manager points to error code 43 from the properties.

What I think triggered the problem:
I am assuming the source of the problem was when I last had my PC on while playing tales of Beseria, I had normal graphics on and then changed it to v-sync and moved from 8x anti aliasing to 16x, then I would see my screen turn full brown for 2-3 sec then it returns to the game, but then today 1 day later I tried playing Overwatch the same thing happened but instead of returning back to the game the computer just fully froze with no blue screen. I tried to restart my computer I logged on but after that my display turned off and stopped working. I then decided to go into the different methods above then I noticed my card constantly having Error Code 43.

Troubleshooting attempts:
I tried various of methods so far I will list a few such as: removing my graphic card for 10 min to stop electricity flow, using DDU and installing various versions of Nvidia Drivers 2017, Oct-Dec version, and version 376.60. In all the various Nvidia driver version numbers (all windows 7 and 64bit) they have all failed and cannot proceed with the installation (custom installation).

Currently thinking about purchasing a new card, but I think this card can still be fixed.

OOPS... I installed "123 DVD Copy" from and tried it. My ROXIO CD/DVD software would no longer recognize my CD/DVD drive. After the trial period expired, I uninstalled "123 DVD Copy" via the uninstaller. It appears to have munched my registry... now, whenever I try to access the DVD drive (my only CDROM drive) I cannot, it seems invisible.

When I run the Windows 2000 Pro "Add/Remove Hardware" wizard, using Troubleshoot... it locates my DVD drive, but shows a yellow exclamation warning... When I select the drive, it says Device status: "Your registry might be corrupted. (Code 19)...

Other than reinstalling Windows 2000 Pro, the drive itself, and Roxio, a drastic move, are there any suggestions for healing this, and getting Windows 2k and my Roxio software to recognize my internal IDE CD/DVD burner again?

What is a safe/easy procedure for fixing a Win2k registry problem like this one?

By the way, every time I reboot my PC it takes a few hours... it is 60x slower than normal. Appears that some device or driver is flodding the bus with traffic... Eventually, it heals itself, but no joy on any access to the CD/DVD drive.

Answer:DVD drive - Device Manager Error code 19 ???

By the way, I am a bit averse to try rebooting since it takes a few hours...

Besides the Win2k Install CD, I have a Norton Systemworks 2002 and another CD "Speedy Boot Disk" that claims to be able to help me edit my registry... BUT... I am not sure how to force my Compaq Deskpro to reboot from the CD ROM drive? F8??? I have another partition on the hard drive that should be bootable, but I cannot remember how to force selection of a boot drive or boot partiton... ???

I have tried all 3 of the drivers with same results.  NXP NearFieldProximity Device Manager Error code 31sp70214.exesp71250.exesp70217.exe In Device manager:   This device is not working properly because windows cannot load the drivers required for this device.  (Code 31){Operation failed}The requested operation was unsuccessful. On windows 8.1 fully updated. I have restarted.  I have removed the drivers.  I used all drivers from the HP download page.  I have toggled NFC off in the BIOS which makes the device disappear from Device Manager.  Then toggled back on, still no luck.  When uninstalling the drivers using C:\program files\nxpproximityinstaller\uninstall.exe I get 2 unknown devices in device manager Any suggestions.  I have clean installed windows twice trying to fix.

Answer:NXP NearFieldProximity Device Manager error code 31

Hi: Did you try manually installing the driver? If not, give that a try. If you do not know how to manually install a driver, let's use sp71250. Go to the device manager and click on the problem device. Then click on the driver tab.  Click on Update Driver. Select the Browse my computer for driver software option, and then at the bottom of that window, select the Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer. Click on Have Disk, and browse to:  C:\SWSetup\sp71250\driver_binaries\x64\Proximity\x64\nfcgpiomanager and select the Nfc GPIO Driver and see if the driver installs that way. Then reboot.

I have an issue with an HP deskjet D4363. It worked just fine when I bought it in November and then just stopped.... At first it would print 3 or 4 lines and then freeze. Now it does nothing and isn't even recognised by windows as a printer... I have a code 43 error unrecognised device in my device manager under usb.I have uninstalled the printer and drivers, deleted temp files, reinstalled on windows selective start-up with latest driver download from HP website. At first the printer drivers installed and I could access the print menu and attempt to print, but now the driver won't even install and there is no printer even though the drivers have been installed. Tried all available usb ports... at my wits end because I don't understand how it can work one day and the next not!

My laptop is new (bought in december 2011) and has no problems with any other usb devices. I have updated all drivers and applied all updates. I have followed all the HP troubleshooting guides

Answer:Printer error code 43 in device manager

Your printer should still be under warranty and I would call HP. The error code sounds more like an HP diagnostic code referencing a problem with the printer.

I've just upgraded my 6 year old computer from Win XP to Win 7.

In Device Manager, there is an item with a yellow caution under Other Devices called "PCI Input Device". The Device Properties indicates Code 28. I searched both the Internet and the computer but couldn't find a driver.

I ran Belarc Advisor and didn't see any hardware errors.

There doesn't seem to be any more specific clues regarding the component causing this error and there also doesn't seem to be any hardware that isn't working. (at least not that I have found)

Can anyone point me in the right direction to fix this problem?

Hi Guys

My E Drive (DVD/CD) has disappeared. Everything else is working fine, all other drives.

I have searched on here for solutions and have seen to check the Device Manager. On checking there is this error message with a yellow exclamation mark.

"Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)"

I saw a post already on here re error code 19 but didnt understand it.

The DVD/CD drive was working the other day, but I have recently swopped laptops with my husband and saving my files from my old laptop to both the Boot C Drive and recover D drive. Mainly to the Boot C Drive as it had more space.

I have a medion Akoya E7220, 4GB, 64 bit
Windows 7 Home Premium.

It doesnt sound damaged as I can hear the DVDs in it whirring and reading it.

I really hope I can sort this out as I have spent at least a day swopping the darn things over.

Laywoman's terms appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

Answer:DVD drive disappeared - Device Manager error Code 19

Go to the Control Panel, Device Manager, CD/DVD and click to open the Driver's Tab and uninstall the driver. Reboot the computer to reset it and see if it mounts at this point.

If not:
Many times deleting the Upper and Lower filters entry in the registry will fix this. See Resolution subsection. Written for Vista, but works in Win 7 as well...

Be sure to get the right key, there are several there that are very close in name to the one you want.

I'd sure appreciate some guidance on addressing  a keyboard device driver error.  Things were fine at shutdown yesterday, but today, the keyboard. Keyboard shows as a yellow alert with code 39.  I've uninstalled and reinstalled driver but it reinstalls with the same alert.code.  I tried a find update but windows found nothing newer.  I looked on the Lenovo download site but didn't see a keyboard driver.  Couldn't get into safe mode, but did alter msconfig via onscreen keyboard to boot insto diagnostic mode, but same results.  Any help is greatly appreciated...this seems it shouldn't be that hard and sure I'm missing something obvious.  Thanks

Answer:T61 non responsive keyboard: device manager error code 39

After giving up and posting my request for help, I found the answer.  One more web search turned up a clue which led elsewhere...and I found that an update to Threatfire which I run had failed to copy a new keyboard  driver tfkbmon.sys (used to assist in detection of keylogging apparently) into the drivers folder.  Things worked fine after update but the reboot was the culprit and I had forgotten about the program asking to install an update earlier.  Downloaded the file from the TF community forum into the drivers folder and all is now good to go.  Thanks

I have a Satellite A80 127. I have an issue with my CD drive.

When I was trying to upgrade my XP home edition to XP Pro SP2, display said on rebooting that it couldn't read from my CD drive. On inspection I found that my CD/DVD drive is unable to read CDs though it can read DVDs. From what I remember, it was working fine couple of days before.

I was trying to locate the source of problem and through the Troubleshoot option I found that I have a yellow exclamation mark against my SCSI/RAID host controller in my Device Manager (with error code 39). I haven't been able to update the driver it will give me error message. Also, there was a Nero SCSI/RAID controller. I tried removing it to check whether the main one works, but still no success.

Any suggestion would be great and in the meantime I will try to find similar threads.

Hello everyone!

I'm encountering a really annoying and unpredictable problem: for a reason I ignore, my mice (Mad Catz RAT 7) isn't recognized by Windows and has just stop working.

When I plug it in, the mice's leds lights up 10sec then suddently light off, and the cursor/clics don't move/operate at all.
I've tested my RAT 7 on a different computer (Dell XPS 13 L322X, running Windows 10), it works. Then, I plugged a different mice on my computer (Dell XPS 15 9560, running Windows 10), this one didn't work and wasn't recognized too.
Moreover, all my USB ports works correctly (tested with other stuff like USB Drive, External Drive, External SoundCard, Windows Phone...).

So, the problem is on the software side.

There what my device manager shows:

We can see that the RAT 7 is still recognized as the driver is still installed on my computer.
Since, I've tried to uninstall/reinstall this driver, but it didn't change anything to my problem.

On the picture, we can see a "PS/2 compatible mice" that can't actually rune (error code 10):

I've tried to uninstall this device from device manager, and plugging again my RAT 7, without success.
I've tried to uninstall everything under "USB bus" including the host one and restart, without success too.

I've tried this tricks too:

_built-in Windows problem/issue solver in administrator mode + Microsoft Fix it tools
_attempt to delete registry keys "Upperfilter"/"Lowerfi... Read more

Answer:USB MICE UNUSABLE / Error CODE 10 Device Manager (PS/2 Bug)

Welcome to the TenForums @tomboudiboudi

I thought it was interesting that a second or different mouse was also not recognized by your system if I read this correctly.

If you type mouse into Cortana and go to Mouse settings some devices have a setting that says disable touchpad when external mouse detected. One thought is the system is confused. Maybe enable, save and then disable. If you don't have this option, right at the bottom, it says additional mouse setting. This takes you to the traditional mouse/touchpad setting. On the touchpad tab you should be able to do the same.

Additionally, on the hardware tab do your two devices show. I would also ask that you confirm that windows has properly identified the correct touchpad. One of my thoughts is that your touchpad, even if it works, is not installed correctly. I have a dell and my touchpad will work but I can't get at functions until I install the Alps driver. So first things first lets make sure it is id'ed correctly and it has the latest driver. Likely have to confirm with Dell as to actual touchpad installed.

Next I would uninstall mouse and driver for mouse as you've. Then with mouse disconnected I would install the Mad Catz drivers and then I would connect device.

My suggestions, hopefully others will have other ideas.

Hi buddy,

What about your OS (operating system)?
No info about this?!... Why??

In your case I would try this:
Remove the old webcam driver and restart the notebook.
Start CCleaner to clean the registry and Windows
Restart again
Install the latest driver from the Toshiba page.

Loaded Windows Vista Business edition as my new OS for studies and course work. Now my display driver is no longer working properly.

Device Manager shows the following message concerning the ATI Mobility Radeon 9600/9700 display adapter: "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)"

Have search all over the web for solutions but limited knowledge is preventing me from getting a positive result. There must be someone out there that can help...

Answer:Satellite P30 - Error code 43 on graphic card in device manager

Hi BigPappaDom,

In my opinion to get rid of this you have to reinstall the display driver. I have checked the Toshiba website and for Satellite P30 are no Vista drivers available. That means you have to search yourself to get all drivers. :(

I have a little bit searched and you should try installing the display driver from Satellite P200D. It?s also equipped with ATI graphic card and this driver should be compatible to your older one: > Support & Downloads > Download Drivers
Notebook > Satellite > Satellite P Series > Satellite P200D > Display Driver

Check this!!!

Can someone offer me some advice please.

Answer:DVD-ROM drive Code 37 error message in device manager on Satellite M30

I have investigated in the Microsoft knowledge base and it seems that this error appears because the driver returned failure from its Driver Entry routine.
I think you should uninstall the driver, and then click Scan for hardware changes to reinstall or upgrade the driver.

You can do this in the device manager. In another way you could remove the drive from the device manager list and after new notebook reboot the OS should recognize the drive again.
After this procedure you should test the device if it will work.

I have a Satellite L300D model PSLC0E and have just installed Windows 7 upgrade from Vista, all is running well apart from HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-T50N ATA DEVICE and ATI. With the HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-T50N ATA DEVICE there is a driver problem it says <Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)>it seems to do with NTI Backup 4, have tried updating to NTI Backup Now 4.5 but still no luck.

With ATI I have run updates and reinstalled the program, checking the system it shows that it is installed and the every thing is running but I do not seem to be able to change the display settings the largest is 1200 x 800, I seem to think that with ATI there should be more but not sure because when I start to run a game the screen size changes to 1024 x 768 and i cannot change anything. Any body got any Ideas?

Answer:Satellite L300D - Error code 19 in device manager on CD/DVD drive

1)Have you also tried to remove the upper- and lowerfilters in registry? I have noticed in forum that this does solve this error code. On the Microsoft Knowledge Base you can find a workaround for this:

2)I have also Satellite L300D and the maximum screen resolution is 1200x800. So you can set a higher screen resolution on internal monitor, this is only possible on external monitor.
And normally you can change the screen resolution in every game. Check this!!!

I have decided to try Windows 7 but the usb ports don't work in device manager all the usb root hubs have a yellow triangle and the device status says "Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)".

I've tried uninstalling them through device manager and restarting the computer and downloading and reinstalling the vista drivers, as I can't seem to find Windows 7 drivers, but none of that fixed anything. I was wondering if there was anything else I could try or if I could get a link to the right drivers.

The USB ports are usually part of the Chipset. So you should install the Intel Chipset Driver Package for Vista. If it still doesnt work, you could try the Win7 driver from (its the Intel 945 chipset I think)

It?s really hard to say what is causing this problem on your notebook. Do you use the same drivers as on your other PC?

Are you running factory settings or have you installed your own version?

In your case I would try to update the chipset drivers on and BIOS. Both you can find on the Toshiba website.

Alternative you should contact the manufacture of your USB modem. Maybe they can tell you more about this issue?

I'm experiencing slim keyboard not being recognized in the Windows 8.1
The keyboard was working fine until just one day it just stopped working.
I tried factory reset literally 8 times along with most recent BIOS update and dell's recommended update software. + power setting --> disabling power saving on USB
It still come up as unrecognized each time even with fresh reinstall.
I was wondering if this is a hardware issue or just software bug from factory reset.
I don't think there is a available driver for this kind of problem is there?
