Preferred Solution: How to enable two-finger scrolling on startup?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: How to enable two-finger scrolling on startup?

Kindly update the BIOS and UltraNav driver.

This should resolve the issue.

This morning, I decided to make the jump to Windows 10 from Windows 8.1, and I have to say, the design looks simpler to use, but this new OS software has done something with my touchpad. Originally, on my Windows 8.1, I was able to scroll through whatever web pages or folders in my computer with one finger using my touchpad. With this new update, initially, I thought it broke my touchpad completely, but the problem has been narrowed down to having to now use two fingers to scroll in the most awkward way as this touchpad doesn't seemed to be designed for two finger scrolling. Is there a way for me to change this back? Would I have to revert back to Windows 8.1 to get my one finger scrolling back?

The laptop I am using is a Gateway NE56R34u, and the touchpad is an ELAN. Any and all help would be much appreciated.

Answer:How to change from two-finger scrolling back to one-finger scrolling?

Would Gateway drivers for their touchpad be one area to explore ?

I was looking at a Logitech touchpad, and it appears their drivers are what controls the response/numbers of fingers/digits.

I just bought a Yoga 3 14" and I have an issue with the touchpad: when I use the two finger scrolling function, it doesn't stop scrolling unless I lift both fingers off the touchpad. All other notebooks I have used before stopped scrolling when I lifted just one finger, alowing me to resume controlling the pointer with just one finger. This is very annoying, and I would like to know how to change this behaviour.

Thanks

I just upgraded my Yoga 2 Pro to windows 10 and my touchpad was acting crazy--for example, I could only get a window to scroll when it was out of focus.  I tried reinstalling my touchpad drivers, and it took about 5 attempts to get it working at a basic functionality.  However, this process caused an egregious change to basic scrolling behavior.  When I used to scroll with two fingers, I could stop scrolling by lifting one finger, and my mouse would return to being a cursor.  Now, when I lift one finger, it continues to scroll, and it will only stop scrolling once I lift the second finger.  So if I'm moving my cursor around, and I drop a finger down for just a brief moment, I won't stop scrolling until I completely remove my hand from the touchpad. I tried reinstalling the driver, I tried installing the Lenovo Windows 10 touchpad driver, (64-bit)

I had a problem with two-finger scroll (2FS) in large Word documents. 2FS would not work in the document pane when the file is large. It would continue to work in any of the other panes (e.g., Navigation and Styles).  2FS worked fine in any other program. I tried all of the drivers available from HP and none seemed to work. I reloaded Office and that didn't fix anything. Finally, I went to the Synaptics site and downloaded their base driver for Windows 10 (19.0.19.1). That driver works fine. Not only does the base driver work, it has more features than the drivers available throuh HP. I think that, in the process of defeaturing the driver, something got screwed up. Use the basic Synaptics driver. I have not seen any problems wit the 19.0.19.1 driver.

Check please all touchpad options. There you should find all available options including multi-finger scrolling. When you enable it you will be able to make vertical or horizontal window scrolling by dragging two fingers across smart pad.

I know it's possible on other makes of laptop so why does lenovo disable the single finger scrolling options in the touchpad configuration ? I have seen this on various different modelsEssentially its just a customised version of the standard Elantech software, you can easily enable it with Acer machines using Elan touchpads for example or Hp  ones with a synaptics touchpad and even on Dell ones using a slight workaround so how come lenovo have the options removed ?I personally don't mind so much but my parents being older struggle to use 2 fingers, having the option to enable it for them would have been a big benefit. As it stands they may well be returning their laptop for an Hp oneIt just seems like a pointless customisation of a perfectly good driver, I could possibly understand it for windows 8.1 with the charms and edge swipe etc but all that has gone with windows 10 anyway so why not have a different version of the driver for use with windows 8.1 and let windows 7 or 10 users be able to use their touchpad in the way they prefer

However, when I scroll left the screen moves right and when I scroll right on touchpad, the screen moves left. I want the screen to move the direction I scroll on the touchpad. If you have a Yoga 2 Pro, install the latest Yoga 1 touchpad driver and then Control Panel...Change Mouse Settings...Device Settings...Settings will bring up the Synaptics Control Panel.  In the Multi-Finger tab you'll find checkboxes for Enable Vertical Scrolling and Enable Horizontal Scrolling. http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS032590

I have a new T410 with UltraNav touch pad that does not always scroll and when it does its very choppy. - I have "Enabled Two-Finger scrolling" checked- Driver provider: Synaptics- Driver date: 4/22/2010- Driver version: 15.0.18.0 I am using windows 7 64bit. My wife has a macbook pro with two-finger scrolling that works flawlessly. Anyone else seen this problem or can point me in the right direction?

Answer:Two-Finger scrolling choppy at best

Put two fingers down on the touch pad then after a moment scroll down. You can't begin scrolling with two fingers right away. You must first "place" them on the touch pad, then drag them down. (This is the way my touch pad works.)

I recently got a new laptop with Windows 8 and upgraded to Windows 8.1.

I absolutely love the two finger scroll feature. It's very convenient in web browsers and the start menu. However, it doesn't always work, and I can't find a trend for when it works. It simply works sometimes and not others.

Where can I configure the settings so that I always have two finger scroll?

Answer:Two finger scrolling doesn't always work

Thru playing around I found that 2 finger scroll won't work if one finger starts off of the edge of the pad. Make sure that both fingers plant on the pad itself when starting a scroll. I operate my pad with my left hand and I had a lot of trouble accidentally hitting the left edge when I first got win 8. I long ago disabled whatever the left edge swipe was. The same might be true for the right edge for right-handers.

Currently 2 finger scroll is reliable for me. I guess it could also be a driver issue with your particular pad.

The two finger scrolling on my Hp Dv6 is not working. but the touchpad is still working. I went to the mouse properties and checked to see if possibly the two finger scrolling option had been unchecked but it was still there. Also the four finger flick multi finger command still works on my touchpad so I know the touchpad still works well. Any idea why just the scrolling wouldnt be working? It is so frustrating having to move the mouse over to the scroll bar to scroll up and down. Please Help!!

Hello everyone I have a S440 (touch version) and some Problems with two finger scrolling on the touchpad.First, it isn't smooth, i.e.. If I move my fingers it only starts scrolling after a second or so, basically when I've already stopped (unless I move very slow). It then makes up for the lost time by scrolling very fast. The more serious problem (that makes it practically unusable) is that it randomly jumps back up, often to the top of the page/document, sometimes just a page or so. The problems are worst with firefox and acrobat, with IE and the Microsoft reader there's no response time problem but the jumping upwards still occurs. The problem is there with the preinstalled Windows 8 as well as my own Windows 8 Pro (with the original Lenovo drivers). Scrolling with the Trackpoint and an external mouse work fine, as well as scrolling via the touchscreen.  Does anyone have any suggestion if/how I can fix this?

Answer:Problem with two finger scrolling on s440

I had the problem of the page jumping to the very bottom/top on my S431. Try going to device manager and checking the driver version for the driver for the UltraNav pointing device. In my case, after rolling back the driver the problem went away. The version I am using now is 16.4.2.4, I believe the newer driver was something along the lines of 16.6.x.x The synaptics utility for setting up multi-finger gestures will revert to an older version and won't be as pretty anymore, but at least you'll be able to scroll like a normal human being  I hope this will help.

What's up everybody! I have a weird case of scrolling behavior in Chrome and Opera browsers. When I do the usual two-finger scrolling, the page "twitches" and "wiggles", sometimes you can see how it tries to increase the scale but then changes its mind - and weird squares around the place, where the cursor used to be, appear and disappear randomly. Almost like the page is not sure if I am scrolling, pinching or just moving the cursor. Worst part, quickly those squares go to the edge of the screen and scrolling simply stops, even the weird sporadic one. Firefox and IE scroll properly, with no apparent problems. Other Windows software scroll properly. The touchpad manufaturer is ALPS, the driver is the latest that tech support could give me. Deep in the driver options, there is an option called Zoom Perfect. When I disable it, scrolling in Chrome starts working as it should - but then two-finger scrolling in other places, like Windows Start Screen stops working at all. Anyone ha? problems like that before? Any known solutions? Thanks in advance.

I have seen one or two similar posts, but none quite like the problem I am experiencing, and none with a solution that works for me. Periodically, randomly, the 2 finger scrolling function on my y40 stops working. This used to occur maybe once a week, but recently it's been happening every day, sometimes more than once a day. I cannot determine any cause. Usually I am in google chrome when scrolling stops, but the scrolling stops functioning in all windows-- EXCEPT task manager, for some reason. If I open task manager, I can scroll within that window only, even while scrolling refuses to work in all other windows. Wen scrolling stops, I can still use 2 finger zoom, right-click-- I can do all of the other things I would do, just no scrolling (the one thing I use the most......)My synaptics driver is updated. I have uninstalled and reinstalled it. Checking and unchecking the 2 finger scroll functionality in synaptics properties does not help. What else can I possibly do to troubleshoot this problem? Right now, the only way I can re-enable 2 finger scrolling is to reboot my system, which is very, very annoying. Any suggestions would be welcome!

I've had this issue from day 1 when I upgraded to Windows 10. I tried many versions of drivers downloaded and installed from Lenovo support, directly from Synaptics, and also using Windows Update which installed whatever it is that it installs as the driver package. All of them have the same issue -- when using two finger scrolling on the touchpad of my Thinkpad T430 on Windows 10, the cursor freezes for 2-5 seconds and does not respond to the touchpad usage.I am able to scroll without any issue of the kind using two fingers when on Windows 7 with a Synaptics/Lenovo driver, and also on Ubuntu and other Linux Live CDs (which use open source Synaptics driver built into X Windows system). I am suspecting a driver issue, which is buried so deep into Synaptics driver architecture that they are unwilling to do anything about it, with it possibly affecting a minor enough percentage of their users. What I have noticed is that the page fault counter for the SynTPEnh.exe process spikes through the roof when scrolling, at a rate of about a 1000 (!!!) page faults per second (while scrolling) and now sitting at half a million after an hour of desktop usage, fourth place among all processes after Firefox, Windows Defender and Windows Service Host. For a touchpad driver this should be a giant alarm bell ringing. I don't know if this is related to the issue, but it's not a good sign.Anyway, has anyone similar issues, and what can I do about it? I don't want to use the laptop with the default ... Read more

Hey, I'm a new lenovo user. The trackpad on my SL410 is nice, but the two finger scrolling feature is unacceptable. Its unresponsive, or zips me to the top of the page when I'm trying to scroll down. Just bought  a Carbon X1 with windows 10. Everything works except for scrolling with one finger on trackpad as I always did on my E450. Called support and he installed new drivers but still no scrolling. Trackpad works for cursor movement and clicking. Called support back and fix is to return laptop for motherboard replacement. Seems extreme and last ime I sent in E450 for disk drive and motherboard replacement laptop became erratic. Rather not have even a trained technician opening up a brand new $1500 laptop. I have two questions:1) Should single finger scrolling work on my Carbon X12) Is there a setting for scrolling. I recall on my E450 running windows 10 that I was able to specify where I wanted scrolling to be active on the trackpad (Left edge, right edge and even width of active path.

Everyone with other manufacturers seem to have ways of increasing the speed by opening up the software specific to the installed hardware, but Dell doesn't seem to have that. And the only scroll speed option that I can find in the mouse options is for a mouse, not a touchpad.
I really want this laptop to work. Please help me.

From what I can see, this is a common problem with the Synaptics touchpad but the fixes I've found on other websites do not appear to work on my machine. As I understand it, when two-finger scrolling with my touchpad on Windows 10 (in IE11), rather than sending mouse scrollwheel  events, the Synaptics drivers actually control the scrollbar instead.  Whilst this is fine for most sites, it means that zooming doesn't work on Google Maps with the scroll gesture.  I'm also unable to scroll on webpages which have "virtual" scrollbars rather than using IE's native scrolling.  I couldn't remember an example although it appears to even affect elements on a page e.g.http://manos.malihu.gr/repository/custom-scrollbar/demo/examples/complete_examples.htmlNone of the elements scroll with a scroll gesture however if I plug in a mouse with a scrollwheel, they do scroll. Similarly, one can't scroll on this page but can with a proper mouse scrollwheelhttp://alvarotrigo.com/fullPage/  Does anyone know of any kind of fix for this as it's incredibly frustrating! Thanks in advance for any help.

Hello, every time I attempt to use 2-finger scrolling or right click it doesn't work at all. I tried switching the left and right click buttons and the right click works as left click, so I assume this is a software issue. Please help! I am using a ThinkPad T520 with Windows 10.

I would prefer one-finger scrolling along the right and lower edges of the touchpad (like my old Toshiba Satellite) but this Satellite Pro L850-1MJ has two-finger scrolling in the middle of the touchpad which is counter-intuitive (push up to scroll down) and more importantly means I have to hold my hand in a position which is killing my wrist.

If I go into mouse settings, I can switch on/off the various 'multi-finger' options relating to two-finger scrolling, and there is a separate option 'scrolling' - if I tick the box on I get a little graphic demonstration of one-finger scrolling, but it doesn't actually turn on the one-finger scrolling.

Can I get one-finger scrolling on this laptop? If so, how?

'Settings' tell me I have Synaptics TouchPad v7.5 on PS/2 Port and Synaptics Pointing Device v16.2.10.3 14 Aug 12

Any answers gratefully received, preferably before my wrist drops off!

Elaine

Answer:Satellite Pro L850 - Synaptics one-finger scrolling

I don't know which version and settings do you have but if Synaptic settings on your machine looks like this than don't use ?Two finger scrolling? and enable option ?Scrolling?.
Click on this option and on the animation you will see how it works.

I have a ThinkPad Yoga S1 with a clean and up-to-date installation of Windows 10 Pro. Synaptics driver version 19.0.17.27 is installed.Two-finger touchpad scrolling rarely works in several UWP/Metro apps such as Calendar and Groove Music. When I attempt to scroll, a little crosshair appears on the screen and moves up and down instead of moving the page. Every once in a while it actually does scroll, but only at random and immediatey stops working again.Strangely enough, if the UWP window is in the background behind another window and isn't currently in focus, two-finger scrolling works fine. Non-UWP/Metro applications do not seem to be affected by this problem.Any help would be greatly appreciated.-gyokuroEDIT: I found a temporary workaround right after I posted this that doesn't fix the issue, but at least makes it less of an annoyance until this is fixed. If you click on the taskbar and then try to scroll in a UWP app, it works fine, and the tiny crosshair doesn't appear either.

Two-finger scrolling has suddenly stopped working on my Yoga 710. A reboot hasn't worked. Two-finger zoom still works, but when I try to scroll it malfunctions. Pulling two fingers down on the touchpad minimises the window. Pushing two fingers up takes me to miniature view of all my open windows. Very occasionally it will scroll slightly in one direction but not the other, but I can't get it to happen often enough to work out why it works occasionally. What is going wrong? EDIT: It now seems that the zoom is a bit finicky too. It works much of the time when I try to enlarge or shrink Facebook in my browser, but not all the time.

Hello,

I recently bought a Lenovo Y700 running W10. I am trying to get it set up the way I like and cannot find an option to use one-finger scrolling with my touchpad (two-finger scrolling is an option and works just fine).

I am updated to driver 19.0.19.1, but for some reason when I go to Mouse Properties it lists the driver version as 19.0.17.26. I'm not sure if this is related. Here are some screen caps of the driver discrepancy as well as the UI for the mouse, which has no option for one-finger scrolling. How do I enable this?

Thanks for any advice you can give me!

Answer:Synaptics touchpad V1.2 - no option for one-finger scrolling?

I'm thinking that's on purpose. If you did that, how would you then move the cursor on screen? Single finger is cursor movement, two finger is scroll. It's a touch pad not a touch screen.

Hi, I just received my new HP Envy 14 today and I'm having some issues with it. In the instructions, it says that two finger scrolling and zoom is a feature on this laptop, but it isn't working a bit for me. Also, very often when i try to left click, nothing comes up. This happens a lot on the desktop when trying to right click multiple files selected. This is my first windows 7 pc. Is this some hidden feature that I'm unaware of? Thanks.

I like to scroll in the direction the text is hidden. For example, if I want to scroll DOWN, I swipe DOWN on the touchpad. This works fine in webpages, open windows, documents, etc. However, in the Start Menu or any other Settings menu in Windows 10, the scrolling is reversed. If I swipe DOWN, the screen goes in the opposite way of what I expect. This is only happening in the Windows Menu and Setting Menus.  I had synaptics driver have the inverted scrolling off.  How do I make it so that the scrolling direction is uniform EVERYWHERE?

I got this laptop in August, and I didn't have any problems with the laptop. However about a month ago, the 2 finger scrolling on the trackpad has stopped working. I've made sure that 2 finger scrolling is selected in the mouse settings, but no matter what I do, 2 finger scrolling doesn't work. I've updated my mouse drivers and everything to the latest versions as well, but that didn't fix the problem either. Any clues as to why this might be happening?  Thanks, Mitch

Two-Finger Scrolling in Windows 8 doesn't seem to work properly on my U300S Synaptics trackpad.Instead of just scrolling through the tiles or app on the Windows 8(.1) startscreen, individual apps are higlighted and scrolled through like when I use the arrow-keys on a regular keyboard. Also, in the metro version of Internet Explorer you should be able to move back and forth in the browser history by horizontally doing a two-finger-scroll gesture. Do I have to install anything besides the Synpatics driver to get this to work properly?

Hello, I want to know how to turn on vertical and horizontal edge scrolling using only one finger on my IdeaPad 700 touchpad. When I go to Control Panel -> Mouse Settings, I only see the vertical and horizontal edge scrolling options as two-finger touchpad functions. Is there a different driver I can install? Previous Lenovo models have allowed me to scroll with only one finger, and that's my preference. If I can't get that to work, I'd rather return the laptop. I have a G510 running Windows 8.1 and have the ELAN Smart-Pad software.  It took me a while to get used to the new gestures on Windows 8, but was finally enjoying scrolling down webpages by using 2 fingers and swiping to the right (down) and left (up).  I was using the laptop and closed my programs an d closed the lid to have some lunch.  When I came back, I could no longer scroll down on a webpage by 2 finger swiping to the left or right.  In order to scroll up or down now, I have to use the 2 fingers and swipe up and down.  Before this incident, I was able to use either way, 2 finger swipe to the right, left, up, and down.   I have tried restarting my computer, rolling back the driver, re-installing the new driver.  I also opened up the mouse settings in ELAN and reset everything back to default.  I've double and triple checked that both "Vertical" and "Horizontal" scrolling is checked and enabled.  I've restarted my computer a total of about 10 times now trying everything I can think of.  Nothing works.  I haven't downloaded any updates lately at all and this just happened out of nowhere.  I've googled and searched these threads and have found nothing that describes my problem exactly, although there are some similar issues.  Can someone help?  Thanks in advance.

Hi there, I've had my X1 Yoga for a while now, and two-finger scrolling in all apps seem to be great. But for some reason, two finger scrolling in the Windows 10 start menu is NOT great. It's super glitchy and seems to stop abruptly. Normally if you swipe down and lift your fingers, there's still some inertia that will continue the scrolling a bit - but the start menu seems to stop instead of continuing with inertia among other issues. Long story short - two-finger scrolling in the Windows 10 start menu sucks on my X1 yoga. Is anyone else with an X1 Yoga having this issue? Is there any way to fix this? I can post a video to show what i'm talking about if needed. Thanks!

Two finger touchpad scrolling in Chrome desktop mode has been pretty bad on my T440s until the recent driver update.  But after the update, I've noticed now that in the tiles version of remote desktop, two finger scrolling no longer works.  It acts as a right mouse click and hold to select text or drag.  In the desktop version of remote desktop on windows 8.1, two finger scrolling works fine. I saw an article about editing the Synaptics config file to get two figure scrolling to work in the desktop version by adding a lince that references mstsc.exe, but that line is already in my Synaptics config file.  Not sure how to get Synaptics to pass gestures when using the tiles/metro version of RDP.   Any ideas?

Hi everyone, Just received my brand new Yoga X1 2nd gen and everything's fine. The only thing that drives me crazy is the scrolling direction when using the two finger scrolling on the touch pad. I want to reverse it as I'm used to it on all other computers I've ever used before. How do I do this? There're some articles, also in this forum, pointing to advanced settings of the Synaptics tab included in the mouse settings. So i just recivece my new u430, and overall i'm pretty happy. I have a few issues with the touchpad though. There's no way of deactivating the fact that it keeps scrolling when my fingers reach the bottom or top of the touchpad. This is annoying, as i can't see when it will start scrolling automatically, it just suddenly starts. Another thing is that when i start scrolling with two fingers, and then lift a finger to navigate the mouse instead, it keeps scrolling until i lift both fingers off the trackpad, and then i can start to navigate. This feels very unneccessary, and it didn't do this on my old Asus computer.  Is there a general workaround for the sloppy driver, or do i have to live with these "features"? Best regards,Andreas

This is based on the Elan touchpad. Do you think the one finger scrolling is similar to the edge swipe? Maybe its not enable. Two or more finger scrolling is under multifinger configuration menu. But there is no scrolling option in One finger menu but only the edge swipe option.

Recently I created a new user account (not under Family Group) after the Windows 10 update. In this new account, the touchpad no longer gets to the top or bottom of webpage with two finger flick, unlike my old account. The scrolling distance is small and only gets me up a quarter or half a page. The only way I can circumvent this is to have maximum inertia - even with this setting, it usually gets me across 80% of a long webpage but not to the top/bottom of the page.I have the same issue in Microsoft Word (haven't tried other programs besides PDF - which has a pathetic scrolling distance in both accounts). Also in this new user account, the three-finger flick serves a similar function as alt + tab, whereas in the older account, the three-finger flick works as a backward/forward function in Google Chrome, which I much prefer. I have searched mouse properties and compared the settings with my older user account (created before Windows 10) and the settings are identical!! I can't seem to find what the issue is. Any help appreciated!!

So basically two finger scrolling is beautiful and smooth on internet explorer, but very laggy and poor in Chrome and Firefox. It is the only thing that kept me from using Chrome, but the lack of extensions on IE is getting to me. Anybody know a fix or workaround?

Answer:2015 XPS 13 - Two finger scrolling issues in chrome and firefox

So the SmoothScroll chrome extension helps a little, but I still notice some jumping now and again. I've read that it's the 200x scaling that causes the problem, and that the latest Windows updates solves the issue, but I have the latest updates and haven't noticed any difference. I'd try seeing if you can handle changing the scaling.Hopefully we'll get some drivers and patches soon

When I two finger scroll on the touchpad through webpages on firefox sometimes i get a constant beeping noise. It is very prevalent on websites that load more content based on how far you scroll down, however if I scroll up for a bit the beeps starts again. The beeping is constant and occurs until i stop scrolling. I tried scrolling on the same webpages in chrome and the beeping never happens. I tried scrolling through firefox in safemode and the beeping still occurs. Also, the beeping occurs sometimes when I am at the bottom of a webpage and try to scroll down further even though there is nothing further to scroll down to. One finger scrolling using the side of the touchpad does not cause the issue and scrolling using the mouse and the scroll bar on the side of the webpage does not cause the issue either. It only happens when two finger scrolling. I have tried using process manager to isolate where the noise is coming from, but apparently the beep is not a .wav or .mp3 file so no path is displayed when the beep occurs. This issue just started after the last Windows 10 update. I have a feeling the issue lies in a newly installed Synaptics ThinkPad UltraNav Driver that was automatically installed during the update. I tried rolling back the driver but when i do this windows just delets synaptic driver altogether. Anyone have a solution for this issue? Thanks.

Is there any way to invert the two-finger scrolling on the touchpad?  The default behaviour is for a gesture downwards to scroll the screen up, and a gesture upwards to scroll the screen down - probably taken from OSX and easily the worst and most frustrating "feature" of my new laptop at work.  There is no option to reverse this in the touchpad settings.

It just kind of freaks out on me, in Chrome instead of scrolling, the pointer disappears and it just zooms in and out, almost as if its being recognized as touchscreen input. It did this on Win 8.1 as well when the screen resolution was set at 1080p instead of 1800p. However when it was at full res i had no problem. Anyone else come across this issue?

I am having similar problems, although I don't have the zoom issue- it is simply not scrolling.   very frustrating when you are accustomed to this method.   My resolution was also reset, but I don't find that as much of an issue- the scrolling I can't fix.

I have an X1 Carbon that I recently upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10. Another interesting data point is that my work computer (a Lenovo T440p) is also running the same version of the Synaptics driver (19.0.17.27) and two-scrolling works fine everywhere, so the problem seems to be model-specific.

I have a Lenovo Yoga 2 (base non-pro) 11 W8.1 with all the latest updates from microsoft.   The trackpad has never worked successfully with 2-finger scrolling.   There was a lot of buzz in 2014 on the trackpad issue on this formum and elsewhere; I haven't seen much posted in the past 6 months so I don't know if a) the issue has been fixed or b) people have given up.  Notably I've seen recomendations to download use the trackpad manufacturer's drivers, but others have commented that this disables the tablet features.  Apparently the proper driver would have to emerge from Lenovo. Has there been a resolution to 2-finger scrolling on Lenovo Yoga 2 11 that retains the tablet and other convertible features? thank you,-rei

I have a Latitude 12 E7240 (I assume the touchpad is the same on all versions) and I would prefer to have the older style single finger edge scrolling style rather than two finger scrolling.  I've seen under Windows 7 that the 109 version of the drive shows an extra section at the bottom of the touchpad settings which allows edge scrolling however I've tried that version and the other two available on the Dell site for this laptop but I don't get that section.
Are there any other drivers I can load that would get the edge scrolling option?  I don't mind losing any multitouch features of the touchpad.
Thanks,
John

Answer:Single finger edge scrolling on Latitude E7240 with Windows 8.1 Pro?

See if you have this file. This executable allows you to enable single finger edge scrolling, but, as I just found out, it goes away and needs to be reapplied after a windows update. Store it somewhere where you will find it next time! ;)
1) Go into c:\program files\DellTPad\
2) In this dir I have
 a)  DellTouchpad.exe: this is the app called from control panel whose picture you posted.
 b)  DellTPad.exe alternate utility to set touchpad setting. When launching this I have this option (translating into english) "one finger actions/multi-finger actions", and then it allows you to set single finger vertical/horizontal scrolling.

Aside from the below trackpad issues, coil whine and fan that likes to spin up even when doing basic tasks, I quite like the new Spectre x360. Issue 1: When using the entire trackpad as a click, the cursor will sometimes move just before I actually click down, which is something I never experienced on my MacBook Air's trackpad. This results in either missing what I originally wanted to click, or clicking on something entirely different. Issue 2: Two-finger scrolling doesn't work in the bottom 20% of the trackpad. I can use two fingers in that area, but scrolling won't actually start until I get towards the middle of the trackpad. So, until I hit that area, it'll just be single-finger pointing. Given the trackpad's wider than it is tall, this can become a problem. I tried messing around with the dated-looking Synaptics settings program, but couldn't get anything to help. Maybe it'll get better with time on its own? Otherwise, hopefully software updates will fix it...

I'm befuddled. Two finger scrolling in Windows 10 dialogs, applications and Internet Explorer/Edge all works perfectly. However, Chrome is far too sensitive and the page blazes past. I can't adjust the scroll speed in settings because that affects all other apps (in other words they'll become way too slow!) Just to make matters more confused I've also got a Logitech mouse and the scroll wheel works fine everywhere - and this means if I install an extension in Chrome to configure scroll speed to work with the touchpad I will have slowed it down to a painful rate using the scroll wheel. Any clues how to configure Chrome two finger scrolling correctly? Is this an issue with the trackpad or Chrome?

Hi, I've got a brand new ideapad 710s and I have some problems with the two finger scrolling feature of the synaptics touchpad. Basically, it works. So when I move my two fingers up on the touchpad the window scrolls down and vice versa. However, when I move up my fingers rather slowly, the window scrolls up (and not down). When I reach a certain speed with my two fingers while moving them up, the window begins to scroll down again. This is quite annoying. Especially when I view PDFs with the Adobe Acrobat Reader the pages begin to jump etc. I don't know if this is a known issue with the touchpad or if it's just my notebook.Would be great to get some advice! Thanks

Alright. So since I've bought this computer I've had problems with the two-finger scrolling suddenly stopping, like many people have. That's always been fixable by going into properties, device settings, settings, unchecking/rechecking one of the boxes under "two finger scrolling" and hitting OK. Now, though, my touchpad is suddenly stuck on one finger scrolling, and it's super annoying. There is no "one finger scrolling" option under the "scrolling" drop down thingy under device settings, so I haven't a clue why this is happening. I've tried the usual fix above, restarting the computer, installing new drivers, but it still does one finger scrolling. Which means it scrolls a lot of the time when I don't want it to, and the pointer seems to get "stuck" at times when I'm just trying to move it around. This is extremely frustrating - any help would be great!

My 7840's touch pad "One Finger Scrolling" functionality has become inconsistent.  It had been working fine by using the 'DellTPad.exe' application and selecting (if memory serves) 'one finger gestures'.  That option is now gone however one finger scrolling still works for awhile, and then fails and the only option to scroll using two fingers. A reboot fixes it for awhile then it starts all over again.  This problem coincided with a recent round of updates, though the touch-pad driver was not one of those updates.
Any ideas out there?

Is there any patch, hack, ect that can enable 2 finger scrolling on my synaptics touchpad?

Answer:Enable 2 finger scroll?

Have you tried downloading the latest drivers from Synaptics?

Make sure to make a system restore point and test it before installing these drivers.

Answer:Why isn't the two finger scrolling gesture no longer working after upgrading to Windows 10 (Lenovo G50)?

Same thing happened to my two-year old Samsung laptop, but fortunately I have downloaded the touchpad driver before so re-installation was easy.
Have you tried checking for driver updates in Device Manager? This method should automatically search for, download and install the driver for your touchpad. Take note, however, that you may need to uninstall the current driver first before it would be able to detect a new one, so make sure you have your mouse ready.
If that doesn't work, try checking the manual or documentation of your laptop - there must be some information about what kind of touchpad is in your Lenovo. Once you find information about your touchpad, it would be easier to search for the appropriate driver manually.

I'd be very grateful if someone could suggest a solution to the problem I have with the touchpad on my laptop, the one finger scrolling is not working, I have checked as far as I can using the info provided, as far as I know the driver is up to date, I've looked for 'Dell touchpad' or 'Device settings tab' in control panel and they aren't there, just mouse ( ps/2) properties and these are shown as ok, any ideas please? many thanks,Steven. ps, guruaid tell me it's a hardware problem but I'm not so sure, it used to work fine before Windows 10 was loaded and messed up a whole lot of functions, I was then told it's not compatible with this laptop, so I had to put Windows 7 back on and the problem stemmed from around that time

Answer:n5010 laptop touchpad not working correctly - no 'one finger' scrolling function

Hi PUFFIN88,
Have you performed a clean install of Windows 7 or have just rolled back the OS from Win10 to Win7? Is the touchpad detected in device manager? Is there any damage on the system? Do the touchpad button register a click?
Update the BIOS - http://dell.to/28WKQHB- restart the system and check if it works fine.  Reinstall the touchpad drivers from the same site and check.
If the touchpad is not detected in device manager- then download the service manual from the support site link above - and reseat the palmrest cables and check if it works.
Restart the system and press f12 key on startup - choose diagnostics. Let it run the diags and if you encounter any errors - make a note of the complete error and report the same to us.
