Preferred Solution: TrackPoint moves weirdly

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: TrackPoint moves weirdly

I fixed this problem by reinstalling the driver several times, and it is gone, I have no idea what was the cause.

Ok, most of us know about this problem but I've not heard of any solution and I am becoming convinced that it is a software issue and not just a hardware/design flaw.... If one were to hold on the trackpoint, pushing it in one direction or another for too long, the computer starts to take control over the pointer and it fights against the direction you want to go. If you let go at this point entirely, the mouse cursor moves all on it's own. A work-around so far, is to occasionally let go of the trackpoint during use, and if you do this often enough, the problem just doesn't happen in the first place. But sometimes it's easy to forget this, and when that happens, it's an annoyance to an otherwise awesome design that overall just works... I want to work with the community on fixing this if we can, or getting help from the developers/drivers if need be. One thing, I have noticed, is that if you get the problem to occur (or purposely strive to re-produce the issue) the only way to get it to stop is to wait several seconds until the cursor completely stops moving.  If you try to fight against the cursor, or move in any direction, you just end up delaying the amount of time it takes for the issue to go away, so it's best to just sit and wait it out for a second while this is happening.  You could literally keep interrupting/fighting against it, and it will continue on in error until you give up.  Because of this, I suspect that an adjustment ... Answer:Trackpoint moves on it's own..... (Lenovo X220T)

From wikipedia: "A common problem of pointing sticks is the inability to identify the zero position (the position indicating no user touch). A typical solution, which reflects the fact that user operation of the pointing stick is rarely constant, is to interpret any absence of change of pressure (over a given interval, perhaps one or several seconds) as meaning the user has released the stick. If the user applies exactly constant pressure to the stick for such an interval, this method mistakenly re-zeroes the stick. Then additional pressure is required to achieve the same movement of the screen cursor, and the cursor spontaneously moves in the opposite direction when the user releases the stick. If the user avoids touching the stick, the error ends when the stick detects the real zero position." It's a fundamental flaw of any trackpoint device. The trackpoint is not a moving part so there is no natural way to calibrate for (x,y)=(0,0) that would be accurate for more then a few seconds of use. Once you understand why this happens you can even replicate the issue whenever you like by applying constant pressure in any direction; eventually the software will think this pressure state is zero and your mouse will stop moving, and when you let go the cursor will drift in the opposite direction at the same speed you started pushing at. The solution to the problem when you get drift is as you say, just let go for a second and the software will rezero the trackpoint.

I'm having this issue using the trackpoing of my X200 where after a little bit of use the mouse pointer will move all by itself in the direction that I last applied force in the trackpoint. The pointer moves for a second or two, even when no force is being applied to the trackpoint, and then it stops. From that moment on the trackpoint behaves normally until a few moments later it will suffer from the same behavior again. Is this normal of Lenovo Trackpoints or am I dealling with defect hardware or drivers here? Thanks in advance for the answers

Answer:X200 Trackpoint pointer moves all by itself then stops

This quite normal. Only happens when you have been using the TP intensively/

For a while now, I have wondered why the virtual buttons shown in the utility http://imgur.com/Lljj1Z7 don?t function as advertised. According to the utility, I should get a left click if I depress the left are of the touchpad, a middle click if I push on the bumps, and a right click if I depress the right half of the touchpad. In my experience, I get a left click regardless of where I depress the touchpad. The only exception is when I depress the bumps in the top middle of the touchpad?when I do that, the mouse enters some weird scrolly mode where I scan scroll stuff with the trackpoint. It definitely does not emit a middle click. But, more importantly, I cannot figure out how to get trackpoint mode to emit a right click. How do I get trackpoint classic mode to work? Is there a way to downgrade the drive or use a non-lenovo branded driver to get it to behave properly? Right now, I?m relying on an external mouse just to middle click and right click. I?m using Windows 10 b10240 and, as in the post?s title, my trackpoint driver is the latest listed on Lenovo?s support site (which I think WU actually installed for me)?19.0.12.61. Why don?t the virtual buttons work and are there any other workarounds that don?t involve using a mode other than Trackpoint Classic?

Answer:T540p unable to right-click with virtual buttons in trackpoint or trackpoint classic mode 19.0.12.61

Seems to have partially fixed iteslf since Windows Update (WU) installed 19.0.16. Now the right half of my touchpad performs a right click when in TrackPad Classic mode. However, the supposed ?middle click? zone still does a weird scrolly mode instead of sending a middle click. Guess I still have to use an external mouse to accomplish a middle click when using Classic TrackPoint mode, but at least the situtaion is better than when I couldn?t right click with this mode.

Hi, I got an S230u Twist last autumn and have been really happy with it. At the time, I ordered a set of replacement rubber TrackPoint caps. When I replaced the original cap the other day, I realised that the replacement ones are about 0.5mm shorter than the original one, with the result that the H and G keys get caught on the edge of the cap; you have to hit them quite hard to get them to work. I compared all the new caps from the packet against the original one, and sure enough; they're all a little too short. They fit, but it's annoying to have to go back and make sure all my ""G"s and "H"s typed correctly.  Has anyone else had the same problem? Lenovo, could this just have been a bad batch, and if so can I return the unused ones for a replacement set that is the correct height?

Answer:S230u - replacement trackpoint TrackPoint caps are too short

If you bought them from Lenovo I'd just try and return them. If not dispute on eBay/PayPal/Credit Card. But never use poor quality TrackPoint Caps. Remember if a computer is running efficiently so is the person behind it generally.

Hi, I wonder whether there is a way to enable press-to-click for the trackpoint on the new x1? In the respective settings there is no such options and I searched everywhere, somebody found it? Next question: In order to avoid the annoying noise of the clickpad everytime you press it, I would like to use the tap function of the touchpad while using the trackpoint to move the cursor. Unfortunately, tapping on the pad seems to be disabled during use of trackpoint - any smart hack to get this workig? Thanks to all,J

Not sure why my AMD Radeon HD 7750 Xfx Core Edition isn't performing as it should, Trying to play Vindictus Europe. The system requirements are extremely low, my GPU exceeds the recommended requirement by 73%.. I should be hitting atleast 70FPS on high and 90FPS on low, but im getting 20-30FPS on low with only 20% GPU usage, it's not just vindictus it's other games too so we can rule that out. The GPU hasn't been overclocked either. Any idea's whats wrong?

Answer:Weirdly Low FPS but 20% GPU

download msi afterburner and see what your clock speeds are at. and while you're at it tick the default speeds box. should solve the issue. chances are your card was bundled with a 3rd party oc app and thats causing the issues.

Ok so the biggest problem I have here is that after restarting the pc (the restart takes around 20mins btw, I've timed it, it's just stuck on the restart screen for 20mins before doing it), I log on to my account(it also takes a minute or 2 for this, that's when I know it's not good) and I get this.

I can't do anything except open task manager. With task manager I opened cmd and used sfc and dism. Sfc didn't find any integrity violations and dism checkhealth and scanhealth didn't find any problems. System restore works but doesn't change anything so it's pointless.

Only with a long chkdsk does it go back to normal, but normal also has problems

-recycle bin doesn't open
-certain programs instantly stop responding (can't even install league of legends)
-certain operations take way longer than they should (simple skype update took an hour)
-when I boot from cd with a windows 10 repair disc made with media creation tool on another laptop(because it doesn't work on my pc) the screen just stays purple with a movable mouse, nothing loads
-reset this pc doesn't work in windows
-can't seem to get to troubleshoot anything

I'd list more, but my dumb pc has been trying to restart for the past 20mins or so.

The worst part is, I get the black screen up there again after another restart or 2 of fixing it with chkdsk. Everything was fine for almost a year since getting w10, and then this happens. I'm guessing my unhealthy force restarts might have contributed to it, b... Read more

Question: Weirdly Slow PC

Helping someone out on their Win 7 64 bit.It boots at a fairly normal speed, but apps take way forever to load. Like ten minutes to launch Firefox. Or a few minutes to open an Explorer window. Additionally, the little hard drive light seems to never stop spinning.Safe mode launches and runs super-fast and normal.Ad Aware and Malware Bytes have found nothing.I have disabled *censored* near everything in Startup and Services in MSCONFIG and have uninstalled a ton of stuff, and still, no...What do I need to look for?

I wasn't sure where to post this but, yesterday I installed the light version(s) of Helvetica fonts on my laptop and now (on Tumblr, usually) the fonts that are supposed to be displayed as Helvetica, I think? are coming out in weird characters. (pic below) I circled them. It does that for seemingly every page that I guess requires that font? Tumblr uses Helvetica and Arial as its fonts so I can only assume the problem lies there.

Is there any way to fix that? without having to restore or anything since I don't really have a restore point.

Answer:Font displaying weirdly?

Have you tried deleting the font?

Just got a nice new blu ray burner/reader and took it for a test drive. Burned a 23GB set of files very nicely, took less than 13 minutes and then I popped the disk back in to read it.

After "calculating" for 20 minutes, Windows explorer started the read and said it had 22 hours left to go. I let it run for about 1/2 hours and had read in just over 1,000 files and still said it had 22 hours to go and from the rate at which it was transferring files to the HD I could see that it wasn't kidding.

Any clue why a Windows 7 system would do this? Could I have some configuration setting wrong?

Hi, I was using a Dell USB mouse with my Dell Laptop. My OS is Windows XP SP3. In the last few days the mouse began to act strange. Sometimes it does the "right click + drag" function and sometimes it double-clicks without me manually performing any mouse functions. This issue is not consistent as it happens quite frequently on somedays and only once in a while on other days. I changed the USB slots, but the result is the same. I purchased a new mouse (By-Logic which is a chinese company) and the issue persists. I even changed the right and left click functions for both the mouses and could see that the right button is acting weirdly most of the time.

I did boot into safe mode and on that day there was not much of an issue. I checked in Process Explorer if there were some suspicious processes, but there is none.

I am not sure whether this is a faulty mouse issue, faulty USB port issue or any issues with Win XP. The other devices are working perfectly fine on the USB slots.

It is happening now when I am typing this post and believe me it's really frustrating.

It would be great if anyone can help me on this issue. Thanks in advance.

So here's a list of things I did to try and fix it.

- Tried another mouse
- Rebooting
- Scan system with Nod 32 v4
- Clean mouse
- Reinstall drivers
Nothing worked.

What the hell is going on ? This is seriously annoying and I don't know what to do :/

hi,
this has been happening for a long time...and i asked a lot of people but no one seemed to know wat the problem is. pretty much all my games, after playing them for a while, they will crash. it doesn't crash to the desktop. my computer shuts down...atleast my monitor goes black (and you can hear that crackling sound...but its still 'on' cuz when i restart the comp...without touching the monitor power button, it works fine) and i can't hear any sound but the LED beside the power button on my cpu stays lit. when i press the reset button or restart it...it reboots and works fine. so i don't really know if the computer gets turned off or what.
it happens more often if the computer's been on a for a while already before starting the game or after a crash if i go in to the game again...its more likely to happen again then too...so i'm guessing its a hardware problem? i checked for overheating problems and i think the temperatures were all fine.
any advice or help is greatly appreciated. thanx a lot.

and its definitely not a system requirement problem for the games...it can handle them (in theory)...but just for the info. these r my specs...i did the system requirements check from teh link in the sticky thread in this forum...and the info is from there...

It started two days ago, when I tried logging in but it kept redirecting me to an error message, like when a site is usually down. I restarted the browser (I use Chrome, and I tried logging in on other browsers, didn't work) and the computer, but it didn't work. I waited for a while and I could log in eventually, that problem didn't come back. A few hours later I was on another tab, and when I tried to return to the Facebook tab, the computer would just freeze momentarily and stay on the tab that I was on. Everything else would work, including the other tabs, and my programs, but as soon as I clicked on the Facebook tab, my computer would lag out. Closing the tab and opening one again didn't work, only exiting the browser and opening it again did. After that everything was back to normal, and nothing seemed to be wrong with my Facebook. However, for two days in a row, at the same time, the same problem would come back, where the Facebook tab would lag out when I tried to open it, and only that tab. Everything else worked fine. Could someone help me please? This seems very suspicious and I'm not sure if I have malware on my computer. I had Privitize VPN before but got it removed with the help of some mods on here. I changed my password and ran MBAM but it didn't find anything, yet the problem persists. Help please? Thanks,

Answer:Facebook Is Acting Weirdly, Please Help

Chrome is notoriously bad on system optimization on lower spec computers, because each process is run in a separate process. More tabs you have open more ram it will use up. I've seen it use up to 1.5gb ram sometimes on my system. Could you post your system specs? Ram, processor, OS also. Do you have ad blocker extension installed? They can increase your browsing speed greatly. ~Zestypanda

Answer:Facebook Acting Weirdly

These problems also started recently and only after the Facebook problem came about. I realised that they only happened after the Facebook lagged out daily, and if I restarted the computer any time before exactly 24 hours later where the Facebook issue happened again, it would be gone. It is almost as if the Facebook problem triggers all the following.
Recently I have noticed that whenever I have a Microsoft Word document open for more than 30 minutes, whenever I try to close it, it would stop responding and hang. I would have to use Task Manager to kill it. It does not happen when I close documents that are open for a short while.

Also, whenever I right-click something and click on one of the options (like Select All for example) in the pop-up, that option (and only that option in the bar, the rest of the pop-up will disappear as usual) would stay on the screen, stuck there. I would close all applications and it would still be there. It displays on top of every other open program or browser, and only restarting the computer makes it disappear (Happens only a few of the times I click on an option, not all. Sometimes it works normally, with nothing being stuck on the screen). This has never happened to me before. Also, I realised that whenever I right-clicked anything, instead of the pop-up displaying fully, it would display very unclear, like something in the background. It would be blurred and darker than normal, until I moused-over it, only then would it appear... Read more

Hi guys

My son has a new/rebuilt computer but is having trouble with it. He can be playing a game, such as Minecraft, for about 3 minutes and then it just switches back to the main menu all of a sudden. He can play for a few more minutes and it does it again. It is doing this on other games also.

He has just told me it also does this when he's browsing the internet using Firefox. The page just hangs and it's like the cursor disappears and he has to reclick on the page to get it going again.

The computer wasn't doing this a couple of days ago so I have no idea what has caused it, but it's to the point he can't really use it since it hangs every few minutes.

Any ideas please?

I dont know if this is necessarily an Intensive Care issue but I couldnt find where else to put it.

Yesterday my virus scanner Avast suggested removing some extensions. After I removed the last one Firefox seemed to reset and when I opened it again it seemed to be a fresh install, passwords, history, bookmarks were all gone. That was a blow.

Turned it off, this morning when I wake up the shortcuts on my task bar arent working. The browsers (including IE which I never use) arent opening, neither is my Win Explorer shortcut.

When I look for them int he start menu they do work. However when I goto Libraries nothing shows up in there. I have soo much stuff in my Documents and my Videos, but even those 2 folders arent showing up, not to mention the subdirectories!

And for some reason Chrome isnt working properly right now. Im using Firefox just fine (minus the bookmarks etc) but Chrome isnt loading anything.

Im in the middle of a virus scan but before I started it it said all is well so I'm pretty sure thats not going to give me any results. Please help!

May be a good idea to try system restore to a point before you let Avast remove the addons. Or did you mean that you manually removed them?

Answer:Computer acting weirdly

Looking at the specs for your PC I see 2gb memory.

What have you installed?

I think 8.1 will take most of the 2gb so depending on what other programs you have installed you may not have enough memory to do much else which will certainly cause your PC to slow down.

I know though that a small minority have experienced the same difficulty as me.The programmer has no idea what is causing this, but frankly I think he's out of his area of expertise with this whole project. The software plays sound files, and I think it's based on Windows Media Player in some way - it seems to incorporate WMP somehow. The software is downloadable here click here if anyone needs to download it to try to ascertain the cause. Also, I couldn't download the Yahoo widgets from widgets.yahoo.com. When I click the download link, it'll say the page couldn't be shown/open.

I have no problems with other websites. It's only Yahoo website that gives me this kind of no graphics problem.

Hi there.
I'm having a few unusual problems with my computer.
I am getting popups from websites that I know for a fact do not have them (BBC News, google) etc. Also, for some reason, certain webpages will not load. I get waiting for www.example.com and it just never loads up.
I have run various scans in both normal mode and safe mode and have picked up very little. What it has picked up has apparently been removed and sorted. I ahve used Adaware and Spybot search and destroy. I did attempt to use AVG but it seemed to disable a lot of programs on my computer which was only fixed by unstalling it, so I don't want to try that again.
Anyway, onto the technical stuff..
My computer runs windows XP SP2
I have norton 2007 installed (utterly useless, just tells me theres a problem rather than attempting to fix it)
I can provide the detailed hardware specs if needed but for this issue I guessed they're not needed.

I've been trying to be patient about this but when I today got my first "Windows crashed - and have been restored" message, my patience kind of ran out.

I'm going to try to explain as much as I can but if any additional information is needed (or if I should post in the spyware/adware forum) please just say so :)

In May, I brought a brand-new laptop of the HP brand and with Windows 7 Home Premium (32-bit). It worked perfect for about a month. I had a Norton anti-virus but when it expired, I changed to AVG because I used it on my PC and it had worked great.

The laptop started to get slow - especially during the start up. Too often, I would turn it on, click to open a folder or firefox and nothing would happen for minutes (the cursor just rolling and rolling) or it would freeze until finally after waiting, get started and etc.

I figured it ought to maybe be the AVG program that was slowing it down, so I changed to Avast. I also went through all the start-up programs and removed those I deemed unnecessary or maybe also slowed things down. I also uninstalled the HP dashboard since I had no use of it.

But it continued to be slow and freezing. I tried scanning it but it either a) freezes midpoint or b) doesn't find anything. My gadgets (notes, clock and calendar) started to not show up, freeze or just remain blank. I tend to get rather often an error message when starting for example firefox that says that a script is unresponsive/not working (something c... Read more

I've played and finished the first Prince of Persia (POP), Sands of Time, and it ran smoothy and quickly.  However, now the newest one, Warrior Within isn't running as fast.  When there are too many obstacles or guards the game slows down.  It's frozen for a split second before.  Is it my PC doing this?  Or is the game doing this on purpose to make it harder? (I doubt it, but you never know).  Thanks for your help.

Hello,

I have a problem with my computer, basically it behaves fine, but the only issue when i press tab this happens:

bo `c31yhwsise;xzu8nwcDSFw

this string of words appears,

it changes to capslock

mouse cursor moves

and alt key is pressed (i believe)

this usually happens over a period of 5-8 seconds and its always the same thing that happens. Anyone have a solution? Tried googling for some standard troubleshooting but apparently this is new..

Thank you for your help

My new-in-September T530 i5-3210M Win7 has the 9-cell battery currently set to charge at 60% and stop at 90%.  The Low Battery warning is set at 30%, hibernate at 20% and critical level at 15%.  Cycle count is 66.  Power Manager shows a full charge capacity of 93.98 Wh (just off the original 94 Wh.) I usually plug in shortly after the low battery warning, then leave it connected after it stops charging (90%) until I need/want to be away from my 'work area' (club chair.) Recently I stopped getting the low battery warning, and now it hibernates with around 32% remaining charge.  When I plug it in and restart, the level shows 7-8%.  Last cycle, after several unanticipated hibernations, I paid more attention.  These were the readings of time, percent remaining charge, time remaining per Power Manager (and Windows): Time    %        Lenovo (Win 7)08:32   66%    8:3108:37   65%    5:09  (5:21)09:05   64%    3:4409:18   63%    7:42  (7:41)09:19   62%    8:26  (7:43)09:20   62%    7:04  (7:43)09:27   61%    7:58  (6:31)09:56   58%    7:21  (11:51)09:57   57%    6:20  (7:32)10:07   56%    6:53  (5:37)11:20  ... No thoughts... from anybody? Well, it's obviously getting worse.  Yesterday it shut down at ~32%.  Today (cycle 66) the computer shut down (hibernated) at 35% (4:30) remaining capacity.  When I plugged it in and restarted, it showed 7% remaining capacity. This can't be right.

When I go to a longer Wikipedia page, it will load all the images right away, except for one. This last image will load very slowly or not at all. It happens on a lot of pages and the one image will not be much different from all the others, in size or format. It's not the final image on the page.

Do you know why this would happen? I clear my cache every time I close the browser. An example page:

So, I go to add some custom cursors to my C:/Windows/Cursors folder and am confronted with some cursor icons that I know cannot be truly the correct representation of the actual cursors. See the attached image of said folder to see what I mean. Just weird! Any insight or solutions? Thanks.

Oh, by the way, this is my first post. Hope I got it in the right spot (custom cursors/customization forum?) Every time I googled something about Windows 7 solutions, this site would pop up. So far, the help it has given me has proved invaluable. I hope this time is no exception.

Yes this is weird. I also checked my cursor directory under Windows and it is viewed the same way. I'm not sure if you will find the answer unless you seak to Microsoft and ask why cursors directory is viewed that way.

Anyone else have any ideas?

I seem to have a weird problem with Word and Excel (2003). if I click on either shortcut, the program opens reasonably quickly, and then it also opens any file quickly (whether it is from the recent files list or by finding it through "File Open".

However, if I doubleclick the Word or Excel file directly (say in Explorer), it takes forever to open Word/Excel,and then loading the file takes quite long too. Same problem with rtf files created with Wordpad. Also, same slow reaction if I rightmouse the file and either "Open" or "Open With".

This is a problem that only started overthe last couple of days, and I don't think I've installed anything new.

I am totally confused.

Any suggestions will be gratefully accepted.

Answer:Weirdly slow office programs

bearspa... i am glad i saw your posting because i was about to start the same one.

i felt the dramatic reduction in speed when i open, save, copy, find, sort, cut or paste in excel. i tried saving the file from xlsx (2007) to binary format (i thought it is supposed to help with huge excel files) but that did not help either.

hopefully, someone will be able to help us.

Well this is an odd one for ya...my internet works perfectly fine all day long without even the slightest problems. I can play Age of Conan (MMO) all day long without problems as well. Yet the odd parts come in when I attempt to play any of my 3 FPS (first person shooter) games.

--- Return to Castle Wolfenstein ---

Occasionally the Server-List will display only 1-2 servers, both with high pings.

Ping is higher than before on all servers as well. Most are 100+ ping when they used to be around 25-40.

Remedy is to reset the modem.

--- Counterstrike: Source ---

All servers on the server-list have abnormally high ping. Even ones that on my old internet setup had about 40-ish ping are 200+.

Can't connect to the majority of the servers.

Sometimes it will connect to the server and as soon as I enter give me connection interrupted.

Remedy is to reset the modem.

--- Call of Duty 4 ---

Ping seems to be okay, though I didn't have the game with my old internet setup, so I have nothing to compare it with.

Will connect to the server perfectly fine, but after about 10 minutes of gameplay I will get Connection Interrupted, the lights on my modem will all light up, and then half will shut off followed about 2 seconds later by the other half of the lights shutting off. The modem will then reset itself, reestablishing a connection in about 30 seconds.

Remedy....none....

Hi TSF,

I'm experiencing some odd behaviors on my laptop, especially with internet access and antivirus.

Basically when i'm using google chrome, i can only access google website (google.com, gmail.com, etc), can even perform a search on google, but upon going to any other website, the loading wheel keep spinning forever and nothing is loaded. I tried using firefox and IE, both can access other websites like facebook, reddit, etc but at a very slow speed. Internet access is normal in safe mode.

Also, the laptop tends to hang for a while or run very sluggishly whenever i try to access internet from any program (use browser, update antivirus, etc) and to use any antivirus action (full system scan takes 10 times longer than normal). Checking task manager shows harddisk usage often jump to 100% although the top usage process is only around 5-10MB/s (Service Host: Local Service (network restricted)). Otherwise, the laptop can still function somewhat normally if i don't touch those activities mentioned.

I have already read all the sticky instructions before posting. However seeing the instruction was in 2010 and I'm running Windows 8, i wonder if there is any compatibility issues with the software or if anything will go wrong. So i'm posting here asking first before taking furthur action. I currently have to access internet from another computer, so my best bet is to download any program from here and use a thumbdrive to transfer it over to the infected laptop, hopefull... Read more

Answer:malware(?) making computer behaves weirdly

Nevermind the problem, I went ahead and reset to factory state since I have been wanting to do it for a while anyway.
Just some questions:
1/ will the hidden recovery partition ever get infected by malware/virus/etc and by reset to factory state I still get infected?
2/ I backed up all my files to an external hdd and keep it kind of quarantined. What should I do to disinfect that hdd?

sorry for not posting and not waiting for support. and if those questions do not belong here which forum should I post instead?

Thank you anyway :)

I have a problem with my computer. My computer freezes, restarts, and shows me the black screen at most importune and random times. The usual cycle is this, I turn on my computer, it works for 3-5 minutes, then everything freezes and I have to restart. After I press the restart button my computer, the computer either restarts or monitor shuts off, and I have to keep pressing the restart button until it turns on. Sometimes I even have to use the shutdown button in the back of the computer to make it work. After that, it can freeze at any stage, when its detecting devices, when its counting memory, when its loading my operating system. I restart, load the operating system go online, and then it gives me a black screen, restarts automatically, or freezes. Usually after 30-40 minutes of approximately 15 restarts it starts working perfectly for unlimited amount of time, once I even left it for 13 hours straight, and it worked perfectly. Once I shut down, and on the next day start the computer, the problems begin again, and I have to do numerous restarts until it starts to work again. As a matter of fact while I was typing this letter the computer showed me the black screen 3 times, and I only managed to type this, because I am typing it in Word, and its auto-recovery works great.
I did not make any hardware changes before the problem started occurring. I already tried moving the computer to another location, with different outlets. I already formatted the computer. I was running ... Read more

Hello, something strange has happened to the device:1) some of the keys on the dock keyboard stopped working. These keys are Esc, g, h, F4 to F6, left alt, Up arrow and ' . Absolutely no pattern, as you see.2) I've plugged the external USB keyboard. There are no missing keys, BUT (a) t and q letter keys produce duplets (pressin t makes qt and sometimes tq, and pressin q produces qt and sometimes tq), and so do j with backspace (backspace can produce j and j can produce j+backspace, thus removing j) and (b) backspace doesnt work until you hold it until repetition, then starts removing letters. The issue happens in bios as well (tested on up arrow and esc buttons). There was no spilled water or anything - I just turned on the computer and there came a problem. I flashed fresh BIOS and dock BIOS - didn't help. I tried removing and re-adding devices in the device manager - no luck. Tried reseting  the device with the eeset hole in the dock - nothing. This is my work instrument and my work is related to typing, so using a touch keyboard is painful, neither I can send the device to repair shop. Any other ideas to try?  Thanks in advance.Eugene Mayevski

Hello everyone!I submit this post to see if you can help me to know if I have a virus or similar in my computer.A few months ago I bought the 3Mb ADSL service (with Telefonica, Spain). At first it was a bit slow, specially emule. I did call my ADSL company. While waiting for their answer I did learn to open a few ports for my emule. Then emule went on fast fast fast. Great! But the people from ADSL came into my house to check if everithing was ok. I tolde them yes. But they wanted to be sure. Therefore they brought me a new modem. When they left I could see emule was slow again. I wanted to open the ports, but the page to do it was diferent and I couln?dt do it. So I toke out this new modem and re-installed the old one. Internet was perfect again.Until a few days ago. I started downloading some youtube videos with UltraGet yourtube as always do and at some point the program stoped working. It said failure at downloading or something similar. After this internet started to work badly. So I did call the company and follow the steps they gave me. At the end they told me my conecctions was ok, but something in my computer was causing this problem.I have use several times vista options to restore the system, etc... I was advised by boopme to create a thread here for further analysis. I removed the Privitize VPN virus about a month back with the help of this forum, but recently my Facebook started acting up suspiciously. About a week ago, I couldn't log in to my Facebook account, it would just redirect me to an error message, like when a site is usually down. However, every consecutive day so far, the same thing happens at the same time approximately, where the Facebook tab would lag out when I tried to open it, and only that tab. Everything else worked fine. This seems very suspicious and I'm not sure if I have malware on my computer. Yesterday for the first time Chrome put up a pop-up, saying that my Facebook tab had gone unresponsive. This happened when it lagged out at ... Read more

Hi,I hope I am posting this question in the right forum and right category.I have a Dell Machine with pre-installed Windows 7. I partitioned the disk and installed Ubuntu using wubi installer and configured grub loader and everything worked fine. For a couple of days I stopped using ubuntu and used windows majorly. I hardly ever rebooted my machine during this time. The next time I rebooted my box I found that windows gets booted automatically and grub loader doesnt even appear in the picture. The ubuntu installation still exists on my partition but has become inaccessible. Could someone tell me why this could be happening and how I can access ubuntu? Thanks

Answer:Ubuntu/Windows 7 bootup behaving weirdly

Click Start, then rightclick Computer and choose properties. In the left pane, click advanced system settings. Click the Advanced tab.Click the settings button under Startup and Recovery.Make sure, that "Time to display list of operating systems" is checked and the time in seconds is set to lets say 5 seconds. Better is 10 or more, so you have time enough, to choose the operating system to start up.The original poster should always write the last response !!!Let us know, if the problem is solved !!!

My computer crashed while I was not using it ( it was just sitting idle, few tabs open but no active downloads going on - it happens once in a while with this computer, maybe once a month or so ).
I restarted it, and now all my browsers behave weird if I save/download a file, even simple as a picture.

If I use chrome, it crash ("google chrome has stopped working"), and instead of the file it gives me a ".tmp" file on my desktop.

If I use Internet Explorer or Firefox, it downloads the file but it puts it 'outside' my desktop, I don't see it at all on my desktop so I have to open the 'desktop folder' to find the file and move it somewhere I can use it.

I usually only use chrome and it doesn't work at all for saving. The other 2 can save the file but I have to find it in the desktop folder everytime, which isn't very practical.

I tried uninstalling/reinstalling chrome, but since all 3 browsers started behaving weirdly at the same time it's probably not chrome related I think?
I've done an "error checking" ( computer/property/tools ), assuming maybe the crash messed up something in my computer, I let it run overnight but the problem still isn't fixed.

I've done a bit of googling and all I could find was people talking about a broken 'desktop.ini' file that could prevent future downloads, but I looked it up and I have no such file, and I tried to change my download folder to something else (a random folder I just made) and it doens't wo... Hello Tech Support People, I have a question concerning some recent weird occurrences with my computer. I apologize for the ensuing block o' text.

I noticed a few weeks ago that my antivirus (AVG2014 Free version) was not sitting in my toolbar like it used to. When I try to open it it says "This program is blocked by group policy. For more information, contact your system administrator." So I looked up how to change group policies and so forth, but that didn't change anything. So I started up in safe mode and I CAN access it, but it doesn't detect any problems. I then, in my infinite wisdom, downloaded Panda Antivirus as I used it in the past and thought that in normal mode it could detect what avg couldn't. Well, turns out in normal mode I can't turn off the antivirus process in the background, so I have both panda and avg onstensibly running in the background, though there is no icon in the tray and I can't access their programs due to the aforementioned group policy issue.

I looked at some forums with people having similar problems and have downloaded and run rkill, combofix, and Windows-KB890830-x64-V5.11.exe. None of them notify me with any problems (I do have logs for them upon request).

I have noticed that my computer has problems starting up about 10-20% of the time now, freezing as I enter windows. It also seems to lag a little compared to before.

Hi all, just today my computer has started acting weirdly. A few days ago I noticed some lag whenever I booted up, the mouse would lag across the screen and videos would also stop playing the motion for 5 seconds ro so and then catch up.
Today confirmed my suspicons when Firefox 3 started to randomly crash. It is now un-usable and I have been forced to use IE7.

A HJT log s attached (if I have remembered). I am getting ad pop ups.

I haverun a spybot search and destroy scan in normal mode and most of an aware scan in safe mode. Both brought up issues and apparently removed them successfully but the problem is still here, if not, worse.

Thankfully, my computer is sill usable for the purposes or backup so push comes to shove, I can reinstall windows but obviously a fix is much more prefered.

System specs are in my profile. I run Windows XP SP2 and ahve Norton 2007, I didn't even bother trying to use that for the purposes of malware removal. It as a good firewall, but is rubbish at everything else.

Look forward to your help.
Thanks
- Jack

Hi,
I've been noticing some problems on my computer over the past few weeks. About two weeks ago I noticed a new icon in the bottom right corner of my screen. When I right-clicked it, it said iBryte Desktop. I didn't know what this was or where it came from but I ignored it until my computer started doing some weird things.

The internet (Firefox v5) started to run really, really slowly. Then my icons stopped working - for instance, double-clicking on the Word 2003 shortcut on my desktop does nothing. If I right-click it and select Open, the program will open, but first it says "Preparing to install...." and then an error message comes up w/ "Microsoft Office Word 11.0" in the blue header bar, and the message "An error occurred and this feature is no longer functioning properly. Please run Setup and select 'Repair....' to restore this application." But then the progam would open after I clicked OK.

So I Googled "iBryte Desktop" and learned that it is probably adware that may be hurting my computer. I went to Control Panel --> Add or Remove Programs --> and uninstalled the program called Playbrite, then restarted the computer -- now the icon for iBryte desktop is gone but the weird behavior is still happening.

Finally I stumbled upon your site and read the post "Everyone MUST read this BEFORE posting for help in this forum." I followed the directions and I'm doing the following, as the post said... Read more

Hello! I need some help URGENTLY! The following are the problems I am experiencing with my Call Of Duty on my laptop.

I have tried COD 1 and 2 on my old desktop and both games worked properly. Then, I got a new Dell Laptop with the following specs:

Machine name: INSPIRON-9400
Operating System: Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 2 (2600.xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158)
Language: English (Regional Setting: English)
System Manufacturer: Dell Inc.
System Model: MP061
BIOS: Phoenix ROM BIOS PLUS Version 1.10 A07
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU T5600 @ 1.83GHz (2 CPUs)
Memory: 1022MB RAM
Page File: 372MB used, 2088MB available
Windows Dir: C:\WINDOWS
DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)
DX Setup Parameters: Not found
DxDiag Version: 5.03.2600.2180 32bit Unicode
Description: SigmaTel Audio
Default Sound Playback: Yes
Default Voice Playback: Yes

I then tried many other games and ALL games worked fine, EXCEPT COD 1 and 2!!! I was surprised! COD 1 and 2 worked PROPERLY on my old desktop, but it behaved funny when I installed it on my laptop!

PROBLEMS

In COD 1, I noticed that some characters will suddenly freeze. They will stand there like frozen statues! I also noticed that scripting problems happened too, like when I had to finish a mission by entering somewhere, the mission would not end!
I later switched off V-sync in COD1, and I noticed that the above problems seemed to have cured! (Even though sometimes the characters will freeze up for awhile!)

If someone feels to move this to the malware forum, please do so.

There's this xp pc at one of the places that I work at, it's used for a basic library catalog system and nothing else really, little bit of internet browsing. I was trying to run windows update on it the other day and the page wouldn't load. So then I tried to dl ccleaner which downloaded fine but when it came to running it I got an NSIS error saying the download could be damaged or unverified and it wouldn't run. I then discovered that it did this for every single download bar none.
So I found this about NSIS errors:
Why do I get NSIS Error - NSIS

I then managed to get ccleaner and malware bytes on to the box and ran them, ccleaner found amvo.exe in startup, which is a well known malware, so I killed that and deleted the exe and ran malwarebytes which found 4 items. After a couple of reboots and more scans, nothing more was found but the error continued! I looked though the certificates and saw that there were 2 certificates for untrusted publishers for microsoft.com! I removed them and windows update page would now load but when it came to running the active x scripts I got an "publisher could not be verified" error every time. No other downloads would run, including things that were copied through from the local network, still nsis error. Software on external media like usb's and cd's ran fine though.

Since I'd found the viruses I thought I'd just reinstall windows with a full format, so... Read more

Hi all

I've been having HUGE trouble with Firefox for a while. I'm completely at a loss tbh, was all fine & sweet until I changed to Windows 7 x64.

I actually have 2 completely unrelated Firefox issues (both I have no idea how to solve), do I need to list these separately please?

Just in case, I'll stick with one thread for each, unless told otherwise...

Problem: I cannot always see everything on certain pages that I visit because of this black band. This band expands and moves depending on where about I am on the screen. If I scroll up or down then the band morphs & I can barely see anything. If I just move my mouse up & down then it starts to bring odd snippets back. It's a real nightmare, I was trying to order something from a website last night & I ended up giving up as couldn't see anything I was doing in the end.

I have attached some screenshots too

Thank you in advance.

Answer:Black Band & weirdly loading pages, Firefox 10.1

Does this occur in any other browser (ie Internet Explorer, Opera, Google Chrome)? Also, is it specific to a particular site or does it happen to all sites?

Are you using a theme for Firefox? If so, disable it. Are you using any extensions for Firefox? If so, disable all of them except for the necessities if there are any.

When did this problem start? Was it right after you installed Windows 7 x64? Or did you install any software beforehand? If you can remember when this started to occur, you can restore your computer back to a System Restore point before the problem started.

The other day, I was installing Windows 7. This is no surprise, since I've probably installed Windows 7 about a thousand times over the past few years. But this time, I wasn't in my normal work environment, and I didn't have my magic thumb drive filled with my normal tools, like antivirus installers, pre-downloaded service packs, and the like More..

Answer:The weirdly obvious Windows security flaw no one ever seems to talk about

It's been brought up before. It's not impossible that it won't happen, even the best websites have thrown a few malware infested third party ads, but it's such a remote chance. For the common user, their PC will either come with AV preinstalled or on a separate disc. For others, they have it on USB drive. For the rest, a quick download to MSE/AVG/Avast is there. MSN is only there for a single time (rotating ads, quick response time with an infected ad, etc.). The odds are stacked against a malware infection. Yes, it could happen. But, I'll bet that the odds are greater that the USB drive your using will have malware on it before you get infected by the single trip to MSN before downloading your AV. This doesn't account for the fact that a malware filled ad would probably be a zero day exploit that would get around your AV anyway... After the initial infections, it's usually discovered and removed very quickly.

I have bought very hyped Lumia 730 and now after using it for 4-5 days i am facing issues when phone is on charging, screen is acting very weird, any key is pressed or app is opening automatically also if we touch any key of keypad many keys are pressed and which is very disturbing. I am facing this issue only when device is on charging and i am charging with charger provided by Nokia. With other charger device is working fine. Whether issue is in charger or charger compatibility with device?

Answer:Lumia 730: Why screen is behaving weirdly when phone is on charging?

Trying charging your phone by connecting it to your PC via USB cable. If problem persist try soft reset or you can even do a hard reset, but backup your stuff first.

Recently I've been having an issue with my laptop. It seems that now whenever I start it up for the first time in a day, it runs extremely slow. A lot of movements on the screen are super slow. For example, the preview windows that pop-up when I put my mouse on a program that's open on my task bar are popping up in what seems like slow motion. When I open tabs in browsers, the simple motion of the new task popping up on the top of my screen seems also to be in slow motion. Even typing this, the letters are slightly lagging behind how fast I am typing it.

The fix I have is just restarting my laptop, that is all. After I do that, everything goes back to normal. I've checked my processes when it's slow and when it's normal and there's nothing out of the ordinary. I defrag and clean up my system regularly and all that good stuff.

When it's running slow (which is right now) all I have open is Google Chrome. My CPU usage is less than 10%, RAM is 40-50% and SWAP usage is around 30%.

I run Windows Home Premium x64 on my Samsung laptop

The photo viewing program in Windows 10 automatically slightly resizes the photo it's displaying according to the window size. And by slightly, I mean slightly. This doesn't matter with things like a photo of your house or family, but it makes a difference with screenshots. What I'm wondering is why it resizes at all. It resizes the photo even if the window is bigger than the photo's actual size. Look @ photo below for reference.

Hello. I use Firefox as my main browser and have come across a strange issue as of late. I use Win10 as my OS but I think the issue is unrelated.

A lot of the websites I frequent have been causing my browser to act strangely. My cursor will flash the "busy" symbol and the browser will become impossible to navigate unless I hard-close it through the task manager. Often, I will get a script error saying that something like "cdn..." or "js.moatads..." needs to be debugged.

I looked these two up and found they are ads/browser hijackers, so I looked up any programs that could have been downloaded onto my computer in the last few days and found none that came up suspicious. I used my main anti-virus software (Kaspersky) to find something and got nothing. I've used Malwarebytes, AdwCleaner, and HitmanPro in an attempt to find what the issue is and I haven't been able to do so. I've removed and reinstalled Firefox several times but that doesn't remedy the issue either. I am at a loss as to what the issue is.

Answer:Firefox acting weirdly, cursor flashing busy, browser cannot be navigated on pages

Hi there. Sounds like non-responding scripts on the pages you visit, although FF by default should pop up a dialogue informing you about the non-responding script and prompt for your action whether to stop the script or not. Does such a dialogue pop up?

I recommend installing an ad blocker add-on for Firefox. For a long time now I have used Adblock Plus, but there's a relatively new add-on that's getting quite popular for its small memory footprint and low cpu usage yet being highly efficient. It's a month now since installing it and it has proven true to its word. It's called 'ublock origin', not to be confused with a similarly named, outdated, controversial add-on called 'ublock'. You can download ublock origin for Firefox from https://addons.mozilla.org and search for 'ublock origin' or use Firefox's inbuilt add-on tool/manager to find and install it. I'd also recommend 'ghostery', another popular privacy add-on.

Try installing them and browsing the same sites that freeze Firefox and see if there's any improvements.

Answer:Mouse Moves By Itself

Every ten minutes or so, my mouse cursor will go beyond my control for several minutes. It starts moving around on it's own, and I can't move it much on my own. I don't mean a slight tremble, I'm talking about the cursor rapidly shooting from the top to the bottom of the screen, back and forth. Sometimes it will stick to the top or bottom, to where I can only move the cursor left and right, and it stays this way for minutes.

I unplugged the mouse, and started watching a movie. The cursor still moves on it's own, so it's not the mouse itself.

I tried scanning with Spybot, AdAware, and AVG, and I'm finding nothing.

What is going on with this, and does anyone know how I can fix it?
Any help is very much appreciated.

Im not using a wireless connection, either. I think its a joke program, I check the process tabs when it happens nothing.

Hello everyone!
I'm having issues with my computer..my mouse seems to randomly move on its own. It doesn't happen all the time, It's rare for it to occur outside a video game. When I'm playing it will do and move to the exact same place everytime. It press buttons and move the mouse to one corner of the screen
this may happen 2-3 times within a 40 minute game.
Anti malwarebytes can't find it, I tried cc cleaning, my mouse is brand new and has been working beautifully until just this week.

I'd be grateful for any help or advice

I have been having problem with my mouse, it moves itself. This happens when I download a particular file (Comodo firewall or just Microsoft mouse drivers) or when I update McAfee virus software. I have even uninstalled McAfee Security Suit and replaced it with Avast. McAfee is a memory hog! I have tried three different optical mice: Two Logitech, one with a cord and the other cordless and one Microsoft comfort 3000 with a cord.  I have tried cleaning the optics. I have replaced the mouse pad, uninstall and reinstall the drivers in the device manager. I have scanned my PC for viruses with McAfee Security Suit, Trend Micro house call and Kaspersky and nothing. For the past few days, as soon as my pc finishes booting, my onscreen cursor begins to move erratically and uncontrollably all over the screen, sometimes parking along the right-hand edge of the visible screen. If I'm patient enough, I can OCCASIONALLY regain temporary control of the cursor by moving the mouse around, but the cursor eventually goes off on its own. This is becoming very frustrating.

I own a 2-year old Dell Dimension 4600 running Windows XP Home Edition. I maintain an updated subscription to McAfee Security Suite (anti-virus; anti-spyware; firewall; etc.), and also run AdAware SE Personal Edition daily, as well as AOL's own version of anti-virus/anti-spyware software, usually before I log off the computer.

Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thanx!

You could try changing your mouse, perhaps you have an old one you could use or borrow one off a friend to test. Try reducing the sensitivity of the mouse through control panel. I seriously doubt this is malware, try posting in the hardware forum

Then you can always come back here if you need to but as I said, probably not malware.

Dear forum,

Recently, like 3 days ago, my mouse began to exhibit some strange behaviour. Namely my mouse began to move on it's very own!
*** was happening! So I cleaned the damn thing, and hoped to be done with it. Unfortunately I was wrong. He happily went on by moving himself accross my screen, occasionally he would click on something, and very ironically, start my anti - vrius programs.

So I tried another approach. I feared I had been hacked or something in that direction. So I disconnected myself from the internet by pulling the plug out of my modem. In that case the hacker could not be in my computer and therefore my mouse would just simply stay where I left him.

Again, I was wrong another time. Well I'll be damned, I removed my mouse and went searching for another one. While doing this though I looked from the corner of my eyes and I was outright astonished! The damn thing still moved !

I am at a loss, Virus scans, namely from AVG 8.5, Anti-Trojan Elite delivered no results, but I don't see another explanation then a virus :S

So please forum, Be my savior!

On my main PC whenever I right click to get an option menu, then select say file copy and paste, there is a long pause before the menu works, during which time the activity lights for each pc on my router all flash. This also happens if I double click a word doc in "my documents" - again there is a long pause before Word opens and again the router shows network activity. Even if all the other pc's are off, I still have the same effect. All are running Norton AV2003 Pro, and I have used AdAware to look for anything odd. In one of our companies offices, we have one location where the mouse always seems to go a little crazy at times. I say location because this happens with any PC placed there, not just one machine. Different mouses experience the same effect. Even formatting and reinstalling the OS doesn't help. Apparently it's some type of electromagnetic interference. What can be done to lessen the degree of interference since I have no idea what the source is?

Also, any speakers in the vacinity have squealing sounds that happen from time to time which also points to some type of EMF.

It's a location on the second floor of a steel warehouse, if that information helps at all.

Answer:mouse moves by itself.

Question: cursor moves

my cursor moves as if someone is watching and moving the cursor. what is the cause and how can i correct this,

Answer:cursor moves

It completely depends, do you have something like a VNC server set up on your computer,
what sort of mouse do you have,
what programs do you have running?
have you tried scanning for viruses?

this is very vague though.

cheers,
Jamey

Question: cursor moves ?

please help! the cursor on my sisters pc has suddenly started leaping all over the screen and lots of windows open up at the same time when on line, any ideas gratefully reeived

Answer:cursor moves ?

Sounds like you have been zapped by a hijacker which has changed you home page to one which has lots and lots of pop-ups associated with it.The first thing to do is to try setting your home page to 'Blank'. This should enable you to browse to your desired homepage and set it to default.Do this in Internet Options before going online.Lots of ways to get there but try Intenet Settings in the Control Panel first. After that you need to get some spyware/malware protection such as Spybot S&D - Adaware - A-Squared etc. and run the scans. Delete all the resulting files and then try browsing again.Be very careful which sites you visit.

Arrow moves on its own once starting to type. It will either move up or to the left. Annoying because it will actually reposition where you are typing. Any help would be appreciated.

I have checked on drivers forthe mouse.

thanks!

Hi everyone, Have encountered major problems with my desktop computer over the past few weeks and was wondering if anyone could help me.

Its a Packard Bell with Windows XP and I commonly use IE. Recently the scroll bar at the right of the screen >>>>>>>>>>>> has been frantically moving up and down without any influence from me. This isnt lag or delay because it will happen as soon as I open the window, it seems to be totally spontaneous and random but has started happening every time I open a window (IE as well as MS Word and stuff). I cant even search google cos it drags me to the bottom of the page and then up again of its own accord. The machine tower does alot of beeping when this happens and the whole computer starts to go slow.

I have done some research and thought it could be a script kiddie or something who has hacked into my computer but someow doubt this.

Any help would be hugely appreciated

Thanks

Bonnie (on dave's computer)

Hi, my problem is that sometimes my cursor will move to the left all by itself. I try to shut down and its like trying to shoot moving ducks in order to press the buttons on the screen. It always moves to the left. I have tested the laptop with all the (updated daily) virus software I have, and spyware.
I thought that maybe someone is taking over my pc. Fortunately I don't keep any sensitive files or passwords on it, but it is very annoying to say the least. It hasn't happened for a couple of days now, but it can happen any time. It isn't always when I'm online, but the pc uses a wireless connection.
It only started happening a week ago. Anyway, I'd appreciate any help any of you can give. Oh! Also the machine is very slow.
It's a Dell Lat 610 with xp/256 ram.

please help!

suddenly, my cursor keeps moving to the right of the screen by itself. I disconnected the mouse and keyboard by it would still keep this strange behavioral. An example, i open firefox, click on tools and the cursor would scroll like crazy to the right of the menu bar within firefox so you cant really access any of the menu. Another example, I go to start and as soon as I click on start, the cursor (not the mouse pointer) would go to the right. Even as I write these lines, the cursor moves like crazy to the right as far as it can go......! I scanned my computer with AVG which indicated all is clean. I can't run highjack because as soon as I reach the installation window when you can either run or cancel the installation, the cursor would move right to cancel and I can click on run. NEVER HAD T HIS VERY STRANGE ISSUE!

Anyone can help out? where do I start?

Hi, everytime i go from desktop to another program and back to desktop the screen has moved either up or down. i use the monitor adjuster to put it where it should be and it keeps happening. i am baffled, can anyone shed light on this for me please? thanks...

Answer:desktop moves - why?

Make and model of graphics card? Driver version? These are the most likely culprits; I had a Hercules Kyro 2 that used to do that. I've had better results with Nvidia and ATI.

Hi, my IE7 toolbars moves/compresses by themselves for some reason. I can not recall but think it started after my latest automatic win update.

See pictures with before and after. I have three rows: one menu bar, one links bar and one row with the windows tabs. I adjust them and when I open a page to a new tab and click it - the links bar jumps up to the menu bar. Extremely annoying...

Anyone have any good ideas? I always used to not lock the toolbars and all was fine. I have now tried to lock them but the behaviour is the same.

See pictures for IE version and before/after behaviour.

Answer:IE7 toolbars moves by themselves

put the toolbars in the order you want then right click on a toolbar and choose 'lock toolbars'

I have a ps2 mouse and it has been working fine. Now the mouse only moves up and down. I didn't try to clean it because I felt it was something more that that. So, I bought a new ps2 mouse and this one only moves left and right. I powered down the system, disconnected it and connected the old one again to make sure I had a good connection..it still moved up and down. I went to device manager and removed the mouse and let windows redetect it, but still got the same movement...up and down. I know it has to be something simple...I just can't think of what it is. This has happened to me once before, a couple of years, but for the life of me, I can't remember what I did to correct this problem...HELP PLEASE!

This might be silly, try cleaning the progs on both ends or at least from the computer seeing you put a new one and it didn't fix it. Might not be getting good connection but make sure the power supply is disconnected from the computer when doing this.

You also have in the control panel a mouse icon, you can make sure everything is ok with the settings in there.

Hope this works for you dallasguy.

A few of the Probook 450 G1 laptops that we have here at my organization have shown signs of touchpad issues. The touchpad will often be unresponsive and sparatic. If trying to click, for some reason this will type the letter s on whatever field is highlighted. We have noticed this issue on more than one of this model of laptop. Here is a very unprofessional video of the issue. During the video, you will see that the curser will jump left and right very often and randomly. I at one point I typed a few lines of "asdf" to ensure that the keyboard is working; it was working properly. However, you will see later in the video that when I click the touchpad, it automatically types a few letter s's.  I did not type those myself. A restart will fix the issue, and it may not even happen again for months on end. When it does happen, its very hard for users to get past it. Even saving their work is interupted by the keystrokes that are brought on by this issue.

My mouse would jump all over and open programs at random and move start bar to side or top I switch to a cordless mouse. The mouse still jumps once in awhile but every min or so it wiggles rapidly and tries to migrate across the screen, it doesn't open or move anything, but I feel the problem is still there, it just can't do what it is program to do. I found a exact problem in a thread by absent minded prof I followed what was advised to do ( Filseclab firewall -->ewido antispyware -->ATF cleaner --> etc. ran all on safe mode clean lot out but still there ) any hope of removal ?
