Preferred Solution: Driver Installation Failed : Could not find MEDIA device for this driver.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello everyone. Hope you are all doing good today and able to beat the heat on this very hot day. I have this really old laptop HP Pavillion dv6000. Originally it came with Windows Vista installed back when Windows Vista was first released but eventually I upgraded the laptop to Windows 7. Everything was fine and working until recently where the laptop has no sound. I try to install the sound driver from the HP website and it says "driver installation failed: could not find the device for this driver." No matter what I do I cannot get sound on this laptop. If I go to YouTube and watch a video the video plays just fine but with no sound. When I click on the sound icon next to the time on the desktop bar a window pops up that says "troubleshooting has completed" Problems found: "Hardware changes might not have been detected." I am not sure what is up with this or how to fix it but any help is appreciated thanks.

Answer:It says "driver installation failed could not find the device for this driver"

A Vista laptop likely doesn't have Win7 drivers written...try re-installing the originals from the Driver CD and reboot...Plus it's likely you are trying nVidia or AMD drivers gettin it to work which is a no-no on a laptop....

Windows says device driver installation failed for hp laserjet 1012. This despite printer working correctly. Every time on reboot I get this message. How do I stop windows from trying to install driver for a working device???

Answer:Windows says device driver installation failed

You have to reinstall your printer drivers or you're probably going to continue to get the error. If you are unsure how to go about updating your device drivers for the printer, I would suggest you start here:

"The installation failed because a function driver was not specified for this device instance"
I received this message while installing a USB driver. I have an 80GB External USB 2.0 hard drive attached that was working great a few days ago. I logged on one day to find this device "unrecognized". When I checked the device manager, it said that the driver was missing (?!). I searched for the driver on the MS website, and the device manager seemed to find a suitable one, but upon install I got the message above.

I found the old driver on my system – which seemed odd to me, deleted it, tried to reinstall and received the same message.

I understand that USB 2.0 is backwards compatible, plus it was working previously, so it seems strange that it suddenly died.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hello I'm trying to get the audio working on an R400 (2787-A36), Windows XP SP3. I tried installing the driver from here: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-70595, but it fails giving me a "Could not find Media Device for this Driver" error. Most of the suggestions I came across involved installing the UAA (888111) hotfix from Microsoft. However, it doesn't install saying the Service Pack version is newer than the one I'm trying to install. Can someone help me out here? Let me know if you need any more details. Thanks a lot for your help!

I am seeing several of these Warnings in the Event Viewer, Windows System logs. These are Event ID 219, Source Kernel-PnP.

That said, I am not experiencing any crashes, freezes, BSODs, and everything on my PC seems to be functional. So perhaps I can safely ignore these warnings, but I prefer to get to the bottom of something in case it will lead to problems in the future.

I have done some online research on this event, and none of the suggested fixes seem applicable to me. I have been vigilant in keeping all drivers on my machine up to date. I've checked, and there don't seem to be any newer drivers available for any of my hardware. I also have the Windows Driver Foundation - User-mode Driver Framework service set to "automatic" startup.

The details of this event are below.

Any suggested action to remedy my problem? Thanks!

Go to Start/Search and type devmgmt.msc, right click the devmgmt results and Run As Administrator. In the Elevated Device Manager, are there any devices with yellow flags? If so, these devices need drivers installed. Usually your video card driver.

Hi there!
I'm in a desperate need of help.
This is the situation (sorry for my bad English as always...).
Yesterday I left my PC running with a download in progress through MiPony.I told the program MiPony (for the first time) to shut down the PC at the end of the download.Until then the PC had no problem. Before going to bed I checked the PC and I saw that it was offThis morning I turned on the PC and I glimpsed a sign that it was starting a scan (the only letter I saw was I:\) but I could not stop it.The PC is turned on regularly. Only half an hour later I found out that an entire 3TB HDD in 4 partitions had disappearedI did some search and found this error: The driver \Driver\WUDFRd failed to load for the device ROOT\PARAGONBLOCKDEVICE\0000.I tried to reboot but same situation (no scan and normal situation) but NO drive.I checked the event log (attached) and I see the problem started after 4 different event regarding my network connection (It's a week that I have to reset the modem \ router several times a day)

I tried to update my older Radeon ATI 5450 GPU via windows update...

I received the message from windows update, and showed it failed update with the 0x800706be

However when I go to device manager and check the details of the installed driver it clearly shows the new updated version? So I wonder which is correct the device manager showing the new version of the driver or windows update?

Answer:Failed Update 0x800706be driver...but device mgr shows updated driver?

You can identify the problem using Device Manager, which you can access by:
Opening the Control Panel Window
Selecting and double-clicking System
Clicking Device Manager
In Device Manager check if there is an exclamation point, a yellow triangle, or a question mark against your Dell device. If there is, there is a problem with your Dell device.

Answer:Failed installation of audio driver for Windows XP. Lenovo G560. Driver --> (Conexant Cx20585)

Hi Jose_Galdos,

That's listed as the Conexant Pebble High Definition Smart Audio.
Seeing as how it's HD sound, I think you'll need to load the Microsoft UAA driver first to get it running under XP.

Is  this the driver that you tried to install?

This has been a problem for over a year now. 140+ identical PCs running identical images, with identical keyboards. Some have the problem, some do not, and it's incredibly unpredictable.

PCs are HP Compaq Elite 8300 SFF running Windows 7 x64 Professional.

People will be working at their PC, hear the USB disconnect sound, and their keyboard will become unusable for 30+ seconds.

My PC started BSOD-ing a few days ago and now does it every few hours.

It starts with this error:

The driver \Driver\WudfRd failed to load for the device SWD\WPDBUSENUM\_??_USBSTOR#Disk&Ven_Multi&Prod_Flash_Reader&Rev_1.00#058F63666471&0#{53f56307-b6bf-11d0-94f2-00a0c91efb8b}.

Then moves on to:

Then:

Then:

The print spooler failed to regenerate the printer driver information for driver Microsoft XPS Document Writer for environment Windows x64. Win32 system error code 1797 (0x705). This can occur after an operating system upgrade or because of data loss on the hard drive.

Hi,

Since the 11/18/2012 event viewer (Event ID 219, Task Category 212) has been posting a warning:

The driver \Driver\WUDFRd failed to load for the device WpdBusEnumRoot\UMB\2&37c186b&0&STORAGE#VOLUME#_??_USBSTOR#DISK&VEN (followed by name of USB device)

It only occurs on start up if I have a USB memory device plugged into a USB port. The USB memory device functions perfectly and the error never occurs when I plug in and out a memory device after boot up.

The error only occurs for memory devices like memory sticks, external USB hard drive does not cause this error.

Checking back to around the 11/18/2012 I see nothing that I have changed/installed that might indicate something that has caused this. No other Windows 7 failures or issues.

Booting a second hard drive with windows 7 on the same system (I have this second installation for testing faults etc), the issue does NOT occur.

From checking forums and searching I have found a few others with this issue and a few articles on its cause

WUDFRd failed to load for the device

Event ID 219 is logged after you install Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2

I was just curious as to why it would suddenly start occurring after a particular date when as far as I can tell I have not made any changes to anything around this date.

Also I wondered if there was a fix to stop this, other than removing a memory stick before boot up!

Any thoughts?

Answer:The driver \Driver\WUDFRd failed to load for the device... error

I just started getting this exact same error message logged in Event Viewer when I plug a USB stick into a USB port. It happens with two different sticks from two different manufactures, but it does not happen every time I plug them in. It seems that it may mostly happen the first time I plug a stick in after I have booted up my PC.

Have you been able to find a solution to get these error codes to stop logging?

Full event error: The driver \Driver\WUDFRd failed to load for the device {C5A047D8-CB5B-40E9-B9E3-316AB06B5A18}\WirelessKeyboardFilter`

Driver environment:
Windows 10 x64 desktop
I have a wireless Microsoft mouse
I do not have a Microsoft wireless keyboard
I have the associated transceiver that should work for both (if installed)

This problem started when my Microsoft wireless mouse driver was updated to version 1.0.102.0 (dated 3/16/2016).
This driver update also appears to be responsible for a few other device errors as well:

I believe this new driver assumes you have a wireless keyboard (without checking) and just tries to load a driver for it.

My temporary fix is/was to rollback the driver to the previous Microsoft version 10.0.10586.0 (dated 6/21/2006):

Anyone else run across this condition or have a known solution using the latest driver?

Thanks,

I have this computer what for some reasons wont install USB Smartcard readers.
Its Win7 64.
I have tried different smartcards but they wont help, also i tried to install drives manually but still wont work. I uninstalled and installed drivers many times.

Also i tried, but didnt work:
Change the 'Windows Driver Foundation - User-Mode Driver Framework' from 'Manual' to 'Automatic'.

Also the error from events.

I found something like this.

Should i try it or would it be easier to just format the computer. Its a work pc and it wont take long time, there isnt that much stuff on it.

Answer:The driver \Driver\atrfiltr failed to load for the device...

Update Chipset and USB controller Driver.
It would be helpful if you can send us a screenshot of Device Manage while Card reader is connected.

Hi,

I'm been having issues a looong time with different sorts of BSOD's but I've been able to cook it down to this last one after replacing both graphics card and Logitech headset.

I have the same issue. I have upgraded from Win 7 home, had some issues so I did a clean install of Win 10 home, and I also tried changing the Windows Driver Foundation - User Mode Driver Framework from manual to auto and same as you it did not work. And, Yes, I have downloaded and installed all of the latest driver/firmware from my manufacturer for all my hardware but still have this issue.

Answer:The driver \Driver\WudfRd failed to load for the device .......

Disabling hard disk hibernation solved the problem for me.

Just go to Power options -> Advanced Settings -> Hard Disk -> Turn off hard disk after -> Never

Hope it helps

The driver \Driver\WudfRd failed to load for the device SWD\WPDBUSENUM\{a1c931b2-3b00-11e5-9c14-806e6f6e6963}#0000000008100000.

I know why this happens. The device in the message is an internal SATA AHCI hard drive. All AHCI drives, even internal ones, are considered removal or hot swapable. It even causes the safely remove icon to appear sort of like it was a USB drive. It happened on Windows 8.x. Don't remember if it happened on Windows 7. I can't make any changes in my BIOS to make it not hot swapable as there is no option for this drive.

The fix to get rid of the message in W8 was to modify the Service 'Windows Driver Foundation - User-mode Driver Framework' Changing the Startup type from Manual to Automatic fixed the problem. However, on Windows 10 this method does not work.

I can't disable the Service as it's needed for other devices. Just wondering if anyone found a nice clean way to get rid of the warning message like in W8?

Answer:The driver \Driver\WudfRd failed to load for the device .......

Been searching for days to find a solution for this problem (including fresh installs of Windows 10 etc), and today accidentally found it ... for my Asus Maximus V111 Formula at least, but it may also work on other motherboards

In BIOS, ensure that the XHCI Hand-Off is set to ENABLED (default is disabled)

I am restoring a T400 741722U, putting Windows 10 on it, and I cannot find one of the drivers. Going into Properties of the "PCI Simple Communications Device Manager", I find that the vendor is "8086" (Intel) and the device is "2A44". I find nothing on the Lenovo site. The laptop seems to be working properly (except for the speakers, which must be disconnected as the audio jack does work) and all other drivers have been installed and updated.  Can anybody help here? Answer:T400 Cannot find PCI Simple Communications Driver and PCI Serial Port Driver in Device Manager

Good day.

In my experience the Intel Active Management Technology and/or Management Engine packages supply drivers for these.

Checking here: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-t-series-laptops/thinkpad-t40...under the Chipset section, I don't see packages for Windows 10, though.

Windows 8.1 Pro x64 - please find the complete system log warning details below and a (related or not?) disk controller error below.  Motherboard is an ASRock B75 Pro 3 with an Intel B75 Chipset.
I keep getting these warnings.  I get them for all my Windows Portable Devices (disk drives) on boot up.  Here are my disks:
Disk 0 on internal SATA 3 connector off an
ASMedia ASM1061 chip on motherboard (internal drive, but enumerated as removable) - Seagate ST100DM003-1CH162 D: data drive
Disk 1 on internal SATA 3 connector off the B75 chipset on motherboard (internal drive, not enumerated as removable - gives no warnings or errors - Seagate ST100DM003-1CH162 C: system drive (has Windows 8.1 OS on it)

Disk (2 or 3 - depends on order of USB connection) on external USB 3.0 connector off back I/O panel of motherboard - Seagate BlackArmor DAS35 USB device G: backup external hard drive
There are no symptoms other than another (probably unrelated) disk controller error (shown below).  The controller error is on either drive 2 or 3, but never 0 or 1, so it is one of the external back up drives (the thumb drive or the BlackArmor drive).

Hello,
I have bought a laptop model XPS 13 9350. It came with preinstalled Win10 Home Edition but i need Pro.
I get into the Windows Setup screen but at custom installation it doesnt see the drive or existing partitions and i get the message "We couldn't find any drives. To get a storage driver, click Load driver". I wasnt able to find such a driver and i have no instalation media.
In BIOS i have disabled "Secure Boot" and enabled "Legacy Option ROMs" in order to be able to boot from a USB stick since this model, being slim, dropped the CD/DvD drive bay. I have also tried to update it from Windows and introduce the new key ive got but i get the message it can't....
Any tips will be much apreciated.
Best regards,
Adrian

Hi There ,

I just reformatted my Gateway NV54 laptop with windows Vista on it.
My sound is working fine but my microphone is not working at all. I have tried both the inbuilt mic and an external one.
I downloaded the latest audio driver from http://support.gateway.com/product/default.aspx?modelId=2376 which is the conexant 4.98.9.0. (x84)

When I run the driver setup it just says "Driver installation failed: Could not find the device for this driver."
I am confused because as far as I know because my sound is working that means my audio driver working?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Could not find the device for this driver

That error message suggests to me that you're trying to install the wrong driver for that sound device.
Please double-check on the Gateway website, there may be a choice of two or more audio drivers for that model, depending on what hardware was available at the factory when your laptop was assembled.

If there is a choice, you may have downloaded the wrong one or selected a laptop model which is not exactly the same as yours.

Answer:Driver Installation Failed 1603

I may be rusty but lets see.

Make sure you have complete administrative rights, right click on driver install file and click "Run as admin"

Make sure User account control is turned off or is in lowest security mode for now.

Have you tried installing in safe mode?

Where are you attempting to install this driver from, a disk or from the internet?

It is possible to run a windows update and allow it to attempt and find a update.

Also try connecting the modem first VIA USB or ethernet to see if windows vista automatically configures it for you.

Hi All,
I am facing some hard time installing the driver for my Huawei USB data card. It works fine on 32bit Windows. The most amazing thing is it even worked on the 64bit Windows I have on this laptop but now stopped working.

I reinstalled Windows 2 days back and tried to install the data card immediately before installing any drivers / windows update. I was amazed to see that working (see attached screenshot "Successful Datacard installation_with new Win7 installation.png").

But after i installed all the drivers and ran windows update, the device stopped working. I tried to reinstall the driver, it just fails to install.

I am using Huawei EC 1262 USB mobile datacard. I have used the updated drivers available from both manufacturer's and service provider website.

But still issue persists. I am sure that some driver conflict is going on, but I am unable to trace.

Any help from anyone will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Running Vista in a network controlled environment. I want to give end users the ability to install device drivers on their own. (ie: printers, webcam, memory sticks, etc) But I'm a little confused on how to go about doing this.

This is how you allow users to add devices.....To allow standard users to install a device in a specific device setup class

1. Open the Group Policy Management Editor. To do so, click Start, and then in the Start Search box, type mmc gpedit.msc.
2. In the navigation pane, open the following folders: Local Computer Policy, Computer Configuration, Administrative Templates, System, Device Installation.
3. In the details pane, double-click Allow non-administrators to install drivers for these device setup classes.
4. Click Enabled, and then click Show.
5. In the Show Contents dialog box, click Add.
6. In the Add Item dialog box, type the GUID for the device setup class that applies to your device. Ensure that you include the curly brace characters on either side of the value.
7. Click OK to save your changes. You can repeat steps 5 and 6 for other devices.
8. Click OK to save the completed list, and then click OK to save the policy setting.

Ok, my problem I'm having now is the GUID's. I've seen some information on where to find this...but that's on a machine that already has it. We have laptop users that will go home with these devices, go on the road, etc.... How in t... Read more

Hi

I'm trying to install Windows 7 Enterprise 32 bit on a new Lenovo P50. The thing is the P50 only have USB 3.0 ports. No USB 2.0 port or optic drive. Therefor, Windows have to be installed using a bootable USB.

As many others I have issues installing windows 7 using a USB 3.0 port due to the lack of USB 3.0 driver in WindowsPE and Windows 7. I think a have read all threads on the internet about this issue and spend hour trying to find a solution. No luck so fare :-(

I'm using Rufus to create the bootable USB and have a ISO image with only Windows 7 Enterprise 32 bit.

What I have tried so fare:
Burn image to DVD and used a external DVD drive with USB. No luck drive shuts up when WinPE boots.
Add USB 3.0 driver to the installation image using dism command. Drivers downloaded from:Lenovo. They do not have any .inf driver for Windows 7 32 bit only a .exe. I have tried downloading the once for all other windows versions. No luck
Intel? USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller Driver for Intel? 7 Series/C216 Chipset Family. No luck
Random full USB 3.0 driver package from internet. No luck

The Win7USBpatcher.exe
It must be the lack of USB 3.0 driver. After WindowsPE has booted I have tried various USB devices but nothing is powering up.
Trying to install Windows 10 is no problem.

Next I'll try to install Windows 10 and from there install Windows 7 on a other partition and then delete Windows 10 but not the must smooth way to install windows. And yes, is has to be Windows 7 32 bi... Read more

Answer:Can't find a USB 3.0 driver for Win 7 installation

Why would you think you could install 7 on another partition ? You`ll still have the same problem.

If Lenovo doesn`t have a program like Asus`s EZ Installer which integrates the usb 3.0 drivers into the installer, you may just be stuck with Windows 10, which is not all bad

Why does it have to be W7 Enterprise ?

Heck you could even try creating the usb installer with Asus`s EZ Installer, it just might work

Satellite P100-160, PSPAAE, vista 32 bit,

Today Aero wasn't working and not available in graphics properties. Installed latest display driver from Toshiba UK site, Intel 15.0.1.1114. This version was actually older than my current driver but I thought that maybe as it was the only one availabel that it must be correct.

The driver install failed with an error (no details just 'an error has occurred'). Now I have no aero and my display resolution cant be set above 1280x800 - should be 1440x900

To say I am pisseed would be an understatement. Can anyone help? thanks

Answer:Re: Satellite P100-160 - Display driver installation failed

Hey,

If Aero is not available I don?t think it?s display driver problem?

Anyway, have you removed the old display driver before you installed the new one? Go to device manager > right click on graphic card > uninstall. After reboot the display driver should be uninstalled and you can start with display driver installation.

If you install drivers make sure you are logged in as Administrator and antivirus/firewall is disabled. Restart once again and you should be able to choose the native screen resolution now.

Hello, I have a bit of a problem. I have this controller as seen here:Xbox 360 Controller for Windows | Microsoft Hardware

Okay, I'm trying to hook this thing up to my new Dell Inspiron 15R. The thing is, when I plug it in, it keeps failing the driver installation. Ok now here is other part. I have used this controller perfectly fine on my previous HP Mini 210. As you know, that's a pretty weak computer compared to the one I just bought.

Now, after about 2 hours of researching, I've downloaded the current drivers from M$, and that didn't help at all. Next I came across someone who said check the device manager. Okay, so I did a cross examination with both computers and found the netbook had something called "universal serial bus usb controller" drivers with several others branching off while my Dell did not. Also the fact that the Mini uses USB2.0 while the Dell is 3.0.

So I've come to the conclusion that my Dell is lacking(and it is) these "Controller" drivers. Now the annoying part is when I use the device manager to search for updates, it says it can't find anything. I've googled around(and used the driver disk that came with my Dell) to no avail.

I would greatly appreciate it if anyone could help with my problem. I'm just using the controller for gaming. It works fine in the netbook, so I don't think power to the controller is an issue. My M$ drivers are up to date so I don't think it's those either. If it helps, my computer says the contro... Read more

I have a toshiba canvio basics 1TB portable external hard drive usb powered. Model no. E05A100BBU2AK. I had purchased it some 3-4years back. It worked for some 4-5months or so. Then, whenever i plug it in the port, an error comes "FAILED DRIVER SOFTWARE INSTALLATION". The device doesn't come with a software installation CD or guide... It's plug and play only I think. The white LED light goes on flickering right when i plug it in till i remove it. A click sound along with metallic scratching sound comes from the device at a regular interval while plugged in & also I can feel the drive moving inside as soon as it is plugged.
I had tested it in all the ports of my system, also in many other systems of my friends but gives the same error on plugging in or the system does not identify it. It cannot be seen in My Computer. the hard drive is not getting recognised. In Device manager I cannot see any error in USB ports & everything is workng properly. USB ports works when other devices are plugged in.

Answer:Failed Driver software installation - TOSHIBA USB drive

I think the problem is within the enclosure's interface controllers. You can try to take the drive out of the enclosure and connect it directly to your PC via and available SATA port.

I've been using firepod for a coupld year. Recently I found out that my IEEE1394 card chipset is not compatible. So I panic and uninstall the firepod driver. However, I decided to re-install it and I got BSOD during setup. I finally straighten it out (my PC had malware and software conflict) and when I tried to install it again, it kept saying it can't find the uninst.exe. I've done all the cleaning and a search didn't find any firepod related files. Yet the setup disc kept saying there's an existing version installed. I've cleaned the registry, the startup folder, control panel, actually HD folder...Where else could the "existing version" be?

Thanks

I just recently uninstalled my AMD drivers along with catalyst. I then went into safe mode and used driver sweeper to insure that all drivers were gone. I restarted and my attempts to download greet me with an error message saying "Download Failed: HTTP 404" I honestly have no idea what to do now, I went into device manager and there are yellow signs next to my graphics cards (Crossfire ati radeon 5800 series cards) I'm at a total loss I've been all over google and this forum is my last hope.

Hello. I am on Windows 10 1607 (not a Windows upgrade problem because I've been on the same version with this gfx card for a several months with no issues) I had an update for Nvidia GTX 950 drivers that failed to auto update. I tried to do a manual update and that failed too. Options to roll back the driver were greyed out and I couldn't get a restore point further back than when the issue started. I turned my computer off because I was frustrated. The next morning, I powered it on and now Nvidia is no longer working at all. Microsoft Basic Display was being used instead and Nvidia wouldn't show in BIOS. My resolution was lowered from 1920x1080 to 1024x768. I tried updating/reinstalling Nvidia drivers again. Still got same errors as day before. Pulled out graphics card and tested it on another pc. It works fine there and I was able to get the latest drivers installed on that. Put an Nvidia GTX 980 in my computer to see if I could get that to show and under Display Adapters (dev mngmt) it says Video Controller (VGA Compatible). My screen resolution now allows 1920x1080 but the GTX 980 will not work either. Every time WIndows 10 loads window pops up "precision x no supported hardware detected". Both cards work fine in the other PC. I don't know what else to check. Thanks to anyone that can help!

I am trying to update my Lenovo Ideapad U410's Wireless Display software mainly because of an error with the USB-IF xHCI USB Host Controller that started occuring on January 1, 2013.  I have read in many different forums online that this WiDi upgrade will fix this specific error. However, after downloading the Intel Wireless Display Driver for Microsoft Windows 8 (32-bit, 64-bit) (V3.5.41.0) for my Lenovo Ideapad U410, an error occurs during the installtion every time. This error reads: InstallShield Wizard Aborted.  This platform is not compatible with Intel(R) WiDI or the application is in use.  Please see the log for more details.  Your system has not been modified.  To complete installation at another time, please close the Intel(R) WiDi application if it is running and run setup again with the compatible platform. Does anyone know how I can successfully upgrade the WiDi driver on my computer and avoid this error message? I am running Windows 8 64-bit.

Hi, I did a clean install of Windows 10 in my new Lenovo Y700. I was able to install all drivers sucessfully except the following: 1. Energy Manager and Flight Mode Driver 2. Lenovo Energy Management driver for Windows 10 (32-bit, 64-bit) - Notebook I don't get any error msg. The instalation just ends abruptly. As a result, I am not able to get the power/battery management features in the lenovo settings app. I am particularly interested in the features that doesn't allow the battery to charge fully. Any advice would be of great help! Hi,
I have recently bought Samsung galaxy S5 device. When I tried to connect it to my computer I nothing happend (what should have happen is that it will pop up the "What do you want to do? Go to folder/..." menu).
So I tried another usb socket. still the same problem. I have Ubunto install as a sperate OS on my computer, and there everything is working fine - so the problem is not in the cable/USB on my computer.

I went to Device manager and under "Portable devices" I see the "SAMSUNG Mobile MTP Device" icon with a yellow mark. I open it and I see "this device is not working properly because windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (code 31)". I also have "SAMSUNG Mobile USB Modem" under modem in device manager (but it says that this device is working properly).
I tried to remove the "SAMSUNG Mobile MTP Device" and double click it and choose "update driver"->"search online". It found the driver but was unable to install it (got a "access deined" screen).

**This is not a problem of registry "UpperFilter"/"LowerFilter" problem. I saw it online while I was google a soultion and this is not my case***

I also tried to install the driver by installing "samsung KIES". It didn't help.

When I connect the decive and go to Windows Update -> a new update for samsung mobile is showing but when I choose it and click update it fails e... Read more

I'm sure that you've googled this and it isn't to patronize you, but here are a couple things I've found that MAY help.

Possible Solution 1:

Possible Solution 2:

How to enable the hiding admin account for login
1- In the run type: secpol.msc
2- Find and click on, Local Policies, security options,
3- Over to the Right in the policy setting, (accounts: Administrators account status) Enable
Close tht and got to
1- Run, lusrmgr.msc
2- Create a new user, or use Administrater, Built-in account for administering.

If you chose you can change the name and add a password, now when you log off you can have the options to log in as admin, owner of this pc and have controll over all users. its better to have th admin login the the below

For the past couple of days i have been having a problem where my computer just shuts down on its own and then turns back on again. It mostly happens when im launching or playing a game but a couple of times i was just on the desktop and it restarted. I have checked the event logs and it keeps saying this:

The driver \Driver\WudfRd failed to load for the device SWD\SensorsAndLocationEnum\LPSensorSWDevice.

I have searched all over the internet for the past couple of days and have found multiple answers (all of which didn't work). Some say its the psu and others say its the gpu. I personally think it was the windows update that i did three days ago because that was the day it started but i have yet to see anything online about a windows update causing this. I have already updated the graphics drivers and chipset drivers but it didn't change anything. Can someone just tell me whats going on because is just built this pc about 6 months ago and nothing like this has ever happened.

Briefly, any attempts to reinstall network adapter driver for onboard component and also for the just-bought-and-installed in PCI-E slot network adapter results in the message: Cannot install drivers. No Intel(R) Adapters are present in this computer.
Details (lots):
Hardware: Acer Aspire M5811 with Win7 Home Premium 64bit Motherboard is a Foxconn P55M01 with onboard Intel(R) 82578DC Gigabit Network Connection
Driver it had at the time it stopped working was 11.2.19.0
Basically the family member who owns this PC stated the network stopped working mid task. (Yes, it was a safe site, they are not that type) Couple of hours on the phone with the internet provider ended with a "The problem is at your end, nothing we can do..." spiel. Understandable once I had the PC delivered to me and went into the device manager to see a row of yellow triangles for every network component.
Rebooted into safe mode with networking. Ran Norton Internet Security. Ran Malwarebytes. Nothing. No internet. Green and orange lights at network port. OK I think. Lets reinstall the drivers. Go to Acer website. Get drivers. Will not install. Says it cannot find any network device. Restart PC and go into BIOS. Onboard LAN is enabled there. Get newer driver from Intel website (nice to have 2 PCs) and same thing.
Fine, enough mucking around. Empty PCI-E 1x slot just begging for a network card. Go buy the Intel(R) Gigabit CT Desktop Adapter. Follow the proper grounding / powered dow... Read more

Hi,

I don't know the terminologies so I may not convey my problem as best as possible. So please bear with me, I will try my best to clarify.

My situation is as follows:

I purchased a HP laptop that has window 7 home premium OA edition pre installed. I decided to shrink my primary partition and install ubuntu on it.

However after ubuntu finish installing. I get a boot error and it leads me to the use the recovery tool. At that point, I am prompt to put in a win 7 cd.

I do just that but there is no response. I also tried to go into the window 7 installation screen but it cannot find any drives.

On the linux live cd however, I am able to see all my partitions on the install screen.

I suspect that I might have installed ubuntu on some important factory config files. Is there anything I can do?

I really appreciate the help, thanks!

Answer:No device driver on window 7 installation

Can you still boot to W7? If you cant this might fix the problem with windows7 booting, and maybe ubuntu, but I have no experience with ubuntu except I know it can be a pain :

You could try booting to the w7 dvd and when you get to custom install, click on repair, and see if it fixes the boot screen. If it finds something wrong it will ask if you want it to repair, select yes, and then it will prompt you to reboot -now there should be at least W7.

When you install ubuntu you may have to create a new partition - delete the ubuntu partition, firstly, then recreate it in the empty space.

Hey folks.

I burnt the Windows 7 RC ISO to a DVD no problem as far as I'm aware. In am able to boot the computer off of the CD. When I go to install Windows 7, it tells me it can't find the CD/DVD device driver.

The driver is a SonyNEC Optiarc 20x AD-7190A model. Found the latest firmware (v 1.05); installed it.

Still not able to locate the drivers upon install.

I'm stuck.

Any ideas?

Answer:Windows 7 RC - Cannot find CD/DVD device driver?

Very strange. To even tell you that, it had to read the data from the DVD lol!

There are other ways to install it, such as from a USB stick or external hard drive. Now that I think about it, you could probably even use a second internal hard drive to boot from (after setting things up of course) to install Windows 7 to the first.

You could possibly check out one of them.

Or if possible, move the DVD drive to its own port on the motherboard and set it as master with the jumper (if it's an IDE drive.)

have you recently installed a new piece of hardware?
Most likely is that it's a new USB or mouse you've plugged in, and windows hasn't managed to automatically download drivers.
usually just disconnecting then reconnecting the device (make sure your internet is working) fixes the issue.

This is which driver software I downloaded: http://www.filesmag.com/2016/01/download-full-cobra-driver-pack-2015-iso-free.html

I would appreciate any help if someone can find me that driver I also emailed Lenovo but got no response from them it's been 72 hours now :|, Thanks in Advance.

Does Lenovo provide Windows 10 drivers for your PC?

From an etaf (Wayne) post:

How to identify hardware in Device Manager

right click on the device with a yellow!

from the menu choose
properties
Click on the Details Tab
Under the Property - drop down
Select hardware ids
Right click and select all
Then right click again and select copy
Copy and paste that information here

You should see a code similar to this

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_008A&SUBSYS_53058086&REV_34

please reply with the full code for your device(s)

The portion of the code highlighted in RED is the Vendor ID and the portion highlighted in GREEN is the Device ID. In this example:

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_008A&SUBSYS_53058086&REV_34

Vendor ID = 8086
Device ID = 008A

Post back those two numbers make sure we know which is vendor ID and which is device ID

These codes can be looked up at this site http://www.pcidatabase.com/

As an example the link for that database tells us that;
Vendor ID code 8086 is for this vendor - Intel Corporation
Device ID code 008A is for this device - Intel Centrino Wireless-N1030

I was trying to do a fresh install for this X61 notebook computer (7675-CTO, 4GB memory).  I encountered this weird problem and need some help.  Thanks in advnace. I first did a clean installation of Windows Vista XP2, Ultimate x64 retail edition.  It went through smoothly.  Then I started to install Lenovo Drivers and Applications.  I first installed Intel Chipset Support.  Then I tried to install the "Lenovo System Interface Driver", however, the installation failed.  The installer told me that "Lenovo System interface Driver is required to install this driver or application."  I thought this is almost a cool joke. Screen copies are available at this website: http://sites.google.com/site/lenovoproblem Thanks much.

A graphics driver update installation was prompted today, which I accepted.  Upon completion of the download, my laptop went blank.  It now appears to be a brick. So, how do I get this fixed?  I can't reboot the laptop.  It has power to it, the circular "cursor" that would indicate some kind of installation was taking place, sat there forever, stopped and is now at a blank screen.  I get no further options to do anything else. I don't have a restore disk as there is no optical drive in this laptop.  How do I get my laptop functional again without a screen and operating system with which I can work?  There is no safe mode - there is NO "mode" at all. I wish I could provide more details, but I cannot get device specific information as the laptop is a brick as I said previously. I have information with this new laptop that says I can call HP within the first 90 days for free assistance.  When I do that, it tells me to go online.  Fortunately, the laptop is not my only pc (I am on a desktop pc now for clafication) or I wouldn't be able to do that.  I've tried a few links on the support page which tell me they are not functioning(?). How am I supposed to fix this laptop without tech support that was promised by HP within the first 90 days? Help please.  Thank you.

Hi, guys.

When I want to install certain programs, there is a set of error messages that makes the installation fail. They're as follows:

"c:\PROGRA~1\Symantec\S32EVNT1.DLL. An installable Virtual Device Driver failed Dll initialization. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application."

If I push "ignore" then this message appears:

"c:\Windows\system32\autoexec.nt. The system file is not suitable for running ms-dos and microsoft windows applications. Choose 'close' to terminate the application."

I have a feeling that this is caused by a Norton antivirus program I installed couple years ago that I had a heck of a time removing. Could there be a chance that some parts of the program is still lingering to cause this?

I've been having this problem for the longest times and threw away a bunch of software because I simply couldn't install them. It's soooo frustrating. Please help!

Answer:Error Message: virtual device driver failed Dll initialization

It's a fairly common problem with an easy fix.

Download and run the file in this post from Elvandil:

It will fix the second error -- I'm not sure about the first.

Answer:Device Driver Installation Process programmatically

Hello and welcome to the forum.

You do not mention what device you are wanting to install drivers for? With Vista, usually all you have to do is hook up the device to the USB port and it installs the drivers automatically.

Does the install cd that came with the device stop and prompt you to connect the device before it can continue? Sometimes that is normal, depending on the device such as a all in one printer, copier and fax machine.

Hi,

Last week, the "Found new hardware, installing drivers" thing comes up in the tray after starting up, despite the fact that I had not installed any new hardware recently. But it couldn't find what it wanted so it then proceeded to do some kind of a search which took a long time so I went into Task Manager to End Task.

Just today though, it did manage to successfully 'install' the drivers and when I clicked, it just said it was an unknown device. Nothing appeared in Safely Remove Hardware that I didn't recognise, nor when I went into Device Manager did I see anything with a yellow question mark next to it. I trawled the net for people who had similar problems and on one forum someone was prompted to go to C:\Windows\inf and open up setupapi.app, which I have done. Long string of info but at the top it says this, if it's relevant:

Service Pack = 1.0

ProductType = 1

Also the date it started doing it was apparently 2nd January 2012 so this bit at the end might be relevant

Well if I read it correctly, the updates are related to ACPI, which is Advanced Configuration and Power Interface. This is related to your control panel > power options.

Hi,

Everytime I switch on my laptop I get a device driver installation complete window that pops up. There is no tick box to click to say do not show me this message again. I know it isn't causing any detriment to the laptop but it is annoying and shouldn't happen. Does anybody know how to stop it. Thanks

Answer:device driver installation complete message

Check Device Manager, enable "show hidden devices" and report any yellow flagged devices. It sounds like it's actually NOT installing the driver properly, and it would be a good idea to find out exactly what the device is.

My first guess would be some kind of USB device. You might try unplugging them all and see if it goes away. Also, disabling any unused hardware in BIOS (such as parallel ports, serial ports, etc...) is always a good idea.

I'm trying to install windows 7 on my freshly built pc by using a usb device (no cd drive as of yet). I followed this guide to do this: http://www.intowindows.com/how-to-install-windows-7vista-from-usb-drive-detailed-100-working-guide/.

Whenever I try and boot the device on my new computer I get the "cd/dvd device driver missing..." error and a box for me to select drivers. I have tried changing the boot order in the BIOS but to no avail and I wanted to change my sata ahci mode but I couldn't find this option (american microtrends v1.6 bios).

I'd really appreciate it if somebody could help me solve this issue.

Answer:A required CD/DVD device driver is missing, usb installation

As CD/DVD drives are relatively inexpensive and an essential component of a PC these days, you could save a lot of head-scratching and hassle by installing one before trying to install Windows. Since it's a freshly built PC I'm surprised you didn't include one as part of the build.

Hi. This is not exactly win 10 specific question, i had same problem in win 7, but now that i'm on win 10, that problem is still there.

here's what's going on:
I have high-end gaming PC with GTX 980 and 4k monitor and 1080p monitor as secondary.
4k Monitor is connected via DisplayPort and other monitor is using HDMI
Both of those monitors have built-in speakers (actually i don't think 1080p monitor has speakers)
But here's the problem, windows 10 keeps automatically installing HDMI audio drivers and 50% of the time when i boot my system, all my software defaults to the stupid HDMI sound.
This is extremely annoying and i'm about to pull my hair out over this. All my media players default to monitor audio, even tho windows does not select it as "default device".
Also even tho other monitor doesn't have speakers, system still thinks that the monitor has speakers and sets it as audio device.

Also when i record gameplays using shadowplay or other recorder, lot of times there's no audio on videos, because screen recorders also default to that dumb hdmi audio.
it's really annoying me, i can't be bothered to check audio every time i do something.

I really need a way to tell windows 10 to STOP doing that.

Answer:How can I disable automatic driver / device installation?

First, when posting about hardware issues, it is in your best interest to identify the hardware, since other users might have already found specific solutions. Don't miss out!

using HDMI

That's your problem, right there.

If your "1080p monitor" does not have DVI, I am 100% confident it's a piece of crap and not worth the space on your desk. But if it does have DVI, please do trow away that HDMI cable and use the proper computer connection.

Your "4k monitor" should have an option in it's menu for audio, search for a turn off feature there.

Coming back to Windows 10 being a problem, I think you are barking up the wrong tree. I actually admire it's resilience! What's the right tree? Might be Nvidia driver. Specifically, audio support. So please perform a clean custom install of nvidia setup (use DDU), unselecting HD Audio Driver. If that won't fix it, you might need to unselect Geforce Experience, too, since it adds a virtual audio driver (you've mentioned you use shadowplay so this might be a no-go, but worth a try; also, OBS).

Trying to Install a usb device driver on my windows 7 64bit Labtop. I get the message: windows encountered a problem installing the driver software for the device. Windows found the driver software for your device but encountered an error attempting to install it. USB composite device. The system cannot find the file specified.

I tried to install the driver manually but I get the same error. This happens to all usb devices I try to install.

Do you have any solution for me?

I just loaded XP on a new hard drive. I had some problems getting the drivers just right on this one, but finally figured it out. Now the only glitch is that a few minutes after startup, a window pops up saying Device Driver Installation Wizard, then Installation Results: and the box below it where drivers might be listed is blank. Since my drivers are now in good shape, how do I get this annoying screen to go away?

Answer:Device Driver Installation Wizard keeps popping up

try checking "msconfig".

Start > Run > type in "msconfig" > Hit Enter

Select the "Startup" tab > and look for "UIUCU.exe" > Disable this startup > Restart PC.

After formatting my PC for some reason my wifi usb adapter TP-Link TL-WN321G stopped working. After 5 days trying to fix it I decided to post here to get some tips.
So far I tried reformatting my PC, uninstalling all usb ports and reinstalling them and even installing new ones! (yeah i but a 10-1 double usb port card) the problem persists.
All the info i have so far are:
-TP-Link TL-WN321G, TL-WN422G, my Toshiba external Hard drive and my Samsung phone are all Unknown Devices.
-When I try to manually install the drivers I get the "the folder you specified doesn't contain a compatible software driver for your device" error.
-My mouse is not working corectly when connected to these ports.

My PC specs are
CPU Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 6420 @ 2.13GHz
Motherboard ASUSTeK Computer INC. P5N-E SLI
(bios Phoenix - AwardBIOS v6.00PG)
2GB RAM
GPU NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GS
OS Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit
BTW my device manager is like this at the moment:

Hi,

A friend's computer is running Windows 7 Home Premium and has started to run EXTREMELY SLUGGLISHLY because it seems to have lost its USB device drivers, so it's constantly trying to re-install them, even though it can't seem to succeed.

The installation window seems to have no way of stopping this fruitless task from running anymore, it just continues running and running with lots of X saying "failure" ... but it continues running.

I was sure that Start Mode would prevent this happening and allow me to get into Control Panel to remove the (presumably) faulty drivers, so they can be re-installed from scratch.  But it still runs.

I've discovered that Device Driver Installation can be stopped using a tool - but it's only available in Windows 7 Professional.

Please can you help me, because unless I can stop the stalling installation the computer is too sluggish to use - and there must be a simple way to resolve this problem.

I do hope you can help me.

Regards,
Julia

Answer:Resolving a "stuck" device driver installation

If this hasn't been going on too long (not restarted too much)"Last Known Good" from advanced start up menu may help. If not then try "System Restore" to before the problem started...

If neither of these work you can run "sfc /scannow" from a command prompt which should fix it.
