I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Malfunctioning wireless network adapter (Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AG)

I have similar experience too, but malfunction only happens when I am trying to connect to my school network which is WPA2-enterprise or WPA-enterprise. My wireless seems to work fine at home with WPA-personal. All other laptops work fine (so it is my laptop). The signal is fine because it register 100% strength. Basically, mine works for a few minutes, then it starts malfunctioning (school network only). During malfunction, it cannot detect any wireless network (even those that aren't WPA-enterprise). When it can detect wireless network again, it may or may not be able to reconnect to the school network.

This has been a problem since day one of purchase and I am about to toss this computer in the trash!  Lost many days of production and probably some vital business because of this.  I have performed yet another complete rescue and recovery clean install and performed all windows vista updates as well as lenovo updates.  Every time the computer is moved just a little bit the wireless drops.  If you unplug the power cord the wireless drops.  Even changing power settings under device manager it still drops. I have tried to find the information to reseat the adapter but have come up empty.  With the thousands of posts and blogs all over the internet I would think Lenovo would have fixed this problem.  I am in the process of buying another laptop because this one is very unreliable and I have lost valuable time, business and potential customers because of the down time. I wondered if anyone has swapped wireless adapters with any luck?  If anyone has the schematic to remove/replace/reseat the adapter or a link for that information I would be grateful!  You purchase top end for business with anticipation of few problems.  My old IBM 386 & 486 are still working with no problems!  HELP BEFORE THE SLEDGE HAMMER FALLS! Thanksgrgsr

I have had a Linksys BEFW11S4 Version 4 Wireless router for quite some time.  It works like a champ and I have one Laptop wired to it and a second using Wireless working just fine.  Recently, I received a new ThinkPad W500 Laptop with an Intel WIFI Link 5100 AGN wireless network adapter.  The older laptop (ThinkPad T60p) that works just fine with the router uses a11a/b/g Wireless LAN Mini PCI Express Adapter by Atheros.  However, the NEW laptop (the W500) with the Intel Adapter fails to connect to the Router.  It will either indicate a failure while "Waiting for Association" or it will indicate a failure when waiting to "renew IP Address".  Sometimes, it will show a signal strength close to ZERO (Even as the older laptop with the other adapter is showing a signal strength close to 100%) When I called Linksys support, I was told that the facts that the Router (a) works find with the wired Laptop and (b) works fine with the 11a/b/g NEtwork Adapter and (c) works fine when WIRED to the new laptop all indicate that the problem is NOT with the router at all -- but with the Network Adapter.  Can anyone tell me what has to be adjusted in the Adapter settings?  Right now, I am using IBM Access Connections for BOTH of the wireless laptops.  I have made sure to set IDENTICAL values for SSID and WEP (128-bit) [static] password.  I have also ensured that all OTHER settings are the same for the two laptops.  Yet, in... Answer:Intel WIFI Link 5100 AGN Network Adapter does not recognize Linksys Wireless Router

I would like to add some information that I left out that MAY be crucial here.On the NEWER ThinkPad, I am using Access Connections 5.02.  At work, the wireless adapter works properly and I am able to use the Intel Adapter. It is only at home where I have the Linksys Router that I have a problem.I also noticed that when I looked at the Wireless Driver Properties, there was NO tab for "wireless" -- which I would have expected to see....Instead there are only TWO tabs... one for "General" and one for "Advanced"... Just like what you would see for an EthernetAdapter..... this all looks a bit weird to me.....As I did not configure this laptop, I do not know if the Hotkey and Power Manager were installed BEFORE the Access Connections or not.... any ideas? TIA --Zvi

I have a Gateway FX series 17" laptop and yesterday when I got home from university and took the computer out of my bag to start working, the wireless card just didnt exist, no networks were recognized and when i tried to troubleshoot it told me that no device was connected. Wired internet works just fine. And the wireless card appears in the device manager.

methods i have tried to no avail:
-turning the wireless switch on and off
-uninstalling the device and rebooting
-updating drivers
-manually downloading driver from Intel's website
-insulting the device's mother

I'm suspecting this might be a hardware issue but if anyone has some advice that would be great. For the time being I am just using a wired connection but I'm going to need the wireless when I'm. back in class

,Thanks guys

Hey guys, I've been a X61T(tablet) user for over 2 years now and have never had WiFi connection issues, whatsoever. I upgraded to Windows 7 last year and things only got better.  But, today, after uninstalling a program called "Connectify", that basically transforms your laptop into a WiFi hotspot, my Wireless Radio JUST WON'T SWITCH ON! My Wireless Radio switch(that's in front) is on(I pushed it to the right). Up until yesterday, it was working great. I even used my Wireless Network to create a WiFi hotspot using Coonectify. I also deleted it from Connectify because it wasn't working. And then, I just uninstalled Connectify because I didn't see a point in creating a hotspot, when I have a Wireless Router at home. I rebooted my PC and Viola --- WIRELESS RADIO HAS BEEN DEAD! I don't see the green LED for WiFi on the extreme left blinking anymore. Gone!  Went to Device Manager and I didn't see any problems with the Intel WiFi Link 4695 Device driver. I still uninstalled it and downloaded the most recent one. STILL NOT WORKING! I checked the registries to see if I can find any entries from Connectify that may be causing the problem, but Nada! Nothing there as well! I'm feeling pretty downbeat because I got a new Wireless Router yesterday NETGEAR N-150 and not even 24 hours later, I'm back to using ETHERNET cable! I'd really appreciate it if someone can help me out here! Thanks.

Takenote that you can't just replace the card with the same model number without complying with the indicated fru number. Doing so, will result to a error message at startup. This restriction is popularly called as the whitelist. An alternative to the desired wireless communication between your TV and your unit is to have ChromeCast. You might want to explore this since this is easier compared to the replacement of the wifi card.

Hi Folks,This is my first post and I hope someone can help me.I recently bought a T61 with the Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN card running on XP.The problem I am having is that I can not stay connected to my wireless network. When I turn on the laptop automatic connection is spotty at best. Once I do get connected, as soon as I open a browser (Firefox or IE) the connection drops and my router freezes. I know the problem is not with the router because it works smoothly with my business Dell Latitude D620 or a very old Thinkpad A31p.I've tried everything I can to rectify the problem (drivers, settings etc.). It's not easy downloading drivers to a flash drive on my wife's desktop and copying it to my laptop. From my research on the internet, it seems a lot of people are having the same issue. Thanks in advance.

Answer:Wireless Connection Problems with a Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN

HiI have the exact same problem.  I have read about many others with the same issue.   I wish I had an answer for you.  There are a couple of things going on.  The Lenovo power management wants to turn the wireless off at a whim.   Authentication seems to fail for me with WEP turned on (works with other laptops using the same WRT54G).   I am running a T61 with Windoze XP.  Our work Wireless AP (WAP) has WEP enabled.   Wireless will work on the T61 at home with no WEP but not at work.    I am thinking about installing linux (running network manager) on the T61 becuase I know it will probably work.  I think the troubles are with the Lenovo wireless configuration utility. I am surprised that Lenovo has not fixed such a big problem.   It doesn't reflect a quality product.

You'll need a modded BIOS in order to use that card in R500. Stock BIOS will not allow the machine to boot with it.

Hi Guys, hopefully someone will have some insight into this issue.
Background: Built this computer about 3 weeks ago (wifi worked perfectly immediately- even before installing driver) One week ago I moved wifi adapter from one PCI-E slot to another (no issues at the time)

TheParts:
Motherboard: asus z87-A
Wireless adapter: Rosewill N900PCE Dual Band Wireless N900 PCI Express Adapter
OS: windows 8.1

Link to adapter: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833166076[1]

On Sunday my internet became very, very slow. So slow that it could barely load the simplest of webpages (i'd say less than 1mbps) Also, my connection became very intermittent (sometimes it would disconnect, sometimes unable to connect, sometimes limited connection, etc) I attempted to solve this problem with increasingly drastic measures:
restarting computer
Restarting in diagnostic and selective startup
returning wifi adapter to original location on motherboard
loading system restore to 2 weeks prior
re-installing windows
made sure it wasnt a problem with router (compared connection speed to my laptop (in the same room)

On the fresh instal, the problem persisted. I installed the motherboard drivers, and the graphics card drivers, and last i tried to install the wifi adapter drivers.(First attempt i installed with disk from the box) It said it needed to restart the computer to finish. When the computer booted back up again, I was met with this bluescreen

After installing Win7 Prof x64 everything with WiFi was working correctly. Yesterday I wanted to try Vista x64 driver with Connection Utility. In the device manager it shows that device is working corectly but in fact it is not working at all. Uninstalling connection utility didn't help and windows cannot find any driver at the HDD or in windows update.

Any idea what could be done to fix it?

I know the problem is not with my router because my other non-Lenovo computers with Wireless N cards are getting signals much above 54.0MBPS. Is there something I have to enable or do you guys have any ideas? I have all the latest drivers installed.

Answer:Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN not getting above 54.0MBPS

Your router must be 802.11n Draft 2 compliant  and  have dual band support (2.4GHz and 5GHz) to achive 802.11n speed with a fully Draft 2 compliant WiFi card like the Intel 4965AGN. Cheers, Bill

I am new here. I'm not even sure if this question is in the correct forum (I hope so). I have a Toshiba Satellite A305 laptop that I purchased a few months ago. In the last month, the wireless connection has been dropping like mad ! And more recently, when it drops, it says it can't find any wireless networks. I then have to perform a hard shut off (by holding the power button till it powers down) and wait a few minutes to turn it back on. I have uninstalled the wireless adapter and then reinstalled it and that didn't work either. Also, all the drivers are up to date. I am very frustrated at this point and don't know what to do. Any help that anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated !!

Thanks !!

Answer:Intel Wireless WiFi Link 5100 problem

It is always a VERY good idea to check the microfilters (if using ADSL) which are fitted into your phone sockets and make certain that you have microfilters in any socket in the house. Microfilters are very cheap to get hold of and its worth having a few spare.

Greetings all! I have a Lenovo X61s that I purchased, and I have decided to upgrade the wireless card in it so that I can use the 802.11n that I have at home. When I installed the new adapter in the Mini-PCIe slot and restarted the device I got an error message saying the the card was not supported and had to be removed.  Per the X61 matrix (http://shop.lenovo.com/ISS_Static/merchandising/US/PDFs/X61_X61s_USEN_02.pdf) the 4965AGN is supported.  Has anyone else seen this? Regards,TC Labby

The BIOS has a whitelist of supported wireless cards. You need a Lenovo branded 4965agn card or else the BIOS will not allow you to boot the computer until you remove the card. The Intel 4965agn wireless card you are looking for is the FRU 42T0865.

I have an hp pavilion dv6 1355dx win 7 64bit intel core 2 duo. The wifi was working fine with my remembered connections and connected automatically within range. Then it started saying limited connection and would not let me browse the internet. After trouble shooting it said "There might be a problem with the driver for the Wireless Network Connection adapter" So I uninstalled reinstalled Intel(R) WiFi Link 1000 BGN it was listed under network adapter so I'm assuming that means it is the adapter but I was told it is the driver. Still confused on that. A friend suggested that I delete my remembered connections now it just says no connections available.

Under network adapter properties even tried changing the channel width for band 2.4 thats Value was set 20 MHz only to Auto, as I was instructed by my college IT guy. I've searched for the drivers installed the one on the hp support site. According to my model i have Atheros Wireless LAN Adapter, in the devices supported list nothing that I thought was the adapter or driver was listed. Downloaded the file they said contains the driver for that adapter...didn't seem to do anything other than install. Tried rebooting still nothing. Anyone have any ideas or is it just a lost cause?

Thanks

Allison

Answer:Intel(R) WiFi Link 1000 BGN wireless internet won't work

You could try backing up your data and re-loading your system from your backup software or from a restore point from before the start of your problem? That way the network adaptor will have a working driver installed.

Type: 7764-CTO S/N: L3-xxxxx OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit Driver version: 13.1.1.1 In a nutshell, my WiFi has stopped working overnight; that is, it had been working flawlessly for more than a year, and one day when I woke up it decided to quit. Here's what happens when I turn the radio on now: it will scan for APs as usual, but only report a fraction of the list as it used to - it may not report even the preferred APs, which it had no problems connecting to before - and never make a connection. On some rare occasions, it might be successful at making a connection, but the connection would be reported as limited (i.e. no Internet access) and it would not stay connected for more than a few seconds. 90% of the time the 802.11 radio would try connecting, fail, and power off. Here's what I have tried: I have tried updating to the latest driver, as well as reverting back to the Windows 7 bundled driver. I have tried making connections to several working networks (e.g. friend's home, office, cafes, etc) to rule out my router being the source of the problem. I have also tried running the Ubuntu LiveCD to see if it would work under a different OS. Obviously, nothing has worked. For those who are curious, ethernet connection is working fine. I'm leaning toward it being a hardware failure. Does anyone have other thoughts and perhaps even a solution?

Answer:T61p Intel Wireless Wifi Link 4965 AGN driver upgrade

did you download the Lenovo driver, or did you down load the driver from Intel? Lenovo writes alot of their own drivers for things like wifi cards, its possible that by downloading Intel's driver, it isn't compatable with thinkpads.

We're in hospital, she's I'll, I am 24/7 carer.

My Vostro 1720 connects promptly at home, WiFi or LAN.

Hospital has public use WiFi provided on each floor. Transmitter has TP-Link on the cover and twin aerials.

The Vostro can see transmitters for 4 floors, the signals come & go and, regularly disappear.

2 iPads & an iPhone stay connected unless, the signal disappears, in the same room. Signals are described as excellent or good.

The Vostro when I bring it in, after using at home, connects automatically. Twice has reached the stage when all 3 links I can see with a decent signal, can't connect, sometimes get asked for the password, run trouble shooter multiple times with no success. First time internet connection worked for 2 days, 2nd time for an hour, then couldn't log on to any link.

I'm puzzled why the Vostro doesn't hold the connection and the IOS devices do.

Public holiday over in a couple of days and I plan to catch the lady chief of the hospital and the IT manager.

I would be most grateful for queries, comments or, references to help in these encounters.

Thank you and regards

My wireless adapter will connect to my network with static ip address set manually but the 'automatically detect settings' option will not work and I receive the message "Unidentified Network" in the task bar.

Any help will be appreciated.

2. Use WPA2-PSK security rather than WPA

3. Connect to network using network password

I hope this isn't too dumb of a question:

I recently upgraded to ATT's fastest DSL service, and received their 2WIRE combination Modem/Wireless Router. It is working great with my desktop PC, wireless printer, 2 laptops, and 3 iPhones.

I'm thinking of setting up my old desktop computer (Dell Dimension 4600, Windows XP) for internet TV in the living room.

I have an almost-new D-link DIR-628 wireless router that I used before with the previous SBC DSL modem. Is it possible to set up the DIR-628 as a simple network adapter to use with the old desktop PC? I have seen numerous instruction in this forum for setting up a second router as an access point, but they all seem to require an ethernet connection. I know it might be overkill, but this router is likely to just sit in the box forever.

Any thoughts?

Thank you,
Randy

I have a laptop with an Intel(R) WiFi Link 5300 AGN nic

1) Shows up in Device manager as healthy
2) Has latest driver as per manufacturer (hp elitebook 6930p) running win2008R2 server.
3) keyboard wifi indicator lites up
4) Device shows up as active in networking devices

however, I cannot see any wireless ssid's to associate with.
I checked mfg web site for latest drivers and the intel web set for the adapter itself. After many downloads of win8 and win7 driver bundles (no support for win2008r2 apparently) I have not found a solution yielding a fix. I did stumble across a Intel proset/Wireless wifi software utility manual diagnostic tool v15.6.0.0. When it runs, i get:

"Wireless Hardware is not bound to transport driver"

To be exact:
#Event,Source,Time,Error Severity,Domain,User,Description
1,Manual Diagnostic,04/12/2013 15:57:12,Warning,Unknown,Administrator,Hardware Test
- Result : Failed, Summary : Wireless Hardware is not bound to transport driver

With the same tool i can run it manually on just selecetd tests (hardware, driver, radio, scan, associate, auth, signal, ping)
All of them fail (as expected except the driver test:

To be exact:
#Event,Source,Time,Error Severity,Domain,User,Description
1,Manual Diagnostic,04/12/2013 16:00:07,Warning,Unknown,Administrator,Driver Test
- Result : Passed, Summary : Driver is loaded. NETwNs64 Version :14.3.2.1

The driver test passes, just not the link to the transport apparently. Not sure how to fix this.

Hi All,  Can someone help me out with this problem? Setup:Lenovo 3000 V100 w/ Vista SP1 Intel Wireless Pro NIC The Wifi light indicator is not turning on at all.  No matter what I do.  I've tried turning on and off the wireless switch and I've tried re-installing the Intel Wireless Network driver several times. Any suggestions or help is much appreciated!! More info:If I click: "Connect to a network" I receive the message I receive is: "Windows cannot find any additional networks." To start off, the reason I put the 552/556 in the title is that while the drivers installed on my PC are for the 552, the adapter physically on my computer looks like a 556. I need to ask two things:

1. Why doesn't the wireless network adapter show up on the device manager? The only thing under "Network Adapters" is the Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller #2
2. How come the under "Other Devices", the Ethernet Controller has the yellow alert triangle?

Unless the fix allows me to download necessary files on one computer and transfer it to the other via USB, please make sure whatever solution you recommend doesn't require Internet connection.

Where would I go to find a way to rollback those two items? Thanks for any help!

Previous BIOS versions should be found on the T410 driver matrix if you scroll down on the BIOS page. Hi I recently purchased the U41 Series laptop, with i5 (5th Gen) ,4 GB Ram, 1 TB SSHD , 2GB NVIDIA GEFORCE. It has an Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC3160 adapter. Now, I am facing a lot of issues due to this adapter. Firstly, the connection is very unstable. It drops out anytime, and speed also fluctuates a lot. Secondly, when I am in my room, all other devices, including a 5 year old Lenovo laptop can acccess a Wifi network, but the U41 fails to access and if it does, it frequently disconnects. Read online for a lot of solutions, it is faced by all the users of this adapter, but had no luck. Please look into this matter, and if necessary, call for a replacement of the wireless adapter. It would be good on Lenovo's part if it does so. It is really frustrating to buy a Notebook with such good configs & then facing such issues !!.

Hi,
I'm using Dell Latitude E7450 (equipped with WiGig Intel Tri Band AC 17265) in Windows 7 and WLD15 Docking station. Currently, I'm doing a research on the performance of WiGig by using those pair of devices. I'd like to measure some 802.11ad performance parameters such as RSSI and physical data rate. However, the only interface to connect/access the docking station is Intel Wireless Dock Manager, which doesn't provide such information.

I've installed Wireless Dock Manager and the connection between the Laptop and the Docking station is successfully established. However, Intel Tri Band Wireless AC 17265 still doesn't appear on Network Adapter option. In the manual (http://www.dell.com/support/manuals/an/en/anbsdt1/dell-wrls-ds-wld15/WLD...), Intel Tri Band AC 17265 adapter should appear in Network Adapter option in Device Manager.

Therefore, I'd like to know if there is another possible way to access the physical layer information (RSSI and physical data rate) for this WiGig connection. I also would like to know about the availability of Intel Tri-Band Wireless-AC 17265 driver on Linux.

The help will be much appreciated. Thank you.

Rizqi

Hi! First of all, I'm sorry if my English is bad. My laptop is running on Windows 8.1 Single Language. I just bought this about a month ago and I'm having this weird problem.

Cases that my network adapter connects to my computer:
1.) After restart
2.) When the network adapter successfully starts and then shut the computer down then start it again

Cases that my network adapter does not connect to my computer:
1.) Turning the computer on after a few hours from the last shutdown

I have done the following things:
1.) Update the driver
2.) Not allowing the computer to turn off the network adapter
3.) Uninstall and reinstall network adapter
4.) Release and renew IPv4 address
5.) Disable Proset services
6.) Disable Bluetooth driver and services
7.) Set WLAN AutoConfig to automatically start

Is this a hardware related problem or a driver problem? Do you know how to fix this?

Thanks!

I have installed the intel PRO wireless toolkit and run tests on it.
In the hardware test it failed and says "wireless hardware not bound to transport driver"
PLEASE help me!
The ethernet works fine and i can take hotspots from people. But i cant create my own!!

I bought a WIFI LAN Wireless Network Adapter Dongle

I have win xp home on my laptop where i'm trying to install it.
when I plug it in - I hear a noise that it connected but it's not prompting me to install it.
How do I install and configure this?

Answer:installing a WIFI LAN Wireless Network Adapter Dongle

if there was a driver disk with it, run setup on that. If you are on Vista the driver may need to be upgraded. You may need to be on SP2 or later on XP. Once the system recognises the device you will need to know the password to access a secure network.

I've recently upgraded my internet provider to BT and received a BT Home Hub 3 as the new wireless router. Previous to this I was using a wireless Belkin G + MIMO ADSL router (model number F5D9630-4).

There are places in the house where the wireless signal is very poor. Connecting to the internet using either of these routers is difficult in these spots. However, since the Belkin is now spare, I've been thinking about trying to use it as a low cost repeater (i.e. free) to extend the wireless range in the house.

There are several good articles that I've found on this site which address the connection of two routers together (e.g. John Will's article on connecting two SOHO routers is a good example), but they rely on an ethernet connection between the two routers. I'm just wondering if anyone can tell me if there is a way to establish a wireless link between the two routers to extend the range of the current wireless network.

Cheers everyone, and thanks in advance.

Hello,

I have a laptop dell xps M1210 with Intel(R) PROSet 3495 ABG. It has been working well for several years.

Yesterday morning I got an error: "Problem applying profile", then it couldn't been connected.

I did a lot of things.
1) Update the driver from 10.5 to version 12.1
2) Make sure "Wireless Zero Configuration" service started.
3) Uninstall the wireless adapter and reinstall it.
4) reboot the machine.
....

It is not working today. The error becomes "Intel(R) PROSet/Wireless Software was unable to detect a supported wireless adapter.".
By checking the device manager for connectivity, everything looks good.

One thing I must mention is sometimes I got an error that is "Microsoft Help and Support Center has encountered a problem and needs to close...."

The detail is Error signature
AppName:helpctr.exe AppVer: 5.1.2600.5512 ModName: ntdll.dll

Hello!

I will start this off by freely admitting I'm not great with computers and usually don't know what I'm talking about.

I have an Acer Aspire 4720Z laptop.
I recently wiped it clean and installed Windows XP, and have not been able to connect to wireless internet ever since.
I used the Acer website to download the drivers, extracted all the files, etc.

When I open Intel PROSet/Wireless, I get an error message that it is "unable to detect a supported wireless adapter. Please install a supported adapter."

Also, Intel PROSet/Wireless does not appear on my Device Manager. (The only things that are listed under "Network adapters" is 1394 Net Adapter and Broadcom Netlink Gigabit Ethernet.) I feel like that's probably part of the problem, even if I'm not sure why, haha.

What can I do to get my wireless access back?

Thank you.

I can connect to the network via ethernet cable; and also I have another laptop and it gets connected to the same network via wifi without problem. Im starting to think it could be a hardware issue, but it that were true I think the computer wouldnt detect the wireless adapter.

I'm not sure if I'm missing something here.  We purchased a Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter, and it appears to be working.  The issue we are having is when my laptop is connected to the wifi network (LAN), it doesn't find the wireless adapter.
If I disconnect from the wifi network, it finds the wireless adapter and connects fine.  It appears that my laptop isn't creating a Wifi Direct connection when searching for the Adapter and therefore can't connect to the wireless adapter unless
the wifi is disconnected and therefore available.  Does anyone have experience with this, and ideas?
I haven't yet tried other laptops, but we did test with an Andriod phone, and that connected fine, and was also connected to the Wifi (LAN) at the same time. The laptop is Windows 8.1, and appears to be miracast compliant. (the search for wireless display
button is available)

Thank you!

Dear all,

I thought I have met this problem before before my two wireless adapters both stopped working.

PCI-E INTEL 5300
TP-LINK WN821N

My case is a little different from those I found on this forum.

1. When I upgraded my thinkpad x200 to win7 64bit, I don't have "Wireless Network Connection", but I fixed it by stopping one setting of Kaspersky and it came back, so when I first found my PCI-E wireless didn't work, I thought the same thing happened, although I didn't remember the details, I tried the Kaspersky, don't work.

2. I updated the drivers, uninstall-install, start-stop-start WLAN AutoConfig... I have done a lot that can be searched on line, never worked for me.

3. Tragedy happened, I adjusted several common options on BIOS, then after several tries I made to make 5300 work, USB wireless died Don't know how to recover it, and back to my laptop again.

Could anyone here help me out? Really appreciate it! I have spent two days on this stuff, if no one can do this, I guess the only way is to reinstall the OS, that's the least thing I want to do.

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!

PS: Unavailable wireless adapters have all zero Mac addresses, also can't be found in control panel.

My wifi stops working on my "Idea Center 700-25ish" computer when you upgrade the "Qualcomm Atheros QCA61x4" network adapter driver to the lastest driver version "12.0.0.312" dated "5/23/17".  This happens on either a direct driver download from the Lenovo support site or doing a windows upgrade to the "Fall Creator's Update" on windows 10.  The only way I found to work around it is to back out of the upgrade.  Since Microsoft is no longer supporting my version of windows 10, I had to reinstall the "Fall Creator's Update" and start using an Ethernet cable to access the internet.  My Wifi is still not working.  Does anyone know how to fix the Wifi problem?

I upgraded my T500 to Windows 7 Professional from Vista Business.  Since upgrading, I have been unable to obtain satisfactory WiFi connectivity.  Symptoms are that I cannot stream from either the internet or my local server without experiencing periodic interruptions and/or total drops.  I've tried reinstalling the driver, replacing the WiFi card itself, and adjusting the parameters associated with the adapter card.  Nothing seems to help.  I also own a T61 laptop which I also upgraded from Vista Business to Windows 7 Professional, and I have had no problems with WiFi connectivity on that machine.  It also has an Intel Wifi adapter but a different model.  Both laptops connect to my LAN and the internet through the same D-Link wireless access router. I'm beginning to suspect that the Windows 7 driver for this particular WiFi adapter is flawed.  Has anyone in this forum had a similar experience? Thanks in advance for your comments/assistance.

eGreetings All,

I have a 4 year old Acer Netbook Aspire One D250-1341. Running Windows 7 Starter. It is out of warranty.
About 3 months ago it started dropping the wireless internet connection. It has a Broadcom 802.11g network adapter onboard. (No exclamation mark in the Device Manager). It still connects at close range to my router.

I tried some general adjustments by searching the web - but nothing helped.

So I thought I would try adding an Intel Wifi Link 5300 AGN card. There is a slot on the bottom of the netbook where it fits. You just take the cover off and slide it in.
Windows found the card and installed the drivers. It shows up in Device Manager with no exclamation. I manually disabled the Broadcom adapter.
But the Intel 5300 won't find my network.
I went to the Intel web site and ran the Driver Update Utility it searched and found the 5300 and installed the current drivers.
Still no luck connecting.

Maybe this setup won't work at all and I should send the Intel 5300 card back to Amazon for a refund?
I am at a loss.
I have tried searching the web and I can't find anyone that has added a a wireless card to the open slot on the bottom of an Acer D250.

Any ideas? I was hoping to get a stronger and more stable wireless connection.

Thank you so much for your time and assistance.
Happy Holidays!
Jeri

I have tried updating the driver several times.  I am at the most recent version of the driver, 13.3.0.24, and it is still not present as an option.  All I see is EAP-MSCHAPv2 and SmartCard or other certficate.  I do not have any of the Intel ProSet or ThinkAdvantage apps to manage wireless.  I tried to get rid of the vendor cruft.  Was that a mistake?

Yes, Alharaka. It appears you've uninstalled the Intel ProSet wifi software that enables the wifi card

At intermittent intervals, my Intel PRO/100 M adapter loses link, which post warning to event log. It immediately comes back up (with Link up informational post) and reestablishes connection. My wireless connected computers likewise lost internet connection, resulting in momentary loss of internet connection. Frustratingly, it always interrupts the VPN connection I use for work.

I've updated drivers, etc. Device seems to be working properly except for these frequent (7-8 times per day) interruptions.

Has anyone experienced this before? Thanks

Hi. I have an IBM T40 Thinkpad laptop running Windows XP with CISCO Aironet Client Utility installed to manage my wireless networks. I don't understand the point of this utility as I find the Windows XP wireless connection management more reliable and straightforward, but I don't know how to disable this thing. I would if I could and I have tried, although not that hard.

Anyway, I was using the CISO Aironet Client Utility (or whatever it's called) fine, then I visited a friend's house and needed to get on his network. He started poking around and one day it was working and the next it was broken. It kept saying it couldn't find a radio signal or that it was off. I came home and it wasn't working for a month or so.

One day, I messed around with it and it started working again. Only problem now is whenever I shut down my laptop and re-open it, it never reconnects to my wireless connection automatically. I always have to do it by hand.

Any suggestions here? How can I get it to reconnect automatically and if I can't, how can I get it to use the Windows wireless features that are built in and bypass this CISCO stuff?

Thanks!

I have a x61 with built-in wireless Intel WiFi Link 4965AGN network adpater (driver updated to latest version 12.0.0.82). Just converted my wireless 802.11g router (Linksys) to a 802.11n router (D-Link DIR-655).  Wired connection works great, but wireless is not able to connect in 802.11n mode (only connect in 802.11g mode at the slower 54Mbps). ThinkVantage Access Connections (updated to version 5.02) can identify the new router as 802.11n at 100% signal strength but is not able to connect in 802.11n mode.  Tried to edit the wireless mode of the location profile in Access Connections but there is no selection for 802.11n.  I cannot find any more setup I can edit.  Any known issue with ThinkVantage for 802.11n connection or compatibility issue with Intel WiFi Link 4965 AGN network adaptor?

Hey guys, need some urgent help here.

I have a program on my computer called Intel(R) My WiFi Technology, which has something to do with my network adapter (Intel (R) WiFi Link 1000 BGN). I recently had an annoying notice popping up from this program saying 'The Wireless Network Adaptoor could not be found'. So I decided that I should find a solution on Intel's forums. I came across a thread that discussed my problem, and one of the Intel workers mentioned that Uninstalling and Reinstalling the program would be the best solution. So I followed the steps and came across a huge problem . Turns out that once I removed this program, my computer wouldn't connect to my wireless network in my house. I went onto my other devices throughout the home and they all seemed to be working fine, and that my router was still working fine aswell. I went onto my other computer and downloaded the program onto my USB, and installed it back onto my original computer. There still wasn't any difference, and my computer still currently can't connect to my wireless access point. I've rolled back drivers, updated them, and I've refreshed wireless network adapters in my Network and Sharing Center in Control Point. I'm starting to run out of ideas, and I really need some help. My computer can still detect networks though, but I've discovered it can connect to my Mobile Phone's Access Point, meaning I can connect to 3G through my phone. I'm sus... Read more

Answer:Uninstalled/Reinstalled Wireless Network Adapter - Can't connect to Wireless Router

Make sure you have the latest wireless driver from your laptop manufacturer's web site.

Delete all wireless profiles. Then try again to connect.

Please attach a screen shot of the Networks page of the Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector and show ...

Start, Run, CMD, OK to open a command prompt:
(For Vista or 7 type CMD in the Search box after Start)

Type the following command:

IPCONFIG /ALL

[Note that there is no space between the slash and ALL.]

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If necessary use a text file and removable media to copy the results to a computer with internet access.

I have been experiencing wireless wifi connection problems with my HP Pavilion dv6000 laptop. I am running xppro (I went from vista to xp pro..took a long time as I am slow) Anyway, I read that you can add another wireless network card as a work around, in the event that the internal wireless card breaks/dies.

I bought a BelkinWirelss G USB network adapter- F5D7050 and tried to install it on this laptop. I was able to install it on my IBM T23 and Gateway laptop. I had to disable the radio on the gateway before it worked. The IBM is old and has no built in wireless card. ON my HP pavilion dv6000, I slid the wireless button to disable and also went into device manager and disable there too.

For some reason after loading the Belkin in, it does not find any wireless networks. I called Belkin and spoke with their help desk but they were not helpful. My question, short of disabling my HP wireless card, do I have to remove the actual software (uninstall broadcom ) so the computer will look only at the belkin software?

My HP laptop, warrantied expired 2 months ago. Any help would be appreciated..

Mine is Dell Inspiron 3537, Os: Windows 7 Ultimate x64. My laptop wifi works fine for some period of time, but suddenly the current wireless connection gets disconnected and no wireless networks appear in the list. The network connection icon in taskbar changes to no network connection (small monitor with yellow exclamation icon). The wireless adapter is still enabled only.
Well i found a way to bring back the connection and to show the available wireless networks by disabling and enabling the dell wireless adapter under "change adapter settings" in Network and sharing center. But this problem keeps repeating at unpredictable intervals and i have to disable and enable the wireless adapter everytime!. Please help me with a solution.
I have already tried the following,
1. Re-installing,updating wireless network drivers.
2. Re-installing entire OS with full format of all hard drives.
3. Disabled (unchecked) "allow computer to turn off this device to save power" option under power management tab of dell wireless adapter properties.
4. Changed the power saving options for wireless adapter to "maximise perfomance" for both on battery and plugged in modes.
Having tried all these still no luck, the problem persists. I borrowed a digisol wireless USB adapter from my friend. this works fine all the time with no issues.
I have no idea why mine is not working properly. please do help.

Hi everyone: Iím having an extremely frustrating problem connecting to my Netgear DG384G v3 wireless router in my flat.

In short:

Ever since I reformatted my hard drive and reinstalled Windows XP Pro, internet browsers do not detect a connection to the internet despite a wireless connection being detected in the network connections (and the icon in the system tray) when my wireless adapter is plugged into my PC. Connection problems only occurred after the reformat, another PC in my flat connects wirelessly to our router with no problems (before, during & after the time I reformatted; Iím posting this using his PC) and the router config settings have definitely not been changed in any way so its not a router problem. It appears that the wireless adapter is able to detect a signal from the router but the router is not sending information to the adapter (I canít even connect to the router setup IP address 192.168.0.1)?

More detailed:

1) I wiped the PCís harddrive then reinstalled Windows XP Pro Ė I thought the recovery disk would have drivers with it (like others Iíd used) but it didnít so I had to manually find nVidia chipset & 3com Ethernet controller drivers and SP1 (for USB 2.0 functionality), download them on another PC and transfer and install them on mine. I got SP2, this didnít change anything, I changed back to SP1, still no change to connectivity.

2) When my Netgear WG111 v2 wireless adapter is plugged into a USB port, Windows recognises it as a d... Read more

Issue: Adapter detecting other surrounding wireless networks, but not mine

1. I create profile manually (Network and internet --> network and sharing center --> manage wireless networks), and it connects to my network no problem, although still not recognizing on the list of available networks. At this point the internet is working.

2. I unplug from USB port and switch it to a different one, internet stops working

3. I try re-making the profile manually as I did before to no avail, also tried switching back to previous USB port. No go.

Hello TSG Forums,

I've got quite the challenge for you guys. I've gone through two different tech support lines, three computer savvy friends, and every troubleshooting trick and tip I could scour off of the internet. All efforts have been in vain thus far. So as to not make this post too long, I'll get to the point.

I recently bought a new wireless adapter to connect to the internet with. Previously I was using an older adapter that my room mate was lending me. ( a Motorola Wireless USB Adapter WU830G to be exact.) At first when I installed the motorola it didn't work. I can't remember what I did to make it work for the life of me, but I eventually twisted my computer's arm enough that it gave in. Now it's uninstalled from my computer, along with (I hope) all the drivers and programs that were using it.

So I bought a new adapter (Belkin Wireless G Plus MIMO USB Network Adapter - F5D9050) read the instructions carefully, and made sure that it was installed just as the manual says. (Install the software, wait for the prompt, etc etc.) Everything seemed to be going smoothly until I tried to configure my connections. (Where the wireless detects all the access points, and you put in your WEP key etc.) The wireless adapter seemed to be doing nothing. The device manager showed the adapter with no problems, and no errors, but the program was stubbornly pretending that my wireless adapter didn't exist. After trying multiple USB ports, uninst... I looked in Device Manager and don't see a wireless network adapter but under Network Infrastructue Devices I see "Microsoft Wireless Router Module". Are these the same thing? Thanks for help!

Answer:Wireless Network Adapter vs. Wireless Router Module

The device listed in Device Manager would most likely be your NIC (Network Interface Card) on your machine. This is the card that sends and receives data to and from your machine.

Wireless Router Module is most likely some software which enables your machine to obtain DHCP requests from your router as well as support other features which would not have been made available with the default settings. Based on the place you found the module 'Network Infrastructure Devices' I can assure you that an infrastructure device is not the same as a NIC

If you are able to provide a screenshot I may be able to offer a better explanation

Hope This Helps,
Josh!

Isssue: certain areas of 2nd floor three story building might as well be dead zones for this adapter. British Telecom and Cisco have been there to address any environmental concerns. Both have made their adjustments to no avail. The adapter dies in this area and will not find AP eventhough I'm directly underneath. I have tried all adjustments (power management, roaming agressiveness, b and g only, g only etc., radio transmit power) nothing works. I use custom build or IBM Preload with Access Conn with newest drivers but still get same results. Netstumbler logs sent out and response was 4965 detects twice as many APs as 3945ABG and therefore more sensitive to signals. Issue has been escalated to Intel/Lenovo/IBM but in the meantime the solution is to switch to the 3945ABG (works like a charm compared to 4965 series) Anyone else in the universe have any similar experiences???

Hi,
I have recently lost the link in my wireless hook-up, and when trying to re-install the software again at the request of D-link technical support, I get an error message to the effect the "isrt.dll" and 'isres.dll" installation support files cannot be installed, and that access is denied.

D-link tell me these files are windows xp files and have been corrupted, and that I must re-install XP again.

Just to check - Are these files really xp files, or are they D-Link installation shield files, and are corrupted on theD-Link installation cd.

I really don't want to re-install XP unless I have to.

All help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Welcome to TSF.

The first dll file you listed is for Visual FoxPro (a Microsoft Product). I can't find much info on the second one though.

Try restoring them by using sfc. Go to Start->Run and type in sfc /scannow and hit Enter. Let it search and if it finds anything missing/corrupted it will prompt you for the Windows CD.

If the above does not work, right click on My Computer->Properties->Hardware->Device Manager and see if the wireless adapter is listed there. If it is, remove that entry/entries and restart. Try to reinstall the drivers after you login.

Hello,

I recently bought a D-link DWA-525 Wireless PCI Adapter for a new unit I was building. I had to resort to a wireless solution since the room the unit was to be put was kinda hard to reach by wires. After I installed the drivers everything seemed to be fine but the machine doesn't seem to see that there is a PCI Adapter plugged into the PCI port and when I try to open the dlink connection manager software it just says that the wireless adapter is not found.

The operating system is Windows XP SP2.

Thanks

Greetings, canephalanx.

Anything showing up at all in Device Manager?

You might try uninstalling and reinstalling, let Windows go through the Add New Hardware wizard if it didn't the first time, and point it to the D-link install files.

Might also check your BIOS, disable any adapter settings that may be conflicting.

Alright, I recently got a D-Link High Powered Wireless 108G Desktop Adapter for Christmas. So I was like, sweet, can replace my old card. The old card was a NetGear Wireless Adapter. So I get home, and uninstall the Netgear software, remove the card, reboot, and insert the CD included in the D-Link package. I follow the instructions, and I turn off the computer, install the card, and turn computer back on. In the manual it said the new found hardware box should pop up. It didn't, just an icon saying new hardware was found in the taskbar. I didn't click on it and waited for the box to pop up, it never did, and the small icon in the taskbar disappeared. So I am like "Uh-Oh". I can't finish the installation without this! So, I uninstalled the D-Link software, removed the card. Rebooted, and tried to install the software again, it worked, I install card, reboot, no luck on the new found hardware box poping up. Tried that 3 times. No luck. Ran CCleaner's Registry check, to remove the old registry keys. Still, no luck! I just did a system restor and am going to try again. But, what should I do if that doesn't work? Please help!

I'm moving to wireless as the apartment i am now living in won't allow us to run cables through the walls, and i don't want em streched out all over the place. i've done my research and found that d-link 802.11n is the way to go for solid performance range and steady fast connections. well, they were right, in my roomates computer(dell 4200 or something) it runs great, yet in mine, i go to install the drivers(which there is only one version, which is not digitally signed ) and my computer freezes up just as it finishes installation. i've tried 2 cards, 3 different ways of installing, and numerous attempts(2 dozen attempts with manufacturer installation guide, twice manualy placing drivers in system folder and puting registry entries in myself, and a couple times having windows install it through the internet(hard line)) anyone have any suggestions as to what i should do next, i'd like to use this adapter although i can take it back to best buy and go from there. my system is in my signature.
